Hamburger restaurant
American restaurant
Family restaurant
Louis' Lunch is a small, historic lunch spot in New Haven that proudly claims to have invented the hamburger. Established in 1895, it still serves the iconic sandwich on toast with only cheese, tomato, and onion as garnish. The current owner, Jeff Lassen, is the great-grandson of the founder and continues to follow the original recipe. The restaurant's interior has a traditional feel and features original cast-iron grills from 1898.
Louis’ lunch some of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life. I feel like the employee should be annoyed at all the videos and pictures people take but they are super friendly. They make great quality food. The atmosphere is awesome because it feels like you just walked into 1922. There is a bathroom and if the place is packed seating could be a little tight. There is public parking on the street out front or side streets nearby and the prices are pretty decent. Everyone who visits New England must visit this place remember not to ask them for ketchup.
Abner B — Google review
Stopped by Louis’ Lunch to finally try what’s often called “the birthplace of the hamburger.” Atmosphere was definitely cool — it’s got those old-school, nostalgic vibes that make you feel like you’re stepping back in time. You can tell there’s history here, and that part was fun to take in. That said… the burger itself? Just okay. It’s cooked in the original cast iron grills, served on white toast with onion and tomato — no ketchup or condiments allowed. I get the tradition, but taste-wise, it didn’t really blow me away. Pretty mid, to be honest. The potato salad was actually the standout — super creamy, well-seasoned, and felt like it was made fresh. Service wasn’t fast, and the space is tiny, so there’s not a ton of room to hang if it gets busy. Price was decent — not overpriced, especially given the legacy — but this is more of a check-it-off-the-list kind of spot than somewhere I’d rush back to. Glad I tried it, but overall, it’s more about the nostalgia than the food.
Dwight K — Google review
Honestly I would give a million stars for this place! It's the best burger spot in the country hands down! There's no comparison. I live in NJ and drive up to Connecticut just for the burgers.. it's that good! Great atmosphere everyone is nice and welcoming. Highly recommend trying it out! The burgers are delicious and made to perfection. Cheese Burger with tomato and onion is a must! You won't be disappointed, enjoy!
Bianca F — Google review
Pretty good burger reminiscent of my burgers I had growing up. Very basic flavor profile. I'd say didn't live up to the hype, but you gotta have one anyone! Your mileage may vary. Tight seating inside and tons of beverages to choose from. The stand out was the delicious potato salad!
Nick C — Google review
A true piece of American history! Louis’ Lunch is unlike any burger place I’ve been to. The atmosphere is charming and nostalgic, and you can really feel the legacy behind every detail. The burgers are simple, cooked on antique vertical broilers, and packed with old-school flavor. No ketchup, no frills—just quality beef, toast, and tradition. If you’re a fan of food history or just want a unique experience, this is a must-visit in New Haven. The staff is friendly and the vibe is authentic. Highly recommend!
Sharky — Google review
I will preface this review by saying that this establishment is a local legacy and a historical monument. It was established in 1895 and has been family run since then with its claim to fame being that it is the birthplace of the Hamburger. Local people love it. Now these burgers are no frills, just meat. None of that fancy shit your gunna get in some of the new gastropubs or chain burger joints. They pride themselves in serving a classic hamburger that is made with a proprietary blend of five cuts of meat, ground fresh daily. It is served on white toast with cheese and only offer onion and tomato as garnishes. I had a chance to watch the cook make our burgers and he put it in the grill/meat cooker and the only seasoning that he used was salt and pepper. Now if you like the taste of ground beef then you'll love these burgers. They were well made and tasted like a nice juicy piece of ground beef but that was it. So would I waste an hour for these burgers, no I wouldn't. Now if your around Yale and have other things to do then you may wanna stop in and place an order to go and walk around for a while then come back for your order. It's worth a taste but in my opinion over hyped for the amount of time you have to wait.
Verenisse C — Google review
You come here, you let them do it their way. They’ve been doing it for over 100 years so there is nothing to do but trust that the burger is going to blow your mind with its simplicity but also how delicious it is. The staff loves to make quick and witty jokes. Just go in with respect to an establishment who does it their own way and ONLY their way. If you can do that you’ll have an unforgettable memory and you’ll be able to join a club of many people before you.
Tim M — Google review
This place is small and cozy. The menu is simple with a hamburger using sandwich bread and your add on options. Potato salad is a must to try. Don't ask for ketchup, trust me you won't need condiments. The hamburger is flavorful and made to perfection.

Falafel restaurant
Israeli restaurant
Restaurant
Mamoun's Falafel Restaurant is a well-established Middle Eastern eatery in New Haven, known for its authentic and traditional offerings. The restaurant's classic menu features favorites like falafel, shawarma, kebabs, hummus, and baba ganouj. Its close proximity to Yale University makes it popular among students, creating a lively atmosphere. The restaurant offers a variety of dining options including single dishes, plates, special combinations, and take-away sandwiches.
Mamoun’s: A Falafel Spot Worth the Hype Mamoun’s is hands down one of the best falafel spots on the East Coast. I visited Connecticut from Maryland during Covid, and my friend insisted we stop by. He said it was really good—but to be honest, I didn’t put too much stock in his excitement. As a true foodie, I’ve learned that everyone’s taste buds aren’t created equal, and that’s okay. I went in with zero expectations. But this food? It knocked my socks off. Everything was fresh. The owner was warm and welcoming. The hummus had a little zing to it that I still think about. The salad? Crisp and flavorful. The falafel? Perfection. Ever since that day, I’ve been dreaming about Mamoun’s. I promised myself that before this summer ends, I’ll be back. In fact—I’m planning a full-on falafel tour. Because when the food is that good, it deserves a journey. - Chef Green
Chef G — Google review
This restaurant is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, the employees were kind, the atmosphere was great, and they had a sizable vegan menu. Almost half of the food options are vegan, the menu itself has a full vegan section, and they mark which pastries/desserts are vegan as well. I also did not run into small portions as other reviewers noted. I ordered the falafel plate, hummus/pita, and some pistachio baklava. They were all prepared quickly and were fair amounts. The problem for me was that in decades of eating hummus, I have never encountered hummus this acidic. The hummus tasted as though a lemon had been squeezed directly into it. I mostly just gave up on it and ate the pita plain. The falafel was good, though nothing out of the ordinary. The baklava was sweet and deciduous. So, overall, I would recommend this place to any vegan looking got some Middle Eastern/Mediterranean fare. I just might warn them to steer clear of the hummus.
EGKunz — Google review
I had high expectations for this place, but it didn’t quite live up to them. The food was just okay—not exceptional—and I personally think Olive Tree in Milford does a better job with Middle Eastern cuisine. They offered outdoor seating in the summer, but it got uncomfortably hot, and the seating itself wasn’t very comfortable. Inside, the restaurant felt a bit dingy and uninviting. On top of that, the staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful.
Jagrithi M — Google review
This is a great mediterranean spot not far from downton. The platters with hummus and baba ghanouj are must-tries; we got both the one with meat and without meat, and they were great. The chicken shawarma wrap was good but somewhat small given what you pay for. Also, note that you need to go up to the counter to order. It seems like this spot is a staple in the area; two old friends met up for food while we were there. We overheard one of them saying they'd been coming for decades.
Viggy V — Google review
The syrian lamb plate is one of the most pathetic things I've ever received from a restaurant. It is basically a 4 oz (if that) terrible tasting lamb puck in a watery, lifeless cream sauce. It is served alongside about 10 cold pieces of pita. That is it! They charge $24 for it on Uber Eats too! I knew this place was known for small portion sizes and had been losing its grace with the people of New Haven but this was just unbelievable.
Brendan C — Google review
Terrible, tasteless food! Ordered uber eats. Lamb shawarma sandwich with add on fries…. $2.50 for 4pc of fries! Falafel platter was supposed to be falafel balls. We received falafel HALF balls. So essentially half the portion for the same money! Absolutely ridiculous! Save your money and go somewhere else!
Janeta Y — Google review
The staff seems rude. We entered place at 12 and she said we are closing in 10 min also the staff didnt take our order said to do self check out. While other guest came they didnt say any such thing. Seems.the staff is racially discriminating. While the owner latter said its open till 1 am. So staff need to improve

Mamoun’s New Haven is a great casual place- Middle Eastern food, relaxed, friendly service, great food! 5 stars not in a “it’s fancy” sense- they’re terrific at doing what they do right.

Claire's Corner Copia is a popular spot on the campus, offering kosher vegetarian dishes with a variety of Mexican options available all day. The restaurant features a homely atmosphere and serves its signature Lithuanian Coffee Cake along with gluten-free options like muffins and cookies. One of the highlights is the Fire Island Sandwich, known for its satisfying taste. Locals and students highly recommend the Lithuanian coffee cake and the ricotta chocolate chip cake as must-try desserts.
A really fun corner café with excellent vegan and vegetarian options. The entire café is vegetarian, and almost everything can be modified to be vegan. A good portion of the menu is vegan already. They also have clearly marked vegan baked goods in their own section. Everything tastes delicious, the grande burrito I got could feed an entire house! The staff was extremely courteous and the owner was present and happy to see every customer. I would highly recommend this place to any vegan or vegetarian visiting New Haven.
EGKunz — Google review
A good place to drop by if you're looking for a fully vegetarian spot. The tofu is soft but the flavors are on the generic and bland side, however the food is very healthy overall. The atmosphere is also great for studying with plenty of sunlight. Staff is very friendly also!
Aditya M — Google review
Anytime we visit family in New Haven area, we make a point of having lunch at Claire's, especially after a night of pizza! Order at the counter, bus your table. Food is fabulous and healthy, portions are large. Tip - salads and soups come with a small loaf of bread, you can ask to leave it off your order. I didn't try and substitute, just didn't want it because the salad is large and has croutons. You can get a to-go box for leftovers. Tea selection was good and water was hot.
Lois M — Google review
Had dinner during visit to Yale. Loved that the restaurant has lots of vegetarian choices. Lots of pizza, pasta and salad options. Made fresh . Friendly staff. Lovely decor and ambiance.
Sonali J — Google review
Made this our #1 to try for an overnight in town. The place itself reminds me of coop restaurants from the NE and WC. Seems like the entire team is behind their service and what they're serving up. The whole place feels like an oasis of rooted morale in good service, community, and a warm welcome vibe that is perfect! Ordered a Fire Island sandwich. Massive! Had to wrap up half and eat it later (sooner than later cuz it was too good to wait). Wish they were at home. But definitely stopping by on our next trip to the area.

İ like the place. And ı like the variety of the food. Cant belive there is artichoke stuffed! I wish i can try artichoke, lazagna a few more things… The omlette was huge! I only didn’t like one thing is; they didn’t bring our meals at the same time. When i had half of my omlette the other order arrive.
Basak — Google review
The selection is amazing and the servers are SO sweet!!! Super quick service, clean. I got the carrot cake wich was HUGE and delic, with big chunks of nuts. Great smoothie assortment at we got the blueberry banana.
Nicole A — Google review
Overall seems like a nice vegetarian/vegan spot but did not like what I ordered (roasted vegetable salad). Except for the one asparagus spear on the salad, all of the vegetables (mostly just carrots) were raw and crunchy. And even with tahini dressing and hummus on it, it had very little flavor. My partner ordered a burrito that was also not very good. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things as their menu was very extensive and everything sounded good.

Atticus Bookstore Cafe is a charming glass-fronted bookstore and cafe that has been a beloved fixture in New Haven for over 40 years. It offers a cozy spot to enjoy coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, and even dinner options while surrounded by shelves of novels, biographies, and art exhibits. The cafe serves up three homemade soups daily, including a vegetarian option, along with an array of salads, sandwiches, entrees, and sides.
Great coffee drinks and pastries. Some seats inside and are pretty busy since it is nearby galleries and Yale buildings. ✨☀️🍞Morning bun was really delicious. Rich flavor with crispy and pliable texture. Highly recommended to cinnamon lovers. 🩷☕️🥛(seasonal) pink peppercorn and butterscotch latte was smooth with creative flavors. Not too sweet with a hint of spicy pepper! The corn-based cookie (forgot the name) was interesting, unique flavor. It was chewy in the center and hard at the edge. Not my style but it was ok.
Julia H — Google review
Near LITTLE book store with small cafe. Many different genres of books along with miscellaneous items to purchase. Prices seem reasonable. Half of building is small cafe with food and drink. Daughter got an iced vanilla latte (they don’t normally have cold foam, but did put cold foam from a seasonal drink on it) I had the Arnie Palmie. Both drinks were fine.
Lisa H — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to Atticus Bookstore Cafe! The bookstore is so cute and stocked with journals, puzzles, different genres of books, and felt pop culture people ornaments! I ended up buying a Freddie Mercury and Dolly Parton felt ornament because I could not resist. The person working the bookstore was so friendly and knowledgeable, and seeing my interest in the Freddie Mercury ornament even showed me a new Freddie Mercury puzzle they just got in stock. The food and drink from the cafe was excellent, and speed of service was phenomenal. The breakfast sandwich was delicious-nice over-easy egg in the middle and a great portion of crispy bacon on fresh greens all in between a fresh and toasted potato bun. The cold brew was strong and flavorful. There's plentiful seating in a very pleasant atmosphere to enjoy your breakfast in.
Zie M — Google review
I loved this place. Been there for at least 2/3 times while visiting Yale. Great coffee, good fresh bakery items, and great collection of books. Employees from both cafe and book sections are great. Loved their sandwich, cookies and muffins. The place is always very busy and you have to wait in a long queue because of its proximity to museum and campus but it’s worth waiting for.
Shahtaj N — Google review
Turkey club is bomb! Coffee is alright, and service is usually pretty good. Gets a bit crammed inside sometimes though, not tons of space.
Skyler N — Google review
I drank a very delicious latte. I really enjoyed it, the staff were caring and sweet. I tried the healthy chocolate bar sold at the cash register. It is also very enjoyable to have it together with the book section. The only thing that disturbed me was the fact that the seating areas were separate and there were beggars coming in. They should take this into consideration!
Ekin A — Google review
Coffee - very good Hot chocolate- very good 4 slices of sourdough toast for $7 - GROSS SHRINKFLATION because they cut 2 slices from the loaf, cut each of them in 2 and called it 4 slices. When there was a lull and nobody in line, I brought it to their attention that i was missing 2 slices, they did not agree. Ironically there were many books on the shelf that could have been referenced… Never again. Too many other options.
Jeffrey L — Google review
This was such a cute place!!!! The pastries were absolutely DELICIOUS. They tasted fresh and really really good. The staff there was super nice and helpful as well! I asked for book recommendations and the lady at the cashier helped me right away. (will definitely buy those books.) Their books are also nicely organized into sections, which I also really loved, along with even a section for "staff recommendations" which I thought was a smart idea. The atmosphere was super cute and cozy. 100% recommend stopping by and having a quick pastry or food and maybe even check out some books!

