Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Chanthaburi

Mentioned on
12 lists
Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Chanthaburi is a remarkable gothic-style Catholic church established in 1909, featuring two towering spires and a striking statue of the Virgin Mary. It is renowned as one of Thailand's largest Catholic cathedrals and an architectural marvel.
Very nice and beautiful Roman style cathedral. You have to use the side entrance to get in. Parking possible right next to the cathedral, pay 20B per car. The parking lot was quite busy and always full or almost full. Surroundings: Nice little restaurants and cafes in the area. Unfortunately there were no flyers or pan flips explaining the history or the place and it’s renovations available in English

On the road from Koh Chang to Pattaya, I finally stopped in Chanthaburi — a town I’d passed many times before. In a Buddhist country, this Catholic cathedral feels both unexpected and reverent. Not as grand as Notre-Dame in Paris, nor as ornate as Sagrada Família in Barcelona, but quietly beautiful in its own way. There’s a quiet strength here — modest, solid, and sincere. A place to pause in the middle of a journey, to reflect on myself and the time I've been traveling through.
Jaei M — Google review
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Chanthaburi is a very nice and peaceful place. It's next to a river, which makes it very tranquil. Outside, there's a big statue of the Virgin Mary where people pray and leave offerings. There are also other Catholic buildings and statues nearby. It's a perfect place to find peace and quiet.
UEM — Google review
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Chanthaburi is a magnificent neo-Gothic church and one of the most significant in Thailand. Consecrated in 1909, it is renowned for its twin spires and stunning interior which features a statue of the Virgin Mary adorned with hundreds of thousands of local sapphires. A testament to the area's Vietnamese Catholic community and French missionary history, it remains a vital spiritual center and an essential stop for any visitor to Chanthaburi, perfectly paired with a visit to the nearby Chanthaboon Waterfront Community.
Parasu B — Google review
Beautiful Catholic cathedral in Chantaburi province. I'm not Christian myself, so I can't really explain how they preach in the church. From aesthetic perspective, this place is absolutely majestic and detailed from how this place is designed and decorated with mosaic glass and stuccos from the interior. From exterior, this place looks relatively way more minimalistic compared to the inside of the cathedral, similar to an average Catholic church that has decently decorated exterior but extremely detailed interior.

We visited The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Chanthaburi. It is a significant religious and historical landmark. It is the largest Catholic church in Thailand and serves as the seat of the Diocese of Chanthaburi. The cathedral was originally built in the late 19th century, with construction starting in 1909 and completed in 1911. It was established to serve the growing Catholic community in the region, which was largely influenced by French missionaries who arrived in the area during the 17th century. The cathedral features a neo-Gothic architectural style, characterized by its pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses. Its two prominent spires reach a height of about 24 meters, making it a recognizable landmark in Chanthaburi. The cathedral not only serves as a place of worship but also symbolizes the historical presence of Catholicism in Thailand. It reflects the cultural exchanges between Thai society and European colonizers, especially during the colonial era when French missionaries played a crucial role in evangelizing the region. During World War II, the cathedral was a refuge for many people fleeing from conflict, showcasing its role as a community center beyond just religious functions. Over the years, the cathedral has undergone various restorations and renovations to preserve its structure and accommodate the growing congregation. It remains an active parish church and a focal point for Catholic activities in Thailand. Today, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is not only a place o worship but also an important cultural and historical site that attracts both pilgrims and tourists. Its beautiful architecture and rich history make it a significant landmark in Chanthaburi.

We went there late in the afternoon and it was closed. We walked around the perimeter and the weather was great. The church was beautiful.

