Robberg Nature Reserve, situated in Plettenberg Bay, is a coastal and marine preserve offering a variety of attractions for nature enthusiasts. The reserve boasts panoramic views of the bay and Tsitsikamma Mountains, dramatic cliffs, caves, sandy beaches, and a lively colony of Cape fur seals. Visitors can also spot wildlife such as dolphins, whales, and the rare blue duiker antelope. Additionally, the reserve features Stone Age relics and offers opportunities for activities like hiking and trail running.
Absolutely incredible! One of the best hikes I’ve done in South Africa. The scenery is out of this world, dramatic cliffs, ocean views, seals on the rocks, and long stretches of untouched beach. You can choose shorter or longer trail loops depending on your time and energy. Totally worth it though! Pack water, sunscreen, and good shoes.
Kim K — Google review
Such beauty Incredible scenery to take in, and good birdlife. The hike is incredible, although slightly challenging in places, so make sure you're wearing decent shoes. The beach is awesome and the island is well worth a visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, even if it was just for an afternoon
Jason B — Google review
Great place to hike. Definitely plan to do the big hike (min. 4 hrs.). Hike is not really complicated but you have to climb over rocks so I would rate it as mid to hard. You can see (and smell) the seals and also the great scenery. One of the best hikes we did in South Africa. We also saw a lot of dolphins and a whale (unfortunately far away but you can see them). The shark watcher also said he saw a big white shark a week before our visit.
Leon B — Google review
Another beautiful place which is a must visit. Got to see live and dead seals, comorants and a dead whale on the beach. Its a bit of hike and we need good shoes with proper grip to walk on slippery rocks.
Thomas J — Google review
One of the most beautiful short length beach trails I have seen. I grew up in South Africa bit somehow never made it here till I returned with my wife on our honeymoon and I do reregt not gisitomg this part of the country sooner. If you are in Plett, I would suggest doing this, even of only the shortest trail.
Patrick S — Google review
Awesome day at Robberg Nature Preserve—one of the most exhilarating hikes I’ve done in ages (August 1, 2025). Some of the trail is little more than a whisper along the cliffside: narrow, exposed, and thrillingly wild. At points there’s barely room for your feet as the path hugs the edge, with sheer drops straight to the ocean below. You scramble over rock faces, grip ropes and iron staples hammered into stone, and stay laser-focused with every step. Definitely not for the faint of heart—especially when the wind kicks up—but the rush, the views, and the raw beauty make it absolutely unforgettable. No photos of the craziest parts… I needed both hands to stay alive, and then my phone died. Worth every second. ❤️ If you’re in Plettenberg, I definitely recommend doing this— even if you only tackle the shortest route. It’s so much fun and absolutely stunning from start to finish. Plan for a whole day because there’s a lot to see and explore. Bring water, and know that the trailhead is well set up with a bathroom, a drink and ice cream stand, information displays, and plenty of tables and benches where you can soak in the views before or after your hike.
Kristie A — Google review
GORGEOUS views. We did the mid-sized trail and it was intense already - some difficult pieces along the way, but nothing impossible. Keep following the signs and you should have no problem. If you can, go with impermeable shoes all closed because of the sand. The seals are easy to hear and spot, but binoculars make it easier. It’s amazing, you will love it.
Fábio A — Google review
Amazing views!!! We did the full hike to the point saw so much beauty. I recommend you bring plenty of water and something to eat if you're going to do the long hike.

Old Nick Village in Plettenberg Bay is a charming shopping destination with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The main building complex, which was once a general dealer, dates back to 1880. Visitors can explore beautiful gardens, galleries, and artisan shops while experiencing the laid-back vibes of the town. The village offers a variety of locally made crafts and souvenirs for travelers looking to take home unique mementos from their Garden Route trip.
Known as the Wednesday market. A lovely, safe market to visit, have a walk around, shop, have a quick bite and enjoy the outdoors. Chat to people from Plett and surrounding areas, converse with the stall holders, learn about the culture of the area and soak up the sunshine. There are a few seating areas / benches. Toilet facilities are available on site. Parking and entrance is free. Support local✨the market is only open on Wednesdays
Meheshree P — Google review
One of the nicest and most authentic markets I've been to. You can easily spend a few hours here on a market day. Outside of that it's still a great place to have a coffee of visit the Boplaas and other little shops.
Gerhard G — Google review
Stunning place along the garden route with lush gardens, the MUNGO mill and shop, a restaurant and food hub, and an amazing playground for children of all ages. Definitely worth a visit.
Joan A — Google review
Cute shops and a lot to do. The Old Mill factory (Mungo) welcomes visitors to have a look around and experience the inside of the Mill. There's a food hub, little shops around and a nursery for the green thumbs. Additionally, there's a Chocolatier shop that has a chocolate fountain. My husband and I had a chocolate shot (a chocolate shot cup with chocolate from the fountain). The lady said that the record for the most chocolate shots is 8 shots!! Tempted, but just 1 was enough for us. Lastly, there's a scratch patch! On Wednesdays, they have a market as well. Give it a go.
Leilah — Google review
Since my last visit a year ago, there really seems to have been a renewed investment in upgrading, tidying up, and modernizing this venue. The new painted buildings, newly sown lawns and new paved areas, nice kiddies play area, new Potter behind and above nursery and gardens in good health all lead to a less run down hippy hang out experience that other than the restaurant had us and our friends avoiding it in the past. The selection of stores and offerings are now really first class.
Richard M — Google review
Awesome place! My dog and I spent a few hours wondering around the gardens which have some beautiful and unique flowers. We enjoyed some amazing stores which are more for tourists and perhaps the more effluent locals, but unique crafts and gift options. The restaurant serves fresh squeezed juice and freshly baked breads. There is even tahini and Halva spread available. Excellent place to enjoy some time with family, kids, pets or as a solo experience.
Donovan G — Google review
Nice little stop over for cofee and lunch should you choose. Did not eat but the menu seemed nice. Lots of other little shops to visit. There is dogs allowed if you have a dog that you want to bring. The toilets is clean but small. Nice stop
Werner G — Google review
What a gem! Several independent designer shops and stalls all on one location. So much to see. Soap, art, pottery, weavery, designer goods as well as a restaurant that also offers genuine vegan options. Worth while to stop over and just walk through the shops. Also has a large outdoor play area for kiddies and lots of parking.

Whale Tail Lookout Point in Plettenberg Bay offers breathtaking ocean views and the opportunity to spot dolphins and whales during the season. Visitors can relax on benches, watch the waves, observe surfers, or have a picnic. The lookout point is recommended for free activities in the area and is perfect for catching sunrise or sunset views. It provides a stunning vantage point of the bay and is equipped with ample parking and seating.
A great viewpoint and photography spot when you're in Plettenburg bay. A interesting thing, there was a lady sitting by the tail with binoculars and making notes. I asked her what she was observing or studying. The answer... She is a shark spotter! And if there's any in the vicinity, she radios in to clear the swimmers.
Gerhard G — Google review
The best place to enjoy the sunrise or for a spectacular view of Keurbooms Lagoon and Lookout. See how the logoon changes everytime we visit this spot
Janice W — Google review
Parking for about 10 cars max. Nice clean with a security guard.
Michael F — Google review
Serene lookout. Had a nice chat with the shark watcher.
Werner S — Google review
Walked and drove here from main beech - chap on security for peace of mind and the dolphin and whales can be seen if lucky but far so bring binoculars
Ade H — Google review
Lovely spot to sit and relax, watch the ocean, smell the fresh air and unwind. Even on an overcast day, the view is exceptional.
Jane S — Google review
Gorgeous view point. You can see whales, dolphins, and sharks here. It is very nice place to relax and enjoy this fantastic view. It has a lot of car parking and has plenty of chairs to set. Do not forget to bring you camera with long zoom. It is a free view point and open 24 hours, in addition, it is very close Plattenburg city center. Visiting this veiw point is highly recommended if you are visiting the Garden Route area.
Adel R — Google review
Our first stop when arriving in Plettenberg bay. Gives you a stunning vantage point of the bay. The kids loved climbing on the whale tale seat. A great place to spend about 30 minutes or so enjoying the view.

Beach
Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay is a popular and stunning spot that stretches between the Keurbooms River and the Indian Ocean. The expansive white sand beach offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. It is one of several beautiful beaches in the area, with Robberg Beach being ideal for surfing lessons due to its point break. Lookout Beach has been recognized as one of the best beaches globally, known for its exceptional beauty.
Nice beach. Definitely recommend for a stay for a day. Really big, clean and a lot of space to chill out. We saw some dolphins riding the waves!
Matze — Google review
Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay unfolds like a natural tapestry where river meets ocean, sculpting an ever-shifting landscape of sandbanks and tidal pools. With the Keurbooms Lagoon on one side and the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean on the other, this beach isn’t just a scenic escape—it’s an evolving ecosystem. The golden dunes stretch out like an open invitation for barefoot wanderers, while surfers carve through the emerald waves beyond. From the elevated viewpoints, you can catch sight of marine life—dolphins weaving through the surf, whales breaching in the distance—offering a reminder of the raw, untamed beauty of South Africa’s coastline.
Think U — Google review
Yet another beautiful beach along the garden Route... don't forget to carry sunscreen ... there are good restaurants next to the beach and adequate parking.
Arjun J — Google review
Nice beach for swimming with lifeguards on duty, long walks on the beach, 👌🏼 👏
Hennie S — Google review
Good stretch of beach. Nice to go to during the autumn and winter months when you wish to go out on a sunny day, but don't want to be too close to the ocean with your water-loving toddler. They have lifeguards on the beach if you wish to take a swim and there's a restaurant you can visit also.
Chantál F — Google review
Spectacular beach with endless views over the bay. Fine sand. Great waves! Find your very own pansy shells (tip: As they break easily, you will find them during low tide)! You can overlook the entire bay of beauty and lookout beach from La Vista Lodge like nowhere else.
Axel W — Google review
Pristine beauty with lagoon, estuary (Keurbooms River) and distant mountain views (Tsitsikama). A "must walk" and look out for rare pansy shells unique to the area.
Dion J — Google review
Lookout beach is a great alternative to Central or one of the Robberg beaches. The Beach is easily accessible from lookout parking or parking area near milkwood manor and its typically a little quieter in busy times. Walks from parking on the beach are quite long though. Lovely walk up to mouth.

