Cafe
Brunch restaurant
The Replacement - Lodge & Kitchen is a charming cafe located in Johor Bahru's old town, offering a relaxing and laid-back ambiance. The white-washed exterior and minimal decor give it a touch of Melbourne's cafe culture. The menu features an array of brunch options such as French toast, eggs benny, and croque madame, as well as all-day items like crab mentaiko aglio olio and soft shell crab bao.
The food is decent but be warned that it takes very long to be served (~30min). Visited on a Saturday afternoon so that might be the reason. The staff are very friendly and warm. Service is fantastic. The coffee is very good as well. Believe they use common man coffee roasters beans. I had a coconut latte which was 10/10. Will visit again when it’s not too packed and if I’m around the area

Had an amazing time at The Replacement Lodge & Kitchen! All the food we had was really good, the vibes and service spot on, and it was such a pleasure connecting a little with Sukee, who has been running this place for 10 years. You can feel the heart and care that goes into the space. Wishing the team continued success and many more years ahead!

Had breakfast here and had the eggs benedict and salmon bagel. Both dishes tasted great! Plating is amazing too. Ordered a tiramisu to finish off the meal, tasted great as well. Coffee is a must try here since they use their home blend beans which tasted so differently that we loved it! Will come back to try other dishes.
Chelsea B — Google review
I ordered a mocha from the "Classic" menu and it was underwhelming at best. I suggest ordering from one of the premium coffee options instead. The SSC Bao was quite enjoyable with a strong mustard based sauce. The overall atmosphere of the place is very charming. Definitely a nice place to chill.
Lakshan — Google review
Very good restaurant/cafe, was surprised it wasn't full during weekend lunch peak hour for the relatively high standard. Ordered the eggs benedict with salmon, tomato soup, (and a side scrambled eggs to hit minimum for klook voucher). The churros was free as it came with the voucher. Churros was probably the best we ever had - texture was perfect and not too sweet. Tomato soup was above average and eggs benedict was above average too. Service level was okay, the staff mixed up our order and was not great at explaining the add-ons on the menu. Restaurant was nice and clean with very good ambience.

The Replacement was one of my regular cafes to visit when coming to JB since many years before. However, noted from this recent visit that the menu was updated and there is no more aglio olio (used to be crabmeat aglio olio many years back if I remember correctly, and to smoked duck aglio olio in recent years) in the updated menu. The aglio olio (to me) was the classic dish that is a must order when dining at The Replacement. Ordered French toast and duck confit (new on the menu) in this visit instead. The French toast is different from what we used to have (thicker toast somehow?) and the duck meat was dry/tough, not what I would expect from a duck confit dish. The French toast was acceptable I guess but would advise not to order the duck confit. Quite a disappointing visit (without the aglio olio) and with the ample choices around, I’ll likely not be back in the near future.

The food was quite good and the brownies is also nice, but just a bit too sweet ,and the breakfast plate was nice also .But the service is quite bad because we waiting fr the food come from 1030-1130 almost 1hour. I hope they can improve more for their service. The place is quiet nice and pretty for taking picture ,this cafe have aesthetic and classy vibes too.

Italian restaurant
Tosca Italian Trattoria is an authentic Italian restaurant located on the 13th floor of DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru. The restaurant offers a contemporary take on traditional Italian cuisine, with a focus on wood-fired specialties and an extensive antipasto table. Guests can enjoy magnificent views of the Straits of Johor while savoring rustic yet modern Italian dishes.
Decided to come to this restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day this year. My mum and I just went Italy for holiday one week before this meal, and funny comment from my mum, she rather eat in this Italian restaurant in Malaysia than those in Italy, the price there is not reasonable at all 😂😂 the pan-seared Halibut is fantastic and we like the Seafood Risotto too. Special thanks to Syaqirah for the recommendation. My mum doesn't like cheese, she carefully choose a few dish that fit our taste and we like all the dishes very much. (The meal was sometime back, but I promised to leave a review, so here it is :))

I celebrated my wife birthday for dinner at this restaurant, food wise is reasonable for taste and pricing. Atmosphere is really great and it's a awesome place to plan celebrations. One of the best service provided by the waitress and manager. Overall experience is great and I will plan to come back again

