Apeldoorn in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Apeldoorn, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Apeldoorn offers a blend of royal history and green space, centered on Paleis Het Loo, a former royal palace with formal gardens and a well-regarded museum. The city is a gateway to De Hoge Veluwe and other nearby forests and heathlands, popular for cycling, hiking and wildlife spotting. Families are drawn to attractions like Apenheul Primate Park and the Julianatoren amusement park. Its compact center, with cafes, shops and regular events, makes a convenient base for exploring the wider Veluwe region.
With favorites like Van der Valk Hotel Apeldoorn, Restaurant De Bon Vivant, and Guusje, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Restaurant La Niche Apeldoorn and Fong Sheng so you can get the best taste of Apeldoorn while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Outdoor Activities
Apenheul is a seasonal park located in Apeldoorn, the 12th largest city in the Netherlands. The city has modern residential areas and business districts, with its history and attractions concentrated in the original core. A visit to Apenheul offers an opportunity to see over 200 free-roaming primates, explore a treetop trail, and experience a nocturnal monkey house.
Very cute monkeys, beautiful and demanding place. The tour is about 3-4 hours, the parking ticket is 1,07 €/ 20 minutes. There are restaurants and toilets inside. And you can walk amoung the monkeys. Just watch out, some of them are thieves. 😄😄
Zsófia F — Google review
Amazing experience. If you have a stroller, they will get on the stroller. They provide free anti-primate bags to put your stuff in. You get to be so close to the animals! There are activities throughout the park to keep kids entertained and engaged. As well as fun facts and other educational things along the way.
Ashlee C — Google review
Apenheul is a beautiful park with great visibility of the monkeys and superb, friendly staff. The landscaping is lovely, and the whole place feels clean and well-kept. The only downside: the paper maps often end up soggy in the water, which makes things messy — a digital app or clearer route signs would be a big improvement. Avoid going in the summer break — it’s just too crowded and very loud. For children who get easily overstimulated, a weekday in low season is a much better choice. The food is below average, even though there are plenty of food squares to choose from. The park also has several playgrounds that are both challenging and fun for younger kids, which is a real plus for families. The walk through the park is long but very scenic if you enjoy nature. Parking looks like it could be chaotic on busy days, but thanks to the staff’s excellent handling and clear protocols, there’s really no room for chaos — they keep everything moving smoothly. One tip: don’t bring small items in your pockets (sunglasses, phones, etc.). Consider adding a small travel lock to your bag, otherwise you’ll be required to carry one of the free Apenheul monkey-proof bags. They’re big enough, but when packed too heavy, they can become a real strain on your shoulders. All in all, a beautifully maintained park with wonderful staff and a unique experience — best enjoyed outside peak season.
S L — Google review
Apenheul is an absolutely amazing place — it’s worth visiting Apeldoorn just for this park! The entire experience was fantastic. Even on a very hot day, the park feels pleasant and refreshing thanks to the tall trees and natural shade everywhere. You can walk among various monkey species freely, and it’s incredible how close you can get to them while still respecting their space. The animals seem very well cared for, which really adds to the experience. One small downside: the video shown during the gorilla feeding session was only in Dutch with German subtitles. It would have been more inclusive if English subtitles were also available. The live presentation was also in Dutch, but considering that most visitors are from the Netherlands and many are children, it’s understandable. If you’re anywhere nearby, I highly recommend visiting. A truly unique and enjoyable experience!
Meryem G — Google review
We visited Apenheul and absolutely loved it. The monkeys are adorable 😍🐒 and you can see many of them up close as they move freely around the park. There are also other animals, like capybaras. The whole park is very well equipped, with plenty of rest areas and even sunscreen dispensers available throughout. Everything is clean, well maintained, and organized. The staff is friendly, very attentive to both visitors and the animals, always ready to help. The gorilla presentation was a real highlight. It’s definitely a great place for families with children, but we’re a couple in our twenties and we had a fantastic time too 😊😊

