A small place, a little hidden. But amazing food! We went yesterday a little early. Only got to pick chicken or vegetarian. They come out with different bowls of delicious prepared veggies and meat. A kind young man gave good service! Definitely would recommend!

Great place to eat local food ! We ordered the vegetarian lunch and everything was delicious. There was no menu but the personnel spoke English and a bit of Dutch even. Overall a great experience! We highly recommend it !

Best food we had in Sri Lanka! The restaurant is a quiet place with delicious local food. We had the 7 vegetable curries and the buffalo curd and loved it. The service by Uindu was perfect! He was very charming and explained a lot about the typical food. All together we had a very nice evening.

The food was ok but it's overpriced. They have only 2 portion size for dine in. The service charge is extreamly unreasonable... It was 12% !! We were shocked to see that... The fried rice had only a chillie paste as a side dish.. No gravy... Anyone knows to give gravy for a fried rice... And they did not provide hot water when asked... They give bottled water and charge for it. VERY UNSATISFIED with the service.

We had the most terrible experience at Seedevi family Restaurant in Anuradhapura. I went there with my family for dinner. The place was extremely crowded when we arrived. One of our close friends, a well-known businessman in Anuradhapura, had recommended this place. In fact, my friend took us here last year, and everything went smoothly that time — probably because my friend was with us. That day, nothing was impossible. But today was the complete opposite — it was a nightmare. We arrived around 10 PM. Despite the heavy crowd, we managed to find a table on our own. My husband initially tried to place the order at the counter, thinking they would assign us a table afterward. But the man at the cashier told him to go sit and said someone would come to take the order. At that point, we didn’t even have a table, but we finally found one thanks to some kind customers who were leaving and offered it to us. They also advised us to order at the counter, which is apparently how it usually works there. So, we went to the counter again, and the same man told us again to go sit down. We went back to the table and waited for more than 30 minutes — still, no one came. The table was disgusting, still covered with leftovers from the previous customers, and not a single person came to clean it. We patiently waited for about 45 minutes. If it were just the two of us, we would have made a scene and left. But we were with our two big families and didn’t want to risk ending up with no dinner for everyone. There was a man in a white shirt and red tie — we believe he’s Tamil — who kept walking past our table serving others, completely ignoring us. When my father told him we had been waiting over 45 minutes, his sarcastic response was, “Oh okay, I’ll take your order,” and then he vanished. Not a single apology, not even a fake excuse. He just kept walking past our table, refusing to even look at us, acting completely deaf whenever we tried to get his attention. It was so blatantly disrespectful. My father-in-law asked someone to at least clean the table. Finally, a boy came to take the order. But by then, most of the food we wanted was unavailable, and we were told what they wanted to serve us instead. The food we ended up with was salty and unpleasant — not a single person at our table liked it. Maybe it was a Saturday and they were short-staffed, but that’s no excuse for the way we were treated. A little basic courtesy would have gone a long way. But the staff here — except for the lady at the gelato counter — were rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. Frankly, some of them acted like they were doing us a favor by letting us sit there. This place was a disgrace. We are utterly disappointed and disgusted. This is supposed to be a “well-known” restaurant? What a joke. We will never return and we will never recommend Seedevi to anyone. Ever. If you care about decent service, basic hygiene, or respect as a customer, stay far away from this place. It’s nothing but a crowded, chaotic, and badly managed mess :)

I’ve been visiting Seedevi Family Restaurant since 2010, and it remains one of my favourite places in the area. The food has always been consistently delicious, freshly prepared, and full of authentic flavour. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff make you feel genuinely welcome every time. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and perfect for family dining. Over the years, I’ve seen many restaurants come and go, but Seedevi has maintained its quality and standards with genuine care. An excellent spot for anyone looking for good food and a pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended!

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting — elegant without being pretentious. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel truly welcome. We visited this place after some long time, the place has changed quite a lot since back then in a good way BUT IT WAS A HORRIBLE FOOD EXPERIENCE IN MY WHOLE LIFE. HAD TO WAIT FOR MORE 40 MINS. don't even start about the taste. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE FOR ITS APPEARANCE. Actually not even worth the star.

