New Chitose Airport

Airport
Domestic airport
International airport
New Chitose Airport is the main gateway to Hokkaido, Japan's northern island, attracting tourists with its snow, seafood, ramen, sweets, and hot springs. The airport offers various attractions to keep travelers entertained during layovers or delays. These include a hot spring complex, a cinema, and two small theme parks - Doraemon Exciting Sky Park and Hello Kitty Happy Flight.
New Chitose Airport is honestly my favorite airport in Japan! It’s not just a place to catch a flight — it’s a destination in itself. There are tons of souvenir shops, selling everything from sweets and snacks to high-quality local products. So many options to choose from — you’ll want to spend extra time here, trust me. There are also plenty of cute photo spots and check-in areas, making it fun even before your flight. And if you’re flying domestic, you’ll be surprised how enjoyable the experience is — smooth, organized, and full of charm. Get your luggage ready, because you might leave with a lot more than you came with!

Nice, clean, and comfortable airport. It’s not huge, but has a good selection of restaurants and shops for travelers. We arrived early, so many eateries were still closed—most open at 9:00. Facilities are well-maintained, and signage makes it easy to get around. Security and check-in were smooth. There are souvenir shops selling Hokkaido specialties like Shiroi Koibito cookies and Royce chocolates, great for last-minute gifts. Seating is comfortable, with plenty of charging spots. There’s also a kids’ play area and an on-site hot spring. The airport feels organized and relaxed, making it a pleasant place to start or end a trip.
Pechaporn P — Google review
New Chitose Airport is a great example of how a regional hub can feel both modern and welcoming. The terminal is impressively clean with a warm, airy design — lots of natural light, wood accents, and an inviting layout that makes waiting for flights less stressful. Before departure, the airport really shines. There are plenty of food options, from casual Hokkaido specialties like soup curry, ramen, and seafood bowls, to popular cafés and bakeries, plus well-stocked souvenir shops filled with local chocolates and dairy products. It’s easy to enjoy a proper meal or pick up last-minute gifts before your flight. However, once you pass through customs and security, the choices narrow considerably. The post-immigration area has only a few shops and dining spots, which can feel underwhelming compared to the lively pre-departure zone. Travelers who want variety are better off eating or shopping before crossing into the secure area. Overall, though, New Chitose is a very good airport: clean, efficient, and friendly, with a touch of Hokkaido charm. It provides a smooth travel experience, especially for those connecting between domestic and international flights, and makes a great final stop before leaving the island.
Min M — Google review
Probably the best airport I've been to and I've been to a lot. It's not the newest or the most architecturally stunning airport but it has the most to offer. Countless places to gwt some great food at a good price, a beer or even some unique souvenirs at a great price which is rare at airports. One architectural point of note is the long arc of the terminal, which allows one a view of the planes and runway at any gate. Tip: if it's too busy near your gate, just walk away to a quieter spot and get a seat and a view. Just make sure you get to your gate on time!

I would like to thank staff at the Tourist Information Centre. We landed in Chistose from Brisbane and went to an English speaking staff member on the day we landed and she saw our drafted itinerary with day trip from Sapporo. The lady that helped us was kind and very helpful, she helped us organise our Otaru and Cape Kumari day trip. Where we were thinking of paying over 3 times on a taxi, she organised our Shako Shuttle Bus to Cape Kumai from Bikuni and saved a lot of money. The shakotan peninsula was beautiful and she reserved our seats and gave us a time to leave Otaru to Bikuni. We are most grateful to her for scheduling our shuttle bus.

Love the vibes here! Make sure you come earlier, there’s so many resto, foodcourt and shops and even onsen spa. It’s Just like little Japan in one place. But they close pretty early like 7-8pm.

I really love CTS Airport—everything is convenient and easy, from arrivals to getting into town. There are convenience stores, ATMs, restrooms, and money exchange counters readily available. Most of the staff can speak English, which makes the experience smooth and stress-free for international travelers. It’s a well-organized and welcoming airport that leaves a great first impression of Hokkaido.

This is not a normal airport. It was an airport which had shops for you to buy a lot of things as souvenirs. The largest inside the airport provide a variety of food for you to choose from. And the views you could see from the windows was spectacular

Day-use onsen
Onsen
New Chitose Airport Onsen is a convenient and affordable way to relax before or after your flight. The facility offers indoor and outdoor hot spring baths, four types of bedrock baths, spa treatments, and a nap room for post-soak relaxation. For just 1,500 Yen per entry, visitors can enjoy the various bathing facilities including pools and saunas. The onsen also provides toiletries and has English-speaking staff available to assist guests.
I heard so much about this place and today I got to experience firsthand. Well I am a great fan of onsen. This place offers 3 pools of different temperatures indoors. One of them has jet stream. Also there were dry sauna and steam sauna too. There were two pools outdoors where one provided stone pillows with bubbles massage around neck and shoulder area if you lie on the pillows. After onsen if you want to relax there were two relaxation areas that one was for both and one designated for female only. Also there was a restaurant inside that one could just walk in for it without going to onsen.

Fantastic! First time here can't believe I get to experience onsen in airport!! If you stay at air terminals hotel it free as well! It open at 5am so enjoy the outdoors hot springs as well! (There's wooden door) free locker too . It locations at 4F once you see Hatsune Miku turn right you should see the iconic design! Highly recommended I felt soo refresh too!