Mecha Noodle Bar is a fantastic food spot with amazing customer service and flavorful food options. The space may be small, but it can accommodate groups, including families with babies. The KFC bun and tonkatsu broth are highly recommended, while the pho is hot and fresh. The atmosphere is hip and lively, with music playing at a decent volume to cater to an active crowd.
I always enjoy Mecca. I tried to go at least once a month. The food is amazing, always comes out perfect temperature and anytime I have an issue. They are very quick to fix any errors they make but normally all of my food comes out perfect. It can get busy sometimes when the girls students come back from break and or are starting this new school year. But this is definitely one of my favorite dinner spots. I would also say it’s kid friendly as well! My kids enjoy the chicken ramen and its serving size is plant to share !
Samantha M — Google review
Mecha Noodle never disappoints! It’s always consistent. The appetizers, drinks, and spicy ramen are great. The music, the amazing food, and service; it’s a gem! We been to the New Haven and Fairfield location but prefer the New Haven vibe.
Eva J — Google review
First of all, our server got our order wrong. We thought we read it wrong while eating and We got to know about it only after we got our bills. Server was not rude but annoyed that we asked about it. (We did not complain) We ended up ordering additional ingredients because we did not get what we wanted. Unfortunately all the meats’ quality was bad. Overall food taste is average. Not terrible but not great. Note that it’s pretty hard to mess up with noodle dish so yeah. I’d give 2/5 for NYC standard and 2.5/5 for Connecticut standard
Mayline — Google review
I usually enjoy the food here — it’s consistently good, and that hasn’t changed. However, the service experience really missed the mark this time. There was a long wait, and no one came by to check in or see if I needed anything while I was waiting for my to-go order. What really disappointed me was when I got home and opened my order of pho broth (around $7–$9, ordered last Thursday) — the container wasn’t even filled halfway. For the price, I expected a proper portion. It felt careless and honestly not worth what I paid. Good food, but the lack of attention to service and shorted portion on a takeout order left me really disappointed.
Cherie L — Google review
My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Mecha Noodle Bar! Our final server, Matt, was an absolute all-star — super helpful with tips and recommendations. The atmosphere was chill and welcoming, the ramen was awesome, and the prices were very reasonable. The biggest surprise? The banana pudding — we didn’t order it, but it was gifted to us and turned out to be delicious! 🍌 Thank you for making our visit special and giving my daughter and me such a memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
KaNard D — Google review
A wonderful spot to get some ramen, especially for vegans. The menu has one clearly marked vegan option amongst the ramen and several vegan appetizers and sides. The staff asked about allergies or dietary restrictions with no prompting. The food itself was prepared quickly and was quite delicious. The only downside is that the tofu add-on for the vegan ramen is not braised or flavored in any way. That being said, the tofu still soaks up the flavor of the rest of the dish well enough. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. It is not the cheapest Asian food in New Haven, but it is certainly one of the tastiest options!
EGKunz — Google review
4.5/5. Great vibes and though I usually prefer pho over ramen the SPICY BEEF ramen with tendon was the bomb (perfect amount of heat and that EGG was the tastiest egg I have ever had)! The KFC bao was delicious but I didn't love the poutine. Went for lunch and though it was a bit more expensive and took a bit too long to get the bill I left very full and happy.
Tim S — Google review
I visited this restaurant over the weekend traveling from DC and I’m really glad I chose it. I’m usually not a dumpling person but you must try the red oil dumplings! They were packed with flavor and I honestly could’ve ate the whole plate whole. I’m still thinking about them. The ramen was pretty okay I wish the presentation was better and the taste was pretty alright. The service was also great super nice staff.

If you're on the hunt for authentic Southern cuisine in New England, look no further than Sandra's Next Generation. This charming family-owned restaurant on Congress Avenue serves up a delightful array of soul food classics that will transport your taste buds straight to the South. With customizable plate options, diners can indulge in an impressive selection of proteins like fried chicken, smothered pork chops, and catfish.
AMAZING food and super friendly employees/owner! Didn’t get a chance to get a pic of my plate I inhaled it so fast but caught my MILs. Outside seating, clean and comfortable. Filling specials ✨

11-16-24 On A Positive Note: I love the sweet potato cornbread. The cashier and hostess/ order taker are always pleasant. I decided to stop here and grab my dinner since I was in New Haven. I order my usual church plate. Unfortunately, the black eyed peas were hard and dry and the chicken just wasn’t what am I use to from this establishment. I’m very disappointed. I live in Waterbury- the only reason I didn’t go return the plate. I’m am on the fence about giving it another try. Usually, the food is really good. Perhaps there was a new cook?🤷‍♀️ A Daily Diner
Atiya S — Google review
Let me just say Sandra’s blew me away. As someone who’s a pretty tough critic when it comes to food (especially Southern food), I went in with high expectations... and they managed to exceed them. We tried a little bit of everything: smothered pork chops, fried chicken, collard greens, lamb chops, catfish, yams, mac and cheese, rice, green beans, and salmon. Not a single bite was undercooked, overcooked, or lacking seasoning. Everything was perfectly balanced and tasted just like something you’d get straight from a kitchen down South. The flavors were rich, comforting, and clearly made with love. Honestly the peach cobbler is better than any I’ve had in Georgia (and I’ve had my fair share). But the real showstopper? The banana pudding. I don’t even have words for how good it was. Creamy and flavorful, just perfect. Sandra’s has officially earned a spot on my go to list. I’ll definitely be back.
Juliette P — Google review
This is such a gem. I loved the food, from the ribs, to the rice, to the yams. So delicious. We drove in from a neighboring state. I crave coming here every few months. The catfish was delicious and so were the fresh drinks. This isn’t a dine in spot and the wait was not that bad. I enjoyed it overall. Parking is easy.
Whitney G — Google review
My experience at Sandra's Next Generation was VERY disappointing. I ordered the "Church Plate", which comes with 4 sides. The portion size of the sides was literally no more than 2 tablespoons. I paid $26. No one likes to feel ripped off. And, to make matters worse, the sides weren't flavorful AT ALL. I don't understand all the hype with this restaurant. Anyone who thinks the food is good at Sandra's Next Generation clearly hasn't experienced "good" soul food. Please do better Sandra.

I dnt know if we caught them on a bad day or if all the hype folded the excitement because it was a solid letdown. The order: Fried chicken/BBQ smothered FC/ mac&cheese/candied yams/greens/ caribbean rice/corn bread/pineapple coconut cake FC was a little dry, but fried well and cooked through. Just kind of a basic batter and if these birds are brined in advance its not w/ aromatics. Mac&Cheese again was ok, just missing real deep cheese flaOK, and one note The yams were really really sweet like the sweet tea and super heavy on the nutmeg/clove Greens, if slow simmered w/hocks I couldnt tell. I was hunting for that really smokey pork flavor and it just wasn't what I expected. The caribbean rice was fire! And the best thing of everything tbh the only reason why I gave 4 🌟 The cornbread, a lil dry but may have had pineapple in it my company mentioned which would be a nice touch. The cake to end things was mostly frosting so we barley made a dent in it. Sandra's not bad, its better than most any southern place in CT but it doesnt stand up to some of the best spots in SC/GA imho

Went here for the first time and we really enjoyed the food. The banana pudding cake was awsome. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy and flavourful. Lemonade was sweet and tart and the mint added a nice touch. We ate outside because we had a two hour drive back home. It was worth the trip. Thank you

Pitaziki Mediterranean Grill is a contemporary counter-serve restaurant that offers build-your-own Mediterranean rice bowls, salads, pitas, and wraps. The grill provides a variety of flavors and fresh ingredients to create nourishing meals. Customers appreciate the fast-casual setup and the ability to customize their orders. The meat combo is highly recommended for its generous portion size and fresh, flavorful ingredients. Additionally, the soft pita bread and amazing hummus are standout menu items.
Loved the giant salad. They had so many delicious veggies and sauces to choose from.
Paul U — Google review
I ordered a combo plate which per the description included fries, rice, chicken, gyro, falafel and toppings. I received no falafel, no fries, no sauce, and the toppings were extremely limited (a tablespoon of chickpeas, one grape leaf). The box wasn’t properly sealed and it was broken, so upon opening my stapled bag and trying to get my food out it spilled all over the bag and the floor. It’s the first time I’ve ordered from there and unfortunately it’ll be my last.

I find that it is helpful to search “Halal near me” on google maps when you need a good place to eat, and this restaurant proves that method. Very nice place, make your own platter with all the toppings highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious! Generous portions of meat, hummus, and fillings. Plus you can add roasted cauliflower as an add on which is brilliant. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such amazing flavorful food! We ordered the veggie combo meal and absolutely loved it! It was extremely flavorful and filling. The service was quick and staff were friendly. There wasn't much waiting time when we went and the portions were super generous. Don't miss out this place when you are in and around Yale/Ikea.

Food is too oily and the way they packaged takeout is absurd. They put everything together in a single box with sauce making everything moist. Try and keep up the standards with the amount you charge. Not going to order from here ever.

A quick, large-serving, and delicious Mediterranean local “sweetgreen-styled” restaurant. Great place to grab a quick meal during our visit of Yale University. Staff so friendly and the serving size will for sure feed an hungry soul well.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been eating here for the last 5 years, the food is simply outstanding. Every dish is made with the freshest ingredients, and you can taste the quality in every bite... Customer service is exceptional. The staff is incredibly attentive and genuinely care about your dining experience. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and are more than happy to make recommendations if you’re unsure what to order. Whether you're dining in or taking out, the service is prompt, courteous, and always with a smile. It’s clear that the team at Pitaziki takes great pride in what they do, and it shows in both the food and the service. Pitaziki is more than just a meal, it’s a culinary experience that leaves you feeling satisfied and eager to return. Whether you’re a longtime lover of Mediterranean food or trying it for the first time, Pitaziki will exceed your expectations. The combination of top-notch food quality and impeccable customer service makes it a must-visit spot in New Haven. Five stars, without a doubt! Btw, great job on social media platforms! Love the new videos posted and great marketing that’s been done recently!

Sherkaan Indian Street Food is a charming and trendy restaurant located in New Haven, CT. It offers a modern twist on traditional Central and South Indian street cuisine, served in a funky and exotic setting. The restaurant features private patio seating with umbrellas and outdoor heaters, creating a delightful dining experience for lunch or dinner.
This place is located right in the heart of Yale University. It is clean, with a nice atmosphere and you can pick to sit inside or outside. The food was very good and the portions were pretty good and filling. We ended up taking half of it home. Their samosas were amazing by the way. Truly a lovely place.

Stumbled upon this place while searching for desi food near Yale. Tried the chaat dog, masala dosa, dahi puri and cabbage salad. Everything was flavorful, but not packed with masalas. The plating, ambiance, service, and decor were exceptional. I tried all vegetarian items since the food is not halal. I definitely recommend this restaurant to people looking for American Indian fusion food with a fun vibe.

Absolutely loved the place. Even though we had to wait an hour to get seated it was definitely worth the wait. The place is bustling with Yale crowd and there is never a dull moment. We enjoyed the biryani and wings we ordered and our server was extremely friendly. I would definitely come back for more.

We went to dine in at this restaurant late afternoon on a Sunday. It was packed but we were able to get a table outside. The server is very friendly and was able to explain the menu well. we got Samosa chaat that was filling (taste could’ve been ), veg Hakka noodles which were good, but definitely not typical street style noodles, Pav Bhaji which was very tasty. We also got plain rice that was very flavorful. Definitely recommend!
Mrinalini B — Google review
Food is delicious. Servers are friendly and attentive. The only reason why I’m giving them 3⭐️ is because of their business practice of limiting diners to their dining experience to 2 hours. We had a reservation for 5:30. We get there, the host checks us in and immediately states “We’re going to need that table by 7:15pm, that should give you enough time, right? 2 hours?” It also happened to us before, while we were eating. The host came over and asked if we were almost done, because they needed the table for a reservation.
Chuck L — Google review
This is a fresh spot that serves indian fusion dishes. It's a little hidden, you need to go down a little alleyway near the Yale bookstore to see it. I got the Chicken Frankie roll to go, so I can't comment on the dine in experience. It was good, but quite underwhelming, both in size, and in taste. There was very little chicken, and it was probably half the mass of a typical burrito. They also took like 20 minutes to get the order out. Will definitely be back to try the dine-in experience.
Viggy V — Google review
Soooo good. Would definitely return again. High quality food, well prepared, great flavor. Honestly some of my favorite Indian food that I’ve had.
Laura M — Google review
The food was average, but the experience was very uncomfortable and disappointing due to the staff’s attitude. I ordered pickup through their online platform, and when I got home, the lamb kebab was missing. I called the restaurant and was put on hold; when someone finally answered, he kept repeating that the order had been prepared by his manager, so it was “impossible” anything was left out. He even suggested the problem might have happened after I picked up the food. After another hold, he eventually said they’d make another order of the lamb kebab “on the house” or refund me, but also made it clear he wasn’t sure the restaurant was actually responsible. I told him they could review their video surveillance if they had doubts. It’s their internal control issue, not mine. After hanging up, I also realized the Gobi Pakora wasn’t in the bag either, but by then I didn’t bother calling again. It was already too frustrating. It’s hard to understand why the first instinct was to challenge and dismiss a customer instead of handling the issue professionally. The whole interaction was uncomfortable and left me with a very poor impression. If you just have to order to-go from here, double-check your bag before leaving, because once you walk out, it seems you’ll get questioned like a thief.

Camacho Garage, located in New Haven, CT, draws inspiration from the owner's father who ran an auto body business in Tijuana while raising 11 children. The restaurant is situated near other popular establishments and was established three years ago after receiving community support. It offers a modern twist on Mexican street food with a tapas-style menu featuring small plates like tacos, ceviche, salads, and tostadas. Traditional dishes such as birria tacos and Mexican salad are also available.
Awesome restaurant. Their menu has great choices across the board and I noticed much of their menu can be made vegetarian. The service was great as well. Fun interior design too!

It was fine, but too expensive. Our server Carlos was fantastic, and the ambiance was great. The drinks were delicious, but about $5 overpriced each. The food tasted pretty good, but the portions should have been bigger for the price. It was disappointing after wanting to try this place for a while.

If you are looking for the best Mexican food in CT, this is definitely the place to go. They use fresh organic food and make their own tortillas, ice cream, and more. I like that they have things on the menu that offer new experiences for most, like banana ice cream, which I would highly recommend! Great atmosphere and service as well! I only took pictures of our desserts, I didn’t think of it sooner, but the presentation of all our food and drinks was very nice.
Patricia H — Google review
The food is superlative. The outdoor seating was pleasant on a mild fall evening. (We would not have wanted to sit inside, however, because the music was blaring. This is such a bizarre contrast to the extreme delicacy of the food dishes. This seems to be the modern trend among younger people, but oldsters like me would like to be able to conduct a conversation over dinner without having to shout and cup an ear. I would love for this place to be a regular, but would hesitate to come in colder weather when need to sit indoors.)
Joel M — Google review
Took our son for birthday dinner and drinks. Had a great corner table with fresh air since the walls are open. Louder industrial style place, but it works. Good food and drinks. Service was great for how busy it was. Parking is getting lucky with street parking. Price was a bit high in my opinion, but we would go again.
Charles R — Google review
This place isn't far from where I am staying, so I've frequented here a few times. The quality of ingredients is top notch, and their drink selections are both wide and strong. My go-to is the octupus and shrimp ceviche - fresh, acidic, and flavorful. Octupus and chorizo tacos are another one of my favorites. As a side, I'd reach for the street corn off the cob every time. Two issues I've had are when it comes to choozing tacos and cost. You can mix and match the basic tacos, but when it comes to the special tacos, you get two and can not mix and match. Then the cost is something to consider. It was almost enough to give this place 4 stars, but the quality won out.

Stopped in after the Monster Truck show with the family and had an awesome experience! We tried the tamarind wings, Mexican street corn, dos al pastor taco bowl, Mexican hot dog, and taco de birria — everything was fresh and full of flavor. The birria taco was the standout, but the al pastor is definitely a must-have if you love tacos. Great drinks, fun atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming (especially with the kids). If you’re looking for a night out with good food and drinks, Camacho Garage is a must-try!

Anchor Spa is a historic bar and restaurant located in downtown, offering craft cocktails and small plates in an intimate setting filled with antiques. Owned by Karl Franz Williams, a Yale alumnus who also owns a popular cocktail bar in Harlem, the spa features a pan-Caribbean menu that pays homage to his St. Vincent roots.
This bar has the most amazing cocktails - I looove the In The Weeds and The Colon Purple. But the best part of Brandon! Plays the best music and the best bartender. I’ve been here a few times because my friend love it here - they love the fried. I can’t wait to come back!

Very cool concept but the portion sizes were extremely small for the price. The food was good, at least what they brought out. They were out of so many foods and instead of telling us they played it off by only bringing us half our meal and presenting it as the whole meal. Only after we addressed it and complained did they offer a discount and apologize for not telling us. Waitress started off nice but quickly developed an attitude.

