Kualao Restaurant

Laotian restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
Restaurant
Kualao Restaurant is a popular and upscale dining spot in Vientiane, offering authentic Lao cuisine in a charming setting. The restaurant is known for its courteous staff and traditional Lao dishes such as papaya salad, handmade Lao sausage, deep-fried Mekong fish, and spring rolls. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Lao dance and music performances while dining.
This restaurant is one of the most popular spots in Vientiane and the perfect place to try authentic south asia cuisine. It’s set in a beautifully converted traditional Lao wooden house, and the charming decor makes you feel right at home while giving you a taste of the local culture. Because it’s such a popular place, I’d definitely recommend making a reservation before you go. When you arrive, you’ll notice a vintage car right at the entrance it’s a great spot for snapping a few memorable photos.Parking is super convenient, with a spacious area right in front of the restaurant. If you prefer, they even offer valet service, which is a nice touch. The evening we went, there was live music playing, and it really added to the cozy, relaxing vibe. We enjoyed listening to traditional Lao songs while having our meal. I tried the river fish, and it was absolutely delicious juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Also I like the soup too much. Seafood soup was great. If you’re visiting Vientiane, this place should be on your must-visit list. Great food, a unique atmosphere, and helpful staff it’s an experience you’ll remember.
AHMET T — Google review
Kualao is a renowned Lao cuisine restaurant, a favorite dining spot of several Japanese prime ministers. It offers an authentic taste of Lao tradition, served in a charming colonial French villa, accompanied by traditional dance performances. The menu features many enticing Lao specialties, including Laap (Lao national dish – minced meat with herbs, vegetables, and sticky rice, available in various types), Tam Mak Hoong (papaya salad), Sai Oua (sour Lao sausage), Khao Niew (sticky rice), Ping Kai (grilled chicken), crispy seaweed, and silkworms. There’s a Lao saying: “Nang hai bang thi, ni hai bang bon”, meaning “mind your manners when eating and seating.” So, be sure to book a table near the stage for the best view of the performances or arrive before 6:00 PM (performance starts at 7pm) as stage-side tables usually fill up by then—especially on weekends. One more note: please close doors gently—this beautiful building is over 100 years old (as kindly posted on signs).
Phu D — Google review
It's worth trying this popular Laotian restaurant that specialises in authentic traditional Laos dishes. Usually busy during dinner service so advance reservations recommended. There are live traditional Laos music and dance performances every day at 7 pm, so it is best to arrive for this live entertainment. Dishes were tasty with some interesting options that we did not see at other restaurants. Very lively atmosphere and gets very loud inside when full house. Kitchen service was efficient and food came out quickly. Dessert was also done well and great way to finish the meal. Prices are expensive compared to other similar restaurants
Albert L — Google review
The restaurant has 30 years of experience and specializes in Lao cuisine. My favorite dish is Duck Larb, which is served with fresh vegetables. Almost all the dishes here are rich in flavors, combining sour, spicy, sweet, bitter, and tangy tastes. The accompanying vegetables help balance the flavors of the dishes. The restaurant attracts many foreign customers, and the staff is very friendly.
Nhu M — Google review
The service was good overall, and the food tasted great. Unfortunately, I found a hair on my vegetables, which really affected the experience. What was disappointing is that there was no apology from the manager or any offer to make up for the mistake—not even a small discount. I expected better handling of the situation given the circumstances.
Jr M — Google review
Kualao is a must-visit for authentic Lao cuisine in Vientiane. The duck larb was bursting with herbs and flavor, perfectly paired with brown sticky rice, such a fun and unique way to enjoy the meal. Beautiful setting, great service, and a true cultural experience.
Niskie F — Google review
Let me tell you about my recent dinner at Kualao Restaurant in Vientiane. Now, I wouldn't normally go for fancy places, but this one was a real treat. It's a bit on the upscale side, but the atmosphere was fantastic. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has this whole traditional Lao vibe, and they even had dancers and musicians performing throughout the night. It wasn't over the top or cheesy, but it added this wonderful cultural touch to the whole experience. Now, the most important part: the food! Let me tell you, it was incredible. They focus on Lao cuisine, and everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. I tried this set menu they have with a bunch of small dishes, and it was the perfect way to sample a bunch of different things. There was this one beef salad with lemongrass that completely blew me away. Honestly, the whole night was fantastic. The food was amazing, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was just unbeatable. If you're looking for a special night out in Vientiane, I can't recommend Kualao Restaurant highly enough. Just be prepared for the bill to be a bit steeper than your average restaurant. But hey, sometimes you gotta treat yourself, right?
Thanh L — Google review
This was the most expensive restaurant I went to in Vientiane. My lunch bill was around 600,000+ kip. The restaurant is in a large French colonial home with very interesting architectural look to it. Interior is kept to its original colonial roots with an impressive wooden stairs, high ceiling and tile floors. I had: Duck Larb - that was pretty good. Flavorful and interesting as a dish. Luang Prabang sausage. I tasted great, specially with the chili sauce. River weed - it has the texture of a seaweed snack, but it is made from some leafy vegetable. The taste is subtle. Good to add some crunch to your dishes. Tumeric latte - that was decent. I can’t really pick out the tumeric from the flavor. Rosella tea - that had a stronger, sweeter punch. It was very refreshing. Lemon tea - that was a familiar tastebas south asian. Great for the hot day’s walk outside. I heard of the cultural performance at night, but I was not able to experience that. They do charge that 10% service fee on top of the 10% vat.

