Beautiful place, even if it's a bit commercial. Lots of unique stores, cafes, etc. It gets quite crowded but it's still very nice, it has a cozy vibe. Many locals visit it.

2025.9.16-17 We spent 2 nights in Jeon-Ju to soak up the this UNESCO historic village’s atmosphere. On a weekday…to avoid the crowds. It rained the 2nd day. So we were fortunate to catch the sunset on the 1st day. Our hotel overlooked the village. So beautiful. In the evening, it’s even prettier and romantic. While I am disappointed with the commercialisation (lots of Hanbok rentals, loud pop music being played, restaurants, souvenir shops), I realised it is absolutely necessary to sustain the site. As it is, there are many shops that closed with signages for rental. I personally prefer this to Bukcheon. It’s quaint and easier to walk (flat as opposed to hilly). Lots of historical and Confucian significance. There’s even a 600 year old gingko tree. Many of the restaurants here are as reasonably priced as the ones outside the village. Even for a non-history buff, I would gladly return to this village again.

Nice to go to on weekdays. A bit crowded at weekends and public holidays. Some good eating places and lots of souvenir shops. Recommend the shrine and the associated museum. If you're feeling brave you can walk around in traditional Korean costume!

Visiting Hanok Village was certainly a pleasant experience in spite of the overtly touristy vibe. However, it the neighborhoods immediately surrounding Hanok Village proved as interesting, if not more so, than the village itself.

I’ve visited Jeonju more than 10 times, and it never gets old! The Jeonju Hanok Village is beautiful — full of delicious local food, charming traditional houses, and fun activities to enjoy. This place is popular among both locals and tourists. Many visitors rent hanbok, which makes the whole atmosphere even more charming — it truly feels like stepping back into the Joseon era. A must-visit spot if you want to experience traditional Korean culture and take beautiful photos in Jeonju Hanok Village! 📸 If you prefer a calm and peaceful hanok experience, go to Andong. But if you like a lively, bustling atmosphere with lots to explore, Jeonju is the place for you. A one-day trip is doable, but it can be tiring with the travel back and forth. I highly recommend staying overnight in a hanok for the full experience. You can explore the Hanok Village, nearby hills, and the Nambu Market — there’s so much to see and taste here!

Our visit here was peaceful and relaxed. It turned out to be a far more serene setting than expected and our visit was further enhanced by a chance opportunity to witness part of an annual eagle worship ceremony held only once a year.

Visited early November. The autumn colours here were amazing esp the vibrant yellow ginkgo trees. This required a small entrance fee, but trust me, worth every penny. The surrounding worth walking both day and night, great place to stroll around and take in the hanok vibes.

Nice. Not too many people. The buildings look like many other palaces, can't really enter any building, just like any other palace, but this place doesn't have many chambers to enter anyway. 3k won entry ticket. Many trees. Clean toilets. Interesting museum at the back with no extra cost. Spare 1 hour here.

It was quite nice, but I expected more. The entrance fee was 3,000 won. Compared to other attractions, that's quite a lot for what it offers. We tried three Western credit cards, but none were accepted. That's a bit low for such a touristy place. June 2025

Really nice shrine to visit while you are in Jeonju. Gives you all the history of the shine and area while you are there, as well as some fantastic Royal Portraits. Well, it was worth a visit and was only 3000₩ to enter.

I got here late afternoon and could only see sweet things, would have liked to try something savory. Nonetheless the Apple Turnover (pie) was nice. Won't hurry back but as an institution, it's worth a visit. Lots of activity in the shop, it is clearly very popular.

We went at 8.30 am for breakfast and we're quite disappointed with each of the breads and beverages that we ordered. At 8.30 am, I expected the breads to be warm and soft since they were supposed to freshly baked, but I had to use the microwave in the store to warm them up slightly to prevent them from tasting like the previous day's leftovers. The castella was puffy and dry, and the coffee was not tasty either. We ordered the long sausage bread, the sausage bread, the chocolate soboro bread, the castella, an Americano and a latte. Everything was disappointing but expensive. This bakery ends up being a 1 star-deserving bakery that I wouldn't recommend. The only saving grace was how spacious the bakery is.