My visits to Anchor Spa are an exceptional experience from start to finish. The vibrant Caribbean atmosphere sets the perfect backdrop for a night out, with colorful decor and lively music that immediately transports you to a tropical paradise. One of the standout features each time I go is the bartender, Bianca. She is truly outstanding—personable, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the drink menu. Her cocktail creations are not only delicious but also beautifully crafted, showcasing her skills and passion for mixology. I have to note that the happy hour Monday- Friday from 5-7 is a fantastic deal, offering a wide range of options that are both affordable and high-quality. From refreshing cocktails to tasty appetizers, it’s hard to go wrong! My go to drinks is the Jamaican breeze, it never disappoints! Overall, Anchor Spa is a gem that combines great drinks, a fun atmosphere, and superb service. I am regular and proud to call this establishment my “home bar”!!!

I had the pleasure of stopping by the Anchor Spa after an event at the Shubert. When you walk in this place you get the hole in the wall, bar type vibe. For a Friday night it was quaint and decadent. If you’re looking for an intimate chill spot this is the place to be. Not too loud, not too crowded, just right. The decor is different with a historical touch. I was disappointed as they were sold out of plantains but to me that just means they must be really good! Better luck next time. The food was hot, flavorful, and good sized portions. I had the pleasure to briefly chat with the owner and you could tell the pride he has in his establishment. The care shows in all aspects of the place. Will definitely be back with more friends and a designated driver because the drink menu looks divine!!!

Had my first visit here today with a friend and instantly loved the energy. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with great food, drinks, and music setting the perfect vibe. What made it even more special is that it’s a Black-owned business, and I was happy to support. The bartenders were exceptionally friendly and made the experience even better. This place is pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal traffic. Safety measures like social distancing and mask protocols are in place. Plus, there’s a wheelchair-accessible entrance, making it welcoming for everyone. #Bar #NewHaven CT #BlackOwnedBusiness #Cocktail #Vibe #NightLife #Yale #OnGoogle Map.

Reading about the history of Anchor Spa prior to my visit made me really excited to come check it out. When I walked in, I was really impressed by how it felt like I stepped back in time to a classy New Haven cocktail lounge. I truly felt like any one of their past sophisticated celebrity guests could’ve walked in the door at any moment. We sat in a cozy, rounded booth, surrounded by a wall of books and antiques, and placed our order. Their craft cocktails are phenomenal, and their Caribbean menu had some great choices. The salt fish fritters were very tasty, and are definitely salty! We also ordered the jerk chicken, which had a flavorful kick. The shrimp garlic fry bread and Anchor salad weren’t bad, and the Cajun popcorn was fun to munch on. Next time I definitely want to try the fried chicken, which they were unfortunately out of on this visit. I had to quickly switch to the salad as my choice after hearing the chicken was out, and I do wish I had been offered a protein option to make it a bit more filling. However, I will definitely be suggesting Anchor Spa to others as a great place to relax and have some drinks on a night out in New Haven!

The food, drinks, and service were fantastic. The place has a cozy atmosphere. We ordered the Jerk chicken, Bag of fried chicken, and a Anchor Mule. The fried chicken was crispy, tender and delicious. The jerk chicken had good kick, but not over spicy and the anchor mule was a nice. Overall I would reccomend.

A must visit spot when visiting New Haven! I was really impressed with the cocktail menu. There were several cocktails I was interested in trying, which is a rarity for me. Drinks were creative and made with fresh ingredients. I opted for Honey I dew (tequila, honey dew, and kiwi) and Color Purple (gin, blackberry, lavender, lemon) which were both phenomenal and made with unique fruits. My partner loved his Earl Grey and lemon flavored cocktail as well. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend for a great cocktail bar in New Haven!

Took a gamble and tried a new place, absolutely blown away! The food was incredibly delicious with fresh and unique flavor, the scallops, black cod , and Brussels sprouts were out favorites but all the food was amazing (vegetable agedashi and clams). We did the premium sake flight which was also so good, the yuzu one was the best I've ever had. The service was also incredible, our server (Dang Thanh) was so friendly and had the best recommendations. 100% recommend this place!

Glory be! What an amazing experience we recently had at Hachiroku. We learned about this place from another foodie friend and really didn’t know what to expect other than potentially getting some fresh sashimi or sushi. This was not that, this was so much more! This was more of an Omakase style experience, but not exactly Omakase.. I love that there is a sake tasting experience and a variety of sake, which is one of my favorite spirits. Every single dish is delicately and richly prepared. Come to find out that every single item on the dish is edible including the florals and garnishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the mixed mushroom plate - the sauce it was in was out of this world. My favorite has to be, well everything! The octopus, tuna tartar, chicken karage, sea bass and oddly the little peaches and fruit on each plate! Never had anything like it. Also, don’t forget to order dessert their Matcha Panna cotta was amazing as well. We hear they are moving to a new location and we cannot wait because we are so excited to visit again. Awesome place with a Brooklyn vibe. It's small but it's not hard to get a table/seating at the bar there. We got seating at the bar for Friday night on Thursday, the tables were already booked. The atmosphere was great, friendly staff, amazing food! I'm picky about food, and this was delicious! The portions weren't big but we were full after ordering an appetizer and a dinner dish. Their mushroom appetizer was soooo good! Salmon with ikura was great too. Even the house salad was amazing! I don't know what they put in the dressing but I need the recipe 😍 I didn't try any of the sake or whiskey but they had MANY options. Will definitely come back and try more stuff.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana is a renowned local pizzeria chain that has been serving coal-fired pies, beer, and wine since 1925. Despite its expansion to over a dozen locations along the eastern seaboard, the original New Haven spot continues to draw crowds eager to taste where it all began. The pizzeria's claim to fame lies in introducing the white clam pizza, showcasing immigrant ingenuity.
Used to live by the Manchester CT one and absolutely loved their summer pies. I was driving through New Haven and stopped in to this location twice two weekends ago, one for sit down and one for take-out. Both Summer Pies (White pies with fresh tomatoes on the pie, cheese, and garlic) with Pepperoni added to it, one with additional spinach! Both pies were delicious and a solid recommend to any pizza lover and pep lover! The place was busy, but service was good and friendly, keep it up!!

It was a little loud but definitely had the feeling of little Italy. It didn't disjointed at all. The tomatoes from Italy were a magical touch to the pizza we had and the crispy crust was exactly what I'd been missing all my life. The open kitchen with the brick pizza oven sealed the deal for me. Thank you for a wonderful lunch from your wayward Florida friend.

One of the top pizza spots in New Haven. They have been around for over 100 years and are known for their quality pizzas. Due to its popularity there can be quite a wait with a line outside. However, it is well worth it. We did not have to wait long and were seated in a booth. They have a decent variety of pizzas but my favorite was their Margherita. They have a good selection of alcoholic drinks including desserts. The pizza was well worth it and Pepes definitely lives up to its reputation.
Gokul K — Google review
This was my first stop on my little pizza tour I did this past weekend. I went to the main restaurant to get a table and the nice hostess instructed me to go to the location a little past the parking lot. I didn't have a long wait time to be seated which was great. Jeanne was my server and she was friendly and attentive. Now the pizza... Being from New York and a follower of Dave Portnoy I have high expectations. I had a bit of a wait time to get my small meatball and ricotta pie and when it came out it was piping hot. Word to the wise to first time patrons....let the pizza cool down a bit before digging in otherwise you will burn the roof of you mouth like I did. I like my pizza cooked, but the crust was a bit too well done for my taste. Some spots were hard and very crunchy. Otherwise the rest of the pie was rather good and I would rate them an 8.5 out of 10. They have a good menu with decent prices, plus they serve alcohol. The establishment is clean and they have a good size parking lot which is a plus for those that struggle to find street parking. In closing, I am glad I tried this place for my first New Haven pizza experience and I would come here again in the future.

We had a clam and a fresh tomato pie. The crust is perfect: thin and crunchy and holds. It’s not about cheese… it’s the tomato sauce - heaven. We allowed bacon on clams, and it was fine, but don’t recommend. We ate our minds out and needed boxes. But the logistics - when you show up the line looks 1.5 hours long. It moves in less than 30 min. Service is fantastic.
Tania S — Google review
I really enjoyed their pizza. The crust was thin exactly what I like with that satisfying crispness. The toppings were well‑balanced, and the overall flavor stood out. Highly recommend to try their sangria and tiramisu. Definitely a place I’d go back !

Everyone recommends Pepe and for very good reason - it’s a standout with the crispy crust and fresh tasting tomatoe sauce with fresh pecorino cheese. Man, oh man, this pizza 🍕 sings and dances in this 100+ old New Haven pizzeria. This spot is beyond worthy of all the accolades. Highly, highly recommend and others may copy this place but wow just wow is it fantastic and exceeds the hype. Deborah, our server, so friendly and helpful, made our experience even better with her suggestion of extra pecorino and her big smile with check ins to see how we were liking it or needed anything. Can’t say enough nice things so swing by or better yet, make a special trip and try it out for yourself. The giant pizza oven and the super long pizza paddles were fun to watch them cooking. Good luck with the next 100 years in business.

Wow. Just wow! A friend of ours told us to check out Frank Pepe’s. Boy, he knew what he was talking about. Always ask a local for recommendations. When we got to the pizzeria, we were greeted by our servers Daniele and Adrian. They gave us plenty of time to check out the menu since we’ve never been here before. We ordered the Patata Rustica and the Doppio Pepperoni. Lemme tell you. When these pizzas came to the table, I just stared at my bestie and was like, this is gonna be amazing. It sure was! This thin crust and taste of both pizzas was everything. We didn’t need to add anything to it. No salt. No pepper. No extras. Our service was top notch as was the food. Def check this place out if you’re in the area. I also asked Amaya and Brett for some pics because you have to see the deliciousness for yourself. Thank you everyone for a great dining experience!

Pizza restaurant
Sally's Apizza is an iconic pizzeria in New Haven, serving coal-fired, thin-crust pies that have attracted long lines of customers since 1938. The name "Apizza" reflects the Naples dialect of early Italian immigrants in New Haven. This family-owned restaurant has a strong emotional appeal and is known for its balanced sauce and less-charred crust.
Like many a tourist, I had Sally's Apizza on my list because of Dave Portnoy. I was blown away when I turned the corner to a line at the end of the block. The anticipation could not be higher! We ordered two large Mozzarella & Tomato Sauce Pies, a small Bacon, Apple, Sage pie, a Caesar Salad, and a Gassosa to drink. The mozzarella and tomato pie is king for a reason. A sweet and fresh tomato sauce on a light, coal-fired crust does all the heavy lifting. The bacon and apple was unique, but I don't love white cheese pizzas and the apple is too nuanced for me. The Caesar salad was incredible, and I pinched myself to ensure it wasn't my taste buds boosting flavors because of the wait. The dressing isn't too strong, and coats each leaf of fresh lettuce perfectly while dashed with just the right amount of croutons. And the gassosa complemented the pizza as I hoped it would, so I'm a big fan of the "Italian Sprite." The amount of food was perfect for a party of five. Angel was a great server. He under-promised and over-delivered. When we were seated, he let us know pies would take an hour. He brought our salad and drinks out quickly, and we were pleasantly surprised when food was out in about 30-40 minutes. He was quick on refills, and checked on us regularly. I enjoyed how even though there's a lot of anticipation from patrons to get into the restaurant, and then once in receive food quickly, the staff keep the anxiety down and manage the time. They set the tone, and it makes for a great dining experience. Great service all around. The atmosphere is everything I could hope for. A seasoned pizzeria part of the soul of a city, with fans old and new who wait for hours to get a table and share a pie. In total, I waited in line for 90 minutes, then 40 to get the pizza. It was absolutely worth the wait. Would I do it again? I'd honestly probably plan ahead and do takeout, but for my first time, I'd wait again. It was a legendary experience and well worth the memories. One Bite: 8.7/10

I expected the line outside. What I didn’t expect was an hour wait once we ordered one pizza. Was it delicious? Yes. I wish the crust wasn’t so burnt though. The waitress never came and checked on us to let us know there was an hour before we’d eat. Never filled our water until we flagged her down. Still glad I ate here, but prepare to wait. EDIT-Thank you for letting me know about the New Haven char. I had no idea. If that’s how it’s done than the pizza was perfect!

Delicious Pizza! We arrived 30 minutes before opening and we were 5th in line. There is normally a line as it’s very popular. The pizza was a true classic in amazing flavor. Portions were large and the price wasn’t bad especially considering how delicious the pizza tasted. Next time definitely getting it to go so a side by side can happen with their biggest competitor. Overall if you love pizza this is a must visit location as they are definitely in the top pizza places in the world.

Great pizzas and quick friendly service. Definitely recommend adding fresh garlic and basil to any pizza you get. We ordered many different ones but liked the stinger the most. I’ve tried other apizzas so felt like the crust could be thinner, but still good!

*Update*: Spoke with management, very pleasant person over the phone clearly committed to making things better. Definitely will give them another shot. *Update* So, let me start off by saying that my experience from this location has only been take out. I did dine in at another Sally’s location and the pizza was tied with Di Fara’s as my all time favorite. So I was rather disappointed with my experience at this location, especially being the original spot. I did give it two chances though. My first time I was scheduled for a 2:45pm pickup but showed up at 2:40 thinking it wouldn’t be ready yet. To my surprise it was all ready to go. I took it to my car and immediately opened it up. While it was warm, I could tell right away it had been sitting in the box for a long amount of time. It was floppy and not as crispy as I thought it was going to be. No where near as good as the Sally’s at the other location. So I decided to give it another try. This time I had a pickup time of 2:15. When I got there there was a sign up that wasn’t there before saying it was cash only. I told the guy I wasn’t told over the phone that they were cash only and asked his advice on closest atm. In a rushed manner he said “I have no clue. Maybe downtown”. I proceeded to walk around for 20 minutes to find an atm. When I came back approximately 30 minutes later I noticed the sign was taken down. I told the cashier at the takeout window my situation and he said “I’m just a worker bee, that was a managerial decision”. I said perhaps he should bring my feedback back to his manager. No response, clearly he was overwhelmed and didn’t care. I asked him if my pie had been sitting around, he told me it was in a warmer. So, yes, my pie was just sitting in a box in a warmer. There are a bunch of different things he could have done in this situation to rectify things, but he had no desire to do that. I’m also noticing a lot of “cookie cutter” responses to reviews on this account. “We value your feedback and will share with our team”. To me, I don’t get the feeling you are valuing people’s feedback, and I didn’t get that feeling in person either. I get it, you will still get a line of people each day paying $27 for your pie no matter what. But perhaps you should just put a little more effort into really making this a 9.2 experience for all, even those without YouTube channels.

I got the burrata pizza. It looks divine and i cannot believe im saying this but it could’ve used a little more flavor. I added every single seasoning in my cabinet to every slice i ate. I did eat a good amount of it on my own and it was delicious even then. Much to my surprise the thin crush did hold everything up pretty well. Didn’t get too flimsy. I would get this again.

Visited 30 pizzerias in 9 days in New Haven, Philly and New York. All the way from the UK. Sally’s was my first stop in New Haven. Arrived around 11:30. Service was fine. He let us try some of the sodas before settling on the cream soda so a slight plus there. Although the guy had a script he was doing with every table and it did not feel personable in any way at all to us. “Are you guys ready for the best pizza of your life?!” Was what he said to every table. Which you could hear every few minutes. I was really was ready for the best pizza of my life but what we got was genuinely the worst pizza of the 30 I visited on my 9 day trip. Very disappointed in this experience as I’ve been excited for years to visit Sally’s. The photo’s will show you the pizzas we were served. I spoke to others in new haven that day that feel the same and met another person who went at 19:30 the same day was served a similarly under baked pie. If the owners are happy with this output then that’s a real shame.

