The 25 best breakfast and brunch in Mackay

My husband, Hugh and I, were on the hunt for a solid brunch spot while visiting Mackay, and Woodman’s Axe popped up on our radar. It had good google reviews. We’re glad it did. There’s indoor seating if you want to escape the heat, but we managed to grab a table outside and enjoyed the morning sun with the hum of the street in the background — a lovely way to start the day. The place was pretty busy, which is always a good sign, but our meals came out reasonably quickly and everything was spot on. The coffee was a smooth and strong — just how we like it. There’s a nice buzz here. Relaxed but efficient. Great service, and it all feels very well run without being too try-hard. You get the sense this is a local favourite, and for good reason. If you’re in Mackay and looking for a brunch spot that delivers on both food and atmosphere, definitely give Woodman’s Axe a go. I don’t think you’ll leave disappointed — we certainly didn’t.

I came here looking for Gluten free, Dairy free and sugar free options as I have a lot of allergies and intolerances. The staff was very friendly, and my food was amazing considering the plain option I chose.

Woodie’s never fails to amaze with their amazing coffee, scrumptious food and incredible and friendly staff. We can’t thank Jason, Ally and staff enough for always providing a great experience everytime.

Woodmans Axe is my favourite stop for a morning coffee on my way to and from Bowen. Consistent coffee and absolutely magnificent every single time.

I've never been inspired to take to google to write a review before and especially not before i've even finished the food. Best tasting steak i've ever had. Eggs were soft fluffy and melted in my mouth. 1000/10 reccomend this place. Smiles all around, great vibes and amazing food!! My partner loved her french toast And the drinks were amazing too!!

What a joke. Every order wrong, needed a chainsaw to cut the toast. Slow service. Don't bother. Coffee was ok. Soft eggs??

Not a great place to go! We went here for Mother’s Day breakfast. The service was beyond terrible. Yelled at from across the restaurant where to sit because lazy staff couldn't walk over. Table filthy and it was never wiped (even thought we asked, then offered to do it ourselves). It took over an hour to get our food and they weren’t busy at all. Poor chefs hitting the ‘service’ bell 4,5 and 6 times for any of the staff to pick up the freshly cooked food. Manager would ask a staff member to do something and the staff would make fun of her behind her back, so unprofessional. There was also old food all over the floor and under our table. Stood at register to pay and no one served us, they just wandered past and made themselves look pretend busy.

Good breakfast, nice coffee but the toast was a little sad looking. Service was ok but the small things do count, like being provided cutlery to eat with without having to ask. Overall a good place to go when you feel like going out for breakfast or a light lunch. BTW... They do a great Lambs Fry!

Great food, had the vegetarian big breakfast. Very much enjoyed it . I have the app, so I save, every time we dine there.

21st August 2022 2/5 I have been to this coffee club countless times over the last few months and I've always had an excellent experience. Today however was the complete opposite. The customer service was shocking. I got the fable meaty mushroom flat grill, as always and it was awful. There was no mayo present which is listed on the menu, it was dry, the flat grill was barely filled and the fable meat itself was so flavourless. I also asked for avocado instead of the listed cherry tomato on the flat grill and I honestly shouldn't of bothered. There was miniscule amounts of smashed avocado. I went to one of the servers to mention that there was no mayo on my flat grill and I honestly feel sorry for her because the attitude the chef gave her when she asked for me was appalling. I ended up complaining to the chef myself (the lady with the red hair) and I received the same attitude. I complained that the meal was dry and it didn't have the mayo on it like the menu says. She ended up giving me a side dish of vegan mayo for it. The other two people I dined with had a similar experience. Both their flat grills were dry and underfilled. It seems like they had no effort in their meals today. I'm just disappointed because every other time I have dined here the flat grills have been saucy, loaded and flavourful. We went to pay for the meal and the lady at the counter was also rude. She didn't ask how our meals were and when we told her she didn't seem to care. She said the head chef made the flat grills today...I felt more shocked and disappointed knowing that. They were awful. This experience has seriously ruined what I thought of this place and I won't be returning. April 2022 5/5 I've been here twice in two weeks to get the limited edition Fable Meaty Mushroom Flat Grill as it is the only vegan option on the menu. I swapped out the tomato for avocado which was no additonal charge and I reckon I got half an avocado both times I ordered this! Incredible. The flat grill was loaded with mushroom meat and all the flavours were delicious!The side salad was a great accompaniment to this. I also had a chai latte which was the perfect drinking temperature when it got to the table!! I dined in today again and added chips and vegan mayo which I can highly recommend. The chips were super flavourful and perfectly cooked which paired very well with the vegan mayo and flat grill. Please make this a regular menu item! Great service with friendly and attentive staff.

Ordered breakfast and coffee. The food came and I'd finished it before the coffee came. Popped back later just to grab a quick takeaway coffee and was left waiting again. If a coffee place can't even make coffee quickly, there's a problem.