These sweets are disappointing. They look good, but the taste is not great. They have a really fake flavor that doesn’t taste like real chocolate at all. It seems like they use a lot of artificial colors just to make them look chocolatey, but it’s not true. They remind me of a snack popular when I was a kid called Phoskitos. Plus, everything is wrapped in plastic, which is annoying.

Bakery is great, lots of variety of cakes and bakes. The choco pies are a bit too sweet for my liking though, particularly the original one. I tried the original and banana one. Original is like a chocolate donut pastry with cream and jam, dipped in chocolate. Banana one uses banana dough and banana cream.

This bakery is huge (two floors) with a wide selection of pastries, though it is most known for its choco pies. Like many other bakeries, you fill up your own tray and pay at the counter. They will cut and heat up your pastries for you if you ask. They will also individually bag each pastry if you are taking the food to-go. I went in the morning, and it was not crowded. I got a choco pie, a hotdog bao, a walnut cookie, and a custard bun, all for less than $10. - Choco pie: The chocolate was too sweet, but the inside was light and tasted like custard. However, it was my least favorite. - Hotdog bao: The bao had a layer of crusted egg on top, which added a nice crunch. Interestingly, the hotdog was also crunchy. - Walnut cookie: It was like eating a cake in cookie form. Very airy but very sweet. Not much filling. - Custard bun: Soft and fluffy.

As soon as you entered, you were immediately hit by the smell of fresh baked goods - magic! 🤩 The famous Choco Pies were made and packed right before our eyes, which added an authentic character to this place! not to mention the decor that showed the history of the place! The prices varied a lot depending on the items but the Signature Pies were reasonably proces - between 2.300-2.500 KRW 🍪 This bakery is unusual because it also serves as a tourist attraction, so you can see that they make sure that everything is done "for the public", but it is definitely worth going there for the iconic Choco Pies!!! 🤎🍫

Jeonju famous local food - bibimbap. This restaurant is little out of main tourist area. There is no English menu or sign so might be korean / local place. Bibimbap was good with comes with stone pot + interesting sidedishes. We ordered seafood pancake as well. The taste seems it's microwaved. - taste was okay tho. If you want to visit i would recommend just bibimbap.

Best bibimbap restaurant in the area, better than the touristy famous Hanguk Jib. Family run restaurant with self made gochujang. You will find 3 generations of ladies running the place. Generous serving, very reasonable price, friendly service and very tasty food. 14 side dishes, rice served in iron cast pot, fermented soy bean soup and a kettle of barley water, all inclusive. Value for money and and you are not going to find a better bibimbap.

***This is my favorite bibimbap*** The meal includes 14side dishes and a soup as an accompaniment to the bibimbap. It really is a lot of food. Halfway through the meal someone will come ask if you want to add spicy sauce. Say yes and she will add an awesome green chili sauce and mix it in for you. I would say it is only mild to medium spicy. If I could only eat one bibimbap in Jeonju it would be at this restaurant.

How great! The best bibimbab restaurant ever. Can feel all ingredients in mouth and it goes crazy with kkaes ip or mug eun gi as recommended. Must try it with both side dishes. It has a kick. Hope I would get off some go chu jang.

One more best bibimbab shop in Jeonju with lots of side dishes and the staffs were really good. It is so close to family house restaurant. Even they taught us how to mix and eat the bibimbap. We have to go and book table, we need mobile number to receive or seat number. if you dont have mobile number you can approach them. Its always busy so plan accordingly. even you can book online. They also have vegetarian option. i recommend trying this one if you are at jeonju once.

Went to the night market, great food and lots of choice. There was a great atmosphere with lots of people all walking round. The beef noodles were great as was the deep fried octopus.

Very lively both at night and during the day. In the morning -afternoon, it's a market selling various things such as vegs and fruits, banchan, kitchen utensils, clothes, wooden tools, flowers, plants and some cafes/ restaurants). At night (I believe only on Fridays and Saturdays) there's a night market, around 50 or so stalls in the middle. Tbh, the morning market is more interesting with authentic experience. The night market only sell modern Korean food, mosty sweet and deep-fried things.

