Specialty Museums
Museu Oscar Niemeyer, also known as the "Eyes Museum," is a futuristic architectural marvel designed by renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Ribeiro de Almeida Niemeyer Soares Filho. Opened in 2002, it is the largest museum in Latin America and features 12 rooms showcasing contemporary art, design, and architecture. The building itself resembles a giant eye and is perched on a massive yellow pillar, creating an awe-inspiring sight for visitors.
Amazing museum dedicated to one of the most famous architects you will ever come across in Brazil. The museum is very well done and has sufficient reading material as well as displays. Some of the art is interactive and some of it is historical artifacts. There is a lot of modern art and some art from people from Curitiba. The parts of the museum that showcase Niemeyer’s accomplishments are particularly cool, especially if you’ve traveled around and seen some of his works.
Miguel S — Google review
It’s a nice museum and a real Curitiba’s postcard, however the exhibition wasn’t good, I was expecting more for the most famous museum in town. I’m glad I didn’t pay. Usually on Wednesday the entry is free 10am-6pm
Babi L — Google review
Amazing building. African and Asian exhibitions were well curated and very engaging. Loved that museum goers were invited to create their own art out of materials similar to those used in the exhibition. Museum store needs some work.
Beth M — Google review
I expected more from the museum. The sculptures are ok, the space is very pretty and overall it's ok. The only thing I didn't like was the internal security team. Some of them are a bit rude when dealing with customers. Attention.
Fernando R — Google review
Free on Sunday so busier, of course. Went in to the museum with few expectations but came away impressed. Some very good exhibitions.
Rob — Google review
This famous museum is on every city tour. The architecture of the museum building is impressive, especially the adjacent building known as The Eye, which is quite stunning. There are wide open picnic spaces and grounds for walking and hanging out with friends. There are admission fees to enter the buildings to see the exhibits.
Albert L — Google review
A must see when visiting Curitiba! Great museum with a good cafe as well.
Billyzol — Google review
Clean, organized, well air-conditioned. Stunning view! Could be better: the „Free WiFi“ needs a registration which is only in Portuguese to get the English texts inside of the museum.

Botanical garden
Park
The Botanical Garden of Curitiba, established in 1991, is a stunning urban oasis that beautifully blends nature and design. Spanning an impressive 245,000 square meters, this garden features meticulously manicured French-style gardens leading to a striking glasshouse reminiscent of London's Crystal Palace. Inside the greenhouse, visitors can marvel at unique specimens from the Atlantic Forest flora.
I visited the garden on a rainy day, but the beauty of the botanical garden is unique. It was really nice to visit, and you don't have to pay to enter the park and the greenhouse. The outside is very beautiful, with the symmetry of the trimmed trees and the flowers all open and colorful, everything is very pretty. Inside the greenhouse, the stairs are easy to climb, but be careful, they can be slippery. Behind the greenhouse there is another garden, with different flowers, separated by season, and also a café at the end of the path. The park is very big, I didn't walk through it all, but I intend to go back and get to know it better.
Emelli R — Google review
A beautiful botanical garden with a huge array of different flowers, trees and animals. Staff at entrance were very friendly and had a free map of the city in English. The sensation garden cannot be missed, the staff there are very knowledgeable and described the like cycle of the Candelabra tree (the critically endangered tree of the state of Parana) in perfect English. Butterfly paradise with extensive variety, with huge numbers and even a hummingbird for the eagle eyed. A large number of species of birds, lots of fish sunbathing in the lake alongside turtles. The species of flowers in the greenhouse were so varied I may have missed a few, with notable mentions being banana palm flower and pineapple flowers. Lot's of Golden orb spiders in the trees in the sensation garden, be sure to look up especially if you are tall! Lot's more to explore with water fountains and solar arrays. Toilet facilities are free and immaculate. The cafe at the end of the semicircular shaded flower section with the statues is a must visit. I had the best cheesecake with red berries I've ever had, along with Pão com queijo, affogato (ice cream with expresso shot), and to go: the chocolate & nut cake, and a chocolate & cherry torte. All of which were very good value for money and incredibly tasty, staff friendly, approachable and spoke English (and allowed some practice Portuguese). Entrance is free!

