Bistro
Nestled at the Cape Charles Yacht Center, Hook @ Harvey is a casual yet refined bistro offering delectable dining experiences. The Crab Chesapeake en Bouche, featuring jumbo lump crab and shiitake mushrooms over puff pastry with a hint of sherry, is a must-try starter. Indulge in entrees like lemon caper chicken breast or pan-seared beef tenderloin.
From our brief wait on the deck by all the boats and yachts, to an amazing meal inside brought to us by our delightful waitress, Anna-we were just blown away. We even made a brief trip outside to get a couple nice pics with the beautiful sunset 🌇 A truly memorable meal from start to finish! I even found their sherry crab bisque that rivals my favorite of all time she-crab soup at Crab Louies 🦀, that used to be in Midlothian, VA! Thank you for a great birthday meal worth celebrating!! Be sure to call ahead to get your reservation!

The wait staff was very fun and the food was appropriately timed and was delicious. You will not be disappointed. They also made recommendations for food sensitivities. The only reason for four stars and honestly, it should be four and half stars was that a very loud group was seated and it made hearing anything almost impossible. The restaurant could use some noise reduction art on the ceiling or something so it's not so live in their. I can't believe with this place being recommended to me two years ago that the haven't done something about it. Apparently a patron complained about it the day before as well. Come on guys! Let's get five stars! You deserve it. Just fix this one thing.
Heidi K — Google review
All my research for our short weekend visit to Cape Charles said dinner at Hook @ Harvey is a must. Well color me intrigued! Y'all were not wrong! Driving up to the restaurant we saw picturesque views of the marina, sailboats, catamarans and a sunset, a perfect start to the evening. Reservations are a must! The dining room is small and has an intimate feel. Of note, I can appreciate how the elevated noise level in the small area could affect one's experience. The noise level did slowly and steadily rise during our time there, but did not affect our experience. Sara our waitress was amazing! Attentive, kind, funny, engaging, and accommodating and she made great recommendations for our stay in the area. She is an absolute gem! We had the jumbo seared scallops, halibut (fish du jour), peanut butter ganache and pecan praline dessert, key lime dessert, an old fashioned and Malbec. Everything was superbly plated and expertly timed. All food is made in-house which adds to the elevated experience. Typically I take a lot of photos but, I promised my husband I would be fully present for this experience. So a dessert photo is all you get, this time. We will most certainly return and I promise to take more photos. I cannot recommend Hook @ Harvey enough when visiting Cape Charles. We will most certainly return.

We’ve been regular diners at this restaurant during our visits to our vacation home in Cape Charles and have consistently enjoyed our experiences—until this most recent visit, which was unfortunately quite disappointing. Despite the relatively normalcy of the dining room, it took over 20 minutes for our non-alcoholic drinks to arrive. The fettuccine, which was described as having “lemongrass undertones,” arrived as a green, clumped-together portion of noodles with minimal flavor. The fish of the day—halibut—was equally underwhelming. Rather than the firm, steak-like cut we expected, it was flaky, watery, and lacked both freshness and flavor, suggesting it may have been previously frozen. Adding to the frustration, one member of our party fell ill earlier in the day and was unable to attend. While we understand reservation policies, we were still charged $20 for the individual who could not make it—despite the remaining five of us being present. On the flip side, the rolls were excellent—fresh, warm, and one of the few highlights of the meal. We also noted that the menu has remained unchanged for the past 2–3 years. While this might be ideal for tourists, it’s becoming increasingly stale for returning guests like us. We truly hope this was just an off night, as this restaurant has long been a favorite. But unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations in both food and service.

This restaurant was the top recommended one when talking to friends who had visited Cape Charles. We made reservations for our first wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and ended with a dessert and everything was spectacular. The service was great. The place is a little small and loud depending on the guests in attendance. For appetizers we got the ahi tuna, crab bisque and dinner rolls. The tuna could be an entree it was so much and SO fresh. Highly recommend both. For entrees, we both went with the beef tenderloin. It was fantastic and came with whipped potatoes, carrots, broccolini, pumpkin(?), and green beans. For dessert, we went with a chocolate cheesecake with Oreo and kahlua and homemade whipped cream. Omg. It was incredible.

My man and I went for dinner. The greeter was prompt and friendly. We were early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar while we waited. The bartender was friendly and skilled at preparing me a delicious mocktail. When we were seated for dinner, our waitress was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The chef must be very skillful because our food was the best we’ve had on the shore. Everything was perfect!
Lanetta — Google review
As many have said, you will have a delicious meal here. Our veal and halibut were expertly prepared and very tasty. This is subtly prepared food. Ingredients are fresh, like greens and asparagus from a garden outside the door. The warm rolls and unsalted butter might have been a touch bland, but again, subtle. Our server, Rachel, was a delight and steered us toward the fantastic peanut butter and chocolate ganache torte. We truly enjoyed the food and our time here and would be happy to return. It is a year later and we returned for our 44th Anniversary with good friends. The four of us enjoyed every bite of our delicious dinners. Thank you for another fantastic culinary experience.

