Restaurant
Located in Modica Bassa on Corso Umberto, Osteria dei Sapori Perduti is a popular and lively restaurant that offers traditional Sicilian cuisine at affordable prices. The warm and casual atmosphere makes it a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The menu, presented in dialect, comes with a 'book' containing ingredient lists, photos, descriptions, and wine recommendations in various languages.
Good local food. Excellent caponata. Quick service and very polite staff. Recommended.

Very authentic family run restaurant. The owners are really nice, the ambience great and the food is very traditional, just simple plates at very good prices done with love.
Lindsey Z — Google review
Dined here a couple of nights ago and whilst the menu is more restricted than when I last went the service has improved a lot. It was the first time I ate outside and I loved the atmosphere there was. Food on the other hand - needs some work. But overall a good experience which I recommend.
Trevor G — Google review
We were a group of 25, we had exceptional service for the size of the group. We were served family style which helped service to run smoothly. Atmosphere was outdoor dining, a little bit tight seating but worked.
Susan L — Google review
When we came for lunch, every table in the multi-room restaurant was buzzing with happy diners. The waitstaff did an admirable job bringing dozens of orders hot from the kitchen and even though it did not look as if a table was available, the accommodating host found us a place in the warren of rooms. This is an old-style family-run trattoria, full of history and evidently beloved by locals. The menu is large and includes all the local specialties. Prices could not be lower but the quality is excellent. We loved the cavatieddi ccò sucu rì maiali and the generous bollito of veal. The wine selection offers inexpensive choices but the restaurant also serves some excellent Sicilian craft beers.
Hansjakob W — Google review
We had fava bean soup. Some people liked it, some did not. I thought it was very bland. Main course with chicken with potatoes. They did substitute zucchini for potatoes, which was nice. Chicken was a bit bland, and some was overcooked. Cannoli for dessert was good. All together, the food was nothing special

Wonderful family run restaurant with traditional Sicilian dishes. My wife , who is Sicilian, came because she wanted their tenerumi pasta, which was so good and I had their eggplant as a starter and then their pork ragu, so yummy. On top of their food, their service was amazing! We had dinner on a Sunday evening, unaware that taxis won’t be available. After trying to get us a taxi unsuccessfully, the young lady said she would give a ride back to our hotel! She was wonderful and we were so thankful to avoid an hour walk late at night. Thank you so much!

Chocolate factory
Antica Dolceria Bonajuto is a renowned chocolatier in Sicily, offering a variety of dark chocolate bars and pastries for take-away or outdoor enjoyment. The traditional method of production involves grinding cacao beans on a curved stone and creating cacao paste without any additional preservatives, fat, artificial flavors, or mechanized labor. This pure approach to chocolate-making is rare but still practiced at Antica Dolceria Bonajuto.
The service was really great. They were helpful and provided lots of samples to help us make our choice. The chocolate was definitely more bitter than normal because of the higher cacao content but we really enjoyed it and all the variations. Got three bars, some hot chocolate and a chocolate cake piece. The chocolate cake was delicious. The shop is down a side street but ample signage.
Eric T — Google review
We participated in a guided tour at Antica Dolceria Bonajuto, where we learned all about the process of making their chocolate, from start to finish. The tasting session was amazing – each chocolate was rich and full of flavor. We also enjoyed shopping in the charming store, picking some delicious treats to take home. A must-visit for anyone who loves chocolate and wants an authentic Sicilian experience!
Limor H — Google review
You have to visit this place if you’re a chocolate lover. It’s a little bit different than the chocolate that people are used to, but it’s still great. The staff if very friendly, gave us chocolate to try before buying and told us how it’s made. You can also get cannoli here. The most perfect cannoli I have ever eaten, crispy on the outside and soft not too sweet cream on the inside. Variety of flavours to choose from.
Gabriele E — Google review
Antica Dolceria Bonajuto is a wonderful hidden gem in Modica, serving as Sicily’s oldest chocolate factory, dating back to 1880. Upon stepping inside, you immediately encounter the rich history and production method of Modica chocolate, making it feel less like a shop and more like a small, edible museum. Bonajuto is famous for producing Modica chocolate using an ancient, Aztec-influenced, cold-processing method. This technique prevents the sugar crystals from melting, resulting in a texture far different from the smooth chocolate we typically know. We took the opportunity to try a few samples, including the most original vanilla flavor. The texture is intensely distinctive: crunchy and sandy. While it is definitely an acquired taste (my daughter didn't like it at all!), I truly enjoyed the unique, granular feel and the intensely aromatic flavor. Even if you aren't a big chocolate lover, I highly recommend entering the shop just to read about the production process and the fascinating history of this ancient Modican tradition. It's a wonderful, educational stop that offers a unique piece of Sicilian heritage.
Halide E — Google review
A must-visit when in Modica! Antica Dolceria Bonajuto is not just a chocolate shop — it’s a cultural experience. The oldest chocolate factory in Sicily, it preserves the unique tradition of cold-processed Modican chocolate with incredible skill and authenticity. From classic bars to spiced and citrus-infused creations, every piece is rich in flavor and history. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, and the atmosphere breathes timeless charm. Don’t miss the chance to taste a piece of Sicilian heritage — or take some home as the perfect gift!
Gianaurelio ( — Google review
A must go for a chocolate lover! Chocolate in Modica is different, they make it as ancient recipes mixing only cacao paste and sugar, therefore it doesn’t melt in the mouth but create a totally different experience! It tastes wonderful! And with many different flavors! The cassatina allo cioccolato is very very good!
Roberto R — Google review
After a long cycle and facing yet another hill ahead, I was grateful to stumble across this spot in Modica. Their freshly made cannoli were an absolute treat — crisp shells filled on the spot with rich, creamy ricotta that hit the perfect balance. Just what I needed to recharge before the next climb. A little slice of Sicilian heaven, and a must-visit for anyone passing through.
Aled D — Google review
A bit of a loud and confusing place, with multiple lines and a lot of shouting to order. But it works, and you get your order very quickly. We ordered a cold chocolate milk and a chocolate granita. I particularly enjoyed the chocolate milk, and I found the chocolate granita to be fine as well. For my girlfriend's taste, it was slightly too bitter, but for my taste, it was good.

Wine bar
Rappa Enoteca is a unique liquor store offering a wide variety of wines, craft beers, and marmalades. The store features high ceilings and antique-tiled floors, creating an elegant ambiance for wine enthusiasts. Located near Locando Del Colonnello on Corso Santa Teresa 97-99, this establishment offers apericena-style dinners and informative books for leisure reading.
The enoteca has an extremely diverse range of wines from Sicily. The recommendations of the employees were well chosen and show their knowledge of the individual products. We were able to sit outside and enjoy local appetizers with the wine. It was a very successful and positive experience.
Joyful J — Google review
Very serious about wine and food, but not at all stuffily - a brilliant place at the very top of Modica, and entirely worth all the many, many steps to get there. Probably the best goats cheese I've ever eaten.
P P — Google review
We had a wonderful evening at Enoteca Rappa, up on the heights of Modica (if you’re walking from the center, make sure to wear good shoes, there are plenty of stairs!). Even though there wasn’t much space on the terrace, the staff kindly set up extra tables across the street so we could enjoy the warm September evening. The large mixed platter was excellent and a good value for money, that we accompanied with a Negroni, only 7€, unbeatable! Afterwards, we enjoyed a great selection of Sicilian and Italian wines that truly delighted us. A perfect spot to spend an authentic evening just outside the center of Modica.
Sophia A — Google review
Recommend by our Airbnb host, it's a wonderful place to take a break. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, and the bread was served warm and in small bags. The prices were reasonable, the staff was patient and welcoming, and we were as satisfied as our stomachs and had a great evening. Really recommend 🌟🤩
Monica C — Google review
We had a great time here. A freak thunderstorm on our way absolutely soaked us and they gave us a t shirt for free. Everyone working there was super friendly and we felt like we were having a drink at home. In terms of food, the sharing platter was delicious and we had complimentary bruschetta. The wine, cocktails and beer were all outstanding. We bought a bottle home to drink. Would recommend this place to anyone.
James S — Google review
This is a great place to drink, eat and take in the baroque ambience of Modica Alto. Most bars, restaurants, gelatos and cafés can be found in the lower part of the town however Rappa Enoteca is nestled quietly away in the higher part of the city. The very knowledgeable owner Gincarlo and his staff provide excellent insight into the choice of many wines and a tapas style food menu make for the perfect accompaniment. The corvain system allows for you to try a glass of wine without the commitment of having to buy the whole bottle. The wine bar also serves as a place to purchase wine at either at enoteca or take away pricing.
G H — Google review
Great selection of artisan and natural wines at moderate prices to drink in or takeaway. Also great place for an aperitivo overlooking beautiful baroque buildings nearby.
Alex O — Google review
I went to this shop to buy wine for my friend's parents. The woman I interacted with (missed the name in my anxiety to converse in Italian) made great recommendations and was very knowledgeable about wines. She was super willing to understand my minimal Italian and make an effort to explain the differences in the wines to me. They have a good selection of local wines from small distributors, and I'd recommend this place for anyone looking to buy a local bottle to take back!