The Botanical Garden of Curitiba is absolutely stunning! From the iconic glass greenhouse to the vibrant flowers and peaceful walking trails, every corner feels magical. It’s a must-visit spot to relax, connect with nature, and capture amazing photos..

Very green area located in Karachi with a lot of kind of flowers different kind of trees. They have two lakes and they have museum for the botanic gardens. They have very nice restaurant agent. Café located inside the park.

Park
Parque Barigui, also known as Barigui Park, is a popular urban park in Curitiba, Brazil. Covering 1.4 million square meters, it offers a variety of activities for visitors. The park features sports courts, lakeside trails for hiking and biking, a skating rink, and BBQ grills. It was originally the land of pioneer Mateus Martins Leme before being transformed into a park in 1972.
The place is quite spacious, so it's best to arrive early to fully explore the entire garden. It's a popular and beautiful spot in Curitiba, with numerous picturesque locations throughout. Capybaras are abundant and incredibly cute, adding to the charm of the experience. The sunset view is absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to return. If you're considering it, don’t hesitate—it's definitely worth the visit!
Ayoub D — Google review
My favorite park. I didn't know I liked capybaras until I saw so many here! They're very cute. Also relaxing swans, hawks, vultures, and other birds who aren't so scared of humans so they let you come real close to take photos (but not too close!). So calm
Maddi P — Google review
Very beautiful and calm park, plenty of benches to sit on, places to have a picnic. The river is very calm and relatively clean. The sunset in this park is beautiful. There are different species of animals in this park, it is worth the walk in this park.
Emelli R — Google review
Amazing Beautiful Park, lots of paved walkways for the elderly, designated bike and run paths, and workout equipment. Last but not least the real reason why anyone goes here, is to see Curitiba's mascot, the world famous Capivaras that tend to be everywhere around the lake and grassy areas. You have to pay $2 bucks for the bathroom, which is kind of crazy since it a city park, but thats what is, bathroom are far apart, so beware with your water intake.
Alex L — Google review
Great park, with plenty green areas, and free fresh air. Remember to not touch the capibaras and give them space, is their habitat :)
Daniela G — Google review
Beautiful well kept and safe to walk around, great wildlife (birds, capybara, turtles)
K S — Google review
Great place to have a picnic, to see the sunset, to visit the capibaras, to run, go for a bike ride, do some exercise and have fun.

If capebberas is what you seek this is the park. Spacious green, clean, well cared for and clearly attractive to many Curitibians. Delicious lunch at the park restaurant. If I visit Curitiba again I'm coming here.

Lovely clean market full of fresh produce, specialty food, and well stocked liquor stores. All the shop keepers were pleasant and helpful. There is a food court on the second level and coffee shops and bars around the periphery.

A very nice farmers market that sells many good items. They had a huge variety of vegetables and fruits. I found many of the exotic fruits I was wanting to try in Brazil at this market.

An absolute treasure of things to buy. We love the place so much. We can actually say this is one of the best public markets in the wide world, and I have been to a few. It's organised, rich, colourful and has lots of good food. We will come back one day. Glauco and Isabelle, United Kingdom.

Incredible theater! I'm always impressed with the size of it. The downside is they do not allow food inside and there are few restrooms, which are always busy. Of course it would benefit from a good refurbishment, but the structure is great!

Went for the 2023 dance opening. There was a too long presentation of a book about the theatre history. The play about mestizaje was made with a white men view, a happy story that wasn't at all on real life. Great place filled with history.

