Inubosaki Lighthouse, a late 19th-century tower made of domestic bricks, stands as a symbol of sightseeing in Choshi. This chalky white Western-style lighthouse offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from its top, making it a must-see attraction. Designed by English architect Richard Henry Brunton, this historic and architectural monument has been designated as an Important Cultural Property and is one of only 16 in Japan.
Cash only at the ticket counter 😶 Climbing 99 steps up the stairs wasn't really challenging, but the wind was so strong that I almost dropped my phone from the balcony (and it's Nokia). I'm so honoured to have saved humanity once 😎 There's a cottage within the premise with a foghorn in place. Indeed, it sounds more like an air raid siren.
P. C — Google review
Nice view from the top and from around the lighthouse. There is a way to the rocky beach near the lighthouse, which is highly recommended.
Salman S — Google review
Beautiful place to see the pacific ocean, 99 steps climb needed if you want to get up of the lighthouse. Lots of people but I did not need to wait. There was a nice cafe, souvenir shop, some restaurants and a shack selling bbq seafood. They have 2 small museums to showcase the history of light house, how lighthouses work and various lighthouse across japan.
Ang C — Google review
Visiting, climbing, and taking photos in front of a lighthouse was one of my wishlists. And it came true at Inobusaki Lighthouse. The endless ocean, clear skies, a cool cafe, accompanied by delicious coffee and a slice of cake. This was a real healing and charming holiday.
Rose A — Google review
The place is very attractive. In order to climb to the top of the lighthouse, you need to use the stairs, that is, there is no elevator. At the top of the lighthouse there is a wonderful view of the ocean and the promenade. The only thing is a strong wind. Near the swing there is a cafe and a place for souvenirs. There is a miniature version of the customs officer with whom you can take a picture. On the 1st floor of the pendulum, there is a small museum that tells the story of its creation, there are models of ships.
Iryna V — Google review
Superb place to visit for a one day trip. Fees : 300 for adults, free for kids It’s a wonderful place to visit with rocky beach and a very small sandy beach. View is amazing . You need to climb around 106 reps to each ti the top of the light house, last few steps are very narrow. Food area near is good and reasonable, we ate at key cafe . Car parking is free. We went by Choshi line
Mugdha G — Google review
It’s very cooling up the lighthouse. It’s a nice view up there and I enjoyed the breeze. There’s no elevator up, so we have to climb 99 steps, which I feel was fine. The beach was nice too. We saw crabs and other creatures. Had fun exploring the beach.
Tawtan — Google review
Beautiful stop and great place to grab a beer after a long day of bike riding! It's a busy location though so expect a crowd. If you can find a bench or a soft spot on the ground you can take in the sights and the fresh ocean air. The lighthouse is a historic location and a great place to take some photos. Recommended stop for cyclists in the area.

Inubōsaki is a picturesque location that features a rugged headland with an 1874 lighthouse and windswept coastal trails. It's renowned for its stunning sunrise views. Aside from the lighthouse, there's also the Inubow Terasu Terrace which comprises of a family restaurant (Seaside Terrace), nice bakery (Ohana), local craft beer stall, and second-floor shops selling various local products like plates, cups, glasses, magnets, etc.
Nice location. Very beautiful You can see natural history of the earth through the sedimentary rock.

This is lighthouse at Cape Inubozaki is enchanting- it is a national heritage structure and the museum has all details on the operational part of the lighthouse since the beginning of the; views from the top of the lighthouse is mind blowing- you get a 360 degree view of the Pacific Ocean and also boasts of the first sunrise

Very relaxing area. I've been here three times this year. You can take a walk or sit by the shore. I think pets are allowed as well. It's ¥200-300 yen to go on the lighthouse to view. You have to go up narrow stairs, when I went up the lighthouse it was super windy and raining not like in the pictures. It was fun for me. No time limit after you first enter.
Jada M — Google review
You can climb the lighthouse. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and Choshi. It is a little scary because it is so high, but the view is beautiful. There is also an exhibition room.

Wosse 21 is a multifaceted destination that includes the Choshi Port Tower, offering visitors a stunning panoramic view of the Choshi Fishing Port and its surroundings. The tower's observation room provides an excellent vantage point to admire the Pacific Ocean, fishing boats, and the picturesque Tone River estuary. Adjacent to the tower is Wosse 21 Fish Market, where numerous fish shops compete for visitors' attention.
Not bad to buy some fish for souvenirs. Has plenty of parking slot and many motorcyclists were enjoying the scenery.

My wife and I stopped by for lunch and were impressed from start to finish. Located right by the fish market, it offers that unmistakable fresh-from-the-sea experience with a casual, local vibe. We ordered the kaisen-don, loaded with buttery tuna, shrimp, salmon, anago, and ikura over perfectly seasoned rice—each bite was fresh and flavorful. The fried oysters were crisp and juicy, complemented perfectly by tartar sauce and cabbage. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything arrived quickly. Excellent seafood, fair prices, and authentic atmosphere—exactly what you hope for at a market-side restaurant.

Here is the one of the most famous local fish market around Tokyo area. The location is vey good, and is very next to the port. So you can buy fresh Tuna, other local fish and shells. What I reccomend the most is, soy sources. You can buy some local SPECIAL versions. It will take approximately 2 hours' from central part of Tokyo. As it's a bit far from Tokyo area, one star minus.
T O — Google review
The seafood restaurant upstair (レストランうおっせ) is excellent. High quality, inexpensive and a sea view. It is in another small building right outside the seafood market. Those small restaurants inside the seafood market on ground floor are too expensive.
M F — Google review
A great fish market and souvenir shops to stop by on your way back to Tokyo after a weekend stay, pick up large chunks of tuna and other fish at great prices. They'll pack in styrofoam with ice for you, and even ship if you don't have a car.

