Norwegian restaurant
Fagn is a renowned restaurant in Trondheim, known for its outstanding wine selection and exceptional dining experience. The establishment consists of a fine-dining restaurant on the first floor and a more relaxed bistro and cocktail bar on the second floor. Fagn received its first Michelin star in 2019, making it one of the two restaurants in Trondheim to achieve this prestigious recognition that year.
Creative and delicious food. The juice pairings are spot on. If I insist on finding a flaw, it is that I had to pour my own water. For a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant, I would not have expected that. Otherwise, it was perfect
Jessica R — Google review
The food was very good, but the "premium" wine was NOT premium quality, and each pour was no more than 3 ounces at most. The cost for 4 small glasses of wine was $183 USD, but I looked up the pricing for each of the wines I was served, and none were more than a $30 USD per bottle.
Cheryl H — Google review
It's my first visit to Michelin restaurant and it was great. From the first until last minute everything is well-prepared and feels comfortable: service, attention to details, stuff. Service itself is not visible: they come, serve the food, provide details and open to answer any questions. I asked a lot, and got all answers. Very polite, calm and professional. Food itself - something that is hard to find in the city, I don't know even if it's possible. A lot of fish dishes, I believe it's mostly in honor of Norwegian history and easy fish availability. Only one dish was with meat and that duck, save God your soul, was amazing, serving was like a piece of meet looks like an island in the forest surrounded by sea and rocks. Very impressive. I would definitely recommend if you can go there and experience Michelin level of restaurant.
Andrii — Google review
We had a three course dinner - a starter, main course and dessert. The quality of the food was awesome except for the salty potatoes in the main course. My wife loved the non-vegetarian items. But, the vegetarian main course was a huge disappointment. Instead of the duck breast, they gave one cut carrot. If you are a vegetarian, it is not worth the money.
Abin K — Google review
Fantastic kitchen with Scandinavian touch On its way to a two star Michelin rating Very friendly professional staff Many dishes were also served by the chefs Truly impressed by some signature dishes Rendeer heart ice cream (my summary of the dish) and a potato dish having the feel and touch of tagliatelle Very nice wine pairing We went on a Wednesday : offering a menu prepared by bistro and the signature restaurant Very impressed Strongky recommended
Wim R — Google review
The most delicious food I had during my trip in Norway. Very creative with lots of textures and taste. The desert ice cream made of local herbs was stunning. The wine pairing was worth it, with large variety (Riesling from Germany, Arbois from France, Albarino from Spain, Chianti from italy, and a nice fortified wine for finishing). The place is comfy and cute, maybe a little noisy to hear all advices from staff but the service is very good. Will definitely come back.
Clement C — Google review
Easily the greatest food experience I've ever had. The servers were accommodating, knowledgeable, passionate, and extremely kind, and the food was obviously incredible. Innovative and complex, but still highlighting natural flavours and utilising simple ingredients in a way that made each dish an absolute masterpiece. Of all the starred restaurants in Trondheim, this is undoubtedly the only one I will come back to.
Sharon — Google review
We really wanted to love this place but found every dish much too salty. We ate at the bistro and had the 5-course menu. The over-salted food was such a shame, because the ingredients themselves were all otherwise really fresh. Good service and nice atmosphere. Would have been 5* if not for the salt

Fine dining restaurant
Speilsalen is a renowned restaurant located in Trondheim's Britannia Hotel, which reopened after a three-year renovation. The dining venue is known for its refined menu and carefully curated wine list, offering a highly choreographed experience with tuxedoed servers and meticulously plated dishes. The grand dining room features lavish furniture, beautiful chandeliers, and large mirrors adorning the walls. Helmed by chef Christopher Davidsen, the restaurant has gained recognition for its high-quality cuisine and luxurious elegance.
From the moment we stepped into Speilsalen, we knew we were in for something special, Nothing could have prepared us for the culinary journey that followed. Over the course of three and a half hours, we were completely immersed in a dining experience so extraordinary that time seemed to vanish. The food was nothing short of phenomenal each dish a work of art, meticulously crafted and flawlessly executed. Every course told a story, building in flavor and complexity, showcasing the incredible talent and vision behind the kitchen. The balance of innovation and ingredients was masterful. We found ourselves in awe at how each bite could surprise and delight so consistently. But what truly elevated the evening was the service absolute perfection. The staff struck the ideal balance between warm hospitality and refined professionalism. Every interaction felt personal, yet seamless, and they guided us through the experience with grace, humor, and deep knowledge. From the sommelier’s exquisite pairings to the precision of the pacing, it was clear that every detail was curated with care. This wasn’t just a meal it was a celebration of craftsmanship, passion, and elegance. Speilsalen is a place that redefines what fine dining can be. If you’re in Trondheim and looking for something unforgettable, Speilsalen is not just recommended it’s essential.

World class Michelin star restaurant. Service, food, and atmosphere is excellent. The wine menu holds a high French standard and they apply the golden wine menu rule: If the wine you’re suggesting is sold out, they offer you a more expensive wine for the same price.
Erling M — Google review
Exellent experience with superb food and wineparing. Everybody working at Speilsalen really have a great presence, so you feel very special! Thank you!
Geir E — Google review
This was an amazing experience from beginning to the end. The service was amazing, food and wine were a perfect match! The whole atmosphere was fantastic! 10/10 recommend 🙌

This is a great place to take a couple of friends or your better half for a womderful food experience. This place delivers on all key parameters: food, service, glamour and price tag compared to other places in the world. We joined in a culinary lunch experience with a movie at the local movie theater, guided tour back to the restaurant, and a great champagne lunch. Absolutely great. Recommended!
Thomas T — Google review
5 stars, easily. You pay for what you get, and get you will. It's quite expensive, as is to be expected from a Michelin star restaurant. But it's worth it if you can afford it. The whole experience is just incredible. The service, the food, the ambiance. Everything. And unless you're an extremely rich person who always eats at Michelin restaurants, you will be extremely impressed by the presentation too. Just look at the attached picture! I could write an essay about my experience, but you you just have to go and get your own. 10/10, would eat again. If I could afford it, I would eat at Speilsalen several times a year.
Morten D — Google review
Words can't describe! You have to be there and feel it, see it, taste it to believe it! The chef and his staff is wonderful and one of a kind world class ❤

Really just cannot say enough about this restaurant and hotel. We came all the way from Texas for a Norwegian Christmas holiday with Speilsalen on our list. Unfortunately it was booked up but a last minute cancellation allowed us to take part in this. Not only was the food delicious but ever member of the staff was kind, courteous, but also personable. They even made up a list of the food and wine pairings that we had as a keepsake. I cannot recommend this experience any higher. Amazing. Should have 20 stars. Thank you for this once in a lifetime memory.

This was not just the best meal we had in Trondheim, nor was it just the best meal we had in Norway, this experience reminded us of the joy an amazing meal can bring. Food prepared with such care and creativity that you don't know when again in your life you will be fortunate enough to taste it. We've eaten at so many places from food stalls to Michelin restaurants and I can't remember the last time I felt so satisfied and surprised by a dish. Everything we ordered was so fresh, with each element of the dish working so well together. The beef required no knife and melted in your mouth. The herring (after eating so much herring in Norway) was somehow so delicious and unique in its flavor. The lamb dumplings in such a delicious broth. After the meal we enjoyed the fresh baked desserts. The basque cheesecake was perfect without being overly sweet. It was perfect. When the meal was finished the joy turned to a bittersweet melancholy as we knew the only way to eat this food again would be to return to Trondheim. It is my wish to eat those dishes again soon. What a wonderful collection of people who create the food and warm atmosphere of this restaurant.

Cute and cozy place, fantastic location surrounding the library together with its bakery. Service was welcoming, helpful and attentive. Well sized portions, tasty sandwiches and lovely steamed mussels.
Johannes K — Google review
We ate here every day while we were in Trondheim. The food is polished and delicious, and great value for money. The coffee is delicious with the desserts, the drip coffee is incredible. Atmosphere and service also excellent. Don't miss it.
Adrian W — Google review
Best coffee in Trondheim! Food, service and venue were all excellent.
Ian L — Google review
Probably the best cafe I've visited that consistently delivers at every level over time. They have a small food menu with very high quality items that often use local produce to create exciting flavour profiles. The coffee here is by far the best I've had anywhere, with a great selection of small pastries and cakes to go with it. Now that they've finally stopped using that horrible knife cutlery I that I've complained about in the past, there is not much to nitpick about anymore. The service is always very good here as well. Keep up the good work!
Fredrik Å — Google review
I took away a Basque cheesecake. It was delicious for a reasonable price. The cafe has an interesting ambience, but the tables are tightly spaced apart. It was busy on Thursday at lunch time. They use local ingredients. One of their advantages is a supply of freshly baked goods from the bakery across the library.
Onekell — Google review
To the ones who appreciate specialty coffee, excellent food and a bit of literature & architecture: this place is for you. We have tried a lot of high quality coffee shops in Norway and I would say that this is the best one yet. Super friendly service, great atmosphere, excellent coffee & the food is delicious. We stayed a little longer in Trondheim than planned, so we could come back the next morning before continuing our travels.

French restaurant
Le Bistro is a French restaurant located in the heart of Trondheim, offering comfort food made with high-quality local ingredients. The chefs, Mette Beate Evensen and Martin Hovdal, bring their expertise from working in prestigious kitchens to create a menu focused on French cuisine using Norwegian produce. The restaurant provides an excellent dining experience with delicious dishes and top-notch service. Additionally, it's known for its central location near the main square in Trondheim.
The entrecôte was very tasty, cooked to perfection. The wine selection was impressive, and the sommelier was knowledgeable, providing recommendations that perfectly matched my dish and price range preferences. The combination of great food, attentive service, and excellent wine made for a memorable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a fantastic dinner!

Fantastic night at Le Bistro! Amazing food and very friendly and service minded personnel. Already looking forward to the next visit!

Mussels were great. Plum and juicy and finally a different take on this classic dish.
Paul P — Google review
This is an excellent place, both food and wine of top notch quality. Can warmly recommend it! It does not stand back compared with excellent bistro restaurants in oslo (or in Paris for that sake), but also with sort of a nordic twist to it. Great value for money, large portions and high quality.
Monica M — Google review
Really nice and cosy bistro serving excellent food and nice wines. Can highly recommend the Tatar and all the fish dishes!
Robert W — Google review
Fantastic place! The food was amazing. Although the price level is one of the higher ones, it reflects in the quality and authentic experience of the food. They have offer a concept you don't find many other places in Trondheim.

We had a dinner at Le Bistro, booking in advance through their system, easy. We ordered duck and fish for the main course. They were delicious! I had HIMMELSTUND EPLECIDER for my drink and trust me it was good! For the dessert we had chocolate fondant, even it was possible to replace a raspberry sorbet with a vannila ice :) Good service, generous portion so it was worth with the price we payed. Cozy place.

