Coffee shop
Caffe Cordina is a historic cafe located in Valletta, Malta, dating back to 1837. It is situated in a palazzo on Republic Street and offers stunning views of the Valletta bastions and Sliema across the sea. The cafe has expanded over the years to include a restaurant, tea room, pasticceria, gelateria, and a standing coffee bar.
We popped in after walking by and were pleasantly surprised. The staff greeted us right away and suggested we stay for a bite to eat and to cool off, as it was an incredibly hot day, and we are so glad we did. The server made some great food suggestions, and we enjoyed a delicious coffee with ice cream in it. The cannoli was also fantastic. There were so many food and dessert options that we had a hard time deciding. The space itself truly captured the vibe and aesthetic of Malta, from the food and drinks to the gorgeous beams and detailed decorations. We were fascinated with just the ambiance alone. It was beautiful, welcoming, and full of charm. It was such a lovely stop and a perfect break from the heat. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.

We had our very first meal in Malta here after a long flight, and it turned out to be an absolute steal. Our waiter was a lovely, sweet lady who made us feel right at home. We ordered a chicken salad, an octopus salad, chicken pasta, along with plenty of drinks and some ice cream to finish. Every portion was generous, the prices were very reasonable, and the quality was excellent. The atmosphere felt almost majestic, making the whole experience even better. We really enjoyed this place, would definitely recommend it, and will most likely return ourselves!

Wanted to have drink and small snack. End up order happy hour drink and octopus salad. It's bigger salad than I expected! Yummy and spicy one. It's nice place at the square to sit and look people moving around. Attentive staffs. Inside restaurant is beautiful place, nice decorations.

We went to this café to stay and rest while taking an ice cream The place is very fancy, beautiful, it looks like a dream for sure. Service is too pushy, too fast, we just wanted to see the menu we didnt really know all they could offer. They asked us 3 times what we wanted in 5 minutes. I felt pressure Coffee and hot chocolate were amazing, both with pistachios. But ice cream was the opposite, i couldn’t finish it because of the taste, too bad !

Caffè Cordina is a true gem in the heart of Valletta! The atmosphere is elegant and full of charm, with its beautiful historic interior and outdoor seating that’s perfect for soaking up the city’s vibe. The pastries and cakes are absolutely delicious—especially their traditional Maltese treats—and the coffee is excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re stopping for breakfast, a sweet treat, or just a coffee break, Caffè Cordina is a must-visit when exploring Valletta. A perfect blend of history, flavor, and warm hospitality!

We loved this place. Great coffee! The food we ate at the restaurant was fantastic. So we’re the almond tartlets I bought to bring home. I can’t wait to visit again on my next trip to Valletta.
Julie R — Google review
A historic café dating back to 1837 — full of charm and local character. The pastries are excellent and definitely worth trying, though the ice cream was a bit too sweet for my taste. Still, a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee and dessert in the heart of Valletta!
Mia O — Google review
Stood in doorway as instructed by sign to be seated for over 15mins, had to get someone’s attention as staff continently walked past without saying anything. Then I was told indoor seating was closed, but I could sit outside. Have sat here now for 20mins with waiters ignoring me. Was going to have a burger here, but you know what screw it and I go Burger King instead ! Bad reviews on customer service 100% correct! Not even busy with two waiters attending to about 6-7 tables👎

Guzé is a popular bistro housed in a 16th-century building with a low-key and inviting decor. The menu offers a variety of sea creatures, seasonal vegetables, and traditional Maltese favorite rabbit served in modern variations. The restaurant takes traditional, seasonal ingredients and presents them in new and exciting ways.
Guze is the best restaurant we tried during our 4-day trip in Malta. The dishes are adventurous compared to the other restaurants and were well executed. The flavours worked harmoniously and I must say the price was extremely reasonable. I think this restaurant has potential for one-star if the team keeps up the good work.

Lovely little restaurant with spirit in heart of Valeta. Amazing experience; tried tasting menu with wine pairing. Recommend as you'll try many typical dishes, well done prepared and delicious. Staff very friendly and attentive. Pasta dishes delicious, the fish as well, rabbit was also the same level. It's expensive but if you want to treat yourself, good choice.
Ivana R — Google review
What an amazing place, a great way to end our day in Valetta. Tucked away on the corner of a street just off the main thoroughfare of Republic St, you go down into the restaurant and almost back in time, a very nostalgic, quaint, intimate setting. We booked and good thing too with only 5 tables. But the food was incredible, service excellent and a truly great experience. The Octopus starter was exceptionally good.
Adrian Q — Google review
We visited Guze on our first night in Malta and it did not disappoint. Before the starters arrived, we were served complimentary bread with tomato paste that tasted deliciously fresh. For our starters we ordered the black pig pappardale and the barraga pasta. The portions were generous and the quality of the food was superb. For our mains we ordered the rabbit and pork belly. Although we were impressed by the standard of the food, the mains felt too rich to finish, and unfortunately we had to leave some of it behind. The only aspect we felt could be improved was the service: although the waiters were attentive, each course took a while to arrive. Overall, we were very impressed with our meal at Guze and would recommend it to anyone who would like to try some of Valetta's specialties without breaking the bank.
Dayna M — Google review
We had a fantastic experience at Guze. The manager was friendly and helpful and explained each of the dishes and best wines to pair with them. The amuse bouche was a cauliflower soup, local bread and a tomato pesto, incredible! The black pig and the octopus starter were exquisite in display and taste and the main courses of veal and and the local fish, just perfect. The atmosphere atmosphere was lovely, tucked away in one of Valletta’s charming old buildings. Couldn’t recommend it more highly, worth going out of your way to dine here! Thank you!

The food was excellent (especially «Black pig»), but even better was the athmosphere and the service. Very warm and friendly

Excellent choice for a special night out with Greta atmosphere. The menu had great choices and the food was wonderful. Great service with special “extras” made for a memorable evening.

Stunningly good in every respect! This was our second visit a year after the first having remembered the warm welcome and good food in this wonderful place. We tried the tasting menu, 5 courses with wines and were just blown away. All helped by a great host, amazing food, and the tiny entrance which makes you feel like you're entering another world (well it did me at 6'4"). We'll be back again.

Restaurant
Legligin Restaurant, which translates to "one who drinks a lot," is a delightful restaurant and wine bar in Valletta, Malta. Nestled in the cellar of an original townhouse, the rustic ambiance is accentuated by red shutters, stone walls adorned with wine bottle holes, and an assortment of crockery. The establishment offers Maltese meze paired with a selection of over 30 exceptional wines.
The visit to this restaurant was one of the remarkable experiences! Every menu item I had was very tasty, it is hard to point something out but the tuna is the winner for me. The indoor of is very nice, service was also fine, explaining everything about the food which, as I understand, is rotating and changing frequently. I also have to mention the price - considering this restaurant is mentioned in the Micheline guide, the food is superb and the amount is in total huge, the price is very reasonable for Malta. Can surely recommend.
Vojtěch N — Google review
Quite a nice place with local Maltese cuisine. Just a heads-up — it’s a full tasting menu with five to seven courses, so make sure you arrive really hungry! 😅 I wouldn’t say Maltese cuisine is my personal favourite, but it’s definitely worth trying for the experience — authentic flavours, generous portions, and a cozy local vibe. 🇲🇹🍷
Ira K — Google review
Dinner at Legligin, Valletta – A True Maltese Experience I finally visited Legligin Restaurant in Valletta, and it lived up to everything I’d heard — authentic, intimate, and full of character. The evening started with a warm welcome and a short story about the name Legligin — it comes from the Maltese word for the sound of wine being poured, “glug-glug.” That alone set the tone. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place built around conversation, family, and good wine. I chose the tasting menu, which is the only option here — no à la carte, just trust the kitchen. Every dish felt honest and homemade. The fish soup was light but deeply flavored, full of fresh local fish, carrots, and herbs. You could tell the broth had been simmering slowly for hours. Then came the pasta, perfectly cooked, coated in a creamy tomato-based sauce with herbs and a touch of spice. Simple, comforting, and delicious — the kind of dish that doesn’t try too hard because it doesn’t need to. The beef stew was my favorite — tender chunks of meat with mushrooms and garlic in a creamy sauce. It reminded me of something you’d get in a home kitchen on a Sunday, rich and soulful. For dessert, a chocolate cake soaked in cream, topped with candied fruit and coconut. Sweet, dense, and satisfying, it felt like a festive Maltese twist on a classic pudding. Everything paired beautifully with a local wine, Marsovin Antonin 2023, smooth and balanced, with a depth that worked perfectly with the food. The space itself feels like a time capsule — old stone walls, soft lighting, and just a few tables. It’s small, personal, and cozy, as if you’re dining in someone’s home. You can feel the family touch: the owner, Chris Mifsud Bonnici, still works closely with his wife and son. That warmth translates into everything — the food, the service, the atmosphere. Legligin isn’t flashy or modern, and that’s exactly why it’s special. It’s a reminder that great dining doesn’t need to be complicated — just real people, real food, and a love for what they do. If you’re in Malta, book ahead. Come hungry. And don’t ask for the menu — just let them cook for you.

What an arrival! Here we had our first gastro experience in Malta. It is a perfect place if you want to get an insight of the maltese cousine. For dinner they serve 7 different dishes, presenting the various spices of the local food. We loved all of them, definitely a worth to try restaurant! Also I recommend to get some nice wine of Malta beside the dishes. :)
Sára K — Google review
Fell in love with this place from the moment we entered. Greeted like old friends, warm but professional. Amazing atmosphere low level music sets the mood while not being to loud. The food took us on a journey of taste like no other, if your in Malta and don’t visit this place can you actually say you’ve been to Malta 😁

This restaurant was definitely a highlight of our trip to Malta. It was fantastic from start to finish. Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Highly recommend you must book.

Absolutely incredible surprise Maltese tasting menu, I tried so many new cuisines and thought the price was great value for what we got. I had to roll my partner back to the hotel he was so full! Service was excellent and I also have coeliac disease which they catered for very well, so extra points for that. A must visit if you're staying in Valletta!

Restaurant
The Harbour Club, located in Valletta, is a Michelin-listed restaurant known for its creative and high-quality dishes, extensive wine selection, and excellent service. Situated alongside the charming harbourside, it offers picturesque views of the Grand Harbour. The restaurant's sleek terrace provides an ideal setting to savor French-influenced cuisine with a focus on seafood. The building's history as a warehouse adds to its unique charm, while live jazz music enhances the dining experience.
The food is amazing and it tells a story of Valletta. It is flavourful and interesting. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They take pride in the fact that everything is made fresh. At the end of the meal we were given some delicious passion fruit jelly, and when the waiter knew I love it (as I asked if they sell them as well), he brought us another two pieces. Small gestures but very memorable
Nicole X — Google review
What a stunning venue for a meal the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. Firstly I have to admit I was vying for a two course meal but the tuna was for a minimum of two people. I was therefore persuaded to have the tasting menu as that included the tuna (for one). A expresó martini to whet the appetite was splendid.
Gerard D — Google review
Superb food, attentive staff and atmosphere was second to none. We were looking out over the harbour with delightful surroundings. Starters were excellent choice. We had ravioli and the tomatoes. Beef was cooked perfectly. Puddings were just right.

Where am I gonna start is the question. What is there not to like with Ambience when having the grand harbour as your background. The food, is a feast of flavours and culture with the food cards matched to popular Malta streets and landmarks. The service is nothing less than exceptional. Very attentive and professional staff. My gf and I had one of the best experiences ever. Ps - do not leave without trying the dessert. You'll thank me later
Donald M — Google review
I dined alone, on a solo holiday, at this lovely little place. They set me up at the window with a view, as requested, because it was too windy outside. It was one of the best dining experiences I have had. I was there for 2.5 hours, having the 7 course tasting menu, paied with wines for each course. Stellar! Each course came with a little description card as they were named after a street in Valletta. The card gave a little history of the street the food was named after. I was so excited for the risotto, I forgot to take a picture! Maria snuck my camera into the kitchen and took a picture of one the chef was preparing! Sorry Chef, for invading your creative space! I highly recommend this restaurant. It has a great atmosphere, great food and very friendly and helpful staff. Bravo Harbour Club! And thank you.
Connie “ — Google review
The experience was very fun! It is not only about eating but also experiencing different flavours, they give you some free entries. The dessert was wonderful. The only thing, I expected more history in between the dishes, as it was mentioned each one represented a part of history of Malta. But I would come back again.
CELEVIS — Google review
Beautiful location, thoughtful menu praising the history of Malta (also delicious, btw). The whole concept is great! Definitely worth trying!
Maria S — Google review
We really enjoyed our evening here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the setting was lovely. We had 2 courses each plus, the complimentary bread and amuse bouche. All the food was nicely presented and delicious. At the end of the meal I mentioned that we would have liked to have tried the tasting menu but we had been so disappointed with the tasting menu at the 1 star Michelin the previous night, that it put us off. She then showed us some photos of their dishes, and they all looked great. The chocolate desert was 100 times better than the one we had the night before. Definitely recommend this place.

