Excellent restaurant near the train station, market and the Nile River. We went there twice during our 2 days in Aswan and loved the variety of grilled dishes we tried. Prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Terrible experience. The worst restaurants I have ever been to, the waiters have bad attitude. I understand that it is Ramadan at the moment, but they shouldn't rush us while we are eating, and they try to take the plate away even though we haven't finished everything. It was expensive compared with other Egyptian restaurants. The portions are small, we ordered 3 dishes for 3 of us, which were not enough for any of us, we still needed to Mcdonald's for 2nd meal. If they don't want to serve us or just want to provide the people after Ramadan, they should have told us before we go in.

Makka Restaurant in Aswan is a local favorite, popular among both tourists and residents. Located not far from the Corniche, this simple and unpretentious spot offers fantastic food that more than makes up for its lack of fancy decor. The beef legs soup is a standout, rich and flavorful, and the lamb chops are absolutely delicious, as well as molokhea. For a refreshing drink, don't miss the Karkade. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit!

The bbq chicken is super good and tender! The meat is not dried! It follows with vegetable and rice. For the vegetables, you can change to molokhia on request. The environment of the restaurant is comfortable.

Today 13 of February our nice guide Hassan bring our group of four persons in that really very good place in centrum of Aswan Perfect starters and main dishes, very tasty all of them and good finish with their no so sweet cream caramel From other side very clean inside including comfortable clean toilet and kind stuff Strongly recommend that place for eating having in mind other no so clean and comfortable places in the city

Elphantine Island had a really enjoyable chilled out island vibes with farms, interesting small streets and a gorgeous sunset over the water. Was great to have a pre-sunset dinner at Nubian Dream Restaurant overlooking the water. The team was super friendly and welcoming. Zero pressure, rush or upsell. Food was simple and tasty. Very laid back and nice to relax and play a few rounds of Uno after a day of adventuring around in Aswan and beyond.

I had an incredible experience at Nubian Dreams Restaurant & Cafe. I ordered the camel dish, which was absolutely delicious—flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. It was a true taste of local tradition. What truly made the visit special was the service. Mostafa, who attended to me, was not only attentive and professional but also a great connoisseur of traditional Nubian cuisine. He made sure I had a wonderful experience and even took the time to share stories and tips about the island’s tourist spots, adding a personal and cultural touch to the meal. The location of the restaurant is simply magical. Perched on a height overlooking the Nile River, it offers a breathtaking view, especially at sunset. It’s conveniently located right next to the boat terminal, which makes it very accessible for travelers. Wonderful experience there. Very nice view on the Nile. Very friendly staff. Delicious food. Very good prices too. Even if the preparation of the dishes takes a little time. Be patient and enjoy the place.

Trust me, if you come to Elephant Island, you must visit this restaurant! It’s cheap and delicious. The owner does all the cooking, so it might not be super fast, but the amazing food is absolutely worth the wait! Just order a beer, sit back, enjoy the view of the Nile River, and your mood will instantly brighten up!

Three of us visited here for lunch to relax by the waterside. The view from our table was unobstructed over looking the Nile, the beers were cold, prices were very reasonable, and the food was incredibly delicious. For the 3 of us we shared the following dishes which came with a big pot of delicious rice: -Grilled chicken with lemon -Nubian Vegetable Tagine with Meat -Aubergine Bechamel Tagine Service was great and spoke English. We had dinner with some drinks, it was a beautiful view looking east over the Nile at sunset. The food was very tasty, you could tell it was made from scratch, and the service was very kind. Would definitely recommend if you are on the island

Amazing experience, we liked it very much. We had the nubian breakfast that was served in pottery, it was very delicious, and we liked the bread very much. We also had the nubian dessert with tea afterward. The place has a good view on the Nile. To get there, you should take the ferry that is next to KFC. The cost is 10 for all nationalities as for the time I wrote this review (July 2025), when you get to the other side there will be stairs on the right, that's the entrance. The breakfast took a long time to prepare. They even wrote that on the menu, but as soon as you try it, you'll know that it's worth waiting. I am very happy with the experience!

Dined here during our stay in Aswan. It’s located on the 13th floor of the hotel and has a beautiful Panaromic view of the city facing Nile. We started off with bread basket. Breads were a bit dry. There were very few vegetarian appetizer and nothing particularly appealing. We ordered veggie penne pasta and pea risotto for main course. Pasta was flavorful but only a little less cooked. Pea risotto was delicious. The portions were filling. We got Key lime pie for dessert and it was a bit disappointing. The manager quickly replaced it with crème brûlée. The service was generally great, just a bit slower. Overall, the food was great compared to other options available in the town. Great date night place. Recommend!

