Restaurant
Favela Brazilian Grill, located on Church Street, offers a unique dining experience with its all-you-can-eat grilled meat and exotic cocktails in a vibrant setting. The restaurant is known for its accommodating staff who go out of their way to assist customers with disabilities and genuine allergies, making it a comfortable and safe place for all diners. Additionally, the establishment has gained popularity as Barnsley's top restaurant based on numerous positive TripAdvisor reviews.
This place was definitely worth the visit. I had the fish option, my partner had the meat and our 3 year old just had the buffet (free for under 5s anyway). Good range of food, the fish plate( you just get the one plate, then you can choose from the buffet) was really good! And the meat comes round and you say if you want that one or not, my partner said it was some of the best meat he has had! We will be visiting again!!

We googled and Favela has excellent reviews so we stopped for their buffet lunch on our way to N Yorkshire. We were definitely not disappointed. Food was excellent, wide tantalising variety to choose from. I just enjoyed trying different dishes. Their bbq meat was cooked with love and to perfection. The staff were friendly, welcoming, very hospitable and provided first class service. Only 10 mins off the M1, easy to get to. Highly recommended. Thank you very much for making our eating experience pleasurable.
Midge S — Google review
Just had an amazing meal for my son and husbands birthdays today. There is a vast choice on the salad bar. The meat which is served at the table was delicious. All the meat was cooked to perfection. The pineapple at end of the meal was so tasty. It was a lovely touch to give my son and husband a cake each with a candle. We will definitely go back and recommend to everyone.

Great Value for money! Very good steak. The best ones don't come around too often though so it's best to get a lot of them when they come rather than just one piece! It has a good salad bar too and options for vegetarians!
Thomas M — Google review
i have been here a few times, mainly because of the choice of salad buffet for which there is plenty of choice, not eating more than a couple of plates myself, it was always on the slightly pricey side, however its gone up nearly two pounds now to £17, the mayo has browning like its been sat there for a few days and feel its not all fresh. That extra two pounds puts it outside what the competition offers, you can get a good hearty hot meal for 6 less in barnsley, or even a good steak dinner for around the £15 mark. its pointless paying for the meat option since they give you cold plates, so you have to rush thru the meat before it goes cold(luke warm when at the table) also nothing worse than cold meat juices mixing with the salad, so unfortunately i wont be back unless they bring it down to £15 like it was for the veg option. Also, in an empty restaraunt, why do you insist on clumping customers together?, give them some privacy. 10% auto service charge for what exactly?, you are the argos of restaraunts, take the option and then disapear, you dont even bring the bill to the table. oh, and they overcharged me once, seen other reviews on here saying that too, it didnt sound like an honest mistake to me, waiter only had to remember veg or not.
Suze S — Google review
Incredible pleased with my visit to the restaurant, the staff are absolutely fantastic with people making the dinner experience even more special! I cannot recommend it enough as it’s a fair price for a high quality food experience. Service is absolutely amazing with very friendly people around you all the time well done to the Favela’s team!
Maria G — Google review
Ate here last night with friends, the food is and was delicious! Meat is tender and well cooked to your liking. Salads & sides are spot on, fresh and appetising. Left feeling full and content. We live very far away down south otherwise would return very often! Well worth a visit - thanks for a super evening. Great value for money

Breakfast restaurant
Toby Carvery Dodworth Valley is a delightful family-friendly restaurant that specializes in serving traditional British carveries. This charming eatery invites you to gather with loved ones and indulge in hearty meals featuring succulent roasted meats, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, and an array of seasonal vegetables. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for quality time over a delicious dinner.
Great fresh food. Good variety of choice. Food is piping hot. Quick service. One of the waitresses called Ava was such a lovely friendly helpful person. We noticed she was always smiling as she was going about her job. Made us feel we would visit this Toby carvery again.
Marie B — Google review
My first time staying at this place and was pleasantly surprised. Apartment was in the Isla Bonita section of 15 apartments. It was spacious recently refurbished and clean. We were able to walk down to the shopping centre but a taxi is needed on the return journey.
Ian P — Google review
The food is always great here and the carvers are friendly and chatty. The only big issue is the service from the waiting staff. The wait time between finish our meal and getting dessert and then between finishing dessert and paying to leave were ridiculous. We were waiting for over an hour all together even after telling our waiter we wanted to order dessert or pay. A good place to eat but be aware how long it will take to get things done
Jas — Google review
Lovely carvery and very helpful servers. We had lovely Chloe seat us and get our drinks, and take our order swiftly. Jordan served up some lovely cuts of meat (I think Jordan is a new young carver and did very well). Chelsea was very helpful taking over serving us as Chloe came to the end of her shift. All were lovely polite and cheerful. X
Beverley S — Google review
Always lovely carvery. Been here on many occasions and not had a bad meal yet. Henry the carver is always polite and makes time for a quick chat with each customer. However, our server Ava was an absolute star. She couldn't do enough for us, very attentive, always smiling and overall made our Sunday lunch a lovely experience. This young lady is a little worker too, she didn't stop but did it all with a smile on her face :)
Dawn D — Google review
A well overdue visit to our local Toby Carvery. Maiumy was our friendly server this evening and did a wonderful job. Ebony who was on the carvery was also very friendly. The meal was lovely already from the extremely fatty beef, I'll go for turkey next time.

Grace our server at Toby Dodworth Barnsley and Luca our carver were absolutly brilliant. They answered all questions expertly and both had excellent customer service

Came in yesterday and loved it. The food was great, piping hot. Had Chloe as our server and she was so great with us, so kind and friendly. Love Toby Carvery so much, one of the best places to go to. Will most definitely be back again soon

The Pavilion in Buxton is a delightful destination that offers a unique blend of experiences for visitors. Every first Thursday of the month, the Gardens Marquee hosts a vibrant farmers market, showcasing an array of local foods, fresh produce, and handmade crafts from the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. It's an excellent opportunity to discover delicious treats while immersing yourself in the local culture. Additionally, The Pavilion is surrounded by exciting dining options that are worth exploring.
Food was amazing, 10/10 would recommend to anyone. The server was really lovely, he was chatty and friendly and attentive. Cocktails were nice as well. This is a great place to hang out, can't wait to go back!
Leah B — Google review
This place used to be lively, we called in for lunch on a Sunday, my wife ordered the roast beef, and I had the butter milk chicken burger. We were the only people in. The burger was overcooked to the point the coating fell off and tasted burnt, and the portion fries whilst fresh and edible was dismaly small. The roast beef was a disaster, beef was like it had been boiled in a bag, the vegetables were reheated and we're like leather, same with the roast potatoes, the Yorkshire pudding was dried out and solid and the gravy was like water, portion was it was about as big as you'd expect a starter to be. Service could have been better, we raised the poor quality of the Sunday lunch and the burnt chicken with the waiter at the begining of the meal and he said someone would be over shortly, but no one came, I was starving so pushed the burnt coating off the chicken off the burger and started picking at the salad and fries whilst we waited. Still no one came, I'd managed to pick my way through most of the chicken itself (which was nice and moist) when the waitress came over asking if we had finished and needed the plates clearing, we said we were still waiting for someone to come over to discuss the food. Shortly after the manager appeared and was very apologetic. And we ended up not being charged for the Sunday lunch (as it was pretty inedible) and having £3 knocked off the £14 chicken dish (as I'd managed to pick my way through most of the edible parts) if the manager had come over when we first raised the issue we would have returned the chicken as well. Such a shame as this place used to be fantastic but we will not be going back again.
Stu T — Google review
very expensive Sunday roast, small portion and not fresh everything reheated and therefore dried out. This place used to have great food but no longer what a shame. The roast and how much I managed to eat are pictured, it went back I wish I had checked reviews before we went as others have also commented on the same
Jo T — Google review
We pre-ordered our food as we were going to the theatre. Wasn’t very busy when we arrived however we had to wait ages for our drink order and had to chase up our food order as service was non existent. When the food arrived everyone’s portion sizes were different. I would say they were definitely on the stingy side and looked like it had just been thrown on the plate. Very poor. We won’t be rushing back!
Alex B — Google review
It's a good place to go for a drink and a bite to eat with you friends but the food has disappointed this time. I usually have the small tapas dishes but the options are now very limited and expensive. There used to be an offer (something like 4 dished to the price of 3) but is now not offered. My wife said the Sunday lunch was dry and the mash potatoes did not contain milk and butter. The pan fried chicken was dry and the roast potatoes was just the potatoes used for patatas bravas which were soggy. Shame as the food was presented nicely. I went for the lamb meatballs which very cooked nicely (a little pink in the middle) but the sauce was fairly bland, taste like tinned tomatoes with a couple of herbs and spices. The attempt of the tzatziki was poor! The waiters were fab and very apologetic about the food being late, but as mentioned... the food was very late.

Oh my god, what a place, 9 of us came here to eat yesterday evening. We all had starters and mains, clean plates all around! I had popcorn chicken mmmm Then The Pavilion burger! It was mahoosive! Great big tasty beef burger, suckh a moist piece of chicken, bacon, sauce, 2 HUGE onion rings a gerkin and the bun was lovely too. Chips and coleslaw. £14 I think? Excellent Leonie looked after us all, very attentive, took time to chat to us too! Boss man lovely! All in all, nice place, atmosphere great, all guests seemed to be enjoying themselves throughout! Thank you, Sue

On the photos are the Duck Gyoza and Bulgogi beef bao buns to start, and then BBQ Fajitas and the Katsu chicken curry for main. The food was delicious, well presented and hot off the stove. The staff were attentive and friendly and made it a really enjoyable lunch! Fantastic little restaurant tucked away in the outskirts of Barnsley town center, would highly recommend for folks wanting something different from the usual pub-grub! Very clean throughout, facilities well maintained.

Had afternoon tea for a baby shower the cakes and sandwiches were amazing. A proper size sandwich on a roll rather than a slice of bread. Scones cakes tea coffee. Clean toilets pleasant staff and very comfortable clean surroundings xXx

The Strafford Arms is a charming ancient inn nestled in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales near Bolton Abbey. Its mullioned windows, stone flags, and thick walls exude authentic character. The taproom's long bar is a welcoming spot for weary walkers and hungry guests. The hotel offers cozy fires, snugs, and carpeted rooms with views of the river and fells. The restaurant features oak floors, paneling, and a log-burning stove where locally sourced dishes are served.
Visited for first time ever yesterday for our daughter's suggestion for an Afternoon Tea. Well the refreshing different version here blows every other one out of the water! 5 savoury foods followed by 5 sweet ones, all of which were superb quality presented immaculately. Unusually the starter savoury is a mini fish and chips followed by a beautiful tasting pasta in creamy chorizo sauce plus 3 others, go hungry! Then is was onto the sweets, a delightful brownie, a champagne raspberry mousse, plus two others & finish off with a small bottle of Strawberry Fizz & lashings of tea! There aren't enough superlatives to describe the whole tea in absolutely superb country pub with a terrific ambience, an absolute bargain at £23.95, go soon it all changes on 2nd of March to a new version, Fabulous Valentine's treat ❤️❤️
Ian M — Google review
The gravy if you can call it that was gloop so easy to use granuals when all you have to do is whisk or stir but can’t the chef make a gravy ??? The veg 🥴 appeared to be thrown into a cold dish ,not washed not trimmed especially the carrots ( zoom into pic) not exaggerating!the dinner altogether was just about warm closer to cold. Horseradish sauce not visible but found a splodge ( not unlike the gravy splodge) smeared under the beef was told could ask for more but waitress never came back.😂 Complained “nicely” about the gravy and was brought another mini saucepan with some unfortunately more gloop it was inedible. After we finished (mine was hardly started)the waitress apologised I said it isn’t your place you didn’t cook or present it)the head waitress came over to ask what was wrong she was informed of ALL issues and offered complimentary 😂 drinks! refused as didn’t want to drink on an empty stomach!! below standard, shockingly terribly, Inedible slimey gloop 🤮

We visited the Strafford Arms in Barnsley in September 2025, and it left a lasting impression. From the moment we walked in, the ambience was warm and welcoming, striking that perfect balance between relaxed and refined. Whether you're planning a family dinner, a catch-up with friends, or even a date night, this place fits the bill beautifully. What really stood out — beyond the inviting atmosphere — was the excellent service. The staff were friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and made the whole experience feel effortless. While the menu sits in the medium price range, the value for money is outstanding. The portions were generous, the presentation was thoughtful, and the quality of the ingredients shone through in every dish. We woulf definitely recommend the Strafford Arms to anyone looking for a versatile, family dining spot in Barnsley. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to — and we certainly will.

Went in for a very late lunch, and they didn’t disappoint! We enjoyed a lovely meal and drinks in a peaceful atmosphere, with excellent staff. The steak frites and beef burger were amazing! We will be back!
Nilee G — Google review
We had the Sunday roast and it was nice but expected better considering the price - must have been sat for a while before being served as not very hot. Missing some things listed on the menu - crackling etc., although to be fair we didn’t flag this with the staff. Yorkshire puddings (which were huge), stuffing and roast potatoes were lovely. Servers were nice enough but sometimes we were forgotten. Took ten minutes to bring dessert menus; it was a quiet evening and wasn’t busy. Desserts were okay - salted pretzel chocolate mousse was good but very rich, and would have been better with the whipped cream the menu said it would include. Only one vegetarian option on the menu (spinach and mushroom pasta), although we didn’t ask if there were more options so it is possible there’s a separate vegetarian menu we didn’t know about (but the staff didn’t mention one). All very expensive - nearly £5 for soft drinks, ~£20 for roasts and nearly £10 for desserts. Lovely setting, well presented and clean.
Emily — Google review
Really disappointed with the light bite menu. The portions were ridiculously small, like children's meals. But the prices were still high, spent £40. I complained which I don't like to do and had £1.50 taken off the bill. Can't wait to spend it. The Guinness wasn't great either. Won't be returning.