Maltese restaurant
Nenu The Artisan Baker in Valletta is a long-established restaurant that offers traditional Maltese favorites, including the opportunity for visitors to participate in 'Bake your own Ftira' sessions. The eatery welcomes both locals and tourists to savor authentic cuisine in a typical bakery setting. With various dining areas like the Courtyard and the Attic, it's suitable for special occasions and events.
We had our first meal here and the food exceeded our expectations. The starter, grilled aubergine with date pate and crushed walnut, and rockets is different but excellent. The horse meat and rabbit are tender with amazing gravy. The octopus dish is one of the best I had, tender with a lot of flavor. The only suggestion is that the restaurant should serve the bread, since it is named after the baker.
Explore K — Google review
The restaurant's space is very pleasant, and a key reason we chose to eat there was to try the rabbit. Unfortunately, it was not available during our evening visit, so we ordered something else. We were so determined to try the rabbit that we returned the next day, and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed everything we ate. Of the two desserts we tried, the traditional Maltese sinizza and the bread pudding, we liked the former much more. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was lovely, so it is definitely worth a visit.
David A — Google review
I really enjoyed the place—no outdoor tables, but very authentic indoors. The staff were very polite and friendly. The fish soup was relatively standard, perhaps a bit too heavy on the rice, carrots, and potatoes, and not enough fish but it had a very pleasant taste. The rabbit stew was good, with many different pieces of meat, a side of potatoes, and grilled vegetables. Prices are fair, and overall it was a positive experience.
Kris T — Google review
Amazingly generous serving sizes, friendly service, and live music. The pork knuckle and snails (very sweet) were both enough to share between 2-3 people. The rabbit ravioli was super dense/rich, and we found the pasta wrapper very thick and doughy. Would recommend booking well in advance by email, as there are liens at night, and they don’t seem to answer the phone.
V L — Google review
Amazing local experience! Portions are really big! We had grilled aubergine for starter, octopus and traditional rabbit. Everything was very very delicious!! Better to make a reservation before coming.
Rasa K — Google review
I have only great things to say about this restaurant. The food was exquisite and Ripjan was such an amazing waiter. He was so attentive and considerate. We hadn’t booked a table and he still found such a good spot inside. Thank you for the quality food and service!!!
Adriana A — Google review
Great experience trying some local Maltese foods. The service was good and helped point out popular and local dishes to try. The portions were good and the food was very tasty. However as it got later the service did seem to suffer with servers visiting us very infrequently after we had finished our meals. This could be due to it getting bushier. Also as it got busier the restaurant was noisy/echoy and it was hard to hear each other at the table.
Catherine H — Google review
We had pleasure to dine in this local and elegant restaurant. We try the horde and rabbit plate the octopus and the snails. I can say with confidence were the most delicious plates i ever try. Must try if you are in valleta if you wanna hey out of touristic traps and have nice fresh well cooked food in a nice ambiance. Last but not least service was excellent and hospitable all the time!

Noni is a renowned restaurant located in Valletta's Republic Street, at the heart of the vibrant dining and entertainment scene. The establishment offers a blend of Maltese and Mediterranean cuisine with a modern French twist. Chef Jonathan Brincat has curated an elegant menu featuring dishes such as rabbit confit croquettes, slow-cooked octopus tagine, and te fit-tazza dessert.
Dinner at Noni was truly a dream come true to me. <3 Every detail in food and service were polished to the perfection. Noni's acoustics, music and the layout of tables keeps the atmosphere very calm, intimate and relaxing. You can almost forgot there are anyone else, because you won't hear any clanging of the cutlery or glasses around you. The service was warm, relaxed, professional and they make you feel like part of the family. I always appreciate when great professional service doesn't mean distant or cold. In Noni it was the opposite and everyone working there felt unique and very genuine. I am not sure if I have the words to describe the food. It was so beautiful, balanced, interesting, fresh... It felt more like art than food and I loved the stories behind the dishes. I always appreciate the little brain tickle that happens when I get to taste some surprising flavors or when something that looked super light was in fact very rich in flavor and other way around. We had the long menu and the amount of food was perfect, I actually really felt able to enjoy every dish and not being full half way the menu. All in all: warmly recommend and looking forward to go back soon. <3

Tonight (16 May) we dined at Noni. My mother joined us and she has significant mobility issues. The staff was incredibly accommodating of her mobility needs and food issues. They could not have been kinder and it nearly left me in tears. On top of that the food and drinks were just fantastic and I say that having been to many Michelin starred restaurants before. This was the highlight of our wonderful trip to Malta.

I was lucky enough to visit this restaurant. It was one of the best decisions I've made. You feel like you're in another dimension when you taste these dishes, the play of flavors, the impressive presentation, and the excellent service. Yes, the prices aren't cheap, but it's worth it. We'll definitely come back.

I dined here this evening and simply put, this was the best meal of my life. I'm a nobody from the states. I'm not a food critic, I'm not a blogger but I have traveled the world and have many good meals in my life. I didn't know food could taste like this. I'll recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone and my highest respects to the chef and staff. 1,000/10

We had dinner at Noni with a group of seven. The staff was reasonably friendly, and the restaurant itself is located in a beautiful historic building. We were seated upstairs — still nice, but a bit less atmospheric than the main floor and a little chilly because of the air conditioning. The food was very good. It’s a set-menu concept with several courses, where you can choose between a standard or a more extended version, plus a few optional dishes. The flavors were excellent — the fish, for example, was outstanding — but the portions were quite small. One dish, a ravioli course, literally consisted of a single raviolo. If you go for the basic menu without extras, you might leave feeling a bit hungry. The wines, on the other hand, were excellent and paired very well with the food. All in all, Noni is a very good restaurant with refined dishes and great wine, but considering the price and portion sizes, I wouldn’t call it an absolute must.

We had dinner on September 30th. It is located in a quiet street in Valletta away from the daily tourism. Unfortunately, the place is divided into two parts, 3 tables on the entrance floor (quite anonymous in my opinion and certainly does not understand the history of the place) and other tables on the lower floor where the kitchen is located and where you can really breathe the 400 years of the place. We were given a table on the upper floor, and the only one under the air conditioning outlet (we asked if they could turn it off because it was quite annoying, they turned it off only for 10 minutes after which it was turned back on) we had dinner with the sweater. Good food, well presented and well explained by the staff (attentive and friendly staff). The sore point in my opinion is the price (price that we knew before coming), not in line with the dinner offered and the location.

Simply outstanding. Praises for the food where one course was better and more beautiful than the next We had the base wine pairing and it was a delicious selection of wines including local wine. A gem!

Is-Suq Tal-Belt, also known as Covered Market, is a beautifully renovated 19th-century building in Valletta. Designed by Hector Zimelli and completed in 1861, it now houses a vibrant international food court and grocery market. The three levels offer an array of experiences: the ground floor features a bustling food market with fresh produce, while the first floor hosts restaurants serving global specialties and bars. On the top floor, visitors can unwind in an open space.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I recently visited Is-Suq Tal-Belt in Valletta and absolutely loved the experience! The food market had such a lively atmosphere, with lots of delicious options to choose from. I tried the tacos, which were fresh, flavorful, and had just the right amount of spice. The fillings were generous, and the guacamole on the side was creamy and refreshing. I also had the spring rolls – they were crispy and served with a sweet chili sauce that was perfect for dipping. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and everything was served quickly. Overall, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in Valletta – it’s a great spot to try a variety of tasty dishes in a vibrant setting!

Love it here for snacks and a food shop for self catering! We got a delicious pizza from one outlet (ricotta, spinach, honey and walnuts) and timpana from another stall. Both delicious and washed down with a couple of pints of ice cold Cisk! 🤩

It is part of the esteemed Grain restaurant trio under the AX Hotels brand, led by Executive Chef Victor Borg. The restaurant offers an al fresco dining experience and has earned a coveted Bib Gourmand for its inventive Mediterranean-inspired cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients.
Amazing breakfast venue with even more amazing staff. With a fantastic view down to the sea, thus is a great venue. The set breakfasts were just beyond compare and the staff so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back! Special call out to the team lead Katho for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Tucked away on a quiet side street for pedestrians near the Rosselli Hotel, Grain street sits adjacent to its sister restaurant with a Michelin star called Under Grain and they share the same kitchen. The two spacious outdoor dining areas — perfect for warm days with chilled background music. The terrace is stylish and inviting, setting a refined yet relaxed tone. Inside, there’s a small bar and a couple of tables near the entrance, giving an intimate first impression. The meal started well with excellent bread, tuna tapenade, good-quality olive oil, and marinated olives. The starter of pig’s ears — thinly sliced, lightly battered, and slightly sweet with a touch of sauce — was an interesting and well-executed dish, great for sharing. For mains, I tried the local fresh fish (sea bass) with Bronte pistachio, pink grapefruit, and basil. The flavours were pleasant, and the nut crust added nice texture, but the portion was disappointingly small and felt poor value for money. The Lasagne ‘Nera’ — a seafood lasagna made with squid ink, calamari, and a hint of nduja — was very good, rich in flavour and beautifully balanced (€19/€22). I also sampled the local Hauteville Cabernet–Shiraz blend. It was fine, but again, the pour was on the small side for the price. Service, while polite, was glacially slow — a true example of the “slow food” experience, though perhaps unintentionally

One of the best restaurants we’ve been to. We had the tasting menu, and everything served was exceptionally amazing! The risotto and the nero di sepia lasagna are beautiful. The desserts were mouthwateringly good..definetly helped to end the night on a sweet note. The only complain i have is that the portions were a bit small for the price of the tasting menu. Other than that, I cannot flaw the food, the service or the atmosphere. Would 100% recommend and revisit

It was the best food experience during our 6 nights staying in Malta. The food was delicious, especially local tomato salad with burratina and passion fruit tart, service on the highest level, atmosphere- chic and elegant. Worth to recommend and come back!

We spent almost two weeks at Hotel St. John and had the pleasure of enjoying the breakfast. Every day was a delight. A heartfelt thank you for the excellent service and outstanding care. A huge thank you goes to the breakfast manager Katho, who, together with her wonderful team, turned every morning into an experience with great oversight and professionalism. Each morning was a wonderful start to a new vacation day. Warm greetings from Germany.

We enjoyed a flawless meal at Grain Street our first night in Valletta. We had drinks, appetizers, main courses, and desserts - all were exceptionally delicious. I had the grilled rib-eye and the flavor of the sauce was so tasty but didn’t take away from the flavor of the steak - yum. The complimentary bread, olives, and spread were a nice bonus (best bread we tried in Malta). The service was friendly and gave great suggestions. My wife enjoyed a pasta dish. The rice ice cream tasted heavenly, as did the passion fruit tart. We highly recommend this place and plan to return any time we visit Malta in the future.

I had the most tender and delicious steak, and the dessert also deserves a mention - very interesting and unique. As for the service, there was a bit too much attention, which felt slightly unpleasant at times. Overall, it’s a must-visit place in Valetta.

Restaurant
ION Harbour By Simon Rogan is a Michelin-starred restaurant located on the rooftop of Valletta's Iniala Harbour House. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with French-inspired cuisine using the best seasonal Maltese ingredients. Guests can enjoy panoramic views of Valletta's Grand Harbour while indulging in exquisite dishes and an extensive wine list.
Staff at this restaurant are fantastic They really know their food and are passionate about giving you excellent service. The finer details set this wonderful restaurant apart from others. We went to celebrate our 2st wedding anniversary and every member of staff who served us congratulated us. We were also given a bespoke message on our menu to take home. The sommelier was excellent and talked us through the range of champagnes. He was so kind and knowledgeable. All of the food is exquisite and served so delicately and professionally. Food is all locally sourced and we loved the collaborations the restaurant has with other local business and farmers. The views from the restaurant are overlooking the harbour and the whole experience was divine. Having been to Rogan and Co. Our expectations were high, and most certainly met! (And then some!) Thank you so much for making our anniversary extra special.

The food at this five-star restaurant was exceptional—flavorful, well-cooked, and beautifully presented. The wine selection was also fantastic, perfectly complementing the meal. The atmosphere was elegant and inviting, making it a great spot for a special night out. However, the service left something to be desired. The waiters seemed to stare at our table the entire time, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, the main waiter bumped into my arm quite harshly without apologizing or acknowledging it. Despite the service issues, the food and wine were truly outstanding, making it worth a visit.
Marco M — Google review
Your expectations are high when visiting a 2 start Michelin restaurant, unfortunately they did not get there this time. I have visited one star Michelin restaurants that have a more polished experience. The food was fresh and had a deep flavors as well as a lot of variation. The first two small dishes were excellent and deserve five stars. But, I was full after the fish main course, after that came the meat main course and 3 desserts. The placement of the cutlery was also odd and not the same for I and my partner, I hade to move them before I got my food, otherwise the plate was place at the corner of the table not in front of me... To end on a good note the wine pairing was perfect and the Swedish speaking servant was really good. Nice and calm atmosphere.

We’ve eaten at Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume many times, so we weren’t sure how Ion would compare — but it absolutely exceeded expectations. Every course was beautifully balanced, inventive, and full of flavour. The service was impeccable: warm, attentive, and perfectly paced without ever feeling rushed. The setting, overlooking Valletta, was breathtaking and added so much to the experience. An exceptional meal from start to finish — thoughtful, elegant, and memorable. The highlight of our trip to Malta.

Incredible bday experience! The food was spectacular, as expected. The view was also amazing. But the thing that turned this into an incredible birthday was the service and atmosphere. The staff members (with the highlight being Chil, if I’m spelling it well) were fantastic - really fun! We love good food but hate the stuffy, pretentious service that you sometimes get in Michelin star restaurants and this was a breath of fresh air. Thanks for giving me an amazing birthday! Extra tip: get the wine pairing, it’s really worth it
Areti T — Google review
A fantastic experience in every way. Lunch tasting menu was an excellent option for relaxed dining over 2-2.5 hours, definitely worth adding the wine flight. Excellent service and calm environment.
Adam C — Google review
The food at Ion Harbour was excellent. Beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with great care. Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match the quality of the food. There were several servers looking after our table, which led to some confusion. At one point, a dish was being brought out but the server walked past our table down the terrace, then back again, before finally serving it to us. We also weren’t offered the optional caviar for one of the dishes, which felt like a missed detail. At the end of the meal, I asked for the drinks menu to enjoy a digestif, but were brought the bill instead. Halfway through the digestif we were given the bill again and told they needed to prepare for dinner service — even though there was still another table nearby eating. This left us feeling rushed and ended the experience on a sour note which was disappointing given the level of restaurant and the price point. Overall, the food was a highlight, but the service prevented the experience from feeling as special as it could have been.
Catherine — Google review
The food was amazingly creative and really tantalized the taste buds. Wonderful scenic views of Malta from the restaurant. However the service was substandard for a 2* restaurant, the staff weren’t friendly and most of them had a haughty attitude. Let’s just say “Service with a smile” isn’t on their menu.

Sciacca Grill in Valletta is a top choice for meat enthusiasts, offering high-quality steak cuts and freshly grilled sausages. Named after a Sicilian village, this unique steak and grill restaurant provides an exceptional culinary experience. Guests can savor a variety of mouth-watering dishes, from fresh to aged steaks, while enjoying a delightful ambiance and excellent service.
Simply superb, this looks and feels like an upmarket steak restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Talked us all through the different cuts of meat, the recommended cooking style etc. You get to stand at the counter admiring your options before choosing. Our waiter helped us pair wine to our choices, and we were not disappointed with anything. This place is heaven for a carnivore like me! Of note, the family who sat next to us had a vegan diner, who was offered various choices and she seemed to enjoy her visit too.

