Historical landmark
Am Sande is a picturesque market square located in the historic old town of Luneburg, Germany. The square is surrounded by charming gabled buildings that house various shops and eateries, adding to its medieval charm. St John's Church with its leaning spire overlooks the cobblestone plaza, creating a stunning backdrop. In the Middle Ages, Am Sande was covered in sand rather than cobbles, making it easier for merchants to navigate their carts to the market.
As a person who lives in Lüneburg I can only recommend it to people who want to visit!! It's town is truly beautiful and amazes me every time!! The best time to visit is either spring or autumn because the city starts to glow in it's true glory.

For the most part the town is a lovely getaway for couples. The architecture and the tiny walk ways within the town is great. It is family friendly and one can explore within a day. It's so much prettier in the Summer. I would highly recommend this place for a day activity. Aber schnell...the town awaits 💮🌼

This is a beautiful square surrounded by amazing architectural structures. The outside roof tops are all different and wonderful. Definitely a must visit when in Luneburg.

I visited Am Sande in Lüneburg over the weekend, and it was a wonderful experience! This stunning historical place is perfect for a quiet, relaxing day. The area offers a big open space for walking with family and enjoying the picturesque view of the beautiful buildings. There are also many nice cafes where you can sit and enjoy the sun. Lüneburg is a very nice city with incredibly kind people. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a serene and charming getaway!

One of the most beautiful towns near Hamburg in the north of germany. The streets with restaurants and its unique architecture. Definitely worth a visit . How to reach: take RE3 from Hamburg to Luneburg. takes about 30 minutes to reach.

Great historical square with many old beautiful houses and tall brick gothic church. Located in the old town center. The square is always crowded. Not far from the square there is an old water tower with observation deck where you can enjoy amazing views of the city center.

Am Sande is the sole center of this former salt mining city, which made it a prosperous medieval town. Rich entrepreneurs and merchants built beautiful gabled houses here, some of them leaned today because of salt excavation

KRONE Brauhaus in Luneburg offers a cozy and historic setting to enjoy breakfast and hearty German cuisine. The brewery serves a variety of beer options, catering to beer enthusiasts, while also offering wine and cocktails for those with different preferences. With over 500 years of history, the restaurant provides an authentic German dining experience with generous portions of delicious meat dishes. The traditional decorations add to the charm of the place, making it highly recommended for visitors seeking an authentic taste of Germany.
I have sen this place from a youtuber who visited the restaurant and recommended it. I have eaten at the terrace. However internal decoration is also very nice and carming. I strongly recommend you to visit this place. I ordered a potatoe mushroom chicken combination and my wife ordered meat. We both found our meals delicious. For the local beer; I tasted it, but didn’t find it to my liking. However, next time I will definitely try other beers and spirits. :) The prices are slightly above average but I found it normal if you ask me. Two meals two beers, good service and friendly chat with workers came to 55EUR including tip. To conclude if you find yourself in Lüneburg I recommend you to visit this place.

The Krone is a traditional German restaurant. 5 of us were there yesterday for dinner. The food was good. The service was not. After the salad as a starter, we waited 1 hour for the main course. That was not the worst part though. When I suggested to the waiter that things seemed to be pretty busy and that we had a deadline, he responded by saying that we had had a salad after all. It seems that they don't use trained waiters at this restaurant. Later, as I was paying, he told me that if I had a deadline, I should say so when I order. I almost felt obliged to apologize. If they really had a mix up in the kitchen, why wouldn't the waiter simply say "I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. I'll check up on the kitchen." and leave it at that?
Familie T — Google review
After your visit to the Prussian Museum, this is the perfect stop for lunch. The snitzel was really good and the gravy made with beer was delicious. They have options of beers without alcohol and the flavor is good.

Very cosy place with great beer, decent service and food. Went their for lunch and ordered the Schnitzel with eggs as well as the one with Mushroom sauce. Both were very good, would definitely recommend this place and will be looking forward for out next visit.

