Excellent bed and breakfast: comfortable rooms and terrific breakfast. Marcia is friendly and helpful. The pool is nice for cooling off after a hot day at the beach and the grounds are lovely. Beaches are about R20 away via Uber. Downtown is 10 minutes walk away and has a good selection of restaurants. Get directions for the shortcut to walking to downtown which doesn't show on the mapping apps. Highly recommended.

We had a great stay here in early April. Agree with other reviews that Marcia is so personable and we felt we left with a new friend in Lagoa. The breakfasts were amazing - at least three courses + coffee. The room was very attractive and comfortable - opened up to the pool area and had several different seating areas to relax and enjoy. The location was great too- a short walk to sights, Centro, eating places, etc. We will stay there next time we are in the area.

I went back to stay at Marcia`s after a few years and the experience was as excellent as ever. There are new rooms now, but the garden still feels tranquil and they are as well thought out and comfortable as the others. Breakfast remains a highlight. Presided over by Marcia, conversation flows and strangers become friends. Scrambled eggs with fresh herbs, fruit and fresh yoghurt, fruit juice, several types of bread homemade jam and coffee make for a wonderful start to the day. Marcia remains great at suggesting places and with essential information. The vibe remains that you are visiting a friend in their home.

I stayed at Marcia’s for a month and didn’t want to leave. Everything about the place exceeded expectations. The garden is even more beautiful and tranquil in person than in photos. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. The mattress and sheets were particularly luxurious. The location was perfect for us because it’s in a quiet neighborhood, but very close to Joaquina, one of the best beaches on the island. There are some amazing restaurants within a few minutes’ walk, and Marcia is full of excellent suggestions. The city is also only a short drive away. Having explored the island, it’s definitely the best situated area in my opinion. Marcia goes above and beyond any bed and breakfast host I’ve ever had, while remaining very discreet. It goes without saying that the breakfast is five star. If you stay with her, make sure to have the breakfast at least once. You won’t regret it. But beyond that, her hospitality, warmth, and local knowledge make the stay truly special. If you’re new to Floripa, she knows all the best places to go no matter what your interests are. There is also a massage studio on site, and the massage therapist is excellent. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my stay and can’t wait to visit again soon!

It was a great disappointment. We are Brazilians but we live overseas. This was our last part of our trip back to Brazil after several years, and we decided to stay in this hotel based on the reviews, but it was the worst part of our trip. We stayed five nights. The first night we arrived late. We were offered an upgrade for ~90 BRL per night, but we turned it down as we had everything we needed in our room. Maybe getting that upgrade would have avoided our issues, who knows. We woke up the next morning earlier than expected as we could hear the radio of the cleaning lady outside. We went to have breakfast and reported that to the manager, Ricardo I believe, who promised us he would speak with his team. He was very professional and apologetic. The coffee was OK, and we spent the whole day outside as we had a friend living in Florianópolis. We returned late, it was Friday, and went to sleep. My wife was feeling unwell so she took a "Naldecon noite" (a medicine for flu/cold that makes you sleepy). I woke up again about 3 AM with the sound of doors being slammed. Turns out the doors have those automatic door-closer. But the walls appear to be very thin, so we could hear not only the doors closing, but also the group of friends talking outside for 15 minutes. Eventually I went back to sleep. At a little after 6 PM the cleaning lady woke us both up again, over the sound of "Check out 804, check out 804" coming from their radio. We went down to have breakfast, reported what happened. The manager was not there, and apparently there was a person that was as useful as a paper-weight. I believe his name was Denilson. We told him what happened, while he looked at us with a face of concern. Then told us that we had to have called reception. I explained my wife was still sleeping. Then he told me there was nothing he could do. If that happened again I could call them and they would do something (they could have left a note under a stone and that would have been as useful). Next night, still weekend, and of course people are coming and going all time after midnight. I feel bad for the cleaning staff as apparently their walls are the main issue. Extremely thin, and even when people wouldn't speak we both would wake up to their sounds (I am a heavy sleeper, my wife not so much, but I would be woken by the noise too). Only on Monday the manager was back. He probably read what happened in the log, and came after us to apologize. They told me they could move us to a better room, but then I replied that it was our last night and we did not need it anymore. I thanked him, explained I felt it was an issue with their walls, and that it was very inconvenient. The hotel sent us a cake to apologise for the troubles, but we had already had dinner and we were going to fly in the next morning, so we thanked them again and turned down the cake. I think if the manager had been warned sooner by their staff of what was happening he would have tried to move us to another floor. But in the end we have great memories from our time with our friend and from the beautiful city, but we are never staying at the Porto da Ilha Hotel ever again. Also, the gym is outside a few blocks away. Nice gym, but closes early on Saturday, and does not open on Friday. You can not use pool, nor the classes.