International Gems Market Chanthaburi

Mentioned on
1 list
Market
The International Gems Market Chanthaburi is a renowned attraction that draws traders from around the world to Gem Road, also known as Sri Chan Road, on Fridays and weekends. The market showcases precious gemstones from Thailand and beyond, attracting both professionals and curious tourists. While it's not recommended for non-experts to engage in trading, observing the bustling activity of buyers, brokers, runners, and sellers can be quite fascinating.
If you’re gem seller or interested in gemstones, should visit this market. It’s mainly operated on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Khin H — Google review
The gam and jewelry market in Chantaburi province Thailand. This is the market where sellers and buyers from across the world come to trade their gems. It's a real buzzing market, seller will walk around with their Fannie bags, while buyers will have a table with note, noting down what they are looking to buy. It's very interesting how the system of this market works. You can buy gem stone in bulk or individual. You can find unpolished stone, polish, shine stone as well as jewelry. This market is easily the icon on Chantaburi province and even if you are not into jewelry, it is educational to learn about this market.
Katethip V — Google review
WHAT A FUN EXPERIENCE!!! The gem market is initially what drew me to Chanthaburi & it was well worth the adventure. Such a fun group of sellers, all with amazing gems to sell. It was so fun to pick out my favorite pieces to take home. Thank you for an afternoon I will never forget!
McKenna B — Google review
I'v been here 7 times, it's great! If you are a first time buyer go to the surrounding shops with displayed gems to get a ballpark pricing first. Often the price for the gem is displayed at those shops, Vinny Jewelry on 165 Benchamarachuthis Rd is a good place to start. If you sit down at the intersection corner most agents (sellers) will start like 10x the actual value so please bargain. My first day I bought nothing just negotiated to see what prices where. Many blue sapphires in Chanthaburi are actually Kyanite and you got to have some basic knowledge to be able to properly identify stones. Some prices I got, most gems I bought where 1-4ct: decent rough red-pink (uncut) garnet is abut 20-50bath/ct, rough facet grade rainbow moonstone is about 1USD/g rough facet grade amethyst is about 1.5usd/g lots of glass filled rubies so didn't buy any at all. facetted sphene is 120-150bath per ct included cut pink spinel 30 nice pink spinel 250-380 bath per ct Only bought nice gems with some inclusions because then I can easier identify them. Eye clean gems here can be synthetic. got a nice aquamarine for 30 bath per ct. copper tourmaline where about 200 bath per ct. good iolite was 100 bath per ct. heated blue topaz 100 bath per ct, very clean. natural topaz with nice needle inclusions 20bath per ct tanzanite 200 bath per ct lots of inclusions natural clear zircon 120 bath per ct decent turquise apatite 140 abth per ct scapolite/andasine 75 bath per ct, good quality. clean clear 4ct red garnet 125 per ct. tri colour flourite 50bath per ct nice spessartite 200 bath per ct high quality black star sapphire with perfect 6 star 160 bath per ct large pyrite specimen 200 bath. nice fanta garnet 200-250 bath per ct. loupe clean citrine 50bath per ct. opaque gemstones that are supposed to be clear are mostly worthless so don't pay heaps for a opaque ruby or sapphire. Do yourself a favour and buy a uv torch, a "Noble" torch, a magnet, a loupe, a dichroscope and a spectroscope at the equipment shop close by, very good prices. with those tools you can identify most gems. the Refractometer is a bit to bulky to carry around. One of those diamond testers is useful to test density (or thermal conductivity). For buying rough gemstones I found the African shops in the area better all over since they are often the source of many gems in the area, mostly cut stones here. Friday and Saturday is best. Sunday later is ok. Mr leekh at the corner is kind and good to sit with, speaks English well. He never asked for commission to sit at his table, I guess the sellers pay the commission. happy hunting!
Lea B — Google review
Good experience. Feels a little dodgy with people asking you constantly to buy. However, we were lucky to find one that wasn't too pushy. The local area and the waterfront are quite interesting for sightseeing.
Carl C — Google review
It's the biggest gems selling market in Thailand, very interesting place when you go there to see how people trade their gems to mostly Indian buyers and Chinese. It looks like they are trying to sell an illegal things lol. Everybody has their little shoulder pockets and looks so serious and trying to sell you their gems.
Pasan S — Google review
Colorful of gems stone make me feel hungry and thinking to some dessert.... look beautiful and amazing... there are open on weekends only i go there in fridays and what's a lucky they to saw something like this
Anna K — Google review
This is a large indoor gems market for professional gem traders. Not really a tourist destination, as there's nothing here to see for tourists.

The community is situated along the Mae Nam Chanthaburi river and boasts a mix of Thai, Chinese, French, and Vietnamese architectural styles. Amazing community, ancient stories house and village such a great way of life. Long street of Community Walking Street is filled with local foods, snacks, varieties of cafe, souvenir and the ending of great ancient cultures.