E.C. Dahls bryggeri pub og kjøkken is a renowned microbrewery in Trondheim, Norway, with a rich history dating back to 1856. The brewery offers tours and tastings for beer enthusiasts and has a wide selection of beers, including the traditional Dahls Pils and innovative new brews. The adjacent bar and restaurant serve locally produced beer alongside an impressive collection of 150 bottled beers, with daily recommendations.
I don’t know about others, but for me and my friends, the service was top-notch. The food was surprisingly good. Compared to other places we’ve been to, this was definitely much better — both the service and the food. The medium-cooked entrecôte my friend ordered was excellent. I almost regretted getting a burger instead! The food was great, the service was good, and the atmosphere was very pleasant
Raivis A — Google review
Love the vibe of this place. Good selection of beer & the food is surprisingly good, the Hitra crab soup & burger are a must! Staff is knowledgeable, if you’re not sure what beer to try just tell them your preferred beer taste & they’ll whip out a nice set of beer for your beer tasting set. Being in Norway expect the prices to be slightly on the higher end but not bad overall, you don’t need to sell a kidney although I doubt your kidney would be any good after leaving this establishment
Zandie — Google review
Dry aged entrecôte was really dry and poor taste, but also small. The other dish with that special fish was terrible. Dry, no flavor or spice cold. Very disappointing. Good beer.
The B — Google review
The local beer brewery, Dahls is the beer you want to drink in Trondheim. 🍺 Beautiful architecture, did not visit it.
Ana S — Google review
I was here together with some people from work for beers and dinner. We had a two-course meal were you could choose between beef and duck for the main course, and chocolate mousse for dessert. The dishes were great, but the size of the main dishes were generally way too small. I got two rather thin slices of beef and four small potatoes. Many of us left the place still quite hungry. When you serve only one main dish you need to size up the portions, simple as that. Or at the very least supplement with bread and butter and more potatoes. Otherwise the service and beer selection was top notch.
Fredrik Å — Google review
Delicious hamburger, fries and of course, beer! Very nice and friendly staff. Suggested good pairings with food.
Lídia A — Google review
Nice Industrial place. Lost of own brewed beers and other local or world famous beers to taste. On top of that, a (small) tasty menu for the hungry ones.
Geert W — Google review
Went to the pub before the Justin Timberlake concert. The beer is cold and as reasonably priced as you'll find in Trondheim. Good selection of beer. Service was excellent. The food, however, was subpar at best. I ordered poutine which says it has pulled pork. What I received were undercooked fries with cubes of what tasted like your standard Scandinavian roast pork. There should be cheese curds of some kind with poutine and there were none. There was a mornay sauce that was mediocre. The fries were undersalted as well. The burgers my companions got look good. Avoid the poutine.

Restaurant
Bula Neobistro, located in Trondheim, is a stylish and eclectic dining establishment run by renowned chef Renee Fagerho. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with surprise five- or ten-course menus that keep guests guessing until they arrive.
They made for us one of the best vegan meals we've ever had (10 courses too!) despite not being a vegan restaurant. Best restaurant in Trondheim in my opinion. Only thing I would say is the non-alcoholic pairing with 10 courses is a lot of sugar from all the juice -- more than we could handle in one sitting, and the jelly shot at the end was too acidic. But that's nitpicking a pretty perfect meal otherwise :)
Christian P — Google review
Chef Renee is well known in the Trondheim culinary scene as a visionary who’s not afraid to experiment with new ideas. I had the 5-course menu, which came with a few delightful extras by default: fresh bread, a pre-appetizer, and an after-dessert. The menu featured both meat and fish dishes, paired with vegetables. The flavors were unique and clearly crafted with skill—definitely not something you could easily recreate at home. I especially enjoyed the main courses with fish and meat. That said, 3 out of the 5 dishes were a bit too sour for my taste. I’m not sure if that was intentional or a one-off, which is why I’m not giving a perfect rating for the food. Service was great—friendly and attentive staff who introduced each dish and were happy to answer questions. Overall, I’d recommend a visit and would consider coming back to try the 10-course menu. The menu changes often.

Overall good taste food, the chef knows what they are making. However, they may slap you with additional offerings which might turnout too expensive on the bill, you think it is part of the meal but nope it was additional cost.

I just love this place! Definetly a place to go if U want an experience for life. This was my second visit and I will be back :-) The service was amazing, the food to die for and the staff kept smiling all through our 10 course meal that took us about 4 hours hour. Jobb well done!

We were there friday 2022-04-08, party of 6. I would say astonishing experience. Marvelous food, drinks and dishes. Cool style and service that makes you feel special. Didn't think it could get much better than last time a few years ago, but it did!

We went to Bula to celebrate our engagement. In advance, communication was great and we were given seats at the chefs table. From beginning to end the service was exceptional and it really felt like the staff was celebrating with us. The 5 course menu was a treat for the senses with interesting flavors, textures and presentation. Although seriously operating gastronomy at a high level, the ambience and interaction made it fun and approachable.

Gubalari is a restaurant paying homage to Ingrid Espelid Hovig, a prominent figure in Norwegian cuisine. The menu draws inspiration from the famous Fjernsynskjokkenet cooking show, offering dishes like sandwiches with smoked wild halibut and marinated pork loin. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurant's history. The modern Nordic cuisine style incorporates local yet exotic ingredients, including whale and horse meat on occasion.
My partner and I had a wonderful dinner to celebrate my latest certification, we really appreciated the food, the wine pairings, the service. We took the 5-course menu , all the dishes were remarkable and the wine pairings perfect. We appreciated the service too, attentive but not overwhelming. We will definitely come back! Last but not least, the Bill was a nice surprise 😊
Ugo G — Google review
Great place with an unusual decorations on the walls and those disco balls - definitely something unusual. Design and atmosphere is worth to visit, there are a lot of details on the walls. Food was really good, delicious and tastes a something unusual that is hard to craft at home, restaurant changes dishes from time to time which guarantees a new experience over the time. In my case I had set of 5: 2 fishes, 2 beefs and one dessert. Sometimes it was hard even for a waiter to explain what to expect and how it feels like. I also mentioned that my companion liked a bread and she got a whole loaf what was unexpected and cool. It's not the only why the servise there is very good and professional. At the same time, there are 2 things I didn't like a lot: it was quite noisy and tables are placed too close to each other, thus I had a feeling I share a table with my neighbors. And for some dishes waiting time was too long, but at least waiter excused about that which is nice. All in all, it's nice place to try a new unusual tastes, I would think to come here 1-2 times per year maybe.
Andrii — Google review
4.5 stars for this exciting experience. A 5-course dinner for a reasonable price. The fish was mind-blowing, the meat was ok, the service almost overly attentive, but appropriate. The atmosphere eerie and a bit strange with varying music and constant light play from hanging disco balls. A bit distracting for my taste. Wine pairing was good (and good volume), drink was strong (gin tonic).
Lukas K — Google review
A Perfect Blend of Art and Fine Dining in the Heart of Trondheim Located just steps from the center of Trondheim, this restaurant enjoys a symbiotic relationship with the Kjøpmannsgata Ung Kunst (KUK) art gallery, with which it shares the building. Art is not just a backdrop but the true unifying theme of the experience: the space, flooded with natural light from large windows, is decorated with exquisite taste, creating an elegant and welcoming atmosphere. The culinary philosophy is a tribute to the region. The menu celebrates excellent local ingredients, elevated in creative meat, fish, and salad dishes that are striking for their harmony and presentation. While the dinner menu is more extensive, the lunch selection also stands out for its quality and variety. The desserts deserve a special mention for being original and inventive creations, as does the meticulous tea service. The service is impeccable: the staff is not only efficient and professional but also shows a rare empathy, making guests feel completely at ease from the very first moment. Finally, the restaurant's complete accessibility, free of any architectural barriers, is also noteworthy. An experience not to be missed. Last but not least, the prices are not high in relation to the quality offered and also compared to those of other lower level places
Giordana C — Google review
I'm probably a harsher critic than most but if Gubalari is making themselves out as a fancy restaurant then I'm going to judge them as one. The art in the dining room was very cool though loud and table setting/service throughout was immaculate. Servers were accommodating and courses came out at a good pace. I was full at the end of my 5 course meal. However the food was not at the same excellent level in my opinion. Dishes were inconsistent and components often did not complement each other. The fish was cooked beautifully but the lamb was tough and unevenly salted. The broccolini was half raw. My fish main came with a butter glaze and a cold cream crab side which was both confusing and very unbalanced. The venison tartar had moments of genius with the picked chanterelle but also came with a milky foam that clashed with the whole dish. While some of these things could be the norm for norwegian cuisine others are likely from the care of the chef. I think there's massive potential if they spent a little more time on the dish development and cooking. Overall the price was fair for the food and excellent service. Would have rated 3.5 but given I personally would not go back for another meal I will go with 3 stars.

We ate here as part of the Jan/Feb deal where the 5-course was quite cheap (wine package not included). For two with the 5-course and two wine packages, we payed about 1900kr. The food was very good and the wines paired pretty well. Everything was cooked nicely and the flavors complemented eachother, but there wasn't anything particularly mind-blowing. The service was great though and because the meal was such a high discount, it was worth it. Dish 1: Cured halibut with fennel, fried capers, dill mayonnaise, trout eggs. Dish 2: Cured deer with potato salad and pickled onion. Dish 3: Cod cheeks with barley risotto. Dish 4: Deer with broccolini. Dish 5: Chocolate ganache with red currant sorbet.

This place is elegant and exclusive yet affordable. I love the interior design, masterpiece art on different walls. The food here is beyond experience. I did not only eat but had an experience of well prepared meals, taste, flavor, smell and food art display. I am looking forward visiting Gubalari in future. They offer great customers’ service.

Good atmosphere and friendly staff. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the history of the place and the meaning behind Gubalari which I recommend you to ask when you go there. The food was delicious and exciting. We got to try a lot of things we haven't tried before and they used local but exotic ingredients. I would describe their style as modern nordic cuisine. We got to try both whale and horse meat but their menu changes quite often so your experience may differ.

Super place, brilliant for kids with traditional board games, good music not too laod, modern art and hearty fresh tasty burgers with kind and friendly staff
Georgina A — Google review
Service was good the music and ambiete wasn't nice to loud and the room feels with the concept way to cold and overused. The Burger was ok but the Bun was hard/Cross and the chilli fries for 100 Nok was a joke super small trash beef and bad chilli and cheese. Sadly one of the worst fries I've had for a longer time. The service so great sadly the rest couldn't convince.

Credo restaurant, previously located in an old narrow street in Trondheim, has now been relocated to a new venue in Lilleby. The new location houses not only Credo but also its casual bistro Jossa and Edoramen, offering a variety of dining experiences for different budgets. Chef Heidi Bjerkan's dedication to local produce and sustainable cooking earned the restaurant a Michelin star in 2019.
We have eaten at many great restaurants, but this one reserves a special note. They created a gluten, egg and lactose free menu for me with one day notice. And it tasted unbelievably good! I wish I could have the recipes! It was out of this world! The wine pairing let’s you discover so many new wines from around the globe. The members of staff went out of their way with such natural charm, it was incredible to experience it all. You can watch the work of the kitchen from your table and it makes you feel like you are part of a theatre play. Every scene, every move was timed to perfection with great harmony. The art that surrounded us added to the uniqueness of this space.

Great food, with a focus on fresh and raw ingredients. Fantastic service and wine/drink pairings. The cost is certainly high, but you absolutely get what you pay for. The only reason I would not give five stars is because I wasn't as overwhelmed as I hoped I'd be by the flavors, but nevertheless I was impressed and had a fantastic evening.

What a meal! Love the way we were brought on a journey. Starting on the mezzanine with Champagne, cider and snacks. Seated in, and sat with, the pinnacle of Norwegian furniture design from the likes of Sven Ivar Dysthe and Torbjørn Afdal. The focus on local production was not only applied to the food. After walking down, we had several fantastic dishes in the restaurant. The coppa and potatocake, lamb, crayfish and breiflabb/angler stood out. Great wine pairings as well. Loved the Testalonga El Bandito "I wish I was a ninja" and also the Arnot-Roberts Sonoma Coast Syrrah. Most of the cutlery were vintage Norwegian design from Skaugum and Hardangerbestikk. Nice detail. The restaurant has several cows milking just for them. And the desert was a very nice milk ice cream. The plum sake we had with it was delicious. On our way back up to the mezzanine for a coffee and some "lørdagsgodt" we were treated to a small tour of the restaurant. Sneak peak into the kitchen, visit to the upstairs wine room, information about the art and some of the plants they grown and use. This was pretty close to perfect and a meal I'll remember my whole life.