Really good service. Great tasting coffee. The casear salad was amazing, fresh ingredients, chicken was cooked to perfection, perfect amount of dressing and even came with anchovies. One of the best tasting salads I have had.

I ordered off Uber eats and was very disappointed after it arrived. The coffee frappe was just a bitter iced coffee (no milk) and tasted disgusting , not even close to what a frappe is. The big breakfast was delicious, but the packaging was leaking and even sogged through the bag I could barely lift the thing out of the bag because I thought it was going to fall apart. I love the food but the price is ridiculous and not worth it.

Gluten free bread, all day breakfast, QR codes on tables and dark roast coffee. There is a bathroom outside the shop but you need to use a key. Food came out quickly. Staff are friendly. The hash brown was very small and overcooked so it was crunchy and hollow inside. It crumbled away and I wouldn't say it was worth paying the extra to have it as a side. Scrambled eggs were very good though.

Brilliant and lovely staff, everyone is so welcoming and warm, you can come in and pretty much guarantee a smile will come to your face atleast once. I love waffles, the waffles here are a little different to what I’m used to, but I gave the Biscoff waffles a go, they look great! I just wanted more volume to the waffles and ice cream to match 😂 perhaps that’s just my preference, but that’s why I did 4 stars. Perfect otherwise!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I stopped in at 9th Lane Grind and ordered a coffee with the zucchini/corn fritters — both were excellent. The coffee was smooth and well-made, and the fritters were fresh, full of flavour, and nicely balanced. I added scrambled tofu on the side, which was a standout — soft, light, and with a subtle curry flavour that paired perfectly with the fritters. It made the meal feel even more satisfying while still being wholesome and healthy. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. Overall, it was a really enjoyable breakfast — I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend the zucchini/corn fritters with the scrambled tofu if you’re after something delicious and a little different!

Was extremely busy on both days I visited, but the (Grinders) coffee was good and correct temperature. I had a tonkatsu sandwich for lunch which was delicious and went back for breakfast and had Turkish eggs with haloumi - definitely very tasty. This cafe wasn’t here last time I was in Mackay, but I’m sure it will be successful as the food is delicious and multiple staff actually asked for feedback and genuinely seemed to care about customer experience! Well done!

As a coffee enthusiast, 9th Lane Grind quickly became my favourite cafe in Mackay. The coffee is on point, service is friendly and efficient, and the food is good. They also have plenty of take away salads, wraps and other yummy bites. I've tried just about everything and have been repeatedly impressed. Highly recommend this cafe 👌🏼

The calamari salad on the lunch menu is perfect. What a gem of a spot, outstanding innovation for our little regional town! You’re always my favourite treat spot when we head into town, thank you!

Food was okay but wouldn’t come back. We ordered yaw benne and waffles&fried chicken. The portions were big so that was good. Tables were untidy and compared to its location (street noise) prices were too high.

The food was over hyped on instagram compared to what I got in person. Food was average at best, I've had better quality eggs Benny's from the coffee club. No water for the table either which is a bit weird for macaky considering the heat most the year round. Food wasn't anything like the photos they put on there instagram, lacked any more of taste and a bit pricey for what it was.

Overpriced food and average service. Charged $10 for what would equate to maybe one scoop of hot chips. Asked the staff if it was an accident, as I was genuinely suprised. But no, no mistake. Most items are grossly overpriced. Wouldn’t recommend.

I think I had really hyped this place up, so I’m not sure it lived upto the hype in my head. This place has a really good menu, I do think I will come back and try it again but it was ok first time around. I got the waffles and chicken, it was all just a bit dry, could have done with a lot more sauce/hot honey or whatever it was, flavours were good though. A friend got the s’mores French toast - which was disguised under the name blueberry pancakes on the online menu hahaha, so she did think she was getting pancakes but the description did describe the s’mores. Anyway small issue, s’mores was good but extremely sweet so only recommend if you have a mad sweet tooth coz it’s a decent portion. I think I would also like to try the bake house I saw some good looking treats in there. Staff were lovely and service was good, will give another try I think.

Had a double cheeseburger with bacon .Good size ,bacon was spot on patties nice .Missis had the pork tacos ,delicious ! Day before I tried a brisket cheese and bacon pie .Again flavours were spot on , however the pastry on the bottom was well underdone won’t stop me coming back everyone has a miss now and then (I still ate it haha)and this place was s a breath of fresh air in the world of crumbed steak and parmi,s that is Mackay dining .

Honestly, Yaw was the best breakfast feeds I've had in Mackay. Not only were the staff incredibly friendly & accommodating but their food was delicious! I will rave about these guys to all my friends Photo is of the eggs Benny with added brisket & the Texan breakfast

Don't ask for a toasted sandwich. Ya won't get one. I asked if I could get a toasted tomato & cheese & avo sandwich 🥪 on gluten free (dietary requirements at the moment for medical reasons). Told no, i asked if they had the ingredients. Yes, can I have them in a sandwich yes. The pic is what I got. It was $23 for coffee and sandwich. And some reluctant service. There was 4 of us spending more than $100 on some take away coffee and food. Most of the food was OK, and make sure you read the menu they have "little" versions so be pacific they will change the higher price and normal size isn't big... My opinion is give this one a miss theres better friendly places to meet up and have a coffee. Shame this owner seems to live in fantasy world when it comes to customer service and patrons spending there hard earned cash. Maybe it was just me. 🤷‍♀️

Great breakfast options with a twist. Speedy service. Outstanding scrambled eggs! Have not found anywhere local this good. French toast was a hit for us. He loved his wrap soo much, I missed half of it for the shot.