Laotian restaurant
Khop Chai Deu, known as "The Place Where the World Meets," is a renowned establishment in Vientiane that has been serving a diverse range of dishes since 1998. This popular spot offers a fusion of Lao, Asian, and Western cuisine, catering to various culinary preferences. Whether you're in the mood for traditional Lao stew, a classic cheeseburger, or flavorful pasta, Khop Chai Deu has something for everyone.
The indoor dining area is very pleasant. The Lao platter, which served a variety of Lao dishes, was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the fried river weed and the stew, which had a rich, natural flavor. The sausage was juicy and flavorful. The cocktails were also very tasty and well-presented. I highly recommend dining or drinking here. In particular, I suggest taking advantage of this opportunity to try a variety of traditional Lao foods!
B — Google review
This is a good upscale place that serves local dishes but gives touristic vibes just around the corner of Vientiane downtown. The outdoor vibe is good and open, while the indoor ones provide comfortable seating but actually gives a pub-like vibe. The foods really taste good especially the local dishes although the spring rolls were more to the Vietnamese side than Laos style. I’m giving 4 star on the foods in terms of portions. The price are a little not par with the portions. Expect to get a portion for single portion if you intend to share. The staff and service are pretty good as expected of Laoatians. They spoke well in English and actually went out of their way to provide what we wanted and how we wanted our foods and drinks. Reasonable waiting time and not much variety of food options on the menu but enough.
Jenny W — Google review
A very good place to have beers and drinks and to have good food. Their Mango Sticky rice was so so, in Prawns fried rice were just prawns placed upon normal rice., someone mentioned same for their Prawns Pad Thai too. Rest everything was amazing. Place had Live music and was great to have dinner while your stay at Vientiane.
Singh G — Google review
This is an amazing place to go especially for Dinner. All the food taste great and authentic. We ordered the fried fish, fried chicken wings, papaya salad, Lao sausage, chicken satay and a vegetable dish. We went on a Thursday night and there is a live jazz band. The singer, pianist, cellist, guitarist and saxophonist are awesome.
Ian B — Google review
The evening ambience of the place was excellent, nice setups with soft music. Their food was however a huge let down. 6 of us ordered 9 dishes - only the pork rib was good. Kitchen team needs to improve!!!
Durian — Google review
Hotel recommended this restaurant 1min walk away. Upon seeing the menu I already suspected that I won’t get authentic Laotian food - the menu tried to cover everything from Indian to Thai to Chinese to western. The clientele look and sound foreign too. Food ended up tasting much better than expected. The only issue tho, is that the shrimps in pad Thai tastes rather off They accept credit card

Chill Hangout Spot in Vientiane If you’re looking for a relaxed vibe in Vientiane, this place is a gem. Cozy seating, good music, and friendly locals make it a great spot to unwind. The drinks are refreshing, the food hits the spot, and the atmosphere is just what you need after a day of exploring. Definitely one of my favorite places to chill in the city.

Ambience was good, not too loud and service was good. Food was alright as well with the beef noodles being our favourite.