2025.9.17 (Wed) I have to admit: I have seen many markets in Korea (Seoul, Busan, Jeju)…..this is the least lively. I came during the day, and midweek. The tourist office says it is “open”. I thot the redeeming factor is the bimbimbap. Even that eatery is closed 😅

It's really sad that I see some empty store fronts, especially for the ones outside. But I'm glad to see that there is still a lot of merchants that are able to make it through here. Not sure if like modern centers, do the merchants all pay the market, or does the transaction go to them directly? I also wonder if most of the restaurants here take credit card. If not, it's very limiting. Didn't buy anything, just walked through. BUT there's tons of stuff to get here.

Maybe it's busy at certain times (early mornings? Weekends?) But whenever I've been there this place has been absolutely empty. The roof area of the youth market is a nice space which I imagine is great fun when busy.

2025.9.16 Tues Landmark historic gate that marks the south part of Jeonju Hanok Village. With Nambu market round the corner. Lovely at night. Closed to visitors. Probably for safety reasons as it sits on a roundabout.

It is absolutely beautiful. There are not a ton of things like this to see in Jeonju just wandering around unless you go for a bit of a hike so this is a great easy site to see! In a very convenient area right next to the hanok village so good food and cafes are bountiful.

Western influence. The church is beautiful and stands out due to its architectural design and religious history. Unfortunately when we were there we cannot go inside.

Couldn’t visit the interior as it opens at 9 and my tour bus was leaving at 8. I missed they have a 6 am morning mass otherwise I would have gone. Next time God permit. Hope you enjoy the outside views.

Solemn place for prayers. Not allowed to take photos inside though. Im not sure if the sign says not to do photo shoots with the hanbok. I didn’t take any photos inside just to be sure. But outside the yard is a beautiful garden to take pictures.

Before coming here, I suggest you read up on Korea's Catholic history, how it started, how it spread, and the people who died for that cause. Look, I'm not a Catholic, but you have to know the history in order to realize the religious and regional under currents that play into today's Korean politics. Otherwise, this is "just another Catholic Church" where tourists still wearing hanbok frollick & prance around and taking glamour shots 'for the gram'. Another thing is, they actually let you go inside the main hall and pray. Check it out, it's got some nice pieces. I'm not religious, but hey, Pascal's wager says it doesn't hurt to pray for me becoming a better boyfriend to my girlfriend.

2025.9.16-17 I first saw this church in the evening. I was looking to visit the next day (a rainy day). Well I was wearing skorts and was denied entry by a sister. It is a functioning church and I respect their rules. Still the church is beautiful on the outside. Nothing compared to the European ones. It has historical significance, especially those who were martyred for their faith.

It's a nice small village named Hanok. The old church and beautiful colorful streets are the attractions. You can try old korean dresses and can make some photos in beautiful streets.

It closes 5p.m. but you can take a picture only the architecture without a person. It's more simple and wonderful than with people. You can enter for free. 입장료없음/ 동절기 17시 폐쇄

We ordered the Kalguksu and Jjolmyeon. The Kalguksu soup was delicious, it had perilla powder and seaweed o top. We both preferred the Jjolmyeon, the noodles were chewy with nice fresh cabbage, zucchini topping and the red pepper sauce just made it more flavourful. :)

I don’t understand why this place only has a 3,7/5. The kalguksu is the best I’ve had in Korea so far. It’s super tasty with lots of spices and the broth is thick and contains an egg which makes it even more ‘full’. The staff isn’t rude or anything, it was just a bit weird that when she brought over my order the only thing she said was ‘pay now’… Anyway, loved the food and that’s what I came for.

Patronised the moment it opened at 9am, but there were a few patrons already. We ordered kalguksu and meat dumpling. You can choose to have mixed dumpling if you wished to try both meat and kimchi. The soup was so savory and flavourful. Thinly skinned mandu reminded me of xiaolongbao. Equally good. Dont be startled, a gentle reminder; to pay the moment food is served, accept both cash or card.