Choshi Port Tower is a modern twin-towered glass building offering panoramic 360-degree views of the bustling fishing port. The tower also features an exhibition area. In the vicinity, Ishigami Sake Brewery, established in 1844, boasts two historic stone warehouses designated as tangible cultural properties. The brewery's signature junmai sake, Choshi no Homare, is renowned for its full-bodied flavor with a hint of spiciness.
I came here for the All Japan Tower's stamp rally. This was very far in general and I didn't know if I was going to commit. Once at the station, I had to take a taxi (just under 2000 yen) to get here and I walked to Motochoshi station (Choshi Electric railway). Anyways, greeted by friendly staff! 2 memorial stamps on the bottom floor. 88 anime locations stamp and multilayer stamp at the top. Gorgeous view on a nice day.

Believe or not, this is actually a nice sightseeing spot in the area. You can enjoy a 360° grandeur view from the area’s highest point, which is high enough to be awed especially around sunset time. The admission is just 420yen. What is pity are, though the staff are quite friendly and helpful, the opening hours are pretty limited and some lack of willingness for sightseeing business expansion. The entry cutoff at 5:00pm and get closed at 5:30 on my visit in January. There was no eatery open by the late afternoon even without a vending machine in the observatory, also, sorry to say the souvenir space on GF was rather mediocre, all while this unique shaped cute tower is standing as if being alone shiny but for waste. Maybe I should understand since there have been lots of reasons like being understaffed, budget issues or unsuccessful businesses history, putting aside bankrupt-free bureaucratic rigidity… but I will visit here again another time soon at peak hours on a holiday.

This is port tower and nice view point to see the port and see. Also you can see the city. I really liked it. It’s 57mt high. I used the binocular there and watched the birds flying over the sea. It was really amazing. For people who have been to Tokyo tower and skytree, this will be small. But you can watch once for the sea view. You can focus the ships

Enpuku-ji is a Buddhist temple located in Choshi, Japan. Founded by the monk Kukai in the ninth century, it is a popular destination for Buddhist pilgrimages. The temple features a splendid five-storied pagoda and offers nice views of the town and sky. Visitors can enter the main hall to pray and order goshuin, while also having the opportunity to see and touch the Kannon statue up close.
The weather was nice so I could take good pictures. The parking lot is huge.

Nice temple with a fantastic 5 storey pagoda. It takes 2-3 hrs by train from Tokyo. They have a beautiful Goshuin, Omikuji, amulets souvenirs etc. If you have time, excursions nearby: Tunnel of love (between Kannon/Motochoshi stations). Inubosaki lighthouse. (Translated by Google) A local told me that Choshi is synonymous with Kannon, so I visited for the first time. I've never seen so many ceiling paintings before. Temple ceilings are all unique, but you can lie down on the tatami mats and gaze upon them carefully. Feel free to immerse yourself in the temple's unique atmosphere. I'd like to say Kannon, but what was particularly great was the view of the Tone River from the main hall. I wasn't expecting to be able to see the Tone River and cityscape while admiring the five-story pagoda, so I was really impressed. Temples can be slippery in the rain, so be careful. There were a lot of mosquitoes, probably because of the ginkgo trees. I wish I'd taken some mosquito protection. Visitors may receive a limited number of gifts from the temple at the reception desk... If you've read this review, be sure to ask. Maybe your luck will skyrocket. I managed to complete my business trip safely. Attitude is important. That's why I'd like to visit local power spots whenever time allows. Thank you for all your help. Finally, I think first-time visitors may have trouble finding parking. There's a dedicated parking lot for the temple facing the street, so please park there and pay your respects. After worshiping, it's said that eating the white and black bean paste Imagawayaki (sweet bean syrup) at the back will bring you a sudden surge of luck. The toilet god is waiting for you when you open the door to the restroom. You'll be disappointed if you overthink it, so if you want to stop by the restroom, please do so. Choshi was apparently an isolated island long ago, and you can learn about its historical background, such as how it rose over the years. You can experience things you never even noticed in textbooks. There's apparently a bullet hole near the left foot, which is placed outside, but I couldn't find it. It seems that the temple was burned to the ground during the war. If you're feeling excited about visiting Iinuma Kannon, which still bears the scars of war, be sure to stop by. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and Inubo Lighthouse is only about a 15-minute drive away. I wonder when I'll be able to come back next time. (Translated by Google) I remember it opened in 1991 along with the adjacent tower. The facility is undeniably old, and it has the feel of a drive-in from the end of the Showa period of high economic growth rather than the Heisei period. On the second floor, there is only a staircase to the restaurant. It is clean, but it gives the impression of a dilapidated restaurant in a tourist spot. This time, I visited on a Saturday at the end of June to try the early plum sardines of "Choshi Meshi." (Apparently, the locals call them "Iriume Iwashi" rather than "Nyuubai"). The Asahi Shimbun had just reported a comment from a fishery official saying, "This year, we have landed more sardines than we have in several years, so please come to Choshi to try them." However, the sardine menu was sold out before 12 o'clock. If they had just said something like "I'm sorry you came all this way and were looking forward to it," it would have been a different impression, but they just said "We're done" in a cold manner (bitter smile). They had taken the trouble to put up posters and handwritten recommendations in front of the store, so what a shame... This lack of hospitality is a symbol of a declining city. The menu we all ordered instead was also a bit lacking. The fried prawns were stretched out and covered in batter. Only three pieces of deep-fried horse mackerel cost over 800 yen. They were limp and the color was like Tatsuta-age. Was it pre-fried? Only the fried horse mackerel nare-roe was unusual and reasonably tasty. The sashimi in the seafood bowl was a bit fishy, and the rice in the set meal was a bit dry and a bit scary. The miso soup had a clam flavor but almost no toppings (like the free miso soup from Matsu◯ before). My companion left the fried shrimp and put rice in the miso soup, making it into Nekomamma, and washed it down. Payment methods are cash and PayPay. Popular restaurants in the city and port area are difficult to go to because they are small, there are long lines, and there is no smoking area, so I have always used this restaurant when having lunch in Choshi because I could relax without waiting. However, this seems to be causing not only this restaurant and Uosse 21 (there are more vacant stores every time I visit...), but also the city of Choshi itself to become increasingly deserted as a tourist destination. (Gyokeikan has closed down, and Select Market's parking lot has moved away and the restaurants have closed.) Choshi is a city with a long history and plenty of things to see, but JR express trains have been cut down in frequency, and it's an hour away from the nearest highway interchange. I'd like to see it bounce back somehow, but if things continue like this, it feels like a vicious cycle.