Overall a bad experience. Parking was a nightmare, not only expensive at R$30 extra a night with really tight spots (if you have a large car forget it), but the staff in general behaved horrible, they hit my car the ONLY time I gave them the keys to move it and not only that, since conveniently their cameras angle don’t show the accident, the manager (Roberto) wanted to blame me for it, even when I parked under the supervision of their own crew members and they never saw anything. He should have some empathy with customers instead of being defensive and taking no responsibility for their actions if he wants them to return back. Oh and if that wasn’t enough, last couple days they didn’t even make up the room even though we explicitly left the sign for it outside our room’s door during the entire time we were out. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to enjoy their time in Florianopolis.

Excellent location, newly renovated rooms and very comfortable. The only downside to the the rooms was the noise, we could even hear our neighbors using the bathroom. Breakfast is generous and delicious. Recommended, will return on another visit

Place is nice, location is not ideal (far from beaches and surrounded by noisy establishments), customer service was terrible: - they were not able to provide us with a mean of transportation or a contact to rent. Their best proposal was to walk 30 mins under the sun. NYE is apparently tricky for vehicle rentals in Florianopolis, but they could let clients know in advance or have some emergency contacts to bring in at least a bycicle - ⁠they utterly ignored our request of a spa treatment availability. Just did not reply to our message - ⁠they served us breakfast at 7.40 when we specifically asked to be served at 7.15 given we had a flight to take (which we almost missed). They did not even apologise - their payment system did not work and given the time rush, they had to send a payment link and chased daily again without apologising. Charged two bottles of water which should be complimentary in this kind of establishment

Spa - they “forgot” our reservation, not enough therapists due to high season and lack of communication between shifts at the reception blaming newcomer. Clearly not the service you expect from a boutique 5 star hotel !!!

One of the best hotel experience I ever had. Just absolutely impeccable and the most friendly service you can imagine. But also great rooms and a really good breakfast. You just feel like you have nothing to worry about. We are also absolutely in love with the area of Florianopolis the hotel is in. It feels very safe and the beach town vibe is just great. Just always carry an umbrella, the weather is unpredictable. But in our case that was good, 3 rainy days - according to the forecast - changed into very sunny days. We will absolutely come back!

I am in complete shock and outrage! I booked a room at this hotel through booking.com with free cancellation — everything was confirmed and promised. I made the reservation in June for September dates. But unexpectedly, an amount significantly exceeding the booking cost was charged to my card! Overall, had a very pleasant 3 night stay and would stay here again. Hospitality was friendly and helpful to discover the area. The room was unexpectedly upgraded to the largest size (#1) so we were very appreciative. Good value for an oceanfront property. The room was clean and modernized, and bed full size comfortable king. Ocean views from all rooms. Felt secure, but the sliding glass door lock was a little fussy. Good climate control and hot water. Nice deck access and hammock space. Could use more shade features and plants. No music, so bring your own. TV has music channels, but no pay per view movie channels. Breakfast was average, and included. Beach is steps from the property, and relatively clean with a life guard on duty every day. There is surf here and it can have rip currents, so be careful. You can walk for miles on rhe beach if desired, although the sand becomes coarse to the south and not much to see. Beach to the north is softer sand. There is an access point to inflatable boats within a 20-30 min walk, to take you to campeche Island if desired. Not much night life or good restaurants nearby. But within a 20min uber ride to the other side of the island.