Apenheul – Where the Monkeys Are Better Behaved Than Some Visitors Apenheul was pure magic. The park (and the nearby public park) is spotless, beautifully kept, and just a short walk from a spacious parking area. The real highlight? Dozens of monkey species roaming free, completely at ease – it’s like stepping into their world instead of peering at them from behind glass. At the entrance, you get a free monkey-proof bag to protect your belongings from curious little hands. You can skip it if you’ve already made your own “thief-proof” setup (think carabiners locking your zippers) – but trust me, the monkeys will test your security system. Friendly staff are everywhere, making sure both monkeys and humans stay safe – a small miracle considering there are still the occasional unsupervised kids and the inevitable wheeled trailers people insist on dragging along. The feeding sessions are a must. Check the website or park guide for times – you’ll learn a lot and it’s a joy to watch. Huge applause for the staff, who clearly care deeply for the animals and create an experience that feels respectful, educational, and unforgettable.

Amazing experience. It was a bit crowded, but there wasnt a long wait to get in. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The habitats were spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Very educational and unlike any "zoo" experience I've had in the past.

Nature & Parks
Park Berg en Bos, established in 1934, sprawls across 250 hectares at the edge of the Veluwe Hills, making it the largest park in the region. The park offers a variety of walking trails and features an ornamental lake and cascades. It is home to a resident herd of wild boar and also houses Apenheul Zoo and Klimbos Veluwe. Visitors can enjoy evening activities during summer and observe apes living freely among them.
Its a beautifull park. U can sit for hours to relax your mind

A beautiful small lake to walk around, with stunning views from every angle. There are lovely water feature incorporated that feed into the lake and overall it is very well maintained and has a brilliant variety of plant life. There are artworks dotted all around so there is always something extra to see. I also explored surrounding areas and got to see deer and boar. Amazing stuff, free to visit. We barely scratched the surface, but if I were in the area again I would happily visit.

It's a beautiful garden with an amazing landscape. We really enjoyed our walk through the garden and wished for a little more time on our hands to adventure further! Would definitely recommend it for a day tour.
Lena H — Google review
Beautiful park with many activities for all the family in the area. You can simply stroll around and have a picnic or enter some of the activities in the area including the fantastic Klimbos (tree climbing).
Raymond Z — Google review
Beautiful part and a lot of plants, trees etc.
Marek S — Google review
This park is more then meets the eye so be sure to come prepare because unless you are a local you wouldn't know your all day parking fee is only 10 Euros. You also wouldn't know about the Ape Empire inside at an additional cost. You will probably miss the high tree zip line, also at an additional cost. All worth it though. You want to bring your own food and have a picnic while the children play. Having said that, bring an extra set of clothes for the kiddoes because there is a pile of mud where they can play, but don't worry, you also have a water pump you can use to clean them up. Overall, just come prepare to admire the breathtaking scenaries all around you. Oh, and don't forget to climb the watch Tower.

It's really worth a visit. The gardens are excellent, and everything has a meaning. The globe fountains illustrate the major Dutch trading posts. The entire grounds and buildings were completely restored well. There are children activities as well. There is a vintage car and carriage exhibit as well

Beautiful park next to the Palace Paleis het Loo. Perfectly kept garden. With flowers, fountains, fruit trees, picknick area, games, etc. Take your time to stroll through the park. A little kiosk is open as well. And if you have time, don't forget the maze.

The summer palace of William and Mary. Includes a stable and car collection with a restaurant opposite. Then a short walk to the palace. Amazing baroque gardens still under construction in some parts. Lots of rooms to visit with an audio guide that provides history of the items and William and Mary. €19.50 entry and €7.50 to park. No dogs in the grounds. Recommended

Really a beautiful park for a day visit. We visited when the weather was not great but it was definitely worth the trip. The gardens are beautiful and the wood all around is just perfect to go for a little hike and get lost in nature. At the time of our visit the palace was closed for renovation. Definitely recommended!!

As one of the five largest theaters in the Netherlands, it attracts both locals and tourists alike who come to enjoy captivating shows over multiple days.
Great venue with wonderful acoustics, large stage and pit. Seats are well distributed on different levels in the hall which makes the view quite unique from the different angles. Backstage the dressing rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Artistenfoyer is large and there’s plenty of areas where one can sit or chill. The staff was very nice and helpful. The audience who attended our performance of Swan lake was very welcoming and seemed to enjoy the experience very much.