I dined here on July 29, 2022. The food was nothing special. My mini frikadellen were somewhat dried during pan frying. My pfannenschlag was too salty and the potatoes had some burned pieces. They charged me for the bread. The beer was 4.20 for .4 litter. I found it to be an average place, and I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is looking for German cooking.
LV2travel — Google review
The entire ambiancd of the place was great. The only thing I wish changed was the food. I ordered one of their classics and it was just too salty. There was nothing to counter the saltiness.

The Theater Lüneburg is a place that combines both innovative and traditional performances, making it a unique and appealing destination. It caters to all ages, including the youngest audience members. The German adaptation of Bonnie and Clyde that was showcased there demonstrated the high quality of their productions, providing great entertainment at an affordable price. Each performance showcases immense talent from both male and female actors. Not only does the theater offer exceptional performances, but also creates a welcoming atmosphere through its hospitable staff.
I saw a German adaptation of Bonnie and Clyde that day and the production was great. It wasn't broadway quality or anything but the entertainment you get for the price wasn't bad.

I love this place for the effort they are putting into new, modern adaptations but also classic interpretations. The “young stage” is also a great asset if you what to go there with the youngest!

St. John's Church, located in the historic center of Luneburg, Germany, is a magnificent Brick Gothic church with a rich history dating back to 927. The church is known for its 14th-century tilted steeple and the legend surrounding it. With its 108-meter bell tower dominating the skyline, St. John's features striking Gothic-style architecture and is home to the world's highest brick vaulted ceiling.
In the midst of a long vacation with many busy streets and sidewalks, it was refreshing for the soul to find some solitude in a church.

This is a definite visit if you are in the area. Opportunity to relax and reflect in an old old historical building. They supply a good range of language guides -a donation can be given too.I normally hold Churches as cold however this building really ‘talked’to me -to calm down. I believe ‘this life’ is Heaven, we are all experts so we think! but we are all very lucky that we are a part of a Planet just the correct distance from a burning Planet that allows the very essence of life -atmosphere/water/temperature -someone might have had a hand in this ??!!

The observation deck of the Lüneburg water tower offers a fascinating glimpse into history with its impressive 14th-century architecture. The view from the top is truly magnificent and well worth a visit. The staff are friendly and helpful, even if there is a language barrier. While most exhibits are in German, this should not discourage non-German speakers as the fourth floor speaks for itself and translation apps can easily assist in understanding the content.
Best place to visit in Lüneburg! The view from the observation deck is amazing. The tower is very well maintained. There are both stairs and elevator. Aside from the views, there's a museum inside and the mechanisms from the old water system. Absolutely worth visiting.

Chris K — Google review
Spectacular view of the city. Nice historical place. The tickets is not so expensive. There are different exhibitions while walking to the top.
Alexius K — Google review
Very nicely refurbished water tower located in the city center. It's actually a museum (and used for events), not just a viewpoint. Some of the floors have exhibits on water usage. Dogs welcome! 5 eur per person. Great views of the city and surrounding area. Highly recommend. Little gift shop at the entrance.
Paul H — Google review
Amazing Lüneburg view from here. The water tower is very well preserved, inside it is very nice information and machines you can try. You take the elevator up. Worth seeing if you have time.

Natalia A — Google review
A very cool piece of history, with an even greater view at the top. Being able to see the beautiful 1300s architecture around Lüneburg is worth the €5. The staff were super nice, and despite the language barrier was able to help direct us. The content of the exhibits are mostly in German, but don’t let that deter you if you don’t speak it. The 4th floor speaks for itself, and if you really are interested in the words they’re very clear and easy to translate with an app. I did not expect to start my trip falling in love with a water tower, but it is worth making an effort to see if you’re around Lüneburg (30 minute train from Hamburg 100% worth the trip)

A wonderful place, despite the years of this tower, it is in excellent condition. An impeccable view of the entire city. Walking down from the observation deck, you learn the history of the tower and much more.

