Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nestled in the heart of Ubon Ratchathani, Wat Phra That Nong Bua stands as a stunning testament to Buddhist architecture and spirituality. This remarkable temple features an impressive chedi adorned with intricate gold detailing that captures the eye from afar. The serene atmosphere is complemented by numerous seated Buddha statues, inviting visitors to reflect and meditate.
This temple is well worth the trip. Very few westerners were here and it was a very genuine local experience that I'd highly recommend enjoying. The temple is stunning and there are no pushy vendors outside. Just go!
Ok — Google review
The winner of wax carving in 2024 Ubon Candle festival. The Chedi may be the main attraction. But the whole temple area is beautiful and interesting. Inside the Uposatha or prayer hall are buddha statues, beautiful escalation ceiling. The rest area is decorated with colorful silk flowers, it's shady and tranquil.
Nik S — Google review
We arrived to see the carved candles and that was amazing. We missed the festival, which is a sight to see...but the carving shows great craftsmanship and artistic abilities of the local people. Beautiful and large temple.
Koko C — Google review
Another extremely beautiful and clean Temple. Very peaceful and relaxing time with the family walking around and praying inside. Would definitely recommend.
Paul C — Google review
Wat an amazing temple! It was pristine the colours clean and sharp, no rubbish anywhere. So much to look at and explore, you feel a real sence of awe and reverence well worth a couple of hours exploring
Stuart W — Google review
If you want to clease your spirit this is a famous place in this city to do it, a massive pyramid tower accentuates the local area with ornate dressings in gardens & on standby is world famous candle festival carving floats that happen annually here, a definite must see if your are here. Next to temple is relaxing lake park with running / walking track where locals exercise & night time aerobics classes
Rob N — Google review
Beautiful temple with big tower, amazing architecture and decorations, worth to visit and worship here
Jack C — Google review
I enjoy to visit this temple very much. There are many interesting places inside. The temple itself was so beautiful by Isarn style. Surrounded by the Candles crafted.

Sunee Grand Hotel

Hotel
Sunee Grand Hotel is a stylish accommodation located within a shopping complex, offering a restaurant, spa, and rooftop pool. It is centrally situated just minutes away from UBP airport. The hotel provides comfortable rooms with good views and friendly staff who speak English at reception. Additionally, it features a swimming pool and water park upstairs. The hotel is directly connected to a food court and shopping mall, making it convenient for guests to access various amenities.
Great hotel. Lovely room. Great facilities and breakfast. The food on the room service menu is a little hit and miss (some dishes are great some are underwhelming). It's next to a lovely night market. Stayed with my girlfriend. It was romantic and this is our favourite hotel in the city on balance.
Michael P — Google review
The hotel was kind enough to give me early check-in, and the process was smooth. The lobby is connected to the food court of a large shopping mall and a coffee kiosk was conveniently located right next to the elevators. A bellman took my luggage to my room which was clean and perfectly fine. It's not a newer hotel so it shows it's a bit. But I would highly recommend this hotel for those looking for a good price point. Free parking outside in inside and there's a large night market immediately adjacent to the hotel. I left early in the morning so I missed the buffet breakfast. Check out was easy and it was a very pleasant, but short stay.
Cool P — Google review
Disappointing stay. Booked the executive suite for my family (wife and 2 kids) , the sofa was stained and dirty so we asked for a sheet to cover it, we were charged 100baht to "rent" a an old sheet full of holes to put over the dirty sofa? My wife took my kids to breakfast and was told she needed to buy a ticket for one of the boys because the room we booked for 4 people and only includes 2 breakfasts. My wife agreed and asked them to add the charge to the room and we could pay on checkout, they said no and made her go to reception to buy the coupon and then return to the restaurant, another 125baht charge. The customer experience at this hotel is not good, there are much better locations in the same price range.
Kevin K — Google review
No Love here, No soul, No smiles. It's all about the money money money. Possibly the Hotel is quite Business orientated and not alot of holiday makers because they don't seem to care. And want to charge for everything, an extra pillow will cost you 100 Baht, I've never experienced this in over 70 countries. If you're a holiday maker, I'd give it a skip.
Mark E — Google review
One of the best hotel at Ubon Ratchathani. It has a convention centre, an amazing swimming pool. Good spacious rooms. Parking and a connected mini mall and supermarket. The night market is just opposite and kfc is also there which is open 24/7. A solo singer was playing very good music too that we thoroughly enjoyed
Jahanzeb K — Google review
Always a pleasure when staying here. Breakfast is good and rooms well appointed. Staff very friendly. Has a good pool. Will always stay here when in Ubon Ratchitani.
Mick A — Google review
Pools beautiful and foodcourt downstairs plus movie access on tv. (Movie night!) So overall nice easy travel hotel to catch up on rest. I Really wanted the sauna. They ask you to pay 200bht which I felt was pushing the system. *a massage is 300bht. Other hotels let you use them for free aswell as gym and pool. But might just be the go in the bigger citys.
Frankie B — Google review
I choked on a 2" screw, which was found in my meal, whilst staying at this hotel, it was a birthday gift from my daughter. I was taken to a nearby hospital for x-rays. The following day I was ready to check out but there was no contact from management, asking about my well being. There was a lack of care, compassion or even respect, it was as if they were glad to be rid of me.

Airport
International airport
Ubon Ratchathani International Airport, with the IATA code UBP and ICAO code VTUU, primarily operates flights to Bangkok throughout most of the year. Nok Air offers 7 daily flights to Bangkok Donmueang, while Thai Airways provides two daily non-stop flights between Bangkok and Ubon. The airport is small but well-maintained, featuring clean facilities including restrooms and a prayer room that can be accessed by requesting assistance from the information counter staff.
The airport is modern, beautifully decorated, clean and offers a shuttle bus to bus station, or you can take a taxi or rent a car.
Prat M — Google review
Good international and domestic airport. It should be the biggest airport in the region. The nearest international airport of the same level should be Phnom Penh airport.
A T — Google review
Small but sufficient for what's needed, clean and modern, very helpful staffs, car hire was simple and return was even simpler
Michael K — Google review
Clean airport. still looks relatively new. There are several cafes to chill while waiting for flights. May 25: there’s a city bus to town/ bus terminal/ Central Ubon Mall. Bus stop is just outside the terminal on the right side once you step out. Outside black canyon cafe. For just 20b. Frequency is low though. I took the 12.45pm bus, but it departed at 12.40pm. Reach terminal at 1.10pm.

International Airport . facility are completely perfect. Full of mass transportation from airport to many destination around Ubon Ratchathani
Danuwas B — Google review
Small but clean airport. The toilet is clean. There is a prayer room, but you need to ask the staff at the information counter service to open the door. You may find local product in this airport and the price is not that expensive. It’s just a little bit higher from the outside shop but very reasonable. On the other hand, if you need to rent a car, you may go to gate 3 and walk outside to the left.
Jamaliah S — Google review
This airport is in really bad shape, all the tiles in the waiting are are stained. There is no carparking since they closed the dirt carpark near the entrance gate.
Derek H — Google review
Modern airport with international and domestic flights. Easy and quick access to the departure gate. Lack of big restaurants and shops in the departure zone. However, there are some shops on the west side of the departure area, for coffee and snacks.

Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal

Transportation service
Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal is situated on Highway 231 in the city's far northwestern corner, offering easy access to the city center via taxis, tuk-tuks, or songthaews.
May 25: Ubon to Pakse. 200b. Cannot purchase in advance but you can write your name to reserve a ticket. They told me that they will hold the reservation til 8.30am then they will release the ticket. the bus on Sunday is almost sold out at 8.45am. There is also a 5b overtime fee for the Thai immigration on weekends & PH. The bus attendant collected this fee upon departure. Left the terminal at 9.30am. Reach Thai border at 11.15am. Cleared both immigration without fuss, no one asked for extra money. To get to Laos immigration u need to exit the Thai immigration building, then go thru the underpass and walked across the road. I exchanged 1000thb for 645k kip at the shops outside the Laos border as I don't intend to go to Pakse center. After everyone got on board, the bus left at 11.55am. Reach Kiengkai Bus Station ຄິວລົດກຽງໄກ (4 km) at 12.50pm. If you are going to Pakse center, alight here, there are songtiao heading there. Arrived 8km bus terminal at 1.10pm. There is a city bus from the Ubon terminal that goes to Ubon Central Mall and the airport. 20b. Frequency is low though. The bus will stop at the drop off point.
Wilson Y — Google review
Good bus terminal with 2 buses to pakse at 9:30 an 15:00. Bought my ticket the same morning. Just get a shared taxi (pink one) at the trainstation or stopp it on the street. They will stp directly at the busterminnal. Dont be scared, they are gonna pass the busstation at first but then make a u-turn afer abou 1km and drop you off at rhe entrance of the terminal.
Fabio I — Google review
One of the best run stations in Thailand: has English-speaking young men/women coming offering assistance; strong wiFi (for PW see photo); taxis lined ip neatly on one side; has one of the better bus station food centers (where you can get grapao moo + fried egg over rice + coke in its former glorious glass bottle — all for 70baht)!
Silver L — Google review
Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal – Where the Journey Begins (or Ends) in Style Stepping into Ubon Ratchathani’s bus terminal, I expected chaos, confusion, and perhaps a few questionable smells. Instead, I found a surprisingly organized and well-located transit hub, right in the heart of Ubon. Hungry? No problem—there are plenty of food stalls offering everything from steaming bowls of noodles to mystery meat skewers (probably pork, but let’s not ask too many questions). Need a bathroom break? The restrooms are semi-clean, which is a diplomatic way of saying you’ll survive, but bring tissues just in case. The real highlight? The friendly staff! They’re not just helpful—they’re genuinely excited to practice their English. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a walking, talking language lesson, this is your moment to shine. Overall, it’s a solid bus station experience. Could it use a few improvements? Sure. But as far as Thai bus terminals go, this one’s a winner. Would ride again! 4.5/5. The doctor was in the house!

We used this bus station to cross the border and go to Pakxe. There are 2 busses daily at 09:30 and 15:00. The price for a ticket is 200 Bath. The journey tp Pakxe takes about 3 hours.

I arrived at Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal from Attapeu, Laos, at 6 p.m. To find accommodation, I went to the TAC-U booth, where I had received help six months earlier. This staff member approached me and I asked if he could call around to check for available rooms in the Isan region. When he refused, I mentioned that two other staff members at this booth had helped me six months ago then his attitude turned sarcastic, claiming he couldn’t understand my English, so I decided to leave. As I walked away, he said things like “Chi” and “Get out,” which I found rude and inappropriate. I told him his behavior was unacceptable and that I would file a complaint. When I took photos of his ID badge and the TAC-U booth, he became unhinged. For about 10 minutes while I waited for my Grab taxi, he gathered over 10 Thai people around me, continuously filmed me, and repeated incomprehensible words in an aggressive manner which I couldn't understand. I repeatedly said, “Please, go away. We’re done,” over 10 times, but it had no effect. I don’t understand why this person is even at that booth. This behavior felt like intimidation, harassment, and stalking, making me feel extremely unsafe. I believe he wouldn’t dare act this way toward a fellow Thai person. I can’t understand why he thinks this absurd approach to problem-solving is acceptable.

Medium-size bus station with many destinations throughout the country. You can travel to BKK, Udonthani, Khon Khaen, Sisaket and even Phuket and many more.... There is an international bus going to Laos (Pakse). When you arrive at the entrance, a woman will advise you and get you to the ticket office that you need. Some travelers use pre-book tickets on the internet with higher prices... In my experience, it is not really necessary... I have always find a seat at least until now. Prices are very interesting, buses are air-conditioned and confortable for travelling. The trip to Laos costs 5 US dollars - in 2024.

Outdoor Activities
Ubon Ratchathani Zoo is a delightful destination nestled in a lush, forested area, perfect for animal lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Visitors can explore the zoo via golf carts or buses, making it easy to navigate its expansive grounds. For those who prefer cycling, there are excellent bike paths available; bringing your own bike is encouraged as rentals are affordable at just 50 baht for the day.
Just love this zoo as it has very big zoo exhibits for each animal although there are not many kinds but I'm grateful to see the animals live in very large areas. You have to only rent a bike, golf car or take a zoo bus to hop around the exhibits you cannot walk the zoo is big !! Also covered by big trees. It is worth coming once you visit the Ubonratchatani zoo with family, couple or alone all good. At Least 1.30 - 2 hours spent here.
Supree Y — Google review
Very nice zoo. I was impressed by the cleanliness and organization. Animals are well taken care off and have a lot of space. That's why you have to get a golf cart to drive around. Or you can also go with bicycle.

Big zoo in Ubon, all animals seem to live in the natural forest. A bit expensive ticket for foreigners. Adult: 350 baht Kids: 120 baht Car: 50 baht You can’t visit by walking, you need to spend money for renting golf car 500 baht for 4 people for 1.5 hour, or a bus for 25 baht/person

This is an excellent zoo nestled in a beautiful forrested area. Excellent bike paths within, especially for mountain bikes. I suggest you bring your own bicycles. If you bring your own bike , the bike rental consession charges 50 baht for all day riding of trails. If you ride in on a bicycle you wll be charged 10 baht parking fee. Small prices to pay for a day out. Aside from these charges if you are,a Senior citizen Thai or foreign , no admission fee. Golf carts and bus-tram also available. Other admission prices on website. My photos are only of the bicycle trails
Ron O — Google review
We came here after missing our bus and it ended up being a happy mistake (as we also went to an amazing restaurant called Indochine). The zoo is actually quite big and includes some interactions too (pictured). The animal enclosures were generally very big but no doubt some less than ethical practices.
Isaac P — Google review
We genuinely had fun there. Yes it is not the most flashy zoo of Thailand but I like the atmosphere, feels like going through Jurassic Park in the forest. We rented some electrical bikes to go around and my young one loved it. Great to spend 2 hours
Julien — Google review
Best zoo in Thailand for sure... Contender for best 1 hour zoo experience for a family with young kids in the world. If you can get over (or get by by insisting in Thai) the double pricing for foreigners and remember to not lose your receipt for the 200 baht golf cart rental (forget taking the tram), everything will be fine. There's not a great variety of animals or exhibits overall, but the ones they have can be magnificent... My daughter and I had the greatest tiger experience ever here, he got up real close and ignored us like a boss!
Justin Y — Google review
It was a very pleasant experience, much better than I expected. You can rent a bike and cycle inside the zoo which has a bicycle lane. The zoo keeper are very friendly and helpful. It was a thoroughly enjoyable time with the family.