Restaurant La Niche Apeldoorn is a contemporary dining spot with classic influences and seasonal dishes on a changing menu. In addition to à la carte options, guests can choose from various menus including the amuse menu and a special theater menu. The restaurant offers a personal approach and uses fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Really nice place with nice atmosphere! Menu is not very big but have a little bit of everything! Staff were very polite and helpful. Food was tasty and well cooked!

We came to eat for Christmas with an obligatory Christmas menu. The menu was nothing high class nor exceptional but it was definitely overpriced for the quality and portion they dared to serve. A total lack of originality for the courses and now looking at the pictures of other reviews, I realize reused dishes (so really nothing specially designed for Christmas). To our surprise, the vegetarian menu was the same price as the meat one, although it consisted of courgettes and aubergines. The owner agreed to give a discount after discussing it with him. Waiter was nice and relatively inexperienced but well intentioned. I will definitely NOT recommend going there, it is not worth it.

This restaurant offers great food and service, comparable to Michelin star restaurants for a very reasonable price. The staff is well known with the courses and can suggest good wine with it. The other guests were a bit aged in my opinion.

Restaurant
Fong Sheng, a Cantonese restaurant in Apeldoorn, offers delectable Asian cuisine that may have been adapted to suit Netherlands tastes. However, customers are not complaining as the food still delivers great flavors. The owner and staff provide excellent hospitality, going so far as to specially prepare vermicelli for children. In general, Fong Sheng is highly regarded and often frequented by locals due to its delicious dishes, affable service, and high standards.
Simply my favourite place to eat in Apeldoorn. Tasty food, friendly staff and high standard in general. Reasonable prices. I eat here often.

Old fashioned Chinese Restaurant that is becoming rare these days. We now understand why, at prime dinner time the restaurant was empty, we were the only guest until we were joined by one other guests. If there would have been more guest, then I would have scored the atmosphere a 5. The food was OK, nothing special, the service was super good.

A great place!! Very kind and woderful taste. I strongly recommend to visit here.
Zandy D — Google review
Need a Cantonese-fixed as we missed Asia food! Not the most authentic as the taste had adapted into Netherlands style but no complaint! Great hospitality from the owner and the staff. They even prepared a bowl of vermicelli specially for our kid. Overall very satisfactory experiences !
Beth C — Google review
Not too shabby. Fong Sheng is a classic in Apeldoorn and we have eaten there quite often. Our waiter helped us choosing the correct amount of food, and we enjoyed talking with him. The food was excellent and not too pricey.
Hans P — Google review
Food is really not worth the price. But the main issue was that waiter brought us one dish not correct. And he even put some of it to my friends plate...Like what? All other dishes were correct and they were served on the table not to our plates... And when we said that we ordered different dish waiter just said this is correct and walked away and didn't came back to us... And food was really poor it was just boiled/cooked meat or seafood with salt and then we had souce to put it on top and that was it. It really had not much taste in it...
Dovilė P — Google review
We loved it! Very very friendly staff! The food was delicious (we had mainly dim sum and green Chinese veggies), the restaurant and the restrooms are clean, there’s parking near by and the pricing is totally fair. Definitely worth a visit, we’ll come back!

Nicely located in very close proximity of the Palace. The service was friendly. The food was really tasteful and the portions were generous. Food is very good only the male toilet was bad for a restaurant as this. It was broken and taped together. For the food I would recommend this place but for the restroom it was far under average. Hopefully they will do something about it after our visit as I mentioned it to 1 of the waiters. . If not this will be the last time I will releve myself here. Which means that I won't come back.

Julianatoren Apeldoorn is a seasonal theme park located on the western outskirts of Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Geared towards children under 12, it offers over 60 rides and attractions including a Ferris wheel and several rollercoasters. The park is designed to be super child-friendly with almost every ride suitable for small kids. It features mouse and dino-themed entertainment aimed at children aged 2-10 years old.
Price is 29.5. Recommend to buy tickets 14 or 7 days in advance to get a good discount. If you visit in weekend, after 11 o'clock, the parking lot in front of entrance will be already full. Then you have to go at the second very large parking lot, and a shuttle bus will take you free of charge to the main entrance. Inside are a lot of options for small kids, it is amaizing how many "picnic places" and green space around. Our kid of 3,5 years enjoyed fully the entertainment options.