We went to SciAcca Grill with high expectations, but the steak was somewhat underwhelming — not quite as flavorful as we had hoped. Bit fatty too. However, the mushroom dish was absolutely delicious and stood out as the highlight of the meal. The total came to around €260 for three people, which felt a bit steep given the overall experience.
HY — Google review
The atmosphere is great and the staff are polite and friendly. However, the meat quality didn’t quite match the price point and could definitely be improved.
Aris K — Google review
We’ve been to a lot of steak houses, so I’m assessing this one in that category and heavily weighing towards the steak. Steak was good but didn’t knock our socks off. Fried sliced potatoes were best we’ve had. Cocktails were on point and Maltese wine choice was perfect. We were offered a nice local prickly pear digestive at the end of the meal. Maybe a bit picky, but we were disappointed to be seated in high traffic area next to bar. We had a reservation we made a week in advance and the restaurant was not busy when we arrived.

I recently had dinner at Sciacca Grill and ordered ribeye, sausage, and fish. Unfortunately, the sausage was served undercooked, and after eating it I had stomach issues afterward. The restaurant removed the sausage from the bill, but the experience still left me very disappointed. Food safety is extremely important, and serving undercooked sausage should not happen. I hope the management takes this seriously and improves their kitchen checks, because this really affected my meal and my evening.

Nestled in the heart of Valletta on Old Bakery Street, Rubino is a cozy Italian trattoria that offers a charming and intimate dining experience. Originally established as a confectionery in 1906, this family-run restaurant has evolved into a beloved bistro known for its classic Maltese and Italian dishes.
Absolutely incredible experience. We came last minute as a group of 7 for lunch, they sat us downstairs in the cellar. Really cool vibe and a nice reprieve from the heat outside. Kevin served us and recommended the rabbit for all of us. It was absolutely phenomenal. Other highlights were the fried goat cheese and the calamari. Very reasonably priced and one of the best meals I’ve had. 10/10 would recommend

Favourite meal of recent holiday to Valletta. Many great looking Maltese or Italian dishes with local twist. Very good value even when we picked the expensive prawn for one of our mains. Attentive service and really enjoyable atmosphere. The veal milanese was exceptional.
Lewis C — Google review
This former pastry shop has gained a reputation as a high end restaurant over the last 20-30 years and due to its central location in Valletta it is difficult to expect a table without booking ahead, which our party thankfully did. All diners are given the manager’s briefing on the contents of the day’s menu, so one is well informed on what’s available on the off. My steamed octopus was on the chewy side but very tasty, and while the fried rabbit was excellent. The attention we received from the manager was first class and we ate and drank till late, finishing off with a Gozitan carob liquor offered on the house. Pricing is not cheap, but the service levels and food quality can explain this.
David F — Google review
5/5 highly recommend, and would comeback again. Chalkboard menu of excellent local Maltese special (get the rabbit you won’t regret it!) - which means it changes based on available fresh ingredients, or fresh catch. White table cloth but it’s not snobby, in fact it’s super chill. We came at lunch time, only imagine dinner is even a chic, easy vibe. Kevin - will lead you the right way. Suffice to say the service here is 10/10 front and back of the house is a well oiled machine. Do try the Maltese wine with your meal. Pls book ahead of time because they are fairly popular especially with the dinner crowd.
Val A — Google review
The food was sublime, cooked to perfection and packed with flavour. It was nice that there were a few vegetarian options which weren’t afterthoughts which is appreciated. Unfortunately it took many attempts to pay and leave and while we were waiting at the front desk trying to pay the manager ignored us and dealt with a customer who walked in the door. The other waitstaff were great! I did squash a cockroach at the dining table which put a damper on the atmosphere.

Friday dinner at Rubino in Valletta and it didn’t disappoint. We started with the mushrooms — simple and tasty. OX tongue and the rabbit stew were the main course. Both were tender, rich, and full of flavor. Cozy spot with friendly service. Worth a visit if you want to try well-made local Maltese dishes.

Such a lovely atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. I wish I had asked our server’s name as he was so helpful and kind. He recommended a lovely Maltese wine and made sure that I could find something to eat on the menu. My boyfriend really wanted to try this restaurant and I wasn’t sure what vegan options they’d have but the chef came out and personally explained what he could do for me. The dish was absolutely delicious. Would recommend.
Saskia H — Google review
A long established local restaurant with Sicilian founder. Good honest local food and flavours. Plenty of Maltese and international wine to choose from. Vegetarian starters but the main course essentially fish and meat; the vegetarian risotto could have been a main course. The restaurant is small intimate with years of heritage and local history oozing. The food was delicious. The service, was succinct and functional. The people who served us are best described as rough diamonds.

I'm guessing this restaurant has changed hands. Whilst the two wait staff were very nice, they have no idea how to run a restaurant. The drinks were ok. The food on the other hand wasn't quite up to my last economy flight on Qantas. Two prawns (i suspect frozen) and a plate full of marginal at best calamari for 32 euro. Bread served with olive oil and vinegar, "put it on your bread and butter plate". Best of luck.

We have been to Malta a few times and this is by far our favourite restaurant. The menu isn’t fussy, just proper food cooked well. We were so glad we booked to dine here during our stay in Valletta! Everything was outstanding from the food, drinks and service. The menu is a set sharing menu which is all local and seasonal. It is amazing what the chefs can create with the food that is available. The mains are a selection from a list where our server helped us decide from all the options. Every dish was well explained and absolutely delicious. You were not rushed and could sit and enjoy the dining experience. Highly recommended and we will be back!

Restaurant Tal-Petut specializes in local dishes with a seasonal twist, where all ingredients are sourced locally (some straight from the garden of the owner). There is no set menu, and depending on the produce of the day, the chef will prepare a three-course sharing meal at a set price of €45 per person. Our dishes included a selection of vegetable antipasti, succulent pork belly, slow-cooked rabbit (a local delicacy), stuffed chicken with fresh figs and Christmas-inspired desserts. And the service was great. Definitely a highlight! Follow on instagram for more travel inspiration: @revelintravel

Just Wow, the Classic and the best Restaurant I have visited in my lifetime. We were 6 people from office, and this place was selected by my local friend and colleague. This place requires reservation as mandatory, and the walk from main road to this restaurant is splendid, with lot of old building with beautiful art. We reached the restaurant around 8 pm, the welcome to the restaurant and way to the table was great, the server made sure we were comfortable. The service was just impeccable. I am a vegetarian and updated the same to the service guy, he made sure I had the best food. The server is explains in detail about the dishes of the day, they don't have printed menu, he explains step by step, everything is prepared fresh. This restaurant was the only one in while Malta where I got to eat authentic Maltese Food. Would recommend this hotel to each and everyone around the world to visit it atleast once. Met the owner at last and was so humble, Thank you for the great evening 😊

A great selection of food which was really tasty, large portions and reasonably priced. Staff were all very friendly too and we didn’t feel rushed despite the restaurant being packed.

The place is well located, very close to the entrance to Valletta, ideal for a coffee, a refreshing drink for this summer. The menu is also very gourmet and delicious. I had breakfast there and my experience was great. I recommend the place 10/10. The staff is very professional and always available if you need anything for the table.

Tribe Malta had delicious food, I tried the chicken schnitzel which was just the right amount of portions. The service was friendly and the food came fast. I was early to dinner so later in the evening it may be busier. Downsides, I didn’t like all the mirrors which made you feel like you were in a fishbowl and the water glasses need to be bigger! Otherwise, I recommend and would definitely eat there again.

Lovely place to have a breakfast, brunch or even dinner. The place's decoration ir really unique in Valletta, staff are friendly, patient and available. The place fits for vegetetians and vegans, eventhough the choices are not various. Prices are correct and meets the plates quality and quantity, count around 15/20€ a meal. Waiting time were pretty fast, but I might suggest to reserve in your experiencing the place during season, as it was already crowded out season. I defenetly recommend

After searching for the best brunch on TikTok, this place totally lived up to the recommendation. We were looking for an Instagrammable spot with great food in the heart of Valletta – and that’s exactly what we found. They make their own sourdough bread, which is amazing. I had the Sweet Soul Sister with salmon and avocado, and my friend had the Toast Malone. We finished off with the Dubai pancakes – absolutely delicious! The staff was super friendly, the food was fantastic, and the place is just too cute. Thank you – highly recommended!

The restaurant/cafe offers an exceptional ambiance complemented by attentive and welcoming staff. Its prime location adds to the overall appeal, while the menu features a delectable array of dishes served in notably generous portions. An outstanding dining experience with my colleagues.

got sat down very quickly by a nice server, we ordered and got our food in under 15-20 mins. there is more bugs than people here, and it’s so irritating, but they can’t help that. Food was underwhelming, we ordered the baobuns and fries, all fries in malta are undercooked it’s an island wide problem. The baobuns tasted of just meh, far too much ginger and sweet chilli, the chicken was a little pink in the middle - will update if i blow up the bathroom tomorrow. All in all, as with the rest of the maltese restaurants just absolute mid.

A fantastic little breakfast place in the heart of valetta. The food was delicious and fresh and the service was so genuine and hilarious. Would definitely come back again when visiting malta. I cant recall the servers name but he was very helpful and so funny. :) thank you.

Under Grain, located in the charming vaulted cellar of the Rosselli-AX Privilege boutique hotel in Valletta, Malta, has garnered a reputation as one of the finest dining establishments in the country since its launch in 2019. Boasting a Michelin star for three consecutive years, this restaurant offers a stellar fine dining experience with classic French cuisine infused with modern Mediterranean flair.
Under Grain is not just a restaurant; it’s a dining experience that transcends expectations. From the moment you step in, it’s clear that this is a place where every detail is thoughtfully curated, blending exceptional cuisine with impeccable service. The food at Under Grain is nothing short of superb. Each dish in the tasting menu is a work of art, showcasing innovative flavors and flawless presentation. The balance of textures and flavors is truly remarkable, making every bite an adventure for the palate. What sets Under Grain apart, however, is its staff. They are as integral to the experience as the food itself, providing attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm service. Be prepared for a leisurely meal, as the tasting menu took us approximately 4.5 hours to complete. This was a stunning experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive, but never too much- they created a friendly and cozy environment throughout the whole dinner. I loved the explanation of the dishes- very well detailed and clear. Wine was great and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. The food was incredible- such different flavours to what you expect and usually eat. I loved the combination of ingredients that I never thought could go together. Chef Victor is a genius and you can taste his passion for food in his dishes. Thank you for a wonderful evening- Lia and Jenni

This was an exquisite dining experience! Where shall I start? We were shown to our private room with a simple decor but elegant. The waiting staff was professional and courteous throughout the evening. We had the tasting menu which consists of 5 courses and many 'surprises' by Chef Victor. Each course is a unique display of artistry with an explosion of flavours. Each of the courses is not just served... The servers set up the table with props so that you can experience something truly original... Then you try the food and you're in heaven. The restaurant offers a great wine list and expert connoisseur to suggest best wine options. The experience lasts for roughly 4 hours however, the ambience is just perfect and time flies by. A wonderful experience indeed... Well done Chef Victor and all the Under Grain Team!

What can I say? Welcomed by the big man Chef Victor himself (busy in the kitchen). Atmosphere is beautiful, service super attentive and nice and food amazing. To be honest I've been to another 4 Michelin star restaurants 2 local and 2 abroad, this is definitely the best one. The service was extremely attentive, simple things, even how they present, decant and serve the wine absolutely amazing. Food all was over the top, only the petit fours were not out of this world but the rest of the food was absolutely amazing. With regards to reviews of people complaining about the time in between courses, I can truly say only between one course I thought It dragged a little long, but having said that restaurant was full and amazing food takes time to make Finally, regarding Chef Victor he was very warm to us and to finish it off they also have us a small chocolate and a signed menu as a parting gift. Well done to everyone who works there, experience was one of a kind

Best michelin star restaurant I have ever been to. The quality and taste of food, the presentation, the service, the timing - everything was just perfect and left me with awe. Even though I had only opted for the two course meal, I felt very full and satisfied by the end of my experience. The entire dinner lasted 3 hours, just like they said. If you decide to dine with Under Grain, allot for extra time, as they take care in enjoying the food and the presence of others. At the end of our dinner, we even got to say our thanks to the chef! I enjoyed just about everything that was served. The rabbit dish as well as the indoor picnic were quite delicious and memorable. We were first led to a lobby to wait before heading down. Be careful, there are two restaurants with similar names: Over Grain and Under Grain. We almost walked into the wrong restaurant! You must book ahead.

After spending €440 on a tasting menu for 2, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect first class, award winning, competition beating, blow your socks off food. IT WASN'T 😪!. After a polite welcome and being up sold some fizz, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the first "snacks" to arrive. The entire evening took 4.5hrs!! Way too long and way too slow. We were actually bored by the end and couldn't wait to get out of there. The food was ok at best. It lacked flair, flavour, and the presentation was no better than a gastro pub. The service, albeit polite and slick, was far from friendly and welcoming. It felt wooden and scripted. I would sadly not recommend this restaurant.
David P — Google review
We greatly enjoyed the experience at Under Grain. The food was great. The staff provided a great service, without interrupting what felt like a really private and romantic experience. A special thank you to Omar who made us very comfortable throughout our 3.5 hrs meal. A minor negative is what felt like "upsell" moments during the course of the meal. This took away a bit from the experience, and I'd rather know the total cost upfront. The total ended up around 340 euro for 2 people.

My dining experience at Under grain was beautiful! The food were incredibly delicious. The service was top notch. It truly deserves its Michelin star. I also absolutely adored the random little surprises from the chef. I could not have chosen a better place for dinner. Truly wonderful, would definitely visit again.

Situated next to the hotel's pool, guests can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Valletta's skyline during the day and night while savoring lunch, dinner, or afternoon cocktails.
When we booked the private dining experience, we did not expect the incredible setting, service and food and drink quality that we enjoyed. I would highly recommend this experience for any couple, or even a night out with some good friends. The cost of the experience, aligned with the quality of it. Worth every penny. Our server, Raj, was incredible and made our evening that much better.

This charming spot boasts modern decor and offers a semi-buffet style breakfast that features an array of homemade treats like fresh pastries, Maltese bread, and delectable cakes paired with jams and refreshing beverages. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the degustation menu which had a very fair price. I had the feeling the chef didn't reach his full potential yet and a few dishes could have some small changes or additions to reach a complete culinair orgasme. The presentation was impeccable though.