I cannot say enough about this place so I take my word that it will not disappoint. Just go. My favorite Michelin rated restaurant on the planet. The non-alcoholic drink pairing was incredible and diverse and way more intreaguig and reflective of local ingenuity and taste than any boring predictable wine menu. But their wines are great too. Their own beehives on the roof too! Staff was happy. Plenty of fancy places look great but ask the waitstaff how they are respected and there can be telling hesitation. None of that. The love shines through and makes everything taste great. I love the pre-dinner chill space and menu too
Ånni A — Google review
My wife and I visited Credo for her birthday and we were blown away in every single possible way. Food, service, ambiance were impeccable. What an experience! Wine paring was absolutely beautiful, every dish has its own character, which were perfected by accompanying wine pairings. Wine paring is a must if visitors are wine enthusiasts. On the day of visit, overall courses were 21 small, but creative dishes centered around local ingredients. Texture and aroma together with wines, they managed to perfect every single dish. Yes, it is expensive, and I wouldn't recommend visiting Credo every other day. But if you know how well prepared meal should taste like, it is worth every single NOK.

Jacobsen & Svart Coffee Roasters is a popular spot in Trondheim known for its commitment to quality coffee. The cafe and roastery is renowned locally for serving the best coffee in the city, with baristas who roast fair-trade, handpicked beans. Visitors can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee paired with delicious cinnamon buns at Solsiden and Brattora locations. The minimalistic yet inviting interior makes it an ideal place to relax on a cold winter's day.
Spent a few pleasant hours in this cozy café today. The two baristas are very nice and happy to help with any questions. Both the cappuccino and the matcha latte were very good. The chocolate fugue was really tasty, especially as we didn't find it super sweet. As it is also a roastery, you can buy their coffee there directly. All around great and therefore highly recommended! :-)

Wow, what a fantastic coffeeshop - the best one I've been to in Trondheim (maybe even Norway!) The coffee is fantastic, they also sell a really nice matcha and have oat milk. I also tried the banana bread which was so nice, not too sweet, toasted, and they even gave me vegan cream with it!! Amazing service and the interior is just beautiful too, can't fault it :) ☕️

Really the best café for specialty coffee lovers in Trondheim. True Norwegian roasters, specialty coffee culture, but without the pretentious atmosphere. ☕️ A welcoming café, lovely atmosphere and really good coffee. You can also buy a bag of coffee for home, several varieties. Also, great service, super nice and knowledgeable barista. Loved it. A hidden gem for real coffee enthusiasts.

Came in today and there was only one server so our coffee and banana bread took almost half an hour. The coffee was great, but the banana bread tasted like NOTHING. Literally no flavor, just slightly salty. It was served with cream that also had no flavor, not even sugary or sweet at all. I'm sorry to write a review like this, but the coffee is amazing so I hope someone sees this and fixes the banana bread. The other food might be good for all I know.

A great coffee shop overall, European as European gets, I don't expect banana bread or the brownies to taste like the ones America, they are much more healthier and made way differently.

Pizza restaurant
Una Pizzeria e Bar is a popular Italian restaurant located in Solsiden, Trondheim. It offers a wide range of Italian dishes including antipasti, pasta, meat, fish, risotto and 15 varieties of delicious Italian pizza. The restaurant also caters to vegans with its own vegan pizza called Vegana and is flexible in customizing pizzas according to preferences.
Nestled in the vibrant Solsiden district of Trondheim, Una Pizzeria Bar is a delightful haven for pizza aficionados and casual diners alike. My recent visit to this charming establishment exceeded all expectations and left me eager to return for more. **Ambiance:** Una Pizzeria Bar boasts a warm, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly balances modern design with rustic charm. The open layout allows for an inviting space where diners can enjoy a lively ambiance while catching glimpses of the chefs at work. The combination of wood accents, warm lighting, and vibrant artwork creates a comfortable yet stylish setting. **Service:** The service at Una is exceptional. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. They provided insightful recommendations and ensured our dining experience was seamless from start to finish. Their passion for the food and commitment to customer satisfaction truly stands out. **Cuisine:** The star of the show, of course, is the pizza. Una offers a tantalizing variety of wood-fired pizzas, each made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I opted for the classic Margherita, and it was nothing short of perfection. The crust was perfectly charred with a delightful chewiness, while the rich tomato sauce and creamy mozzarella created a harmonious flavor profile. My dining companion chose the "Trondheim Special," featuring locally sourced ingredients, and it was equally impressive. Each bite was bursting with flavor, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to quality and creativity. In addition to pizza, Una offers an enticing selection of appetizers and desserts. The garlic bread was a perfect start to the meal, and we couldn't resist trying the homemade tiramisu for dessert—decadent and delicious! **Overall Experience:** Una Pizzeria Bar is a must-visit destination in Trondheim for anyone seeking an authentic and delightful pizza experience. With its inviting atmosphere, attentive service, and exceptional cuisine, it's a place that caters to everyone—from families to couples looking for a romantic night out. I left feeling completely satisfied and excited to come back and explore more of their menu. Highly recommended!

I recently dined at this restaurant and was impressed by the attentive service, especially from our waitress. However, I noticed that some frequently used items are stored above shoulder height, which could pose health risks for staff over time. Additionally, the pizza cooled quickly during our meal; implementing a method to keep it warm at the table would enhance the dining experience. Overall, great service, but improvements in staff ergonomics and food temperature maintenance are recommended. For all my beloved flowers:) The food is good give it a try :) if u are I Norge Trondheim

The pizza was good, but not fantastic. The beer prices were very high, which is not uncommon in Trondheim. What’s disappointing is the confusing beer menu with no indication of the size for a “large” beer, and it varies between 0.4l and 0.5l. Most places typically offer a large beer of at least 0.5l, not 0.4l. The service also falls below expectations for a place in this price range, with many young and inexperienced staff. It’s not great that the menu seems designed to deceive customers.

Great place for Italian food. Huge servings at good price with a good selection of dishes. Fantastic service although the atmosphere is a little louder due to the crowd. Expect a little wait (or get a reservation) during peak hours. Staff was kind enough to shift us from high tables to an open table. Home made bread was quickly served up for starters. Pizza was hot and fresh out of the gas fired oven. Pasta sauces were rich and aromatic with well cooked pasta. Plenty of juicy, tasty mussels with the frutti Di mare. Roasted chicken was soft and not dry, paired with a fantastic sauce. Fried calamari was a little on the salty side. Side note: Pedro was an absolute gem, serving up a great time!

Unfortunately it was hard to find local kitchen which isn't looking for Michelin stars (and price it) but here it is. Nice and cosy living room type premises, super nice and friendly personnel and the food was just extremely delicious and full of love. I had the fish soup for lunch and came back in the evening for the herring plate. Thank you very much ❤️

Like most things here it’s expensive. I did enjoy sitting outside on a beautiful day. The service was friendly. They don’t have a lot of the wines on their menu. My husband really wanted to try some reindeer stew. He’s glad he did, he can check that off. But it was served at room temperature. My Swedish meatball sandwich had 1 meatball in the center of each slice bread. It tasted fine. I liked the pea puree and was grateful for the lingonberry sauce it made the meatballs edible. Someone else would probably enjoy the bread it was too dense and heavy for me. $23 for each item plus $17 for a glass of Riesling. They didn’t have any of the other white options that were $14. But it was fine. I’m not a Riesling person or Chardonnay. Should stick with water. I did see the shrimp sandwich and the ice dessert. Those both looked really good.

Its better to reserve online, We were there and had reindeer stew and meatballs, as well as a tomato soup. It’s a gem! Cool very old, authentic house oozing with history and character and super friendly staff. There are many small rooms that were full of local Norwegians enjoying the evening when we were there. I booked a table earlier in the day and we had a lovely spot in the front room near the bar, we were served by the friendly and passionate owner who gave us a tour of the rooms upstairs that are available for private dinners and her energy and enthusiasm about the restaurant was fantastic. Our dinner and drinks were casual and delicious too!

Got this as a recommendation from our host where we stayed and what a hit! Fantastic food especially the reindeer stew was delicious, not to forget the fish soup... The staff was stressed 'cause apparently was also graduation day... but at the end they all handled everything well in this atmospheric restaurant where literally nothing is straight 😝... And that for a very reasonable price according to non-Norwegian standards...

Nestled in the picturesque maritime setting of Fosenkaia in downtown Trondheim, Troll Restaurant is a culinary gem that celebrates Norwegian traditions through its menu. With an emphasis on fresh local produce, diners can indulge in a variety of dishes that highlight the region's rich flavors. The charming outdoor seating area offers a delightful space for summer gatherings, making it an ideal spot to enjoy meals while soaking up the scenic views of colorful harbor buildings.
Troll, Trondheim: A culinary adventure not to miss! Hands down, Troll offered our best dining experience in Norway. For me their select menu was a clear sign of quality, and boy did that assumption deliver. We opted for the 5-course journey, and WOW – the chef took us on an incredible culinary adventure! It was the same amount of food as the 3-course, but with more diverse and exciting flavors. Every plate looked like a small piece of art. My taste buds were definitely jumping with joy with every bite I took. The service was excellent; staff were super friendly and diligently checked for any dietary restrictions or allergies. If you're in Trondheim and looking for an unforgettable meal, this is your spot. Plus, if the weather's nice, I highly recommend a seat on the terrace near the Marina for a lovely view. Troll is a must-visit!

I was away for work and asked the locals for a good place to eat and they recommended “Troll” and it did not disappoint at all. The menu is very simple as you just order a three or a five course meal. The food was traditional Norwegian and all three courses were amazing. I will definitely be coming back if I am ever in Trondheim again.
Morten J — Google review
Had a five course meal. Most of the dishes were something easily made at home. The first main dish was too cold, and the second main dish was too hot. The dessert was a single pancake with some berries. Our waiter was not very welcoming, however the apprentice was nice. We did not feel that we got an «experience», and not rnough value for the price.