This is a perfect place for a special occasion or a splurge. I sat at the bar which had a warm, friendly feel. The best part of the meal was the butternut squash soup that was a great mix of sweet and savory. I had a local fish and crab entree that was made with high quality ingredients. I enjoyed the vibe of this place, it was fun at the bar.

Ice cream shop
Brown Dog Ice Cream is an exceptional ice cream shop located in Chincoteague. Customers rave about their delectable offerings, surpassing competitors like Island Creamery and Mister Whippy in both flavor and quality. Although the coffee remains untested, it is expected to outshine even the renowned Mister Whippy. The distance of a one-hour drive is easily justified for a visit to this outstanding establishment.
By far this is the best and most satisfying ice cream you will ever taste in your life. They surprise you with new flavors every now and then but my 3 most favorite and their staples that I have to have when I see it are Banana pudding, pistachio and Black raspberry.. if you’re in town you MUST stop here! All workers are so friendly and they let you taste all flavors if you want. Great value!!!

Without a doubt… Brown Dog One Cream has the “bestest” I’ve-cream anywhere! It’s worth the wait when multiple people wait out in the street on a hot day… worth every minute when you eat the deliciousness to come. It’s not mass produced. The teammates who work there care. This plane epitomizes small town small business Americana at its best!!

A Scoop of Pure Bliss: Brown Dog Ice Cream is Unforgettable! Brown Dog Ice Cream isn't just ice cream; it's an experience, and one that absolutely deserves five stars! From the moment you step up to their charming window, you know you're in for something special. The aroma of fresh waffle cones (made right there!) is intoxicating, and the friendly faces ready to serve you only add to the welcoming atmosphere. But let's talk about the ice cream itself – it's divine. Each flavor is a masterpiece, crafted with obvious care and using high-quality ingredients that truly shine through. Their rotating selection keeps things exciting, ensuring there's always something new and delicious to try, but their classics are equally perfect. Whether you're a fan of rich, creamy chocolates, vibrant fruit sorbets, or unique, inventive combinations, Brown Dog nails it every time. The texture is consistently smooth and velvety, never icy, and the flavors are incredibly well-balanced – never too sweet, just perfectly satisfying. I've tried numerous flavors, and honestly, I haven't found a single one that disappointed. The passion and dedication of the team behind Brown Dog Ice Cream are evident in every scoop. It's clear they love what they do, and that love translates into truly exceptional ice cream. If you're anywhere near this delightful establishment, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the kind of place that makes you smile with every spoonful and leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your current cone. Brown Dog Ice Cream is a true gem and an absolute must-visit for any ice cream lover!

We just got back from our vacation in Cape Charles and I have to say we really enjoyed eating ice cream almost every day we were there. It was fun to eat ice cream after watching the sunset. Can’t wait to come back and try some more flavors. The Dirty Mae was incredible and the Beet, Goat Cheese Pistachio something was even better!! The proof is in the picture. Someone else posted this picture and my Honda Pilot is in the reflection!! LOL

Don't be scared of the longer lines, believe the hype! Great vibe and great ice cream. You can tell it's made with love 🫶🏼 I got the all mixed up which was vanilla bean ice cream with crushed chocolate covered pretzels. Delish!
Casey N — Google review
Really cute spot in Cape Charles! I love the whole vibe that the place gives off with it's wacky/unique flavors and A+ workers. The price, in my opinion, is really good for the amount of ice cream that you get and the fact that it's really close to the beach. I got one scoop of the Raspberry Goat Cheese Pistachio ice cream in a cup for $3.75 (I'm pretty sure there's more to the name, but I forgot it). We also got a scoop of their chocolate and coffee icecream with a sugar cone. I personally thought that the chocolate icecream was absolutely amazing. The coffee icecream was pretty strong for my taste, but you could definitely tell that it was made with good ingredients and fresh because I could both see and taste some coffee grounds in my icecream. If you drink coffee you should try it but I don't like coffee. The raspberry icecream flavor was good but there were many pieces of pistachios in it. I personally would've preferred if there were less pistachios because it was pretty kinda taking over the taste. Would definitely recommend going and I would also recommend getting only one scoop because one scoop was a lot for me.

Our first visit to Brown Dog Ice Cream and Cape Charles but certainly not our last. This quaint ice cream shop embodies a Hallmark small town main street vibe. The curb appeal...I dare you to walk in without patting the bronzed brown dog statue on his head and whispering under your breath, what a good boy! Walking in you're met with friendly faces, carefully curated photos of a beloved chocolate lab, no doubt the muse for this establishment, framed news accolades and a case of the best ice cream in the area. So many amazing and creative flavors to choose from. We could not pass up the Banana Cream Pudding ice cream. It lived up to the hype of its name, rich and creamy with chunks of crust and mushy banana pieces, it was excellent! The portions were generous, the atmosphere was laid back and relaxing with fun upbeat music and the best part of it all, it was affordable. Truly a not so hidden gem in Cape Charles and a must visit when here!