Oke, for first time it was a little bit surprise knowing that traveler can't stay overnight in area sapporo airport building. We have early morning flight, and it was winter, because we are afraid there will blizzard in the morning so we choose to come night before flight and stay overnight in airport. That's we found that all area in airport will close and we must move out. Luckily the security told us that we can stay in airport onsen in 4th floor. It can be said a little bit like lounge? The facility available are onsen, make up room with amenities and hairdryer, yukata, locker, sleeping chair, full flowing water and breakfast. Breakfast available from 6 am. The onsen consist of 3 pools and many water taps and its stool. If you want a little bit privacy, go to onsen in approx 4~5 AM. It cost 4600 Yen/person if you stay overnight, and I think it was better than to have sleep in hard chair like another airport. It is suitable for visitor with early morning flight
Prima P — Google review
Just filled my needs in the long waiting for my flight. At first I didn’t know they have onsen in the airport, and today is the last day of the trip, after return the rental car, I came to airport and thinking about how to deal with the 7 hours waiting time, onsen is very good, 3 hot bath, 1 cold bath, and 2 露天風呂, you can see the view from it, also they have steam room, even body scrub service( i didn’t try, it need to book in advance) and the relax room for you to sleep when you are sleepy, i do sleep for a while and charge my phone here, the massage chair is also nice and cheap(300 yen/ 15 minutes) in the lobby side they also provide massage service, around 9000 yen per hour if i’m not wrong. highly recommend if you do have time for your flight.
Chien C — Google review
Had complimentary entry for the spa courtesy of staying at Air Terminal Hotel. However this onsen has a STRICT no tattoo policy even after I had covered it up with tape. Counter service was polite enough about it.
J P — Google review
Very convenient if you are arriving late in Chitose or need to catch a very early flight the next morning. Price is good which comes with light breakfast, indoor and outdoor onsen are great including the sauna and steam room
Kevin T — Google review
Super convenient for staying overnight if you have an early flight. The 5 star rating primarily goes to the convenient location, otherwise it would be a 4 star rating. ¥4,600 for overnight stay, which I think it's a tiny bit much but still cheaper than any hotels in the near vicinity.
Allen C — Google review
Rest easy, fly refreshed at Chitose Airport Onsen! I recently stayed overnight at Chitose Airport Onsen with my family to catch an early morning flight, and it was a fantastic experience! The facility is incredibly neat, clean, and well-managed, making our stay comfortable from start to finish. The highlight of our stay was the exceptional service provided by their manager, Mr. Take. He was courteous, caring, and welcoming, ensuring that we felt right at home. The two rest and relax halls with comfortable reclining chairs were perfect for unwinding after a long day of travel. However, be aware that you might lose some sleep if other guests are snoring loudly. Despite the overnight charge of 2000 Yen, the onsen is excellent value for money, especially considering the exorbitant rates of other airport hotels. The simple breakfast and free beverages available all the time were a nice touch and much appreciated. Given that Chitose Domestic Airport closes at 11:30 PM, forcing passengers to vacate the premises, the onsen provides a crucial and convenient option for those critical night hours. Overall, Chitose Airport Onsen is a wonderful place to stay, and I highly recommend it for any travelers needing an overnight stay before an early flight.

Shopping mall
Chitose Outlet Mall RERA is a shopper's paradise, offering a wide range of products from clothing and sports gear to interior items. With over 400 brands, it caters to both international and local tastes. Located conveniently close to the airport, it provides a less crowded shopping experience compared to outlets in Tokyo and Osaka. Visitors can also enjoy Hokkaido specialties at the mall's eateries.
First thing you'll see after the airport since this is the closest stores. When we arrived, it seems like only few people go here to shop. There are a lot of stores around but we didn't see much people. That's kind of good for shopping since you don't have to go around a crowded place. Though I'm not quite sure if business wise, if its good to be there. There are also restaurants around to have a quick bite since Sapporo is still around 40 minutes to 1hour drive, depends on where you are going.
Dapple M — Google review
This is a ghost town, not sure why the management has made it clear to public about it. There is just one shop here, Krispy Kream and nothing else, like many Japanese stories this one might be another aswell where they open the entire mall because one shop is still here. Do not go to this place, it's waste of your time and money.
Pradeep A — Google review
Now only the Krispy Kreme remains - every other store has completely closed. The lights are on, music is being played out of the speakers and the place is being maintained for now. The only visitors are locals getting by donuts or going for a walk. Few people seem like they are just having a look out of curiosity. Interesting but not worth a visit.
Alister B — Google review
Except for New Balance & ABC-Mart Sports Outlet, this is a ghost town with all other shops closed. Wouldn't recommend this place. What a pity.
Kerry S — Google review
It is a fair size outlet mall similar layouts as those in North America. But many stores are closed leaving only limited stores that are open. Not too many people during the day. Some stores are heated. There are a few coffee spots and food places as well. Hope more stores will be opened and more people coming here.
Tomson C — Google review
Don't go! All shops closed except Seria ,ABC shop, GAP and Puma. It is like a ghost town. dont waste your time going. The alternative outlet is Mitsui Outlet but not easy access by train. Best is to take a bus from Sapporo JR Station.
Tony C — Google review
Went to this outlet few years ago and it was great with lots of shops. However, most are shut down now, only around 8 shops are still opened at this moment (May 2024). Regret that I didn’t check the recent reviews before coming! It’s a nice place but super waste of time as only less than 15% of the shops are occupied and functioning … deserted outlet like zombie movies. Not bad if you don’t mind only a few shops, cos the outlet is quiet and spacious
Clara C — Google review
Only 50 Percent of the shop are open. It's very very quiet. Most shop are closed due to the COVID pandemic. As tourism are slowly returning,it will take time to recover. Visited 30/06/2023.

Perfect for buying stuffs to bring home from Japan. I found some same items from New Chitose Airport at a cheaper price. Perfect to buy groceries you need if you are staying near the chitose mrt train.

Not a good idea to kill the time here. Aeon supermarket is okay, more choices but others are worse. Restaurant choice is less than Domestic airport. I got one set of Ramen and Pork with rice for 1,160 yen, not too bad.

I like it here cheap supermarket to get all kinds of items such as snacks and fresh fruits. Definitely cheaper than sapporo. Stopped by because i had to wait for the bus to go to lake shikotsu. Their tempura yams and pumpkin are pretty good. Various shops and food court is also in the same building.

Nice AEON! Very friendly staff, plenty of options!
Haubert Y — Google review
What more can be said about Aeon? One of the largest brands in the nation Aeon typically offers a supermarket as well as a department store experience. We solely came in for the supermarket section and it was massive. Prices are reasonably priced and you'll be able to pick up all your essentials here as well as all the food you can imagine. If you're staying in the area as a tourist with a kitchen, then I highly recommend stopping by to pick up a few things to cook on your own. We bought a lot of Japanese beef and cooked them up ourselves; the beef was super fresh and flavorful so it won't disappoint!

