Breakfast restaurant
Tibits is a popular restaurant chain known for its vegetarian and vegan offerings. With over 40 seasonal dishes, the restaurant takes pride in using fresh, regional produce to create delicious and healthy salads, soups, juices, and desserts. The pay-per-weight buffet system allows patrons to enjoy a variety of hot and cold dishes without meat. The venue offers a cozy yet speedy dining experience with options for Asian, Thai, Mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free diets.
The food was very creative and tasty. However, if you're hungry, you quickly spend a fair amount of money. The concept is essentially self-service so you feel like you're in a cafeteria, although a trendy one.
Boris M — Google review
We came back 2x for this lunch. Really enjoyed the food selection and flavors. It’s pay per weight so the hungrier you are the more you pay.
Angie K — Google review
Tibits restaurants are our all time favorite all over Switzerland. It was our first night in Basel and we came here walking (thanks to google) for dinner. Though there was outdoor seating but due to cold weather everyone was indoor. We started with white wine and whiskey with Nachos. I don't know why they don't serve scotch whiskey ? The buffet spread of veg and vegan dishes was great. There were many Indian dishes. The concept of paying as per weight is good. The food was delicious. The staff was very helpful. The washroom was upstairs. While coming down, one of the staff found me struggling. He took me behind kitchen and brought me down by service elevator. Thanks a lot. The ambiance was great, totally family oriented. Don't miss it when in Switzerland...
Balkrishna S — Google review
While visiting Basel, I ate here twice in two days. I loved the inventive vegan selection and all the different choices of area to sit in. Some real thought has gone into this place (for example, types of food, no smoking outside, coat hooks, bag hooks, plug points), which is rarely seen. If I lived here nearby, I would eat here VERY OFTEN. Great service, too.
CM — Google review
I have paid 20CHF for my salad - it was delicious and fresh - would come here again :) it's a self-service restaurant- you take your plate, serve yourself a food and then pay for the weight ( they don't explain details on how they weigh it, though i didn't ask )

Loved it here! I don’t eat much and able to get a perfect lunch, just my size and plant based!!

The best lunch I’ve had in Europe! Lots of natural light, spacious seating, elegant and modern cafe atmosphere with restaurant-level food choices, friendly services and affordable price(by weight). Highly recommended to anyone seeking for a place to study, work, have a gathering, or date!

Nomad Eatery & Bar in Basel is a quirky waterfront eatery with rustic decor that makes you feel like an adventurous explorer. The slightly mischievous staff deliver mouthwatering dishes, offering a memorable dining experience. On Sundays, they offer a unique brunch accompanied by live music and the option to upgrade with Spumante. The restaurant is part of Nomad Design & Lifestyle Hotel, known for its Scandi and concrete aesthetic.
A really cool concept, with a relaxing vibe and decor, where the emphasis is clearly on providing a high standard of experience. We ate the belly pork and pickled pumpkin as starters which were both individually lovely but also complimentary to each other. Then I got the bimbeumbap with chicken, and it was a substantial bowl and beautifully made. Washed down with the recommended lager we skipped desserts although they were all tempting, and rolled out very satisfied
Samuel J — Google review
Great place for Sunday brunch, with excellent service and a good choice of food. Good quality products, salami and cheese - top. Hot dishes and cold cuts, salmon, cava, pastries - all delicious. big questions to roast beef, sorry guys, it looks great, but very hard to chew. Overall, well done colleagues, thumbs up!!!
Dmitrijs L — Google review
The place looked great for lunch. Ordered Falafel for 24CHF and got 4 little slices with nothing but a little sauce. Could easily pass as little side-snack for your beer. When asked by the cashier how it was, I replied that the volume was not up to par. She ignored that. Nomad used to be the place to recommend to visitors, but it is now showing signs of decline.
Sebastian R — Google review
The place is buzzing with people every evening, has an amazing bar and serves delicious food! Cocktails are made professionally and served rapidly. If you're a burger fan, you must try the Nomad burger. Absolutely fantastic. Could do with a little bit more sauce for the fries, nevertheless, an excellent choice.
Henry — Google review
The Sunday Brunch was absolutely wonderful! Lots of delicious dishes to choose from. Drinks incl. tea, coffee, prosecco all inclusive. Ambience cosy, live music, attentive waiters. Can definitely recommend.
NathaniaML — Google review
Love their Sunday brunches! Probably my favorite in Basel. The food is always fresh and they have champagne included😱 which is rare in basel. Great place for hang out, dates or whatever else! Their cocktails are also amazing
Iva M — Google review
Place is beautiful. Maybe I didn’t get the message of the food. The one I ordered is the fish one. It is fish with tomatoes not quite something I would expect (not understanding the German menu and didn’t ask…). Taste wise it is ok, spicy for me. It is definitely not WOW effect for me. But place is good. Nice to sit and drink and chat.