(Translated by Google) This has been a popular restaurant for a long time. I've only just come here for the first time. The prices are reasonable, especially in this day and age. There are many good points if you look at the finer details. There are some things that are a bit questionable, but the soup bowl is excellent. The shellfish broth and seaweed are well-seasoned. The wasabi is great. The amberjack is very fresh. The yellowtail is even more delicious than it looks. The squid is sushi-quality. The herring roe is also good, giving it a New Year's feel. It's packed with a lot of ingredients. If you're in Choshi, be sure to give it a try. This restaurant is close to the fishing port, so you can eat a lot of seafood. They have a variety of menus, from rice bowls to set meals. I ordered a set meal that changes daily. The set meal has tuna, swordfish, amberjack, squid sashimi, fried sardines, and fried flounder as the main dishes. The sashimi and fried sardines are superb! It was very tasty! I thought I would bite into the fried flounder, but it was a complete failure. It was full of bones and it was a pain... But it was delicious! Anyway, it was a pain to get rid of the bones lol I also ordered fried namero. Fried namero is rare, and the staff recommended it, so I ordered it. It was a hit. Very tasty! The namero itself is soft, so frying it gave it a soft texture. I was disappointed with the flounder, but overall the taste was satisfying. Today, I ordered two bowls of rice, and the salmon roe and negitoro were delicious. There was no strong odor and they were very filling. The leeks were a little shriveled, which was a bit disappointing, but it was fine. I thought it would be quite a walk from the Port Tower, but it was actually quite close. The shrimp we got was nothing like the photo on the restaurant's sign. It was just regular boiled shrimp. The salmon roe was as small as flying fish roe. Or rather, I thought it was flying fish roe. It was just a little bit of tuna on top of the rice, and although we ordered hoping for something good from the photo, we were disappointed. Aren't they embarrassed to attract customers with a photo of such a lavish seafood dish? Ramen restaurant
Sakamoto is a long-standing and popular ramen shop known for its traditional dishes and nostalgic atmosphere. The store has been around for over 70 years, offering simple yet flavorful options like "Kake Ramen" and "Half Curry Rice." Despite its age, the place remains busy with a constant stream of customers, especially on weekends. The kelp-based soup with a hint of oil provides a refreshing flavor to the noodles, reminiscent of oden soup.
(Translated by Google) This is one of Choshi's oldest ramen shops, beloved even by my grandmother, who is over 80 years old. The exterior and interior of the shop have remained largely unchanged, further accentuating its Showa-era retro feel. The gyoza are quite reasonably priced at 300 yen for six (as of 2018), and are delicious, with crispy skin and a perfect texture. Their signature ramen may look like your average Shina soba noodle at first glance, but upon closer inspection, you'll see that the generous amount of soup poured into the bowl is so generous that surface tension prevents it from spilling. The flavor is a nostalgic seafood-infused ramen with a kelp broth. The noodles are standard medium-thin noodles with a good texture and firmness, and the pork slices are delicious. While the ramen isn't particularly distinctive, its simple flavor creates an indescribable deliciousness. The curry rice is a typical diner-style curry rice, with its striking bright yellow roux, reminiscent of the classic dining scenes seen in Showa-era dramas. The moment you put it in your mouth, the fragrant aroma of curry powder fills your nose. It has a rich, mellow consistency that Japanese people like, with a hint of spiciness. It has a completely different taste from the supermarket curry roux that the poster has tried, and the flavor and aroma are shocking. You can order it individually, but the most popular set menu is the most ordered, and even now, at 1,200 yen for ramen and half a curry (Set A), it is by far the best in terms of price and value. With such flavor and such a low price, it's no wonder that it is packed with customers at lunchtime. In Choshi, where you can immerse yourself in Showa-era nostalgia, only customers who have visited can appreciate the flavor and comfort of this good old-fashioned local Chinese restaurant in an atmosphere that makes you feel like you've traveled back in time. It seems this famous restaurant has been engraved in my mind, and I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Shichibei, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to INUBOW TERASU TERRACE. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Seafood donburi restaurant

Japanese restaurant
Nestled in the charming town of Choshi, Don-ya Shichibei is a delightful cafe that captures the essence of local cuisine with its warm, wood-paneled ambiance. This eatery specializes in blue-fish dishes, particularly tsuke-don—rice bowls topped with freshly caught fish from Choshi Port. The culinary magic happens when the fish is marinated in a secret salt sauce and served just before dipping it into soy sauce for an explosion of flavor.
I went there once, the food was so nice and fresh...