A very good restaurant in Anuradhapura . We used to come there regularly as the service , quality of the food , cleanliness , being polite to the customers are maintained in the same standard every day.. Sahan did an amazing service for us during the dinner service . Very impressed as he did his job very well with a smily face. Excellent service.

A decent hotel at a good spot in Anuradhapura. The hotel has a nice garden and atrium, but the rooms are very outdated; lamps not working, cramped shower, curtain rails broken. The AC worked and the bed was fine, which I guess is the most important part. The guy running the place is super friendly and polite. We had dinner here, which was alright, and breakfast, which was very standard (toast, tea, jam, omelet, fruits). We went to the temples in the morning and could leave our bags in the room, which was very nice of them. The service makes this place.

The room and the design was basic but it did the trick. There's space on the balcony and terrace to chill in the evenings. The breakfast was plenty and delicious. City center is only a few minutes by Tuktuk but still good to reach on foot. The receptionists were very helpful and gave good tips for food and activities for exploring the town. Also when the AC was out in our room one of the receptionists fixed the problem in just 5 minutes!

The hotel is quite a distance from the main town. The room was ok and clean. The breakfast was poor- have had far better and more generous in much cheaper hotels in Sri Lanka. So overall poor marks for hospitality.

This place is located in the town. Just 500m to the hospital and very easy to get to the sacred places in Anuradhapura from here. Decent place with decent people. They will provide you food and drinks if you expect it. And they have a bar as well. Nice rooms with AC, attached bathrooms and TV. A good place to stay while traveling all the places in Anuradhapura.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 days and my experience was pretty bad. The rooms were fine but there was cockroach in the bathroom and ants on the bad Hotel staff tries to cheat you of money and they also misbehave While asking them to look for transport for Sightseeing they would support taxi driver with the price being quoted even though that was triple the market rate Also when on final day when they gave me my overall bill they put a 10 % service charge on my room rent which did not make any sense. When i confronted them, they argued saying this is how they do it. Also one of the stafd told me this "Mr you keep quite, i am seeing you speak a lot since yesterday Overall rude Staff and bad experience Wifi was not working properly and no online payment facility.

Had dinner here last night. Great food, great service. Prices aren't too bad, local food is better value. We were a table if 4 and enjoyed both options. Rice and curry was delicious with a generous serving size. Enjoyed a nice cold beer after cycling around (and to the restuarant), which was served in a good glass. Pasta was great as was the deviled sausages - almost like a chorizo which was great. Would definitely visit again.

Definetely try this delicious Indian food, It's one of the best we've had. The service however was not good. Very uninterested, offering me desserts while my girlfriend was still eating and some more small things that did not make me feel comfortable. I think if they improve their service its one of the best rastaurants here.

Delicious food, clean atmosphere, and well maintained washrooms, which is much appreciated. Good customer service and friendly staff. It does get quite busy during peak hours so you might have to wait for a table, but the staff work hard to seat you quickly. Food wait time is short compared to other restaurants, which is impressive given how busy it gets. p.s. Chocolate chip cookies at the bakery here are soooo good

What a pleasant place! Had their casserole special rice! The best meal has ever in Anuradhapura. Was full of different kinds of meat options including chicken, pork, seafood, beef and delicious rice! Fair enough for the three of us. But can he recommend to any 4 potions very easily. The service also very much appreciated! Best place to get a superb experience around Anuradhapura.

There are adequate parking spaces available both roadside and underground. The restaurant is located on the first floor, and access is stairs and no lifts available. Usually, there is no waiting, but at times, there is some waiting time, and there is a waiting area. The restaurant is quiet and calm place. Clean and tidy. Staff is friendly. About 15 to 20 minutes waiting for the food. It's a good place for a quick lunch or dinner at Anuradhapura, one of the best places. Good service. Take away food also available.

Lovely restaurant with great food, the hoppers were excellent. A cosy atmosphere with live acoustic music. The service was good, the waiters were good however it was noted that it could take a bit of time for food to arrive if the restaurant was packed.