🌟 Risette: A Cozy Culinary Gem in Valletta Tucked within the elegant Casa Ellul in the heart of Valletta, Risette is a fine dining experience that feels both refined and warmly intimate. Where the soul savors and time stands still. Rarely is the palate moved to such emotion, but in this culinary sanctuary, every bite is an echo of wonder. To visit Malta and not surrender to dining in this place would be a lament that would haunt the soul through the years. From the first welcoming gesture, the majestic architecture embracing the space, the delicacy in every service detail, the exquisite curation of the cellar, and the symphony of dishes... here, everything is orchestrated with a precision that borders on the sublime. The pairing is an ancestral dance, a perfect ballet where each step merges wine with culinary creation, unleashing an explosion of the senses. Textures, ethereal and bold, alongside flavors from distant constellations, transport the spirit to unknown spheres. Sabrina, the head sommelier, weaves with her words a tapestry of knowledge, unveiling the hidden essence of each dish and, of course, the liquid history of the wines that dance in perfect harmony with them. It is a revelation, a masterclass that elevates dining to the category of art.

What an extraordinary culinary experience ! We took the degustation menu and had no regrets. The wine pairing was delicious and worth it. We discovered excellent new wines that were paired intelligently with each plate. The waiters and sommelier were friendly and helpful. One advice : the focaccia bread is sooo good !!! Try to keep some room for the rest of the meal!!!!

AKI is a stylish Japanese restaurant and lounge bar located in the heart of Valletta, Malta. It offers a contemporary dining experience with a focus on Japanese snacks, sushi, and specialties in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant has been recognized by the Michelin Guide Malta 2022, showcasing its commitment to quality and innovation in its cuisine. With signature Japanese-inspired dishes prepared with care and modern palates in mind, AKI provides an ideal setting for enjoying an evening out.
AKI Malta delivered an incredible dining experience. The atmosphere and overall vibe were amazing, stylish, modern, and lively. I especially enjoyed the live DJ playing during my visit, which added a great energy to the night. The staff uniforms were sleek and elegant, giving a classy touch and setting the tone for a special evening. The food was top-notch. The salmon, in particular, was cooked to perfection. They also offer a wide variety of unique and creative cocktails. One that stood out was the "Sushi Cocktail", truly remarkable and unlike anything I’ve tried before. Would definitely visit again if I get the chance. Highly recommended!

We had a great evening at AKI, amazing Sushi, great desserts and wonderful atmosphere! We booked a table a few months out, having read reviews and having seen on a TV program. We weren’t disappointed, we have Sushi 3 different types including Harumaki of Salmon, Flamed Wagyu Roll & Carb Fotumaki Roll. All were excellent with our favourite being the Harumaki of Salmon. We also had a dessert each with Genmai Cha Creme Brulee fro my wife and Japanese Chocolate Forest Floor for myself. The whole experience was amazing, and a very reasonably priced at under 90€ for 2 persons including wine, Saki & water. We would definitely recommend, and will return plus we will probably try the new AKI London when we are next in London!

This place has firmly earned its place as one of our all-time favourite sushi spots anywhere in the world. We first came here last year and couldn’t resist returning this year again and honestly, it was even better than we remembered. This time, our waiter Ashanka guided us toward two of his personal favourite dishes, and he absolutely nailed it. The standout of the night was the fried rice with wagyu tartare and truffle. Perfectly balanced, one of those dishes you keep thinking about. Between the quality of the food, the warm service, and the overall atmosphere, Aki continues to be a must-visit for us. Already looking forward to the next time we’re back in Malta.

I had an amazing experience at Aki on 09/05/2025! We had to push back our reservation time many times due to our transportation not knowing where the restraunt was located in Valletta but the booking personnel was very understanding and kind. We were greeted by a lovely woman at the entrance who showed us to our seats. They had a beautiful bar and dining area, which provided a wonderful ambience. Although the dining area was dark, it provided an fantastic vibe that was Instagram worthy! The restraunt and food on a whole show cased a Japanese inspired fine dining experience. Once seated we were then served by a fabulous waiter/host called Asanka. He was very professional, funny and kind. He was also very patient with us when he explained and described the different food and drinks on the menu. I dined with my sister and a friend and we can all agree that Asanka made our experience at Aki a night to remember! The food was out of this world and the drinks were divine. Unfortunately, I dont remember the names of dishes we ate (photos below). But, if I ever return to Malta and dine at Aki again, I hope Asanka will be there to provide another 10/10 experience.
Azana D — Google review
We were really looking forward to dining at Aki, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to expectations. Ambience: The setting felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant — loud music, dim lighting, and an atmosphere that made conversation almost impossible. We could barely hear each other to order, let alone enjoy a relaxed meal. The first table offered was uncomfortably close to a wall; we asked to move, and later noticed several other couples declined that same spot as well. Drinks: • Sushi Cocktail – Visually interesting but only average in taste. The garnish of seaweed dots looked artistic but didn’t add much flavor. The creamy top was too thick, and the liquid base too thin and bland, making the overall balance off. Starters: • Bluefin Tuna Tartare (€14.90) – Nicely presented with kimchi pearls and nori wafers, but the flavors didn’t quite come together as the lea shoots overpowered the taste of the tuna which was unfortunate! Pleasant but forgettable. • Sakura Blossom Noboshi Prawn Tempura (€11.90) – Beautifully plated and vibrant red prawns with daikon and ginger oroshi. The prawns were large and well-cooked, but the dish was more “good” than “great.” Sushi: • Volcano Sushi (€13.90) – The prawn tempura filling was tasty, but the presentation was odd. The rolls were cut and stacked sideways with sauce drizzled over, which caused some pieces to stick together. Again, decent but not remarkable. • Flamed Wagyu (€14.90) – Disappointing. The wagyu flavor was barely noticeable, and the dish lacked the richness we expected from the description. Main: • Prawn Gohan (€15.50) – The highlight of the meal. The rice was flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the prawns were juicy and well-cooked. Service: Service was polite but inconsistent — staff were friendly when available, but it was sometimes difficult to get their attention. Overall: While a few dishes showed promise, the overpowering music and nightclub-style atmosphere made it a poor choice for anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxed dinner and conversation. Aki might work as a trendy spot for drinks or a quick bite, but it’s not ideal for a comfortable dining experience.

It was a delight. Chefs take pride in what they serve, waiters attention is excellent, the overall vibe is great. Rishabh was great, I really appreciated his mannerism. As we had ordered the tasting menu we had a lot of dishes, each distinct, with unique flavours, and just quality ingredients. He never rushed us, on the contrary, he asked if he should wait a bit for the next dish, which we really did. He understands his customers. Definitely recommend Aki! And try their wild cocktails too!
Robert M — Google review
My expectations were probably too high 😊 For starters, I tried bao buns, they were excellent.👏👏 The next dish was rice vegetable, nothing special, at times I found the dish very dry. I refused the rice with wagyu, because the pieces of meat, not all of them, were tough, I doubt it was wagyu meat.😢 Maki nigiri, tuna excellent,😍 rice excellent,😍 salmon not the right temperature. In order to give a true rating, I would have to try something else from their menu. 😊
Pika J — Google review
Food: some are a hit, some are a miss. Here are some recommendations from what Ive had: tuna tartare, tuna sashimi, salmon sashimi, foie gras sashimi, creme brulee. These were OK, but nothing more: wagyu sashimi, oysters, rock shrimp tempura. The big miss: chicken tacos. How disappointing! So extremely bland! Overall food rating: 7/10. Some things were nice, some were OK, some were bad. At an upscale Michelin recommended restaurant there should not be anything on the menu that is less than good! Especially for the prices of some of the dishes. Service: Our waiter was very kind, refilled our glasses without being prompted, generally a smiley dude. After asking how the food was and telling him that the taco was very disappointing, he offered us a free creme brulee on the house. He singlehandedly made our dining experience so much better! Shout out to Amara. However, not all positives in the "service" section. Service was generally a bit slow, but to be expected with a full house. Overall service rating: 9/10. Amara is a cool guy who just wants to help where he can. It is not his fault some of the food was mediocre. Atmosphere: considering the style and vibe of this restaurant (which is very nice), I would say this is an upscale dining place where you expect to see people in nothing less than a nice shirt - so why does it feel like a club? Music is blasting, having to shout at the table to hear each other. The tables are very close together to fit more guests, so neighbouring conversations can be heard, which contributes to the need for shouting across the table so your dining partner will hear you. Atmosphere overall rating: 5/10. Looks like a nice restaurant, but it is way too crowded and the DJ blasting club music is just unnecessary and offputting. Overall restaurant rating: I would love to give this place 4/5 as I tried so hard to love it, but too many items on the menu that I have tried are just not "amazing". And for these prices, it SHOULD be amazing. The service, especially our waiter Amara was the highlight of the night. I feel very harsh giving it 3/5, but there are many things that could be improved on. See below. How to improve: - chefs, please taste your food. If it is less than "good", do not serve it. - turn down the music! Maybe play some softer songs that actually fit the style and vibe of the place. - get rid of some tables to create space. Less tables = more exclusivity, more control over the food being served, as there will be less load in the kitchen, therefore more happy customers. You are a michelin guide recommended restaurant, so act like it.

Ta' Kris is a traditional restaurant located in a charming old bakery, featuring dark wood and patterned tiles that create a warm and rustic atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of regional dishes, including hearty options like rabbit stew, bragioli (beef olives), and lampuki pie (fish pie). Run by chef proprietor Chris, the restaurant retains the traditional colorful tile-work from the old bakery, adding to its authentic decor.
The restaurant is located in a charming spot with very friendly staff. The portions are huge the salad starter was really generous and delicious. Everything was tasty! The Maltese Spritzer is one of the best drinks I’ve had, and the seafood was perfectly cooked.

This restaurant is one of the few places around offering local dishes, so it was a real shame that one of their main specialties was sold out for the night. The rest of the food was good — nothing particularly impressive, but definitely tasty and enjoyable. The staff were attentive and polite, which made the experience smoother and pleasant. However, the terrace lacks a sense of privacy. Since many people pass by, it doesn’t feel as relaxed or intimate as it could be. Overall, a decent spot with tasty food and good service, but it could really shine if they ensured their signature local dishes were always available and improved the terrace experience.

A very popular place and it is clear why! The food tasted delicious and homemade, so this would be the perfect spot to try out authentic Maltese food. The service was however quite slow and a bit messy, we were always approached by someone new and sometimes it took quite a while to be noticed when you needed help. It's recommended to reserve a table but outside seems best, inside got pretty loud.

This is one of the few good Maltese restaurants here in Sliema. The service is very good and fast. I enjoyed how attentive they were. You get a tasty appetizer with bread. The food is fine. I had the octopus as a starter and it was delicious! The pasta with rabbit was fine but nothing out of this world. The taste of the rabbit is not that present. So arriving here with high expectatives I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t as mind blowing as I expected. Would give it a second chance though!

Was told we had to come here for Maltese food. Silema is very congested. We had the brajoli, the rabbit spaghetti and the Maltese salad. The brajoli is braised brisket, stuffed with mincemeat. Very good flavor! The spaghetti was bland and not very good. The salad was probably the best part of the meal. If you are staying in Silema, stop on by, but don’t make a special trip for the food.

This was recommended to us by the receptionist at our hotel and it didn’t disappoint. We turned up at the restaurant with no reservation but were given a table straight away. Once we’d ordered they brought out bread and crackers with some Bigilla as a dip. The bread was still warm and the Bigilla really garlicky and tasty. With a bit of research we’d learnt that portions in Maltese restaurants are generous so we just ordered mains. We both ordered the rabbit as this was our first meal in Malta and we wanted to try the national dish. It was a very generous, hearty dish full of flavour and the slow cooking meant the meat was tender and fell off the bone. Although we’d got a table straight away, the restaurant was busy and you could see the staff was doing its best to keep up. That said, they all remained friendly throughout.

Not sure if they had an off night, or some of the previous reviewers have taste buds that stem from a council estate. Food was average at best. Had the snails, rib-eye and rabbit. None of it was great. Service was slow and got our drinks wrong twice. When to the bar to make sure the third time would be right, and was told they only do table service. Even though it seems they're the only traditional Maltese cuisine in Silema, there are better alternatives.

Another great restaurant we ate at in Malta. This was recommended to us from a local and it was great advice. We didn not book and had to wait for a table. It was not a long wait as two couples in front of us decided to leave the queue. From experience gained over the last couple of days, we ordered one main each. As we guessed, the servings were very generous to the point we did not order dessert. My wife ordered Lampuki (dolphin fish, dorado, mahi mahi) which was a whole fish perfectly cooked. I ordered Majjal il-Forn, oven braised pork with vegetables. It was fall apart tender, very tasty and very filling. The potatoes perfectly mopping up the remaining gravy. We had a bottle of Maltese Merlot, which drank really well with the meal. The service was great. This is a busy restaurant and the maitre-d rarely stopped moving, yet he was friendly and funny and happy to offer advice. We had a great experience and only wish we could have ordered more food.

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Zero Sei Trattoria Romana is a charming Italian eatery located in the heart of Valletta, offering a relaxed atmosphere and authentic Roman cuisine. The restaurant is known for its classic dishes such as carbonara and cacio e pepe, prepared using traditional recipes passed down through generations. While it's beloved for its delicious food, it's important to note that they may not be suitable for those with severe gluten intolerance due to potential cross-contamination in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, our time in Malta came to an end, but we couldn’t leave without enjoying one last Italian lunch. We chose Zero Sei in Valletta, and it was an excellent choice. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere felt authentic and welcoming. We ordered a lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, and tiramisu — everything tasted amazing, perfectly prepared with rich Italian flavors. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Valletta. Check my pictures for a glimpse of the experience!

