Clam Box of Ipswich

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
The Clam Box of Ipswich is a legendary New England seafood shack that has been serving fresh local seafood since 1935. Its iconic inverted trapezoid building, designed to resemble an opened to-go container, has become a local landmark. Featured on the Food Network and in Yankee Magazine, this counter-serve spot with an outdoor patio is known for its legendary fried clams and generous portions of seafood.
If you're on the hunt for the gold standard of fried seafood in New England, look no further than The Clam Box in Ipswich, MA. This iconic roadside shack has been drawing crowds for generations—and for good reason. Let’s talk about the star of the show: the fried clams. Golden, crisp, and tender, they strike that perfect balance between crunchy coating and sweet, briny clam. Every piece feels like it was hand-selected and fried to perfection. No rubbery bits, no heavy grease—just pure seaside indulgence. Now, let’s get real: it’s not just about the clams. The homemade tartar sauce here deserves its own spotlight. Creamy, tangy, and loaded with finely chopped pickles, it’s the kind of sauce that could make a fried shoe taste good. But paired with these fresh-fried clams? Absolute magic. Dip once and you'll understand why people hoard extra cups like it’s gold. Whether you're at a red picnic table in the salty air or grabbing a tray to go, the experience at The Clam Box is summer on a plate. It’s nostalgia, it’s quality, and it’s everything you want from a coastal seafood stop. Pro tip: Go for the whole belly clams. Accept no substitutes. And don’t skip the tartar sauce—grab two or three. You’ll thank yourself later.
Victor O — Google review
The line may be long, and so might the wait—but one bite and you’ll know it was absolutely worth it. Everything on the plate arrives golden and glorious, thanks to their masterful frying. We tried the haddock, calamari, and chicken—each one unbelievably fresh, perfectly crispy, and bursting with flavor. The onion rings? A crispy triumph. And don’t skip the tartar sauce—it takes everything up a notch. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and loads of parking make it easy to stay awhile and savor every bite.
Sachin S — Google review
Family recommended that we have lunch there. Great choice. The clams were outstanding. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean as we're the restrooms. The parking was a little crowded during lunch, but we finally got a spot. We enjoyed ourselves. I recommend it to others.
Sherrill N — Google review
Great lunch at the Clam Box of Ipswich, MA. If you like friend clams this is the place to go. We got there right when it opened at 11:00 and it got busy fairly quickly. You go up to a window to order, and they call you when your food is ready. I ordered the native fried clams. Native means the “bellies” are still attached. This makes them yummier in my opinion. If you don’t want the bellies you can order them without them. All this to say they were scrumptious!! Lightly fried and nice and crisp. There is also other seafood fare on the menu so if you’re not a clam fan you will be able to find something. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside in a covered picnic table area. I recommend a visit to The Clam Box…
Sharon C — Google review
Simply iconic! The best clam shack on the East Coast, and likely the best in the US. Make sure to try the fresh Ipswich clams, and the scallops are off the charts too! As you can see in the photo, they offer huge portions. Well worth the trip from anywhere in the world to eat at the Legendary Clam Box!
Craig M — Google review
We had dinner here. We both had the clam chowder, oh yummmm. Hubby had the clams and fries, I had clams, scoops and onion rings. Both came with coleslaw. There was plenty of food and delicious too!! We would recommend eating here.
Kami K — Google review
I have driven past this place so many times. I finally stopped in with my parents and the food was not up to par. The onion rings literally tasted like nothing. The only flavor I could taste was the cooked onion. The batter for all the seafood was bland also. Idk if they do this because all their clientele are seniors, but throw salt and pepper packets on the tray didn't help at all. I was severely disappointed especially with a mini scallop plate costing over $30. INSANE. I'll stick to Lena's Seafood.
Stephanie — Google review
Absolutely delicious Native Clams & and enormous Haddock sandwich. Quick service and charming New England atmosphere! We're glad the Clam Box was recommended by a server at another seafood restaurant!