Tucked away in a little side street, Palhena is a true hidden gem. Dining in their green front garden felt magical, with friendly service that immediately made us feel at home. The local dishes were absolutely delicious and I can’t stop thinking about their watalappam dessert, it was finger-licking good! Add the touch of live music and you get an experience that’s both cozy and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone in the area.

The food portion was insanely big, we ordered their signature dish for two but couldn’t finish it. This is great if you’re looking to cut your meal budget and share with 3–4 friends. Be careful and always ask for a printed bill! I visited this shop and the lady cashier tried to charge me Rs. 4000 for a bill that was actually Rs. 2800. When I asked for a bill, she started writing it by hand. Then I requested a detailed bill with item prices, and another staff member came and billed it properly — the correct total was Rs. 2800. Always ask for a printed bill that shows the price of each item before you pay. 👎

Wonderful local cafeteria style eatery with lovely helpful staff who can explain the various dishes - and at amazing affordable prices. Very busy with locals and just on the edge of town on the main road - bring a torch if walking in from elsewhere in town. Does not sell alcohol but good selection of soft drinks. We had mainly vegetarian with one chicken dish and all 4 of us give it a big thumbs up!

Very disappointing experience. The lady running the place is extremely pushy and doesn’t let you order what you actually want. Instead, she insists on choosing the dishes for you, which makes dining here very uncomfortable. We came to enjoy a meal of our choice, not to be told what we have to eat. Definitely not a welcoming or customer friendly atmosphere.

Hotel Shalini is fairly central and easy to reach the center and main interest points from with a bike. The room we were assigned it was quite old and smelly but overall clean enough. Breakfast was too expensive for what we actually got and we also had to pay 1300 Rs per person per day to rent a bike which is a lot more compared to other places (especially considering that it’s a hotel service). Overall, we found the place to be very expensive for what we got and compared to other places in Sri Lanka.

We had dinner at Hotel Shalini. The owner (at least we believe) was very friendly and helpful in making us some recommendations. Eventually, we had a couple of rice & curry. Everything was very tasty and well cooked. We surely recommend this place for an authentic Sri Lankan dinner. At the end he also served us some fresh fruits which we appreciated very much

On the night of January 12, my wife and my children went to Anuradhapura for a 3-day holiday, and the hotel that we had previously paid for was given to another group at a higher price. Knowing that it is difficult to suddenly find rooms in Anuradhapura hotels due to a 03-day vacation, I visited more than 20 hotels with my children but could not find a suitable room. By now it was past 9:00 PM. In a very awkward situation, I went to Shalini Hotel Anuradhapura where all the rooms were sold out. However, seeing the discomfort I was with the children, the manager and the owner of the hotel prepared a room for us all to be comfortable in a very short time and did not charge any extra money for it. Usually, hotels charge a lot of money in that kind of situation and it was confirmed that the manager and the owner of Shalini Hotel are really important people full of humanity and humanity is more valuable than money. This incident will be well understood by those who can understand the state of mind when a father moves to another city with 04 children and his wife and has no room to stay for the night. Although I stated that I would like to pay more for the room for that night, they said that they do not want to charge extra money, but my request was rejected. In a society that will do anything for money, you will find beautiful people with humanity at heart at Shalani Hotel Anuradhapura. All I can do is appreciate them. Anyone coming to Anuradhapura should go to Shalani Hotel without fear. You will meet real people.🙏

Impulsively went to Hotel Shalini, ended up staying for 3 days. Siril was super nice (and a great cook), helped us with a great guide + tuk tuk driver for seeing temples and safari (even though we made the decision very last minute, he went out of his way to help us make it happen). The rooms are clean and have everything one would need (warm water, good ac etc.) All in all very satisfied with our stay

I had a dinner with my wife and friends in the Shalini Restaurant at October 2025; the owner was very friendly, the main dishes (all local) were good and “large”, the price low. Absolutely recommended

Had the best time here in this beautiful hotel! The service was amazing, they were so helpful at all times, always available and providing information! We received fresh and delicious watermelon juice on arrival and they carried up all our bags. The room was beautiful and so clean and well equiped, great air con, complimentary bars of soap and towels. We had breakfast and dinner both nights we stayed because the food was delicious!! They also had a tuk tuk driver (Mohammed we love you!!) who organized a days worth of activities for us and brought us around to loads of different beautiful places! He even brought us into the town when we arrived for free. Absolutely loved our stay here and didn't want to leave! Highly highly recommend:) thank you!!