Long street ,with some traditional old buildings turned into boutique hotels .It still has some charm, though .Has a small old boat noodles restaurant with is a must visit ,it closes at 4.30pm ,where it has tiny 9bt bowls of different types of noodles .Most places were closed by 5.00pm

Very nice trad community next to river. Plenty of restaurants and coffee. Can see big fish and snake in river. Good views. Romantic.

The Chantaboon Waterfront Community is a peaceful and beautiful area. It's one of the nicest parts of town to walk around. It's a great, easy-to-access spot that connects well to the rest of the city. More investment in the riverside would make it even better.
UEM — Google review
A beautiful mix of history and calm riverside life. The old wooden houses, cafés, and small alleys make it one of the most atmospheric places in Chantaburi. Walking here feels like stepping back in time, yet the community is still alive with music, art, and everyday life. For me, this spot was more than just sightseeing — I actually filmed one of my acoustic cover performances here, and the quiet charm of the alleys gave it a unique soul. If you love photography, music, or simply slow travel, this place has endless inspiration.”
Chris J — Google review
A small alley where time seems to linger. After the rain, the river turns a deep shade of brown, slow and heavy. It wasn’t quite the scene I had imagined — less charm, more stillness. Some parts feel quiet to the point of being forgotten. Honestly, if not for the coffee at C.A.P, I might have left a little disappointed. Still, the scenery holds a kind of faded uniqueness. Not a must-see, but if you're in Chanthaburi, it’s worth a short walk.
Jaei M — Google review
Excellent old street and historical building. Should support local shops. Come by walk from Cathedal, so vintage. A lot of cafes and restaurants to try. Huge parking lots at Cathedal, 30 Bahts for parking.
Aki M — Google review
🏯🏚🏘 It was a nice place to have a visit for 1 or 2 hours, located by the river called "Chantaboon Reiver". There were many beautiful old style houses in the area, some restaurants, coffee shops and the souvenir shops(in case you want to buy something back home). The street wasn't that long and easy to stroll around. 🚗🚕🚎 For the parking, I suggest you to park at paid parking space next to the Cathedral and walk across the river. It's just 20 baht.

Shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Maharat Shrine, located in Chanthaburi, Thailand, is a significant historical site commemorating King Taksin's legacy. The shrine features a monument displaying the king's real sword and hosts an annual 'lifting the king sword' ceremony inside its main hall. Built in 1991 next to the original wooden shrine from 1920, this landmark offers visitors a glimpse into Thailand's rich history and is well worth a visit for history enthusiasts.
King Taksin the Great, who freed and saved Siam (former Thailand) from the ancient Burmese invasion. He had stopped here in Rayong during his rally to liberate the Kingdom of Ayutthaya from the ancient Burmese army. The legend has it that King Taksin the Great’s elephant was stabled at a large Parkia tree, which is in front of the shrine. This is a well-regarded place locals and Chinese visitors come to pray for lucks, especially during Chinese New Year and on December 28th, which is King Taksin Day.

The Shrine dedicated to the late King Taksin. This shrine offer the opportunity for Thais and foreigners to worship the late King and pray respects. This Shrine is very well maintain and beside the late King Taksin, there's also many other Buddhist duties for believer to come and worship. In the Shrine, there's a sword of the late King, a sword age more than 200 years old and it's open for public to take picture with the sword

It is very good place for doing exercise in the morning and evening. It has nice grass, different flowers, nice pavement and big lake. "Good health is your first wealth." Highly recommended place for doing walking or jogging exercises.
Dragon G — Google review
It's Chanthaburians' main public park. When I was young, I jogged here with my mum a couple of days a week, and I could remember this atmosphere. And now I jog here again after 10 years (COVID has asked me to come home for 3 months already). People here are nice and friendly as always – happy to know many people love exercises. I notice that two things have changed: water here is much smelly, and there is a brand-new running track (2-km). It's better/milder for our joints and safer to run.