Pimenton Restaurant Vientiane

Mentioned on

Steak house
Tapas restaurant
Pimenton Restaurant in Vientiane is a popular spot for Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of Hispanic flair. The restaurant offers a wide range of delicious dishes, including marinated grilled steaks, tapas, and fish-based specialties. Despite being on the pricier side, Pimenton is well-loved by both locals and tourists for its high-quality food. With an emphasis on local and organic sourcing, this stylish Spanish restaurant redefines the modern steakhouse experience in Laos.
Pimenton is my go-to spot for Mediterranean cuisine! The meats are perfectly cooked—not overdone—and the roasted veggies are bursting with flavor. If red meat isn’t your thing, their grilled chicken is incredibly juicy. The pasta is delightful, but the real standout is the corn soup—a must-try! Don’t miss the ciabatta with garlic sauce; it’s pure heaven. The staff are exceptionally friendly, making the dining experience even better. While it’s on the pricier side, every bite is absolutely worth it!
Kitsada S — Google review
The picanha from here was highly recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, the steak was a major disappointment While the steak was grilled properly - nice and juicy with a smoked fat cap - the poor quality beef was so chewy that I could barely make it through. It took me an hour to fight through this steak and finish it. Only because I felt bad for spending that much money on it. On the plus side, the caesar salad was good, and well priced compared to the quality and amount that you would get in other places, such as Bangkok.
Toan D — Google review
Highly recommend this restaurant located in central Vientiane. Menu boasts a Western- Spanish cuisine with tapas, paella, steaks and classic bar food. Excellent set lunch menu which is a must try. The set lunch menu has a refreshing garden salad followed by a mains then dessert. We tried the seafood paella which came out surprisingly quickly but was very tasty and satisfying. Highly recommend the grilled chicken, the chicken was so succulent and juicy packed with amazing flavours. The prawn fettuccine was also creamy and fulfilling. Portions were large and satisfied hungry appetites. I came back on a Sunday to try their a la carte menu but unfortunately they were closed on Sunday. Great bar area and inviting ambience. Staff were friendly but spoke limited English. Service lost a star because staff were elusive and purposely avoiding us due to language barrier when we requested assistance.
Albert L — Google review
Great food! Meat not overdone, roasted veggies nice and flavourful. We also LOVED chiabatta with the garlic sauce. Only one thing to ask, spaghetti should be a little firmer.
Olga L — Google review
We had a very nice dinner at Pimenton restaurant. I ordered the Argentina Grilled meats which was huge and included beef, pork chop, chicken, two different sausages, grilled asparagus and mushrooms. I didn’t think the sausages had much flavor but enjoyed everything else. We also had baked mussels, puree potatoes and tomatoe-garlic toast that where good. Thank you to all the staff and the owner for a pleasurable dining experience.
Sean C — Google review
If your trip to Vientiane leads you to Pimentón, don’t skip the Tomahawk steak and its decadent truffle offerings — they’re showstoppers in their own right. Tomahawk Steak at Pimentón From the moment it’s presented, the Tomahawk commands attention — long bone, generous marbling, and that sizzling aura as it arrives. The open-grill set-up lets you watch the finishing touches: the char, the smoke kiss, the juices pooling just so. When done right, it delivers: a deeply beefy flavor, rich fat that melts into the lean, and a satisfying crust that gives way to tender, juicy slices. Pair that with a crisp side and you’ve got a steak experience that lives up to the hype. That said, some diners have flagged inconsistency — even when grilling technique seems sound, the cut’s chew has disappointed a few. So, ask for your doneness and inspect the first slice. Truffle Dishes & Truffle Accents Pimentón’s truffle touches (in sauces, pastas, maybe even finishing oils) lean into luxury without overdoing it. These dishes elevate the experience: earthy aroma, silky mouthfeel, pairing smartly with the beef. While there’s less voluminous comment about the truffle offerings specifically, the general consensus is that their emphasis on “organic sourcing, simple presentation, open fire technique” fits well with the restrained use of premium ingredients like truffle. When the truffle is used — whether in a sauce, a risotto, or shaved over a dish — it feels intentional, not showy. Final Take Pimentón delivers on the theater and the flavors when it comes to the Tomahawk — it’s a destination dish. If you go, be bold: ask for the best slice, check how it’s done, and let the staff guide you. The truffle side notes are the perfect companion — subtle, well judged, and classy. A truly memorable dinner for those who appreciate meat and nuance.

This restaurant has elevated hamburgers to the next level of delicious. All canivors should go here for their next beef eating experience.
Matt M — Google review
Nice modern industrial chic decor. Food and service excellent (we had a selection of tapas). Steaks looked delicious and that's what we will return for next time. Highly recommended. The restaurant doesn't look particularly inviting from the street and you wouldn't know of the lovely modern interior. Would be better if they opened up the area in front for a couple of tables for dining outdoors.