I booked The Strafford Arms to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday, there were 36 of us in total and everyone really enjoyed the night. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was beautiful and the service was fantastic. I made the booking 6 months before the event and everyone was very helpful in making sure that the evening was special, nothing was too much trouble and communication was excellent. I would highly recommend The Strafford Arms whether this be for a romantic meal, meal with friends or a large party.

We really enjoyed our meal here! Yummy food and great atmosphere ☺️

We managed to get a last minute booking due to a cancellation for my dad’s birthday and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been trying to get a booking for ages so I was thrilled that we got this! The staff were so accommodating and quick to respond. When we got into the restaurant we were told how it works (we all eat together and what the courses were). The BYOB is such a great idea and we were even given a wine cooler for our bottle. Food was gorgeous, especially the pasta dish and the tiramisu which were to die for! All-in-all we will definitely come back again, I can imagine it’s even better in the summer. Thanks again Secret Italian 💕

Our first time here and what a gem of a restaurant, the Valentine's menu was delicious, 6 starters before the main meal and then the desserts. All the food had so many flavours, we were Absolutely stuffed. You won't be disappointed with this Italian. Margaret and Jana are so welcoming. Many thanks Chris & Allison.

Me and my partner were lucky enough to get a cancellation. I'd heard about it and read the reviews so we were looking forward to it and we were not disappointed! My partner is a vegetarian and it's a set menu so he was a bit apprehensive. However, he enjoyed every single dish and so did I...could not fault anything! The dessert is a Tiramisu and I've never been a fan but I have to say that was one of the best desserts I've ever had! The service was outstanding from start to finish, especially Jana who cooked and spoke to every customer in between...she is amazing!

Absolutely loved our anniversary meal here. Flavours spot on, fantastic food & the "fear" of what are you going to eat as it's a set menu soon dissapated. Good atmostphere, take your own alcohol or whstever you wish to drink, table water provided. 3 hard working ladies looked after us & never stopped! Hats off to the chef - a thoroughly enjoyable night.

I arrived at this quaint venue expecting excellent food, having read the reviews but I must say I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong the food is good and well presented but the garlic mushrooms were very mild, I could barely taste garlic. The chicken wings were bland and a bit dry. The pie was very nice and tasty as were the chips. The steak which is what I went for was overcooked but still moist, definitely not medium rare. Overall it's a nice place serving nice food but I've had better food for the same price elsewhere.

Brilliant food. The staff are great and cheerful.

Birthday dinner so I thought I'd treat myself to a starter, 8 quid later and I have 4 plum tomatoes, a few leaves from the local riverbank and bare with me here, one piece of bread. Not big or anything, I'd argue on the small side, genuinely would have been better off munching some grass off the side of the motorway. Other than that though, the main meal was actually quite nice, it's just it's let down once again by portion sizes and pricing. No issues at all with service other than not mentioning the single piece of bread bit and the atmosphere was fine. Just as a side note, I did find it funny that me and my sister got to share a nice single piece of bread, 4 tomatoes and some leaves onto an extra plate the server brought as if the starter would even half cover 2 people..

First time visitors and will definitely be back. I had the new lamb shank with mash and minted greens. The lamb was cooked to perfection, smooth mash and the greens had a lovely crunch to them but weren't raw. My partner opted for the duck which is also a new addition, again, the entire plate was cooked beautifully. Staff were welcoming and really down to earth we didn't want for anything.

What an amazing find this was. Amazing Sunday Roast and fudge cake, service was brilliant as they found us a seat even though they were fully booked. Nice quiet atmosphere and child friendly. Can't wait to be back!

Our visit was because we were given a voucher for christmas. I know the place from years ago when it was a working man's club. First appearance, the car park is small and uneven under foot. Climb a few steps and you enter the Bistro. I found it a little gem, quirky and cosy. We were shown to a table, we asked for another no problem, sat down left with menus to choose our meals, short while later came back for drinks order, choose a lovely bottle of Shiraz, reasonably priced, ordered the food, food came, chosen steaks came cooked to order, chips and onion rings homemade were excellent. The staff were excellent, we had an issue with one of the steaks, it was cooked to our liking it was just a query regarding type of steak. The chef came out with a joint of meat, and showed us how he cut the steak from the joint. Happy with the meal we paid and even left a tip.

The photo is of the large semi circle bench seat at table 41 in the bar area. The photo was taken in May 2024 and it had been like that for months. We went recently in January 2025 and the seat is still like that; on the left and the right of the large bench seat the foam rubber is hanging out. How could an area manager of a supposedly prestigious firm like Whitbread's see that and allow it to stay like that all this time? And what must people think when they visit the hotel and restaurant for the first time when the seats are ripped and the foam rubber is hanging out. Table 41 is in a really prominent position so you can't miss it. I notice they have bought a pool table; I would have thought repairing the upholstery would have been more of a priority. As for the food: we had fish and chips a few months ago and the batter was wet and really, really soggy. We had fish and chips again in January and once again the batter was wet and really, really soggy. Head office must have changed the recipe or perhaps the cooking instructions for the staff, as it never used to be like that; the batter was always crispy in the good old days. We have been to Premier Inn restaurants all over the country, this is the very worst. I would say the place is moribund.

Great experience visiting, had a pre scheduled visit with the manager to team up our football club with the pub to support each other in the future! Manager was extremely keen to support the local club and also enjoyed a spot of lunch whilst there which I had no grumbles at all about! Cant wait to make this my regular spot from now on..

We went on Friday evening. For food. It wasn’t busy. We had a long wait before our food order was taken. And it took a long time for our meal to arrive. The food wasn’t very tasty. It was a cold place. Both myself and my husband were cold. No soap in the toilets.
Julia A — Google review
We arrived at 19:15 and from the get go it felt they didn’t want us there, granted we turned up for a table of 3, not booked but they looked quiet that’s why we popped in. We were told it’ll be half hour for food which we didn’t mind cos we were visiting family. 20:45 we questioned whereabouts our food was, lo and behold our food arrived when we asked no apologies about the delay. I can totally understand if they were busy but they weren’t so there’s no excuse for waiting over an hour and half for food. When our food arrived, you could tell it had been sat on the warmer for a while, my partners coleslaw and salad red hot, flimsy bit of chicken not worth the price at all. My partners mum ordered the new Korean chilli pizza and it didn’t even come cut like I say waiting all that time for food and they didn’t even have the effort to cut and had to butcher with a knife and fork. Granted the smothered platter was okay nothing to shout about. Definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone, abysmal service staff didn’t look they wanted to be there, stupidly long waiting times for mediocre food. Wouldn’t go there again
ELLIOTT H — Google review
The staff were working very hard, and it was evident that they were hugely understaffed that evening, but the food was awful. The meals turned up so dry, I have to be honest, we didn't know if the vegetables had been roasted or just dried out under the kitchen heat lamps. The chicken was dry and the pie was hard and not good quality. Sadly it felt like you was the last customers of the day in a horrible motorway service station cafeteria. I will kindly thank our waitress as she was brilliant at juggling several duties, and still remaining polite and professional.

Thaal Indian Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Nestled in a stunning building, the restaurant boasts a beautifully decorated interior that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Guests rave about the delicious vegetarian options, with generous portions served fresh and hot. The attentive service adds to the charm, as staff members are both professional and friendly, ensuring every need is met.
First time going and it was lovely, Poppadoms, starter and a main with a nice pint of kingfisher. Everything was very nice and so were the staff. Definitely recommend for any time of group if it's 2 mates going for a curry or a family catching up.

First time visiting after been recommended by my son. The building from outside was stunning which only complimented the interior, it was superb. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Service was professional yet friendly and could not be faulted throughout our evening. Both the starters and main were authentic and divine and there was no room for dessert. I have eaten many a curry in my time and this has to be one of the best. We came as a family and I will most certainly be telling my family and friends to pay the Thaal a visit. We will be back. Look forward to seeing you again soon

Thaal is fast becoming our go-to restaurant for family gatherings as it’s pretty central to us all. The food has always been excellent and there’s plenty of variety with some excellent specials - I personally enjoy their venison dishes. Service is friendly and well organised, even with a disorganised group of 15 like us :-) I’d advise a reservation as it’s always been busy when we’ve visited (generally a good sign)

Had take away, chilli chicken masala, rice, bread. Around £25 with side and drink. Very good chilli chicken made hotter for my taste. Very nice inside with very good greeter/ manager. Half the time I looked to see if there are easy parking on Google maps and this place had plenty.

First time ever going and it definitely will not be our last. Absolutely fabulous food and service could not complain about anything. I asked for a recommendation as I wanted to try something new and the waiter gave me a recommendation based on what I usually order and recommended the Kerella Murgh and it was absolutely delicious! My husband said his food was 10/10.

Delicious food with bold, authentic flavors — no complaints there. But the service was painfully slow, portions were disappointingly small, and the damp, musty smell in the restaurant really took away from the experience. Great taste, but the rest needs work.

Been here several times and never had a bad meal. The service is really good and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Everything I've tried on the menu so far has been really tasty. The portion sizes are good and the prices are similar to other Indian restaurants in the area. Overall a pleasant dining experience.

The staff here are known for their friendliness and efficiency, making your experience even more enjoyable.
Good spot and service. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating area. The menu is suitable for veg/ve. Parking is difficult as it is located right in the heart of the town.

First time visit to Spoons in Barnsley, as I needed to kill time on a hot Friday afternoon, and wanted a pub with a garden or outdoor space other than street seating. The pub was actually cool inside anyway with decent air conditioning. Service was quick and staff were friendly, even bringing round free ice lollies at one point for the children with their parents. Will come back to have food at some point.

I came here yesterday with the hubby and son for a meal and it was very cheap being around £28.22 including drinks and 3 deserts around £12.50. Then all of a sudden the very loud fire alarm came on out of the blue for no reason whatsoever and ok I get that there is a kitchen which could have triggered it but it's still not very nice to be stood outside for at least 5 mins for no reason especially if other people are smoking/vaping around you when I don't do any of them myself. After the fire alarm had ended the staff didn't even tell us what caused it even though they work there, overall 3 stars due the fire alarm going off spooking the hell out of my husband and son if it wasn't for that it would've probably been a 5 star review but yeah very cheap meals and deserts/ very tasty and provided us good table service

Should call this place The Tardis because what you see on the outside isn't what you get on the inside!!!! If it wasn't a Wetherspoons I wouldn't have gone in from the outside view. But once your in it's spacious with lots of wood panelling ,beautiful rooms upstairs and nice atmosphere. It has an outside area in the middle of the building which I was amazed it had .But more importantly the staff were friendly and efficient...one of the places you should definitely not judge a book by it's cover .If your shopping in Barnsley well worth a visit!!!!

Me and my partner have now had 3 breakfasts on separate occasions and all three have been a disappointment. The food has been cold, today the hash browns on my partners plate was a mess. Three times in a row? What’s happening? I appreciate that they may be busy, but cold food? Not good at all. We are regulars at this weatherspoons and it’s like part of the experience but more recently it’s as if service and quality doesn’t count especially as this is our regular pub ! This is a shame really as we love the chain in general

Loved our breakfast here. We haven’t really tried many places in Barnsley but it feels like the coffee shop in movies where people on the next table talk to you and offer you things from their plate. Dog friendly. Nice coffee and other drinks. They have sweet treats to take away also which is a nice touch. The owner/ manager spoke to us and also gave us recommendations. We loved this place so much.

The Indian restaurant Chilli is a well-set out and good service restaurant. It can be used for receptions and parties, and the function room above it is also good for smaller events.
Chilli is so consistently excellent! I return to this restaurant many times, which I haven't done with any other curry I've found in Barnsley. It's hard to find good vegetarian options normally too, but Chilli does a paneer makhani that I literally crave, if I go too long without 😂 My partner has had many different meat curries from them too and they're always nice - he currently enjoys the Chicken Tikka Chasni, if you're after a recommendation. Have been in to the restaurant (which was inside another restaurant but they still served the Chilli menu) + I've also had (many a) takeaway, both are really great consistently. Breads are delicious. Ugh, just everything lol - couldn't recommend them enough tbh. Order on their website instead of a 3rd party + support local!!