This hotel had an amazing ambience however the food that we tried was not good. The staff was really kind and amazing. They were very quick with the service. We ordered omelette which was good. The vegetable sandwich was terrible-it was bombarded with mayo which made it too sweet to eat. Even the chicken sandwich was below average. The fresh juice and cappuccino was alright.

I ordered the seafood 🪰noodles and got bamboozled. For something called seafood, I expected at least a respectable showing from the ocean. Instead, I got a sad pile of rice and veggies with two, yes I counted. tiny shrimp that looked like they lost a fight with a magnifying glass. I’ve seen more shrimp in a bag of frozen fried rice from the gas station. And speaking of creatures… there were more flies 🪰 in the restaurant than shrimp in my dish. I’m not exaggerating. I swatted away enough flies to qualify for a black belt in pest control. One of them almost sat down and joined me for dinner- I think it ordered the same thing, and probably got more protein than I did. Honestly, if you’re craving seafood, just lick a salt rock and stare at a Google image of a lobster. You’ll be less disappointed and far less harassed by airborne freeloaders. Would not recommend. Unless you’re a fly. Then it’s probably a five-star experience 🪰

A wannabe Western-looking place with a not entirely bad atmosphere, but we saw a waiter open a beer with his teeth for a guest in the kitchen – not exactly Western. We had our dinner at Bro. We ordered bro special rice, normal chicken koththu, starberry and mixed fruit mojito and chocolate shake. Their main dishes were quite good. But I really do not recommend the drinks.

The staff at Bro Restaurant are very friendly and welcoming, which makes the dining experience pleasant. The place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. However, I wasn’t fully satisfied with the food. I ordered the biriyani, but they served it with the same crispy chicken that is usually given with fried rice, which was a bit disappointing. Also no parking facilities however you can park in the road. That being said, these are minor issues and overall the restaurant is still good. With a few improvements to the menu, it can be even better. I can recommend this place if you’re in Anuradhapura and looking for a decent spot to eat.

Soooo good! Really fresh rice and curry lunch! We saw lots of locals eating here so you know it's a good place. Lots of tables to choose from, owners/staff are super welcoming and explained all the different options. Very good value compared to other rice and curry restaurants in this city, 480 rupees for a plate and a sprite! Highly recommend this place, we went twice in a row!

Simply delicious and so friendly! Rice and 5 or 6 different veggie curries including banana flower, brinjal, okra, onion... all so fresh and served up on a lotus leaf, for 300/350 rupees (not exactly sure as we had.drinks too). We had seconds too included in the price. It was so good we went back the next day too :)

Spacious modern local restaurant. Dine in and takeaway options are available. They have many varieties according to the price list but in rush hours you’ll find only the popular dishes.. limited parking available but you can always park along side the road because traffic is very not that heavy. This place has somewhat different appeal comparing with other market peers..

We always got something for breakfast in the morning and then went into the city, it was very tasty. One evening we also stopped there spontaneously and were surprised by the good food. We had Kottu Roti and it was very tasty, it was prepared fresh in front of our eyes. Really excellent and highly recommended. For two of us with two drinks we paid just under 2000 LKR, great!

One of the best places in Anuradhapura, the guy who makes the fried rice is amazing. Makes a great pork fried rice. The mixed kottu is also good. We prefer taking the food home but it seems to be a nice dine in place. Nice staff m, works quickly. Will 100% go again.

