The 50 best bakeries in the Province of Buenos Aires

Completely honest review. The place itself it’s nice and the service it’s good, now the food it’s just ok, the pastries were mostly dry and even a bit old, nothing great.. much better pastry shops in Buenos Aires for that price and even cheaper. It’s an experience and I think you pay for that, good to visit once but wouldn’t go back.

A true historical landmark of Buenos Aires. The architecture and ambiance harkens to the end of the 19th century when it was built. With over 30K reviews on google maps, very little else could be said about Cafe las Violetas. But I will add this, the food and pastry are hearty and delicious, reminiscent of home-cooked meals. I will also add that it is a must-visit item on your sightseeing itinerary of the city.

This is one of the emblematic cafés in Buenos Aires, making it a “must visit.” However, in our experience, it was extremely overrated. We got a table quickly. Our servers were friendly and the service was fast - this was the only good part of our experience. We ordered the mixed sweet-savoury merienda for $50,000 ARS. For the price, one would expect top-notch quality. That simply wasn’t the case. The savoury platter was better than the sweet one - but it was “meh” at best. The cakes and pastries tasted old and stale. I’ve bought better-tasting cakes at Costco and Metro in Canada.

The service could have been a little more attentive, like cleaning up the plates when we were done and ask then if we would like to order anything else. We were talking for half an hour over dirty plates until i finally waved the waiter and asked him to take the plates and to bring me some tea. He was very nice but I think waiters there should be trained to be proactive , approach the table from time to time and ask if the guests need anything even after they serves the order.

The interior is beautiful, and that alone makes the place worth a visit. But that’s the only reason you’ll have. The menu options are limited, the desserts are average, and the place itself is very packed and therefore quite noisy. You’ll hardly be able to have a relaxed conversation in a comfortable setting here. Prices are moderate.

This is a must-visit coffee place in Buenos Aires! It vibes with its history and it takes you to other times. It’s not a modern coffee shop - but it brings its greatness to the present. Staff were friendly although moving a lot considering the place was busy. About the food, the juice and the cappuccino were great! - The grapefruit juice was abundant (see the pic) and it was super fresh. Cappuccino was also a nice size and delicious. The Avocado toast wasn’t as great as others I’ve tried but it was good. I don’t know if other stuff of the menu was better, I usually always ask the Avocado Toast for comparison to other places and because I really like it - I’d recommend making it a little different, maybe adding some tomato cherries or trying a different presentation with something that elevates it a little bit. I spent 10000 pesos Argentinos (January 2024) (remember I order juice, cappuccino and a plate)

Cafe con leche and medialunas were delicious. The building and its atmosphere was a nice trip to an historic part of the city. Loved it.

Super tasty spot! I’ve tried both the smoked and the classic choripán — the smoked is definitely the winner. The ensalada de choclo is alright, but I’d go for the fries instead — better flavour and a more generous portion. The choripán itself is on the smaller side, but it’s absolutely delicious. Highly recommend getting it with the garlic mayo and a Patagonia beer. I’ve been before and I’ll definitely be back!

Good spot for a classic local dish done right. I went for the traditional choripán and paired it with a Patagonia beer, great combo. (Small personal gripe: not a huge fan of the Stella Artois pint glasses, but that’s just me) My partner tried the beef choripán. Definitely not traditional, more like a burger, but good all the same! We visited on a quiet weekday afternoon. The place had a relaxed vibe with good music playing. Overall, an enjoyable experience. Would happily come back.

Best choripan I've tried in Argentina. I had the smoked sausage and it was really good! There's a printed menu both in English and Spanish. You can sit outside if it's not too hot. My experience was really good and I hope I get to visit again soon.

Chorizo on a bun is a new experience for me and my life is forever changed. Burgers wish they could be this tasty and flavourful. Great combo of flavours for each type of chorizo. Fries were just ok, could have been hotter or fresher. Nice combo deals with drinks.

I ordered the Porteño Choripan. The sandwich itself was great, the fries were ok. Total combo was around $20k. One thing that I don’t appreciate is that even though you line up to order and they don’t bring the food to you, they ask for tip.

Centrally located in Palermo. More of a gourmet take on the original choripan sandwich. The corn salad is very good. Takes credit card. Prices are higher than the rest of Buenos Aires, as any other place in the Palermo neighborhood.

Very delicious chocolate croissant filled with caramel. Freshly baked. Croissant baked perfectly and very generously topped. 4000 pesos for a croissant, so quite pricey. Sugar overload!

You don't often come across this expertise in croissant making. Out of this world, possibly the best croissants I've ever had! The price is a bit higher than others, but worth every cent. The pistachio creme one is paradisiac. Look nowhere else for your breakfast.