It's quaint (if unassuming) from the outside, but folks, my God, that Carbonara...! You need to add truffle slices to it (it's not frowned upon, it's actually encouraged) for it to really pop. The lasagne (our other dish) was almost as good, with a very distinct tomato flavour. The true award must go to the Tiramisu (with pistachio) though - it's not just great, it is insane (almost unbelievably so)...! I will return to Malta to experience this again. Listen, ChatGPT will give you recommendations aplenty in Valletta, but we just happened upon this place and decided to give it a go. It's right up there with Italian greats!
Andreas K — Google review
If you love pasta and tiramisu like we do then this is the place for you. The food was so good we went back a second time and found that the first visit wasn't a one off - we had the exact same order and if anything it was slightly better second time (I got a bit more crumbled Italian sausage in my Luisa pasta). If we could go tonight for dinner we would. The staff were efficient and helpful and also very personable despite being rushed off their feet continuously both nights we were there. For 2 people we have a pasta dish, tiramisu (there is a traditional and a pistachio option - both are off the charts fantastic) and glass of wine each, and shared a salad, and it came to 70 euros. One of the best meals I have ever had.

Incredible food and great service. Started with the parmigiana and the grilled cheese with pears. Amazing authentic flavours cooked to perfection. Followed with the Carbonara and Rigatoni, Carbonara was definitely as advertised as the best in Malta, the Rigatoni was slightly under seasoned for my own taste but this is purely personal preference and in no way a reflection of the incredibly talented kitchen team. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Malta to visit this must-see gem of a place!!!
Dann B — Google review
This place definitely lives up to the hype! We really enjoyed our pasta (I got the lasagna and my partner got the caccio e Pepe) and the portions were very generous. I also had the panna cotta for dessert which was alright (maybe go for the tiramisu instead).
Marianthi M — Google review
We were recommended to try this place and had high hopes with all the glowing reviews. However we found the food mediocre. The cheese and pear starter didn’t have much flavour. The pasta came out lukewarm and underwhelming in flavour. They were clearly very busy which made the service very chaotic. I could see plates of food waiting inside to be delivered to the tables which explains the cold food. We didn’t bother with dessert as no one came to serve us so we walked inside to get the bill and pay. Maybe they had a bad day or maybe we expected better but we won’t be going back to try it again!

If you want to try the best carbonara of this island, you need to go to Zero Sei. It was one of the best dishes that I ate in Malta during my trip to the old continent. The staff is really good and there are a lot of options on the menu, but I couldn't resist the carbonara. And it was worth it.

Everything was delicious. The panna cotta with caramel was incredible. The flavor was rich and complex. Service was polite and we did not feel rushed. We chose to eat outside and enjoyed the weather.

Palazzo Preca Restaurant is a family-owned Mediterranean eatery located in an elegant venue. The restaurant offers a selection of gourmet dishes, including European, Italian, and vegetarian options. With its relaxed yet chic ambiance, Palazzo Preca is known for serving hearty local dishes. The restaurant's quaintly rustic interior design adds to the dining experience, making it a popular choice for families and those seeking fine dining with a unique Mediterranean flair.
Dining at Palazzo Preca was an absolute delight from start to finish. The restaurant combines a warm, elegant atmosphere with impeccable service, making the whole experience feel special and memorable. The food was simply outstanding. The spaghetti carbonara was creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced authentic and made with high quality ingredients that elevated this classic dish. The beef Fillet a la Ramona was wow , served tender over smooth mashed potatoes with a rich sauce, was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The side dishes, from the crispy golden potatoes to the fresh seasonal vegetables, complemented the mains beautifully. What really stood out was the attention to detail every plate was not only delicious but beautifully presented, showing the care and passion that goes into the cooking. If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Valletta, Palazzo Preca is a must. Exceptional food, attentive service, and a truly charming setting make it one of the city’s best restaurants. Highly recommended!

Had the best experience here on a trip to Valletta. The staff were so welcoming & super helpful when deciding what to eat. They brought out the fresh fish to show us what we would be eating which was a nice touch! The restaurant itself is beautiful & full of character. The food was incredible & very reasonably priced! The seafood platter (one of the specials on offer) was the highlight for me, everything was full of flavour & cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area!

The service in Palazzo Preca deserves 6 stars. I was well looked after and advised about portion size etc. I loved the wild mushroom soup. The seafood risotto was salty and when I was asked whether it was ok, gave an honest comment. Straight away the dish was whisked off and replaced later with something less salty. The lemon meringue tart was lovely.

This was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had. The staff were outstanding—special thanks to Orhan for his exceptional service. The food quality is first-class: fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. Their daily fresh seafood is a must-have on the table. It was also a thoughtful gesture to bring us their special olive oil, which made the experience even more memorable.

Casa Sotto is a top choice for pizza lovers in Valletta, located near St Georges Square. This pizzeria offers a fantastic selection of Romana pizzas, known for their unique cooking style and delicious flavors. From traditional options like funghi and diavola to more adventurous choices such as white or gourmet pizzas, Casa Sotto has something for everyone.
The food was delicious! Perfect pizza and suppli. Very friendly Italian vibe and very kind waitress Francesca. It was our best pizza we ate in Malta. We will come back here for sure! :)
Alaniasty W — Google review
Pizzas were great, I would say even excellent (Margherita and Diavola). House wine was good as well. Free WiFi provided, service is prompt. Portions aren't large thus expect that one pizza is suitable for one person. The annoying thing is that the waiter is asking to choose tips percentage (5-25%) on the terminal upon payment by card. I'm always leaving a tip in the restaurants with a good service and tasty food, but the forced demand for the tip always ends with minus one star. This is why my rating is only four instead of five stars.
Andrius S — Google review
Everything was fantastic. The staff was all lovely. And the food! The pinse crust is my favorite and the topping combinations were perfect. I tried the Sotto. Highly recommended! My friend had the Parmigiana. It was just as good. I couldn’t not mention the pecorino melted and topped with honey and pistachios. The sangria was also the best we had in Malta. I’ll be craving a return to Sotto until my next visit to Malta.

We found Casa Sotto as the chance to eat a good pizza and actually it was one of the best pizzas we ate in our life. So tasty, crunchy and even when it cools down a little, stays perfect. Very cosy restaurant, great and nice staff. Service is fast. Great value for money. I would return if I had more days in Valletta. Could not recommend more!

We came as a family to try the six-course tasting menu and had a wonderful evening! The service was impeccable and highly professional. To be honest i expected more. The main courses weren't anything spectacular but the starters were great though. Definitely recommend the black calamari. Tried octopus for main but was something like a mixture of homemade soup and octopus 🤔👎. Desserts were good. Service is perfect with friendly staff. Atmosphere is great.

We had the 8 course experience menu, it was delicious. The cocktails were also really good (this is not easy nowadays to find good cocktails). We highly recommend this restaurant with a nice view on the bay. Products were fresh and very tasty !
India C — Google review
We had the 7-course tasting menu for dinner. Service started off quite slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy, but it did improve as the meal went on. The food was good overall, though some dishes didn’t feel as refined as we expected for a fine dining experience. We’d suggest updating the menu—especially removing the feta cheese pastries—and working on service consistency and staff management. Very big portions though!
Khrystyna T — Google review
Not sure if the plating or the view was more gorgeous! We did the 8-course tasting menu with wine pairing, and it was absolutely fantastic. Every dish looked amazing and tasted even better, and the wine pairings were spot on. It was a long dinner, but in the best way — we never felt rushed, and the food was filling and satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive (they also gave us great recommendations for other activities in Malta), and the whole evening felt really special! Can’t recommend Sole by Tarragon enough!

Nestled within the historic bastions of Valletta, Rampila Restaurant offers a unique dining experience that seamlessly blends history and luxury. Guests can choose to dine in a high-end restaurant or on the beautiful terrace, originally built by the Knights of St John and overlooking the city gate. The terrace, once a military tunnel and gun emplacement, now provides a peaceful setting for enjoying high-end cuisine or savoring a glass of wine.
This is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere is charming — a hidden gem tucked within the fortified city walls. The staff are warm, friendly, and attentive, always welcoming guests with a smile. A friend and I visited twice during our stay — we had lunch first, and it was so good that we decided to return for dinner. Every dish was beautifully balanced, bringing out the natural flavours of the ingredients while enhancing them with thoughtful use of herbs and spices. The grilled octopus, in particular, was exceptional — so good we ordered it both times. This place is a must-visit in Valletta. Highly recommended!

✨ An unforgettable evening in the heart of Valletta ✨ Dining at Rampila is an experience that beautifully blends history, flavor, and charm. Set within the ancient stone passages of Valletta’s fortifications, the restaurant captivates with its warm atmosphere and timeless character. 🕯️🍷 The most fascinating part? These vaulted chambers date back to the 16th century, built by the Knights of St. John as part of the city’s original defenses, designed by Francesco Laparelli, a disciple of Michelangelo. Having dinner here means quite literally dining inside history. ⚔️🏰 The dishes were simply outstanding: 🐟 Perfectly seared salmon with a citrus touch and fresh seaweed. 🥩 Tender slow-cooked beef, rich in flavor and beautifully balanced. 🍷 Paired with a glass of Marsovin Cheval Franc, a refined Maltese wine full of character. Every detail turns the evening into a celebration of modern Mediterranean cuisine in a setting that breathes centuries of heritage. 🇲🇹

We were lucky to get table even we didn't make reservations. (Reservation recommended) One of the best restaurants in our trip (we stayed 2 weeks) Beautiful place. Perfect food and really good service. Rabbit stew was so nice. Calamari was really good. Pork cheeck fritter also yummy. Dessert was fine. Thank you for a nice time!
Onsiri N — Google review
Rampila sits inside Valletta’s historic bastion walls with a vaulted dining room and a terrace built along the ramparts. The setting is special and worth seeing. Food leans Maltese + Mediterranean with dishes like rabbit and the house crab and lobster ravioli in prawn bisque. Execution on our visit was fine but nothing felt particularly inventive and the quality to price ratio was weak for what arrived at the table. Service was friendly and the atmosphere unique, yet for the cost I expected clearer flavors and more ambition on the plate. For me it is a place to visit for the location rather than for standout cooking.

We had dinner at your restaurant yesterday and just wanted to say thank you for the amazing experience. I’d come here again. Everything was perfect. They don’t have many Maltese options. The steak was so good, pistachio cake was awesome. However the service was kind of slow. We finished our appetizers before the bottle of wine came. It seemed like they can’t keep up with the crowd.

Atmosphere: Located in the center of Valletta with a beautiful outdoor area right in the popular and lively city center, this restaurant offers a pleasant, peaceful atmosphere where you can relax, thanks to its elegant interior design and the old sandstone buildings outside. Service: Very friendly, high-quality, and attentive service from the nice, attentive staff who leave nothing to be desired. Food: I have rarely eaten such good beef tartare, and our main course was also excellent. Prepared to perfection, beautifully presented, and perfect in taste. Value for money: The food seems very expensive, but considering that you now pay up to EUR 20 for a pizza and the impeccable quality and the star rating that this restaurant has had for more than 5 years, the prices are absolutely justified – especially given the high quality on offer. Conclusion: Malta offers a variety of restaurants in the Michelin Guide, and a visit to these — especially here at 59 Republic — is definitely highly recommended! Thank you for making our holiday-roundup on our last evening here perfect Our next vacation is already booked, and we will definitely enjoy another perfect culinary evening here.

Pleasantly surprised. Very nice athmoshere oppposite Grandmasters Palace. Very attentative service. Good menu with good choices. Food well executed. Mains were very good. Beef Wellington very good. Fish filet very good. For a change a chef that is a real chef with propery training. Only regarding desserts room for improvement. This is just for the kitchen so they can improve: frozen joghurt was not frozen at all. brownie was texture too fudgy. This is going to be my new local eatery in Malta from now on. We used to go to Phoenicia hotel which is simar price level. But their quality has gone down beyond believe. Another case where I do not understand google ratings. This should have solid 5 stars. Whilst other places with 5 stars should not have them.

The starters set the tone: duck croquettes and cod tacos were packed with flavour and perfectly cooked—crispy shells, rich fillings, and thoughtful seasoning. Every bite felt crafted with care. We ended on a high note with cocktails: a silky espresso martini and an After Eight martini that’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had—balanced, smooth, and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and attentive without hovering, and the relaxed atmosphere made it all the more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking inventive small plates and top-tier drinks. The manager and waiter I believe to be “Osai and Zetti” were very caring!!

Dimitri Valletta is a charming boutique restaurant that resides in a historic 450-year-old building, just a short stroll from the iconic Auberge de Castille. This delightful eatery offers diners an exquisite culinary adventure, showcasing flavors from Malta, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The menu is thoughtfully updated with each season to highlight fresh ingredients and surprise guests with innovative dishes.
On arrival we were greeted by the chef Dimitri. It was a personal dining experience which was nice. We attended for a weekday lunch so there was only one other patron; so it was quiet and relaxing. We ordered Octopus Squid Ink pasta, local fried rabbit, and profiteroles filled with blast frozen ricotta. All delicious. The wine was light on the palate and matched well with the chosen foods.

This tiny eatery at the top of St Paul’s Street in Valletta could be so much more. Unfortunately it looks like it’s small size gas not managed to overcome the costs of doing business and it has fallen on hard times. The very limited wine list and excessive pricing (6 times the retail price for a Doppio Passo Primitivo) seems to point in that direction. Nevertheless the chef patron was engaging and spent some time with us, considering the only other server seemed to lack the finesse needed for the prices we were charged. A case in point to mention is that the cost of what we had was comparable to higher class restaurants serving better food, greater choice, with better service and a more memorable experience. All this was short or completely lacking on the night we were there.

The food was plain and tasteless, especially the chicken and the veal. There were no spices or herbs used on the chicken, the veggies or the potato mash... The 25eur veal tasted like a plain schnitzel. We finished our meals only because we were hungry & tired. Our waiter kept repeating that he is very satisfied that we liked the food. This was a statement we never made ourselves and we finally had to reply that it's not exactly the case. Then the waiter returned with the chef and they made the point that we should have returned the dishes when we didn't like them instead of finishing them - not a great solution when you are hungry and tired. Also, I was not looking forward to choose another dish or to give a recipe to the chef on how to improve the taste. The service overall was poor for the quality of the restaurant they want to maintain. There were multiple issues, the most interesting one was that the waiter left the bottle of wine on the table and expected us to open it. Of course we then asked him to do that himself, which he did. They gave us a chocolate tart on the house to compensate for the experience with the main dishes. We appreciated the gesture, hence this is a 2* review instead of 1*. But anyone considering a visit should be warned.