Military Museums
The National Maritime Museum is situated about 5 km from the city center of Chanthaburi. Established in 1994 near Khai Noen Wong, it showcases underwater antiques from Tha Chalaep and offers a well-constructed exhibit detailing the maritime history of the city and its surroundings. The museum features a remarkable collection of cannons along the rampart, providing insight into the area's coastal history.
The museum is about all maritime history of trading in Siam. With all vessels that have been used in Siam. It is located up at the mountain in the old camp fort called Neon Wong fortress which was built in 1834. King Rama III of Siam in Siamese - Vietnamese war campaign. You can explore the old watch tower and the old brick wall which there were still canons on the walls. One of interesting is the display that educated about underwater archeology of how/ history of old goods that were found under the sea bed in gulf of Thailand. The highlight is big model of junk boat 1:1 which people can climb up and learn how it operate in the past. And the last is the history of King Taksin campaign after the defeated of Ayutthaya. How he became the king of Siam in those time. Unfortunately some of the materials shows very old and not proper maintenance. Hopefully any authority will manage budget for support this for tourists and students have better place for learn.

Very good museum. I spent 2 hrs inside read everything. My kids loved it so much especially the big wooden boat. The entrance fee only 20 THB for adult. Kids and elderly person are free.

Be prepared that there is no air conditioning in the museum. If is hot 🥵 But the museum is well very okay for to do. Well done 👌👍😊
Jhonny B — Google review
The museum entrance fee was too high for foreigners so we walked the rampart for 1500 yards with cannon most of the way. Greatest number of cannon collection I have ever seen. The wall around the old city is mostly intact. Awesome history here and along the coast 30 minutes away. I just don't understand why they discriminate against visitors to their country and overcharge their guests who want to learn about their country. It is opposite of how the people and culture should be.

Phlio Waterfall National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Park
Namtok Phlio National Park spans over an area of 52 square miles and boasts lush rainforests, streams, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife. Visitors can easily access a striking waterfall through well-constructed steps for a small admission fee while being assisted by friendly staff at clean restrooms. However, the trails on the opposite side of the waterfall are challenging to navigate due to moss-covered rocks which makes it dangerous without proper preparation.
Beautiful waterfall with flourishing forest alongside the pathway. This natural park center around Phlio waterfall (น้ำตกพลิ้ว) produces streams into a river in Chantaburi (จันทบุรี) along tropical rainforest throughout the pathway to the main waterfall as the final destination. The pathway is paved with concrete for better walkability except a few areas like streams shoreline and the waterfall itself that's mainly consists of large stone piece from the mountain that you need to be careful to be able to navigate properly. Would recommend for those who enjoy walking in a natural park or simply want to enjoy playing in waterfall water, which are decently cold and very clean with some fish to suck of your toes for food too. (The fish is Neolissochilus stracheyi to be specific)
09 ( — Google review
It’s good and well organised, I just expected more trails. However the Thais don’t seem interested in them! Beware that there is no public transportation at this site. I started the 3.5 hour walk back to Chanthabury and eventually a lovely Thai couple picked me up, thank God. It was 34C and no clouds.
Stephen D — Google review
One of the nearby waterfall attractions, popular with the locals. Good thing it wasn't a long and rough hike, just 300 metres. Some of those fishes are bigass huge actually, and the big ones leave us alone. Water was really cooling and quite enjoyable for a hot day.
Rio W — Google review
Very nice waterfall, been there un the past and just came back for another visit. There are also a small natural pool where several teens were swimming in. There are also rocks where you can sit and put your feet in the water and small fishes will nibble on your feet, some people said it feels ticklish. The park doesn't allow you to bring food or drinks in. There's a picnic table you can consume all your food and drinks or put them on a shelf and reclaim on your way out. Overall the park is really clean (no garbage) and the staffs are nice. I've been to this park in the past and will most likely return in 5 or so years to watch the waterfall again.
Khammy P — Google review
A hidden gem in Chanthaburi! Nam Tok Phlio National Park is such a beautiful and refreshing escape into nature. The waterfall is stunning, especially after the rain — strong, clear, and surrounded by lush greenery. The trail to the waterfall is easy and well-maintained, perfect for a relaxing hike. I loved seeing the fish swimming around the base of the falls, and the air felt so fresh and cool. There’s also a small pagoda and historical monument that add a cultural touch to the visit. Great for nature lovers, families, or anyone looking to unwind.
Robin E — Google review
If you're daring & don't mind a few giant spiders, take the nature trail. If you rather not, the road will take you strait to the waterfall. A spectacular view!

