Nestled near Yale, Anaya Sushi & Ramen is a charming bistro that offers an array of Japanese delights, including sushi, sashimi, and ramen. Known for its enticing $21 all-you-can-eat option, this eatery also features a diverse menu with rolls, noodles, rice bowls, and appetizers like chicken gyozas. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for gathering with friends or enjoying a casual meal.
Food was great!! I didn’t have sushi but had mushroom buns, spicy edamame & veggie spicy dumplings- tasted so good- please try it if you dine at this place. My husband had chicken teriyaki it was good but not the best he has had. Decor was basic but cute.

I ate at this place last Saturday and on Sunday (yesterday) I woke up feeling really bad. I had fever, my body was hurting, bellyache and also nausea. When I went to the bathroom I remember looking at the kitchen and it was a mess. I feel so disappointed because when we go out to eat we expect to have a good experience and not ended up loosing our day in bed because you have a food poisoning.
Milena A — Google review
I am a patient at Yale New Haven hospital and was looking forward to a poke bowl, which my wife would pick up and bring to me. She arrived there at 615 and was told it would be another 15-20 mins. A few minutes later they said it would be ready in another 15 mins (about 7pm). Mind you that visiting hours end at 8pm. So my wife continued to wait as we had paid and it would be ready soon. My wife pressed the server about rushing the order and the server then said they didn't have the ingredients for the order. I'm stuck in ICU all day and was looking forward to the Poke bowl all day. Had to settle for a crappy salad from the hospital cafeteria instead. Wthe server also gave some other story about how the order time didnt change even after she was presented with the screenshots. Would provide negative stars if that was option.
Glenn T — Google review
I have eaten here a handful of times and have not been disappointed, so I’m actually surprised at some of the reviews. It may be because I usually go here when it’s not crowded, but the quality has been consistent, this is one of my favorite places to get sushi in the new haven area.
Chantel — Google review
I stopped here today and had 3 sushi roll as and each was perfect and delicious, definitely coming back!
Jennifer S — Google review
Most of the food was good, but the service was horrible. They were constantly watching is eat to see if we needed anything. I dont want someone poking around the corner staring at me while I eat. The room we ate in was also wierd. We walked up super steep janky stairs, and were seated in a room with dim loghting, and oddly placed inspirational quotes that had stains on them. Food was good though.
Asher E — Google review
I would come back even if the food is only okay. I got the crispy noodles with beef. I'm a bit suspicious that I woke up with diarrhea the next day though...
Wanderer — Google review
Just based on presentation, looks amazing. The ramen came separately so it wouldn't get soggy. But in the end.. My parents didn't like their ramen. My Bao was good. Sushi was average.