This is a historic brewery and restaurant that revives the town's centuries-old brewing tradition. The establishment offers a cosy, rustic atmosphere where guests can enjoy freshly brewed beers and traditional German cuisine. The exceptional quality of the beer and the inviting ambiance is note worthy. Overall, it is a nice place to try if you are visiting Lüneburg.
Yeasir Z — Google review
Mälzer Brau- und Tafelhaus was clearly a popular lunch spot today, buzzing with customers. While the initial service from our table waiter was adequate, we were only provided with a German menu. Thankfully, the bar staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly when I went to the counter to request an English menu. We ordered two beers, a mixed salad, and the mixed sausages. The sausages were a highlight – absolutely delicious, although we did find them to be a touch on the salty side.

Mälzer Brauerei Lüneburg – excellent food and atmosphere! The Biergulasch was rich and flavorful, and the Wurst Parade a real highlight. Loved the brewery’s own beer — fresh and perfectly paired. Lovely, outstanding service made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Piccanti is a modern tavern in Luneburg offering a diverse menu of food and drinks, including pizza, pasta, grilled steaks, seafood, as well as healthy vegan and vegetarian options. The restaurant features exposed brick walls and a cozy terrace for guests to enjoy their meals. It's known for its hot stone oven pizzas and spacious seating areas both indoors and outdoors. Visitors can expect friendly service and delicious food, including the unique long pizza that can be cut with scissors.
I stopped in this cute restaurant because I saw that it is always crowded and it looks quite good, the menu is rich and I immediately found my favorite dish. The food was delicious, I have nothing to complain about, not even my friend who is very picky. The waiting time was not very long and the restaurant staff is respectful and professional. I will definitely come back!

Visited on our one day trip to Lüneburg. The pizzas were big, I couldn’t finish mine. Nothing special in the taste, they were good. Service is fast, the location is also good, the place is big, except for the tables that are outside, they also have like a small garden. The only thing that I didn’t like were the dirty tables.

Piccanti Lüneburg provided a truly delightful dining experience. The service was exceptional; our waiter was incredibly attentive and polite, while also maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor. He was very helpful in guiding us through the menu with excellent recommendations. We also appreciated him checking in to see how we were enjoying our meal. He even graciously agreed to a photo! The food itself was also excellent. We ordered pizza and salad, and both were very tasty. I would highly recommend Piccanti for their wonderful service and delicious food.

The interior is wonderful, the waiters work quickly. But….disappointment in the quality of the food. The food with the smell is served without remorse. The consolation is the prompt reaction of the waiters. Several options were missing from the menu.
Inese S — Google review
We had breakfast there, the portions were very small in comparison to the price of the meal, we payed 17,50€ for two people and had to order more because the portion was too small. I also found a hair in my food, two times! The eggs were great though, and the area of the restaurant is also good. I want to recommend the restaurant but i would not, not with my experience.

The food is amazing, they have also a seasonal menu which differentiates this place from others in the area. We tried the Auflauf with the mushrooms and the salads with the mushrooms and they were both delicious and really big portions. I love the small Biergarten where people can enjoy the sun outside

Was a bit disappointed to be honest. Nice place with a great vibe to have a beer. The food was ... meh. Sticky greasy pizza, grilled cheese as from the supermarker freezer, 'authentic' French onion soup = a mixed vegetables broth with some cheese over it. Ok Auflauf. Had better pub food before.

Unfortunately, my experience at Rõhms Deli in Lüneburg was quite disappointing. Upon arriving, we stood near the outdoor seating area hoping to be seated. After a while, with no staff acknowledging us, we decided to take a seat at an empty outdoor table. We then waited for a further 20 minutes before a waiter finally approached our table. His first question was whether we spoke German. When we replied that we did not, he abruptly informed us that they were fully booked and only accepting reservations. While I understand restaurants can get busy, the way this was handled felt unwelcoming, especially as we are Asian tourists. It would have been much more appreciated if we had been informed of the reservation policy earlier and with a more courteous approach.