Great amusement park for young kids (<10). Best for toddlers. Not too big, they can't get lost. If you arrive around 10:00, you can park at P1. If you are there after 10:30, don't even bother and head straight for P2. Oh and though the park opens at 10:00, you can't go in before 10:30 so you stand around in the food court behind the entrance. There is a little sign and dance show for the little ones.
Christian P — Google review
Great amusement park for kids to enjoy. Parents can join kids in pretty much every ride. The staff at the rides are also very kind and polite. There can be pretty big queues at each ride.

Very fun park for kids and adults to join in. Good - many good attractions - attractions are not scattered across are large area. - many places to sit and rest - allowed to bring your own food and drinks - plenty of food and drinks stalls - parking P1 is next to the park, P2 is 5min ride with the bus (free provided by the park) - instead of closing down all the attractions at once, they gradually close between 17 and 18, reducing the crowd at the exit, very smart!

The park had a delayed opening and technical difficulties due to a power outage in the morning. Cute shows for the kids. Kids sit up front. Parents and families sit in the back, it's gives you a few minutes to sit at least. If you buy the character cups, ask for the one want. They should have all of them. A sweet girl change it for us! We didn't fully understand why there were barrels with the cavemen and dinosaurs. This ride also had an extremely long wait. I'm not sure why the gentleman was taking so long to send the cars after they loaded. I assume they didn't have enough cars on the track, but it just seemed to take so long.

Great park with attractions for children. Large selection of attractions from small to medium children. I recommend to visit.

Crowded, expensive, and poorly ran… retirees working here (as you can see in my picture) fill two cups with one small kid each and my two small kids and a whole giant line of people are waiting

Paleis Het Loo is a 17th-century palace and garden that offers guided tours of the royal apartments and houses a notable art collection. It's a massive complex that provides insight into the Dutch Royal Family, featuring an excellent cafe and a fun kids playground. The surrounding area also includes Apenheul, an ape zoo, as well as beautiful parks with stately villa neighborhoods and access to the Veluwe forest.
We visited this palace over the weekend, what a pleasant surprise! A beautiful palace, it tells a lot about the history of the kings of Holland, about the architecture. A very well preserved palace, the view from the top of the garden is a sight to behold. We loved everything, one of the best palaces we have ever visited.
S.M.M.L — Google review
Amazing palace, a must visit when you are around. The garden is precious and highly recommended to spend some time outside. The sculptures as well as the plants and flowers are beautiful. The design of the landscape is so cool. Plus, the restaurant is also very good with a scenic view.
Sibel C — Google review
Arguably the most magnificent palace in the Netherlands and it is easily reachable by public transport. It's massive so you really need a full day to explore the palace AND the fabulous gardens. Everything is breathtaking!
Dr S — Google review
Its a great place to visit. The tours inside the palace are nice. You can do a tour with a book so you can read from a folder you can get at the start or do an audio tour. Then the gardens are amazing especially when the weather is in your favor. Parking is close and not expensive (€8 for the day day)

Nice to see inside what furniture and style is in every room. Gardens are nice. But comparing to some other palaces and castles this one is not my top. But it is nice. What I loved is a restaurant inside where they have high tea, really nice design. And nice terrace outdoor. Plus they have some activities like archery or some other games that make you feel like you travel back in time.
Daryna H — Google review
The graden at the Palace is super cool. There are different types of plants, labelled. A lot of mini activities for kids for example archery. Coming to palace itself, it was pretty awesome. A lot of rooms to explore, though some of the floors are not meant for visitors. The roof is accessible as well via a lift - and there can be queues at the lift. Outside the palace, at the initial entrance, there are some historical artifacts to explore as well like the cars driven by the Royals and other stuff. Would like to complement the staff, who are really nice and approachable.

Second time visiting after more than 5 years. A great destination to visit with family or friends. A great day out to visit not only the palace but also the garden, the antique cars & carriages collection and the exhibitions. Good facility for visitors such as the toilets, lockers, parking, etc.