An average local japanese department store. No tax free.
Gordon F — Google review
AEON Chitose serves as the primary shopping hub in the city, providing a spacious parking lot that ensures convenience and ease of access. Its proximity to Chitose Station makes it even more reachable for shoppers who prefer public transportation. This multi-faceted store shines brightly in baby goods availability, catering to the needs of families with little ones. The ground floor houses a large-scaled grocery store, which makes shopping for daily necessities extremely easy and convenient. The lack of a similar competitive store in Chitose city lends AEON a monopoly, but this also comes with its own set of drawbacks. The mall could greatly benefit from adding more attractive tenants to diversify the shopping experience and cater to a wider customer base. Overall, AEON Chitose is a reliable one-stop shopping destination with ample facilities but could use a little more variety in its tenant mix.

Zoos & Aquariums
The Salmon Hometown Chitose Aquarium is a contemporary and compact freshwater exhibit situated on the banks of the Chitose River. The establishment primarily features salmon and other freshwater fish species, with an entrance fee of 600 for adults, which includes access to a feeding demonstration that provides an impressive spectacle. A visit to this aquarium is strongly recommended if you find yourself in the area, as there is also a shop selling high-quality local agricultural produce at reasonable prices.
It's within walking distance from Chitose Station. The food court at the adjacent roadside station is affordable and delicious. You can also experience releasing young fish into the river, and the way the riverbed is displayed is excellent.
Youji N — Google review
Overall, this is a well designed and interesting aquarium. There are a large variety of displays, from huge tanks with lots of fish, to many smaller tanks with no tops, where you can look straight down at the fish and other creatures. The range of different species of fish is also impressive. As well there are frogs, snails, turtles, crayfish, and even an axolotl. Seeing the river through the glass is so unique. We loved watching these wild fish. All the tanks, water, and glass were spotlessly clean. We also liked the fact that the aquarium wasn't too big. It was just enough. My only unhappiness was the 3 minks going mad in a space that was too small for such active animals. It was distressing to watch.
Pamela A — Google review
Great place for kids to spend a couple hours. Lots of exhibits and the view of the lake is pretty neat. Can be done between 1-2 hours
John H — Google review
For English speakers. A unique aquarium where most of the fish here are freshwater fish. You get to learn about how Salmon is caught and history of it. However many of that section is not in English and is all in Japanese. You'll need to use the translation app for that. They have a seasonal section too and for the summer they have bugs. Various beetles and even some snakes. Neat to see. The layout is great and the place is clean and well organized. I would definitely recommend checking this out especially if you are by the michi no eki right next door. They also have a underground section where you can see the actual river next to the building to see wild salmon if you are lucky to see them. All in all, highly recommend for family with kids to check out.

Surprisingly good and I loved the fact that you can actually see the river from below ground through the glass. There actually is a lot of salmons passing by.

'More than I expected! Chitose Aquarium is fun for adults too." The Chitose Aquarium, the home of salmon, was a stopover during a trip to Hokkaido. To be honest, from the name I thought it would be a small facility specialising in salmon. But I was disappointed in a good way 😊. Admission is 800 yen for adults. The museum is spacious and has a wide variety of exhibits. Not only can you learn about the ecology of salmon, but you are also welcomed by a variety of other creatures 👌. The following exhibits left a particularly strong impression on me: - Sturgeon: the sight of this huge freshwater fish swimming leisurely is a powerful sight. - Chinese eel: the way it peeks out of the sand is adorable and you can't stop looking at it. - American mink: swims underwater and climbs trees like a little ninja. - Eboshi chameleon: it was refreshing to see it on display without a fence and to be able to observe it up close. In the Underwater Observation Zone, located underground, visitors can observe the actual Chitose River through a window. If you are lucky, you can even see salmon running upstream up close, giving you a first-hand look at the workings of nature. The museum is clean and the exhibits are carefully explained. There was a sense of ingenuity throughout the museum to make it enjoyable for both children and adults. Especially for men in their twilight years like me, it is a valuable spot where you can forget your everyday life and refresh yourself 📣. If you visit Hokkaido, please stop by. It is definitely worth more than the price!

Matsuo Jingisukan is a popular restaurant in Sapporo known for its lamb BBQ, perfect for warming up during the winter. The set portions are generous and can be supplemented with free rice and miso soup if you're extra hungry. The staff make an effort to communicate in English, and individual meat packs are available for purchase as souvenirs. Customers praise the tender, flavorful meat and abundant vegetables, along with the attentive customer service.
We had a special Lamb Jingisukan 🐑 set meal for lunch.. The meat is very tender and delicious! 😋 You should try this when visiting Hokkaido.. Thank you for your service Ma'am ☺️ #ThankYouLordForEverthing #happyvalentinesday

The taste is passable, but not too surprising. The lamb flavor itself is not too strong. The sauce is quite salty. 3.5 Stars.

As our last meal in Hokkaido, we went for another round of lamb BBQ inside the airport. They have a special sauce for the lamb that is pretty rich that is best enjoyed with some rice or udon. The standard lamb option isn't quite filling, so the side of sausage was perfect for us! Crowd Size: Average Serving Speed: Average Payment Method: Credit Card

McDonald's is a beloved fast-food institution that has been serving up delicious burgers and crispy fries for years. During a recent visit to the McDonald's located in Aeon Chitose, I found myself amidst the hustle and bustle of a local festival. After parking my car, hunger struck, prompting me to place an order via mobile for their limited-time lemon squash shake and some classic fries.

There was a festival in Chitose City, so I used the parking lot and got hungry, so I ordered a limited-time lemon squash shake and the standard fries through mobile order. It was a popular store and crowded even at around 1:30pm. The seats inside the store were crowded, so I used the food court seats across the street! The lemon squash🍋 shake was unexpectedly sweet with a hint of lemon🍋. It's not sour, so even children can drink it. It's a limited-time item, so it's a bit refreshing? *Well, it's a bit sweet. French restaurant
Northern Italian restaurant
Restaurant AKIOKA pere et fils is an elegant establishment that offers a wide range of Italian culinary options, including both multi-course and a la carte selections. They also provide bento boxes for those seeking a quick and delicious meal. Located in a small town, this hidden gem surprises visitors with its exceptional quality and friendly chef who introduces daily fresh ingredients. While the light course requires the entire table to order, guests can opt for individual dishes from the menu, which are equally delightful.
After a warm welcome from the owner/chef, we enjoyed a delicious Italian meal featuring fresh, flavorful local ingredients. The modern style dining room is comfortable and elegant. We travel to Italy often highly recommend this gourmet restaurant that feels like a great trattoria! Bravo!