Swensen's in Ubon is the ultimate destination for ice cream enthusiasts. It offers a wide variety of delectable and refreshing flavors, making it the perfect choice to beat the scorching heat. This establishment prioritizes cleanliness and adheres strictly to the established guidelines during these challenging times of COVID-19. The staff members are attentive and efficient, guaranteeing prompt service.
Very nice ice-cream parlor in a Tesco Lotus shopping center. The products that you can get at Swensens are equivalent from one place to another, in general very good, with a nice presentation. Prices are not cheap for Thailand, but you also pay for the ambiance and the service to.

Aroi Sushi Ubon is a suitable venue for a small dinner or sushi lunch. If arrangements are made, they can accommodate larger groups. The sushi tastes great and the prices are average. They also offer buffet deals that provide good value for money. This Japanese restaurant in Ubon is excellent and has been visited multiple times by many customers who always enjoy their experience. The buffets they serve are fantastic offers, allowing patrons to eat as much as they want within a two-hour time frame.
Excellent japanese restaurant. During 2 month in Ubon I went there about a dozend times and always loved it. The buffets they offer are great deals. Pay a fixed price and eat for 2 hours as much as you want. There are also great lunch offers.

1 star is too much for this place The worst Japanese I have had in my life Gyoza was like it'd been deep fried for thousand of times Rice was cold, maybe their could use a rice cooker to warm up their rice? Sashimi was not fresh that I didnt dare to try I ordered fish that took so long to come and it came half warm half cold, their microwave was broken I reckon The only good things was miso soup that look freshly made, boiled water freshly mixed with miso powder, tasted very weak though. DON'T waste your money here
Ing J — Google review
The place is not too big but very suitable fow a small dinner or sushi lunchtime. I'm sure if you make arrangements then they would accommodate for a larger table. Taste of the sushi is excellent and the price is about average. The buffet deals make it worthwhile
Juvan K — Google review
The price has gotten too expensive for what you get. 800 baht per head now. The Hotate shell is NOT FRESH. Very bad odor. It ruined the whole meal. Used to be good Japanese for Ubon and good price (before only 599). Too bad for raising the price and lowering the quality.
Kan K — Google review
It looks better than it tastes. The Sashimi is nearly tasteless (and we tried all), the other stuff has too much sweet mayonaise. We are Sushi lovers and were really disappointed. Good that we live in Chiang Mai with some really good Sushi restaurants.

Aroi is the best!!! I eat here every time I am in Ubon. It's either aroi or mattsu (another place with sushi) this one is superior quality at a great price...mattsu is superior quality with a exclusive frame at a higher price. Try both!

Honestly..I never stayed in the hotel, I just know it's quiet and clean. I go for the restaurant. The food is excellent. The owner is the cook, and as goes above and beyond to make certain everything that's put on your table is top notch. Mexican food, burgers, Thai/Isan, all so tasty and large portions. Highly recommend! Cheers!

A large room with simple furnishings, and a toilet and shower spread over two smaller rooms. The place has a restaurant, and a garden is available where you can relax with food and good drinks. If you are not leaving very early, there is the option of serving food before departure. They close at 9 PM, but the gate is open and the key to the room is available at the door so it's fine to come later. Parking can be done in the street outside the hotel.

Can’t comment on the rooms, but the service and Mexican food was great! Chili Verdi burrito for me (it’s large) and tostadas for the wife and we enjoyed all very much.

Wonderful host and great food. If your lucky, you'll get to hear some good old tunes as well.

I arrived during open mic night (Friday) and was able to enjoy music played by Western expats. Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was extremely clean and comfortable with large seperate toilet and shower room. Air con worked well. I booked a room with one large bed but received a twin. Location is very close to the airport. Overall, a great experience.

Staying at the Outside Inn is a unique experience, more Airbnb than hotel. Having said that, the room we stayed in was large, nicely decorated and laid out, and the entire place had a charming atmosphere. We rented scooters one day from there, and had Mexican food from their restaurant, very delicious indeed, as all other reviews mention. We explored service beyond the call when we needed to use a laundromat, got a lift from the owner and then she dropped us off at a Japanese restaurant. However: you’re on your own when it comes to cleaning the room you stay in… But for the charge it’s fair enough. Plus: you get to experience live music when staying there!

I have stayed and eaten here many times The rooms are comfortable homey rather than hi-so and the place has a great vibe about it. The food is amazing especially the Mexican Always good service and Aimmy who seems to be the manager now that Brent sold the place, is really wonderful I have been promising to try the hamburger and today i finally did. It was the Outside Inn burger with caramelised onion and bacon. It was super. So don't turn yourself inside out looking for a place to stay or a meal, turn yourself outside inn. Feb 2025 Been away for a few years but got reacquainted with the innsides of this place. Great homey room with a very comfortable bed. The new owner has freshened up the place. Dinner was great with a super blue cheese burger and excellent fries. Food prices are farang, but that's to be expected. Highly recommended. Now there are 1 or 2 parking places sometimes too.

I made our booking as two couples, as we were showing some friends up from Bangkok around Ubon. On arrival we were immediately made to feel like friends and regulars. The food and drinks all first class and very fairly priced, with an excellent available selection from the menu. Between the four of us, we tried many meals, both Mexican and Thai, and all were thoroughly enjoyed with not a morsel left. The drinks promotions were most welcome as were the complimentary nachos to go with them. The staff were brilliant throughout our two-night stay, being attentive, polite, and a joy to chat to. Slatko and his family could not be more welcoming. Our room was a decent size and clean, It's nothing hi-so, but it had a big comfortable bed and all the amenities we needed. Again, a fair price. We had an enjoyable and comfortable stay which we recommend to others, especially those who love to be around nice people in pleasant surroundings down a quiet street which isn't far from the city centre.

Nestled in the heart of Ubon Ratchathani, Venezia Ubon offers a delightful escape into Italian cuisine that is perfect for any occasion. This charming restaurant has garnered attention for its romantic ambiance, especially during special events like Valentine's Day, where guests are treated to an enchanting dining experience. Patrons rave about the phenomenal food and expertly crafted drinks that elevate their meals.
This was the most expensive meal I've had in Thailand yet, but it was also the best quality meal as well. The pork chop was buttery tender, and the salad was fresh and crisp. Everything else we ordered was fantastic as well. The atmosphere is very nice, so the electronic robot server was kind of out of place for me, but otherwise, it was fine dining.
Leslie B — Google review
The quantity was more than enough. Unfortunately not as Italian as I'm used to from the original, just with a Thai touch, the pizza was too sweet for my taste. Spaghetti Fruiti de Mare was good. The price was more for tourists...
Jürgen F — Google review
This is an outstanding Italian restaurant located outside of Ubon Ratchathani city. They serve a wide variety of dishes and do so very well. I ordered Spaghetti Vongole, Pork Chop, and Sea bass Steak, and they were all really good. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food, and the staff take great care of every customer.
Neeraj K — Google review
Itallian restaurant with the wow factor. Also caters for Thai style. Visited on a week day, early evening so was not busy. Staff were very attentive and helpful, food ingredients were high quality and each dish was prepared to a high standard. Expect to pay a little more than your average Ubon restaurant but not excessive and worth every penny for the extra quality and service. It does try a little too hard with technology, with the menu presented on tablet devices instead of traditional menus, (which seemed like a chore to navigate) and the robot service trolley seems unnecessary. Would be more classy with traditional written menu’s in a nice folder and no robots lol. Overall, apart from the out of place technology, I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for quality food and service.

