Modern French restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
La Colombe Restaurant is an elegant eatery located in an upmarket vineyard, offering contemporary cuisine that combines local ingredients with French influences. The restaurant is headed by Chef Scot Kirton, who was named Chef of the Year in 2015. Nestled on the side of a mountain and surrounded by lush greenery, it exudes a romantic ambiance, making it perfect for a special evening out.
We were blown away by our evening here. This isn't just dining, it's a show where the food is the star. The modern French cuisine was inventive and absolutely exquisite. The real magic was sharing this theatrical culinary journey with good friends it elevated the entire experience. A must visit 3 Star Michelin restaurant for anyone looking for something truly memorable.

We visited La Colombe in Cape Town for our 30th anniversary, and it was truly one of the best meals of our lives. Reservations are essential — we booked months in advance, and it's easy to see why it’s so in-demand. Located in a gated estate on the slopes of Constantia, the setting is peaceful and exclusive. The interior is elegant and minimal, with white walls and beautiful bird’s nest–like light fixtures — a subtle nod to the name ("La Colombe" means "The Dove" in French). From the moment we arrived, the experience felt special. We were greeted with a box of artisanal chocolates for our anniversary — a thoughtful touch. The tasting menu (11 courses) is mostly set, with a choice of main course and an optional wine pairing from an extensive list. Each course was a work of art, presented with care and creativity. Some dishes were finished at the table, with staff explaining the process in detail. Every plate came on handcrafted ceramics designed to match the dish — both visually stunning and delicious. Locally sourced ingredients were the highlight throughout. This isn’t a quick dinner — the experience spans several hours and is meant to be savored. If you're looking for something truly exceptional in Cape Town, La Colombe delivers in every way.

La Colombe in Cape Town delivered an unforgettable experience for our family as we celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with our three kids on July 24, 2025. From the moment we arrived, every detail, every flavor, every moment was crafted with such precision and heart that it became more than a meal; it became a memory. The food is truly extraordinary. Each course was a beautiful blend of creativity and flavor, presented like artwork but tasting even better than it looked. The progression of dishes felt like a culinary journey through South Africa and beyond, with surprises that delighted both us and our kids. Every bite was bold, thoughtful, and absolutely delicious. My favorite was the Wild Boar Snacks, Tuna ‘La Colombe’, and the Karoo Wagyu, Truffle, Broccoli, Short Rib. Yum! La Colombe exceeded my every expectation. It was the perfect place to mark such a meaningful milestone, and our entire family walked away so grateful for the experience. If you’re looking for a restaurant that delivers world-class cuisine with impeccable hospitality, this is it. A true Cape Town gem.

The most amazing meal of our lives! We went for lunch as a special treat for our honeymoon trip around the cape area. This was a special reservation made as a gift for us. It will go down as an amazing memory. We upgraded to the chefs menu with the boutique wine pairing and couldn’t be happier with the meal! Everyone was so friendly at the restaurant and the food was superb!

La Colombe, Constantia – A Feast for the Senses An exquisite experience that engages every sense. The breathtaking drive from the gate to the front door is only the beginning. It was raining when we arrived, and there’s something about dusk and rain that always stirs my soul. We were greeted with umbrellas at the Uber door and whisked into the warm glow of the dining room. La Colombe means The Dove in French, and its “Nest” theme carried through the entire space — a serene, visual poem of nature and elegance. Then came the service. I have dined in Michelin-star restaurants all over the world, but this one, I have to say, is the best I have experienced. Earlier in the day, while on the city sightseeing bus, I listened through my headphones as the guide spoke about the wines of the Constantia region — Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Grenache Blanc. I smiled at the first two, as they’ve long been my favorites, but I had never heard of Grenache Blanc before. So imagine my delight when, that very evening, I had the pleasure of tasting The Foundry’s 2021 Grenache Blanc at La Colombe — a grape rarely showcased on its own. Subtle, layered, and memorable, it was a discovery that spoke volumes simply by being chosen for La Colombe’s pairing. I’m not a big eater, and the idea of a seven- or nine-course meal initially felt daunting, but each dish arrived with such grace and beauty that time seemed to dissolve. Three hours later, I realized I had savored every bite. Each course carried its own identity — playful, precise, and full of intention. Because I cannot pick a favorite food ( each one had its distinct characteristics) if I had to choose a favorite aspect of the evening, it would be the service itself: attentive without intrusion, artful without pretense. Their slogan says it all Food is our theatre. We hope you enjoy the show. Even the smallest details delighted me — from the bird-bath–shaped hand basin to the perfectly timed pacing between courses. Dining here felt less like a meal and more like a meditation on hospitality. We traveled from Jamaica and the United States to celebrate a family achievement, and this dinner at La Colombe was the perfect culmination of our time in Cape Town. A rare harmony of setting, taste, and soul — truly a feast for the senses.

This was by far my favorite food experience in Cape Town. Expensive but so worth it. Highly recommend adding on the cellar experience for a unique exclusive treat. We did a bottle of wine vs the wine pairings, and really glad we did. We were stuffed by the time we left. Beautiful presentation, excellent service - so fun!
Payal A — Google review
Simply put… Amazing. What an experience - the food, the service, the plating… you can truly see there’s great care in every detail and all is thought to enhance the experience of the visitor. Everything is delicious - hard to name a favorite but I’m torn between the Namibian Crab and the La Colombe Tuna. Nasser, our waiter, was brilliant and very attentive from start to finish.
Fábio A — Google review
This was a fabulous, gastronomic experience. The ambiance & service was par excellence! From we walked in until we walked out, it was a pleasurable experience. Every course was memorable and you couldn't anticipate how it could get better, but it did. Our group of six were all equally impressed. No detail was overlooked. It's an experience worth having at least once in your life!

Nestled in the picturesque Constantia, Foxcroft Restaurant and Bakery offers a casually elegant-industrial setting where guests can savor exquisitely prepared international fusion cuisine. The seasonal menu features a variety of tapas options with flavors ranging from harissa to ponzu, as well as traditional mains like chalmar beef with duck fat fries and cafe au lait sauce.
Second time visiting and it wasn’t a disappointment the second time around. A quiet Saturday evening visit - much busier in the summer. The food has stayed consistently good. Inventive and tasty, beautifully presented and a true experience. Allow a couple of hours for the full experience. Oh and there was a non alcoholic sparkling wine to start with by the glass which is so good to see in the winelands.

This restaurant was incredible! The atmosphere has an awesome vibe and decor. The staff are extremely attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. The chef at this restaurant is outstanding! Their selection of ingredients and pairings in each dish was wildly flavorful, unique, and full of exciting textures. We thoroughly enjoyed the chef’s full tasting menu. Thank you to everyone at Foxcroft who made our dinner in Constancia one we will never forget. This is an absolute must restaurant to try!
Michelle A — Google review
First time visiting Foxcroft and it was specifically for the chocolate croissants which were recommended to us. We had to try them and luckily when we got there which was around 9am there were two left. They often sell out by 8am. We had the croissants and Cappuccino's. The coffee here is really good. Only thing that happened is a friend ordered a red Cappuccino - large and it came in a small cup. Also I'd suggest that instead of the one-use takeaway cups, rather serve coffee in ceramic mugs to customers in the morning who sit down. The chocolate croissants are highly recommend. The pastry is chocolate and inside the croissant is some melted white and dark choclate. It is crispy and buttery and there are so many layers. It's superb!

We had an amazing lunch at Foxcroft and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our waiter, who was not only attentive and professional but also genuinely lovely—welcoming, funny, and made us feel right at home. We enjoyed the Spring Special Lunch Menu, which was beautifully balanced in both flavour and portion. Each course was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing fresh seasonal ingredients and creative combinations. For the quality and experience, the pricing felt very fair—excellent value for a fine dining experience. The wine recommendation paired perfectly with our meal, adding another layer of enjoyment to the afternoon. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined yet relaxed dining experience in the heart of Constantia. We'll definitely be back!

In typical Cape Town fashion, and with contrast to my last review, it was a beautiful, sunny winter’s day. Once again, I would be making my way to the very laanie suburb, Constantia. No judgment at all, I hope to have a house there one day with an unspeakable number of cats. Yes, you read that correctly. I want to be a cat lady with enough rooms for each cat. Swiftly moving on, my business partner and I had the pleasure of dining at Foxcroft for lunch on Thursday afternoon. We arrived and were greeted by the host. It was a stunning day, so we sat outside in the courtyard. I really liked the relaxed atmosphere, it was peaceful and gave off the feeling of being on holiday abroad. We were surrounded by greenery and had just the right amount of sunlight shining down on us. Soon enough, our waitress came to introduce herself and explain the menu. They’re running a winter lunch special: three courses for R595 per person. Naturally, we went with that. We ordered some sparkling water (obviously, fun water) and settled into our seats. What a lovely way to spend the day, I thought to myself, out loud. The food! The unexpected bread course arrived, and if you’ve been reading my reviews, you know I absolutely love bread, and this bread is out of this world. Let me paint you a picture: a cloud-like rectangular shape I last saw in geometry class. I couldn’t remember the name… Actually, give me a sec, I’m going to Google it. There we go! A rectangular prism, topped with a thick herb dusting. I broke off a piece and smothered it in the garlic labneh. Fun fact about me, I’m not a lover of butter. The labneh almost dissolved into the warm, fluffy focaccia. First bite, catapulted to heaven. Creamy roasted garlic, salty herb crust, freshly baked bread. Need I say more? Then came a trio of amuse bouches. Apologies, I can’t remember exactly what everything was. I think one was an aubergine taco thing? It was okay. The fried cheese ball was decent, can’t really go wrong with fried cheese, but not too memorable. The duck croquette, however, was small but mighty. It sat on a dollop of pesto-style sauce that added a lovely freshness. For my starter, I ordered the cauliflower parfait. The plating reminded me of a painting I saw on First Thursdays. What I’m trying to say is, it was very pretty. It came with a semicircle of flatbread. Personally, I feel it should’ve been a full circle, there was more parfait than bread. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Rich and luscious, it mimicked the flavour of tahini. The sweetness from the sultanas added a mince pie nostalgia that I loved. Then: the beef cheek cavatelli. Fresh pasta (made that morning), coated in a rich, meaty bone marrow sauce, topped with generous parmesan shavings. It screamed comfort. It was hearty, and, as my ex once called me, full bodied. Somehow the pasta was al dente and melt in your mouth at the same time. The portion was perfect: rich enough to satisfy, small enough to leave you wanting one more bite. Now for my absolute favourite. I don’t say this lightly, it’s in my top three eats of 2025. The Thai BBQ duck. I loved every element. Juicy duck with a crispy fat layer (which I usually avoid, but not this time). It came with sticky rice, which at first confused me, until I realised it was a scoop for the red curry sauce. That sauce, sweet, spicy, velvety, glued to the rice like a dream. It took me straight back to a hidden spot in Bali. Not the touristy kind. This dish was something special. Just when we thought it was over, the kitchen surprised us with a koesister filled with chai custard. Scrumptious and generously filled. The spices, the sweetness, it was the perfect way to end a divine afternoon of eating. Overall, I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the winter special. And definitely order the duck, it’s phenomenal. Whether it's rainy or sunny, they’ve got you covered. The courtyard is gorgeous, but the interior is just as beautiful and inviting. Thank you Foxcroft for a fantastic afternoon. Till next time!

From the moment we walked in, the warm and professional welcome set the tone for what became an unforgettable dining experience. The atmosphere was refined yet comfortable. The service was impeccable – attentive without being intrusive – and the staff made us feel genuinely valued. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, showcasing creativity and balance from start to finish. It wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience – one that engaged all the senses. From the welcoming start to the last bite, everything was exceptional. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true fine dining experience.

We decided last minute to try for a table and were lucky to get one outside on the terrace. We chose the reduced menu and wine paring which is made up of two starters, a main and dessert. The food was delicious with lots of interesting and original flavours coming through each dish. Lovely local wines too. Our waiter, Braden, was great. He managed the perfect balance of interaction and seems to really know his wine. All round it was a perfect evening

Beau Constantia is a picturesque wine farm located near Cape Town, offering stunning views of False Bay and two mountain ranges from its vineyard slopes. The estate features a restaurant called Zama, known for its vibrant decor, delicious food, and extensive cocktail list, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a quick lunch. Beau Constantia is part of the Constantia Fresh initiative that emphasizes freshness in wine, showcasing the products of various renowned wine producers from the region.
One of my favorite wineries after going to 7 total! Amazing wine and friendly people, plus wonderful scenery.
Matthew R — Google review
Absolutely horrified. As we all know Cape Town weather is quite the queer one. With the wind and hills that took my hairstyle apart from the car to the tasting room , We were greeted with an atmosphere that went from chit chattering and wine, i by then, anticipated to be tasting - to complete silence. We were asked if we made a booking and were then told where to go sit instead. Round 2 of me and the wind. We were seated where the wind did not even give me a chance to sit properly. Mortifying customer care. Any individual in customer service would not want that experience first and foremost within seconds of being seated for their customers or are the staff just oblivious? I could not even look at the menu with the way my hair kept blowing in my face. We were seated at the edge of the deck and the gentleman just continued to press what we wanted to order. I worked at this farm in this year as a photographer and had an exceptional experience from the level service whilst shooting. However after starting off my birthday like that, I can’t say the same anymore

Beau Constantia is an absolutely magical place to visit in the Constantia Valley. The estate sits high on the slopes and the views are breathtaking. Rolling vineyards stretch out before you. The distant mountains form a perfect backdrop, from the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in the beauty. The wines were exceptional and our experience was made even more special by an amazing server who guided us through the tasting. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain each wine, helping us discover our favourites and making the experience feel personal and thoughtful. The food was just as impressive. We ordered a cheese board that was perfectly presented and full of flavour, as well as some fresh, delicious oysters. To our delight, there was also a taco truck on the estate, and the tacos were incredible. They were soft shell, not hard, with generous fillings and wonderful seasoning. This time we sat outside as there was a private function inside, which made the experience even more enjoyable, and previously we had the best duck salad here, which we still talk about. Beau Constantia combines exceptional wine, outstanding food, spectacular scenery, and warm, thoughtful service. It is an experience that will stay with you for a long time and is a must-visit for anyone in Cape Town who enjoys fine wine, great food, and beautiful surroundings. To be honest I preferred the wines and great service here more than at groot Constantia🫠

Chef Warehouse at Beau Constantia is truly exceptional—one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Cape Town. Along with Tinswallow, it stands out as the best among Chef Warehouse venues. The setting is breathtaking, and the service is outstanding. The quality of the food is superb, from the main dishes to the desserts, each item is a testament to culinary excellence. This place is incredible in every aspect, highly recommended!

Highly disappointed - Imagine deciding to buy a bottle of wine (At the wine farm) and they decide to package your wine in this ugly brown paper bag 😷 ?! And apparently they only have decent packing when you buy 3 or more bottles. This definitely ruined my experience. Please do better.

Had visitors from Germany and booked a wine tasting..we had arguably the best seat in the restaurant overlooking False Bay. Our guest was as sommelier student hoping to get a taste of SA best wines, and BC did not disappoint. A knowledgeable host. Excellent wines, the vibe was Electric and the place fully booked. Thank you. Just turn up early, we had a parking issue the place was absolutely packed.

Absolutely amazing food – truly one of the best meals we’ve had in Cape Town. The setting is beautiful, nestled among the vineyards of Groot Constantia, and the atmosphere is both relaxed and welcoming. The highlight? The ostrich. Perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor – it was simply divine. Every dish was thoughtfully presented and delicious, showcasing quality ingredients and skillful preparation. The service was equally impressive: warm, genuine, and full of laughter. The staff added a personal touch, sharing jokes and making us feel completely at home. To top it all off, Jonkershuis offers exceptional value for money. This is a place that delivers world-class food and hospitality without the pretentiousness – just honest excellence in every bite and moment. Highly, highly recommended. We’ll definitely be back.

We walked in just before 5 and told immediately on entering (before even being seated) that the kitchen closes at 5 so we better be quick. Even though closing time is 6pm. Even so we made a quick decision and landed on a cheese board and some samoosas. The waitress was pleasant enough, but eager to cash up. It was nice to sit next to a heater and at a place with an actual indoor fire going as it was cold and miserable on the day we went.