Brunch in Sundays is just super with musicians playing live from time to time. Casual lunch with friends or colleagues during business days is convenient. I recommend their Nomad Burger

Pizza Takeout
LORA Basel Restaurant & Pizzeria is a must-visit spot located at the Basel SBB train station. It offers a delightful mix of classic and modern cocktail culture, with a recommendation to try their signature drinks. The restaurant is known for serving delicious pizzas, including gluten-free options, and expertly crafted cocktails that cater to every taste. The ambiance is vibrant with music playing in the background, creating an inviting atmosphere.
It was our first night in Basel and we went to the Lara Restaurant. It was a quiet night so we had a.chance to ask the wonderful staff a lot of questions. One man in particular, Julio, described the subtleties of the Pesto Sagno pizza. It was obvious that he loves food! So we tried it. It was everything he said it was, complex and delicious, and they make their own dough. It was wonderful with red wine. If we were going to be in Basel for a longer time, we would absolutely go back.
Judy W — Google review
Well-kept ambience with good music in the background. Nice decoration in the room. The whole room was a bit chilly, which was not so pleasant. The service was friendly and quick, and asked if everything was OK. The pizzas and the aperitif platter were tasty, but nothing amazing for the price. Therefore, the prices are a bit overpriced in my opinion.
- B — Google review
A very cozy and friendly place in Basel SBB train station. Attentive and helpful staff and some very intricate varieties of pizza toppings. Even so, I did not dine in, the atmosphere invited me to stay, which I will definitely do next time. I had the Pizza Fantasia (Südtirol) and it was a delicious trip down South. Goat cheese, apricot, nuts, honey and mozarella cheese as travel companions suited me well. And I cannot wait to try others like Mamma Lora or Pizza Nonno with Cime de rapa. Prices range from CHF 20 to 30, which is not really cheap, but hej, you are in Switzerland... The special boat-like form reminded me of the Georgian Khachapuri. In that special case, I would not be afraid if someone from Montana would take me to the train station...
Stefankai S — Google review
Would give 6 stars if I could, great pizza and even better service. I felt so at home after being dazed and hungry stumbling off my long train ride. Thanks for taking care of me, Lora Staff!

I ordered pizza from UberEats when they had the offer pay 1 for 2 pizzas. Pizza was super delicious, with good quality ingredients; however, the size was quite smaller than the usual one they have
Sara D — Google review
So, I bummed into this place as it wasn’t busy with people and I thought I could grab and go… So, I got to the counter order my Green Tea and I’m surprised and that got half the cup size of water. So, I asked the lady why is the cup half size and not the normal… com‘on its CHF5 for a tea! Her answer was puzzling to me as she said, ”This is small not much water good and the big one will have much water“… well I like my tea with lots of water and please can I get the normal cup… Lucky without a fuss she gave me the normal size cup 🤔 but this is strange why would some order tea in a small cup? That’s for double espresso maybe make sense… Well, not the best experience so I didn’t order any sandwiches but grabbed a pischatio croissant but it only tasted so so unlike what you get in Italy. The filling was pistachio jam 🫣 not my favourite But the ambiance is cosy and with ample sitting outside.
Med A — Google review
I have survived the pandemic eating Pizza from Lora. People don’t believe me when I say they have pizza and that too of good quality. Must try pizza in the city. Also the restaurant atmosphere is cozy.
Euro I — Google review
Great new brasserie in the French end of the Basel train station. Ambiance: When we were there the music was playing and the vibe was popping. Food: This is one of the best pizzas in Basel. If they retain their quality you don’t want to miss their unique blend of high quality ingredients. Drinks: They have great cocktails, an inventive menu and great beers on tap. Overall: Self service concept and speed of service could improve, but this is definitely a place I’ll continue to visit if they keep the quality up and the grooves playing.