Peninsula
Robberg Peninsula is a rugged and narrow stretch of land that houses a nature reserve featuring a popular hiking trail. The peninsula also boasts a massive seal colony, offering visitors the chance to observe these playful animals up close through boat rides, snorkeling, or scuba diving. Additionally, the area features 15 kilometers of golden beaches from Keurboomstrand to Robberg Peninsula, interrupted only by a river mouth and Beacon Island.
Second time hiking this magical place... improvements have been made on the steeper bits with rails and ropes to assist the wobbly..
Laura B — Google review
All in one, best small nature reserve in SA. You get a bit of everything and if you lucky you might see great white sharks from above.
Chantel N — Google review
The 'trail' is ok if you only do the first bit, No1. DO NOT take any of the other two, unless you are very fit, a moderate experienced mountaineer, don't suffer from vertigo or as barking mad as the ones who designed and opened that trail. Although I am neither, except maybe a bit mad, I survived, whereby 'survived' is the operational word. Narrow paths, if at all, climbing over and between rocks. with the rock face on one, and a hundred metres down to the ocean on the other. absolutely ridiculous to even suggest it as a 'trail', which suggests no particular skills other than two good legs. Well, if you're game go and tell me I'm wrong.
George D — Google review
Absolutely loved Robberg Peninsula, it only cost 60 Rand which compared to Storms Bay at 400 Rand is a bargain and SO much better. You see geology in action and see the puddle stone. The walk can be difficult at times but so worth it, the sand dune and views are glorious – definitely worth the detour!
Aran G — Google review
One of the best hiking spots I've been to, the scenery is picturess and the hiking trails are easy, kids will enjoy this one 👌
Waseela J — Google review
Beautiful conservation area. The area is clean and have a selection of hiking routes. The longest one is 'The Point' a round trip hike that takes about 4 hours to complete. Fantastic views accross the bay can be seen on all routes and Cape fur seals can be seen far below in the water. Well worth a visit.

The Lookout Deck is a vibrant restaurant nestled between the majestic Lookout Rocks and Lookout Beach, offering a seaside location that's hard to beat. The diverse menu features mouthwatering options like woodfired pizzas, burgers, seafood dishes, and perfectly cooked steaks from the grill. With an impressive selection of wines and exotic cocktails, it's a great spot for food and drinks.
Great views and atmosphere. The Hake and Calamari combo was fresh and tasty, and the Bar One cheesecake was simply divine! We had great service from Riaan, who made our dining experience a great one, especially with the dessert recommendation!
Stealth A — Google review
Lovely views and fun decorated atmosphere. Butternut&feta side is a great choice, fish was perfectly cooked but didn't like the taste of the calamari, predominant crispy crumbs (perhaps the oil was due for fresh batch?) No baby changing area. Good selection on kids menu.
Lise-Mari G — Google review
The Lookout Deck boasts one of the most breathtaking seaside views in Plettenberg Bay, perched right on the beachfront, it offers an unbeatable backdrop of ocean and horizon while you dine. The option to sit inside or outside is a plus, and the gentle sea breeze adds something special to the experience. The menu is varied, with almost daily specials and occasional live performances. While we appreciate live music, the upbeat style on the night felt a little mismatched to the setting—we would’ve loved something more relaxed to complement the sound of the waves and tranquil atmosphere. We ordered the grilled hake, which arrived fairly quickly and well portioned, but unfortunately, both portions were overcooked. The side dishes, however, crispy chips and fresh salad, were excellent. Although the waitress was friendly, service was somewhat slow and a few requests were left unattended. Despite this, when we raised the issue, a manager responded promptly, apologized sincerely, and arranged for our meals to be redone. The replacements were superb—tender, perfectly cooked, and truly delicious. The coffee that followed was excellent, and we appreciated the senior staff checking in personally to ensure all was well. All in all, a pleasant and memorable date night with my wife. We’d gladly return and look forward to another meal here.

The Lookout Deck The Lookout Deck is located on the edge of Plettenbergbay between sand and sea, with the backdrop of Plettenbergbay and the beautiful seaview on the horizon. We went for lunch and order the Wednesday Special (Pint of Prawns). The portion exceeded our expectations, it was big with 10 prawns hanging over the cup. Delicious, flavorful and filling. Ordered an extra side chips, but it was too much for two people to eat. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Zola's smile and positive attitude was something that is burned in our hearts. Thank you!
Nicolene P — Google review
For 20 years in this place still keeps giving. Right on the beach, it doesn't get any better. No fuss no frills place that does offer quality. Their salad with capers and calamari tubes is spectacular in taste. The R99 Monday burger special is a steal. No fancy burger but good enough with plenty of great chips.
Marcus Z — Google review
Amazing view of lookout beach. Lovely restaurant nicely decorated. Live music on a Sunday. Great menus. Fresh seafood calamari chicken dishes. Steak and casserole dishes.
Carol P — Google review
Awesome location but not impressed with the food. The bread tasted stale and the pizza over cooked. My son asked for parma cheese for his pizza and they said it would cost an extra R52🤪
Kerry B — Google review
Busy restaurant with a nice view on the beach. It does not matter if you make a reservation or not since people before us told them they didn’t make a reservation and could just choose a table. We made choice for dinner, but after our starter they told us the fish for our main course was finished so we had to choose another one. I chose rice as a side dish but got fries instead. The food was okay, not great. Our server was good & friendly, so job well done!

Sanctuary Beach in Plettenberg Bay is a serene and tranquil sandy haven, surrounded by shrub-covered dunes. This idyllic beach offers a peaceful escape from the bustling tourist areas, making it perfect for long relaxing days. It is also an excellent spot for solitary walks to clear the mind and rejuvenate. The name truly reflects its essence, providing a safe and serene environment to unwind and find inner peace.
Sanctuary Beach in Plettenberg Bay is truly one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I’ve ever visited. From the moment I stepped onto the soft, golden sand, I felt instantly relaxed. The beach is wide and open, giving you plenty of space to enjoy without feeling crowded. I loved the natural surroundings – the dunes, the sea breeze, and the sound of the waves all come together to create a calming atmosphere. What stood out to me the most was how clean and well-kept the beach was. It felt safe, serene, and perfect for long, quiet walks. I especially appreciated that it’s dog-friendly, so if you’re traveling with a pet, it’s ideal. The water was clear and inviting, and although I didn’t swim much, just walking along the shore with the waves at my feet was amazing. There’s something special about the slower pace at Sanctuary Beach. It’s not overly commercial or packed with tourists, which makes it feel more personal and peaceful. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit, breathe, and take in the beauty around you. I left feeling refreshed and already wanting to return. Sanctuary Beach is a hidden gem, and I absolutely loved my time there.

Best dog friendly beach in the area. 🐶 Stunning evenings can be spent while savouring the best beach experience. Relatively clean ablutions and fresh water showers to rinse off after a swim.
Daryn L — Google review
Nice beach. I'd just have to say, make sure to get you bearings where you come down from the car parking. Once you're on the beach it's difficult to tell one set of steps from another and where they lead to.
Gerhard G — Google review
A beach off season has an exceptional appeal ! A warm sunny mid winter July day and we walked for miles - we loved the dog stick sign and that the locals were warm and kind - it surprised us to see just how many beach walkers there were at this time - perhaps Plett is more of an all year round destination after all ! Do go any season of the year - you won’t regret it 🇿🇦

Embark on a thrilling 2-hour boat adventure with Ocean Safaris in Plettenberg Bay, offering an adrenaline-pumping beach launch into the sea. This experience provides excellent opportunities for whale and dolphin watching along the stunning coastline, especially during whale season. The staff is welcoming and friendly, providing a safety briefing before setting off on the boat. Knowledgeable guides ensure an unforgettable experience as you observe mating whales and their calves from a respectful distance.
Amazing skipper and guide. You guys rock. We had such fun, and you guys make the trip so amazing and fun. I absolutely love love love you guys. Thanks for an amazing trip on the ocean 💙

Wow, what an amazing place, a crazy experience, Jean-Claude was an amazing guide who explained things to the children and brought excitement and joy to them. The boat ride was crazy, as was the swimming with seals, perfect.
Chedva M — Google review
AMAZING EXPERIENCE. We booked online super simple. Staff so welcoming and friendly. We had our safety briefing and off we went - short walk to the boat. The drive out to see was fun! We found whales instantly. We spent a good amount of time observing a mating trio of two males and a female. I got some amazing photos. We also saw several mother and calves (have to stay 100m from them by law) but we could still see them. The guides were so knowledgeable! Thrilling acceleration back to land and onto shore! Worth every penny! I will be doing again!
Shareen A — Google review
We had a brilliant time. PK is a brilliant guide who is extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to ensure we saw a whale on a tricky day weatherwise. Would highly recommend (I know that the rival company on the same day saw no whales).
Emily H — Google review
Unfortunately unprofessional! We booked a whale watching online. At 08:04 they informed us, that the have to less guest for our trip at 13:00 and asked if we could join the 11:00. I told that it will be difficult because of the distance, but I shifted a lot of things. Due to their delay it should only start at 11:30, so I confirmed at 10:22. I pushed the whole family to be in time. On the road I got the message at 10:51 that it's cancelled because of weather, but the skipper will try it a little later and at 10:57 they cancelled completly. So a 100 km trip is done for nothing and even for the refund you have to wait. It's gone in seconds and will need several days to come back. Due to the fact that the weather doesn't look so bad, we doing now our trip now again with our whale watchers in Knysna. Only to make sure, I'm not complaining, because they cancelled. I'm complaining about the way. The want to fill the boats and don't care if you lose time and money because of your efforts that you've to make.
D. B — Google review
This review would have had a higher rating if it wasn't for the attitude of the woman signing us in. We were booked on the 12pm trip but received a message at 8.30am the day of the trip asking if we could arrive at 9.30am which we couldn't. I phoned the number and was asked to be at the meeting point for 11am. On arrival the woman signing us in said with an attitude that we were very early. I replied we had been asked to turn up at 11am to which her reply was ... " you should have been here for 9.30 " I told her we weren't given enough notice and quite honestly her attitude made me really annoyed and I nearly told her to cancel the whole thing but I decided to walk away and hope the trip improved. I have no idea why we were asked to arrive at 11am considering the boat was still out on the earlier trip. We actually set off at 12 as originally scheduled so the message we got about going early because of the high tide was obviously a load of rubbish. Anyway - we were introduced to PK our guide and given life jackets and taken to the boat. PK and the skipper were really knowledgeable and explained about the different types of whales and the issues with the Orcas. After a short time out at sea we spotted our first HumpBack. We kept a good distance but had a fantastic view. We saw 4 humpback ( 2 mothers and 2 babies ) we stayed with them for about 30mins watching them blow and rising out of the water then diving down. After leaving the whales we made our way to see the Cape fur seals along the coast. There were hundred of them. It was great to see. Overall we had a really great experience. I'd just say the signing in woman needs to check her attitude!

Not a bad experience but it seemed a bit deurmekaar when we got there. We were told to be there a half hour before we depart so that we can attend a safety briefing yet there wasnt a safety briefing given and we were the only ones there so we ended up waiting a half hour. Unfortunetly the weather was also icky that day so we didnt see too much wildlife but the skipper was really well trained and it was fun to see the cologny of 12000 seals. Next time we hope to see some whales whilst going out

The Fat Fish is a popular seafood restaurant in Plett that offers a variety of sustainable seafood dishes, including fish and chips, calamari, chargrilled prawns, platters, and sushi. The restaurant has a casual yet stylish ambiance with both indoor and terrace seating overlooking the saltwater channel to Beacon Isle and the ocean. In addition to seafood, they also offer tapas dishes as well as meat and vegetable options.
Beautiful setting, great vibe, and a lovely evening! This restaurant has a stunning interior with a cozy yet modern design — the lighting and ceiling patterns really create a special atmosphere. It was quite busy when we visited, but still felt comfortable and relaxed. We tried this dishes: Tom yum soap 9/10 Caesar Salad 7/10 Prawns 10/10 Parmesan chilli kingklip 7/10 Grilled hake and calamari 9/10 Creamy mussels 9.5/10 Better to do a reservation.

