Where to eat: the 22 best restaurants in Angaston

We were here 3 years ago, seems they now trade on a reputation that is somewhat waning. Expensive and pretentious, a massive wine list featuring wines by the glass that are unknown but pricey. $23 for 2 spring rolls, very nice but seriously… Overall the food was good but that’s all, I’ve certainly had better for less.

Seriously the chef does not like a couple to share his $84 mystry surprise menu catered for 1 person. Total BS wine by bottle is overpriced $170. Staff appeared a bit stuck up condescending, by our casual appearance. I read about the Vietnamese lady who founded this joint. She would have been disappointed. Are you trying to rip off the rich. Or are you seriously trying to cater for those adventurous weather travellers. Seriously you've stuffed up placing couples on top of each other., when the restaurant is bare. I dont want to listen to the woes of their marriage. So annoying when the restaurant is very spacious, and dozens of empty spaces at 6pm.. What is that about? BTW the food is great looking but lacks seasoning and love. I am extremely dissatisfied as the price $ 179 included a beer 2 wines a shaired entree and duck and chicken main. BTW we had Thia food yesterday at Harndorf family cooks, a third of the price was delicious made with love, service was exceptional This restaurant is for the like for those people who look beautiful but r seriously fake. Do NOT go here .

Nice restaurant, the food was ok unfortunately, there wasn't a stand out dish that I could think of. The service was amazing however so that made up for the food.

Excellent service and food - each dish from the spring rolls, betal leaf with pork fillings (awesome), dumplings, pork + wine pairing was brilliant. Excellent wine selection as well

We had the chefs tasting menu , we decided to have th 6 courses with desert!! The food was lovely, after every course we couldn't stop talking about how good it had been!! Service was brilliant, staff were very friendly and attentive they even added a candle in the desert for my birthday which was a lovely touch! Highly recommend giving the chefs menu a try every course was delicious!

Excellent dinner. The service was superb and the food was delicious. Thank you. They even managed to get us a ride back to our accommodation because it seems the local taxi service are on strike. Oh and the wine list is extensive!

Our second time visiting didn't disappoint. Exceptional fresh food, great service and couldn't fault. Not sure about the bad reviews but I cannot speak highly enough of Fermentasian. Love it.

A lovely gem, had a family outing and they were kind enough to accommodate without a booking. The atmosphere is lovely and the food was very nice. The pumpkin dish had a lot of flavour with many textures from the creamy pumpkin to the crunch of the lentils making it a wonderful experience each bite.

Fantastic food, coffee, service, vibe! This place is great - highly recommend! We ordered the mushroom ragu on toast to share and the serving was very generous. Not only that, they split it into two plates without us having to ask which was a very nice touch. Coffee was perfect and the home-made baked goods on the counter - delicious and not too sweet. Venue is nice and waitstaff were helpful and friendly. Definitely will be back!

We have been coming to Vino Lokal regularly for the last 18 months. When I say regularly, I mean we're there four or five times a week with up to 6 guests a day. Out of the hundreds of guests we've brought in, there has been nothing but amazing glowing feedback from all. We often hear guests say "That was the best meal we've had in Australia so far!". Too right. The team at Vino knows food and hospitality. Whether it's the chili egg scramble for breakfast, the chicken salad for lunch, or braised lamb for dinner - the food is always super fresh and expertly prepared. If you're in the area, don't think twice to drop into Vino's for a specialty coffee, a quick bite, long lunch, or a glass of wine. You will not leave disappointed.

We seriously loved the vibe of the place. Food was fabulous too. We just ordered scrambled eggs and toast and it was delicious. Looking forward to returning. Sourdough is phenomenal!

We had such a nice time when we had our brunch at Vino Lokal, a quint little spot, very busy and very popular, book in advance. The food was excellent, the service too especially Florence 😉 ! We had BLT and other goodies, all delish, the coffee was excellent and the orange and almond cake with clotted cream was a highlight !

Food here is very good. Our server, Kate, was knowledgeable and capable. We had a series of plates that were all well-executed. The tuna was exceptional. The kitchen made two mistakes with gluten. (I’m celiac.) if we hadn’t been here before, I’d be more negative; however, this is an excellent restaurant and management was both apologetic and correcting the issues. (Stuff happens.) A big “thank you” to Kate! If you want exceptional food in the Barossa, Vintners should be on your list. We will be back.

We visited Vintners for dinner, and were really impressed with the food, however the a couple courses took quite a while to come out of the kitchen which was a bit disappointing. All of our small plates were exceptional, I ordered the tuna tartar. The mains were very nice except for the whiting fish which we didn't love. Overall, worth the price and a fantastic choice for a nice dinner in the Barossa valley. The gardens are beautiful and a really lovely setting.