This is truly a hidden gem in Johor Baru. Located on the 13th floor of Hilton Hotel, this Italian restaurant serves really amazing authentic food. I was absolutely blown away. Everything was cooked to perfection and there was a Quattro pizza where you get four flavors on a single pizza!
Eric L — Google review
Had a fantastic dinner at Tosca Trattoria Italiana during our stay at the DoubleTree Hilton. The restaurant delivers authentic Italian flavours in a really nice setting. The pictures tell a thousand words - the food quality was genuinely impressive and easily comparable to the good Italian establishments in Singapore. Every dish we ordered was well-executed with authentic flavours and excellent presentation. What I really liked was the open kitchen where you can watch the pizza being prepared. The kids were fascinated watching the chefs at work - great for them to observe and appreciate the art of pizza making. The whole ambiance is nicely balanced between classy and welcoming, with thoughtful lighting and wine displays that give you that proper Italian trattoria feel. The restaurant works really well for family dinners, romantic evenings, or private functions. Portions were generous and the quality justified the pricing for a hotel restaurant. If you're a Hilton Gold member, you'll enjoy a generous 25% off the bill, making it even better value. Will definitely return when we're back in JB. Highly recommend for anyone seeking quality Italian cuisine in Johor Bahru. Note: Service too was excellent!

Had a wonderful dinner here! The food was delicious, and the ambiance was just right for a relaxed evening. A special shoutout to the waitress who did the table-side pasta service she was friendly, professional, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Kudos to the whole team for great service and a memorable meal. Big thanks to Fina for her service as well. Will definitely be coming back!

We celebrated a birthday last night at Tosca JB and I would like to compliment the chef as well as the service staff for their exceptional performance . The presentation of the meal was lovely, food was on point as well as great service . Definitely will be returning soon.

Italian restaurant
Rosmarino Italian Restaurant is a delightful dining spot in JB that offers an authentic and sophisticated Italian experience. The restaurant boasts a romantic ambiance with elegant decor, deep purple hues, and warm lighting, making it perfect for a dreamy evening with loved ones. The menu features a wide array of traditional Italian dishes made with fresh ingredients, including delectable pasta and pizza options.
We chanced upon this Italian restaurant at dinner time and were attracted to see that it was almost full house. Gave it a chance and never regretted it. Very quality lobster bisque and pasta. We ordered the T-Bone, decent, but I’ve had better. So when I come back again, I will come for the pasta and pizza. Oysters were absolutely fresh and big. They were awesome
Jasmin L — Google review
Reservation is a must!! If not you'll have to wait for a long time. There's 2 seatings so if you arrive too early you'll have to wait if the table from 1st seating is not ready. Managed to get a seat outside as I didn't make reservations. Food were served cold/some just warm. Grilled mushroom was too salty and oily. Crab cake was not hot, not that nice. Pasta is edible so overall didn't really enjoy the meal there. But other ratings are good, maybe it was just a one off not so good experience. Might return to try again other dishes with a reservation for indoor seating.
YL — Google review
This was my first time trying an authentic Italian restaurant — and I could tell it was the real deal the moment I walked in, with almost half the customers being Italian! TBH, I absolutely loved it. We ordered the lobster soup, a mixed platter, pizza, and the crab sauce squid ink risotto. Everything was fantastic — definitely a 5/5 🌟 from me. Personally, I was obsessed with the risotto. It was creamy, rich, and the aroma was on another level. Just a heads-up: it might leave your teeth a little black afterward… but totally worth it! 😂 The environment and atmosphere were amazing — perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or some cocktails. Sadly, I was driving that day, but my dad got to enjoy the alcohol… lucky him! 😆 Parking can be a bit tricky during dinner hours, and do double-check their operating hours — I originally came during the afternoon, but they were close to their lunch break, so I had to return for dinner. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking to try authentic Italian cuisine in JB!