Sushi Mizu is a charming and unpretentious spot that offers an extensive sushi menu alongside beloved Japanese dishes and noodles. Known for its quick service and free delivery, this eatery boasts over 30 different rolls and a delightful selection of sushi and sashimi combinations. Many patrons rave about their takeout experience, highlighting the deliciousness of items like the KFC Bao, eel avocado roll, New Haven roll, and Yaki Udon with beef.
I dined in today with a friend of mine. The food was incredible and the staff was so kind and attentive. The Spicy Crab roll was my absolute favorite! It was so refreshing yet tasty. My friend enjoyed her Chicken Tempura Roll, the serving size was so big she couldn’t finish it but it was delicious. The Mango Sticky rice was sweet and tasty, the mangoes were very ripe and cold as well. We will be coming here more often as regulars and hope to try more on the menu!
Angeline V — Google review
Food was edible and that’s all I can say about it. Was not enjoyable in any way though. Flavor wise the fish wasn’t what I wanted it to be but I really tried to mind over matter it. But it wasn’t good. The sweet potato roll had a lot of filling which, while generous, was actually too much for what it was. Wish it were crispier as well but I know some of that is lost in delivery. Sushi did look like whoever rolled it had never rolled sushi before. Lastly, the delivery driver did not call, text, or update on grubhub that it was delivered, but after reading other reviews, I went outside and it was there, on my porch. Delivery driver should be letting people know when it’s delivered.
Caitlin — Google review
Just tried Sushi Mizu for takeout for the first time and I have to say it was delicious. Very pleasant surprise due to the mixed reviews. I will admit walking in made me question if I made the right call. I would highly suggest taking out, but undoubtedly the food was great. I got the KFC Bao (a must), eel avocado roll, shrimp avocado roll, New Haven roll (amazing!), and a Yaki Udon w/ beef (good - think beef lo mien not as oily, and had a good array of veggies: mushroom, broccoli, zucchini, and carrots). All was great, I will be returning, seems like a nice working family. Update: second time - still awesome! The Dinner Bento Box is good value.
Tony N — Google review
Got vegetable sushi and it was good, but I ordered mango sticky rice and it was literally just unflavored white rice with pieces of mango on top...
Riley G — Google review
Really wish I had seen the reviews before ordering. 1. I ordered shrimp tempura, and the tempura was cut into these 4 gigantic blocks, and they didn’t give me any soy sauce, no, instead they drizzled it on it so some of the rice was either soggy with soy sauce or there was none on it. I like to dip my sushi myself. And then I also ordered hibachi. It tasted like shrimp and broccoli, which honestly that’s exactly what it was. Shrimp and broccoli drowning in what tasted like mirin and soy sauce. And it also came with white rice. No hibachi fried rice or hibachi noodles, just a container of white rice. I would never waste my money here ever again.
Shelima D — Google review
The food is trash. I got the soggy general tso with gloomy fried rice and overcooked hard chunks of pork in it. I haven't had it but I wouldn't recommend the sushi either if they can mess up chicken and rice so badly.
Tom L — Google review
This is the only sushi place i go to! its spicy tuna roll is better than any i’ve tried in the area. the philadelphia roll is also extremely well balanced, thick pieces of salmon, avocado, and cream cheese. the lunch deal (any three rolls for $13.99) is ideal if you can get there before 3pm! the waitress (who i believe is also the owner!) is fantastic, often giving us extra candy and these gorgeous little macaroons. She is always there when we come in. i’ve never had a bad experience here and i have brought my friends, family, dates and the food has always been good and the service top notch!!
Alex C — Google review
Real score 4.4 I had sashimi combo. At first I was turned off but the shrimp and imitation crab as part of the portioning and everything being served in to go containers. But the soup was good, And it was an Amazing value for what I got! I'm staying across the street and will be back again!

Kumo Sushi Hibachi offers a warm, brick-walled space where you can enjoy hibachi-grilled steaks and seafood, as well as a variety of sushi and udon dishes. While known for its Teppanyaki grills, the restaurant also boasts an impressive sushi bar with amazing special rolls. The chefs are friendly and talented, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
I ordered through Doordash but was not able to add my review there. These rolls were just AMAZING! Fresh, tasty, and well packaged.
Yamel R — Google review
Terrible customer service. I went on my lunch break here to grab food. I do it pretty regularly for lunch here. I ordered chicken tempura rolls. I get this roll EVERYWHERE. And it’s always made the same. If you google a chicken tempura rolls it says it’s tempura chicken, avocado, and cucumber. I always ask no cucumber so I get only chicken and avocado. When I say down after driving there to pick it up I go to eat it and it has shredded lettuce in it. Never seen that before. Called to let them know there was a mistake. The girl on the phone said that’s how they’ve always made it. I explained there is no where on the menu that specified a specific way of making these that would be special to the location vs the standard way of making it. I told them I wasn’t going to be able to eat this. I’m autistic and I can’t handle the texture or I’ll throw up. The manager did not care so I guess it just sucks to suck. She refused for me to come back later with the food to show I wouldn’t eat it and get my money back or even an option of remaking it. So I just wasted a whole lunch and money. Really shitty on their part.
Valentina B — Google review
The 1st time I was here very disappointed with the food and service. The manager was accommodating and gave us a $20 gift card. 2nd visit was much better. The food is okay and service okay. I love their calamari. There is a 20% gratuity that’s added no matter size of group.
L C — Google review
First time here at a friend's recommendation. I've been looking for a Japanese restaurant and enjoyed the food a lot. We got beef and salmon teriyaki lunch specials. I got salad, friend had miso soup. Appetizers were salmon avocado Maki roll and Katsu. The Maki roll was creamy fresh. Katsu was very crispy outside, flaky inside. Both teriyaki dishes were delicious. I'll be back.
Rose C — Google review
Manipulative billing practices. The check is presented as two receipts stapled together, with the top copy showing the final total and a line to add a tip. However, hidden directly under the staple, if you happen to rip them apart, you'll find they have already included an 18% "service charge" in your total (not mentioned verbally by the staff, nor written on the menu). We were a party of 2. By hiding the itemized portion and only showing a final total with a tip line, they appear to deliberately trick customers into tipping twice, pushing the total gratuity to nearly 45%. This feels manipulative and dishonest. I'd hope that they change this practice.
Noe G — Google review
Tried this for the first time tonight with my son. Was not offered a hibachi table even though they were open and in use. Paper menu that they promptly take back after ordering. I asked for water and apparently upset the waitress because I asked for lemons where I got an eye roll and was provided two slices. Menu is very long and offers a huge variety. I got the steak and chicken hibachi. Salad was amazing. Clear soup was bland. Ordered steak medium and was delivered well done. Everything was covered in teriyaki sauce. My son got the dinner box. He said he enjoyed the sushi. The fried vegetables had a lot of breaded starches. Moderately enjoyed the Chinese dumplings. Took forever to get someone's attention to try to get a Togo box. Finally asked our waitress (who initially took our drink order and food order) where I was promptly informed she no longer was, and I'd need to ask my waitress who we'd never met. The 2nd waitress seemed nice enough and delivered two boxes and the check. I asked for some yum yum sauce Togo and was given half of a container (small plastic 1oz ***maybe***) of one. Probably won't go back.
Kim W — Google review
The food is outstanding!!! Great menu and the fish is very fresh. Though it's nice not to be rushed, service can be a bit slow when you want to order something else or get the check. The restaurant is clean, but it can be very loud. The decor is fairly standard. Bottom line: go for the food. It is spectacular!
Sybil W — Google review
Portion sizes are huge… I was nervous because I saw some reviews about the portion sizes but i’m a big boy and I was filled. The Cheese cake was also incredibly good