I didnt want to write this review but I am genuinely annoyed, I dont like being duped. I was there this past Tuesday 15th August. Birthday lunch. You offer a Entrecote for 29€ we ordered two and a fish dish. The Entrecote was NOT Entrecote but rather chewy rump steak as it called here or sirloin everywhere else. You dont disclose the weight of the steak and as a person who only eats steak, everyday I know steaks. Maybe 250g I asked for medium rare and got medium, slightly pink inside meat. Now it was a birthday treat from my wife and son so I didnt want to make a fuss but when i asked the waitress, who was lovey btw she says its Entrecote for sure... honestly for the money it was average at best. Better to serve and say what it actually is than deceive customers.

The Old Crane in the Lüneburg harbor is a centuries-old industrial landmark that dates back to 1346. This historic harbor crane was used to lift valuable goods such as salt and firewood. It features two hidden wooden carrying wheels and is still fully functional, despite becoming redundant after Lüneburg was connected to the railway network in 1846.
This is a medieval port ramp used for (un)loading salt and other products from boats. It's set in the very center, but more we liked the relaxed vibe of the area. There're several bars and restaurants around with outdoor seating, and people sit on the bridge with their drinks enjoying the beautiful scenery around

The Old Crane is a historic harbor crane located at Lüneburg's ancient Ilmenau port. The crane, which was built in 1797 and was one of the most powerful in northern Germany at the time, still characterizes the image of the Wasserviertel today and is regarded as a landmark. Lüneburg was first mentioned in medieval records in a deed signed on 13 August, 956 AD The crane is constructed of a load-bearing wood framework. Great atmosphere, stunning environment, and nice restaurants to eat or just have a beer are all must-sees if you're in Lueneburg. Today (June 24, 2023), we went on a weekend trip. Lunenburg) is a charming and historic town on the Ilmenau River, bordered by the Lüneburg Heath in the North German state of Lower Saxony. The town is located about 50 kilometers southeast of Hamburg and is the capital of the district of Lüneburg, with a population of approximately 75,000 (2018). So very beautiful, do visit. And lot of Restaurant are also there.

A short trip to Lüneburg is the natural consequence after visiting Lübeck. The salt that made Lübeck rich actually came from Lüneburg! At the former harbor in the water district (Wasserviertel), you'll find this "Old Crane," a (secret) symbol of Lüneburg. This is where the precious salt ("white gold") was shipped, bringing great wealth to the city during the time of the Hanseatic League. In the Middle Ages, the crane was an important tool for lifting heavy loads, especially salt bags, onto ships or onto land—thus allowing the salt to be transported further to Lübeck through the Stecknitz Canal. Two old ships can still be seen there. And there are plenty of lovely Cafés around the square - a true tourist magnet! 🤩

Museum Lüneburg offers a captivating exploration of the history and culture of Lüneburg, showcasing a diverse range of exhibits including art, artifacts, and interactive displays. One of its highlights is the renowned salt crystal, an impressive natural formation entirely composed of salt weighing over 1200 lbs. The museum provides comprehensive insights into the region's history, culture, and natural environment. It seamlessly integrates geological, archaeological, and historical aspects in its presentation with a top-notch concept.
I was here with my mother who visited from another country and with my daughter. They were both impressed. Some reviews here are saying that the museum is small. The size of it is actually really good- you get to see and learn a lot but it doesn’t get boring, especially for kids who don’t have a lot of patience. The also have special exhibits which are also very good.

Interesting collection showing the intricate history of the town, now they’re also showing and keep adding some pieces from the colonial era and it’s great to see that it’s being researched and reflected on. The space in general is very nice and pleasant to spend time in.

A very interesting place to visit while in Lüneburg. The current exhibit on the end of WWII was well done and informative.