Sicilian restaurant
Accursio Radici is a traditional osteria located near the Chiesa di San Pietro, offering a blend of eastern and western Sicilian cuisines. The restaurant is led by chef Accursio Craparo from the nearby Michelin-starred Accursio restaurant. With simple yet elegant dining rooms, it provides an opportunity to savor authentic Sicilian dishes at a reasonable price.
Very good restaurant. The dishes are based on ingredients from the Sicilian tradition, they resemble family-style cooking but more elevated and refined. The polpette di triglia (sadly not pictured as they were gone way too soon) were some of the nicest food I've had and the caponata was excellent. The location is nice, just like the menu it has a bit of a homey feel, an elegant and refined home. The service was good, in particular the lady wearing glasses was exceptionally kind and helpful.
Francesca S — Google review
We loved the place, atmosphere, the food, and the view. The dessert was amazing, and being able to get a gluten-free option really made a difference. The chef even made us a gluten-free Pasta Frittata - that’s actually why we came in the first place. Thank you
Tomas L — Google review
We didn’t find this restaurant online but discovered it the day before while passing by. The atmosphere was truly wonderful and very romantic, we sat outdoors in the middle of the stairs, right next to the Church. The presentation and flavors of the dishes were good, with nice attention to detail. The food was fine, meeting a basic standard, though I felt the prices were a bit high, probably because of the prime location. The service was okay, only lacked a bit of warmth.
An H — Google review
I enjoyed the experience even though some of the dishes, I found, to be a tad on the blander side. The staff was so nice and service great. I think my palate is just used to a bit more umph. Make sure to make a reservation, it gets packed almost as soon as it opens.
AJM — Google review
This was one of the most disappointing meals we’ve had in a long time. We had made a reservation via Michelin and they offered us the absolutely worst table in the place, stuck in a corner in an airless entryway. After I complained, they somehow managed to find us a good table outside, with lovely views of the city. The staff was running around, working hard, but with no direction. They took forever to take our order, did not bring us the wine until we had practically finished our first course, etc. But the biggest disappointment was the food itself. I ordered gazpacho with croquettes and there was hardly any soup, just 4 big cheesy breadballs. For thee main course, they were out of the fish rolls and substituted a tiny slice of fried fish — only the small tail portion. It was breaded and had bones and amounted to about 4 bites once deboned. My husband’s pasta with shrimp and pistachios was swimming in a red sauce. Very unappealing. I don’t know how this place got a Michelin mention. I’ve had better food in far simpler places.
Joellen B — Google review
An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The prosecco was crisp and refreshing — the perfect start to an evening where everything felt just right. The atmosphere struck a flawless balance between elegance and warmth, perfectly suited to the setting. The location itself is stunning, and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive or welcoming. As for the food — the tuna was beautifully seared and full of flavour, while the rabbit was tender, rich, and cooked to absolute perfection. A truly memorable meal in every sense.
Aled D — Google review
Ridiculously good lunch. Funky furniture and simple but stylish decor. Food is great, love the fish dishes but the porccetta is amazing. (Just lose the 1980s glass dinner plates)
Hedgemeister — Google review
We came quite late, shortly before the kitchen closed, so maybe that played a role, but overall the experience wasn’t great. The pasta fritta tasted of old oil, was slightly burnt and didn’t sit well in the stomach. The Cotoletta di Melanzana con Tenerumi had an odd consistency – the eggplant was watery, the tenerumi tough, and both lacked almost any flavor. Wine by the glass was surprisingly expensive (10–15€). That said, the restaurant itself looks beautiful, with a lovely interior and outdoor area.

Caffè dell'Arte is a charming café located in Modica, offering a delightful array of Sicilian pastries and sweets. Established in 1967, this cozy spot is known for its freshly made breakfast treats, including ricotta-filled brioche and coffee granita. The aroma of delicious brioches fills the air as they come straight out of the oven. Visitors can also indulge in local specialties such as cannoli and Modican chocolate.
We were only passing through Modica and stopped for a coffee and breakfast. The croissant with ricotta was amazing. I took the gelato brioche (I'm having gelato brioche every day in different places during our 10-day trip around Sicily 😅). This one was perfect. A bit less Gelato compared to other places but it was super tasty. The coffee was good and everything was less than 10 euros. Oh, they also bring their chocolate and you can spread it over your coffee. Nice touch.

PROS: - incredible pistachio and almonds granitas; - the creamy hot chocolate is rich and full of flavor; - the ricotta cannoli was delicious; - great “americano” coffee; - the attendant and the waitress were very kind; - the ambience is small and cozy; - the menu is really interesting; - prices are ok CONS: - I can’t find one For sure, this is a place you must visit whenever you come to Modica!

Absolutely delicious! I had the Modica hot chocolate and some filled croissants — both were amazing. The service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere relaxing. Will be coming back to try more !Highly recommend Caffè dell’Arte if you're in Modica!

Cannolo here is not just a dessert; it's heaven. It's the best I've had in my life, with tasty ricotta and a perfect crunch.
Matt R — Google review
The best Modican hot chocolate we had ever tried. We also asked for heavy cream (panna) - fabulous and unforgettable. They’ve got many options and the cornetti tasted fresh and light. We chose to seat inside but I saw that they’ve got many tables outside as well.
Ettore B — Google review
TLDR: friendly staff, delicious chocolate and cannoli, decent prices! Originally we just came in for a cannoli, but we ended up leaving with a bag of chocolates! First off- the cannoli itself was really good. They fill them as you order so they don’t get soggy. (But we got them to go and they were still crispy after a couple of hours) the ricotta cream was fluffy but not too sweet, and they were very generous with the pistachio sprinkles. They then offered us some chocolate and hot chocolate samples, and told us a little bit about the history of the cafe and chocolate shop. (You can really tell how proud and passionate they are about their chocolates!) Apparently the father of the cafe owner was one of the chocolate pioneers in Modica, and he still insists on making chocolates by hand to this day. They have a great selection of chocolates at a fair price (tad bit lower than other places in the area). They even sell 100% cocoa chocolates and their hot chocolate powder! Oh, if you haven’t had Modica hot chocolate, I highly recommend it if you like chocolate fudge. They make their hot chocolate with either water or milk, depending on your preference. Milk can be a little too heavy, but it makes a great dipping sauce if you have it with a pastry!
Allie L — Google review
The best Granita/Cremolata in Modica? Yeah, yeah, much debate about this - every place has the best, I know. But this is *good*. Locals swear by it. A lot. Not just the locals - we were there pretty much every day for granita/coffee in the morning, and a couple more during the day 😜 (And yes, the brioche is pretty damn amazing too - just the right texture for dunking)
Mahesh P — Google review
We had a very complete breakfast with local products. We tried the hot chocolate, Pistacchio croissant, the sicilian cannolo (ricota filling with pistacchio) and their great expresso. All of this for under 10 euros. Great price for very good quailty in Modica's main street. The staff was all super nice and made us feel very welcomed. If you are in Modica, dont look much further!