Went to The Dispensary for breakfast and oh my goodness — the food was absolutely bloody amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The service was exceptional too — friendly, fast, and made the whole experience such a pleasure. Couldn’t fault a thing — highly recommend!

This is a cosy place with many different spots to find a place to relax. It is a high moving place with lots of customers dining in or grabbing takeaways. The staff a courteous and always trying to give you professional service. Thank you 🙏🏻🙂

The Dispensary is one of our new favourite places! We absolutely LOVE what they’ve done with the bar space, with the nod to the history of the building and the restaurant… oh my! Service is phenomenal! The food is big city quality (without the big city price tag)! The atmosphere is great and helped along by the fabulous staff, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there, largely because of the friendly and helpful staff. The food was absolutely divine too though! Highly recommend! Thanks team, we’ll be back again and again!

If you’re in Mackay and looking for that perfect brunch spot, The Dispensary is it! Trust me!! My husband, Hugh and I, got the hot tip from a local, and we’re so glad we listened. We went with Hugh’s brother, his wife, and their two little ones, and let me tell you, the service was top notch. Friendly, kind, accommodating, and just plain lovely. The food was absolutely spot on. Beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The vibe inside is also really chic without being over the top. I fell in love with the big round tables and I want one for my own home! We actually ended up going again the next day just for a coffee before heading out of town… and yep, ended up staying for breakfast too. That says it all. Great coffee, consistently good food, and warm service both times. You’ll leave full, happy, and probably planning your next visit before you’ve even finished your last bite. Thank you, Dispensary crew, you’ve won us over.

I liked eating at this restaurant. It was located very close to my hotel which is the Oaks. In fact it's connected to the hotel. I appreciated the customer service from the staff here. Everyone was very bright and nice and also very quick to service. I appreciated them. The food was also nice. I ordered the butter chicken and it was a nice dinner. The nan was cooked nicely and the chicken was also cooked well. That being said it was a little bit too bland for me. I wanted a little more spice and flavour from the dish. I realised that the menu said it was a mild spice. Still it felt incomplete even without the additional spice.

Despite being attached the Oaks, the staff here are wonderful. We had dinner and breakfast here, both great meals with lovely staff. It's a pretty casual place with a decent menu for options.

I have been here a few times pre Covid and it was always a safe bet. Tonight was just awful. I had the rack of American ribs. They had been pulled from a bag and wiped with BBQ sauce, they looked like boiled meat, the blood had formed and congealed to the shape of the bag. No effort had been made in the presentation, it looked like a dogs dinner. The sauce had no viscosity and just ran off in to a pool on the plate. They had made no attempt to render any of the fat (and there was a lot) or caramelise the sauce…..this was lazy cheffing at its best. I was not asked about my meal at any point. Saw the sign asking for review, and here I am, it was probably better this way as it would have been embarrassing for all if I had complained. My employer was paying, so I was not too concerned about value. But you need to know, do not waste your own money here.

This chef knows how to cook a steak ! I've just had 4 steaks in 4 nights. Marque served up the winner. Highly recommended and if you have the same experience as I did you will not be dissapointed.

Fantastic little cafe/restaurant that we stumbled on up at the Marina. Great range of food on the menu, friendly staff willing to accommodate to dietary needs and food came in good time. The pancakes I had we're light and fluffy and tasted great. My partner had a bacon sandwich (no photo taken) which was a little on the fatty side has prevented a full 5* rating for the food. Overall a very good venue in which we will definitely be returning.

We came last weekend and loved it! The service was quick, literally no wait even on the weekend. Cafe was clean and comfortable, plenty of space and tables. Food was fresh and so good, prices also great! I had a Mounties Breakfast and my partner had the Full Brekky. Hash browns were perfect! Also good portion sizes, and the lovely young man who brought our food over was so friendly and polite and a credit to the cafe/his family.

Taking one meal(a sandwich) out using one hand then going straight back in and bringing the next meal out (a pie) instead of simply bringing them both out at the same time is a bit pointless. Communication also wasn't the easiest. I used to love this place. The previous people were so friendly and switched on plus the food was really well priced

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mantra. It was exceptional experience from start to finish the steak in particular was absolutely outstanding. I ordered a rib fillet cooked medium rare. It was tender juice and full of rich flavour. The gravy was spot on enhancing the natural flavour each bite melted in my mouth, and I could tell it was high-quality meat. The service was equally impressive. From the moment I walked in. The staff made me feel welcome and insured had everything I needed. The staff were knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations for both wine and sides to complement the steak. The meal was perfect overall Mantra delivered and outstanding dinner experience with top-notch food ,definitely delivers highly recommended.