Amazing venue and a great way to top off a day in the Barossa. The BYO option is very generous and the food is to die for. Highly recommend the quail, the crab pasta and the confit duck. Fantastic service and a great atmosphere with a spacious dining area and indoor open fire. So many great options you’ll definitely want to share!

Highly recommend the snapper tartare and smoked tuna entrees! The duck and scotch fillet were both cooked to perfection.

The venue is lovely ! The service had no heart and charging top dollar for food. Happy to ask about more wine but no attention to topping up water! The sides $14 for hot chips where is the class !! roasted potatoes with garlic and sea salt would be a better match to the price point! Food was ok and happy with the serves ! Just a shame no heart in the place. Our waitress Jess did do a great job though but she was over worked ! No time for extra care!

We decided to try Vintners Bar & Grill, within walking distance from our hotel so that my partner and I could drink more wine. It turned out that the food we had were amazingly delicious - all dishes were well executed except for the passionfruit souffle. I personally don't think passionfruit was a good pairing with souffle, but the ice-cream & coconut crumble was spot on. Overall, excellent service, great food & wine menu selections, cosy and beautiful ambience. We truly enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be back again.

A stand out Barossa favourite - and for good reason! Have visited this beautiful cellar door many times, and it never disappoints. Hands down the best Cellar Door in Tanunda, perhaps even the whole Barossa. Really super friendly cellar door staff who knew their stuff but not spouting over the top descriptions of the wine. Nice tasting sizes and hurray No tasting charges! The open fire was warm and so inviting. Keep up the great work Langmeil!

This was one of the highlights of our trip to South Australia. Such a stunning winery with a relaxed and cosy vibe. We were able to enjoy our complimentary wines outside on the benches while admiring the rustic farmstead. The service was impeccable and the facilities like the toilets were also very clean. Can't wait to visit again and take some more bottles home with us. 😄

Langmeil winery is simply excellent. We couldn’t recommend this winery more! Great historic winery, beautiful garden and cosy wine cellar with a fire pit. Large wine selection, excellent variety of reds (our favourites)! Bec was bubbly and very knowledgeable about each wine and the history of the vineyard. Unfortunately i didn’t take photos apart from one as I was too busy enjoying the experience. The cellar might offer food platters on weekends. Highly recommended!

A pleasant restored heritage area leads you to a charming cellar door. Experienced staff will prepare a complementary wine tasting from their offered range. Grapes are sourced from their own vineyards or elsewhere in the Barossa. Provenance can be tasted. I believe wine club members get free delivery on box orders. What a great incentive.

Thank you to Bec who looked after us with tasting and the staff. We arrived 30 mins b4 closing time. They made us very welcome. Didn’t rush us out the door at all and I think it culminated in a nice big last minute sale for them. The red wines we tasted were SENSATIONAL!! Best of the entire wine tasting day. Had a really nice tasting today. The staff couldn’t be more accommodating. We tasted some really good wines. If you’re in the area we highly recommend you stop in you won’t be disappointed. End up spending $300.00 that speaks for itself. Enjoy!

We were served this ‘fresh chicken’ that looked like scraps and the fatty leftovers. After bringing this to their attention we were asked to pay for a replacement and the manager said “that’s just how it comes” with no apology or any accountability for this disgusting looking ‘chicken’. Absolutely terrible customer service and food quality. Do better

Pretzels ARE as good as they say, quite possibly the best pretzel I've eaten. Great range of items, friendly staff and I enjoyed my chunky steak pie and pizza scroll. 5/5 from me but wifey took a point off as didn't quite enjoy her steak and mushroom pie

Well presented and abundant food to choose from in the shop. Unfortunately, I chose the Pepper Steak Pie. When I opened the bag I thought they had given me a “lasagne slice”. It sure didn’t look like a pie 🥧 It was flat and rectangular. Well anyway, the first bite revealed a sloppy gravy filing that had no substance and minimal evidence of steak. Please see my pictures, it’s true!

Such a busy place with a long line. Service was friendly and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. Unfortunately the pies were sloppy, gravy filled with minimal meat/steak. The steak and mushroom had a few peices of mushroom.The chocolate eclairs weren't great neither.

We are a traveling family and this is the best bakery we have come across since leaving home! The apple crumble don't was amazing, the rolls were delicious and fresh and the pizza scroll was great too. Tasty iced coffee and good customer service on a very busy morning. Thanks for starting out next leg of the trip on a good note.