The best Italian food in JB. The food was amazing and the portion is huge satisfying tummy. Lots of good things on the menu to try. Restaurant owner & staff was lovely and helpful with the infomation we need, the friendly gesture make us happy to come again. My personal favourite fresh oyster with hot sos is good to stimulate our appetite ya! Grazie di tutto!✨
Nur W — Google review
It is very worthwhile for their lunch set to cost around $19.90.You can choose a main+ daily soup+ ice lemon tea. Their cuisine is flavourful but not too salty or sweet. Recommend their seafood risotto as you taste at least one seafood when you spoon out the risotto. The only bad point is when you call out for a reservation , one of the guys sounds a bit impatient. But other waiters and waitresses are all quite polite.
Xiao Q — Google review
If the reply is from boss, just make sure your staff did not lie to you. Or, your staff lack of training, misunderstood us. This was always my #1 Italian restaurant. The service and food have always been top-notch. But today's experience really plummeted! As usual, I ordered Mushroom Soup. Since I had three children with me, they only gave my youngest brother a plastic bowl. The other two, ages 6 and 8, didn't get bowls, but used adult plates. Then, here's the kicker: one of the kids wanted to drink. I raised my hand and asked for an empty bowl. The staff told me no, that wasn't allowed. I asked if they could give me my brother's children's bowl. They told me it was for babies. I was completely puzzled. ❓❓❓ [Before I even entered the restaurant, I was told that younger children weren't allowed. 🍴 I asked if my youngest child, 4, could be allowed.] If babies aren't allowed, then why are children's tableware only for babies? Immediately, the staff, perhaps unsure how to proceed, told the manager. He came over and explained, "This is an Italian restaurant 🇮🇹. According to our boss's rules, sharing mushroom soup isn't allowed in Italian restaurants." He also added, "This isn't a Chinese restaurant. Chinese people love sharing, but Italians don't allow it. Our mushroom soup is only given one bowl, but I'm giving you two now." My husband got a little angry because we'd only asked for one bowl the whole time, not two. 😒🧐 The manager walked away without even looking back. My husband then took a picture. 📷 When I looked up, I saw the manager was also filming us with his phone. 📱 I'm really curious. How unreasonable is it to ask for an empty bowl? 🙂‍↕️ Is sharing food only practiced by Chinese people? Is it legal internationally?

Authentic Italian taste. Food portion in generous. Atmosphere feels cosy. The food is served fast and promote service from the wait staff.

Came with high expectation but the taste is just ok (set lunch). Despite the taste, it is value for money >main course, soup of the day & drink. Anyway will give a try again as the feedback from friend is pretty good (non-set lunch)

Restaurant
George & Dragon Cafe is a charming restaurant with an English Tudor style interior that exudes a medieval ambiance. The extensive menu offers scrumptious Western cuisine including Baked New Zealand Mussels, Black Pepper Chicken, Pan Seared Fillet of Salmon, Sirloin Steak, Seafood Pasta, and Chicken & Mushroom Pizza. The cafe also offers high tea options and Afternoon Tea Boxes for a delightful family-friendly experience.
Food was quite good. Nice ambience. Second time visiting this place as a treat from daughter. The first time was during Christmas about 20 years back when she was still small. Still same quaint English ambience. I liked the food. We had the beef pie, apple crumble with ice cream, prawn pizza and chicken chop.
Anne S — Google review
We visited this cozy place to celebrate my girl's birthday, and it was a lovely experience. The highlight was the sirloin steak cooked medium rare—absolutely fantastic. We also enjoyed the apple crumble, house lamb pie, and Margherita pizza, all of which were quite nice. The fish fingers, however, were a bit fishy and didn’t quite hit the mark. Overall, the prices were reasonable, and the portions were generous. We had a great time and definitely plan to come back again to try out other dishes!
Amy T — Google review
Lovely place to have a nice dinner with family and friends. The food is good and the ambience unique. One of the oldest surviving restaurant in the heart of Johor Bahru. Hidden gem of a place. It boast an open bar with Guinness on the draw, has a very nice casual British pub feel. Do visit if you have the chance.
Rizal R — Google review
Great experience. Food was good and service was great. Portions were huge too! Can’t finish my burger lol. This restaurant needs to get more known. Black pepper sauce for the steak was delicious. Only thing is abit hard to call grab car from that location. If you’re driving it’s worth going there to eat! Make your reservations online first, they seem pretty busy.
John L — Google review
Walked in with high expectations, looking forward to sampling the taste of ole England. It's been awhile since my last trip to London. Was impressed with the decor, the charm of medieval England was certainly felt. The service crew were attentive and helpful. The food we ordered had mixed reviews. While the sirloin steak was ok, the ribeye was a let down. Instead of medium rare, it came quite rare. The staff were kind enough to reheat the steak but it came back very well done. Another observation was the cut of meat for the sirloin steak was good, the ribeye didn't look like a ribeye. Nevertheless, the rest of the meal was satisfying.
Brian W — Google review
Last I had George and Dragon was 10 years ago. The food quality dropped tremendously. Rm100 for a steak that have the same quality as food court western food. The garlic lamb was a huge let down. It felt like I’m eating a dish that was reheated over and over. Mushroom soup was also really disappointing. Chicken was dry. The only thing worth eating was probably the mash potatoes and the fries. Will definitely not come back, bad quality food. Total bill rm300, not worth the price.