Such a beautiful place! The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, and the staff are all absolutely amazing. We’re a small family with young kids (all under 5), and they went out of their way to accommodate us. It’s not always easy dining out with little ones, but they made it a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone. Highly recommend! A nice cafe with plenty of tables, the staff were very friendly and eager to please. We had the Eggs Benedict with bacon unfortunately all the bacon was overcooked dry and crispy, the hot drinks were excellent.

Wow what a disappointment for wanting just a basic lunch, server tried to charge me $11 for a coffee I questioned no apology. I got a Club sandwich and coffee over $32 took almost 45 min and was really average the bread wasn’t toasted no flavour or sauce and so so basic. Not going to be in a hurry to return. The waitress was really sweet and tried her best.

This wasn’t my first visit. Last time I ordered the pancakes and they came out still frozen and stale, which was really disappointing. I gave it another try today and went with the BLAT and chips. The sandwich was just okay — the bacon was way too crispy, the Turkish bread was over-toasted, and there wasn’t enough sauce. The chips were tasty but a little too salty. Service was fine, but overall the food has been hit and miss. I’d come back if I was already nearby, but I wouldn’t go out of my way

Got a coffee there just before school pick up, for the price you would think it would be a nice coffee, nope waste of money, coffee was too hot and tasted like brunt milk, couldn’t even taste the coffee once it cooled enough to taste. Place has gone way down hill 👎

I get coffee here all the time, because it’s a great coffee everytime! The girls are always very friendly and their service is super quick. The owner is a lovely man, the business is a credit to him. I don’t eat here, so I can’t comment on that, but coffee is always perfect Thankyou!

Totally overcharged $12 kids egg on toast is now $14 but $12 on menu. I paid $21 for kids egg(no toast) $7 bacon from add on making the egg a eye watering $14. Will never go back they should not be allowed to charge more than the menu says. Their excuse was the prices are ging up in Oct. Well if that's so they should have new menus printed. Very un ethical

Went here around midday for brunch. My wife had the breakfast burger, I had eggs benedict, and the kids had pancakes. The burger wasn’t worth the price. My eggs benedict had hard yolks, burnt bread, and tough, overcooked bacon - nearly impossible to cut through. The kids’ pancakes were so dry they couldn’t eat them, even with syrup, strawberry sauce, and ice cream - they only ate the ice cream. Overall, the food was a 1/5. For the price, it felt more like a slap to the face than a treat. The only saving grace was the consistently good coffee. Don't see myself giving this place another chance.

Staff was so sweet! Lovely service while ordering, very friendly ☺️ I only had something small from the cabinet but it came out at a quick but reasonable pace, and iced latte was so beautifully presented! A cup of milk and ice with the shot on the side, I had fun pouring it in and watching the colours mix 😍 One server complimented my style and I overall felt very special and very welcome, hoping to come back soon!!

The food here was great. The best carrot cake! But they were pretty slow with serving. Many tables were left with empty cups and dish for a while.

Coffee made to perfection as per request. Food also was good with new ranges coming in often. Tried both halloumi range and Mushroom range, both really good. And service was really good with personal touch compared to other cafes.

Truly Exceptional Cup ​I recently had the pleasure of trying the coffee here, and it was a truly exceptional experience from start to finish. My first impression was its inviting aroma—a rich, comforting scent that hinted at the flavors to come. Ordered eggs Benedict which came absolutely drowned in the sauce/topping. Chef stated ‘sorry, it all came out at once’. Had to scrape off all the excess to even see the meal. Spinach not drained of water, which caused the toast to turn to mush. Added a hash brown to the meal which was so overcooked couldn’t even taste potato, only oil. For the price definitely not a go-to venue.