One of the best places ive been to for homemade ice cream. New flavors every so often. Very limited seating inside. Be aware, wait line grows fast! Parking: location is towards center of "main street". Adjacent parking is BACK-IN ANGLED PARKING ONLY! Overall, great ice-cream!

Restaurant
The Oyster Farm Seafood Eatery is a charming, nautical-themed restaurant located on the Chesapeake Bay. With its upmarket seafood offerings and deck dining, it provides a front-row seat to breathtaking bay views. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely lunch on the beachfront deck or savoring a candlelit dinner with someone special, this eatery offers an unforgettable ambiance and attentive staff.
The food was great. The view during sunset was SO BEAUTIFUL. I went to the location when it was empty, so service was speedy.
Goeun — Google review
It’s a shame, such a beautiful location and sub-par service with sub-par food for the evening. This was my first time visiting Oyster Farm and it will be the last. The view from a window seat is amazing! Can’t take anything away from them there. By my goodness, why does it take an hour to get a sandwich? Chicken salad BLT with cold toast, over stuffed lettuce and cold fries took an hour, along with a simple grouper filet sandwich with zero taste. Our server left the food in the kitchen until we finally asked what the hold up was. She was distracted talking with the people she knew. Food comes out in an illogical way here. Complicated meal orders were coming out long after we ordered our food. Even a small tray of raw oysters took a half hour to arrive at the table. This restaurant is an old fashion Hollywood movie set, it has a great facade but when you turn to the side it’s cardboard thin, no substance.
Rob W — Google review
The fresh oysters here are, as expected, large and wonderful. My husband and father-in-law often like to stop here and get them raw as snacks when we're in town and the view of the water and inside of this restaurant is very nice. I've had dinner here a few times years ago but the menu has since changed. Parking is usually easy to find and you can walk around and enjoy the area which is so pretty. This entire area is a marina and boat landing with tours and fishing trips leaving from here and it has some stunning decks and waterfront views to enjoy.
Alison M — Google review
This place should hit it out of the park. There are clam beds and an oyster farm in front of the outdoor deck. A local brewery is down the road. World famous Cherrystone Clams next door. Guess what? They don't source from any of them. Frozen food from Sysco is what you'll get here. The service was abysmal. Two servers, three tables and it took forever for food to arrive. The waitress was at a table talking with friends for most of the time. When the food arrived an hour later it was cold... we sent it all back and went up the highway to an amazing clam shack instead. I don't know if this place is a corporate establishment or what, but it busted my Sunday and they should just close in the offseason if they can't deliver.
Mike K — Google review
Terrible experience. We had reservations, the hostess literally rolled her eyes when we asked if we could sit outside and then she just said no you can’t. There were people outside eating and enjoying the sunset… no explanation at all as to why we couldn’t also sit outside. We payed $235 total and the food sucked to be honest. It was blah, felt like sauce out of a jar. It was cold by the time it got to us. The seafood tasted like frozen crap that was freezer burnt and overcooked. Dry and bland. We spoke to the manager, he told us they are understaffed. Ridiculous, you charge enough money to hire more people. No silverware was on the table, we waited for 45-50 minutes for our food and still there was no silverware on the table. When we asked for silverware while our food was getting even colder than it already was, we were graced with some attitude from a random girl that came up with silverware and gave us a weird face and made excuses “we’ve been rolling silverware as we go”. I will say our server was the only nice person in there. Overall, I would never recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy. It was FREEZING in there as well even with a sweatshirt. Apparently there’s new management that took over recently and I noticed multiple 1 star reviews began recently. I wish I would’ve listened to the reviews and saved my family from a bad experience.
Kendall D — Google review
We waited a good 10 mins to be acknowledged by the waiter. He then tried to sell us dessert before we had even gotten our meal. He never once followed up after our meal or offered us a second round of drinks. Food was great; service, not great.
Patti L — Google review
Very disappointing experience… 5 stars for location, 1 for service. We wanted to enjoy our last day of vacation here, with some bubbles, local oysters and a nice final meal. We ordered our bubbles, together with 2 appetizers: oysters and a tuna dish. Got our bubbles… Our waitress asked if we wanted to put in our mains, which we did, expecting our appetizers to arrive anytime now… but nothing to be seen until our glasses were empty. We asked again for them, and ordered a bottle of wine since we were out of drinks. Suddenly our main courses appear. So we cancelled our appetizers as they seemed to skip them for us anyways… Eventually the wine arrived after my husband already finished his meal. We also got a very poor excuse why the appetizers didn’t come out before our entrees. Also, we were the only clients in the restaurant. Can’t imagine what it’s like when it’s actually busy . On top of that: food was mediocre, no fresh fries… and obviously, we have idea how the oysters are… Sorry but this was a disaster. So much potential, as the location and views are stunning, which made it even more sad.
Emilia D — Google review
We went to have dinner at this very beautiful restaurant, the stunning sea view. We made a reservation first to be able to arrive and be taken care of quickly. We start with some appetizers and drinks before ordering dinner. We were attended by a very kind lady. We also met a worker who helped us at all times in the attentions at the table. The food was very delicious, I loved the fried 🍤 shrimp. We enjoyed the food and the pleasant atmosphere. Everything was delicious. The service is very good and the place is very clean.

