The pool is very pleasant and the cocktails taste very good and are absolutely fair in price. In the morning there is a rich breakfast with fresh fruit, sweet and savoury options. Staff were very friendly and helpful, but could only speak Portuguese & some Spanish.

Pipa is a beautiful beach, when we visited over the Xmas holidays it was very clean and looked taken care of. In my opinion, it's best to arrive there early in the day when the water is at low tide. Then you have more time to explore or just sit in the many pools of sea water. In the afternoon the tide returns and pretty soon there is nowhere to sit as the beach floods. There's a variety of places that serve food and drinks, as well as many sellers that set up shop on the beach selling food, drinks and souvenirs. Most of these sellers are cash only so be prepared. The two of us stayed in a private cabin for two nights and was really impressed! Incredible value for a private cabin, bathroom and outside chill area. I can’t speak on the social activities because we didn’t really partake but it felt like a super welcoming and lovely hostel if you were a solo backpacker.

A highlight of Brazil, I extended my stay twice. It really elevated my mood after visiting so many "dead" hostels. The owner is a legend, great parties, super friendly volunteers, hostel dinners and loveable animals. You will make great friends here or it's a place to relax and chill! Much love

I had one of my best times in Brazil at this hostel, to the extent that I ended up staying for two weeks instead of three days. The staff is very friendly, and the daily activities make it easy to meet people and make friends. Every day, Juan offers a delicious vegetarian meal for only 20R$, and Alan makes wonderful cocktails. Unfortunately, there are a few details missing for this hostel to deserve 5 stars, especially in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. Banana Na Lagarto, hands down the best hostel I have had the pleasure of staying in. The hostel is a close knit community with some amazing volunteers that welcome each new guest into their home as one would welcome a family member. The daily activities run by the volunteers are fun and different, the food; both breakfast (free) and dinner (20 of the best Reals you’ll spend in Brazil), are gorgeous and all vegetarian. Oh and the same can be said for the fantastic and extremely cheap drinks at the bar - talk about value for money. The hostel itself is cool and innovative, with volunteers suggesting new ideas frequently on how to enhance a guests stay. My friend and I could easily shoutout all the volunteers on here but special thanks to Julia, Gaia and Ludo!

What to say about this hostel? The vibe there is so amazing, warm and welcoming! Everyone there is super friendly and helpful when you need information or any need. The owner is such a good person. If you are thinking of staying at this place you should definitely give it a try, close to the beach and again the place is amazing. Even the monkeys are friendly and every morning you can give them some fruit for the grams.

Horrible management. Upon arrival our quarters had not been cleaned. We found old food in the refrigerator and underwear in the furniture. One mosquito net over the bed was filthy. Towels and kitchen cloths that were supposedly clean had food and other (unknown) stains. After several requests the staff resolved most issues(it took 24 hours to get another mosquito net and fix our door that didn't lock), but a request to speak to the manager/owner was never acknowledged. I saw him at breakfast and politely asked if he was aware of our problems, and he refused to talk to me, instead telling one of his staff to talk to me and handle it. His staff apologized that he couldn't talk to us because he was a very busy man and had other jobs. However, the owner was present in the property hanging out with his friends, and not once did he try to talk to us. The attitude of management is simply that they don't care if you have a problem or not. If you need internet during your stay do not count on it working here. Very on and off internet signal. More off than on. We stayed in the last villa on the left, and the water pressure was extremely low - barely enough to even take a shower. Bring plenty of bug spray. If you are looking for simple but lovely rooms in a pousada literally ON the beach then this place is perfect. I stayed 4 nights and wished I could have stayed longer. Amazing location. Good food. Nice staff. Honestly one of the best (maybe even *the* best!?) beach hotel I have stayed in…thanks Pia and Manuel and all the team!

Sad to only discover this place on our last day in Pipa otherwise it would have been the exact sort of place I would have loved to stay at. Location is stunning and away from the 'crowds'.