Always surprised when a shop doesn't want you to take any photos for their Google reviews but anyway....I managed to smuggle out these photographs of my breakfast which was supposed to be scrambled eggs and bacon which was what I ordered off the menu. Yesterday I stopped in at Stellarossa for what I hoped would be a good lunch. What I got instead felt more like a social experiment in disappointment. When we walked in, there was no warm welcome, no smile, not even a “Hey, how are you going?” Just a blank stare that lasted a bit too long before we awkwardly asked, “Can we grab a table for two?” The response was a grunt, followed by a vague hand gesture toward the menus. No words, no direction, just an unspoken “sit wherever.” We sat down and waited, unsure if it was table service or if we were meant to order at the counter. After a few awkward minutes of silence and guessing, we noticed others heading up to order. So I went to the counter, where I was greeted with yet another blank stare and a sigh heavy enough to shift furniture. I placed my order and asked for a receipt, which apparently was too much to ask. The huff I got in return said it all, customer service clearly wasn’t on the menu. Then came the food. Or rather, the optical illusion they call a “Spectacular Steak Sanga.” At $24.90, I was expecting something worth the price, a hearty steak sandwich that looked like a meal, not an appetiser. What arrived was the smallest steak sandwich I’ve ever seen as an adult. I genuinely thought they’d cut one sandwich in half for my colleague and me to share. But no, that two-inch cube sitting on the plate was the entire meal. Four small, dry bits of steak drowning in aioli, almost no relish or rocket, and a stale Turkish bun doing its best to hold it all together. To make things funnier, the onion rings were literally bigger than the sandwich. The steak knife towered over it like a monument to sadness, and the chips were rationed like we were in a potato shortage. My colleague’s sandwich looked even worse. Her top bun was two random pieces shoved together as if someone ran out and thought, “She’ll be right.” When the empty plates were finally cleared, there was still no interaction, no “How was your meal?” Not even eye contact. It’s almost as if they knew the answer and decided silence was safer. The menu promised “tender steak, caramelised onion, beetroot, rocket, cheese, aioli and tomato relish on toasted Turkish bread. Served with beer-battered onion rings and chips.” What we got was a $24.90 reminder that sometimes the description is pure fiction. If you want a proper steak sandwich and a place that actually welcomes you, stick to your local pub or favourite independent café. They know how to make food with heart and treat customers like humans. Stellarossa, on the other hand, seems more interested in serving sarcasm and disappointment with extra aioli.

Disappointed! Service was slow, the coffee unfortunately was appalling. I guess if I asked for something “normal” like a cappuccino , it may have been better. I did however, ask for a long black, after waiting for milk to finally arrive, it was barely enough to put colour in the coffee let alone take away the extremely strong burnt coffee taste. The fruit bread with butter and compote was also a disappointment. The serving was a generous size, but very lacking in compote(see pictures). I have dined here in the past with excellent service and food/coffee... were they having a bad day? I can’t answer that, but I do expect better for price I paid.

The poor rating at this shop is well deserved. Ordered a coffee and a B&E and a chicken-cheesebtoasted sandwich, ended up with a BBQ wrap that I didn't want after 20 minutes of waiting.

Service is great, friendly helpful staff. Quiche was good. Unfortunatley Coffee was weak? small coffee asked for another shot, they explained it was only 1 in a small, put in another shot for free, coffee still weak, threw 1/2 cup in bin.

Absolutely ridiculous experience. After ordering drinks and a ham & cheese croissant, I was told it was self-service—meaning I was to toast my own food using an old sandwich press tucked around the corner. That’s something you should be told before placing an order. If I wanted to make my own food, I would’ve stayed home. Worst café experience I’ve ever had.

Iced latte was filled with coffee grinds, had to toast my own sandwich and i had to ask for a plate afterwards and they ended up giving me a paper plate that was smaller than the sandwich and had a dirty finger print/ smudge on it. The sandwich had no butter on it and was so dry, I only had a wooden knife that wouldn't cut all the way through so I had to rip the sandwich apart, Never going here again and not recommending to anyone, I'd rather be hungry.

Staff were very friendly. Place is very nice and clean. Never been to a self serve cafe before. Free water is impressive. My ham, cheese and tomato toastie was nowhere good as it usually. Don't know if it had been sitting for awhile before I toasted it or if I didn't cook it properly. Either way it was disappointing.

The worst takeaway latte I've had in ages, It was basically sugary milk. I had to go to McDonald's and order one of they're coffees to wash the taste out of my mouth .

Super friendly staff and one of the best coffee Mackay has to offer! Adora still live up to the hype, they consistently make great coffee and serve it with a smile. There is plenty of space to have a catch up, also a baby play area for toddlers

As always the location was good, service prompt and menu varied. Unfortunately a classic Australian ’toastie’ was served using the crust from the loaf, conveniently placed face down on delivery which resulted in the low food rating.

Definitely worth a visit. Great local Artwork inside and mother nature art works outside. So relaxing. Great coffee. Good food. Lovely service.

Definitely don’t recommend, Was absolutely terrible, plating was awful, looked like it had just been slapped on the plate, eggs were over cooked, there was cheese on the tomato which was not indicated on the menu anywhere and being lactose intolerant we went up to see if they could just swap it or get a refund which they couldn’t give a reason why not, didn’t get a refund, Italian sausage was over cooked and crumbling to pieces, maybe they were just having a bad bad but I wouldn’t recommend wasting your money. If I could give zero stars 0 would, truly one of the worse places in all of the Whitsundays I’ve eaten at. On another note the location is quite nice but doesn’t make up for there poor services.

We were a group of 4 locals who walked 1.5kms to the cafe on a Saturday morning for a late breakfast just on a whim for the first time. We were very pleased with the quality and variety of food, the professionalism of the staff and the overall relaxing atmosphere overlooking the lagoons. We will definitely be returning.

Some staff were not friendly at all. Food and atmosphere was amazing. Good value for alot but the 8pc shrimps at $30 was not worth it. Loved their scones.