Good seafood restaurant, well prepared and tastefull. We ordered 3 different dishes, lemon and garlic steamed fish, fish & chips and the full fish from the oven: a red Snapper. Well spiced and fresh. They managed to get us a table even though it was fully booked. Great service. Desserts were excellent as well.

We had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The sushi was exceptionally fresh and flavorful – some of the best we’ve ever had. We also tried the calamari and springbok steak, and both were absolutely delicious. Every dish we ordered was prepared to perfection. What really stood out, aside from the taste, was the presentation – each plate was beautifully arranged and clearly made with care and attention to detail. The decor of the restaurant itself is also lovely, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. We highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates top-quality food and a great dining ambiance. We’ll definitely be back!

An Unexpected Gem – Best Dining Experience in Plett! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ At first glance, The Fat Fish is easy to overlook – tucked away with a rather modest logo that doesn’t hint at what awaits inside. But once you step in, it’s nothing short of exceptional. The restaurant is built into the natural stone, and those original rocks are still visible inside, giving the space a unique and cozy charm. We were seated near the fireplace, which added a warm and welcoming atmosphere on a cooler evening. The food? Absolutely outstanding from start to finish. We began with sushi and salmon sashimi – both incredibly fresh, with the sashimi truly out of this world. For mains, the Parmesan Kingklip was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, while the tagliatelle with mussels was rich and satisfying. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better – came the dessert: the cheesecake brûlée, a signature dish by Duval, was the perfect crown to an already unforgettable meal. Special mention to our waiter Pieter – fast, friendly, understated, and extremely competent. He made the evening even more enjoyable with his professional and attentive service. We were so impressed, we booked again for the following evening – without a doubt the best dining experience we’ve had in Plettenberg Bay. A true hidden treasure! Update after 2 days: Excellent place, we e joyed the food, the hospitality of the service Pieter and his very well caring manager. For our dessert malva pudding we give him the idea of getting warm vanilla sauce ( custard) and the manager just decides to offer us the dessert on the house. I told him that we did not complain but he insisted. That’s how the customer relationship should work. Bravo Btw, for second time we got the same sushi platter plus salmon sashimi. Sashimi out of this world. Oysters were not cheap but very delicious and premium quality. The whole fish and the Thai like fish were top.
Hachim — Google review
Amazing food! We had the Kingklip which was cocked with a nicely done ginger sauce, the Springbok was also delicious. You have it end it with the Malva, the best i tried in SA. Thanks Pricslla for the great service.

We had a very pleasant lunch at The Fat Fish. The menu offers a nice selection of tasty dishes, and everything we tried was well prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The location near the beach is great, making it an easy and enjoyable stop during the day. We really enjoyed our flavorful lunch and the wine that paired perfectly with it. A lovely place to visit if you’re in the area and looking for good food close to the coast.

Fat Fish is a modern, fine dining seafood restaurant on the water at Plett Bay. The ambience is sleek, dimly lit and chair cushions are provided for extra comfort. Despite being primarily a seafood restaurant, there was still a lot from me to choose from on the menu with vegetarian options. The menus are printed like old school broadsheet newspapers - very clever. I had arancini balls for starter, gnocchi for main and malva pudding for dessert. All this came to R325 which I though was very reasonable for the quality and style of restaurant. I had a glass of rose for R70 and in South Africa they are big pours at 235ml. The food was delicious. Special mention to our waitress Nicky who was super friendly and attentive and timed all the courses to perfection. Restrooms are located outside the restaurant proper which was a bit strange. They must be shared with other restaurants.

Nice wine by the glass selection and food. Service is a bit slow and it gets cold quickly outside in November. The fish was fresh I had the parmesan chili kingklip and the pork dumplings

Nguni Restaurant, situated in the heart of Plettenberg Bay, is housed in a historic building that was once a dairy dating back over a century. The restaurant's black-and-white decor, slate floors, and thick white walls create an inviting atmosphere. With a strong emphasis on fresh and local produce, Nguni offers a menu that creatively reinvents traditional South African dishes.
We sat outside in a beautiful setting. Service was very friendly and helpful. Food was just excellent, highly recommend the daily steak specials. They also have a great selection of wines. Quite a gem this place and hosted by lovely people!
Alexander S — Google review
The venue is lovely, cozy atmosphere and some African art on the walls. The service was excellent our waiter was attentive and so was the host for the evening. We ordered: beetroot and goats cheese salad and tuna carpaccio for starters, both dishes were fresh and well prepared. We ordered: beef fillet steak for main with a side of veggies. The steak was cooked as requested, but extremely dry, we were disappointed and recommend ordering a sauce with this dish. Generally we don't have sauces with our steaks but this requires it. The side veggies were lovely and we enjoyed the zest of lemon for flavor. Our final course was dessert: a bit of a hit and miss with this. The baked cheesecake with passion fruit was amazing, fresh and decent portion size. The apple pie however was a complete miss, large chunky apple slices undercooked with a crumb and cream, this was unappetizing and truly disappointing. They have a good selection of wines to choose from and MCC by the glass which we appreciated. Overall a 3/5 on the food but all else was good.
Meghan M — Google review
Our second time at Nguni over two separate trips to Plett. A nice homely intimate feel and great attentive service. The menu stayed pretty much the same as did the quality of the food. Not one of those huge menus with lots of things, but nicely done Some veggie options but this place really excels at meat. We had the ostrich from the menu and the venison which was a special. We also brought our own bottle of non alcoholic wine and paid a small corkage fee.
Tony W — Google review
We had a nice dinner in this place, but somehow we felt the whole experience mediocre. Our waitress was friendly, but a bit superficial. Fot example when my partner told her how well cooked the steak is desired, she made a remark if he was sure about that. The line fish was delicious, the smoked ostrich was a bit a strangely plated, but was also really good. Prices are okay, wines are also good.
Dávid K — Google review
We visited this restaurant twice and if we are in Plett ever again more times will follow. The food is good and the ingredients seem fresh. The wine menu is great. We had the luck of visiting the restaurant on a day when a small wine producer was having a wine tasting for all the restaurants guests. Service was fast and friendly. Only on a busier day them seemed to be stressed and unprepared.

We could only book the 6:30 slot although most of the tables inside were empty. The bobotie spring roll was delicious. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked. The prawns was not as good as the steak. The deconstructed meringue was very good. The service was very attentive and friendly. Nice place for dinner if you could get a table outside.

The Bungalow By Raw Africa Collection is a laid-back beachside accommodation in Plettenberg Bay, offering casual rooms and a dorm option. The property features an outdoor pool, free WiFi, and is conveniently located near popular attractions such as Old Timber Shed and Van Plettenberg Beacon. Guests can indulge in onsite massages or take advantage of amenities like concierge services and a cozy fireplace in the lobby.
We spent two nights here and would recommend it. The room was very nice with added touches like a Nespresso machine, complimentary mini bar and biscuits as well as a turn down service dessert. Breakfast was great and the staff very friendly and accommodating. It’s right by the beach with great views although we didn’t get to fully enjoy it as we were unlucky with the weather. Note however that although the hotel was great, we were very underwhelmed by Plettenberg itself.
Catherine A — Google review
My partner and I stayed for one evening, the room we thought we had booked was not to be. A little disappointed as we thought our room was to have a sea view. Room was neat, bathroom was ridulously small. Little details, ants were all over the bathroom, wall next to the basin had bloches of paint on it. The shower was badly finished off. Details. Not enough space for working surface to put your things. Might be fine for a single person but not for two. Breakfast the next day was great. Staff are friendly and polite. Would go back back woud make sure of the room we were being allocated. The beach in front is spectacular. Details do matter.

Great view, but the food and service is TERRIBLE. We visited on a Sunday for dinner at 5pm and we were the only people in the restaurant. Ordered a buratta salad for starters. Waiter forgot to order it in the kitchen. Ordered the "linefish" of day which was supposed to be kingklip. It was definitely not kingklip and not fresh. The handcut chips were also old and tasted like reheated chips. Will definitely not be back! This place has so much potential actually

No real sea view. The service and leasure offers were slight ( no wellness or fitness facilities, only a very small and dirty swimming pool) The breakfast ist limited. Rooms are tiny and furniture old and scratched. I wouldn’t refer this hotel as a 4 stars Hotel. For 300 euro/night…it felt like a scam

The Palms Plett is by far one of my most favorite places to spend time. The moment you step inside, the décor sweeps you away—it’s refined, stylish, and absolutely upper class, setting the perfect atmosphere for a memorable outing. The service is consistently exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, with a team that makes you feel valued from start to finish. The cocktails are a work of art, beautifully crafted with that little extra kick that makes them stand out. We decided to start light with a small starter so we could indulge in dessert—and it was absolutely worth the wait. Every bite delivered on flavor and presentation, the perfect sweet ending to the experience. The Palms Plett is the kind of place that leaves you smiling long after you’ve left. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to visit again, and it’s always at the top of my list when in Plettenberg Bay.

🌴 Stumbled upon a gem in Plettenberg Bay — The Palms! What a find! One of the best dining spots we’ve experienced. 🌊 View & Atmosphere: Absolutely impeccable — the restaurant overlooks the sea, with waves crashing below and a refreshing ocean breeze. 🍽️ Food: Out of this world. Every dish was a delight. 🤝 Service: Top-tier — warm, attentive, and professional. If you’re in Plett, don’t miss this place. It’s more than a meal — it’s a full-on coastal experience.

There was construction when we were there it was very loud. The starter caprese salad was nice and the pork belly. I didn’t like my mocktail the peach berry, it was sweet and not balanced. The smash burger bread was too big. The short ribs portion was very small maybe ~150 g of meat or less if you don’t count the bone. The view is nice .

Keurbooms Lagoon boasts a beautiful beach that varies in size depending on the tides and other factors such as rainfall and water flow from the mountains. The water color ranges from a deep senna shade caused by tannins to crystal clear, especially during summer when the river bottom is shallow and white. This creates an illusion of being on a pristine desert island.
Best camping site we have been to yet. Ablutions were squeaky clean. The staff were so so friendly and helpful. The views were incredible and we loved kayaking there. We kayaked up the lagoon with seals! Such an awesome experience.

Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable, guiding us through the wine selection with genuine enthusiasm and insight. He struck the perfect balance between being informative and approachable, making sure each tasting complemented our food choices beautifully. His timing and attentiveness throughout the meal were flawless—never rushed, always considerate and friendly. With a view over the vineyards and soft background music, just add to a special touch. She had a wonderful way of making the experience feel personalized and relaxed, yet refined. The combination of exceptional service, exquisite wines, and a beautifully prepared lunch made this visit truly memorable. We left feeling well cared for and thoroughly satisfied. Mungo Shop & Mill, located in Old Nick Village, offers visitors a fascinating look into the production process of their rugs and home accessories. During the week, guests can stroll along a suspended pathway and learn about the mill's history through informative boards. On weekends, guided tours provide an up-close view of the looms in action at 11:30 am. The weaving floor showcases a blend of traditional shuttle looms and modern rapier machines.
What a wonderful experience visiting Mungo Mill in Plettenberg. Such a beautiful place! If you’re looking for something different to do, do visit this mill. It’s part museum, part active factory. You get to read about and look at the previous equipment; feel the texture of certain wools; watch the handloom process and chat with the operators. You can do a self tour, use the provided noise canceling headphones that are available. There are clear write ups around the facility. It’s definitely interesting and not boring (my previous thoughts before visiting). >You’re allowed to take photos and videos. >free entry >tour is wheelchair accessible >Mungo store (next to the mill) where you can buy the locally made products. >Mungo mill is on the same property as Old Nick village. If you visit on a Wednesday you can experience both the market and the mill.