A simply fantastic location for this restaurant overlooking the Trondheim canal. The venue offers both elegant indoor dining rooms and a magnificent outdoor area. The latter is cleverly divided into a restaurant section, shielded by glass panels to enjoy the view in any weather, and a more casual area for drinks. From here, you can admire an unparalleled view of the picturesque, colorful houses lining the canal, creating a truly unique atmosphere. The culinary offering is remarkable for its variety and quality, with the option to choose between tasting menus and a wide à la carte selection. The menu strikes a fine balance between fish, meat, and vegetarian/vegan dishes. I particularly appreciated the meticulous attention to allergens, which are clearly listed on the menu and proactively mentioned by the attentive and well-prepared staff. The mussel dish was unforgettable: incredibly fresh, served with a delicate sauce and perfumed with local herbs that enhanced their flavor. The selection of sparkling wines was also excellent, featuring several labels of Crémant and Prosecco. A special mention goes to the details, such as the tea served in a French press, prepared and presented impeccably. The service was efficient, professional, and consistently friendly. Finally, it's worth noting the complete absence of architectural barriers, making the restaurant accessible to everyone. An experience I would absolutely recommend."
Giordana C — Google review
Great culinary experience in the harbour of Trondheim. We had the 5-course menu and it was a delicious! The waiter (with moustache and glasses) was super friendly and introduced every course by himself. If you have any allergies, it’s not a problem. They can adjust every course to your needs. There were also vegetarian options. However, I recommend to communicate the possibility of changing the food for allergies more directly, as this is sometimes a showstopper for people with allergies when it’s not clear from reading the Menu. They did a great job to adjust the courses for the allergies in our group (milk, celery). Thank you very much!
Kristof S — Google review
Wholly unimpressed with dining here. I was very excited to eat here as they describe their tasting menu as traditional Norwegian food with a modern twist, but what was served to me felt bland, uninspired, and at times, pre-packaged from a grocery store. Service was fine, though the servers weren’t necessarily the warmest. With the five-course meal, the dishes were spaced appropriately in between except the dessert, which came thirty minutes after the fourth dish and had to be asked for. The first course was a shrimp salad, bland and the shrimp were rubbery. Second course was a small slice of filet with a sauce that seemed to taste like French dressing, maybe a paprika mayonnaise/dressing that is popular in Norway for take away foods from a convenience store? The filet was fine but bland, it was on a spoonful of coleslaw which was also bland. The best part of the dish was the pickled onions but maybe not what I would want remembered about a filet dish. Third course was probably the best, a whitefish that was cooked well over a carrot purée, fennel fronds, and caramelized onions. Fourth course was a braised pork cheek, the meat was tender but the whole dish was sloppy and too sweet, like there was a hoisin sauce accident in the kitchen. Fifth course was a sad version of a crepe with berries, and a melted dollop of some sort of chocolate sauce. I had one taste of the crepe and ate the berries and gave up. I’ve eaten all over the world, from street vendors to Michelin Star restaurants, and know that you can get great food for cheap and great food for a ton of money. This place was neither, and i spent a ton of money coming to that conclusion. Best part about this restaurant was its atmosphere, which was low lit and moody, with interesting light fixtures and edgy pictures on the walls. My home has those things too though and i can experience it for free. Maybe it was an off day because i see a lot of people who have given the restaurant high ratings, but i wasn’t feeling it and i don’t think it was worth the price tag.
VV P — Google review
The five course menu here is a good way to explore a variety of typical dishes that the restaurant offers. An excellent sea scallop was followed by a dish of marinated mink whale, not something that we would have ordered from the a la carte menu). A deftly seared piece of pollock and rosy slices of beef came next before the superb cheese cake dessert with rhubarb.

The restaurant is located in one of the colorful old houses on the bank of Nidelva. The interior is very cool, wooden beams, barrels, massive chairs and original decor. The staff is attentive and polite, the meat and fish are incredibly tasty, and the chocolate mousse is just an explosion of taste!
Daryna L — Google review
The ambience and the interior are the first to notice. Overlooking the river through its big windows is a big addition. The waiters are strategically quick, Linda was one of them. The (gentleman) head waiter/reception I believe was knowledgeable of the products and kept on checking back on us and didn't mind a little chat. The BBQ plate was more than enough for 2 people with good appetite as it came with 4-5 side dishes too. The meat slices were ok but not that great so I would probably try another dish on our return. We love the appetizers (crab claws and scallops) and the dessert (crème brûlée)! I recommend this hidden restaurant to couples on special days or company teams treating their clients.

Dish: seafood bbq. Pros: the possibility to eat a variety of seafoods. Great seasoning and flavors. Our waitress was so nice and helpful when asked. The vegetables were perfect; juicy, crispy and grilled (smokey). The location and the interior is absolutely amazing (try to get a table by the window). Cons: could be better. Seafood were not as fresh as expected (disintegrating shrimp), halibut was a bit dry, and it was too little of it for our hungry stomachs. The crab was not fully opened beforehand and had to be taken back to the kitchen multiple times as they couldn't provide crab crackers (I would be happy to open them myself). The potatoes were dry as raisins, so remember to ask for a new batch and they will happily provide freshly roasted ones.

Excellent place to have lunch or dinner, specially if you love meat. Great service and super nice staff. Very cozy for either small tables or large groups. The quality of the food choices is superb. Booking a table in advance is highly recommended, as it is quite busy during weekends.

Restaurant
Olivia Solsiden is a well-run restaurant with outdoor seating that serves stone-baked pizza and traditional pasta dishes. It's a popular choice for food delivery in Trondheim, drawing inspiration from various Italian cities like Rome, Venice, and Naples to create unique flavors. The menu features standout dishes like Pasta Di Manzo, prepared with fresh spices such as paprika and parsley.
Great food. Friendly staff who are also very knowledgeable on their menu. Great ambience. Plenty of different table selection. Went there for a friday night dinner.

Decent and busy Italian leaning eatery with the classical Italian standard dishes. There was considerable waiting time between ordering and being served by the predominantly pleasant staff. Overall, a mixed experience with moderate value for money.

Not my favorite place but the food was ok. Kinda a problem with a language barrier with some of the staff but friendly and helpful. Also very crowded and open not somthing i enjoy personally that's why they get abit lower rating from me. Would recommend but make 100% your order is understood b4 you let the waiter leave 👍

Great location, friendly staff. There was only one vegetarian main dish, which was a pity. Tasty though
Lara R — Google review
The place was noisy and dark. We were here for dinner and due to the dark and noisy premises we did not enjoy it much. When we arrived and just sat down, the waitress immediately asked us what we would like, they didn't give us a space to think about it. When they brought us food, they immediately ran to ask us how it tasted, and we didn't even have time to taste it yet. The waitresses were very annoying and intrusive at times. Pasta in cream sauce with mushrooms was too salty, otherwise it was good. The beef in the spaghetti was tough and chewy. Prices are favorable on Solsiden. But next time I'd rather go somewhere else.

Visited the restaurant with my family. They had good space for a pram(barnevogn) and changing table for the baby in the bathroom. Our waitress Silvia went above and beyond to make sure our visit was comfortable. I recommend the place especially to families with kids.

Nestled in the charming district of Bakklandet in Trondheim, Kalas & Canasta is a delightful restaurant housed in a 19th-century wooden building. The cozy bistro exudes a homely atmosphere with its quirky decor and hidden corners. Emphasizing quality and seasonal ingredients, the eatery offers a small lunch menu, weekend brunch, and limited dinner options.
We stumbled upon this place while sitting in a bar across the street, having some drinks and searching for a spot for dinner. Although we didn’t have a reservation, we were seated at a window table, which allowed us to take in the views of the city and watch the raindrops shimmer in the sun outside. The service was impeccable—our waiters were friendly and accommodating. They threw in a joke here and there, which added to the pleasant ambiance of the evening. The most notable thing about this place was the food. Each dish was not only crafted to perfection but also boasted fresh, flavorful ingredients. I “take my hat off” to the chef! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼 Every single bite was like a party in my mouth. 😄 The fish was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the steak was juicy and perfectly rare. The dessert was like the food of the gods! It melted in my mouth—I had to order a second one just to savor the flavor a little longer. My photos might not do the dishes justice, but I promise you it’ll be the best dinner you’ve ever had.

An excellent find, and a worthy standout from the other great options in the area! Other reviews are right! Oh my freaking tummy, the food here is mind-blowing!! I can't believe I'd ever say this but... the Hummus was the winner for us- the best we've ever had!! Qe ordered the Fiske Soup (Fish Soup) which was pretty good too, and several other things. Service was really really really good. We enjoyed every bit of our time here. The ambiance is cosy, romantic, with a lot of different indoor areas, and outdoor seating to enjoy the sunshine on a beautiful day. Highly highly recommend this place. Thank you Kalas & Canasta!! Mmmmm...hummus, Lovely. We'll be back!!

The fish soup tasted very good, but it was a somewhat stingy bowl. Not so the amazing piece of duck breast, perfectly cooked. The Valrhona chocolate dessert was a bit muted and tasted like an ordinary chocolate mousse. The enclosed room in the back, surely a delightful space in normal temperatures, had turned into a sauna after a series of really hot days and was very uncomfortable (the cooler tables outside were full).
Hansjakob W — Google review
Absolutely amazing gastronomic evening. From the welcome at the door to the explanation of each dish put in front of us this is how a restaurant should be run. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Absolutely amazing. Wish I could give six stars.
Jason B — Google review
I had a great meal here! We didn’t have a reservation, so we started outside, but the staff quickly found us a cozy indoor table within five minutes, so they were super accommodating. I got the meat of the day, a beef tenderloin, which was cooked perfectly, and the scallops were absolutely spectacular. The service was friendly, the food was excellent, and the space had a really cute, comfy vibe. I’d definitely go back.
Rachel Z — Google review
Obsessed with Kalas & Canasta, it is a restaurant i would visit again and again as well as recommend anyone who is visiting this awesome city. Funky space, warm and interactive server (shout out to Anders, he was wonderful!), stellar food with gorgeous plating. Had a perfectly seasoned amuse bouche of a paprika based fish salad on a whole seed cracker, paired with a light Prosecco. The scallop appetizer was beautifully plated with a lemon creme sauce and pickled ginger, with squid ink honeycomb twilles that gave an umami zing and little crunch throughout! The fish soup was delicate, herby, and light enough to let the fish shine with hints of fennel throughout. The bread served with it had a grain mustard spread, and probably some of the best bread I’ve had in Norway. It was all so good I want to go back while I’m here in Trondheim and try more of this innovative and beautiful menu.

We stopped in last minute and were told we could sit outside as we did not have reservations and all tables had been reserved. About 10 minutes in, the waiter came out and said there had been a cancellation and offered to sit us inside. The food was amazing. I got the meat of the day (beef tenderloin) and it was delicious. If I am ever in Norway again I will be back! The staff were all amazing as well.

Havfruen is a leading seafood restaurant in Trondheim, located in one of the old warehouses along the Nidelven river next to the old town. It celebrates Norway's superior seafood by serving local fish dishes in a unique setting: an intriguing riverside restaurant with massive wooden pillars and elegant table settings, creating a contrast between old and modern. The quality of the food is excellent, reflected in the prices, and the menu changes regularly based on the local fishermen's hauls.
Beautiful place. Visited twice out of three days in Trondheim. Very tasty food, gourmet level. All dishes are imaginative. Good friendly service. Recommended to visit.