It took over 20minutes for my meal. I get that they were busy and all, but if being busy were valid justification for such a long wait than I suspect that they forgot they're fast food. Maccas is a fast food establishment. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Spent $50 on a big feed after a session on the beers. Usually anything would taste good after a sesh on the beers but this was the worst feed I’ve had from McDonald’s. How can it be possible to wait so long for the food then get it freezing cold? Just doesn’t make sense.

Ordered 3 ice cream cones and 1 frozen for the kids before their sports instore after the order they turned around and served 20 cars can’t rate the food cause it took too long I left after the kid at the waiting counter marched up and said WHAT!! I wasn’t rude I don’t expect that crap.

The worse store i've been to. Twice i've been here for only coffee. Both times they were very similar, cappuccino was just like a dark water, as i lifted lid it all spilt over me in car, both times, very unpleasant girl at drive thru too! Forget items from order everytime. Honestly baffling how it’s possible everytime. I keep thinking surely it can’t be an ongoing issue, I continue to be wrong. I literally ordered a happy meal, burger and a hash brown.. forgot items.. actually unsure how it’s possible.

I passed through Mackay a week ago, noticed the male toilet had no privacy lock. I advised staff who said they would speak to the manager. Passed through again a week later, still no privacy lock on male cubicle door. How can you get the job done when you have to use one hand to keep the spring loaded door closed? People rely on Maccas for good food and facilities. Lift your game North Mackay!!

Came for a rest stop on our travels with our children order food and the children had a play . When i asked for a cup of hot water to heat my babys (3 months) bottle i was told by the male manager i had to order something . I explained i had already order alot of food prior but he didnt care said no you have to order something else . Pretty pathetic considering its just fricken water ! How useless mc donalds , suppose to be a family friendly resturant !

Was happy to remove previous negative comment and give this business a fair go after the owner approached me and we discussed the issues. Until today when the new so called Barista claims that the attached photos is a flat white ( Have not drank from the cup just drove home from canelands). Had no issues with the owner but then the new guy when challenged today and shown how much foam was in the cup he claims " IF IT WAS A CAP THEN I WOULD HAVE PUT CHOCOLATE ON IT" its supposed to be a flat white with no foam.. the new guy should go seriously back to school and learn the basics of coffee making and customer service.. I am happy to leave this review and never return to the store again after today s debacle.. staff are rude, had the music turned so loud it was like a disco and obviously knowing the owner was not around today, to the owner i am sorry your employing idiots as it was good for a while but now not so when you are not around the employees run riot and treat customers like scum and this is not the first time when your not around there has been an issue.

Have been in this store quite a few times. I find the staff to be friendly and pleasant. The food although not much range, is quite good. Maybe a bigger range would be better.

My Mum and I stopped for a quick break on Sunday morning and I paid 21.10 for a croissant(not fresh) and 2 reg milkshakes, one lactose free (which wasnt). Staff were friendly but I was disappointed with the food being thrown on a paper plate. I have nothing against paper plates but seriously presentation is awful and extremely unappetising and the poor old croissant was toi hard to cut. will not go again. Walked past an hour later, on our way home and our food still sitting on the table.

Friendly staff, fast professional service. I was particularly impressed by the young girl behind the counter. She was only 15 and was being abused by a middle aged customer because she was unable to make their drink as they had ran out of stock for that item - as if she was personally responsible for that problem! Disgusting behavior from the customer, but the staff handled it brilliantly. My drink was delicious and prepared quickly and efficiently.

Next to the Art Gallery in the council precinct. Plenty of choices of premake meals for takeaway. Seemed a popular choice for council workers. Has inside and outside tables available. Can reserve a table if required. No steps and you can go through to the gallery next door for a look. Staff were friendly and attentive. I tried the thai beef salad. It was really good. Milkshakes seemed popular. My partner had one and enjoyed it with a toastie. I have been here a few times and will go back.

Food fresh nothing special. Asked for soft egg, got hard one. Order ice coffee. States on menu it comes shot, ice cream, milk ice. Asked for the ice cream told it’s was not included it’s extra. A smile from the girl serving would be nice but maybe she was just having a bad day.

Great location, but as mostly public servants shop here the food quality is not great. Vegetarian meals are literally a plate of lettuce. Over priced supermarket fare. Need to get with the times.

Foods good, service is polite but they are bad at taking a order. Sadly they will not take you order until after they've finished making the order before yours. So that means if you've got a order to go to the kitchen you won't get it started until the 3 cups of flat white have been made by the person that needs to take your order. Understaffed? Or badly trained?

The best little spot on Mackay for coffee, food and treats!!! I have coffee here a lot and it’s always made perfectly! The food (viet beef salad!) is delicious and they have decadent treats such as muffins and cookies etc. they also have protein rich snacks and vegan ones. Rahnii and the staff are always so lovely, always happy and genuine and smiling! Service is quick-as it’s very popular it gets very busy, this is to be expected obviously! Everyone loves this place!