We didn’t go inside the palace, but with such beautiful weather we didn’t mind at all. The terrace was a lovely spot to sit, and the gardens are truly worth the visit : peaceful, well kept, and full of charm.

Sizzles at the Park is an elegant restaurant that recently relocated to a historic building with a rich past. The owners and their team strive to provide top-notch service in a contemporary setting where guests can enjoy coffee, cocktails, lunch, and dinner. This fine dining establishment has earned recognition in the Gault&Millau guide for its modern ambiance, friendly staff, and diverse cuisine influenced by Eastern and Latin American flavors.
We had the 3 course menu @ the park with the wine paring plus an additional oyster course for the appetizer. The sizzles G&T was good and pairing it with the very fresh oyster selection was great. The surprise 3 course menu was also good value for money. The wine pairing is also good but suggesting a more full-bodied red for the tenderloin course. Overall it was a great dinner and good service received from the staff. Ambiance and interior decor also fantastic for this restaurant.

The ambience of this restaurant is absolutely fabulous, hence the 4 stars. Then you have to choose whether you want a 3, 4 or 5 course lunch or dinner. Every course was a painting, but the main course was served at room temperature and the espresso also was not hot. Is this restaurant worth an other visit?

A real catch in a quiet part of Apeldoorn, next to the nice park and nice neighborhood. The food was awesome, something even better than I have expected. Lunch menu is quite short but made with nice professional touch. Had a duck breast with delicious sauce and vegetables. Recommended

Really really really good food in an upscale atmosphere and there aren't too many places like it in Apeldoorn. Personally not crazy about the shaggy carpet on the walls and the staff uniforms were not flattering at all. But having said that, the food was fantastic.

Hot spot in Apeldoorn. Nice restaurant with prix fixe menu, you choose # of courses and meat or fish. They can accommodate special requests if there are things you don’t eat. €49.50 per person for the 4 course menu. Wines were from €5 to €8 per glass. Very nice decor, excellent service and the food was good

Excellent quality food; beautiful interior and friendly staff. Of course, quality comes with cost and therefore prices are high but worth the visit for a delightful and exquisite experience. Enjoyed the 5-course dinner. So many great flavour combinations and staff was very accomodating with certain food preferences.

We had a great lunch at this restaurant. The location is great. Parking available free of charge behind the restaurant. They have a big and sunny terrace but inside also looks very nice with lots of flowers. Staff was friendly and attentive. We had a shared lunch, composed by the chef. All the items tasted really fresh and high on seasoning. The atmosphere was relaxt, space to have a private discussion but also enjoy the muted chatter of others. If you want to enjoy the lunch it works best if you have two hours of your time. And this is time well spent!

Very nice hotel and food. Really enjoyed the mixed grill and bar bites.

My review is based on their lunch buffet deal and not on a stay at the hotel. It's a buffet between 12.00 and 14.00, and you basically can eat as much as you want from their buffet section. The selection contains bread + spreads, salades, cold meat and fish, instant cakes and creams as dessert, and some warm dishes (sate, fries, pasta, lasagna, steak, grilled fish and some more). A selection of drinks are also included. Think about tea, coffee, milk and juices. So what do I think about this lunch buffet? It's not bad, but somehow it's still pretty "limited". While you do have all of these various dishes, the taste is pretty similar per category. And perhaps it's a bit bland for my taste. But why four stars still? The service is nice, very friendly and polite, and the price is at this moment still acceptable. For a price of 22,50 you get to eat and drink all you want in two hours. Lastly, the location and the hotel itself is pretty nice.

I have never written a review before, but this experience was just too much to stay silent. The room itself was very nice, and the staff are genuinely friendly and clearly trying. However, the lack of attention and the excessive waiting times were simply unacceptable. I had to almost jump out of my chair just to get noticed , whether for water, my next dish, or even basic service. I was there with my son. He had pasta, and I ordered a ribeye. After waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes, my steak arrived cold, with cold fries as well. They offered to prepare a new one, but I declined, I had already been waiting far too long. Even when it came time to pay, I had to stand up and go to the counter myself because the staff had disappeared after serving the last dish, else I think I would still be sitting there… All in all, it took more than two hours for just two people and two simple dishes with a desert. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience I have ever had in a Van Der Valk restaurant.