Excellent food - you've found a real gem here. The experienced chef knows how to cook European food and we had an excellent tomato and mozzarella salad followed by vegetarian alio olio and braised beef. Good wine and great bread too!
Graham — Google review
I cannot recommend this spot highly enough. Understated decor and a quiet location disguise the complexity that lies within. It’s best to order one of the Omakase courses. There are several options ranging from lighter to extravagant, based on how much you’d like to eat. (There is also an a la carte menu.) The chef is a culinary genius; every component of the meal was surprising and delightful. He speaks very good English and carefully explained the nuances of each plate. From the fresh, house-made walnut baguette at the beginning to the strawberry cardamom compote and panna cotta at the close, I was amazed by the subtlety and flawless execution. There is a nice wine selection as well. I only tried red, but the Bordeaux and Cabernet that I had were both incredible. This restaurant alone is worth making a trip to Chitose, and if you find yourself here already it’s not even a question. I will be back as soon as I can!
Sam E — Google review
The restaurant uses mainly Hokkaido ingredients and the elaborate cooking brings out the delicious flavor of each ingredient. The satisfaction and happiness you get is worth more than the price. The chef explains the dishes thoroughly. The grilled abalone with abalone liver sauce was so delicious I nearly fainted.

We stayed at the Best Western Plus for the night and wanted to try something different from typical Japanese food. Just a 3-minute walk away, we found an Italian restaurant called Akioka. The chef spoke English, which made ordering easier. We had a duck dish, chicken, and spaghetti with crab meat — everything was delicious!
ML F — Google review
A very good restaurant within the small town unexpectedly, the chef was very nice and had introduce us different daily fresh ingredients. Unfortunately the light course require the whole table to order, at last we ordered a la carte, but was very nice. The environment was very relaxful and the service is nice :) food are served hot and beautifully (sorry for my bad camera skills) would definitely come again if we travel here. (A bit hard to find so utilize Google map) 好好食!

Chitose is a small quiet town, and it is the last night I stayed in Hokkaido. At first, I didn't expect to have a great dinner here, and after searching from Google, my wife show me this place and I chose here. Surprisingly, all of my family like this dinner very much, especially the beef steak, which doesn't show in the English menu, but I saw from the review, so I asked the chef. It was fantastic. The fish saute was also very good.

Ramen restaurant
IORI is a small ramen stall that offers a unique and wonderful dining experience. The shop's ramen has a slightly charred flavor, giving it a distinctive and delightful aroma. The pork in the ramen is described as amazing, with a nice and soft texture. Customers appreciate the addition of shredded ginger, which adds another layer of taste and complexity to the dishes. The restaurant is well-designed and clean, deviating from the typical ramen joint atmosphere.
Had a really good lunch before the flight, I got the Miso ramen and it’s very flavorful! The ramen texture is just right, and the chashu was so tender, it was amazing!
Emily C — Google review
We drove 20 minutes just to have their noodles. Take note, very few parking lots. Thus you can imagine how reputed the ramen is. They close at 1930h so coming here late can lead to disappointment. Affordable yet delicious, its a comfort bowl of goodness you'll appreciate.
Mel M — Google review
Excellent place for a ramen. It was a good alternative to Menya Rey Ramen just a few blocks down. The noodles was done perfectly al Dante, and the broth packs a punch. Portions were decent and overall excellent.
Joel — Google review
Excellent noodles. Nearly certain that they make their own noodles. Broth is very good. Very efficient turn over. Cash only. Ample parking. Smells amazing as soon as you get out of the car. Definitely worth the stop here. The spicy one had heaps depth in the broth. Great find!!
David W — Google review
Wanted to eat sushi at the restaurant opposite but had to wait an hour so we decided to pop over to this ramen stall. Which to our surprise served very very good ramen. I can taste that every bowl of ramen was slightly tossed in the wok. The slightly charred flavour gave this shop’s ramen a unique and wonderful smell. Their pork is also amazing, not too fat and it is nice and soft. Really live this place.
Daniel K — Google review
Came here on a Thursday afternoon around 1330 and the place was quite full. Till we left at 1400 it had a steady amount of people coming. Ordered the spicy miso 900 yen and the standard miso ramen 850 yen and both were really good. They add shredded ginger which gives it another level of taste and complexity. The shop is super clean/ well designed and not like a typical ramen joint. They have around 10 car spaces you can use for parking Only find out about here because Toyota rent a car had a ramen recommendation list of chitose and was really glad we decided to go! Definitely recommend going.

I keep coming back to iori. It’s good. Simple and done well. Very meaty broth, but a clean meaty flavor. A good layer of oil, nice meat, a little ginger. I opted for the larger “omori” size and and egg. The ajitama was nicely executed. Will try some fried rice next time I go. The table next to me had a plate and it looked (and smelled) great.

Day 2

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Mitsui Outlet Park Sapporo-Kitahiroshima, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Royce’ Chocolate World. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Shopping mall
Mitsui Outlet Park Sapporo-Kitahiroshima is a must-visit destination for shopping enthusiasts exploring Hokkaido. Nestled in Kitahiroshima, this expansive outlet mall boasts over 170 stores featuring both local Japanese and international brands, all at enticingly discounted prices. Although it wasn't part of my original travel plans, I was drawn to it after hearing rave reviews from fellow travelers.
A quiet and big shopping mall if you like to shop branded clothes, shoes, bags etc They have a supermarket that sells lots of seafood , vegetables, fruits and snacks. There are also some food shops such as ice cream, mochi, coffee, etc. We strolled through the mall and visited the ice cream shop. The ice cream is good!