Dine-in and takeaway of various kind of food including bakeries. Delicious food and I would say prices are low compared to many this kind of restaurants in Anuradhapura. Customer service need to improve, specially in take-away for bakeries. Place is clean and seems maintaining properly. Another drawback is the parking right at the junction, limited space as this place is very popular among the local community.

We had our lunch here and it was absolutely delicious! The food was warm, flavourful, and had a comforting, rustic touch, just like a homemade meal from the countryside. The staff were extremely friendly and wore masks the entire time, which we appreciated. The restaurant is rated A grade, and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Ambula Food Court is located near Anuradhapura city. The place looked nice, but we didn’t dine in and just got takeaway. They offer rice and curry, fried rice, and kottu options. The food was tasty and the prices were reasonable.

Visited for a quick lunch... When we visited around 3, by the time the rice and curry was finished, as they said other items were available. We ordered seafood fried rice. And it came quickly as the service was good. The taste of the rice was above okay. Not much good as I expected. We wanted a fruit juice and nothing was available than soft drinks. The view and the ambiance were fantastic and artistic.

They WERE good when they started this. Be careful when paying the bills, they are bit tricky and charge for large portions though we asked for the regular one. Other than that food is OK. prices of items are reasonable. Some staff members are good but not all. Place is good. Have plenty of space for family gatherings also.

This is a hidden gem to dine in in Anuradhapura. We went there on one of my friends recommendation and I would never regret on my decision. Food are delicious and there is a great variety. Pork curry is s must to taste. Entire place depicts an ancient Sinhalese village. Staff are friendly and helpful. Until you go inside you don't see you beauty of the place since it is not much visible to the road.

I tried Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Cheese Kottu. Both were amazingly delicious. It's a busy restaurant so it takes quite some time to prepare food. There were cats in the upstairs so be careful.

Quite a late review after multiple visits both dine in and takeaway. (So this is a bunch of visits compacted into one) The restaurant is quite spacious and it's very silent. You can enjoy your meal in peace. What I have tried Chicken biriyani Chicken submarine Chicken noodles Masala pot (not sure about the name) Choco Crush and pretty much all the mojitos. The chicken biriyani as the pictures show have been consistent in both looks and taste. One of the best if you are into biriyani. The chicken noodles are moderately spicy but that's how I like them. Compared to most options available here this is totally worth it. The chicken submarine is what I tried the first time from this place and I'm totally happy with it as I always say a sub should have a lot of meat while having enough veggies and this does have those. The masala pot was tasty no complaints there. Had a lot of chicken included in it. While advertised as one portion it was actually enough for 2. Out of the drinks the blue lagoon mojito is very consistent and you can't go wrong with it. My favorite was the mixed dark mojito however while it was perfect the first time I ordered it the second time the taste was different and the trend continued. Not that it was bad but sometimes when they get it right it's perfect. Finally I've also tried their buffet about twice and I found the rice and curry to be quite tasty. Overall one of the best places where you get your money's worth. Also need to mention that they take some time to get your order done. (Nothing is pre cooked apparently according to the owner. Which is good)

It is a very good place to have sri lankan rice and curry. They have many options such as tank fish, chicken, fish, eggs for a reasonable price. I bought fish rice amd curry and it was 400/=. You can add kadala, noodles and some other items as value added services. For dessersts you can have yogurt, curd from there. It is type of buffet and if you are not full you can ask for more without paying any. Food also delicious and spicy.

One of the few restaurants in Anuradhapura serves a lunch buffet with ‘waw malu’. Meals are served on a plate with a lotus leaf. Overcrowded at weekends. But need to be concerned about the space and structure of the restaurant to create a good atmosphere

We tried the fries with cheese, fish sticks and a burger. It tasted fine, especially if you are looking for a break for Sri Lankan food. Portions are not really big -> burger with 8 fries . We would not really go again, since we like the local food more. Pricer are higher since it really is not a local place.