1640 Hart House

American restaurant
1640 Hart House, located in Ipswich, Massachusetts, is a historic restaurant housed in an early American farmhouse. Dating back to the late 1670s, this charming establishment offers hearty New American cuisine and serves as a popular choice for both locals and tourists. The house itself is a fine example of early American architecture with five unique levels, several staircases, and 363-year-old fireplaces.
This was a great place to go. Dishes are around $25 to $40 but they are big. Ordered the Hart House Chicken and it was two large breast pieces and so much pasta. Come hungry. Drinks were strong. I got the Autumn Mule and it was larger than I thought it would be and it was great. Soup was also good. I got the clam chowder (as one does visiting the area), but it was a little too watery for me but the lobster chowder was great and had great consistency.
Ken L — Google review
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of hosting our wedding at The 1640 Hart House, and I can honestly say it was the most magical night of our lives. The entire experience was made possible by the unwavering support, guidance, and kindness of Kim and her incredible team. From the moment we began planning, Kim was always there for us—available to answer any questions, offer advice, and guide us through every step of the process. It’s so clear that she knows exactly what she’s doing. Her professionalism and expertise made us feel confident, and I could tell she was truly invested in making our day perfect. One of the biggest challenges we faced was our larger guest count, but Kim handled it with ease and confidence. She expertly arranged seating for the ceremony and reception, ensuring everything flowed smoothly, and we never once felt stressed or overwhelmed. Thanks to Kim, our day went off without a hitch, and we were able to focus on celebrating with our loved ones. Our guests can’t stop raving about how it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever been to—and a major part of that is because of how seamlessly the venue ran the night. Kim coordinated every detail perfectly, from ensuring the band was set up on time to making sure the florist had everything in place. The tables were beautifully arranged with plenty of seating, but also enough room for dancing and mingling—everything felt so open and welcoming. The guests loved having the entire restaurant to pick different rooms to hang out in. There was the bar section where people could watch college football that we requested them to show on the TVs, there was a porch so people could get fresh air and spend time outside, there are smaller rooms for people to group in along with the main reception room for dancing and more mingling. I was so grateful to have my own private bridal suite to get ready in, while the men had their own comfortable groomsmen room. Kim was so coordinated—down to the timing of when to walk down the aisle, making sure the guests were ready, and everything was in sync with the band. One of the biggest highlights of the night was the food and service of it. From the endless variety of hors d'oeuvres passed around to the buffet dinner, every single dish was amazing. Guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was, and there was never a shortage of food or drink. The dessert options were also incredible. The open bar and drinks being passed around ensured everyone had a great time. Kim and the team went above and beyond to make sure our guests were happy and taken care of throughout the evening. As the bride and groom, we also appreciated how the staff always made sure we were fed and had a drink in hand whenever we needed it. The attention to detail and the care they took to make sure we were taken care of made us feel incredibly special. Not only was the wedding absolutely beautiful and run perfectly, but it’s also an incredible deal for what it ended up costing. With weddings, you often get what you pay for, but we easily feel the value of the service we got goes above and beyond. The 1640 Hart House will always have a special place in our hearts. It was the perfect venue for our wedding, and we can’t imagine having celebrated this milestone anywhere else. We are forever grateful to Kim and her team for making our day so unforgettable. We look forward to celebrating future anniversaries and will be recommending this beautiful venue to anyone looking to host an event. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for making our wedding day everything we dreamed of and more!

We have been going to the Hart House for dinner since we moved to Ipswich in 2017. This review has been a long time coming! The food at the Hart House is always fresh and delicious. The imaginative seasonal dishes that the chef’s come up with are always worth ordering. Last spring, we tried an asparagus tart with goat cheese and right now they have a peach panzanella salad. The staff at the Hart House are nothing short of super people. We like to sit at the bar, where we receive attentive and thoughtful service. The waitstaff who come by the server station always smile and say hi and it really seems like everyone who works here enjoys where they are; which makes the dining experience very enjoyable. Sometimes it takes a little while to get a seat, which makes sense for how popular this restaurant is. Even when waiting a few, you’re always offered a drink while you wait. I can’t recommend this place highly enough! Special shout outs to Jackie, Maddie, Kiera, Todd, and Megan who are the only ones I know by name but with their whole crew make this a special place. Thanks everyone :) PS- if you’re very tall, watch your head.