Been thinking about pizza for a while, hence decided to drive to New Haven (CT). The drive was about 2 hours plus. The wait in the line was another 2 hours plus. The pizza arrived about 30 minutes after I was seated & placed the order. I invested 5 hours for pizza (not counting the drive back). Not just any pizza, but pizza in New Haven (CT), arguably the best pizza town in America. Not just any pizza, but pizza at Sally’s, perhaps amongst the top three pizza joints in New Haven (CT). But 5 hours ? Yes, 5 hours because it is so good. The long wait time may perhaps also be because Sally’s has just one small coal fired oven (probably the same since 1938) and serves both sit down customers and takeout orders. I ordered three small pies (thin charred crust). Tomato Pie (not the red pizza sauce, just crushed fresh tomato) Clam Pizza (don’t hate it till you try it) Potato & Rosemary Pie (don’t hate it till you try it) In 1938, the most expensive pie at Sally’s was $1.50. It is not dollar fifty anymore, but these pies and the crowds outside Sally’s have endured so far. After I got home, I placed the leftover slices (in the box) on the kitchen counter for a very short time. The whole house had that wonderful New Haven charred crust pizza aroma (so good).

Bar
Brewpub
Night club
Pizza restaurant
BAR is a popular and lively establishment in a town known for its traditional pizza joints. The bar and dance club feature indie rock shows in an industrial-chic setting with cozy nooks. Known for its famous mashed potato and thick-cut bacon pizza, BAR offers a unique twist on traditional pizzas, including the red pie with mozzarella and meatballs. Additionally, the venue brews its own beers, adding to its appeal as a local favorite.
Today, the Slice Mob rolled into New Haven in the Slice Mob Mobile, hungry and ready to tackle some legendary New Haven–style pizza. This month’s meetup brought us to BAR Pizza on Crown Street. Cool spot. Long communal tables flanked by towering fermentation tanks, not for their dough, but for their beer. But I digress. Inside, it’s got an easygoing, open vibe. No wait, plenty of space, and enough table real estate to handle the sprawl of pizzas this crew is famous for ordering. Some of today’s hits (that I didn’t personally try) included the Margherita, Elote, Lobster Roll, and Smoked Brisket pies , all earning rave reviews from the table. Me? I stayed true to form with a Red Pie and the Portrait of New Haven. Both came on BAR’s signature cracker-thin crust, flavorful, sturdy, and perfectly charred, holding the toppings like it was born to do so. The sauce was balanced and fresh, lightly seasoned, and topped with a light snowfall of grated Parmigiano. The Portrait of New Haven used the same crust-and-sauce base, then leveled up with locally sourced Lamberti sausage (the kind that makes you remember what sausage should taste like), roasted red peppers, house-made sauce, ricotta, and mozzarella. The result? A perfect symphony of sweet, creamy, and umami-rich flavors, with smoky undertones from that charred crust. This was my showstopper, had my name written all over it. BAR is an excellent downtown hangout, feels like a weekend staple waiting to happen. Cool atmosphere, top-notch pies, and absolutely Slice Mob Approved.

It's a bar with a small pizza menu. The pizza is thin crust and there's four options from what I saw on the menu, and it's all delicious. A friend and I split a large which was a bit too much but somehow we finished it all. The service was good, they didn't come and check on us which was in the end of the world. But we sort of expect that sometimes for drink refills and such. It looks like a pretty happen place with a good bar and lots of space to eat and hang out including outside seating. Which probably wouldn't be for me with the busy road outside. But if you heard the pizza is good here, I would have to agree and I would encourage you to check it out. Probably not a good spot for kids, but for everybody else it's great.

BAR was incredible. Not as old as the other New Haven pizza spots, but definitely worth trying a pie. Some of the thinnest pizza I have ever had. Their Lobster Roll and Mashed Potato and Bacon are great non-traditional offerings at this bar that also serves as a nightclub at night. Definitely recommend to anyone on New Haven Pizza tour.

Visited New Haven and was told that BAR had really great pizza -- specifically the mashed potato pizza. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it, but it turns out that I LOVED it. So good! This place is great to grab some pizza with a group. There were lots of great options on the menu.

This was our 1st time at Bar. They had a 30 minute wait but the hostess suggested we sit at the bar and order pizza if we wanted. Great idea! We started with the tomato pie which was perfect. Their sauce is delicious 😋. Hubby had a key lime sour beer and really enjoyed it. We finished the tomato pie and ordered "a taste of New Haven" pie. OMG, in house made sausage, roasted red peppers, dough, sauce, ricotta....so yummy. We boxed up what was left to go , got 2 crawlers of the key lime beer to go and said our good bye 😀

first time trying new haven style pizza as a jersey native. pizza was good. waitress with curly hair was nice and even helped when they sent out the wrong pie. young girl as the hostess tonight 10/23 5pm not so much. when i asked if we could do a table for 2 she immediately asked if my partner and i could be out of there by 7pm. weird question but sure no problem we just wanted a quick bite to eat anyways. i thought maybe they’re doing an event or something. she didn’t ask the group behind us that same question which was weird too but i realized my partner and i were the only non white people in there. we left at 6pm sharp so we didn’t go over the time limit set by the front hostess. as we left she said goodnight to a group walking a few feet in front of us but looked at my partner and i and didn’t say anything. i love trying new places to eat all over nyc/nj/boston and unfortunately this place is the first time i’ve ever had a bad taste left in my mouth. the pizza was good and our waitress with curly hair was super sweet but i probably wont be back because of the hostess.

BAR New Haven was excellent pizza!! I was my first time there, and I brought three people from Maine with me plus one from CT. We all loved the pizza and the atmosphere!! Our waitress Taylor was phenomenal, she was very friendly and had a great conversation with us. We tried her favorite pizza Md Portrait of NH (Sausage, Roasted Red pepper, Ricotta, Basil, Garlic). Great recommendation by Taylor.

Super thin crust pizzas. We tried the famous/notorious mashed potato + bacon pizza. It was really yummy and scrumptious. (Should have ordered a small pie for two people; the medium is huge.) We also recommend the beers they make! The space itself is really cool. It’s divided into several rooms.

Nice vibes. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Wanted to try the paella but unfortunately did not this time. Got a bunch of differnt tapas to try. Everything was great. Great spot for date night or to hang out with friends and family. Love that everything is small so you're able to try a variety of different things.

The restaurant was fine! To be honest I was not super impressed with some of the items, but perhaps I didnt choose well. The albóndigas in particular seemed a lot less flavorful than I was expecting. On the other hand, I would not skip the bacon wrapped dates!!! They were sweet and salty, rich and chewy. Wow! Super filling but absolutely fantastic. Overall I'd say be careful not to order too much because while most items were delicious, a lot of them were very rich and filling. Honestly it wouldn't take too many cheeses or tapas to make a satisfying meal.

We had a superb dinner, undoubtedly the best restaurant experience of a 16 day road trip and one of the best we’ve ever experienced. We loved the mix of classic and innovative tapas, my wife really appreciated the variety of vegan options and the kitchen’s willingness to adapt dishes. The wines and sherry were delicious and the service was impeccable. Well done to everyone and many thanks for a most enjoyable evening.

Arethusa's ice cream is considered super premium with 16% butter fat and the flavors are created in-house using traditional methods.
Excellent milkshake! The mint flavor and raspberry are amazing. FYI they do not provide samples but their selection are pretty regular so you have an idea of what they taste like. Totally recommend visiting.

Looked promising at first, but they limit samples to one per group. How am I supposed to know what flavor to get? Every group gets the same thing? Anyone coming here with friends/family walk in as if you aren’t together I guess. Plus no toppings at all and only like 10 flavors? So many better spots right around the corner. Staff acts as if they’re doing us a favor by buying their ice cream. Vanilla was decent tho.

Anytime I go away for a few days I always look for an ice cream shop just to get a little fix...so to speak. So while staying in New Haven I happened to come across this cute little no frills shop. The service here is great and the staff is friendly. Prices aren't too bad either for the amount of ice cream you get. They don't have a large selection so it really isn't too hard to choose a flavor. And they only offer one sample per person. You can get your ice cream in several sized cups and cones. I tried the chocolate, butter pecan and coffee and they all tasted great. The coffee flavor I think was the best one I tried. Overall, I think I found my spot to go to anytime I plan on visiting New Haven. If you like simple ice cream shops then this is the place for you.

Stopped by for some delicious ice cream. They have a small but great selection of flavors. Cool design, looks like a classic ice cream shop but also modern and clean. Super friendly service and pricing was also very reasonable.
Najeeb A — Google review
Nice little ice cream shop with a cool atmosphere. The ice cream is creamy and simple. It is quite pricey with a regular cup coming out to about $8 before adding a waffle cone, but I’m sure their ingredients are high quality. You’re also only limited to one sample, so choose wisely when contemplating what to try. Regardless of what you get though, it will be loaded with toppings. Each bite we took had at least 3-4 slices of peach or chocolate chips in it. Worth $8? Definitely not, but I don’t regret trying it.

Took my dad here for Father’s Day as he loved Indian. The food was great and even enjoyable as leftovers for the next day. The waiter was very helpful with explaining the dishes as I tried something new that day. My dad is a vegetarian and had plenty options to choose from at Zaroka. Overall, great experience.

Great Indian place to enjoy. I was just a bit surprised the owner had no mask and came out talking to 2 tables. He ended up sitting with a couple there I guess they are regulars, I am just glad he didn’t come to my table. The server did not put her mask on until after a couple asked her to do so. The food was full of spice and flavor, the mango drink was amazing also, it does not get more authentic than this. Message to the owner :- If you read this wear mask when serving others, we are still in a pandemic. Food was great otherwise

We had a fantastic experience at Zaroka on lunch at New Year’s Eve. The restaurant was clean and well distanced. We had the Momos and Tandoori aloo for appetisers which were very good. We then had the best ever falafels with hummus. The falafels were crunchy but mouth melting - just perfect! Then based on the manager’s recommendation we had the Jalapeño Goat cheese naan which was amazing too! The veg bombay noodles and paneer makhani (with lots of paneer!) were very tasty too. Five stars because - great food, nice ambience and friendly, warm service! We’ll definitely be back here.

After so many years of trying almost every single restaurant in downtown New Haven, I never stepped inside here for some reason because I always thought it was too packed. I decided to go there today for lunch, ordered the burger, and OMG! Best burger I've ever had in my life—juicy and not greasy. I was so pleased that I ordered another one for my husband to pick up just a few minutes ago.

Food was not as good as I expected it to be by the reviews and pics. The thing that tasted the best was the cauliflower wings. The southern fried chicken could of had much more flavor, but it was nice and tender and not chewy. The deviled eggs could of also used more seasoning and flavor as well. The Mac and cheese didn’t taste good at all, I had to send it back (which I literally almost never do anywhere). The drink I had wasn’t bad but for the price it was very small. Some of the food prices are honestly not that bad, but some are more pricy. For 2 people, our meal came up to a little over $100 (but we did order a good amount of food). The ambiance is very nice and it’s much bigger inside the restaurant than you would think when entering. I really liked how they decorated and separated the rooms.

We had a wonderful brunch at Elm City. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The lobster doughnuts were incredible. I had the lobster Benedict. The rest of our group had the steaks and eggs and the scrambled lobster eggs. All were delicious. The bloody Mary’s with deviled eggs hit the spot. The breakfast shot (Jameson /butterscotch ) came with an on chaser an some crisp bacon. Fantastic brunch and looking forward to going back to try different dishes !

Had brunch here with a girlfriend of mine, and it was so nice. We each had a cocktail, I had the Rosemary's bloody, which had bacon and a deviled egg on top! The coffee is also a really nice blend. We shared the Hawaiian bbq lollipop wings. They have a bit of a kick to them, and you need extra napkins.. I had the brunch wrap supreme, which was DELICIOUS! It had eggs, bacon, pancakes, and cheese inside! My friend had the cannoli cream cinnamon bun...what a beautifully balanced brunch.

The diverse crowd adds to the vibrant atmosphere, and the owner's warm and welcoming demeanor enhances the overall experience. Great little bar that has an amazing twist. The food is good and there's such a large variety of small plates to share with your friends, with the larger plates to satisfy those looking for a flavorful and interesting dinner. The mojitos are heavy on the mint but don't lose their delicious flavor. Definitely great for date night or a night out with friends!

We recently went to Barracuda’s new location (which was also our first time visiting Barracuda at all), and I think it’s such a cool concept that they share the same roof as 80 Proof. They have a great variety of Latin dishes to choose from, and they nailed the arepas, Mofongo, and Lomo. Great drinks, desserts, and apps! I’m not able to compare this location to the original because I had never been, but I was impressed. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the staff makes it really easy to restaurant hop if you choose to!

I came here recently for dinner with a couple of friends. Although we were late for our reservation, we were seated as soon as everyone came in which I appreciated. Ambiance was okayish, could be better. Service was very slow, which I understood since it was Valentine's Day and a Friday. Our waiter was very forgetful and rarely checked in on us. I had the lomo saltado which was okay but would've been better if it was cooked more. Would’ve been nice if the waiter asked me how did I want my meat cooked. I also ordered the tres leche which took 20-30 minutes to take out. I ended up asking it to go since we had to leave. A bit ridiculous for dessert but giving the benefit of doubt since it was somewhat on the busy side. Paying for our check also took longer than usual as the waiter barely tended to us and we had to ask other staff such as a host to help us out. It felt uneasy that someone had my card for an extended time and don’t want to think worst case scenario. I want to give Barracuda another try when it's less busy but hesitant to do so with the not so great service we received.

(Last visited 11/21/2021.) If you know me or my fiancée you know how we feel about brunch and even more about bottomless mimosas, but this place doesn't quite offer that... something else though... read on. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: First and foremost, I highly recommend that you make reservations in advance. We got lucky today. Set right downtown New Haven near Yale is this gem. Good luck with your own parking since this place doesn't have a private lot, but there are plenty of spaces on the street or structures around. It's a cozy and quaint place that can't hold a lot of people. It's almost always packed in here and the energy is through the roof. I loved it. The left side of the restaurant is the bar section with a half-wall separating it from the other side, which holds all the tables. The giant exposed ventilation that runs from the ceiling right to the floor is a super cool, modern-rustic touch. Service: Chris took excellent care of us both times that we've visited this place. He's quick with getting things we asked for, friendly, fun and ridiculously helpful. Food: So we must discuss what you probably searched to find this review... This place does NOT offer bottomless mimosas, however, if you buy a pitcher of mimosa, you can buy refills for $1.00/piece. How many you're allowed to buy is up to the restaurant. The first time we came, we were allowed to buy multiples, but the 2nd time we were only allow to buy one additional, so take that with a grain of salt. For my entrée I went with their Barracuda Nachos! These consist of yuca fritas topped with blackened chicken, pepper jack cheese, tomato & scallions served with sour cream, salsa and guacamole. You can add other proteins for additional costs. They were SO FREAKING GOOD and just different compared to traditional nachos elsewhere. I loved them. Value: A pitcher of mimosa is $20.00 and the refill is only $1.00. See the value there?! Lol. My nachos were $12.00 and it was an additional $2.00 for your choice of pork belly, steak, mushrooms, chorizo or blackened chicken. I think this place was absolutely worth it and you'd think the same. In conclusion, this place was awesome and it's a reason we've driven 45 minutes twice to hang out here. We will continue to visit this place in the future! If you made it this far in the review, I appreciate you reading. Please do me a favor and head on over to "The Hungry Road" on YouTube and subscribe! My channel features a lot of food, car and exclusive shoe related content! Thank you so much!

Bartenders are friendly and very knowledgeable about menu items!! Nick and Jesus are by far my favorites!!! Great Margaritas and they have definitely made me a huge fan of coconut Mojitos!!! Everyone is so friendly and it always a great time!!