The food and venue were amazing - definitely recommend! There's a huge selection of Gins, Whiskeys, Champagne, and Wines to choose from. We ordered the FIVE DISH MENU at $65 per person (arancini, dumplings, oysters, scallops, and fettuccine). Serving sizes are adjusted based on the number of people - there were two of us, and we were happy with the portions. The dishes are also staggered, so you don't get everything at once, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience.

Absolutely loved our meal here. Unbelievable selection of gins and a very tasty menu. Myself and my wife had 5 generously portioned tapas dishes and were very full! Standouts for me were the pork belly, steak and scallops. Service was fantastic.

Awesome spot with amazing staff. As soon as I walked in the door I was sat at a table and explained to the menu's of drinks (Wine, Cocktails and Gin). Happened to be there for happy hour and was treated to a myriad of SA gins. Indulged in the Duck pâté with the house sourdough and it was sensational, delicious fresh bread. Overall a great spot for a solo traveller or a bug group of friends and anything in between.

Fantastic evening at Bar:Musque. The service was outstanding and they were so kind to our kids (who were quite tired from a long road trip). Food was excellent. The oysters were fresh, great sourdough, amazing burrata and their gin selection is unmatched. We can't wait to be back!

Beautiful food, good drinks, great service! We did the 5 dish menu at $65 PP - Scallop, crumbed whiting, fettuccine (prawn), scotch fillet and spiced pumpkin labneh. All the dishes were beautiful and flavourful. The spiced pumpkin was our least favourite and wouldn’t order again, but otherwise, everything was gorgeous.

Just had the loveliest afternoon at Whistler! We were served by the lovely Toni, who provided sparkling, thoughtful customer service, and took the time to get to know us. 10/10 service, we'll be back for that alone! We had a delicious self-guided tasting, and couldn't find a wine we didn't love. Plus, it's such beautiful, secluded location - gorgeous lawns and plenty of space for the kids to play (not that I brought any!),

Had a lovely afternoon here at Whistler. The wines and picnic were delicious, the staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable. Our children had a great time playing and exploring, especially enjoying the treasure hunt. Beautiful grounds too! Well worth a visit!

We had a wine tasting. The lady serving was very friendly and shared lots of knowledge about the wines. Quite an interesting place to visit. Relaxed atmosphere.

This is a nice little family owned winery, a must visit when you are travelling with children! Something I was surprised with, is that the toilets were very clean and equipped with a baby change table and shower! Also, They have their own playground and heaps of outdoor space for children to play. The wine list is extensive for a small winery, and make your own cheese platter was yummy!

Very lovely little Winery with a lovely team who are s friendly and nice. We had a wine tasting here and Cheese Platter. We were that impressed with 2021 Estate Cab Sav that we bought a bottle to enjoy after the tasting. Highly recommend dropping in if you're around the Barossa area.

What a gem! We came in for takeaway coffees. We ended up staying to try the most amazing range of freshly-made muffins I’ve ever seen in one place. We can vouch for the Blueberry, Lemon Curd & Meringue and the Mango, Passionfruit & Chocolate - both delicious! But there’s also Raspberry & Pear, Banana & Chocolate, one with Mandarin, and I think Cherry Ripe and/or Turkish Delight. (It was impossible to take it all in!) The coffee was excellent as well. And friendly service to top it all off. Fabulous!

Mrs and I just had breakfast here and couldn't be happier! Staff were super friendly, food was delicious and they were even happy to point out a few spots to check out while we are in town. 100% would recommend!

Muffins are heavenly! I tried the apple muffin with blueberries and grapes on top and it was divine! Service was great, plenty of choices for coffees and pastries. Lots of seating too!

Best brekkie we had while visiting Tanunda. Brekky sandwich was next level, packed with flavour. Daily fresh made muffins,, quickest and a succinct menu that is designed for takeaway if you need. Quality ingredients, food clearly made with love. Coffee was excellent too.

Five Stars for Char Barossa! We caught up with three friends for a Saturday night dinner at The Char last week, and we’re still talking about how great the experience was—so it’s only right to leave a review. We had a last-minute change to our reservation, and the staff handled it effortlessly, quickly resetting a table to accommodate our larger group. Their professionalism and warm welcome really set the tone for the evening. The drink list was excellent, and we appreciated being able to do BYO as well. Service was spot on—attentive without being intrusive. Our glasses were always topped up at just the right time, and everything flowed seamlessly. We started with three entrées to share: dumplings, charred octopus, and twice-cooked pork belly. Yum, yum, yum—what a way to kick things off! For mains, my husband and I shared the herb-crusted lamb rack and the tea-smoked duck breast. Both were absolutely delicious—cooked perfectly and full of flavour. We finished with the dessert tasting plate, which was a delightful way to end an already incredible meal. From the service to the food, everything was top-notch. Highly recommend for a relaxed but high-quality dining experience in the Barossa!