(Translated by Google) This restaurant specializes in pickled blue fish rice bowls, made with a rare blue fish even in the fishing town of Choshi. Their mackerel dishes are all exquisite, prepared with a patented salt sauce that reduces the fish's odor and brings out its flavor. Their specialty, the mackerel sushi roll, brings out the full umami of the mackerel, and its addictive thickness and texture are no wonder why it's been likened to the local mackerel sushi chiffon cake. Takeout is also available, so you can enjoy this exquisite mackerel dish at home. Not only does it contain high amounts of essential fatty acids (DHA) and EPA, which may also have numerous health and beauty benefits, including the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases, so it's more than just killing two birds with one stone. The pickled mackerel rice bowl is also recommended. The extremely fresh mackerel is well-fed and has a nice balance of fat and just the right amount of sweetness. For dessert, the Nagasaki castella cake served next door is also delicious. If there's sardines at Koumi, there's also mackerel at Shichibei, making this a renowned restaurant irresistible for lovers of blue fish. Limited-time menus are available depending on the season or event, and during the New Year you can even enjoy the "Sunrise Bowl" to celebrate the first sunrise of the year, a major event in Choshi. This is an incredibly luxurious dish, with tuna representing the sunrise on top of a marinated mackerel bowl. If you're looking for a slightly unusual local fish restaurant, be sure to check out Shichibei.

(Translated by Google) 2025/11/04 This restaurant was featured on Matsuko's Unknown World. Their pickled blue fish bowl is a popular choice, so I visited for the first time with my child on a weekday lunchtime. We entered the restaurant just after 11am without having to wait in line, and there were two other groups of customers ahead of us. I ordered the fatty tuna bowl set, and my child ordered the Kannon chirashi set. We also ordered two pieces of marinated mackerel nigiri sushi. The fatty tuna, which was served in about 15 minutes, was more lightly pickled than actually being pickled, and you could really taste the umami and fat of the fish. The Kannon chirashi had a simple flavor and included sashimi as well as freeze-dried tofu and simmered dried shiitake mushrooms. I was surprised to see that the tuna was shiny and fatty. Finally, they seemed to be recommending the castella shop two doors down, so they gave us a complimentary slice of castella (delicious), which was also delicious. The marinated mackerel nigiri was really delicious, and next time I'd like to try the marinated mackerel nigiri set meal! Oh, the waitress in the dining area had the vibe of a madam from a fishing town (lol). She wasn't a bad person, but don't expect her to treat me well. The sardine season was over, but the staff kindly informed me that they only have sardine pickles during the rainy season or winter. If you want to eat sardine pickled rice bowls or sashimi, I recommend checking in advance. This time I ordered the premium mackerel sushi and pickled rice bowl. The mackerel sushi had a refreshing vinegar flavor and you could really enjoy the taste of the mackerel. The mackerel might be a little fatty in the winter. Chōshi Station serves as the starting point for the Choshi Electric Railway, a charming train line that takes about 20 minutes to reach its final stop at Tokawa Station. The train runs hourly, offering the perfect opportunity to explore sightseeing spots and savor Choshi's local cuisine with an unlimited day ticket. This retro rail experience provides access to the smaller communities in this renowned fishing region, known for signature treats like 'nure-senbei'.

Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
The national reserve known as Hinged Cape, located within the Suigo Tsukuba Quasi-National Park and Choshi Geopark, is a magnificent site with a towering sea cliff. The area also features a pedestrian walkway at its base that offers visitors breathtaking sunset views of Mount Fuji. On sunny days, it's an excellent place to spend time observing the strata and playing with sand in the shallow sea. The reserve provides visitors with restroom facilities and free showers for added convenience.
Nice place to visit and walk through the path comfortably feeling the nature, though, I wouldn’t call it Dover in Japan, a kind of cheap PR naming, rather, that might discourage modern visitors. These are really the millefeuille rock cliffs proudly preserved in Japan. Take time and look closely, they are really nature’s wander and magnificent.

About 70% of the parking lot was full, but most people seemed to be heading to the beach, not Byobugaura. You can see the volcanic ash and the Kanto Loam layer up close. The Buddhist temple Shingonshu Hodarakusan Mangan Temple, although not extensive in size, possesses a picturesque charm. The primary structure exhibits an impressive level of detail, yet regrettably prohibits photography within its walls. However, from the upper level of this edifice, one can catch a glimpse of the Inubosaki Lighthouse. This sacred location serves as both a powerful spiritual site and offers an exceptional vantage point overlooking the sea and its neighboring lighthouse.