New museum that is totally not worth going. It's small and there's nothing interesting in exhibition. One particular staff was also very nosy, following us throughout the museum and keeping an eye on us as if we're going steal any of the worthless artifact here.

Great place! Receptionists and all the staff are amazing too!

Boring, they cared more about the design of the furniture and the architecture of the building instead of the actual content to show. Nothing amusing or exciting inside. Pretty disappointing.

Lüneburg Town Hall is a historic building with medieval origins and a stunning baroque-era facade. Construction of the town hall began in 1230, incorporating architectural elements from various periods. The original Gothic facade was replaced after a storm in 1703, resulting in the spectacular front seen today. Guided tours offer visitors the chance to explore the lavish interior, featuring murals, frescoes, and intricate wood carvings.
Lüneburg Town Hall , considered by researchers to be the largest in the region, is an example of secular architecture from the Middle Ages and early modern period in northern Germany . It was built around 1230 and has been expanded and rebuilt several times over the centuries, while remaining the primary seat of Lüneburg's city council and administration.

Lüneburg's town hall is a storyteller, administrative seat, landmark and gem all in one. With its 259 rooms, it is one of the most outstanding architectural monuments in northern Germany and the largest medieval town hall in the north. The construction of our town hall began around 1230 and was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded over the centuries. Thanks to its 700-year building history, traces from various epochs have been left throughout the town hall: Gothic and Renaissance court arbor, prince's hall, old archive, chancellery and mayor's chamber. Masterful woodwork adorns the large council chamber, which is one of the largest Renaissance halls in Germany. The Hall of Homage and the market facade date from the Baroque period. In the tower there is a clockwork with chimes made of Meissen porcelain. The town hall is still actively used as the seat of the administration of the city of Lüneburg. However, the most beautiful rooms are open for you to visit as part of a guided tour.

If you come Lüneburg, then make sure to take the guided tour of the City Hall. The city hall is supposed to be one of the most beautiful city halls in Germany, which was as the city itself was luckily was not destroyed during the war. If you come on a Saturday, you cN combine the visit of the market right outside the city hall, with a guided tour. We had the most entertaining German lady, who could tell way more than what she was able to tell us in this one hour tour. If you think my review was useful, kindly press the like button. Thx

What a lovely gem in Lüneburg. I was looking for a place to have a quick dinner- on my own. I found it and the dinner turned into a much longer than anticipated joyous experience- not usually what you have when dining on your own. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is really friendly. The menu is not over the top fancy- excellent honest food with locally sourced seasonal ingredients and some lovely little twists such as marinated grapes and roasted cumin with the burrata. It’s also relatively good value for money. As a South African, I found the subtle culinary influences like biltong and Cape Malay curry really interesting- although I did not try these dishes- but there are lovely vegetarian options as well. Apparently the owner has close connections to Southern Africa, which you also see in the decor. I really liked it. I’m sure you will as well.

I’ll start with the positive. Amazing place, the service and attention was impeccable, the sommelier made a great wine recommendation and the food was good. Only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because we ordered a medium cooked steak, and we received an almost well done.

I am so picky & rarely leave a review of a restaurant unless it’s perfection or horrible. This place is perfection. Kudos to the chef & owners. The staff is amazing and the food is to die for from starters, right through dessert & drinks. Our server Reuben was helpful, attentive and a pleasure. To start, I had the artichoke & my husband had the venison liver pate. Incredible. For main, I had the best fish & chips EVER. My husband had the wild boar loin & he said it was excellent. We ended with Orange crème brûlée that was out of this world. Danke to the chef for a memorable meal & to Reuben for the best service. I’ll end with the atmosphere & view being so beautiful.

Beatiful restaurant with great food. The interior is red brick decorated with objects that give safari / hunter's lodge wibe but done in a cool modern way. The kitchen on the ground floor is open to all to see. R&B music on the speakers, disco ball in the toilets - really great combination of old and new. The dishes were kind of the same - fresh, simple, well known but served/ prepared differently. The catch of the day was melting in the mouth, deer (that our waitress said, was shot by the shef, which could have been a joke, but also very likely 😁) soft (though in my husband's opinion cooked a bit too long), chesnut ice cream/chocolate mouse dessert - great finish to a great meal. Highly recommend!