After todays walking we wanted dinner to be close. And ideally away from the madding crowd. This restaurant did not disappint. Put aside the fact that we were the only two patrons, it was an event to savour. Never before have we had this experience. Seated on a street away, but close to the restaurant. Served by an elder gentleman called Patrick who was happy to chat and answer our questions - about anything really. Later Dimitri the chef came and had a chat too and as we paid our bill, we were able to chat to his kids - and tell them to go to bed!! Dad’ll be home soon.

We visited Dimitri on Friday 9/8 for a late lunch (around 1:30 pm) and had THE BEST experience with Chef Dimitri. I ordered the trio mushroom pasta and Chef Dimitri recommended the chicken and chorizo pasta for my son. Since my son does not eat pork, Chef said he would make it without the chorizo. Let me tell you...BEST pasta we've ever had !! The pasta is made fresh and you can tell. All the ingredients used tasted fresh and went so well with the red wine suggested by the chef. I'm so glad good this delicious redirecting and HIGHLY recommend visiting Chef Dimitri!

Fabulous food and fantastic Dimitri! We had the Maltese fish soup, octopus stew, rabbit and the lobster pasta accompanied by a bottle of very good local Chardonnay. Everything was delicious and Dimitri made us feel like we were his close friends rather than guests. This is definetly the place to eat while in Valletta! And the homemade bread was to die for!

Mediterranean restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Valletta, La Sfoglia is a delightful culinary gem that specializes in fresh seafood, offering an authentic taste of the local catch. The menu may be compact, but it features exquisite dishes like calamari and prawn pasta that leave diners satisfied. Guests rave about the simplicity of their cooking style, which allows the natural flavors of fish and shellfish to shine through without overwhelming them with heavy sauces.
🌟 La Sfoglia – A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Valletta 🇲🇹🍴 Tucked away in one of the quiet corners of Malta’s capital, La Sfoglia is a true gem — surrounded by traditional Maltese houses and full of local charm. The atmosphere is calm and intimate, perfect for a relaxing meal away from the crowds. From the moment we arrived, the owners and staff made us feel right at home — always attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Their service comes with a smile, and their passion for what they do really shows. Now the food… absolutely amazing. A beautiful balance of traditional Maltese flavours blended with a Mediterranean twist — every dish was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re a local or visiting Malta, I highly recommend La Sfoglia for an unforgettable dining experience in Valletta. You’ll leave full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit!🍷✨

We had a great lunch here. The fish was amazing. We also tried the traditional Maltese rabbit, which was also really tasty. The bread we have got was dry and rock hard. The restaurants toilet is downstairs, and the heat down there is horrible.

Amazing place in the heart of Valetta. Excellent service and choice of seafood. Fresh catch is on display and you choose your fish, lobster or whatever creatures you want to cook next to your pasta. Nice atmosphere and even though you are sitting outside - you don’t feel like you are on the street.
STEVEN V — Google review
While strolling around Valletta with my girlfriend, we decided to stop for dinner. After checking a few places on Google, we gave La Sfoglia a chance. We booked on the spot and, even though they told us to wait 30 minutes, they managed to split a table for four and seat us after half an hour – a nice touch I really appreciated. At first, I was afraid it might be a typical tourist trap, given the central location, but by the end of the meal I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were polite and, despite the restaurant being very busy, service was fast and smooth. We started with fried calamari – perfectly light and not oily – and a burrata salad (a bit unusual alongside seafood, but we wanted to try it). We also had mussels: not the best I’ve had, but at least fresh. For the main course we both ordered lobster pasta. It was excellent: cooked al dente, with a delicious bisque full of flavor, no heavy cream – just simple and well done. The restaurant sits on one of Valletta’s busiest streets, surrounded by crowds, and could easily have fallen into the “tourist trap” category. Instead, La Sfoglia delivers good quality food, quick service, and an unpretentious atmosphere. Exactly what you need on a summer evening in Malta.

Fantastic restaurant with amazing food, always fresh and served with lots of imagination and enthusiasm from the two brothers that own it. Great hospitality, always made to feel very welcome and located in the centre of Valletta. My favourite restaurant in Valletta.

I visited this restaurant on 9/3/2025 and unfortunately I found hair in the chicken dish as well as hair in the cheesecake dish. When I spoke to the manager, he shouted and said I will remove it and this is not a problem. Note that he did not apologize or speak in a polite manner. Also, the chicken dish for children was priced differently from the menu. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not good to visit.

Sea food pasta was very good but no on menu. We had to ask for it and that was strange. Maltese rabbit stew was a mistake. Dry, gumme, tasteless. Fish of the day were huge and overpriced. Not good for 2 persons.

This hidden gem offers an inviting atmosphere with its stone walls and open kitchen, making it perfect for a romantic dinner or a casual meal. The menu showcases delightful Italian cuisine alongside traditional Maltese dishes, featuring local favorites like rabbit and sea bass.
Hands down some of the best food and pasta I’ve ever eaten. Small Italian restaurant atmosphere with an experienced and talented kitchen. HIGHLY recommend ordering the lobster and pasta which is their signature dish. You will not be disappointed.

Great restaurant in Valletta! One of the best meals I've had in Malta! The restaurant was very accommodating, it was a busy Friday evening and we called just couple of hours in advance hoping there would be a table, and the staff really tried and find us a slot for our required time. I like how the restaurant will bring and show you all their fresh seafood of the day and you know exactly what you're getting. We sat just next to the kitchen so it was added bonus seeing our food being cooked. I had the fish of the day with pasta and it was brilliant! The fish was really fresh and the pasta was cooked to perfection! Restaurant atmosphere was really nice and I like the stone walls feel. High quality restaurant and highly recommended!

Small menu, big on flavour. Everything was delicious. This restaurant was recommended to us by a local. Thank goodness we booked as walk-ins were being turned away even at 6:15pm. The food was first class. Tables downstairs have a view of the chef (also the owner) who is clearly passionate about food. Not to be missed.

Great vibe, the place is rather small, so be sure to book in advance. We had to come back on the next day, as they were fully booked on the initial try. The food was tasty, the service was very nice. Calamari was a bit too chewy for us, the fish was great, the rabbit was ok 😉

We walked by and were stopped in our tracks by the aroma pouring out! We read the menu and could not go past. Understand—we were NOT looking for food! 😂. But we could not resist. Opening the door was a lovely surprise! It is a quaint little restaurant with a few tables on street level and a few down the stairs in this beautiful arched dining room. I had the best pasta of our trip—better than any we had in Rome. And the fish, which was chosen from a platter of today’s catches, was perfectly prepared. Even the vegetables on the side were notably delicious. What a fortuitous find!! Thank you to our great and professional server and the chefs! You will love it!

Bar
PRECA@King's Own Band Club Bar And Restaurant is a dining spot located in Valletta, Malta. It offers traditional Maltese cuisine and is situated on Republic Street. The restaurant has a rich history, having received Royal consent in 1901 and was originally a band club. Despite limited vegetarian options, it comes recommended by locals for its fantastic dishes like spaghetti served in a giant Parmesan cheese wheel. The ambiance inside the restaurant provides a quiet escape from the bustling city outside.
Generally speaking eating in Malta is really a hit or miss, but luckily - despite its strange name - this is a hit. The interior looks really special, nice atmosphere. The service was swift, prices are high (main dish starts at €18) - but it's not surprising due to its location in the heart of the old town. The Pistachio tagliatelle was simply amazing, cooked perfectly al dente, covered in a generous amount of salty pistachio cream, some pistachios on the top and a creamy burrata. The overall harmony of the tastes was just perfect. We also tryed the imqaret, a fried pastry with dates and ice cream - I didn't expect much, but that tasted great too with good quality ice cream. If I would come back to Malta I would definitely return.

We had 5 dinners in Valletta during our stay and this one was by far our favorite. Everything we had was delicious, including the 2 starters (scallops and fried goat cheese) and 3 entrees (lobster tagliatelle, pesto spaghetti, and even the kids pasta). The house wine was also delicious and very affordable. Didn’t have dessert because we were too full but I’m sure it is great as well.

Piadina Caffe is a charming cafe located near St Johns Co-Cathedral in Valletta, offering a delightful breakfast menu featuring fresh croissants, muesli, toasts with Italian hams, and their specialty piadina. This flatbread originates from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The cafe is perfect for a leisurely morning or a quick lunch break, with limited seating inside but ample space on the long steps outside.
As a bread lover, their piadina definitely brought a smile to my face ☺️ The atmosphere is really cozy, but keep in mind the limited space and the fact that the seating is on steps (not ideal if you’re feeling a bit wobbly) 🫨 The service was good! We had a little misunderstanding regarding me not wanting cheese (which is very present on most items 🧀), but it was sorted out just fiiine in the end.

Great Little Place to grab lunch. Although i was tempted by the name...I love piadinas ....I had an Amazing base salid with all the vegan options. The outdoor seating in a Little side street on a Hill was the perfect Malta atmosphe for lunch. Note. Tables are small... Perfect for two. Also you have tò get a Little use to eating sideways ...or if you are in the chair facing down the Hill... Its like getting a slight squat workout pushings back so your chair does not slide down the Hill. All in all, i recommed the Piadina Caffè for lunch. The salid was really nice and the staff are really friendly.

I recently visited Piadina Café & Pizza and had a wonderful experience. The menu isn’t very large, but everything is prepared with great care and tastes fantastic. Their pizzas are offered in three different styles, which is a nice touch, and the salads are absolutely huge and fresh. The atmosphere is really charming – the café is located on a narrow, steep street, which adds a unique and cheerful vibe to the place. Service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, it’s a cozy spot with excellent food and a warm atmosphere – definitely worth a visit!

Brilliant place for a vegan ftira in Malta. This wee sandwich shop in the heart of Valetta offers made to order sandwiches and you can choose your ingredients from the large selection of vegetables and sauces that are vegan friendly. I think we had kunserva (traditional Maltese tomato sauce/spread) with rocket, aubergine & sun dried tomatoes and my partner avocado and mushroom. Both on traditional ftira bread. Very generous portion and nice to try traditional dishes from Malta but veganised.

These are the best sandwiches you will ever eat!! The traditional Maltese bread (Ftira) is the perfect size and texture, the choices for toppings are unbelievable, and Simone’s customer service is outstanding. We went four times during our stay (including one to takeaway to the airport), and each time, Simone’s sandwiches delivered on flavour, freshness and price point (approx 5 euro per sandwich). Each sandwich is made with love and care. The toppings are evenly disturbed within the sandwich, ensuring each bite is as pleasant as the last. This is hands down the best meal we ate in Malta. There is also great seating available in the shade outside, and Simone will deliver your sandwiches and ice cold Kinnie with a smile.

Some of the nicest curry we have ever had. The slow cooked beef was delicious and fell apart and the chicken was succulent and both sauces were so smooth and flavourful. 13 September 2025 Superb North indian style cuisine . Had a delicious meal at Naan Bar, Valletta. I wanted a hot chicken curry and the Manager, Himanshu, obliged by asking the chef to make me a hot madras. This was full of the flavours of North India. Prawn mango curry - mildly tangy and not overwhelmingly sweet as these curries often turn out in most indian restaurants. Veg Biryani and Nan bread also excellent Got to see their downstairs dining area which was well laid out. Large window allowed a view of the kitchen and chefs at work ( always a good sign that the management is confident of its hygiene standards and diners can clearly see that all the good is freshly cooked . Staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. Overall a really good dining experience and I have to say that the quality of the food was as good as some of the best indian I have had.

I had dinner at Naan Bar, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding: rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The garlic butter naan was exceptional, probably the best I’ve ever had. The general manager, Hannu, was extremely attentive, and the entire kitchen team made the experience memorable (see photo!). You can’t go wrong with Indian food here, everything was top-notch. Be sure to make a reservation, this place fills up fast for good reason! Hannu, thank you to you and your kitchen team for such a wonderful experience!

With 30 years of culinary expertise, this family-run restaurant has gained international acclaim for its delectable dishes and panoramic views. The menu features pan-seared boneless quail, veal chops, and fresh catches of the day.
Absolutely exquisite! We were thrilled to find this hidden gem! It occupies the top floor of the owner’s home and offers those fortunate guests the opportunity to view the beautiful coastline of Malta from there at their table. Servers presented us with some of the fresh- caught fish to choose from and then prepared it to our specifications. It was an unforgettable meal! The food is perfectly fresh and delicious!

Lovely quirky place. Good food. Only thing that let it down was a waitress feeling is we had Pavlova which it wasn't. Foundant was served. She then proceeded to tells us we had ordered fondant which we hadn't. Other than that it was a good experience. Loved the views. Food was good. Would go back again.

The meal was cooked to perfection from entrees to dessert. The service could not be faulted and the view was breathtaking. One of my favourite restaurants iodine and relax.

"A truly incredible dining experience. The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the ambiance was beautiful. We can't wait to come back!"

The view from Giannini's was breathtaking. We got pampered right from the start with attention to every detail. The food was delicious and the chef's specials were definitely the right choice. Be careful what you order, though. If you go for the catch or the day make sure you ask for the price as we were surprised by the high price of our rock fish. We were happy regardless.

Wonderful view, the service is perfect. Fresh fish and seafood are absolutely delicious! Pasta perfectly cooked and the meat is top quality. The desserts look stunning and taste even better. Highly recommend but make a reservation as it is a rather small restaurant.

We had a late lunch and boy was it impressive. First of all, it's way up in the hills of Valetta so you're not likely to see any tourists. We were presented tableside fresh Snapper and Langoustine. I had the Tagliatelle with Veal Ragout which was incredible. The Octopus Carpacio was one of the best I've had and my family sells it in our restaurant shaved just like they do. And don't even get me started on the dessert. Just look at it!
Chad W — Google review
2 out of 5 is the maximum I could give. I read so many positive reviews and I'm super disappointed from what I've seen and experienced inside. Starters: 1) mozarrella di buffala - it was standard mozzarella not the buffala, no taste, lack of freshness; 2) beef carpaccio - cuts very thick and chewy, as far as I understand carpaccio should melt in your mouth. Main, fish, seabass. If you order fish I feel that it should be filleted in front of you, so you know what you are eating. Instead I got a fish ready to eat on my plate...covered with tomatoes sauce I didn't ask for. The fish was very tiny, a portion for one and it was charged surprisingly 60€ (fish that I didn't see the size before). I've been in many restaurants in Malta and it feels like a clear fraud. Example - the next day we went to Porto Vecchio restaurant and the food not only was much better quality, but also for 150euros (same price as Giannini) we fed four people with coffees and desserts. For plus is a great service in your place and good selections of wine.