Chanthaburi River front Community ชุมชนเก่าแก่ ริมแม่น้ำจันทบุรี

Historical society
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Chanthaburi Waterfront Community ชุมชนเก่าแก่ ริมแม่น้ำจันทบุรี is a charming riverside neighborhood with restored houses and elderly residents sharing stories of the town's history. The area dates back 300 years to the arrival of Chinese and Vietnamese merchants, leaving cultural imprints on the buildings. Visitors can explore the Learning House, showcasing neighborhood photos and architectural designs.
Fact is there’s not a whole lot to do in the city of Chanthaburi, Thailand. So finding this strip along the river is a welcome relief. There’s a history to this area and the short story is Thais, Chinese and Vietnamese coexisted in this part of town which is why you’ll see influences of each culture through food, architecture as well as religion. There are lots of cafés, restaurants and cozy little hotels, some overlooking the river. I can imagine this area is busiest on weekends and finding parking space can be a real pain. Most of the restaurant/bars open in the evening but the smaller restaurants are open through the day. It’s a small narrow lane so be careful of motorbikes and cars. You can walk the entire waterfront lane, it’s only about 300 or 400 meters.
W. C — Google review
A nicely preserved historic area. It's great to see some of the old buildings being well cared for. If you like architecture this is an interesting area to explore. There's also many cafes, food stalls and street art here. You can walk across the bridge to visit the Roman Catholic church too. The only problem is that it's very narrow and the road is still open to cars- it needs to be pedestrianised.
Katie B — Google review
Community dates from 300 years ago when Chinese and Vietnamese merchants arrived. Buildings still bear their cultural imprint. Lots of eateries by the river and a good place to base yourself for exploring Chanthaburi. They should pedestrianize the main road though - pesky motorbikes!
Vietem — Google review
I went in rainy season and many Shop are closed from Covid-19. This area was much quiet and nice place.
Pacharanat P — Google review
I was expecting to see unique architecture reflecting the different cultures here. But there were no such buildings. It just looks like any other Thai street with only a couple of traditional houses left. This street is very commercialised too, lined on both sides with all kinds of shops, cafes and restaurants. This place is catered to domestic tourism. Do NOT expect to see any English menus anywhere. It's pleasant to stroll in it and eat some street food here. But it's not worth a special trip just to see this place.
Catherine C — Google review
Its OK to visit if you're in the town but I wouldn't make a special journey. Quite a lot of shops are closed up. A few selling local-style snacks and food. A few coffee shops etc. Plenty of parking at the cathedral then just walk over the bridge..
Eric C — Google review
A pity walking there from the hotel was so unpleasant, not because of the distance but on account of having to come across main thoroughfares (no pedestrian crossing of course, vehicles accelerating when they notice you want to cross). All shops are closed on Sundays so plan your trip accordingly!

Peaceful location on the east side of Chanthaburi city, we were there to meet a monk and had time to walk the grounds and view temple buildings and the reclining Buddha. Large Buddha statue under construction near the entrance will be impressive when complete.
GC J — Google review
Nice visit stop when you are in Chanthaburi, large complex ground with three main buildings, however when we visit two of them were closed, only one open for visit which houses a large reclining Buddha. Parking is ample but not every door is open so if you come across a gate which is opened then go in and park. Good place for the locals to come and pray for good health and good luck.

Nice, beautiful old temple. Many Thais came to this temple to pray for good health, good fortune and good blessings. Below the temple, they provides Authentic and Traditional Thai Massage, charges between 500 BAHT to 800 BAHT for a 2 hours massage session per person, massage are done by male at the open area of the ground floor. The best massage I had ever had in Thailand. Opposite of this temple, there's a shop selling fish skin noodles soup. Price are definitely reasonable, fish skin is the best, plenty of others varieties of seafood available to choose.

Reclining Buddha, nice area with little Art gallery beside to visit. Open, no entrance fees. Try the food at little Shops beside the temple, was great.

