Inubosaki Lighthouse, a late 19th-century tower made of domestic bricks, stands as a symbol of sightseeing in Choshi. This chalky white Western-style lighthouse offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from its top, making it a must-see attraction. Designed by English architect Richard Henry Brunton, this historic and architectural monument has been designated as an Important Cultural Property and is one of only 16 in Japan.
Cash only at the ticket counter 😶 Climbing 99 steps up the stairs wasn't really challenging, but the wind was so strong that I almost dropped my phone from the balcony (and it's Nokia). I'm so honoured to have saved humanity once 😎 There's a cottage within the premise with a foghorn in place. Indeed, it sounds more like an air raid siren.
P. C — Google review
Nice view from the top and from around the lighthouse. There is a way to the rocky beach near the lighthouse, which is highly recommended.
Salman S — Google review
Beautiful place to see the pacific ocean, 99 steps climb needed if you want to get up of the lighthouse. Lots of people but I did not need to wait. There was a nice cafe, souvenir shop, some restaurants and a shack selling bbq seafood. They have 2 small museums to showcase the history of light house, how lighthouses work and various lighthouse across japan.
Ang C — Google review
Visiting, climbing, and taking photos in front of a lighthouse was one of my wishlists. And it came true at Inobusaki Lighthouse. The endless ocean, clear skies, a cool cafe, accompanied by delicious coffee and a slice of cake. This was a real healing and charming holiday.
Rose A — Google review
Popular with locals, lined with shops. It's definitely something to look for if you're in the region and you love lighthouses. Be prepared for rain if it's the season for it.
Jy L — Google review
The place is very attractive. In order to climb to the top of the lighthouse, you need to use the stairs, that is, there is no elevator. At the top of the lighthouse there is a wonderful view of the ocean and the promenade. The only thing is a strong wind. Near the swing there is a cafe and a place for souvenirs. There is a miniature version of the customs officer with whom you can take a picture. On the 1st floor of the pendulum, there is a small museum that tells the story of its creation, there are models of ships.
Iryna V — Google review
Superb place to visit for a one day trip. Fees : 300 for adults, free for kids It’s a wonderful place to visit with rocky beach and a very small sandy beach. View is amazing . You need to climb around 106 reps to each ti the top of the light house, last few steps are very narrow. Food area near is good and reasonable, we ate at key cafe . Car parking is free. We went by Choshi line
Mugdha G — Google review
It’s very cooling up the lighthouse. It’s a nice view up there and I enjoyed the breeze. There’s no elevator up, so we have to climb 99 steps, which I feel was fine. The beach was nice too. We saw crabs and other creatures. Had fun exploring the beach.

Choshi Port Tower is a modern twin-towered glass building offering panoramic 360-degree views of the bustling fishing port. The tower also features an exhibition area. In the vicinity, Ishigami Sake Brewery, established in 1844, boasts two historic stone warehouses designated as tangible cultural properties. The brewery's signature junmai sake, Choshi no Homare, is renowned for its full-bodied flavor with a hint of spiciness.
I came here for the All Japan Tower's stamp rally. This was very far in general and I didn't know if I was going to commit. Once at the station, I had to take a taxi (just under 2000 yen) to get here and I walked to Motochoshi station (Choshi Electric railway). Anyways, greeted by friendly staff! 2 memorial stamps on the bottom floor. 88 anime locations stamp and multilayer stamp at the top. Gorgeous view on a nice day.
Roger A — Google review
Believe or not, this is actually a nice sightseeing spot in the area. You can enjoy a 360° grandeur view from the area’s highest point, which is high enough to be awed especially around sunset time. The admission is just 420yen. What is pity are, though the staff are quite friendly and helpful, the opening hours are pretty limited and some lack of willingness for sightseeing business expansion. The entry cutoff at 5:00pm and get closed at 5:30 on my visit in January. There was no eatery open by the late afternoon even without a vending machine in the observatory, also, sorry to say the souvenir space on GF was rather mediocre, all while this unique shaped cute tower is standing as if being alone shiny but for waste. Maybe I should understand since there have been lots of reasons like being understaffed, budget issues or unsuccessful businesses history, putting aside bankrupt-free bureaucratic rigidity… but I will visit here again another time soon at peak hours on a holiday.
Xiro ( — Google review
Night visiting is so fantastic. But, if you access here by car, you have to pay attention narrow way in the suburb area for driving.