Wonderful experience here! We came and were accommodated without a reservation. The wait staff was very attentive, and the chef personally greeted us at our table and made sure our food was cooked correctly and to our liking. We chose the fish of the week for dinner. We received wonderfully prepared pollock with wasabi sauce and baked potatoes. It's rare for me to be so satisfied after the meal. Well-Deserved applause for the chef. In addition, friendly and competent service, interiors adapted from an old warehouse in the historical part of Trondheim create a unique and pleasant atmosphere. Indian Tandoori Restaurant is a renowned dining spot in Trondheim, offering a wide array of traditional Indian dishes such as tandoori, masalas, biryanis, and dopiazas. The restaurant takes pride in using the best organic produce from local farms to create their flavorful cuisine. Additionally, they offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Customers have praised the generous portions and delicious food at this establishment.
Really good food. Service is relatively quick but I would recommend ordering 2 or more side dishes as well as starters to go with the main as they are quite small. 10/10 would definitely eat here again. Didn't need a booking, atmosphere is nice.
William P — Google review
I recently visited this restaurant in Trondheim, Norway, and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The waitress who served me was quite rude and behaved in a very unprofessional manner. I ordered Pani Puri and another dish with Chana Makhani. She asked how spicy I wanted the food: mild, medium, or extreme. I clearly said “medium” several times, but she seemed irritated by my pronunciation and responded with a sharp “What? What?” more than once, which felt unnecessarily aggressive. Despite this, I remained calm and repeated my answer politely. When it came time to pay, I asked if I could use Apple Pay since I didn’t have a physical card with me. Her response was vague, she said I could try, but she wasn’t sure. I found this surprising. If you’re working in a restaurant, it’s reasonable to expect that staff should know which payment methods are accepted. As an international student visiting Trondheim, this experience left a sour impression. It felt unwelcoming, and I have no desire to return to this restaurant. I couldn’t help but wonder if my appearance played a role in the treatment I received, though ironically, the waitress herself appeared to be of South Asian origin. I’m giving this place 2 stars for the interior decor. The food was overpriced and, honestly, not very satisfying in terms of taste.
Shahid H — Google review
One of the most extensive drink menus I have seen at an Indian restaurant by far. I ordered the mango lassi and was not disappointed. The Lamb palak was well seasoned and tender. I also offered a garlic naan that was tasty. The door to the restaurant is a bit confusing and I wasn't sure if the restaurant was actually open or not. Overall, I am happy with my experience here and would recommend it.
Benjamin V — Google review
Food not bad but definitely not great. Only two other tables were seated at the restaurant. We ordered two beverages and wanted to order one main dish at a time and naan as we were in a hotel and would not have space to take food with us. They brought out two mains. OK fine. We had leftovers. Then they would not give us an itemized receipt until they charged our credit card. When we noticed an overcharge not relating to the two main dishes, they said we needed to leave a copy of our credit card so they could credit us later. Finally, they just gave us cash back as we did not want to leave a copy of our credit card. Was not worth the price or hassle.

I would highly recommend this excellent restaurant. We were a large group of people and the staff were patient, kind and made sure we were well taken care of. Food was delicious. Five stars!

Decent place with good food. Food is nicely prepared and brought back tastes of subcontinent. Prices, however, on the higher end considering other places I have eaten in Norway/Trondhiem and value for money. I had butter chicken and sangam/tandoori platter. Both of these I recommend. Garlic and coriander naan didn’t disappoint either.

The food is a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it for a wonderful meal. .

This is the best quality value restaurant in Trondheim. The quality of the food was equal or better than the one star restaurant FAGN that we tried. Value and quantity was so much better. The seafood crudo tostada had enough seafood that you could taste rather than what we had at FAGN. The spicy Argentinian shrimp was tasty. The best was the mixed vegetables in season. Grilled, deep fried, or fermented in a seafood broth.

Excellent food and service. Two of the dishes on the menu were rather spicy, which is daring, but the spiciness was well balanced and provided an extra dimension instead of simply being hot. The dishes and wines were nicely presented.

The service was exceptional, welcoming, friendly and very attentive! The staff had noticed my short note on food allergies when booking and came by to check, had a chef available to support for any questions, and even prepared som additional dishes. Impressive attention to details and service. The food is affordable, totalling to less than 1000 pr person, including wine both for dinner and dessert. Definetly worth it! Highly recommend!

Disappointing Experience I had high expectations when booking a premium dinner concert at Britannia — a special celebration that was a gift for my birthday. My husband paid for our tickets on January 2, but the concert took place on May 2. Despite booking early and paid extra for premium tickets, the experience left me frustrated and deeply disappointed. Although the event had clear separation between standard and premium tickets, we were not seated near the stage or in the center, as one would expect from premium placement. Instead, we were placed at the far side of the room behind a large pillar (see attached image). This made it hard to enjoy the performance or feel part of the atmosphere. We arrived early — before all couple tables were taken — and informed staff immediately that we did not receive the seating we paid for. No help was offered. No manager checked in until I personally requested one. The only offer was to move us to a standing table in another corner. The organization was surprisingly poor for such a prestigious venue. Overselling premium tickets or mismanaging bookings — and then leaving customers in situations they cannot change — is unacceptable. The manager claimed that “everyone else was happy,” but never clarified if those guests had paid for premium or standard. What was supposed to be a joyful evening turned into a night of frustration. As an Asian guest, this was not the first time I’ve been placed on the edge of the room at Palmehaven, even when paying the same as others. This raises serious questions about fairness. To future guests: If you pay for premium, make sure you are seated accordingly. Otherwise, ask for a refund. Do not believe vague promises like “we’ll move you to a better table later” — it won’t happen. For truly good food and respectful service in the same price range in Trondheim, I recommend Fagn Bistro or To Rom og Kjøkken instead.

Well, it was a bit underwhelming. We went for the Wednesday wine tasting and it didn't occurred tonight. But ok, let's order wine and some food ! The food is really good. But way too pricey for the quantity. The wine too : almost 20€ for a glass of wine, it's a scam. And the wait… it really feels as if the more we wait, the more we'll ask for a refill ? We left hungry yet we pay 90€ for two.

One of the best experiences I have had in Norway. Great and interesting food, matched with nice wine. We had the 5 course dinner, and a couple of the dishes was among the best I have tasted ever. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. I also have to say thanks for showing a great flexibility on an expired gift card. Our gift card had expired because of the down time during corona lockdowns and their new renovation, and I had forgotten to follow up when they opened up on the new location. A lot of businesses would have just taken the money and said sorry, but they offered us to use the card because of the confusion.
Audun R — Google review
When we arrived, we told to the waiter that we have gifts cards but we didn't know about how works that. He offered us a table and 30 minutes later he came for to order drinks. We never ordered any dish, simply he brought the first dish. We had to told him about the vegetarian diet because never explained us about what type of dishes we were to dinner. The time between dishes was too long. The amount was pretty poor and poor taste. We paid with the gift cards but the waiter said that we have to pay more but we never ordered anything more and he only brought the dishes included in the gift card menu. We arrived at 20h and we finished at 23h. 1 hour per each dish. Awful 😖

Drinks were okay, didn't sit right with me, we were at hotel britain for a 3 day stay and people recommended this place, we had a good evening with friends, on our last day we were refused entry because they close at 0230. Clock was 0215 and they actully stay open till 0230 on saturdays. The security was really obnoxious about the situation, we went to a more welcoming place after this. If you want to be harassed by guards and not respected for the opening hours, clearly visible on the wall(0230?) but only selective people allowed, this is the place for you🙏

Worst experience ever. Was not allowed to enter the place while it was half full and a slow day. We six black friends were stopped and denied to come in, they were letting inn every other person to enter. Even tho they didn’t say it directly we felt unaccepted with the excuse (they said it was full) they gave us. I have had very fun experiences when I came with my Norwegian friends while it Was full of people to the door but today they ruined our night.

Bartender took an order of drinks from us roughly 30 minutes before our table reservation was up. We received the drinks 10 minutes before we had to leave. We were only half way through our drinks by the time waitress told us we had to get going. We asked nicely if we please could finish our drinks first, but the waitress got very rude at that point telling us our time was up. The waitress even started spraying our table with cleaning spray while we were still sitting there! Even though they were the ones to serve us a drink knowing our time was up in 10 minutes. What a horrible experience. Ain’t going back there

Seafood restaurant
"The Crab" is a seafood restaurant located in Trondheim that sources its seafood from the island of Hitra, known for its ideal conditions for shellfish and other marine life due to the Gulf Stream coast. The partnership between the kitchen and the Gulf Stream has made "The Crab" a popular destination. Visitors have praised the delicious lobster croquettes, lobster saffron bisque, and dark chocolate mousse.
A lovely surprise it was to visit the Crab. the ambiance was warm and cozy. Håvard helped us to choose the right dishes, and we really enjoyed them all. Lutefisk is one of those. A Christmas tradition, it proved to be great and a recommendation for those who love sweet and salty food. Fish smells strong and funky but once you combine it with all the side toppings and sauces... It is a bombshell. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks Håvard for the help. We loved all the food and drinks we had there. We hope to return anytime soon.

Nestled in the charming city of Trondheim, The Crab is a culinary gem that seafood lovers must visit. From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. **Ambiance:** The interior design strikes a perfect balance between modern elegance and cozy charm, making it an ideal place for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. The soft lighting combined with tasteful nautical decor enhances the coastal dining experience, making you feel like you’re right by the sea. **Service:** The staff at The Crab are exemplary—knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. Our server took the time to explain the menu items in detail and offered thoughtful wine pairing suggestions that perfectly complemented our meal. **Cuisine:** Now, onto the star of the show: the food. The Crab specializes in fresh, local seafood, and it truly shines in every dish. We started with the crab cakes, which were light and bursting with flavor, served with a zesty remoulade. The highlight, however, was the main course. I opted for the grilled crab served with herb butter, and every bite was a testament to the chef's skill. The seafood was cooked to perfection, retaining its natural sweetness, and the accompanying sides were equally delicious. For dessert, do not miss the homemade lemon tart. It's the perfect way to round off the meal—refreshing, tangy, and not overly sweet. **Overall Experience:** Overall, The Crab offers an exceptional dining experience that combines top-notch service with outstanding cuisine. Whether you are a local or just visiting Trondheim, this restaurant deserves a spot on your must-try list. I left feeling satisfied and eager to return, already dreaming of my next meal at this wonderful seafood haven. Highly recommended!

Ok, so I noticed this restaurant on my way back to my hotel, and as it was in walking distance, and since I desired seafood, I wanted to give it a try. I wasn't super hungry, so I only ordered two starters that were both lobster - lobster croquettes and lobster saffron bisque. Both where quite delicious, the bisque being the better of the two. I then ordered the dark chocolate mousse to finish my meal. The servers were very friendly and engaging which I appreciated as I was dining alone. The atmosphere is good, as was the bread. My only issue was the cost... Three croquettes for what is about $18US? Hmmmm, that's a bit pricey. The same goes for the soup. I am glad I ate there though. The saffron in the bisque is a really nice touch!

The waiter ignored us for 45 minutes straight. Didn't ask if we needed anything, wanted more to drink or anything. The food was good but the front of house was a joke so I'm not coming back wich is a shame. If you don't mind being ignored for almost a hour the food is good but if you want some service chose another resturant.

My first time to visit The Crab in Trondheim. Such a nice place at a remarkable location by the river. I decided to have crab pasta. Others went for deer or bream fish. Taste was impeccable but amount for one main dish with mainly pasta was disappointingly small. Dessert with Hitra cheeses was very tasty, but again disappointingly sparse. The service was great, friendly and engaged.

Taqueros Taco & Tequila is a great place for Mexican food. The tacos are vegan and the treats are amazing! The chips and guacamole are especially good.
Friendly staff, good service, delicious food and fresh drink🍸too. Quick service after we made our orders. We ordered nachos, chicken tacos, fried jalapeños, guacamole as well their house frozen coconut drink. Delicious! Highly recommended for those who like Mexican food.

Delicious, authentic mexican restaurant. If you are ever in Trondheim, you should definitely eat here. We ordered the carne asada and baja tacos with chips and salsa on the side. The carne asada was beautifully cooked topped with onions, cilandro, and pomegranate seeds wrapped in a delicious corn tortilla. The baja tacos had perfectly cooked, airy fish with cabbage and pickled onion wrapped in a flour tortilla. The guacamole for the homemade tortilla chips was unique, being topped with pomegranate seeds. Margaritas here are amazing! Totally recommend. Also the servers were very nice people and I felt very welcomed!

Good food. Not the best guacomole. Sitting by the bar was a bit noisy. Not the best sitting comfort. Good atmosphere.
Frode W — Google review
Very good value for money: large portions and delicious taste. They also had a good virgin frozen margarita.
Pauline Z — Google review
The staff was inattentive, and more concerned with chatting amongst themselves in the kitchen, and the food was unforgivably bland. There was practically no seasoning, and the produce had no flavor - not even the jalapenos. The pulled meat was dry and chewy. I'm no expert on Mexican food, but when the only ingredient that has some semblance of flavor is the otherwise quite bland cheese, you're doing something very, very wrong. The only redeeming quality of this restaurant is the somewhat charming interior, and the (much too pricey) cocktails.