The bar strikes a perfect balance between a cafe and a bar, making it an ideal spot to enjoy an evening with beer or coffee. Super friendly and welcoming bar with vast choice of beverages and nice atmosphere, weekends they have bands during daytime. Goat cheese from Portugal is what you need with your wine. Staff are amazing

Cannot recommend this place enough. Staff was kind enough to let me charge my phone (forgot an EU power adapter lol)--stayed for a while and got a hot drink on a cold day. Cash only seemingly so make sure to have your francs.
Owen T — Google review
Only came in here for 2 drinks , barman said they only take cash but would take euros , absolute rubbish it cost €17 for two beers and 3 Swiss francs in change, loved the city as a tourist but do not go in here

Great local cafe where you can sit in the evening with a beer or a coffee and not feel out of place. Strikes the perfect balance between cafe and bar. Nice to sit outside on the street as well in evenings when not too busy. CASH ONLY. Minus 1 star: THIS IS THE 21st Century -_-

Great place in Basel to have some good quality wines and snacks. Lovely staff and fine service. The vintage ambiance, decoration and music selection are an add value. I don't like it, i love it!
Xavier M — Google review
PS answer to the owner’s reply: the tone of your reply simply shows you are not happy in life. And I’m sorry for that. Saying to me to “never come back” just cause I pointed out there was No signal of advising customers of an (illegal) cash only policy, is mean. I’m sorry for you. It was not written anywhere that u could pay just by cash, that’s the only thing I was pointing out. Probably now there’s gonna be a sign after this review…I’m happy to have improved your service with my feedback. If you go there keep in mind that It’s not possible to pay by card. It would have been kind (not mandatory for law…,but just kind) to know it in advance or see it is written somewhere (withdrawing can be expensive if you come from another country) whereas the owner tell you this in a rude and passive aggressive way at the moment of paying. I hope he will enjoy the same treatment while living in another country, but since the way he treats foreigners I’m sure he lived all his life here. I am sorry if life is that ostile to him, I hope he’ll find some happiness in his job.
Alessio C — Google review
Very good music and nice, curated and particular interior design. The beer selection is OK, we tried the cheeses board, which is pretty expensive for what it contains, but it was very tasty. They doesn't accept credit cards and we had to wait a lot for a receipt. The place is in general pretty noisy, due to both the loud music and the small size.

Nestled in the charming town of Riehen, 'Zur grünen Amsel' is a delightful restaurant that invites you to savor authentic Swiss specialties and regional cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it easy to feel right at home. One of the standout features here is their house-brewed beer, which has garnered praise for its unique flavors and quality. Located in northern Switzerland, bordering Germany, is the village of Riehan, which has one brewpub. Zur Grunen Amsel (translates as the Green Blackbird) is primarily a restaurant, but they feature beer from the in-house Hausbrauerei Amsel-Brau brewery. There is free parking along the street, and there is a train station walking distance away. Nearby is a village park and various shops. The white building is two-story with green shutters and a green bird logo overhead, which is also the mascot on the label of their bottled beers. Just inside is a welcome room and ahead on the right is a short wooden bar where the staff pours the beers from a stainless steel tap tower. They have 3 house beers on tap, which I tried in small pours, and a as well as a larger variety in bottles, which they also sell to go. Their beer is well made across an impressive range of styles - I was impressed. Also behind the bar are shelves of various liquors and wines. The small bar room has a few lounge chairs and just outside is an enclosed courtyard with a few tables. From there you can get a decent view into the brewery itself. On the ground floor are short stainless steel fermenters and stacks of beer. The brewing vessels are in the 2nd story room upstairs and outside are stacks of kegs to be filled. Under the brewery window are inverted hanging bottles of their beer. Past the bar room is a rustic dining room with a few large dining tables. The floor is tiled and the wood trim walls are decorated with historic plates and pictures. They serve traditional German inspired cuisine in a family friendly ambience. The staff is welcoming, helpful and neighborly. It is a fine place for a meal and drinks, or you can take their enjoyable beer to go.