Asian restaurant
Lao Kitchen, located in Vientiane, offers a delightful experience of traditional Laotian cuisine. Situated near the waterfront, the restaurant provides a pleasant ambiance for diners to enjoy authentic dishes such as grilled Mekong fish, Pakse-style pork sausage, and bamboo shoot stew. Additionally, they serve delectable desserts like sticky rice with mango or banana and coconut milk. The menu also includes vegetarian options to cater to various preferences.
Big fan of the food here, specially the southern stew! We went for a cooking class on the day before and we were told that the food at lao kitchen was not as good as in our class. Definitely a bit different but still delicious.
Cláudia C — Google review
Place is clean and service was fantastic. Set up cutlery and served water. As for taste wise, it was not fantastic but decent taste. Tourist spicy level, which is zero to low, may be requested in this restaurant.
Chris W — Google review
Great options for Laotian food! It is a really fancy restaurant. Keep this in mind! Food definitely costs more than other places around but I loved it and thought it was worth every penny. Staff were super sweet
Hannah R — Google review
Good place to sample local food. All dishes we had were full of flavors and in great portions. We ate the Pork spring roll, the Red curry steamed rice and the Khong soup (a vegetable soup). I do recommend all the dishes we had. The prices were were good too.
Patricia S — Google review
Nice explanation about Lao Food on the menu. The price is a bit high for what you get, the "small" fried rice with chicken is 25.000 Kip, for that I get a pretty big plate somewhere else. I missed any kind of spice in my rice and didn't get any chili soy sauce like you usually do when ordering this dish. There were no sauce or spices on the table to add to my taste neither. The mango sticky rice was so-so, I wouldn't recommend it since the mango itself wasn't ripe and sour instead sweet. Staff was nice and fast. Place was clean and calm.
Kai A — Google review
So many vegan options there! They serve brown rice, tofu and lots of veggies. Their dishes are usually made out of oyster sauce. I just asked them to use soy sauce instead and they were happy to do so. The prices are really cheap and you‘ll get a great meal for that. I‘ve already been there several times!
EARTHLING — Google review
I ordered the fish cakes to start and the red curry for mains, both were good but just good. Maybe it was just my choices that didnt give the chef a chance to shine but what I ate was fairly average. Staff and setting were lovely.

A lot of tourists eat at here. Good Laos cuisine with affordable price. Taste great!

Makphet is not just a restaurant serving modern Laos cuisine, it's also a vocational training restaurant run by Friends-International, an NGO supporting disadvantaged youth. The cheerful space adorned with student paintings offers dishes like Ancient Fish and banana flower salad. The establishment stands out for its social mission of training and empowering marginalized youth in culinary skills. It's also known for its innovative approach to local ingredients, blending contemporary and traditional Lao culinary styles.
the student training aspect is nice but the food is outstanding regardless. the fish with coconut and lime Sauce was one of the best meals I had in 10 days traveling Laos and Vietnam. it was like a savory warm ice cream; hard to describe but it was basically perfect. some teenager here is the best cook in SE Asia.
NoahJon M — Google review
A decent place to try homemade Lao cuisine. I tried the daily buffet options - the manager told me they're for locals. I imagine it's typical to get a plate of rice and pick 2-3 dishes out of the 7-8 available selections, but since I'm a tourist he offered me a larger portion served on a plate per dish. Which was not a bad thing because I really enjoyed the fish larb! 😋 The sausage wasn't as spicy or herb-y as I'd expected it to be. Overall I wouldn't mind coming back to try out other dishes.
Andy C — Google review
Good crisp fish with basil and chilly sauce. Other food was also good. I liked papaya salad and the beverage here. The student staff is very good service, kind and made me satisfied. I recommend you to visit here if you want to try Lao food in Vientiane. The price is also affordable, coming from 10:00AM to 1:30PM to get discount for some of meals.
Hưng T — Google review
We stopped here for lunch on our first day in Vientiane to try some Local Lao food. Whilst it was not my favourite the food was all cooked fresh and was a high quality. The staff are super attentive and helpful. If you’re looking to try Lao food this place seems like a hit with the locals too

Makphet Restaurant — meaningful dining with a cause. This restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a social enterprise that trains young Laotians with valuable hospitality skills. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who are clearly putting in their best effort. The menu is limited but carefully selected — every dish I tried was tasty, well-prepared, and clean. Service can be on the slower side, but it’s understandable and worth the wait given the mission behind the restaurant. Dining here feels good not only for the food but also for supporting a great cause in Vientiane.
Kitsada S — Google review
I think this is the place we had best food in Laos. My fried fish with sour cream sauce is amazing. Fish smelled so good, and the texture is tender. They cooked with some kind of vegetable that I don't know but it was a perfect match. The sauce is really something. Ask for a drink in a glass if you're drinking there to avoid plastic!
Thien D — Google review
I ordered a red curry with chicken and 20 minutes later got a yellow curry with very low flavor and a tiny portion for 60,000kip. Dissapointing just like most places in this area. The customers of this place seem like local and Chinese businessmen that probably enjoy this kind of lame food.
Nit A — Google review
A great social enterprise that’s helping younger Laotians learn skills. The menu is limited but all options are delicious, thoroughly recommended