Experience a taste of Italy in Cape Charles at Ambrogia Caffé & Enoteca, located on Mason Avenue. The menu offers a variety of Italian dishes such as fresh pasta, panini, fig pie, scallops, Mediterranean salads, chestnut risotto, and Valentines Day crepes. Pair your meal with Pellegrino or an authentic Italian drink. The cafe's rotating menu ensures fresh and authentic cuisine for every visit.
When in Cape Charles, this is the place you need to put on your list. My wife and I love this place! The food is incredibly good! The service felt so personal, we felt like long lost family members being welcomed home. I had the House made Fettuccine with smoked chicken and exotic mushrooms, outta this world. This Italian food is as authentic as it gets. Freshly made from scratch on premise, even down to the last strand of pasta.
Sean — Google review
I was on a trip up to Exmore coming from North Carolina and desired to stop by Cape Charles for a quick bite to eat. I walked in and was greeted by a very rude server, she said that if I didn’t have a reservation that it would be very hard to be seated but the place was completely empty. I politely told her that I was in a bit of a rush and that I didn’t understand why I couldn’t be seated and she was so upset for no reason! Once I finally got seated after lots of trouble I ordered some pasta because I thought it wouldn’t take too long to come out due to the empty restaurant. I ordered the pasta with one small alteration and I was instantly hammered on because “it doesn’t taste good if you change it”. I was so ticked off but I was not in the mood to get in an argument so I just let them make it the way they said would be best. When I finally did get the pasta it was a ridiculously tiny portion and it was crazy expensive. Once I arrived I was aware of the high prices but I expected at least double the portion provided. The pasta wasn’t even that good! It was a very basic dish and I feel as though even I (a very minimally experienced chef) could do way better. More recently I went to the place pane e vino across the street and it was so much better! Although my experience was a few months ago I feel as though an experience like mine is very hard to make up for. I would give this place a zero out of five if I could. Not only because of the food, but mainly because of the TERRIBLE service. I will not be coming here ever again!
Betty K — Google review
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here this year and haven’t stopped talking about it since! It was a world class meal in an intimate and friendly atmosphere with unmatched service. We put it in our top 3 dining experiences ever- with the other 2 being in Paris! Having this experience in such a welcoming and lovely quiet beach town makes it all the better. I especially recommend following the wine suggestions and trying something new. We cannot recommend it enough and cannot wait to come back!
Maggie D — Google review
The finest dining in Cape Charles. Reservations are strongly recommended. We were seated outside on a warm Saturday evening, and had pickled vegetables including olives, a flight of red wines, and the branzino (a whole fish with head and tail). Everything was delicious and the owner and server were very friendly. A great experience in every way.
Chris S — Google review
A wonderful evening! We knew to expect a limited menu and an expectation to share courses before our arrival. Once we established with our server that we anticipated a relaxed evening meal, we had a fantastic experience. The olives introduced us to a red olive that had a slightly smoky flavor which paired beautifully with the cheeses from the designated cheese board, but I wish that two of the 4 cheeses had been given time to warm up. Overall, the portions allowed for easy sharing and the flavors were amazing.
Rebecca R — Google review
Small 7 table restaurant with the best southern Italian food I’ve ever had. Absolutely a five star experience. Food was fresh and delicious. It’s a weekly rotating menu with local ingredients and set up traditional Italian course style. Portions of the main course were elegantly presented and the perfect size. We had the scallops and flounder mains.(Excuse the forkful missing from the flounder). Christine, the owner, maintains a superb wine list! We didn’t try dessert but will definitely be back to Cape Charles just for Ambrogia!
Victoria R — Google review
I love this little Italian restaurant and have eaten here a number of times for dinner. I believe on Sundays they also have brunch. It's small inside so a reservation is your best bet if you want to be sure they can accommodate you. The menu is often changing based upon what is in season and locally available. The owner is Italian and takes a lot of pride in the food and establishment, often coming to every table to speak to everyone. Highly recommend this place. The pasta is made in-house and the fish is fresh. Their desserts are a MUST!

My fiancé and I had brunch here during our vacation, and were so pleased with our meal. The food was delicious, well seasoned, and made with real ingredients. The crepes in particular were delicious. The service was excellent, and the staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back!!