Gola gelato & cafe is a nice place to get ice cream and coffee. The owner is from Argentina and they are super kind. The empanadas are delicious and the ice cream is also good.
The owner is very welcoming and nice!😊 The ice cream is as good as Italian gelato.😊 I tried the chocolate, duche leche and pistacchiio(i scooped some from my kjæreste’s cup😅) we would definitely come back here dor more.😊
Angela P — Google review
Great ice cream, but the milkshake is ridiculously pricey for its size. 104kr for that size is nuts. I expect a more friendly and customer-oriented approach from the staff too. No straw for the milkshake, and we were reluctantly given a spoon upon request.
Henrik P — Google review
Best ice cream everything is high quality and amazing taste flavours! 👌 high service and amazing owner 😊
Henrikas V — Google review
The portion is tiny for the large cup. And for pistachio flavor, there is even an extra charge. It looks like the size is the same for all the cup sizes. I bought large, and got a tiny bite of each of the three flavors. Edit: the owner of the place is being ridiculous in his/her reply. The amount was tiny objectively, not compared to my expectations. I have had gelato in other places in Europe and Norway. I know what what amount is proper when it’ll the price is at 130+ nok. And I would like to add that the service was rude.
F Y — Google review
Great ice cream, fantastic quality and fantastic taste. My personal favourite is fior di latte. I see some feedback on the price being high, but I'd pay double price purely because of how much better the ice cream is then any other place. Staff has always been great too!
Ayoub B — Google review
Good taste, but the most expensive street ice cream shop I've ever been to. 88 NOK for 2 scoops, And to top it, the scoops are smaller than any other shop I've eaten ice cream at. Good taste, too expensive and too little amount.
Hemant A — Google review
Had the pistachio and the hazelnut gelato. The hazelnut is hands down the best gelato I've ever had!
Christoffer E — Google review
Avoid this place – the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. My husband and I were walking by when we noticed the door was open, so we stepped in to check out the ice cream flavors. We were inside for maybe 40 seconds, quietly reading the signs, when an extremely rude woman abruptly told us to "hurry up because we're closing." There was no greeting, no kindness – just attitude. I looked up and said, “We can leave if you want,” and she snapped back, nearly angry, repeating that they were closing and we had to hurry. The whole interaction felt hostile and unwelcoming, so we just turned around and left. No matter how “unique” their ice cream might be, the flavor will always be overshadowed by the bitter taste of poor service. Never setting foot in that place again. Edit: Very important, i even got more offended when they directly lie in response to my review. Im sorry this is soo bad service.

Ramen restaurant
The dining experience at Koie Ramen Trondheim was exceptional. The fried chicken, known as karaage, was moist and tender with a crispy coating that had been well seasoned. The gyzoza dumplings were flavorful and juicy, although some were not tightly sealed and ended up opening when picked up. Both the tantamen and mazemen dishes were deliciously seasoned, with the noodles perfectly cooked and having a satisfying texture.
I've dined at Koie in Trondheim many times, and it never disappoints! Their ramen is hands down the best I've had so far. The flavors are always on point, and the portions are incredibly generous. We've tried ramen at other places, but Koie consistently stands out in terms of taste. A special mention to Winda, the server, who always greets us with a warm smile and exceptional service. Her warm and attentive personality make the experience more enjoyable. Highly recommend Koie to anyone craving delicious ramen in Trondheim!"
Sharareh V — Google review
Always a highlight to come here! The food is just as amazing as always – full of flavor and consistently well made. The service is top-notch too, with friendly and attentive staff who make you feel genuinely welcome. After four weeks at sea, Koie Ramen is one of the first places I have to visit when I get back home. I know I’ll always get a solid, delicious experience here. If you’ve never tried ramen before, I highly recommend the Shoyu Ramen – it’s rich in flavor yet light and easy to eat. As a side dish, the karaage is a must – crispy, juicy, and really tasty. It can get a bit busy at times, so expect some noise from the crowd, but that’s part of the lively atmosphere. Whether you come with friends or eat alone, the vibe is always great. Highly recommended!
Eirik K — Google review
Cute place, and nice waiters! Very good portions! We thought the food was a bit salty though, the first part was good, but when you are near the end and are left with only sauce and minced meat the flavour is too much.
Elena K — Google review
The ramen tastes really good, and the servings are quite generous, which is great. The ramen is served at an ideal temperature, ready to eat without needing to cool it down. The prices are reasonable, and you get good value for your money. The staff are very friendly, and the restaurant is very clean. Cons: I ordered 2 sides, which were served a bit late. I think they should ask customers if they want the sides served early or at the same time as the ramen. Personally, I intended them to be an appetizer. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back.
PaFer — Google review
The atmosphere is nice and service too but finding a fly in my ramen wasn’t in my plans… The gyozas were excellent but the chicken ramen very disappointing. Not tasty and industrial chicken, not cooked (it was pinky) and the broth had no taste.
Lou H — Google review
Very good ramen! My husband had the Tonkotsu, which he really enjoyed, & I had the Tantanmen, which was delicious (see photo). We also ordered the Karaage which had a super crunchy coating different than the usual & I have to say it was the best Karaage I have ever eaten! And I have eaten Karaage all over the planet, including Japan. Not oily or greasy, hard & crunchy to the bite but with tender, juicy chicken inside… so, so good. Not sure what the secret is but keep doing it, it’s excellent!
Julie-Anne B — Google review
Pretty delicious tantanmien, just the right amount of spiciness. Fast and friendly service, expensive but this in Norway after all. Very recommended!
Stefano G — Google review
I stumbled upon this place out of luck and just wandering around Trondheim. Feeling mildly hungry, I decided to stop in for a Norwegian take on a classic dish. The staff and establishment were inviting and attentive and eager to make recommendations or accommodations based on preference. I ordered the Chicken Shoi Ramen and ended up making what I think to be the best decision. The broth is unique, leaning into a seafood taste that only gets better the more the noodles soak and absorb it. The chicken was tender and well cooked. My personal preference is to have more spice on the chicken/pork but there was no lack of flavor here. The best for last, and if you enjoy ramen you must try this, the soft boiled egg was possibly the best one I’ve ever had. Not too hard, not too runny and whatever their process is to cook them here, they are doing it RIGHT. Recommend for a lunch or quick dinner stop

(Translated by Google) I have eaten food from here approx. 20 times and have never been disappointed. I primarily recommend the wraps and smoothies. The lower in calories, the better the taste. The service is generally pleasant as well, especially she who is often there during the day and in the morning. Good selection and this "bar" makes a healthier diet much more enjoyable. My favorites are Blue Ginger and Cottage Cheese wrap. (Original) Jeg har spist mat herfra ca. 20 ganger og har aldri blitt skuffet. Jeg anbefaler først og fremst wrap-ene og smoothier. Overall score: 7/10 The dinner was overall above average. NordØst's interior design looks great, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The service was fine, with fair waiting times and no obvious mistakes/misconceptions made. The cocktails were slightly unbalanced in terms of flavor, and the food was generally decent, but had some obvious, basic flaws that should not exit the kitchen. More info below. Service: 7/10 - The service was just fine, through our dinner we had several different servers, which some might find bad, but I didn't mind at all. No mistakes were made, and very fair waiting times for our food and drinks. Interior: 8/10 - Definitely one of NordØst's strongest points. Very pleasant looking interior, with a calm yet professional atmosphere. Quite nice. Food: 6/10 (Crispy Duck and NordØst Burger) - The food had some of the most both impressive and disappointing parts about the whole dinner. The presentation of both dishes were beautiful, especially the Crispy Duck "wrap". The biggest disappointment was the amount of hoisin sauce in the Crispy Duck. The inside of the wrap had a fine amount of the sauce, which would be no problem if the surface wasn't smothered in sauce too. It overpowered the whole dish, and completely masked the flavour of the delicious, incredibly crispy duck. I cannot fathom how such a product could leave the kitchen, it seems so incredibly obvious. The NordØst Burger was considerably better, with crispy yet fluffy fries, and a juicy burger with fresh toppings. The only negative might be the bottom bun getting quite soggy after a few bites, but it's understandable being a steamed bun.

Had a dinner here together with a friend of mine on Thursday evening with not so much full guests in the restaurant. First we got bread and really good butter, these are free of charge as a compliment like any other restaurants. We had ramen and burger. The ramen was just ok, having in mind that not so many options in Trondheim for ramen, good portion for ramen. The burger was good with soft bun and good potetoes. The service on the other hand was quite limited. We did not get level of service we expected to get (we did not even get a water bottle available at our table) and so ended up of not having our dessert and coffee here.

I was in here at lunch time and had Today's Lunch. It was Okonomiyaki, Japanese pancake. Taste was not bad, but I don't prefer coriander actually. Price was quite reasonable. Interior and view was beautiful.

Asian fusion food. Good but not wowing. Very good atmosphere and service.
Sommer W — Google review
Great atmosphere and quiet. Cocktails are served slightly too modern for me but still taste good and the food is excellent. I personally had the crispy duck pancake and found it extremely tasty and much less fat than the traditional way though it did have a little too much soy in my opinion. All in all a great place to eat good food in a chilled environment. The staff were lovely and helpful.

We were looking for a nice restaurant at first night staying in Trondheim. Well, we found this nice restaurant offering Asian food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic and delicious. Crispy duck and the hamburger were so nice and with very good portion. I really recommend to anyone who visit Trondheim.

Coffee shop
Dromedar Kaffebar, Trondheim's first coffee bar established in the late 90s, is located in the vibrant historic district of Bakklandet. Embracing Scandinavian coffee culture, they use lightly roasted beans and various hand-brewing techniques. With six cafes in Trondheim and several across Norway, Dromedar has become a popular destination for coffee enthusiasts. The cafe offers a unique atmosphere with an abundance of seating options including single seats and booths.
One of the good specialty coffee cafés in town. Also has a variety of bags of coffee and tea which you can buy for home - prestigious Norwegian or international brands. Loved the Balck Coffee by Solberg & Hansen, and also their fruits tea.
Ana S — Google review
As a "cafe office", this is near to great. There are sufficient outlets here, and mostly single seats and booths. Also, though, the fact that it IS a "cafe office" during daytime is a bit annoying, as one can imagine. I love the layouts of this cafe, though. It isn't necessarily super comfortable, but there is just something nicely weird about it. The wait in, sometimes fairly short, lines can be a bit long quite often. I don´t know why. The coffee is good, not great. It deteriorated slightly after the Dromedar chain joined Norgesgruppen. That might just be my taste buds imagining things, though...
Tormod E — Google review
My favorite coffee is the søt chili but in this Dromedar it is super spicy 🌶, it is cozy and ideal for a snack or just coffee, the waitresses are always attentive and friendly. I would say that it is my favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood ☺️
Pam P — Google review
Been here multiple times and the staff is always friendly. The café itself is super cozy and the coffee is always tasty ☕
Katrine W — Google review
The location is quite nice, I found the selection of drinks quite lacking and their cold drinks such as the smoothie was not as cold as I would have preferred. If you like sugary coffee based drinks this is a good place to go. They also have some tea options but did not have iced tea when I went there. They have a good selection of cakes and sweets also they have things like wraps and yogurt with granola but as breakfast goes it's not too much variety.