We got two takeaway wagyu beef burgers at $22 each with chips and omg, they were incredible. Fresh with nice thick brioche buns that didn't fall apart. The burgers had fresh, flavourful ingredients and were juicy (not oily!). We received a generous amount of nicely seasoned French fries. This was our first time visiting char, but will definitely be going back anytime we crave a burger. My picture didn't do it justice

Had the prime fillet medium and the 12 hour slow cooked ribs - both were juicy and cooked to perfection. Their side juice and caramelised onions added flavor. Their kids menu was great too - chat steak for the kids was a first - maybe more sauce or dip for the kids. Good wine selection - but that’s a given in Barossa

We had the platter for two. It was reasonable value and all the meat was good. I think the plate should have been warm as it got cold quickly and I would have rated one of the beef’s as “blue” so slightly undercooked in my opinion. We also had the flavoured focaccia which was nice. The wine by the glass was excellent however.

We visited Char Barossa late in the evening after a long drive from Victor Harbor, and it was exactly what we needed. The space was warm and welcoming, with friendly service that made us feel right at home. We started with the arancini—crispy, creamy, and full of flavor—then enjoyed perfectly cooked steak and pillowy gnocchi. We paired everything with a local Riesling, a crisp Pinot Grigio, and a light Barossa Grenache that was beautifully balanced. It’s also very kid-friendly, which made the whole experience even more relaxing. A perfect end to a long, action packed day.

Went to this restaurant twice when we were holidaying in Barossa. My wife had the best smoke duck, so flavoursome. I had the Mayura station wagyu beef, was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend you to visit this restaurant when you are in Barossa

Had a fantastic time at Casa Carboni cooking class! Chef Matteo was warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience fun and hands-on. The food was absolutely delicious and we learnt a lot. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend the cooking class! Our experience has been so good, we've done two classes with Matteo. He's a great teacher who wants you to learn and have fun cooking something simple and delicious. They send the recipes you cooked afterwards and are more than happy to answer any questions after the class. Hot tip: limit yourself to a small portion of gnocchi so you can enjoy dessert! Had the pleasure of attending one of Matteo’s outstanding cooking classes in August. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and even started the day with a coffee of my choice. The first part of the class focused on preparing four delicious dishes, guided step by step by Matteo. The second part was the best reward sitting down to enjoy the wonderful dishes we had just created together. A fantastic experience that I’d highly recommend to anyone who loves good food and hands-on learning! Antipasto: Calcioni little pastry envelopes filled with spiced fresh ricotta. Fresh Pasta: Vincisgrassi - Le Marche version of lasagne with a delicious ragu. Gnocchi: Ricotta gnocchi, made with swiss chard and Pecorino cheese, served with Butter and fresh Sage. Dolce: Salame di cioccolato, the perfect end to a long lunch with coffee.

We arrived here for a birthday after a few wineries. I can’t understand why this little enoteca is not pieno pieno - maybe because it doesn’t have a pastel painted shed to take a photo infront of. Comprehending the nuances of why it’s not heaving with people is not the point of this review. Matteo era bravissimo - il cibo (the food) il vino (the wine..Barolo of course) superb. The agnolotti filled with ricotta and ortichi (nettle) was sublime - so much so that we ordered a second serve. Simple food, locally sourced ingredients well executed. Torniamo subito

Beautiful morning turning into lunch! So much fun and such a great set up! We did a cooking class and enjoyed our 4 courses for lunch at the end with some beautiful wine! Would absolutely recommend doing a cooking class, can't wait to make some gnocci at home

Easily the best coffee in the Barossa. Fiona and Mateo are so friendly and we loved our cooking masterclass - can't wait to try cooking the dish at home. If you get a chance try the homemade chocolate bonboloni!

Definitely worth the visit. The large (understatement😂) cappuccino 10/10 and the hot chocolate, delicious 🤤 We both had French toast with bacon and it was truly the best. The staff are so friendly and inviting, which is rare these days. Thank you for a fantastic experience and breakfast. 🥞

Fantastic service, amazing food, great atmosphere. My wife and I had eggs with additions for brunch . Amazing free range eggs, Fantastic bacon for me and salmon for my wife. House made hash browns were amazing. Perfect tomato's, and perfect mushrooms. Bread was localy mad and amazing. They cater for many dietary needs. Fantastic coffee, i had a cappuccino my wife had flat white. Great fruit juice Very nice and friendly staff. We will definitely return and recommend to family and friends.