(Translated by Google) At first glance, the bar seems like a really cool place – great atmosphere, good music, friendly customers. But if you look behind the scenes, you quickly realize that appearances are deceptive. The way employees are treated is disrespectful, cold, and anything but fair. You work yourself to exhaustion, giving your heart and energy – and get little more in return than pressure, ignorance, and empty words. Humanity, appreciation, and honesty? None. I was really disappointed because I loved this place in the beginning. But what's going on there internally is unfortunately destroying exactly what makes the bar so special to the outside world. Of course, just my personal opinion. Fehlanzeige. There is hardly a wish that cannot be read from your lips in an almost magical way. The rooms are bright, large, very well equipped, clean, almost clinically pure. The housekeeping, concierge, reception, directions assistance and front office manager are a well-coordinated team. A taxi is called for the customer in seconds, the bar is well stocked and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and always good for a cocktail surprise. The cigar lounge ‘The Council’ was my living room during my stay, with a very good selection of Cuban cigars of the highest quality. The entire hotel is on par with any international museum in terms of its international art collection. The bar cuisine is exquisite and the restaurant is of world-class quality. I felt at home here and look forward to coming back. It's worth travelling the furthest distances for this place!

Toxic, biased, and completely unprofessional security – avoid this hotel if you care about fairness and safety I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a luxury hotel — all because of the incompetent and biased security staff at Hotel Les Trois Rois. During my visit, I witnessed and experienced blatant gender discrimination. A male guest made a completely unverified comment, and without hesitation, security sided with him — no questions asked, no effort to understand the full context, no interest in hearing both sides. They immediately took action against me, simply because I’m a woman. Their behavior was aggressive, condescending, and rooted in outdated attitudes that have no place in any professional setting, let alone a five-star hotel. The way they handled the situation was not just careless — it was dangerous. Their actions sent a clear message: women are not respected here. The security staff do not behave like trained professionals. They act with prejudice, arrogance, and a disturbing lack of accountability. They treated me with suspicion instead of respect, and it was clear they had already made up their minds before speaking a single word to me. This is not just a service failure — it is a serious reflection of a toxic culture that starts with poor hiring, lack of training, and a complete disregard for guest safety, especially for women. If you're expecting world-class service, safety, and fair treatment, stay far away from this hotel. Until the management overhauls its security practices and addresses the bias in its staff, Hotel Les Trois Rois is not a safe place — it’s a risk.

Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois – Basel, Switzerland Staying at Les Trois Rois was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I arrived, the service was seamless, warm, and attentive, setting the tone for a stay that felt both luxurious and personal. ✨ Accommodations: Spacious, elegant rooms that combine old-world charm with modern comfort. The bathtub alone was an experience — the perfect place to unwind after exploring Basel. ✨ Service: Every interaction felt thoughtful and genuine, from the front desk to the housekeeping team. The attention to detail is what makes this hotel stand out among Europe’s finest. ✨ Atmosphere: There’s a timeless grandeur here, but it never feels overwhelming. Instead, you feel like part of the story, walking in the footsteps of history while enjoying every modern luxury. If you’re looking for a hotel that embodies heritage, refinement, and true hospitality, Les Trois Rois is the pinnacle. A stay I will never forget — and one I can’t wait to repeat. - Michelle

A beautiful stay at Les Trois Rois. The staff were warm and welcoming, offering refined Swiss hospitality throughout. The rooms are design-forward yet warm, so detailed and well curated that every element feels intentional. A place where tradition meets thoughtful modernity.

Worst security experience I’ve ever had – disgraceful treatment of women The security team at Hotel Les Trois Rois is not just unprofessional – they are outright disrespectful and biased. I had a deeply unpleasant encounter where a male guest made a false or minor accusation, and without any effort to verify facts or speak to me directly, security immediately acted against me. They treated me, a female visitor and professional, with no respect or courtesy, showing a shocking lack of basic investigative protocol, empathy, or neutrality. Their first and only instinct was to take the man’s word as truth, without question. This wasn’t a misunderstanding – it was a clear pattern of discrimination. The security staff acted with an aggressive, arrogant, and authoritarian attitude that has no place in any hotel, let alone one with five stars and a reputation for luxury. To be blunt: the security staff here behave like they’re guarding a nightclub, not a historic luxury hotel. They’re poorly trained, deeply biased, and damaging the hotel’s reputation. If you are a woman, a solo traveler, or anyone who expects to be treated with fairness and dignity, do not stay here. The security behavior was offensive, outdated, and dangerous. This hotel clearly prioritizes the comfort of men over the safety and dignity of women. I urge management to take serious action, because the current state of their security team is nothing short of shameful.

Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois — Where Civilization Still Dares to Dream, somewhere between Basel and the edges of myth There are hotels, and then there are living myths — and Les Trois Rois is the latter. A monument to human decency, a sanctuary for those who still believe that class, kindness, and romance belong together in the same trembling sentence. You arrive, like a weary pilgrim at the gates of civilization, and the staff receives you not with corporate smiles but with genuine warmth — the kind that could thaw the Swiss winter and make even a cynic believe again in the possibility of grace. From the first moment you step inside, you know you’re walking through the pages of some grand European story. The chandeliers hum. The leather whispers. The service it’s not subservience; it’s art. Everyone here seems to understand an unspoken covenant: that romance isn’t dead, that beauty still matters, that the world can be civil if only for the span of one perfect evening. And then there’s the patio, that blessed stage overlooking the Rhine. It’s not just a view — it’s a meditation, a Jungian dream made real. The river rolls on like the collective unconscious, deep and ancient, reflecting gold light off its dark surface while couples lean close over glasses of wine, rediscovering their purpose in the myth of each other. You can almost hear Carl Jung himself sighing somewhere upriver, murmuring about archetypes and rebirth as the night drifts in like smoke. Then the beef tartare arrives — a dish so precise, so deliriously good, it could rouse the gods from Olympus for one more dinner on earth. It’s not merely raw meat — it’s a declaration of faith in craftsmanship, in sensuality, in the power of a single bite to silence the noise of modern existence. Pair it with a glass of Saint-Émilion and watch your pulse slow to match the rhythm of the Rhine. Les Trois Rois is a hotel birthing civility, a place that believes in the romance of being alive. The kind of establishment that makes you remember why people once dressed for dinner, why letters were written by hand, and why love — that fragile, impossible thing — is still worth chasing through the centuries. Proof that in this mad, mechanized age, elegance still has a pulse and it beats here on the banks of the Rhine.

Rock music club
RENÉE is a stylish and charming bar located in Klein Basel, offering a unique experience for visitors. During the evening, it serves as a bar with outdoor seating that later transforms into a lively club with great music for dancing. The entrance fee includes credit to spend inside. The venue has a separate smoker room and often features small acts performing. While some patrons find it disappointing that certain mixed drinks are not served, there is still an extensive selection of various drinks available.
Exceptional, without too much fuss. A simple, rock and elegant place to enjoy a glass of wine with a small cheese platter, or a nice beer or cocktail with your favorite ones.
Haidi M — Google review
We went there after work to have a few drinks. The cocktails are very expensive and not very big. So prices are pretty high compared to other places in Basel. The atmosphere was great, there were two DJs playing Jazz music with vinyl records, which gave the evening a cozy touch. It can get very crowded towards the end, which makes it hard to have a conversation.

Great atmosphere, very late opening and generally good music! There are 2 glaring issues that don't seem to get corrected. First, it takes a VERY long time to get served, there are never enough bar staff for the types of drink they serve, and secondly, once you are served, don't dare insult them by asking for Coke as a mixer in anything. They won't do it. Drink police in full force. Otherwise, very enjoyable.

(Translated by Google) Total rip off. The man sold us a wine and gave the wrong price (14 francs). At the end it turned out that he charged an additional 25 francs if you drank the wine inside the hall. We weren't even at one of his tables. He only communicated this additional fee to us afterwards when we wanted the deposit for the glasses back and cashed in big money for it. He couldn't accept our suggestion that he inform people about this additional fee in the future. He behaved very stubbornly and unfriendly and didn't buy anything anymore. (Original) Totale Abzocke. The employee insulted me in an inappropriate tone and was extremely unfriendly. I'll never go there again!