Coffee shop
Koff House Coffee Bar & Eatery is an exquisite and secluded establishment that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings along the riverbank. The interior design impeccably matches the exterior, creating a harmonious atmosphere. This charming place comprises two halls, a delightful coffee shop, and a restaurant. The food is beautifully presented and served in generous portions, while also being delicious. What sets Koff House apart is its modest pricing, which doesn't resemble that of a typical restaurant.
Excellent establishment. Live music, good food, excellent service and fair prices. There is a good selection of beers, alcohols and wine. Prices are higher then typical Thai bar/restaurant, but fair all things considered. Been twice and it was enjoyable both times.

Stopped in for a quick bite on route to Koh Chang. Pleasantly surprised with the menu size & variety. Comfortable air-con seating by the river with covered parking & a large variety of dessert items available. We'll definitely return should the opportunity present itself.

A really great place in every way, clean and nice both inside and in the outdoor areas along the river. We sat in the building where the food is served, and it's not every day you see such beautifully decorated premises. Large menu with lots of good food and drinks, and friendly staff who took orders and served. Recommended. The place has covered parking.

Visited Koff House & Bar and tried their iced cappuccino, it was really good! The place has a separate bar and dining area, which makes it feel nice and spacious. Loved the fancy decor and chill vibe. Prices are pretty reasonable too. A great spot to hang out or grab a nice cup of coffee!

it is a very beautiful secluded place. It is very harmoniously fits its exterior and interior into the embankment of the river, on which it is located. Inside, everything is designed in the same style. There are two halls here: a coffee ☕️ and a restaurant 🥗. They serve food very nicely. Portions are average. Tasty. And the best part is the price tag is modest and not at all like in a restaurant. Highly recommended for dates! 💘

Chantorn Pochana is a renowned restaurant that has been serving local favorites and seasonal dishes for over 50 years. Some of their specialties include massaman durian with chicken and salad mang khut during specific months, while their signature dishes like sen chan pad poo and stir-fried cowpea with shrimp paste are available year-round. This establishment is a go-to place for traditional Thai cuisine and unique seasonal offerings.
Chantorn Pochana is a must-visit in Chanthaburi! The food is packed with authentic flavors, especially the “Massaman Curry with Durian” and deep-fried crab meat spring rolls. The atmosphere is simple but welcoming, and the service is fast and friendly. A perfect spot to experience local Thai cuisine at its best!

Interesting restaurant. We saw it featured on a video by Mark Weins and decided to give it a try. We went on two occasions. First visit we tried the Sautéed String Beans with Dried Shrimp and Shrimp Paste. This was texturally odd, very sweet, and didn’t taste like shrimp at all. It was not great. We also tried the Deep Fried Snapper with Chinese Celery. Again, it looked nothing like the photo on the menu, it tasted ok. Bland. Nothing special. Next, we tried the Stir “fired” Fish with Krawan (cardamom stems). This was recommended Mark Weins and it was delicious. A real stunner of a dish. On this visit, when we tried to pay, we found our bill was overcharged by 120TB. When we disputed the bill, there was a bit of commotion between our waiter, another waitress and the elderly woman behind the counter. It was eventually sorted out but be sure to check your bill for errors. During our second visit we both went for the Spicy Soup with Fish. This dish was very spicy and delicious. Highly recommended. The only criticism is that the two soups were uneven in ingredients. My wife got most of the little green peppercorns along with more greens and whatnot, so the plating was a bit haphazard. Service was casual and friendly. I take it this was an old Chinese market or something. They seem to have a small dry goods section and some bedding behind glass panels. Not sure what that’s all about, but it’s worth giving it a go as their menu has some gems.

Very generous with the pork, the taste is unique with the tomatoes. It's different from your usual Thai dishes. For the most part I enjoyed it. Nice service, I always enjoy coming to this restaurant.