Mason Avenue Bakery is a delightful and cozy downtown bakery that offers a variety of freshly baked goods, including sourdough bread, muffins, scones, cookies, baguettes, and sandwiches. The interior exudes a neat and inviting atmosphere with a grab-and-go table and a display of delectable pastries. While the service may have some hiccups, the staff is friendly. Visitors rave about their exceptional cold brew coffee and generously sized chocolate chip cookies.
Came in around lunch time to see if I could snag some sourdough, sadly they were out but makes total sense for an awesome bakery like this that makes all things in house. The girl at the cash register kindly recommend I get the everything baguette instead and that was a LOVELY suggestion. So delicious, perfectly soft, warm, and crisp around the edges. I wish I had more time on my trip to come back here because I'd love to try all their baked goods!

Hands down the best bakery in town! The coffee cake was absolutely amazing. So delicious and fresh along with the coffee. Most definitely will be back here when I come back to Cape Charles Virginia!

This Cape Charles spot is a total win. The everything croissant with cream cheese is next level—flaky, savory, and just the right amount of tang. You’ll think about it later like an ex you actually miss. The iced coffee? Best in town. Smooth, bold, no weird aftertaste. It’s what your morning deserves. The scones and cinnamon twirls are sweet, comforting, and never dry. You’ll want one of each. Service is fast, friendly, and genuinely warm. Mason Avenue Bakery nails it on every level.

The food at the Mason Avenue Bakery was delicious. However, I only gave it four stars for service because the service was extremely slow. We waited about 15–20 minutes for a bagel, but I will say that the line was out the door. I also only gave four stars for the atmosphere because you can’t sit in there. It’s just a order and go type of place. There are patio tables you can sit at outside the bakery providing you go there when it is warm. Staff was very polite and apologetic for the slow service. But the food was great.

Mason Avenue Bakery has the best baguettes! So good. Their shortbread cookies are also delicious. I'm very lucky to live in the same town as this bakery. I bike 6 miles from my house, and I'm hoping I burn enough calories to offset enjoying their goodies. This is a lovely business in every way.

Small bakery with really delicious sandwiches - I've gotten a few here while spending the day at the beach in the past and love them. Their cookies and baked goods are also phenomenal. It's very small with no where to sit inside, but they have a few wrought iron tables outside the sit nearby and enjoy your goodies if you'd like. Right in the heart of the main part of Cape Charles so an easy in and out to keep shopping and walking or you can grab breakfast or lunch to take to the beach with you.

We ordered three cakes from here for our wedding and they were all amazing! We had the strawberry shortcake, flourless chocolate, and apple cake - our guests loved them all! They were super helpful taking the order a few weeks in advance and helped out our family when they came to pick everything up day-of!

Cape Charles Coffee House is a charming cafe located in an old bank building, offering a stylish and vintage interior with tin ceilings, art deco chandeliers, and rich brass fixtures. It's a perfect spot to enjoy coffee, tea, beer, and wine along with breakfast, sandwiches, and treats. The cafe provides an amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay from every seat in the house.
Fantastic food, great staff, incredible interior! Went for breakfast. Belgian waffle, covered in fruit, and I'm not talking about 3 blueberries, I'm saying sliced banana, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, orange slice. 3 pieces of bacon. Toast that had to have come from one of the local bakeries. Wife had eggs over medium, bacon and rye toast. Everything was perfect. A must go when in Cape Charles.

The place is adorable and the food mediocre. We came in as soon as they opened and the place filled up incredibly quick. There was one waitress named Sarah and she was picking and choosing who she wanted to serve. Example; we had been seated, a party of two, and for at least 15 minutes we showed the staff grace because they were incredibly busy. Several tables came in after us and were helped before us. One table walked in and was helped immediately because they knew the waitress. I understand how small towns work. And I encourage that type of camaraderie. But we waited for 33 minutes before we were even acknowledged. I had to go up to the bar to order our food. Our saving grace was a waitress named Nicole. She helped us immediately. She realized the frustration and did everything she could to make sure we got our drinks as soon as possible. She was personable, incredibly friendly and turned the entire experience around. I was told that they were short staffed. Somebody had decided not to show up, so I understand working in the hospitality business how things go. In the end, I would definitely come back here again because the place has decent food good mimosas and a staff even though stretched thin do what they can. Kudos to Nicole, Sarah please do better.

Had the best french toast of my life! Sure, you've had it before, but not like what they're serving up at CCCH! Delicious with a surprise note. Dine alfresco and let the sun be your shared appetizer.
Angela C — Google review
A unique, cozy yet spacious coffee house. You can get take out coffee or sit down for a delicious dine in breakfast. Staff were cheerful and friendly. We will be back!
Lee A — Google review
Pancakes were delicious! My husband had a breakfast burrito that was also very good. The staff were very kind and working hard. Amy was our waitress and Jeffery assisted. They have staff checking the plates before the food goes out to ensure it is correct. It was very good! Breakfast was the best.
Cassie H — Google review
Best breakfast in Cape Charles with excellent service! We got take out breakfast sandwiches another day and they were delicious!
Cézanne C — Google review
Excellent spot for breakfast when visiting Cape Charles. Hot chocolate was delicious, and I loved the waffles with bacon! You can't go wrong with breakfast/brunch at this cute coffee house. (Also, if you happen to be a reader of romantic suspense books, this quiet cozy town is the inspiration for USA Today Bestselling Author Maryann Jordan's Baytown Boys series. It was very cool to experience some of the spots that were described in her books.)