Beautiful factory space that you can view via an observation gallery, walk through and which ends in an informative and nicely filmed movie. So clever to show us how the weaving is done. Makes one realise the detailed work involved and what machinery is needed. Architecturally impressive building and workspace that is good enough to put on public display. We need more factories like this. The products are top quality. Prices are elevated but one can see why. Definitely worth a stop and a shop.

I came for the impressive looking building but was blown away by the entire operation. The noise was a surprise. It is hypnotic watching the machines go, weaving their intricate designs. Definitely a must-visit! You can do a self- guided tour at the Mungo Mill or you can book a free guided tour. We emailed them ahead of time to book our guided tour and it was so worth it. Jonica was wonderful. She is very passionate about what she does and she was generous with her time and her knowledge. It was a fascinating experience and Jonica also tailored it a bit to be more interesting to our young daughter too. We got to witness almost 200 y/o weaving looms in action. The best parts were of course learning about a lot of things from pattern making, weaving, and even what happens at the wholesale and trade dept. It was nice for our daughter to see how things are made and the process things you order online go through before they get to you. Surprisingly her favorite part was seeing items like blankets go down the slide and not the awesome weaving looms in action 😂. The staff members at the store and at the mill were very friendly as well. We only learned about this after we looked it up because we kept passing by their beautiful structure almost everyday for a week. It wasn’t even on our itinerary or activity list but surprisingly this was one of the highlights of our visit to Plett. I definitely recommend scheduling a guided tour if you have time to spare, they let you in some areas that are not accessible if you are doing the self guided one. I recommend this. Thank you Mungo and Jonica ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed here for 2 nights in December. It started off really well with a nice check in with coffee and cake. The views are to die for but lots of improvements elsewhere are needed. I was a bit disappointed by the room was it has ants in the room coming from both the balcony and bathroom. In addition the small pool has only 4 deck chairs and we couldn't really use the pool until late in the evening. Also no pool towels were avaliable ( the cleaners took it from our room). Nice location but service to be improved.

What a beautiful place. Small pool with a view of the sea. Rich breakfast buffet. Heidi and her team take care of the guests' wishes with great commitment. Heidi sent the charger, which we had forgotten, to Cape Town. Many thanks for the great excursion informations.

Super nice rooms (yey for floor heating) and the best breakfast ever. The pool is kinda shallow but still nice. I can only recommend getting the afternoon cake/snack, ours was awesome

Probably the accomodation ever. 5 stars are too less... Everything was amazing, the room, the cheminay, the bathroom, the balcony, the breakfast. The staff is also very nice and friendly and provided nice recommendations for the places nearby.

I stayed last Dec 2010 with my wife for our honeymoon: it was a combination and believed in what our agency advised: Periwinkle was really good stay, not center city but in the middle of the beachdrive st and in front of the see! To be strongly recommended!

Loved it here. Nice atmosphere, good service, great starters and decent food. The oven unfortunately wasn't available due to loadshedding, so we couldn't order pizzas, lasagne or shepherd's pie.

Lovely restaurant! Super quick service too. We enjoyed their crispy squid heads and also shared a pizza. We begged the waiter to give us a half&half option for the pizza. He wasn’t actually allowed to, but asked the chef for a favour. And I am so glad that he did! The pizza was amazing. We also ordered their espresso martini and a mango margarita. Not the best cocktails I’ve had, but it was good. I really enjoyed the ambience and the music was great!

Heard this place serves amazing pizza and pasta but we’re very disappointed. The dishes were not so good. The next day we couldn’t find a table anywhere else so came back again, this time we ordered stakes- much better! So that I would recommend. Good service and fair prices.

Great food and options for vegetarians and vegans. I haven't had a vegan Sheppard's pie so I tried out this and their pasta. Both were very homey and had lots of flavour. This restaurant seemed to make provision for families with toddlers and children as I saw the manager quickly pull out a baby seat for one of the children (so cute). The chairs were a bit uncomfortable, especially in contrast to the warm and chic atmosphere the restaurant provided. Beautiful artwork on the wall. Toilets were outside the restaurant in the main center.

Pizza was good. Pasta was ok. Too much tomato sauce in it. Would have loved to have some bread to finish it. Staff were nice. Vegan options available

Chilled and quaint restaurant and bar on the main street in Plett. It was not busy at all when I got here, mostly because I came way out of peak season. However, I do recommend their cocktails. Didn't eat anything. Their music is also groovy

Delicious food. Starters, mains, cocktails - everything is top notch. We didn't try any desserts - but guess they are pretty good, too!

Le Fournil is a French bakery and cafe that is a favourite for brunch and lunch in the summer. They serve up fresh, artisanal breads and pastries, as well as breakfasts and sandwiches, all made from scratch. favourites include their Truth Coffee, salted caramel cheesecake and chocolate croissants. The bakery has a lovely courtyard off Main Street that is perfect for hanging out in the shade on a hot day.
Fantastic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️time here at Le Fournil de Plett bakery and café in Plattenberg Bay. The service was incredible, the food was exceptional and the drinks are cold and fast. The decor inside is inviting and homely and has that special French flair. Our waitress, Belle, was a star and really took care of us. She was efficient and friendly. I can highly recommend this is your favourite breakfast spot in Plett and it’s got stunning views out on the balcony. Inside by the fireplace on a cold day is the place where you want to be. the menu is comprehensive and they have a lot of pastries, baked goods and delicious breakfasts to choose from, along with a lot of options for lunch.
Jacques T — Google review
Good restaurant, we liked it but we were shocked by the prices. We ordered an omelet with tomatoes, cheese and mushrooms, but they charged us 30 for tomatoes, 20 for mushrooms, 30 for cheese and 25 for eggs. It's not reasonable. Everything has a different price and they're all on one plate. I don't know if these are their prices or if they deceived us.

Delicious spinach and mushroom quiche, lots of cheese in and on it. The chocolate croissant was also great. Minus 1 star because the latte’s milk was too hot and it spoils the taste.

Wow. Time and time again the world proves to me that there is no better almond croissant than that of Le Fournil. I’m not sure how they do it, but however they do I hope they never stop. Outside area under the willow tree is superb and coffee is delicious!!
Emma P — Google review
Le Fournil Bakery is located in the boutique Lookout Centre and the restaurant is on the top floor (okay there are only two floors, but it still gives a great view over the town). Service was sharp and efficient. Thanks so much to the server staff (whose name currently escapes me) but they made the experience special. The food was well-prepared and tasty. What more do you need? There is additional seating in the courtyard as well as the balcony and you can see that some regulars have their favourite spots. Pricing is very attractive and it would be a good idea to see this concept expended to other places – especially small towns. The wheelchair seems a bit steep.

Beautiful decor inside, very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and well presented, surprised me as I was not sure what to expect, as was not so sure off this place. Coffee was nice and strong and Bell and Matthew the waiters were very friendly and extremely helpful! They bread 🍞 is lovery we took some home too and for my father in-law. Overall I would definitely come back and recommend it!

We stumbled upon the brewery by chance today. We were very impressed by the property. We ordered something to eat there. It was delicious. The burger was very tasty, the meat was very tender. The beer was really delicious. As a German, I can highly recommend the Hefeweizen. The waiter, Avu, was very friendly and gave us good advice. The restrooms were very clean. There was plenty of soap and paper towels.

We spent three nights in Plettenberg Bay as tourists and ended up eating at Barringtons twice — simply because it was that good! On our first evening, we had the beef and chicken burgers, both absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. We were so impressed that we came back two nights later for the Korma beef curry and the salmon, which were both full of flavor and beautifully presented. For dessert, we tried the Crème Brûlée and Tiramisu — both were outstanding and the perfect finish to an amazing meal. The ambience at Barringtons is warm, stylish, and inviting, and the service was excellent on both nights — attentive, friendly, and professional. We highly recommend Barringtons to anyone visiting Plettenberg Bay. A true gem with wonderful food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service!

We had such a wonderful lunch at Barringtons. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary & the waitress brought us two glasses of delicious champagne with berries in. She also brought our kids a marsh mellow each & were so kind to them. Our meal was delicious and the veggie gardens were also so well kept and was nice to walk through. Next time we visit Plett, we will definitely be back again.

We (my wife and I) have thoroughly enjoyed breakfasts, lunches and bar drinks here at Barrington’s Restaurant, Bar and Terraces. When they say you can enjoy long lazy breakfasts and lunches out on one of the many sunny terraces, this is absolutely spot on (although yesterday it rained so we had breakfast inside and still enjoyed a lazy breakfast and the vibe!). The food, service and the experience is not to be missed. With so many tables there’s no hurry, indeed it was very busy but we were not rushed at all. We came here last year for the first time. It’s very impressive. Walking through the kitchen gardens is lovely, so well set out and manicured. The restaurant and terraces are very clean and well thought out. The food is excellent . The bar and the beer they brew is also fabulous. I think this is an experience not to be missed, after a few visits I can confidently say we have not been disappointed, indeed we really look forward to coming here. I hope you enjoy it too!

Hotel
Beacon Island Resort offers airy rooms and suites with stunning bay views, along with a luxurious spa, two seafood restaurants, and two pools. The hotel is a popular choice for various types of holidays, from weekend getaways to family vacations. Guests can enjoy sundowners at the swanky retro interior of the hotel while taking in breathtaking views of the beach. The resort also provides a daily program of activities for both adults and children, ensuring an enjoyable stay for all guests.
It feels like a real ISLAND! The location is perfect!! We saw dolphins for FREE lol. What a beautiful place to visit with the whole family. The stuff are soo respectful and polite. The place is super clean, like my kids put a white towel on the floor and it didn't have an ounce of dirt on it lol. THE ENTERTAINMENT IS THE BOMB!! I couldn't stop dancing. They kept the kids busy with indoor activities. My son has special needs (autistic) and they were very accommodating of him especially when it came to the food since he only eats certain types of food. They have a GYM, HELLO!!! You get a courtesy ride to the market to do your shopping.. Like words can't explain how amazing this place is. WATCH OUT FOR THE SEAGULS THOUGH, THEY WILL STEAL YOUR FOOD!!!! Lol. Go and experience it for yourself, it's a beautiful place - the atlantic ocean is beautiful!!!