Impressive temple. Primary object of worship is Jūichimen Kannon-sama, represented by a large, standing statue in the main hall (hondō). However, Kōbō Daishi, who among other accomplishments during his lifetime is the founder of Shingon Buddhism, is also worshipped here, evidenced by recorded chanting of prayers to him that play throughout the temple complex. On either side of the hondō are two building wings, the left of which contains the delicately-carved, wooden statuary likeness of each of the 88 primary objects of worship in the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage; the right wing contains the same statuary, but for the Shikoku 33 Kannon pilgrimage and the Chichibu 34 Kannon temples pilgrimage. Main hall is quite large and very beautiful, and when I visited today (Saturday, 8-July, it was open to the public for worship.

INUBOW TERASU TERRACE is a modern facility located near the Inubosaki Lighthouse, designed to promote tourism and share local information about Choshi. It offers great views, a cafe, a brewery, and vendors selling local goods. The multi-floor coffee shop with floor-to-ceiling windows provides a bright and airy space to relax and recharge while enjoying the waterfront views.
Visited in September 2021 Went to Inubosaki Cape for the lighthouse, only to find it closed (I think it was under renovation?) and instead the time was spent chilling in this facility. It's a one-stop souvenir center akin to more upscale roadside rest area that doubles as restaurant, bakery, bar, yeah you name it. Most of the items sold are local produce, from vegetables, preserved seafood, to shoyu, senbei, and beer. It even has a nice semi-open air terrace on the second floor facing to the sea, fitted with not only seating area but also hammocks. Nice place to unwind when you happen to be in the area. One interesting thing I found is that the local beer turns out to be manufactured all the way in...Ishikawa Prefecture. Talk modern logistics!

Nestled in the heart of Choshi, Tokyo-ken is a beloved tonkatsu restaurant that has been delighting locals for decades. Perhaps because it was fried at a slightly higher temperature, the batter was quite crispy, but the center of the meat was perfectly fried, with a slight pink tinge, and was extremely soft. You can order a single item instead of a set meal, so you can enjoy something like tonkatsu and beer, but the rice and miso soup are also delicious, so I think the set meal is better value. The fluffy texture of the gyoza is also exquisite. (Translated by Google) This tonkatsu specialty restaurant is extremely famous in Choshi. When you pass through the noren curtain, your line of sight is immediately met by an L-shaped counter. It is usually full with a maximum of 12 people, and there is almost always a line at lunchtime. The menu is extremely simple, consisting solely of tonkatsu and shumai. To go into more detail, the tonkatsu set meal comes in three varieties: tonkatsu set meal, premium tonkatsu set meal, and fillet cutlet set meal, allowing you to choose what you feel like eating that day. The taste is, of course, incredibly delicious, and this is authentic tonkatsu made with the utmost care, with no compromises made not only in the quality of the meat but also in the frying method and preparation. Even while you wait, you can admire the owner's knife skills and practiced movements, so skillful that it feels like you are witnessing the lifestyle of a man who has truly mastered tonkatsu. At first glance, the owner is taciturn and gives off a grumpy, artisan-like air, but he and the friendly and kind proprietress seem to be honest and gentle people in reality. Not only the meat, but the freshly steamed rice and miso soup are also quite exquisite, and being able to eat such exquisite food at such reasonable prices is almost enviable for the locals. The shumai may seem out of place at first glance, but for a restaurant that specializes in meat, they are exquisitely delicious, and it's also fun to add another side dish to your tonkatsu set meal to expand your repertoire. The only drawback is that there is no parking, so you'll basically have to park on the street, but you won't mind as the restaurant's addictive quality will have you immersed in it with all your senses.

The restaurant Kimigahama Bay House offers a stunning and picturesque setting, delectable cuisine, and a warm and welcoming staff. It comes highly recommended for those seeking a memorable dining experience. Located at the lighthouse, it is suggested to take a short stroll to enjoy their exceptional food. While seafood might be predominant in this area, they also offer scrumptious Western dishes that are sure to satisfy any palate.

(Translated by Google) This is a restaurant with a warm atmosphere. You can park your car in the parking lot in front of the store, or you can park your car in the Inubosaki Lighthouse parking lot, which is just a short walk away. The main menu is doria, but they also have pilaf and pork bowls. We recommend the banana pizza, which is made using homemade craft, so the texture is similar to pie. Lunch costs about 1,500 yen, but I think it's worth stopping by once in a while while sightseeing. The taste is good and the atmosphere inside is nice, so it's the perfect way to relieve the fatigue of the long journey to Choshi. The ocean view seats are the best, so I think it's a good idea to drive there in the winter when it's relatively empty. I went there by car, and there seems to be a parking lot for several cars in front of the store, and a parking lot a little further away. When you enter the store, the right side is a space with glass on three sides, and you can see a wide view of the ocean, including the lighthouse of Inubosaki. Only one side of the sky on the left is glass, so there is not much of an open feeling. By the way, it seemed like there were more than 10 tables in total! I ordered a half-and-half lunch, the most popular mentaiko pasta, curry doria, and a cola as it included drinks. Half & Half is a 1500 yen lunch set. There was also a 650 yen melon shake that I was really drawn to, so I ordered it as a take-out and asked them to give it to me before paying. I think the service is good and responds well to these requests. The taste is not exquisite, but the location is great, and considering the price, it was delicious enough😋 This is a restaurant where you can relax and enjoy your meal while admiring the view. Soba noodle shop
On the last day of a four-day holiday, when all the nearby shops were closed, I stumbled upon Yamata, a quaint soba noodle shop. Despite being visited around 17:00, there was only one customer in the calm interior. The establishment consisted of counters and tables with seating available at various levels. Later on, I discovered that it is bustling during lunchtime.