Probably the best Italian food in Ubon Ratchathani. Delicious pasta, great pizza, good steak. The service is fine and the price is very reasonable.

We dined here on Valentines Day and from start to finish we had a spectacular experience. The Venezia was themed for Valentines Day and romance. The staff was superb and very professional. The food is phenomenal and delicious the drinks were spot on. We had a wonderful time and we will be back. The only negative thing for me was they brought out the main course before the appetizers. Besides that everything else is spot on. Thank you for a really unique dining experience in Ubon..

As always .... nice ambiance and good food. However, the Service quality still can improve in real customer attendance quite a bit. And: No Grappa in an Italian restaurant is a real no-go. Hope Venezia upgrades the bar menue for this.... this is more than just a wish or a nice to have .... it's part of the Italian food culture 😉☺️.

Day 2

South side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the south side side of town. Start the day off with Thung Sri Mueang, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to วัดหนองป่าพง (หลวงปู่ชา). All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

A nice little park. You find a track for running as well as some equipment for work-out. But people also use the park to relax, meet or just for a walk. It’s very central and not far from the river. It’s not big. But the bigger park is quite far. This one does the job.

Wat Thung Si Mueang, built during the reign of Rama III, features a well-preserved classic hor drai resting on stilts in the middle of a pond to protect precious scriptures. The original murals in the nearby boht depict life from that era and are remarkably well-preserved. Visitors can observe local daily life and witness beautiful worship areas, with locals engaging in morning exercises like cycling, yoga, and Tai Chi.
An Old temple in Ubonratchatani there is a scripture library that keeps Buddhist scripture on the water 200 years old with mixed architecture of Rattanakosin and Laotian style.

My third Temple visit of the day and so different to the previous two, but that's what I like, variety. The north part of the site is a bit disheveled and unfortunately their "star attraction" the Scripture Hall is undergoing restoration and enclosed in scaffolding. The wooden scripture hall was built in 1842 in traditional Isan style on high stilts over a small pond with a two tiered gable roof. I would probably give 5 stars if this building wasn't currently covered. The main attraction is therefore the small ordination hall. You must step inside to view the old painted murals on it' walls.

Located in Ubon Ratchatani. This temple was built to house Buddha footprint during the reign of Rama 3. Of historical interest is the Tripitaka library, built on stilts with a moat around it to protect document from insects.

Worth for visiting, these temple was built 200 years ago . The interesting structure is temple hall that have Buddha statue and old paintings at the wall. Another is Buddhist scripture hall that was built from woods in traditional Isan style. Cons - a lot of pigeons , and pigeons poop in scripture hall.

This temple has an important building in its grounds, Script Repository. This is the method of keeping palm scripts, ancient knowledge. Buddhist texts and local knowledge. It was built on water to keep the ants out. Now this building is full of bats and pigeons, which poop everywhere.

Wat Maha Wanaram, also known as Wat Pa Yai, is a significant and ancient Buddhist temple in Ubon Ratchathani. Established in the 18th century, it holds great importance as the principal temple in the city. The temple houses the revered Phrachao Yai In Paeng Buddha image, which is considered invaluable to the province. Locals frequently visit to make merits and pray for success in various aspects of life, including education and travel.

Some renovation work currently going on at the front of the site around the shrines but the main temple buildings, Ubosot and Assembly Hall in the middle of the site are resplendant. It's a popular site with Thai people coming to make merit. The inside of the main building with it's many spotlights and coloured glass is beautiful.

A more modern style temple but very well decorated on the outside. At the time of my visit (July 2017) it wasn't 100% completed. It is situated on a large compound which seems to also include a monastic school so you will see Monks and Novices of varying ages.

This is an ancient Buddhist Monastery in Ubon Ratchathani, it established in 18th century. There is a huge Buddha statue that called ‘PHRA CHAO YAI IN PAENG’, the words derived from Thai which means The Buddha statue was made by the Angles. Recently people in Ubon Ratchathani believe that if they want to do something just come and pray for doing that it helps them succeed, even for education also including traveling. Nowadays there are renovating or reconnecting the pavilion due to the old one got damaged, so new pavilion is very artistic, exquisite in contemporary style which is mixing with northern and northeastern styles. So anyone who reached Ubon Ratchathani should not miss this temple.

The market is well-organized and clean with ample parking and seating for visitors to enjoy their meals. Live music adds to the lively atmosphere on select nights. With a mix of food stalls and other vendors, it's a great place to explore different culinary delights and shop for various items.
Lively mood with good music playing in the background and plenty of stalls. I would say 75% food and 25% good. Everyone is friendly. Everyone smiles makes you feel welcome. The food is amazing and I almost want to try every stall. Highly recommended.

I settled in for some icy cold Leo lagers, plus mini pizzas and a small chicken kebab, in the beer garden. . Friday nightlife was alright in Ubon Ratchatani @ Coffee Chill TV 🍻🍕📺😉 . I enjoyed myself so much, that I came back again the next night. 😉

A variety of vendor food. The 3 different food items I ate ( fried chicken, spring rolls, and a salad ) were of poor quality. ( Salad was not fresh; chicken & spring rolls greasy) 🤢Maybe the local students who come here to socialize don’t mind the taste. Nice to sit down and enjoy a beer while eating the substandard vendor food. Plenty of car parking inside next to the hotel parking area.

Not as much options for food as other markets we've been to but overall still really good and the markets are always great. We both ate until we couldn't eat anymore and all for very little cost. Cheapest mango sticky rice we've seen (20 Thai Baht)! Hilariously, one of the stands had various curries and when I was looking the vendor looked concerned and said "only this one not spicy". He was very shocked when I said I'd take the spicy one - delicious (aroi!)

Sadly, there's no vegetarian food here at all. The mall next door has Mr. KEBAB and a pastry shop that sells vegetarian food. The music here is nice, but too loud! Wear ea ear plugs. Not that much clothing or jewellery stalls here. There is inexpensive beer however.

Love this night market 😍 This market offers variety of food with reasonable price to cheap. They also have a live music every night. Plenty of tables and chairs. A must-try is meats with hot basil shop on the first roll, close to the street side. If its your lucky day, you might get to try their beef basil! Sold out so fast by 6 pm, it is that good 👍 Then finished with a waffle shop. It is my favourite waffle in Ubon.

