Cultural center
The Museum of the Cherokee People offers a comprehensive exploration of Cherokee art, history, and culture through its exhibits, digital films, photographs, and holographs. Visitors can delve into the rich history of the Cherokee Nation spanning over 13,000 years and gain insight into their resilience and inventive spirit. The museum provides interactive videos and captivating displays for an engaging experience. Additionally, group packages are available for larger parties with options such as Cherokee language courses and performances by the Warriors of Anikituhwa.
I visited this museum while visiting Cherokee. I throughly enjoyed reading all of the plaques and found them to be very informative. They have a nice gift shop to browse as well. There is a picnic area in front of the museum building, but unfortunately it was much too hot to sit there. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend going.

Very nice Museum that teaches us about the amazing history of the Cherokee peoples and also the indigenous peoples that preceded them. The museum told us that they may be working towards a new museum in the near future and that some of the exhibits were either down or being updated. There was also a great gift shop as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We have much to learn and appreciate about the Cherokee people.
Joe C — Google review
Nice small museum that opens a window to past. Good opportunity to learn more about when Indians lost their land. They have gift shop inside. Entry fee is $15 per person. Free parking.
H O — Google review
Interesting aspects of Cherokee culture, language & lifestyle exhibited here in the museum.I wanted to invest time & money in the area so chose to spend approximately an hour inside. It was spacious had low lighting & easy to read descriptions of each display or artifact ; i.e 7 Cherokee clans or the wasps nest mask.I'm really into anthropology and found info on the peoples in this region fascinating but would have liked detail about life - choosing a childs name, education, marriage/partnership practices, funeral practices. Overall a really interesting visit I look forward to the installation of the forthcoming interactive informatio.Tha

This is an excellent destination for learning about Cherokee history and culture. The exhibits are engaging and educational, offering meaningful insights into the heritage. The staff members are welcoming and approachable, and the gift shop features a wonderful variety of locally crafted items perfect for souvenirs.
Kat — Google review
A well designed beautiful museum pertaining to the Cherokee Peoples. There weapons, games and utensils that were used. Great displays that are very informative. Staff was very polite and helpful.
Jim C — Google review
I feel like describing this as a cool or interesting place to visit is disrespectful of the history represented within the museum, but if you're looking for a way to connect with the actual culture of the Cherokee people while visiting then this is it. You move from era to era, learning how the Cherokee nation lived, worked, and played then learn about the Trail Of Tears and the treaties written (and broken) 2 centuries ago. It is eye-opening and appalling but I think it's absolutely necessary for those of us living today to study and understand the mistakes our forefathers made so we never do the same. There are wonderful exhibits of arts & crafts and the gift shop is filled with goods from indigenous artists and shop owners. One exhibit has the Cherokee alphabet on push buttons so you can hear the pronunciation which was really neat. There are just a lot of great things to see here!
Rebekah B — Google review
Went to the Museum of the Cherokees and really enjoyed our experience. They have great exhibits with historical details to share with those who take the time to read the commentary. Great for all ages. Worth visiting and learning about their heritage and culture.

Buffet restaurant
American restaurant
Restaurant
Granny's Kitchen is a beloved casual diner in Cherokee, North Carolina that has been serving up Southern classics since 1984. The restaurant offers a lunch and dinner buffet with a rotating selection of dishes, including favorites like roast beef, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and biscuits with sausage gravy for breakfast. One of the highlights is the lunch buffet which features over 25 options at an affordable price of $12.50, including their famous popcorn shrimp.
Have been wanting to try this place and so happy we finally stopped. Stopped by after a leisurely drive up to Clingmans (Kuwohi) and Newfound Gap with hardly no one at either destination. The staff was absolutely fantastic and the food was off the charts!!!!! Highly recommend everyone stop by and check them out. Will definitely be telling all my friends and without a doubt be back many more times!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tom W — Google review
The quarters here are tight which is why I have 4 stars for atmosphere-you will literally rub elbows with other people because the space is small and the crowds are big! We came at 1:20pm on a Friday-had a ten minute wait which was quicker than expected since the line was out the door! It’s $13.95/Per person but a drink is not included-it’s $3.95 a drink which I found totally excessive and gouging! Water is free. The salad bar was good-not great-canned mushroom instead of fresh was disappointing-the lettuce mix was weird too but lots of options! The buffet has limited options-it’s not huge. This is not Golden Corral! But what they do serve is delicious. I’ve grown up in the south so at 56, I do have a taste for true southern food. The green beans are perfect, as is the fried chicken and the simple chicken gravy over rice-mmmmm-made me wanna slap my momma! It’s a great value except for the drinks-those should be $2.50 max! It’s off the beaten path but totally worth the deviation! I don’t recommend if you’re a true vegetarian because veggies had meat for seasoning. But we were thrilled to have a hot lunch that was made with Whole Foods for less than $30!