(Translated by Google) We visited the pop-up restaurant Aurum, which is uniquely located in the city. We made a reservation through the website and got a lovely seat right by the window facing the street. Aurum serves haute cuisine in Lüneburg – a real niche market. Of course, we had to try it immediately. And lo and behold – it was truly worth it. Absolutely fantastic flavors, which we were able to sample throughout the evening. The drinks selection, with sparkling summer aperitifs, was also impressive. Our favorite was the Salzsau (salt pig). Otherwise, I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves and promise we'll be back – with the new menu, of course. Please continue with the concept. Lüneburg needs it.

Due to the bad weather, we couldn't sit outside as originally planned, but we got a beautifully set table right by the window overlooking the street. We were introduced to Aurum by the Lüneburg Aktuell news service and wanted to try it out right away. The food, service, and hospitality were fantastic! I'd never been to the unique district before, but I'll always remember it fondly. The menu consisted of many regional dishes and was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! I hope this concept can develop from a pop-up restaurant into a permanent fixture in Lüneburg's culinary scene. Thank you for the great evening, and keep up the great work. In our last three or four visits, we noticed a gradually decreasing quality, we don't prefer it anymore. The service is very late, the beer is a bit watery and the food (fish, fried etc.) is not very tasty.

The German Salt Museum, also known as the Luneburg Salt Museum or Salzmuseum, is a captivating venue that showcases the 1,000-year history of salt mining in Luneburg. Situated on the former saline site, this museum delves into the city's rich past as a prominent salt producer and its significance within the Hanseatic League.
Surprisingly, I had a wonderful time touring the Salt Museum. They offer an audio tour in English for 1€, alternatively you can borrow a binder of translations of the exhibit for free. The space is much larger (and deeper) than expected and gives you a thorough history of Lüneburg and its role in the middle ages. Loved the maps and models of the original town layout and interactive models of the saltworks. As a solo traveling 30 yr old, I highly recommend it if you like history and salt :)

The lady at the reception was very nice! The museum had niceee different kinds of salt The water source was also random but interesting! The little shop was LITTLE! The museum wasn’t in English you had to book a tour guide for that. The museum also included many languages such as Kurdish! Which as a Kurdish person I very adore

Fantastically interesting museum in one of the former salt factories. A complicated story told well but with old museological technology which does not always function. The shop has a great variety of salty products. The question who owns the salt-mines remains open even after the visit.

Very interesting visit in Lüneburg — learned a lot about the town’s historic salt production and how it shaped the city’s prosperity. The exhibits show the tough and harsh working conditions of the salt workers — impressive and humbling to see how hard life once was.

The experience overall was pretty nice. The history was pretty interesting, and I personally loved the fact that there are little fountains that let people taste the water like it was back in the day. The stuff was very friendly, but we got a little confused with the directions. We asked multiple times where the start was, and we never got a clear answer. Long story short, we started from the end, and we finished at the start. The ticket costs 8€ and I think it was 4€ plus if you want to have the little device that explains everything during the experience. It was pretty good for 1 time but not a must, in my opinion.
Dodis T — Google review
Interesting look into the Lüneburg history through salt. Features salts from all over the world, the old machinery, fun salt facts, media, a big puzzle for the kids and more. All the info plaques are only in German, though.

Informative and interactive museum at the previous salt manufacturing factory, explaining history of the Lüneburg as City of Salt Mines until the salt manufacturing ended in 1980. It costs 1€ extra to get an audio guide, it comes in English too.

PROS: well preserved | well located | perfect for kids & picnic CONS: some extra benches would be great

Nice place. Lot of place for Picnic or other activities. Playground for children is too small in my opinion, there's more place for organise really nice place for kids, I hope that in nearly future town will rebuild this.