Pure fulfillment at Jonkershuis Constantia! 🍷 The view over the lush, rolling vineyards of Groot Constantia is simply breathtaking and made the perfect backdrop for lunch. But the stars of the show were the food (absolutely amazing!) and the exceptional service from our wonderful waitress. Jonkershuis is such a versatile spot — sometimes I come for a relaxed breakfast, other times for a wine tasting, and it’s always a great experience. The setting is beautiful, with plenty of space to enjoy being outdoors, and it has such a welcoming atmosphere. A lovely place to spend time whether you’re starting your day or winding down with a glass of wine

Excellent food, good wine selection, friendly service, nice views. Given that it's on the Groot Constantia estate you might think that it's a 'tourist factory' but definitely not. Plenty of tables too so I got seated no problem even on a busy Saturday lunchtime.

Good fresh eggs and toast with earl gray tea, warming up by the fire place . Can only wish the tea was brewed instead of a tea bag and the coffee served hot! A walk among the vineyards takes u there, under the fresh morning breeze. The museum nearby opens at 10.00 am.

Blanko is a modern Italian restaurant located in the historic Alphen Hotel in Constantia. The restaurant offers a variety of contemporary Italian dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The chic interior and beautiful outdoor seating provide a stylish yet laid-back environment for diners to enjoy their meals. With multiple dining rooms adorned with an impressive collection of South African art, Blanko offers a pleasing and reasonably priced menu featuring classics like white anchovies, veal escalopes, and fresh ravioli.
The Blanko team truly saved our day! We had planned an outdoor picnic for our engagement party with family and friends, but as soon as it started raining, things looked bleak. Within just 20 minutes, the incredible team at The Blanko rescued our celebration! They quickly made space for 15 of us, set up tables and chairs so that everyone had a seat and felt included, and welcomed us with genuine warmth. It was amazing how, on such short notice, they turned what could have been a disaster into a beautiful and memorable experience. We’re so grateful — they went above and beyond, and we can’t recommend them highly enough!

The only 5 star is the atmosphere and the setting. The rest are a big 0. The food has no taste at all. You can feel that the cook (not chef) has no feeling or understanding of food and is probably given some instruction to follow. Which will never work for food. You need to have love for food your cooking to come out nice. The mussels were not fresh, the stake was overcooked and I sent it back. And canceled it. The salad was under seasoned, and the shrimps were bland. The only item that did make sense was the olives and the bread.

We sat indoors where they had heaters inside. The food was great, and portion sizes reasonable.Highly recommend the garlic prawn bap, as well as the calamari starter. Service was a tad slow and the food took a while but not too bad. Lovely atmosphere with a cozy and chic set up.

We experienced one of their Supper Club dinners with a cocktail pairing. Its was absolutely stunning! Whether you are booking one of the fine dining events or just coming to eat off their normal menu, the team always takes good care of you and makes sure your glass is always topped up. The Supper Club menu was superb and I enjoyed pairing it with cocktails instead of wine. A nice touch.

Simons Restaurant is a dining destination located on the picturesque Groot Constantia Wine Estate, offering a blend of Cape cuisine with an international flair. Housed in a historic building, the restaurant provides a stunning vineyard-view terrace where guests can savor their meals while enjoying the scenic beauty of the surroundings. The menu at Simons showcases the freshest local ingredients prepared with creativity and precision, promising a memorable culinary experience.
A Delightful Culinary Experience at Simon’s Restaurant From the moment I walked in, Simon’s restaurant offered an exceptional dining experience. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was attentive and helpful, and the food was simply outstanding. The steak was perfectly fried, cooked to perfection with a rich, savory flavor that melted in my mouth. The side dishes complemented the meal beautifully, each bursting with taste and carefully prepared. Every bite was a joy! The staff provided impeccable service—always available, friendly, and ensuring that every need was met with professionalism and warmth. It truly made the experience even more special. Simon’s restaurant is a place I’d love to return to. If you’re looking for excellent food, fantastic service, and a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend it!

Set amongst the vineyards of Cape Town's iconic Groot Constantia winery is this fantastic baroque themed restaurant. Scrumptious dishes, prepared from local ingredients and exquisitely presented, are offered with something to suit everyone's taste. Whether you are a carnivore or a vegan their menu has something to delight your tastebuds. All meals come with a suggested wine pairing of both local and international wines. Make sure that you take in the eclectic baroque decor as much as the beauty of the natural surroundings.

Besides having some of the most gorgeous views in the Cape wine region, this little hole-in-the-wall coffee stall had seriously top tier biscuits. I can't say I recommend the chocolate chip one (sorry, it was not very good). However, the oat cookie (or ANZAC style) is the best I have ever had! Get the oat cookie or regret it till you die! Cappuccinos were ok. Service was fabulous and the barista very kindly obliged to adding chocolate powder to my cappuccino (essential, obviously).

We met friends for lunch at Simon’s and loved everything about this place. From the uniquely themed interior, stunning backdrop, extensive menu and friendly staff this restaurant is a must visit. Despite being very busy the service was great! The menu also has a wide variety with the food prepared really well. We visited when the weather was dull and rainy and we enjoyed the cosy fireplace and ambience. An ideal venue for group functions.

The location is superb, unrivaled. Great spot to savior the Groot Constantia labels, and beer. Mains Food is good, not great. Apologies it doesnt reflect the pricing structure. Service and Staff is very very classy.

This is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant, a sophisticated mix of superb food, art, antique, flowers and more. A must visit! We came for dinner and arrived a bit late—turns out they actually close at 10, not 11 like we thought. But the staff still welcomed us in with a smile. Huge thanks for the amazing hospitality and kindness—it really made our evening special!

Went for dinner and to watch “That Seventies Band” - the food was pretty expensive and not totally fantastic but the band made it all worthwhile - they were really outstanding and it was an awesome night out - very highly recommended if you like 70’s music - we walked away feeling great!

Breakfast at Simons...Stunning views,Delicious food .Hot beverages arrived quickly and the food followed shortly thereafter.Eggs Royale was lovely .Hollandaise sauce was not to rich as it sometimes can be and the Vegan Shashuka was a good portion , something different and quite flavourful. Waiter was very friendly.Weather turned out to be lovely which allowed us to walk around and take in the sun and scenery... one of those days were Cape Town was just showing of.

Restaurant
Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia is a top-value fine dining experience in Cape Town, especially during lunch with its R450 three-course meal. The restaurant offers stunning views from its location on the mountainside, surrounded by lush greenery. Situated below Constantia Nek at Beau Constantia Winery, it provides breathtaking panoramic views of the vineyards and the beautiful Constantia valley. The restaurant is known for exquisitely plated food and is headed by renowned chef Ivor Jones.
This is one of the best tasting menus I have done. It was my partners first time trying fine dining and safe to say, he is now a lover of fine dining. Each dish had so much flavour, reminding me so much of Asia. The crab salad was sensational, but the star of the show was their lavender dessert. It’s a must try. The staff is incredibly friendly and the interior is so simplistic and cozy.

The prix fixe lunch at Chef’s Warehouse Beau Constantia is undoubtedly a well-crafted experience, but whether it lives up to the hype depends on what you’re looking for. The setting is undeniably stunning, with panoramic views over the Constantia valley that alone make the visit worthwhile. The sleek, modern interior complements the scenery, and the ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed. The four-course menu is inventive and well-executed, with a mix of interesting flavors and clean presentations. However, while the dishes are beautifully plated, some flavors were a bit straightforward and not as thought-provoking for a restaurant with such an esteemed reputation. I really enjoyed the courses, especially the Linefish in a Green curry sauce but other times, the flavors don’t quite deliver the wow factor expected at this price point. The service is professional and efficient, but it can sometimes feel a little detached. While the staff is knowledgeable about the dishes and wine pairings, the warmth and enthusiasm that elevate a dining experience to something special can be missing at times. I was also sat at a dirty table that after 3-4 servers passing, I finally asked to be cleaned. It’s a solid choice for a scenic, well-executed meal, but at R1100 per person, you might leave feeling like you’ve had a good—not great—experience. If you’re looking for exceptional, boundary-pushing flavors, you may find yourself wanting just a little bit more from the experience. But if you prioritize setting and a refined, predictable meal, it’s still a worthwhile outing.

A Memorable Lunch in the Protea Pod — Stunning Views & Exceptional Cuisine! My family and I recently visited Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia in September, and our lunch in the Protea Pod private dining room was nothing short of extraordinary. Overlooking the terraced vineyards of the Constantia region, the vista itself was breathtaking — a perfect backdrop for a truly special meal. The food was creative, artfully plated, and richly flavored — every dish demonstrated the kitchen’s passion for seasonal, local ingredients and inventive techniques. The service was impeccable: attentive without being intrusive, warm and friendly, with a clear knowledge of both the menu and wine pairings. Dining in the Protea Pod felt wonderfully exclusive yet relaxed, giving our family room to savor each course and moment together. It’s rare to find a private dining experience so seamless and thoughtfully executed. If you’re in Cape Town and seeking a lunch that combines gastronomic excellence, unforgettable views, and top-tier hospitality, Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended — we’ll certainly be back.

A Culinary Experience Like No Other Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia is, without a doubt, my favourite restaurant. The food is nothing short of exceptional – every dish is thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. The service is just as impressive: warm, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Constantia winelands, the entire experience is unforgettable. If you’re in Cape Town, this is an absolute must-visit. A true gem that consistently delivers on every level.

The fusion elements in the cuisine are quite dominant with sweet notes where the distinct flavors of the meat or fish become difficult to taste. Also, assertive wine tasting pairings felt somewhat uncomfortable. Still you have to reserve a month before??

Such a unique tasting menu and experience here! My wife and I went for lunch and had a great time - food was good, great wine, excellent service and the view was incredible!! This is an expensive restaurant relative to other places we went in SA, but I think it was well worth it. Shoutout to the whole staff, but especially our servers Chila and Natasha, and the host Keanu for making it not just about the food, but making us feel welcomed! I would highly recommend making a reservation as well!

Tapas restaurant
La Parada Constantia Nek is a tapas restaurant and bar situated in an old barn at the top of Constantia Nek. The establishment offers a diverse selection of international cocktails and a menu featuring Spanish-influenced tapas dishes made with local ingredients. With its warm decor, it provides a unique atmosphere for guests to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
We enjoyed our meal even on a rainy day. Nice fireplaces inside. In the summer the view from the terrace in the back must be spectacular. Menu had good options, something for everyone incl. kids. Nice selection of beverages, cocktails and wines. Food was good. The steak and pasta were delicious. My cauliflower starter was a bit boring. Rest of the seafood starters were very nice. The service was excellent - our waitress Khanyisile was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back in the summer.
Sabrina L — Google review
My overall experience was average. Our waiter didn't seem very interested in our table, and it felt almost as if we were being rushed to order so that we could leave. The food was good. We enjoyed a variety of the tapas on offer. The views are spectacular and the atmosphere cozy. I would likely visit again in hopes that the wait staff are a little more patient.
Minolan N — Google review
Would not recommend. Service was terribly slow, we had empty glasses for a good 10 minutes before the next round arrived. Our waiter also never cleared the table so we eventually had to take out empty plates and glasses to the bar and clear it ourselves. The food was shockingly underwhelming and not at all what was on the menu. The Cauliflower starter was 5 pieces of Cauliflower. Embarrassing. The broccolini side was extremely disappointing. It said "Broccolini; Confit garlic & tomato & hazelnut dressing" for R80. I got literally 4 stems, on a plate with oil, a clover of garlic, 2 cherry tomatoes and 2 whole roasted hazelnuts. The steak salad was very bland, and about R60 worth of steak and 2 bags of rocket. Would not recommend, and won't be back.
Kath — Google review
Would not recommend. We were seated fairly quickly, but immediately noticed that there was two sources of music playing simultaneously, creating a discordant backdrop. We also noticed a table next to us that hadn't been cleared after the previous patrons had left. This was unfortunately a tred for the night. Dirty dishes piled up all around. Our waitor was very nice, but service was slow and we didn't receive our drinks for upwards of 20 minutes. When our food finally arrived, the portions were small and unappetizing. They had obviously been sitting for a while before being brought to us - the aioli had congealed and the food cold. We also ordered the kimchi mac and cheese and there was no kimchi in sight and the gratin topping was so heavy handed the dish was dry. Finally, we ordered a ginger and miso cheese cake, and there was neither ginger nor miso involved. I think they're just adding ingredients to the menu that don't exist. Points for the gorgeous view and the solid cocktails, but overall we won't be back.
Mareli S — Google review
If I could give a zero for service I would. No exaggeration, on average a 30 minute wait on every drink ordered. 8 pieces of sushi about 50 min. The bill 3 seconds. There were 4 other tables. View is unmatched though.
Amber P — Google review
Tasty and hearty dishes with a bar feel. Would definitely recommend for a lunch with friends or family. Only downside is the food takes longer than a usual restaurant.

Chardonnay Deli in Constantia is not your typical restaurant; it's a charming farm stall, bakery, and deli all rolled into one. Owned by the successful Charmaine Lilje, this spot is a popular pit-stop in the Constantia Wine Valley. The focus here is on organic, healthy foods and homemade products.
Chardonnay Deli is a true delight! From the moment you arrive, the outside atmosphere sets the tone for a wonderful experience. The friendly staff greet you at the door, making you feel welcome right away. Whether you're in the mood for a coffee and cake, or simply want to browse the beautiful selection of flowers and grocery items, this place has it all. The dining experience is equally charming, with a cozy and inviting ambiance that makes it the ideal spot for any occasion. Chardonnay Deli perfectly combines great food, a warm atmosphere, and a fantastic shopping experience. Highly recommend for a visit that’s sure to brighten your day.

Really fantastic little spot to grab some breakfast if you're in the area. They have tons of options if you're craving something sweet or something savory. Lots of seating available inside and outside. It is slightly pricey, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. Bit of a bummer that they had someone drilling outside this morning... but that's probably bad luck on our side. We were all too full to try any of the amazing cheese cakes they have on sale, but I've heard they are well worth it. Maybe next time 10/10 Recommend

My overall experience at Chardonnay Deli Constantia was fantastic. Having visited late on a Sunday afternoon, my family and I were met with warm greetings by all staff members who took their time explaining what was on offer from their fresh bakery. My family and I only sat down for coffee and cake, and when we informed the waiter it was cold, she had brought a heater to warm us up. Thank you to the team at Chardonnay Deli Constantia. Will definitely be returning!

A Lovely Little Gem This cozy little café is an absolute delight! Everything is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, from the perfectly crafted coffee to the refreshing cold-pressed juices. And the chocolate croissant? Simply to die for. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a charming little flower stall outside that feels like a slice of heaven. A beautiful spot to grab a treat and soak in some peaceful, feel-good vibe🥰

Chardonnay Deli in Constantia truly stands out from the rest. While many spots in the area struggle when it gets busy, Chardonnay always handles the rush with grace and efficiency. Despite being constantly full, the staff remain incredibly attentive. You never feel like you’re waiting or overlooked. Located in the heart of Constantia, Blockhouse Kitchen is a popular restaurant offering a tranquil space to savor hearty food and exceptional service. The large and stylish eatery at Constantia Uitsig Wine Estate serves comfort food with a twist, courtesy of chef Brad Ball. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, the restaurant focuses on American classics like burgers and sandwiches. Nestled on the historic estate, this modern 250-seater space is dedicated to sharing a passion for accessible and seasonal food.
We had an incredible experience at the Blockhouse Kitchen. Not only was the staff hospitable and kind, they were very accommodating with ensuring my grandmother’s needs were catered for. The restaurant also offers child friendly facilities. I ordered a dirty beef burger. The food was delicious and flavourful, and the portion size was well priced! I’d highly recommend this establishment to anyone who’s looking for a restaurant that could accommodate both needs for the elderly and for young families.

Fantastic for an early dinner with the little one! Great value for money and super tasty dishes, especially the seared tuna and pork belly. The service was excellent. The buddha bowl was super fresh but could potentially need some more flavour to the dressing.

The Blockhouse Kitchen, Constantia Uitsig From the moment we arrived at The Blockhouse Kitchen, we were impressed. Greeted by three friendly staff members at the entrance, we immediately felt welcomed. The service was outstanding from start to finish — truly 5-star! For lunch, I had the cheeseburger with chips, while my companion ordered the pasta. Both dishes were excellent. The burger was juicy and flavorful, with perfectly melted cheese and a fresh, soft bun. The chips tasted just like perfect roast potatoes — crispy outside and fluffy inside. The pasta was equally impressive, featuring tender pork in a rich tomato-based sauce, with the pasta itself cooked to absolute perfection. Overall, it was a fantastic experience — delicious food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

As a carer, I took my elderly client for lunch. I booked ahead and got a table next to the fireplace which was great. The staff are friendly and our waitress gave excellent service. The only thing I thought to mention that although the steps going down into the restaurant are lovely, it would help elderly people and anyone who is visually impaired if the edge of each step was marked with a strip of paint or colour as markers. That aside it was a lovely lunch and I highly recommend a visit.