Cappero Bistrot in Modica, Sicily offers a delightful selection of pasta, wines, and desserts on its vibrant main street. The staff's friendly gesture of allowing patrons to enter before the official reopening time was appreciated. The restaurant exudes elegance and provides top-notch service. Their mixed Modican starter is highly recommended, as they even cater to vegetarians with a customized variation.
OMG... We were walking around Modica and decided to have lunch before heading to Ortigia. How lucky we are to stop for a lunch here. Service outstanding, food delicious! Highly recommend! P. S we sat outside, which is quite noisy, so try inside the restaurant, they have a covered courtyard as well.

This restaurant was such an awesome surprise! We didn’t research it at all; just stumbled upon it while walking, and it ended up being one of the best lunches we had in Sicily. The vibe is smart-casual, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. And the food is simply fantastic. They start you off with freshly baked warm bread (homemade), local olive oil, and a small appetizer. Everything was incredibly good and set the tone perfectly. I had their caponata, served inside a pasta brisée shell. So good, delicate, flavorful, and really well balanced. For the main course, I had the fish of the day, served in a tomato-based soup. It was fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Overall, I truly recommend this place and strongly suggest you give it a try. Big compliments to all the staff for running such a top-notch restaurant!

We had an unforgettable meal here. The seafood appetizer sampler was outstanding. Fresh, high quality and full of beautiful flavors. For the main course, we tried the traditional Sicilian pasta with sardines, and it was absolutely perfect. Rich, authentic and cooked to absolute perfection. This is the kind of place that makes you want to return again and again. Highly recommend. Don’t think twice if you want to experience truly incredible Sicilian cuisine.

"Meglio di si," (chef's response from across the terrace when they put the bread down and I said "Meglio di no"). So then I noted "non siamo invecchiando, siamo solo ingrassando." The home made bread was indeed worth the calories, especially with the excellent olive oil. Delicious zucchini in phyllo with saffron emulsion, assorted wines to see what you want (I chose the Frappato rosato); Very good linguine with bottarga, almond, orange, and amberjack tartare; Spaghetti with pureed field greens, ginger, seafood and topped with raw red shrimp. Very well done all around, but sitting outside you are inches from a very busy noisy street and that is not very pleasant. Sitting inside looks like it would instead be a beautiful setting. Wonderfully friendly staff.
Samsunshine L — Google review
Lovely atmosphere and nice presentation of food! We had their assorted appetizers, pork, veal, pasta, fried fish. Highly recommend the assorted appetizers! Enjoyed fried fish and pork, but veal was chewy and pasta was little fishy to me. Creme brûlée and coffee were very delicious.
Chloe J — Google review
Food is OK but Overpriced, while service is good but even service charges are overpriced. I guess they try to be upscale and charge more but for that food must be better. We ordered pasta with rabbit and seafood gnocchi. The pasta had decent sauce but was undercooked and if rabbit was there at one point it must have run away. Seafood gnocchi tasted great but it you charge 30-40% more than other places nearby and you tell me it has shrimp, mussels and fish, I would expect to get shrimp that I can see without a magnifying glass. Finally, there was 'freshly made' bread that while hot had a texture and taste of sand mixed with clay. Add to that the service charges €4 per person, i would certainly not recommend it.

I've been there with my partner and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The food, service, and ambiance were perfect. We had the Mare Nostrum starter and enjoyed every bite. I then continued my meal with the Riassunto di Sicilia pasta, which was delicious.

Restaurant
Nestled in the charming city of Modica, Fattoria Delle Torri is a culinary gem that has been delighting diners for over thirty-five years. Originally founded by Chef Peppe Barone, the restaurant is now lovingly managed by his daughters, Francesca and Carla Barone, alongside Paolo Monello. The menu beautifully marries tradition with modern flair, offering three exquisite tasting menus as well as a selection of à la carte dishes that are both innovative and heartfelt.
Absolutely stunning dinner last night with my wife. We had a shorter version of a tasting menu and really should have gone with the longer one, since every dish was so beautiful, creative, thoughtful and delicious. Service was just as fantastic as well, our server recommended a phenomenal wine that we absolutely fall in loved with and would never discover otherwise. You should definitely go and eat here. I can’t recommend this place enough. It was absolutely one of our favorite meals we had in Sicily.
Nejc Š — Google review
I gave it a 4, although I wanted to give a 3. The atmosphere is pleasant, but our expectations were much higher. So, let’s begin. We decided not to order the set menu, as my husband wanted to try other dishes. According to the restaurant’s rules, you are required to order it “once” for both. We started with melon and hot peppers, as well as a seafood appetizer. The second one was interesting, with a true taste of the sea, but the first one was disappointing, even though the waiter said the sauce is prepared over two days. In terms of taste, it didn’t impress me: melon and peppers with cashews were interesting, but not a gastronomic orgasm. I also didn’t understand why the skin wasn’t removed from the peppers, even though it came off easily—perhaps it was intentional. The FRESH PASTA / GOAT CHEESE / APRICOT / SHEEP dish came with cherries. It was a tasty tribute to cherries and sheep meat. My husband had pasta with shrimp. They told us that they didn’t have the “correct” pasta, so it was replaced with another type. It was a bit tricky to eat, and I think this may have affected the taste. The portion size was also larger than expected. I can’t really single out the pasta—it was good, but we didn’t go on a flavor journey. For dessert, we chose “MITILUGHIA,” which consists of crispy layers and cherry ice cream. Again, no orgasm, so we decided to try the EGGPLANT / RICOTTA CHEESE / CHOCOLATE. We asked if the cake base was fresh, and they told us it was from the day before. What can I say? The flavor was interesting, but the base was very dry. I liked the sweet-salty combination, and the cream layers were intriguing. Considering it cost €10, I expected a fresher or more impressive execution. Overall, the dessert deserves a 3. The wine we wanted wasn’t available, so we had to choose from what was left. And the chipped plate didn’t please me either. Although the waiter explained that it was a family heirloom service, I would prefer if such chips were either covered or those plates removed from use. Additionally, I didn’t like that the ashtray at the table was full, even though there was only one table allowed for smoking. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to my friends.

As a solo traveller, diner, and lover of food it is very important to me that where I dine feels both special and comfortable. This was hands down the best restaurant I visited during my time in Sicily. The food was outstanding. I have a hard time eating in public but cleaned every plate! The wine was also very good. I would have to say though that the service was what really made the experience perfect. I believe the chef’s husband was the host and I could tell there was love in that place because the service and atmosphere was fantastic.

A little hidden gem in the heart of Modica. It was difficult to find, but once we did we were pleasantly surprised by the level of sophistication and creativity of the young sisters taking care of this place. Two sisters of 25 and 27. The younger sibling, busy in the kitchen creating masterpieces based on her traditions and passion for new concepts, while the older sister pairing those wonderful creations beautifully and running the front of house like clockwork. If you're in the region this place is a must!

Unfortunately found this place on the Michelin App. However not justified to be on there even as just a non star carrying outlet. Starters started strong (sweet peppers), however Gnocchi were really less than mediocre, pork belly was bland…fried shark more of a street food rather than a fine dining dish. Wonton fushion dish meh as well Squeaking kitchen door, staff unaware of their surroundings, smashing cabinets and talking in inappropriate volume…

Located in Modica Alta, Locanda Del Colonnello offers a modern Sicilian dining experience in a charming white setting. The restaurant takes classic dishes and gives them a contemporary Sicilian twist, such as the tramezzino filled with lamb shoulder, artichoke, pecorino cheese and mint or the Roman cacio e pepe pasta made with local piacentino ennese cheese. While not all dishes may be equally impressive, the high standards are evident.
Fresh, innovative, laid back, casual, creative and bursting with flavor. One of my favorite meals in Sicily. It’s a young chefs take on Sicilian cuisine with a great natural wine selection. Exceptional service. Highly recommended.