My server was a very pleasant lady named Mary Ann with 20 years of service here @ Granny's‼️ Ms. Ann then introduced me to the Owner Mr. Ray Williams whom has been in business for over 41 years ... since 1984 Mr. Williams added! Yikes‼️😊 (That's A Long Time!) First time patronizing this Restaurant, had a great overall Experience. Staffing was Classy and Professional. ❤️'ed Ms. Mary Ann‼️ Food was Downhome good, Reminding me of how my mother would cook. They got me to try their Baked Chicken‼️ I've not eaten chicken on the bone in I've 30 year ... and it was good‼️Meat falling off the bone! Did l mention the bar is all you can eat!? I Will Certainly Be Back Here Soon‼️

Second visit to Granny’s to enjoy a great buffet meal. Make sure you have an appetite to get a plate or two.

I only come here on my vacation but when I'm here it's the only place I go to eat. It just perfect everything is perfect for me. The food is home cooking excellent comfort food. The staff is friendly and quick with a refill. Priced right and the buffet is all you want. I'm sure there's other places in Cherokee but, why go anywhere else when you know Granny's is perfect already. Note: I don't give many 5 stars unless the place really deserves it. This place earns every star everytime. Please don't change a thing. I'll be back soon 🤠
Joe B — Google review
Went today for the very first time for lunch. We will not be back. The server was very sweet the hostess not so much. But the food was just terrible! You could taste it was all from yesterday apart from the fried chicken. Salad was brown and old as well box Mac and cheese with some extra cheese baked on top. Paid $13.25 and $3.25 for watery coffee as well. The meat loaf had tons of filler and was watery the green beans tasted sour. There really need to up there quality.
Lindsay S — Google review
Everything was tasty, but the selection was very very small. I was honestly surprised — I’ve never seen such a tiny buffet before. The interior is pretty dated, but maybe that’s just the style of the place, I’m not sure. The staff was very sweet and welcoming. Unfortunately, our server never checked on us even once to see if we needed anything, even though it wasn’t busy. Our total came out to $50 before tips for two people. It seems like they even charge for regular water, because it was counted as a beverage on my bill.

Good for what it is. A home cooked feeling buffet where you can eat as much as you want. The price is right too. I can see frequenting this place.

Pancake restaurant
Breakfast restaurant
Nestled along the Oconaluftee River in Cherokee, North Carolina, Peter's Pancakes & Waffles is a beloved family-owned diner offering a familiar breakfast experience. The simple riverfront setting and classic diner layout create a cozy atmosphere for enjoying all-day breakfast favorites. Whether you're craving fluffy pancakes, crispy waffles, or savory breakfast skillets, this spot has something for everyone.
Awesome locally own breakfast spot that specializes in pancakes, waffles and french toast. I had the bacon egg and cheese omelet and it was delicious and my daugjter had the french toast and said that it was amazing! The back of the diner overlooks a lovely serene view of the river and is an excellent place to have a relaxing breakfast and coffee. Our server was attentive and friendly. This is definitely a place that locals come to! I would recommend and would certainly come back when I am in Cherokee again.
Derek P — Google review
A group of us (8) decided to stop here one morning for breakfast. The service and the food was absolutely amazing. Right on the river. The blueberry pecan pancakes and bacon was probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Wish we were in town for another couple of days so we could have eaten there every day. Our server was so kind, friendly, and very attentive. Food came out super quick. Must try when you’re in town…. Now that I think about it, I might move here just to eat at Peter’s every day.
Bret P — Google review
This was a fantastic experience. Food, atmosphere, and service were all incredible. I sat at the bar solo so I was seated quickly; if you come in a group get here early, it was packed! Loved my "Huevos Enriques" and the blueberry pancakes were from heaven. Solid coffee too. Definitely worth it!
Ian J — Google review
Such a wonderful experience, at our first visit to Peter’s. Although we experience Cherokee frequent times a year, we had never enjoyed a meal from here. We had such a wonderful time, from the minute my son saw the autumn pumpkins, to our interaction with the hostess, service from the waitress, and of course the quality of the kitchen staff. We truly enjoyed our late breakfast. The food was out quickly after ordering. The staff was kind. Would definitely come back again during our next trip to Cherokee.
Sasha M — Google review
Eating here was such a treat coming back to Atlanta from Gatlinburg. The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious! We had eggs, biscuits, grits, French toast, and beef hash. Food was served quickly, and we had a great time sitting at the counter watching the cooks do their magic. They were busy even on a Friday morning so I can imagine the weekends are packed so plan accordingly. We will definitely be back here when we are in the area. Or maybe we will just have to detour even if it’s not on our way!
B M — Google review
Went on Saturday morning. It was busy. Had to search a bit for parking but it wasn’t too bad. Initially said 20 min wait but we got seated prob around 10m later. Service was great people were so friendly. Food was wonderful. We got blueberry pancakes and eggs potatoes bacon between the two of us and shared. Definitely a place to go! We even bought a cup.