Beautiful restaurant with a great wine selection. The service is excellent, with just enough care and attention to detail to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Recommended.

Had a table of 8 for Father’s Day and booked about a few days in advance for lunch. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Service is always good here and the food never disappoints. I would put the price range on the higher side however it’s clear in the quality of produce, what you’re paying for. The kitchen took exceptionally long on this particular day as the restaurant was very busy but we were genuinely apologised to and servers were attentive keeping Us up to date. The kids area is great and you may even see an occasional monkey or the grounds peacock. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming.

Beyond Restaurant is a sophisticated yet unpretentious dining destination located on the Buitenverwachting wine farm, offering contemporary South African cuisine in a historic thatched building set on mountain slopes. The restaurant takes pride in its slow-food approach and use of seasonal produce, as well as its top-notch service, stunning views, and exceptional wine selection.
Absolutely outstanding experience all round. Staff were very hospitable and friendly, and were happy to make minor adjustments based on dietary requirements. The view is breathtaking and Beyond is truly a gem of a spot. Every course was delicious and explained thoroughly by the waiters. A real treat and will definitely make a point of coming back to try the other dishes.

Wonderful experience, great combination between luxurious presentation and cozy feeling with a beautiful and unique view of the vineyards and mountains. We went there for their 3-course lunch menu and were pleasantly surprised at the overall experience. The food itself was delicious, we tasted quite a few items of the menu and enjoyed the combinations of flavors. No super crazy over the top combinations, but well balanced and tasty flavors with some fun and unique twists in there. (Definitely try their waygu brisket starter if available 👌🏼). The cocktails and soft drinks were just as good with some delicious twists on some well knows classics. The atmosphere was a perfect balance between a casual and chique restaurant with a homey feeling. No need to take your best suit or dress, but a comfortable neat outfit works well. And this also showed in the staff, they were friendly, gave great high end service as you would expect in a fancy restaurant while keeping a more personal attitude (in a very positive way). Our waiter was lovely and you could see him enjoying his work as he presented the dishes with great descriptions, which made the experience only better. Thank you Robin! (I hope I spelled your name correctly). The price was nothing too high. You pay more than a restaurant downtown but you get so much more thay it's definitely worth the price. Overall a great restaurant for a more luxurious experience for a good price, highly recommend going here! 10/10

We had the most incredible dinner at Beyond for our wedding. The attention to detail in every single dish was out of this world, and the food was truly something special. We had the entire restaurant booked, and every table was so impressed with both the food and the service. It’s rare to find a place where everything just works seamlessly . Literally from the setting to the staff to the presentation, everything was out of this world and Beyond absolutely nailed it. I’ll definitely be back many more times because this is one of those places you simply have to experience at least once in your life.

Experiencing Beyond restaurant was beyond our expectations! Their team and the manager Josh managed to accommodate our reservation last minute on the same day. We were seated at a wonderful quiet table by the view. Our waiter Jordan was so welcoming, attentive and professional. He knew how to recommend exactly the right dishes with the right pairing. The menu is suitable for various tastes & they are able to accommodate intolerances and allergies. The magnificent venue, the decor and the atmosphere are truly memorable. I highly recommend Beyond Restaurant for their exceptional cuisine, service & location.

So nice to visit a top class restaurant that has not succumbed to sharing plates or set tasting menus. A six course tasting menu is offered but you can also choose two or three courses from a selection of starters, mains and desserts. The duck starter was perfectly cooked with a beautiful smoked flavour, and the beetroot salad accompanying it was full of flavour. I had the cape fish main, which was kingklip, again perfectly cooked with an amazing sauce. The team were friendly and attentive throughout, and a good selection of wines. A great experience.

Nestled in the picturesque Constantia Valley, Constantia Glen offers a sophisticated wine-tasting experience with stunning panoramic views of Cape Town. The estate features an elegant tasting venue surrounded by lush lawns and fynbos, providing a serene setting for sampling their exceptional wines. Guests can savor a variety of delectable platters, including cheese and charcuterie options, as well as gourmet main dishes and salads.
Constantia Glen is one of the many incredible wineries in South Africa, and it’s easily one of my favorites in the Cape Town area. Located in the heart of the Constantia Valley, just a short drive from the city, it’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon surrounded by stunning mountain views and rolling vineyards. The winery itself is beautifully designed, with modern architecture that blends seamlessly with the natural landscape. The atmosphere is elegant but relaxed perfect for a leisurely wine tasting or a long lunch on the terrace. Their cheese and charcuterie platters pair perfectly with the wines, and the view from the tasting deck is absolutely breathtaking. Constantia Glen is best known for its Bordeaux-style blends and crisp Sauvignon Blancs, both of which reflect the unique coastal climate of the region. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience feel personal and welcoming. Whether you’re a wine enthusiast or just looking for a scenic, peaceful escape near Cape Town, Constantia Glen is a must-visit. Excellent wine, great food, and one of the best views in the Cape Winelands. 🍷🌿

I had the most amazing lunch at Constantia Glen. It is on the priceier side but nothing short of luxurious. The truffle pizza was exceptional and the wine was nothing short of delicious. The venison carpaccio was also good. The view was phenomenal. The experience is undoubtedly worth every penny. As a General Manager myself, of a reknown restauraunt, even though I did experience a slight under-standard/underwhelming occurance, it was rectified promptly and properly which says much more and doesnt make it worth mentioning. The manager should have come over but Troy was a fantastic waiter. Lost a star for the manager not being present to apologise but Troy saved the day and I will be back soon!! 🌟

A wonderful winery with views of the vineyards over rolling hills beneath the mountains. It is truly incredible. We enjoyed a wine tasting and charcuterie board at sunset, on their outdoor patio - reservation is recommended. The staff were fantastic - friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. We loved our visit, which was a highlight of our time in Cape Town. Highly recommend!

For a cold grey winters day the glass veranda is the perfect spot to do some wine tasting and enjoy lunch with a wood fire roaring in the background. Super cozy and warm while the surrounds are gorgeous - lots a rain, grey colds with the sun peeking out for short bursts - typical Cape Town weather! The wine - my recommendation is the Flagship tasting however Olivia Grace will be missed and is an enjoyable wine. We devoured a delicious cheese platter (I would suggest that they add an additional baguette as there was not a table there that did not need to order more!!) The Wagu Burgers are a real hit - really delish and a healthy portion. Chips are double fried and the best I’ve had in Cape Town!! The Rindelgulash was nice however the spätzle was too doughy. I was a little disappointed with this dish and definitely had food envy looking at the burger. It’s an expensive outing for South Africans but as a special treat well worth it. Wine tasting, cheese platter and mains is roughly R800 a head. Would highly recommend Constantia Glen and I think summer days on the veranda or gardens with some great wine, the pizza ovens open and a delicious cheeseboard is something I hope to come back for!

Botanicum is a suburb meeting place in the leafy Constantia precinct, just up from the village. Sometimes my visits are only for a coffee meeting with a client or a light meal to catch up with a mate. My most recent visit though, a breakfast with my wife, prompted the review because it was just that good, and hit the spot. We didn’t have much time and scanned the menu quickly to complete a single order. Worth noting, with the the cost of living soaring, I was pleasantly surprised as the menu prices, very reasonable compared to some of the eateries I’ve visited lately around the city (Cape Town). After witnessing a neighbouring tables’ order, I was compelled to opt in for the Eggs Benedict, with poached eggs, baby spinach, house-made hollandaise, sourdough toast, and the option of either Bacon (my choice), Ham or Salmon Trout to finish it off. While my wife went for something a little leaner (considering we had just finished a hike…), the Granola Fruit Salad, made up of seasonal fruit, home-made granola, yoghurt, lightly toasted honey coated seed mix, to which she was very impressed. Coffee was great, service was attentive as usual. I hear the pizzas and burgers are good, but in the past I’ve enjoyed the ‘Fish & Chips’ and a great salad of sorts. There is a very attractive wine list too, with a few beers on tap and even a few iconic cocktails listed. Botanicum pride themselves on best produce from local ethical butchers and responsibly sourced seafoods, that I believe is showcased well. I do like the space, decors is modern and airy, with attention to detail, particularly the the bar area. The terrace is lovely weather permitting, but for me, I prefer the inside and the softer chairs. A great meeting spot for all occasions. Ciao SB ~ 🍳 Update: Visited again March 2024 - same great food. Inside corner table offered sufficient space to work after breakfast too.

Lovely little spot situated in Constantia. The food is absolutely delicious and there is a large variety to select from. The service was a bit slow (not enough waiters on the floor) but the staff still did their best and always had a smile on their faces. This is a pet-friendly restaurant, and furbabies are welcomed to sit outside in the shade or under the canopies

My wife and I tried this place and here is our review, there was only 6 couples here, where as next door was full. Staff did not show any interest in us being there, when finished and sat back not asked if they could clear the table. We had to call them over for everything, very slow. I had 3 Karoo lamb chops which were crispy on outside and cold in the middle, I've had Karoo lamb and this was nothing like I've had before, the taste was bland and ive had better at the Spur. Desert was the chocolate fondant, in the Centre was still a solid lump and the outside burnt. Venue very nice, needs better manager. Would not return.

Absolutely love this place! Botanicum presents the classical beauty of bontanical art with the modern comfort of great design and exceptional food. The sourdough pizzas and burgers were flavour-filled and well priced. Enjoy its charm and delicious food under the canopy of ancient oaks or within the stylish and comfortable interior. Wheelchair accessibility accommodated.

This restuarant has a lovely warm feeling. Sunlight is allowed to flood the open space of the inner restuarant. There, sophisticated lamps and wall lighting send there owns rays through the room, landing softly on the leaves and vines of living indoor plants. Nostalgic oldworld artworks of botanical drawings and paintings, beautifully framed are suspended on the walls. Service is quick, excellent and friendly. My charcoal grilled and fresh cut ribeye steak was tender, marbled and deliciously flavoursome. The cream spinach was probably the best I have had. Freshly made - no defrosting vegetable boxes here. My partner's homemade Linguine, had a truly delicious Napoletana style sauce with a healthy bite of chili. Really good. The unfortunate timing, meant that the restuarant was resetting their tables after having hosted a seemingly very successful birthday event. This meant the peace and calm of the space was disrupted by moving tables and chairs occasionally screeching across the floors, as they were carried and dragged back to their original spaces. That aside, this was an excellent meal and I would gladly return, possibly to taste more of the great craft beers they have on tap or the lovely wines they stock. They also have an electric stairlift, and a designated bathroom for disabled persons.

Restaurant Week October 2022: What a disappointment. Booked for late lunch. Announced myself as the person who made a reservation and yet was given ordinary menus. Waiter seemed like he just graduated from a Spur. Restaurant was relatively empty. Food was below average for Restaurant week. Wine was good. They charge for “tap” water by the bottle. We know this as they billed for bottled water and filtered water (rectified on bill on request) .The starter was good,Salmon Trout. The mains were really bad. Both ordered the same. Very tough rump steak with worn down, bulky wood handled steak knives. The potato chips tasted like the mash potatoes type were used. The ultimate disappointment was the dried out Chocolate Tart, clearly shrunken away from the edges. To top it, with sour Chantilly cream. I haven’t felt this disappointed to part with my hard earned money in a while. They compensated with on the house coffee. I expected more from this restaurant especially as it has an affiliation with another well rated Botanicum, the location (Constantia) and the proximity of Groot Constantia.

We were there two times and very happy with the food and very nice service. Prices are good. Everything is worth the money. The calamari as starter is my favorite. We tried Pizza (good) and the fillet steak for 260 ZAR. Perfect! Only weakness are the french fries. They are not cross enough. We were two adults, had starter, one Pizza, one fillet steak, two beer and two wine andere paid below 1000 ZAR. We will come back:-)

The Conservatory Restaurant, situated at Cellars Hohenort estate, offers a captivating dining experience in a garden setting. Executive Chef Tronette Dippenaar skillfully curates a menu that pays homage to Liz McGrath's recipes, featuring an array of dishes such as Cape Malay bobotie and Crispy Tempura Prawns.
My daughter and I dined in the glass room of the conservatory restaurant on Sunday night. I can honestly say we had the best service ever from our server Marshal. He went beyond the call of duty and explained the dishes with a passion. The food was fantastic and presented beautifully. I also loved the champagne and Marshall's description of it. At the end of the evening we received a beautiful dessert platter with the words farewell written on the plate, as it was my daughter's last meal before flying back to the US. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! What an absolute treat! Well done Marshall!

The first time I came here is for high tea. It is important to make a booking in advance. Everything was tasty. The hotel premises are amazing: beautiful garden, tea house, restaurant, swimming pool area, picnics spot. Perfect place for any type of ceremonies, baby showers, etc. The most impressive is the restaurant interior. It is so luxurious. The walls, ceilings, wall windows with a garden view and their tableware perfectly matched with interior design. And they have a lawn with cute ducks 🦆 The luckiest ones could find a tortoise 🐢

The Conservatory Restaurant is absolutely stunning – the ambience is elegant and cozy at the same time. Service was top tier, attentive but not overbearing, and the food was just amazing. The bread and butter alone were a treat, the red wine was excellent, and everything we ordered was spot on: the steak with vegetables was cooked perfectly, the calamari was delicious, the pasta and the shrimps were both so tasty. And don’t even get me started on the desserts – we tried three different ones and every single one was divine. Definitely a place worth coming back to.

Amazing! We met a friend for a late afternoon sweet treat and we’re definitely not disappointed. The food is fantastic the restaurant boasts a very inclusive menu (vegan and Halaal friendly). Service was a bit slow, but the staff were wonderful and very helpful. We will definitely be returning soon!

Our dining experience here was absolutely fantastic! 🤌🏼 and tbh Marshall, our waiter, made it exceptional!!! We had great food, in a beautiful ambience, with the best service but most importantly: a real human connection, with so much laughter & fun! Because after all, every experience is always about the people. Marshall made us feel warmly welcomed & was simply on our wavelength! We’d come back just for him - but of course for the food as well 😉 And he even went above & beyond and made me this special take-away swan 🦢🥰😋 Highly recommend 🤌🏼✨

Cattle Baron Constantia is a top-rated restaurant known for its outstanding food and professional, friendly service. The grillhouse offers a unique dining experience in an up-market ambiance. Guests have praised the attentive staff, particularly highlighting instances where they accommodated special dietary needs with care and attention to detail. This establishment has garnered positive reviews and high ratings, making it a popular choice among visitors seeking fine dining experiences in Constantia.
My friend and I visited Cattle Baron and sat at the bar. We were greeted by two very friendly gentlemen who went the extra mile to make our experience great. When I ordered a spicy margarita which is not a usual cocktail on the menu, Chris and Matthew were very enthusiastic, creative and decided to meet my needs as best they could. They made a lovely tasting spicy margarita out of the limited ingredients they had - I was very impressed and so grateful! Matthew and Chris made our experience fun and positive and we really appreciate their kindness and hospitality!