Really friendly staff and the rooms are smart with quality fittings, even a wine fridge. The food was fantastic in the restaurant, we were so impressed with the menu and the presentation. Very safe for children, even a large children's room which is supervised Three heated pools and sauna, bowls and tennis courts plus much more. Very impressed with evening entertainment. Wheelchair friendly and a feeling of an up market hotel, plenty of huge glass panels so all can see the sea and dolphins and whales, I shall be back to enjoy again. Cost is middle class, meals are extra and wine can be expensive.
Geoff S — Google review
I've seen Beacon Island change ove the past 39 years (mostly for the worse sadly). The rooms were upgraded in 2022 which was a nice change, and they've done a good job. However that is where it mostly spots. The negatives: They have removed the Jacuzzi The Gym is tiny There is only one small pool table for adults The Captain's Cabin uses the Robberg Room menu due to the Robberg Room being renovated. This makes no sense because you have no option for "finer" dining at the resort anymore. You also get very similar quality food that you get from the Beacon Café, which isn't great. They steam all their side vegetables and their salad, mainly lettuce tastes like fish soap (not joking). They are also doing other work where the pizza restaurant used to be, so another restaurant out of commission. There is no buffet option, which honestly was so much fun. The modern look has lost the island vibe you used to get when walking into the hotel, it's mostly bland now which just makes it all feel a bit sad. The entertainment for kids is boring, there used to be a dedicated person who did far more fun things with kids, especially sand castle building (day & night). Positives: The head of entertainment is still the same guy after 30 years (maybe more), and he's fantastic. There's a good itinerary with activities for most of the day and the staff are mostly very helpful. The rooms The service staff (mostly) Overall the nostalgia of Beacon Island is still strong but it's lost almost all of its island life charm. We find ourselves eating out for breakfast and dinner almost everyday at more affordable prices with far superior food. I think first time guests will still most likely enjoy their stay but damn, you have no idea how good it used to be.

5/5 Stars: A Wonderful Family Getaway We had an exceptional stay at this resort, which truly caters to families with its thoughtful amenities and services. The kids' entertainment and play rooms were a highlight, keeping our little ones engaged and happy throughout our stay. The indoor and outdoor swimming facilities were impeccably clean and a joy to use. The resort's family-oriented atmosphere was evident in every aspect, from the staff's warm smiles to the variety of activities available. The two restaurants on site offered a range of options, from quick bites to delicious meals, ensuring that there was something for everyone. While we loved every aspect of our stay, one suggestion for improvement would be the addition of family rooms with bunk beds for kids. The sleeper couches, while convenient, were not the most comfortable for our children. The staff's helpfulness and accommodating nature made our stay even more enjoyable. We left with memories to cherish and, admittedly, a few tears – a testament to how much we loved our time here. We would highly recommend this resort to families looking for a wonderful getaway.

Two kinds of malls: the all-under-one roof ones with covered parking, and the ones with all the shops arranged around the open-air parking lots in the middle. The all-under-one roof ones require no umbrellas. This is a rained-on one. So don't go when it rains, or without an umbrella. But it's a nice one, so go!

I did go to the market square to check it out what kind of businesses one can find there. And I was positively surprised that so many different shops were there and opened. The set up looks a bit temporary, after all they were evicte from their privious location because a big appartment building was put up there. But the market is definitely back and ready for guests. The stunning views of Keurbooms Lagoon, the Indian Ocean, Tsitsikamma Mountains, and Robberg Peninsula add to the allure of this immaculately maintained course. The estate also boasts top-notch facilities including tennis courts and a restaurant called The Verandah with breathtaking views.
From the staff to the course condition, the halfway house, the carts, the accomodation and everything in between, the this is a great golf course. The course is in fantastic condition and I would wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone. This is a golf course the owners can be very proud of.

What a great golf course. The pro shop is well stocked, the course is in excellent condition, and the halfway house food selection is pretty decent. One gripe from me, being a handicapped member at Metropolitan in Cape Town, I found the green fees pretty expensive! Even so, we will be back.

A relaxed vibe, stunning scenery and an awesome course, make this Golf Club a fantastic place to spend a few hours. The Verandah Restuarant at the clubhouse provides an awesome menu at a reasonable price.

Very nice estate, well kempt and with amazing facilities. They have a two tennis courts here too. There is also a good restaurant, The Verandah, with amazing views at the Clubhouse. The views from the accommodation units are great. This is a secure estate set on the fringes of Plettenberg Bay. Easily accessible on the N2. The security details are professional and friendly.

Exceptionally beautiful golf course. The greens are amazing!!! The fairways immaculate and the staff so friendly & helpful. The Marshall even drove off to get us some water/drinks mid round!
Megan M — Google review
I enjoy playing this course. It is in immaculate condition. The greens are consistently quick and a bit tricky to read. The fairways are well manicured. Some tough and challenging holes and some fairly encouraging ones. The course is well balanced. If you can't stay on the Fairway, your ball is lost in the fynbos on most holes. You also get to meet many friendly and interesting people, locals and international visitors. Also ran into the wonderful gentleman, the Black Knight himself - Gary Player - who designed the golf course! I recommend it.

I'm not a golfer, but enjoy to accompany my husband. Beautiful course, beautiful scenery. Plenty bird life. Fantastic carrot cake at halfway house. The ladies cloakroom is an oasis

Central Beach is a popular spot among locals and families in Plettenberg Bay. It's known for its good restaurants and bars, making it a great place to grab lunch. The beach is part of a collection of sandy white beaches in the area, including Lookout Beach, Keurboomstrand, and Robberg Beach. Central Beach is particularly busy during the summer season when it attracts holidaymakers.
A most beautiful beach even on a chilly winters day - clean - ample parking - nice facilities - lovely cafes and restaurants- lifesaving and NSRI at hand - beautiful views across the bay and a lovely community of locals ! Highly recommended no matter the weather 🌦️⛈️

Nice venue. Very popular during holiday seasons. Plett is always a great place to spend time. Been visiting for 40+ years and it never disappoints.

Plett Beach is pure bliss! 🌊 It was so relaxing to just sit back and soak in the atmosphere. Even though it wasn’t peak season, the beach still had a wonderful energy with a fair number of people enjoying the sun and sea. What stood out was how safe and well-managed it felt—lifeguards were on duty, which gave us peace of mind. We were lucky enough to watch seals frolicking in the waves, and the seagulls made for the perfect photo moments (we even fed them and got the most beautiful shots 📸). This beach has everything—natural beauty, a lively yet laid-back vibe, and those little unexpected moments that make it unforgettable. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and can’t wait to come back.

I loved how clean it is. There are garbage bins everywhere. The place feels safe. It is also good for swimming. The paintings from the vendors are spectacular.
Puleng T — Google review
Plettenberg Bay, fondly called Plett, is South Africas seaside sweetheart with beaches so golden they make your SPF cry. First spotted by Portuguese explorers in 1487 and now overrun by sunburnt Europeans pretending to be surfers, it is the Garden Route’s glossy postcard child. Here you can swim with dolphins if they’re in the mood, watch whales breach while you chew overpriced calamari, or just stare at the Indian Ocean and wonder how long before global warming makes this your front yard. The bay is ringed by Robberg Nature Reserve, a scenic hike that tricks you into thinking you’re athletic while Cape fur seals laugh at your cardio. In short, Plettenberg Bay is where the jet set meets the sea gulls, bucket lists get a tick, and sand finds its way into body parts science still hasn’t named.

Central Beach is a wide open clean beach in Plettenberg Bay. It’s across from Beacon Island and there’s a river that feeds into it, but it looks like an ideal surfer and sunbathing spot (in summer). There are lifeguards on duty and there’s also a full service NSRI station located right on the beach for high speed response times and that makes you feel much safer. Parking is ample and free.
Duncan A — Google review
Always a great beach to visit. The bathrooms were clean, the restaurant was fair and the ice-cream shop was fantastic. There are a number of activities available from boat rides to snorkeling. The water was freezing though. 🥶
Edward C — Google review
Great beach to relax and swim . It's calm and clean not too busy . Just good vibes and a nice day out . Facilities are close by like ablutions and a few shops and restaurants . Ocean boat rides depart directly from the beach and launched via tractor , this was really cool to watch .as it operates like a mini sea airport with boats being pushed out to sea and retrieved back from sea by the green tractor .

The Robberg Beach Lodge - Lion Roars Hotels & Lodges is a modern beachside resort in Plettenberg Bay, offering comfortable rooms and suites. The lodge provides stunning ocean views from its rooftop deck and features inviting pools for relaxation. Situated in a bohemian seaside town overlooking the bay and mountains, the lodge is close to hipster coffee shops, seafood restaurants, boutiques, and various attractions such as nature reserves, golf courses, animal sanctuaries, and beautiful beaches.
We had three nights in a Double luxury room, just perfect for everything, a short drive into Plettenberg for some shopping or a meal out. The Beach was straight out of the front door across the road. The food and wine was amazing, I had the Steak one night which was perfectly cooked to my liking. The Breakfast had plenty of choice and excellent quality. WiFi worked where ever you were in the hotel. Definitely recommend The Beach lodge as a place to stay if you’re traveling the garden route.

The view is beautiful, which is the only good thing about this hotel, so I’m giving it two stars. The hotel itself is old and worn down, nothing like the pictures. It’s overpriced, noisy, and humid. The staff seemed uninterested and unfriendly. It’s definitely not worth the price. We didn’t feel comfortable at all and were relieved when we could finally leave.

Stayed for 3 nights on our honeymoon trip and absolutely loved it. The staff were so lovely, friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcomed. The room was beautiful, such breathtaking views of the sea and had everything we needed. The breakfasts were delicious, cold and hot food included, and the one dinner we had in the restaurant was great. No complaints and would highly recommend.

A truly wonderful hotel with beautifully designed and comfortable rooms that make you feel at home right away. The location is perfect – peaceful, yet close to everything you might want to explore. The cuisine is exceptional, with a great selection of delicious and well-prepared dishes. What really makes the difference, though, is the staff: everyone is incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant stay. We felt truly welcomed and well taken care of throughout our visit. Highly recommended!

Beautiful great value for money unit, home away from home, comfortable friendly accommodation option short or longer stays. Very neat, well serviced, easy and professional check in provided by host. Set in lovely serene surrounds. Central to all amenities. Recommended!

We stayed at 11 River Club for 3 nights during June. We had a fairly comfortable stay. We found the place very clean which was a bonus. Unfortunately, there are serious matters needing attention from the owners. 1. The oven is rusty and does not cook the food properly. Rust is extremely toxic when heated and toxic to ones health. This oven needs to be replaced. 2. The fridge make a very loud noise 24 hours a day. We found it difficult to sleep with all the noise it continuously makes. 3. The couch in the lounge, you are unable to sit on it without falling into a hole. The bathroom towels, only one towel per person. During winter and rainy seasons, there should be at least 2 towels per person. With no tumble dryer to assist in drying the towels, we were constantly drying ourselves with wet towels.

Nice gated estate near to the beach. The only missing things would be a little store inside the area (or a notice that the butcher and bakery are right over the street) and maybe one more gate with direction to the ocean. The personal is friendly and welcoming and all houses look good serviced (from the outside)

View on the sea (located on the beach). All restaurants nearby. You can't have a better location. The breakfast did take very long to bake an egg, but it was good.