(Translated by Google) This soba restaurant is located along the Choshi Electric Railway line, and is easily accessible, just a 7-8 minute walk from Inubosaki Station. Although it is a soba restaurant, it is an unusual place known for its flounder tempura bowl, and its flounder tempura set, which combines soba noodles and tempura in a single bowl, is by far its most popular dish. The extra-large flounder, delivered directly from Choshi Port, is served in a tempura bowl with a crispy batter, fluffy inside, and a slightly stronger flavor, which you can tell after just one bite...it's delicious! The soba noodles themselves are also firm and fragrant, and alternating them with the tempura bowl makes the rich flavor of the flounder tempura and the refreshing taste of the soba addictive. Yamata's soba and tempura bowl set is just the best! The bento box is a special type in which the soba noodles and tempura bowl are combined, allowing you to enjoy both in one bowl, and is reasonably priced considering its volume. The restaurant's clientele ranges from tourists to locals, and it's often full at lunchtime. On the other hand, there are mixed reviews about the customer service. The parking lot is large, and you can use both the parking lot next to the restaurant and the second parking lot across the street. Prices have gone up slightly recently due to rising prices, but it still seems to offer pretty good value for money. If I have the opportunity, I'd like to visit again and try other dishes. It is said that the rituals have been passed down by a single family for nearly 900 years. The grounds have apparently shrunk, but they are still quite large. The main area is the worship hall, but there is also an inner shrine and a main shrine. Near the inner shrine is a monument marking the site of Saint Shinran's sacred grounds. Prince Fushiminomiya Sada Narushinno (1858-1923) is said to have always visited the shrine when staying at his villa in Choshi. It is said that when the ancestral deity of the Imperial family descended from heaven to this land, Sarutahiko Okami led the way. The main shrine building was constructed in the second year of the Daido era (807), and Minamoto no Yoriyoshi donated a sacred field during the Kōhei era (1058-1065). The shrine remained a devout religious center for samurai even after the Kamakura period, and it is said that Minamoto no Yoritomo also made a donation. Ashikaga Haruuji donated a gold seal, which still exists today. In 1566 (Eiroku 9), the shrine building was burned down in a battle between the Kaijo clan and the Awa Masaki clan, and was rebuilt during the Genki era, but burned down again in 1573 (Tensho 1), and rebuilt the following year in 1574 (Tensho 2), with the current main hall being rebuilt in 1680 (Enpo 8). Furthermore, in 1591 (Tensho 19), Tokugawa Ieyasu donated 30 koku of red seal land. The Shikinen Taisai Shinkosai festival is held in the year of the monkey (every 60 years). Sakuraicho Park is a spacious park with various play equipment such as swings, complex play structures, and stone slides. It also features a large lawn area and adult health equipment. The park offers a parking lot and hand washing area, but the parking space is narrow. Visitors can enjoy cycling and observe people walking along the river. However, it's important to be cautious of bees when looking for insects in the park.

(Translated by Google) I knew there was a parking lot, but the entrance was difficult to find so I passed by it once. I saw another car parked there and realized it was here. Will it be possible to park about 20 cars? It was surprisingly spacious. From the road side, the playground area is almost invisible due to the trees. I think it's a hidden gem that you can only find if you know it. I went with my 3 year old and 1 year old, and there was some play equipment that was a bit difficult. Still, it seemed like they had a lot of fun relaxing in the large park. Approximately 5 years old to elementary school students can play all of them. There are also several benches, so you can take a break. There is a supermarket called Marutomo that is popular on Instagram nearby, so we recommend buying lunch boxes and snacks before heading out! Kawagishi Park is located near the famous Choshi fishing port, right by the estuary of the Tone River. It offers a serene atmosphere with picturesque views of the Choshi Ohashi Bridge and the expansive Tone River. The park is an ideal spot for enjoying fresh sea air and beautiful scenery, especially during the annual fireworks display in early August. Despite its proximity to Choshi Station, it remains relatively uncrowded even on weekends.
The park is immediately adjacent to the estuary of the Tone-river, closest to the famous Choshi fishing port. Visitors can enjoy the fresh sea air and beautiful picturesque scenery. However the point is that this place is good spot for fire works viewing taking place in early August every year.