Very nice tower for the stamp book.
Chris S — Google review
I've heard the view from the top is great but sadly didn't have time to go inside. This was a stop on a cycling tour so we were moving fast. Great photo opportunity though and worth a stop if you have a bit more time.
Cory S — Google review
This is port tower and nice view point to see the port and see. Also you can see the city. I really liked it. It’s 57mt high. I used the binocular there and watched the birds flying over the sea. It was really amazing. For people who have been to Tokyo tower and skytree, this will be small. But you can watch once for the sea view. You can focus the ships
Sathiya J — Google review
It is a bit to get here but if you go on a nice day, the view of the surrounding area is great.

Train station
Chōshi Station serves as the starting point for the Choshi Electric Railway, a charming train line that takes about 20 minutes to reach its final stop at Tokawa Station. The train runs hourly, offering the perfect opportunity to explore sightseeing spots and savor Choshi's local cuisine with an unlimited day ticket. This retro rail experience provides access to the smaller communities in this renowned fishing region, known for signature treats like 'nure-senbei'.
Visited this station for the first time to ride the Choshi railway. It's a medium sized station in a rural town. The platform of Choshi railway is at the end of platform 2 and 3. It is a bit quiet here compared to the crowd of Tokyo
Arditya L — Google review
A medium sized station with a bit of flare to tourists. Staff is friendly. Check times for train!
Roger A — Google review
If you want to ride this local train, you can ask to a conductor inside of a train to buy 1day ticket for free ride since they do not have any ticket office inside of the Choshi station.

Chikyū-no-marukumieru-oka tenbōkan, also known as the 'Hill where you can see the Earth is round,' is an observation deck located on Atagoyama Hill, offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. On clear days, visitors can marvel at distant sights such as Mount Fuji and Mount Tsukuba.
The Earth is really round. Trust me 😉

Here is an observation deck where you can see the slightly round sea level horizon. Thus you can recogmize the earth is round. The entrance fee is about 400 yen per adult person. In my view, it is not worth the price.

Inubo Station is a must-visit stop on your journey along the Choshi Electric Railway, serving as the gateway to the stunning Inubosaki Lighthouse. This iconic lighthouse, designed by English architect Richard Henry Brunton in 1874, stands proudly at Cape Inubo—the easternmost point of Kanto—offering breathtaking coastal views that are hard to match in the Tokyo area. The station itself is charming and nostalgic, making your trip feel like a delightful step back in time.
A manned and unique train station with an arc facade outside of it. Worth a visit as there's a souvenir shop here plus a good place to spot the chosai trains.
Rtexal T — Google review
Inubo Station snack shop but forgot take photo souvenir shop.
Vincent T — Google review
Visited in September 2021 I reckon most of the revenue of Choshi Electric Railway comes through the ridership of tourists to this station, which is in the vicinity of main attraction of Choshi area, namely Inubosaki Lighthouse. So much so that the company itself took a beating during the Corona Lockdown and almost folded up if not due to extensive crowdfunding efforts. The campaign itself took an inspiration from sleeper hit movie "One Cut of The Dead" (カメラを止めるな). The station building is very unique, the architect seemed to take a note from Mediterranean-style architecture. There is an arc wall along the platform all the way to the station courtyard. Since it's the most touristic station in the network, the souvenir shop was very well-stocked, one might buy local senbei (nure senbei) here. Heard that the second floor is open for exhibition, but I didn't go there because I had to take the once-an-hour train back to the town.
Lontongstroong — Google review
Accidentally went here during my first trip on the Choshi railway line. I left my bag at Tokawa station, the kind conductor lady asked me to get help from Inuboh station. The station staff's friend drove me to Tokawa station to retrieve my bag. They're so kind and helpful, even when I tried to communicate with broken Japanese. They have a souvenir shop, I love their nuresenbei. It's so fulfilling and tasty😋
Arditya L — Google review
Very friendly staff at the souvenir rice cracker shop. Lovely meeting all of you. Thank you for the gifts!
BBQ R — Google review
Very cool small station. Has a souvenir shop with some very good rice crackers and local beers. Station staff and shop staff helpful and friendly. Easy to walk to the local lighthouse.
Daniel S — Google review
I especially liked the light house and this station is the main local transport . I feel lucky to visit this place. Its really beautiful.