Peter’s Pancakes & Waffle House Vibes 🥞☕️🍳 We’ve driven past this place a few years ago🚗 and I was tickled when I said, “Peter’s Pancakes!” 😂 No idea why it cracked me up, but it stuck. This time, we finally pulled in—and I’m so glad we did 🙌 It’s got that old-school Waffle House feel—nothing fancy, just cozy and familiar. The coffee was hot and strong ☕️, and the food? Delicious. I had the blueberry pancakes 🫐🥞 with country ham 🍖. The ham was perfectly salty—just what I needed to balance the sweet maple syrup 🍁. The potatoes 🥔 were cooked just how I like them 🔥. My husband? Total opposite—he wants his extra crunchy, almost burnt 😆🔥 He ordered the biscuits and gravy 🍽️. He really liked it but he particularly loved the biscuits. In fact he like them so much he got a second helping of biscuits 🧈 And of course, he added extra crispy bacon 🥓 Our friend Ed was digging into a loaded breakfast bowl 🥣, and his girlfriend Elle, pictured here, had a full-on feast: two eggs 🍳, corned beef hash 🥩, and pancakes 🥞. Serious breakfast goals. We left full, happy, and still quoting “Peter’s Pancakes” on the way out 🚘💬
Christa — Google review
This place wins best pancakes in the world. Every bite I said “mmmm these are delicious”. I had pecan pancakes with bacon the hubs had plain pancakes with tons of butter. They were amazing! Bacon was perfectly cooked. The hubs said the coffee was good. Service was very good. Especially appreciated the hostess - she was sweet as could be.

Caterer
Ruth's Chris Steak House is an upscale chain known for its sizzling, butter-topped beef served in an elegant setting. Located at Harrah's Casino in Cherokee, North Carolina, this restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring grilled shrimp, lobster tail, crab cakes, and petite filets. The epitome of elegance awaits you as you enjoy premium wine alongside mouthwatering steaks and seafood.
Ruth's Chris in Cherokee is the best restaurant in the area for fine dining. Reservations are recommended and the dining experience, service and food are top notch. Highly recommend the Gamblers Old Fashioned if you enjoy bourbon cocktails. Being from Kentucky, its rare to visit outside the state and order an old fashioned that is made properly. Ruth's Chris did it right! The steaks have more of a salty taste that me and my daughter really enjoy. The bread is fresh and absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the lobster tail and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. For desert, my daughter ordered a slice of cheesecake for her birthday and remarked that it was ridiculously good! I think Ruth's Chris has officially won her over for life 😂 Our server was friendly and attentive and provided excellent service. This location allows Caesars Diamond players to use their $100 celebration dinner voucher here which is a plus! Overall, an amazing dining experience and a must for a couple or family looking to have an upscale dinner while in Cherokee.
Derek P — Google review
This review is for my most recent visit to the location in Cherokee, N.C. I absolutely love the new additions to the menu. The butternut squash is savory and sweet and totally different from anything else they have. And the from scratch carrot cake, well, just look at the picture. Gordy....thank you for the introduction. I am extremely impressed with the carrot cake and the attention to detail. Jessica, thank you for the wonderful service as always and making sure all of my particulars are taken care of. Josh...thank you for making me feel valued as a customer. I can't wait to dine with you again.

Julio was the best! Great customer service and attention to detail. Drinks were good! Steak came out wrong had to be sent back , I felt like the manager girl didn’t care she was not wanting to deal with it, but he insisted. We’re not tourist we live here we frequent that location several times a year. .

I had such a great Happy 45th Birthday here. My meal was delicious, including my drink. Brooke waited on me and had a great attitude and was very friendly and polite!
Tiffany M — Google review
My son and I chose here for my birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. We had made reservations and were taken almost right away. We both started out with French Onion Soup, which we both said that it was the best we had ever had. The broth was fabulous and the bread and cheese made the soup. The bread and butter was also warm and tasted delicious. We both got the filet mignon I got the 4oz with grilled shrimp (which my son ate the shrimp and he loved them) and my son got the 11oz filet we both got them medium and they were cooked perfectly. I got a side of garlic mash which were a little cold, but I did not say anything because everything else was so good. My son got a side of fries and mac and cheese which he loved them both. I got the cheesecake that came with the dinner and it was wonderful. Our server was attentive and had a great personality, I wish I could remember her name. Overall we had a wonderful dinner and it made my birthday!
Rebecca B — Google review
Great food and excellent service. We had little room for dessert as portions were well prepared and filling. Great place to go for those special occasions.
Steve R — Google review
The hostesses was un attentive , she stand there talk to her co-worker for a good 5 minutes before she realize we was in front of her, and told is be a few minutes and continue talking to her co-worker for another 5 minutes, before she seat us down . The restaurant was half empty, but the wait was over 1 hour ?????? The food was OK , it’s a little in the salty side .
Iamdreamer1 — Google review
We went twice during our stay at Harrah's. Caitlyn was the best server. My lobster tails were superb. My husband lamb chops were a little under done but too often when we order them medium well they are overcooked. The second night our server was also on point. He was attentive and they both made my birthday special. We will be back soon.