Amazing Gastronomic Experience! Starting from the location, is in the top part of modica and just arriving there is a lovely walk. We ate in their lovely yard. We where offer a deal of three plates and a cocktail for 35 euros. Amazing quality price deal. Dished are nicely imagined with local products and recipes, beautifully produced and of course DELICIOUS: my favorite the Caciocavallo with vegetables. Im usually not excited by cocktails, but this ones where specially good. Desserts also worth trying. People working there are also very nice and friendly.

Nice concept, distracted waiters. Location was uncomfortable and distant. The old location on the pictures seemed much nicer. Music very silent from one side. The other speaker seemed to be broken. Taste of Food was ok but all in all it appeals unloving ! What a pity...

We, a family of four, ordered different courses which we shared between us. Truffles pasta was absolutely the best order and was probably the best I ever had. The other courses were also very good and well cooked. The service was impeccable.

The service was very chaotic. The server came after 30 minutes to take the order. Then the drinks came after the food. Then the main course came all random so we ate all seperate times since the plates came 20 minutes apart. They forgot. They apologized but nothing compensated. Would not recommend. Food was average

Trattoria Il Girasole, located behind the Madonna delle Grazie sanctuary, offers a picturesque view of the historic center. This charming restaurant serves a range of authentic Sicilian dishes, including renowned desserts such as cannoli and granita. For those craving a refreshing treat like granita, Caffe Adamo is worth a visit. Situated on a tranquil road overlooking the town, Trattoria Il Girasole provides an excellent lunch experience.
Excellent! Note that this is a trattoria, not a restaurant, so the place and atmosphere is not 'fancy'. But the service is surprisingly professional and elegant, and the food is incredibly good. They have an impressive attention to details, all ingredients are high quality, and the dishes perfectly represent the local tradition. We are super impressed and definitely will come back. Highly suggested.

Great Sicilian food in a small place. Only a waitress, the owner and a chef probably, as a matter of fact the service was bit slow, but probably due to all tables occupied on a Tuesday lunch! So better of you call to reserve, just in case! Parking is available only 200m away from the restaurant. Prices where very acceptable!

Fantastic little find away from the tourist centre of Modica. Worth the walk. Don't be put off by the old school décor, the food here is as authentic as it is good value. We had an antipasto to share, 2 primi, a quarter litre of red wine, large bottle of sparkling water and 2 coffees for €26. Excellent pasta, waitress was very welcoming and patient with our poor Italian.

Accursio Ristorante, located in an old palazzo in Modica's lower town, offers a sophisticated yet unpretentious dining experience. Helmed by chef Accursio Craparo, the restaurant presents traditional Sicilian cuisine with a modern twist. The seafood spaghetti and artichoke dishes are particularly exquisite. With two elegant dining rooms, the restaurant provides an opportunity to savor the creations of a renowned chef at a reasonable price.
Amazing dining experience! All of the dishes were of a very high quality and delicious! It was impressive to see traditional Sicilian flavours and dishes presented in a modern way, while still preserving the authentic taste and flavours. Wonderful and very diverse wine selection, there’s an option for everyone’s taste. The service was exquisite, staff members being very professional and friendly/welcoming at the same time. Sommelier had a great wine knowledge and his selections of wines to pair with our menu and our preferences was impressive. Definitely would recommend everyone to experience dining at Accursio restaurant!

This meal is now among the top 5 (or top 3?) of my life. My wife and me drove around Sicily for two weeks and from the very beginning of our planning we had this place marked. Modica is a beautiful city build around the mountains with narrow streets that become restaurants in summer nights. Accursio is a small, humble restaurant with perfect lightning. We asked for the tasting menu with wine pairing. The experience were seamless from the very beginning, dish after dish the chef and his team startled us with flavors and the aesthetic of the presentation. A tomato water (yes, tomato water!) to cleanse your palate, a oyster shot with tonic water and almond milk froth, a cappelli d'angelo pasta with raw shrimp and caviar and a perfectly cooked veal were among my favorites. All combined with a great selection of whites, sparkling and red wines. Such a beautiful experience that we'll remember for the rest of our lives. Grazie, Accursio

The food bursts in great flavors and textures, and super cheap for what you get out. Even simple dishes are bloody delicious. The location is superb, interior as well. Definitely worth 5 stars (and it’s Michelin star). Don’t miss out on the veg creme with octopus for starter!
Rena S — Google review
A little disappointed not as good as other one star Michelin food… the squid was over cooked and gone rubbery and some flavours lacked the punch. So that’s why I think it’s overpriced :)

Truly exceptional. The entire dinner from start to finish is an experience. The chef is a devoted artist telling a story, it was a joy to try to listen to what he had to say. Among the favorites was the Onion and breadcrumbs (wow, I almost cried tasting that one) and the Sicilian spaghetti with anchovy sauce. Staff was great, ambiance was great, and good wine selection. Overall, 🙌🏻

Singola Ristorante Naturale is a vegetarian restaurant in Modica, Sicily serving dishes such as soups and pasta dishes. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating and free off-street parking.
This is is our favourite restaurant in all of Italy, and one of the very few places where you can actually get vegan food in Sicily. The staff is absolutely amazing, knowlegable and kind, and the atmosphere is extremely cozy and laid back with a traditional touch. The meals are lovingly made and combine classical recipes with modern vegetarian and vegan interpretations. Their wine selection is also top notch and complements the meals. We make sure to visit at least once whenever we're in Sicily.

What a fantastic restaurant, with unique food, great atmosphere and amazing service. Armando, our waiter, was so truly passionate about the food being served, what it made us so excited about what was coming our way. Everything we had to eat was delicious and unique to anything we had on this trip so far. I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but don’t like to eat with every meal, so this place was a welcomed break. Bother vegan and vegetarian dishes are available, and the dishes are so reasonable priced. You can tell the food is made with love and pride and the taste of each dish was delicious. I highly recommend this place for lovers of food.

Wow, what an amazing experience and restaurant. The food is one of the best we've had in Sicily and the kindness of the staff is out of this world. We were not sure what to have, so we challenge the waiter to choose 4 dishes for us (2 appetizers and 2 mains) and it was one of the best experiences we have had. 🤯 Our minds were bloom away by the quality of the food! Also, the place is really calm and quiet. We sit outside and enjoyed a nice evening. If you are around in Modica, this restaurant is one that you MUST try!

The best pasta we had in Sicily... this is what we had been waiting for the whole trip! Fresh seafood, cooked right in front of you, delicious pistachio pesto in a truly authentic setting. We tried expensive restaurants before and didn’t get close to this quality or price. We ate on the street in an unassuming corner just off the main corso. White wine was perfectly paired, octopus ragú and mussels linguini spectacular, linguini ghamberi pomodoro pistaschio exquisite... honest prices run by two young local Italian guys with a lot of talent and heart. Just the pair of them running the show though so be prepared for the wait, a worthy one

I recently had a delightful dinner at Fichera 7117 - Dabbanna, a charming gem in Modica. The restaurant offers exceptional service that is attentive yet unobtrusive. One standout dish to try is the tuna tartar, which was absolutely delicious. I was impressed by the amuse bouche's fabulous presentation and found it to be a splendid idea. The warm bread served with olive oil was also delectable.
My wife and I savored what we felt was a spectacular lunch in celebration of her birthday and a beautiful day in Modica a few days before Christmas. From the moment we arrived, we somehow felt at home and it just got better. Everything was intimate, graceful & thoughtful. We appreciated that our waiter took the time to share the details of every dish. It’s origin and it’s significance. Ultimately, when you visit a restaurant that claims to earn the right to call itself fine dining the one element that is most meaningful is love. They say on their website that there is a lot of passion in what they do which I suppose is the same thing…. The truth of their statement is not exaggerated. If you truly want to experience something special, you won’t be disappointed

Do not look further, treat yourself on this fine Sicilian dining. with , different ingredients on the menu, like rabbit, lamb and octopus. We both took a gazpacho with gazpacho ice. Since it was 30 degrees it was a welcome cool feeling. After that my husband risotto with a hinge of lemon, a yummy olive oil. And I took the eggplant. We got a nice welcome bite, different lovely home baked bread. The white wine was passobianco. Tones of wood and vanilla. Not sweet. And the deserts were also outstanding. Till now this was our best meal, thank you

An absolute gem in Modena. The dishes are true fine dining—beautifully composed, deeply flavorful, and full of Sicilian soul. The complimentary amuse-bouche was outstanding, and both the ceviche and the deep-fried egg—soft and runny inside—were incredible. The rabbit was tender and richly sauced, and the pear dessert was stunning in both presentation and taste. It’s rare to find this level of creativity and refinement at such reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Bar
Bar del Duomo is a small bar located near the main church, San Giorgio, offering a great spot to relax after visiting the Cathedral of San Giorgio. Visitors can enjoy Modica hot chocolate and local delicacies like Impanatiglia, a sweet filled with minced meat and chocolate. The bar provides an amazing view and is popular among both tourists and locals.
Nice place to take a short break before or after visiting the Duomo. I ordered the insalata siciliana — it was fresh and nicely prepared. There are guidebooks and photo albums all around, so you can plan the next stage of your journey over a cup of coffee.