If I were rating the coke, it would be full stars. It arrived on the table fast, there was a clean glass with complementary ice and lemon slice and as most coca cola lovers would expect, beautiful when poured correctly out of a glass bottle. But let's get to the real review. We were welcomed at the door and allowed to pick where we'd sit. Atmosphere wasn't bad and we were the only people in that section. To be fair only one table on the other side of the partition was occupied. We sat in full view of the check out and someone we assumed was the manager was there conversing with people and taking calls. The waitress was there initially when we sat. She disappeared for a while and returned with menus then introduced herself. Friendly yes, welcoming? I wouldn't exactly say that. When we were ready to order, she promptly took the order and returned with the drinks (the coca cola mentioned above). This was my first time in this Cattle Baron so we sat and took in the atmosphere. It was pleasant, lit fairly okay but upon closer inspection you can see the cracks in certain places, quite literally. Surely we were not dressed for the occasion as it was a spur of the moment decision (we were on our way to Spur when hubby changed his mind and suggested we check out Cattle Baron and since it's just a few minutes away from where we live..) here we were. Listening to people talk around us and left wondering when the food would arrive and if it would be any good. Another person, a male this time brought our food. It looked okay, not exactly what I was expecting since the menus are printed all fancy. Sure, we decided on burgers because well, it's a safe bet when going somewhere for the first time. Fairly easy to make etc etc. The first thing we noticed is that the plates weren't clean. On the one plate it looked like someone's left over egg that had now congealed remained and a fatty substance beneath the plate which also had black streaks. I lifted my plate and found the same. Fortunately the cutlery was clean so we gave it a go. We would have sent it back but at this time it seems the rapture hit and no one on the staff were in sight. The buns were crumbling and stale. My burger was overcooked. Hubby's burger didn't taste of blue cheese sauce and there were no actual blue cheese shavings. The bacon on both tasted and looked like it was boiled. For some reason, the tomato slice was at the bottom, making the bottom of the bun a wet mess. The fries were inconsistent, some were so hard it felt like it was laying at the bottom of the fryer for days and then scraped out and served with our meal. It was so hard we couldn't eat it. We spent most of our meal in silence, regretting that we chose to go there. Eventually when we had enough and left piles of things we just couldn't eat there was still no check in from the waitress or anyone so we stood up and went to pay. The waitress appeared at the pay station and seemed shocked that we were dissatisfied. She called the manger who also apologized and said she would talk to the chef. Too little, too late. Overall, a terrible experience from poor service to horrible food and a complete waste of time and money. It may look all up market but I've had better food and service from a drive through.

I took my friend for a birthday meal and it was amazing. They made her feel special, there was a birthday card on the table when we arrived, the host staff and our waiter all wished her happy birthday. For dessert the kitchen staff wrote Happy Birthday on her plate. It's the little things that make it a night to remember. The food was delicious and great value for money. A great night and would highly recommend

Absolutely enjoyed my time here. It was a week day so the atmosphere was very calm. The staff welcomed us with such warm smiles. The restaurant is very clean and cousy. Compliments to the chef because oh my soul the food was so delicious and well prepared and presented. Although it is in a fairly busy old village, once inside you forget about it. Thank you for the wonderful service 👌🏽

We placed an order last night for collection. After asking if we needed to check to ensure all the food was in fact correct and in the bag, they insisted that it was all there and correct, and it was checked and signed by Mel. Well, Mel didn’t do such a brilliant job of checking as we did in fact have missing food. After arriving home we phoned to complain that there was a missing item and the lady on the phone said they’d phone back. Did we receive a call? No. Did we receive the missing item? No. We were reimbursed for the missing item? Take a guess… No. The food is always good, but we are very disappointed in the unprofessional after service.

We had a booking for two on 5 August 2025 at 17:30 and were told the table would be needed again by 19:00, which was completely fine since we only planned on having mains. We arrived a little early and were seated by 17:23. The restaurant was fairly empty at that time. We received our menus promptly, but no one came over to offer us drinks or take our order. Multiple waiters passed our table, but none acknowledged us or checked in. After waiting 10–15 minutes with no interaction at all, we decided to leave. It was a very disappointing experience, especially considering we had a booking and arrived on time. We were really looking forward to the meal, but sadly, the lack of basic service made it impossible to stay.

Tashas Constantia is a charming cafe located in Constantia, Cape Town. Inspired by the founder's childhood memories, this cafe aims to redefine daytime dining with its warm and inviting atmosphere. The interiors are designed to exude charm and encourage social interaction, drawing inspiration from trendy cafes in Paris, New York, and London. Despite being packed at times, the boutique cafe maintains a pleasant ambiance.
We only came for a breakfast and left surprisingly satisfied. Staff is great, food is fresh and excellent portion sizes. The prices are a little bit above average, but you’re receiving excellent value for money.

My favourite go-to lunch restaurant. Impeccable service and a great variety on the menu, from healthy breakfasts, light lunches to fuller meals. A quick lunch time drive to Constantia just for a Tasha's smoothie. Very emotional for me. My daughter favorite spot, when getting together with her military friends for a catch up..she's now in NZ. However it is a beautiful setting Pet friendly outside. A big lunch crowd inside. Very sophisticated waitrons. I had to order in a rush a quick smoothie, and oh my gosh you can add collagen for a small extra fee. It was filling and kept me going for the afternoon. Cozy sofas outside. A variety to order from the menu. I will indeed update when I visit again and have more time.

Today, after 5 months from being indoors, I took my wife for breakfast as she's going through a chemo session in her life. At first, I was a bit sceptical about tashas, but when we arrived at the place, we were welcomed like we were part of the regular customers. The service and food was out of this world. The 2 waiters that assisted us, Polite and Zeus were very professional. Thank you to management and staff for the great professional service. We will definitely be back.

Sunday brunch, we had a lovely forest walk in the property. Lovely setting, very peaceful. It was a bit windy to sit outside so we opted to sit indoors. We visited Little Streams during a week day in winter and sat outside. Beautiful setting and surroundings! I must say this is a little gem of a place in Constantia for breakfasts and lunches but especially for breakfasts as they serve delicious options and also when we were there we were told about a breakfast special where you can buy the full house and get the rise and shine free. The full house is a large portion of food and very delicious. Sausage, eggs, bacon, chips, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and baked beans and 2 slices of toast but it is expensive - R160. The coffee is good. The service was a bit slow - The coffees took a while but the saff are welcoming, attentive and friendly. Dogs are allowed on leads and we always take them for a walk down to the river where there's a circular short route you can walk that traverses the fence line overlooking Groot Constantia. This is a really great place for children too as there are fun and exciting structures in the garden, a play house, a large mole and other features. This place is a good place to go if you want to destress and have relaxing dining experience.

While the atmosphere is fantastical and relaxing, the food and service were lacking (especially the service). We were there on Heritage Day for a nice date time lunch. Upon arrival, we were told to order quickly as the kitchen was closing - fair enough. However, the waitor, Privellege, did not show up to our table, we had to scout him out before the cut-off time. When the food finally did arrive, it was missing guacamole (a fundamental part of nachos) which was not pointed out to us beforehand, but rather apologised for upon delivery (no discount for missing ingredients either). Then, in the middle of taking a bite from my hand, the aforementioned waiter attempted to hand me the bill, for which I had not requested (I do not mean that he placed it on the table, he held it in front of me until I cleaned my hands and finally took it). Then, before our meal was even complete, and with my mouth full, he showed up once more with a card reader (keep in mind, we were 20% of the way through our meal and had not yet even asked for the bill). Very rude and unprofessional wait staff, which is unfortunate as the cafe and the scenery surrounding it are pristine. Additionally, the dishes that we ordered ("traditional" butter chicken & nachos) were well below the expected quality for the price. We will return for coffees (which were fantastic) and a stroll in the future, but will not dine here again due to the uncomfortable service and uninspired food.

A beautiful garden but sadly a very disappointing experience at the restaurant. No management present, waited and waited and waited for our food; listened to everyone's complaints around us; got told the same lame excuse than the other patrons after an hour about the pizza oven not being hot enough; decided to walk through the garden while we waited some more, only to return to pizzas that tasted as it if were cooked in a microwave and made with a store-bought base although the menu describes it as wood-fired which it clearly wasn't. We eventually took the pizza home and cooked it properly ourselves

A Hidden Gem Under the Oaks – Rustic Charm with a Side of Acorns Nestled beneath a canopy of towering oak trees, this charming little restaurant—tucked inside the famous pub—feels like a well-kept secret. The ambiance is pure magic, especially when the breeze stirs and a rogue acorn plummets toward your plate, adding a thrilling touch of nature’s spontaneity to your morning meal. The food? Generous, hearty, and utterly satisfying. Whether you opt for a classic full breakfast or something a little more refined, every plate arrives piled high, leaving no room for regret (but maybe a need for a post-meal stroll). The coffee is an art form here—smooth, rich, and perfectly presented, as if the barista genuinely cares about your caffeine experience. Service, while efficient, could use a sprinkle of warmth. A few smiles wouldn’t go amiss, but thankfully, the charm of the setting and the quality of the food more than make up for it. All in all, this spot offers a near-perfect dining experience—rustic, welcoming (even if the staff isn’t beaming), and wonderfully indulgent. Just keep an eye out for those acorns! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4.5/5)

Always wanted to go there seeing as we do our sunday drives passed the place and for Date night me and le wife decided hey lets go. No regrets service was super fast, it wasnt packed (it being middle of the week and all) but service was on par i cant say many places were that efficient like these guys well done. Menu's are well put. atmosphere is great we were inside (cause its cold) but the outside when i went to vape was really nice so thats a next time. Waiter i am sorry i never took your name down but he was great so was the other servers that assisted, well spoken, professional and on point. Food was good the chorizo mmm grilled to perfection the peri peri was nice just little tomato ish for my liking but otherwise i devoured it bread was amazing. mains wise the burger was great but ill ask to take the tomato out im not against tomato just the patty slid around ahahah. The Chips omg i cant help but say you better than Steers (since steers dont make chips like they used to) Well priced as well especially if you look around even compared to Spur price vs quality this place hits the nail. Def will come back My only complaint is im not sure if i like the sauce on the burger could be me i am full of nonsense aswell but ill def come back. had the jelopino burger with bacon.. and they were not Stingy with the bacon the patty was great pretty much what i want in a burger not a generic patty so to speak.

Spirit Cafe, with two branches in Cape Town, offers seasonally driven dishes made from farm-to-table produce. The menu is vegetarian and vegan-friendly, catering to gluten-free, sugar-free, and meat-free diets. They serve healthy breakfast options like chia pots and crustless quiches as well as a changing daily communal buffet for lunch. Known for their creative dishes made with fresh ingredients, the cafe caters to vegans, vegetarians, and those who are gluten-free.
Spirit Cafe This healthy and vibrant cafe is located in the courtyard of Constantia Village. They focus on healthy and ethical food, and they manage to make it all incredibly delicious. After eating a meal here, I can guarantee your body will feel good, and your taste buds will thank you. The atmosphere is very laid back. I’d say half the customers are meeting friends or family, and the other half are working from their laptops. I must say, their WiFi is really good, so it’s a great spot to work from, and there are quite a few plug points too. I really like the design of this café. It feels very organic and authentic, wooden tables, green couches, plants, and little features that add a homely feel. There’s seating inside and outside in the courtyard. Most of the time, their doors and windows are open, so no matter where you sit, you get fresh air. At the front of the cafe, there’s also a shop selling healthy products, treats, and ready made meals. I can highly recommend giving these a go. My business partner and I are still on our beginning of the year health kick, so we decided to visit Spirit Cafe for breakfast. On arrival, the café was incredibly busy. We decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful day. We popped our bags down to secure the last available table and headed inside to look through the menu and order. Tip: Order inside at the counter, they don’t do table service. We got a warm welcome from the gentleman behind the counter. I ordered a flat white (R42) with almond milk (R10). To eat, I ordered the farmhouse breakfast (R130): two free range eggs, avo or halloumi, tahini greens, and toasted seeds, served with your choice of toast. I opted for soft poached eggs, halloumi, and rye bread. Moments later, my coffee arrived, perfect temperature and absolutely delicious. They make their own almond milk, and I was skeptical since homemade nut milk can be a hit or miss, but this one was good. After a little while, the waiter brought our food. The plate was pretty big, so we quickly removed our laptops to make space. The beautifully plated breakfast arrived, and wow, I was so excited to tuck in. The deep green colours from the sautéed spinach were so inviting. The halloumi was golden brown and crispy. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the toast had just the right amount of butter brushed on. But what really excited me was the broccoli drenched in tahini and generously sprinkled with sunflower seeds. And the taste? Even better than it looked. I started with the spinach. Normally, I’m not a fan, it’s usually watery and bland. But this? Probably the best sautéed spinach I’ve ever had, flavourful with a great texture. The salty halloumi complemented it perfectly. The broccoli was soft, and the combination of creamy umami, sweet tahini, and crunchy seeds made it a completely balanced dish. The rye was nutty and buttered just right. It paired so well with the runny yolk of the poached eggs. I had so much fun with this dish, mixing different bites together. Sooner than I hoped, I demolished my meal. My favourite part? The tahini broccoli. But overall? A 10/10. I cannot wait to eat this again, and knowing that it’s incredibly healthy makes me even more excited. They’re open for breakfast and lunch, and I highly recommend both. Their lunch buffet includes a daily changing main warm dish and a variety of salads. So, come for breakfast and stay for lunch! Also, their Super C smoothie is thick and delicious. I highly recommend it. Overall, I love Spirit Cafe. The food is always top notch, and the staff are incredibly warm and friendly. ’Til next time!

I was really looking forward to trying out Spirt Cafe. Let’s start with the good. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and tasty. Cannot fault the quality of the food. However, service is far below average. I went to order the food and there was an issue with the machine. I stood there awkwardly waiting for it to be fixed, before I could place my order. At no point did the server apologise for the wait or the fact that that machine was being repaired. Literal silence while I awkwardly waited, unsure as to what the issue was. I then ordered my food and waited and waited and waited. It took quite a while to arrive, even by Cape Town standards. As much as the wrap was tasty, it was poorly made and ended up tearing and spilling all over my plate before I even took my first bite. It was also substantially smaller than the average wrap (example Kauia or Nu) but quite a bit more expensive. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be returning

The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel is an elegant and historic country hotel located in the Constantia Valley. It boasts award-winning gardens, making it a delightful spot for high tea throughout the year. The Classic High Tea experience at the light and airy Greenhouse includes a welcome glass of bubbly followed by four courses of savory and sweet treats, along with a fine selection of loose-leaf teas and herbal infusions.
This is a beautiful hotel and worth a night or two if you are staying in Cape Town. The grounds we beautiful, and we were able to spend some time wandering the garden paths. We ate all three meals in the restaurant, which has a stunning location surrounded by lush trees and plants. The hospitality all around was lovely, from our welcome drink upon arrival to the thoughtful staff. It was a restful night’s stay.

We stayed for 2 nights for my birthday on our trip trough South Africa. Cannot recommend enough. The staff was just the best. Went out of their way to ensure we had the best stay, especially the staff at the reception (I unfortunately don’t remember their names). Premises and location is amazing. Food and drinks delicious. Marshall at the restaurant was such a great host and made us feel special. Thank you very much for everything. The only downside is that we didn’t stay longer :)

Phenomenal stay at the Cellars Hohenort. Truly the best hotel when in Cape Town where you will receive warm and generous South African hospitality in a stunning setting in Constantia (so close to the city esp when driving off peak hours with beautiful surroundings). The Cellars has outstanding South African food (the chefs are brilliant), beautiful decor/rooms, gardens and the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and generous. We especially loved the lamb curry with freshly baked roti, bobotie, pasta and malwa pudding. The breakfast was always spectacular and I loved my pap! The room was elegant and wonderfully quiet with comfy beds and hot water bottles at turn down. A special shout out to the fabulous Zanele, Michelle, Lemohang, Ethan, brilliant chefs, reception team, attentive housekeeping, talented gardeners, all the amazing staff and our wonderful shuttle driver “M” Tanya the general manager was also exceptional. We will only stay here when in Cape Town.❤️

Just had an amazing lunch at Cellars-Hohenort truly beautiful part of Cape Town away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. Ambience, view and food was fantastic. Great welcome and seating. Our waitress Phumeza was really good and even though she gave us time for ourselves but I would have liked a little more attention, I had pour my own wine and water on occasion, if you going to place like this you would expect a little more. Another was the manager coming around and not handing menu out for dessert but just dropping it on the table. For a 5star place it’s the details. The food was fantastic had the Tuna Tartare starter and shared with my wife the Norwegian Salmon (I asked for it seared) and also the Beef short rib. Food tasty and well presented, again it’s the details only complaint was I got a bit of Tuna Sinew in my starter and too much soft fat in the Beef rib, it’s just the finer details. Can highly recommend this place especially being quiet and content, just note my suggestions. Dessert is as all Amazing you can’t go wrong without anything.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while it’s clear that it’s a heritage property — which likely limits how much can be done in terms of modern upgrades due to preservation regulations — my stay was overall pleasant. The facilities may feel dated compared to more contemporary hotels, but what the place lacks in modernity, it more than makes up for in service. The staff were warm, attentive, and professional throughout my stay. The food was also a standout — fresh, well-prepared, and consistently impressive. If you’re looking for a stay that offers character, history, and truly exceptional service, this hotel is a solid choice. Just don’t expect ultra-modern amenities.
Dominic K — Google review
The staff are excellent - the people who work here really make the property. Otherwise I found it a real disappointment. Firstly our room, number 17, was located right next to a cupboard which hotel staff use to store all sorts of things - so you're regularly disturbed at all hours with people going in/out with glass bottles and sun lounger cushions - I'm pretty sure a staff member was taking a nap in there too, so if you want to avoid this dusturbance avoid rooms 17 and 18. Room 17 was small and somewhat dated in decor, there are no black out blinds so once the sun comes up, you're awake. The gym and pool facilities are very disappointing, the gym is small with limted equipment and the shower/changing facilities are not accessable. This is not an accessable property so do not book this hotel if you have limited movement/need a wheelchair. I must say that the food and beverage provision was excellent and we really enjoyed high tea. You will need a car/taxi to go anywhere so I felt quite isolated at this location.