Great quality food and a wonderful atmosphere. The service from the team was truly outstanding, definitely worth highlighting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious Western cuisine with excellent hospitality.

Came here after my friends highly recommended it. The first Sunday of the month is their montly special - Sunday Roast. I had the mixed roast (beef and lamb) with Yorkshire pudding, etc. Very British vibe, with friendly and attentive service staff. Will come back again and definitely recommend.

Located at 25c, Jalan Dato Abdullah Tahir, Taman Abad, 80300 Johor Bahru, Awagyu Restaurant is a halal-certified gem for Wagyu lovers. It prides itself on serving the finest cuts of A5-graded (BMS8-12) Wagyu beef from a special farm in Tokushima, Japan. The restaurant offers a delectable and health-conscious dining experience with its tender and marbled Wagyu beef.
The restaurant was spacious and had a free flow bar for sauces though the meat was so delicious I feel like I wasted the sauce since I barely used any and mostly used the salt to go with it. On top of that, the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when it came to the ordering process and introducing the menu. The salmon was so fresh as well! They’re also extremely attentive and friendly. Overall an amazing experience food and ambience wise. We’ll definitely be back again.

Tried their omakase set at RM488 ++, ordered a few ala carte and ordered a bottle of sake at RM300 ++ Kappo concept - open kitchen, just opened Nov 2024 (located at level 2) only stairs. If you have wheelchair elderly not suitable. Food (3/5): - Overall food is okay - Wagyu sirloin steak was abit tough. Can’t really tell it’s A5 grade to be honest. - Hot beef stew was abit too sweet - Otoro sushi was good - Hokkaido melon was good - Gave us a cake for birthday celebration Service (2/5): - You can tell the waitress is not very well-trained. A fly flew into our sake bottle, and when the waitress poured the sake into our cups, we noticed the fly. She didn’t apologize, she just said she would throw away that cup of sake and give us a new cup. Paying at this price I would expect a better service level to be honest. - Toilet is normal, not toto. Cleanliness is normal also. Atmosphere (2/5): - Nth special Conclusion, with this price range you can get better omakase elsewhere in JB.

The presentation was impressive — each dish was beautifully plated and clearly prepared with care. But once you get past the visuals, the overall taste just doesn’t match the presentation. The flavours were underwhelming and didn’t justify the high price. For what it costs, I expected a lot more depth and balance in the food. Sadly, it’s not something I’d go back for.

Food is super good !! Been here a couple of times. Doesnt disappoint. Shwe was helping out and showing us how to cook the yakiniku platter. Learned alot of tips and was patient with our questions. Very good service. Celebrated our boy’s birthday and was given a complimentary cake together with a birthday song. Family friendly restaurant.

Great wagyu place; I trust google review a lot and so far it has been good. Came here with my wife on our 20 years anniversary and the food did not disappoint. Brandon who service us was on point in explaining the different type of wagyu meat. And their manager was nice to offer us a nice brownie cake (with ice cream topping) knowing it's our celebration. Appreciate the kind gesture.

Faizah was extremely helpful and knowledgeable when introducing the menu and recommending what parts or platter to order. She helped us cook the meat and gave us some tips for when we wanted to grill on our own. Super wonderful experience!