Nature & Parks
Oconaluftee Island Park in Cherokee is a picturesque destination offering a variety of activities. Visitors can enjoy the serene Oconaluftee River, relax in the bamboo forest, and take advantage of picnic areas and a sand volleyball court. The park also hosts farmers markets and Native American theater performances, adding cultural experiences to its natural beauty.
The park is properly maintained, and the restrooms we're clean and well stocked. There were rocked-out areas making safe swimming holes for children of all ages. Walkways were very wide and flat, which made the park family and elder friendly. The Bamboo Forest was pretty cool. We were able to get a few interesting photos. There are also many picnic tables and grills for family fun. Thank you for offering such a lovely park.
Patricia V — Google review
We like to visit Cherokee & sit along the river. We are here for the summer/ fall & will drive to have a picnic lunch, read a book, walk around the park. The island has a beautiful bamboo forest with a trail amongst the bamboo. The river is safe for swimming, be careful of the slippery rocks. The park is clean with several picnic areas, family & pet friendly. It's a very relaxing and peaceful place to unwind. There is also a clean restroom on one of the wooden bridges across to the island.
Danette K — Google review
🌿 Oconaluftee Islands Park gave us such a peaceful and memorable experience. We dipped our feet into the cool river and let the calmness of nature surround us. The sound of the flowing water, birds chirping, and the lush greenery all around felt like pure therapy. It was the perfect escape from the noise of everyday life a place where both our bodies and minds could truly rest. Simple, yet incredibly beautiful. If you ever find yourself in Cherokee, this park is a must visit. 🍃💧
Mustafa K — Google review
Love this park! Spent a couple hours walking around, enjoying the fresh air, skipping stones, and putting our feet in the water. We saw people picnincing, people with kayaks, and people wading in the water. It is a great place to spend some time outdoors. It's not even 2 hours from Pigeon Forge. I will be back to explore more of the town!
Deborah B — Google review
Very nice, family friendly and pet friendly park. Had plenty of picnic tables. Has benches overlooking the water, where children and pets were playing. We went specifically to see the bamboo forest and really enjoyed it.
Christy H — Google review
We like to stop at this park on the way back from pigeon forge It's a nice place to relax as a beautiful stream where people fly fish and it also has some beautiful scenery like a bamboo forest and another creek on the other side has bathrooms on site nice little cute bridges so cozy little place to relax at.
TeckJunky — Google review
I found this on our way back from Gatlinburg and it is exactly what I expected. The Bamboo forest was our focus point and it was very unique and worth the trip. The water and dog friendly place was also a reason. Our dog loved the water and I regret coming with my sneakers and leaving the slippers in the car. I would have definitely enjoyed the water. If you come with an inflatable tube and your kids you will love it here.
KTan P — Google review
This was a neat park. The entire town was basically in the creek tubing and swimming. The small bamboo forest was cute too. We didn’t see any elk at this park. But we did see them at the visitor center down the road.

Restaurant
Rancho Viejo Mexican Restaurant is a family-owned eatery located in Cherokee, offering traditional Mexican dishes made from authentic family recipes. Despite being situated in an unassuming strip mall, the restaurant has gained a reputation as one of the top dining spots in the area. The menu features a wide variety of options, including tacos, fajitas, and quesadillas.
Incredible service, wonderful, delicious food. They provide a ton of veggies in your salad which is nice. The bean burrito has homemade sauce I belive. It was amazing.
Heather C — Google review
The most bland Mexican food I've ever had. Salsa tastes like pizza sauce. The chile relleno must have been premade frozen - breading was like a bland, soggy corn dog. I've never seen one like that. Beef on the tostada was a very soft texture with no flavor. And the cheese was just shredded cheese. The "quesadilla" was more like a large taco. At least service was prompt and friendly.
Katelyn T — Google review
Went there for lunch today and their food was absolutely amazing! I had fish tacos, guacamole and a strawberry daiquiri. Definitely coming back soon!

We stopped in on a Monday afternoon and it was half full of customers. We were seated instantly and the chips and salsa arrived within seconds. The service was amazing and the food was awesome! Cheesesteak tacos are 10+, grilled chicken quesadilla is fire and their home style chicken, rice with queso was fantastic! Definitely saved this on our maps app in case we are in town for another mountain road trip!