I recently visited on July 3rd. I have heard a lot of good things about this place, but I didn't have a good experience. I asked the hostess if we needed to wait or if there were any open tables. She didn't say anything, but she pointed to a table. We sat down and ordered coffees, and they were good. I ordered a Caesar salad and a wrap, and they were disappointing for the price and the 35 minutes we waited. We also didn't get any water or silverware.I do not think we will go back but that's my choice!!

Coastal Baking Co. is a family-run bakery in Cape Charles that aims to share their love for cooking and baking with the community. They prioritize using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and traditional methods to ensure top-notch quality. The bakery offers a variety of delectable treats such as croissants, Linzer cookies, scones, and muffins. Additionally, they serve breakfast and lunch year-round with occasional winter breaks.
One word - amazing! I loved everything about this place and can’t wait to go back. I got an almond croissant and coconut smith cake and both were phenomenal. My husband got biscuits and gravy and blueberry muffin and said they both were to die for. Everything there looked so tasty and I wish I could’ve eaten everything but alas I will have to return to try more!
Sarah C — Google review
After loving every single thing we ordered off the breakfast menu our first visit, we returned 2 days later to enjoy more before we left town! There is plenty of outdoor seating and a small play station to entertain the kiddos. Food, service, and atmosphere were amazing!
Kaylin M — Google review
This place is amazing! Me and my girlfriends went here every day on our weekend trip. The coffee, quiche, donuts, and danish were amazing (just to name a few). And the service was excellent. The lady ringing us up (who I would assume is the owner) was extremely friendly and personable. I can’t wait to come back here and try the lunch foods!
Samantha L — Google review
We have the privilege of living locally and frequenting Coastal Baking Co. on the regular, but sometimes we are still surprised in the most delightful way! Despite it being a busy, busy Memorial Day weekend, when I stopped by to pick up a pie I’d ordered, Nicholas was behind the counter cheerfully waiting on a line of customers (he’s a national treasure!). My turn and I was rung up and on my way with not just my pie, but my favorite blueberry cream cheese pastries. Now, can we talk about that pie? Cassie roasted those beautiful local strawberries until they were a luscious, deeply intense, jammy filling of springtime joy. It was heaven on a plate. Berry, berry delicious filling. If you find yourself in Cape Charles, go over to see Cassie and crew at Coastal Baking Co. from breakfast biscuits to muffins, Indian dishes and massive sandwiches, you can’t go wrong. Grab an outside table or take it to the beach. Heck, take it home and eat it, but don’t miss the opportunity for some great cooking and even greater hospitality!
Kristin M — Google review
Oh man, what can I say about this place?? Cassie and crew deliver the GOODS!! Everything homemade and amazing! The curried chicken sandwich is the best thing I’ve eaten in Cape Charles! It’s always our first stop when we get here and our last stop on the way out!
Anthony D — Google review
It’s a great place to come for food and coffee, but they have no bathroom.
Chris M — Google review
Food is awesome here the service was not. I witness the lady behind the counter. Treat several other customers with respect and asked if they wanted their food here to go or if they needed any utensils or napkins. when it was my turn to order she stared at me.i also had the correct amount of money in my hand cash. She looked at it. I counted it out in front of her and told me I didn't. So I pulled out my card and then she told me it's finicky but everybody else who paid with card she didn't mention that to them. Didn't ask me if I needed anything else if I was going to eat it here or to go or ask me anything. When my food was ready as I witness her actually hand the food to other people. She set my food down shoved utensils and napkins, sticking out of the box and then walked away. She didn't even set it on the counter by the register. She said it it on a ledge by the kitchen. Upon leaving I walked back inside to throw away trash. She stopped mid-conversation and asked me did I need anything. Let's be honest she didn't like the way I looked. She did not place my food on the counter. She placed it on the little wooden ledge closest to the kitchen for this away from the register.
Dana M — Google review
Food quality:5/5. Fantastic chocolate chip cookie and raspberry danish. Charleston chips were in ample supply as well as other delicious looking baked goods. Bakery was definitely popular! Experience: 2/5. A very small bakery and there was about a 25 minute wait outside to get in on a Friday morning. Staff was not friendly or welcoming.