Absolutely wonderful. We stayed here for a few days and it was really a great experience. Very quiet, clean, the owners are fantastic. The breakfast is good and the location is perfect. Oh, and the hot water works :)

We had a great time as a family. Food is good though a bit repetitive especially breakfast. Staff is mostly friendly. Apartments are great. The SPA personnel is awesome and Macarena is the best!

Food is absolutely amazing, staff are extra kind, always caring about everything, the hotel is "pé na areia" which means that it is right in front of the beach, the views are absolutely outrageous, the beach is really comfy and there is also a indoor pool which really helps out when the weather is cold or rainy. The rooms are really good, beds are comfortable, there are some really big rooms for really good prices! Reccomend the hotel a lot.

This was simply the most wonderful place to stay, with attentive and friendly staff, breathtaking views and food and service unlike I have experienced. Our apartment had beautiful views over the garden and beach and was looked after daily by excellent house keepers, fresh towels daily, changed the bed, restocked the fridge and even put our discarded things away! The room was spacious with a lovely main room with small kitchen. I love Brazilian breakfasts, and here they did not disappoint! Such an exquisite selection from pão de queijo to scrambled eggs, traditional cheeses, fruit, cake and something specially made each morning to expand your waist! The service was five star with the staff getting to know your name and treat you as a friend as opposed to just another paying guest. There are too many to mention here, but three stand out as being so attentive, Jones, Bruno and Esmeralda who spoke excellent English and worked hard to speak to us and made sure we had everything we needed! The reception team always made sure your car was ready to go and they put it away upon our return. There is no doubt we would love to come back here; the accommodation was exceptional, the staff amazing and the weather perfect. Simply paradise.

We’ve been told after a few complaints that we reserved a standard room, meaning a inferior customer service given to us, the Netflix don’t work unless you log with your private one, the building next to our STANDARD room was being refurbished, so the noises made we’re not pleasant to say the least . The tv was not working and had to be replaced and the communication between shifts were poor or inexistente. Low season the restaurant is closed at 8 pm lettoyou with no option other than going around or asking for taxis. Positive: beautiful spot, nice staff. I would not recommend the place, considering that Florianópolis has a lot to offer for the same .

Even if they took long to get the service I enjoyed their great service and smile. Staff at the restaurant unfortunately need training on how to handle expectations: got an extremely salty plate and an extremely well done steak- terrible for Brazilian standards. Staff at the reception unprepared for a maintenance electricity cut, I was advised to go do tourism when I was supposed to attend two virtual meetings. You must improve the standard of hospitality.

Although the manager removed the charges, no sincere apology was offered, nor was any attempt made to make amends, such as offering a complimentary drink. This lack of consideration left us feeling upset. I visit Florianópolis annually and would love to return to this hotel, but the dampness issue is a serious concern that requires the attention of upper management. The only aspect of my stay that lived up to five-star standards was the dinner, which was excellent and well-executed. Problems: We got the best room ocean front the most expensive like 900 reais per day and 1- The sofa in the room was filthy full of dirty spots and the lounge chair had 2 holes in it. For the price and being a “5 stars” they should throw their sofas in the dump and buy new ones. 2- The bathroom light was very weak so it was too dark to put make up on ,really ridiculous. 3- They have a roof top where they rent to third parties for their events so on a Friday we could not sleep because of the loud noise of the music and their DJ! That started at 10:30pm until 3:00AM and they did nothing about it although I complained 4 times! 4- They have a cigar bar in the entrance and although they say you can’t smoke everybody smokes there and the smoke smell comes to the hotel lobby. I have asthma and my husband allergies so wasn’t fun. 5- nobody speaks English in that hotel. They have a big crew and we only met one person on the last day that could speak English. 6- We tried to enter their restaurant for a happy hour on a Friday and they asked for 150 Reais $ charge for entrance only and we were supposed to pay extra for drinks so we decided not to participate. I never saw that before. And me and my husband have traveled more then 20 countries. So be prepared to paid a lot of money just for the location!!!