Nestled in the charming streets of Valletta, Il-Horza Restaurant offers a cozy dining experience with a remarkable view of the Grand Harbour and Fort St. Angelo. The interior is adorned with wine bottles, adding to its quaint atmosphere. This small and friendly eatery serves Maltese classics for lunch, such as squash soup, pasta, and pork belly.
I had dinner at Il-Ħorza yesterday, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The rabbit pâté is honestly the best I have ever tasted. The warm welcome and attentive service made the evening even more enjoyable. The restaurant has just reopened under new management a few days ago, and it already delivers excellence. Every dish we tried was superb – the rabbit, the octopus, the smoked duck carpaccio, and the chicken Wellington were all perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Congratulations to the whole team for achieving such high quality so quickly. And on top of the food, don’t miss the view of the old underground well from the lower dining room – a truly unique curiosity in Valletta. Definitely worth a visit!

It’s a hidden gem in VALETTA, great food, good wine and lovely host. Recommend to try all their appetizers, great quality and easy to share. The main dish we all love the fresh catch fish of the day, really tasty! We paired with 2 local white wines and have to say the selection is perfect. If you want to have a decent dinner and away from the busy Main Street, this place is your top choice!

This a gem of a restaurant, hidden in a silent ally. The host James, who is the new owner apparently since 2 weeks, is a truly gentleman. It’s local food like his grandmother taught him. Truly authentic, small but cosy restaurant. Definitely would recommend!
Cédric O — Google review
We were told about this restaurant by our hotel manager who recommended that we visit. What a great find this was, the food was fantastic, the personal service that James gives each table is what other restaurants can only dream of providing. Ask James to show you the ancient city well in the middle of the restaurant. I would defo recommend this great little restaurant to any and all. Go there you won't regret it.
Mark E — Google review
The food and atmosphere were amazing. There are two seating areas, upstairs and downstairs, each seating 10 people. The owner/waiter was extremely kind and explained each dish, many of which are his grandmother’s recipes. I order the steak frites, which was the best I’ve ever had. The tagliatelle and chicken Wellington were equally good. This place is a hidden gem.

Believe this has recently reopened, so reviews older than 5 weeks are old management. The food is amazing, James our server was great. The rabbit croquettes as a starter brilliant. Pasta dishes very very good. The selected wine Maltese red Grand Reserve, so good and atmosphere so friendly we stayed for two bottles worth of wine before leaving. Very relaxed place. Would recommend pre booking as smaller restaurant.

Il-Ħorża Restaurant in Valletta is a culinary gem that truly impresses. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the fabulous sea bass, perfectly cooked to retain its moisture and flavor, making each bite a delight. The seasoning was spot on, enhancing the natural taste without overpowering it. The service was exceptional, with attentive staff. Their warm hospitality added a personal touch to the dining experience, making us feel welcomed and valued. The wine selection complemented the meal beautifully. The staff guided us to a local Maltese wine that paired perfectly with our dishes, enhancing the flavors and overall experience. A special mention goes to the chef, whose passion for food is evident in every dish. The creativity and skill behind the menu shine through, making Il-Ħorża a must-visit for anyone seeking an outstanding dining experience in Valletta. Highly recommended!

The menu features local fish dishes such as fish tartar, red king prawns, octopus carpaccio, and roast lobster.
We had a lovely family meal in the restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the staff were polite and nice, the views were amazing. It was very quiet when we arrived, but the restaurant slowly filled in as the night progressed. I had the most amazing grouper with pistachio crust ever! I absolutely loved it! They have a good selection of single malt whisky and a decent selection of gin. The cocktail presentation was beautiful. The only issue was people smoking on the terrace as the restaurant opened the roof in the evening. It was just unpleasant to eat my dessert, smelling cigarettes. I personally think smoking should not be permitted in the places where the food is served.

Very interesting, nice, classy restaurant with a unique location over the bay. An experience in any weather. Good food and extremely friendly service. The impression is somewhat spoiled by unnecessarily loud music with very poor quality reproduction.

A beautiful lunchtime view! Highly recommend. Featured in 2020’s Michelin guide but the chef has since changed. The carbonara is no longer served in the cheese wheel - a shame but delicious none the less. The Genovese Shellfish pot was a star! Juicy, fat mussels are the highlight. Fresh, warm bread to dunk in the sauce was moreish. House Prosecco was crisp and went down a bit too easily! I can’t remember the name of my cocktail but it was a cherry, lime, sour, sweet, refreshing libation. Service was polite and friendly. The views are incredible! Restaurant ia large, airy and has interesting art mannequins. Recommend!

We had an amazing time at Capo Crudo. Great cocktails (they have a lot of amazing Gin’s) and the food recommendation from our waiter Inuka was great. We had some oysters and beef tartare for starters and the catch of the day as a main which was incredibile.

Amazing restaurant in Valletta, right on the coast. It has an amazing view of the sea and the most attentive staff a restaurant could ask for. Every staff member made it feel like a VIP experience. Had a nice time at Capo Crudo by Valletta marina. Milan took great care of me with lots of enthusiasm. The food and drinks were good, and the ambience was nice. Fantastic little find in the heart of Valletta’s old town. Off the main drag and away from the throng of the maddening crowd, but still easily reachable. Amazing vegan food, incredibly nourishing and tasty (we had the Salad Bowl with Falafel and the Burger - both excellent) along with a couple of the smoothies - all tasted superb and were freshly made to order, with love and care. The “hosts” (I don’t think they have “owners” were both courteous, friendly, and generous. I’m not even vegan - but couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

My hotel was quite close to Gugar BAR and every time I walked past it was always busy, usually with the same faces sat outside. So I’m assuming it’s a favourite bar amongst locals as well as visitors - which is always a good sign. The bar itself is colourful, comfortable, and super cosy. I loved the eclectic style and various paraphernalia dotted around. The staff were very welcoming, but not intrusive. Food is freshly made and was absolutely delicious, as was my Aperol Spritz. Highly recommended.

Italian restaurant
San Paolo Naufrago is a charming pizzeria and wine bar located in the heart of Valletta, Malta. Since 1938, this family-run establishment has been serving up fresh parma pizzas, charcuterie platters, and an extensive selection of local and foreign wines. The cozy wine bar offers a warm and relaxed atmosphere where diners can enjoy live music while savoring their meals.
We decided to try the lasagna, which was recommended on the menu – and we were not disappointed. The dish was excellent, generously topped with cheese and served piping hot. Since all tables for the evening had already been reserved more than a week in advance, we went to the restaurant without a reservation around 4 p.m. After a short wait, we were able to get a table without any problems. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but absolutely reasonable given the quality, location, and ambience. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit – highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful place for dinner. The seats are distributed above the stairs, romantic fairy lights give the place a magical glow. You should have a table reservation or wait until a table is assigned. The waiting time is rewarded with an excellent meal. The pizza was outstanding, the lasagna highly recommended. We'd love to come back!

We had a lovely experience at San Paolo Naufrago in Valletta. The service was superb – friendly, attentive, and efficient – and the atmosphere was wonderful, with charming surroundings that make it a perfect spot to soak up the city’s vibe. It’s definitely worth booking in advance though; the queues were very long for walk-ins and quite a number of people were turned away , and we could see why! The only downside for us was the limited menu during our visit – pizza and lasagna were the only main courses available – but both were delicious and freshly made. A great place for a relaxed meal in the heart of Valletta. There is a minimum spend of €25 per person, which wasn’t an issue for us because we had starters, desserts and drinks as well. However, if you’re on a budget, you need to be aware of this.
Georgina T — Google review
Great atmosphere, beautiful place, good food. Delicious bruschetta, good lasagna, but for my taste, it could be a bit more intense and spicy. The pizza with burrata, mortadella, and pistachios was fantastic. A storm broke out during our meal, so the staff quickly gathered our belongings and moved us to the free balcony upstairs. Highly recommended. A mandatory 25€ per person minimum spend
Weronika S — Google review
One of the nicest, of the Italian street restaurants in Valletta. It's set at the top of the street running down to the waterfront in Valletta and actually is on both sides of the street. Small tables are arranged down the street's steps. It's a little precarious sitting on the metal seats on the narrow steps, but that's all part of the experience. They do have inside tables, but on a nice day, sitting outside is the place to be. Service is quick, friendly and professional. The wine list is excellent as are the beers and cocktails available. All of which is reasonably priced. Our pizzas were delicious. Great toppings and cooked to perfection. Homemade deserts looked fantastic, but we were too full to contemplate one! We went at lunchtime and we're lucky enough to get a table - you can guarantee they will be busy. If your in Valletta do try this lovely place. You won't be disappointed.
Paul B — Google review
It was one of the coziest and prettiest restaurants in Valleta. The prices aren’t the lowest, but reasonable. The food was extraordinary but still tasty. The best factor was the atmosphere🙂
Laura M — Google review
Decided to visit the restaurant after a TikTok recommendation and decided to book for my birthday. We reserved online and we didn’t have any wait. The food was very good and the service was impeccable. They were so fast with the service and we got our food and drinks not long after ordering. I do have 2 things that I found to be a downfall as I did have high expectations. We decided to get dessert as it was my birthday and I got a tiramisu. I was very disappointed by it. They replaced the coffee with Bailey’s which for an Italian restaurant was not the best look. We told the server this as well he apologised but I know he couldn’t do much about it. Another disappointment was when booking it asked if we had a special occasion which I wrote down and unfortunately no acknowledgement was made. I’m sure they get this all the time so I’m not sure if they pick and choose or if they just don’t bother with it anymore. I did find my cocktail in a small bath tub very hilarious.

My favourite cocktail spot! Every one was unique and inventive, and it was fun to sit out on the stairs. Only issue was cleanliness, the cushions to sit on were very dirty and the steps themselves were covered in bird poop. If the cushions were proper garden ones that could be wiped down that would improve it a lot, and be a nicer environment to sip the delicious cocktails.

Castille Hotel is a 16th century hotel located in the heart of Old Madrid with European dining and Wi-Fi complimentary breakfast buffet. The charming staff make it a great place to stay while in Madrid.
Booked this hotel because of the location views & that it is traditional. However we checked in on the 17th July at 9.15 am but by 11.30 am we had checked out. Where do I start ……. You could smell the damp as soon as you walked into the reception area . We booked two rooms as we are a family of four but both rooms are very very tired . Holes in the ceiling and walls ,rooms smell musty The doors don’t shut the bathrooms really smell of ………..drains and damp the air conditioning definitely doesn’t work the windows are knackered . The whole place needs a complete renovation. We all know that a lick of paint and a freshen up can work wonders even on a tight budget. I’m am a realist and have back packed in Asia over 25 years ago and didn’t stay anywhere this bad for under £3 . I appreciate there are some good reviews for this place but I think they got lucky .

Location is the only reason to stay here. The hotel has very poor air conditioning, the rooms are small and the furnishings are old and grungy. There are marks on the walls and the tiny bathroom tile has mold everywhere in the grout lines. The people who work there are nice and the included breakfast was a treat, but the overall experience was not good at all. I would not recommend this hotel.

Shower had no pressure, was hard to regulate heat/cold either freezing or scorching. Bathrooms need upgrading as shower over bath and difficult to manage for elderly guests Air condition seems to be turned off during day and poor cooling at night, we were there in Autumn can’t imagine how stifling it would be in summer

The Hotel location is great! Room 38 third floor is a very sad, smelling, dark and damp room with a view of the wires and stonework. Facilities are bare minimum, plug socket and hair dryer lead didn't fit, so had to ask for extension lead, which I finally was given on the 2nd day by a much more professional staff member than the one I had spoken to the previous evening. No full length mirror either. Positives: single bed and pillow comfortable Breakfast on roof terrace adequate Close to Bus Terminal for transport to Airport and anywhere you want to explore, bus fare cheap. Overall loved our stay in Valetta.

A complete disaster : from the room which was dirty and smelly and horribly noisy to the breakfast which is simply uneatable whith realy cheap food. 240€ for 2 nights is a scam. It is so frustrating since it has a great roof top and the common areas are beautiful.

We booked this hotel 1 night for around 150 euro with breakfast, relatively expensive for what we got. Maybe because it's long weekend there. It's really good location. Classic old hotel but poor condition. Lifts are charming, small but still working. Our room is hidden in staircase area. We had windows with inner view - mean no view and a bit of sunlight. A/C is old but working (not too strong but it's ok) Beds were ok. Quite clean. And it's quiet to stay here. Have refrigerator and 2 small water bottles. Sockets in the room are UK type. But it havs 1 that work with my adapter (EU) Bathroom were old and rusty. Small bathtub. Provided tubes of showergel , shampoo and small soap. Old Way to do warm water, needs to mix hot and cold in right temperature to not burn you. And it's a bit stinks from those drain. Overall it's ok to think that we just 1 night stay here. Breakfast room on the 5th floor, spectacular view of the harbour. Food were simple, bread, bacon, yogurt etc. Staffs were nice, good service. It's a shame for location with so poor condition of the room.

The dining experience here is exceptional, with beautifully presented dishes and generous portions that tantalize the taste buds. The attentive service complements the inviting ambiance, making it a perfect spot to unwind while enjoying stunning city views from the cozy winter garden. Guests are treated to thoughtful gestures like complimentary dessert platters for special occasions, and witnessing fresh Tiramisu being prepared at your table adds an unforgettable touch.
I highly recommend the afternoon tea served in the Palm Court Lounge at The Phoenicia, a historic five-star hotel in Floriana, Malta. We were served a pot of steeped tea, accompanied by Devon cream and flaky scones, finger sandwiches, and decadent desserts. This afternoon ritual is a beloved tradition in the former British colony. Tea is served in the hotel lobby. I also suggest you roam through the Contessa’s iconic dining room and its botanical garden-inspired terrace conservatory

I had reserved a table for my boyfriends birthday. We were received super warmly, and we were offered something to drink. The olives we got at the beginning were the best we've ever eaten. We have never had such a delicious Aperol Spritz and the food was also so delicious. The dessert was also incredibly good, a highlight was definitely that the tiramisu was prepared at the table. A complete success was also the little birthday surprise for my boyfriend. Price performance definitely matches. We will definitely come back, because not only the food is mega good, but also the ambiance and the view, especially at sunset 😍

The bottomless brunch was a fabulous experience. Everything was great at Contessa. The beautiful location, whether on the terrace with the amazing view, or inside with the gorgeous interior, was fitting for our wedding anniversary. The food was great, although it is almost guaranteed you will eat too much. Even better were the staff. Utterly exemplary. Wonderfully friendly and charming, and never shy in topping up the prosecco. The only improvement would be serving more custard with the bread and butter pudding 😜 (I like a lot of custard and they found it very amusing). The amount and quality of food and drink available during the bottomless brunch make it a bargain for me.