So I tried this place and it's nice. The atmosphere here is nice and the overall presentation is very good. We tried the bubble tea and some pineapple juice, fish fingers and some Korean fried chicken waffles. which was excellent. Portion size could have been better but not much of an issue. Next we got some Chicken loaded fries and a quesadilla....again it was good. Finally I got a classic chicken 6 inch submarine and tacos. The tacos were fine however the submarine which only had onions and chicken in it (if I had opted out of onions I would just have got bread and chicken) was not upto standards at all. I came here expecting what other customers have posted and it was not even close to what was offered earlier.

Genuinely a good place if your looking to stay in Anuradhapura for some time, I recommend staying here if you're looking to stay for more than just one night, there are lots of facilities, and the workers are incredibly kind, they have a nice pool and a 2 billiard tables. The rooms are pretty nice and the family room easily fits around 6 people with 2 kids bunk beds and 2 double beds, there were loads of amenities provided. The actual bedroom is intriguing but seems a bit random with their design, the toilet features a shower and jacuzzi (dont let this heighten your expectations though lol). The food for breakfast is alright but is obviously mainly srilankan food though that isn't a problem the lobby is stunning and you can calmly use the billiards table with your family. And ofc the place is cool with big air conditioning units 🙏🏽

In my short stay to Anuradhapura I came here 3 times, twice in one day - for the vibes of the space, the people and the good food. The customer service is incredible and everyone is very warm, kind and welcoming. Before you even receive your food, you already know its going to be filled with love and made with intention and thats exactly what I experienced. I had three people work on my surprise fruit mix and with the most delicacy and care. Everything I ate here was yummy and great for veggie options. Thank you for having me and hope to visit again!

A Wonderful Experience This place is absolutely wonderful! The owner was incredibly attentive and welcoming, taking the time to explain each dish to us. In my case, he went the extra mile to help me choose gluten-free options (avoiding wheat flour). If I couldn’t eat something from the breakfast menu, he immediately made an effort to replace it with a double portion of something else. Don’t go in a hurry—each dish is carefully prepared, and the wait is definitely worth it. In the meantime, you can enjoy fresh juices and a delicious local porridge included in the breakfast menu. A place you would walk by as a tourist. But this is probably the worst you can do. A real good place. Maybe not as fancy as you would like but the food is marvellous. Tasty, fresh and of good value. Try the rolls or the naan, roti. After lots of restaurants changing to western taste this is the real one. Try it and you Will probably come back more.

Good food and friendly staff but a bit overpriced. We were charged about 50% more than we have been at other places for similar food during our holiday in Sri Lanka. Our fault for not asking the prices when ordering (there is no menu) but still, a word of warning!

I have been to this place twice. Once , I went there for the breakfast and next visit was for lunch. This building belongs to Sri Lanka Army, and earlier , they had their welfare shop here ( google 360 photo is evidence for that ). Now ,this place is not run by Army. New owner is a very friendly person. They have buffet , even for the breakfast with tasty food and a good selection. Ample parking is available with a nice backyard. This is not a cozy place.

A small restaurant located near to the Kumbichchankulama tank with magnificent view of the tank and mind blowing wind which ran across the lake... A gathering place for local crowd in the area, Yalu bodare famous for its Bites and snacks. Further you bring your own liquor and consume it in here without any additional charges ( as at 03/07/2019). The restaurant has a small car parking which can accommodate 3-4 motor cars and several motorcycles.

Visited on tuesday evening in early March - not top of either tourist or local worshiper season. Being only guest present, the order (devilled mushrooms/shrimp, steamed rice) took almost hour. Food was tasty and OK (3 out of 5), place is clean, if slightly depressing. Still, if you want better quality service, beer with your curry or devilled and are ready to pay a little bit more, some of the Hotel restaurants in Anuradhapura will serve you better. And many have garden area, which is more pleasant for long eventings.

It wasn’t there a hotel but there was a french hotel near by. Very disappointed about their this task. We were planning our dinner. If they are not doing the restaurant they should remove it from the maps.