Sheltered outlet with a food court and a few restaurants. There are two buildings : clover and maple malls. If you are a tourist, head to the information counter to redeem your voucher.
Derrick T — Google review
A bit out of the way, but it is actually an easy commute from central Sapporo for tourists (train then bus). They have really good deals on winter clothes and shoes. Even had a blundstones pop-up, unfortunately no big sizes.
Neil C — Google review
This outlet mall is fantastic, offering a wide variety of brands and an impressive shopping experience. The mall is spread across two buildings, conveniently connected by a footbridge, making it easy to navigate. The discounts here are incredible, with plenty of options to suit different tastes and budgets. The food court is a nice addition, providing a great spot to recharge during a shopping spree. I tried the banana crepe with cream and Nutella—it was absolutely delicious and a perfect treat! I also picked up some body care products and sportswear as a reward for the day, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchases. Overall, this is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for great deals, variety, and a fun shopping day out!

2 buildings of most sought after brands and some premium ones. Plenty of food court and restaurants too. VAT refund available in all stores. Free parking onsite.

It’s a fully indoor premium outlet, has the usual big brands, but didn’t feel like there was big discounts so we wrapped up pretty fast within an hour. 6 Jul 2025 Visited on Sunday 12pm. Quiet and not crowded. Calm and peaceful environment to take a walk around. However, was disappointed to not find any alpacas here. Came here for the alpacas but they were not here anymore. Only had sheep around here, but u can’t get up close to take pictures with them. Tomato tree was quite interesting to see. Overall not worth a visit if you want to see animals

This place is great if you want to be amongst nature and see animals and plants The have the biggest tomato plant in the world which is cool! They also have sheep dog race and show which is fun to watch. Kids seem to enjoy it a lot. The pizza here is very fresh and tastes great! Its made from the tomatoes and cheese which is made on the farm itself. The workshop for alpaca 🦙 making is cute! They have a souvenir and gift shop too with a lot of items made in the farm itself. You can get here from Eniwa station by a local bus which comes every 30 minutes on the hour. We took a taxi which costed about 1500 yen. Its fun to come here if you have some time until you take the flight Overall nice place for a pit stop!

Very large garden and farm combination. The Ginga garden requires a few to enter but I think it is well worth the cost. The wood work at the main restaurant is amazing and so are the many artworks found around the park/garden.

The most incredible gardens I have ever visited in my life. Such expertise ! I got goosebumps so many times, and they kept me on my toes, the entire time. Each garden has it’s own fantastic narrative, with every little detail breathtakingly beautiful. I felt like I was a little kid again, eager to discover what was in store for me next !

Must visit if you have some time to kill before going to the new chitose airport. Great atmosphere and many things to do.

Not worth to go and pay 1200 yen / pax. Things to do - walk the garden (not much flowers bloom yet and I was not there for flowers), you may take a tram at specific timing (we didn’t know until we walked a lot) - only a few alpaca and there’s no interactions - a lot of walking in the garden and from garden to animal farm - nothing much to do / see I thought it’s a waste of money and time and trip Perhaps you may try going during the special dog/sheep show timing, otherwise I don’t recommend

There's a chocolate shoppe, a factory behind a display class for passersby to see, plus a mini-museum all within the same area! The museum has an interesting display of their history of products, the creator as well as how they were advertised throughout the years. Fascinating presentation of chocolate making from the source to the actual making. From lovely little animal shaped chocolate to the yummy bakery selections. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Got the bread with nama chocolate as the filling. This is nice but I would prefer it baked less brown so I can heat it up without worrying it burnt. The crossiant is not nice even after being toasted. It may not be made of butter. The price does not justified the quality. I expect the bread to be golden yellow brown instead of baked so dark brown. Should not buy again unless i c an improvement.

This Royce Chocolate World is one of the many things that make this wonderful experience. Very cute food; it’s not GOOD but not that bad either. Decision to have sweetened chocolate powder in their mozzarella pizza is bold but made it more interesting. Very comfy space generally, with some tatami-floor low tables. I heard that you can't use the hot springs on a day trip unless you stay overnight or eat a meal, so I made a reservation that included a bath. Since it was a weekday, the seats weren't all taken, but it seemed like about 80% of the seats were taken. The buffet was centered around salads, and was filled with healthy dishes. I think the roast beef was the main dish, and it was also incredibly delicious. I was impressed by the exquisitely tasty fries. I was having dessert when the time came and I wished I had a little more time. It's a really wonderful place.