Among with other stations, it’s a major station that has the souvenir shop and waiting space. They also have an exhibition space (may need to pay additional fee to enter it) on 2nd floor.

Byobugaura Bay, nestled in Choshi City within Chiba Prefecture, is a stunning coastal gem that stretches approximately 10 kilometers from Naarai Town to Cape Gyobu. Known as the "Dover of the East," its impressive cliffs rise about 50 meters above sea level and offer breathtaking views reminiscent of England's iconic White Cliffs of Dover.
beautiful scenery you can also ride a boat for dolphins and whales sightseeing .
Missa N — Google review
(Translated by Google) If you want to see the cliffs of Byobugaura from the sea side, you can get a good view of the whole thing by walking along the promenade from the Choshi Marina parking lot. (Visited on January 2nd) We walked from the parking lot to the end of the promenade and looked around, which took about an hour. You can take a closer look. The cliffs, known as the ``Dover of the East,'' are an overwhelming sight that makes you feel that people's lives are no big deal. However, there is nothing other than this cliff. There is one toilet. There's no souvenir shop, so it's lonely. If you go, would you recommend either sunrise or sunset? Summer might be different again. Well, it's free, so it might be a good idea to visit once on a sightseeing trip. Not bad to buy some fish for souvenirs. Has plenty of parking slot and many motorcyclists were enjoying the scenery.

My wife and I stopped by for lunch and were impressed from start to finish. Located right by the fish market, it offers that unmistakable fresh-from-the-sea experience with a casual, local vibe. We ordered the kaisen-don, loaded with buttery tuna, shrimp, salmon, anago, and ikura over perfectly seasoned rice—each bite was fresh and flavorful. The fried oysters were crisp and juicy, complemented perfectly by tartar sauce and cabbage. Service was friendly and efficient, and everything arrived quickly. Excellent seafood, fair prices, and authentic atmosphere—exactly what you hope for at a market-side restaurant.

Here is the one of the most famous local fish market around Tokyo area. The location is vey good, and is very next to the port. So you can buy fresh Tuna, other local fish and shells. What I reccomend the most is, soy sources. You can buy some local SPECIAL versions. It will take approximately 2 hours' from central part of Tokyo. As it's a bit far from Tokyo area, one star minus.
T O — Google review
The seafood restaurant upstair (レストランうおっせ) is excellent. High quality, inexpensive and a sea view. It is in another small building right outside the seafood market. Those small restaurants inside the seafood market on ground floor are too expensive.

With the advancement of soy sauce technology, China's brewing methods have been continuously evolving. Japan, on the other hand, has inherited and enhanced traditional brewing techniques to transform soy sauce into a cultural symbol. Consequently, 'Japanese soy sauce' has emerged as an iconic representation of Oriental soy sauce. The Yamasa Soy Sauce Factory Tours offer a unique opportunity to explore this world-renowned facility.

There were still some covid restrictions in place when we visited so we were unable to do the full tour. Instead there was a multimedia presentation about the history and manufacturing processes, which was informative and enjoyable. We were each given a small bottle of soy sauce as souvenirs. The shop had a good selection of gifts and a range of soy sauce. Sadly no gluten-free soy sauce though.

Enpuku-ji is a Buddhist temple located in Choshi, Japan. Founded by the monk Kukai in the ninth century, it is a popular destination for Buddhist pilgrimages. The temple features a splendid five-storied pagoda and offers nice views of the town and sky. Visitors can enter the main hall to pray and order goshuin, while also having the opportunity to see and touch the Kannon statue up close.
The weather was nice so I could take good pictures. The parking lot is huge.