A Wonderful Dining Experience at Mövenpick Aswan The panoramic restaurant on the 13th floor of Mövenpick Resort Aswan offers breathtaking views of the Nile and Aswan’s beauty. The food was delicious, with a great selection of dishes, and our waiter, Ahmed, provided excellent service, making the evening truly special. A must-visit for anyone in Aswan!

Service is incredible. I went to restaurant tower two days ago and just after two days of recovery my health I can write that I was sick for 2 days, maybe the fish with risotto I took was not good or maybe the fresh butter done with milk caused some issue into my stomach. After some hours I started to felt cold, sick and weak! Only drunk water for the 2 days after and a lot of diarrea, sleeping 16 hours per day. Now I'm back on track and ensure Movenpick will check on it!

Delicious spot. Views were awesome and we had the place to ourselves! Loved the lamb shank and duck. Risotto was also delicious. Great prices, around 35-40 usd per person with drinks. Have to boat to this location, even if you’re staying on the island.

Food was below pair. We lived at the elephantine island, and the local food from the local places was much better, and much cheaper. All the meat they had was overcooked and close to uneatable (we could not eat it at least). Price was $70 for a very horrible buffet. Nice view though.

Since when is added services charges been a thing anywhere in Egypt on top of tax already. If you are by your self forget it as there is a minimum charge also that they fail to tell you about when entering. Money grabbing tourist trap.

This place was recommend for lunch by our tour guide and it was worth the recommendation. The food was very good in quality and flavour, the ambience is well set with a good view of the nile and it's tributaries. Very good service too, based on your taste or need, they do suggest from the menu what suits the best. Worth a try while you are in Aswan. One can also enjoy the locally brewed coffee that's fresh and refreshing.

Nice location, good view, you need the boat to arrive at the restaurant. The grilled fish and beef stool were delicious. Lemon juice with peppermint was great. By the way, the drink may be over charge for the foreigners.

It is located in the middle of the Nile with an amazing view and premium location 👌. The welcome is very warm and the service is very friendly, they also have good menu. The food was so 🫣 disappointing in terms of taste and quality, maybe because the place was empty. Overall experience is below average.

I went with mango juice, lentil soup and grilled chicken with fries, the mango juice was good, the lentil soup was good, when the chicken arrived, I found a hair in my fries, the chicken was well cooked but not seasoned very well, the fries were ok. I then went to pay, and they charged me 800 Egyptian pounds, not sure if service charge was included but it was more than I thought it was. Friendly staff and a welcoming place but let down my the food and hair in the food, and a possible over charging.

Recommend a visit to this restaurant on a little island next to Elephantine Island. Getting to the restaurant is easy via a free boat service run by the restaurant accessed from a small dedicated pier opposite the Egypt Air office in central Aswan. Good view of the temple on the island across one of the channels. Very welcoming staff and would really recommend the koftas, they were superb. The Baba Ganouj was very tasty.

This place is situated on an island with a beautiful view of the Nile. However, the food is quite average. It’s likely a tourist trap with overpriced food.

I recently visited Eldoka, and overall, it was a good experience. The atmosphere was nice, and the location is perfect, especially with the amazing Nile view. The salads were really delicious and fresh. However, the taste and portions of the main dishes, especially the grilled chicken, could be improved. The portions were a bit small, and the flavor didn’t quite meet expectations. Also, some meat dishes weren’t available, except for the kofta, which was a bit disappointing. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the boat, which wasn’t ideal. It would be great if they could schedule and announce the boat trips so customers don’t have to wait so long. In general, Eldoka is a good place, but with a few improvements, it could be even better.

Absolutely disgusting and dishonest. While visiting this restaurant I found a dead cockroach in the bathroom — completely unacceptable for any place that serves food. To make matters even worse, after I had already paid my bill, the waiter shamelessly tried to rip me off by charging me extra. This is not just poor hygiene and terrible management, it is a complete lack of integrity. If a restaurant cannot maintain basic cleanliness and allows staff to treat customers this way, it deserves zero stars. Save yourself the disappointment (and possible health risk) and go literally anywhere else.

I had a very tasty sish tawook (grilled pieces of chicken) dish here with chips that was great. It took a bit long for the dish to come but the staff were very apologetic about it. The only downside is the lack of card payment at lunchtime - bring cash!