Very tasty anchovy soup. Noodle texture is good, but too much noodles. Dumpling good too. First restaurant that does not serve kimchi.

Jjolmyeom cold noodles was just refreshing. The soy bean sprouts and vegetables were crunchy. Dumplings also must try. Kalguksu noodles bland taste mixed with perilla seed, seaweed, egg soup is an unique experience

Food was delicious. The mangdu (dumplings) were fresh. The kalguksu was a mouth watering bowl. It left you feeling a bit lighter after eaten so much meaty meals during our stay. The price for both mangdu and kalguksu was KRW 17,000. The service was average but efficient. I lower my expectations on hospitality after first few days in South Korea. I just wish I have enough time to try the Hanok gimbab on the same street.

Only a handful of items on the menu, mainly soups with blood sausage. I've never had that before anywhere but I understand now why they've only had these on the menu for decades. The soup was perfection! Incredible value too 👍🏼

Super delicious hand made sundae and sundae kukbap! I absolutely loved it, the chillies are super spicy so be careful! I loved the sauce on the table to dip the sundae. Everything was super good and I still find myself craving it whenever I think about it.

I wanted to try this meal and I wasnt dissapointed. I wouldnt normally eat pig offal due to past experience but this was very good indeed. No nasty smell or flavour, very clean. The blood sausage reminded me slightly of blood sausage at home. Seamed a lot more blood in it than ones Ive tried in markets before, this was much higher quality and very tasty. The soup stock was really nice. Probably the most filling meal Ive encountered in Korea so far. Thank you

It's a great place for a foodie. I recommend the Sundae Guk, a type of Blood Sausage Soup, it's the best. Enough spice for a little kick but not to spicy.

I'm confused about the low reviews here. This place was recommended by our hanok host and it was lovely. The location is pretty and we had bibimbap and sprout soup which both tasted very fresh, the kimchi was very delicious and the owners were kind. Kimchi jeon was yummy too

We joined a kimchi workshop here and had an amazing time! The experience started with a tasting of different types of kimchi, which was both fun and delicious. After that, we rolled up our sleeves and made our own kimchi, while also receiving the complete recipe to take home. We even learned how to prepare kimchi pancakes and tried Korean rice wine. Everything - workshop, food and drinks, was included. The space was very clean, and the hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended — just be sure to book in advance to secure a spot!

Master of kimchi place if u have interested try this soup here is not bad. Tbh this soup taste is almost similar everywhere in Korea(not crazy good or bad) at least here's master of kimchi place so worthy

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our best dinner in Korea was at Sinbaengi Kimchi! The kimchi was unbelievably delicious, bursting with fresh, balanced flavors. The bean sprouts and rice soup were absolutely heavenly, and the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was the service — the staff treated our family with such kindness and warmth that we felt right at home. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Jeonju!

The white kimchi rice porridge is worth a Michelin star. This delicate porridge balances the sweet starch with the sour kimchi in a deep broth with egg. Great restraint in ingredients allows the simple rice and sprouts to shine.

They can make your bibimbap and banchans vegetarian or vegan upon request. However, it wasn't the best bibimbap we tried, you can find better in Jeonju.

You have not been to Jeonju if you have not tried Bibimbap. Put this into your must-eat-list when you come to Jeonju, and their bibimbap by far was the best i have had during my entire 10 days of Korea trip. We also ordered the tteok galbi served on the sizzling plate, it was truly amazing! Wish i could turn back time and go back there again! Highly recommended.

Went there on a Tuesday noon for early lunch. Try to be there before 12 as a line will start to form for waiting. You need to at least read Korean and understand it or use a translator as if there is no English menu. The food was super good and the kimchi was amazing! I do recommend the bibimbap for sure! And don’t forget to have some free coffee located near the cashier after you pay for your meal!

It was suggested by my hanok host after I asked him. The space was clean and pleasant. There were some robot waiters for the korean people, but the ladies were assisting with waiting for the couple of foreign customers there. Most importantly, the food (Jeonju bibimbap and side dishes) was excellent, only for ₩12,000 (less than €9).