Genuinely one of the very best cafes in the Barossa. Needless to say, the Barossa has notoriously high standards for their businesses and the Hive ticks all the boxes. The staff here are extremely friendly and welcoming - by far the highlight of the place. Well managed and always met with a smile by the baristas. Staff make or break a business. They have the best coffee and cakes in Angaston and I hear their meals are delicious too. The location is great with a good view of the main street and makes for a perfect hub to meet friends or take a break from your road trip. The Hive is often busy and for good reason - though a little too busy for myself and its difficult at times to not feel in the way when waiting for takeaway. Though, this point is negligible and likely wont bother most other people. If you're in the Barossa, don't skip Angaston - if you're in Angaston, dont skip The Hive cafe!

Quaint spot and nice authentic Vietnamese according to my partner who loved her Pho. Our entrees were very nice and wehighly recommend having some. My steak was cooked well but a little sinewy which made it difficult to eat with chop sticks. Hence the lower than five stars. The desserts were lovely, small but we felt the right size.

Barossa Pho is quickly becoming my new regular, it’s always an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious as always, each dish was bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The ambiance is perfect the restaurant has a nice, chill vibe that makes it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a meal. Barossa Pho is excellent! Absolutely wonderful food and superb service. Such friendly staff too. My wife has a vegan diet with an onion intolerance and they catered for her superbly. We had the feed me menu and it was impeccable! The restaurant was warm, on a very cold winter's night. Thank you!

Such a gem of a find in Angaston on a Thursday night. Great food, wine and service. Portion sizes were generous and well priced. Outside dining was perfect for a March evening with lovely ambience. The Pho is an absolute must and definitely won’t disappoint!

Fresh delicious food. Also for children a set menu at a good price. White paper covers awesome to keep kids entertained. Staff were so helpful even took 2 grandaughters out to there garden to pick flowers for the desert . So accommodating, good wine selection. Clean & lovely views inside & outside seating ... Fantastic experience! The menu is succinct but packed with delicious Vietnamese options. I loved the wagyu beef and salad—they were both incredibly tasty. The lime brûlée was perfect, a real standout. The pho was especially impressive: full-bodied, clean flavors, high-quality ingredients, and no MSG. Just amazing overall. Highly recommend! Duk and Duckling were absolutely amazing.. The food was next level sensational… Do yourself a favour and make sure you eat at Barrossa Pho when in town.. Dont judge a book by its cover.. when your inside it absolutely lovely.

We ended our day on the bikes here after returning them and enjoyed a couple of classes seated on the street chatting to nearby tables, the wine was good and lovely service, really happy they stayed open past 5pm for a while to feed us wine 🍷

I have had 2 fantastic tasting experiences at the new cellar door and have worked my way through all the wines which are all top quality. The place is run by the family so you get to meet the people behind the wine and the winemaker himself personally shucked the fresh oysters to go with my Eden Valley Riesling. It was perfect! 👌 Friendly and relaxed environment And tasting experience, located centrally in Tanunda, and you seriously feel like you are part of the family. I definitely recommend it and will be going back and taking friends and family there. Good job Angus and Sam! 🙌😊❤️🍷

If we could give more stars we would!! Brothers at War cellar door was recommended to us by a local friend. We called the day prior and booked and was met with the warmest of welcomes, Sanna made our tasting and experience incredible! We enjoyed our experience for over 2 hours, working our way through the tastings whilst enjoying a delicious local platter. We signed up to the wine club, made a few additional purchases and will be leaving the Barossa to head home telling everyone we can to make a visit to Brothers at War whilst their in the Barossa.

Great experience at Brothers at War! Extremely welcoming. Hugh was very down to earth and chatty, but absolutely knew the wines and had great knowledge of the Barossa and Eden Valley.. Great spot for lighter reds and beautiful Eden Valley whites. They also offer gourmet platters, but make sure you taste the wines. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended👍

Jeremy was a great host being able to walk us through a broad variety of wines and made some great suggestions. We we with friends from out of town and this rounded off showing them around our part of the world before dinner, being centrally located in town. We sat under a nice tree out the back which was gorgeous in the nice weather. We enjoyed all of the wines as well!

A light and bright cafe with a broad menu of breakfast and lunch options. Making a decision of what to have was a challenge. The portions are great, food is well presented and tasty, and the prices represent great value. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Delicious cafe with tasty, classic brekkie meals. We got the avo toast and the brekkie burger, which were both well made and delicious! Highly recommend the avo toast! Very generous on the avo but balanced out with the dukkah, whipped feta and the pickles so felt very light and refreshing! The tea was also lovely and had a generous serving size! Would definitely come back next time we're in town!