The best price for the service and food! Everything was delicious, the owners were just adorable and they have gone all the way to explain their traditions! Plus do not worry you can taste the chocolate with anything you are buying ✨ Amazing experience, definitely I'd recommend!

KuFù, a Sicilian Japanese Café Bistrot, offers an immersive culinary experience with a blend of distinct flavors. It stands out as more than just your typical restaurant. The dishes crafted by Luca surpass expectations, providing something extra special. The unique creations, coupled with ambient lighting and exceptional staff, combine to create an unforgettable evening. I highly recommend this establishment for a top-notch dining experience.
Hands down the best food in Sicily. Absolutely worth a visit. Worth a detour to Modica just to visit this restaurant. Unbelievable pasta - cacio e Pepe ravioli, pork tonkatsu and a Sicilian take on gyoza are not to miss. Pair it with the pear chocolate martini (with KuFu's homemade chocolate infused liquor). The chef and the host also gave 10/10 effort and vibes <3 would come back

This food was sooooo good! Really delicious! The waiter was very friendly, would recommend this!
Nathalie S — Google review
We had dinner at KuFù yesterday, and from the moment we arrived it was clear that this place is run by the kindest man you could ever meet. He seems to do everything by himself, but you would never notice in any negative way – everything is handled with so much care and attention. The food was truly wonderful. The tuna tartare was unlike anything I’ve ever had before, so fresh and full of creativity. He speaks with such passion about his dishes, and you can feel that same passion in every bite. To finish, he spoiled us with the most delicious desserts – including his own unique twist on tiramisu, which was simply unforgettable. This place is an absolute gem. My heartfelt recommendation: definitely go, and maybe make a reservation because it’s worth it.

Wow, such great food (try the pork belly), atmosphere (music), and best of all- the chef Luca and staff- so so nice and welcoming. Enjoy the fusion Japanese-Sicilian food- delight! And the beer was amazing.

(Translated by Google) During our stay in Sicily, we discovered this delicious artisanal pastry shop, which produces authentic Modica chocolate unlike any other! The owners are incredibly kind, and as soon as you enter their pastry shop, you can feel the history behind it and the passion they put into their work every day. When you enter, don't be fooled by the sparsely stocked display cases; they make everything fresh on the spot, so ask for whatever you want and it will be given to you! For breakfast, you absolutely must try the brioche and granita! The granitas are all delicious, but especially the almond one and the "incappucciata" coffee one with whipped cream! They also make all the almond paste cookies and gelato, as well as, of course, the chocolate, both in the classic bar form and the "Cuticci" version, inspired by the cobblestones typical of the city streets. If you find yourself in Modica, you can't miss it! The prices are fair. (Original) Un ottimo panificio dove poter acquistare prodotti da forno pensati interamente da loro. (Translated by Google) Highlights: Opening a chic place in Modicalta, far from the usual tourist hotspots, that's reminiscent of French bakeries. The staff at the counter are knowledgeable about the quality of the flours and ingredients used for bread (very inviting loaves) and pizzas. Pan pizzas range from classic ones at €12/kg to gourmet ones at €18/kg. It's nice to find the Palermo-style sfincione, perhaps with a slightly over-matched crust and toppings. The pizzas with mortadella and stracciatella and with anchovies, chili peppers, onions, and stracciatella are delicious. The dough is high-quality, with a slightly unusual flour that makes the crust not always soft and/or crispy. €26 for a takeout dinner for four. Custom appetizers are also available upon request. Traditional family run restaurant with great Sicilian food This restaurant is on a quiet street and we discovered this place through our guide Elena. The Busiata pasta with pesto of fennel, pinoli, basil and topped with dried tomatoes was a revelation in refined taste. The Busiata with pomodoro sauce and bacon was also excellent taste. Would love to visit again !

The food was fine. The meat was nice and soft, and the sauce in my girlfriend's dish added a nice flavour. The lemon gel was basically frozen lemon juice which was meh (but then, it's kind of to be expected). The cannolo was nice, not the absolute best, but I was happy with it. The staff is nice and friendly, and the place feels very local out of the way of the main tourism sites.

Very good local pizza and a great atmosphere to soak in the vibes of the city. Absolutely not touristic. The wine options were amazing. The prizing for the pizza was very fair and moderate. Definitely consider getting dinner there if you’re in modica 🍕

Tucked away in a charming little alley that could easily be mistaken for a side street in Modica, this pizza restaurant is an absolute treasure. From the moment you step in, there’s an effortless magic in the air — the kind that comes from simple things done extraordinarily well. The prices are refreshingly reasonable, making it a place you can return to time and again without denting your wallet. The pizza? Easily some of the best I’ve had outside of southern Italy — crisp, wood-fired bases with perfectly balanced toppings that let the ingredients shine. The beers are cold and beautifully poured, making it all too easy to lose track of time as you soak in the laid-back atmosphere. The staff are faultless — warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. It’s the kind of service that feels like hospitality rather than routine. But it’s the setting that steals the show. Nestled down a narrow, sun-dappled alley, the whole place feels transported from another time. Sitting there, with the soft hum of conversation and the scent of fresh basil in the air, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were dining in the backstreets of Modica itself. An unforgettable experience — casual, authentic, and delicious. This place is a must for anyone who appreciates great pizza served with soul.
Aled D — Google review
We’ve been there twice so far and were very happy both times. The restaurant is nicely tucked away on a side street, yet right in the very centre. The food is delicious and the service is quick and friendly. We tried the octopus with guacamole, pasta with mushrooms and guanciale, grilled vegetables, mixed grilled meat, and of course two different pizzas — all excellent! The décor isn’t particularly impressive, but it’s simple and welcoming — and in a restaurant, it’s really the good food and friendly atmosphere that matter more than fancy decorations.

3* for the food taste 7* for the quality of service In this place you will be surprised by the professional staff more than the food! It was a very nice surprise for me, most of all the waiter Daniel! I did not had the best salmon or the best pasta, but the experience overall was great! The back street tables are very romantic in combination with the old walls and the narrow street ! As minuses will mention that the shrimps should be cleaned of intestines, even if they are whole on the plate! Salmon had to little salt for my taste! On rush hour you need a little patience because they are fully booked, but no one is left outside!

The worst service in a restaurant I have ever experienced. Table reserved for 12 people at 21:00. Easy table to serve. 6 starters to share and pasta as main course. After 2 hours we had only beer, wine, bred and some of the starters. When we asked for the pasta the answer was 12 minutes. After 20 minutes we decided to leave the restaurant. We asked for the bill and they accepted us not to pay but they ruined our night and part of our deserved holidays. The responsible of the restaurant didn’t come to apologize. Only the waiter came to to talk to us. Bad experience. I’m sorry but never again.