Nestled in the heart of Curitiba, Bosque Papa João Paulo II is a serene park that beautifully intertwines nature and cultural heritage. Established in 1980 to commemorate Pope John Paul II's visit, this lush green space serves as a tribute to the Polish immigrants who have enriched the city. Visitors can explore charming pathways lined with trees and enjoy a peaceful atmosphere while reflecting on history.
Very cool park. Very quiet place with walking trails within the park. Great place to take pictures.
Billyzol — Google review
Everything very nice and cozy, nice to remember and promote the polish immigrants in Curitiba, however it’s not nice not allowing to take pictures inside of the houses, it doesn’t help to promote the place for people who’s never been there. They should review this policy ASAP.
Pvgomes — Google review
What a nice park to relax and walk around to think about life. A place where you can find a little peace for yourself and admire the nature and the divine beauty.
Cesar H — Google review
We loved the quiet and beautiful path around this place where the pope visited. A great spot to spend some time thinking.
Jon — Google review
I really enjoy being in this park. It's so peaceful and quiet. The ideal spot in Curitiba to chill, be in contact with nature and also absorb some culture. The Polish inspired houses look quite cute and contain some historical objects, it's interesting to get to know more about one of these cultures that influence the state of Paraná. In this park you'll be able to see many Araucária trees (the typical tree from the state). Very well maintained, it has bathrooms, a church, a tiny museum, nice walking places, a gift store and a playground for children. Pet friendly.
Stephanie F — Google review
Beautiful park with so much green. For those who are catholic or not is a good spot to know, it has some houses with Polish architecture. Has some little trails that lead to Niemeyer eye art.

Right next to Museu Oscar Niemeyer, the park is relatively small and worth a visit if you are into learning a bit about the Polish culture and their settlement in Paraná.

Embark on a scenic journey aboard the Serra Verde Express, a traditional steam-engine train that takes you through the lush greenery surrounding Curitiba. The tracks wind through the Serra do Mar mountain range, offering picturesque views of Pico do Marumbi, the highest natural point in Parana state. Opt for a luxury carriage for an exceptional experience with an open bar and excellent service. While breakfast is provided, bringing extra snacks is recommended as no other meals are served on board.
We flew in just to do this experience and it was certainly worth it. Having a 28 car train take you through the incredible mountains is something I will never forget. The views were incredible and the journey was so much fun. We upgraded and had a lovely snack box, free drinks and we got lucky with an English speaking guide for the journey. We had the balcony which I’d highly recommend! The tour after was very well organised, we had a lovely lunch and a great walk around the town. We loved stopping off at all the different sites and the van journey back (although was a bit bumpy due to cobbled roads) was good.
Luke — Google review
What a lovely trip we had. The views were amazing and the train can offer you different styles of deco that enhances your experience. The air con was a bit too high so we advise you to take a light cover for the ladies, even in the summer. We recommend the trip for anyone who want to see the Atlantic primal forest and dramatic scenery whilst sipping a lovely glass of "champagne". We bought our tickets online in London, a challenge, but doable. :0)
Glauco H — Google review
The train ride is very scenic and enjoyable but, obviously perhaps, scenes flash by and what’s worth seeing goes past very quickly. Unless you want to leap across the aisle, you definitely need to be on the left hand side Once on board we were given a lovely welcome drink and 30 minutes later a horrible sandwich I have rated this trip low for several reasons 1. The website is difficult to use and understand, especially if you’re over 59 2. The copacabana and foz wagons are lovely, but the Curitiba one, which is classed as luxury and the same price as the other 2, is not. The left hand seats are seriously uncomfortable and the decor … well there isn’t any 3. The guide, whilst helpful and pleasant talked non stop for about 70% of the journey 4. When buying tickets you are allocated seats but this does not mean anything since seat numbers are determined by the number which corresponds to the number on a leaflet (map) so they’re moveable !!!! This means you actually can’t tell if you’ll be sitting on the left or right side !!!! Altogether, it’s unprofessional, unpredictable and unreliable 5. Finally, the bus back to Curitiba costs about £4 so it’s really not worth buying a tour package other than it makes buying a ticket easier I assume
Michelle K — Google review
Definitely worth it, if you can secure a seat on the left hand side the views are better. We went in the luxury carriage and it was amazing. Open bar, excellent service and the staff spoke both Portuguese and English. I would say that the breakfast could be better. And if you’re particularly hungry, I would also recommend bringing along some extra snacks for the ride. They don’t serve food apart from a very light breakfast. Included in the price of a luxury ticket is the open bar. Which is soft drinks, juice, water, coffee, tea and beer. An incredible journey, with unforgettable views of the forest and mountains. I highly recommend not missing out on this experience.
Christopher S — Google review
One of the best train rides in the world ! Staggering views, Brazilians and their endless joy , and some drinks
Mike H — Google review
Great experience during the train ride; we were served breakfast and beverages non-stop during the 4 hours drive. The package included lunch and it was incredible. Staff assisted us during the whole trip and they were the best.
Bob A — Google review
Sadly, it was very rainy, cold and foggy!! I paid for the luxury wagon around R480 and it was not worth it at all. Lunch was included, but it was just a tiny sandwich and some peanuts. I know it’s not the company‘s fault that the weather is bad, but it would be great if they could give us some money back when this type of thing happens as we were not able to see anything at all.
K R — Google review
Nice ride BUT why is the TOURIST Class only in portuguese language?! That makes no sense, at least an audio guide would be helpful otherwise it’s just a nearly regular train ride and you understand nothing…