Definitely got its groove back! Not been for a couple of years as we had a bad experience near Christmas (40 mins waiting for staff to clean up a diners accident) but after giving it another try last night I was pleasantly surprised, chips were average (but acceptable as not really an Indian speciality) everything else was top notch and the nan was probably the best I’ve tasted. Simply fantastic

We ordered takeaway collection from here last night and honestly couldn’t recommend it less. The food was as though it had been cooked in the morning and then cling filmed (our starter actually was cling filmed)! We ordered the Friday Ruby Murray special and it really did feel that because it was a deal, it had all been pre-cooked. Despite collecting it was cold and had to be reheated when we got home. The food had no flavour, with the tikka masala tasting like it just had a ton of tomato soup in it for the sauce! I can’t comment on the dining in experience, but would 100% recommend avoiding takeaway from here. Re the owners reply below —- we collected the order bang on time, and did not collect later than advised on their order confirmation!! Excellent example of not taking ownership and putting the blame on the paying customer 🙄 if you can’t provide fresh takeout food, don’t offer it!
Abby — Google review
Brilliant service friendly after numerous visits. But on our last family outing there. The food was terrible. Out of seven meals 3 chicken dishes where made out of chicken that probably died disease ridden and of old age... But I stress what prompted this review was the reaction of Simon the owner! After a few. Comments where made in regards to the chicken... Last visit... After the nonchalant shrug of his shoulders... 250 pounds never again

Falco Lounge offers a versatile experience, with a relaxed and calm atmosphere for dining upstairs and a lively environment downstairs for evening drinks. The staff are friendly and accommodating, creating a welcoming ambiance. The menu features delicious options such as the Smokey Joe burger, ultimate chicken burger, warm brownie with ice cream, and sticky toffee pudding. The drink selection ranges from familiar choices to more exotic ones like the strawberry sling and watermelon tea.
One again, another place we have found that you absolutely should not visit ... Because if you do... It will be a lot harder for us to go back again and eat. You really should be going here to eat. The food was outstanding! We tried the Shakshouka, bang bang chicken noodles, aubergine flatbread and a kids pizza (and a selection of drinks) The service was very fast and friendly, we ordered through the QR code menu whilst sitting up stairs. The drinks were with us within a couple mins and the food about 10 minutes after that and all the food came at once. All the dishes were amazingly tasty and so well cooked! Excellent portion sizes where you still had room for a desert if you wanted, but you weren't stuffed to the rafters, which we appreciated! The whole place has a lovely feeling to it and the staff really add to this with how friendly they all are. In drinks: we had a couple of non alcoholic cocktails (pina nolada and the cherry fakewell) they were beautiful, the pinot grigio on offer was probably the nicest my wife has ever had, whilst the iced salted caramel latte was best I've ever had! So please, please avoid going as I would like a chance to go back here sometime soon ha ha. If you haven't been yet... What are you even waiting for! You will not regret it!

I recently visited Falco Lounge and was quite disappointed with the experience. Firstly, the children's play area was very dirty, and most of the toys were broken. It's also located right next to a set of stairs with no safety gate, which felt unsafe for younger children. The restaurant itself didn’t seem very clean either, and a lot of the chairs were wobbly — it felt like the furniture had been bought but never properly maintained. Overall, the vibe reminded me of a run-down Wetherspoons. Service also left a lot to be desired. I had to ask multiple times for basic things like children's cutlery, sauces, and even a replacement chair after the one we were given was broken. The staff didn’t seem very attentive or organised. The food was okay, probably around a 6 or 7 out of 10, with the chips being the standout. However, the kids' menu and drinks were very overpriced for what you get. It’s a real shame because the place has a lot of potential, but at the moment it just feels run down and poorly managed.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Falco Lounge in Barnsley is hands down one of the best places to eat in town! The food is absolutely top quality – fresh, flavourful, and consistently delicious. I genuinely think it’s the best food you’ll find in Barnsley. The prices are more than fair for the standard you get, making it great value for money. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, which creates such a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Whether you’re popping in for brunch or a full meal, they make you feel right at home. If I had to mention one small downside, it’s that the venue could be a little more disability friendly. However, that doesn’t take away from the overall great experience. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area!

Called in here one Thursday as the place we were going to go to didn't 'do' food before 5pm. In the end we were very pleased with our adhoc choice. The staff were friendly, the service was good and the food was plentiful and tasty. I hadn't realised but 'Barnsley Live' was happening over the weekend, so I asked if I could book a table for Saturday teatime - no problem and I was also advised to use their app on Saturday to order our food as the bar area was expected to be very busy. Roll on to Saturday and I am pleased to say that everything ran smoothly. Our reserved table was downstairs, so I asked if we could be relocated upstairs. The staff checked for available tables, and we were soon sitting by the windows upstairs - great result. There was a great atmosphere in the lounge and 'Barnsley Live' was in full swing in Glass Works Square (which you could see from the Falco Lounge). Being very busy didn't impact on the delivery of our food to the table, which was again in good time. It was also tasty and plentiful. Definitely would go to the Falco Lounge again - got some other menu options to give a try 😊.

This is a great establishment it has it all from inside comfortable seating and clean with good happy smiling staff. The price is relatively cheap, and there are some good seals to be had on the menu. There is an outside seating area and again lots of comfortable seats and lots of them. The food is delicious 😋 and the drinks are from normal to exotic. It is disabled friendly so no issues there. I recommend this establishment and give it credo for the decor and the plants inside and outside. Keep up the good work. You are an asset to Barnsley town centre.

It was me and my partners first visit yesterday. Upon our arrival we couldn't find a staff member to be seated so we walked around looking for one. There was no wait at all to be seated even though it was a busy Saturday. We liked the atmosphere and the decor and the added little touch of popcorn to snack on whilst we waited for food. The lady who took our orders was a bit ditzy and forgot that we ordered drinks and asked us again 5 mins later, she then took our food order. The wait for food wasn't that bad. Both meals looked good. I had the ultimate chicken burger and my partner ordered sausage and mash. Mine was toppling over on to it's side with how much was in it, I had to take it apart to eat it, not really what you should do with a burger. It was dripping with oil and the bacon was overcooked and rock solid which made it difficult to eat. It tasted ok but not amazing. The fries that came with my burger were bland and unseasoned and not at all appealing. My partner says that his meal wasn't amazing either, there were some hard bits in it which he thinks was burnt onions. Which put him off. I thought it looked good but he said he wasn't impressed he says it looked like it was pre-prepared and warmed up. Not really the quality of food I'd expect for £20 per meal. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

Restaurant staff deserve a 5 star, however the bar staff were slow and extremely rude. I came with a party of 5, the quality of food was lovely, however the garden pie lacked filling and as a meal for two the side portion of mash was only enough for one. My overall experience was spoilt by the bar staff!

Visited for a friend's Birthday, not been in before and have to say that the staff were friendly and great giving us all time to select our meals. The inner decor and vibe is great throughout the building and washrooms clean and tidy. The meals we had were good. Just marked down slightly due to portion size could of done with a little more meat on the kebabs. Had live music playing that wasn't overly noisy to the point we could carry on with our conversation easily and the place was busy so always a good sign.

An overall good restaurant Very nice ambiance Friendly staff Takes a long time to serve food but when the food was served it was fresh and piping hot. Bbq was a bit dry for my liking the rest was upto the mark Naan were fresh and flavour full. Very delicious sauce. Overall a good experience

Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The naans were burnt and way too thick, making them tough to enjoy. As for the mixed grill, some pieces were dry, which left me questioning the quality of the cooking that day, perhaps they were having an off day. I thought I’d share some feedback, but when I called to do so, the staff seemed uninterested, which didn’t leave a good impression. It's such a shame, heard some excellent things about this place from friends.

Had their food delivered. My family hated their food.😀 I enjoyed it. The hate was because of sweet taste of curry (more like Gate of Bengal than India🫢). I enjoyed their biryani, naan and kebab. Grow more but please start making curries more like curries to cater PakIndian customers. Keep sweeter one for native British only.✌️🌻

While the hotel itself is fairly basic and nothing fancy, I felt compelled to leave a review because of the incredible service we received from one staff member in particular — Neil. We arrived back at the hotel around midnight after a long day, and Neil was the only staff member on duty. Despite being on his own, he was handling everything — checking guests in, serving drinks at the bar, even bringing out food (we ordered some chips, which really hit the spot!). He kept everything running smoothly, all while being friendly, welcoming, and full of good energy. He looked after us until the early hours without ever seeming flustered or tired — just quietly getting on with it and making sure everyone was happy. You could tell he genuinely cared about the guests and took pride in what he was doing. It’s rare to come across someone who goes above and beyond like that, especially in the hospitality industry late at night. Neil really made our stay — and I hope the hotel recognises what a gem they have in him. Thank you, Neil!

**No Pool** Very clean rooms, the barman was lovely to chat to (didn't catch his name), and a nice pool table in the bar but no swimming pool. Fell ill first night, and the staff were very nice and approachable with any issues. Decent parking too

Billy and his team were outstanding for our wedding day! An incredible venue and an incredible service. Billy and all the staff were a huge part of our day and we cannot complement them enough. Brilliant hotel and brilliant people running it! Thanks so much Billy and all the team for making our day perfect🥰🩷💒

Staff sweared at my friend when he politely asked for a pint. They didn’t clean our room for out wedding night, so we got back to a messy room with no towels after our weddings. They didn’t seem like they wanted to work. Receptionist was nice

Shocking Experience – IHG Should Be Ashamed of This Standard As a loyal IHG member, I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at Holiday Inn Barnsley. My family and I were traveling from Glasgow and had booked a room for three guests — two adults and one 10-year-old child. What we received was far below acceptable standards. Upon check-in, we found only one double bed in the room. When we raised the issue, the staff provided us with a fold-out army-style bed and a dirty duvet. We had to request clean bedding, which was only provided after repeated complaints. By the time the extra bed was set up and the bedding was replaced, it was already midnight. Just when we thought we could finally rest, my wife went to the washroom — only to find it filthy and clearly used, as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all. At that hour of the night, this was both shocking and distressing. The so-called night manager eventually came to clean it, but when we asked for a different room, she claimed there were no rooms available, despite the front desk earlier telling us the hotel was “quiet.” We had no choice but to sleep in an unclean and uncomfortable room, which completely ruined our night and cast a shadow over our trip. The next morning, I spoke to the manager, Marc, who listened and promised to “look into it.” A day later, he emailed offering just 1,000 points — barely worth a few pounds. That offer felt like an insult, not a resolution, given the unacceptable experience we endured. Since then, we have emailed repeatedly, and have received no response at all. This level of service, hygiene, and disregard for guest well-being is disgraceful. IHG, you have let us down. We expect a proper apology, meaningful compensation, and above all, accountability. This was not hospitality — this was negligence.

**NO GYM OR POOL** FALSE ADVERTISING When booking this hotel it is advertised EVERYWHERE that it has a gym, pool and spa facilities. On arrival, I was informed that this is not true and is actually the Bannatynes spa that is advertised and NOTHING to do with Holiday Inn. And to add to my disappointment, the lifts were out of order. This doesn't affect me directly as I am able to use the stairs, but this doesn't help any guests that may have disabilities preventing them from using stairs. I booked 2 nights here based on the fact it had gym facilities. Other than these main issues, there is nothing else I can't find fault with. The staff are lovely and the facilities (that are actually here) are good. Very disappointed 😞

Located just of the M1, ideal for stopping overnight. The Hotel is well presented and beautiful inside with a great restaurant and amazing staff, on the front desk you are welcomed with a smile and open arms, with the added bonus of going that extra mile to make your stay as good it can be. Free parking with ample of space ensures easy access to the hotel. My stay here was above expectations and I will be staying here again on my future travels.
Derek H — Google review
I can't fault the rooms, the staff were wonderfully helpful and the location is spot on for visiting Yorkshire. However, the other guests were loud. The TV in the room was blaring until 3am the first night and then kids were running around the corridors until 11pm the next night. It seems a few families were staying together. I complained, only to be told they will ensure their policy on noise is shared for future bookings.

Taco Bell is a Mexican-inspired fast food chain serving tacos, quesadillas and nachos. The restaurant was pleasantly surprised with the good quality of their food, with only one dish not being to everyone's taste. The chips were gorgeous, the burrito was perfect and the tacos were nice. The churros and caramel sauce were lovely too.
First time in a Taco Bell. The food was great. The staff were polite and helpful. The service was fast.

Barnsley needs a proper Mexican restaurant….. Food arrived flat cold, beef wrap supreme no meat. Ordered 3 tacos 2 beef and one grilled chicken no grilled chicken in sight. Spoke with establishment that just kept pushing back to just eat, which I understand that’s where I need to complain and get the refund back from however surely the manager at Taco Bell should be quality checking food on a daily bases to stay up to standards. Won’t order from here again £28.92 rip off for the lack of food.
Kirstine M — Google review
The workers are rude and useless don’t help you out. Ordered my food minute later it was handed to me cold and looked uncooked soggy chips and a burrito that was small and BARELY had chicken in it only jalapeños. Ordered another large meal box and it didn’t even look large and it was small and thrown together. The workers don’t even work just laugh in back

Do not eat sure unless you’ve got all night and want cold food thrown together. Staff are rude and need either training or sacking, especially the one with the glasses. The attitude on it stinks. Shocking, put me off Taco Bell for life. Spend 40 quid and got robbed. Never returning.

Chicken wings restaurant
KFC is a well-known fast food restaurant chain known for their buckets of delicious fried chicken, as well as delicious wings and sides. Their Barnsley restaurant, Peel Street, delivers juicy chicken that is perfectly hot, and their chips are excellent too - only issue is that they're missing Pepsi max from the order which isn't a huge deal. However, they made up for it by fixing an order of popcorn chicken very quickly which was very refreshing.
Great little restaurant! The staff were super friendly and helpful—so much so that they even gave my shoes a complimentary shine while I ate. I guess floor sweeping during dinner doubles as a fine dining foot spa!
Joe B — Google review
It’s nice but there are things I want to say. Service is fast but chips are way too spicy, chicken is way too juicy. Felt like I had a rainy cloud on my shirt and doors are hard to open. It’s ok but I don’t go here every day
Harvey N — Google review
I've consistently noticed an overpowering bitterness and excessive saltiness in every piece of chicken we've received—particularly when ordering items under offers or rewards. This isn't the first time it's happened, which is why I’ve made it a point to avoid promotional items altogether. While I truly appreciate the friendly and professional staff, the quality of the food has been quite disappointing lately.

The Best KFC. I always find KFC's in general are very hit and miss. I've been coming to this one for over 2 years now and never once had an issue. The food is always hot and fresh! My go to is a mighty bucket for one & I alway come around 5-6pm.