Perfect sweet treat for a beautiful day! Just the right amount of flavor and the shaved ice is fine and melts at the touch of your lips. Shaved ice flavors were grand and the shaved ice was served in eco-friendly containers... what more can you ask for!?
Rosa C — Google review
Charming, no frills shed serving shaved ice. It was relatively cheap and they had plenty of flavors. It was easy to mix and match different flavor combinations. Everything tasted phenomenal. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area

Nice shave ice shop on Peach Street. Several different flavors including “tiger blood.” You can get up to three flavors per serving with the option to add sweet milk to your order. They also have sugar free options. Benches and picnic tables if you want to hang out and enjoy your shave ice.

Peach Beach rules! We look forward to it all year. The ice is perfectly shaved and the flavors are plentiful. The staff is always friendly and even on a hot busy day it's worth the wait.

Having lived in Hawaii for over 10 years, it was such a treat to have this delicious shave ice in my new home state. There are so many fun flavors and great vibe in the space. Me and the kids enjoyed cooling down with our shave ice at the picnic tables on a hot summer day.

Peach Beach Shave Ice Shack is *the* spot on a hot summer day. Lots of flavors, regular and diet options, and plentiful portions. Take some time away from the Cape Charles beach, walk to Peach street and get yourself a cup of heavenly goodness! :)

The ice was so fluffy it was like snow, and the flavoring didn’t taste too sugary or artificial. Best shaved ice ever!!

Dont judge by the size of the shack...their shaved ice is packed with flavor. I personally love the passion fruit flavor. The staff is super friendly and the inside of this shack is the cutest! We stopped by on our way to the beach...it was a nice little treat while walking in the heat.

Bar & grill
Located on Peach Street, near Salt and Sand Family Restaurant, AJs Bar & Grill offers a variety of delectable dishes such as shrimp quesadilla, grilled pork ribeye, pasta, smash burgers, and waffles. They also serve a delightful soup of the day. From the moment you enter the establishment, everything is excellent - from the warm welcome to their ability to accommodate large strollers. The service is exceptional and the drinks are top-notch.
The best hamburger I’ve ever had in my life and that covers a lot of burgers. The fries were also delicious, as was the homemade ranch and burger sauce. It was an amazing lunch. If you are in Cape Charles, this place is a must.

Went here for Mother's Day dinner. Had a wonderful local waitress who was very attentive and nice. The food came out promptly and it was very good. We got 2 of the specials of the day and a smash burger. All of it was very fresh and delicious.
Jeanette B — Google review
Without any idea of what this place was I just opened the door and walked in. It was a relatively busy evening on a Saturday night, the bar was full and so were most of the tables. The hostess was so kind to find two seats for me and my fiancé although we didn’t have reservations. We were shown an upstairs seating area overlooking the bar. A very kind and humorous server approached us with full knowledge of all the beers on tap. We didn’t eat anything only had beer. But, the service was incredible and everyone was accommodating. We will definitely come back for a meal sometime.
Rob W — Google review
Amazing food! Staff shared that everything on the menu has to be tested for 3 months by customers with good feedback to stay on. Kind, friendly and caring servers. Enjoyed sitting at the railing upstairs while listening to lovely jazz music gently in the background. Highly recommend!

Our waitress Peyton was very nice as well as the hostess who seated us. The Bayside nachos, garlic shrimp piccata & grilled pork ribeye were all delish. 🤤 Would definitely go back & highly recommended. ✔️

Great food, Great service! This was our second visit to AJ'S. We made it a point to stop on our way north. Loved the Shrimp & Spinach Salad. My husband enjoyed the fish sandwich! Will visit again.

A must visit restaurant in Cape Charles - welcoming to families of all ages (2 years through 70), food was delish, prices are reasonable, people are friendly, bar drinks are made well, strawberry lemonade was refreshing. Ok, where to begin on our lovey trip to AJs...the staff from beginning to end were super friendly, accommodating, personable, and efficient. It is a cute pub atmosphere with a great bar. The drinks were made very well - no skimping, well mixed! The food, yum: the burger was great, wings were full of meat and nice flavor, veggies were nicely seasoned, sandwiches were very tasty, and kids meals were same quality. Great ingredients and comfort food style. Would recommend and definitely visit again!

Wonderful French bakery! Baker/Owner Louise was so very helpful and sweet to us! My friend said the French toast with Chocolate is the best thing she's ever put in her mouth! Also got Cruffin with lemon cream and cinnamon sugar. We have to go back and try everything!
Donna B — Google review
Highly recommend! Super nice owners and staff &, of course, excellent pastries and bread. We got the cruffins, lemon strawberry danishes, and rosemary bread - all so good. Make sure to get there early for the goodies.
Gabrielle R — Google review
I first tried the Cape Charles sandwich and was blown away by the delicious ingredients and their fresh baguettes. This brought me back for a second visit when I tried the cinnamon twirl and rainbow croissant, both of which were just as artistic as they were scrumptious. The service is excellent, the bakery is beautiful, and most importantly, the food is second-to-none. This is a must-stop place when in Cape Charles! Will definitely be coming back for a third visit as soon as possible!