Nice temple with a fantastic 5 storey pagoda. It takes 2-3 hrs by train from Tokyo. They have a beautiful Goshuin, Omikuji, amulets souvenirs etc. If you have time, excursions nearby: Tunnel of love (between Kannon/Motochoshi stations). Inubosaki lighthouse. Open onsen (Rotenburo) facing the ocean in the same area.

(Translated by Google) I visited the temple known as "Iinuma Kannon." It's easily accessible from the station, so it's easy to visit. The main hall houses an eleven-faced Kannon statue, and the quiet, calming atmosphere allowed me to pray with a sense of peace. There are regular goshuin stamps available, but the "hand-written" goshuin stamps are especially handwritten by calligraphers and are limited in quantity, so it's recommended to check in advance. The grounds are clean, and there is a well-equipped chozuya (purification fountain), so you can spend your time leisurely while observing proper worship etiquette.

INUBOW TERASU TERRACE is a modern facility located near the Inubosaki Lighthouse, designed to promote tourism and share local information about Choshi. It offers great views, a cafe, a brewery, and vendors selling local goods. The multi-floor coffee shop with floor-to-ceiling windows provides a bright and airy space to relax and recharge while enjoying the waterfront views.
Visited in September 2021 Went to Inubosaki Cape for the lighthouse, only to find it closed (I think it was under renovation?) and instead the time was spent chilling in this facility. It's a one-stop souvenir center akin to more upscale roadside rest area that doubles as restaurant, bakery, bar, yeah you name it. Most of the items sold are local produce, from vegetables, preserved seafood, to shoyu, senbei, and beer. It even has a nice semi-open air terrace on the second floor facing to the sea, fitted with not only seating area but also hammocks. Nice place to unwind when you happen to be in the area. One interesting thing I found is that the local beer turns out to be manufactured all the way in...Ishikawa Prefecture. Talk modern logistics!

Very beautiful view of the ocean, you can go up Into the lighthouse tower for 300yen . The gift shop is really nice too. Downstairs there is a local market and one of my favorite bakerys. Also a drink shop. Very peaceful

A very nice shopping / tourist centre. There are local veggies, various sweet and savoury preserves, a good bakery, boxed sweets, etc. The cafe had vegetarian Japanese-style curry, which almost made us weep with happiness. There are comfortable nets/hammocks on hang out in on the second floor, with a view of the ocean. The Japanese crafts section is pretty decent. The only tacky part were the ocean-themed souvenirs hehe.

The Buddhist temple Shingonshu Hodarakusan Mangan Temple, although not extensive in size, possesses a picturesque charm. The primary structure exhibits an impressive level of detail, yet regrettably prohibits photography within its walls. However, from the upper level of this edifice, one can catch a glimpse of the Inubosaki Lighthouse. This sacred location serves as both a powerful spiritual site and offers an exceptional vantage point overlooking the sea and its neighboring lighthouse.
Beautiful temple to visit, pleasant surprise!

Impressive temple. Primary object of worship is Jūichimen Kannon-sama, represented by a large, standing statue in the main hall (hondō). However, Kōbō Daishi, who among other accomplishments during his lifetime is the founder of Shingon Buddhism, is also worshipped here, evidenced by recorded chanting of prayers to him that play throughout the temple complex. On either side of the hondō are two building wings, the left of which contains the delicately-carved, wooden statuary likeness of each of the 88 primary objects of worship in the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage; the right wing contains the same statuary, but for the Shikoku 33 Kannon pilgrimage and the Chichibu 34 Kannon temples pilgrimage. Main hall is quite large and very beautiful, and when I visited today (Saturday, 8-July, it was open to the public for worship.