Passeio Público, established in 1886, is the oldest public park in Curitiba, spanning 17 acres. Originally designed as a botanical and zoological garden, it has evolved into a popular leisure spot with hiking and biking trails, a picturesque lake offering pedal boat rides, and charming bridges. While no longer an official city zoo, the park still houses various Brazilian primates and birds.
Curitiba has the most amazing parks waiting for tourists to explore. I was impressed yesterday at the garden and this park also impressed me. Great job city of Curitiba. Free washrooms, playground for kids, beautiful birds, food, musical screen with ample of seats, beautiful water fountains and bridges. Can sit and relax on the ground and much more.

I was impressed that there was no entrance fee and there was so much to see. The different species of birds were a treat. Fountains, ponds and multiple places to sit and enjoy. There were many police around and you felt safe even though many homeless people laying around. Curitiba overall has a problem with homeless. I recommend checking out this park

Best maintained park I've ever seen! Nice trees, flowers and grass areas, water ponds and fountains. Animal cages look standard size, but more clean than any zoo. Lovely park, just missing a nice café.

Amazing park with a wide variety of birds (caged) inside. This is the first time I’ve seen a toucan, also the first time to see those huge and magnificent parrots. I’d advocate for a bigger living space for them though… It is pretty sad to see birds that should fly all locked up…

On Saturdays, from 6:00 til mid-day, there is the organic farmers market. I really enjoy buying pesticide-free food here. Prices are excellent and the taste of whatever you get, is amazing!

Well-kept park in the downtown area of Curitiba, with a small lake and walking trails. Definitely worth a visit on a sunny day. There's also some wild birds which are kept in far too small cages imo

Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in the charming neighborhood of Alto Boqueirão, the Zoológico Municipal de Curitiba is a delightful destination for families seeking an engaging day out. Opened in 1985, this compact yet vibrant zoo is home to around 1,800 animals representing 127 different species, including majestic lions, playful hippos, and graceful giraffes. Visitors can also enjoy the sight of colorful birds like peacocks and parakeets as they stroll through lush green surroundings.
Very nice zoo good for families and kids located near the airport it is a free entrance at have a lot of kind of birds animal wild animals. Unfortunately, there is no lion and graph and pair and gorilla. There is no restaurant only outside. You have to take your stuff with you there is a water everywhere. The bad things there is no mobile coverage inside the park and the Wi-Fi is so poor. The important things you have to drink from the sugarcane shop outside you have to order sugarcane with lemon amazing
OMER H — Google review
Free entrance. The animals are beautiful and well-treated. The location feels safe and near nature. Downside is the place is being renovated, some sectors are currently closed or inaccessible. Be ready for a hike, take a few bottles of water
Rafael T — Google review
This place is for free. The parking too. Has a lot of animals and is not just good to see the animals, but also to take a walk. Some animals are free and some are in cages. Although almost all the animals are rescue animals. Which means they are there because they have been abused or were in a circus. Love this idea.
Patrick S — Google review
It was a great family trip. The zoo has a decent number of animals, and flora all for free. Signs could be improved though. We almost missed the lion and brown bear. Also, there was a guy informally "looking after" the cars on the parking lot in exchange for a few bucks. You may feel compelled to pay for his "service". Not mandatory though.