Wat Supattanaram Worawihan, also known as Wat Supat, is a riverside temple with a unique boht that showcases a blend of Thai, European, and Khmer architectural elements. The main temple hall is an elegant white Ubosot surrounded by traditional boundary stones. The grounds include a school with a large pavilion and a private museum housing ancient Buddha statues and relics. In the evening, the temple's illuminated beauty stands out.
What a great place! Taking a picture, feeding birds and fish, sitting by the river, I can experience different things in one place 🎉

Near the Mun River, an amazing white temple built in 1853 and now right next to a school. On the left, after the entrance, a huge tree holding all the past spirits... There is a small museum to visit too but the main attraction is the temple and its annex.
Oliver K — Google review
This doesn't have that cosy more intimate charm of it's nearby neighbour Wat Luang. It's a more open site and has a school with large pavillion within it's grounds. But I was taken by a Monk who befriended me and took me to the Temple's private museum full of very old Buddha statues and relics, however no photos allowed in the museum. The principle building is the gleaming white Ubosot surrounded by a low wall supporting the traditional eight boundary stones.

This temple location has history but the actual temple is just ok in my opinion. The best part was the young students coming over to ask me questions and practice their English. It is always fun for me to see young people taking opportunities to increase their skills. Glad to be their guinea pig 🙄🙄

The main temple hall is built in a unique style mixing European, Chinese and Thai elements. There are a few nice small temples. The best place to rest is at the river. Wat Nong Pa Phong is a modern Buddhist temple located in serene and leafy surroundings in Warinchumrab, Ubonratchatani. It is an ideal spot to learn about Luang Pu Cha, a renowned monk who made Buddhism accessible to non-Thai speakers through his simple teachings. The complex comprises of three parts - Museum Ajahn Chah, Luang Pu Cha Pagoda and Wat Nong Pa Phong.
Nestled amidst a peaceful and shady forest, this temple is a true gem. With its spacious layout and numerous towering trees, it offers a serene and cool retreat. The temple houses a remarkable Phra Phothinyanthera Chedi, an architectural marvel that combines traditional Isan design with contemporary art. This magnificent bell-shaped chedi stands tall in bright gold, serving as a sacred space to honor the remains of Luang Pu Cha. Beyond the chedi, the Phra Phothinyanthera (Cha Subhatto) Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Luang Pu’s life and teachings. Here, you can explore exhibits showcasing his travels across various countries, spreading the Dharma with his wisdom and compassion. Additionally, you’ll find personal items that Luang Pu used during his lifetime, providing a tangible connection to his legacy.

A forest temple situated over a large area with many buildings around the terrain, with a Vipassana meditation centre. Great place to practice dhamma. Come register at the public relations building first. Foreigners can stay here as long as they want. Less activity and busy than wat ba nanachat. A few English speaking monks here, one who likes to teach meditation to Thai and foreigners. Wake up drum call at 3:00AM. Morning chanting at 3:15AM. Meal of the day ceremony begins around 8A.M.

An interesting history which is well documented in displays at the outer buildings. Set in the woods, the wat looks other-worldly as you approach. The interior is splendidly finished, making for a rewarding experience for devotees.

Beautiful serene monastery with Ajahn Cha's teachings scattered throughout in the trees. Perfect place to meditate and encounter the dhamma. Suggested itinerary: Come to the entrance at 5.30am to give offerings to the monks returning from alms round, then walk around the grounds and explore the chedi/stupa further in. Come back to the main hall for blessing at 8am then if you want, get a plate and share in the remaining breakfast offerings after the monks have taken their share. After that go visit the Ajahn Cha museum. Great place for anyone seeking peace and wisdom. A must visit for followers of Ajahn Cha and his many Western and Thai monks to come pay homage to the amazing founder of this tradition.

It is a famous local restaurant in the city. The taste of the noodle soup(Kuay Chap) is very delicious. It is their signature menu. The price is very cheap when compared to the quality and quantity. But since the shop is probably an original shop, the tables are quite tight, but it is okay. It has a local feel. If the parking in front of the shop is full, you can go a little further and walk here. Restroom are available here.

Big bowl and delicious with price 50 baht per bowl, waiting for line 2-5 minutes in late morning, parking on side road.

This place serves up everything from classic Vietnamese pho to savory pork rib soup and fluffy rice berry congee, fried donut, local coffee. The fried eggs are cooked to perfection, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. If you're looking for a taste of authentic local breakfast cuisine, this place is a must-visit!

This is a very eye-opening experience for people used to pho in the US. The broth alone makes the dish. The noodles and different sausages are all amazing too. Consider yourself lucky to find this place on your travels.

Kuay Jab Rot Seab 899 is a must-visit spot in Ubon for its delicious Vietnamese-influenced soup. The dish features tender pork ribs, Vietnamese sausage slivers, and unique thin rice noodles in a flavorful broth with roasted shallots and fresh spring onions. The large portion is reasonably priced at 60 baht and the restaurant offers air conditioning along with complimentary pandan water.
I'm not a fan but my family loves it. Braised chicken feet is nice. No parking and locate right at the traffic lights. Aircon cannot fight with 42 degree outside temperature. Inside is very cram during lunch. Orange juice is also nice.

The Kuay Jab is exceptional, earning a well-deserved five stars for its exquisite texture, succulent pork, and clear broth that’s rich in flavor. It’s a culinary treasure! Despite the absence of an English menu, the service is impressively swift and seamless. The large pictures on the wall, showcasing the variety of toppings, make ordering straightforward and enjoyable.

Love this place. Classic spot for the noodles. Come here every time I visit Ubon.

Fabulous little place. The vietnamese influenced soup called Kuay Jab had tender pork ribs and Vietnamese sausage slivers with yummy thin rice noodles that aren't like the standard vermicelli. The broth had lots of flavor with roasted shallots and fresh spring onions and sawtooth coriander. I order the large at 60baht. It's got aircon and they bring you a cup with ice and there is a pitcher of pandan water in the table (free). The lady who served me spoke some English too. Cant wait to return again tomorrow!

This is the original one “former Kuay Jab 99”. This “899” is located quite near to the “99” so don’t mistake them. Best kuay jab in ubon and this is the best I’ve tried... reasonable price starting from just 35-40 Baht. ;)

Nice Italian restaurant in downtown Ubon. Right next to the YUU hotel. The atmosphere is a bit odd. The place breathes the 80s. But it’s kind of cool as well. The pasta I had was very tasty. Even though it didn’t come with Guanciale or Pancetta but bacon I really liked the Amatriciana. The staff was very kind and prices are more than reasonable. They also have a wine selection which I haven’t tried.

Real italian tastes with good quality ingredients too. One of the best pizza of Ubon (should add more tomato sauce and less cheese in it). The place is nice and clean, the staff so kind and professional. We would be back to try more dishes because the menu is well filled.

For the very best pizza you have to go to Italy. For the very best pizza in Ubon you have to visit the Spago. Only the very best ingredients have been used. It's really difficult to find the right cheese for pizza here in Thailand. I found it on Spigos pizza. Well done. I come back later for more.