The best bibimbap I had so far in Korea! Friendly staff and very flexible: they made one for my wife with cooked meat and fried egg instead of raw. They even have a robot-waitress! Highly recommend if you want to try an authentic bibimbap.

This place was recommended to me by a local resident for their traditional Jeonju Bibimbap. For someone who is familiar with korean food i recommend the raw beef bibimbap, but if you are not into raw beef go for their normal bibimbap. Its all in their sauce really, very fresh ingredients and a healthy meal to carry on your tours.

We had a group dinner for foreigners at this restaurant, which was picked precisely for the food experience. Jeolla is famous for its food and the variety of side dishes. The food was ok but it could have been better for the amount of money one has to pay per meniu. The staff was a bit tired and unfriendly since we were the last customers. Overall, I had expected more from a restaurant that is specialized in serving Hanjeongsic ( it is a Korean-style full-course meal characterized by the array of small banchan plates in varied colours).

Horrible. After looking at blogs and seeing posts about famous celebrities visiting, we were sorely disappointed with their food. For the money, the quality of the food and taste was way off.

Jeonju Zoo is the third-largest zoo in South Korea, following Seoul Land Zoo as the largest and Everland Zootopia as the second. Despite its scale, the zoo is not very well-known even among Koreans. The zoo itself is very affordable, offers plenty of parking spaces, and provides a comfortable atmosphere as the animals are housed in spacious enclosures. However, if asked whether Jeonju Zoo is a must-visit, it falls short in that regard, which is a notable downside.

Highly recommend! Overall it's an pretty good zoo. The price is super low as of writing 1300 Won per person plus 1000 won for parking. The zoo is actually pretty large! There are a pretty large variety of animals and small aquarium too! The zoo is also a pretty good park and has rides. Location is great right near downtown.

Nice place, cheap entrance fee, many animals, but if you go very hot time if sun is hot some animals hide and some place reflect the light because of glass i can’t see well. This place not too big so good to come with child and picnic, but the weekend too much people and no parking space. When i was there i saw some poor animals look not good, poor health i hope now they are good.

you can see tigers and lions very clear in short range via glass wall. about 1300won for entry fee for adult. kids are 400won. amusement are good for kids but some are not allow without adult like bumpercar, sky bike who under 130cm tall. 10000won for 7 times ride for anything for kids.

A good place to visit with kids, there had some rides inside the zoo. This is the only zoo in Jeonju and not too big, you can walk around to seeing animals also can picnics here. But cleanliness need to improve

I came here to watch Pansori performance. I didn’t expect Jeonju city has such a big performance hall. My favorite singer has performance only one day, but Jeonju city is operating Sori festival to 24th September. It will raining until tomorrow, but I hope they finish their festival well.

Been there once for Day6 concert. It was quite hard to reach and to get out from. If not mistaken, there’s only one bus number going there from Jeonju Bus Terminal with long interval. Taxi was also so hard to find even using KakaoTaxi (perhaps because at the time there were too many people looking for it). But as for a small scale concert venue, it was pretty great.

It was being fully renovated (8th March '25) but we couldn't find any information on that beforehand so we basically went here to see a pile of soil. You can go a little further into the park but the bridge is closed for a big part.

Beautiful place to watch the sunset, it's next to the uni district. Lots of food and sports court nearby. Definitely a spot not to miss.

This park is a lovely place to walk around. The main draw for me was the library in the middle of the pond. The library is gorgeous, built in a traditional hanok style with books focusing on Korea and Jeonju in particular. The library is currently open Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is a wonderful place to study or just take a quiet break.

A large park with a very relaxed atmosphere. It's interesting to see how the environment changes during the seasons. Has a nice walkway over the lake and a small waterfall. Great place to spend the day.

I have been there 2 times~ First, I went in may 2020 and there was a lot of construction…. But, we went there over the summer 2023 for the lotus blossoms at the end of July! Deokjin Park was beautiful! We visited the park three times. The view from the top is even more beautiful so search for “Cafe Hanol” if you are interested. The path around the park is well-maintained and very safe for everyone. Saw many people taking photos and enjoying their drinks. I also recommend taking a walk at sunset because the area lights up. Strongly recommend!