We went for the bday of my best friend. They booked for a group around 9 persons. The portions of the food are generous but I didn't like the bread came not even warm and not olive oil or tapenade os something to eat it with. The service for a Thursday night was not great.
Rosi A — Google review
One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We made a reservation for a large group of people and arrived first at the restaurant, but it quickly became packed. Despite being the first ones there, we watched as every other table - mostly locals - received their food well before us. We waited over 2 hours for our meals, and only after repeatedly complaining and requesting to cancel the order did our food suddenly appear within 10 minutes. The staff were clearly overwhelmed and unprepared for the number of guests. Communication was nearly impossible as no one, including the manager, spoke English, and their attitude toward us as tourists felt dismissive and unwelcoming. The service was rude, unprofessional, and completely lacking in hospitality. The food itself was overpriced and nowhere near worth the wait or the stress. To make matters worse, they threatened us to take down our honest review, which is completely unacceptable. I strongly do not recommend this restaurant, they seriously need to improve their customer service, staff training, and overall respect for guests.
Andreea P — Google review
This was disappointing - and for the price, even more so. In the Modica area, we’ve had amazing meals at 50% less than La Sirenetta. The staff was oddly stand-offish. This is Sicily, warm greetings are normal. We were met with a mixture of “wondering why we were there” combined with an annoyance that we were. The one shining moment was when the host came to ask about our meal. He was lovely… I didn’t want to disappoint him with the truth. My pasta was actually pretty good, by itself. The added red shrimp were tasteless (really surprising in this area). At 18 euros, that’s not what I expect. My wife’s beef cheek was partially good and partially shoe leather.. the potatoes were… the best I can say is that butter was no where to be found in their making. It wasn’t an offensively bad experience, but it wasn’t what I expect at this price point… and certainly not in a region where I can get multiple better experiences for half the cost.
David D — Google review
Absolutely Horrible Experience – Never Again If I could give zero stars, I would. I came here hoping for a decent meal, but instead, I got a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. First off, it took one full hour just to get a drink. Yes, you read that right – 60 minutes for a simple drink. I thought maybe the kitchen was busy and the food would be faster. I was wrong. Another TWO HOURS passed before my food finally arrived. By then, my appetite was gone, and so was my patience. The staff barely acknowledged the delay, offered no apology, and seemed more confused than concerned. No compensation, no explanation – just an exhausting wait for a mediocre meal that wasn’t even worth the time. Save yourself the frustration and eat literally anywhere else.

Notable dishes include outstanding sausage/pork and Rabbit stew, as well as delicious pasta and arancini.
Great street restaurant in terms of atmosphere. The starter (home made scaccia which is a typical Sicilian dish) was a bit in the dry side which cost them a star from me. As a main we had the Ricotta Ravioli (see picture) which were very yummy. We dared to drink their house red wine which I wouldn’t repeat. Price was very reasonable but we also went very light on the ordering

Only open in the evenings after 7.00pm We had the taster menu of 3 dishes for €27. We alternated our choices for each course. Everything was delicious. The wait staff were very attentive, constantly checking on our progress between courses. We had a bottle of red wine recommend by our server which was excellent. An extremely enjoyable experience.

(Translated by Google) In the center of Modica next to the Cathedral of San Pietro. Very well-kept location both externally and internally: Internal with some rooms overlooking the Corso; External with tables positioned on several levels. The dishes are excellent, they are mainly sandwiches with meat or fish, but there are also fish or meat dishes. Naturally, everything is prepared with care and with top-quality condiments. The staff is very kind, helpful, professional and can advise you on everything. We took: Potato wedges with honey, oregano and bacon (excessively good), Panelle with lemon and black pepper, 2 RAW, 1 PALERMO and 1 RICCIA. Finally, for dessert, 2 cannoli with ricotta and a portion of pancakes with Nutella and ricotta. To drink 2 beers and water. We ate well and paid the right price. We will definitely return. See you soon! (Original) Nel centro di Modica accanto al Duomo di San Pietro. Bisboccia Food Store & Restaurant is a casual dining spot located at no. 2 Corso Mazzini, Modica Bassa. The restaurant offers a modern ambiance and serves simple yet delicious Sicilian cuisine. Visitors have praised the excellent food and faultless service, with highlights including taglieroni con le Sade for primi and fresh seafood options for secondi.
One of my favorite meals in Sicily! My husband and I ate lunch here, and I absolutely loved everything from the service and fresh food. The couple who own this place clearly love what they do. It truly shows!
Rizelle M — Google review
The restaurant is out of the way in a tunnel like side street, it’s quite small with a few tables inside and out front. The food was a bit hit and miss - starters were fine (zucchini flowers with ricotta, scallops), but the primi ravioli with ricotta were quite tasteless and barely filled. The main course ‘burger’ with egg was just that meat with a fried egg and a small dollop of of cold mashed potatoes. Ordering a hamburger I expected more especially since it was 16€.
Ewa H — Google review
Very nice place to get a super tasty pasta alla norma (if you’re vegan/lactose intolerant you can get it without ricotta) 😋 My friend loved the pistacchio pesto and guanciale pasta! The staff is also very kind and helpful! We really enjoyed our dinner at Bisboccia!

We found this place by chance while wandering around Modica. Inside there are just a few tables, with more seating in an outdoor passage. On the shelves you can find publications about the owners and their philosophy. They promise to serve traditional dishes with their own signature twist. The menu is accessed via a QR code. It’s short but interesting. We tried the caponata and the octopus on a potato bed. Both were delicious, although the potatoes were served a little too cold. For mains, we ordered carbonara and carbonara di tonno. The carbonara was slightly too dry, as if the proportion of pasta to sauce wasn’t quite right. My husband enjoyed the crispy tuna in his carbonara. Overall, it was a pleasant meal, though the price-to-quality ratio and portion sizes felt a bit on the expensive side.

Trattoria L'Arco is a cozy establishment with friendly and cheerful staff, although their English may be limited. The ambiance of the place is warm and inviting, with a spotless restroom. Prices are reasonable, however, there were some concerns about the food. The horse steak was slightly overcooked and had cheese haphazardly placed on it, while the potatoes were fried to the point of being charred.
The food is si good, the prives is ok maybe low prices and so good in the back table.

An incredible dining experience. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We love fine dining and have eaten in many great restaurants in Sicily but the food here is our favourite. The service was exceptionally kind and attentive. The exterior is unassuming to say the least but don’t let that fool you. This place is a shoo-in for a Michelin star or two very soon. However, the limited seating can be challenging during peak hours, as it operates as street food with no reservations. Despite this, many visitors have raved about the exceptional quality of the pizza and appreciated the thoughtful gesture of adding a birthday candle to their order.

My family and I had a very nice experience here from start to finish. We visited Modica for the annual chocolate festival in December and arrived via tour bus a bit early and hungry. After the 250-step walk up to a large church and a visit to a chocolate shop we inquired about a nice place to eat. One of the men at the chocolate shop said to wait a moment and then returned with a very nice lady who spoke excellent English and told us about their special set menu for the day as well as the type of locally produced food items they use (the ancient wheat for one) at their restaurant. She escorted us next door and upstairs where we chose from the set menu and all three of us were very happy with our choices. We each tried a different pasta item and my son also had a chicken cutlet with lemon. My ricotta ravioli with ragout sauce was the best I have ever had. Ever. The view from our table was really nice too. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked. I highly recommend this restaurant and definitely plan to return.

A night to remember forever. Marvelous meal, stunning venue and incredible views across the Duomo. Moses and Graziella produced the finest of meals for our group at very short notice on their day off. They went more than the extra mile. Service was excellent. We had a truly fun evening. I can highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant. It's a true treasure. Don't miss it. If you are in Sicily make a plan to visit Vico dei Santi in Modica.

Seafood tagliatelle was fantastic. I rated this 5 stars. And then two men asked for a table but were told the kitchen was closed. While my wife and I were still there three lots of guests took their places and ordered. Were the two turned away gay or just friends? Does it matter? No one should be treated like this. As a result changed rating to one star. Such a shame - an otherwise excellent evening spoiled by the prejudice of one waiter.

The HDM Hostaria della musica ora RARO is a truly remarkable dining establishment. The staff, especially Luca, provided exceptional service and were instrumental in arranging transportation. This restaurant stands out as one of the few open options after a long night of searching for available places to eat. The karaoke performers displayed incredible talent, making the experience even more enjoyable. Without hesitation, I would recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone.
This place is incredible! The views, the food and the staff were all amazing. There were 6 of us and everyone really enjoyed their meals - I had the cod cannoli, Burrata pizza and tiramisu with the Etna Bianco Murgo and it was all faultless. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the views are from this outdoor restaurant - the tables are all set up so you can make the most of the view wherever you sit. The staff were so attentive, I'm glad we ignored the negative reviews on this place because it was our best meal so far in Sicily. Plus, we were joined by a beautiful little cat!