Kobe Express in Cherokee, North Carolina is a laid-back restaurant known for its diverse Japanese menu featuring sushi, hibachi dishes, and grilled specialties. The bright and inviting atmosphere makes it a great spot to enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine made with fresh seasonal ingredients.
Kobe Express in Cherokee, NC, was an absolute delight! The shrimp and mushrooms were cooked to perfection, paired with flavorful fried rice and sweet, tender carrots that added the perfect touch of sweetness to the meal. The portion was generous, and the freshness of the ingredients really stood out. If you’re looking for a quick hibachi fix with incredible flavors, this spot is a must-try!

Great customer service with good knowledge of what we could eat as vegans. Had their mixed vegetables that come with fried rice and a salad for only $11! Pretty good sized portions so it was more than worth the money
Seth S — Google review
This place is amazing! In my whole life I've never gotten such large, wonderful servings. I've been to sushi bars all over the world and I even worked at one for 4 years. So I know what I'm talking about. On the volcano roll, usually you would get tiny minced up bay scallops and instead there is huge sea scallops and shrimp. It's amazing! Totally unexpected. The scallops are bigger than the roll in diameter. So cool!! 🤩 The Philly roll has huge pieces of smoked salmon. Possibly even smoked in house. I couldn't be happier. I wish we had one of these where I lived. I would order from here exclusively. This puts the sushi at the casino to shame! Do yourself a favor and get a few rolls from this place and you will not be disappointed. 10 Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This really made my day. This was great.
Justin B — Google review
Food here is great, service is great too. Our group of 24 were seated right away, with tables happily moved by the staff and us. Their only 2 waitresses worked hard to please us and the other customers. Price isn't bad considering the quality of the food, with the exception of the chicken wings. It should be a crime to even harvest a chicken so small that you can nearly cover the wing flat with a quarter. The other negatives, the A/C was broken during our visit and the tables were sticky, I know that that's from an issue with the clear coat on the table and the chemicals used to clean it and that's why lot of restaurants have opted to put plexiglass or table clothes over their tables, maybe something for them to consider.

First time we came here and we are impressed. Chicken teriyaki was good and tender. Will be back again. Ginger salad was good and not diluted with soy sauce etc. Kinda spicy when you have real ginger. But it's good!
Diana M — Google review
Definitely didn’t enjoy the hospitality from this restaurant during a quick trip visit. The waiter was very rude to my husband because he was asking for a bigger table due to us having more parties joining us. If we were the other color I promise the approach would have been completely different so I had to give her the approach in return she gave my husband.

BJ's Diner in Cherokee, North Carolina is a local favorite for its delicious and indulgent burgers. The Buddy burger, priced at less than $8, is a must-try with its almost pound of beef stuffed with peppers, onions, bacon, and cheese. The Bubba Burger is another crowd pleaser featuring double patty, double cheese, double bacon, and all the fixings. Despite its unassuming appearance, BJ's Diner offers fresh ingredients and reasonable prices.
The burger was delicious! $10.99 for this monster with all the fixings. Husband had a cheeseburger which was also very good, and it was only $7.99. Not a fancy looking place, but so good. Right on the way into the Smokey Mountain National Park.

One of best cheese burgers I've ever had !!! Friendly people. Recommend to try them out ..

Its really a food truck. The lady taking the order was a lil moody but the lady giving you the order was really nice. It is in a great spot by the river. As for the food i found my burger a lil salty but all my friends love them.

My husband really wanted the Mexican 🌽 cornbread, but they didn’t have it. Instead, he went for a 🌭 corn dog, 🍔 cheeseburger, and 🟤 hush puppies. He said everything was 👍 good, but he especially loved the corn dog 😍. I ended up eating most of the hush puppies 🙈—though they were shaped more like corn dogs 🤔😂."

This little gem of a dinner has all outdoor seating right by the river or take out. This is one of the best burgers I’ve had in quite some time. If you want a burger , this is the place to stop.

Grounded. Coffee Shop & Food Factory is a charming spot that offers a diverse menu of sandwiches, salads, pizza, and breakfast items like croissant sandwiches. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior is delightful with an extensive selection of sandwiches, wraps, soups, and a full coffee bar. The decor is described as bold yet chic. While some reviews expressed concerns about opening hours and limited milk options for coffee, many visitors have praised the friendly service and high-quality coffee at this establishment.
The pizza was delicious, we had the grounded pizza but added pineapple, so good. Some people may think that the price is a little high, but price of every thing is going up. People there were great as well helpful in working with my wife's allergies, thank you, keep up the great work.

Upon first glance this place leaves a little to be desired… but don’t let that deter you. The service is great, the food is solid for a healthy cafe lunch and it’s a great addition to the area when you need a nutritious bite. The gentleman that served us was very kind and brought our food out to our table in a timely manner. It was empty when we ate here, but we would definitely come back if in the area again and support this local spot that might need a bump in patronage.

