Mangai is a quality buffet restaurant that offers typical food and beverages at a reasonable price. This specific Mangai restaurant in João Pessoa welcomed my old lady and me as though we were special guests. That was the best treat.

I have eaten here for 20+ years. Although food is still very good unfortunately the service has gone very bad. Orders don't only take a very long time, but orders are also getting forgotten. But as long as the food keeps its standard I'll keep coming.

We had a large family group and everyone was very happy. You choose what you want from over 100 items and pay a flat rate per 100g of food. Drinks are separate but very reasonable. Pomegranate juice was made there and amazing. Get the jar (pitcher) because one glass isn’t enough!

Everyone recommends this place. Really wish the food was a tad better for the price, but I understand because of its buffet nature and the amount of people that there is some dip in quality. It is one of the nicer buffet places in the city. I would recommend to other people, but not enough to bring every visitor to the city here. Service was kind and the atmosphere was happy.

Great fancy place. Might be one of the best in Joao Pessoa. Their menu is vast, but mostly focused on sea food. The dishes are huge, no doubt one dish can serve two people, if you do not eat too much. Prices are high, but as expensive as any other fancy place in town, yet it is less expensive than restaurants in São Paulo and Rio. Service is helpful and friendly. If you have got allergies, they adapt and assist you.

Hugely disappointing! I called ahead to make sure reservation wasn’t necessary and was told it wasn’t. Jumped into a taxi and when we arrived there were no tables left but some reservations. I questioned the Maitre who was indifferent and he said to wait until the reservation dropped at 1pm. We ordered the Camembert which came cold. The chicken then arrived under cooked and during my meal the AC started dripping on me. Everything that could’ve gone wrong did and the Maitre couldn’t care less. No apology, simply turned the AC off and that was it. It’s still dripping as I write this. Had high expectations but very honestly, nothing special in terms of food. The waiter was exceptional however and was very apologetic and even offered a courtesy dessert. Perhaps the Maitre could learn a thing or two from his staff.

Reservations for busy times - or if you are not early! You can eat there for under $R100 each by avoiding expensive drinks, appetizers and desserts.

We stumbled upon this beach bar/restaurant recently and decided to give it a try. I’m glad we did. The restaurant is attractive for a beach bar; the service was very good and the food was delicious. We had the grilled lobster and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The tropical drinks were also great (we had 2 types of caipirinhas). The beach right in front of the restaurant is not very good, but the views are still very nice (lots of coconut palms swaying in the breeze and a nice view of the high-rise buildings of the capital dotting the shoreline in the distance like little sugar cubes. They also have an ample private parking lot (free) and there’s also on-street parking available. If only the beach in front of the restaurant was better, this would be a 5-star review. The service was good, but I've had better at cheaper restaurants. I don't think it should be #2 of all of the restaurants in JP after our experience. This was my second visit to this very busy seafood restaurant and it was an utter disappointment. Their menu remains small, but this time, all of the food was completely flavorless—nothing was seasoned at all. I started with the crab stew, and it tasted like coconut milk and nothing else. The main course fish was also flavorless and a bit overcooked. It’s still very loud, but the service is still pretty quick and inexpensive. Despite this, I won’t be coming back here for a while—it’s just not a place for someone who likes good food.

Wonderful and creative salad creations. Mostly outside seating. New air conditioned seating option is ready. They finally added the optional tips for their staff. We like #7, shrimp and honey mustard dressing. Yum. Selection of juices and smoothies too.

Good food, nice location, fair price. Probably the best value for a good lunch in a place you can sit gazing over the ocean. Grilled meats are very good. Not air conditioned, so beware if it is hot. Parking in the rear with a valet to help during busy times. Be sure to use Sem balança if you are hungry.