(Translated by Google) I think it's best to think of it as an Italian buffet. The main dishes were delicious: risotto, gnocchi, and roast beef. The salad and bread were also delicious. The sweet potatoes and potatoes were also delicious. There were three main desserts, each with about three different flavors. The drinks and coffee were also delicious. The selection of dishes wasn't extensive, but they were all delicious. The view from the restaurant was beautiful, and the tables were spacious, making it comfortable to sit at. They cleared the dishes quickly, and the staff was friendly. The women all enjoyed it, but the men were a bit disappointed. (Translated by Google) I think this is a good example of selection and concentration. By offering a small number of delicious dishes, you can keep costs down and still be satisfied. The clientele is clearly all female. I would give it 5 stars, but it's mainly vegetables, with one meat dish and one fish dish, and no children's dishes, so for the average man or child, it would probably be 2 stars (lol). It's not a lunch buffet for families. Also, there are no pre-made dishes, and everything is delicious, which is what makes it so appealing. It was 3,900 yen including the hot spring at Tsuruga Resort. This is a bargain. The price difference with the accommodation was incredible. The hot spring has a calm atmosphere and is thick, and there are many types of baths, so I was satisfied. The meal alone is 2,700 yen, but I recommend the bath set for 3,900 yen. I was very satisfied with all of this. Also, parking is 500 yen, so the actual meal is 3,200 yen, and with the hot spring it's 4,400 yen. It's also good to enjoy not only the lunch buffet, but also a stroll around Lake Shikotsu and an underwater sightseeing boat (2,000 yen for 30 minutes). I went on Thursday. I didn't make a reservation. I went at about 11:10 for the 11:30 session. I was underestimating it because it was a weekday, but I was told that only the terrace seats outside were available. If you want to go safely, you should make a reservation even on Thursday or Friday. By the way, please note that the lunch buffet is not open on weekdays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and on holidays in April and after November. So, when I went in at 11:30, there was a line in front of the food. Since there are only a few dishes, the customers who entered the restaurant at 11:30 all lined up at the same time. By 11:45, the line had thinned. So, if you're going on Thursday or Friday, it's probably best to make a reservation or buy a ticket in advance and go at 11:45 on purpose. 11:30 is a little early for lunch, and there are only a few dishes, so everyone finished eating in about 50 minutes. At 12:20, 50 minutes later, there was a line for coffee. On Thursdays and Fridays, you just have to finish eating by 13:30. Unlike weekends and holidays, there is no second session on Thursdays and Fridays, so there is plenty of time for meals from June 1st to October 31st, 2025, from 11:30 to 13:30. (Baths are open until 15:00) By the way, on weekends and holidays in 2025, there will be two sessions: 1st session 11:00-12:30 and 2nd session 12:40-14:10. Even though the number of dishes is small, it is possible to arrange a lunch course meal by combining the buffet. ・Appetizers (assorted about 10 kinds) ・Soup (corn soup, clam miso soup) ・Pasta (regular and gnocchi) ・Fish dishes (rockfish and vegetables steamed with herb butter) ・Meat dishes (roast beef) ・Desserts (various cakes, etc.) ・Bread (various) ・Drinks (coffee, tea, herbal tea, juice) There are other dishes, and curry and white rice are also available. Speaking of Tsuruga, the Tsuruga Roll is one of the must-haves, but I couldn't find it anywhere... Also, there were no smoothies in the lunch buffet. I liked them though. I think they were available a few years ago... I guess this is the result of selection and concentration, it can't be helped. The best thing for me was the clam miso soup. I think the roast beef was the main dish. It was delicious. The balance of red and white meat was good, and it was soft and had no sinews. I thought it was good meat. Also, when you combine the rockfish with a sweet potato dish, it was like a brandade and was delicious.

If you're looking for an exceptional sushi experience, Kitanohana Hayashi is a must-visit. This highly recommended restaurant offers sophisticated flavors and textures in their high-end sushi dishes. The friendly and kind staff make the dining experience even more enjoyable. Despite limited Japanese proficiency, patrons can still fully enjoy their two-hour stay.
We came here for the last dinner of our family trip to Hokkaido, which ended up perfect and beyond what I expected. The food quality is of course fantastic, the food amount was also perfect. The service was great as well. Overall we had a very pleasent dinner/night, highly recommend.

Lake Shikotsu, located in a volcanic crater, is renowned for its remarkable depth and crystal-clear waters. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as boating, fishing, and sightseeing around the lake. The area also offers a diverse itinerary including stops at Nakayama Pass Rest, Silo Observatory, Lake Toya Onsen Town for lunch and sightseeing, Showa Shinzan Bear Ranch, Noboribetsu Jigokudani, and Mitsui Outlet Park.
The combination of sunset and winter makes Lake Shikotsu truly breathtaking. The stunning views and serene atmosphere create a magical experience. Plus, there's an ice festival by the lake, offering beautiful ice sculptures and a unique winter charm for ¥1,000 per adult.

I've been here multiple times and it's always beautiful. You can walk, use the sightseeing boat, swanboats, paddle boats etc. They all cost between 1000-2000 yen per 30mins to 1 hour. Perfect place to rest with family or even alone. Though make sure to bring CASH!! All the restaurant use cash expect for 1 or 2 store. There's an ATM on the map nearby but closes at 12pm. Also all the shops closes by 1600 and 1700

Lake Shikotsu, a stop between 2 cities! Driving from Sapporo to Noboribetsu isn’t that long, about an hour and a half, or so I thought! (Read the bottom part) so we decided to make a stopover at Lake Shitose! About half way between Sapporo & Noboribetsu. What an amazing destination & a total favourite with both locals & tourists alike! They have this humongous Tourist Information Center, a whole bunch of very popular restaurants, and an activity Center, can rent canoes and all kind of other lake related stuff! My lady wanted to do the “Swan Ride” on the lake, but unfortunately closed as the water was a tad choppy! A lovely park for a nice stroll and of course a promenade, to wander along! Enjoyable for a 90 minute layover so to speak! Certainly worth it! too #googlemaps! Please make sure you update your navigation, the road to get out from there, was closed adding another 60 minute driving! Although the scenery was lovely but still! 😡 #sapporo #Japantravels #MarketAdventures #gourmettravels #selfdrivingholidays #hokkaido #noboribetsu #sapporo #lakeshikotsu

Lake Shikotsu is truly a natural wonder. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling forested mountains, the scenery feels both peaceful and vibrant. The lake itself is remarkably clean, with crystal-clear water that shimmers beautifully under the sunlight. There’s a refreshing moisture in the air that makes every breath feel crisp and pure, almost like nature’s own air spa. What makes Lake Shikotsu so amazing is its serene beauty combined with its untouched atmosphere. The calm surface of the water reflects the surrounding green hills, creating postcard-like views in every direction. Whether walking along the lakeside, taking a boat out, or simply sitting by the shore, it’s easy to feel relaxed and recharged here. Overall, Lake Shikotsu is one of Hokkaido’s most beautiful natural spots—green, clean, and full of life. A perfect escape for anyone who loves pure nature and breathtaking landscapes.

Spectacular lake view surrounded by interesting volcanoes. I suggest coming in autumn when most of the leaves are yellow and red, which will enhance the experience. You can go stand up paddle boarding and pedal boating on the lakes. On a clear day, the reflections of the clouds and mountains in the water is incredible. When you take photos of the fish, the reflection makes it look like the fish are swimming in the clouds. Perfect for any occasion, this place is a must come.