Great food, service, drinks and ambiance. Will definitely come back. We got the fried yuca, the sweet plantain with cheese, the empanadas, the yuca nachos, and the mango chicken flatbread. The Mojitos were on point

Cocktail bar
Bar
Located in New Haven, Ordinary is a historic bar with a unique past. It was once a tavern, inn, bookstore, general store, and even hosted George Washington for a night. The interior features dark wood, red booths, and vintage-inspired decor. The bar offers craft cocktails in a saloon-type setting that transports visitors to another era. Guests praise the cozy atmosphere and excellent wait staff while enjoying delicious cocktails and tasty food options like charcuterie and cheese boards.
From the moment you walk in, Ordinary hits you with that speakeasy-style charm hidden behind a door that feels like it belongs in the Prohibition era. It’s got this moody, vintage vibe that sets the tone before you even sit down. The food Not bad at all believe it or not, some of the bites definitely hold their own. But let’s be real the star of the show is hands-down the chocolate chip cookies. Gooey, rich, and warm, they come out like they were baked by someone who understands your soul. Seriously, don’t skip them. Whether you’re there for a chill night out, good conversation, or just want to feel like you’re sipping cocktails in a hidden 1920s bar Ordinary delivers. Just save room for dessert. Trust me.

I’ve always been curious to visit Ordinary, so my husband and I stopped in for their Christmas pop up while we were in the area. We had a prime seat in front of the decorated fire place and enjoyed all of the decorations. Though we came at 5:30pm on Saturday, the server informed us they were already out of a couple of the menu items we were hoping to try, but nonetheless, the food options we picked were tasty. Really creative drinks and something for every palate! Our only critique was that it took 40 minutes for our one banana bread skull to come out. I think our server may have forgotten to put in the order initially, but even after we reminded him it still took longer than we expected, and it wasn’t served warm, so we were left a little confused. Otherwise, cool space with great drinks and inexpensive food options, and we could definitely see ourselves bringing our friends here to hang out.

The mystery of it all is really cool. Love the hidden bar and the theme. The bartenders are very professional and the drinks are perfect. I got the Vampires kiss which was delicious and really cool at the same time. Had a good time period .

Ordinary is a true speakeasy experience—true to its name, you could easily miss it if you’re not paying attention! It used to be the Taft Hotel's bar, which adds a charming bit of history to the place. Every time I visit, I’m impressed by both the food and drinks. We tried the mac & cheese, grilled cheese, candied nuts, and roasted potatoes, and everything was spot on. But the real highlight is the drinks—my go-to is the sour amaretto with egg whites, and they do a phenomenal job every single time! If you're looking for a hidden gem with excellent food and standout cocktails, Ordinary is a must-visit when in New Haven!
Darshil P — Google review
If you’re looking for an extraOrdinary night and the kind of bar that makes you feel cooler than you actually are—Ordinary is your spot. From the get-go, we knew we were in for a treat when the manager greeted us like we were VIPs at a secret society meeting. His humor and charm instantly made us feel at home—and a little giddy, like we were about to be let in on a really good secret. We took our rightful thrones at the bar, where Sam the Bartender became our spirit guide. He whipped up a series of signature cocktails with the finesse of a wizard and the speed of a caffeinated squirrel. The highlight? My wife was handed a drink so transcendent she named it herself—“Sunrise After Midnight.” Was it the best cocktail she’s ever had? Very likely. I had a whiskey sour, old fashioned, and a few of thier on menu cocktails - all amazing but the whisky sour stood out as the absolute best. The vibe? Impeccable. Moody, cozy, and just loud enough to keep things lively but quiet enough that we didn’t have to lip-read like Victorian ghosts. Perfect for date nights, friend hangs, or just pretending you're a character in a noir film. We had an absolute blast and will definitely be back—possibly wearing disguises so we can pretend it’s our “first time” again. Cheers to Ordinary—a place that lives up to its name in absolutely no way whatsoever.
Eric — Google review
This is a cool cocktail bar that is both a modern and historical speakeasy. Knock on the door and enter! Lots of history on their website about the building and establishment. The interior is dark and moody, fitting for an underground scene in a historic college town. The seating varies, and I think the back room is a better spot than the hallway bar. But, the ambiance is good and it would be a great date location. Extremely attentive service. Very well-crafted cocktails. The food was tasty and filling. They make their tomato jam in house, so if you get the meat and cheese board, enjoy it. Though it would be nice if there were some more variety on the menu or speakeasy/historic themed items. Maybe a veggie item that's not a salad? I felt that much of the menu items were cheese focused (Mac and cheese, grilled cheese, cheese burger, etc) and didn't want half of the evening's food to be cheese. Good luck if you're lactose intolerant.
Zoe M — Google review
Fantastic artisanal cocktails with exceptional service in a wonderful speakeasy atmosphere. The food was also great, although a little limited in selection. But everything that we tried was very tasty.

From classic flavors like French Toast and Red Velvet Cake to unique options such as Kookie Monster and Smores, there's something for every taste. In addition to their delectable sweets, they also serve savory options like bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. The friendly staff is always ready to offer helpful suggestions, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Loved the vibe here and the staff were super friendly! We got three donuts; maple bacon, Adam's apple pie and the french toast. Adam's apple pie donut was easily the best out of the three. The cheesecake apple filling inside just made everything so much better. Highly recommend this one.
Goushi K — Google review
Conveniently located near Yale and a few shopping stores. The donuts are as expected from a standard donut shop. However, the service left something to be desired, coming across as a bit rude despite the basic level of service.

You want good music? They got it. You want a clean, hip, place? They got it! Friendly staff? They got it! Cinnamon rolls the size of your head? They got’em! This is a great place to come eat doughnuts. COME GET YOUR FIX! Really nice place to come by yourself or with friends. Worth a visit if you’re in New Haven!
Samy G — Google review
Massive size donuts with the craziest mixture! For me, these size donuts were sharing potion size. I just simply could not eat the whole thing myself. Ordered a dozen and got 2 free donuts, which was nice. Roughly $40-ish for a dozen but I think the size justifies the price per donut. My favorite were the ones with filling because even though the outside of the donut was hard the next day, just microwave it for 10-15 seconds, makes the filling and the outside soft and warm. My least favorite was the red velvet surprisingly. Sounds great on paper, but quite the opposite when devouring. Didn’t really taste like red velvet to me. They offer beverages there too, but I’m so disappointed I didn’t get one before leaving. Would’ve been nice to have a hot drink with a donut. Overall, the place was very cute. I would come back and perhaps try dining in the next time where I can also enjoy a beverage.

Caramel and coconut cold brew iced coffee and a bacon egg and cheese on an everything. Topped off with a maple bacon donut and a Black hawk donut; double chocolate cake with crushed Oreo and chocolate drizzle Servers were friendly. The man, who’s name I unfortunately didn’t get, was super friendly and patient with our indecisiveness, let us try two coffees and offered great suggestions for donuts Cons: donuts were a little drier than expected, dense but very flavorful.
B C — Google review
We had a wonderful experience here! They don’t have donuts on Mondays, which is the day we were there, but they have other pastries and good breakfast food! I got an omelette and my husband got a bagel breakfast sandwich and both were very tasty and priced very well. The girl who took our order was super friendly as well. Good atmosphere, lots of seating and in a good location.
Ellyn D — Google review
It is not a donut, it is a cake. The stuffed french toast was delicious. You need a fork to eat these. Really really sweet. The inside seems like a vibe.
Janis M — Google review
The worst restaurant I have encountered in New Haven. The staff there seem to hold a grudge on everything and is very impatient. I ordered one avocado toast for 11 dollars, waited 10 mins, and the food itself was mediocre, containing too much olive oil. After handling me the food, the waitress said "you are welcome" twice on my face, as if she was begging for a thank you, which I eventually gave in the meaning of "so long and I will never come again".

Great place to enjoy sushi. Authentic, good priced and delicious. The Restaurant is cozy and comfortable and the servers are very attentive. I would visit again when In the mood for some sushi. The Service was also fast. They probably took 5-10 minutes to serve us our food after ordering. I also included a pic of the menu for reference.

Wow the size of the Kani salad alone! The special purple rice! The little box though was the true star! It came with a dessert and salad and 3 piece California roll. Went back for dinner. My friend got 2 rolls and she liked them. I got the Kani salad again!

Maybe they were busy but it was a long wait time. Maybe we need to reserve a table. One seated the wait time to get out food was really long. We got our food but no utensils. Had a tuna roll that was lacking tuna flavor which was agreed with the party on the table. Maybe it was a bad night for them. But overall the food was lacking something. Not a tasty experience for me on my table. The staff members were super nice which was a plus.

Basil Restaurant is a cozy Asian eatery located in the Naugatuck Valley, specifically in the small town of Oxford. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Asian dishes, including Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese cuisine. The staff is known for their exceptional service and friendly demeanor, making it an ideal spot for a family dining experience. Customers have praised specific dishes such as the soy sauce chicken wonton noodle soup with egg noodles for its delicious and light broth.
The portion of the food is huge! The basil fried rice was good, not too oily. Although the menu marked it as spicy, I didn’t find it tastes spicy. The singapore fried rice noodles were so great that I couldn’t stop eating it (forgot to take the picture). Seems like a popular place for students. Will come to try other food recommended in reviews.

A delightful little restaurant tucked away in a converted old house. The atmosphere is excellent, the staff kind, and the menu varied. They have tons of vegan and vegetarian options. The tofu, in particular, is excellent and crispy. The food is also very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area and craving some delicious Asian food!

Junzi Kitchen, located in New Haven, CT, is a bright and modern eatery offering a unique twist on authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. The menu features traditional favorites like General Tso's Chicken and Kung Pao Shrimp alongside signature dishes such as knife noodles topped with meatballs and pickled red cabbage. The industrial-style lunch counter exudes a hip vibe similar to Xian Famous Foods, complete with a soundtrack of hip hop music.
It doesn’t matter what combination you order here, because everything individually is cooked so well that it all tastes bomb together. My favorites are the knife-cut noodles and the tomato egg sauce. All the protein options are delicious; even their soy egg is well made. Love the ginger scallion sauce. Excellent service, food is served hot! Can’t believe this place doesn’t have lines out the door.

Meh, definitely overpriced for what you get. The portions are super small, and they limit you to just 3 toppings—cilantro counts as a topping, seriously? The corn was literally just boiled with zero flavor. We tried one bowl with noodles and another with brown rice, and both were incredibly bland. There’s no depth or seasoning, just very underwhelming overall. Honestly, I don’t get the hype at all.
Manvika R — Google review
Quite a few options for food bowls which is great but weirdly the star of my bowl was the cabbage! I had to wait a few extra minutes for it to finish cooking but it was delicious! The staff working there were also super friendly and made recommendations which I really appreciate!

Very nice place, I walked inside once to see the Atmos and it looked top tier. The following week, I came in and Yandell greeted me with a well kept smile and braids. He was super friendly and patient as it was my first time there and I ended up enjoying the food. The food was not only perfectly displayed and pretty but tasted even better than it looked. I definitely would come back again soon. I highly recommend this place, the Chinese salad and it is affordable too. Super freaking yummy.

Every time I come back to New Haven, I have to swing by Junzi. The food here is soo good. Flavorful, fresh, nostalgic, and the perfect go-to when I need to nourish my body, mind, and soul. Don’t skip. My fav. is a knife noodle bowl. (I miss the wraps/burritos.)

Absolutely yucky! In all my years I’ve never eaten something like these. I ordered the noodles after long wait as the server was very slow. When I first took a bite I thought that the noodles were horrible! They were overcooked, soggy, and overall absolutely disgusting. I know this review may hurt the student entrepreneurs’ feelings, but I also really hope they could improve.

Pistachio Cafe, with its original location on Whalley Avenue, is a beautifully decorated spot offering a fusion of Middle Eastern desserts like baklava, halva, Turkish delights, and Barazik. The cafe also boasts an array of decadent cakes such as limoncello mascarpone and tora nocciola with praline and hazelnuts. It's a delightful place to savor well-made coffee and pastries while enjoying the trendy and relaxing ambiance.
Great place to hang out and enjoy some amazing flavors of coffee. We tried the cardamom latte (which is my 2nd favorite). 1st spot is for their signature pistachio latte. My friend tried their Mexican spicy mocha latte, which was also good. The ambiance is great with some great jazz music in the background. Sometimes, you hear people taking their work call there depending on where you sit. Their pastries are simply delicious, which has a very European touch to it. I highly recommend this place.

The atmosphere is amazing. Wonderful place to hang out with friends over coffee. Was disappointed with the cashier who was incorrectly charging me extra and was not apologetic. The lava cake was very dry from inside.
Bub K — Google review
I came here for mother's day and it started off ok but went down hill quickly. It took forever for our food and drinks to arrive. They arrived together. And the coffees we ordered came lukewarm. Plus they forgot one of the orders. Why not serve us the coffee and then the food? We waited a while. We were told the missed coffee would be about 20 minutes. Like seriously? Anyway, we waited. And it got to the point where we waited too long. We decided to just leave and forget the coffee. Not to mention they decide to make it seem like it's our fault!? I don't bash any place I dine at. But I will not be returning here. Try getting a waiter to take the orders. Instead of having us get back up, walk to the front desk, and have the person who works the kiosk take our orders after we sit down.

The environment the owners have created is one of a kind in New Haven. Great coffee, food/pastries, music is always nice. Though, best thing is the barista/server team they have cultivated. Shout out Jozzy, Estelle and Jarlenys for always being so helpful, friendly and making great lattes.

Edit: @ the owner of pistachio cafe comment. Hello Pistachio Cafe, First of all, I want to clarify that we 100% understand your staff aren’t robots—nobody is expecting perfection. But that doesn’t mean the service should be lacking. Let’s be honest: there simply isn’t enough staff. There’s no hostess for the dining area, which makes it confusing for first-time visitors, and nobody greets you upon arrival. The girl at the register was not only taking orders but also managing the pastry area and running to the back to serve food. That’s clearly too much for one person to handle efficiently. The strong presence you have on social media led us to believe we’d experience something far more refined than what we actually encountered. We were genuinely excited to try it, but the reality didn’t match the expectation. This was our experience, and I wish you could understand that instead of dismissing it. Your response honestly reflects a lack of understanding of your establishment and your clientele. Thank you, and have a blessed day. Recently visited Pistachio Cafe with a group of seven. While the food was decent, nothing particularly standout, the experience was overshadowed by poor service. We waited about 90 minutes from the time we sat down until our food arrived, and even then, three orders were still missing. Throughout our visit, no one greeted us or checked up on our table, which was disappointing. It also seemed like they were short-staffed, which may have contributed to the delays. On a positive note, the location and aesthetic of the cafe were nice. Overall, I’d rate the experience a 5/10.
Romina J — Google review
Today was the first time when I went to that place and I was disappointed. I expected to try delicious breakfast and pastries, but what you see in the picture doesn’t match the taste as it is. I spent 130 for 3 people and no one was impressed with the food.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Totally Worth the Hour Drive! Drove an hour for coffee and zero regrets Pistacho Cafe absolutely delivered. From the moment we walked in, Jackie and Piper were rockstars. They took amazing care of me and my partner Cody like we were regulars, not two caffeine-deprived road warriors. I had the pistachio latte (because, obviously), and it was pure magic in a cup. Cody went for the iced spiced pumpkin chai, and let me tell you fall exploded in our mouths in the best way possible. I ended up drinking his entire latte on our drive home! We also had to try their famous rose latte and Cody loves everything lavender so we sipped on a hot lavender latte too while cozying up in their “vintage swang” dining room - comfortable and throwback with Sinatra faintly covering up conversations. Between the incredible drinks and the top-tier service, this place is 100% worth the gas money. Already planning our next excuse to “accidentally” be in the area. Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Attentiveness 10/10 “Would definitely recommend 👍🏽”

Pizza House is a renowned pizza joint located in New Haven, Connecticut, known for its unique style of pizza that has gained national recognition. The city is rich in Italian tradition, particularly in the area of Wooster Square and the eastern part of downtown. One of the most famous pizzerias in New Haven is Pepes Pizza on Wooster Street, which has been a pioneer in shaping the local pizza scene. Additionally, Sallys, located next door to Pepes Pizza, offers equally delicious pizzas.
Went back to see if Pizza House STILL has good pizza and IT DOES! Its ABSOLUTELY phenomenal. Nice thin crust and sliced in squares with the Right amount of their signature sauce. I enjoy their Sausage/Pepperoni with Garlic and you will THANK me later! Great job for maintaining a good PIZZA when I need it most!