Oh man, what a place! If you come to Modica, you HAVE TO try this place. They specialize in “Pinsa” which is like a pizza, but slightly different. (Yeah I know - just try it.) Amazing, crunchy and pillowy dough, really good quality ingredients and a view to die for - The pic shows the view that you get from the restaurant.

Food i good but not worth the price. Starter was cold, bread was old. Service has absolutely no motivation to deliver the service the price tag would tell. View is great though.

we went on a monday night at 7pm with 5 people. the beautiful woman serving us had a wonderful attitude and was very attentive! the view is incredible, watching the sun go down and the lights in the city turn on is spectacular. The food is tasty - nothing that needs special mentioning though. Would recommend!

Ok, this restaurant has discovered (or invented) the most amazing pizza crust I have ever experienced. Light, fluffy, but crispy and crunchy at the same time….and with the perfect amount of sponge it is something unkown to man. And only here. This is not a regional thing but a chef/restaurant thing you must experience!!!Treat yourself. There’s nothing like it i the world, as far as I can tell. Wow.

I rarely leave negative feedback but this time I feel like I need to and I also write it in English so everyone can read it. We booked a table for 8 for a birthday dinner and at our arrival they show us to a table for 6. As we kindly inform them about the mistake they leave us waiting for several minutes and then come back and say that they can add 2 seats to that same table that was clearly not big enough to accomodate all of us. We decline that offer and are left again for some time without anyone saying what was going on. After all the waiting they prepare a slightly bigger table in a corner far from everyone else and without the view that I think is the only good thing about the place. It was dark and loud because of the loudspeaker placed just above our heads. We are left yet again waiting for anyone to come and serve us. No drinks were served, they forgot the fries we ordered and the pinsas were mediocre. The menu describes them in beautiful words but really they are pretty common and don’t taste of anything. The waiters were kind but slightly confused. The manager did not handle the situation correctly and we felt like we weren’t treated as a client should be. They made a mistake and yet we felt like we paid the consequences. No apologies were made and if it hadn’t been Saturday evening when it is really difficult to book a table in any restaurant, especially for a group, we would have left immediately. I definitely don’t recommend it and surely will never come back.

In the hidden alleys where one can discover excellent dining establishments, it is advised to avoid eating on the main street due to inflated prices and subpar quality. Regrettably, Egopizza struggled to attract enough customers to fill its tables. Nonetheless, the amiable owner willingly shared insights into their superior technique for leavening pizza bread compared to the traditional method. They even provided guidance on replicating this authentic flavor at home.
After eating weeks of seafood, we were ready for a pizza, so I found this restaurant on Google maps. We got there 15 minutes before opening but the owner was so sweet and let us in and got seated. We had wonderful conversation with her. The food was also amazing, we had a plate of salami/prosciutto/olives to start and then our pizza's arrived...oh my, they were so good! Highly recommend this place. If I would be back in Modica I would return and try other things on the menu.

The staff is nice and polite. We ordered one Cavati In Tegame and one Spaghetti Boscaiola, and both were amazingly good. I truly recommend this place. For people with food restrictions, there is a small section in the menu where you can ask for gluten-free pizza, but I didn't order it.

QB Quello Buono is an exceptional wine bar in Modica, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. This cozy establishment boasts an impressive selection of Sicilian wines, including rare gems that are not easily found elsewhere. The owner, Enzo, is known for his passion and knowledge about the local wine culture. He warmly welcomes guests with his friendly demeanor and expert recommendations.
In November I stayed in Modica for two nights and every evening I ate in this place! But let’s start from the beginning, I noticed this place during the day, just upon my arrival. A bit hidden under olive trees, between two streets, seemed like a nice place to drink a glass of wine and have dinner. I came later and I was surprised by charming tables made from wine barrels, glowing lights, and welcoming owner Enzo. After a brief conversation, I decided to take a leap of faith and follow the owner’s recommendations. Even if the dish was extremely meaty (it was composed of three types of meat) it was light and very well balanced with zucchini salad and a side of lemons and homemade pizza dough. Besides outstanding food, I also received unforgettable stories about Modica, local products and life in Sicily. Please note you need to speak Italian for that extra service ;). It was a long and enjoyable evening. I also had an opportunity to try pizza Margherita and cannoli, presented in an extraordinary way. The next evening I went with the specialty of the house - the poker plate. This mysterious plate is composed of five specialties of this place and I totally recommend it if you stay only for one night. Full of surprising flavors, tender meat and refreshing sides. Everything was paired with local red wine. On the menu, it is possible to find vegetarian options. This place will stay in my heart forever, not only because of the wonderful food experience I had but the company of wonderful people I met there as well. I am sure that during my next trip to Sicily, I will find a way to come back to this little Italian gem.

I highly recommend Trattoria Da Ignazio, a restaurant near the cathedral that offers delicious and pleasant late lunches. Despite the closure of other nearby restaurants, this place surprised and pleased me with its polite and helpful staff. The food selection, though simple, was extremely tasty. I particularly enjoyed their grilled vegetables, which were the best I've ever had, as well as some fresh seafood dishes. During my two-week stay in Sicily, this meal stood out as one of the best.
Exceptional Experience! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff . The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. You can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients and put real care into their cooking. During our visit to Modica, we had the pleasure of dining at Trattoria da Ignazio, and it truly lived up to its excellent reputation. This cozy, family-run trattoria offers a welcoming atmosphere and a genuine taste of Sicilian hospitality. We ordered spaghetti with red sauce for our child—simple, fresh, and perfectly cooked. It’s always a good sign when even the basics are done right. For ourselves, we went with both the seafood platter crudo and the cooked seafood platter, and both were outstanding. The crudo was incredibly fresh—delicate flavors of the sea, beautifully presented. The cooked platter was rich and satisfying, with each piece thoughtfully prepared and seasoned to let the natural flavors shine. The service was warm and attentive, with staff happy to explain the dishes and offer wine recommendations. It’s clear this is a place that cares about both its food and its guests. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a place that feels authentically Sicilian, Trattoria da Ignazio is absolutely worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) Excellent meat restaurant just outside the historic center of Modica. We ordered: the grilled Moors, the crunchy truffle eggs with Jerusalem artichoke puree, the spaghettoni with anchovies, the iblei cheese tile, the aubergine ravioli with tomato coulis and finally a typical ricotta cannoli (you can find everything in the photos attached). All very good. Personally, I particularly appreciated the grilled meat (meat cooked really well, the meatballs and Palermo-style rolls top), the aubergine ravioli (the flavors were very balanced and did not overwhelm) and the cannoli (the ricotta cream was fine and delicate ). These are not the classic Modican dishes, but in any case the flavors do not betray the Iblean territory (from which, moreover, the ingredients derive).

(Translated by Google) We had a pleasant dinner at this steakhouse restaurant which we had already tried for lunch last spring. We sat outside, in the large space reserved in front of the restaurant. Everything we ordered (tile of Iblei cheeses and bacon; cavati with tenerumi, cherry tomatoes and ragusano flakes; sliced with chard; pork ribs and the large mixed grill, plus the final cannoli) was to our full liking: in particular we appreciated the quality of the meats offered and how well they were cooked. The service is friendly without being intrusive. The only sore point: when it was time to pay, our Amex was not accepted (unlike three months ago) due (literally) to the "high commissions". Having pointed out that a place of these pretensions must accept a card such as American Express, the person in charge of payment (perhaps the owner or perhaps a waiter), declared to us that in his opinion the customers should pay the commissions on the cards and not the operator. From the series: how to drown in a glass of water.