As a family of 5 with teenage kids we had a fabulous 4 day stay at Cellars Hohenort. It's a haven only 30 car mins away from the V&A Waterfront, or the beaches, and not far to the Winelands - with spectacular gardens, wonderful service, delicious food and peace and quiet to read, roam the neighbourhood, and try and find Shelly the Tortoise hiding somewhere in the flower beds. Two heated pools, a tennis court and mountain bikes provide opportunities for exercise. We stayed put and loved every minute on the property!
Catharina B — Google review
It was truly a wonderful stay! The area is very safe and green. The hotel’s garden was like a little paradise—every corner was thoughtfully designed. I also loved the design inside. The fireplace was so cosy. The staff were kind and helpful. Both the restaurant and the breakfast exceeded my expectations—everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The champagne and wine left in our room were such a lovely touch. They paid so much attention to detail. It was my husband’s birthday and an early honeymoon for us. We were so glad to stay there. Everything was perfect. I can’t wait to come back!

Food was amazing and our waitress (Pam?) had the biggest smile and was so accommodating and friendly and made us feel so welcomed even just for breakfast. The Ratatouille with poached eggs delicious and the full breakfast scrumptious with plenty bacon and firm popping pork sausages. Atmosphere is quaint but perhaps getting a little dated but thats personal preference.

We had a great lunch. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. The service is gentle and quite fast. But most of all the food is great. The type of cuisine is near the “fine dining” philosophy, but with a lot of substance. I loved the impala meat and the eggplant. The dishes seemed a picture of contemporary art!

Massimo's is a highly regarded restaurant in Hout Bay, Cape Town, known for its dog-friendly environment. It offers a dedicated dog menu and welcomes well-behaved dogs in selected indoor and outdoor areas. The restaurant is popular for its Italian cuisine and also supports charitable causes by donating a portion of the proceeds from dog meals to the Underdog Project and contributing all profits from bandana sales to DARG.
I’m a big fan of pizzas and I can comfortably say this was some of the best pizza I have ever had! They have a very wide variety (lots of vegetarian as well) and they are looked delicious. Can’t comment on the service and atmosphere too much as we got a takeaway but staff were very friendly and restaurant seemed the good kind of busy. Will definitely be back.
Willem R — Google review
Very good pizza! It's not the best that I've had, but it's definitely better than your average, like Cal Cachio. Perfect thin bases with plenty of toppings. Nice crunch to every bite. Pricing is a little more than your average restaurant at R140+ for most pizzas. I love the fact that some pizzas that you buy. A small portion goes to a charity such as an animal welfare center Had an annoying baby on the table behind us crying. That's just luck of the draw, I guess. I'd recommend coming here for sure
Soviet K — Google review
Very warm and cosy setup. Staff was very friendly. The service was fast and efficient. Food came very quick, and it tasted great. My only gripe was that there are no chicken options for the pasta or pizza dishes. Had to have a veg pizza
Vitesh R — Google review
I had the Mafiosa Pizza and Chocolate Brownie. The pizza was not very flavourful, despite many ingredients being used. Some of the edges were burned (not charred). Might just need more seasoning, it was okay overall. The brownie was a little bitter and ice cream not very smooth but otherwise decent. The restaurant was quiet, yet our table of 5 were served quite slowly. The space was a bit dimly lit for around 3:30pm. Atmosphere was fine - elevated by good company - I could see it being nicer at night. Toilets are located adjacent to the Spar, and is accessible with a key-tag provided by the staff (Additional info for those interested).

We had a late afternoon meal excellent starters, pizza and pasta. Unusual but lovely fennel pizza and a marvelous classic artichoke ravioli. A nice spot for kids to play too :)
Catherine K — Google review
Let's be honest calories aside, who does not fancy a flipping good pizza? Well I am no different, perhaps even a little fussy when deciding on my 8-slices of Italian Heaven here in Cape Town, where we are a little spoilt for choice too. One chilly Spring night the wife and I opted to venture out for a dinner date. We decided on Italian, but where, as we had a reasonably good short-list. The question that beckoned though, was where haven't we been in a while? Some frantic Google search's and a few calls later, we had a table at Massimo's, even though we had visited twice before, we were excited to go again. What sealed the deal was the gluten free options as well as a fair corkage fee, and I know they are one of the few places that do a cracker wood oven Calzone! Which is exactly what I felt like pairing my Cederberg 2020 Cabernet with. While navigating the menu, we sipped on a few Campari's absorbing the Italian mood and vibe of the restaurant. Which is what I think I like most about it, no fuss, no frills but just good food. We decided on sharing a Caprese Salad for a starter, that was perfectly served with Fiordilatte Mozzarella, tomato, avocado and basil oil, so good. I think we climbed into it before we could get any pics, oops. But there were some top contenders for starters, like anchovies marinated in oil, vinegar & garlic served with Salsa Verde (drooling). Alas, my heart or stomach was set on the Happy Valley Calzone, which was everything I felt like and more! Think tomato, ham, mushrooms, mozzarella, feta, caramelised onions, asiago cheese, served with avo & brushed with garlic butter... Hungry yet? You better be, I had to take half home, I was stuffed. I have read some reviews complaining about slightly burnt edges, I think that is exactly what produces the perfect and authentic pizza - it got my 5* vote. My wife was undecided, but eventually decided to opt for the Gluten Free version of the Squid 'oink' pasta (Richard Bosman chorizo, calamari, chopped fresh tomatoes, garlic, fennel seeds), that was delicious too. We didn't have space for anything sweet, but the tables next to us were raving about their desserts, especially the Crème Brûlée. Worth noting, we visited on Tuesday night and enjoyed the Winter Warmer special, where Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday is 20% off all pizza and pasta, though eat in only. Incidentally they are doggy friendly and support a wide range of community projects too, which is truly heart warming in our modern society. Viva Massimo's Ciao ~ SB 🍕

La Belle Constantia, located in the Alphen Boutique Hotel, is a delightful cafe known for its fresh bakes, salads, and hearty lunches. When the weather is warm, guests can enjoy the charming outdoor seating area.

One of my favourite places in Cape Town and have visited many times over the years. Generally, the food has been good in the past but my family was very disappointed with the baked items on offer for afternoon tea. We arrived at 14:30 and most of the bakery items were finished. A very poor selection. Quite bizarre considering people usually want tea and cakes on a Sunday afternoon. There was one portion of scones left and we were told that they generally don't make too many scones because of fear of wastage. We were also advised that we should phone ahead of time in future and have cakes/scones set aside. The portions of all the baked items were small. The frangipane tart wasn't the best. Very sweet and very small slice. The scones were crumbly and fell apart and not the best flavour. Quite different to the experience a year ago, where we considered them one of the best when compared to other establishments in the area. The only carrot cake option was vegan and the apple crumble again, was more crumble than apple and very dry. Cream is offered as an optional extra for 'vegan' reasons?? The cheesecake was fair but there was confusion as to the 'flavours'. In all, not the best experience and some of the staff are a little on the rude side. The whole experience felt 'disorganized' and disappointing. I will return because of the love of the setting but definitely will think twice about going to La Belle for 'afternoon tea and cake'. I hope that the standards on the lunch and breakfast options, haven't dropped as well. It would be a real shame.

I had lunch here on my own a couple of months ago and it was really lovely. Staff was so kind and accommodating. The venue is light and airy, I enjoyed the outdoor patio. I got the oysters, they were nice, also got a cocktail. I wasn’t in love with the cocktail, it was weak, but the wine I got later was decent. I ordered the pork belly, it was meant to have a crisp crust, and it didn’t at all, so I had to send it back. The manager came out to ask about it and he apologized, and then I got the salmon. The salmon was delicious. It was a nice lunch.

Nice cozy atmosphere. Service was slow so tested our patience but we just went with it as we were in good company. Food-> below average and overpriced. Chips were cold and old; Burger itself average. My pesto tagliatelle was too creamy and really had to force myself to finish it; though the desert was enjoyable (pecan nut tart and cheesecake)

Cafe Roux in Noordhoek offers a delightful experience for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The cozy interior with a wood-burning stove creates a warm atmosphere, while the garden venue under oak trees provides a serene setting. The menu features hearty breakfasts, tasty lunches, and an array of comfort options like burgers and wraps alongside healthy choices such as seared tuna with wasabi dressing. This popular spot also hosts live music, comedy acts, film screenings, and inspirational talks on various topics.
I had quite a nice experience here last week Sunday. We drove to Noordhoek for a day out, and we chose Cafe Roux for lunch. We ordered some salads, burgers and chips with hake. The waiters were friendly and very helpful, including checking up on us multiple times to ensure our needs were met. Atmosphere was quite gorgeous, in a beautiful beach suburb nearby. It was overall a relaxing, safe place with great food varieties and friendly staff. We will definitely be returning!

The performances are always so good here. Blue jets were amazing. Original and so rad. Service was okay considering the show but the food took a step backward. The old butter chicken we loved is gone and the steak we had and fish / calamari was just really not what it once was. Not bad just for what you paying and getting it wasn’t what it was. A place we’ll always keep going to but hope the kitchen gets a sprinkle of TLC.

Went to Cafe Roux with some good friends on Friday evening to watch the Reggae Group "Rivertones" perform. We had pre booked tickets and reserved a table. We had a table positioned right up close and personal to the stage which was fabulous. Our waitress brought menus to the table and took our drinks order. We then each perused the menu with a good selection of foods from pizza, pasta, burgers, meats, soups and salads and also vegetarian options. Each of us then ordered various dishes. I ordered the Pesto Pasta with tagliatelli and chicken added. My friends ordered steak and chips, Pasta Al Funghi, Home Made Lasagne, Go Big or Go Home Burgers. Drinks arrived and we ordered two bottles of Red wine for the table. The meals arrived and were well presented and decent portions. My Pesto pasta was absolutely delicious. I certainly didn't hear any complaints from my friends in their choice of meals. All fine fare !! After we had finished our meals the restaurant was full and abuzz and on came The Rivertones. What a fantastic evening of Reggae music, very well played and amazing singing and guitar by lead vocalist Roland Geoffrey Nair. Fabulous atmosphere and everyone got involved making it a fun evening. Cafe Roux is a great venue, with loads of excellent entertainment during the week and weekends. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner sittings inside and outside when the weather is more welcoming. Warm welcoming atmosphere, great staff , fabulous food and drinks. I can highly recommend this venue 10/10 and will most certainly be back for more fabulous food and entertainment.

A Tavola is a popular Italian restaurant located in Library Square, Claremont. Since its opening in 2008, it has been known for delivering traditional Italian flavors to packed houses. The dining room and patio are colorful and spotlit, creating a casual ambiance with views of Library Square. The open-plan kitchen fills the air with hearty aromas of bold Italian flavors using fresh, seasonal produce and organic ingredients like herbs, vegetables, pasture-reared beef, sustainable fish, and handmade pasta.
We popped in for an early dinner after spending a full day at hospital, we were hungry and never had a booking! They kindly gave us a table! The service was incredible, our waiter was efficient and very personable! The food was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was lovely! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you looking for top class Italian food!

My absolute favorite Italian restaurant. The food is next level, not your average dinning experience. Great wine selection and I cannot even explain how good the food is. Pasta lovers, this is the place! If you like seafood, the Linguine Pescatore is 20/10! Ask for a dash of Tomato for the pasta sauce.

The first time we went to A Tavola was in May 2013. Since then it is one of our favourite places to have a great food experience with fine ingredients, and a accompanied with excellent wines. The wine list is quite diverse. The specials are really special with an authentic Italian touch. The service is professional and friendly. The atmosphere is casual and pleasant. Sophistication without ostentation.

Wow!!! Absolutely amazing food! We were a table of 9, the service was attentive and quick. And the food!!! Would absolutely recommend everything, but stand out was the veal dish. Lovely atmosphere, will definitely be back.

Food was average - not great but also not bad. Presentation was good and portion sizes were decent but flavours were a lot more subtle than I expected given the rave reviews about the place. Maybe it was because it was the week before they were closing for the holidays.

First time visit and suitably impressed. This is how a restaurant should be run - attentive but unobtrusive management and waiters. Good menu selection, including some old favorites that aren’t that popular anymore. Fantastic wine list, with a great selection by the glass - many restaurants could use this wine list as an example of how to do it right. Our waitress was knowledgeable and highly proficient. Well-heeled crowd, who were obviously enjoying themselves on a Wednesday night. My spaghetti vongole was fantastic but could have been a slightly bigger portion (more clams!). The SO devoured her line fish (kabeljou) and pronounced it to be excellent (even though she’s a salmon fan). No time for dessert, unfortunately, so we will have to go back. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Klein Constantia Estate, established in 1685, is a picturesque 146-hectare wine estate with a year-round tasting room. Originally part of the historic Constantia, it boasts decomposed granite soils and ocean-cooled slopes ideal for winemaking. Despite setbacks from phylloxera, the estate was restored in 1980 and now produces renowned dessert wines and award-winning dry wines.
Had always been on my bucket list. A must experience to visit this estate. The staff is very friendly and the gift shop is just incredible. I would have loved if the staff had guided us more with the wine tasting as my husband was not that experienced in this experience.

Lovely experience visiting Klein Constantia. Exceptional wine and the team are very helpful. The restaurant offers great meals. You must try the skin mousse in the shop.
Lizanne G — Google review
Such a disappointing experience. The only positive was the bistro where we had lunch, otherwise a total let down. Arrived at the tasting room, zero effort from the staff to establish a rapport. The guy running our tasting disappeared half way through so we were adopted by another person. We visited towards the end of the day and you could tell they couldn't be bothered with us. The manageress, a lady wearing a gilet was openly bossing the staff around in preparation for the following day, such a mood killer. I actually asked the guy if he enjoyed working there as I was worried for his welfare. Then a random dog turned up after running around the room where they make the wine (is that even hygienic?) Finally because you have to pay in advance for wine tasting we were essentially dumped after our final tasting, no one asked us if we wanted to buy any of the wines which we had sampled and I overheard the manager asking the staff why we were lingering around for so long as she wanted to close up and go home. She also said "god I need a glass of wine, after all the most important people here need a drink" i.e. the staff were more important than the customers. What a bad experience, there are better places in the area for wine tasting. The senior staff are clearly complacent and have been doing the job too long to care about the customer experience.

Klein was a great winery to visit! We had Michele helping us and she was great, very knowledgeable and kind! The red wine was great & we really loved the dessert wine. I would recommend visiting here!