Nestled in the heart of Valletta, Taproom is a trendy and intimate restaurant that promises an enjoyable dining experience. With various seating options, including a large communal table and cozy booths, guests can choose their preferred atmosphere. The menu features a delightful mix of Mediterranean and European fusion dishes, showcasing inventive salads, mouthwatering pasta, and hearty meat options that are sure to satisfy any palate. The stylish interior adds to the relaxed vibe, making it an ideal spot for both lunch and dinner.
Excellent meal here last night. They were busy and we sat at the back on the large sharing table. It is a great spot as you can see the chefs in the kitchen. The food was excellent - the duck ravioli was delicious. The staff were all friendly and very efficient. Great atmosphere and great food.

Had lunch at Taproom today and it was simply amazing! ❤️ The rabbit was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and the lobster tagliatelle with red sauce and thyme was just as delicious. My new favorite drink is officially their virgin cucumber mojito – so refreshing! This has officially become our favorite spot in Valletta, and if you don’t believe me, I highly recommend you visit and see for yourself!

What a lovely surprise. My husband found this lovely place on Google Maps and we decided to come for lunch. We didn’t make any reservations but the girl who greeted us was immediately very friendly pointing us to one of the tables for two. We loved everything we ordered. The sea bass ceviche was divine 😋! I really recommend this restaurant.
H.S. F — Google review
Another great restaurant in Malta. A mix of Maltese and Italian food. The seafood dishes and the fish (red snapper) were absolutely fantastic. The combination of fish with lentils and aubergine wand spot on. The pork belly bites were top tier. And so was the pasta with mushroom and truffle. We sat at the social table as it was the 7 of us. The pistachio melt cake was delicious. Highly recommended restaurant. Book in advance.
Alessandra D — Google review
Impossible to give anything more than an average review as the service was abysmal - unwelcoming and cold service and atmosphere. Felt as though we were a nuisance despite having a reservation, many walk-ins were actively ignored despite us being the only people in the restaurant. One party was seated but left after being neglected for over 30 minutes. Such a shame considering what a great job the kitchen does.
George A — Google review
The lobster pasta was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I also tried the fish ceviche, which was fresh, zesty, and delicious. On top of that, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. Highly recommend!
Lilia M — Google review
A nicer tourist-restaurant in Valletta that serves European dishes with a Mediterranean focus. The food was alright, though it could use more seasoning. The staff were kind and the cozy interior made for a comfortable meal. Overall a good experience.
Vilgot B — Google review
Restaurant serving great food but let down badly by the service. The lady who was working the shift seemed like she didn't want to be there, you'd have a better experience speaking to the brick wall beyond the normal order. Despite the restaurant getting a little busy, it was sad after using the restroom to see the waitress scroll with her phone behind the counter rather than engaging with customers. Other than that, the food was great.

Extended stay hotel
The Embassy Valletta Hotel is a refined accommodation located in the heart of Valletta, offering spacious and elegantly designed rooms with city or sea views. Situated near restaurants, historic bars, and cultural attractions, it's an ideal choice for those prioritizing location. The hotel features amenities such as rooftop pool, gym, and cinema. Guests can enjoy outdoor activities during late spring to early autumn while milder months are perfect for walking tours.
Lovely stay- the rooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing despite being in the middle of a busy city. The rooftop was a highlight for us. In Valletta in can be hard to find hotels with a pool, so having the space to relax and cool down was perfect. While the subbed area by the pool was slightly limited, there’s also a roof deck with extra loungers and comfy sofas. It was much quieter up there and had a nice breeze, though to access the pool you have to walk through the restaurant. The location was ideal- right in the centre of Valletta, surrounded by lovely restaurants and close to buses and taxis to explore the island more. The hotel is located on a lively party street with music, which can be noisy outside, but you’d never know from the rooms. The staff were brilliant throughout our stay- everyone from reception to rooftop to housekeeping was friendly and helpful. Sometimes housekeeping didn’t replenish the tea bags or coffee pods, and once took our robes without replacing them. But a quick call to reception and it was sorted within minutes. The rooftop pool closes at 7pm, but they offer a midnight swim between 12-1am. We absolutely loved swimming at night and even saw fireworks from the pool, which was really special. Breakfast wasn’t included in our stay, but we did receive a complimentary breakfast one morning. The selection wasn’t huge, but had everything you’d typically want for breakfast. I’d definitely recommend this hotel in Valletta.
Emilia B — Google review
I am very satisfied with the choice of staying at the Embassy Hotel Valletta, and I truly believe it is one of the best hotels in the city. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Valletta, and the rooftop terrace offers a wonderful view that really adds to the experience. Most importantly, the service is outstanding. The reception team deserves special thanks – they always greeted us warmly, remembered us by face, and were genuinely helpful with every request. Their professionalism made our vacation especially pleasant. The rooms are well-designed, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities. There is enough space to store clothes, and I personally liked the overall style and layout. There are a couple of small drawbacks to keep in mind. The sound insulation is not perfect, and since our windows faced the lively street with bars, it could be noisy until around 11:30 PM. It didn’t bother me much, but guests who go to bed early may find it challenging. Another point is that the rooftop deck has limited sunbeds and especially umbrellas, so you need to arrive around 10:30 AM to secure one. Adding more umbrellas or shaded spots on the rooftop would make it even more comfortable. Despite these minor issues, the stay exceeded expectations. I would definitely choose this hotel again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Valletta. A big thank you once more to the reception team for providing such a high level of service!
Svetlana K — Google review
It’s a great location and very clean and comfortable hotel. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. They have a beautiful atrium on the first floor to enjoy a relaxing drink or coffee. The rooftop is a big bonus. It has great views of the entire city. We had drinks there every night at sunset before going to dinner. We had some snacks too sometimes. The food is delicious too. I would definitely stay here again if I come to Malta.
Heba B — Google review
I highly recommend staying at this hotel. All the staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and clean. We loved having breakfast up on the roof terrace overlooking Valletta. The roof terrace is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner and watch the sunset, or have a swim in the lovely pool. The hotel is in a perfect location to see all the sights in Valletta. So you don’t have to walk far. It was a special double birthday trip. 70th and 65th birthday. We will definitely be returning to this hotel.
Lorraine G — Google review
We had a fantastic stay here, location was perfect for enjoying all the delights of Valetta. So close to all restaurants and bars. The service was 2nd to none, great rooftop restaurant for breakfast and late evening drinks. Even has a sundeck for sunbathing or late evening drinks with incredible panoramic views of the city and Harbour front
Nirmal — Google review
I can’t vouch for the rooms or hotel itself but I will review the rooftop dining experience. The food and cocktails are exquisite and the view is probably the main draw card too, it was for me. There is a pool for the hotel guests and the view looks out over the dome and buildings of Valetta towards the water. Also they serve nuts as a bar snack to go with the cocktails 🍸
C C — Google review
The service at reception and during breakfast was fantastic, and the rooms were spacious, modern, and perfectly suited to a couple or even a family of three. The pool was also a real highlight, with an outstanding view of Valletta. The only drawback was that the pool is situated directly next to the bar, which may not make it ideal for children, and the central location, while excellent for exploring the city, does mean that the lively atmosphere on Strait Street can continue until around 1–2am. This could be disruptive if trying to get sleep. That said, this is part of the charm of staying in such a vibrant capital, and the overall quality of the hotel was faultless.
Cameron D — Google review
We stayed at this 4-star hotel, but the noise level at night was unbearable. We understand that some street noise is unavoidable in the city center; however, the music volume from the nearby bars made it feel like we were inside the bar itself. The live music went on until around 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and the hotel did not warn us about this issue at all. Even after we asked for earplugs, it didn’t help, the balcony door provide almost no sound insulation. What’s more frustrating is that this issue has been mentioned in reviews for years, yet clearly nothing has changed. For a rate of over €200 per night, a good night’s sleep should be the minimum expectation. If you’re planning to stay here over the weekend, think twice — you’ll likely be kept awake by the bars until 1 a.m. and then woken again around 6 a.m. by street-cleaning trucks. Great location, but not worth the sleepless nights. [Update] Thank you for your reply. However, we did contact the front desk every night during our stay to request a quieter room, but were told each time that the hotel was fully booked. The hotel kindly offered complimentary champagne and a small dessert one night, which we appreciated, though it didn’t help with the rest we needed. The first two nights were extremely noisy due to the bars directly below the hotel, while Sunday was much quieter since the bar was closed. This clearly shows that the unbearable noise occurs mainly on Friday and Saturday nights. We understand some city noise is expected in a central location, but it would have been helpful to be informed in advance about the extremely loud noise on Friday and Saturday, or to have better soundproofing in the rooms. Thank you again for your response and for acknowledging our feedback, we hope the hotel can take this into consideration to improve future guests’ experiences.

Located in a 400-year-old stone vaulted cellar, Trabuxu Wine Bar offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere for wine and cheese enthusiasts. Whether you choose to enjoy the ambiance indoors or sip wine at a barrel outside, this bar provides an extensive selection of wines, carefully sourced cheeses, and cured meats. As Valletta's premier wine bar for over 15 years, it has become a landmark for locals and visitors alike.
Excellent place to drink fine wines from all over the world even Greek! The cheese and cold cuts platters with local products were delicious. Great atmosphere and music. Very kind and warm staff.

The wine and the cheese were heavenly. Great service and recommendations. They were fast and knew everything about the food and drinks. We’ll definitely come again and recommend this place! It’s good to know they mostly serve wine and only be the bottle though. And you have to be quick to get a table at nighttime.
Nin M — Google review
Easy to miss if you’re not aware what a gem you are passing by, this wine bar has a beautiful selection of wines. The oldest and by far the best wine bar in Malta. We found this place by chance and were welcomed by Andres, we have felt like home since the first time. Since then, we also brought our family here and were welcomed by the owner Chris, who embodies the spirit of this establishment. Do try the chicken pâté! It’s the only item which hasn’t been removed from the menu since this bar was founded 24 years ago. The personnel feels like part of the soul of this quaint little place. Thank you for having us, Luca & Poppy

Lovely spot tucked away in the alleys of Valletta, perfect for enjoying wine and some small bites in a lively and friendly atmosphere. They also have a good selection of digestifs for the end of the evening. Andresito was very skilled and professional. My girlfriend and I will definitely be back!

Very nice atmosphere, super tasty food and amazing nice service!!! We discover it by chance and it became such romantic and atmospheric evening. Total recommendation!
Marc P — Google review
Friendly service quality with wide wine menus and cheese options. Especially the cheeses were delicious. However, the outside seating was not comfortable because it was sloping, but it is still a restaurant with a nice ambiance in one of the side streets of Valletta. I recommend it for fine dining
Yasin — Google review
Beautiful spot. We had a bottle of wine and a mixed cheese/meat board with recommendations from the waiter. It is a little expensive. They don’t offer a meat/cheese plate on the menu so you need to order the cheese board and add the meat separately which adds up. Having a full charcuterie board on the menu would be a positive addition. Can’t fault the food, service or the setting though.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Valletta, Malata Bar and Restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Maltese, French, and Mediterranean cuisines. Located just across from the Grand Masters Palace in St Georges Square, this charming eatery invites you to enjoy your meal either inside its historic 500-year-old cellar adorned with whimsical caricatures or outside on the lively square.
Very personalized service was provided by our host, Sebastian, who knocked himself out to see that we had a splendid meal after our visit to the Teatru Manoel. Michelle, who is a very kind Maltese lady who works at the theater recommended Malata and we were very pleased with her suggestion. The sea bass was excellent as was the saltimbocca. The locally produced Cabernet Franc, which was a suggested by Sebastian, as well, and was an unexpected delight. Overall, an excellent experience!

One of the best places ive been eating so far on Malta!… Friendly and professional service and the food is not from this planet… The food is excellent; seafood naturally, but other good choices as well… Vegetarian Friendly, Gluten Free Options

The service is very bad. I am sitting for 20 min, finishing the bread and no one came to ask; but they are very quick and happy to serve the group of Austrian tourist coming after me. I was complaining and they told me “It’s a restaurant, not the coffee shop and do you see i am very busy”. Price of good is high and not many options to choose.
Linh B — Google review
I am still chasing the manager of this restaurant after I was told off by him when I complained! We were there two days ago and despite putting up with the poor service during the night, when the tuna arrived badly cooked and the dessert had panna we complained. We were told that the chef was in a bad mood and to try be patient because the restaurant's chef was in a bad mood and he didn't feel like complaints for the night! Since we were in the company of a special guest, I just paid the bill and left without checking because my guest was already feeling bad with all the happenings. Upon returning home I realised we were charged for an extra 2 liquors and an extra bottle of water. So the day after I sent an email to the restaurant and the manager replied that I should have complained there and then and the he thought I was irrational!! Can you believe this?! This will not stop here obviously because we were loyal customers of this restaurant and the management still didn't care despite seeing us at the restaurant at least twice a month before! But I wanted to open an eye to the readers here as well. If manager replies to me, I will update this post.
Dorianne M — Google review
A nice outdoor restaurant with nice view over the square. Although the food price was higher than expected and the options were limited. We ended up choosing another location due to the long wait to bring the menu to the table.

(Translated by Google) The lady was very nice and helpful, it's a pity that the "apartment" is tiny, without a fridge AND kitchenette, with dubious cleanliness and a non-existent bed. We basically slept on a camping mattress placed on a wooden table. There was a strong mixed musty-mold smell and there is only one window overlooking a very dirty courtyard with a car wreck. Don't worry about the alarm clock, the bells of the adjacent church will take care of it from 6.30 to 10.30 in the morning with regular chimes every hour! C’era un forte odore misto chiuso-muffa e vi è una sola finestra che da su un cortile sporchissimo e con una carcassa di automobile.