Went there april 29 2022 at 8 35 pm, I asked for the new large pizza PZ25 meat lover (minced meat, sausage, salami and mushrooms) When they brought this thing to me, I cannot even call it a pizza, look depressing and sick, no pride in cooking at all. Under cooked Way over cheesed MISSING the salami MISSING the minced meat Absolutly no pizza sauce or maybe 1 tea spoon of sauce at most. When I told the very nice and helpful waitress, the cook give her a platter of none cook salami to bring me so I can build my own pizza at the table, The cook not even ask me to do a new one The cook not even told the waitress to give me a credit For the sake of that poor waitress that was obviously the only one trying to adress the situation, I did pay my full bill at full price, so I dont embarrassed her more then she was, but the rest of the entire staff, like chickens with a cut head, TOTALLY CLUELESS. When I got home, gave the entire thing to the back alley dogs, minus the only pieces I ate So I pay almost 500 thb for 1 piece of something resembling a pizza and the rest was dog food

Peppers Restaurant & Bakery is a charming family-owned gem nestled in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. Drawing on years of hospitality experience from Germany, Mexico, and the USA, this establishment prides itself on delivering authentic Western cuisine while ensuring freshness and quality are never compromised. Although it’s not a street food venue, Peppers boasts an eclectic menu that showcases dishes inspired by various culinary traditions.
The authentic and affordable Western cuisine in Ubon. The location is easy to find, not far away from the airport. There is not a lot of parking spots but I think you can park on the side of the road. The burritos are good, as well as the burrito bowl, which brings the taste of Mexico to Ubon. The other Western style food like these Baked potatoes and pies are also available. It’s a little bit more expensive than average Thai food, but for Western food, it’s a decent price, around 200-300 Baht per person. Overall, a good meal with good service.

I went to this place based on good reviews.DO NOT make the same mistake I did. They got my drink wrong to start. Then, as you want poached eggs it will be 5 more minutes...10 minutes later, we have no sausages, I'm not pleased but they carry on. Not 1 person in this shop and I waited 40 minutes for 2 poached eggs and grilled streaky bacon. The owner, the American guy, disappeared. No taking responsibility for this guy. This ruined my day. If you have any sense, stay away, like it looks everybody else does.

The new location had ample parking day or night. As a burrito snob, they won me over to the Sante Fe style with a good tortilla and well balanced stuffing of good ingredients. Everything tasted very fresh. The soup had a rich and deep flavor. I will go back to try the burger and pizza soon. The two girls working were nice and did a great job.

5 stars for this restaurant serving mostly european and american dishes. But they do serve Asian food, too. The food is very good and close to western taste. One remark... the lasagna has to get more pasta and white sauce than minced meat... Service is top and the restaurant itself very comfortable with enough space for eating calmly. The boss is friendly and supervises everything to meet the needs of the customer. A very good and sure value.
Oliver K — Google review
OK. The new location is open and still cooking the same menu we are accustomed to and have grown to love. It is looking to be a great move, as the reservoir area surrounding the restaurant would seem to have a lot of long-term potential. They are still doing some renovations to the building, so the first time we visited, there was a paint smell like that which we were trying to get away from at our new house that is similarly undergoing work. The next time they were repairing the fancy multi-directional A/C unit .The quesadilla, however, was excellent. Not the best I have ever had (that would ironically be at a bar in Hong Kong and not in the US or Mexico, but I digress), but it is right up there with them all and such a treat to be able to get this delicious dish in Ubon. Went back again for lunch, since it is only a few minutes from our new house, and got the schnitzel. Not up to the usual standards, with the breading falling off, cutlet a bit too thick, but still a treat to get here in Ubon, and I am hoping the transition to the new location is to blame for the variance. We want to delve more into the bakery menu going forward, since the kids love fresh bread, and they sell the ever popular banana bread that we eat on a regular basis (stiff competition here in Ubon, though, so we shall see). We haven’t eaten the pizza yet, but plan to do so, and if it is delish as we expect, will make it our go to for Friday pizza and movie night. In summary, glad to see this place is still here for our blended Thai-American family. Earlier post: Went to eat there today and it is closed. Seems they have moved to a place farther north of the city, but it is not clear if it has all the Western menu items. They were not open when we dropped by the new location, so not sure.

We came here as it was recommended by Lonely Planet. Unfortunately a bit disappointing on the first visit and a great disappointment on the second (and last) visit, won’t be coming here again!! The staff don’t speak any English (I mean not even “Hi” and “Thanks”), so difficult to ask or got answers or explanations etc. But unfortunately don’t even say hi and thank you in Thai either. First time around, I had the stir fried macaroni with squid and my wife the stir fried noodles with chicken and basil. Both dishes were a really smallish portion (and not just to Thai/Asian standards), and the taste well was Ok really, definitely not the best noodles, and the stir fried macaroni, though an interesting idea, was rather blunt and “fade”, missing flavors etc. We came back again because Lonely Planet has mentioned the Ox cheeks stew as their specialty! And I wanted to try it out. I ordered the Ox cheek stew, and my wife prefer the rice with stir fried chicken with garlic and pepper. My dish was a cold stew of Ox tongue! It was a wrong translation to English. That’s not the worst that could happen (and I’ll probably blame Lonely Planet more than the restaurant for this point), but the stew was cold! The steamed vegetables were super blunt and didn’t go with the dish at all!! Absolute disappointment. My wife had some tiny pieces of deep fried chicken, not much of a trace of pepper or garlic, not visually, nor on the taste buds.. despite being a simple dish, this was a complete disappointment too. The place has probably potential (ingredients tasted fresh & a big choice in the menu, on paper) but unfortunately a very bad experience as of now...

Buddhist temple
Place of worship
Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram, also known as Wat Si Thong, is a captivating temple that offers visitors a glimpse into the spiritual heart of Ubon. Home to the revered Phra Kaew Butsarakham, Thailand's largest topaz Buddha image, this sacred site has deep historical roots dating back to its founding when it was brought from Vientiane.
This temple is the place where Phra Ajaan Mun Phurithatto was ordained as a monk at the age of 23, with the religious name “Phurithatto”, which means “the one who spreads wisdom”.

Ubon Ratchathani National Museum is a small yet impressive museum located south of Thung Si Meuang Park. It houses a remarkable collection of archaeological finds from the surrounding area, including exquisite Khmer stone carvings and rare old Issan artifacts. Visitors can also admire regional handicrafts such as artful textiles and traditional musical instruments.
National Museum of Ubonratchatani is recommended to visit for more understanding of it's History since pre-historic time until modern day Thailand. It takes only 1-2 hours to walk around and enjoy history lessons

Note: The museum is only open twice a week, ( Sunday and Wednesday I was told. Best to call). The renovated museum is housed in the former city hall building which dates back to the late 1800’s. The building itself is a beautiful example of architecture from that time period. The museum itself was a pleasant surprise with its professional displays and lighting along with the information nicely printed in Thai and English. The rooms follow a chronological history time line. The artifacts on display from the ancient Khmer Empire,(found at various ruins), are truly priceless and the old Buddhist statues are amazing to see. The whole museum is full of interesting information but not over whelming. It took me an hour to causally go through all the displays and read most of the captions. It’s definitely worth a visit. Note: Foreigners pay more than 20 baht which is the Thai entrance fee. พิพิธภัณฑ์ที่ให้ข้อมูลดีมากพร้อมการจัดแสดงระดับมืออาชีพ

Really lovely museum with eleven exhibition rooms organised around two courtyards. Originally used as the City Hall, it was built in 1918 in Western Colonial architectural style and opened as the national museum in 1989. Moving from room to room in a clockwise direction the exhibition is organised in chronological order. It starts with Prehistoric periods with archeological finds of artifacts, many from the caves at Ta Lao. Then moves onto the historic periods; Dvaravati, Angkor and Thai-Lao civilisations. The Khmer influence on artistic development is very evident in the carvings displayed. Don't miss perhaps the highlight piece in this collection: "The only sitting Ardhanarishvara sculpture in SE Asia". This region was noted for the very fine craftmanship of it's textiles as noted by King Rama V who acted as agent for their woven silk cloths. Plenty of english text in the museum describing the items and three videos also available in English. Admission 100 Baht