Excellent experience. They have a wonderful sweet white wine that can compete with all the Sauternes. Napoleon used to drink it. The estate is beautiful and staff are so friendly. We enjoyed it very much

The place was easy to find the staff were tops especially Mitchell who was assisting us on that day she was very sweet knew what she was talking about she knows the wines from the back of her head she first started us with a sparkling wine it was so lovely and fruity My favourite was the Sauvignon Blanc 2023 Fresh aromas of grapefruit, limes and kiwi burst on the nose. The palate is moreish with balanced flavours of quince, citrus blossom, umami and a bittersweet aspect. Salivating with fresh salinity, lively and a vibrant acidity. Textured and expressive, the wine concludes with a long crisp finish. 😂😂😂 The was another one that I remember that was having a vanilla taste And the last one was a desert wine mmmmh I’ve never had such wine in my entire life it was the first I really enjoyed the experience that you guy your service is remarkable the place is very nice close to the Table Mountain stay safe

Beautiful wine estate. The trees and gardens are well kept and then you walk into this beautiful wine tasting and restaurant area that takes your breath away. Our staff attended were well trained and he explained in detail of every wine we tasted. The gift shop have amazing variety of gifts and the bathrooms were immaculately clean. The wine is expensive and the taste was not doing my palate any favors.I have know how a sauvignon blanc should taste and I know how a chardonnay should taste but I was not convinced here. The cap classique did not have any lingering aftertaste..It fell flat. Thus my summary..For a heritage experience this is the place but for wine with easy drinking character I will not recommend. You cannot trust a long history of wine production and history can save you from a wine that does not make my taste buds go crazy…

Fine dining restaurant
Salsify at the Roundhouse is a top-tier restaurant in Cape Town, owned by chef Ryan Cole and backed by Luke Dale-Roberts. The establishment offers modern cuisine with a focus on seasonal ingredients, complemented by stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Lions Head. The edgy-chic interiors, including seasonal installations and avant-garde graffiti, add to the overall dining experience.
Salsify offers a very special dining experience. Upon arrival I was offered an aromatic hand wash with salt scrub. I was then guided to an antechamber containing incredible wall art, a shelf full of assorted ingredients and a small bar. I was served an amuse-bouche with accompanying small cocktail while the services shared many interesting details of the houses history and prior owners. We then preceded to the dining room, where each table has a phenomenal view of the coast and 12 apostles. I chose the full tasting menu, but did not opt for the wine pairing. Each course was beautiful and delicious, but the services and overall experience was really the stand-out for me.
Sarah V — Google review
I can easily say this is the best all round restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The menu was pleasing to the mouth and the eyes. I had a wine pairing and it was beautiful but I also really appreciated how they had a ‘soft’ pairing for my non drinking friends. They were also very accommodating with substitutions which I appreciated. From the hand scrub at the welcoming to the welcoming room with the art on the walls and the local ingredients in the cocktail and snacks it was a great experience. As a historian I loved how they told us a story about the place’s roots and appreciated details about the art. Amazing evening all around.
Mugisha H — Google review
This will be a review slightly different to most. The food is exceptional. All of the dishes were balanced and delightful on the eyes and mouth. However, after 9 courses and some tasty snack extras, I wasn’t expecting to leave Salsify hungry, particularly not for the price paid (pizza was eaten on the way home). The above issue could be rectified in two ways: 1. Slightly larger portion sizes 2. Have the meals come out faster - we started our experience at 6pm and were not complete until 9:30pm. The service was fine - nothing exceptional and I wouldn’t say overly personal either. There was a mix up between what dessert we were having and we almost missed a course completely. We waited for the palette cleanser before dessert for about 25 minutes before staff cleared the cutlery for the course that we weren’t served. Again, small things but you are paying a premium and expect premium product as a result. Finally, the views are stunning so it may be better experienced at lunch. But that completes the comments on atmosphere. I still enjoyed my experience overall, but, I wouldn’t be rushing back quickly. There is likely other fine dining restaurants that charge less of a premium and leave you with your appetite satiated.

We visited Salsify recently as two girlfriends and did their tasting menu, which was the chef’s choice. From start to finish, our experience was absolutely seamless. We were greeted by name at the door and began with their signature hand-washing ritual — a beautiful touch where you receive a hand scrub before entering the first room. We were then guided into the cocktail and welcome room, where we enjoyed a smoking cocktail alongside a king crab tartlet that was incredible. Watching the mixologist prepare our drinks added to the experience. I’ve never dined anywhere that transitions you through different rooms during a meal, and it made the evening feel truly special and immersive. Afterward, we were brought into the main dining room for the rest of the tasting menu. Our server, Luke, was exceptional — incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about every dish, explaining each component and technique in detail. The food was innovative, flavorful, and beautifully cohesive, with each course building perfectly on the last. Because we had an early flight the next morning, we opted out of the wine pairing and chose the tea pairing instead — something I had never tried before. I’m so glad we did. The depth, aroma, and thought behind each tea pairing were incredible and elevated the entire experience in such a unique way. Overall, I highly, highly recommend Salsify if you’re in Cape Town. The views are stunning, the atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, and the entire experience feels world-class. As American tourists, we also found the price to be extremely fair for the quality and creativity you receive. Truly a memorable dining experience.

After reading that Salsify had been awarded Eat Out’s restaurant of the year, I found it only fitting to make the earliest booking so I could try it out for myself. I must admit, I didn’t do much research on the restaurant beforehand like I normally do, but I was pleasantly surprised by an unforgettable experience, a few personal touches, and exceptional food. The best way to describe it is an elevated trip down memory lane. On Thursday afternoon, my business partner and I took the scenic route to The Roundhouse, located at the top of Camps Bay. We were greeted by the host who directed us to our first unexpected gift, a hand washing ceremony, spritz of cleansing essences, scrub with a herbaceous salt mix, then warm water from a jug. Once dried on soft towels, we were escorted to a waiting room filled with graffiti, jars of interesting ingredients, and a bartender whipping up welcome drinks with tweezers, it felt magical. He stayed in my periphery as our host explained the building’s heritage and the careful restoration. Our drinks arrived with a little gift, a rich, vibrant green, gin based spritz, fresh, balanced, and gentle on the alcohol. The accompanying bite in a polished shell was salty, fresh, such a lovely, interactive start to the afternoon. Next, we were shown to our seats at elegant tables draped in white, overlooking the Atlantic on a gloomy day. Couldn’t have asked for a more exquisite setting. I sank into a velvety chair as we ordered sparkling water and browsed the menu. We chose the seven‑course lunch menu (R1240 pp), an elevated trip down memory lane. Each course sparked childhood memories, all served sophisticatedly. It was like honouring my inner child while embracing my adult “old soul” self. Apologies for the spiritual detour! Our first courses, roasted oyster and chicken skin tart. The warm oyster had a raw texture, immediately reminded me of my first time at Dunes, chewing and chewing, unsure what to do. I appreciated it more this time. The tart? Genius, a cross between original Lay’s chips and chicken‑flavoured two‑minute noodles. Salty, savoury, crispy, all wrapped in perfection. Gone too soon. Then came the 12 hour sourdough and milk stout butter. I usually don’t like butter, but this was divine, hops sweetened, rosemary dusted, and evocative of my grandma’s rusks before the second bake. So warm, so nostalgic. The beetroot course arrived next: golden beetroot in cashew cream, walnut pesto, pickled guava, topped with a leaf tuile. Delicate, earthy, contrasted beautifully by sweet‑sour guava, which reminded me of Woolworths’ guava juice. The tuile added salt and crunch, and the beetroot was exactly like how my mom used to make it. My absolute favourite bite: “Autumn Impressions”, cheesy potato dumplings with foraged mushrooms. Served by the enthusiastic Duncan and yes, striking masterpieces were on that plate. My perfect forkful was stunning, rich, creamy, glossy, cheesy, chewy. It was a warm, loving hug in flavour form. I barely spoke, I just savoured. For mains, I chose the beef fillet with chakalaka, jollof rice, and dombolo, a true braai reminder. Medium‑rare fillet, buttery soft, cooked perfectly. The jus enhanced it, chakalaka and jollof brought heat and tang, and the dumpling soaked up every flavour. A very well thought‑out course, I polished my plate. Then the palate cleanser: pandan cake tasting exactly like my mom’s birthday cupcakes, fluffy, topped with chamomile mousse. Lime pineapple salsa on the side reminded me of granadilla lollies from beach holidays. Pure nostalgia and joy. Last, dessert, the Salsify chocolate bar, layered shortbread base, peanut‑butter brittle, dark chocolate coating, with a boozy whiskey ice cream. Like a grown up Black Cat Peanut Butter bar. Decadent, indulgent, fun to eat. The strong ice cream balanced the richness beautifully. Overall, I had a fantastic afternoon. The food was not just delicious, it took me on a personal journey. It takes real talent to invoke emotion through a meal. Thank you Salsify, till next time!

Disappointing meal but theres some things quite enjoyable so its not all bad. The experience starts off well with a unique hand wash and amuse bouche. The vibe is sit down with white table clothes, nice glasses and crockery. The menu itself tries to incorporate South African elements but doesnt have a cultural or taste flow - its kind of contemporary with a flavours from all over. Although this isnt my preference, its reminiscent of Luke Dale style, and reminds me of the test kitchen. I didn't enjoy the food, nor did I particulatly dislike anything.e. Unlike my recent experience at Pier (which was fabulous) none of the dishes were particularly special here, save for a morish chocolate dessert. Wait staff are nice but lack refinement in appearance, style and knowledge of the meat source, chocolate source etc. For the price - sadly this isn't my choice for the best meal and experience. I enjoyed the dessert without the ice cream. I left feeling hungry and somewhat unfulfilled.

Been there on the birthday of my girlfriend this weekend. We had such an amazing experience. Food and location have been great! Also the service was very good and helpful. We are in capetown now 5 years in a row and the first time at Salsify. It’s now in our top 5 experiences in the city.

Stunning location near the lawns with amazing sunset views. Be sure to get the tables closer to the Centre to have unobstructed views out the window. We were welcomed with an odd hand wash to “slow us down”. Very obnoxious, odd and really unnecessary. Not for me. The fine dining experience was amazing, the hospitality, the friendliness, the attention to detail. Everything was top tier besides the food. We opted for the full experience, full fine dining experience with the wine pairing. I’ll mention some highlights and some lows. Coal roasted Oysters - small and bland. Bread & butter - fresh and tasted amazing. Chokka - fresh, light and delicious Wagyu - deep with flavor. Perfection. Steamed pork - interesting texture Local cheese - not for me. The overall food rating is decent but I was expecting more for that price point. I left still feeling hungry. The wine to food ratio is completely off. But perhaps for some that is perfect. I’d return to try the food if the menu changes and perhaps for those special occasions.

Old Town Italy Constantia is a charming family-owned Italian restaurant in the heart of Constantia Village. The homely trattoria offers a warm and friendly atmosphere with traditional pasta dishes, creative wood-fired pizzas, and a wide outdoor seating area overlooking the greenery of High Constantia. With over 20 years of experience, this restaurant serves up authentic Italian cuisine with a variety of pasta dishes and other favorites on the menu.
Old Town Italy is a charming little restaurant with an excellent menu. The service was quick and waiter really did an awesome job of getting the job done. I'd heard and seen much about this restaurant recently on Instagram and it certainly lived up to its marketing. I would highly recommend it.

Absolutely a disaster. We ordered pizza as a starter. They arrived 52 minutes later. No apologies. Lady at the front door was on another planet, did not care or even try to enquire what was wrong after several attempts to get her attention. Mains eventually arrived. Ridiculously tiny portions. The pasta's arrive in a tiny 18cm bowl. I genuinely thought they were starter's. If you hungry don't come here. If you feel like a three hour wait then come here.

Honestly, Old Town Italy never misses! We did the pizza-making class with some friends and had the BEST time. The instructor was awesome—super fun and gave us tons of great tips for making pizza at home. Such a cool activity, whether it’s with friends, a date night, or even family. The vibes were perfect, the food and drinks were amazing, and as always, the service was on point. Huge shout-out to Bongi for making the night extra special. Overall Rating: • Price range: $$ • Quality of food: 3/5 • Value for Money: 4/5 I’ve visited Old Town Italy in Constantia three times in 2024 and have also been to branches in Durban and Pretoria. While the ambiance at Constantia is consistently pleasant, the food quality hasn’t matched the experience I’ve had at other locations. On my first visit, the restaurant wasn’t very busy, and the overall dining experience was fantastic. The food was tasty, and the service was smooth. However, during my second and third visits (both during busy lunch hours), the quality of the pasta was inconsistent. On my second visit, the pasta was soggy, while on the third visit, it was slightly undercooked and too firm.

There are some ways a restaurant can remain operationally stable when in demand. Hire more waiters, hire more chefs, value sells to waiting customers. Old Town Italy has taken the unique route of having such bad service that, by never coming back, they ensure they remain at (barely) operational stability. The fastest service I received was when I eventually stood up to pay at the door because not even the bill managed to find its way to our table. Service so slow, they can't even take my money fast. The food? R190 for what was supposed to be ragu... I've made better Knor bolognaise at home. The cocktails tasted like mouthwash. The salad was okay? The polenta side, never arrived. The wine? Cancelled. The desert? Who would even stick around to find out.
Magnus V — Google review
Booked a table this evening for 2 for a celebration and what a huge disappointment. I 100% understand slower service on a very busy evening (usually good establishments would hire more staff... Or simply warn and apologise beforehand). We waited 40 minutes for 2 cocktails, which arrived with our food. By the time our food was finished the wine arrived so we cancelled the order. I never received my side dish of polenta I ordered, which I was looking forward to most so ended up cancelling that order by the time we asked for the bill. Saw the waiter and other servers so little there was barely a chance to follow up on our requests. Didn't end up ordering dessert (really was looking forward to the tiramisu and the biggest reason we decided to book at an Italian restaurant in Constantia) because the rest of the service was so bad.

AN EXCELLENT PLACE FOR AN ADULT PARTY WOWZA!!!! I had the best 40th birthday ever. And it would not have been so great without Jenna (event coordinator), and the staff that took care of us on the day. Sean (our waiter) was so great, the kitchen freaking outdone themselves. And the CAKES! Wow, I am so happy I didn’t bring in a cake of my own. Their cakes are really amazing. I want to express my gratitude. Jenna made this whole process easy and stress free and I am grateful to the Hout Bay Branch for being incredibly accommodating. Then the Manager (Gaffin), Sean, and the team that helped him, ensured the day went smooooth. Everything I asked for was ready to go and Sean was on it. This is such a valuable service to customers, especially today when the ball gets dropped all too often. I am so impressed with their service. The table setup blew my mind, very cute thank you, the help offered to the guests who hadn’t been there before was so kind and considerate, every single person was happy. My day was perfect.

Amazing place to visit with family or friends. It's a restaurant plus you do crafts while you're eating. Lots of clay plates, cups, jugs, egg trays, vases, toast plate, etc to paint and many colours to choose from. Quite a few energy using playground options for the kids to do outside from a water trail fountain to a kids safe trampoline/ jumping castle. Another great new thing they added is they have 2 kitchens, one strictly Halaal and the other not so Muslims can enjoy a meal there if they choose. You do have to wait up to a month though for your finished clay products and return to collect them then. The prices here could be better but it's a great experience to do.

The Nest Deli is a lovely cafe with great views of the Constantia Winelands and delicious breakfast options. The staff are friendly and efficient, contributing much to the excellent rating. The cafe also has a relaxing garden setting.
An absolutely delightful venue, among a choice on site, with gorgeous views, the right amount of shade, good service and relaxed atmosphere. Iced coffee was delicious and then I enjoyed the devilled chicken livers as a treat. The pasta portion was also generous and they happily boxed up leftovers to take home.

We had lunch here a few ago on a glorious Friday afternoon, one of those perfect winter days. Good is well-presented and tasty, but my quinoa and chickpea salad came minus the chickpeas! I was distracted with all the chatter and only realised halfway through when my friend enquired how my salad was. I was offered a discount of 20% which I didn’t think went far enough, however, the manager was most apologetic and did offer me half portion to take home instead. Beautiful setting, I’ll definitely be back.

LOVE this spot nestled in Uitsig. We found a nice sunny table on the deck, sheltered from the wind and enjoy personal, first rate service from both our waiter and management. Very cool clientele there too - chilled, relaxed vibe - perfect for Sunday brunch. Our brunch started at 11am and ended at about 3pm because we were enjoying ourselves so much! Ooh - that champagne and orange juice combo is wicked….

The service, the naturally beautiful environment, the lavish, landscaped gardens, the smiles, the food - all this would make ANY Capetonian proud of being a 'local' with all this magical beauty at one's doorstep. The ONLY things I do not like about visiting here is that you have to pay for parking - it's outdoors and secluded. The other is the hefty price tag, but then you are paying for dining and being served at one of the most wonderful settings in the world!

Service was sluggish even though the restaurant was two thirds empty (perhaps I should have taken the empty restaurant as a warning?) My first and second options from the menu wasn't available. So I ordered the steak, medium. It arrived seared only, still bleeding. Unfortunately it was also covered in a sticky sweet basting, so I was worried that sending it back would mean it will be returned burnt. Furthermore, my drinks order was wrong (I ordered a nonalcoholic drink and she brought me the alcoholic version). As we were about to leave, the manager arrived and asked me: "Are you good?" Now... what does that even mean?! I try to be a good person, but I'm not happy with the service nor with my food. Does that make me bad? I digress... my dog was very happy with her steak dinner. And my partner enjoyed his beer.