Food was very good, and there was an excellent variety. The building is historic, and somewhat worn in places. Still had a great experience. I am intrigued by the rooms for larger groups that need to be reserved ahead of time.

Kim and her team put together the most beautiful wedding rehearsal dinner! From the atmosphere to the drinks to the food, everything was absolutely phenomenal! We couldn’t be more grateful for the Hart House!

This place is very different. Lots of little quaint rooms to eat in. Outside and rooftop seating as well. Our server was fantastic. Never hovered or rushed us, but was very attentive as well. The clam chowder is outstanding. Thin broth based like it's supposed to be

Hart house was an incredible experience from the rooms to the fire places to the food. Everything was great! Ask for a tour while you're there..they showed us every room in the house and gave us a little history about each room. Very well done, the servers were so nice and the food was fantastic. The portions are HUGE!
Jessica W — Google review
It was like stepping back in time. The history of the house from it's era of the 1600's of days gone by, was truly an inspiration to be part of. From it's unique rooms with the sloping wide pine floors, slightly slanted walls and stairwells. You can't help but let your imagination run wild thinking of the centuries of families that resided in this home as their residence. A lot of original nooks, floors, plaster walls, doors and hardware. The restaraunt has a great menu for both food and spirits. The service was fantastic, the food and cocktails we chose were delicious. Definitly will be returning. This visit we dined in one of the multiple private dining rooms. Next visit we want fo check out the bar and tavern on the main floor!

Russell Orchards is a charming fruit farm dating back to 1920, offering pick-your-own berries and apples during the summer and fall seasons. The family-run farm grows a variety of fruits including strawberries, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, currants, jostaberries, and apples.
Such a cool experience! So much to try from a well stocked shop. Apple picking is available but way more than we needed for a few days in town. We enjoyed a few good items and a hot non alcoholic cider. Lots of other produce from specialty wines, honey, baked goods, whole pies, ice cream, cooking books and much more. 🥧🍎🍏🍯🍦
Alan K — Google review
I love it here for a few reasons First is the quality of the fruit. Each field is full of little gems, tiny bombs of flavor. The way fruit is supposed to look and taste, not like the overwatered massive monstrosities you find at the supermarket or some other PYO operations. The whole farm itself also looks a little more wild and natural than your typical outfit. Second I appreciate the land acknowledgement they have on their website and the fact that it includes actionable real things that they do. Third everyone working here and the ownership are welcoming, open, and kind. This is the place!
Alex D — Google review
We stopped by to pick berries. The farm has many animals and is open to visitors. There is a local shop and a tasting room where you can try local drinks. Berry picking was fun. Afterwards we visited the animals and sampled the local drinks along with an apple cider donut. The donut was tasty but the drinks were not to our taste. The pesto sauce sold in the store was delicious and a bit expensive. I also recommend using insect repellent
Alperen I — Google review
Ambiance: Market-style store selling a variety of their own goods. There's fresh apples, baked items, fruit wine, and ice cream. Activities: Wine flights, a small pumpkin patch, and of course the apple fields where you can pick your own. Apple Donuts: Incredible! Fun to watch them made fresh, though I wish they came out warm. The sugar and cinnamon is in the inside rather than outside! Strong cinnamon flavor, not overly sweet. Apple Roll-Up: Warm and delicious, just like an apple pie in roll-up form with fresh apples and cinnamon. Apple Cider: The best! Fresh, slightly tart, mostly sweet, and so refreshing. Pure apple flavor.

I always enjoy stopping here when visiting my family. It reminds me of visits here when I was a kid. I miss the donuts straight out of the oven though. Check them out for local produce and other products!