L'Adresse de Tinay is a renowned French restaurant in Vientiane, offering a fusion of French and Lao cuisine. The head chef, Tinay Inthavong, brings over 20 years of experience from France to create traditional French dishes with an original touch of Asian flavors. Situated in the heart of the city, this intimate and chic bistro provides an upscale dining experience using fresh local ingredients.
Excellent food and service. We felt it was the best meal during our short stay in Vientiane. Spinach “cappuccino” soup was great, as well as the main dish and dessert. A slight blemish to the overall experience was the overcooked side dish (muchroom and potato).
Charn Y — Google review
Stopped by for lunch with a friend while I was in Laos. Great soups, tilapia was wonderful, Salmon too. Simple, understated but chic atmosphere. Would definitely come back again. The crepes sounded delicious will have to try another time.
Saf A — Google review
Hugely disappointing after the reviews here on google maps. Food is incredibly expensive and for vegetarians, the best option is to go for the set dinner- vegetable pie and mash and veg. The ravioli pasta was undercooked, dry and the mushroom stuffing was bitter. The 115,000 kip Caesar salad wasn't creamy, just tasted of anchovies and didn't use romaine but other greens which were wilted. Overall the food was too salty. The recommended dessert- the Black Forest, was watery cream and "jam". The service seemed to be run by one person who I assume was the manager who was friendly. She took most orders and was also in the kitchen. We asked for the bill a couple times but only got it from her when she got out of the kitchen.
B I — Google review
A pleasant but not particularly memorable meal at L'Adresse - the execution was mostly good, though there were some oddities in the dishes that just didn't work. The goat's cheese pastries were more like stingily-filled spring rolls, the cassoulet lacked the richness and comfort you'd normally expect and it came complete with a strange foam on top. Given the price and reputation, the dishes here need to be elevated somewhat!
Connie C — Google review
Went there for lunch. They have reasonably priced lunch set (48,000 kip) which includes large soup or salad, steaks (chickens, beefs, porks), and desserts. The food is delicious. The service is ok, some waiters seem to more ready thsn others. The inside area is quite dark woth mosquitoes.
Mai S — Google review
Food is excellent. Products are fresh. The restaurant is classy and delicate. However, the owner should take himself a bit less seriously and considers his clients a bit more. It was cold, the A/C was blowing at us (half of us got sick the following day) and even we complained many times it was really hard to have him fixing that issue. He just wouldn’t believe us, or falsely thought he other customers were happy with the situation (we asked them - they weren’t). He should relax a bit and treat his customers with less haughtiness and L’Adresse will be really... an excellent address.

A lovely little “home” restaurant that serves yummy Laotian food with great service and a cute sense of humour. Read the front page of their menu, where the “Kip is not worth the money it’s printed on”😅 and because there is a shortage of staff, patrons are encouraged to talk to each other. We had the cherrywood-smoked chicken, flowering mustard greens and Mekong fish. And both sticky rice and black rice. Plus coconut ice cream. We were pleasantly stuffed.

we came here for lunch as I always wanted to try this out after watching it on youtube. it is located inside a retro bungalow, the interior reminds me of my grandma home. the food here is slow-cooked, so don't Please Don't Rush, tasty and flavourful. However, taste is rather subjective as the some of the flavor may be too "jungle" or "herbal" for general taste, especially those expecting it to taste like Thai food. These are very distinctive Lao food, do visit for a new experience !

We enjoyed the experience here with interesting selection of delicious dishes that had nostalgic feel to them. Foods were tasty and flavorful. Staffs were very friendly. The atmosphere feels like you are eating at home.

The restaurant is very small but cosy. Their business concept is hardly commercial: they're open just for a few hours and only three days in a week. They compensate for it serving high-quality local food prepared from organic ingredients in home food style. Their menu is not big, but changing every day. The staff can communicate in basic English. Smoking is allowed in a small backyard where they have a few tables too. You can also buy there a book written by the owners, with recipes from Lao cuisine.