Can the staff at K&Co please do something about their handling of Bopple orders. Several times now I have ordered through bopple and never do they mark the order as ready to pick up. So you’re always left wondering if it’s ready, and god forbid you open the window and ask…always attitude from the staff about it. I know they’re busy there but how hard is it to be courteous to a paying customer. If you can’t manage that then take the two seconds to mark the order as complete so that we can do it ourselves.

Make great coffee and have a variety of food that caters to different dietary requirements and tastes fresh and good. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Prices are fairly normal for a cafe. Very busy, popular place.

Recently had to get lunch from Mother's Pantry. There was nothing on the menu board, only premade beef or chicken burgers and a small assortment of deep fried food in the bain-marie. Don't know if they were having supply or kitchen issues and this was the result, or if this is now their "normal". The radio was playing extremely loudly that it was also hard to hear the questions I was being asked by the employee. Mother's Pantry used to offer a wide range of lovely fresh foods, so it was very disappointing to pay $16 for a chicken burger as the best option from a poor selection.

Delicious food, always fresh and hot. They make great sandwiches if you need them for corporate meetings too. Staff are friendly and efficient, highly recommend.

Absolutely terrible experience. This McDonald’s falsely advertises being open 24/7 — it is NOT. We waited over 30 minutes in the drive-thru, only to end up leaving without any food. There was no communication, no sign, no explanation — just a long line going nowhere. They clearly need more staff or better management, because the place looked completely shut down while still showing as open. If you’re looking for quick service or anything close to reliability, avoid this location at all costs. Total waste of time.

Absolute ridiculous macca’s in the cosmos. If the staffs wasnt busy chatting all the time maybe they’ll have some sense to actually check what they are serving. Multiple times got the wrong order. Gave us someone else’s order. When asked for mcgirdle egg and cheese, they gave us the one with bacon. Asked for no sugar in plain iced latte, ofcourse there is sugar in it. Cold burgers, cold chips. Probably cannot understand simple english. Reached the max today, waited so long in the line after ordering just for the staff to be giggling and chatting, and handing out wrong order, cold burgers and chips, without even checking. If i can i wouldve give 0 stars. Avoid this disastrous place. Paid 30 or 40 dollars just to be served with absolute joke.

No front desk service at all 15min standing there no one came out. $60 order in drive through all tastiest were just bread not even warmed. Completly missed the macaroons from the order. Absolutely disgusting service and food. Given sweet chilli sauce instead of maple for the hot cakes

Everytime we go here, it's empty, quite and relaxing. The food has always been fresh. Nuggets cooked to perfection 👌. Slight problem for me but it's not a big deal, the choc ice cream always runs out 😢

Went through the drive through & ordered the large mega meal. Chips stone cold & not cooked through, Big Mac stone cold, nuggets stone cold & hard. If these things are being prepared ahead of time it’s concerning that they are not being served & kept at the required temperatures as per safe food handling. Will be avoiding this place ever again.

This McDonald’s has been almost a second home for me on my holiday in Mackay. I appreciate the air con, excellent staff, prompt service, fresh food and clean environment. Their toilets are always immaculate and smell fantastic. The meals are always prompt and the food is hot. Their Big Macs are some of the best and its a stopping point for me most days to get an ice cream cone with a Flake. 👌😊 The team are warm and hardworking. Many visits I have seen the team out cleaning tables, wiping down chairs and doing a general tidy up. One of the cleanest McDonald’s I’ve been to. The access to free Wi-fi is also excellent. That too has helped me immensely. I’ve watched the team Steve other customers and they always speak politely and with manners. I use the Maccas app on my iPhone and of late have had some trouble paying(only due to the fact that I actually cancelled my bank card because I lost it! Nothing at all to do with Maccas or their app, completely my fault!😶) The team were patient and respectful through my frustration at myself. The recommendations I have are that McDonald’s in general provide more bins outdoors and that Mackay provide more spots for people to lock up their bikes!! Looking around I noticed for a beach town with many push bikes 🚴 there are not sufficient facilities to lock up your bikes. 😑 Thank you

Amazing café with tasty, high-quality food and big portions (my favorite thing)! My acai bowl was so HUGE that I didn't even get to finish it. The serving of peanut butter was also generous. As for the cappuccino, creamy and delicious. Make sure to book in advance if you plan to eat here, because all the tables were packed on Sunday at 9AM. I will definitely come here again to try a savory breakfast next! 🥑🍳

The best food and coffee here! Never got disappointed! Tried acai bowl and salmon croissant! It’s delicious! The room is very tidy and clean! The air conditioner works very well. The Christmas decorates are very warm! The food and coffee were served so effectively! The people are so nice! Spent too much good time in this beautiful place!

Had breakfast. The food was ready in 10-15 min, very speedy service and amazing presentation! Wanted to try the pumpkin frittata but it was unfortunately unavailable so i chose smashed avo with chipolata addon instead, and my partner had mushroom bruschetta with addon bacon. We both enjoyed our food.