I happened upon this place, almost "by mistake". On a "going nowhere slowly" road trip, I arrived in Plett early evening and drove around looking for somewhere to stay for a night or two. Called the number on their board outside the hotel and voila! The best find EVER! It's across the road from the best swimming beach in Plett and surrounded by great restaurants; it's also a 3 minute drive to another plethora of restaurants on the main road. The staff are unbelievably kind, efficient, friendly and attentive! The rooms are spacious, bright and just so practical. Amazing, large, high-pressure shower. They have a generator for when loadshedding kicks in. The hotel has the feel of a boutique establishment without being pretentious, with fewer than 15 rooms. Their rates are unbeatable value for money and include a made-to-order hot breakfast as well as a buffet continental offering. And they have a wonderful coffee machine in the lobby, that is complimentary around the clock. Safe and plentiful parking. I highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to return.

This is a really well located accommodation facility. The staff are super friendly, the rooms are very modern, comfortable and spotless. Excellent breakfast served every morning too. This place doesn't necessarily deserve 5 star (maintenance needed) but Debbie, the manager, does. She was the most heartwarming and welcoming host. She is very knowledgeable on the area and she has the comfort of guests at heart. Thank you for everything ❤️ The location of the backpacker is amazing, the room is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. Everything was super clean all the time ! However, as said, maintenance is needed in the room.

Basically the BnB is clean (rubbish was not empty though) and does not smell bad. Nevertheless, we encountered a few problems. Let's start with our room. There were four of us in the Groote River Room. This looks blown down. You can tell the age of a lot of the furniture, it creaks and you can see the press marks. The mattresses are basically okay but still hard. Now to the big drawback of the room, on Booking.com it said kitchen included, but I still think that a kitchen should have a sink. But we didn't have one. The water pressure in the bathroom was good, but the shower head had calcified. During the night, the power also went off once and after it came on, the socket strips with our mobile phone chargers were without power but the TV with power and being woken up in the middle of the night by a loud TV is not pleasant. In addition, the water tap of the washbasin was falling off and turning it on with one hand was not an option. Finally, I would like to mention the high-speed internet, which was a great 2m/bits (slow) maximum in the room, but I also saw 0.06 m/bits with an internet speed test.

I can only recommend the Lala Panzi B&B, not because of having been there (unfortunately), but because of excellent, timely and sustainable support received in an unfortunatel situation my wife and myself came in recently as a result of floodings in the area end of September 2023. Birds of Eden is a free-flight sanctuary that spans over 5 acres and boasts more than 200 bird species. The area is covered by a massive mesh dome, allowing visitors to enjoy self-guided walks while being surrounded by birds in their natural habitat. The wooden walkway takes guests from the root level of tall trees all the way up to the treetops and ceiling of the dome, providing an amazing experience.
Expect a Jurassic Park experience, but without the dinosaurs. It’s quite impressive with the numerous bird species that have the freedom to fly within such a large enclosure—one of the biggest in the world. I recommend purchasing the species identification guide for an additional R20. The walkways are sturdy and safe, with benches available for resting if needed. Unfortunately, the pathways are not wheelchair-friendly unless you're prepared for a rugged journey. Take your time, and don’t rush; let others pass who may be in a hurry. To make the most of your visit, allow yourself between one and two hours for a self-guided tour. The amphitheater was closed during our visit, probably due to maintenance upgrades. There is a restaurant near the exit, so you’ll need to complete the route to be able to enjoy it. If you’re a serious birdwatcher, I recommend avoiding visits during peak holiday seasons and weekends, as it can get quite crowded—but the birds won’t mind! Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. I suggest that management consider offering overnight accommodations in a jungle-style setting; it would be unforgettable to wake up with all those birds greeting the dawn. Don’t forget to spot the flying fox—you might just get lucky!

Loved Birds of Eden! We were taken around by 20 year veteran guide Eric. The aviary is enormous and the birds truly live in paradise. They can freely fly, have plenty of space and water, seed and fruit buffets setup for them in many places. Our tour lasted just over an hour. The landscaping is stunning, so much greenery, a waterfall, suspension bridge. We saw many species of bird including natives to South Africa - my favourite being the Turaco. My all time favourites the Macaw were also there in blue and yellow and scarlet varieties were also here. Flamingoes, scarlet ibis, geese, egrets, lovebirds - all here. You can buy a bird identification book at the gift shop for only R20. The birds you see on your visit will vary because the aviary is so huge. Reminded me a lot of KL Bird Park in Malaysia - all Birds of Eden is a lot more expensive. I wish we could have had lunch at the cafe overlooking the lake but our visit was very early in the morning. Bonus - resident cat that lives in the female bathrooms.

The most incredible experience we've had in South Africa so far! Give yourself AT LEAST two hours to walk through and be amazed. I can't say enough about it: here's a few thousand more words, in pictures! Many of the birds are so accustomed to this no-touch sanctuary that they feel completely comfortable posing for close-up photos. Unforgettable!

Birds of Eden was an unforgettable highlight of our trip! The aviary is enormous, with well-maintained and comfortable walkways that wind beautifully through the trees. Along the way, we were treated to some stunning views and an incredible variety of fascinating birds. This isn't a place to rush through—it's best enjoyed at a leisurely pace, allowing time to wander slowly, observe, and appreciate the birds in their naturalistic habitat. Highly recommended!

Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation & Awareness Centre is a non-profit organization that offers lodging, tours and experiences to visitors who can observe various big cats such as lions, leopards and cheetahs. The center aims to raise funds for the rehabilitation of injured wild animals, although visitors are not allowed to visit these facilities due to safety concerns. The knowledgeable guides provide valuable insights into the conservation efforts at Tenikwa, making it an educational experience for those interested in wildlife conservation.
A wonderful experience. Knowledge and friendly guides take you up close to the big cats. There's penguins, meerkats and more. This wildlife centre is focussed on the rehabilitation of animals that have been unwell or mistreated. There's a small cafe to enjoy a drink or snack. Recommended

Tenikwa is a excellent place for family bring kids to visit. My little girl really enjoyed to vist Tenikwa. Tenikwa is a non- profit wildlife animals place, there is a wildlife hospital to rescued so many animals, and also adopted some of them if they are not suitable to live at wild anymore. The tour guider is really nice and to introduce all animals to our family, and educating kids how to save the environment.
Carrie W — Google review
Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation & Awareness Centre is a truly remarkable place that highlights the humane and compassionate side of wildlife conservation. It provides care for animals that can no longer survive in the wild, such as lions, cheetahs, and other endangered species. Injured animals are treated and, if possible, released back into their natural habitat. Those that cannot return to the wild are given a safe and supportive environment within the center. One of the most impressive aspects of Tenikwa is how close visitors can get to the animals, all under the guidance of knowledgeable and passionate guides. We were fortunate to be accompanied by Davison, who made the experience truly exceptional. Even better, our visit happened to coincide with feeding time, so we got to witness cheetahs and other wild cats being fed—a rare and unforgettable sight. By purchasing a ticket, you’re not just enjoying a unique experience—you’re also directly supporting the center’s mission to care for and protect wildlife. It’s an experience that combines education, conservation, and awe-inspiring encounters with nature. A visit to Tenikwa is absolutely worth it.

Our entire experience at Tenikwa Wildlife Centre was amazing. From arrival to departure, we were made to feel welcome and felt that the friendly staff went out of their way to make our experience feel memorable. Sleeping in the self catering eco-cabin amongst gorgeous fynbos, just meters away from the lions, was the most wonderful unforgettable experience. We felt their presence the entire time - even in the middle of the night, when they blessed us with their goosebump-generating roars! We so enjoyed unwinding on the little porch, having a cup of coffee in the morning listening to the birds, or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening, just taking in the night time sounds and experience, and reconnecting with nature. Be prepared for an early morning wake up call from the lions – no need for an alarm clock! You’ll want to record their gorgeous guttural sound – it’s a really humbling experience to experience up close. How wonderful to be able to see the Lions from every angle. Just being in their presence was the most incredible experience we have ever had. Kuluma and Mkulu sat and “chatted” with us up close and personal at the fence a few times – and having never been so close to Lions before, this was quite a soul-stirring experience. They really are just spectacularly beautiful. The guided tour around the sanctuary was fantastic. Our beautiful photographs will be treasured. Zwelakhe the Leopard was a gorgeous model, and we have captured stunning mischievous Meerkat moments. All staff were super professional, yet laid back enough to make you feel so welcomed and relaxed. We travel and adventure often in our beautiful country, and were struck by how much the staff at this centre genuinely love their animals, telling us little stories of their antics, and sharing their personality traits and quirks with us. The sanctuary itself is so beautifully maintained and most importantly all the animals had ample space and they looked really healthy and happy. This sanctuary was developed to treat and home (if absolutely necessary) rescued wild animals that have been injured or for other reasons are unable to survive on their own in the wild. We were shocked to hear that Tenikwa often deals with over 200 injured animals a month in their animal hospital. It is an absolute credit to the amazing owners that they have dedicated their lives to this worthy work. Knowing that our booking contributes in some small way to this important cause, I could not recommend it any higher. We didn’t have tine to indulge in the Spa treatments on offer at the facility, but took a tour of the Spa centre – and will make sure we include this in our itinerary next time. If you haven’t put Tenikwa Wildlife Sanctuary on your bucket list yet, we recommend that you do.

What a truly amazing experience as a manager of backpackers able to tell the guests all about the wildlife rehabilitation centre truly amazing 😍 And it did rain on us a few time but it was truly amazing thank you...

If there’s one place on this holiday that truly moved me, it was the Tenikwa Rehabilitation and Awareness Centre. From the moment we arrived, it was clear just how deeply Mandy, Len, Keri, Alex and their team care for every animal they look after. Their dedication isn’t just something you see — you feel it. We weren’t able to see the animals currently being rehabilitated, as they wisely limit human contact, but that only made the experience more meaningful. We were privileged to meet the lions, cheetahs and the many other varieties of wild cats who, for various reasons, cannot return to the wild. And it wasn’t just the big cats — the sanctuary is also home to an incredible range of other animals, including meerkats, penguins, tortoises and a huge variety of birdlife. Being surrounded by so much life and hearing each animal’s story was deeply humbling. We were shown around by Msizi and Zama, whose knowledge, warmth and respect for the animals added so much depth to the experience. Our stay was just as special. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and wonderfully comfortable. Spending a night in one of the lion cabins was an experience I’ll carry with me forever — drifting off to sleep with the sounds of the sanctuary around us felt truly magical. Breakfast the next morning, prepared by Precious and Davidson, was made to order, beautifully cooked, and such a great start to the day. A recent addition to Tenikwa is their wellness centre, where we enjoyed a fabulous massage by Josephine — a perfect way to unwind. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this remarkable non-profit organisation. It will touch your heart, and our support helps sustain the extraordinary, compassionate work they do for some of the world’s most vulnerable animals.

A wonderful, informative and transparent wildlife sanctuary. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the grounds are very well kept! We left with new insight into the work that goes into conservation, and the meaning behind a TRUE wildlife sanctuary. Their motto rings true: “Come with an Open Mind, Tread with a Lighter Step, Leave with a Change of Heart”... A worthy cause to support when in the area.