I pop into this lovely business most mornings & you are always greeted with a smile & hello. Not once have I had anything I didnt like. The food is soo tasty & packed with flavour. Definitely worth the stop 😊

Sunday morning walked in. Table in front window. Chilled vibes, lovely service and the BEST big breakfast my husband and I have ever had-I had to tell the chef personally I was so impressed. Coffee good, prices reasonable and lovely selection of pastries and cakes if you're in the mood. Highly recommend!

If your looking for a tastefully decorated place to eat with a laid back feel in or around Angaston COCO is up there ! Gently alternate menu from the traditional Cafe but very tasty and generous with great coffee. Service was excellent, the staff friendly and professional the conveniences were clean and well maintained. Definitely worth a look and we will return for sure, thankyou !

Wanera Wine Bar and Restaurant became our favourite place. My partner Paul and I, absolutely can't fault this wonderful establishment at all. It has everything you'd want in a Restaurant and so much more. It was a pleasure to talk with all the Chef after our meals. As you can see we frequently dined here. A big thank you to the staff for making my birthday extra special. Looking forward to returning again 😊

We went to Wanera for breakfast and I ordered the granola. It was way too sweet for me but my husband liked it. He ordered the big breakfast and raved about how good it was. The coffee was good. Service wasn't particularly friendly. Nice venue. The courtyard looks lovely.

Family, friends, and I booked a table for a birthday dinner here recently. While the food was nice, the service and hospitality were extremely poor. After waiting around 40 minutes, only three meals were served, and the rest of the meals were completely forgotten until we went to the bar to ask about them. When we brought out a birthday cake, staff were noticeably unhappy when we requested plates and spoons so we could actually enjoy it. This lack of attentiveness and attitude from the staff turned what should have been a special celebration into a very frustrating experience.

Had wedding out the back in the barn earlier this year in April food was fantastic service definitely was on par with wedding service. Eaten here several times before when not busy can be a little slow but happy with everything else

Really nice outdoor seating -kid friendly. Belly pork was the standout for us. Stunning dish. The chicken laska was very tasty, with a lovely building heat to it. Duck spring rolls and garlic bread was a good starter too. The passionfruit mocktail was delicious too.

Christmas Lunch 2022 was not the nicest chriisy lunch. I would give it 3 1/2 stars this year. I d rung in advance and was told there was a vegan and veggo menu as i have friends who do not eat meat. It sounded good on the phone but the 1 choice and the entree offered did not impress my vegie friends. Sadly us omnivores were not too happy either with the entree selection was dry and tasteless and the 1 small prawn on a stick looked lacking so the meal started on a downer. The main , we all had different choices was good. Bob had salmon, my hubby the Kangaroo which he said was cooked to perfection and I had pork belly which was tasty the seperate served veg not so great came out cold. The deserts were nice but no wow factor like the previous chrissy. The main meal for the veg friends was like a barley risotto but flavorless and did not smell good at all not worth the $100. Per meal price for them. The service was not as good either ,, not happy staff this year they were put out when we asked about the veggie menu and never seemed interested after that which was sad after our other Wanera experiences being so nice. Finally I know its a wine bar but the wine selection needs to cater for all budgets a cheap and cheerful bottle of each variety means everyone may enjoy a wine. So last christmas 2021 was great and i gave 5 stars an amazing christmas lunch. Tasty food including a lovely entree and dessert shared selection. Main courses yummy and good selection of aldentee vegies. Polite and cheerful waiting staff and just a lovely laid back lunch. No long waits between courses either which is amazing as just lately resturants seem to take forever to get each course to table. We plan to make this venue our go too date night treat. Thank you Wanera a lovely lunch. And the Cocktails were fab too. 🎄🍾⭐️

What a little gem! We loved the atmosphere and friendliness of the team. We very much enjoyed a delicious dinner (dips then steak) finely prepared with unique yet balanced flavours. Highly recommend.

First visit to the 40s Diner, super friendly staff, great service, great menu choices. We made the mistake of ordering a schnitzel each, they are absolutely HUGE!!!! And cooked to PERFECTION,, tender & juicy all the way through & no burnt bits. Highly recommend grabbing the family & friends & heading on down to the 40s diner. . . And take away boxes for what you can't eat. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great meal !

Food was amazingggg. There was nobody else dining so a bit bland atmosphere. Pizza is super full of toppings and good size and price.. 1000% better than other local pizza I’ve had. We also had the pasta and waffle fries. Generous servings and very fresh homemade tasting meal.

It’s great to see the 40’s Cafe back with new owners doing a fantastic job. We had 2 small pizzas, a Smokey and a Publican Special and both were fabulous with a lot of toppings, great flavour and no soggy bottom. Yay! Staff were very friendly and professional and offer a byo option. We will be back and everyone else should too.