This place is absolutely amazing! There are so many different types of croissants with different types of fillings. All of them look so good. The pistachio cream croissant was recommended (as the most popular flavor), and it was SOOO GOOD! This bakery is fabulous, I cannot stress how good their special pastries are. I couldn't finish a croissant by myself because of how buttery, scrumptious and full of filling they are. But that won't indicate it's not good - it's just super big, full on filling. I had their famous pistachio croissant. Oh my god, the patissiere is very light, and the pistachio cream, it's like a white chocolate Nutella with pistachio. It is delicious, really. The flakiness, buttery taste of a fresh croissant. Their coffee is good, but I didn't quite dig the almond milk. I think these treats are great to share with people, just four croissants to bring somewhere and everyone would enjoy. You can see people making and filling the fresh croissants in front of you (they have flavors such as patissiere, mango, raspberry, chocolate) and you can have your bite and your sip on the sidewalk seats. Give it a try!

This place is so beautiful and such good places like this are really hard to find these days. The atmosphere is really out of this world, like the place is still in 1912. The food was great, warm and just fabulous. The service was Great, no wait time, almost nothing unpleasant. I recommend this place highly for people who want to enjoy a special one time experience. A bit expensive but it is worth it.

A beautifully renovated Confiteria in Buenos Aires. The interiors are stunning. When it’s full the vibe is like in the old days. The food and coffee is delicious. It’s a bit pricey, but at least for tangueros, this is a legendary place. This is where you could see Javier Rodriguez dancing with Geraldine Rojas in the film “Tango salón, confitería La Ideal” with Pupi Castelo.

Must try restaurant. Ask for Rogelio. The coffee here is in its own category. The menu feels like you are ordering from a movie. I’m not a big sweets person but I had to try everything. Make sure to get the cafe de le maestro. You won’t be disappointed

Found this place as a breakfast place but it is really a high tea spot, I.e. loads of sweets and finger sandwiches. There was one scrambled eggs on the menu which I ordered and ngl it was the best scrambled eggs I ever had in my life. They only have cow’s milk, and no americano so I convinced the waiter to add water to my espresso so I can have a black coffee. Also ordered a baguette (ham and cheese) which was sooo good and extremely large. I would say share a breakfast here and be prepared for cow’s milk. The venue itself was gorgeous and the staff are super polite and helpful.

I loved it. Food isn’t brilliantly cooked. Not far from school food standard. I went for dinner and maybe coffee/ pastries are their strengths? Staff are a bit disinterested to begin with. But once you settle into the pace and style (it’s a bit New York in attitude) it’s great. Don’t come for the food necessarily at night (can’t comment on the cool looking pastries and coffee machines) but the vibe is really good. Also really good value.

6th March 2025 I was there, poor service cause the waiter think that I’m not understand spanish which is I speak. At the beginning I can see he not will not give good service to me. So I speak only English with him. I wait food for long time 40minutes for 1 steak only! And end of service waiter ask me for tip. I give 10dollar to him and thats my last time there. I was quite frankly disgusted and appalled by the service of the Florida Garden Staff. My wife had prepared a bottle of milk for our son after a long flight. Not sure why this is categorized as hotel because it was a restaurant. The waiters all dress up in white and they have displays of a lot of sweets. The restaurant seemed to be in a rough condition and the waiters are not really attentive and nobody might talk to you when you walk in. The food wasn’t bad considering how touristy restaurants here suck. This place has edible tasty food.

We came here as friends invited us over. First of all, I was told it’s a famous Argentinian Chef making amazing sweets, so I was curious. We had some coffee & shared a lemon pie. To us the Merenge was simply too much for a good lemon pie & the coffees were good. Less good was the service that showed up exactly twice, once for order, once for payment. When we hadn’t even payed, I went to the restroom (rather unpleasant) and when I came back the waiter already had given my chair away… :-/ Additionally, cause it’s so well-known it is also massively overcrowded and therefore quite noisy.

What a disappointment. Starting by the slow service, followed by menu items not being available. Bread for one of the sandwiches was replaced by a sad undercooked ciabatta, server had to go out to buy almond milk which I was told was available. My sandwich was burnt and when I pointed this out, there was no apology, the server just turned around and had another one prepared for me. Coffees took forever because they did not have almond milk. Only good item was the lemon pie which was delicious. Totally overpriced and not worth it.

Good place to have something sweet. Maru Botana is well known for the delicious cakes, that have no waste, but this time I went for lunch. I’ve been before in another branch, where I had a veggie pie with salad that was INCREDIBLE. This time I had a burger with chips, pretty good! I wanted to hace smth sweet but I had no room, will hace to get back! Speaking of this specific brunch, the place is in front of a park, very cozy. Just a bit small and the tables are too close to each other. Table service is not good at all, unprofessional I would say.