This was one of few pizza places that I have not tried in Downtown New Haven. It has a great atmosphere. You can easily enjoy your pie eating in. Since it seems like they don't have an online ordering system, I had to call to place my order. The small Pepperoni pie came out after 20 minutes. I don't know what they use to cook their pizza, but the crust finish feels and tastes like if it was cooked in a pan. No, it is not thick. But IMO it tastes like it. Very good taste overall. Would eat here again, especially if it's late night and I'm a little boozy.

I came in late, just hoping to grab a quick bite, but instead I got one of the best experiences ever. The young guy working the oven welcomed me with a big smile and, believe it or not, gave me his own pizza that he was making for himself. 🫶 That first bite said it all — perfectly crispy crust, gooey cheese, and flavor that felt like comfort and kindness in every slice. The staff was friendly, funny, and clearly loved what they do. Pizza House isn’t just about great food — it’s about great people who make you feel right at home. 🍕❤️

You want a New Haven dive bar? This is the place, great food, solid beer list (cans and tap). Service is outstanding, props to Victoria the bartender on a crazy night with an event working the bar by herself and staying on top of everything and still friendly the whole time! Will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

Heads up that they charge an automatic 20% gratuity on takeout orders Edited to respond: I was told by your staff that a 20% gratuity is automatic on takeout orders as part of a new policy. I wanted to give folks a heads up

Three Sheets scratches that little dive bar itch, where I don't actually wanted to be surrounded by sullen binge drinkers, but I don't want hipster trappings and salvaged wood on the walls either. Dark and cold, but not dingy, this bar is perfect for sloppy conversations, a bit of pool, and multiple rounds of pickles prepared in different ways. Beer prices are pretty standard, and the food is on the more expensive side, but you get what you pay for. The regular cheeseburger was exquisitely cooked and flavorful, and the pickled fries in the side were delicious, but quite strong for as many as they give you. The fried pickles (served as chopped spears) are my second favorite in New Haven, and the pickle spear served with my burger rounded out the acidic trinity. The folks working behind the beer and in the kitchen were extra nice too, tracking us as we moved to different seats twice. Finally, in spite of its rugged look, they have a lot of good looking vegan and vegetarian options with actual care put into the recipe, and not a token Veggie Pattie to quiet vegans who stumble into the bar with friends.

Met up with a couple of friends at Three Sheets. It was my first time visiting. The drinks were okay, and the food was not bad for bar food, but the atmosphere was definitely enjoyable. Met two of the New Haven Old Black Rugby players. They were doing a fundraiser. The male bartender, I believe his name was Jake or Jacob, was a lot of fun. Loved his personality. Overall, it is a decent place to meet up with friends or meet new ones.

Comfortable and clean. Hip dive bar atmosphere. Great vegan chicken salad sandwich and smoky flavored fries! Fair prices.

Zuppardi's Apizza is a family-owned pizzeria known for its cozy atmosphere adorned with family photographs. Visitors rave about the standout baby clam pies and the delicious Original veggie pizza, which can be customized with additional toppings like pepperoni and sausage. The New Haven-style crust is described as perfectly baked—chewy and crispy without being overly charred. The White Clam pie is particularly popular, featuring freshly shucked clams that deliver a delightful burst of freshness.
I have been firmly in the Pepe’s camp for the best New Haven style pizza for over 40 years. But after finally trying Zupardi’s in West Haven, CT, I’ve got a new #1. We had two pizzas: 🍕 Their “Special” — a medium red pie with sausage, mushroom, and mozzarella. The sausage was fennel-forward and generously spread, the mushrooms added a subtle sweetness without making the crust soggy, and the char was spot on. 🦪 A white fresh clam and mozzarella pie — briny, fresh, and perfectly balanced. Zupardi’s just hits a different note, and its just a reminder of how high the bar can go. The place itself is small and not fancy, but the pizza's the thing.

Stopped here on our way to jersey. Got the pepperoni and garlic pizza. It was EXCELLENT!! Had Modern last week, which was also EXCELLENT!! I think I need to give an extra call out for Zuppardi's. It was a tough decision, but a big part of it was the cheese in the shaker, which I'm pretty sure it's Romano instead of parm. Love Romano, like parm. The Romano gets the extra point(s). Will definitely repeat!

Authentic New Haven-Style Apizza We wrapped up the July 4th weekend at Zuppardi’s in West Haven—and it was fantastic. Thin, crispy crust with just the right char and a rich, balanced tomato sauce. We started with a small antipasto salad ($10)—fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor. Our sausage, onion, and pepper pie ($17) featured homemade fennel sausage and sweet, tender peppers and onions. Friends got bacon & onion and plain sausage pies—everything was a hit, with leftovers to take home. Pizza sizes are generous; a small feeds one, and a medium easily serves two. They offer beer, wine, and desserts with old fashioned Libby’s Italian ices. We arrived around 5 PM, got a parking spot next door, and waited only 25 minutes despite the holiday weekend. Atmosphere is no frills, casual old time pizza restaurant. Zuppardi’s is celebrating 90 years—and it’s easy to taste why. A must-visit for true apizza lovers!

We wrapped up our tour of “The Big 3” at Zuppardi’s, and I’m so glad we decided to make that third stop, after thinking it couldn’t get any better, but it did! We ordered the special, the white clam, and a Caesar salad (you know, to balance out all the apizza we’d been throwing down the hatch). The salad was light and refreshing. The white clam pie was briny and bursting with flavor. But the special—man, oh man—was that something else! The house-made fennel sausage really knocks this apizza out of the park. Thank you, Zuppardi’s, for another fantastic example of what New Haven is known for. I only hope I get the chance to visit again one day!

Good size pizza even if you order a size small, tons of topping options, and impactful flavors. The slice is thin with a slightly thicker crust, which can be hard to eat with the weight of the toppings. The slices are kind of cut a little funny though, and it was hard to eat on the table as they had a little tray for the two pizzas, but when I was on the bottom, which was harder to access at times. This is my first time trying New Haven pizza, certainly won’t be my last

Wow ... Get the sausage pizza! We drove over an hour to get there short wait( like 20mins) we ordered 3 pies...The sausage special, clam, and mozzarella... Worth the drive and wait. Highly recommend

First of all, the service is atrocious. Like, there was none. We ordered our pizza and waited a long time for it. When it came, the taste was delicious, so it wasn't the cook's fault, or the recipe, but it was barley warm. Not even hot enough for a nice cheese pull. The waitress set the food down and NEVER CAME BACK. Later, she brought us our check and walked off again. We wanted to order dessert but she didn't even give us the chance. It was terrible. Next time, we'll go somewhere else. It's not like there's any shortage of aPizza spots in town!

Three of us were there early Saturday afternoon. Ordered the medium special (homemade sausage and mushroom) and the white clam. Thin charred crust, delectable and fresh toppings. Best 'apizza' we've ever had. Highly recommend this West Haven gem. Excellent service, no frills atmosphere and get down to an amazing meal.

First time here in years. Cupcakes are absolutely delicious. So many choices and each one is great. Cake is tender and flavorful and each icing is rich, creamy and perfect. Not too sweet. Highly recommend.

Found the Sugar Bakery while searching for bakeries nearby we decided to take a chance the store is clean very well organized, and the staff were absolutely friendly, helpful and patient with us! The wait time was reasonable. We needed a birthday cake and found it easy to purchase one without having to order ahead of time. The cake along with cupcakes were absolutely deliciously moist not too sugary just right! The frosting was delicious, fluffy, and light. The cake was exquisite not too dense not too moist perfect. Our son who does not like cakes or could never finish one finished this cake. He said, “It’s absolutely delicious.” We will definitely be back for special occasions!

I love this Indian restaurant. The place is so cute and relaxing, and the guy that attended to me was super polite when I wanted him to elucidate further on the menus. What attracted me to this restaurant is the fact that as an African we have similar recipes. I love the way they prepare their hot source- taste really good. This restaurant is pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal traffic. There’re also social distancing measures in place if you decide to dine-in. There’s wheelchair accessible entrance for the differently able. #IndianRecipe #IndianRestaurant #Food #Cozy #Travel #NewHaven #CT #SocialDistancing

We quickly stopped by this place to pick some lunch. This looked like a casual deli like place serving Indian food. I loved the concept. We got a chicken Kathi roll and a bowl with rice and chicken tikka. The bowl came with a good portion of salad and topping. It was very filling, tasty and healthy. The Kathi roll was great, however my bar is too high ( I was born and raised in Calcutta, india, the birthplace of Indian street style kathi roll). This one is more like a wrap, than kathi roll - however, this is the closest one I must admit. The food was fresh, and served hot. The service could be a bit faster. Overall we enjoyed the meal a lot. If the place is still in business, please pay a visit.

The only change from the visit in 2018 - is the increase in number of happy customers, filling up the walls with feedback posts. Everything else remains the same - best quality food, fresh vegetables and meat, patient service. People who work around, are blessed to taste all the available delicious options. With one visit/meal, you are limited to taste only limited options in the buffet.

York St Noodle House is a small Asian restaurant located at 166 York St #1. It offers a variety of noodle soups, dumplings, and Pan-Asian stir-fry dishes along with bubble tea. The atmosphere at York St Noodle House is pleasant, making it a great spot to enjoy authentic Asian cuisine.
Get the 2 combo roll, such a great value and the rolls were high quality. Lively neighborhood atmosphere but a few homeless around the hospital area. Wasn't too busy on a Friday night.
Adam W — Google review
We found this restaurant to be a great spot for a cozy, satisfying noodle meal. The noodle soup was warm, rich, and comforting, with tofu, scallions, and cilantro adding a fresh and flavorful balance. The pan-fried dumplings, drizzled with a slightly spicy sauce, were another highlight – their crispy exterior and tender filling were absolutely delicious. The fried wontons were perfectly crunchy and made for a delightful appetizer. However, we were a bit disappointed that the staff wasn’t able to accommodate our request to mix different types of noodles for a more creative meal. While the presentation and ingredients were somewhat ordinary, the comforting and well-executed flavors made up for it. Whenever we’re craving a no-fuss bowl of noodles or tasty Chinese dumplings, we’ll certainly keep this spot in mind.

I ordered the spicy wok basil noodle (which is like a drunken noodle), and it was pretty tasty. My husband had the stew noodle. I heard that it’s not as good as the old location, but it’s still a good everyday dinner type of place.

Affordable Asian food restaurant. The menus vary from Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese. I had meatball noodles, pho, gyoza, and avocado sushi. All taste decent. Portions are big for my Asian stomach. Service was quick. Overall it's a pretty nice lunch to fill up our stomach

I have absolutely no idea how this place has 4 stars. I've been an Executive Chef myself for over a decade, and oh boy would I be incredibly embarrassed if this food ever went out at my restaurant. My wife and I ordered two ramen bowls and two salads with "Kani salad" and avocado on it. The ramen bowls were completely inedible. The pork was "tender" but so dry it was like chewing on sawdust. The broth? Don't even get me started on that. The smell of it alone made my wife and I gag. Now let's get into the salad. The mesclun greens were slimy and rotting, the avocado was brown, I don't even know how to describe the dressing, and the "Kani salad" was literally just fake shredded crab with nothing on it. I would give this meal negative stars if that were possible. What an utter disappointment. We will NEVER be trying this place again.
Josh M — Google review
Excellent food! I always order a variation of curry tofu noodle soup! The broth is creamy with just the right amount of spice. Crab Rangoon was amazing, we even ordered one to go. Definitely recommend the Ramen bowl and pineapple fried rice as well! The atmosphere and service was slow however it was a Sunday evening after predicted snow, looking forward to continuing to come and experience different aspects of the menu.
Danielle P — Google review
We got a boa kfc bun, chicken dumplings, Wide wok noodle, Shio ramen tofu, and Yaki soba. The boa was delicious and if you're going to be here get at least one, you will probably want more. The chicken dumplings were very tasty. The wide noodle was good and has a little broccoli and cabbage so you don't feel so bad about having so many noodles. The yaki soba could easily be skipped, nothing that special or unique here just noodles with some veggies and some protein. The ramen was ok but was just a little off. Good food at decent prices.

Waiting over 40 min for my takeout food. That is way too long for (fried rice and chicken wings). They are quick to charge you and mark your meal as “ready” per the suggested time but had no comments when I explained 40mins is too long and they should provide a discount. Other times I have come here, it’s been slow service as well. Food taste ok but the wait is not worth it.

I just went today, I had the cheeseburger meal and it was so juicy really good. What I'm really writing this review is to talk about the service. Amazing!! The employees were so nice, polite and attentive. Customer Service was 11/10. Thank you!
Jackeline O — Google review
The burger was great, and I try to give people the benefit of a doubt because it was understaffed, but they really need to re-train people on customer service. I placed an order through Uber Eats that was supposed to be almost ready by the time I arrived, but after almost 30 minutes of waiting while watching people that ordered after me get their order, I asked about mine. It was just sitting in a bag with a bunch of other orders that were never called out. Nobody took a moment to call out the orders even though there was a bunch of them sitting on the counter, which is really poor service. They should have more staff working, especially when they have specials designed to attract more customers. This is the kind of experience that makes you never want to go back to a place again. Do better Five Guys.....
Kevin S — Google review
I have been to this Five Guys a few times now, and every visit has been consistently great. The food is exactly what you expect: fresh, hot, and cooked to order. What makes this location stand out is the staff. They are always friendly, quick, and seem genuinely happy to be there. The restaurant is kept clean even during busy hours, and I appreciate how attentive they are with customers. Definitely one of the better Five Guys I have been to, and I will keep coming back.
Adam K — Google review
This was probably my first time back at a five guys in like 3-4 years. The burger and fries are still really good but I just don’t think I’ll ever get over their prices. They charge $8 for a plain hot dog! Anyway, I got the bacon cheeseburger, a regular Cajun fry and a small drink. The total was just under $24 before they asked for a tip. A bacon cheeseburger (which comes with two patties) is $13 now and a regular Cajun fry is $6 plus a drink for about $3. I think from now on when I’m craving a decent burger, I might come here and get just that. You’re talking almost $30 after a tip, that’s a steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse or almost a steak dinner depending on which cut of meat you get there. It’s too bad cause I’d come here more often if they just had normal prices.
Albert R — Google review
I go to this five guys all the time and have never had any problems until today. I went into the store and swiftly placed my order and while waiting one of the employees Xavier I think his name was verbally assaulted me saying I was “fun sized” and “looked easy to pick up”. One of his other coworkers joined in talking about trying to shoot their shots at customers. I left very uncomfortable and will be filling a formal complaint. Your workers should have more self control especially when I was the only woman in the store at the time. 0 STARS

Hungry and just need something that packs a punch, deliver on flavor and crosses off all the cravings, then Five Guys does that. A get it you pay a bit more than your regular fast food joint, but the appreciation behind that fresh grilled PREMIUM burger patty when peered with fresh condiments tells you its worth the money with every bite. If I had to guess they focused on customer service first because that was also top tier. Nope this is not a paid review but I believe you should always praise establishments when they get it right and Five Guys they getting it RIGHT!!
Baba L — Google review
Very very over priced burgers. I took my nephews there. Burgers are fresh made in front of you. Also on the menu are hotdogs and fries, Grill cheese, shakes. Not much. For a self-proclaimed burger place, why not have a veggie burger on the menu? All I had was fries and peanuts (peanuts which are all you can eat, in big boxes throughout the restaurant, and very good i must say!). The fries are nothing to write home to mom about. And watched my nephews eat $8-10 burgers, sides extra! Never again. But at least we can say we have been, right? Easy on and off parkway. Clean, professional, you will have to wait bc it's cooked to order, but it's not crazy long wait.
Shannon P — Google review
I’ve been coming here for years and the food is consistently great. The burgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes. My only two issues is over the years the quantity of fries has dropped you get less now then we did in the past and they no longer offer the cherry chocolate shakes anymore.