Perhaps it was just the day I went. The food was subpar. The chicken was extra dry, the steak was well done and rubbery. Portion size was no where near the 300g of chicken and steak. I don’t think I got my money’s worth. I had to go to McDonald’s down the block to get a fill 🫤

We loved the view of the Nile from the outdoor dining area downstairs. We sat in really cozy chairs and enjoyed babaganoush as a starter, then fish kebab which they serve with choice of rice or fries. The food was simple but really nice!

We made the unfortunate decision to try pigeon here. It wasn’t that good but my husband ended up getting it extreme food poisoning. He was not well for two days after eating this which really affected his trip. I also got a little sick afterwards, but his was much worse than mine.

This place has one thing going for it. The view and atmosphere. It's a nice cafe with good weather, nice drinks and well priced items. Just make sure to ask exactly what is in the items you're ordering. We got a couple of pizzas which were mediocre at best. Again great view, mid food.

The English menu is twice as expensive as the Arabic one. After we asked for the Arabic menu to order, they still charged us the high price at the checkout. When we asked to change the bill, the male waiter of the restaurant loudly tapped the chair with the menu to show his dissatisfaction. In the end, the menu price they gave us was still not completely correct and they charged us 200 Egyptian pounds as service fee for the 700 Egyptian pounds we spent. The service in any other restaurant in Egypt is better than theirs. When we pointed out the incorrect price, several male waiters made us feel in danger at 11:30 p.m. At the same time, when I ordered food, a lot of dish they don’t have and also finally we had to wait for almost one and a half hours for the final dishes.

Aswan Moon Cafe, once a popular spot along the Nile Corniche for its beautiful river views and relaxed setting, has unfortunately changed in a way that makes it no longer suitable for families or female visitors. While the cafe does have a valid license to serve alcohol, the atmosphere has shifted dramatically. A growing number of guests now openly consume alcohol throughout the day, creating an environment that many find uncomfortable and even unsafe, especially for women and families. The once-cozy and peaceful vibe has been replaced by a setting that feels far less welcoming for those looking for a quiet meal or coffee by the Nile. Service remains slow, and some guests have reported a lack of hospitality from the staff. Additionally, a mandatory 50 EGP service charge is applied to bills regardless of order size, which some customers find unfair. While the views are still impressive, the overall atmosphere has changed for the worse. As a result, Aswan Moon Cafe is no longer recommended for families or women looking for a comfortable and safe place to relax. There are many other spots along the Corniche that offer a better experience without these concerns.

Very dirty from the tables, to the dishes. Very old oil used to fry the food and food with to much fat.

Most important to notice, that waiters’ english is quite bad. When we came we asked if it’s possible to pay by card, he said that’s not possible, but we can pay by euros/dollars and he reassured us, that he would have change for our mentioned sum. When we wanted to pay he refused to take given euros cause he hasn’t got change and refused to take coins. He didn’t suggest any option just left us to come with solution.

We ate delicious Chicken Tajin and grilled pigeon. The staff is very friendly. The views on the floating restaurant are incredible. In front of the restaurant there are many Felucca drivers that want to sell you a ride. But they are very friendly and a no is enough.

This place was recommended by a couple of locals as the best seafood place. Not an understatement, food was delish we chose our fresh fish and how we’d like them to cook it. Everything was spot on the extra salads and dips were delicious. If ever in Aswan I defo recommend this place.

Food is good but not honest in payment method. Asked before order if card is acceptable. Confirmed three times can pay by credit card. When pay for the bill, say only cash accepted. Need to find an ATM to take cash out to settle the payment. Hard feeling for such dishonesty

Someone recommended this place to us for the best fish in Aswan. Not sure if it was the best but it was good enough that I recommend it now as well :) We ordered several fish from the Aswan dam and some seafood. Everything was fresh, delicious but nothing was out of the ordinary. The tahini and baba ganush on the side were one of the best I had in Aswan. The seating arrangement and the interior could have been better. Recommend for fishy dishes :)

A delicious and a huge meal. You can try local Nile tilapias 3 ways - grilled, fried and in a casserole. They are all yummy and come with rice and a selection of salads and spreads with pita bread. It's a little pricier but totally worth it.

Usually I'm writing only a very good or very bad comments. And this time unfortunately we faced a not nice place, indeed I should be attentive to bad reviews. As today it was really True! Poor atmosphere, toilet was dirty. Service as well was not welcoming. Food was nothing special, only sea-food soup was really good. The rest is just average. But the price!!!! Almost 800 Le!! We ate previous days 2-3times less price and were completely full and completely satisfied with food and service. Today first time we feel that it will be nice to eat something else, as portions were really small. Highly not recommended!