Absolutely Appalling and Disrespectful Service - Ruined Our Group Outing! I am utterly disgusted and disappointed with the horrific reception and disrespectful behavior we experienced at Ambula restaurant today. Having eaten here before and found the food to be acceptable, I unfortunately recommended this place to a bus full of people for our outing. What a colossal mistake that turned out to be! From the moment we arrived, the staff displayed an unbelievable level of rudeness. Their attitude was unwelcoming, dismissive, and frankly, insulting. It felt like we were an immense inconvenience to them rather than paying customers. There was no attempt to accommodate our group, no courtesy extended, and the communication was atrocious. The complete lack of professionalism and respect from the staff was shocking. We were so taken aback by their behavior that we collectively decided to turn around and leave without even ordering. This is the first time I have ever encountered such appalling service that warranted an entire busload of people refusing to dine at an establishment. My previous positive experiences with the food at Ambula are now completely overshadowed by this atrocious encounter. I am beyond embarrassed for recommending this restaurant to my group.

I went to the Ambula restaurant  in Anuradhapura for dinner . Before the meal, the waitress brought two small bottles of water to the table. The price was stated as Rs. 70. However, the bill stated that it was Rs. 150. I have included the relevant photos below. I express my displeasure with the Ambula restaurant  for charging more than double the stated price for bottles of water to drink after the meal. If you are thinking of going to Ambula after seeing this, Think twice before going not only to Ambula but also to the hotels of their same hotel chain, Chami Restaurant, Arachchi Restaurant, White House Restaurant and Ambula Restaurant. Don't be fooled by such fraudsters.

However, I found the pricing of add-ons to be quite high. And 500ml bottle of water with a label price of Rs. 70 was billed at Rs. 150, which felt unreasonably overpriced. Another concern was the unusually strong aftertaste we experienced after the meal. While I’m not entirely sure, it seemed like Ajinomoto or a flavor enhancer such as Knorr powder may have been used, as the taste lingered for quite a while. Overall, while the environment and buffet were satisfying, the high pricing on extras and possible use of flavor enhancers left us with mixed feelings.

Entrance to the restaurant was very dirty. It is really pathetic. Buffet was in enclosed area. When there are busy after serving food guest has to creep through people waiting to serve. Only one sink to wash hand for a restaurant of 60 or more guest. Limited toilet facilities.just place mineral water on the table no glasses provided. When asked glass was given but dirty.

While traveling to Colombo with my family, we were feeling very hungry and decided to stop at Ambula Restaurant. It was the best decision! Foods and meals in cafe mist are little bit salty ..one portion of them is normally enough for two person (specially pasta). They have beverages both fresh juices and cocacola, pepsi etc. Another thing is their poor customer service. They take more time to prepare one meal.. parking is available. View is suberb because this cafe is situated in front of the lake.

This eatery is absolutely terrible! If you're not familiar with the area, avoid this place at all costs. We requested 4 full servings of fried rice, and what they brought us was incredibly disappointing - there was not a single piece of chicken in it, and the chicken that was present was downright disgusting. We even had to beg for chili paste, but instead of providing it to us, they brought us some chicken gravy. When we inquired about it, they had the audacity to claim that they didn't have any chili paste at the time, and then they attempted to deceive us by giving us a leftover, half-eaten chili paste from another table. The customer service here is horrendous; do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place if you want to avoid ruining your day. Our visit to this restaurant was an absolute nightmare. Not only did we receive terrible food and customer service, but the manager's attitude towards us was nothing short of disrespectful. We had also ordered a vegetable fried rice alongside our other dishes, but after the payment was done, the manager informed us that they were out of rice. He then offered us a full serving of chicken kottu instead, but when we declined his offer, he seemed unwilling to provide us with any other options and simply told us to "manage it" as if we were asking for a free meal. It was especially frustrating as we had made it clear to the staff beforehand that we wanted enough fried rice for all our orders, yet it appeared our requests were completely ignored. In light of our experience, we strongly advise anyone against visiting this establishment, as they clearly have no regard for their customers or their satisfaction.