Enjoyed an early morning Americano and after a walking tour of Trondheim stopped in for a pour over coffee. The owner is very friendly and handled the busy shop with grace!
Scott G — Google review
I’ve been to this caffee and the other one in Nordre enough times to say that it’s the biggest ripoff in Trondheim! This one specifically is worse than the center one because at least the center one has a nice atmosphere and good places to sit. The drinks are always a disaster. For the prices they charge you’d think that your iced latte would be actually cold! And not lukewarm. The last time I was there me and my friend both ordered iced lattes which the waitress throws at you after a couple minutes spilling on your hands, clothes and the floor! I guess it was too much of a trouble to make sure they’re cold as well. I hate to say this but do your self a favor and get your drink at espresso house instead!
Shams J — Google review
The coffee here is just about as good as any other place in Trondheim, i.e. acrid without the maturity of bitterness and sour without the relish of letting it slap me in the face good morning. Like most coffee in Norway, I can taste the water more than I can taste the beans. Ordering anything but black coffee typically yields and experience akin to drinking the same black coffee while eating a chocolate on the side. A coffee "with fluff" shouldn't be about masking bad coffee; it should be like ordering an entirely different kind of drink, but my experience in Norway has been that it doesn't even succeed at doing that. But this isn't a review of Norway's coffee, nor the consumer base that seems to accept nothing less and nothing more than mediocrity. And I wouldn't bump so many stars just for that. It's mostly the atmosphere, which could only be described in terms of the immediate and exclusive verbal reaction elicited when having the poor sense to sit down anyway: "okay". As others have pointed out, it's a student study spot (and had I gotten the impression that it's also an entrepreneurial networking hub, my review would be of the surrounding area of which this would be a mere appendage, and I'd update my rating accordingly to one lonely star). That doesn't bother me so much (as a student; one that nonetheless doesn't bother to go somewhere else to be distracted from studying); rather that it's not even a particularly good place to study. It's uncomfortable, and the layout is awkward. Patrons have at least one of the following understandings of personal space: none whatsoever and dogmatically protective. More often both at the same time than not. In fairness to these students, that's often the consequence of the cafe's layout more than anything. Having any semblance of a successful study session typically requires getting here around opening time and staking a claim to a space designed to seat 3 people, but barely enough to keep a book and laptop open. Come here if you need caffeine and expect nothing else. It's Norway, after all.

Scandinavian restaurant
Røst Teaterbistro is a sophisticated restaurant located in the historic Trondelag Theatre, founded by chef couple Mette Evensen and Martin Hovdal. The menu, prepared by renowned chefs such as Jonas Navik and Renee Fagerho, draws inspiration from global cuisine while focusing on locally sourced ingredients from the nearby mountains and fjord. The restaurant prides itself on growing its own vegetables and employing hunters to ensure the freshest seasonal fare.
Røst is probably one of the best restaurants in the city. The restaurant itself is really nice in an old theatre room. The food and service are excellent. From each course to the small bites brought in between to the wine pairing, it is a really enjoyable experience. When taking into account the price it is a well worth visit.
Patrick M — Google review
One of the most unique culinary experiences to be had in Trondheim. Situated inside of a movie theatre, the restaurant is itself a theatre hence the name. The menu is very simplistic, you have the choice of a 3 course, 5 course, or "full experience" which is really about 9 courses not including snacks. There is no a la carte option. This reviewer went for the full experience as well as the optional juice pairing (which surprisingly cost as much as the wine pairing option). The juices are all house brew and is very unique and one is unlikely to sample the variety elsewhere. For those considering the restaurant, ensure that you are a) not a vegetarian/vegan, b) a seafood lover, and c) open minded about new textures and tastes. If any of the above does not apply, then one can truly cherish and enjoy the unique Nordic cuisine that this restaurant will present. While the portion sizes seem small, after 9 courses plus snacks as well as juice pairings, this review was completely satisfied both in terms of quantity of food as well as the palate stimulation of the entire experience. The full experience with wine/juice pair does not come cheap though. The cost of to this review is about $300+ USD before tips. Keep this mind for those who may have a limited budget to sample all the wonders of Trondheim. For the adventurous few that seek an truly unique and unrivaled delicious Nordic culinary experience in Trondheim, there really is no other option than Rost Testerbistro. 5 out of 5 stars. This is not a paid review. The meal including tip is paid for entirely out of pocket by this reviewer.

What a culinary experience! The consept, the quality, the taste of the food and matching wine, the service and the ambience of the restaurant blow us away! This is the place where you want to experience local produce food with its consept. We ordered the whole experience package + matching wine, it costed us some kroner yes but it was a part of the experience. We also appreciate that many young and talented chef work here, bringing the food as well as presented it to us. Highy recommended!

I haven’t cried of happiness while eating food and then I came to this amazing restaurant! Omg the service it spectacular and the food is obviously amazing. This is not for you if you are not pretending to spend more than 2.5 hours in a restaurant. One of the best restaurants in Trondheim in my opinion.
Giovanna P — Google review
It was okay. Nothing impressive. Service was weird. We had ordered the menu, but at no time did they tell us what we were going to have. Dessert was Æbleskiver, but was nothing like the real deal. The room feels old and dusty.
Alberte K — Google review
Excellent restaurant, with great staff and amazing dishes. Lots of unusual ingredients or combination of ingredients, but they were all surprisingly good! The wine choices which followed the three course menu were a good combination with the dishes. The portions are smaller than what you'd find in similar restaurants. Next time I go there, I'd probably go for the 5 course menu instead. So far, best meal I had in Trondheim! :)
Eduardo S — Google review
Excellent place for fine dining, offering 3 or 5 course menus. The food is very well prepared and presented by highly competent staff. Flavours are seasonal and creative, while at the same time retaining some traditionalism. The wine pairing is extraordinary and so is the non-alcoholic juice-pairing; various juices produced at the kitchen fitting the food excellently. Highly recommended!
Kristian E — Google review
Definitely a great restaurant. Service is amazing, pleasant, discrete... and wine menu is amazing. Place is nice. Disappointed with food, very salty, hides the tastes. Couldn't understand why there was so.much of it. If you are in town with 1500nok and like fresh local food, try it though. A good memory.

A nice place, just wish they didn't savage the coffee. It is not the first time I ordered a coffee with oat milk, and got super disappointed. I think the barista warmed up my milk twice because there was an issue he was trying to fix. It was steaming hot and tasted like almost nothing. At the same time the espresso tasted weird as well. I am disappointed to pay such a price for what I get.

Tantes Hage, located at Elvegata 3, is a distinct and tranquil haven within the city. This charming establishment combines elements of a café, garden, and mini town-farm complete with various animals. It offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely Sunday stroll amidst breathtaking flowers and plants while also immersing themselves in the lively presence of wildlife such as chickens, geese, and even a miniature pig.
Absolutely wonderful, delicious homemade cakes and drinks Super friendly service, cozy atmosphere and a secondhand store as well where you can purchase unique inexpensive souvenirs. The cheese/yogurt cake was perfect, soft and not too sweet. The lemonade was made of fruits from their own garden. Further in the garden you can find a peacock, turkey, hens and a rooster
Angelina — Google review
Absolutely atmospheric place. It's a private house with a small farm around with a lot of trees, some chickens, roosters and peacock. There are a lot of small details which seems like owners collecting for years, in addition to that a lot of old fashioned things can be bought as well. Place has a small cade with some pies, drinks and a lot of sits with a nice view to the river. If you're lucky to visit this place - absolutely yes. I will probably visit this place from time to time cause it's absolutely obvious that owners love their home and improve it continously.
Andrii — Google review
Unique place to eat. Everything is homemade by one talented woman probably over a couple of days running up to the Sundays she serves food on. Her husband seems to help clearing the plates! Everything is served on disposable plates/cups which is disappointing in 2024, but almost forgivable as she wouldn’t be able to keep up with washing dishes. Seems the soup is always vegan, and it was made with fresh veg from the garden. Accompanying bread was also fresh. Cheesecake was quite plain. It is quite a cramped and clammy place to sit when it’s damp outside. Be aware that you can queue for up to 40 minutes to be served and find a seat.

THESE ARE NOT BIRRIA TACOS. I love birria and I thought I could get a little taste of home when I got the birria tacos but when I got them they were so sweet. I understand food here is different from what I’m used to because Norwegians are used to not many spices on the food (or at least that’s what I’ve been told by Norwegians) but when I think of birria i think salty, not sweet. If I’m being completely honest, this is not birria, this is American barbecue brisket. Don’t get me wrong, the food is not bad by any means, but if you do want birria because you’ve had Mexican birria before and you want to eat it again, this is not the place. This birria was, and I’m not exaggerating, so sweet, it tastes EXACTLY like a bottle of sweet baby rays, it’s honestly impressive. They don’t deserve a bad review because I know I’m not in my country and I can’t expect a Norwegian to cook birria tacos exactly like I want, plus, the tacos weren’t bad, I didn’t eat them just because I personally hate bbq but they are good, just not birria.
Scarlett Y — Google review
Couldn't find each individual restaurants so this will be a general review. Sandwich from matologi was great however some of the ingredients could be better balanced. We also tried one pasta dish from pastalab which was okei but not great maybe it just didn't suit our taste. What really dragged our experience down was when we ordered crazy fries from matologi. We just got a bowl of Sørland chips with some chili mayonnaise and jalapenos. There were no information on the ordering website or at the location about them being out of fries. The waiter also did not inform us about it when they served the dish. The staff or waiters did also not come to our table to ask us if we wanted this as a replacement they just served it. We had to call for a waiter to ask if this was the correct dish since it looked nothing like the pictures. At this point the waiter informed us of the fact that they had run out of fries. So a huge disappointment in the service and information. Edit to the reply: No it was not called "crazy chips"that day it was named "crazy fries" on the website. When I visited a week later it was renamed "crazy chips". However I do not appreciate a reply trying to make up excuses. If you had actually read my whole review it says that I had to ask the waiter and the waiter even said so after we asked that the information on the Website was wrong. Update: For our second time there we ordered from a few of the stores. The food quality was okei but the service was late. This is mostly our fault since the place was packed due to it being a winter vacation in Trondheim. However the waiter lost one of our dumplings on the table said sorry and left. We ended up throwing that away since the table wasn't cleaned. I've been disappointed by the service twice and the place makes a reply saying "you must have ordered the"crazy chips" which is a lie since we even had to ask the waiter if the dish was the one we ordered and the waiter had to apologize for the misinformation on the website. Not really sure I'll be returning if this is how they treat their customers.

We went without doing any prior research. Not knowing that reservations were required, we were about to leave because there were no available tables. But then, one of the staff members kindly offered us a table whose reservation holder hadn’t shown up even an hour past their booking time. Thanks to that stroke of luck, we were able to enjoy a delicious meal and beer 🍺. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, making it a really pleasant place. Apparently, reservations are fully booked for up to a month in advance… We were truly lucky.

Good service, but the napkins were a bit dusty. Nice atmosphere and good view. Food was okay. We had the four-course tasting menu, and the theme was chilli. Agree with another reviewer here that the potato dish (between the starter and the main dish) was totally unnecessary. We were already full before the main course because we ate a bowl of potatoes 😅 It could have been perfect with the amount as a three-course tasting menu.