A very solid 8.5/10 for the pizza. Not as good as some of the other steadfasts in New Haven, but still far and above a lot of other stuff you can find around the country. Kind workers with fast service. Got both slices (2 slices pictured, they're massive) and a full pizza. Full pizza was better due to freshness but slices were still totally worth it. Dough and cheese are both really great. Large variety of sodas, obviously they have the go to Foxon Park classics there too.

Tried just a pepperoni slice, it was $6.50 and huge so okay, cool. But started eating it and wasn’t impressed. The crust was pretty good, crunchy base and a little puff to it, tasty. The sauce wasn’t bad, had a little sweetness which was fine. But the more I ate the more I realized there was something wrong with the cheese, the mozzarella tasted like school cafeteria pizza - like cheap frozen pizza. It was wild. I like the char on the crust and the rest of it was okay but the cheese threw me off so bad I couldn’t finish it. A shame

Jordan's Hot Dogs & Mac is a cozy counter-serve spot located on State St. It offers a variety of inventive fast food options, including a hot dog topped with mac 'n' cheese. Customers rave about the delicious and unique hot dog creations such as the Kansas City dog with BBQ glaze, cheddar cheese, and bacon, as well as the New York Dog with sweet relish, sauerkraut, and grilled onions.
This is the first hot dog restaurant I have reviewed and it’s a good one. Very gourmet with all beef and turkey options and an extensive menu with sides. Really nice place to eat, highly recommend.
Chris M — Google review
(Last visited in September of 2023.) Hanging out in New Haven, CT after doing some day-drinkin' and it's time to soak up the alcohol before we head back home so we stopped into Jordan's Hot Dogs & Mac who have been around for over a decade to see what it's hittin' for! Atmosphere/Appearance: No frills. Straightforward comfort food spot. TVs on the wall, black wooden paneling, some beat-up booths, bright-lighting and loud music. Lol. You're here for the food, nothing else. Service: You go up to the counter to order your food then it's brought out to you so nothing crazy, but very simple. Food: I got to sample quite a few things here, so let's go through them, but first I just want to let y'all know that this is a B.Y.O.B. spot! Woo! The O.G. Mac Dog: It's macaroni & cheese, bacon, jalapenos on an all-beef hot dog. There were so many different hot dogs to choose from, but I had to go with the original. This was SO FLAVORFUL. It tasted like a Nathan's dog, (but is actually a Hormel's dog), but altogether it was fantastic. The mac & cheese was creamy, the bacon was crispy and the jalapenos added just a hint of spice and a little acid. This would be the perfect thing to sober you up after a day/night of partying. Sweet Potato Fries: These were cool. They were crispy and very simple. They could use a bit more salt, but it was all good. Onion Rings: These didn't look like they were made here and that's fine. It's like I've seen these before at other restaurants and that's okay. Restaurants get stuff from the same suppliers so it saves them time. Moving on... Lemon Pepper Wings: These were a dry rub and the wings were crispy. These were very lemon-y and I liked that compared to them being too salty. The flavors were balanced very well. Garlic Parmesan Wings: These were delicious. The ingredients were caked on and that's always a good sign. It was creamy and the parmesan was a bit stronger than the garlic. It tasted like there was some extra hidden ingredients like a ranch or something that was in there, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I wish there was a bit more balance there, but it's all good. I liked them. Sweet Chili: These were not your traditional "sweet chili" wings. They had a Buffalo flavor aspect that I really enjoyed and I was literally licking my fingers after eating these! Jordan's Glaze: Another delicious flavor. The wings were excellent. There was a good hoisin flavor here that presented itself up front which gave a sweet, salty, umami flavor and was well-balanced. Philly Cheesesteak: On their cheesesteak is sliced sirloin, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapenos and cheese wiz. The bun was nice and soft. It was executed so well. The Maillard reaction on the little bits of steak added an extra touch that I really enjoyed. Though.. the sandwich as an entirety was a bit salty. Banana Pudding: This was really good, but comparing it to the best I've ever had (Magnolia Bakery), but this was EXCELLENT. The wafers were soft, but I was just hoping for a little more banana. Strawberry Banana Pudding: Everything mentioned above, but a little more exotic with the bold strawberry flavors. Really, really good. Value: The food is cheap, but doesn't necessarily taste like it. You won't blow your budget here and that's kinda the point. Without all the frills and overhead, Jordan's is allowed to bring you comfort foods and they can solely focus on the flavors. In conclusion, I loved it here. The food will stick to your ribs. Lol. But visit here in moderation. There's a reason they've been here for so long and I'm so happy I got the chance to check them out.

Good food and nice people! We got the hot dog with Mac and cheese on it and the burger special going on that comes with a quart of lemonade. The food was very tasty! The burger was flavorful and the hot dog had a nice taste to it. I liked the jalapeños in it. The fries were also really good, nice and crispy. And the lemonade was so good too. The man at the front was super nice and friendly, overall vibes were great.

I know this is a hot dog place… but let me tell you about the WINGS. Anything that was fried from here was delectable and addicting. How do they get the wings so crispy?! And the sauces were delicious as well. The fries have to be fried twice because I been looking for a place that serves fries this crispy. The hot dog to be honest was okay. When i go back i will try another just to see if my mind changes. But i absolutely will be back for the wings and fries. The girl who rang it in was friendly too and very accommodating.

The hot dog was delicious! However for a place with Mac and Cheese in the name the Mac was...mid at best. The lemonade was very good and the cashier was kind!

I'm very Disappointed. I spent almost $40 with delivery and tip and the only thing I could eat and enjoy was the Chicken Wings and they forgot my ranch. For all the other reviews tha state It taste old or Burnt.... I would have to WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE. The fries were brunt, chili lacked flavor and was too sweet with no salt. CHANGE THE COOKING OIL OR DON'T FRY THINGS ON HIGH HEAT.you can't taste anything on the food but brunt grease.

Ricky D's Rib Shack is a local barbecue joint that offers a variety of mouthwatering dishes such as brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. They also serve delicious sides like collard greens, mac n cheese, yams, coleslaw, sweet potato fries, and cornbread. While some may find the prices a bit high for the portion sizes offered, it is still considered solid BBQ.
I've been here a few times, and this is top tier BBQ. I love grabbing one of the Soul Bowls to-go. For the price of a fast food value meal, you get amazing smoky, tangy and tender brisket, collared greens, Mac & cheese, rice, and beans. Amazing flavor, quality, and value. Definitely worth checking this place out if you haven't yet. I'll keep coming back for sure.

This place was great! I had a combo #2, which came with half slab of ribs, 6 wings, 2 sides & cornbread. My absolute favorite was the mac! I bought another one before I left. The ribs were tender & the wings (a rub) was fabulous! It was a lot of food, so I have leftovers & I can't wait to eat it tomorrow! Fantastic service! We didn't wait long & everything came out hot. Great location & plenty of parking. I will definitely be going again!

Somebody finally got it right! This was my first visit to the location on Winchester Ave, New Haven CT, in the Science Park District. I was truly impressed. The atmosphere is clean, inviting, and family-friendly. The barbecue ribs were tender, juicy, and smoked to perfection. I met the owner, Ricky D, who has his own signature BBQ sauce and seasonings. His BBQ has just the right amount of twang & heat. We tried the wings as well with baked beans and cole slaw. Dinners come with 2 sides & cornbread. We had Mac & Cheese & Collard Greens, which were absolutely delicious. You can tell that Ricky D puts his heart & soul into what he does. If you are looking for BBQ I highly recommend Ricky D's Rib Shack. The next time, I'm going to try his brisket. With that being said, I'll be back!

I tried the family dinner, and it was absolutely delicious! I had no idea this restaurant even existed. I just happened to be driving by and decided to stop in. I ordered the ribs, collard greens, and potato salad. I couldn’t decide on a side, so the chef brought me a sample of the potato salad to help me choose (how nice). The cornbread was moist, and everything was full of flavor. I’ll definitely be back!

By far the best BBQ in CT, let alone New Haven. Authentic flavor with genuine care in the food. Good portions and reasonable prices. I started coming here before covid but haven't recently been after moving. Today I got to stop in and see the same friendly faces I did years ago, and the food is still as amazing as I remember. I absolutely cannot recommend Ricky D's enough. If you're driving by or even want to take a trip, this is a MUST VISIT!!

First time here! Ordered the baked potato with brisket! Included sour cream, butter, cheese and bbq sauce. I like baked potatoes but I LOVED the one I ordered from here today. The brisket was juicy and tender and the potato was a decent size! Chipotle Mexican Grill is a popular fast-food chain known for its customizable Mexican dishes like burritos, tacos, and bowls. Customers can personalize their orders with a variety of ingredients. While some patrons have noted occasional shortages of certain items and wait times for food preparation, the flavors of the grilled chicken and the combination of rice, lettuce, and sour cream are highlighted as enjoyable components.
Who doesn’t like a chipotle burrito bowl? Pretty normal chipotle, there was a lack of ingredients and I had to wait for the staff to make the chicken. The flavors of the chicken gave the bowl a nice meaty and grill like flavor. Rice is always nice for carbs and blends well with other flavors. Add lettuce for some crunch and sour cream for a refreshing taste/feeling. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was not amazing. Overall, it’s a chipotle.
Alex Y — Google review
Ordered my usual, asked for fajita veggies. The server said they don’t have them on Sundays. Chicken was low and I didn’t receive a full portion. Also there was strange connective tissue in my chicken. Chicken on the grill wasn’t even half way cooked yet. Garbage piled up overflowing the cans. Wasn’t told my total and didn’t get a receipt, did they stop providing those?
Jen N — Google review
Yesterday, I went to Chipotle to pick up some food for me and my friend. Here's my experience, in summary: 1. I stood for 76 minutes between when I placed our order and when I received our food. Some other customers waited for even longer than I did. 2. After I went home, I realized that the bag I was handed after 76 minutes did not contain our order; it was someone else's. 3. The other customer's order, as given to me, was seemingly incomplete. It consisted of two half-filled rice bowls with beans and sour cream (no meats, salsas, etc.) and some chips without any dip. 4. The restaurant was anarchic and astonishingly filthy. 5. I saw some practices and circumstances that, in my opinion, violated the FDA Food Code (see 4-903.11[A and C], 4-904.11[A and B], and 5-501.19[A, B, and C] in the 2022 version, for example).
Andrew B — Google review
It was a terrible experience. We went more than two hours before closing and the server was throwing the utensils around with anger while preparing our bowls. The rice and chicken were almost empty and they did not refill, so we got whatever was left at the bottom which is probably half the usual amount compared to other locations. We asked for fajita veggies and he just said ‘no’. Upon asking for an explanation, he said the batch being cooked was only for online orders. The cashier said ‘you should have looked before you ordered’. Would give zero stars if we could.

Walked in the lady serving the food ignored us at first then served us with an attitude. Ordered a salad bowl, they didn't have the regular salad that they use, gave me romaine lettuce and it had more butts then it did lettuce!! The rice was hard undercooked!! Completely unsatisfied! Definitely not going there again!

This is a good place to go when you are very hungry and want a quick, reliably filling meal. There are good vegetarian options; the black beans and pinto beans are both vegetarian, as are the "sofritos," which are made out of tofu. The quality of Chipotle seems to have gone down a bit over the years, and the food doesn't seem as fresh as it used to. Nonetheless, there are so many options for toppings here that you can usually make a bowl or burrito filled with things that seem appetizing to you. They recently instituted their queso dip, which I was very excited about. However, the queso dip is uremarkable and does not compare to real Austin style queso dip. They charge extra for pretty much everything you would want to put on your bowl (queso, guacamole, chips), which jacks up the final price when it is time to check out. They do give out free cups for water that you can fill with water or seltzer. Overall, this place gives large portions of filling food with lots of options. They have good vegetarian options and lots of flexibility if you desire a healthy meal or a fattening feast. Go here if you are super hungry and can't wait for anything else. Highlights: Corn salsa Beans Sofritos Guacamole when it is green Avoid: Guacamole when it is brown or when you are broke

STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!! Today I thought, I want some fresh Chipotle for lunch, so I walked the 5 blocks from my office at Yale, went up to the counter to order around 1:30 pm, was looking at the food to decide, and almost all the containers were empty. What steak was left, a few sparse pieces here and there, were all dried out and the sides of the container were all crusty. There was chicken, but it also looked really dried out with dry crusty chicken residue on the container sides. I wanted chicken and vegetables, but there were no cooked vegetables either. The guy behind the counter was stirring up a batch of guacamole, and just stared at me without expression or interest, even though he was wearing a mask, I could see it in his eyes, and he also didn't say hello or may I help you. So I asked him, "why are you out of veggies", he said, "because we didn't make any". In disbelief, I asked again, which I got the same reply, almost in defiance. The whole vibe changed for me, not only the overdried, crusty and mostly empty food containers, but the young man who couldn't care less, almost proud about it. Right then I decided to leave and walked away, as I exited the door I heard him talking about me to another coworker, and laughing. Never going back to this Chipotle's ever again. The only pro I can share is that it was a nice walk on a beautiful day. One star is too much.

I love chipotle but this store is notoriously the absolute worst store. The food is always cooked incorrectly, the orders are NEVER correct and the food is never fresh. Honestly my job orders from chipotle all the time but we just can’t/won’t with this one anymore. We go out of our way to two towns over to get it just to avoid the horrible management here.

I ordered a large grilled chicken salad and am very disappointed in what I received. The bulk of the salad is lettuce sprinkled with crumbs of chicken and some veggies. Completely unacceptable. I called the establishment and provided my feedback, requesting that the proportion of chicken and veggies be equal to that of the lettuce. The response from the person on the phone was that this is what customers like, which given customer reviews on Google, is not an accurate statement. I appreciate her willingness to listen to my feedback and hope that changes are made. That said, if you’re going to spend $14 on a grilled chicken salad, I recommend Whalley Pizza or literally anywhere else in the Westville neighborhood.

I realized they didn’t have Zabiha meat and asked to cancel the wings. The chef says “ How the hell do you find Halal meat in America”. It took me a minute to register what was said. I then asked for my money back. As a customer anyone that can talk to me like this IS NOT SOMEONE that should be preparing me food.

Cause I don't wanna get sick. I threw the slice in the trash.... And wasted five dollars and fifty cents.

I ordered a large white pizza with ricotta, spinach, and caramelized onions. When eating it with friends, we found a piece of a PLASTIC BAG, baked inside the pizza, under the cheese. We were all obviously shocked, and concerned, because many of us had already eaten a slice, and our friend bit into the plastic. We immediately called the restaurant and informed them of what happened. After answering their questions about the plastic (ex. where it was baked, what kind of plastic, etc.) and sending them picture evidence of the plastic pieces, they DENIED our claims, accused us all of lying, and refused to give us a refund, or a new pizza. The owner argued with us, saying "I've been doing this for 25 years" and acted as if he's never made a mistake in 25 years. We told him this is extremely unsanitary and dangerous. He then proceeded to hang up on us, yelling "Goodbye!". My friend is now worried that they ate some of the plastic, since they are allergic to latex. This is extremely unsanitary and dangerous. The customer service, and concern for customer safety was horrible. There was no apology. There was no consideration, concern, or empathy. Just disrespect and denial. There needs to be a health inspection here immediately. I am never eating here again.