I first experienced the Punjab chain of restaurants, back in 2017, at Punjab Wok, in Century City. It fast became my favourite restaurant and I could be found eating there most weekends! Sadly, it closed down. So I tried it’s sister restaurant, Punjab Kenilworth hoping to relive the taste extravaganza that was Punjab Wok. But it never really did live up to my expectations. This restaurant though, is such a breath of fresh air. It is a modern take on Indian cuisine, with some flirtations with Mexican and Italian cuisines too. It still doesn’t quite match up to my beloved Punjab Wok, but I must commend the owners for their bravery - it’s unlike any other Indian restaurant I’ve been too. The food is flavour-packed and beautifully presented. Oh, and they make their own beer! An over-achiever amongst Indian restaurants in Cape Town.

Aesthetically the restaurant is gorgeous. Lots of glass, wood, modern finishes and dull colours make it a really comfortable place to be. The beer is surprisingly good too, with the witbier the definite highlight. The food, however, is overpriced. R85 for a taco starter is steep, and R70 for an aubergine side even more so. At least the nachos are worth it.

Beautiful setting at Constantia Emporium. Totally enjoyed our brunch, good servings at an affordable price. Very tasty Mexican dishes. Will definitely recommend and we'll return.

Finally got a chance to have brunch this morning at this brewery. Freshly pressed orange juice, great coffee, a delicious eggs benedict topped off with a scenic view with such great service. Looking forward to that happy hour !!

Food: The food was Meh-to-Okay - but from a restaurant it feels it should be at least Good. We tried the brisket, fish, pizza and garlic naan - all very Meh or Okay at best and it definitely felt like we could have had a lot better at home. I got hardly any flavour from fish or brisket - it's pretty sad when the best thing we were served was the sauteed brussel sprouts. We ordered the pizza directly in the box and this was what it looked like. Beverages: Iced coffee was literally filter coffee with ice cubes in a wine glass - fair enough but as Cape Townians we expect a bit of creaminess in the realm of a shake: 1 star Orange/Carrot/Ginger juice was really good, a bit frothy but right ratios: 4 stars Water: My glass came with a ring of black mould around it - enough said. Service: Really GREAT, very friendly, the staff get 5 stars. :D Venue: Lovely jasmine, and quiet but not breath-taking. 4 stars. Overall rating is 2 because why spend some serious money on Meh Food? Maybe try one curry?

This is the best place for a husband who does not want to go shopping. Come sit on the most relaxing chairs, spacious and with a limited menu, you can snack on something small or huge. They brew their own beers which are awesome tasting.

Lovely service and my nachos were good, lager not as effervescent and slightly more hoppy compared to mass produced. Husband's pizza felt over priced and the base was super thin, like flat, no yeast bread like growth.

This restaurant is an absolute gem. Great food, reasonably priced and excellent service. Stunning view and gardens. Lovely outdoor area, and a cosy indoor fire on those chilly days. Wheelchair friendly, and accessible parking.

We had our engagement breakfast on Saturday morning at Four and Twenty Uitsig and it was a fairy tale morning for my fiance and I. The venue was amazing with a small fire at the fireplace to get everyone warm and comfortable with the winter weather. The food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. Thank you to Tracy and Tamla for making such an important moment in our lives one that we will never forget because it was magical. Everything came together and the family had an amazing time - Thank you <3

Just ticks every imaginable box. I would say it needs to be a decent weather day although inside does look cosy the real splendour is being outside. Food is great, all of it won’t go wrong there. Dimbo was our waiter and sublime 👌🏼 Really great spot in the Tokai area.

Quiet and peaceful with good views. Great waiters. The rose garden nearby is beautiful. The food menu is well curated and a great bunch of interesting options. I do not recommend the iced mocha. The food and drinks are expensive. You have to pay for parking and it is expensive to park.

Stunning location for one! Can not get a better brunch view... the tortellini is divine! A must have when you visit... Best get there by 11 if you want to get your hands on some... they sell out fast! Their eggs benny is also one to try :)

Beautiful setting on the Constantia Uitsig wine farm. Ample parking. Lots of restaurants on offer here. My mother has a walker and managed easily here. Our parking was validated by the restaurant. I don't understand why the toilet door needs to remain locked. Coffee is great. The food is good but a little on the pricey side for what you get. I suppose the area dictates this. Most of the tables were full. It seemed like the staff were a bit overwhelmed. They are very friendly and courteous but not too responsive. Probably because it was so busy. This was our 2nd visit. So obviously its a nice plekkie. I hear the ice cream shop next door is great.

A close friend of mine asked me to liase with the owner/staff iot to celebrate her mom's 80th bday here. What a pleasure dealing with everyone. So helpful. Value for money. The venue is something else. We were a group of 30 people ranging from 23 to 91 years old. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We met at 10am and stayed till 1h30pm or a bit later. We required a strictly halal spread. I think it's called the breakfast feast. All I know is that we were stuffed. There was ample to eat. Some lovely looking cakes too. We got boxes to take home the left over cakes. I would go back in a heart beat. I would recommend the venue for a small function approximately 30 to 35 guests. The event was a huge success. If the weather was bad, we were going to have the party indoors, that would've been nice and cozy. Luckily for us, the weather was amazing and we sat outside. The photo opportunities are are amazing. The rose garden will take your breath away..

Chef Julia de Toit curates an unpretentious menu featuring high-quality ingredients sourced from local farmers and small producers.

High Tea @ Cellars Hohenhort / The Greenhouse R455 p.p Only on Saturdays and Sundays Book online, full payment required to secure reservation I haven't been to Cellars Hohenhort for High Tea since 2021. Firstly, I was disappointed that High Tea was no longer served in the Conservatory - which is so incredibly beautiful (especially after their renovations). I do understand, though, that this location now serves as their dining area, and it was clearly fully booked for lunch while we were enjoying our High Tea in The Greenhouse. The location that we now sat in was all right, but nothing spectacular. We did get rather hot in our corner where we sat, as the window didn't open to allow a draught. There was no aircon in our section. Cellars Hohenhort has also chosen to serve their high tea in 4 servings instead of on one tray / stand. It may actually be a welcome change as your savories and scones are served warm. The High Tea savories and desserts were delicious and exquisitely presented! I also thoroughly enjoyed 3 of their teas. I highly recommend taking a stroll in the gardens afterward!

Nestled in the Constantia suburb of Cape Town, Bistro Sixteen82 at Steenberg wine estate offers an unpretentious brasserie-style menu with a modern twist. The bistro's design draws inspiration from 21st-century wine-making, featuring stainless-steel vats and a contemporary ambiance with bright light, clean lines, whites, and greys.
Bistro Sixteen82 is always a win. The food is beautifully prepared, fresh, flavorful, and creative without trying too hard. The setting is absolutely stunning, surrounded by the vineyards, which makes the whole experience feel relaxed yet refined. The service was attentive and friendly, and everything came together perfectly for a laid-back breakfast. Definitely one of the best spots in the Constantia area for great food and a great vibe.

Very nice lunch here with some bubbles and oysters to start. Great service and ambience. Not a lot of space around the tables which makes it feel slightly cramped (which I don’t mind at all). Menu options are wide, with pretty interesting fusion characteristics but solid classics as well. Oysters were fresh as can be, beef tataki exceptional. Always a very nice and pleasant experience at Bistro Sixteen82 on a sunny day!

Overall this was a great experience. The tapas are delicious. This is a great way to taste a variety of different dishes. We ordered 6 dishes which was a lot. There's a winter tapas board for two available which is what we were initially in for, but we changed our minds and ordered other dishes. Well worth it. Beautiful surroundings.

Bistro Sixteen82 – Exceptional Food in a Breathtaking Winery Setting Bistro Sixteen82, located on the stunning Steenberg Wine Estate, is easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Cape Town. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between relaxed and refined, with vineyard views that elevate the entire experience. The food was outstanding. The service was friendly, professional, and well-informed — especially when it came to recommending the perfect wine pairings from Steenberg’s own cellar. You really feel like you’re in the heart of a working winery, yet treated like a guest at a fine dining destination. If you’re visiting Cape Town, this spot is a must. Whether for a romantic lunch, a wine-paired dinner, or just to soak in the views over a glass of bubbly, Bistro Sixteen82 delivers on every level.

I love a good dinner special, so we decided to try the Tapas for 2 at Bistro 1682. Firstly the atmosphere was impeccable. The sparking chandelier over the wine tasting bar is stunning 😍 and the aesthetics of the dinning area is magnificent. The service on the on day could have been better. Towards the end of the night, I struggled to get someone to help with taking our order and getting us the bill. Onto the food: The Soup was good, a little too sweet but enjoyable in small quantities. 4/5 The west mussels were okay, unfortunately they were underwhelming compared to the pickled fish that came with it. 3/5 The pickled fish was so delicious and was surprisingly the star of the show. I would definitely enjoy a bigger plate of this 5/5 Chicken livers: The livers were bland and overcooked. The polenta complimented the dish well but unfortunately did not make up for the lack of taste 3/5 Beff Potstickers: This dish was disappointing. The pastry was too hard, the beef was too chewy and the garnishment not being compatible. We ended up not fishing this dish the way it was so bad 2/5 If you got this far. Thank you for reading my review.

Bombay Brasserie is a refined Indian restaurant located in the Taj Hotel, Cape Town. The restaurant offers an intimate dining experience with ornate, handblown glass chandeliers and luxurious fabrics in a former Reserve Bank Building. Guests can choose from a five-course chef's menu or order a la carte from a menu featuring new takes on authentic Indian classics.
Had a wonderful fine dining experience. Very warm welcome. Staff were amazingly friendly and efficient explaining each course to us. We settled for the set menu which was a fantastic choice. Food was most delicious. My parents were so fascinated about the palette cleanser before the main meal which was amusingly cute. Before we received our starters we received mango lassis and dhai puris with compliments from the Chef. PS. Dnt stress about no parking on Wale str as they will park ur car for you and provide you with a docket.

Lovely Indian restaurant in CBD, part of the Taj Cape Town Hotel. Very pleasant setting. Expressive menu. Good wine selection. Food was very good. The butter chicken is NOT to be missed. Delectable. If you want to get a general idea of the menu they offer a sampler menu (vegetarian and non-veg option) with 3-4 starters, 3 mains, and a fusion desert. All for almost R600. Service can be a bit slow, but kind and helpful. All in all a good experience.

We had a pleasant dinner here as the food was good and the staff incredibly hospitable. All of the curries had a good amount of spice to them but I found the crème brûlée to be lacking a bit in terms of the chai that was supposed to be there.

You can’t miss this!!! After discovering this spot, I returned to it multiple times. If you’re looking for the best chai in India - look no further! I tried a variety of meals on their menu and everything was exceptional. My favourite was definitely the mutton biryani (did somebody say non boneless???) which was so rich in flavor and had melt in your mouth mutton. I’ll visit this star of Mumbai on every trip from now on!

Took advantage of a special they were running and had a lovely meal with the butter chicken being a particular standout dish. Naans were crispy and chewy which is just the way I like them, Lamb Rogan Josh was very tasty and my only observation is that the black Dahl was not as good as the one at Bukara. All in all a lovely evening with good company which didn't break the bank.

We celebrated our anniversary at Bombay Brasserie, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The evening felt luxurious from the moment we arrived, thanks to valet parking and the stunning decor that set the tone for the night. Our waiter, Athini, was fantastic—so professional and attentive. He really went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of, and it made all the difference. The food was exceptional. We had the pani puri, paneer tikka masala, chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, and naan—every dish was full of flavor and beautifully done. As a lovely touch, we were given a complimentary dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Everything from the service to the setting made us feel truly special. Highly recommend for a memorable evening out.

This restaurant has garnered attention for its warm ambiance and welcoming staff, making it an ideal spot for a cozy dinner. Guests have raved about dishes like the Lamb Kaliya Kesar, a rich curry with creamy cashew flavors that perfectly embodies the essence of Indian cooking.
It was a fantastic evening. Thanks to Abdul for giving us amazing service and making it a memorablenight for us all. The butter chicken was as always absolutely stunning and the whole table enjoyed all the food. I must point out though that the carrot pudding is very much an aquired taste that I didn't like. The icecream with chocolate filo pastry balls were to die for tho. Very good experience thank you!

Visited this establishment tonight, what a pleasant surprise. My girlfriend specifically wanted a curry so we chose this place to try. We arrived quite late, just after 9pm having traveled from Stellenbosch. We were welcomed by Abdul and shown to a table, underneath a welcome heater as the weather had turned and it was a cool rainy night. Menus were brought and a wine list. I chose the Lamb Kaliya Kesar, a creamy cashew based curry. Lamb was boneless and tender, curry was well tempered and a pleasant consistency. My girlfriend chose the Ostrich Tikka Masala, a tomato based, well flavoured, very hot curry of good consistency. We chose rice and naan breads, all of which are charged for separately. Sambal salad is also charged for. We chose a 2016 Alto Rouge which paired well with the food and the cool weather. Service was great and a very attentive Abdul always close at hand. The manager was very pleasant and came to check on us. A very pleasant evening and great food. Highly recommended. I rate this place 8.5 / 10
SIMON T — Google review
After reading many reviews about the curry (average to good), higher than average prices, strange menu with curry and sushi and not great service I was unsure what to expect. I was however pleasantly surprised by the food which is very authentic and impressed with the service. We had paneer tikka for a starter which was good but the paneer could have benefited from being marinaded prior to prep. For mains we had a curried game dish (ostrich and springbok) with a saag gosht curry sauce and paneer makhni (vegetarian), roomali rotis and garlic naan. Our waiter was very attentive and provided lots of suggestions with good advice about our selected dishes. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about us having great curry and overall good dining experience. Such a pity we didn't get his name. He has been with the restaurant for about 4 months and hails from Durban (my hometown). We had table near the fireplace which was a perfect accompaniment for the good food and rainy, cold weather that evening. It warrants a return visit. Recommended. Visited August 2017.

Friendly staff, a big selection of dishes, but quite pricey overall. Ordered the chicken Tikka starter which was 4 pieces tender chicken, but tasted extremely bland. The mild masala prawn curry also tasted very bland, looked and tasted more like a carrot puree. The Nizami Gosht Biryani portion was quite big and flavourful with tender pieces off lamb the bone. The Laccha Paratha which is a layered roti was R34 each, which it quite pricey, considering that you must order roti, naan or rice with your curry as it does not come with any. The curry was about R198 for a small portion. The rice kheer was quite nice, but the portion was extremely small for R58. It was about the size of two tablespoons of rice. Will go back to try other dishes off the menu. Maybe it will be better. EDIT: R44 for 750ml water ??!?!??!!??

The ingredients are sourced from the estate's organic vegetable garden whenever possible. Guests can savor their meals in the cozy interior by the fireplace during winter or on the terrace with stunning views during summer. The eatery also features an impressive selection of Constantia Valley wines, including Silvermist's own vintage.
Great views & the staff made a huge effort to give good service. The portions are very generous, although definitely not fine dining. Great location to take kids. Walk through the vineyard in front of the restaurant and find the pig enclosure, which the kids loved.

I’ve always loved breakfast meetings here, but there’ve been some changes since my last visit. The drumming and singing is great, but not a few metres from a table where you literally cannot hear yourself think, let alone hear what the person next to you is saying. There used to be such a peaceful ambiance with the sheep and bunnies and beautiful view in the mornings, but today was a VERY different vibe. I literally apologised to the people I’d invited to meet me there and won’t go back again, nor recommend. 😔

Very lovely place. Views are great and the fire place was really cozy creating a nice atmosphere. If I have any complaints it would be just that the waiter was not always sure about what was available on the menu. There was no hot chocolate available on a cold winter's day which was on the menu. When scones were ordered the waiter said that they might not have any left. Overall great experience!

We've been here 2 days in a row for breakfast as we are staying at the boutique hotel on site. Breakfast was good both times, service was a bit hit and miss. Most of the staff are quite friendly and smiley but one in particular is not particularly attentive and I had to ask for water twice as he'd gotten distracted by another table (there were only the two tables So not very busy). My main reason for the 3 stars is because I booked a table for us over a month ago for 5pm on Friday as they now are open for dinner on the weekends. We got there a bit later but it wasn't even open and no-one had thought to tell me that my booking had been cancelled. It was a bit inconvenient as we have a young baby so need to work around her bedtime and had to find another restaurant nearby that would accept a walk in on a Friday evening.

Such a gem. We never imagined the views we'd be treated to as we drove up through the Silvermist estate. Wow. Just beautiful. We went for a special breakfast and we weren't disappointed. The coffee was great, the service unintrusive yet professional and the food tasty. The cooked breakfasts were prepared well. Best of the lot was the All Day Rosti, generous on the bacon and hollandaise sauce. The Silvermist Scone (VG) was good, but a little petty to be charged extra when asking for cream. Admittedly they'd no longer be vegan, but they weren't ordered because they were a vegan option. Yes, we'll definitely go back. Looks promising for lunch and dinner too.