We stopped at this coffee shop and ordered iced lattes. The Barefoot iced latte had a wonderful chocolate flavor. The Oconaluftee iced latte had a caramel flavor. Both were delicious! The employees were very friendly and encouraged us to enjoy our coffees in their dining room.

Such a nice place to have lunch , stopped here twice when I was on vacation. I had the Cuban sandwich twice , haven’t had one this good since I lived in Florida. I will definitely come back next time I’m up here on vacation. Please give them a try when you’re in the area. ❤️😋

I have to say after reading some of the reviews, I was a little hesitant. However, I was greeted by a great young man behind the counter. Who was both pleasant and helpful. He help me make a decision from the menu, (which I was not a single bit disappointed.) I thought the decor was bold, but very chic. Something that will cause this place to stick out in my mind. I’ve left many bad reviews, and not hesitant to do so. However after my experience. I wonder if the other reviews were possibly just grouchy people? My visit was the complete opposite! Thank you for the great coffee and pleasant stop in our travels❤️will come again

Absolutely Love this place! Great flavor selection, atmosphere, style and service! I’ve never been disappointed with any drink I’ve ordered and their food is great!
Lynn H — Google review
This place is okay for coffee and food. It was unfortunate that anything blackberry was out of stock. They all looked really tasty. The coffee was really mid. I just was so sad with my drink and hoping the house coffee would defeat my hotel’s coffee. I was being too optimistic. I really couldn’t get over the smell of mothballs in the establishment. The smell infiltrated into my breakfast croissant. The place has a lot of potential to be cute and vibe. It was not somewhere I would go a second time. I understand it would cater to different types of cliental. It’s more of the convenience if you don’t want a sit down breakfast.

On Sunday, September 10, a couple got married and then went on their honeymoon in the national park area. During their trip, they discovered All Fried Up restaurant which provided them with the best food they had throughout the entire vacation. The couple ordered an 8 piece family chicken meal and requested leftovers. However, they were pleasantly surprised by the amount of food left on the table as it could have easily fed a small army.
Best Alaskan Cod I've ever had! Delicious sides and more food than I should have eaten. Fast and friendly service! Real glad I stopped in. Going back tomorrow for the shrimp and grits.
Jeremiah W — Google review
Food is absolutely amazing! The fried green tomatoes were so good and beautifully presented. Fish is also off the chain! The only downside was the service was not that great. I was met with nonverbal stares when I said thank you or asked for to go boxes. The food is well worth the hype though and we will probably just order to go next time so the vibe isn’t killed.
Shelby S — Google review
I’m a bit of a food critic when I go out, and this place blew me away. I saw plates coming out and immediately knew I had to try the fish—fried perfectly. The shrimp and grits were some of the best I’ve ever had. Generous portions, great flavors. We ordered the blooming onion, and it puts Outback to shame. I usually skip hush puppies, but theirs were so good I wanted more. The GM, Darrin, was incredibly friendly and checked on guests throughout the night—offering suggestions and genuinely listening to feedback. You don’t see that level of service anymore. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Cherokee.
Justin B — Google review
I can't tell you enough how good the food is here! Hot, fresh, & tasted like homemade! Huge portions, a variety of dishes & sides to choose from, & literally something for every appetite! I got snaps as my side dish, & I'm telling the truth, they tasted like they were fresh out of my grandmother's garden & cooked in her pressure cooker!! Amazing how good they were!! So if you're in Cherokee, do yourself a favor & stop in for a meal!
Leslie B — Google review
Stopped in for a weekend lunch. Delicious food!! Nothing fancy. Order at the counter and they bring it out to you. I had the seafood platter with fried bay scallops, shrimp, and fish. The flavors were on point and the food was cooked perfectly. Will definitely recommend and will return!
WillBrittany P — Google review
The shrimp and grits is some of the best if not the very best I’ve ever had, he said it’s his grandmothers own recipe, very flavorful and filling, I had it last year when we were in town and it was just as good then too
Marshall M — Google review
The customer service was really bad and disappointing. The hostess would have preferred to be on her phone and was rude. Food has the potential to be good if it were fresh. I gave it a try twice (6-7 pm) but both times the food was clearly really old. I guess they cook their fish for the day in the morning. Prices are not the same as their website…about $2-$3 more.
Felicia R — Google review
I'm posting this from the parking lot not a minute after I got my pickup order - this is THEEEEEE BEST fried chicken I've had in years! And everyone I spoke to was real nice too. The portions for the sides are generous. New favorite chicken joint unlocked! I can't wait to come back and try the fish.

If you're in the mood for a quick and convenient breakfast spot, Mabel's Kitchen is worth considering. They offer counter service where you place your order and have it brought to your table. The biscuit had a nice texture, being light and fluffy. However, there were some areas that could be improved upon. The sandwich didn't taste as fresh as it could have been, with the eggs and sausage lacking that just-cooked flavor.
Every single person in our large party loved our food. It was quick, hot, and delicious! The portions are HUGE! The biscuits and gravy seemed to be the biggest hit. The staff was so nice and polite, they seemed like a family here. Stop in, you wipp not be disappointed!