The Herb Garden Pocket, a frequently spotlighted venue in the media, offers off-campus learning opportunities. Many individuals have visited this facility during their elementary school days to enrich their knowledge. While time constraints prevented some from exploring the foliage plants and merchandise, they nevertheless enjoyed a flavorful lunch consisting of herbal tea and oregano pilaf. The aromatic spices used in these dishes enhanced the overall taste, resulting in a delicious experience.
(Translated by Google) Pets are allowed here, and there is a lavender field on the premises, as well as a cafe and shop, as well as a tree house and a dog run. It's an herb garden, and the great thing about it is that there's no admission fee. Many kinds of flowers were blooming in the large garden, and they were also for sale. The shop also sells many herb-related goods such as herbs, flower seeds and seedlings, flower jams, lotions, and seasonings, so you can enjoy them. Local vegetables were also on sale that day, and they were cheap, like 5 green onions for 100 yen and 4 corn for 100 yen, so I bought green onions and tomatoes. After enjoying the scent of herbs in the park, it was time for lunch. I entered the terrace seat with a handmade feel using a pet cart and immediately checked the menu. There are many types such as pasta, omelet rice, pizza, pilaf, and curry. I chose the Mangetsu Omelet Rice (850 yen including tax), which is said to be the most popular. My companion ordered cold tomato and basil pasta (880 yen including tax). The A set comes with a salad and a drink for 380 yen, and the B set comes with a drink and dessert for 580 yen, so I would like to order the A set. Drinks arrived first. For drinks, I ordered jasmine tea and my companion ordered Hirameki tea, but it seemed like they used herbs grown in the garden, so we soaked the herbal tea in warm water and put it in a cold ice cup to make iced tea. I did. Full moon omelet rice is a creamy egg with herbs topped with herb sauce. Enjoy the aroma and flavor of parsley, basil, and oregano, and enjoy the omelette rice that can only be eaten here. And the tomato and basil cold pasta that I went with was a cold pasta with basil and parsley mixed in on a perfectly chilled glass plate. This is just delicious. The tomatoes were so sweet and delicious that I asked the staff later, and she said that the tomatoes were grown by a woman in the neighborhood and were very popular. It was delicious and I ate it all, thank you for the meal. There is a reservation website, but it seems like you can do it without a reservation. I knew in advance that you could pick lavender (20 stalks for 300 yen), so I walked around the garden to check the condition of the lavender. I imagined it to be a lavender field like a lavender garden, but it was different. You pay in the store, are given scissors and a stick to guide the length, and you can pick 20 stalks from wherever you like. Of course, there was a lot of lavender that was out of season depending on the type and sunlight, so it was hard to choose 20 stalks. But 20 stalks for 300 yen is very reasonable! Order tea in the store, choose a terrace seat and wait on the terrace. You can also enjoy it in the store. (It looked like you could sit directly on the terrace and order, but it seemed a bit casual about that. Is it okay to do either?) The whole place felt a bit chaotic, but I was surprised to find myself feeling relaxed and having a good time while sipping tea and feeling the breeze on the terrace. I'd like to try dining there next time I have a chance to be in the area. Train station
Inubo Station is a must-visit stop on your journey along the Choshi Electric Railway, serving as the gateway to the stunning Inubosaki Lighthouse. This iconic lighthouse, designed by English architect Richard Henry Brunton in 1874, stands proudly at Cape Inubo—the easternmost point of Kanto—offering breathtaking coastal views that are hard to match in the Tokyo area. The station itself is charming and nostalgic, making your trip feel like a delightful step back in time.

Visited in September 2021 I reckon most of the revenue of Choshi Electric Railway comes through the ridership of tourists to this station, which is in the vicinity of main attraction of Choshi area, namely Inubosaki Lighthouse. So much so that the company itself took a beating during the Corona Lockdown and almost folded up if not due to extensive crowdfunding efforts. The campaign itself took an inspiration from sleeper hit movie "One Cut of The Dead" (カメラを止めるな). The station building is very unique, the architect seemed to take a note from Mediterranean-style architecture. There is an arc wall along the platform all the way to the station courtyard. Since it's the most touristic station in the network, the souvenir shop was very well-stocked, one might buy local senbei (nure senbei) here. Heard that the second floor is open for exhibition, but I didn't go there because I had to take the once-an-hour train back to the town.

If you find yourself in Choshi, "Around the Corner" is a must-visit spot for burger enthusiasts. This charming eatery offers some of the best burgers in Chiba, rivaling even those found in America. The ingredients are fresh and expertly prepared, making each bite a delight. While the fries are tasty, they could be more generous in portion size.
Great destination if you find yourself out in Choshi. Myself and a handful of cyclists made a ride out here from the west side of Tokyo. This is a welcome refueling where the burgers were prepared perfectly and the ingredients were all fresh. The man running the restaurant handled our party of six well and he was incredibly friendly. The food was excellent and the I recommend pairing an Arnold Palmer with one of the Wagyu cheeseburgers. The atmosphere had a bit of California flair, which was welcome to our table of Americans.

A little expensive but honestly fully worth it. Best burgers in chiba hands down, and can give American burgers a run for their money. Fries are also great, but unfortunately the amount that comes with the burger is a bit small. Only qualms is the smaller size of the shop, as it can't accommodate too many people, maybe around 10 or 12 ish inside and 4 or so outside. But the food is so good that I'll still give it a solid 5/5. If you're in the area be sure to check it out.

A bit pricier than your Hamazushi or sushi roll but it’s worth it. Servings are large and fresh. You might have to wait a little though as it’s a popular sushi restaurant.

Just a year ago, I went to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant with a friend during my last stay in Tokyo. Finally, I enjoyed the best sushi.
Iwa H — Google review
Fresh conveyor belt sushi at reasonable price.
Danny Y — Google review
A bit expensive, but food is really fresh and tasty.
Rıdvan T — Google review
Great popular listen sushi spot located on the coast. Great miso soup with shrimp and quality fresh sushi. A must stop off during your visit to the coast.

Nice restaurant down the road from the crowded Choshi lighthouse. The food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are friendly and courteous. I would recommend dining there instead of in the lighthouse vicinity.