Dos Escudos is both a cafe and a pastry shop. This review is about the bakery and pastry shop, which is our favorite "high end" patisserie in Buenos Aires. High end because it is more expensive than most, but not by much, and especially because the quality of the confectionery is just outstanding, both in terms of ingredients and preparation. The raspberry cake with chantilly cream is absolutely to die for and the Sandwiches de miga are second to none. The store is most often packed (always a good sign) but you take a number so there is no need to stand in line and wait for your turn in a crowd. Service is very attentive and the old ambience of the place adds to the charme. If you want to bring a cake to a dinner, they also come beautifully packaged.

I really wanted to like it but it wasn’t a great experience, the staff seemed stressed and rushed and so we felt rushed and then they were out of what we both ordered (regular croissant and mini pound cake). I tried the pistachio croissant but it was too sweet and rich for me. Mainly the dine in experience wasn’t great but I’d go back for plain croissants to go

My favorite coffee in Recoletta! They have the best homemade almond milk in the area and their flat whites are to die for. The California sandwich is essentially the same as Kyoto sandwich, a bit underwhelming for the price, but the cinnamon roll was totally worth it. Overall, it’s crazy that a good coffee would cost you almost 7dollars (even San Francisco doesn’t have those prices) but it’s not them to blame.

Pretty good coffee, but not great. Especially not for the price. I know it’s specialty coffee, but I feel like it’s hard to justify asking €3,80 for a double espresso. Especially when coming from the Netherlands, that has ridiculous prices overal but where the most famous cafes/roasters in Amsterdam (one of the most expensive cities in Europe) are still cheaper than this….

The owner charged me 2 USD for one small medialuna the size of my palm. It’s beyond poor etiquette and I hope he rethinks his actions. I saw him “do the maths” and feign that the medialuna is cost 2 USD. Meanwhile, afterwards, I had two better bigger medialunas for 300 pesos.

The pan de miga sandwich was ok. I was expecting a higher quality for the price. I think this place is a bit hipped by influencers. You can definitely find better pan de miga sandwiches elsewhere

A year overdue,but… Best sweet bread I’ve tasted in my entire life. The white chocolate covered alfajor melts in your mouth like butter. Amazing little breadery. They have a small selection of about 6 fixed bread items, and then about 6 fixed pastries; on top of that they usually have one or two wild items that they'll only have for that day. Everything is super tasty! They also serve a coffee which is just ok, but serving coffee seems more like a cheeky addition, rather than an actual product.

Excellent bread freshly delivered daily about 10:30 BUT they are closed Sun-Mon. Some of the breads are made of naturally fermented sourdough and these are the best IMHO. They also have wonderful french pastry cakes, perhaps less healthy then their bread but definitely worth the calories. Very nice staff speaks English.

Bought one pistacchio roll and a nutella + cream roll. Maybe I was too ambitious for expecting to feel any pistacchio or nutella taste, because it didn’t happen. Hands down the best French style laminated pastries in town, but with local flavor twists. The stars of the show are the croissant rolls (aka NY rolls), which you’ll find filled with anything from Nutella, pistachiella or local dulce de leche. Also available as alfa-rolls, as an homage to the local alfajor (dulce de leche filled cookie sandwich). There are only a few tables and a bar, so you can eat in while having a coffee or just take home if there’s no space. Pastries selection changes through the day as items run out, but new different items are replenished fresh.

Went here yesterday, alongside my girlfriend. We had a ham and cheese medialuna, a piece of red velvet cake, a pistachio croissant, and a baguette to take home. To drink, my girlfriend had a latte, and I had a bottled orange drink. The food was, simply put, DELICIOUS. Seriously, this has got to be one of the best bakeries in Buenos Aires (the pistachio croissant, in particular, was amazing). The staff was extremely courteous, which they had to be, because the one downside of this place are the extremely long waiting times: we easily waited over 40 min, between the ordering line and waiting for our food. Granted, the place was packed, and the food was worth it, but the place would be near perfect if they managed to shorten the waiting time.

The coffee was delicious! Flat white was very good. I've always wanted to come here but every time i saw long lines and could never get in. Now they moved to a bigger place so I saw the opportunity to enjoy. I ordered a white chocolate brownie with white chocolate cream and raspberries on top. It was very big and very good. The brownie wasn't very gooey it was more of a fluffy cake. If you're a total fan of raspberry desserts this place is a must. They have lots of options with raspberry which in my case is one of my favorite fruits.

Everything here looks irresistible. I tried the chocolate dulce de leche cake my first time and it was amazing. The second time I went for the pepa de dram Jess and the vanilla/chocolate cookie. The cookie was one of the best I’ve ever had but the pepa was a bit dry. It’s definitely a pricey place, the cake being 13,500 pesos slice but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to try more.

Came to Buenos Aires for business for four days snd this cafe is one of my favorite cafes in the Recoleta area. I ordered the Latte with a Croissant con JYQ and a Yogurt con granola which is probably one of the best I had in the city. My colleague ordered the Flat white with a Scon de queso and a Tostado de Jamon y queso that did not disappoint as well. The service and the vibe of the cafe was great as well!