Very nice learning experience. Besides of the amazing animals there is a place to learn about their projects and initiaves they have to preserve wildlife. The only thing very annoying is children yelling at animals or making loud noises. Not only children sometimes. A must see place while you are in Curitiba if you love animals! Note: On Mondays is closed.

Museu Paranaense, located in Curitiba, southern Brazil, is a two-building museum that delves into the heritage of Paraná. The museum houses a vast collection of around 400,000 objects, maps, and documents related to the history of Paraná. One building showcases archaeological and natural history exhibits while the other features a photographic collection of indigenous peoples.
I went there in a weekday, so it wasn't so crowded. The space is beautiful inside and outside. I recommend visitors to take some time to walk in the gardens that surround the building, it is very relaxing and there are benches to sit. Inside you'll have a a glimpse at Paraná's history: my highlight is a diorama of Curitiba in 1876, that will give you a notion of how much the city has grown. There is a place to lock your bike, in case you cycle there. However, I couldn't check if there was parking at the place – I assume not. You can park in the street or in the private parking lots that surround the place, but they are open-air spaces.
Gustavo T — Google review
The variety of exhibits was engaging. Every thing from antiquities to current multicultural context setting. Loved that the museum invited museum visitors to create and archive their own pieces. Not so large that it was fatiguing. Appreciated the English narrative and the museum might want to seek editing help from a native speaker.

For those who loves history this place is a must! I really love to know the history behind the places who I visit, and get to know about Curitiba and whole Paraná state was amazing!!! I deeply recommend this place!

I found this museum to be unfocused. In the original building, the first displays upstairs are about indigenous people in Mato Grosso. There is also some natural history. The new building has a mix of videos, historical items, modern art, and more indigenous items from Mato Grosso. I was expecting to learn more about Parana here but I really didn't.

This museum was bigger than I expected. Learnt so much history about my country, so much beautiful native things and so much more. Will definitely visit again.

Excellent exhibitions, including a large collection focusing on the indigenous peoples of Brazil (all items with English descriptions ❤️). If you're looking to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Brazilian indigenous culture, a visit to MAI - Museu de Arte Indígena is a must. Opened in November 2016, this private museum showcases an impressive collection of over 1,500 artifacts created by various indigenous groups across Brazil. From intricate musical instruments and beautifully crafted ceramics to ceremonial masks and feather adornments, each piece tells a story that keeps the traditions alive.
Tickets to get in are 10-20 reais. They have a half off student option. This is a privately owned museum, and a very nice and well-curated one with extensive collections of indigenous tools, dress, and artifacts. Not sure that anything is very old but it seems like the curator or owner has bought a lot of items from groups. The curation of this museum was done VERY well and there are extensive explanations everywhere and for every object in the museum. For that reason it was my favorite museum in Curitiba. You can really learn something about Brazilian indigenous groups and the objects that they use.

I visited the museum a few months ago. The exhibits were great (although u couldn't interact with), and generally the experience was ok, until the personnel offered me some indigenous honey or something to try, and I asked them for a spoon (how reasonable)... they started making fan of me in portuguese (as they thought I couldn't understand), saying things like "oh this European pretends to be a king and blah blah blah". CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE!!! If I ask for a spoon, you must find a spoon. However, it worth a visit for sure (just bring your own spoon), and if you choose a guide, make sure to choose Leonardo. He has been the best tour guide (full knowledge, perfect English), in the whole country!!