Beautiful and English friendly! I was here wayyy longer than intended because there was so much to see. There were quite a few people for a rainy day, but it was still peaceful and easy to find solace. The library is new (in '22) and it's a nice addition. Bring the fam, bring your frens or just enjoy yourself!

Very interesting how the theaters here have a lot of arcades and game machines to bring in the kiddos. This theater even features a board game room, which is pretty neat. Then right to the other side of the ticket office, is the Bodyfriend Lounge. Take that in for a bit before you accidentally misread it. This is where a couple of massage chairs are located, where you can pay for 10 minutes of a massage. Tons of movies, lots to watch too. Interesting thing for the film festival though, the entrance is where you enter from, BUT they open up the emergency exit when the movie is done playing to create a smooth one-way flow of people out the doors. Also, the layout of certain theaters in here, may be slightly different than what is show when you pre-order tickets. If you get the A7 seat, expecting one side to be open, you may find yourself enclosed by a railing, FYI.

Quite a large mainstream theater. Though it seems less lively than CGV. The towering complex has about the same amount of screens, it just takes longer either by riding escalators or waiting on an elevator. Given that CGV is nearby and offers better accomadtions and has a more intuitive design, it's probably better to go there instead.

It is delicious but since bibimbap is birthed in JeonJu…..i expected more. I have tasted better bimbimbap. We also later found out that it is expensive by local standards. Bec it only sells bimbimbap, we had to order 2 sets and were completely stuffed.

I came to the restaurant because the reviews were very high, as well as the restaurant is quite famous in this place. We arrived at lunch time, the shop did not have any instructions on how to go up to the shop. This place holds good memories for me and my husband. We took the tram to see the view. May be a bit tired but happy. There were both smiles and laughter, taking turns riding bicycles having fun.

The mains were simple, yet delicious. The side dishes were also very tasty, except the bean sprout soup or whatever it was. That didn't have much flavour, but everything else was great. My seafood pancake could have done with maybe another minute or so of cooking because some bits tasted a tiny bit undercooked and had that raw flour flavour. In total I paid 30,000 won. I want to go back to try the raw beef bibimbap. I left feeling full and satisfied.

I like this old joseon era school. Nice to stroll around, take in the serene atmosphere, and admire the old architecture and ancient trees. Makes a nice stop, after visiting the mural village and omokdae.

I learned something new! I had no idea how the soybean paste was made (traditionally) and it was as shocking as interesting. They have an exhibition focused on Korean food going on. I was there before but it was closed due to some show going on outside. It was great to be able to visit it this time.

Amazing food with lots of rich and interesting flavors. The main dish had a slightly earthy tasty and it paired well with the sauce provided (soy based with added peppers, sesame, and veggies mixed in; pictured next to the potato in the picture). The kimchi had a wonderful spice to it and it was also very different from other kimchi I've had around town (so far my favorite kimchi). On the same plate as the kimchi was a stringy green vegetable with a savory/salty profile that went well mixed in the clay pot. the root served on a small grill was unique in texture and taste: it popped not unlike a leafy herb or pepper (mint/basil) but still held a consistent earthy flavor closer to tumeric than a beet. The potato was perfect: gentle sweetness and a tinge of tangy and salty. The pepper was closer to a cucumber and it was served with a miso-tasting dip. The most interesting item was the clear noodle in an almost yogurt like purple-grey sauce. It was slightly tangy and sweet, and I could not put it down. The darker leaf reminded me of hoja santa, a very nice treat. The service and presentation were both terrific as well. We were assured that everything was all plant based/vegan/vegetarian unless meat or fish was specifically ordered. The staff member we talked to happen to be an English teacher and was willing to answer all of our food related questions.

I'm not sure why this place is well-known. Maybe uniqueness plus authenticity. Respect the ingredients from organic farms. However, it is simply too pricy, and I couldn't enjoy brown rice soup (누룽지) after the stone earthware (돌솥) because they don't serve you warm water and a lid - meaning they expect you to leave quickly.