Some feedback Restaurant - my first order for meal was chicken but I was told the restaurant was missing chicken. This is a very basic type of food and I was surprised that the Slaviero Essential did not have it. Breakfast - very poor offering of meals, low variety of cakes and fresh fruits. We found expired fruit yogurts twice. Restaurant air conditioning - doors kept open reducing the air cooling in the saloon while the outside temperature was around 28-30 Celsius. In this particular, the waiters seemed to be a bit distracted or even untrained. Staff insufficient to meet the guests at breakfast. No hydro workout in the swimming pool. Rooms were fine, clean and organized. Parking worked fine too. Beach support service was good.

Very nice hotel well situated in the downtown area on the island of Florianopolis. Next to a nice mall, restaurants and the walking/bike path along the beautiful bay. Well appointed, clean rooms. Spacious. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.

The complimentary breakfast is fair, but a little too simple. Internet connectivity is also complimentary, but very slow and keeps disconnecting every now and then. The bed mattress is too stiff. TL;DR: Good structure, bad at dealing with problems. During the stay, there was a problem with the power supply in the neighborhood. My room and some others had a problem and the power didn't come back. So the front desk tried to 'solve' the problem downgrading my room and taking me from the 11th floor with a great ocean view to the third overlooking a restaurant, saying that it was the only one available. I had to go back and complain one more time to ask for, at least, a discount, since the room was worst than the one i paid for. Only then they 'noticed' what room category I was and then the room next to mine (on the 11th floor) became available. The power failure was not their fault, but the way they handled was way worst than I expected for a renowned hotel chain. Other than that, the room was good, great ocean view on higher floors, the amenities were good as well. The fitness center was nicely equipped. If it wasn't for the described problem, it would be a five star review.

Avoid at all costs. The mattress in the room feels like you are sleeping on a trampoline and not a mattress. Way too hard. The bathrooms are poorly designed and have issues with humidity, mold, and flies. You can't flush your toilet paper, which is beyond disgusting. The lobby and restaurant both play music so loud you can't even hear yourself think. Forget having a calm breakfast or even walking through the lobby quietly. There's no reason to abuse the customers and employees with the auditory assault. The rooms were supposed to have soundproof windows. They absolutely don't. Traffic noise kept me up most nights and there was not a big difference in levels when the windows were open vs. shut. The sheets are terrible and the blanket for the king size bed was too small. Be aware this is NOT a highend hotel and very overpriced for what they offer. The bed was lumpy, bad pillows ,black mold on room curtains, green mold on all outdoor cushions, bad lighting in room. Rust in the private pool. They don’t get the outside furniture uncovered (don’t know how bad those look). The walk to the beach is very steep,this is not mentioned on their site. They did post on their site about having a shuttle and when we arrived, it was getting repaired, transportation is not easy to get, not good for tourists from out of country to go explore. This is not a 5 star hotel. We stayed one night after arriving from another country. We book for 2 weeks and paid in full. Not even partial refund given. We were not happy about conditions and as we were told the CEO did not care and no amount of refund would be given. This is the most expensive hotel on this is and it is way over priced. The CEO needs to learn what a 5 star is. The staff we did deal with were good and this is the fault of the owners not caring and only want the money. Stunning, stylish, truly modern design hotel in the middle of a jungle. The rooms are sleek and spacious, with great natural cosmetics, comfy beds with exquisite bedding, and completely soundproof. Food was amazing and there was a great wine and cocktails selection. The location is prime, very close to the most beautiful beaches and the trendiest spots in Jurerê, but far enough to escape all the noise. The only downside is that it is quite a walk from the beach. But we will definitely be coming back. Amazing experience.

The noise was unbearable – it felt like there was no soundproofing at all. The hotel is old, and the staff, unfortunately, did not go above and beyond to address the issues we faced during our stay. We experienced uncomfortable moments with the front desk staff, who made us feel unwelcome, especially since we were there as a couple. As a banker and my partner, a manager with Qantas Airlines, we’ve had our fair share of hotel stays, but this one was an absolute disappointment. It’s safe to say we will never return to this hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

This Slaviero location, on the bay in downtown Florianópolis, is a solid choice for those staying in this area. The rooms are in the same league as, if not slightly superior to, those at a Holiday Inn or Ibis. It has a pool, a good restaurant (with an above average breakfast) and gym (with a squeaky treadmill). It's close enough to the main Florianópolis attractions and relatively close to the airport. It's not, however, in the proximity of the beaches. This is a business hotel, with comfortable rooms, efficient service and the amenities you're probably expecting.