Monkeyland is a sanctuary offering guided tours to observe free-ranging primates such as capuchin monkeys, lemurs, and gibbons. The knowledgeable and entertaining guides make the experience worthwhile. Visitors are advised to attend feeding times for optimal viewing opportunities but should be cautious of blue vervet monkeys. Unfortunately, the restaurant is not recommended due to poor service from rude and lazy waitresses who prioritize their phones over customers.
It‘s not a „zoo“. This is you as the guest in THEIR habitat. They decide on their own if they would be visible or not. Magic places and really nice monkeys… shy ones, discreet ones… and gangsters. Perfect also for children. Will be a guided tour to protect guests- AND monkeys. ;-)

A very well guided experience of the monkey sanctuary. Interesting to find out that the monkeys own the land that they roam around in. The whole setup and experience is nice and you get to come close to a lot of the monkeys during the tour. The tour is guided so you’re not free to roam around and last about and hour. Would recommend as an alternative activity if you’re in the area. Overall would recommend.

Amazing experience for the whole family. The tour guide was well informed. He showed us each Monkey in retrospec of differences. We enjoyed the tour thoroughly and will definitely visit there one day. It was an absolute highlight on our vacation. Thanks Monkeyland.

What a special experience, getting to walk amongst these adorable monkeys in their natural habitat. Listening to the sounds of nature, seeing the monkeys at peace and living free was a really rewarding experience. The fact that they have been rescued and rehabilitated is also such an important cause, and one that we should all get behind. You can get involved and reclaim their land by paying for a block of land - each piece helping to extend their home. Such a worthwhile visit and one my wife and I would suggest to anyone visiting or staying in Plettenberg Bay.

Informative and interesting visit to Monkeyland. We saw Gibbons, Langurs, Lemurs, Capuchin Monkey, Howler Monkey, Spider Monkey, Vervet Monkey. The animals have healthy food buffets setup for them around the trail. I'm not a biologist so am not sure of the implications of housing this many monkey species freeroaming in the same area that would never cross each other's paths in the wild as they live on different continents. The widowed and childless female Gibbon was very sad to see. She looked despondent. Unfortunately our guide became preoccupied with retrieving a pair of prescription glasses stolen by a monkey from a person in a previous group. He warned us he was going to throw a rock near it to get it to drop the glasses. A rock about half the size of a cricket ball was pegged at the monkey. I thought it was going to hit it. The monkey took off further up the tree. We stood several times for minutes at a time alone while he went back to try again, making the tour very disjointed. The glasses werent even for anyone in our group so we had no vested interest. The glasses were not retrieved. The pitch on arrival to buy a 1m3 patch of land in trust to the monkeys would probably be best served at the end of the tour after we have seen the park. It is hard to commit to something (even a small donation such as this) without experiencing the facility first. At the end we were taken back a different way and nowhere near the gift shop and reception area and I'm sure some people would have donated then. We much preferred our visit to Birds of Eden next door. Quite expensive for a 1 hour tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our zany and educational experience at Monkeyland. Our guide Ralph was very knowledgeable and indulged all our questions. It was so fun and relaxing walking throught the forest and see the monkeys get into all sorts of hijinks - including a near successful theft of my water bottle! Some of the monkeys are very cheeky. A must-do in the region!

We really enjoyed our visit to the Elephant Sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay. It was an unforgettable experience for me and my family, walking hand in hand with the elephants and getting so close to these gentle giants. The staff were very friendly and explained everything in a simple and interesting way, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Feeding and interacting with the elephants was truly special, and my kids absolutely loved it. A memorable family experience that we highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

A fantastic park for up-close encounters with elephants. The guides are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable — by the end of your visit, you’ll know each elephant by name: Thandi, Nandi, Thato, and Keisha. To make your visit even more special and connect with the elephants, be sure to buy a basket of vegetables at the counter — they’ll love being fed by you!

We made sure to visit the Elephant Sanctuary in Plettenberg Bay, and it was an absolute treat! The elephants are incredibly well-cared for, and the experience was truly unforgettable. After walking alongside these gentle giants, we gathered in the forest for an intimate photo session, where we could feed and interact with the elephants. The sanctuary also offers a keepsake video of the tour, with proceeds supporting their conservation efforts. Additionally, you can purchase unique elephant footprint art to support the sanctuary and take a memorable piece home. I highly recommend visiting and supporting this incredible sanctuary, ensuring they can continue providing exceptional care and maintaining the park's pristine condition.

Lloyd was a knowledgeable and personable guide who clearly loves the elephants. The elephant handlers of Jabu, Marula and Thandi were awesome!!! Hearing about the elephants, their story (Jabu and Marula lost the tip of their trunks being caught in snares, Thandi never developed tusks), giving them snacks and walking with them was, while daunting, a lovely experience. All elephants here are rescues. Go and meet the elephants!!

Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary is a sanctuary for large cats such as leopards, jaguars and Bengal tigers. The sanctuary operates on a no-touch, no-breed policy. Visitors are advised to bring water with them as it can get hot. Some of the animals were hiding in their shelters or in the shade during the visit but became active during feeding time at 3pm. The tour lasted about an hour and visitors can purchase gifts and enjoy coffee, food and snacks at the restaurant.
We had a wonderful visit to Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary truly an amazing location with a wide variety of animals. We were lucky enough to see almost all of them, except for the elusive black leopard. A big thank you to Bazel, our animal tour guide, for making the experience so informative and memorable! #Jukani #South_Africa

Thank you Jukani for a wonderful visit! My girl had a South African book with her and looked up each animal as we saw it and read all the interesting facts about that animal. My boy could answer our guides questions about the differences in all the cats. The Hyena was hectic for me, much bigger than I thought and so menacing. We loved every second of this outing! Will definitely visit again when the kids are a few years older.

I'm not gonna lie, you have to be lucky. Sometimes, the animals will show, sometimes not. Overall, there are enough animals to be sure to see at least half of them As for us, we were pretty lucky. One tiger got up and walked back and forth near the fence for a solid 5 minutes, the lions were sleeping but not far. Only the cheetahs were pretty shy and we could only observe them from a distance. Remember though that this is a refuge for abused animals, THIS IS NOT A ZOO. The owners have no obligation to bait the animals so that you can see them. The guide will do his best to show them to you but without disturbing the animals' daily routine
Nicolas G — Google review
The enclosure for the animals seem big enough and diverse environment. All are “rescued” from closed zoos or breeding farms. But still it is rather commercial: guiding many many people through the park, shouting and rattling so that every cat is coming to the visitors. Cats also seem a bit chubby.

Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary is a wildlife center that specializes in African snakes and other reptiles. It provides guided tours and educational programs for visitors to interact with these animals, including the opportunity to hold snakes and pet a monitor lizard. The tour lasts around an hour, during which visitors can learn about each of the animals up close. In addition, there are crocodiles on site, making it a unique experience for nature enthusiasts.
We had an incredible time at Lawnwood Snake Sanctuary! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the experience both educational and entertaining. Despite the drizzle, we never felt rushed, which allowed us to fully enjoy and appreciate the tour. The highlight was getting to touch the snakes—a thrilling and unique experience! The sanctuary is well-maintained, and it's clear that the staff genuinely care about the reptiles. Definitely worth the visit and great value for the price. Highly recommend for anyone interested in learning more about these fascinating creatures.

Had a bit of fun seeing some wolves and huskies. Pity we could not do the tour where they take you into the cages due to kids under 12 not allowed but still a good experience if you are an animal lovers like us because they have other animals around that can pet and feed. We do not always like to see them in captivity but we understand the importance of these sanctuaries which take in rescues who will probably not fair well should they be released back into the wild. If your a family with kids under 12 then atleast you can buy feed before entering so that the young ones can interact with the rabbits, monkeys, sheep, emu, geese, goats, etc. The rabbit enclosure allows u to touch and feed them which is probably a favourite for most kids. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Facilities and toilets are well maintained and the experience was quite good overall without any issues.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly special and educational experience! Visiting the Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary was one of the highlights of our trip. The sanctuary is beautifully maintained, and the staff are clearly passionate about the animals and their wellbeing. It’s not just wolves—they have huskies, jackals, wild dogs, and even some farm animals, all in spacious and clean enclosures. The guided tour was both informative and engaging. We learned a lot about the wolves’ behaviour, their rescue stories, and the importance of conservation. You can really feel how much love and care goes into every part of this sanctuary. What stood out most was the peaceful atmosphere—perfect for animal lovers and families alike. The walkways are easy to follow, and there’s even a lovely little café and gift shop on site. Also, the opportunity to see wolves up close in a safe and ethical environment is something you don’t come across often. Highly recommended for anyone travelling along the Garden Route—it’s an unforgettable experience and a great way to support animal rescue efforts!

Absolutely stunning facility and the passione and information from the tour guide was just amazing. Loved the experience of meeting all the wolf-dogs and wolves. The 3 adorable huskies oldies were just the cherry on the top of the experience. Very beautiful and misunderstood animals. The farm animals were just the coolest. Thank for a lovely tour and adventure. 5 stars all the way.

Should have more guides on site, although you pay additional for a guided tour, would be a better experience if there was people around showing you the wolves and animals
Indran S — Google review
I visited the Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary with high hopes, especially after paying the R200 entrance fee per person. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed and would not recommend this experience. From the moment we entered, nearly all the wolves were sleeping or completely inactive. I understand that animals have their own rhythms, but as a visitor, it’s quite frustrating to find almost every animal asleep, especially when there is no guidance or signage to manage expectations. What made the experience worse was the attitude of one of the staff members. A female staff member approached us in a very harsh and disrespectful manner early during our visit. I had snapped my fingers trying to get the attention of the wolves—something I didn’t know was not allowed. Instead of politely explaining, she abruptly told me, “Respect! Respect!” in a raised, confrontational tone. I tried to explain that I didn’t know it was against the rules, but she cut me off and falsely accused me of kicking the fence and running around—which I absolutely did not do. I was shocked and frustrated by how she exaggerated what happened. From that point on, she continued to watch us, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Ironically, the small petting farm section turned out to be far more enjoyable than the main wolf area. The farm animals were active, friendly, and fun to interact with—unlike the sleeping wolves and the cold human interaction. In summary: • Ticket price: R200 per person • Animals: Mostly inactive wolves with minimal interaction • Staff: One rude and unprofessional staff member created a very negative atmosphere • Best part: The farm animal section — much more enjoyable than expected Unless staff attitudes and visitor communication improve, I wouldn’t recommend this place. You might regret the visit, just as I did.

The sanctuary also features a charming shop where you can indulge in a refreshing ice cream while taking in the surroundings. We highly recommend adding the Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary to your itinerary when visiting the area. It's an unforgettable experience that supports a wonderful cause!

So glad we got to this! Heading towards the end of our holiday and this was one of the last items on the list to get to. The maze was really good fun, harder than expected and not like a normal maze as you have an added element of going up and over not just following a trail. We purchased the combo and also did the forest walk maze, this is also a must! The forest maze was full for brain teasers and was so much fun, if you do it remember to look around during the walk, you don’t realise how thick the forest is and with the lions roaring in the background makes for a full African experience. The staff were all very friendly and the food at the cafe was very nice but a little on the pricy side. A special mention must go out to Wisdom and David, these two gents bought the experience to life with their enthusiasm and ability to make the activities even more interesting and exciting, thanks guys! Over all an excellent experience, we allowed for the whole day to really enjoy it. The cafe play ground has some nice small games to play as a family and stay out the sun while cooling off and having a drink, so take your time. The facilities and gift store at the entrance are stunning, clean and world class!