It's a beautiful park. It's the go-to place on Sunday for families with children. The children can splash around in the small fountain which is surrounded by seating. Ther's a small cafe with outdoor and indoor seating. Great selection of cakes, coffee and ice cream! The atmosphere is very relaxed. There's also a fairly big playground for the children with a seating area. There's also a small made made lake filled with ducks who you are not allowed to feed!! Great place to jog and go for a run or walk. Public toilet also available. The park is very well maintained.

Kurpark is a place to go to regardless of weather. It's a nice park to take walks in, get some exercises in, play games, just hang out or also listen to concerts. It has a designated area for dogs to have free play.

Very nice and spacious park including the Gradierwerk where you can treat yourselves to a free saltwater inhalation. Great for kids to run around, very nice playground included.
Privacy S — Google review
As with all German parks it is a simple place with fields for relaxing or reading a book. There is a playground here and some strange water fountain structure.

The East Prussian Regional Museum, situated in Luneburg, Lower Saxony, Germany, is a cultural institution that offers a captivating journey through the history and culture of East Prussia and the Baltic Germans. Reopened in 2018, it showcases rare exhibits and artifacts while also featuring a permanent exhibition on the Hanseatic League. Visitors can explore art, relics, taxidermy, and multimedia displays spanning various epochs. Additionally, the museum includes a brewery museum as part of its offerings.
That’s a great museum, a deep dive into a history of Eastern Prussia. The museum is quite interactive and has some very good historical pieces. I really enjoyed it!
Philipp K — Google review
A regional history museum which ultimately has a unique connection to the local area. Its origins as a hunting museum give it a unique touch; there are now displays about nature and the hunting tradition which tie in well with the more conventional historical topics. There are plenty of interactive displays. The displays are in German but they have audio guides in a few other languages.
Nikhil M — Google review
A very interesting museum about the story of the Prussians, unfortunately everything is in German language only and the audio tour is very limited with the information provided.
Fabiola P — Google review
Incredible museum, you can tell a lot of care and devotion went into presenting this important and often forgotten cultural region. Highly recommend it
William N — Google review
A wonderfully specialist-themed museum which not only talks about the people of East Prussia but also the history, the fauna, and archaeological finds. Special mention must be made of the two ladies on Reception, they were so helpful in answering questions, the key one being why is there such a strong connection between East Prussia and Lüneburg.

Cafe
Cafe Zeitgeist in Luneburg is a charming and inviting eatery that offers a delightful dining experience. The restaurant boasts an attractive interior and exterior, creating a cozy and warm atmosphere for all visitors. The servers at this establishment are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, enhancing the overall enjoyment of customers. It is widely regarded as the top breakfast spot in Luneburg, serving delectable dishes such as waffles with fruit that are truly satisfying.
This is such a cute cafe/restaurant! We didn’t have a reservation, but after a short wait, we were able to get a table. The waiters were super nice and attentive! The coffee was great, and the food options are really nice. For the price, you definitely get a lot. I had the veggie Stulle and was so full afterward! I had planned to try the cake as well, but sadly, I couldn’t eat more. Looks like I’ll just have to visit Lüneburg again to try it next time!

One of my Favorite Café in Lüneburg! Great coffee and friendly Staff, place looks esthetically beautiful. Only small minus is that it can be a bit pricey. But if you want a good Coffee and a slice of homemade cake, it's worth it 😊

I had Sunday brunch alone. I wish I had brought someone so we could have shared the special as it looked delicious. I had the waffles and fruit and they were quite good. The servers here really make the experience worth it as they were incredibly warm and welcoming. This seems to be the best breakfast place in Luneburg.