Kawagishi Park is located near the famous Choshi fishing port, right by the estuary of the Tone River. It offers a serene atmosphere with picturesque views of the Choshi Ohashi Bridge and the expansive Tone River. The park is an ideal spot for enjoying fresh sea air and beautiful scenery, especially during the annual fireworks display in early August. Despite its proximity to Choshi Station, it remains relatively uncrowded even on weekends.
The park is immediately adjacent to the estuary of the Tone-river, closest to the famous Choshi fishing port. Visitors can enjoy the fresh sea air and beautiful picturesque scenery. However the point is that this place is good spot for fire works viewing taking place in early August every year.

Byōbugaura Cliffs, a stunning natural wonder located in the Kanto region of Japan, were formed around 3 million years ago through the relentless action of waves that shaped sea sediments. The sea cliffs, about 40m to 60m high, stretch for about 10km and are designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument. It is also called the Dover of the Orient because it resembles the scenery of the English Straits of Dover. The promenade that continues from the sandy beach of Choshi Marina allows you to see the impressive cliffs up close. We also recommend the panoramic view from the nearby "Earth's Round View Hill." This time, it was close to sunset, so the silhouette of the cliffs and the giant windmills standing on them was very photogenic, like something out of a science fiction world. ■Reservation: Not required ■Fee: Walking on the promenade is free ■Accessibility: About 5 minutes walk from Chiba Kotsu Bus "Choshi Marina Mae" (Original)

If you have a motorcycle, you can get away with parking it on the street, but it's still a violation... There is a village on the opposite side of the road, and a drainage canal has been constructed from there. We will follow it towards the coast. Whether you go down to the beach or from the top of the cliff, the view is amazing. Be careful not to fall on the cliff. There are no fences, and the area is soaked with rain and tide, making it quite slippery. The height is probably 2 to 30 meters, so it is unlikely that you will be seriously injured. Tetra pots have been installed on the area, which has been severely eroded, but while the erosion has been stopped, Kujukuri Beach is becoming thinner and thinner due to the lack of sand from sea erosion. The Herb Garden Pocket, a frequently spotlighted venue in the media, offers off-campus learning opportunities. Many individuals have visited this facility during their elementary school days to enrich their knowledge. While time constraints prevented some from exploring the foliage plants and merchandise, they nevertheless enjoyed a flavorful lunch consisting of herbal tea and oregano pilaf. The aromatic spices used in these dishes enhanced the overall taste, resulting in a delicious experience.
(Translated by Google) Pets are allowed here, and there is a lavender field on the premises, as well as a cafe and shop, as well as a tree house and a dog run. It's an herb garden, and the great thing about it is that there's no admission fee. Many kinds of flowers were blooming in the large garden, and they were also for sale. The shop also sells many herb-related goods such as herbs, flower seeds and seedlings, flower jams, lotions, and seasonings, so you can enjoy them. Local vegetables were also on sale that day, and they were cheap, like 5 green onions for 100 yen and 4 corn for 100 yen, so I bought green onions and tomatoes. After enjoying the scent of herbs in the park, it was time for lunch. I entered the terrace seat with a handmade feel using a pet cart and immediately checked the menu. There are many types such as pasta, omelet rice, pizza, pilaf, and curry. I chose the Mangetsu Omelet Rice (850 yen including tax), which is said to be the most popular. My companion ordered cold tomato and basil pasta (880 yen including tax). The A set comes with a salad and a drink for 380 yen, and the B set comes with a drink and dessert for 580 yen, so I would like to order the A set. Drinks arrived first. For drinks, I ordered jasmine tea and my companion ordered Hirameki tea, but it seemed like they used herbs grown in the garden, so we soaked the herbal tea in warm water and put it in a cold ice cup to make iced tea. I did. Full moon omelet rice is a creamy egg with herbs topped with herb sauce. Enjoy the aroma and flavor of parsley, basil, and oregano, and enjoy the omelette rice that can only be eaten here. And the tomato and basil cold pasta that I went with was a cold pasta with basil and parsley mixed in on a perfectly chilled glass plate. This is just delicious. The tomatoes were so sweet and delicious that I asked the staff later, and she said that the tomatoes were grown by a woman in the neighborhood and were very popular. It was delicious and I ate it all, thank you for the meal. Plants and goods are also sold. Some people were using the paid dog run. It seems like you can do various experiences. There is a reservation website, but it seems like you can do it without a reservation. I knew in advance that you could pick lavender (20 stalks for 300 yen), so I walked around the garden to check the condition of the lavender. I imagined it to be a lavender field like a lavender garden, but it was different. You pay in the store, are given scissors and a stick to guide the length, and you can pick 20 stalks from wherever you like. Of course, there was a lot of lavender that was out of season depending on the type and sunlight, so it was hard to choose 20 stalks. But 20 stalks for 300 yen is very reasonable! Order tea in the store, choose a terrace seat and wait on the terrace. You can also enjoy it in the store. (It looked like you could sit directly on the terrace and order, but it seemed a bit casual about that. Is it okay to do either?) The whole place felt a bit chaotic, but I was surprised to find myself feeling relaxed and having a good time while sipping tea and feeling the breeze on the terrace. I'd like to try dining there next time I have a chance to be in the area. While access to the upper areas may be challenging for some visitors due to steep trails, the lower main temple is easily reachable and provides a peaceful spot for reflection and prayer.