Seafood restaurant
Japanese restaurant
Ichiyamaikesu is a relaxed eatery situated near the Pacific harbor, featuring delectable seafood dishes with a focus on sashimi and Japanese spiny lobster. The menu boasts mouthwatering options like lobster tempura that are sure to leave diners extremely satisfied. With generous portions of lobster priced around 2000 yen, customers can expect value for their money. The restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance, complete with both counter seats and Japanese-style tables where patrons must remove their shoes.
Ichiyama Ikesu is a traditional Japanese culinary establishment, typically associated with seafood dining. The word "ikesu" refers to a live fish tank, often found in such restaurants, where fresh seafood is kept until it is ready to be prepared and served. This practice ensures that the seafood is as fresh as possible, a hallmark of Japanese cuisine. Located in various regions of Japan, particularly in coastal areas, Ichiyama Ikesu establishments are known for offering a unique dining experience where customers can choose their seafood directly from the tanks. The chosen seafood is then skillfully prepared by chefs, often in traditional styles such as sashimi, sushi, or grilled dishes. This process not only guarantees the freshness of the meal but also allows diners to appreciate the beauty and vibrancy of the ingredients before they are transformed into culinary art. The name 一山 (Ichiyama) suggests that this particular ikesu might be associated with a specific location or family name, possibly indicating a well-established restaurant or chain known for its high-quality seafood and dedication to tradition. Dining at an ichiyama ikesu is often seen as a cultural experience, where the connection between the diner, the chef, and the natural bounty of the sea is celebrated.

Mouthwatering seafood! I had the lobster tempura and I was extremely satisfied. Volume is pretty good. For around 2000 yen, I got a hefty serving of lobster. Good store ambiance, with counter seats as well as tables. The tables are Japanese-style, so you have to take off your shoes. The store also faces the ocean so you get a pretty view while you eat.

The atmosphere here is wonderful. You get to sit in a traditional Japanese environment by the sea. However, this place is definitely not foreigner friendly! You have to write your order on a piece of paper in Japanese otherwise you won’t get served. That said, if you get the 3500 yen set, you do get an immense amount of food, however the food isn’t as fresh as I hoped it would be.

Nice atmosphere. Good food, but a little expensive. Also the rice in the tendon was too soft.

So in love this place, I went for lunch. Great Seafood , Great view , Reasonable price 👍🏻

Awesome seafood restaurant located right on the beach. The fish is the freshest you could ask for, often swimming around in large indoor ponds minutes before you order it.

Syokudo and Teishoku restaurant
After hearing about it from a local, we decided to visit the beautiful Miharashi restaurant. Known for its popular set meals and frequented by locals and fishermen, this establishment offers a normal yet reasonably priced menu. We were particularly recommended to try their Miharashi set meal, which we immediately ordered. The shop also serves fried shrimp, which was incredibly tasty. The overall ambiance of the dining room was pleasing, leaving us with a desire to return in the future.
Amazing local place for fresh seafood and kind staff. The sashimi was good but the fried items were amazing. Definitely one of the better places I have been to in the area.

(Translated by Google) I went on a weekday. It's crowded during lunchtime, but the rotation is fast. Yellowtail sashimi set meal, red sea bream sashimi set meal The portions are just right, fresh sashimi, and freshly fried shrimp! No complaints The price is also very nice in this day and age. The store was clean and customer service was quick, and I was very satisfied. I didn't know where to park and there was a lot of parking on the street.

(Translated by Google) This is a set meal restaurant that you must visit when you go to Choshi. It is a restaurant located on the seaside of Togawa, and it is a popular restaurant that sometimes has a line at lunchtime because fishermen and locals visit. ⁡ The Miharashi set meal is the most popular menu item✨It comes with a sashimi platter, fried food, small side dishes, rice, and miso soup. My personal recommendation is champon! I always have a hard time deciding whether to eat the Miharashi set meal or the champon~ ⁡ Because it is located near the sea, the sashimi is extremely fresh and really delicious! If you go with a group, you might want to add champon to the Miharashi set meal with sashimi or the daily sashimi set meal~ ⁡ ・Champon (¥850) When you hear champon, you might imagine it to be salty, but the champon at this restaurant has a sweet soup based on soy sauce. The thick sauce makes it soft and chewy, and it's also full of vegetables and other ingredients, so it's very filling! ⁡ The noodles are medium-thick and chewy, and they mix well with the soup. Once you start eating, you can't stop... I really love the champon here~ ⁡ Next time I go, I'll try the Miharashi set meal! If you have a day trip or drive to Choshi, please stop by☺️ ⁡ #ShokudokoroMiharashi @Choshi ◾️Types: Set meals, ramen ◾️Price: ¥1,000-¥2,000 ◾️Closed: Tuesdays ◾️Opening hours: 11:00- (closes when sold out) ◾️Tabelog: 3.16 (Original)

(Translated by Google) A set meal restaurant located in Tokawa Fishing Port. It's reasonably priced and seems to cater more to locals than tourists. So, as a tourist like me, I was a little disappointed when expecting something "unique to Choshi (Tokawa Port)!" The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant wasn't bad at all, though.

(Translated by Google) It seems to be a restaurant that locals often go to. You can get a set meal for around 1,100 yen. I ordered a simmered set meal, The braised fish changes daily. If you have a fish that you don't like, please ask the store staff. If you ask, they will tell you. Today it was braised swordfish. The broth was moderately sweet and delicious. The sashimi is also fresh and delicious. In addition to set meals, the menu includes curry and Apparently they also have Champon. The atmosphere of the shop is calm and you can spend a relaxing time. The sea is right in front of you. There is a space in front of the store, so you can park your car there, but if it's full and you can't park, According to the locals, it's okay to park on the road, but there are no guarantees, so it's best to park at your own risk. It seems like there will be irregular holidays. Just to be sure, check before going Looks good.