Very cute underground restaurant. Nice and basic ambience.Sushi was one of best we have had so far in New Haven.

Great place to enjoy sushi. Authentic, good priced and delicious. The Restaurant is cozy and comfortable and the servers are very attentive. I would visit again when In the mood for some sushi. The Service was also fast. They probably took 5-10 minutes to serve us our food after ordering. I also included a pic of the menu for reference.

Wow the size of the Kani salad alone! The special purple rice! The little box though was the true star! It came with a dessert and salad and 3 piece California roll. Went back for dinner. My friend got 2 rolls and she liked them. I got the Kani salad again!
Alana S — Google review
Maybe they were busy but it was a long wait time. Maybe we need to reserve a table. One seated the wait time to get out food was really long. We got our food but no utensils. Had a tuna roll that was lacking tuna flavor which was agreed with the party on the table. Maybe it was a bad night for them. But overall the food was lacking something. Not a tasty experience for me on my table. The staff members were super nice which was a plus.
Jorge R — Google review
Excellent sushi. The plum wine is the variant with red wine, lending a nice acidity to the drink. We had a lovely evening here and can recommend coming here!
Yannick Z — Google review
Good new haven sushi. If u keep ur expectation reasonable, u would like this place. Sushi and sashimi both are good enough. They have relatively good selection of liquor considering this is a sushi place.
Bhaskar R — Google review
Good atmosphere even in the midst of a pandemic. Food came out slow but they were very polite throughout the wait with complementary edamame...which is always a nice appetizer. The purple rice sushi will make you smile and it tastes fantastic.

Delicious! Family members were driving through CT, so we decided to lunch at Miso. Great service, great menu, delicious food! We all left with full bellies. Street parking was available, which was nice. Check this awesome restaurant out. You will not be disappointed.

I went to Miso for dinner tonight with some friends and was very impressed! The sushi was excellent quality for the price point. Standouts were the Agedashi tofu, the New Haven roll, and the Crispy Rice appetizer. The cocktails were very affordable compared to other restaurants in the area. Additionally, the waiter brought our rolls out on a sushi boat, which was a fun surprise for the table. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun dinner that won’t break the bank!

Yummy!!! I love this place. I will forever rave about it. The wagyu with the stone was really good and really cool. The red stone roll is my go-to. The miso black cod is really good as well. And the fried cheesecake was surprisingly good too. People always say they love this place and thank me for bringing them here even though im not the one paying

My must go spot whenever I’m in town. Very decent restaurant with big selection of food and drink. Both raw seafood from sushi bar and hot dishes from kitchen are very fresh and delicious. Excellent service, great atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Im amazed that the food is always prepared in a timely manner but still with nice presentation and decoration. This is an excellent place to go either with a big party or just chilling by myself with some munchies and drinks. Been coming here for 6 years and was never disappointed.

The place is larger than it appears from the outside. The floor isn't tiled and looks dirty. The staff is friendly 👍🏻 sushi is really well-made 👍🏻 However, the prices on the outside menu seem outdated compared to those on the table. 👎🏻 the location is too dark 👎🏻 Prices are slightly higher than average but not by much. I recommended it.