Great taste 😁. Spiciness is different, maybe it's the authentic Lao? It's kinda little sour with lingering aftertaste sweetness. Don't forget the ginger ice cream after eating huh! 😅 My friend asked for a "bophet" sauce but I guess they don't have. 😁

The quality/flavor is great but the presentation and portion sizes are extremely disappointing. I feel a little uncomfortable paying 600k for 2 ordinary non alcoholic drinks (tea and coffee) and two TINY desserts that aren't even garnished. Staff was very kind and I appreciate that.

Great restaurant, owner very nice man, fantastic reccomendation on the pasta. Also with the wine. Also was allowed to order a bottle of wine to take home. Will go back on my next visa run from Udon.

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 (Which I could give it 10) Environment: 5/5 Variety: 4/5 Quality: 5/5 Value for money: 3/5 Yes, it's an outstanding place to bring your loved ones for dinner, I can't mention enough on how much I'm impressed with the service, we were also promptly seated. The environment and seatings are great, luxury is the best word to describe it. There is 0 worries about the food quality, all foods are clean and authentic. Some menus feels like overpriced, especially desserts. (Doesn't mean they're bad) [Photos below: Crème brûlée, Panna cotta, Spaghetti Ragoût]

Laotian restaurant
Han Sam Euay Nong, also known as the 'Three Sisters Restaurant', is a family-run establishment located near the riverside in Vientiane. It offers a valuable buffet-style lunch with a variety of delicious dishes to try. The restaurant is a great place to fuel up before exploring the crowded night market.
I eat here virtually every evening during my monthly visit. The food here is fantastic and very affordable. The portion sizes is typically asian. I usually order a main and a side of vegetables or salad and fried eggs. Sometimes Service was alright. I enjoyed sitting outside on the stone chair and table for my meals.

This bustling restaurant has earned a reputation as a must-visit destination for those wishing to indulge in the vibrant flavours of authentic Lao cuisine. Even during peak hours, the establishment operates with a remarkable efficiency that ensures patrons are seated and served promptly. The attentive staff members, known for their warm hospitality, are always on hand to offer recommendations and cater to diners' needs. The menu is a delightful journey through Laos's culinary treasures, showcasing an impressive array of dishes. From cherished traditional favourites that embody the essence of Lao culture to comforting noodle creations that warm the soul, there is something to satisfy every palate. It’s an ideal spot for tourists keen to immerse themselves in the local flavours and experience a true taste of Laos.

One of the popular restaurants of Vientiane. It was located next to our hotel and the first meal we had at Laos was at this restaurant embracing local food at the earliest. Communication can be a bit of a challenge as english is not known to most of the ones serving but the menu has pictures which you can point out to while ordering. Laotian noodles soup and fried rice was our regular order when we dined here. The lao coffee is avoidable out here and better tried at coffee shops nearby. We met the 3 sisters who were very catering and sweet. Loved the entire vibe of this place and it is a must visit when at Vientiane.

Good cheap food in a place that feels less touristy for being in a pretty touristy part of town. Not fancy. I didn’t love the spring rolls but I liked how they cut them into bite sizes. I asked for spicy and I feel like they didn’t go all the way spicy.

Absolutely excellent. Extensive menu. All classics cooked to perfection. Friendly service. Sumptuous smoothies.
Floyd C — Google review
Sat and waited forever before they finally took my order and the food was awful. It was an empty restaurant so not even busy. I ordered Nan cau which I’ve had many times and is a savory dish but they mixed coconut milk and lime juice which made it absolutely disgusting. Plus they were rude and so slow. I still paid even though they served me cold dog food. This place is a trap stay away.

Heard about reputation & good reviews here. But food was not expected. They have both Thai and Laos dishes. Taste of dishes we ordered so very normal, not too bad not too good. A bit salty. Long list menu, many eaters, large house with many tables.
Hoang N — Google review
If you are in Vientiane, this place is a must-go. I think i went there like 3 or 4 times during the very short time i stayed in Vientiane. Very nice place for foodie who want to try the Laotian dishes as well as Vietnamese ones. The staffs and all three sisters(aunties i would say) are very friendly. The staff can speak English and mostly understand what you mean so you can tell them if you cannot handle spiciness of spme dishes. Or maybe ask them how it taste in advance. The prices are really reasonble and really worth it given the taste and service. I personally recommend Laotian noodle bowl(it was sooooo good) and rice and beef stir-fry. You can also try other meat dishes and salads if you want to explore more flavors. Be careful with salads since they are mostly quite spicy. Always paired spicy dishes with some fruit shakes, you will love it.