If you have zero desire to try the best peanut butter cookies on the planet... than.. ya... avoid this place. But if you want peanut butter cookies so good that you'll want to slap your momma... then The Bakery on Mason is a MUST when in Cape Charles. Seriously, get them. The cinnamon twist things are phenomenal. Like a cross between a croissant, a cinnamon roll and a deal with the devil. I buy like 8 every time I go. The other thing I always get is the breakfast muffin or the cruffin. That's a lie. I just made it sound like I get either/or. I get both. Along with peanut butter cookies and the cinnamon twists. I gained 5 delicious pounds just writing this review.
Scott F — Google review
Our first stop in Cape Charles. Incredible sandwiches, the bread was amazing. Ate our lunch outside on cute patio. Then went back to get a cinnamon twirl- SO GOOD. Cannot day enough good things. We will be coming back tomorrow!
Kelsey C — Google review
As good as it gets for breakfast and lunch. Made from scratch every morning. The baguettes remind me of the ones you’ll find in Paris. My wife and I have taken a few trips to Cape Charles and every time we have to go to The Bakery on Mason.
Erik D — Google review
I’ve had the pleasure of eating at the Bakery on Mason a few times over the years now. Though I can honestly say I dislike their hours of operations, but that’s only because I want them to be available more often. Being able to only eat here once or twice a week is simply not enough. I can’t think of a single thing they’ve served that can’t be described as “sublime”, “mouth watering”, or “perfection”. To the chef/staff, please keep up the good work.
Jake N — Google review
The baguette with my turkey and swiss was so hard and burnt that I could barely chew it. I went back and the staff said that was the only bread they had for that day and it was all dark and hard. They turned my sandwich into a salad for me and gave me a complimentary cookie. I was kind of disappointed cuz I heard they had really great sandwiches and great bread.
Catherine D — Google review
We had blueberry muffins today and they were delicious—melt in your mouth and make you say “wow!” delicious. Everything here is consistently exceptionally good, because the owners really know the art of baking and have passed on that passion and knowledge to their staff. They use the best ingredients and don’t take any shortcuts and you can taste the difference. We have a world-class bakery in Cape Charles!

Ice cream shop
Cowlick's Creamery is a charming town with an invigorating ice cream shop that satisfies any craving for cool treats. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the alluring scent of fresh ice cream. The menu may be limited, but it reflects the commitment to using only the freshest ingredients. Unlike conventional ice cream parlors like Baskin Robbins, Cowlick's Creamery offers a variety of unique flavors that delight the taste buds.
Very creamy and yummy ice cream. Good selection, cute decor, friendly and helpful staff. I only like small amounts of ice cream at a time (I know, I'm broken), and I usually have trouble getting places to give me a small portion (even if I pay full) so I don't have to throw it away and they gave me a kiddie cone that was PERFECT! Without any hassle. Plus love the COWch.
V F — Google review
Delicious ice cream. Would give a 4.5 for limited flavor options BUT I enjoyed it and the waffle cones were fresh and tasty. The caramel crunch ice cream has biscoff cookies in it which was top notch paired with vanilla. Price is a little steep but expected for the area. Nice spot!
A. J — Google review
It was good - they had 4 Italian ice flavors and 2 dairy free options. The lady told me they always have a dairy free option (they had vanilla and another flavor). They also have gluten free cones available.
W O — Google review
I went to Cowlicks Creamery and got one scoop of ice cream in a cone. Except… there was literally no ice cream in the cone—just a scoop plopped on top like they were balancing it for a circus act. When I went back inside to point out there was nothing in the cone, they gave me a blank, almost annoyed stare, acted like I was the problem, and then actually laughed when I walked out. I have never once been to an hand dipped ice cream place and received a sad cone like this. Unprofessional, rude, and apparently proud of serving half-empty cones. Save your money and go to Brown Dog, or anywhere else that takes customer service—and basic ice cream scooping—seriously.
Savannah W — Google review
You come across this delightful town and craving some cool ice cream. This is definitely the place to come too. You walk inside and are just welcomed with the sweet smell of ice cream. There is a limited menu of the ice cream but that goes to show how fresh the ice creams really are. The flavors are very unique, it’s not usual flavors you would see in Baskin Robbins or other ice cream places you would usually visit. The taste of the ice cream is self is incredible, it’s very rich and tastes absolutely sweet. This Ice Cream place is definitely worth coming to if you are in the area of Virginia! I came here from King William on vacation from the 12th to the 14th, and I've gotta say this is one of the best ice cream places I've ever been to! I can't remember what I got there though, but it's a great place!
Jett C — Google review
Such a fun experience here! Ice cream is delicious and staff is friendly. Highly recommend trying the caramel cookie butter ice cream you WILL NOT regret it

It is nice and clean. Unlike their competition who act as if it's end days, they allow you to sit down and enjoy some A/C! I loved all the cow details and decor.