I've seen people in the kitchen prepare the food with care. The staff was very friendly. But more importantly, the food was delicious, the meal I had was perfect. Definitely try the dates tart and the lemon mint. They were really fresh.

No hidden fees/tips We enjoyed the burger, chicken, wraps, chicken liver, and more. Coffee is great, frappe's are great. As a family of 4, we had 4 meals, juices, and frappes/coffees for 800 to 1000 EGP. Bargin. Would go back again again.. if we could!

Horrible . Mixed grill was as stone . Even the Rice. 10people, could not eat a bite. Manager did not do anything and even charged 3big bottle of waters and did not say" sorry for everything water is on us". He just shrugged his shoulders. I am a tour leader and been in this business for a long time. In Egypt people are careless I know but neşter the rest or the agency took the Blake. Don't waste your time

Great restaurant!! This place is cheap, delicious and very aesthetically appealing. The prices are very very reasonable, my family and I all got 1 main dish, smoothies, extras and even desserts and the total price per person was 10 USD per person. This way not sound very cheap but we ate a lot. We got seated just in front of the huge window outlooking the Nile River and since we went during golden hour, the sun. All the food was great, I recommend the chicken sandwich. One bad thing about this place is that the service is a bit slow. And the most important thing was that they didn’t accept credit card, which I found a little confusing. We ended up paying in dollars since we didn’t have any local money. But overall, this restaurant is great and we will definitely be returning.

Don’t come here unless you like bone dry bad food that takes 1 hour to come. We came to this spot with our family after getting excited by the reviews. We didn’t know that there was a change in management. We ordered shishkabab, burger, chicken thigh, fried rice and drinks — everything highly recommended by the reviews. It all came horrible. After more than an hour of wait, the food was not worth the wait. The beef is dry like the desert. The worst restaurant we’ve had in Aswan and Egypt. Avoid at all cost!

Not to recommend for vegetarians. The taste itself is not bad, but the portions are too small and the price is completely exaggerated for that. I left hungry. It made me sad to see that the women is alone in the kitchen and has all the work. I feel so sorry because it is definitely not her fault.

Our host Mohamed and his cousin are always ready to help you, with very affordable prices, at any time and always with a nice and sincere smile. Mustafa (who owns this place) studied tourism and service at university. It shows, in his friendly, efficient, and lovely atmosphere of the hotel. The pick up service (from the ferry dock), the check in and check out routine, the cleanliness of the room, and the delicious food are all excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel and restaurant.

We have just eaten some wonderful food at the Basmatic restaurant. Great view from the terrace over the Nile. There are mouth watering smells from the kitchen as everyone's food is freshly prepared. Today we had some wonderful lentil soup and a Chicken tanjin, the tanjin is served with a potato dish, rice and a fresh salad, the taste was amazing. The staff are fantastic, friendly and give tips on what to see around the island.

I went here on my first night staying on Elephantine island and had the fish and vegetable tagine. It was so good I came back and had it again the next night. The very popular restaurant nearby is big, busy and loud but Bob Marley restaurant is quieter, relaxed, with amazing Nile views. The staff are lovely. Food is fabulous. If you’re staying on the mainland it’s so easy to get here by public ferry in under 5 mins and they run until midnight.

Best views on the Island - If you love the sun this is a great place to come to. The roof terrace has the full sun in the day and in the evening a beautiful view of the nile river and the city. Fantastic place to relax and unwind.

Loved this place. The atmosphere, food and its very gracious hosts made our dinner here a memorable one. The Home cooked camel Tagline is worth the visit alone, but the entire experience was great and I would highly recommend.

Have you ever had a night out where everything went perfectly? Tonight was unforgettable at 1902. Stepping back in time my wife and I enjoyed the grand and opulent location in the Old Cataract. Five stars from us. The phenomenal food and friendly service made us feel right at home. The maitre’d even took THE coolest pictures of us at the piano!

Went for my birthday celebrations - easily one of my favourite nights out in Egypt. The fish? Incredible. The dessert? Wow. And the live pianist? Unreal. Everything felt special.

Advertised as a gourmet restaurant, here are the facts: You have to walk through a hallway of "celebrities" to reach the restaurant. Very outdated; it's been a long time since any celebrities have been here. Upon arrival, you are required to wear a jacket and are then directed to tables numbered like in a fast food restaurant. What a contrast! The gourmet bread served: brioche. The tap water is not drinkable, so a bottle of water will cost you €9. What a rip-off! The service is not that of a gourmet restaurant. The beef fillet I ordered rare arrived well done. The presentation of the plates is simplistic. The pianist adds something, but it feels more like attending a concert than listening to background music. The restaurant is outdated, the seats are dirty, and the candle holders with electric candles are outdated. The only thing gourmet about this restaurant is the price, certainly not the service or the food. Don't waste your money; instead, go to the terrace to enjoy the view and have breakfast at Le 1902 instead. It will be less painful.