This place was clod with strong gust of wind… it gives a vibe of winter wonderland. The shop closes early at 4pm so we weren’t able to have a snack. It was too bad that we missed the last day of ice festival, just 1 day before as well. Despite all of those, still nice to be here… this place is mesmerizing 🥰

I visited Lake Shikotsu and it was a very nice experience overall. The lake is known for its beautifully clear water and stunning scenic views, and it definitely lived up to its reputation in that regard. The natural surroundings are peaceful and make for a relaxing atmosphere — great for taking a walk or just enjoying the scenery. There are a few things to see and do around the lake area — you can explore the walking paths, visit the small shops and cafés nearby, or take a sightseeing boat ride on the lake. The views of the mountains reflecting on the water are truly beautiful, especially on a clear day. That said, the area itself is relatively small, so depending on what you’re looking for, it may be more of a short visit than a full-day activity. It’s great if you want to appreciate nature and take some nice photos, but there aren’t a huge number of attractions or activities beyond the lake itself. Overall, Lake Shikotsu is worth a visit if you’re in the area and want to enjoy some beautiful natural scenery. It’s a nice, calm place to take a break from the city and soak in the views.

(Translated by Google) Lake Shikotsu has been familiar to me since I was a child. I have spent several weeks holed up in the forests surrounding Lake Shikotsu, so I often row a canoe around the shore of Lake Shikotsu. At that time, when I learned about the site of a former U.S. military campsite, I researched the history of Lake Shikotsu with great interest, and from the information I saw online at that time, I learned of the existence of the Oji Light Rail Mountain Line Lakeside Station. Although it is only partial, it is a valuable space where you can learn about the history of Lake Shikotsu and Tomakomai from a time that I didn't know about. The Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival is a magical experience, especially when the sun sets and the sculptures are illuminated. Despite the cold, heated pathways make it easy to explore without slipping. While souvenir shops may be closed, there are delightful cafes and a cafeteria offering delicious food. The 500 Yen entrance fee for this national park is reasonable, providing stunning views and great photo opportunities, especially during sunset.
Worth visit! 500Yen for Entrance Fee is acceptable for national park. Good View and Nice Sightseeing. Recommend arriving around 16.00, so you can enjoy sunset and have nice light for photo shooting.

It was magical! We went while the sun was still high and we walked around, ate, and stayed till we got to experience the sculptures being lit up at night. It’s very cold, but there are heated pathways to melt the snow so that it’s not slippery and easy for anyone to walk or push their baby strollers. The souvenir shops were closed unfortunately, but the little cafes and the cafeteria served delicious food. The national park surrounding the lake was covered in several feet of snow so it would be best to wear waterproof, coats, shoes and gloves.

Shikotsu-Tōya National Park is a breathtaking natural wonderland that boasts stunning caldera lakes, active volcanoes, and serene onsen resorts. This park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and wildlife lovers alike. While camping outside designated areas isn't permitted, the park's vastness allows for unique experiences in nature. One of the highlights includes a picturesque waterfall accessible from the former Chitose Mine site, cascading gracefully over rocky ledges.

Mount Fuppushi is a dormant volcano with a steep trail leading to its top, offering stunning views of a caldera lake. The mountain is covered with a forest of spruce and deciduous broad-leaved trees, including the Todomatsu and Abies sachalinensis species. Climbing this "leisure mountain" requires proper footwear due to its athletic feel, rope areas, and steep climbs.
An incredible hike. The summit has views of the volcanic Mt. Tarumae and Mt. Eniwa. The beach tree scenery near the summit it lovely.

Chitose River offers a diverse and ever-changing aquatic experience throughout the seasons. Visitors can witness juvenile salmon in spring before they depart for the ocean, while summer brings sightings of yamabe trout and Japanese dace. The city has been involved in hatching and raising salmon since the early Meiji Period, using a fish wheel to capture adult fish during their upstream migration. This spectacle attracts numerous onlookers, with as many as 30,000 fish being captured on abundant days.

The sign at Chitose Bridge explains the origin of the river's name, which was interesting. [Explanatory sign at Chitose Bridge] Origin of the river's name The area around Chitose city today was called "Shi-Kot (large stream)," but because it reminded people of "dead bones," it was renamed "Chitose" after the cranes that fly in the area. This name "Chitose" was also given to the river, and it became the current Chitose River. It's one of the four major tributaries of the Ishikari River, stretching over 100 km. The Chitose River basin is surrounded by forests and has little human activity, making its waters crystal clear. It's also home to a large number of fish and waterfowl, and is famous as one of Japan's leading salmon habitats. However, it was once prone to flooding. While its gentle gradient means the flow is much calmer than the other four major tributaries, the rapids of the adjacent Yubari River and the Ishikari River, the main stream, often cause floodwaters to backflow into the Chitose River, causing significant damage. This led to the Chitose River Floodway Project being proposed in the 1980s (though the project was canceled in 1999). The confluence with the Ishikari River is in Ebetsu City. It is also very close to the end of the Yubari River. In the past, the two rivers merged to form one, then merged with the Ishikari River. The fast-flowing Yubari River was called Otokogawa (male river), while the slower-flowing Chitose River was called Onnagawa (female river). We parked our RV in the parking lot and spent a night in Chitose Aoba Park, not far from the Chitose Airport and the RV rental company; parking RVs or other vehicles in there over night is allowed, the park is open 24 hours a day and many cars were parked there that night. We chose to park there because our rental RV needed to be returned the next day to a location not far from the park. The next morning, we woke up to find a beautiful park as green as anywhere on the planet, with the crystal clear water of the Chitose River quietly flowing through it. Local people camp here at night, walk and birdwatch here. What a wonderful park for the lucky ones who live around the area.