Always a good meal here. Great cuts of wagyu and good value for money. Especially great that you can try an assortment of cuts to really have a varied experience. Appreciate that they explain each cut too as they cook it. Will always come back

Had an amazing birthday celebration for my wife at this fantastic restaurant! The beef cuts were absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. The only minor hiccup was parking, but luckily there's a multi-story parking lot right opposite with convenient TNG parking. Can't wait to come back!

My hubby ordered the Milk Curry with Korean noodle...the curry was so good that he ordered another bowl of rice to have it together with the curry. I had the crispy mushroom burger but the mushroom batter was slightly salty and I feedback to them, the staff were very understanding and apologize and kindly offered to change for me but I say it was fine. Overall experience is very good, especially their service. Thumbs up 👍🏻

Simple food made with style at a reasonable price. Soup is really good. Fried food here is well seasoned and tasty. The only feedback for improvement is probably the texture and types of noodles used.

Very polite staff and great food. A place that we can go multiple times due to large selection of food

Vegetarian casual dining Sesame oil soup base + kolo mee - Fragrant and flavorful broth with kolo noodles. Crispy burger - Batter of the mushroom patty was seasoned closest reminder to a Zinger from KFC Fried Chicken - Seasoning was very on point with the texture of the fried mushrooms. Mushroom Cordon Bleu - Cheese overpowered the batter and seasoning of mushrooms.

Absolutely love this meatless cuisine spot! The variety of dishes made with mushrooms is impressive — flavorful, creative, and satisfying. A must-visit for both vegetarians and food lovers looking for something deliciously different! 🍄✨

Noodle Face is a fantastic veggie restaurant! Their delicious plant-based dishes, free from garlic and onion, are a unique and tasty experience. The concept (A meatless cuisine ) of mixing different vegetables is brilliant. The serving speed is impressive, and the service is top-notch. Strongly recommend for both the delectable food and the restaurant's commitment to a plant-based concept. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Additionally, they offer an array of organic food options. The menu features reasonably priced dishes ranging from rm7 to rm15.
Besides good ambience and vast parking spaces for vehicles, the food served here brought many surprises, they were extremely nice. We are family of five, we had visited many times here, each time having tried something new, and yet each visit was fulfilled with much enjoyment. Now we are craved to try every bit of the menu. Highly recommend everyone to try this vegetarian restaurant which is quite unique.

Delicious foods here. Service n environment good 2. Staff is friendly n approachable :) Other than their monkey mushroom n mayonnaise contains eggs n curry contains dairy n cannot be omitted, all other foods here are eggless n non-dairy. The vegan eggless, non-dairy n no artificial coloring chocolate cake is made by the restaurant chef @ HQ. We need to give them at least 1 day in advance notice for them to prepare the cake. The restaurant do make cakes that contains eggs n dairy too. So be sure to inform them clearly what you want or don't want. :)

Nestled in the vibrant Taman Pelangi, Raw - Brew & Dine is a must-visit café that beautifully blends industrial minimalism with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Known for its exceptional artisan coffee and delightful European brunch offerings, this café stands out with its signature dish, Swiss Rosti—a delicious combination of crispy potato shreds topped with avocado, mesclun greens, citrus sour cream, and a sunny side up egg.
Went there around noon, the place was relatively empty. Food is delicious with decent portions. Price is ok. Prompt service, food arrived in just under 10 minutes. Nice ambience with comfortable lighting. Toilet is clean. Would come again.
Drfftc — Google review
Chill and cosy little cafe with outstanding music selection, industrial vibe interior and decent food options. We opted for the shakshuka, rosti and coffees. The portion size was quite deceiving - small but filling. The shakshuka was packed with tangy umami tomato richness and the eggs were well cooked. The accompanying chicken ham and sausage are the types you find in intercontinental breakfast. Otherwise, the rosti was decent. We had a few complications with our order, but the server was able to assist us with it, albeit less than friendly. Will return, but would not go out of my way to eat here.