Three things, i have ordered from this place many times and recently it has been very disappointing, getting wrong items most of the times, burgers are not even assembled properly. You will never get a sparkling water even. And most importantly this shop never answers calls these days. I used to love this place but it’s just been very disappointing from past 2-3 years.

Horrible attitude of RGM (restaurant general manager) threatening to watch my words. (Told me to get off my phone!!! - in reply I chose to only say that he doesn’t tell me what to do). 0 customer service, no work ethic, disrespectful and very recalcitrant. Never ever going in there! People like him make businesses go down!

Paid for 2 trilogy meals alongside a fillet box meal at Barnsley Drive Thru this evening. It was a long wait to get the order then when we got home the orders were incomplete on the trilogy. To say am disappointed is an understatement. I understand staffing for the wait but to get this wrong and overpaying for the privilege is unfair and also realistically goes against trade descriptions as the order was not complete. See photos.

If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience in Barnsley, look no further than Bombay Rasoi. This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, known for its exceptional Indian cuisine that stands out for being less oily than typical offerings. The menu is diverse and reasonably priced, making it an ideal spot whether you're enjoying a night out or grabbing takeout after some drinks in town.
Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Service in the restaurant was very quick and staff were welcoming. The portions were very generous too with so much food. Good feel to the restaurant and very nice setting. Highly recommended 👍
Richard F — Google review
As someone born and raised in India, I can confidently say that this meal was far from authentic Indian cuisine. My wife and I dined here yesterday, and while we appreciated the traditional experience of eating with our hands, we were alarmed by the lingering yellow stain left on my skin. Despite washing my hands multiple times with soap, the color refused to fade. No genuine Indian spices cause such discoloration—it’s almost certainly artificial food coloring, which raises serious concerns about its safety. Transparent disclosure of ingredients is essential, and this should have been made clear to customers.

Two of us ate here midweek, we hadn't booked but it wasn't too busy. We got seated straight away. The service was good, the food portions were of a good size and really tasty. Excellent value for money.

Called in Monday evening not been for sometime, the food was top quality really well cooked grate menu to select from and very reasonably priced. Had a nice chat with the owner he did remember I used to go quite often on Saturday evenings. Will definitely go back again also the restaurant does take aways.

Used to be our favourite place for an Indian, however our last visit was our last visit. Food tasted awful and we think it wasn’t the regular chef. Its location attracts local drunks which makes the atmosphere awful. Sign of the times when the owner is desperate to let anyone in? If that doesn’t put you off it’s a place to eat after a skinfull. Shame it went down hill as it was the best of a shoddy bunch of Indian restaurants in the area. Getting a partial refund after we complained wasn’t enough to try going back.. bye bye
Glenn S — Google review
The food is by far the best Indian in the Barnsley area and we have tried them all. We went with 4 people and all agreed that the food was super nice. Really genuinely loved our meal last night. The service is always great too. Even when we get a take away the service is super friendly. Really great place to eat. The only mark down I could give isn’t really their fault. Their location puts them right next to the ridiculously loud Chambers pub. That place must be frustrating for the owners of restaurants near by. Nothing to complain about regarding Bombay Rasoi though. We go for a family curry every 3 months and this will be our new regular.

From fresh pizzas crafted with local ingredients to authentic Thai street fare, classic Indian dishes, and hearty English breakfasts, there's something to satisfy every palate. Called in for a Friday lunchtime drink, there were a good number of customers tacking advantage of the good range of food outlets. Good relaxed atmosphere nice background music. Beers a little expensive that said most places are. Well worth a visit, lots of seating areas, well spaced out with a good size outside area but not in February.

Great place to meet up with friends for a drink and food before football or day out in town. There's a large choice of different food styles to satisfy everyones preference from pizza, traditional English, Greek, Thai etc. The bar is always busy and getting served can take up to 10 minutes on a match day. The area is clean and tidy with staff clearing and wiping tables down constantly.

Visited on a number of occasions. Saturday by far the best atmosphere. Sundays not great as only 2 food vendors on which seems odd as footfall greater on Sunday than mid week evenings. Decent choice of food and bar as draught staples as well as good cocktail selection
Marc C — Google review
The bar made a pina colada with semi skimmed milk, as opposed to Coconut milk/cream , the key ingredient of the drink. I was then told I had to wait 15 mins for another drink to be made. Luke the bar man (cocktail shaker) was rude and patronising. Will not be visiting again. Terrible service.

Rumba: just opened so gave it a go. Huge shout out to the young girl working there. She explained she was on her own and that there would be a wait for the food of around 30 minutes which we didn't mind. The beef quesadillas were superb. The steak cooked beautifully (which we found out was the first time the young lady had cooked a steak). Fries were the best had in a long time with the coatings. Kids loved the nuggets. We were really impressed with how young lady handled everything. She's a credit to the business. Nero's: youngest lad had the kids 9" margaritha pizza with drink. The pizza was perfect as always. Big shout also to the staff clearing tables and the toilets. The place looked very good.

This is the best place upstairs facility has numerous restaurants and an open Bar. It has lots of seating tables in different designs. The food is fresh and delicious. I tasted the Greek and the Tie foods and eas well impressed with the quality of these well-prepared meals. It can be crowded but you will find a table. There is an outside area as well where you can sit on chairs and tables. I highly recommend this place you will be spoilt for choice.

The Wentworth Arms is a charming and historic inn located in the picturesque village of Elsecar. With its traditional pub atmosphere, exposed beams, and open fires, it offers a warm and inviting setting for weddings throughout the year. The venue features a range of function rooms and delectable catering options to accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. Customers have praised Lewis, the manager of The Loft at Wentworth Arms, for his exceptional service and understanding nature when planning special events like engagement parties.
We randomly came across The Wentworth Arms online when looking for a venue in Barnsley for our wedding. When we went to have a look, we completely fell in love with The Loft at The Wentworth Arms. It was the perfect venue which fitted in well with our rustic theme and we chose to have our ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception all there!! Lewis was our point of contact and wedding co-ordinator/organiser- he looked after us from day one. He was absolutely fantastic! Very attentive, professional, friendly and a really lovely person all round. Nothing was too much trouble and he made sure all mine and my husband’s needs were met. From the very first meeting, right up to the big day and even throughout, he was amazing! It wouldn’t have been the wedding day we had without him. We can’t thank him enough! Not only Lewis, but all the staff on that day were fantastic. Our family and friends had nothing but praise for everyone. They all catered for our needs and wants to perfection! We also want to show appreciation to the chef for the beautiful food which was served for our wedding breakfast (all requests were catered for) and the buffet food for our night do was equally as beautiful!! Thank you for hosting our big day and making it so memorable. Kind regard, Hannah & Ryan 04/10/24

Went for drinks and food friday night. Nice selection of lagers and enjoyed a great pint of Asahi! We had the stonebaked pizzas and calzone for food and for a pub it was extremely good! The tomato sauce is superb! Wouldnt hesistate to come and have them again and would recommend anyone to have one! Gave one star less as it did take nearly an hour to come out and we had to remind them and also the pub was just full of empty glasses and people not collecting.

Takeout Restaurant
Chachaz Takeaway is a long-standing local fast food restaurant that has been serving great food to the community for decades. Recently, they have changed their name to "What a Kebab" and the quality of their food has improved even more.
Best Kebab and best burgers for miles. Sometimes the food is a wee bit late, but it's always spot on and hot. It's become a Saturday night staple in our house.
Alex V — Google review
I have been using ChaChaz since 1986 and they have always produced the best doner kebabs. Tonight there were only a couple of customers in front of me, but they took a while to serve me because they were on with preparing delivery’s. I ordered a king size doner kebab for £10:50. I asked for lemon juice on the salad and plenty of chilli’s sauce on the meat. When I got home I was disappointed because the meat was in a polystyrene tray, rather than the usual “tin foil” tray. Next I noticed there was no chilli on the meat, so I looked into the bag to see if I had been given a tub of chilli, but the bag was empty. Having decided I wouldn’t be beat that easily I made the kebab without the chilli, but the meat tasted absolutely horrible. I even tried my own chilli sauce, but it could not hide the disgusting taste of the meat. Needless to say it all went back into the bag and then into the wheelie bin where it belongs. I will never order again from this establishment.
The C — Google review
Not enjoyed my last 2 doner kebabs from here, gave em one last chance tonight, that's it it's over for me now. Shame as I've been going for nearly 40years,yes the new owners tidied the place up and it looks a hell of a lot cleaner but the food has gone downhill, onion bahjis which used to be amazing and unique to that shop we're tasteless almost black from being over fried, kebab meat was cold and tasteless wen I got in and I don't live far, very dissapointing

Ordered king size kebab after 5 min wait at counter...asked for salad and sauce...3 different people took over my order...got home,no salad or sauce...twice I stated my order upon deaf ears....shocking service, for mega inflated prices...shopped here since the 80's...but since the owner as took a back seat...the service has gone down the swanny, and so will your customers too

Me and my husband just ordered for first time and wow lovely food..I had a cheeseburger and my husband had mixed meat kebab with salad, chilli and garlic we also got some onion rings to share and all of the food was really nice..we will definitely be ordering again 🙂

This used to be the best kebab shop in Barnsley. It's a far cry from that now. I used to call weekly but suddenly their prices leapt up by 50%. Same quality but just more expensive. I haven't ordered there for a while but my daughter suggested it as 'a treat' for my 50th bday. £32 for 'special for 2' which was dry and small portions for the price. Used to be able to pick and choose which salad you wanted, now it's just a pre-packaged plastic bowl filled with some stuff you may or not prefer. The choice has been taken away. It was a massive disappointment. Apparently the shop only had one person ordering at 7pm friday evening and that speaks volumes. I called the shop to offer some feed back and constructive criticism but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. The prices have increased massively and the quality has fallen massively. I can see this once amazing takeout closing within 6 months. My advice is to spend your money elsewhere, better quality and value is offered in so many other outlets. Conclusion - avoid. Order at your own risk.

First time and last time!!! I order.£25.50 for one mixed kebab and large chips. When I ordered I rang back because I thought I'd misheard the price. But I thought I'll give it a go. Hope it was gonna be huge and taste nice...how wrong was I! Couple of burnt bits of chicken and last weeks dry Donner. Small box of chips. Honestly, this place is a joke! Avoid Avoid Avoid... FYI they changed the name of the place too. Shame you can't get a lower score than one star. I live not even a quarter of a mile away. Tried to say the extra delivery was for the two bits of chicken tiny they managed to burn. AVOID ...AVOID

Normally love love love this place, had it a lot since I’ve been pregnant, was really caving it today so sat waiting for it to open since 2pm, I was very disappointed asked for the pizza to be as crispy as possible normally they do but today none of my order was cooked properly, I ordered a kebab, chips, pizza and garlic bread (again pregnant 🙈) what little I did eat came straight back up due to not being cooked properly even the dog won’t eat it. Still really hungry but won’t be eating again tonight 😞 just to add it cost me £20 for me not to eat.

The best coffee shop in town. I find with other shops such as the chain ones you can never really taste the coffee and here it’s so aromatic and delicious and the decor is so cosy. I am a wheelchair use and there’s plenty of room for me. The coffee and food is delicious and unique and their prices are great too

Had a great experience at this coffee shop! The coffee was really tasty - you can tell they know what they're doing with their beans. I tried their latte and it was perfectly balanced, not too bitter and the milk was steamed just right. The service was top notch too. The barista was friendly and knowledgeable, took the time to explain their different roasts when I asked. My drink came out quickly and exactly how I ordered it. Nice atmosphere as well - clean, comfortable spot to grab your morning coffee or sit and work for a bit. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend if you're looking for quality coffee and good service!

Amazing place 😍. We were walking back to the car and thought we’d nip in for a coffee. Instantly I was in vegan heaven. The ciabatta was the softest most lovely bread, the vegan mozerella filling with pesto was to die for. The vegan sausage rolls are the best sausage rolls I’ve ever ever had (including the meat variety back in the day) and the vegan cakes… Oh my days! I even got some boxed up to take home because they’re so good. Staff were excellent and friendly. Great place and will definitely be a regular. P.S LOVE the fact the water is canned and not bottled for recyclable reasons 😍

The Ibis Styles Barnsley is a vibrant and quirky hotel located approximately 2 miles from the heart of Barnsley. The hotel features funky rooms, some equipped with sofabeds, and offers a laid-back restaurant as well as a stylish bar for guests to unwind in. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by exceptionally friendly reception staff who efficiently check them in and readily accommodate special needs such as accessible rooms for those with mobility requirements.
We came for my birthday and Jasmine couldn't have been more welcoming. She left a birthday card on the bed, which was lovely. The room was spacious and clean and very comfortable. The hotel is excellent value for money and very conveniently located for the attraction that we were visiting. We will definitely be returning.

First time visiting Barnsley, hotel was so convenient literally came off motorway and arrived at hotel. Room was basic but fresh and clean , great walk in shower. Breakfast was amazing so much choice and everything cooked fresh . We had an evening meal in the hotel a couple of times and although choice was very limited the meals were lovely. All the staff were so friendly and helpful Melissa in particular would ask us about our day and talk about places we could visit . We are hoping to come back to Yorkshire for longer visit next time and would be more than happy to come back to this hotel as we really couldn’t fault it .

I Stayed a week at the Ibis and it was a wonderful experience. The rooms where clean and tighty. I Never went to Europe before and was a little surprised on the space of the overall room because recent comments said it was spacious but I am also custom too American Hotels so I couldn't imagine what a small hotel room would be. It was a very lovely room and cozy though.