What a hidden gem. We both said Best breakfast we have had in a long time. The smoked bacon is unbelievable. Service was great. I didn’t see exactly what I wanted in a platter but was able to order just the things I was. Do not pass on the hash browns either. Biscuits are huge!!! Husband said the steak was outstanding!

A great little place to eat. They even have a drive thru that was full the whole time we were eating. Food was great.
Angela B — Google review
Hands down, the BEST biscuit I’ve ever had! The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit from Mabel’s Kitchen is incredible. The biscuit is perfectly buttery and flaky, the sausage is packed with flavor, and the egg and cheese bring it all together in the most delicious breakfast sandwich!
Andrew — Google review
Hidden gem on the side of a gas station. Delish!! The biscuits were so soft and fluffy. Grits were very good. So glad we stopped here instead of other places in the area.

Nice clean diner with good food and friendly service. Lots of variety on the menu for breakfast. Clean restrooms and connected to a gas station. One stop for all your needs while passing through. Service got 4 stars because I ordered the southwest burrito with no mushrooms and it came with mushrooms. Was still a good burrito just directions were not followed.

The Oconaluftee Indian Village is a living-history museum that offers an immersive experience into the 18th-century lifestyle of the Cherokee people. Visitors can witness demonstrations of traditional activities such as hunting with a blow gun, canoe building, basket weaving, and pottery making. The museum also features the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, which provides insights into ancient legends and the tragic history of the Trail of Tears.
I liked the Indian Village! It was very interesting to learn about the Cherokee tribe back in the day. Our guide was very helpful and informative and I enjoyed the different dioramas and sets. It was fun and I’ll come back. -Henry

Very informative and entertaining. A guided tour, a council hut talk and ceremonial dance exhibition. Well worth the entrance fee. The staff welcomed questions. Happy to share their heritage and culture.

We entered the Great Smoky Mountains, and this was the first visitor center we came across. You can purchase your entry pass here — $5 for a day pass or $15 for a week pass. The place is clean and well maintained. It’s a great stop to pick up maps and ask questions from the helpful staff inside. The restrooms are decent, and there’s a lovely area behind the center where you can walk around the old barns and enjoy the beautiful stream or river that flows nearby

This was a great experience to learn how Native Americans live and make things. My husband and I enjoyed the tour.
Lori H — Google review
It was very educational. We walked to different areas with one showing how they made their clothes and belts. A couple of other areas showed what they lived in at during different times periods. We went at the end of September so it was warm. We watched a beautiful show of the Cherokee Indians dance. There were a lot of gnats and you walked to each area in the village. So count on walking some.

Went on a school field trip for my child, the Guide was so knowledgeable. I can't remember his name, but really loved his enthusiasm and depth. Takes about 1.5 hours. All walking outside, gentle slopes, living history type of a museum. Worth the time spent in Cherokee.

Unto These Hills is an outdoor drama that has captivated audiences for almost six decades with its powerful portrayal of Cherokee history and resilience. The play takes spectators on a journey from the ancient days of the Cherokee through the heartbreak of the Trail of Tears, ending in the present day. This must-see historical performance unfolds against the backdrop of the stunning Appalachian Mountains, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in both nature and culture.
One of the highlights of our Cherokee trip. This is a fantastic play that tells and shows the history of the Cherokee and the events that led up to the trail of tears and the Eastern Band origins. Reading up on this history on Wikipedia would be highly recommended as this is a subject that is not commonly taught in school. The amphitheater is an amazing scene and is just a lovely setup for an outdoor drama. The seating is comfortable and there's not a bad seat in the house. There are some really cool and unique gift items for sale before the show and intermission. I wish we had bought more. As for the drama itself, I was really impressed with the actors and the cannon/gunshot effects. This was such a fantastic way to teach my daughter about history while engaging her theater side at the same time. This was an experience that we will never forget and the Cherokee people will always be in our hearts. Highly recommend.
Derek P — Google review
This show was awesome. I'm so glad we got to attend. Story is very moving. The actors were superb. The Eagle dance was my favorite part. Learning the history of the Cherokee people has me Googling to find more information. Highly recommend.
Cheryl S — Google review
The show was absolutely incredible. Snacks and drinks were very fairly priced. The outdoor theater itself was amazing. Guides were available to assist in parking. Amazing job all around by actors and staff. Highly recommend seeing show.
Jerrod B — Google review
The staff is friendly and nice. The show itself is great. Lots of action, and yet gives you a complete story. Very well done. And for short people they supply step stools for sitting in the seats. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. We sat in row D and had a great view. As for the meal, not worth the $20 per person. You are better off to get advanced seating/VIP and either eat in town, or eat at the concession stand at the show, better value. They have pizza and popcorn and several other choices. The $20 meal was a 1/4 of bbq pork, oven roasted hush puppies, 1/4 cup of Mac n cheese, 1/4 cup of Cole slaw and 1/4 cup of baked beans. Not bad flavor but not worth $20.
Darren R — Google review
The acting was great but we couldn't hear half of what was said so it made it difficult to follow. Only the narrator's voice was loud. Everyone else you could barely hear them and we were only about 10 rows from the stage. Need better microphones!
Shannon — Google review
We loved the show! The cast was amazing and everyone we met was extremely kind. The weather wasn't great and climbing the stairs for every lighting pause was not great, however they can't control the weather. We will definitely come see the show again, but will look at the weather better.
Kara M — Google review
The whole production was very well done. The acting was superb and not over the top.
Debra V — Google review
We came at the beginning of July of 2024, and we LOVED the show. The show started at 8 pm but before the show, around 7:30 there was a performance by some singers. Very nice and good vibes. We arrived around 7:20 with regular tickets, and we were able to sit on the 3rd row. We could see everything perfectly. I was very touched by the story of the Cherokees and made me respect them even more. The show has a break of 15 mins at 9 pm and the show ends at 10. It lasts about 2 hrs. The seats are made out of metal, so they are uncomfortable, so plan on bringing a cushion. Be aware that there are some special effects of guns that can scare small children. They sell very affordable snacks. The actors did a very good job. I would have liked to see more "native-looking" people, but I assume it was not easy to find that many actors. People who sell their hand-made jewelry should stay after the show. I bought something before. But after watching the show I wanted to buy more and nobody was selling. I'm glad that this show has been performing for 75 years now. IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL SHOW! Don't listen to bad reviewers. It is 100% worthy.