Omnisport Apeldoorn is a vibrant venue that hosts a wide array of events, from thrilling European and world championships in track cycling and athletics to lively concerts and trade shows. This modern complex boasts an impressive indoor cycling track, complete with comfortable seating areas that enhance the overall experience. Visitors rave about the friendly staff and the inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for sports enthusiasts. While some have noted it can get warm during events like volleyball games, the excitement remains palpable throughout.
Great complex, very accessible, modern and easy to get around. Went to see the Euro Indoor Championships of Athletics, was truly well organised!

A great indoor cycle track. Everything top of the line: the seating area, the hall, the atmosphere. The aptly named "handle bar" served nice and reasonably priced snacks and inner. The personal was friendly, even though the guards didn't let us take our own food inside. Awesome that I got to see the jr world championship here. I can only imagine how crazy the atmosphere must be when the real world championships are hosted. Would love to return.
Niels B — Google review
The VNL was amazing 🤩 but sitting in the back upstairs means that you'll see only some tiny players like watching the TV at home. They have stands with drinks and hotdogs, but expect to see a queue.
Elena L — Google review
I visited Omnisport Apeldoorn for the VNL volleyball matches. While the arena itself was nice and well-equipped for sports events, the overall organization was very poor. The venue was adapted for volleyball, but it was incredibly difficult and time-consuming to reach the designated seating areas. They didn’t assign individual seats, so everyone just sat wherever they wanted. This led to very long lines and unnecessary waiting times. On top of that, there were three different ticket categories, but there was no clear signage or guidance in the queue areas. As a result, many people waited in the wrong lines. Unless they change their system and provide assigned seating, I wouldn’t attend another event here. The venue has potential, but the management needs serious improvement.
Meryem G — Google review
It was too warm inside during the volleyball game tonight. For the rest, excellent atmosphere.
Melisa A — Google review
I cannot understand why a big and serious organization like VNL is organized in an arena dedicated for athletics. The sitting area for the suppoters are apperantly built just for the volleyball games. Finding the way to the correct seating location is totally a nightmate. It is like a labyrint. There are no space between the seat rows making it impossible to leave your seat for toilet or café. Not to mention the rudeness of the security staff. Hoping that VNL will not be held here anymore.

Winkelcentrum Oranjerie is a compact and well-established shopping arcade in Apeldoorn, known for its clothing stores and bakery/cafe. It forms the main shopping area along with the nearby "Hoofdstraat" and surrounding streets. As a regional shopping destination, it offers a diverse range of popular brand name shops and dining options. The mall itself, Oranjerie, is a modern establishment that takes center stage in Apeldoorn's retail landscape.
Café Backwerk is good, nice interieur, it feel like a second Le Place if you ask me But it's even better. It's a self served café, the persenal that works at the café is really nice! The pizza I took was 'pizza vers belegd' . For me it a bit huge but you can take 1/2 home if you like so. I also had a capachino a bit bitter but strong enough. Enjoy the images!

Incredibly ugly and soulless. Half the stores are vacant, so it feels empty and like there's no reason to come here. Crazy that it's the most expensive part of town with tons of foot traffic and they still can't fill it with stores.

't Zusje Apeldoorn is a top-notch eatery that offers a delightful dining experience with delectable dishes. The interior of the restaurant boasts an exquisite decor, providing guests with the option to choose between upper and lower seating arrangements. The menu predominantly features tapas, which are not only scrumptious but also meticulously prepared. This establishment's dedication to culinary excellence is truly commendable and justifies the price tag.
A Tuesday night visit and the place was busy, a good sign. The food and service was great. Being English and not having great knowledge of the Dutch language our waitress noticed my struggle and offered me a menu in English. All.the staff were very nice too. The food I would describe as tapas from around the world which is a great idea and also it was executed very well. I had at least 12 plates of food (portions are small) but very very tasty, I could have had 12 more but time was against me as was not wanting to put on lots of weight!!!! I would highly recommend as nice atmosphere and decor, great food and staff.