Nice cafe on one of the cutest alleys of Lüneburg. Staff was very kind and friendly. However, would not say the same for what we had. Coffee was poor, waffles were average. And quite expensive in overall.
Denizhan Ö — Google review
We were charmed by the amazing photos. Sadly, the breakfast was just ok. “Herzhaft” has 2 thin slices of cheese and “yogurt mit sprossen”, paprika slices… Sweet breakfast is hardly sweet, the self-made hazelnut paste is more like unsweetened tahini. In the end you pay 40€ for a very very limited breakfast. If you sit outside, it’s all wasps, so be careful. Very friendly, kind and lovely staff though. You feel very welcomed and happy, but you don’t feel full in the end.

Bodrum Restaurant offers genuine and fulfilling Turkish cuisine. The delectable grilled chicken salad dish provided a pleasurable dining experience with its delightful flavors and generous portion size. The restaurant's warm indoor ambiance prompted customers to move outdoors, where they could enjoy their meals comfortably. With reasonable prices and exceptionally friendly staff, this establishment is a must-visit for anyone in the area seeking excellent food at great value.
I recently enjoyed Adana kebab and lamb ribs, and I must say, the ribs here are truly unparalleled in flavor. They are unbelievably delicious—simply the best you'll ever taste.

I received a recommendation to visit Restaurant Anno1900, located in the market, from the bookstore staff. I am grateful for their tip. This charming establishment boasts friendly personnel and offers delicious meals with a particular emphasis on schnitzels and meat dishes. The food is of excellent quality and highly recommended by others as well. It is an ideal place for enjoying schnitzel, with options ranging from standard sizes that are already ample to colossal 1 kg portions.
Great place to eat schnitzel. We took the “standard”: this is already the size of a floor mat ! but you can order a schnitzel of 1 kg also, which is twice as big. Q-park at 20 meters from the restaurant.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Osteria is an outstanding Italian eatery that sets itself apart with its ever-changing menu. This cozy establishment may be on the smaller side, but it more than compensates for its lack of space with a culinary experience that is truly remarkable. The current daily offerings are consistently fresh, delectable, and expertly prepared.
(Translated by Google) Very popular restaurant. The service is competent and helpful. The food is simply delicious. Very good quality and gentle preparation. Shrimp that melts in your mouth. A starter with avocados and melon. Subtle sweetness and a spicy sauce as a contrast. Nothing drowns out the unique taste of the high-quality ingredients. At almost 20 euros for a starter, it's not cheap, but it's more than worth every cent. The main course, fish, is also a poem of freshness and taste. A wonderful and of course homemade raspberry sorbet crowns the feast. It's great that there is such good cuisine in Lüneburg. (Original) Sehr beliebtes Restaurant.

(Translated by Google) Yesterday, four of us went to the Osteria with us. Our reservation was made two months ago by email. A reminder email for the reservation arrived two weeks before. It was our first time there and we ended up in a pizzeria (same building, same owner). We were immediately greeted very warmly and were taken to the wrong restaurant. We were then escorted through the connecting door to the adjoining Osteria (not sent across the courtyard) and personally handed over to the Osteria's waitress, who asked her to take care of us. The reserved table was perfect. The ambiance is very nice. The service staff is consistently very friendly and accommodating. A special request for some chocolate after dessert was fulfilled in an unorthodox way by the waitress (it was supposed to remain a secret, but I have to spill the beans now. She probably supplied me with some chocolate from her private stash. She said she had an idea and returned to our table two minutes later with the chocolate, what a nice gesture! Very unusual). The food served was very, very good. We had everything, from appetizers to dessert. The restaurant gradually emptied, and the tables were being set for the next day. When we asked if closing time was approaching—it was around 10:30 p.m.—we were told no, or rather, "You're welcome to stay, we're here for you." As the evening progressed, the two hosts (I don't know for sure if there are two owners, bosses?, but it seemed so) came and checked—very discreetly, but still noticeable—that everything was in order, and made sure everything was running smoothly. At the Osteria, gastronomy is lived; everything revolves around the guest. It's simply a wonderful feeling to be so well looked after. Conclusion: We would definitely come back!! Thank you for the perfect evening. Carsten Horn