We visited Chantaburi during long weekend and we have been told that this is one of Chantaburi oldest and famous restaurant. We dine during monsoon season and the restaurant has special deal, if we order more than three dishes and will receive free Chantorn fries egg. We ordered eight dishes and the food came very fast. Everything was absolutely delicious, aromatic and generous portions. The staff at this restaurant was really friendly and more than happy to help out with ordering and explaining what's the dishes are

It's quite a big kitchen, food come out very fast 👌👍, impressive! Everything is delicious. Many dishes are old recipes, quite rare to find somewhere still cook these dishes. Good tastes, very well balanced. My favourite dish is stir fried pork belly with shrimp paste (หมูผัดกะปิ). Very good quality of ingredients. Stired fried long green beans with dried shrimps and garlic (ถั่วฝักยาวผัดกุ้งแห้ง). The local long green beans are delicious. It's thin but crunchy and sweet. Deep fried crab meat spring rolls with sweet dipping sauce - mouthful of crab meat, good seasoning - delicious! (พล่าปลา) Thai Herbal fish meat salad with peanut sauce. The freshness of the Herbal is so fresh and so good. Everything is easy to chew, it means we'll prepared from the kitchen. Even lemongrass is very easy to chew. The peanut sauce is good taste, very well balanced. (น้ำมะปี๊ดโซดา) Fresh local Chantaburi mini orange juice with soda, it is very tasty. I think their mixing is the best in town. Highly recommend if you want to have truely Thai cuisine experience. Note: they don't sell Beers or alcohol. You can bring you own beers. If you forget, you can buy from somewhere nearby. I walked to the alley next to the restaurant down to the river and turn right. The local grocery store is on the left. Just grabbed a few cans and walked back to the the restaurant and enjoyed my food. Spicy food and beers - cheers!

Lollipop Wine Bar & Restaurant

Mentioned on

Italian restaurant
Lollipop Wine Bar & Restaurant is a delightful establishment with a welcoming atmosphere. It exudes an air of relaxation and sophistication, showcasing the expertise of its owner who received training at Cordon Bleu. The delectable dishes offered here bear the unmistakable influence of French cuisine. This place is a must-visit whenever one finds themselves in Chan.
The food is very delicious. Fine dining quality. The food doesn't take long to arrive. The portions are large and can be shared with many people. There is a wide selection of wines. The staff is friendly and the price is reasonable.
Karoon S — Google review
The pizza was made with frozen crust. The crust was uncooked properly, soggy with raw taste. Ordered creamy Pesto pasta, but the pasta served was not pesto but some kind of carbonara. The spaghetti bolognese have some weird sour taste to it. The pasta dishes also seem like pre-made. They just mix it when ordered.

Amazing quality food and drinks. Friendly staff and owners! Head chef is owner of the restaurant and also cordon bleu trained. Food is amazing tasting and drinks a plenty. Can’t wait to come back!

Best western breakfast I found in Chanthaburi, and it looks like they have good quality food for lunch and dinner too, as well as many wine and drink options. Make sure to ask Kwan for the "Traveler's Special" if you want the breakfast I had and show her the picture I'm adding here cause it's not exactly on the menu. This little restaurant is actually comfortable to sit in, A/C works well, and the place is clean with decent little design elements and a nice atmosphere. It's also a very short walk from the bus terminal and a scooter/car rental place close by.

We came quite early but we could feel how later in the evening there is a nice vibe. Food was very good! We are very happy we found this restaurant and you can feel they know what they're doing :) The Salmon Tartar- amazing and a must try!
Shira N — Google review
Gorgeous restaurant in a great location. The owners are so kind and friendly and speak fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese. The food is a beautiful take on some western classics (they do an all day brunch, even with baked beans and hash browns!). Their burgers are as gourmet as the ones you'd find in any gastropubs and the presentation of dishes like spaghetti is beautiful. There is a selection of classic Thai dishes too, and a brilliant selection of wine too. The cocktails are so fun and beautifully presented. If you go, try and catch the owners for a chat because they have family in the UK, the USA, Australia and Hong Kong - truly international. It's a great place to take aesthetic photos too, as the owners not only care deeply about the quality and service, but also about the atmosphere too. 10/10 place, I go every time I come to Chanthaburi!

I visited Latte Coffee House after having a disappointing Iced Latte elsewhere. I decided to give it another try and was pleased with the outcome. The second Iced Latte was enjoyable, and the Coconut cake had a delightful taste. The coffee shop offers an outdoor sitting area that overlooks the river, providing a pleasant view and comfortable bean bag seats. In general, this cafe is cozy and inviting, making me want to return tomorrow.
Love this cafe' due to nice location, closed to the river so you can sit whether indoor or outdoor which given difference experiences. Food taste also surprised me l. I love Pad Thai very much. Cushew nut stir fried is also unique. Coffee and toast is ok.