Yes I know this is a 4 star hotel but it earns a very solid 5 stars from me. From the wonderfully warm welcome, the uber friendly and kind staff, to the comfortable room and the glorious power shower, and the amazing breakfasts, this is a fantastic hotel. Located around 15 minutes walk from Dodworth station which is only one stop from Barnsley (there are hourly trains and frequent buses). The hotel is situated next to the motorway but is relatively quiet. There’s a bit of noise in the rooms from the corridor and other rooms’ doors but virtually no noise from outside. The noise is not much more than in any other hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious. The bathroom likewise. The shower is really top class, spacious and powerful. The room and bathroom were virtually spotless. Fast WiFi too. They are security and safety conscious as they lock the main doors at night and you need your room key to enter. There’s a Toby Carvery right next to the hotel. Overall, what stands out most of all is their friendliness and kindness, from the reception staff to the breakfast staff. Reasonable room prices too. Loved my stay, really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

I attended the Drone Pilot Academy training held at the Ibis Hotel in Barnsley and had the absolute pleasure of being looked after by Sarah, the chef here. From the moment I arrived, Sarah went above and beyond to make sure I was looked after with my meals. She made sure the food was just the way I liked it, always checking in, and her attention to detail and genuine care made a huge difference during my stay. Not only was the food excellent, but the way Sarah carried herself – friendly, professional, and passionate about what she does – really stood out. It’s rare to come across someone who takes such pride in both the quality of the food and the experience of the guest. Sarah is a credit to the hotel, and I genuinely feel she deserves recognition for the effort she puts in. She made my time here even more enjoyable and I’d happily recommend her to anyone staying here.

Stayed at this hotel as part of a coach trip. I had a double room which was clean and tidy and a good size. Bed was comfortable and shower was great. Tea and breakfast was also good. Room looked out over the motorway which was noisy but I did not notice with earplugs and slept very well. Was impressed with one of the staff called Ella, she was on shift in the evening and for breakfast. Very professional and polite. Overall a good hotel and a lovely stay.

I went here with a Caledonian travel mystery tour and it was alright. The food was alright, not anything incredible but it did the job. The rooms were quite large and well arranged. It was very hard to sleep though as it was just off the M1. Overall, a good hotel if you would like a budget hotel for 1 or 2 nights.
Noah C — Google review
Rooms are spacious and somewhat luxurious, price is reasonable and the hotel is in a nice location, being next to Tobey carvery gives a nice flexibility however the hotel does offer food which you can take to your room, a decent wine selection and free water at the bar, coffee loyalty card would be useful for frequent visitors. All in, its a nice hotel, not sure what some people are complaining about noise as when you shut the window its not very loud.

No words, other than ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! From stepping through the door, the service was awesome warm, friendly and informative with a hint of good humour. Food presentation was superb, and it's a fantastic concept where the different varieties of meat are brought out and hand carved direct to you. Eat as much as you like...will be dangerous as it's so damned good! Prepare to have to restrain yourself, or not...and I wouldn't blame you! Thank you, best and most unique dinner experience in quite some time. Next time I'm in Barnsley, I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend this place for a superb steak and meat fest.

Sports bar
The Garrison, located on Hanson Street, is a modern yet vintage pub that offers comfortable seating including sofas and high stools. The well-presented bar serves reasonably priced drinks such as Blue Moon. With a 160-inch screen, it's the perfect spot to watch football matches in a lively atmosphere. The venue also hosts live music gigs and provides ample space for relaxation both indoors and outdoors in the old cobbled yard. Visitors can enjoy good food and cold drinks while being able to bring their dogs along.
This was a brilliant pub for drinking, incorporating a modern feel with its vintage origins! The seating is comfortable especially sofas and the area next to the former disco bar is greatly constructed, counter is well-presented too. I had a well-priced pint of Blue Moon, appreciating the cleanliness of the area!

Great place for live music and entertainment in Barnsley. Loads of bands, djs and performances there on a regular basis. With a great bar and food, it's a recommended stop on a night out around Barnsley Town centre. Day or night.
Jamie C — Google review
Visited the disco room and the outside seating area so I cannot comment on the inside of the main part. However, there were plenty of bouncers that were polite, friendly and good at their job. No real issues with antisocial behaviour which is a worry sometimes with pubs. Music in the disco room was a playlist by the party hosts but the equipment used etc was very good and the venue itself was lovely. Service was great for drinks but cannot comment on any food as this was provided by the party hosts. Prices of drinks were about what you expect these days which is good and the option of fishbowl cocktails was great. Staff inside were lovely and friendly with great knowledge and bar skills. Overall, was a lovely experience.
Rebecca L — Google review
One of the best venues I've ever visited for a gig night. Went to see the local band "Farhan" and was not disappointed. Seeing a tight cool band that graces the stage at "Download and Bloodstock" is a surprise to savor and especially as it was a "free gig". (Not sure how or why but whose complaining! make hay while the sun shines) and "thank you" The venue is very clean and well maintained (in fact, one of the cleanest I've seen). Also the bathrooms are the best designed and maintained I've ever used and that makes a big difference to the quality of your experience. Also the theme with it's classical architecture blended into modern neo 70's style decor with cast iron balustrades and stone floors gives it that chic ambience that plays perfect in terms of allure. Also of note was the Pizza kitchen that served us a delicious ten inch for about £8 right there in the auditorium. The staff at the bar were welcoming and friendly and the security staff appeared to be"present but not aloof" and on departing were friendly and reassuring and not intimidating. In all what can be said? In that coming from Nottingham this would be a high bar to compete against. Well done and I look forward to a return in the near future. JJ.

Guests rave about the friendly service, with staff members like Jamie and Craig going above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcome.
Served by Steve who gave excellent, friendly customer service, quickly and thoroughly settled any queries I had about the menu. Food quality was amazing, especially for the low price compared to similar burger establishments. Robbie cooked a really good burger, and the chips by craig were too good. Well seasoned and yummy! Would recommend!

Be aware of takeaways! I bought 40 minutes ago a regular veggie (I am vegetarian)burger and regular cheeseburger with bacon, take away. When I arrived home both of them were with meat.!The person at the till did not understand my order. I am so dissapointed. It was already closed , I could.not go to tell them to change it.

First timers here and that was amazing great service with a smile helpful and quick but well prepared and presented burger. Will definitely try this again. Nice clean restaurant too. Well done Barnsley
Sez R — Google review
Ordered, with the friendly helpful staff, a regular cheeseburger, paprika fries and a coke= £15. There was so much dust on those fries that they were inedible and the meat in that burger was so bland. Overpriced below average food, but that vast premises will be costly, and that is what you are paying for. Would not recommend or ever return.

Came for our second visit to urban burger and it was great again. A gentleman gave me little boy some crayons and paper to keep him entertained. The food was amazing. Chips are the best I've had. I thought the burger was better than five guys. Will definitely be visiting again.

We’ve been here a few times now and it is generally good. The food can at times be a bit hit and miss, sometimes the burgers are lovely and juicy and the chips hot, sometimes not so much… Milkshakes are really good! And the staff are friendly. It is always cold in there though, the doors are always wide open. Love the reward scheme and the birthday burger!

Fish & chips restaurant
If you're on the hunt for an authentic British experience, look no further than Mother Hubbard’s in Barnsley. This charming eatery serves up classic fish and chips that are simply unbeatable. The fish is expertly cooked to achieve a delightful crispy exterior while remaining flaky and tender inside, complemented by golden, fresh chips that hit the spot every time. The menu offers a variety of options beyond the traditional fare, including grilled dishes and spicy selections for those who crave a bit of heat.
A great English experience!!! A true chippy!!! Being American we have nothing that even compares to this. I've been to many other Chip Shops throughout the UK, but this was hands down the best. The food was phenomenal. The service was great and the atmosphere was just the icing on the cake!!! The decor was perfect, all the way down to the Friday night drunks. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Worst experience ever. First of all met a very rude lady at the till. We placed dine in order, and when we went to the place. Kept waiting at the till for long and no body bothered to cater. Although it was not busy at all at around 09:15pm but the lady at till completely ignored us. When we asked for the food she rudely handed over food with all food boxes open, cold food , no tray, uncovered, no forks, no hand towel. When asked for hand towels she completely ignored. Right after eating the food I had a huge vomit. I ordered fish burger and cheese burger. Definitely it was not fresh. I really hope the management does some workshops to train till staff how to deal with customers and I hope the food is fresh next time as it used to be in the past.

5 stars – Classic Fish & Chips Done Right! I recently visited Mother Hubbard’s in Barnsley and was genuinely impressed. The fish was perfectly cooked – crispy on the outside and flaky inside – and the portion size was generous. Chips were golden and fresh, just how they should be. The staff were friendly and the service was quick, even during peak hours. The menu has plenty of variety, including grilled options and fiery fish for those who like a kick. I tried the fish bites too, and they were delicious! Prices are reasonable considering the quality and portion sizes. Overall, a great spot for classic British comfort food. Will definitely be back soon!

I’m a vegetarian due to a severe food intolerance. Ordered the veggie sandwich and was given chicken without initially realising. Asked staff about it and the woman on the till checked with the person cooking whether it was vegetarian. They said it was a different version (which they do not offer on the menu so this was a straight up lie). They did replace the meal with a veggie sandwich but I got quite unwell from the small amount I did eat of the original one (which was in fact meat and not vegetarian at all). While I appreciate the meal being corrected I don’t appreciate the “chef” trying to lie his way out of it. I understand mistakes are made but I’d have rather he owned up to the mistake than lie. Will not be coming back here again and cannot recommend it for vegetarians as despite having a veggie option, there’s a high chance you'll be served meat anyway.

Went in last week and it was late ish and got chips and kebab meat the chips looked like they had been there ages and some was black .. and the kebab meat was cold and full off grease and meat was hanging out of box .. same because I’ve been once before and had a chip butty and was nice ..

Had a really bad experience. The fish smelt bad and wife had an upset stomach almost straight away. The minced beef pie was so small it fitted in the breadcake. Sadly we will not be going again and I would advise not to waste your money. Go to a real chip shop instead

Locke Park Cafe is the perfect pit stop after a refreshing morning walk in Locke Park. This charming cafe offers a delightful range of options, from hearty breakfast buns and toasted tea cakes to savory sausage rolls and scrumptious scones, catering to all tastes including veggie and vegan choices. Open every day, rain or shine, it features both indoor and outdoor seating—ideal for enjoying your meal with furry friends since it's dog-friendly!
Came for lunch and some pudding, food was great. The Apple Crumble tasted like a heavenly drop. Recommend everyone to try before it's all gone! Fantastic team working there as well. All friendly and smiling.
Chris I — Google review
The cafe is nice, some of the staff are okay, but some seem like they are there against their will. The food isn't always good. Last time, the fries were burnt while the chicken nuggets were undercooked. However, the cakes are very good. On busy days, like during a festival, there isn't enough staff. They only have one cash register, so people ordering outside have to wait a long time. You have to wait about 35-45 minutes for food, even for a simple sandwich. I think a good solution would be to install a screen or a speaker for when the staff calls out orders. No one wants to stand by the cafe for 40 minutes waiting for their food. Many people, for example parents, go to the playground and can't always hear the staff shouting. This would not only help customers but also save the staff from losing their voices. I understand that it's a busy place because it's the only cafe in the park, but unfortunately, it doesn't deserve 5 stars.

This is a great quaint little quirky little cafe with lots of charm. The food menu has a good range of hot and cold foods. There are disabled friendly and dog friendly. They have an actual open fire which makes it different to most. The fact that this is in a beautiful park surroundings is amazing. Seating can be found inside and outside. The cade is clean tidy and well equipped and maintained. The staff are a nice bunch very friendly and helpful. I fully recommend this establishment you will not be disabled and the prices are fair.

We had a lovely lunch today. My granddaughter had chips and chicken nuggets. My husband and I both had ham and cheese panini with side salad and coleslaw. We shared a bowl of chips. Each of us had drinks, hot chocolate, tea and a water. Cost was £18.70. Our little dog was welcomed on a lead. The only down side was I had to ask for the table to be wiped. The food was lovely and tasty. We will visit again.

I haven't ever been inside of the Locke Park Cafe because normally I cue outside and grab a quick brew and piece of cake for me and my little one as we play in the lovely play area close by. Also, the staff have done a wonderful job serving members of the public like myself throughout the pandemic keeping us safe by following the rules put in place by the Government. Today however I got to go inside with my little family and gosh I am so glad I did. I absolutely love the decor, it's modern and stylish, contemporary design. The owners certainly have great taste that is for sure. I felt very much at home inside of the Cafe with large comfy sofas, tables and chairs to sit on. They have highchairs too for the mummy and daddies out there who have little ones who are messy eaters like my little girl who is 2 years old right now. The toilets are stylish and super clean they are even kitted out with baby changing facilities which is brilliant. When the weather is nice, you can also sit outside which a number of people were. We ordered a vanilla latte, green tea and cake, all of which were amazing, like really really amazing. The prices are extremely reasonable and affordable for most families, definitely somewhere to take the kids for a treat. We topped the visit off with a lovely bubblegum flavoured ice cream which my daughter ate and as a father I only thought it was right for me to have a bite or two. I can tell you now, the ice creams are perfect and super tasty. All on all they deserve their 5 star review from myself, I would go as far as to say this is one of the best cafe's is Barnsley. Keep up the good work! Such a friendly and happy place to be.

Staff is very rude. They were no customers in the cafe, still they were laughing for 5 min before offering some service, while looking at me. Also they didn’t let my 9 years old use the toilet, because is just for customers, even if I purchased from their location 3 min prior.