First of all, they don't provide water for hand washing. We went there to try out their special lunch buffet which costs 650 LKR per person. They do not allow us to serve ourselves. The owner of the restaurant came and served us chicken pieces(absolutely chicken bones). Even they had prepared the bill for what we did not order. Make sure to double check the bill before making the payment. We ordered 3 chicken meals and 1 vegetable meal. The restaurant owner had made the bill for 4 chicken meals. Nothing is standard at this place. Not recommended for anyone.

this resturant made us EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. we have ordered a sea food but we got a plate of rice which consisted of dried fish only And it was stinky..No appetite to eat and it was a real waste for us;waste of our time ,wate of our money. we never recommend this place.plz attempt to provide good food for your customers and give a validity for what they are paying. We have taken the photos of the food item what we had ordered.even a dog can't eat this food.

Price is ok but the food quality is poor. Me and my friend ordered chicken fried rice and kottu they Bern the chicken its too hard to eat 😒 . And the stuff is asking us too many questions like a police man 😨 .

It's a total waste of money and time. Less higenic and low quality food. We were sweating inside and the only fan working was switched off by the staff. They charged 200 for 130 rupee bottle and said extra is for service charge we wasn't available there at all. This place is not recommended in any circumstances.

Worst experience in Sri Lanka so far. Dont go there, specially if you are a solo traveller. The place is empty, not clean, cackroaches in the bathroom, and its a mess there is stuff everywhere. Looks like an abandoned House. The owner, english, is not Nice and didnt let my friend (who was not in the hostel) use the wifi to make a call “you’re not paying ! No way” and talked to us angrily slapping the door. I decided to leave the place and sleep somewhere else Because I didnt feel safe there, and he made me pay 3000rs for the use of the shower and electricity for my phone. The door was lock, he kept the key, and kind of yelled at me. I usually never leave bad review but if it can help people to avoid an experience Like that, I do it. There are plenty of Nice local guesthouses around, with lovely people, go there instead.

We didn't stay at the hostel but did a cooking class with the amazing Delani and host, Paul. Paul and Delani organised an incredible experience just for us and we cooked amazing curries, pol sambal, prepared wood apple juice, and even roasted green coffee beans in a fry pan. Paul included a walk to the lake where we watched a beautiful sunset over the ancient city Stupas and the fruit bats flying out. If we had known about Fig and Gecko before we planned our trip, we would have definitely arranged more activities through Paul such as a safari at Wilpattu and we would have stayed there as well. Paul gave us all the information we needed to do our own bike tour of the ancient city.

Fantastic meal. Sadly we didn’t stay here however our group of 7 were delighted to find this Hostel for our last evening meal in Sri Lanka. We all agreed that it was our best meal in the country. We chatted with them in the afternoon, chose our menu, prepaid and arrived a couple hours later to a full table spread with more food than any of us could eat. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

This place is so not worth the money! There are much nicer places to stay with AC and better showers in the area. The wifi doesn't reach everywhere and the owner uses all the data up in about three days, so even though it says WIFI plan on having a SIM Card. All the pillows have mold on them and the private rooms are not private at all. The fan system the owner is so proud of, he will turn it off on you, consistently, while your in the room so it becomes very hot. The food is okay, the staff is amazing! But overall I would not recommend. The owner is abusive towards staff (and guests), intentionally does not put prices on things to over charge people and will steal from you ( this happened to me!!!). Sri Lankans are very friendly people and I suggest supporting one of them, with better facilities in another hotel.

I had a wonderful stay at the hostel. One day I was feeling sick and Paul, Maya and Ruwen did all so that I would feel better. I felt in good hands. They also organised all kind of trips and provided lots of information about the island. The house is clean and the food was good. The garden is perfect for relaxing in a hammock. I really recommend to stay here while visiting Anuradhapura.

Had a great stay at the Hostel! Everything you need is provided, big and clean dorms, good breakfast and very helpful staff. You can rent bikes to explore the city or ask for an organised trip for a good price. Would definitely book again.

The stay was super pleasant here, the owner and staff were all lovely and super helpful. The accomodation is nice and the food is good as well. I really enjoyed the tours to. The bombay fornicators (comfy chairs) were an excellent instrument for beer accompanied conversations!