It was nice to visit the park, we did some safaris before so this was not the greatest experience for us. Our guide told us to stay together in the group but halfway he was nowhere to be seen and left us. After 15 minutes he showed up with some guests who came late but didn’t say anything to us. We saw some really nice animals.

It was an awesome family experience. We loved the maze. We originally decided to do it together, but the kids decided to do it on their own, so a little competition went on. The rehbus and riddles were fun and the guides were around for help if needed. We then did the forest walk, which was just as fun! We loved solving the puzzles and working together while enjoying the outdoors. A fun experience. We went in the winter season.

We did the maze and forest puzzle combo as a family (8 & 11 y/o). The guides (Wisdom, James and David) were very friendly and helpful. We split into teams and competed against each other in the maze, just added to the fun! Forest puzzles tested our holiday brains. My daughter also left her jersey there and when we went back the next day they remembered her and had it at the kiosk.

I need to admit that I thought this was going to be a kiddies have fun while the adults watch on! It was nothing like that! It was a very fun and complex maze that offered alot of laughs and exercise! We split into teams and raced against one another. We had a blast. There are loads of puzzles and riddles along the way! I'd suggest comfortable shoes, taking your time to enjoy the riddles and having family teams. I'd also suggest setting aside 2-3 hours to fully enjoy the experience!

The maze was quite fun and mind-boggling, especially with the two boys. We went on a cloudy day, so it started raining when we were close to being finished. Luckily they guided us out towards an emergency exit. The animal parks are there as well, but everything is so expensive. There's also a little petting zoo behind the small restaurant, but you have to pay for viewing the animals, which it didn't state anywhere, so I was followed by a lady who told me I have to pay for viewing the animals (in the rain while they were hiding). This was off-putting and the restaurant didn't have a lot to offer, also didn't really have inside seating space, so we opted for another restaurant instead. 5 stars for the puzzle maze though. There's a mini one also for the kids to play in, but obviously couldn't try it out due to the rain.

The puzzle park was a great discovery. We did the maze. It is a lot harder than you think and had parents and kids alike struggling for a full hour. Lovely oasis situated between Knysna and Plettenberg bay. Would recommend as a 1/2 day visit as its great fun for children and adults alike. It has some great water slides which create a great adrenaline rush as you take on the slides. Love it. Has snack selling kiosks as well as offer umbrellas for hire. Nice cold pool and toilet facilities too. Phone beforehand as load shedding does impact functioning of slides. Once loadshedding done, sliding action continues. It could be useful to plan currently around loadshedding times.

Adventure land is definitely an adventure! My family and I absolutely loved it! I love how kids and adults can all enjoy this waterpark. My parents also went on the slides and loved it! I would definitely recommend going here. I would also recommend taking the following with: • A towel (someone there forgot their towels, and there isn’t somewhere to buy one) • Picnic food (there is options to buy there, but we loved having a picnic) • An umbrella (lovely with the picnic. There is also an option to rent an umbrella) • Sunscreen! Definitely a must, since you spend almost all day in the sun. Another thing to note, is that they told us that the slides do not operate during loadshedding. I would also recommend going at 10 in the morning (when they open), so you can enjoy the whole day in the park and get value for your money! The only bad thing I can say, is that some of the people who work at the slides, don’t really care about the rules that much, and do not enforce the rules. The one girl that worked there kept swearing at her friends who were at the park, which I thought was very unprofessional and there were kids around. But all in all a lovely experience, and great value for money!

We had the time of our lives here. So much open space, so much fun, so many slides to accomodate the more calmer souls and also the adrenalin junkies. Such a safe environment and an absolute bliss. A braai and some watermelon was the cherry on the top.

Lovely little market where you can find everything from muffins to musical instruments. I stocked up on some delicious biltong. Parking is free and right next to the market.

A ‘must do’ whenever I visit Plett. The market offers delicious food, coffee, plants, flowers, jewelry, art and fresh fruit & veg. Never disappoints!

Newstead Wine Estate is a must-visit in the Plettenberg Bay area, offering a warm and friendly welcome even on cold and rainy days. The wine tasting experience includes delightful options like the crisp 2022 Rose and smooth Sauvignon Blanc. The estate's history is beautifully displayed with a view over the vineyards, making it an ideal spot to spend an afternoon with good company.
Very nice small vineyard. The location is very nice as it's very peaceful and quiet as you would expect. They do a few wines and a few rosé not red wine 🍷 Restaurant is very nice summer's day to sit outside, food is very tasty and definitely want to try the picnic 🧺 basket for 2 next time. The staff are all friendly and well spoken. Definitely will be back The flatbread 🫓 🥙 is a win.

What a beautiful establishment! The Chardonnay MCC is excellent, as is the food. We had the chilli chicken and the beetroot salad with crispy flatbread. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The resident dogs are adorable! Don’t hesitate - go visit them!
Erica T — Google review
Newstead Wine Estate boasts stunning views and is in a truly beautiful setting in The Crags. We were disappointed that they only had 3 wines for tasting as the one was sold out, but both the MCC's were at least good, although rather expensive. Sadly, the waitron serving us didn't have adequate knowledge of the wines they were selling, as they basically recited the tasting notes verbatim from the bottle label. We also ordered one of their pizzas, which in our opinion turned out to be more of a flatbread than a pizza. All in all, we expected a bit more.
Stealth A — Google review
Delicious food; we had the loaded flatbread and the charcuterie. Lovely sparkling and still wines. Service was very good as well.
Iva S — Google review
If I could give 10 stars I would! I always enjoy coming to Newstead and recently celebrated my birthday here. The staff is super welcoming and even gave me a complementary glass of sparkling wine for my birthday. Their wines are top notch and I would recommend this place to everyone - a definite must!
MEGAN D — Google review
Best lunch we had so far in greater Plett / the Crags. Had the Lamb Flatbread and the Chicken (perfect if you like it spicy) and both were excellent (good portion size, high quality ingredients, perfect taste and plating)
Samantha — Google review
Beautiful setting, but rushed wine tasting Newstead is absolutely stunning the scenery, the vibe, and the wines are all top-notch. It’s the kind of place where you’d love to spend an entire afternoon. Unfortunately, our wine tasting experience didn’t match the setting. Although we were told we "shouldn’t feel rushed," the wines were poured one after the other with very little pause or interaction. There was no real opportunity to savour each wine or hear more about them, which made the whole experience feel rushed and impersonal. We only came for the tasting without ordering food, and I’m not sure if that influenced the level of attention we received. I truly enjoyed the wines and the beauty of the farm, but I left feeling a bit disappointed by how the tasting was handled. With more thoughtful pacing and engagement even for wine only visitors the experience could be exceptional.

Hiking Trails
The Harkerville Kranshoek Viewpoint is a stunning location for hiking, offering a shorter route by going south on the west side and then taking the northward shortcut on the east. Although this shortcut can be challenging due to its steepness, overall it's not too difficult. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to try the exciting zipline, but it's definitely something to consider next time. The Garden Route is relatively easy to reach and surprisingly beautiful.
There's a SAN Parks fee to pay to get in, but if you have a Wildcard, you can go in without paying. Views are amazing, short hiking paths. Toilet facilities at certain places.
Hilton J — Google review
Unparalleled sea, rock and coastline views combined with a short forest area and zipline adrenalin junkies. The 9.2km coastal trail walk should not be tackled by those not familiar with clammering over rocks. Spoilt by faded signage along the coast and plastic waste washed up.
Geoff P — Google review
The views are absolutely gorgeous, but it doesn't make this dangerous walk worth it. The trail is badly marked and uneven terrain makes it rather unsafe. This is not a hike, for almost half of the distance it's a challenging scramble along the side of a mountain.
Ainsley W — Google review
A spectacular viewpoint, though we didn't walk far due to high winds making it almost impossible to stand up. You need a vehicle with good clearance to get down the track and have to pay entrance fees at the national park gate a few kms back. Note that it's one-way from the picnic site: take the left fork there and you loop back by the edge of the valley.
Jake R — Google review
Majestic views of the rugged coastline. If you just come for the view and picnic it’s worth it. If you have time for one of the many hikes or walks around the area even better. 🌅

Shah N — Google review
What a beautiful view! I look forward to my hiking friends visiting so we can do this hike. There’s no signal out there so I won’t attempt this on my own. But at least I got to enjoy the view with some hike coffee.
Tania — Google review
The Kranshoek Viewpoint is one of the most breathtaking spots along South Africa’s famous Garden Route, offering dramatic coastal and forest views. Located in the Harkerville Forest between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, the viewpoint is part of the Kranshoek Hiking Trails, which range from easy walks to strenuous hikes. The 9-kilometer Kranshoek Coastal Trail is especially popular for its stunning cliffside paths, leading hikers through dense indigenous forests, down to rocky shorelines, and up steep inclines to panoramic vistas. For those seeking a shorter route, a 3.4-kilometer circular hike is available, still providing incredible views with a less intense trek.

The Timber Shed in Plettenberg Bay has a rich history dating back to August 1786 when it was built by Jan Jakob Jerling for the Dutch East India Company. Despite facing limited success and not surviving the First British Occupation in 1795, it remains a cornerstone of the town's history. Recently, plans have been unveiled by the Van Plettenberg Historical Society to revitalize this 238-year-old building into a vibrant hub for both locals and tourists.
A sense of age, very long and beautiful

It was nice, but it could use a bit of tidying up. There were huge piles of what looked like carpet tiles that had gotten wet and were rotting.
Bee T — Google review
In August 1786 the Dutch East India Company decreed erection of the Timber Shed for storage of timber prior to shipment by sea. Declared a national monument on 11th September, 1936

Robberg 5 Beach is a renowned blue flag beach in Plettenberg Bay, making it a popular destination along the Garden Route. The beach offers romantic strolls from the Robberg Peninsula to Beacon Island and provides opportunities for whale and dolphin sightings. With its golden sands, it's perfect for various activities like swimming, ball games, or simply relaxing. Lifeguards are present for safety, and visitors can also spot whales in the distance.
This beach is a gem! The golden sand is soft and inviting, and the water is shallow and perfect for wading. Plus, the waves are consistent and fun for body surfing. There are shower facilities and team of trained lifeguards on the lookout. Not sure about the Shark kit station, but there were few jellyfish in the water. Might have difficulty finding a spot to park.
Fardad — Google review
This stretch of coastline is fantastic! It's beautiful, the waters are a deep blue although quite cold, and the sand is soft and golden. The surrounding views are among the best you will find in Plett. They magnificent! The beach is expansive perfect for long walks, sunbathing and walking the dogs. It's popular with surfers too because of the swells.

Lovely little beach. Soft sand. Lots of broken shells though. Out of season it is VERY quiet. Don’t sit on the benches, they smell of urine.

Wild Waters Fun Park is a fantastic place to visit. The staff there are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. It's the perfect destination for a day of fun with family or friends, and I highly recommend checking it out.
We had a great time here with our kids. We brought our Cadac braai, which the staff there were very happy with. We were the last to leave, after a good 2 hour stay in the afternoon. Thanks for the fun!

If you need inspiration and fun... go support this socially aware business run by a single mother of 4. She renovated this place from dusk till dawn whilst still taking time and use her limited resources to cook and donate meals and love and caring to the homeless and destitute of Plett. May her business grow from strenght to strenght