Amazing food and incredible service from the ladies serving both food and drinks. My wife had a gorgeous homemade pie with a freshly baked crust not microwaved like most places, creamy mash and fresh veg. I had a gorgeous burger, homemade onion rings, fresh salad and homemade coleslaw. To finish I had a delicious Biscotti dessert and cream. One of the best meals I've ever had and certainly the cheapest for such incredible quality. We've already booked for Sunday lunch (Dinner to us Northerners 😁). A couple in the corner were telling us how wonderful their meal was and said the Sunday dinner was just like homemade, so we booked that as well. We'll certainly be regulars from now on. 👌

It's also noted as being disabled-friendly with dog-friendly outdoor seating available. Customers appreciate the succulent chicken, customizable spice levels, complimentary side dishes, consistent quality, and varied menu.
Brilliant experience. First time visiting this particular Nando’s and we were very impressed. The staff were extra friendly and accommodating. Let us pick our own table, showed us where drinks, cutlery and toilets were which was a nice touch. Food came out straight away and cooked just right. I always have a good time at Nando’s but this one seemed extra special. Thanks!

Food is always good. But staff needs training. Asked for toilet roll for the toilets for my children to use it, as it was empty - I waited for some time. Didn’t see anyone - so went back to my seat. Next thing you know she brought me a giant toilet roll, an industrial circular one straight on my table where I sat with my family. What kind of service is that? Shocking! Said didn’t want it. Not coming here again.

Lovely time here, food was affordable, lots of options from the Menu. We had whole chicken sharing platter, peri peri chips and coleslaw, it was well cooked, tasty and service was appealing, atmosphere was relaxing, I had a nice time here. The staff were really cheerful, the manager served us making sure that our meals were nut free to the best of their ability.
Oyin I — Google review
Worst experience at any Nando’s ever. Starter came out extremely fast then to wait 30 mins for mains. It was not busy at all and if anything over staffed. For the 30 minuets I waited I watched plate after plate of food sit on the hot pass for ages waiting to be taken to tables. Then to see a basket of garlic bread (large amount) to be sat on the hot pass and been used has and when it was needed as a result the garlic bread we got was from this bowl was obviously hard and dry. Both chicken burgers that was ordered had bread that was extremely tough to eat. Chips was lifeless and tasted like they had been cooked weeks ago. The rainbow slaw came with out any dressing. The gravy was a quarter full and only enough to make one of the dry chips slightly moist.

When me and my friends went for a meal here we all ordered separately. My friend ordered a completely plain pitta with just the chicken on as she is autistic and doesn’t like certain textures. My other friend ordered some sort of burger. When the meals came out the pitta has all the stuff on that she specifically asked to not be on. My other friend’s burger came out and it was just a chunk of chicken on a plate with no bread. All confused we understand mistakes happen we decide to leave it as it didn’t really matter. But the attitude of the waitress that served us was disgusting and she acted like us being there was a massive inconvenience for her. My friend payed cash and the person serving did not have the change in the till so he said he would bring it over to the table. The change was never brought over till at the end of the night we got up and asked to which they were all very confused until one of the men said “oh shit I forgot, here” and gave her the change. I understand it’s not a good experience food place but it was simple things that were easily avoidable that they just kept getting wrong. It wasn’t busy either so they had no real excuse.

This store offered a great service, I wasn't the easiest person at the start. They offered understanding a gave great information and went out of their way to put it right. It wasn't their fault or issue but they made sure we were put right. Great staff.

Burnt meatball tubs and sub served for all my kids. Asian attendant scratching his body all over as we entered - who served us the subs. Said he wasn’t much bothered as he worked at the Chinese in town in the evenings. This was just part time!! After complaining they blamed the food defects on the guys working in the morning shift. Manager gave us free fruit shoot to compensate for the mess. Won’t be turning up here again. Avoid

2 young staff ever so polite , order was then taken over by an older lady presuming the owner talk about ignorance at its finest staff look scared of her she couldn't even smile! Was touching food and coins with same gloves on. Shop very warm don't know how these young staff can work in there without all air-conditioning on !! There's better jobs out there kids with decent managers

I normally don't post reviews but on this occasion as it has happened to me twice, I arrived at Subway at 7:20 only to be told that we can only have called sandwiches. The stuff looked as though they were eagerly trying to finish early and didn't even apologise, this has happened twice as I say!!! I think you should be able to get the food that you want up until closing time and not be disappointed just because the stuff want an early finish, highly disappointed!!!!!!

i’m a frequent customer at the peel centre subway and the main reason i go there is because of the exceptional service the team provides. HOWEVER it has come to my attention that the manager highly mistreats the staff, paying the staff late, leaving them with no money for travel or even food AND they way the manager speaks to the other staff is disgraceful. calling them “stupid”, ”ignorant” and even “docile” i think it is absolutely disgusting.
Cod- S — Google review
Disappointing service experience. Despite arriving at 7:15 PM, I was informed that they couldn’t serve meatballs as it was too late to heat any more. This lack of flexibility and accommodation left much to be desired. Overall, a letdown in terms of service quality.

Can't comment on food as we walked out! Went to the store today and ordered, two female staff on duty. One asked what bread. The other "staff member" pushed past her, took over my husband's meal and covered it in things he hadn't asked for. when asked if we wanted anything else I said "My husband's meal, as that's not his. He doesn't eat half the things on there!" The staff member became defensive saying we had asked for them, herein lies the problem. We were both asked what bread. We weren't asked if we wanted them toasted, I don't like toast so had to ask for it to be cold. I was asked what salad and sauce I wanted My husband wasn't spoken to at all. The staff member didn't even bother asking him. She said he had no choice, Fine, keep them and we'll leave. The manager came out to make new his sandwich, staff member is still sighing loudly and rolling her eyes at us. Then one staff member asks who the nachos are for. "Them!" We never ordered nachos. I don't like them. The staff member yells "Yes you did, you wanted them!" When told we didn't she actually rolled her eyes, sighed loudly and threw her hands up in the air. That was the final straw, I told them to keep the sandwiches and we left! Having attended another Subway, I'm told that most of their clientele is from this store and they had such awful service, they walked out! Steer well clear and go to Stairfoot instead!

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Barnsley town center, Bar Ruelle has undergone an intriguing transformation since its inception in 2019. Originally a restaurant, it returned to its pub roots in 2024 under the guidance of its original owners. The establishment features a spacious single room that opens up at the back, highlighted by a striking bar counter that invites patrons to enjoy quality beers and ales.
Recently reopened as a bar , not a bistro as before. Same owners. Six real ales. Craft beers and lagers. Good service. Free bar snacks at times and pork pies to buy. I think you can take your own food in. Nice addition to local real ale outlets.

I can't rate the food because we didn't eat any, we were there to play fiddles, banjos, guitars, bodrhans and mandolins! We were there to play folk music, and in particular, Irish jigs and reels, as well as other tunes. I've knocked 1 star off the as the Bar Ruelle is a modern style bar, but the beer was well kept and flowed, even the tunes flowed! We all had a good time playing music from Ireland, Scotland, England and a couple of Welsh tunes whose name I cannot spell!

A superb place, perhaps the finest place to eat in Barnsley. We had a selection of Tapas which they customised to our own tastes and it simply could not have been better, the most beautiful dishes which we shared between three of us. Great beer, fine tasting wine and owners who care about their customers and their experience. I will certainly be returning.

Is this place closed for good? Only managed to get in once and that was months ago, every time since has been shut (probably 5 or 6 attempts). Literally stood outside it now and the shutters are down again even though the opening times say otherwise. 3 stars cos the only time I got in was brilliant.

You're a Peaky Blinders themed pub and don't do real ale or any beers remotely themed towards the show. What is the point. You've no USP except wearing flat caps. Do some interesting old timey beers please. There's a pub called the Garrison in Mansfield you could learn a lot from. Service btw was excellent, nothing negative to say on that front.

Guests can indulge in an impressive array of grilled meats served directly from skewers, creating a unique and interactive dining experience. The restaurant has quickly become popular among meat lovers, offering a fixed-price menu that includes not only succulent cuts but also a delightful selection of fresh salads and sides.
Excellent quality food and fantastic service. All the meats were excellent and the staff kept bringing more. There’s a pleasant self-service salad/buffet bar too. It was basically empty on our afternoon visit so we got excellent personal service and everything cooked specifically for us. The minted lamb was my personal favourite. We will be back.

So atmosphere 1☆, as I went 9pm Thu and was the only diner for 95% of my meal! It's a huge space and I'm only guessing at 200 covers. (This says something about Wakefield, as it'd have many diners in my home town on Thu-Sat.) Staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. Good selection of meats and a well stocked salad + counter.

Just had a lovely meal. The ladies were lovely, helpful and polite and the men serving the meat, Andre and Ervin, were attentive and polite. My visit today, I got the feeling that nothing could have been too much trouble for them. The chefs were spot on, the meat was lovely and tastey. The salad bar, on the both occasions I went up was restocked and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the garlic mushrooms. To end the meal, to my surprise I had a piece of chocolate cake with a birthday candle in which made me day. What a lovely gesture. Thank you for a very lovely and pleasant dining experience. 😁

Almost don’t want to write this because if everyone knew how amazing this place was we’ve never get a table! Truly the best restaurant ever! The music, the lighting, the people - and my god - the food! I would happily live of the minted lamb, garlic bread and pineapple for the rest of my life! Honestly all the meats are incredible and the salad bar takes some topping!! We love it here - almost as much as we love Kev! He’s one in a million, the kindest person and a credit to Estabulo! Thank you all once again for the best meal and service!

Out for a Birthday party, there are 6 of us. Absolutely phenomenal experience! From the moment I walked into this all-you-can-eat Brazilian gem, I was blown away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, but what truly made the night unforgettable was the incredible staff. Friendly, professional, and impressively prompt they made sure the food kept coming and that we were never left waiting or wanting for anything. And the food? Simply perfection. Every cut of meat was cooked to absolute mastery juicy, flavorful, and served straight from the skewer with that signature Brazilian flair. The variety was staggering, and each bite somehow better than the last. It was clear the chefs take great pride in what they serve. Sadly, I had to admit defeat far too soon, I filled up way earlier than I wanted to! But even still, every mouthful was a joy. If I could’ve kept going, I would have. This place is a dream for meat lovers and anyone who appreciates top-tier service. Already planning my next visit... and next time, I’ll come prepared!

✨🔥 My evening at Estabulo was nothing short of heavenly. 🔥✨ 🥩 The Scottish steak with chimichurri — cooked to perfection, tender and rich with flavour. 🍷 A beautiful glass of rosé caught the candlelight and turned the whole table into a sacred moment. 🕯️💫 🍟 Crisp fries. 🥗 Fresh, vibrant salad. 🍩 Warm churros to finish. Every detail sang with beauty. 🎶 But above all… 🙏 Patrick from the Philippines. His care, his gentleness, his radiant service lifted the whole evening to another level. 🌍❤️ Thank you so much, Patrick — you made me feel truly seen. 👑 Estabulo is not just a restaurant — it is an experience. Regal, poetic, unforgettable. 🌹💎 👑 No wonder Estabulo feels so royal. The King has arrived. 👑 Thank you, Rob ✨

Mixed review.. Prawn cocktail Tempura prawn starters Frickle burger with onion rings side And a roast chicken dinner. The prawns were chewy so didn't eat...the bread on side of plate was eaten. The battered tempura prawns were slightly overcooked which resulted in the batter slightly burnt ... I eat them anyway but wish I'd left them. Plates taken no asking why prawn salad not eaten. My burger didn't taste like a burger.... First time I've not eaten one tbh. The onion rings again burnt.... There was two that were ok I just ate one but was put off.... The chunky chips were spot on.... The dinner was very good but it wasn't roast chicken as described on website because it hasn't been updated yet....... So the did us a chicken breast dinner. The Yorkshire puddings was excellent and nice gravey The staff were pleasant....and nice. They did ask me if everything was ok.... I explained the above and when it came to paying they had taken off the onion rings..... No mention of the prawn cocktail uneaten. We wouldn't eat here again. Unless I was desperate for chunky chips or a Yorkshire pudding lol

Nice decor, friendly staff, we had a screaming child some of it, but not a criticism of the restaraunt, but wish parents would refrain from taking noisy kids in places where people come to relax and spend more for quality, use weatherspoons if you cant control them!, now the food, at £30 you expect a great steak, meat quality was good, but i have had better at this price, medium rare as requested (visit the bridge inn at newmiller for a similary priced steak, it just tastes better, thinner cut), potatoe wedges imo not chips, my preference would be a thinner cut chip so it tates more like chips and not potatoe, however, they were coated very nice. the pate, no issues with that at all, tasty, not sure salad was a good choice with the steak and chips, and the bluecheese sauce not as thick as i would like. the 3 course meal was very substantial, i think they could reduce sizes a tad and charge a little less, £20-25 would make me think about coming back, the veg lanc hotpot delicious, as was the pea and asparagus-but too large for a starter, well done!, best in elsecar area, but not up to the standard for the prices compared with the best. get portion size right on the three course(reduce size on starter), veg not salad with the steak, thicker sauce, and try and get those prices down by at least £5 and it would be a winner i would come back regular. support this business!