Located in Trondheim, Norway, Restaurant Two Rooms and Kitchen offers a top-quality dining experience with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. The menu showcases meat from local farms and seafood from the region. The sophisticated and original atmosphere features ever-changing artwork on the red walls, creating an intimate setting. Guests are welcomed warmly by friendly staff and can enjoy a cozy and intimate ambiance. The wine selection is excellent, complementing the best of Trondelag's local cuisine.
We decided to spoil ourselves a little on our birthday month by having 7 course meal in To Rom og Kjøkken. I had the wine pairing while my partner had non alcoholic pairing. It was one of the best decisions ever made. From start to finish, my taste buds were jumping in joy. I haven't had such good food for the longest time. It is a brilliant mix of ingredients/texture to come up with the most delicious dishes. We truly enjoyed it. Tables were full on a Saturday evening was full but service and atmosphere were perfect. The wine pairing went very well with the dishes. My partner was saying the same for the non alcoholic pairing too. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good evening on a special day.

My favourite dining experience in Norway! We had a wonderful five-course menu that was thoughtfully curated and perfectly balanced. Each dish combined fresh, high-quality ingredients with artful presentation, exciting textures, and exquisite flavours — simple yet refined, light without excessive fat, and full of character. Our lovely host Tonje made the evening extra special with her gracious and warm hospitality. The entire experience felt authentic, relaxed, and truly memorable. I can highly recommend this place to anyone seeking exceptional food in a beautiful atmosphere.

We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday, rented a room, private chefs. The welcome drink was delicious, not too sweet not to bitter. The bread before dinner was cruchy and amazing, i kinda wish I got more than one, it got salt flakes which complimented it perfectly, the bread is sourdough, its just perfect, seriously. Dish 1: The beginning wine to the first meal also compliments the dish, perfect to take a sip right after eating a mouth full. Truly meant to be. The dish was interesting, everyone around me gave many compliments, all around the table was the agreement sound. Dish 2: The wine also fits the dish. The dish? Amazing, absolutely wish I could eat it again. If i come back then I'll ask for that! Dish 3: This have to be the best ive ever tasted, scallops soup like, its amazing. The wine they served is also great too. Dish 4: Lamb, just. Wow. Absolutely WOW. I cant explain how delicious it was, just... I wish i got more, theres still one more dish, but I think i'll think about this one for a while. And potatoes, perfect. Dish 5: The dessert wine is the best white wine ive ever tasted, its elderflower wine. The dessert was interesting, im not sure if it was vanilla. Over all I recommend renting a room for private events, fantastic experience. The staff was absolutely fantastic, polite, professional and so nice. Atmosphere comfortable, chairs great, very accommodating. The room, bathroom and from what I can see of the kitchen is very top 10 clean.

A fantastic dining experience at To Rom og Kjøkken in Trondheim! We had the 5-course tasting menu and every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour – the signature scallops were a standout. The use of fresh local ingredients really shines, with thoughtful combinations and a great balance of textures and tastes. The staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined – perfect for a special meal. Also worth noting: the restaurant is accessible for those using a wheelchair or walking assistance, which made the experience even more comfortable and inclusive. Highly recommend if you're in Trondheim – delicious, memorable, and beautifully done from start to finish.

The best beef short rib I have ever had. Great mains and house cocktails too. A bit stuffy or rigid (telling us who should sit in which seat at our table) but otherwise a pleasant culinary experience. Considerate of food allergies. Reservations suggested.

Very good service and atmosphere. We took 5 courses that day, the food was good, good and fresh ingredients, but average courses for the required level. I can mention only scallop - very good combination and balance. One course to mention is a bit sad, I think. Grilled tartar (!) was a veeeery strange choice. It is not tartar it is kebab :)

The restaurant imports essential ingredients from Mexico and prepares food from scratch. Additionally, Frida boasts a first-class tortilla bakery run by knowledgeable Mexicans. While the service may be a bit rushed at times, the food is considered more authentic than other places in Norway.
Very good experience with Frida restautant: very stylish, atmospheric and tasty place. I liked stuff who was helpful and friendly. Food was good as well, well-cooked beef with a delicious potato. It can be a little spicy, but this is how Mexican food feels. Liked the place, music and atmosphere, will probably come back again in search of a new tastes 😊

From the outside, the place looks quite unremarkable, but once inside, it has a nice Mexican atmosphere. The food was okay—not bad, but nothing special. The service felt a bit rushed, as if we were being pressured to order quickly. Overall, it was an okay experience

Was nice. They managed to squeeze us in on a busy Friday evening. Food cane quick, service was a bit scrambled, like not sticking around for when the bill is to be paid they just dropped the machine with us and left the table, for us to figure out what to type into the machine etc. Foodwise - it's more authentic than other places in Norway, let's just say that, but not better than Mexican food itself. Still, kinda good!

We enjoyed the food a lot. Super lovely staff, very attentive. Made good recommendations too. I tried the cocktail of the week which was a great mixture of raspberry, apple and vodka. Delicious crayfish. Dishes nicely prepared and crafted and lovely to look at. For five dishes (2x starters, 2x mains, 1x dessert) and three drinks (1x cocktail, 2x wines) we paid around 2,200 kr in total. Which is totally justified and fair for what you get. 100 % recommend this gorgeous restaurant.

We ordered the grill fest for two and it was absolutely worth it. Very happy with the unlimited fries and side dishes! The soppstuing and maisstuing was so good that I ate a lot of them.😊 The staff are so accomodating and very nice as well.😊

First they gave me a steak that was overcooked, I ordered medium rare. Sent it back, got one that was practically mooing. 50% off doesn’t fix a plate that was never right to begin with. Yes, they forgot to served a fork twice. Imagine that’s you are hungry, but this kind of situation happened.
Anna D — Google review
While the quality of the cuisine was commendable, the ordering procedure presented some ambiguity. Specifically, the optimal method for placing an order, whether through the provided QR code or via direct interaction with a server, was unclear. This resulted in a delay in service as we sought assistance from the waitstaff.

Accessibility: Ramp entrance, and a lift located at the back of the building for prams and wheelchairs to access to upper floor. Atmosphere: Wonderful atmosphere, and stunning lighting. I was located on the balcony above, and it provided a lovely view of the restaurant. All tables also had a few tea lights on, which added to the cosy atmosphere. When we arrive the restaurant was busy, but still several tables were available. As we ate the restaurant became pretty much full at around 7pm. Staff/Norwegian/English: Staff were kind, lovely and patient. Happy to talk in English, and also patient if you would like to practice your Norwegian (like myself). Orginally provided Norwegian menus, but I was offered English ones should I need it. Menu: Plenty of options on the menu, there is something for everyone! Staff are happy to check any queries you may have about any of the menu items. Items all list potential allergies. Waiting time: We ordered our food traditionally rather than using the app, so food took a little longer but nothing outside of normal expectations eg maximum 20 minutes. While we waited we were given a cold jug of water, which was refreshing and good for cleansing the palette between dishes. Taste/presentation: All the good we has was lovely, flavoursome and hearty. The food was presented well, and added to the experience. We recieved a good size portion of food for every dish, which was wonderful. My only "con", would be that they didn't ask me how I liked my steak. I had the cut steak, and it was slightly over done to my preference but still was delightful. Cost: The food is quite pricey, there's definitely cheaper out there but for the experience, portion sizes and quality of food, it's very much worth it.

After having visited several restaurants in Trondheim we re-visited Bakgården. It was a good choice. Bakgården has been around for several years and you will be happy to know it has not lost its charm and quality. We had a number of tapas dishes and they were served one after another by waiters who told us about about the origin and ingredients of the dishes. The dishes were all well prepared with delicate flavors. There is also something for everyone with lots of choices on the menu. A real treat for your taste buds. We enjoyed our food with a nice german riesling. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing with soft music (jazz) in the background. A good choice for a romantic date 🙂 You feel like the staff really put an effort into making your stay really enjoyable... and they succeeded.

We have been in Norway traveling for over two weeks and this is one of the best places we have eaten. We have eaten here twice. Worst tapas of my life, 30 min of waiting with no food, for all food served at the same time. Then some was cold of course. Patatas brava came also with the beef, covered with majo and dressing, tabacos was either battered ordinary scrimps or just badly overcooked. Extremely noisy music and place. Best for young, intoxicated ppl. Meat was right, but cold. Who serves all 900 NOK tapas at the same time?

We went on a Saturday night through a table booking. Despite of a busy floor, we were accommodated when we came one hour earlier. All the waiters were welcoming and quick. We waited 25 minutes for the food which was the same waiting time even if it's just for desserts. The meat plate was good except the steak which tasted a bit bland and dry. We really liked both the burger and seafood plates and the Churros was close to the real ones! However, if you have a big appetite, one meal platter won't satisfy your hunger. One meal platter ranges from 300-400. So, let's say expect to pay around NOK600 per person if with drink and dessert. I don't mind dining in again but I'll make sure am not starving when I go. :)

Really nice and pleasant staff and I liked the iced coffee.⭐️The cheesecake was super tiny for its price tho and with very little topping. Also, too many guests were smoking around that I had to leave in rush, as it was impossible to breathe unfortunately. The food itself was actually pretty good—I'd definitely recommend it. But honestly, the service was so frustrating it ruined the whole night. We showed up and literally sat for 30 minutes before anyone even came to take our order. Our waitress was completely curt, didn't smile once, and didn't check on us even when she was right next to our table. We felt totally ignored. We even had to get up and pay at the bar because she never came back with our bill. It's a real shame because the kitchen staff is clearly doing great work, although a heads-up: the combo plates are surprisingly small. The service here really needs a serious overhaul, because it's the only thing holding this place back.

Service was really nice, most dishes decent however you can taste the lack of flavour in some dishes such as the scampi and oyster mushrooms. You can taste that instead of using flavourful olive oil it was generic cooking oil. usually with tapas the oil is so delicious you can soak it with the bread, but this was greasy and flavourless:/

Amber Restaurant is a charming Asian eatery located near the heart of Trondheim. The menu, initially in Norwegian, can be accessed in English on a tablet. The restaurant offers an array of delectable dishes such as Peking duck, salmon and ham rolls, wok dishes with chicken and prawns, fresh sushi with unique sauces, and flavorful ramen soup.
Good decoration and atmosphere. Great service with attention to details who took care of all tables. The specialty drinks were nicely decorated and surprising. Recommend to try these for the experience. Food arrived quite fast. Very fresh sushi with well combined ingredients and unique sauces. The ramen soup tastes good with real broth, but small as a main course. The brownie matcha dessert was excellent and not so sweet. If the vanilla ice cream was upgraded to premium variant with vanilla seeds, it would have been even better. Recommend this place highly, will come again.

We’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to our friends! The best Asian restaurant! 😋😋😋

Unfortunately I am not fit to rate the restaurants food, because I never got to try it. We ordered a 4 course meal in advance. Upon arrival, it took the staff 10 minutes to even acknowledge us, despite some of them just leaning against the wall looking bored. We were given somewhere to sit, but after, we were not checked on again until 40 minutes later. We were then asked what we wanted to drink. After 1 hour, we were told the food was never registered, so we had to order over again. At that point we told them we wanted to go elsewhere, as we were really hungry. I was excited to try this place, so this was quite unfortuate. Hoping they sort out the service, as it came off as extremely unprofessional.

The food is to die for. Long wait, but every bite was a new experience. 300-400 per person is cheap compared to the food you get.

The ramen was just okay — oddly lukewarm despite being freshly cooked. Thankfully, we came on a Monday and got the special offer, which made it decent value. The egg-in-sauce (ajitama) was unfortunately overcooked. The ramen was served with a regular spoon instead of a ramen one, making the eating experience a little awkward. As for the sushi roll, cooked tuna with mango sauce didn’t really feel 'traditional' at all. On the bright side, the service was friendly and efficient. We were seated quickly even without a reservation. The ambience was a mix of Asian fusion and industrial-contemporary, not particularly cozy but not unpleasant either. Music was at a comfortable volume, so we could chat easily.