Great place to hangout on a hot summer day, water didn't seem to be dirty at the adult pools, but the kids area was not so clean. The day I went wasn't necessarily crowded, I've heard it can get pretty packed. I give it 3 stars just because of the food options, it's very limited to very unhealthy options.

(Translated by Google) It's not the prettiest, but it's the most moving. Its simplicity is touching and welcoming. It's not the most impressive, but it's the cutest. It looks like a scene from a 6pm soap opera. I went on foot. It was a place of interest on my one-day itinerary in downtown Curitiba. It started at Rua das Flores, a very peaceful walk, practically everything is flat. In the surrounding area, you can see several other places, and at night, the pedestrian movement increases, due to the shops and bars around Praça Garibaldi. It's worth a visit. Afterwards, take a stroll around the Ruins of São Francisco and the Paraná Museum. Set aside about 3 hours to wander around here. If you go in the morning, you can visit the nearby Mosque. It's all free. And take an umbrella, because it will rain at some point. Tudo gratuito. Museu de Arte Sacra de Curitiba - MASAC is a small, but important museum that covers the religious art of Curitiba. It is undergoing renovations at the moment, but should be one of the main tourist destinations to visit in the city in the near future.

(Translated by Google) A really cool museum for those who like art and history. Not only for Catholics, but for the entire society that is interested in art and history from Brazil and the world. Admission is free, at least when I was there in June 2025.

(Translated by Google) Largo da Ordem is a place where a lot happens in Curitiba. On Sundays, the famous and long-running arts and crafts fair takes place. But right at its beginning, as part of the beautiful white church dedicated to Saint Francis of the Wounds, we have this rich and wonderful museum that you can't miss. Its collection is varied, featuring images, devotional objects, and clerical vestments. If you're passing by, be sure to visit!

(Translated by Google) The museum houses sculptures, liturgical vestments, religious objects, old books and sacred images that represent the history of the Catholic faith in Paraná. The pieces reveal the artistic and devotional value of sacred art, with emphasis on works from the colonial period. The space is quiet, clean and organized, ideal for those seeking a moment of reflection and appreciation of art at a more leisurely pace.

(Translated by Google) Visiting the Curitiba Museum of Sacred Art is a unique experience that transcends the simple act of observing works. It's a immersion in centuries of history, spirituality, and beauty, in a space that preserves the memory of the faith and religious traditions that shaped the city. Upon entering, the atmosphere of silence and contemplation invites you to slow down, to make room for attentive observation and feeling. The collection is vast and impressive in its diversity: sacred images, paintings, furniture, and liturgical pieces that reveal not only the artistic care but also the devotion of those who created them. One of the highlights that most impressed me was the bell, a silent witness to time, carrying with it the sound of history. The various statues of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, each with its own narrative, convey not only the strength of popular religiosity but also the beauty of art that engages with the sacred. What makes the visit even more special is the sense of connection with the divine. Just as in Adélia Prado's poems, I felt there a meeting between spirituality and everyday life, between transcendence and simplicity. It's as if each piece, each space in the museum, were an invitation to contemplation and an encounter with the mystery of life. I recommend a visit not only to art lovers but also to those seeking moments of beauty, silence, and inner peace. A true gem in Curitiba.

(Translated by Google) We left Rio de Janeiro and took the opportunity to visit MASAC in Curitiba, a famous museum, and it was well worth it. The space is beautiful, with a well-preserved collection. The visit was enriching and we were surprised by the organization and care taken. I recommend going on Sunday, because in addition to the museum, you can enjoy the nearby fair and try the capybara-shaped pastel, which is an attraction in itself! It was a complete cultural and leisure experience that we certainly recommend to anyone in Curitiba.