Me and mum went in for dinner today and it never fails to impress us. From the staff to the food to the cleanliness everything was beyond words. The main two serving were 2 women both wearing glasses. Not sure what their names were but they were both so friendly and welcoming. The food was unreal. Especially the desserts we both had a Maltesers cheesecake which was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. It was the first time I’d been in a while and I can’t wait for my next visit ❤️

We arrived at the Elephant and Castle and were greeted straight away with a warm welcome and a friendly smile. We were seated away from most of the hustle and bustle of the restaurant (which we really appreciated) and asked straight away what drinks we would like. We had a few minutes perusing the menu and were asked if we had decided what we wanted to eat in a good, timely manner. We both ordered 'The Posh One' breakfast. The food was clearly a very high quality, with immaculate presentation. It's more than clear that great pride is taken in the sourcing, cooking and presenting of the dishes. The potatoes that come with the breakfast were particularly tasty. We were given some time to chat after we finished our food before the plates were cleared. We were then asked if we would like anything else. We asked for the bill and this was brought to us straight away, again with the upmost professionalism and warmth that we experienced throughout our whole dining experience. We could not find one thing to complain about or to recommend to better the service. Absolutely A-star.

I ordered at 4 pm (justeat app) and arrived at 4:20pm. It's a 10-minute trip from curry house to my house. Poor quality food. No taste. Chicken was not freshly cooked. They used frozen chicken strips and microwaved in ready-made jar sauces. Excess water found in both dishes. Could not taste anything! The dishes were not freshly cooked. My dog didn't like it either!

Today, for a family lunch, we tried the Sunday buffet and were pleasantly surprised. The food was good, especially for chicken lovers – they offered five different chicken curries along with a variety of rice dishes. We went to Bells on Monday. It is a lovely, nicely decorated place and the young waitress was very polite and helpful. It was burger night, every burger £14. We both ordered burgers. I had a dirty chicken and my husband a Bells burger. They arrived really well presented. However, having them in a board makes them difficult to eat. The waitress was lovely and happily provided a plate for me. The food was fine if not anything out of the ordinary. The bill came to £52.50 for 3 and a half pints of beer and 2 burger meals. This seems very expensive as the food should have been £28. Unfortunately we didn't really think about it until we were on the way home. Wish we had been given an itemised bill!! We did leave a tip on top so it worked out as an expensive Monday night out.

Ate here on a very busy new years eve, every table was booked and the bar area packed. Despite this, the service and atmosphere was on point and the food was absolutely phenomenal. We will definitely be back again soon.

We had been before for Sunday lunch and enjoyed it so thought we would try the evening. It was too bright, too noisy and the service was not great, asked for salt and pepper and salt was brought so had to ask again for pepper. Removed a plate before it was finished and had to be called back. No check backs to see if the steak was cooked to our liking, chips dumped in the centre of the table, no veg or other sides provided, the G&T we ordered were wrong but we couldn't even attract the attention of anyone to speak to them! Then the bill was wrong too. They add 10% service charge which for the first time ever we asked to be removed. The food was OK but the sauce on the fillet Rossini was not good at all and it lacked the crouton that makes the dish. It was disappointing. We will not be back. It's more suited to big parties and lacks any intimacy and ambience for couples.

First time at Mezzaluna's, and will definitely return. Lovely clean restaurant Attentive staff Exceptional food. Me and husband had brushetta fir starters, both had fillet steak, one with chips and the other with vegetables. To finish off we both had the Tiramisu - one of the best I've ever tasted!!! Will definitely return

I recently visited Mezzaluna, and had a lovely experience! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a nice cosy vibe that makes it perfect for both date nights and dinners with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive. I recommend!

My first and last visit. Food was lovely however the service was something else. Did not get my side order of vegetables had to ask and then ask again they eventually arrived when I’d nearly finished my meal. Then Leo the owner came over when a lot of our party where at the bar paying n said our time was up, removed drinks and moved people’s personal possessions while he cleared the table. I said that he was quite rude to which Leo just laughed. We all paid but then apparently one of us had not paid, Leo again was rude, we each paid extra just to get out of the restaurant we then concluded he had charged us for someone who had cancelled. Dreadful customer service, which was a shame as the food was good
Rebecca A — Google review
Decor was nice but it's a very noisy, busy restaurant. The prices are good and so was the food but it's not the place for a relaxing meal where you want to chat as you had to shout to be heard above the noise. The waiting staff all seemed flustered and rushed. People waiting for parts of their meal and confussion over what was ordered even though our orders were sent in before. It reminded me of a school canteen. After finishing my meal, I headed to the ladies, came back to find my jacket, drink and glasses gone and everyone stood by the bar queing to pay. Luckily someone had seen the staff moving them and grabbed them for me. I paid and then along with everyone else we had to chip in and pay for the meal of the person who had cancelled over 24 hours before. I've had more relaxing meals, nicer experience and better customer care in McDonald's. I definitely won't return to this place.

Tandoori Hut is a spacious two-story venue that showcases both classic and contemporary Indian dishes. It offers an extensive range of curries, generous portion sizes, affordable prices, and delectable naans. Although the restaurant has undergone changes since relocating, it remains a popular choice amongst customers who appreciate its excellent food quality and friendly staff. The addition of an upstairs dining area has addressed concerns regarding noise levels, creating a more pleasant atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their meals.
Amazing food. Great service. Very clean place. Great value for money. Possibly the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Four of us went for a birthday meal. We weren’t asked if it was a special occasion. Four different meals. Two different starters. Plenty of food. Very tasty. No complaints.

Delicious Indian restaurant! Naan breads were humongous and truly have a dish catered to everyone! Would definitely recommend. Staff were also very friendly and catered to us really well although there was a massive group of us so we might’ve been quite loud. Parking on site free and the building itself is very nice and clean on the inside

Had a great meal out tonight eating at 6pm with my sister at this lovely restaurant. Leah served us and she was so polite , attentive and welcoming towards us. She is a credit to your restaurant. The food was delicious and great value. All the staff were really friendly too. Will definitely return with the wider family ! Thankyou Leah and staff.

The food is delicious. The place itself is amazing, absolutely spotless!!!very bright and spacious. We always go as a couple and always get seated on tables that can seat 4 people so plenty of space for all your food and drink. It's got ample parking space round the back. Would definitely recommend hence the 5 star review.

Lovely food! The staff member that served is was very attentive. Asked for one meal to be not spicy which they catered for. However after barely finishing our meal, we were asked to move to the bar area to finish our drinks so they could give the table to someone else. This wouldn't normally bother us however we had only been sat at the table an hour and we hadn't been asked if we wanted desert. Just ushered off before our food had settled.

Unfortunately I was too hungry to get any photos, but still needed to review. Our favorite Indian but on this occasion we wanted something different, and to my surprise there were multiple new items on the menu. This was such a great surprise and it was absolutely fantastic. Instead of ordering out usual we opted for 2 new lamb dish, and let me tell you they were excellent. Still had it Asian medium which supplied that generous kick, but the 2 new dishes were great, tasty and so satisfying. My only comment would be that the excessive tomato garnish could be toned down. The Naan bread was as good as it always is and the pickle tray extremely tasty. Can't wait to be back.

Tandoori Hut restaurant used to be a favorite of mine, but my recent visits have been disappointing. The quality of the food has significantly declined and no longer matches the authentic Indian cuisine they once served. The chicken was too hard, and the Chicken Biryani was dry. This has happened on two separate occasions, suggesting a consistent drop in standards. They might want to consider changing the cook, as it’s no longer worth dining there.

Nestled in a charming location, Beatson House Restaurant offers an intimate dining experience that beautifully blends modern British cuisine with traditional Sunday lunch. The cozy atmosphere is enhanced by floral wallpaper, creating a warm and inviting space for guests. During my recent visit to celebrate a special occasion, I was greeted by the delightful host James and his attentive team, who made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
Had the pleasure of dining here tonight to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary (actually back in July - but due to circumstances beyond everyone’s control it happened tonight). From the moment we arrived James was the perfect host - we were made to feel more than welcome, we were made to feel at home. The atmosphere was so relaxed and James and Ava (hope I have spelt that right) were so friendly, so welcoming and so professional. Had a relaxing drink in the bar area before going to our table which is always nice. James fully explained the various options available and was very attentive without being overbearing. Our food was stunning, simply stunning. Scallops and Pate to start Cod wrapped in pancetta with butterbean, chorizo and red onion cassoulet and Fillet Steak with twice cooked chips - cooked to perfection for mains Dark chocolate Delice for Dessert. Service was stunning - professional without bowing and scraping (which I personally hate) and just plain friendly. We were not rushed at all, just made very welcome. No hesitation in recommending this restaurant and we WILL DEFINITELY return. Thank you for a superb evening.

It's been a good many years since I've been to Beatson house and it was entirely worth visiting again. We booked and came at opening (as parents of 3 kids... It's always about the early meal now), it was just the two of us.. which is a rarity. We got arguably the best table in front of the window which gives you a lovely view of the blossom trees across the road and some hints of the out lying country side. This view combined with the good taste in music, some nice candles and lovely decor makes it a really lovely romantic venue to be in. My wife had the scallops for starter and I had the soup (butternut squash soup) both came quickly and we're amazing. The soup... Probably the best I've ever had. For main I had the tagine and the Mrs had the duck. Again exceptionally well seasoned and beautifully cooked. The service was exceptional, friendly and efficient! If you are looking for that intimate date night meal out... This. Is. The. Place! Absolutely will be going again, just not leaving it so long this time

Follow The Pecking Order 23 on Facebook for all our reviews. Overall experience 9.4/10 Food 9/10 Service 9.9/10 Cleanliness 10/10 Atmosphere/Setting 9/10 Value 9/10 This House is through the roof!! A nice location. Ample parking at the back. Overall this was a very satisfying experience. The service started brilliantly. We were greeted at the bar by the Head Waiter who instructed his staff to seat us at our prebooked table. Our drinks orders were taken and then the Head Waiter came over to inform of the Specials on the menu and the soup of the day. A short wait for our drinks followed by our usual mix of starters. We had the scallops which were on the specials menu. These were cooked perfectly, sat on a cauliflower puree, a thoroughly enjoyable dish.. The Duck Orange Pate had a good flavour and was seved with a chutney, which slightly overpowered the pate and bread. The wild mushroom arancini, the only real disappointment of the meal, was a little bland, we couldn't really taste the mushrooms and garlic if there was any present though great texture. The marinara sauce they sat on was a good strong clean and fresh flavour. We had the beef sirloin Sunday Roast main course served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes , mash and vegetables. The beef was cooked to perfection and the gravy was exceptionally delicious. Mash was smooth and creamy and well cooked vegetables. The horseradish served with it had good kick, and seemed to be homemade with real grated horseradish. We had to try the seasonal bonfire parkin cake. Although nice and a bit different from the usual menu desserts it was in need of some more sauce or ice cream. The sticky toffee pudding was light and full of flavour. The blackberry parfait was a little bland lacking the punch of blackberry I was hoping for, but pleasant enough. Although the food was very good overall, it was the service which was outstanding at this place. We were offered drinks at exactly the right moment, we were checked on to see if everything was OK, the staff were all courteous and respectful, taking care to apologise for any interruptions they needed to make to offer drinks etc. The chap running the team was meticulous in his work and orchestrated everything impeccably. This would have been our first 10/10 for service but one of the waitresses brought our last drink holding the glass by the top with her fingers all around the rim. We will definitely be returning to try the midweek menu . The Pecking Orders final verdict. Being just a few minutes off the M1 motorway it's definitely worth a detour if you're passing.

This is a decent resteraunt in a very nice area. The service here is ok, polite young staff just a bit slow at times even though it's not very busy and having to ask for things a few times but nice and friendly nevertheless. The main courses were the real let down unfortunately I would say largely overpriced for the quality. Too many things happening on the plate with not much flavour. The resteraunt itself is nice but felt a bit dated and lacking atmosphere.

You all did a fantastic job, it ran like clockwork (well for us, not sure how the kitchen was) food was exceptional as always, staff could not have done anymore for everyone, and as always it was a pleasure to have Abby and Lisa as our hosts! I was inundated with messages from my family and friends last night saying how gorgeous their food was and how fabulous the whole evening was. So, please from us all, give yourselves a huge pat on the back, you exceeded yourselves yet again! See you all again soon! Sorry the birthday boy and his friends weren’t in the photo but he was itching to get to town for his 1st legal pint, though he’s not feeling to clever about it today.

A Heavenly Halal Experience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As a food enthusiast, it's always a delight to come across a restaurant that not only serves halal food but also exceeds expectations in terms of quality, service, and atmosphere. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Alam's Lounge with my family, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Despite arriving earlier than the restaurant's opening time, Abaz Khan graciously welcomed us and promptly set up a lovely table for our family. This gesture of accommodation was heartwarming and set the tone for the rest of our visit. He also checked-in and allow us to pray in their place. The menu offered a mouthwatering selection of Indian dishes, and we eagerly ordered Chicken Biryani Rice, Korma and Pilau Rice, Paratha Bread, and Mango Lassi. Each dish was cooked to perfection, with rich flavors and spices that showcased the culinary prowess of this restaurant chefs. The generous portions and reasonable pricing added to our overall satisfaction with the meal. Our waitress, Macey, truly went above and beyond in ensuring our comfort and happiness. Her attentive service, friendly demeanor, and helpfulness in providing a room for prayer made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Macey''s consistent check-ins and genuine interest in our satisfaction demonstrated her professionalism and dedication to customer care. In conclusion, Alam's Lounge provided us with a memorable and delectable halal dining experience. The exceptional food, warm hospitality, and attention to detail made it a perfect choice for our family. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an outstanding Indian culinary experience. Thanks Abaz and Macey!

Guests rave about the warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and exceptional food offerings.
I went here for lunch with two friends and it was lovely as always. Great choice of gluten free dishes. I accidentally ordered non gluten free Yorkshire puddings and these were quickly changed with no fuss. I offered to pay for my mistake but they insisted it wasn't a problem. I've been here a number of times now with different family and friends and all have enjoyed it. I look forward to my next visit...the Christmas menu looks amazing! P.s. The photo of the fish and chips was the small portion, they also do a larger size.