I don't know how many times I passed the Silvermist Estate, thinking it was a residential estate. Until today when I luckily didn't miss the turn into the driveway right after Constantia Neck. The driveway leads all the way up until you reach the parking lot. As expected so high up the road, the views are magnificent, across Constantia Valley all the way to the mountains. Beautiful! We sat outside on the deck on this beautiful sunny day and enjoyed a slow going breakfast. Fresh ingredients (including the bacon?!), delicious meals including a lot of vegan/vegetarian options. We truly loved our stay and will be gladly back for the rösti and benedict, followed by coffees.

95 at Parks is a renowned Italian restaurant in the suburbs of the Mother City, offering a homely ambiance amid Constantia's greenery. Chef-owner Giorgio Nava brings back beloved favorites from his inner-city eatery, including the famous butternut ravioli and authentic pizzas. The menu showcases Lombardy flavors using top-notch local ingredients, with dishes like pumpkin ravioli and ossobuco alla Milanese impressing diners.
I absolutely love the siciliana pizzas at 95 at parks. High quality base, sauce and ingredients. Divine. A bit of a hidden gem given how few people know of this restaurants existence. Excellent service. The decor is a bit incosistent as there are signs of tacky low cost choices among the more widespread classy furnishings.

What a weird experience. We arrive for a booking for 4 person's. Waiting for the last person to arrive after 20 minutes to message him to find he got seated in another part of the establishment. After informing the waiter we are waiting for a person??? Go figure. Eventually we ordered, the capacio was excellent value and amazing. The pizza was awesome. The only downside was the meat on mine it tasted like cheap polony. The ravioli was great but the filling was not proportioned to dough. The general appeal is worth it for food and value for money. Definitely worth it.

This place is just magical. The food was excellent! I had the lamb ravioli and it superceded all my expectations. It was delicious! The steaks were just as amazing as I was lucky my group gave me a taster. Their sides are also really great. The whole place is just lovely and I can highly recommend booking some time to go and dine here. Prices are very reasonable and I did see some guests ordering takeaways and then sitting at their bar for a drink while they waited. It's a win win.

Cute place. The setting is nice in that you feel you are at home. The wine list is a bit sad and could do with a few more interesting options. They are pretty mainstream and commercial wines listed in general. There are a few interesting ones like Raats Cab Franc and Catherine Marshall pinot noir. The pasta I had was excellent. One of the best I've had. The avocado salad was OK, I was expecting something with more flavour. The service is lacking in emotion or interest. The guys really didn't appear to want to be there. One of the female staff members was smiling and nice, though. I recommend this place for the pasta.

Our group of 8 enjoyed a delightful evening in the cozy and secluded red room. Upon arrival, we were promptly guided to our section, where we savored a selection of still or sparkling water along with a delicious bread starter. As a lover of Italian cuisine, I couldn't resist trying the Ravioli di Porcini e Tartufo for starters, and it didn't disappoint! Flavorful, well-presented, and perfect for sharing. For the main course, the Il Roast Beef di Manzo 300g with mashed potatoes and béarnaise sauce was a true highlight – cooked to rare perfection and accompanied by a delectable sauce. To cap off the meal, we indulged in the classic Tiramisu, though I wished for a bit more pronounced flavors. Nonetheless, it was satisfying. Overall, our experience at this charming spot was pleasant, with warm and professional service. Managing a table of 8 single-handedly is no small feat! While there were a few hiccups, including finding plastic in some meals and one slightly overcooked dish, the kitchen team promptly addressed these issues. I would recommend this restaurant for a cozy evening of good food and wine.

PRIMI Constantia is a delightful spot that caters to various dietary needs, including gluten-free pizza options, making it an excellent choice for those with specific preferences. This eatery is perfect for a casual lunch or dinner, offering delicious meals at reasonable prices and quick service. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, creating an inviting environment for all diners. While many have enjoyed the friendly staff and tasty food on multiple visits, there have been occasional lapses in service that could use improvement.
I had a great experience here this week. My waiter "Mufassa" was super kind and eager to make my meal a pleasant experience. The food was delicious too!

One of the main reasons we visit this place is that they offer gluten free pizza options which is important for some friends of mine. It’s a great place to have a casual quick lunch or supper for a very reasonable price and speedy service! The staff have such friendly and helpful attitudes and I have always had good experiences here.

We had an amazing dinner served by our very helpful and friendly waiter although when paying the bill had added a tip to our amount that was fully intended for our waiter! Only when paying by card had we been informed that if the tip is not paid via cash the waiters don’t receive their tip intended for them and it goes straight to PRIMI’s pocket! This was deeply disappointing as we really wanted that to be as a thank you to our waiter for his great service! These chain restaurants are seriously extorting their workers and not even having them receive their OWN tips is disgusting! Please check with your waiters in future if they would rather prefer cash instead of just feeding into the owners pockets!
Shihaam P — Google review
In what world are peppers and onions considered "seasonal vegetables"? Asked for a Vegetable Flatbread, and that's what they put on it. Only peppers and onions (menu specifies seasonal vegetables). Manager tried to say that this is their version of vegetables. Worst service EVER! To the owner: let her go. She did not even bother apologizing or offering any alternative. She should not be in this industry at all.

Good food. Great service the first few times. However the last time the waitress just ignored us. We had 10% add to the bill so she did absolutely nothing. I've been going here for years, and it has not changed much. Primi up your game or you will loose customers.

The food is decent and reasonably priced. However, the delivery experience was frustrating. Mr D was completely offline, and Uber Eats only offered a limited menu. I ended up paying more for an item I didn’t actually want, just so I could use the comment box to request the item I did want — which wasn’t listed. After making four separate calls to PRIMI to confirm the request, I was assured it would be handled. Despite this, the order was canceled. The manager informed me that they could only prepare items from the order itself — no exceptions. It was disappointing to see such a lack of flexibility or willingness to go the extra mile. Unfortunately, I won’t be ordering from PRIMI again and will be taking my business elsewhere.

I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara on Uber eats yesterday and it’s now the second time in a row that the bacon is neither crispy (that’s what gives the flavor) and it came in a watery tasteless substance. I won’t be ordering again….. spending 150R for something that has nothing to do with Carbonara.

The staff is attentive, accommodating, and efficient, ensuring guests' satisfaction throughout their dining experience. With its speedy service during the high season, this restaurant stands out from others. Patrons leave contented with their meals, appreciating the delectable dishes served.
Amazing sushi restaurant with a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to anyone who either wants hearty asian noodles or premium sushi in Cape Town.

We came here on a rainy and cold day, so the spectacular view wasn’t visible. But the vibe inside the restaurant was amazing. They had the fireplace on, low lighting, staff was pleasant and took our orders immediately. We didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive at our table. We ordered the 12 piece platter (about R170) and udon noodles. Can’t remember the exact dishes name. The food was great. I hope you know how to use chopsticks because they don’t keep spare forks or spoons. Strictly chopsticks! So be prepared for that or practice some more🤭 The toilet is outside / separate from the restaurant. So on a stormy day be prepared to walk in the rain. Also, there is only one toilet for both men and women, so you might have to wait in a line. If you visit during better weather, you’ll see the great view, gardens and animals.

We had lunch here again today and the food was absolutely outstanding. Brilliant service from the staff too, they are very well trained. My only problem was the choice of cool drinks. There was nothing sugar free (for a diabetic) other than water and you don't go out to drink water.

I went for an early dinner which seems to be a quieter time. They were lighting the fire which was a needed touch to create warmth on a chilli autumn evening. My server was Sandra, who was very friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu items. I had the prawn wonton starter which was simply delicious and the Rock Shrimp which had tempura prawn on top of a tuna california, with teriyaki sauce. It was great but would have liked a crisper tempura batter.

Nestled in the charming Old Village Square, Pizza Fair is a delightful gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, it’s the perfect spot for a meal out. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering options, including their standout mexicano pizza—warm, gooey, and bursting with flavor. But that's not all; the ribs here are legendary! Tender and flavorful, they practically fall off the bone and have been hailed as some of the best around.
Yet to taste something average in South Africa and my visit to Pizza Fair wasn't any different - my mexicano was tasty, warm, gooey and spicy. Cannot ask for better flavours or balance. Kudos to the staff for being friendly too 🫡

I asked how is it possible for this order to be missed after following up constantly. Received attitude from the manager/owner & was told I can gladly take a refund. The Club House at Claremont Cricket Club offers a family-friendly atmosphere with a variety of activities for kids, including a jungle gym and bouncy castle. The expansive lawns provide ample space for children to play and run around. The menu goes beyond typical pub fare, offering flavorful dishes for both adults and kids. Despite previous negative experiences, the food has greatly improved, with standout items like beef burgers, lamb gyros, and chocolate cheesecake. The service also matches the high standards of the food.
Beautiful views, great food, friendly staff and a lovely vibe. On weekends it’s more families, evenings after work is more pub vibes. Either way, I always enjoy coming to the Cricket Club! P.S they’ve recently tarred the parking lot so it’s a lot more flat and stable to walk on, yay!

We were most excited to spend a family outting at what is supposedly family orientated restaurant. When my 3 year old had a tantrum over something as every 3 year old on this planet does, the owner of the restaurant decided it was within his right to walk up to her and scold her, “ we will not have any of that behaviour here” Nobody likes the sound of a tantrumming child , but the better way he could have handled that was check in with us, her parents, to see if everything was okay or maybe even offer some consolation or distraction to help calm our child like most restaurant staff would do. Instead he was aggressive towards a small child and unforgiving towards her parents. All was eventually resolved and he did reluctantly apologize, but the whole experience left a very sour taste in our mouths and a lasting fearful impression on my child. We hope this review awakens serious action to shift customer care and quality of service at this restaurant.

Hartlief Deli - Constantia is a fantastic eatery that offers high-quality meals at affordable prices. With a vast menu and a wide selection for breakfast, lunch, and tea time treats, it caters to various tastes. Whether you prefer indoor or outdoor seating, this deli has got you covered with its wheelchair accessibility and available parking. While peak times may hinder service efficiency, overall it is an ideal spot for continental food enthusiasts.
It's such a great place to eat at. Food is a bit pricey but well worth it. The deli part of the deli is a lot smaller than the branch in Gardens. However, the restaurant section is a lot bigger at this Constania branch. I highly recommend you try the coffee crema. They sell the same thing in Italy. However, in Italy, they give you a tiny little cup.

We have been coming here for a while now. I always have my Erdinger with steak tartar Brotchen. Today was a busy day and our waiter Edgar was on point most of the time, it was very busy like I said so we got left alone a bit at the end. Friendliness and welcoming attitude made up for it for sure. The pulled pork brotchen special isn't tasty. I have to be honest. The rest of the food we have had here has been absolutely fantastic. I recommend the leberkasse (sorry for my spelling), as it is one of my favourite dishes. Chicken snitchel is to die for. For qaulity meat products (sold at deli) please give this place a visit. It will be worth it!

For anyone checking reviews, bottom line we won’t be back. Consistency seems to be an issue for this restaurant and the sheer arrogance of the owner/ chef is quite something. All of our steaks were over-cooked - we sent the one that was the most over-cooked back and were told via the waitress and then the owner’s wife that there was nothing wrong with the steak and the ‘chef’ advised us to order something else. Too many good restaurants in Cape Town to bother with one that is bereft of basic customer service and consistent standards.

My wife and I had supper there last night. It was her first time but she was disappointed. Waiver our waiter started off well with good service then it died. He was run off his feet and it was too busy. My wife had the wrong plant burger delivered and asked for spicy mayo which didn't arrive. Her roll was also extremely dry. We had to get up and ask other tables for salt, pepper and tomato sauce. My thai green chicken curry was good though. Your small bottle of sparkling water with your branding tastes terrible and barely has any fizz. She doesn't want to return.

I am absolutely appalled by the shocking service we received at The Bay restaurant. We visited with a voucher that I had won in a raffle at the rugby. To avoid any issues, we even called ahead to confirm that the voucher was still valid. When we arrived, we showed the waiter the voucher, and he assured us it was fine. However, after we had enjoyed our meal and drinks, the manager, Christel, suddenly approached us aggressively and informed us that they do not accept pictures of vouchers on a phone. This was completely unacceptable, especially since we had verified the voucher beforehand and had no indication that there would be an issue. We even handed Christel the phone to speak directly to the person we won the voucher from—someone he knew—but he outright refused to honor it. His attitude was rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. He showed no willingness to compromise or handle the situation with even a shred of customer service. As a result, we were forced to pay for the entire meal, which was an expense we had not planned for. If we had known that they would refuse to accept the voucher, we wouldn’t have come out for dinner in the first place. The way we were treated by Christel was appalling—his hostility and lack of professionalism ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening. This experience has left me incredibly disappointed in The Bay. The way customers are treated here is unacceptable, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before dining at this establishment.

The vegetarian pizza is amazing and if you need a beer and have kids, then this place has you sorted... But the service is terrible. Like you think you know bad, but you don't... This is the best worst service you'll ever see... Or rather not see. It is so slow that I'm still waiting and also just unprofessional and meh attribute of staff. I think the beer they had on tap was going off too... Everyone who had it was nauseous later

Please, please. Never order an Eisbein there. I am an Eisbein regular. I may as well have ordered Biltong. Dry, tasteless and definitely well over cooked. Worst I have ever encountered. Our waitress Sandra was superb in the manner she handled my complaint. Had it remade and it came back the same dry piece of Pork Biltong As an ex chef I would be ashamed to put this on my Menu.

First visit to this pace on a Friday with live music and a packed restaurant and bar area! Was a mistake not to book a table but we didn't think it would have been THAT busy, we were seated after about an hour right by the toilets, not so nice but beggars can't be choosers. The food arrived in a timely fashion after ordering BUT I wasn't amazed by it. The jalepeno poppers were nice and hot but the batter was very thick and not so great. The platter was huge and well priced, the pizza was a good size for a hungry person with extremely thin base, I have had better, the chicken wasn't great, quite chewy but was also quite affordable. This place obviously does something right as I have heard it is always quite busy in the evenings (weekends) and I would go back but I think more of a day time place to chill outside on one of the benches during summer!

Wildsprout is one of the best vegan restaurants in Cape Town. The coffee is well balanced in taste and acidity, like Rosetta’s and the food is made with a lot of thought. I had the French toast and I must say it was the first French toast I had that wasn’t too sweet, the preserve was likely made in house and the bread was light and fluffy. Perfect! The people are friendly and helpful as well - we came 5 minutes to their kitchen closing yet they still took our order, excellent customer service.

Very good coffees and espresso. One of the best croissants in the area and a very big variety of gluten free breakfasts and cakes. Perhaps some of them aren't 100 % gluten free, just reduced, because they use e.g. gluten free oats, which aren't free from gluten, just under 20 mg/kg. But the endless variety is a must for everyone, who is either in need or just want to eat gluten free. And our staff was attentive and friendly. So it's an absolute suggestion to all healthy orientated or celiac people.

A prepackaged little plastic/sandwich bag containing chicken is thrown into the microwave (in its plastic bag), heated and then added to the wrap 🤮 How is this standard of food preparation acceptable? This is such a health risk. Nevermind the microwave, but heating food in a soft plastic bag. Watching while I waited I saw many other wraps and rice bowls being prepared, the rice also being put into a plastic container to reheat in the micro. The plastic container already being quite deformed from the heat of the microwave. After receiving my wrap I asked the staff member preparing the food if this is their standard for preparing food and she replied saying 'yes ma' am'. Quite frightening and an absolute reason to never visit again!

We love Kauai's food but it's super disappointing that so many of the stores only allow cash tips. Nobody carries cash anymore! It's standard procedure at any eating establishment to add a tip on the credit card. Your staff are working so hard but they're missing out on much needed and deserved tips because of this backward system!

Their smoothies are very tasteless compared to other branches in Cape Town. Their attitude is also not great. They seem very disinterested

Terrible service from staff. Completely ignored me for 2 minutes while trying to place order and then told me they were closed. . . . . 20min before closing. Shocking reflection on Kauai.

Staff are not very friendly. They completely forgot to make my order, no apology or anything.

Worst experience ever, not a good example as a Kauai

When I ask for no tomato, and repeat myself three times, I definitely don’t expect to have tomato in my wrap. Chicken was also a bit suspect. Such an disappointment