PVO is a Vietnamese restaurant in Vientiane, Laos that specializes in banh mi (sandwiches) and pho. The food is delicious, and the sandwiches only cost 10,000 kip.
A Vietnamese restaurant with delicious dishes in every menu! Fresh vegetables, large portions, and very fast service. Overall, the price is very cheap, about 100 Thai baht per person.

I feel lucky to have found this restaurant! It’s spacious, clean, and very well organized. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, so there's something for everyone. The highlight for me was definitely the sandwich – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. They also offer delivery, which is super convenient. Highly recommend!

Saw Vietnamese and barged right in 😀 had shrimp rolls and banh mi with juice . Everything was good and filling. Bought some snacks from the ladies right outside the restaurant which were good too.
Sreelakshmi — Google review
PVO is one of our preferred restaurants in town! They serve clean, fresh and delicious common Vietnamese dishes for breakfast and lunch for different favourite and budget. Today after church we took our grandma aged 85+ who is on wheelchair for breakfast she liked and thumped up the food and service! The restaurant is always busy and finding a parking spot can be challenging. But mostly people and patrons are very kind, friendly and helpful. So be patient and show respect to locals. Thank PVO for their good taught and wishes of making accessibility for wheelchair people 🙏

The food similar with VNese food, with a bit adjust to suit with Laos taste. Beside main dish food like noodle, Banh mi, Cha cuon…we still can find Rau cau dua, Sua chua deo, Cha gio, Cha lua, Gio thu…infront of restaurant

Such a wonderful restaurant very basic and simple, but the food is excellent, and the price is extremely cheap. It gets very, very busy and it’s not difficult to understand why being such a great place to have a nice breakfast, especially. I get what you pay for so do not expect the best service or a luxury restaurant. It is what it is and that’s perfect. Good honest food at great price. Really really really recommend anybody to go here .

If you are looking for great Vietnamese food in Vientiane, this is the place to go. They have a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes to choose from. We ordered the Pork Pho (rice noodle soup served with fried bread and bean sprouts) & Bi Bun (pork rice noodles with a fried spring roll). Both of them were close to authentic flavor and the ingredients all seemed to be very fresh. The staff is friendly and spoke good english, making it seamless for us foreigners to order. The menu has english and Lao as well, so it is easy to look at the options. The place was very clean, including the toilet which was immaculate (this is hard to find in Laos). I highly recommend giving this place a try and I look forward to coming back and trying more of the yummy dishes.

Reviews looked great so we decided to give it a try. Food was amazing!!!! The service was prompt, polite and overall great with a laid back and relaxing atmosphere. They were closing soon before we finished and we never felt rushed or anything other than welcome. The food, order anything because everything we had was amazing! 7 out of 5 all day long and highly recommended!!!

Udon Thani International Airport

International airport
Airport
Udon Thani International Airport is a small regional airport with efficient services. The check-in and baggage claim processes are quick, ensuring a smooth travel experience. While it's primarily a domestic airport, there are basic amenities available at reasonable Thai prices. The airport has three gates and offers assistance to monks with a dedicated resting area. Additionally, the airport has expanded its parking facilities to accommodate longer stays at affordable rates. Despite being busy with frequent flights, the airport maintains cleanliness and good facilities for travelers.
Small but efficient airport offering convenient access to the northeastern region of Thailand. The facilities are clean and well-organized, with basic amenities like cafes, souvenir shops, and car rental services. The staff are helpful, and the airport handles domestic and a few international flights smoothly. It’s easy to navigate, making it a stress-free experience for travelers.
TOngz N — Google review
Very busy lots of flights. It's a nice clean airport with good facilities. They have built more parking space for longer stays at lower prices. Flights are mostly delayed, so advice picks up drivers. It's a lot more busy now. Pick-ups can be harder as they move you on

Friendly, no fuss, all services available, ease of checking in. We were very graciously welcomed, checked in & helped by the check In staff st Vietjet counter. Assorted restaurants offering good & beverages. 3 ATMs on the floor.
Anil S — Google review
Vietjet ticket office has one lady staff that spoke very rudely and in a condensensing tone to me when I questioned the pricing of checking bags at the counter. Apparently there is a 4 hours before the flight requirement, according to her, to get regular check in prices. I could not find any such wording on their website. I was ok with the extra charge but not the bitchy attitude.
Richard — Google review
Has improved a lot over the last 5 years, spacious, food choice and sanitary.

Small airport, but gets the job done efficiently. Baggage claim was quick on arrival, and the toilets were clean and well-maintained. Smooth experience overall.