It is not our habit to leave bad reviews, but after months of planning and looking forward to this experience, the menu we were offered was awful. The inedible seafood was not fresh and the lamb was overcooked and impossible to eat. The staff are nice, but the food is not worth their efforts. One in our party ate the dessert, but overall, we hoped for much better from such a venerable fine dining establishment. Perhaps ordering a la carte would have been better than going for the prix fixe, but one will never know. Travelers tip—stick with The Terasse or one of the restaurants at the hotel where people are dining over the much lauded 1902, which had only one other group of diners in addition to us throughout the evening. The hotel itself is absolutely amazing and overall we enjoyed our time. One other thing to note—cocktails are $26 each (ouch!).

Superb original room. Dated menu - not really a French restaurant - nor is it interesting. Good service. Go for the experience of dining in this great historic room (albeit stuffy), not for the food.

Excellent warm and timely service, but the food was widely ranging in quality. The cold mezze plate was very disappointing. The batata harra and mixed kofta platter were excellent, as were the 3 soups we tried. The stuffed zucchini was decent but not the best I’ve had. The prices reflect the location in a ritzy resort, but I’m not sure the value of the meal reflected the final bill.

We got food poisoning from the chicken skewers and pretty much all the dishes were not fresh, probably a couple days old. The food was sub par, a lot of rice and little to no meat, especially the stuffed pigeon, it was all rice with pigeon skin and bones

The food was really good, nice moment. Ibrahim, our server, was attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. Definitely recommend !

We're a little bit disappointed. The food was just the average. Their service doesn't reach our expectations especially waiters. I felt that they don't perform as a professional. It was a bit hard for us to communicate with them because of the English. Having a dinner at 5 star hotel was no value at tuis restaurant.

I give this three stars because the restaurant is not where Google indicates, which is in the OLD Movenpick but the restaurant is actually in the NEW Movenpick that is way further. Google needs to update the location. We were staying outside the hotel at a guest house on Elephantine Island and got so lost following google directions. We ended up asking a local whom showed us the back way by Ibiza restaurant to get into the hotel. To make matters worse, we then had to go through a gate with security who thought we were trespassing. Following that, we had to ask a staff who then told us Mezze is in the new hotel and we were going to wrong direction. Not great for getting to the restaurant if you are not staying at the Movenpick. Food and service was delicious though.

We recently visited Egypt for about 10 days including a stop at this restaurant. We had been in Egypt for three or four days by this point, and were a bit more familiar with the cuisine and dining experiences. That being said, this particular restaurant impressed us even more. The venue was Exquisite, overlooking the Nile River. We came in early evening, and the waiter and service were superb. We chose a couple of local dishes, which were prepared to perfection. The amount of food was astronomical, we actually saved it for two more meals after this dining experience. Our time in Egypt encouraged us to utilize the hotel experiences. This again followed this trend, and they provided local flavor and dishes, exquisite Egyptian service, and yet still provided a high quality dining ambiance as well. I would highly recommend stopping at this restaurant if visiting as one. It is definitely worth the 5-minute boat ride to the middle of the Nile.

Great local food with friendly, honest staff. We ate here four times during our stay in Aswan. There is an English menu but prices seem to match the Arabic menu (no hugely inflated tourist prices here) and are very fair. The tahini is amazing (maybe the best in Egypt!)

Not dirt cheap but a local place with good food. Couple of staff speak English. English / Arabic menu available. Had fish soup, stuffed pigeon, beans, rice, with small salad and tahini side. Asked for "today's veg" as a side also. This did two of us nicely. Postscript: been back twice since I wrote the above. It is clear that a number of local cafes/eateries have switched onto the opportunity that tourists give them. Same food, but at higher prices (two menus, one in Arabic, the other in English). A cheat really. So we kept coming back here. My wife felt comfortable here too.

Best grill restaurant in Aswan, tourist friendly, great hospitality and most importantly fair local prices for everyone. I can't recommend enough. Keep up the good work. 👍

Not meaning to be rude, but this place is hard to find and when you see it (particularly if a soft westerner like me who is careful where they eat overseas) may be somewhere you skip. Don't. We really only went in as our guide insisted, thank goodness for him. It clean and the food was probably the best that we had in Egypt.

Where local people go to eat. Kofta is nice, lamb has not much flavor. In general not bad!