If you're exploring Chanthaburi, don't miss out on the delightful offerings at Si Chan, a well-known Muslim restaurant that serves an array of flavorful dishes. The menu features mouthwatering options like biryani rice with tender mutton, hearty oxtail soup, and savory beef kema. For breakfast enthusiasts, the Indian Tea is a must-try—though it leans more towards a simple tea and milk blend rather than traditional masala chai.
Halal restaurant in Chanthaburi, good taste, reasonable price, has a prayer room, parking is available in front of the shop, which is limited.
Tanaphol K — Google review
We came for breakfast. We tried the Indian Tea, which was similar to masala chai (but didn’t have the spices), it was just tea and milk. We also tried the Aloo Paratha (on the menu called Alo Pratha “Mataba”). This was more like a thin Roti vs Indian Paratha. Stuffed with potatoes and vegetables it also came with egg, which was unexpected, but tasty nonetheless. Mildly spiced. Their homemade yogurt is excellent, creamy and delicious. Staff is very friendly.

We came to eat here before about 3-4 years ago and at the time the food was really nice. Since then, I have lived in Italy as a local for 1 year and have eaten Italian food all over Italy. To then come back here and I ordered the bigoli pesto pasta and the pizza formaggi with home made dough, blew my mind taste buds away! Paired with a delicious Chianti, produced by a local Italian vineyard… the perfect meal. My boys ordered their favourite Italian dishes too, pappardelle beef ragu and Maccaroni carbonara. They did not leave a single pasta in their plate 😋 What an incredible Italian gem this restaurant is! This place offer international fusion food. I had - the shrimp spaghetti with pink sauce. It’s flavorful and has a nice touch of spice. Generous amount of shrimps. A little too sweet for me. - rose orange tea. Fragrant and delicate flavor. Refreshing and not too sweet. Highly recommend especially in a hot summer day. I would have this again if i had the chance. - the brownie. It has a nice crust but the consistency is a bit too hard. It would be nice if they’d warm the brownie before serving it. Also, the atmosphere is so nice. Not a lot of tables. Recommend for dating and hangout with friends. The staff is very polite and helpful.

They were surprisingly thorough with security though, but it took no time, really. At the gate there are comfy, wide wooden chairs and they have free catering! Free muffin, pastry, popcorn and drinks (coffee, water, juice). They have lots of fans to cool down the place. They are super lovely as well!

Had such a great experience at this small airport. The staff speaks English very well, and everyone from the check in counter, security, to the staff from the complimentary snacks bar was perhaps the friendliest I’ve seen so far, smiling and welcoming, and the waiting lounge was very comfortable. The cleaning was impeccable, even at the toilets, which was nice as you don’t see that at many airports.

Cutest airport I've seen. Really small but well maintained airport. The staffs are really professional and kind. Hospitality is top notch. We had unlimited snacks when waiting for the flight. They have transport services to and from the airport to piers and other places nearby.

The airport is great and outdoors. Not very busy and most staff is super friendly. BUT! Do not go to the lounge. It’s a terrible place with rude and slow service, bad choice of drinks and food. Check the lounges google reviews. Very bad. Better buy outside the lounge from the kiosk. The kiosk is well equipped, good prices and friendly employees. The lounge is a massive joke!

This airport is truly amazing. It's charming and small, and the staff is really friendly and welcoming. Visiting the airport is like going back in time, and it has always been a landmark for us when visiting the Trat area. It consists almost entirely of small buildings looking kind of like Bungalows, but it has all the amenities you would expect at an airport. There is only one gate, and you can see most of the runway and airport from the departure/arrival hall, it's really cool 😊 When waiting in the departure hall you get complimentary water and snacks 👌 Not all of the airport is air conditioned, but there are areas and lounges that have air conditioning (the arrival/departure hall only has fans).

This might be one of the best airports that you will probably never see. It is so small cute and you are definitely a 1 oh one customer when you come through it it is beautifully decorated, and the customer service is one of one. They will even take you to kho Chang for right around $20 USD ferry transportation and all!