Six of us met for lunch on a Saturday. The place has been through several owners. The decor is beautiful with flowers and classic teapots on display. We were promptly seated. Server came right over with menus. Drink orders were quickly taken and served. There were several servers helping us. Two of us got the special “Initial Roll” plus avocado salad. My wife ordered the pineapple fried rice. Others had sushi and tempura. All was delicious. We will definitely come back again.

Best sushi in New Haven! It’s my first time here. We reserved seats for Omakase. It’s so good, every piece is so good and different. I am so regretful that I didn’t come to this place earlier. Will definitely come back.
Suzy Z — Google review
The ABSOLUTE BEST omakase not only in CT but arguably the US. I live in New York City and *constantly* drive all the way to New Haven just for this. Every place I've been to in New Jersey and NYC (too many to count) has not come close in terms of quality. Sunny and Kathy are the best hosts you could ask for. Such an amazing experience - if you are in the area, and even if you're not, Otaru is unmatched and can't miss. Would give 6 stars if I could!
Jon R — Google review
Best sushi in the state, Omakase is excellent and Moore recently. Our trip for an à la carte dinner was just as good couldn’t recommend any other place. It’s expensive but 100% worth it.
Victor B — Google review
Amazing omakase for the price! It ended up being about $140 a person after ordering a bottle of sake. The pieces were all very unique, including uni, scallop, king salmon, fatty tuna, and one tomato sauce one that was amazing. The pieces come out fairly quick and are made in front of you. It's a very intimate feeling omakase, highly recommend for an upscale experience for 2!
Aditya M — Google review
Excellent service. The host was friendly and explained every piece we got and how to best enjoy it. Every piece was well thought out. It is a hidden gem. Their rolls were the best I've ever had in terms of quality. The wagyu fois gras gyoza we got was well plated. After moving from LA, I missed good sushi and am glad to have found this.

We had a really fun time at Otaru. It’s a small place. They keep the door locked and let customers in as they arrive. I had the omakase. $108 and a lot of fun! The fish was delicious and I absolutely loved trying everything. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable. She described each dish or piece, told me how to eat it and what order to eat it in. If you like trying interesting sushi I would highly recommend! The toro with gold and caviar was my favorite piece hands down! The rest of my party ordered off the menu and enjoyed their dinner too. We finished up with a piece of wagu that was phenomenal!

The Fin and Scale sushi restaurant offers an outstanding dining experience with its impressive Mount Fuji roll and delightful atmosphere. Located in a convenient spot, it is easy to make reservations for large groups using Google. Upon arrival, everything is well-prepared, including the option to split payments seamlessly using a unique QR code feature. The sushi selection and drink assortment satisfy everyone's taste buds, while maintaining reasonable prices.
We had a great time at Fin and Scales, cute place with nice service. We started with the Striped Bass Carpaccio and the Salmon Spring Rolls which both tasted so fresh and were delicious. For our mains the speciality rolls were devine we enjoyed the Mt Fuji and Abundance. Can’t wait to come back and see what else the new management has in store.

More a To Go restaurant than a seat down and eat. They moved and are inside a bakery that has a store next door for open seating and a tablet to order food. Tables and floors dirty. Not the ambiance for a seat down experience. No hostess or server but still same price as old location. Drinks are not served with your food so you have to exit the dining store to go next door and collect your drinks. The food was ok, lower quality than I expected based on reviews. It seems that the quality lowered after changing locations.

Very dedicated and diligent cooks, but the recipe and restaurant style is just your typical non-authentic rendition of sushi. The fish is swimming in sauce in the poke bowl.

Fin and Scale is a gorgeous spot! From the modern interior designs all the way to the super friendly staff there if you need anything. The large menu of options starting with appetizers, sushi rolls, drinks and dessert were all so delicious and plated nicely! I highly recommend coming here when visiting New Haven!

Other sushi places usually serve dishes as soon as they are prepared. This shortens waiting and turnaround time, and eliminates omissions. Here they combined the majority of the order and served them in two big increments rather than in 6 small ones. The food was tasty, and the fish was remarkably fresh! Miso soup was rich, and definitely prepared from scratch. So, overall it was a pleasant experience.

Freshest sushi I have had, EVER. Lovely design and ambiance and the servers are the sweetest!

Incredible food, and great service. I really appreciate their selection of (3) sushi rolls w/out rice. Fish and Scale is quickly becoming my go-to sushi restaurant in New Haven.