Breakfast at The Avenue? Absolutely flawless. Every detail nailed—from the perfectly cooked eggs to the fresh, vibrant coffee. The service was warm and attentive, the atmosphere bright and inviting, and every bite tasted like it had been crafted with care. Honestly, I can’t think of a single thing to improve. Pure breakfast perfection.

A nice spot for Brekky, the food was delicious. The sun room was freezing cold to sit in from the aircon running but still a nice place for Brekky. Coffee is great.

Disappointed doesn’t even begin to cover it. I visited this coffee shop hoping for a quality brew and welcoming service—unfortunately, I got neither. The elderly lady behind the counter was abrupt and visibly irritated, treating basic questions like they were a nuisance. Hospitality is key in any café, and this was sorely lacking. I expected at least a decent coffee to make up for the cold welcome, but even that was subpar. The latte was lukewarm, poorly frothed, and bitter in a way that suggested burnt beans or bad technique. To top it off, the price was eye-watering for what amounted to a below-average experience. For a place charging premium rates, you’d expect some level of professionalism and consistency. Sadly, both were missing here. With so many great cafés around, there’s really no reason to return. Customer service matters—and this place missed the mark completely.

I went through the drive through today at around 2pm and was served by the nicest young girl. She was so accommodating and had absolutely lovely customer service. I also am so impressed by how wonderful my coffees are every time I get one. I have struggled to find a cafe that serves good coffee consistently and every coffee I have had here has been perfect. Such a beautiful restaurant and drive through, also finding out the drive through is open at 5am has been amazing for before work.

We were staying in the area for a few days, and grabbing a takeaway coffee each morning from Stellarossa quickly became a highlight of our routine. The coffee was consistently delicious, and the staff were always friendly and welcoming. I appreciated being able to sit at the tables while I waited—there was never any rush or pressure. The interior decor is modern, pleasant, and has a warm, inviting feel. A fantastic local cafe that we genuinely looked forward to visiting each day!

Went through drive-through and ordered white hot chocolate and ham/cheese croissant. 15 minutes later (in drive-through) finally get to the window. Lady ask me what was my order so I repeat my order. Get it and go. Take a sip and its normal hit chocolate. Open the bag and I got chicken toastie. I was not impressed. Paying for something you don't get. And the long wait made me late for work. Train your staff proper. The girl looked like she was fast asleep or massive hangover. And definitely didn't know her job. Its not that difficult.

These guy's are fantastic. Food and coffee are second to none. That's why we keep coming back.

Seriously don't listen to the negative reviews, you will be disappointed if you miss out on this place ! Coffee was great, good amazing food, pancake perfect, staff on point, relaxing atmosphere, do your self a favour don't go on the fussy negative Karens and try for your self !

Absolutely delicious food. Kitchen worth noting does close at 1:30pm. Hand cut hot potato chips are delicious. One burger was missing pickle and had two meat patties instead of one but still tasted good. Popular with the local trade area in groups and for smoko time. Catering is available and is fantastic eating. Probably the best potato scallop in Mackay I've tried. Cool interior decorating as well and exterior seating is available. Plenty of parking when we went but it is shared with neighbouring businesses with zoned labelled marking. Will try and go back.

Went specifically for a caffeine hit, got a Mocha Frappe & requested an extra shot of coffee, runny & weak, it was like a cold aerated foam like choccy milky with what melted ice was in there, the aerosol whipped cream on top had more taste than anything else. Friendly staff, but I couldn't comprehend the $9.50 let down, first & a last.

$14.50 for a soggy burger with a meat pattie, a slice of cheese and some sauce. Literally that was it. These guys and the hungry caterpillar are in grand final for biggest rorts in Mackay.

Terrible food, ridiculously overpriced, half the stuff in the food van is either burnt or inedible. Food Van ladies will refuse to sell certain items and will hold for other people. Can not rate this pathetic excuse for a restaurant any lower.

It’s the first time I’ve been. Lived in MacKay for 3 years and work as an on-road rep everyday. I didn’t know this cafe existed and got excited that I found a new place to buy lunch. I bought a burger packaged in a foil bag in their hotbox for $15 and was gravely disappointed. Soggy and replicated an $8.50 service station burger. What a shame. Nice place, nice staff but the food is their downfall. Won’t be going back.

If I could give a half a star I would, this has to be the worst place in Mackay to buy smoko, the food is over priced and rubbish, please put more effort into the food and the hot box variety, staff are kind food is shit

16/08/2022 10.45am people lined up lady attendant on her mobile while working with food distracted moving in her Sunday speed pace unwelcome feeling stuck out like a sore thumb with facial and body exspressions not having it.. having doubts to go there now ...great place to eat but this is not the first time ...other than that though yum but be prepared to be waited on only issue and problem..definitely not a good look ..I did not receive my water bottle that was ordered aswell after spending nearly $30....I'm not worried about the water bottle but the service there not a thing other business would do I take, there was a lineup...hope someone else is on the ball atleast when paying customers arrives... more training needed I suspect be a wonderful start atleast.. greeting and interacting with customers and don't forget what they ordered..or give an option or show variety unreal but yeah.