Excellent option for a long night out. Small plates were very tasty (some better than others but overall quite good). Bao bun was my favourite, the duck the least. Brownie with ice cream was delicious. Atmosphere is quite nice, my friends and I enjoyed the night so much we stayed there until almost closing time. Recommend for big groups or small cozy gatherings with close friends.

Had a great time visiting 't Zusje in Apeldoorn. Food (Tapas) looked amazing and was delicious. They put a lot of effort in it and it is absolutly worth your money. The restaurant has an 'All you can eat' concept so suprises regarding payment only come from ordered drinks. Book in advance, 't Zusje is extremely populair and no doubt full if you haven't. Burger King is a well-known fast-food establishment that offers grilled burgers, fries, and shakes. In Apeldoorn, there are also three McDonald's, three Subways, two New York Pizza takeaways, a KFC, Domino's, and numerous Dutch "snackbars" specializing in fries if one desires fast food. August 14, 2025 16:00h - It does not happen often that I place a bad review, but the only thing good about his place is that they actually had everything we ordered straight in the bag on the first try and fast too. Unfortunately here's where thing go wrong: - Upon entry the establishment gave a dirty impression as there were really no clean tables, even though 70% of the tables were vacant. - The toilettes were filthy, with napkins in the urinals and smelling bad. - Then the food. We ordered 5 burgers (2 Whoppers, 1 Big King XXL, 1 Vegan Big King XXL and 1 Grill Master). Fries, Twister fries and some desserts. None of the burgers seemed to have been put together with proper care. Opening the wrappers (parking lot mind you) unveiled molten cheese all over the outside with a load of thick raw onion slices, tomatoes falling out, just a big mess. And the Grill Master was. Grill Disaster. Wrapping it in a neat box didn't help their flag ship burger (price wise). Sauce all over the place, juices dripping out and soaking the bun and some kind of caramalised onion that didn't at all matched or complemented the flavor of the BBQ sauce. It never happens, but I didn't finish this burger and tossed it where it belonged (bin). The veggie Big King also had some strange flavor, not at all matching the original Big King. This burger also did not get consumed all the way. All in all it was our worst BK visit ever. Not going back here.

Cafe
Guusje, located in Apeldoorn, is a newly renovated restaurant that used to be the Flying Tiger store. The place offers a wide range of food and drinks from early morning until late at night. It's known for its selection of special beers and exquisite wines sourced from small vineyards. The menu features dishes made mainly from sustainable and local ingredients, ensuring flavorful meals with a story behind them.
Good restaurant, they always make nice desserts and delicious coffee. Matcha latte is also perfect . But sometimes we wait a long time for an order!

It was lovely to drop by on a long drive. We had nice coffee and service was sweet. Didn't know there were more good food so next time stay longer for bites!

I always thought that if you order salmon with avocado and a poached egg, there is no way it won't be good, but I was so wrong... The bread slices, one of them was 4cm high on one side and 1cm on the other, the avocado which was supposed to be cut in pieces and laid on the bread, was just a peeled half avocado that was uncut, will attach a picture or this beauty, since words cannot describe it.

Nice location and didn’t get too busy even at lunch time. Food was nice and a good price, same goes for the coffee. We got the feeling that the staff were a bit rude with us which ruined the experience a bit.

This is a cafe I really enjoy sitting there with great coffee. The location is perfect, the coffee is amazing, the staff is super friendly, but only gets my 2 stars because of the food. We ordered one brunchtafel and one scones dish, and there came several disappointments. Firstly, I don’t think the chef knows what a scone is. Look at the pictures below, I would just call it a small bread with overloaded vanilla extract. Secondly, the croissant was very oily, dry and old. I don’t know how they managed to make it like a 3-day-old chorus. Besides, it mentioned on the menu that there would be ham on the brunchtafel but we didn’t get it. The quality of the food (only food!) is just not worth of the price.

Very cozy restaurant! You can enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea time and dinner! The atmosphere is good! Good middle stop on a shopping day

Lovely service, very fast and followed up to see if I needed anything. Food was served fast, it was simple but quite cheap and tasted lovely. Decent beer and drink selection.

It's really cozy in terms of location, atmosphere and service. I can't comment on the menu because they have what you expect from a normal Café. It's a great place to go and spend time with friends.