Nestled in a cozy storefront, Town Pizza is a delightful gem that offers an array of New Haven and Sicilian-style pizzas, alongside calzones and some Greek specialties. This family-owned eatery has been a beloved spot for over 15 years, known for its warm atmosphere and friendly owners who make every visit feel like catching up with old friends. The pizza here is particularly noteworthy; many locals rave about the delicious flavors and perfect balance of bread to cheese.
Great food, great owners! My car broke down, hours from home, right in front of this shop. The hospitality was phenomenal as the owners let me stay and watch the Celtics game with them as AAA worked at a snails pace on my car for 4 hours. The owners provided great service, and welcomed me in as if I were family. The beautifully delicious chicken souvlaki distracted me from my car kicking the bucket outside. The stuffed grape leaves were top-notch as well. Amazing restraunt with great owners!
Riley D — Google review
There's something about a place that's been standing since '82, wearing its years like hard-earned medals on brick walls that have seen every season New Haven knows how to throw. Town Pizza sits there on Whitney, between the shadows of office buildings and the truth of what America really is, a place where pizza meets shawarma, and nobody blinks twice about it. The worn ceiling tiles tell you stories if you're willing to listen. They speak of four decades of steam rising from plates where Italian and Middle Eastern dreams collide: a gyro platter that arrives like a peace treaty, the meat carved thin enough to read yesterday's news through, laid beside potatoes that gleam like old gold under fluorescent lights that have seen better days. But here's the hard truth, the kind that sticks in your throat like olive pits: every restaurant in this city is a battlefield of reputation. Town Pizza fights its wars on multiple fronts - against the whispers about rodents that may or may not march at midnight, against the conspiracy theorists who see shadows where there's only za'atar dust, against the politics that somehow found their way onto plates meant for breaking bread, not breaking spirits. The vinyl booths hold you like an old friend who's seen better days but never lost their dignity. They've cradled students, lawyers, dreamers, and doubters. The tables between them are clean enough - not operating-room clean, but honest-clean, like weathered hands that have worked all day. What you get here is real - real in the way that makes some people uncomfortable. The Greek salad comes sharp with olives and truth, the tzatziki sauce cool against the heat of questions about inspection reports and political alignments that shouldn't matter when hunger is the only argument worth having. This is America in miniature: complicated, controversial, but still serving plates heavy with possibility. The pizza boxes go out the door under the same star that guides both the critics and the faithful. The pita bread still arrives warm, regardless of which side of the political divide you choose to butter it on. Should you eat here? That's between you and whatever god you thank for your daily bread. But know this, places like Town Pizza don't survive 41 New Haven winters by accident. They survive because they offer something true in a world starving for authenticity, even if that truth comes with a side of controversy and a slice of doubt. The food is good, good in the way that matters when you're hungry and tired of pretense. But this isn't just about food. It's about whether you believe in places that show their scars, that refuse to apologize for their complexity, that serve their story alongside their shawarma. Check the health reports if you must. Read the reviews until your eyes blur. But remember - sometimes the most honest meals come from places that have weathered every storm the city could summon, and still open their doors each morning, ready to serve whoever walks through them, carrying their own hunger and their own truth. Town Pizza stands there on Whitney, neither hero nor villain, just human - deeply, unapologetically human. Take from that what you will, and order accordingly.

Friscos pizza, new haven/east haven, 5 minutes from wooster st, & under $19.00 for a large after tax. 8.6/10 for me. Very under appreciated for the new haven scene. Everything about the pie was great. Undercarriage was almost overdone on a few slices but i know some of you prefer that anyways.

I really wish I could give 1/2 stars. This is a 4.5 all day. Its not perfect BUT it IS a high quality pizza. U can taste the fresh ingredients. A large pepperoni cost $23.62 after tax which is steep but for a high quality pizza, GREAT service, nice mom n pop atmosphere its a very very fair price. I would definitely eat here again.

The hidden gem of new haven pizza. Absolutely killer and delicious, it’s Wooster street pizza at a regular pizza place’s prices. They also do slices on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until they run out. Sausage and peppers pizza is also fire! Try that one too.

The owner is a wonderful person and helps animals anytime he can. I would like to give his pizza restaurant 5 stars but in all honesty I don’t think I would be honest doing that. The pizza is average and some people love it and others say it’s average. I am in the average group unfortunately. I don’t know how to explain anymore, other than I am a Pepe pizza lover and always get Pepe’s pizza and have since my parents ordered from them when I was 10 or so years old. I am now 70. I wanted to give them a try and many friends have recommended Friscos and love their pizza! I have tried all different times of the year hoping that during a particular season they would be better pertaining on what I ordered etc. I really want to love Friscos! Good people and fair prices though!

Had a train coming in like 10 minutes so decided to stop in for a bite. For a quick slice of pizza it was very good, it was hot and tasted good. But I'm mainly giving 5 stars for the service, the guys who cashed me out and got my slice of pizza were very nice. The eating area is rather small and there aren't very good seating options in the actual station, but if you can snag a table in the restaurant it's certainly superior to the options outside.
Floating H — Google review
Here is a recent positive review. The staff was friendly and helpful. The eating area wasn't the best, but this is train station soooooo... I asked for utensils and an extra pizza box and they gladly complied. The BBQ chicken pizza was great. The crust was not too thick but firm enough to hold up the generous toppings. The cheese was fresh, you could taste it. Not the pre-shredded with wood dust in it. The sauce was just right, not too sweet, not too spicy. The chicken was tender and they didn't skimp on the quantity. They also had a variety of bottled drinks as well as fountain. Other items available include Stromboli, pasta salad and green salads. They have daily and combo specials. Overall, was well pleased at having a hot food option on our way back from NYC.

My girlfriend went to buy a slice of pizza at night, she was treated extremely badly, very badly, a bald attendant treated her very badly, she felt extremely offended, with a lump in her throat because she was super polite and he was a huge jerk! I don't know how a place with such bad service can stay open, improve as a person.

It is an absolute disgrace this location is still here. The Indian cashier charges you for items such as plastic utensils , plastic bags and even salad dressing when you already purchased the salad! He also always charges a little bit more and covers it up by saying it’s just tips and taxes. Will not come back ever again

Service was slow for a slice of pizza . But I had a nice conversation with the lady drinking the IPA next to me (it was 9am). The only other downside was when I went to offer my friend a slice and she said ew and then pushed me into an oncoming train. Other then that pizza wasn’t bad!!!

Probably the worst crunch wrap supreme I’ve ever ordered…. My dog didn’t even want to eat it. Cold , burnt, and the lettuce was brown. I don’t care that it’s fast food the fact that they could serve this is beyond me…. Tonight I went to the Taco Bell in Milford. My dog approved. I love Taco Bell. Unfortunately this is my local Taco Bell. My experience with this place has been that my order will often be missing multiple items. On one occasion, I tried to call as soon as I realized about 10 minutes later when I had gotten home and the employee who picked up the phone became unresponsive once I identify the concern. I’m currently sitting in line at the drive-through to try to address this problem.

The ceiling was open with water leaking out of it. It's been like that the last few times I went. They just put a bucket under and let people walk around it. The food is delicious and they even fixed my taco when it was made wrong. It just sucked having to dodge water falling from the ceiling

The staff was rude, they don't listen to what was ordered and didn't have most of the food on the menu. The food at this restaurant is absolutely incredible, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The staff members are extremely pleasant and efficient, especially during busy dinner rushes. The tables and booths are impeccably clean, complemented by lovely plants adorning the windowsill.

Alpha Delta Pizza is a popular spot known for its quick service and satisfying food. While not claiming to be gourmet, the food is above average and perfect for those late-night cravings or post-drinking munchies. The pizza is particularly noteworthy, with fresh and flavorful slices that hit the spot every time. Customers appreciate the generous portions and crispy texture of their dishes. Had ordered a Steak and cheese grinder along with a vegetarian pizza. The grinder was a major disappointment. There was barely any food in it had Steak and cheese with lettuce and tomatoes. I have come here faithfully like every week for several months. Service is great, food is great. I love the lemongrass tofu. Yuba is also good, but lemongrass is where it's at. The veggies are fresh and when I was having stomach issues this was one of the few things my body didn't kill me over eating. Bahn mi, does a body good. They have a watermelon juice for the summer that is absolutely bomb.

The couple that runs the restaurant seemed really nice, so I kinda feel bad for posting this--- but I have to say this restaurant is super pricey--like needlessly so, given that it's geared towards the takeout market. As a Vietnamese person, I don't like that they put everything only in English--- takes away the authenticity and I can't even find what I want. The food itself is good, but due to customers having to pay for parking in that neighborhood, the price really freaks me out. I get that their main clientele work in the nearby office buildings, but still. Vietnamese food has gotten to be such a big hit in the US precisely because of affordability. Viet food that is expensive is less authentic because it's less accessible to the common man. I gotta add that not everything on their menu is expensive but the items that should be cheaper are indeed not cheap.
Don T — Google review
So first of all, I just happen to have the same name with the owner of the restaurant, I’m not him! But anyway, about the food, this place is absolutely fantastic! I and my friend have tried grilled fish rice noodle, cha lua rice noodle and Pho, all of them are amazing. Pho here has the southern style, so if you are from Hanoi, it will taste different, but it is delicious, definitely recommend it (they only have Pho on Friday tho). My friend loved the broth so much that he asked for extra rice to finish the soup. The place, however, don’t have rice so the owner gave him a loaf of bread for free instead! 100% coming back!

EDIT 9/11/19 UPDATE: I came back to get coffee for my coworkers after I posted my original review and the owner recognized it was me that left the most recent review (seen below). He said that I left a "harsh review" and spent about 10 mins complaining to me about the hardship of running this business. As for the pate spread, the owner explained to me that they do not offer that anymore but it still shows on the menu. I asked why did you not update the menu if we are anticipating to have certain things on a banh mi. As a Vietnamese American, I understand that not everyone can be catered to having an authentic Vietnamese meal. But it was very unnecessary to attack me for my "harsh review". I felt uncomfortable while I was waiting for my coffees to be made and was late for work due to this wait. Thankfully there was nobody there during this confrontation. I am not coming back to this establishment after this visit and I definitely would not recommend anyone coming here. If the owner cannot take a constructive criticism, I would not trust them with my food. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I very much enjoyed their coffee! It is strong and brewed with the French press like it is in Vietnam. However, the food is too overpriced for me. The broth for the pho was on the sweeter side. I went out for lunch with my friend and she was still eating, the cashier takes her bowl away as she asked if she was done with it. The fish sauce is very inconsistent, I had ordered bun one day and it was too sweet for me; got a different bun bowl and the fish sauce was on the sour side. My friend got herself a classic banh mi and it was missing the pate spread. The coffee is the reason why I gave it 3 stars, really want to give it 2.5 stars. I'm not sure because the times I've came, they were getting ready to close but the cashier person definitely made me feel rushed. I start off with two bowls of pho and she already gives me my total when I'm not even done ordering. There are other cheap Vietnamese restaurants in CT. I would only come back here for their coffee.

Subway is a casual counter-serve chain that offers customizable sandwiches and salads, catering to health-conscious individuals. The eatery provides an array of ingredients for customers to create their own sandwiches or salads. The ambiance is pleasant, and the staff members are professional. One customer had a positive encounter with an employee named Naveed who was friendly and maintained good hygiene practices. Overall, Subway is a clean store with attentive and engaging staff members.
Please AVOID this place. Stopped by for Tesla charging on our way from NYC to Boston at 8:10PM. We were a group of 4 adults, 2 year old and a nine month old baby. My wife and her friend went in and register was apparently closed even though they advertise they open till 10PM. We were not told the register was closed when we placed the order. After struggling get the register working for 30 mins and refusing to take cash, we were stranded there late night middle of nowhere with two young babies. There were couple of cars circling outside in the vacant and dark parking lot. My friend had 911 ready on his phone and me trying to convince my wife and her friend to get out of there. It took us several minutes after we hit Rt-15 to feel safe. It was a horrendous experience and I will avoid this Tesla supercharger forever. Moreover the sandwich was equally bad and the service was rude. Also, I have not seen anyone take over 20 minutes to fix two sandwiches - foot longs. My wife worked in a subway restaurant for over 2 years. This was the one of the worst experiences of my life.
Prabin S — Google review
So I showed up shortly before 9pm and when I arrived I saw 2 people leave the store with food in hand and when I walked in there were 2 people ordering sandwiches. The girl behind the counter (didn't catch her name, young skinny African-American girl, this was the evening of March 19th, I want the owner to read this and know which employee is turning down business) asked if I was there to order sandwiches and I said I was. She then told me that they were closed and she hadn't had a chance to turn off the sign. I then informed her that it says they close at 10pm online and she said "yeah I'm not sure why it says that but we close at 9pm". So she either was telling the truth and the owner needs to update the Google information because the only reason I went there is because it said they were open or she lied because she didn't want to work. The reason I'm pretty sure she was lying is because every other Subway on this side of the state closes at 10pm. Are they the only location to close at 9pm? Probably not. Whatever the case I was really upset because my fiance was starving, didn't want to cook and we have a 2 month old at home. Anyone looking to get Subway don't waste your time going to this location. If you just drive down Whalley Ave towards New Haven there is another Subway and they close at 10, like it says online. Little did she know I write a review for every single business I visit, I hope the owner realizes she is turning down business and we live around the corner and get Subway at least once a week, i decided to give this location a shot because i dint know there was one closer to home. Big mistake I should have stuck with the one that I knew and usually went to.

If I could give negative stars I would do that, I happened to stop by this place as I ran out of my Tesla car charge today afternoon, being hungry I thought a right place to quickly grab a sub, the person with the Tattoo all over the neck was so awful and acted like a complete jerk and served a burnt sub, when asked he refused the service, If I was the owner, I would have fired him on the spot. I ended up throwing the sub as it did not make sense to eat. Being a small business owner myself, I understand how much of time and money that it takes to build and run a business, having a employee like the person mentioned above with such attitude drives away customers and does not understand what it takes to run a business, as some of them work few hours on a hourly basis. Shame on such employees who does not care about the work, owner or the customers.

I come to this location all the time for my lunch whenever I’m in town for my business for years. Usually it’s a delight. The same people work there, food is good, and the location is clean. Same workers always greet me. I came back and I will never be back again. The food was horrible. The meat looks discolored and slimy where it’s displayed. The location is dirty. The bathroom is horrendous. It’s close to how disgusting a port-a potty is. The bread is hard. The employees roll their eyes and are rude when you ask anything. I am not sure what happened to this location. What happened to the manager I knew T that ran this location that I would stop by to say hi to. Whenever she was working service was top-notch five stars so I ask where T is and no one has a clue who I am talking about. I have repeatedly tried giving this location another chance. I am done. I’ll take my money elsewhere with a location that actually cares.

His family was hanging out in the seating area and you could just hear the love and fun the were having sitting there with each other. It was friendly vibe. Wish I lived closer I would support this small business every day.

Jerk tofu was really good, Mac was ok , I do not recommend getting the dumplin. I'm gonna go again and see how everything else is, on the menu. Sadly they only make chicken drumsticks some days , but they said they update thier menu daily so make sure to check the menu before ordering instead of ordering what you see in the reviews.

My wife and I stopped here on our way from Yale New Haven Hospital to the State Street station. The two sandwiches we ordered came on fresh bulky rolls with plenty of Boar's Head cold cuts. Toppings (tomato, red onion, horseradish, etc.) were fresh. The folks behind the counter were friendly, fast, and appeared to genuinely care about customer satisfaction. Steady traffic, but fast service. The workers greeted several customers by name so it seems to be a nice place for both locals and people passing through.

I love 9th Square Market! Their Middle Eastern platters and their sandwiches, especially the falafel and the steak and cheese with everything on it, “The Justin” they call it, are fantastic. One of my main lunch spots. Eddy and his family are so nice.

Stopped by for a quick bite in a rush and asked for whatever cold sandwich he’d make for himself— ending up getting a turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, purple onion, cucumber, mayo— and there was no line so it was ready in 3 mins. Came with bag of chips and pickle wedge + bag. Delicious and perfect for a hot day! Super friendly service, will definitely come back again!

It’s not on the menu but the Syrian platter here is one of New Haven’s best kept secrets. Let them pick something different and tasty for you every time. I’ve introduced all my coworkers to this place and the Syrian platter is all we ever get!