Cherokee Rapids River Tubing offers a refreshing escape from the scorching sun, providing tube rentals for as low as $12 and ensuring a worry-free experience with included life jackets and transportation to the rapids. As the leading tubing outfitter in Cherokee, they also offer kayak rentals for those seeking a different adventure on the clean and invigorating waters of the Oconaluftee River.
I took two of my grandsons, and they had a blast. The staff really is as nice as people have talked about in the reviews. They will keep your car keys safe for you while you float. Take your time and stop and get out and play! Take a few snacks and drinks if you can. They have cooler floats for rent!
Chris C — Google review
Really glad we gave this place a chance. Fantastic experience, the perfect amount of chillness mixed with adventure. A few class 1 and class 2 rapids really added to the fun. Time on the water is just under two hours if you don't stop to swim or take photos or anything. They have tubes for coolers and ones with bottoms for younger kids. It's also half the cost of what we paid in Asheville. Can't wait to go back.
Jeffrey S — Google review
Best First-Time Experience! For the first time ever, a friend, our kids, and I went two days in a row! On the first day, OGANA caught me, the cooler, and two of the kids right at the end—it was all part of the adventure. The route is absolutely beautiful and lasts nearly two hours. It was so relaxing being out on the water, surrounded by awesome people just trying to enjoy some summer fun. When you return to the main sit you can even enjoy the most amazing ice cream. All the employees are amazing. We had an amazing time, and we’ll definitely be back. Happy Customer 😁
Nicole S — Google review
It was great, but not for the faint at heart. There’s lots of rapids, you will get soaked, and bouncing off of rocks and through branches of trees of course unless you can navigate a tube.
Capt'n F — Google review
This was by far the best tubing area I have been to yet. Cherokee Rapids Tubing seem to be efficient and organized in their ticket sales and boarding. The driver was very informative in what to expect and how to navigate the river. The tubing lasted about 1.5-2 hours depending on stops for swimming. Parking is limited and you may have to park elsewhere with a short walk to the facility. I would recommend taking a staff or stick to help guide you as you go down the river. My wife and I (no stick) were carried to a bank and got into a rather large hornet nest. Fortunately, we were able to get away from the swarm with only 1 sting. Had we had a stick or staff, we could have avoided getting into that. But it is nature. So be observant and cautious, but have FUN!!

Had amazing time need to clean sides of river where the drop people off to tube tho bec the rapiers pull u right into the downed trees I had to flip off my tube that was tied to my 5 year old so I cld keep her from fliping in the water u cldnt Nt touch and thank god church family member it happened to him so he got to the side and tried his best to swim and help the rest of us coming behind but I told my child put ur head in ur lap lay down I pushed up the tree she got under but I had to flip off to push her under it so she didn’t go in and me not be able to grab her it was a blast but where u drop people off I think u shld go down the river and cut the trees that the hurricane probably brung down cut them away so it’s a very fun experience then it was beside the multiple trees we had to push off of it was work at times but cut them away down to where customers get off at your building that wld be amazing because we had fun but lil frustrated at times with so many trees we had to go under or hit bec the current pulls u right into them