Cute airport located and catering Udon Thani Province. Well maintained and well kept airport. Staff are friendly, and all the airport processes are fast and quick. Located with convient acesss to city centre. Airport has all the required shops and restaurants and caters most of the country's national and international airlines/destinations.
Akshay H — Google review
Please noted that this is a domestic airport and no service if you wish to has your bags checked through to your final destination airport. Example. Singapore. You have you retrieve your items BKK domestic and check in at international counter again. Just make sure you have minimum 2-3 hours for your next flight. Udon is a modern airport with 3 gates. As usual the Thai people are very helpful. First time I noticed a special area for monk to rest.

Wattay International Airport

International airport
Wattay International Airport offers a convenient official taxi service just outside baggage claim for easy access to the town. The airport shops use USD for pricing, and credit card charges are in USD as well. The only payable lounge could benefit from clearer naming. Despite its small size, the airport is clean and efficient for arrivals and departures. Pre-clearance shops offer items priced in KIP, which can be cheaper compared to post-clearance shops with prices in USD.
Small airport but clean, fast service. Money exchger by the EXIT door BUT go out and make a left turn to have better rate. 2 exchangers . I choose the " Phongsavanh Bank". Loca or Indirve app Taxi will come to main entrance to pick you up.

This airport is not very large, but it handles international traffic reasonably well. 🛄 The organization and flow are acceptable, though not particularly impressive. 🛃 Basic facilities are available, but don't expect too much in terms of comfort or services. Tip: As of 2025, there is shuttle bus from/to Talad Sao, center of the town , only 40k Kip.

less than 10 mins from downtown. good checkin for air Asia but Lao airlines was long. early AM flight didn’t have passport control open until 90 mins before departure. u won’t go hungry here but quality is mediocre. passport and security control were fine. many people throwing away vapes as they are not allowed in carry on. coffee was good at both eateries I tried. not gonna win any awards but there are many many worse airports in asia. overall it’s satisfactory.
NoahJon M — Google review
VTE is honestly one of the dirtiest airports I’ve ever been to. There were cleaning staff around, but most of them were just sitting around doing nothing while trash piled up. Floors were visibly dirty, with plastic, bottles, and waste scattered throughout the terminal. For an international airport, this should be a serious embarrassment. The facility clearly needs better management and accountability when it comes to cleanliness.
Jr M — Google review
Very basic and small airport but pretty efficient due to the low volume of flights. You can use KokKok app to get a taxi or take a bus, but if you are brave just walk. It's a straight road with many coffee shops on the way. It should take you around an hour (around 6 kms).
Sharon S — Google review
Surprised there’s no free WiFi at this small airport—feels outdated in this day and age. Thankfully, having access to the airport lounge made a big difference. On the plus side, arriving here, the exchange rate here is decent, and it’s convenient to buy a SIM card right at the airport (good deals )
P P — Google review
A good small airport, just a 15-minute drive from the city center—very convenient. Check-in and immigration were quick and smooth, which made the whole experience stress-free. There are a few shops in the duty-free area, though prices are a bit on the higher side. One downside is that there's no Wi-Fi available. Overall, a decent airport for a short and efficient travel experience.
Ella B — Google review
It’s not one star because the guy organising the taxis was far too helpful, but the security is troublesome and customs only there to collect money from foreigners, no wifi and poor seating and toilets. One of the worst and a perfect home for Lao Airlines.

Loei Airport

Airport
Nestled about 50 kilometers from the charming town of Chiang Khan, Loei Airport serves as a convenient gateway for travelers exploring this picturesque region of Thailand. This small yet efficient airport is primarily serviced by two low-cost airlines, making it easy to hop on a domestic flight from Bangkok. Upon arrival, passengers enjoy a seamless experience—just a short walk down the plane's stairs leads directly to baggage claim. With only one terminal and gate, departures are equally straightforward.
This is one of the smallest airports in Thailand. Only Thai Air Asia flies here. Arriving at the airport is extremely easy as you just walk down the stairs of the plane about 20 metres to the baggage claim. Even easier on departure as they only have one door and one gate. The staff are so friendly and this is a great airport for a domestic flight

Small but Glad there is Airport here. Only Thai Airasia operates here (as of June 2024)

Small and very easy to access. The airport is clean, not crowded and the staffs announce much better and clearer English than in Don Muang airport. There's an excellent restaurant around 200 steps nearby that sells both local and western foods and drinks.

Loei Airport is a well organized and fast Airport. The Staff ensured that we can board and take of on time. The Arrival and Departure Halls are clean, well air conditioned and spacious enough for the Size of arriving and departing Planes. Power outlets are available and near the Seats. All in All a pleasant experience!