Primarily a food pub as beer selection is poor. Had a pint of Shipyard which was only pale ale on tap. Place was packed out with Sunday lunch munchers and is clearly popular. Did feel a bit cramped and no where to sit if not eating but beer garden has plenty of tables. Have eaten here before though not for a few years - recall it was decent.

Just right. The Sunday roasts were spot on. We were a party of nine and everyone enjoyed it. The burgers were enjoyed by those who ordered them - asking for ingredients to be left off or added was no problem at all. Staff were lovely. Visited today to have a birthday meal for my fiance, after going out walking. The pub was lovely, the staff were friendly, helpful and gave great customer service. The food was absolutely fantastic and so flavoursome. We had one of the specials each, Steak and Salmon. Nothing was wasted. I was too full for dessert but my fiance had Mississippi Mud Pie, but I did have a bit he left. My photos haven't come out too well... but we can highly recommend and hopefully will go again soon. Thank you all.

Good food, reasonably priced. We had the sharing platter to start, which would probably have been enough had we appreciated the size of it. I had Lasagne for the main course and requested fries and peas instead of salad, which was no problem. A good atmosphere, not sure how child friendly it is as the clientele appeared to be mostly groups in the 30 to 60 range.

Nestled in the heart of Mapplewell, The Talbot Inn & 1776 Restaurant is a delightful blend of history and modern charm. This beautifully transformed 17th-century coaching inn boasts a cozy atmosphere with its hot-mustard velvet armchairs and inviting open fires. Guests can indulge in a rotating selection of craft ales while savoring traditional English fare, from sharing plates to hearty pies and chargrilled mackerel.
Talbot has long been known for its restaurant upstairs. Haven't been for many years but last Wednesday we decided to give the quiz a go. We also ate. The bar food is sublime. Many pubs state "home cooked". Well this pub is 100% home cooked. Last week two of us had a burger and one had the chicken pie and Mash. Onion rings were fresh. Crispy and juicy. Light and tasty. Chips were home cut and cooked. Burgers dense and meaty. Huge! This week (see pics) we had a burger, Chicken Shwarma and Sausage and mash. Again BLOODY LOVELY! Can't fault the food. Quiz is fast paced and challenging. Harry (quizmaster and bar personnel extraordinaire) keeps it going, he's quick witted, dry and funny. All the staff are lovely. The pub decor is well done. It retains an olde world vibe but has modern keynotes. Loos are good. Clientele range from 20 somethings to retirees. It's a great mix. Well worth a visit!

Absolutely fantastic pub. Family run. Great, friendly, attentive service. Brilliant selection of drinks. It's the kitchen that sets this place apart however. Everything is freshly made in house. Even down to the complimentary lavender short breads that come with every hot drink that you order. Simply stunning. The menu changes regularly. The portions are very generous. Can't sing the praises of the puddings enough. Last time I was there, I had a pineapple rum upside down cake. Individually moulded. With a ladle full of fresh made Creme Anglaise. Absolutely stunning!

There was a great variety of dishes and we enjoyed them all. We decided to have the pairing wine option, which added to the experience. Tavy, the wine expert. Nestled in Barnsley, The Mumbai Lounge is a delightful haven for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine. Diners rave about the rich flavors and aromatic dishes that transport you straight to India with every bite. One guest enjoyed the chicken tikka bhuna and garlic chili curry, noting their vibrant taste but wishing for a bit more heat—an experience that highlights how personal spice preferences can be!
My first time here and definitely won't be last. Food was really tasty and for price I don't know how they still in business tbh. Only slight niggle and it is only a niggle was it was a bit chilly in the restaurant which meant I had to eat my curry quick as it was going cold a bit quicker than I would have liked. But again for price I can't fault it service is polite and friendly (yes it's a bit of a wait but there are only so many staff and at price they charging it's obviously popular) but if you can be patient trust me you won't be disappointed.

Customer service is frantic and awful. The waiter seemed to be in an extreme rush and threw the mixed grill sizzler at the table such an aggressive tone. Food was good, nothing mind blowing, but good quality. The big surprise was no clear statement that we have to only pay in cash. I had to pay £126 in cash, despite them ignoring the 5 course menu offer, they increased the price. Very shocked and surprised when I wasn’t allowed to keep the receipt and forced to take a picture. I was informed online via their instagram message that food is halal except the lamb tikka but calling in they said it’s all halal. The messaging is very inconsistent and clear they’re conducting tax evasion.

First visit, travelled 40 mins. won’t be returning. 7pm in September & it was FREEZING inside. It did not warm up and was there for nearly 2 hour. I couldn’t even take my jacket off and could have easily got my big coat out the car. Food was nice but slow service. Pint of Coke was completely flat and tasted funny, clearly not genuine coke despite being charged about £3 a pint. Cash only, which was inconvenient. Looks run down inside and out. Meal deal was really good price and food was nice but overall not impressed

Tha food is wonderful, however, it's cash only, make sure you ask for your receipt or you won't get one. Service when we went there last week, was slow and I'm not totally sure how to describe the two guys working the tables, one was really nice, the other though was pleasant, but not sure about him! We were 8, 6 adults one 5 year old and a baby, and we were a loud group, so maybe he had reservations about us. We did have a lovely evening despite my gripes.

The Meadows Brewers Fayre is a welcoming family-friendly pub and restaurant chain that offers a delightful mix of classic dishes and international favorites. Guests often rave about the friendly and attentive staff, who contribute to an enjoyable dining experience. While the portions are generous and well-prepared, some visitors have noted occasional shortages in menu items, particularly during busy times like Sunday roasts or breakfast service. The kids' menu could use more variety as certain options may not always be available.
Really friendly staff. Good portions and cooked properly. I think the staff at the Brewers Fayre The Meadows should go and give some training to the staff at the Brewers Fayre the Redwood at Newcastle under Lyme because the difference in quality is unbelievable. And I thought all Brewers Fayre restaurants would be the same. I was wrong

Had breakfast & evening meal here as part of PremierInn deal. While the food was ok the tables were sticky & with old food stuck on them, the floor had last night's litter on it. The plates were cold for breakfast & so was the 'hot' breafast. Poor menu, many options covered in breadcrumbs, pastry, lots of bread & carbohydrates for buffet breakfast. Overpriced & poor quality

I enjoyed the Sunday roast not big choice meat sounds like it was a busy day. The kids section was a little disappointing both meals the kids pick wasn't available Good choice of drinks on the bar anf friendly and polite staff Overall a good experience

Very friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately, breakfast service was very slow on my first morning, but this was due to staff sickness. Tasty food.

I arrived late (9pm), but couldn't fault the staff. They were friendly, attentative and the food arrived quickly...although we were the only ones still dining! It's the first time I've frequented this Brewers Fayre, and wouldn't rule out going back. Food was OK, and prices reasonable.

Family get together, lovely place for kids and families to meet play area in and out side, lovely food had cottage pie, lovely but should come with chips not enough to eat without chips on but everyone else enjoy themselves, low mark's is for going to have dessert but went to toliet and the smell was horrific put me off having dessert. So good night poor cleaning in toilets.

Was plenty of seats available, was lovely & helpful, only down side for me was they was hardly any mince in they lasagna also maybe look into adding coleslaw as an additional for the salad too!

Restaurant
The Royal Pub & Restaurant is a charming establishment that offers a variety of experiences. It features a selection of beers including Tetleys and guest beers, along with en-suite bed and breakfast accommodations that are dog-friendly. The venue boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside and hosts delightful carol singing sessions leading up to Christmas. Guests can enjoy cocktails, tapas, or Sunday lunch in different areas such as the restaurant, bar with live music on Sundays, or outdoor seating under a canopy.
We had our first visit here today, and the food was amazing! Best tapas we have eaten in the UK. All the dishes were beautifully handmade and tasty. Photos don't do justice.

This place has gone so downhill. It was dirty and cold, the toilets were disgusting. I had to ask for the heating on even though everyone in the pub was sat with their coats on. The pork belly that used to be a nice piece of meat is now small chunks of deep fried gristle. The staff were happy to be having a chat between themselves rather than serving at the bar and the cola was 100% unbranded cheap cola. Positives were the chicken skewers and the Jake but aside from that I would not recommend.

Visited this evening for the first time in a while food is fantastic quality Sunday roast menu and a fantastic sticky toffee pudding it’s an absolute highlight on the menu. This pub is an asset to the village, service was fantastic. Hope to see it doing great things in the future.

This was a great find. The food is delicious. I had 3 tapas dishes (squid, prawns and paella) and they were very filling. The customer service was great. I went on a Wed and there was a quiz on which was great fun. They have a great range of drinks. Recommend

Something has changed and for the better…. We stopped to going into the Royal as it was like the only way is Essex, skinny jeans and tight vests and that were the men ..…. It’s now more like it used to be when it first opened, far nicer clientele, the two girls that looked after us Kate and Amy were exceptionally tentative from start to finish… I’m really surprised at some of the bad comments on here & can only think that they must be some of the young chavvy only way is Essex past clientele… The cocktail menu is extensive and the tapas menu has a lot to choose from. The dishes that we ordered were exceptional, fresh, very tasty & really good sized portions. For two women having a catch up and having a bite to eat, we had a wonderful three hours there & weren’t rushed from our tables like you can be in some places, we enjoyed it so much that we are booking to go back again together and also planning to go with our other halves separately as well. Well done Kate and Amy and the kitchen staff for looking after us. The garden and the marquee are exceptional too, and the pictures that are on here do not do the royal any justice at all. I’m so glad that we have something on our doorstep that we can go to without being surrounded by fake tan and Turkey teeth 🤣

Me and a group of friends went here last night for Tapas and drinks. The food was absolutely amazing, we had nine dishes between us and each one was delicious. The bar staff ard waitress's were all lovely and friendly. They even went out to a local shop to get blackcurrant cordial for us as they had run out and we were drinking lager and black. So service above and beyond. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go again soon.

Nestled in the charming city of York, The Potting Shed cafe/restaurant offers a delightful escape for food lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. With its enchanting beer garden, guests can bask in the summer sun or retreat to cozy potting sheds for some shade. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for families and friends. Diners rave about the generous portions and beautifully presented dishes that are simply mouthwatering—especially the delectable desserts!
We needed somewhere for lunch on our drive up to the seaside and stumbled across the Potting Shed. Unlike the name suggests, this is not a small shed but a huge, comfortable restaurant and cafe located in a large converted farmyard barn. The inside is simply stunning and worth a visit if you're into interior decoration or are considering converting an old building. The quality of the food also matches the interior and you can expect locally sourced products, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. The staff were genuinely super - efficient and professional, and were able to cope with the wide mix of customers. There were young mothers with prams, older couples, large families and dog walkers and yet everyone had plenty of space in the different rooms and everybody was welcomed. A great find!

We called for a late lunch. Three of us came. We all had different items on the menu I had the Philly brisket burger. The chips were the best part of the meal as it was a mix of sweet potato and normal fries however they were underneath the brisket so quite soggy, the cheese on the brisket was horrific and lumpy (never had it taste like that before). The wine was lovely. The Caesar salad was nice. And the salmon salad was nice just heavy on the lettuce side. I usually love this place and would usually give it 5 stars but today’s meal has been not the greatest. Hopefully next time.

Well this was unexpected. We came for the goats but the Scones stole the show. A wonderful dog friendly café. With honestly the best scones I have ever had. Honestly two mouthfuls in, myself and my partner were in awe. Soft, warm buttery and fluffy. Milkshakes for my 8 year old went down a treat. Honestly this place is fantastic, dog friendly with a dog menu.

Simply AMAZING!! The food was unreal, I wanted to bathe in the gravy that came with my meal 😂 the portions were very sizable and the price reasonable. Beautiful presentation too! The deserts are to die for! Such a great selection! Staff are lovely and remembered us from the previous visit 😊 The venue is very cute, it was so nice to sit in the garden by the river, catching the sun and listening to ducks play in the water 😊 Can't recommend them enough and will be coming back regularly!

Me and my Partner visited today for the first time. We was quickly greeted and seated with plenty of tables available. At the time we had to wait 10 mins for the lunch menu to start which we didn't mind at all. We ordered 2 gingerbread mocha's which arrived promptly and they were very nice! Then we ordered a ploughman's and a beef brisket sandwich meal, mine was the ploughman's and I thought it wasn't anything special and lacking in some ways and too much chicken pate on the plate, I think it was alright but definitely not worth the money at all. And when the meal arrived a lump of cheese on my plate had a hair on it but I'm not one to complain about the small things and just removed that part. My partner had the beef brisket on a brioche bun which was in the middle of this bowl of cheesy sauce stuff and fries, he said it was ok but not that great, the beef was very dry and he wasn't sure how to eat the sandwich since it was semi buried in a bowl of sauce. Both meals looked well presented but both lacking in ways such as flavour and ingredients so because of this we won't be returning for food since the price doesn't reflect the quality of food served.

We were on our way to walk some goats and stopped in here for brunch. I'd heard nothing, seen nothing, but the pics on Google and the menu had me intrigued, and I was very happy to have chosen to come here! The staff were absolutely lovely, and brilliant with the kids. The prices were very reasonable. The seats were comfy and it felt very welcoming and cosy. Then when the food and drink arrived, everything was really tasty and well put together. On the way out we spotted the cakes on offer, so before heading home after the goat walk, we stopped back in and picked up some cakes to come home with. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely be back again!