Fabulous pizzas! 40's cafe has been reborn with new owners who are doing a fantastic job at making the best pizzas we have had since the original owner of this cafe left a few years ago. The pizzas had lots of toppings which went right to the edge of the base, a great flavour and the base was nice and crisp but not hard. The slices didn't droop when picked up! Locals and visitors alike should definitely give this cafe a go. We will certainly be back.

The serving of the pizza was extremely generous and great in value. It was really meaty and wasn't too filling. The pasta was really good and the staff was friendly. The waffle fries were fresh and crispy. Would definitely come back and would recommend to others. xx

Pizzas were the best! Full of toppings and flavour! Flavour of the pesto chicken was lovely but needed more potato wedges and veg. Staff friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

I am from city ways in Adelaide, it was my first time trying here with my partner and friend and I have to say it was the best food I’ve ever had. I normally don’t like trying new things but I’m glad I did. The food and service was amazing that I had to leave a review, definitely coming back!

Two visits to Barossa Siam, both occasions without fault or failure. The dining room is welcoming and beautifully set with fine crystalware and quality napkins. The food is out of this world and a true treat in the Barossa. Chris's service is professional and thorough albeit not overly friendly nor too fussy. This isn't cheap Thai cuisine but it is value for money end to end. Pad See Mow Talay highly recommended. Thankyou.

Food was fabulous. Chicken satays, portions were generous sauce was delicious. Seafood was perfectly cooked sauce and veg spicy yummy. Pork belly had crunch and the meat was melt in the mouth. The server did smell of smoke but was polite and didn’t stay close for long. Would visit again and highly recommend

The service was friendly, and the meal was fresh and delightful. Entrees were quick to arrive and we were able to order 4 pieces instead of the usual 3 so we we could share more evenly. Crispy pork belly and crunchy greens in a super tasty stock. I enjoyed what I couldn't finish the next day. Ask for a container!

Unfortunately I can't give a good review for our experience. The shining light however for the evening was our wonderful waitress, who really was great. The meat was tough and hard to eat, but the sauce was delicious all the same. The entree of satays was delicious and the best part of the meal. The male owner of the restaurant who served us had no people skills what so ever and smelled of cigarette smoke, which I found unpleasant when he leaned over me. He dumped drinks down hard on the table, pushed my friend's phone roughly out of the way to fling a drink in front of her and totally missed both my husband and I when we asked for something. I like to support local business, but unfortunately we won't be back.

Had a very delicious lunch , lovely service and fresh food cooked with care. Absolutely loved the pork belly and the dumplings with plum sauce. nice selection of good Barossa wines, my only complaint is I ate way too much it just tasted to nice to leave anything on the plates

dropped in for lunch on the last Saturday of October 2023 celebrating wonderful weather and travel companions with a glass of delicious Riesling and some ‘healthier’ green food. Love the grilled broccoli salad. i could eat 2 bowls of that with the riesling and maybe the chardonnay(?). lol. next time. Finally, thank you to our hospitable host/wait staff. She was patient and happy to adjust my wine order to suit the meal.

Great staff and great environment but iam sorry, Wood oven pizzas were truly dissapointing. Sized way to small basically the size of entre garlic bread. Menu suggests amazing pizza but underwhelming to say the least. Wouldn't come back for food only a beer.

Magnificent Barossa restaurant & cellar door. A, somewhat, upscale restaurant with general pricing to match. However, so is the quality. Excellent meals served by very friendly staff. Inside can get a little noisy when full or nearly so. Concrete floors will always have that effect of amplifying noise. There is outside seating for fine days if you'd prefer. You have the bonus of a cellar door & high quality gift shop. There is a actual cellar to wonder through, incorporated in the same building, with some historical photos etc. Many huge & very old wine barrels.

Recommend the shared platter most enjoyable and substantial. Our service was fantastic by Morgan, prompt, friendly, and professional.

Food was tasty, easy to find and wait staff friendly. Not all wait staff were up to speed but were always able to try and help. A few dishes could have had more on the plate but generally quite good overall. Coffee and wine was good, not disappointed.

Food was ok, but there was no steak or pizza as per their menu when I booked, as they changed the menu after I booked. Now they only have a couple of lighter options for the winter.

This is a top little cafe located on the main road of Angaston. Great atmosphere and excellent service. Food and drink are freshly prepared and delicious. We ordered a chocolate-banana smoothy, Cappuccino, a plate of three small pancakes with yummy jam and lamington. It has a wonderful kids play area. Perfect for adults to chill out keeping a watchful eye on their children playing happily with the available toys. Worth visiting if you are in the Barossa region.