(Translated by Google) There hasn't been much snow this season, so I had given up on the opening of the ski resort, but the other day it snowed heavily and I immediately loaded my ski gear in the car and went out to check it out. The lively voices of a few people enjoying skiing and about 10 families playing sledding echoed on the slopes, reminding me of the lively times when I was raising my children. At that time, there was a line to ride the rope tow on the slopes, and people could be seen watching warmly as children practiced desperately. It reminded me of a ski teacher who divided into many groups and skied in spurts like a procession of ducks. I cherish the small ski resorts that are close to me and are rich in nature. I would like many people to come and have a great time. Today, I was able to use it as if it were my own ski slope. The snow quality was great and it was fun. At lunchtime, we took a break at a warm rest area, and although it was an old building, the toilets were also clean and well-maintained ☺️ The soy sauce ramen I had for lunch was delicious🍜I was surprised at how much it cost 550 yen. Moreover, the tickets are cheap and the price is friendly to citizens. I posted a post about going out and playing with my family during the winter in the northern country. (Translated by Google) The turf maintenance and value for money are certainly good. However, the telephone service and front desk staff are quite cold and unfriendly in a sense. I'm still a beginner with only a few rounds to play, but I usually get cold responses when I ask questions beforehand at golf courses in Hokkaido. While 80-90% of golf courses are sympathetic, this one feels cold and uncooperative? Perhaps those who know will understand, but I think it feels unnaturally cold and uncooperative. The restaurant staff is friendly, and the hot spring staff are also friendly, so it's a shame. The cart staff also didn't explain anything. There's no staff at all. 😭 I probably won't use this course again unless it's completely booked. Even if the course is in excellent condition, the greens are fast and challenging, and it's an attractive course, if the front desk and cart staff are unhelpful or unfriendly, I'll choose another golf course in the nearby Chitose area, even if it's good value for money. The first place I went to was Meisui Fureai Park, which I had passed many times before, but this was my first time going inside. I arrived at the gate a little before the park opened at 9am and waited until the gate opened. When the park opened even though it was a weekday, cars were arriving one after another. Among them was a woman with three borzoi dogs who were putting them into the river. The borzois seemed to be having a good time❗ The rest of the people are people who fetch water from the famous springs and are tourists from the mainland. Conveyor belt sushi restaurant
Sushi restaurant
KANTARO is a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant located on the 3rd floor of an airport terminal. The sushi is fresh, and there's a good variety as chefs are constantly making new ones. It offers both table and counter seating, with orders placed via a mounted tablet and promptly delivered while the rice is still warm. The menu is available in multiple languages.
Couldn’t ask for more with that price and quality of sushi. All the ingredients were very fresh. Otoro melted in your mouth. They did the hot dishes very well too. Highly recommended crab salad and deep fried dishes. And they used a special seaweed in their miso soup for a silky texture. You placed your order on a tablet. You could give special commands such as ‘No wasabi’ per dish, which was very kid friendly. Although it was located in an airport, all the stores closed at 8:30pm, and the last entry of this store was about 8:00pm.

無雙皇后Queen B — Google review
The food was very fresh and flavorful but considering the amount of food we ordered it was pretty pricey. The line was pretty long when we got there but moved quickly. Although they advertise as a conveyer belt sushi spot, the chefs would just hand us out sushi after we placed the orders on the screen in front of us.
Jess — Google review
Decent sushi, but fairly expensive. The sea urchin was so-so, but the other dishes were good. The conveyer belt wasn’t active, so the dishes were just made-to-order. The menu was available in English, Mandarin, Korean, and Japanese.

The sushi is amazing good with fair price and high quality!! I would love to travel to hokkaido again for this!! There are english menu on the ipad so no worries on ordering at all

Chawanmushi and Miso Soup lack umami. Salmon miso soup contains mainly salmon fats, meat is almost not existent. Avoid if you do not like salmon fats. Sushi was mediocre by Japan standards.
NiyGnof U — Google review
It has a very good Japanese sushi train vibe. The sushi js very fresh, sushi chefs are always making new ones. A very good choice of restaurant to spend your time before departure, it may not be the cheapest option but if you are looking for a light meal you can always just go for a few plates.

Yakiniku restaurant
Mutton barbecue restaurant
Sapporo Ginghis Khan Chitose is a popular yakiniku restaurant known for its delicious lamb barbecue. The simple exterior with just the name 'Genghis Khan' written on the lantern sets the stage for a cozy dining experience. The restaurant operates on a system where you order one serving and can ask for more as you go along. While the food is praised for its excellent taste, some find it to be a bit pricey.
Recommend highly if you want to taste BBQ in Chitose! The lamp&spareribs was gorgeous. Niseko Sake was great too❤️ Cash only.
Kyoko O — Google review
A yakiniku restaurant in a quiet street, and the food tastes good. The lamb, which is the only meat they have, was nice and juicy. It's better to come here in groups of 3-4. I had a wonderful time with my friends. PS - The food is a little too expensive. We spent around 4000 yen per person and we were still feeling a little hungry after that. Hence, it is not 5 stars
Nicholas T — Google review
The lamb is tough. But the ribs is good. Service is not so good compared to other shop we have visited. The staff over charged 2k my bill. Friendly reminder check before u pay

You will be amazed at the completely odourless baby lamb. It was the best lamb I have ever tasted in my life. It's a charcoal barbecue, it's very smoky, so wear something you don't mind smelling! No parking, no reservations.

Ajisai is a delightful dining spot that perfectly blends the charm of an izakaya with the elegance of a small restaurant. During my recent visit, I was captivated by its serene atmosphere and fresh offerings. The menu features an impressive array of dishes, including succulent sashimi, butter-grilled scallops, and unique fried camembert cheese wrapped in tofu skin. The raw oysters are particularly noteworthy for their size and freshness, embodying the essence of the ocean.

(Translated by Google) Visited for lunch. I was shown to a seat in a small raised area. Does that mean I can charge it since there is an outlet? When you look at the menu, it's very reasonable! Lunch includes soba noodles and a mini bowl for less than 800 yen. I have Yamato potato yam soba. My companion ordered a set of soba and mini salmon bowl for lunch. A cup and water are set on the table. This system is a little scary. First, the soba-yu is brought to you in a pot with condiments and pickles. When I opened it, I saw green onions and two types of pickles. Pickles are just plain fun. It's a dangerous colored pickle for a free service. Soba noodles are a little plump and dark in color. It doesn't have much of a scent, and it doesn't feel particularly good down the throat, so it's a pretty average soba. However, the yam is delicious! Tsuyu is a little salty. When I added it as usual, it was a little too dark... I also had a bite of the mini salmon bowl, and it was delicious! I like the slightly rough feel. This is cheap in the 700 yen range. There was no hot tea available, so I warmed up some soba hot water and enjoyed my meal.