It's a challenging climb up the side of a hill. The steps are uneven and it was raining when we were there. However, elderly Japanese locals were climbing the shrine and so we had to try to climb it. There is nothing unusual to see because it looked like any other shrine. The rock formation above the shrine, however looked like it had been scratched by a giant predator. And the view from the balcony of the shrine with the Sakura adorning the path going up the mountain was quite lovely.

The national reserve known as Hinged Cape, located within the Suigo Tsukuba Quasi-National Park and Choshi Geopark, is a magnificent site with a towering sea cliff. The area also features a pedestrian walkway at its base that offers visitors breathtaking sunset views of Mount Fuji. On sunny days, it's an excellent place to spend time observing the strata and playing with sand in the shallow sea. The reserve provides visitors with restroom facilities and free showers for added convenience.
Nice place to visit and walk through the path comfortably feeling the nature, though, I wouldn’t call it Dover in Japan, a kind of cheap PR naming, rather, that might discourage modern visitors. These are really the millefeuille rock cliffs proudly preserved in Japan. Take time and look closely, they are really nature’s wander and magnificent.

Although the wind is strong and there are many people surfing, there is a walking path on the sandy side that is perfect for a stroll. It's less than a 20 minute walk from Inubo Station, but the closest one was a 7 minute walk from Kimigahama Station. Photos of Inubosaki that are well-known on tourist posters are often taken from Kimigahama waterfront at dusk. I read in the comments that you can feel the power of the shrine when you enter the approach, but unfortunately, perhaps because of the intense heat, I didn't feel that. . . However, the bridge over the railroad tracks and the brick walls were very atmospheric and nice. After praying at the worship hall, I went to the Okumiya. The Okumiya is a 7-8 minute walk from here. After passing through the deep forest, there was a parking lot at the back. The Okumiya is small, but it feels very mystical. The trees around it are especially amazing! I've posted a photo of them, but they are large and bizarre. There is an otherworldly atmosphere here. If you come to Saruta Shrine, it would be a shame to leave without seeing this place! (Translated by Google) May 2025 Many priests regularly serve here. Although it does not have a shrine rank, it is likely due to the devotion of many people. It is said that the rituals have been passed down by a single family for nearly 900 years. The grounds have apparently shrunk, but they are still quite large. The main area is the worship hall, but there is also an inner shrine and a main shrine. Near the inner shrine is a monument marking the site of Saint Shinran's sacred grounds. Prince Fushiminomiya Sada Narushinno (1858-1923) is said to have always visited the shrine when staying at his villa in Choshi. It is said that when the ancestral deity of the Imperial family descended from heaven to this land, Sarutahiko Okami led the way. He ordered the then-chief priest, Saruta Masaaki, to pray for the prosperity of the Imperial family, and was allowed to place the chrysanthemum crest on the shrine building. The main shrine building was constructed in the second year of the Daido era (807), and Minamoto no Yoriyoshi donated a sacred field during the Kōhei era (1058-1065). The shrine remained a devout religious center for samurai even after the Kamakura period, and it is said that Minamoto no Yoritomo also made a donation. Ashikaga Haruuji donated a gold seal, which still exists today. In 1566 (Eiroku 9), the shrine building was burned down in a battle between the Kaijo clan and the Awa Masaki clan, and was rebuilt during the Genki era, but burned down again in 1573 (Tensho 1), and rebuilt the following year in 1574 (Tensho 2), with the current main hall being rebuilt in 1680 (Enpo 8). Furthermore, in 1591 (Tensho 19), Tokugawa Ieyasu donated 30 koku of red seal land. The Shikinen Taisai Shinkosai festival is held in the year of the monkey (every 60 years). First of all, the fact that admission is free is amazing. The handsome director warmly welcomed us and gave us a detailed explanation. Personally, I fell in love with the second floor. There are many dangerous things such as UMA. Ashikajima Beach is a rocky shoreline that offers natural protection against the strong winds and waves. Unlike the coast near Inubosaki Lighthouse, this beach provides a calmer atmosphere due to its scattered rocky areas acting as breakwaters. Despite its small size, it offers essential amenities such as restrooms and showers during the season, along with vigilant lifeguards on duty at all times. The parking lot is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk.