Really enjoyed my experience at Raw - Brew & Dine! The coffee was top-notch, and the food was creative and tasty. The atmosphere was modern and stylish, with a great vibe. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that the service was a bit slow, but the staff was friendly and apologetic. Overall, a great spot for coffee and brunch - I'll definitely be back!
Koh C — Google review
Overall a solid cafe to visit in JB! Love the vibes of the cafe and the Christmas decorations were top notch! Food wise, not that bad but definitely can be better — personally not a fan of their truffle fries as it was not that flavourful, it would have been great if it comes with a truffle dip. Other than that, the rosti with salmon was superb! it came together with a ranch sauce which is what makes it even better 😋 Would totally recommend to try out this cafe at least once! its worth the trip 🙌

Nice food and coffee. Serving size is normal and not good size for sharing. Manual menu is available for viewing. Pictures of dishes is available upon scanning their menu QR code. Staff will be there to take order and serving you with water. Food is nicely presented but may take a while to be served. Rosti is nice but meat serving is not enough.
Nicole C — Google review
I’ve been to this cafe at least 4 times cos I like the flat white here. However today I also ordered the chocolate indulgence (RM18.50) to share with my other half, infant son and mum. The cake was awesome with just right amount of sweetness. I will always come back here again regardless.
Adrian T — Google review
Trying out this cafe, I would say food is not too bad. The seafood pasta is nice, ingredients were fresh and flavours are okay. Rosti with scrambled egg and beef bacon is nice, the rosti with sour cream is good. Shakshuka has some odd spices, but quite acceptable with the nice toasted bread. The ayam masak merah with bao was unique, flavours are abit milder as the bread is bland, needs some extra sauce. Crispy baby squids are ok, fresh no smell and nice with the sour cream dip.
Gary O — Google review
Excellent service. The service staff were very attentive and responded quickly to our requests. They also kept refilling our water without us asking. The ambience of the cafe was nice and music was playing softly in the background. We ordered the flat white and it tasted good. We also had the shashouka. The bread was slightly crispy and the sauce flavourful. I thought it could have done with a bit more tomatoes to make the taste slightly more sour. The salted egg popcorn chicken stole the show. It was crispy, and while you could taste the salted egg, it wasn't overpowering. We ordered the salmon as well. The fish was a bit dry on one side, but tasted nice on the other. The sauce was deliciously sour and complemented the fish very well. Finally, we ordered the chocolate banana waffle for dessert. The chocolate ice cream was delicious and they added some apples and cornflakes for a variety of flavours 😋 the banana was caramelised and it was delicious, but perhaps a bit more caramel would be even better! The waffle wasn't crispy but still tasted good.

Absolutely delicious Western food! The beef chop was perfectly grilled and tender, paired beautifully with mashed potatoes and savory black pepper sauce. The chicken chop was juicy and crispy on the outside, with creamy mushroom sauce that tied everything together. The highlight for me was the seafood carbonara—rich, creamy, and loaded with fresh seafood. Portions were generous, presentation was on point, and the service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for anyone craving quality Western fare! Service staff friendly and nice

1st visit: The pork chop with honey sauce was good, the portion was so big. Enough for two people. Quesadilla is so so. Complimentary bun was so soft and tasty and complimentary mushroom soup really has mushroom inside. 2nd visit: seafood pasta in tomato pesto sauce, no pesto taste. Garlic cheese bun, no garlic taste. Only nacho cheese taste.

The size of the burger same as fast food like McD, KFC, Marry Brown etc, but the content is double. However, yet not enough for my stomach to feel full. The chicken chop use drumstick and taste nice, but the sauce was not enough. The cauliflower soup and mushroom soup taste a bit plainless. Anmour promoting beer in october fest is a good point to attract traveller. The service is good, staff in good manner and patience to serve Customer, Just that the slange and english command of foreign staff need to improve. There is crowded of people during dinner time, be early if don't want to wait for a seat.

The food is incredibly tasty and flavorful while offering a wide range of food with an affordable price. The vintage furnitures gave us a chilling and nostalgic atmosphere. However, there are a few scratches on the seat. The waiters are being enthusiastic and served us a free snack of bread with mushroom sauce.