Wat Tai Phrachao Yai Ong Tue, located in Ubon Ratchathani Province, is an ancient temple that was once a place of meditation for Phra Ajarn Sao Kantasilo and Phra Ajarn Man Phurithatto. This temple houses a revered Buddha image, one of the five esteemed ones in Thailand.
This is one temple highly recommended to visit as I been to most in the area. It has lots if highly detailed statues with many vibrant colors in several worshipped buildings

Nicely build Thai Buddhist temple. Just middle of Ubon Rachatani. The most eastern of city in Thailand. Will come again

For me this is perhaps the most interesting Temple in Ubon city. Lots of Buddha Statues and sculptures of mythical creatures. It was built in 1779. Do climb the steps of the rounded white building, inside is a shrine and beautiful star studed blue ceiling.

Nice Wat with many structures and a Chedi from where you have a nice view over Ubon Ratchathani. Its origin has to be seen in 1779 and over the years 100's of Buddhas of diverse styles have been placed on the site which makes it special.

หมก is a Thai fine dining restaurant located inside an old Thai house. The place is beautifully decorated and has a good vibe, offering delicious cuisine made with high-quality ingredients. Some go-to dishes include pickled sea bass with pineapple, salted egg stew, tom yum goong with rice, fried pork, crab egg chili paste, crab and betel curry. However, the service may be lacking at times.

Very tasty modernized E-San, Thai and Local food. Every plate must have passed a lot of trial and error to be this good and balance. Food portion is a little bigger than most of thai shared food.

I come here every quarter, and it never fails to impress me. This time, I brought friends to celebrate Christmas, and they were thoroughly impressed with Auntie Chef's cuisine. My go-to dishes are the pickled sea bass with pineapple (Kem Bak Nad) and salted egg stew, while my boyfriend prefers the tom yum goong with rice. During this visit, I tried the fried pork and crab egg chilli paste, and they were incredibly tasty. The glass noodle salad is a must-try; its mild flavour takes me back to the deliciousness of my childhood when salads weren't overly spicy. I can confidently recommend this restaurant when you're in Ubon Ratchathani province. Conveniently located not far from the airport, it's advisable to call and reserve, especially during holidays or for dinner.

Vietnamese restaurant
Indochine is a beloved Thai-Vietnamese fusion restaurant that has been delighting patrons for over half a century. Renowned for its signature dish, 'Kanom Tway Yuan,' this delightful snack features chewy flour topped with savory grilled pork. Another must-try is the 'Naem Nueng,' available in various sizes and served alongside fresh local vegetables and a special peanut sauce.
The best! This Vietnamese restaurant is so traditional and delicious. Still be my all-time favorite. The most popular dish is Nam Neung. If you’re new to this, I would recommend you to order wrapped by the restaurant. It’s much easier for you to eat. Another favorite dish goes to “Deef fried minced pork rolls”. That is so crispy. The price is above average from other vietnamese restaurant. But compared to quality, I think it’s worthy.

A delicious restaurant that you should visit at least once if you travel to Ubon Ratchatani. Mostly Vietnamese-style food. Especially, pork skewers wrapped in vegetables are delicious. Rice noodles are light and can be eaten by anyone.

I like the way that food combine the taste together to be perfect match. Chef has so much skills of cooking and detailing knowledge about each ingredient to create the paradised tasty without condiment. One main dish with condiment or sause creat the fabulous amazing taste. Should recommend for everyone who love fresh vegetables and Vietnamese food.

Indochine is a 90-year-old Vietnamese restaurant in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand’s easternmost province. It has a Michelin Bib Gourmand award and is featured in the 2023 and 2024 Michelin Guide. The restaurant offers tasty and affordable Vietnamese food, which is common in the area due to its proximity to Vietnam. The place is spacious, with indoor and outdoor seating, and has an adjoining bakery with excellent croissants and filled cruffins. The Bánh bèo, and the bánh cuốn with pork and mushroom fillings are highly recommended. A standout dish is the Chạo tôm, shrimp paste wrapped around sugar cane sticks and fried, served with a tangy dipping sauce. The bánh xèo, a turmeric-flavored rice flour pancake with bean sprouts, pork, and shrimp, is also very good. Indochine is a must-visit in Ubon Ratchathani. Long time family restaurant. I get used to Vietnamese food here than Udornthani. But lately I think the taste and raw material change, hardly have star fruit in Namnueng now, only green mango. The flour of Kanomtuay is also different. Miangtod is quite hard as well. Kanombueng doesn't look nice. People said that it's quite pricey.

Before today I would have given this 4 stars. I have the same meal everyday then suddenly the bill is higher !!! When I ask why, they say prices increased, but they not show new prices on the menu. This is BAD customer service, in Europe you would be legally obliged to charge the menu cost, not a figure you made up later.
Miles M — Google review
The food is good but the portions are maybe smaller than most restaurants. You might pay more than you thought because they raised prices but didn’t change the prices on the menu -a classic Chinese tactic. The food is overpriced to begin with but to then have to pay 30% more means that I will never return to this restaurant.

Hands-down the best meal we had in all of Issan. The fish larb was incredible, as was the Som Tam (made with only 1 chili for us sensitive tourists!). Absolutely divine!

Really nice staff and the food was super tasty. The menu is in Thai only but we knew about their signature dishes: Som Tum (papaya salad) and Gai Yang (bbq chicken) and the table next to us was eating Chinese style noodles with egg which we got as well. With 1 sticky rice, 1 beer and 1 bag of fried banana chips everything came to 345 baht - which is pretty reasonable! The papaya salad is fire even if you ask for “nit noi” (a little) spicy so beware if you’re not keen on spicy foods. Isaan food in general is extra hot :) The restaurant also sells packaged foods to go and their delicious homemade sauces. Great place, very spacious and I’d definitely return! We had no trouble finding a table or being served at 2pm because it wasn’t busy but I can imagine this place can be packed around dinnertime.

300 Grams Butcher and Restaurant is an establishment that specializes in offering freshly cut meat that hasn't been frozen. The quality of the meat is exceptional, with a delicious taste and a pleasant aroma. The steaks are expertly grilled to perfection, preferably medium rare, making them an ideal choice to accompany a glass of red wine. This eatery has gained popularity due to its outstanding service and has become a regular spot for many patrons.
Fantastic service from our waiter, and a very beautiful meal. My boyfriend loved his French wine and said the steak was cooked perfectly. A lovely atmosphere in the restaurant also. We had a great date night! Highly recommend.

There weren't many waiters, but they could communicate in English. The food was delicious. I ordered mashed potatoes, lamb chops and some steaks, and was very satisfied.