The Cape Inubosaki Lighthouse Museum, located at the base of the lighthouse, offers insights into local history and features a large first-order Fresnel lens. The museum was unfortunately closed during a recent visit due to COVID-19, but visitors can still admire the iconic white postbox outside. The area around the cape boasts geological strata from the Mesozoic Cretaceous period and is designated as a natural monument and Japanese Geopark.

Lighthouses that use first-class lenses are called first-class lighthouses, and there are only five of them in Japan. Inside the museum, there were exhibits such as the history of the lighthouse and an explanation of the lighthouse, and on the second floor there was also a reproduction of the original painting by Moto Hagio. (Translated by Google) I first came to Inubosaki Lighthouse over 30 years ago when I was a teenager, but this is my third visit. It's not ``How Many Years of Joy and Sorrow'' depicts the story of a lighthouse keeper, but I was truly moved by the Inubosaki Lighthouse, which continues to stand with the same beautiful chalk white appearance no matter how many years have passed. Masu. At Inubosaki Lighthouse, I noticed that new facilities have been added that I wasn't familiar with the last time I was there. Apparently it's the ``Lighthouse Materials Exhibition Hall,'' which opened in 2002. As soon as you enter the museum, you'll notice that there's a huge, 5m long structure that's spinning around (and glowing!), reminiscent of the old man in GeGeGe no Kitaro. I was totally blown away (lol). This is said to be the first domestically produced Fresnel lens that was installed at the lighthouse on Okinoshima, an isolated island in the Genkai Sea, and was used from 1921 to 2007. It seems like it will last a long time (lol). It was very interesting to see the actual rotational speed and structure of the lens because the drive mechanism had been relocated and installed. Okinoshima was originally a solitary island in the distant sea with nothing within 60km of the surrounding area, and as it was an island where women were not allowed to live, families were unable to live there, and the only people living on the island were the priest of Munakata Shrine and a few related people. The loneliness and hardship faced by the lighthouse keepers is unimaginable. While caring for this lens, I wonder if he was thinking, ``Now that I think about it, I've come a long way...'' (lol) When I came to Inubosaki for the first time in a while, I noticed that some facilities had disappeared. It is a 50m high pole antenna for D-GPS that was noticeable even from a distance. The initial GPS for civilian use had an error of about 100 meters, and the accuracy was too low to be used for navigation, etc. Therefore, a signal was sent from a fixed point on the ground to correct it, and to improve the accuracy, ``radio wave'' was used. It was set up as a lighthouse. However, the US released military code with an accuracy of less than 10 meters to the public, and Japan also launched positioning satellites such as ``MICHIBIKI'', making it ``obsolete''. In reality, the Inubosaki Lighthouse may no longer be as important as it once was due to advances in GPS, but I hope it remains as a beautiful landmark forever.