I wanted to come here because I ate at their restaurant located in Recife Airport and it was fabulous. Unfortunately, this one was not as good. Laça Burguer is a small fast-food restaurant chain in the northeast of Brazil. This one is located inside the MAG Shopping mall. Their menu offers many different types of burgers and you can choose from three types of bread for your bun (at least what it says on the menu). This particular location does not offer that, nor do they have the wonderful French fries that I ate at their other location (they have some mediocre frozen fries). This location also does not offer the entire burger menu—but only a few different burgers. Is their food better than Burger King? Sure, but that’s not hard to do. If they had the same menu offerings that their other location has, I would say that it was worth going out of your way to dine here. I have been to Brazilian steakhouse is but never to a restaurant that continually Sergio all different types of food when it comes to being Italian. I give it a solid five stars for the atmosphere family oriented and sitting on the beach front.

Another GREAT place to eat in Joao Pessoa! This pizzeria is owned by the same family that runs Famiglia Muccini (the best Italian restaurant in Joao Pessoa!). The location can’t be beat: right on the beach in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city, near many hotels and B&B’s. They use incredibly fresh ingredients and the pizzas are delicious. It’s casual, but “upscale” at the same time. You feel really relaxed here. They have a very good wine list (at reasonable prices). The service is excellent. Plus, you can see the ocean while having a great meal.

I regret not having visited this restaurant sooner. This location used to be the Sal e Brasa Churrascaria, but they closed some time ago. Boi & Brasa is another restaurant chain (they have 8 locations in total) of churrascaria-type restaurants in Brazil and they’ve taken over this space. I ate lunch here last week and the service was very good. They serve a variety of meats prepared in different ways. In Brazilian churrascaria style, it’s all you can eat. The best meat was the beef shoulder, but the barbecue racks of pork ribs and wild boar shouldn’t be missed. They have a very nice buffet as well, including some nicely presented sushi (it is included in the price of the lunch, so eat as much or as little as you like). The restaurant has a decent wine menu at reasonable prices as well as a full bar.

I have eaten here for over 10 years but no more. Not one peace of the meat served was good. All dryck and boring, no matter what pieces of meat.

My husband and I with some of our friends. We had a wonderful experience in that restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is very professional..a very pleasant atmosphere. I just want to be able to quickly fly over to Brazil just to endulge myself with a meal in that place. We plan to be back.

This steakhouse has been open for only about 5 months. The restaurant is located in a lovely building in the neighborhood of Altiplano in João Pessoa. They have floor-to-ceiling windows and a large open dining area. In my opinion, their menu is quite limited, but if you don’t visit often, there are enough choices, including several vegan dishes (more than I’ve seen at most steakhouses). We tried their onion rings for an appetizer and they were just OK. They offer several steaks for two as a main course option. They come with the choice of 2 side dishes. We selected the prime rib, rare. It was cooked to our chosen doneness; it was tender (although I’ve had better), but I would’ve liked if it were cut thicker. They have cheesecake on the menu, but it wasn’t available when we dined, so we just finished with a Licor 43 and an espresso. Our waiter Alisson (a male name in Brazil) was a very good server. He told us that on Saturdays they have feijoada and all-you-can-drink Volupia cachaça too (for me, that makes it worth it all by itself). Overall, it was a very good (not great) dining experience & I might give it another try soon.

We came here for lunch this weekend and I’m so sorry I hadn’t dined here sooner! The food, service and ambience were all great. “Estaleiro” means “shipyard” in Portuguese and being a seafood restaurant, it seems appropriate. Many of the dishes are named for parts of a ship (kinda cute). They have a decent wine list at incredible prices (they have a full bar). We ordered a grilled seafood platter that came with 3 lobster tails, squid, octopus, shrimp and fish. It was served with 2 side dishes (rice and mashed potatoes). The seafood was all prepared to perfection and there was more than enough food for 3 people. The restaurant is located near the Ponta do Seixas, the easternmost point of the American continents which is a great reason to visit the area. I highly recommend this restaurant and I look forward to coming back again.