What a find! Highly recommend. Surely the best steakhouse in Ubon Ratchathani. Dry aged beef, perfect service and excellent wine selection. All for reasonable prices, unbelievably good and tasty. However, it might not be suitable for thai people looking for Thai food, but farang who are craving for perfect meat: you need to come here, full stop. Mandatory for every visit in Ubon! ♥️🙏🙂👍

Really great experience here. The steak was super tasty and the beef tongue with yuzu egg was perfectly super tender Loved the coconut creme bulee is smooth not too eggy All staff were lovely and super friendly service was excellent. Great vibes and good music definitely coming back

Went with the family here yesterday. We had a wide selection of the foods and a nice bottle of Rosso. Anything was so delicious and just melted in our mouths, there was not one thing we ordered which didn't meet expectations. The pictures in the menu were, unlike many other places in Thailand, not overselling. 5 stars on food presentation and taste. While I understand it can be difficult to have everything on the menu available, they might consider cutting down on the range instead of showing a menu with one third of the options unavailable. Service, though a little inexperienced, was attentive and they made an effort of talking english with me even several thai people in the party. While the location can be viewed as a big container from the outside, they have done a great job with decorations and ambience so the feeling when inside is taking you on a trip far from Thailand. The music was at a suitable level and there was a spot for live sessions which i believe will only add to the overall experience when in use. All in all a great finer dining experience, of which I haven't found many in Ubon. Will definitely come back and recommend any to go.

Beautiful restaurant and the food is outstanding. I would highly recommend this place to you.

Very good, modern Western restaurant. They specialize on steaks. And they do a very good job. The place is spacious. Modern, cool atmosphere. A very good wine selection. Prices are reasonable. My steak was slightly over cooked. Just a little bit. But still very good. There is parking in front of the place. If the place is busy it’s probably hard to find parking. But you can still park on the street.

Wat Si Pradu is a unique and beautiful temple located in Thung Si Meuang park. The main attraction is a 22-meter-tall statue at the center of the park, surrounded by accompanying deities that bring it to life. The temple features stunning murals on its walls, both inside and out.
A newer temple with a different style, a sloping roof from front to back. The murals inside are absolutely beautiful. It is a little out of the way from the city center but it must be on your list!

Nestled along the banks of the Mun River in Ubon Ratchathani Province, Wat Klang is a hidden gem that dates back to 1782. If you find yourself in Ubon, make sure to stop by Utthayan Bunniyom, a charming vegan haven that offers more than just meals. This delightful complex features a restaurant, juice bar, shop, and market—all inspired by local monks aiming to provide affordable food for everyone. The unique dining experience here revolves around the concept of limited offerings; there's no fixed menu and once the daily dishes are sold out—usually by 11 am—you'll have to wait until the next day!
Best vegan place, just soooo much good food. Basically everything is healthy! Every dish taste unique and well prepared. Btw dont expect to pay more than 30 to 40 baht for your plates. And definitely taste the juices, they are super healthy! Best thing that can happen to you!

Completely Vegan Buddhist restaurant open mostly in morning hours. I came at noon for lunch on Sunday and they were out of most food items. Still had a great meal, and incredibly inexpensive. Most meals were just 25 Baht and drinks 10 Baht. Lots of snacks, and outside there was a fresh fruits and vegetables market.

A place where food runs put by 11am so you should know how popular and affordable it is for the locals. Came here too at 12.30pm and left with a few vegetable dishes. Highly recommended local vegetarian eating place. Came here next day around 7.30am. Most dishes are ready around 7.45am onwards. There is also desserts, vegetables and fruits smoothies. Lucky to come again second time.

What a pleasant surprise :) peaceful hut style atmosphere, older aunties welcoming & serving you with their big warm smiles, generous portions & yes, somehow limited variety (about 8 types of curries left at noon, come earlier than me!) but it’s healthy and delicious. 50B gets you a generous tofu based soup & 3 curries rice. Simple, unpretentious & lovely. Take a moment to read about Bunniyom Buddhist principles and you’ll live a special holistic kinda experience.
CJ T — Google review
Nice people. A lot of vegetarian foods & drinks. People don't eat any kind of meat here. Products are from local people.

This place is run by vegetarian Chinese and is the cheapest and best place to get vegan / vegetarian food in Ubon. However, they stop serving food once it has run out and usually close the restaurant around 2 pm in the afternoon. It is also self-service. You will need to get a tray and walk to the various food stations and dish up what you want and then go pay. It also boasts a shop in the back where you can buy their delicious homemade juices, vegetarian curry pastes, vegetarian vitamin supplements, coconut oil anything and a wide variety of other health products at great prices.

Agave Vietnamese Cuisine & Cafe is a delightful haven for food lovers seeking authentic Vietnamese flavors. This charming eatery prides itself on crafting fresh dishes from scratch, including delectable fish noodles, grilled pork, and mouthwatering fish cakes. Their spring rolls are a must-try, offering a perfect balance of taste and texture. One standout dish is the 'Khao Jee Pork Skewers,' which creatively combines local ingredients into a waffle format served with spicy sauce—an experience that will leave you craving more.
All dished are well prepared, if u need more hot and spicy, do cut some chili and added in the dishes. Be careful this pale chilies are burning ones. Banana flowers salad is refreshing. Fish noodles soup is really good, the noodles were made from fishes. Ice cream is not impressive and a little bit too expensive.

The experience here of dining was a great one with live music playing in the background and absolutely delicious food. It is a place that is easy to relax in and enjoy the atmosphere. Our total bill was close to 1000 bhat which was completely reasonable for the quality of food which was some meat loaf, pineapple fried rice and Tom yum soup and a cocktail. I loved this place and would defiantly come back here. The friendly engaging staff should also be mentioned just because their customer service was excellent. Thankyou for making our dinner so nice here everyone.

Santi Restaurant is a renowned Thai-Chinese eatery in Ubon, highly regarded by locals and backed by media accolades. They are known for their distinctive spare pork rib stir-fried with chili, setting them apart from the competition. While their menu offers various options, this dish is an absolute must-try. Santi Restaurant prides itself on delivering excellent food, top-notch service, and great value for money.
Very popular local restaurant. I don’t normally give five stars for a review. It really have to be fantastic to earn that But this one, I rated them five stars Since I stated in Ubon for 6 nights, I had dinner there every night. Staff didn’t speak English much. But they were helpful and friendly, they tried hard to communicate with me. Food was very good, 3 dishes every night by myself and no one single dish repeated. Many choice and very good price. Highly recommend

An unassuming local eatery opens until late night with Michelin that sounds promising but disappointing The fish was not fresh with mushy texture, while moo krop was hard. Gongpo chicken is a flop in terms of taste Not even worth a 4 star on Google Maps

The affordable Michelin restaurant that we come back many times. Parking is available at the back. Most dishes are Thai-Chinese style, and tasty

One of the best restaurant in Ubon. This restaurant also is recognized by Michelin bib gourmand in 2023 and 2024. Food here is so tasty and service is super fast. Follow the recommended dishes and you will have such a great meal. Will definitely be back again!

A lot of delicious dishes are here with reasonable price. The free parking space is behind the store.

Famous boil rice meals of Ubon. Not enough staffs when I went there. A bit difficult to call waiters.

My favorite dish is here! This is Thai-Chinese restaurant that very well-known by local. And reputation guarantee by many media. But you’ve gotten to believe me that they only produce one dish that differentiates themself from others. You can order anything, but one dish that you cannot missed is the spare pork rib stir fried with chili. Every time I come back to work in Ubon and this dish is the only thing that kept me alive.