My wife and I stayed here for a week for my sister's wedding at a nearby beach venue. This hotel is well situated, close to many restaurants, shopping centers, supermarkets, and businesses. Additionally, taxis are readily available to come pick you up and take you anywhere on the island :) Unfortunately, the hotel lost my laundry while we were there, including part of the outfit I was supposed to wear on my sister's special day. After much back and forth over several days, they offered to compensate us for the lost items, but not for the inconvenience. They did the bare minimum. Overall a decent stay, but I'd probably stick to the laundromat around the corner next time!

They did this to many many people, and owe millions of dollars to the guests and local merchant that they stole from, failing to honor their commitments. Sad and disappointing.

The quality of this Selina is really bad for the price you pay. I booked a micro room for a whole week and really wish I hadn’t. The building is very old and outdated. The AC in my room freezes over and leaks, which makes it even more humid inside the room. In fact the room is so humid, the bed sheets are damp, which makes sleeping here unpleasant. One of the two toilets in the female bathroom was clogged over with toilet paper and feces and they didn’t fix it until two days later. The restaurant rarely actually has the food available that’s on their menu, and it’s also overpriced. The location is also pretty isolated so you have to take an Uber each time you want to go eat somewhere with decent food. The Wi-Fi cuts in and out, so you get kicked out of video meetings for work. Overall, it was a really disappointing Selina location, and I complained about everything to a man at the reception and all he did was nod his head and say “OK.”

It's great location to for peace and fun. The food is nothing to brag about nor the night time service, as they are a bit understaffed. The Selina app does not function properly so don't expect to use or gain points. Francine was great, she helped me check in and helped ease my frustration, and also gave some great recommendations for activities. The reception staff was always friendly and VERY helpful both.

The private rooms are amazing and very reasonably priced, and the best part — it has direct access to the beach! The staff are super friendly, and a special shout-out goes to Bia, whose energy and vibe can brighten anyone’s day. The hostel has a separate lockers area, which means guests aren’t disturbed when people pack up early in the morning — such a thoughtful detail. I also loved the beautiful shared spaces. There’s a great area for guests to gather and do activities, and the shared kitchen is very well equipped, making it easy to cook and socialize. If I had to point out some downsides: the washroom cleanliness could be improved a bit, and a breakfast buffet option would be a great addition. On one of the nights, the shared rooms were freezing since there was no operational heating system, though I imagine this wouldn’t be a problem during summer months. Went to the sea turtle 🐢 reservation center which is just give minutes away. A little town with a good bakery and you can feel an island like vacation. Place booked up so didn't get to stay overnight.

I have been in this hostel twice; once two and a half years ago, and once again this week. This is probably the best hostel I've been at. Facility and staff wise, this place is run perfectly. It's clean, the infrastructure is functioning , and it has clear rules (like no noise after a certain hour) that are enforced to make sure everyone can fit there. People wise, max the owner is very nice, and the volunteers are extremely cool, also I don't know why, I always meet the coolest travelers there. The lovely experiences and unforgettable people really made my time there truly incredible, thank you guys. Hope to come back soon!!!

Geckos exceeded my expectations for a hostel. The first impression of the staff was amazing, as they welcomed me so warmly, and I was able to check into my room early. The staff then recommended a wonderful cafe for breakfast. The owner of the hostel is so hands on and an amazing man. It is clear that he really cares about his establishment and staff. He also hosts wonderful Brazilian BBQs and pizza nights. Geckos is so clean, as the cleaners clean throughout the day. I can not say enough about how awesome this hostel is, and I know if I'm traveling to Florianopolis again, this will be where I stay. Thank you for making my vacation so lovely.

We stayed here for my brother in law's wedding. Both our rooms and the reception were here so that was a great convenience. The staff is super warm, friendly and professional. I would stay here again in a heartbeat because of the amazing experience and fantastic value. 6 out of 5!!! :)

Stayed here for one night during our paragliding trip. Quiet, clean, cozy and pretty - we were very happy. And Jessica from the reception was extremely helpful. Would definitely recommend this place.