We chose Nosh Angaston as they offered pancakes which our 4yo requested. The food arrived quick and was delicious. Staff were very friendly and accommodating of the kids. Daughter got pancakes with maple syrup instead of jam on the kids menu. There were three pancake options for adults.

Love this little quirky family run cafe! Had a smashed avocado today for the first time and enjoyed it soo much! 🥑Loved the feta and also the little fried cherry tomatoes on the side. My partner had turmeric eggs on rye bread and he loved them too. We are both vegetarians so to find a place that cater good inspired real food for us is great! 👏🏻 Keep up the good work, guys!

The big breakky does not disappoint. At 3pm I am still full! The food was not only delicious, but quick! The coffee was delightful and the service from the very moment I walked in was welcoming! Reasonable price, fantastic experience! Well done!

Lovely service and very nice breakfast. Enjoyed the Breakfast special of Pumpkin fritters and Poached eggs, and a standard fried eggs on Sour Dough. The serving size was very generous.

Quite a find on the edge of Angaston well away from the main street in a very picturesque setting overlooking vineyards. We wouldn't have tried it other than finding positive reviews plus the recommendation of some locals. What resulted was a very relaxed and enjoyable breakfast served by welcoming and chatty staff / owner. Great food and coffee. Beautifully presented arts, crafts, food, soaps etc available for purchase.

A cool, wet winter's day took us to this restaurant for brunch. What a find tucked out back of Anguston. The staff were wonderful, taking the time to discuss the local ingredients used in the meals. Warm, inviting dining inside, outdoors weather permitting. The food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. There was a local produce store inside with crafts too. While we did not wait for a table it is normally best to book. Coffee and cake to go and what a visit.

We came here for lunch through the week. I expect that it would be wise to make a booking on weekends. Ample parking. Wheelchair accessible. Excellent range on the menu. Good range of wines and beers. Great coffee and cakes. I had lamb shanks - these were absolutely delicious. Grannie's Scotch fillet was perfectly medium rare, tender, and almost her own size (she did share). Very reasonably priced.

Called in today, without a booking. No prob, we were told there might be a wait on meals as they were busier than expecting to be. There wasn't given the number of large tables being served. The three front of house staff were great, attentive and professional. When settling the bill the staff member apologised for the delay. Again, there wasn't any. Just fantastic, over hearing conversations staff where having, they were on the ball, recognising share meals and getting extra plates. Asking people if meals were OK, and if there people wanted anything else. We have been here a few times over the years, including big birthdays. Always nice food, and great service. Today all walk in where greeted and sat in a timely happy manner. Would we come back, 100%. Thanks gang..

The food is fantastic it's prices are in the low $20 and upwards, the atmosphere is relaxing. I would recommend it to everyone who loves good food. I also noticed some Ladies sitting outside with 2 well behaved dogs enjoying a meal, there is also outside dining on the verandah if I could give it More than 5 stars it would be 100%. I don't have any photos of the place but I'm sure someone may have. 👍🎉

Purchased take away last night worst Chinese food ever. Chow mein had 1 prawn 1 piece of beef and one piece of chicken. Fried rice was tasteless. Certainly won’t be having any more food from here .

Friendly service. A good selection of food items on the menu. Take away available. Although I thought my honeyed chicken was too sickly sweet for my tastes, the beef satay was superb.

This was our second visit here & we’ve been quite impressed both times. The food this most recent time was simply delicious, being fresh & tasty with good efficient service & staff being polite but not overly friendly. The building itself is old with the attempt at being a Chinese restaurant by its decor not really doing it but its food on the night we were there was the big winner. We’ll go back again at some stage.

Disappointed! Spent over $100 for food worse than a food court Chinese buffet. The meat was dry with little to no meat inside the excessive amount of batter with little to no sauce for any relief. The amount of onion and cauliflower in the dishes was extremely excessive. Unfortunately the reviews do not reflect the quality of the food at all. Will not return!

Great selection of your favourite Chinese takeaway foods. The Satay is very peanutty, the honey chicken is sweet & sticky with a satisfying crunch, and everything is just delicious. The only problem is restraining yourself when ordering! It's my favourite Chinese takeaway in the Barossa.

Disappointed in the customer service when you walk through the door. The woman ( I've been there numerous times) is always quite rude and you get that vibe that you are disturbing her. Well sorry....I just want food without the attitude. Food is great but not real authentic flavours. (I lived in southern Vietnam for a couple of years so I know the food). Will continue to go there and support local businesses and hope that feedback like this improves the restaurant.