If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience in Modica, "Sapori DOC di Modica Gabriella" is an absolute gem. This cozy wine shop offers a warm atmosphere where you can savor homemade traditional dishes crafted by Gabriella herself, while her husband Giuseppe (affectionately known as Pepe) provides attentive service. Guests rave about the incredible ricotta calda and grilled vegetables that burst with flavor. The zuppa di pesce is another highlight, showcasing the freshness of local ingredients.
The best food in modica and the best service We went here 5 times in 3 days absolute hidden treasure and highly recommend to go in modica No other restaurant in modica comes close to this one

Just spent a most wonderful afternoon sipping wine and eating freshly prepared, won derful food made by Gavmbriela herself and served by her most attentive husband, Giuseppe (our now friend, Pepe!) We could not decide on a wine, so her picked a perfect ine and let us try it before bringing a full, closed bottle. The ricotta calda was incredible. The grilled veggies out of this world. And to top it off, the zuppa di pesce was fresh and incredible! And not to be remiss, the spot is a 1700 building that is simply beautiful. Ans fresh! Grazie mille, Grabriela y Pepe!!!

Fantastic wines and fresh simple home made food. Best way to spend a relaxed afternoon in hot modica. The seating is cool , shaded and beautiful. The hosts are very nice and helpful. If I was staying in Modica I would come again. Highly recommend

Homestyle food and friendly hosts in a cosy wine shop. We really liked all the local typical dishes we ordered for lunch. Fava soup and warm ricotta are quintessential comfort foods. It was my first time having Scaccia and it was very good and the antipasti platter was generous and tasty. They were very accommodating of our toddler and have reasonable prices to boot! Recommended.
Televiseus — Google review
Wines are quite expensive, food is OK-ish at best, and worst of all: service is truly dismissive. They even shouted at the postman in front of the guests. Seems they don't like people too much, except for the money.
Oliver H — Google review
Great wine selection reasonably priced if you actually know wine. We found the owners Gabrielle and Pepe very friendly and helpful with information about local resturants.

Two wonderful hosts. Selection of Sicilian dishes, ideal for those who look for something other than Pasta and Pizza.

Nestled in the heart of Modica, Casa Don Puglisi - La Bottega is a delightful fusion of café, bookshop, and sweet shop that radiates warmth and friendliness. This charming spot boasts an impressive array of local cookies and biscuits alongside the renowned Modica chocolate available in various flavors. The menu features mouthwatering options like calzoni, focaccia, rustica, and arancini that are sure to satisfy any craving.
Very good arancini, the peperonata was also great! The people working are very nice and there is a young atmosphere. They sell different products but the quality of what we tried really good, we also bought something from their shop! I would definitely come back!

What a lovely place. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the whole philosophy of this place! Highly recommended for coffee, sweets, traditional chocolate and relaxing! Very kind and adorable staff. Hats off for free water

Very friendly atmosphere. It's a café-bookshop-sweetshop all in one. Great selection of local cookies and biscuits, Modica chocolate in all kinds of flavours, children's books and cookbooks. Delicious food (calzoni, focaccia, rustica, arancini in various flavours). You get a selection of biscuits to your hot drink. Plus point for being open throughout the day and mot closing in the afternoon. Totally saved our rainy day in Modica.

Food is delicious, I recommend the brioche with strawberry ice cream. There's no coke unfortunately. But the gaza cola tastes the same 🤷

A curious little place — part patisserie, part bookshop, part souvenir store. Wonderfully kind and helpful staff, excellent cakes, and that lovely atmosphere where everyone seems to know each other and be friends. Located on Corso Umberto, you can sit outside with a coffee and watch the world go by.

We were there for a quick coffee and a piece of cake and came back for a snack for the road. The prices are unbeatable. The cake was amazingly and the savory snacks were also really good. The staff was friendly and everything went smoothly.

Great place. Tasty desserts, also they have salted snacks. The hot chocolate was amazing, one of the best i tried in Italy, ask for different flavors.

We loved, everything tasted so good, sweet or savory: arancini, pasta di mandorle. When you get inside, you can feel there is something different, they don't try to sell you anything, you just feel welcome.

Pica Street Food, located in the heart of Modica's historic center, offers a variety of Sicilian and Venezuelan culinary delights. The menu includes pizzas, sandwiches, arancini, arepas, as well as traditional first and second courses made with high-quality ingredients. Additionally, Pica serves an innovative aperitivo with a wide selection of specialties and beverages. Visitors can enjoy generous portions and attentive service at this establishment.
Had lunch during our visit to Modica. The waitress is very cute and helpful. We couldn’t read Italian but she patiently enlightened us on the menu one by one. The portions were big for asian. They do match the price which in our opinion was reasonable enough. We’re muslim and very kind enough they actually allow us to pray at an empty space there. It’s a cute space but we couldn’t appreciate it more 😊

Roberto S — Google review
On my way home from grabbing groceries, I thought it would be nice to stop for a glass of wine and a quick bite. "Street Food" caught my eye, but before I knew it, I was sitting down in a restaurant with a menu in hand. Ordering a salad in a place like this seemed somewhat daring, but it was what I was craving. And I *thought* I was ordering just a small pizza, but it ended up being a full plate. The pizza was good (surprisingly plentiful toppings as opposed to, say, Neapolitan-style, which I tend to prefer). But what was the true (and unexpected) standout was the salad. Positively delicious. I would return if only to enjoy a salad. I found the staff to be professional and friendly, and they tolerated my miserable grasp of Italian.
Jordan Š — Google review
We had, among other yummy things, a vegetarian appetizer that tasted fantastic and a Tiramisu that can compete with Italy’s best! The waiters were also very nice - fully deserved 5 ⭐️!

Have visited this location a few times and have always came away full and satisfied with the experience but have chose to leave a review this time in regards to the excellent service provided by staff. my partners had accidentally split her drink and the gentleman who saw to us was very understanding and replaced her drink highly recommended for foreign customers for the partly english menu and staffs attempt to converse in english

The restaurant is not in the best location, on the side of a main road, but the food absolutely makes up for that little discomfort. Very nice taste, big portions and very friendly, English speaking staff. And it’s across the street from Bonajuto, so you have to be in this area anyway when in Modica.

Gli Orti di San Giorgio is a charming spot located in Modica, offering a delightful experience for visitors. Nestled under beautiful olive trees and overlooking the town, it provides a rustic and picturesque setting. The staff, while efficient, could be more welcoming. However, the food is not only well-presented but also delicious.
Superb restaurant. Excellent food and service with a great view. The central quiet location, the layout of the tables with the trees giving shade during a hot summer day is just perfect. The staff had a good command of English and was very kind.

This place is magical! The atmosphere is unique and the staff is very friendly and polite! It is really a romantic place and the view is breathtaking! I highly recommend it! If I ever visit Modica again, I will definitely visit you guys again!

Lovely lovely terrace and setting. Food was below average for Italy, I would say. Nothing overly special. The front of house staff was kind and nice, however, our food took a whooping 45min to arrive to the table. The dishes we ordered were salad based and the restaurant was not busy at all which did not justify the tardiness at all.
Fernando B — Google review
After a wonderful day walking this beautiful town, finding the perfect spot to cool off, relax & delight yourself with delicious food, Gli Orti Di ssn Georgio, was not only exactly what we were looking for but more. Beautiful location overlooking Modica, under wonderful olive trees. Rustic decor. Ok staff, in need of more friendly welcoming, but service was basic regardless. Food was not only well presented, but on time, beautifully & deliciously prepared. A true 5 sense experience. Highly recommend it.

Wonderful location with a wonderful view over Modica. Drinks are fairly expensive compared to the rest of Modica (5€ for 330ml draft beer, which was very tasty however!) but otherwise this is a great spot!
Christopher R — Google review
Great view with great drinks. We would recommend everyone to check out the bar with it's great view over Modica situated in the city centre in a small forest. Try out the Siciliy Spritz, it was phenomenal!
Paul F — Google review
A wonderful aperitivo bar/café with a variety of delicious food and drinks. Very tasty combinations, for example a toast with olive paste, cheese and artichokes. Beautiful place to sit below the trees, hidden between a small garden next to the stairs at the feet of the Duomo. Absolutely recommended.