Food: excellent taste and nicely cooked Tip top service. Ordering app was easy to use. Prices reasonable. Staff checked your order face to face before it goes to the kitchen. Friendly staff too. The environment here is elegant and comfortable. It’s my first time trying this vegetarian restaurant, and the dishes are well-balanced in flavor—not oily or greasy—making them especially suitable for the elderly to enjoy with their families. We ordered the vegetarian yam basket, a crispy taro ring filled with stir-fried vegetables like cauliflower, and mushrooms, topped with crunchy cashew nuts, and served on a bed of fried rice vermicelli with fresh garnishing. .

Hainan Village Malayan Kopitiam in Mount Austin, Johor Bahru is a popular spot known for its reasonably priced and delicious vegetarian dishes. The food is free from MSG and the plating is commendable. Visitors praise the crispy yet soft tofu with pumpkin sauce, flavorful fried bee hoon with XO sauce, and tasty dried curry noodles with vegetarian meat. The staff are accommodating and attentive, allowing larger groups to occupy space and offering prompt service.
Amazing food and service 🌟! I’m not vegetarian, but this is honestly my favourite place to eat!! The food here is just consistently good and always exceed expectations. Must try 🌟 - Pumpkin tofu: tofu is tasty, and sauce is rich and full of flavour - goes very well with rice!! - vChar siew (Bbq honey chix): unbelievably good, better than any char siew I’ve had, veg or not. - Creamy Abalone Mushroom: Savoury, Crispy and flavourful Notable mention – the mango dessert 🥭🤤 No one seems to talk about it but it’s so good! Loaded with mango and even the ice is mango-flavoured. Super refreshing. I’ve tried a bunch of dishes here and nothing has ever disappointed. Highly recommend — veg or not. 😇

They’re so delicious and I also highly recommend the fried tofu skin it is crunchy and gives you a great sense of satisfaction! ⭐️ The owners and staff are extremely friendly and attentive. They even kindly remind you if a dish contains onions or garlic, so if you don’t eat them just let them know, and they will make sure to accommodate your request. This thoughtful gesture really makes us feel respected! great service, delicious food, and the place is clean and hygienic. we keep coming back because we know we never be disappointed. We really enjoy the environment and the foods Highly recommend to everyone!! Can come and try it

We visited this vegetarian restaurant and tried three dishes: Pumpkin Tofu, Nyonya Sambal Ladyfingers, and Salted Egg Abalone Mushrooms. The Pumpkin Tofu was incredibly soft, smooth, and flavorful—definitely a dish worth ordering. In fact, this was my third time having it! However, at RM19.90 for just six pieces, the portion felt a little small, especially compared to the other dishes. The Nyonya Sambal Ladyfingers were fresh and cooked just right, but the sambal was disappointing. There wasn’t enough of it, and what was there felt too dry, making it hard to coat the ladyfingers properly. This resulted in a rather bland taste—almost like eating plain steamed ladyfingers. A more generous and moist sambal would definitely improve this dish. The Salted Egg Abalone Mushrooms were hands down the best dish of the meal! They were crispy, rich in flavor, and super addictive—we couldn’t stop eating them. At RM24.90, it was slightly pricier, but absolutely worth it. One thing to note: the restaurant only serves oil rice and brown rice, with no plain white rice available. Overall, the portion sizes (except for the tofu) were quite generous, and we left feeling very full. Despite some minor flaws, the meal was satisfying, and I’d recommend giving this place a try! I’ve attached the receipt for reference.

Customers have praised the delicious and reasonably priced dishes, such as the Vegetarian Sharks Fin Soup and Wok Hey of the Vegetarian Prawn Noodle with Sambal Chill.
Extremely delicious and superb service from the owner!! Owner knows very well which items are vegan (they don't serve eggs but some ingredients might contain eggs), and even willing to accommodate customizing dishes that we ordered by switching mock items with tofu and veg. V.F.C is so crispy and juicy!! Vietnamese Roll so authentic, even better than the ones I've tried in Vietnam! (Default option is with mock prawn, and we asked to change to tofu). Prawn Noodle soup is so flavorful (default option also has mock prawn which we again asked to change to tofu). Overall food is so satisfying. What's best is the owner's and the staff's friendliness, makes you want to visit them again!

Be sure to try their soy milk laksa—it's simply divine and has become a personal favorite of many visitors.
Great service by boss, clear explanation of products. Waitress young girl also very polite. Food was good for vegetarian.