Russell’s is a must-visit for everything Fall! From pumping out delicious, fresh apple cider donuts to apple picking and farm animals, to a bustling farm store with everything and more, it has something for everyone! They also have an extensive wine section and tastings, and their baked goods looked amazing too, definitely can get crowded but it’s popular for very good reason!
Cameron — Google review
Beautiful farm but how can you charge $12.95 for a gallon of apple cider?! I didn't see any prices. Checked out at the stand outside. Wondered why it was so expensive. Get to the car and look at my receipt. $12.95 for apple cider!!!! Crazy.
Justine C — Google review
I loved this place! Went today for a girls outing/ fall day. The country store was a delight (I spent too much lol). Kathleen who helped us next to the tractor rides was the absolutely nicest person. We loved today! PS the best apple cider donuts I have ever had.

Castle Hill on the Crane Estate is a magnificent English-style mansion set amidst 2,100 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. Originally owned by Chicago industrialist Richard Crane Jr., this historic estate features manicured gardens, a restored Grande Allee, and a Casino complex. The property also includes Crane Beach, the Crane Wildlife Refuge, and winding salt marshes. The centerpiece of Castle Hill is the 59-room Jacobean-style mansion offering breathtaking views of Ipswich Bay from its elevated position.
Castle Hill on the Crane Estate was an absolute dream. I had seen photos before going, but being there in person was something else — truly breathtaking. I paid for the ground entry and it was totally worth it. The place is incredibly vast, so be prepared to walk a lot and bring water! It's perfect for taking photos and simply soaking in the beauty of the surroundings. I would definitely go again.
Mariela G — Google review
The Crane Estate is one of the most breathtaking locations I’ve ever photographed. I recently captured an engagement session here, and it truly felt like stepping into a European estate without ever leaving New England. The sweeping views, the grand architecture, and the rolling lawns leading down to the ocean create the most romantic atmosphere. Every corner of the property offers a new backdrop—whether it’s the mansion, the gardens, or the dramatic ocean views. My couple absolutely loved their photos here, and it’s easy to see why this estate is such a dream setting for both weddings and portraits. If you’re looking for a venue that feels elegant, timeless, and cinematic, Crane Estate is perfection.
Margarita F — Google review
I cannot emphasize enough that you should wear comfy shoes, bring water, and take your time. The name should give it away but if you’re not from the area (like me) you wouldn’t know that the estate is really built on a HUGE hill. Several hills actually. It is not for the weak if you choose to see more than the house😅 Just wow 🤩 the views, the architecture, the history, and stunning landscape. You could spend the entire day here exploring or having a picnic. It has some amazing spots for a special occasion or proposal 😍. It was only $10 to get in per car unless you are a trustee. If it’s open (which it was!) you can explore the first floor of the 59 room estate. You can see the upper floor(floors) for an additional fee. We will definitely be going back to do the whole tour but we ran out of time that day. So I’m not sure what the price is for the whole house tour. But to walk/hike the grounds is just the $10 per car. There are some tables and chairs so you can sit and enjoy the scenery. There is a little gift shop with 20s everything you could imagine 🤩 very pricey but that’s to be expected. Definitely worth the trip to explore some beautiful scenery and to see a piece of history.
Katie G — Google review
We had seen this on a TV show and knew we wanted to visit it. This estate has beautiful views of land and water. We came close to the building closing time but had enough time to do a quick self tour. Once the building closed, we were still able to walk on the grounds. The scenery is beautiful and a fun stop to make when in this area!
Jeff — Google review
Beautiful estate, very neat place and love the history. We highly recommend you plan to get there for one of their tour times. The tour takes you to parts of the estate that regular guests can’t see. Definitely worth it and the staff were great and made the experience fun. We spent 3 hrs here and loved every minute of it.
Rikki M — Google review
Me and my husband stopped here after the beach since it was right down the road. We wandered the gorgeous grounds and the first floor, for the price its worth the stop. The landscape was breathe taking we were in aw!
ELOCIN R — Google review
Lovely grounds, but a cautionary tale about the falsehood of handicapped accessibility. I went today expecting I could easily push my way up a wheelchair ramp into the front doors to visit a beautiful home and gardens. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The gravel driveway is the worst for wheelchairs, walkers, canes, strollers, and any other mobility aid. You have to cross a very narrow stone path to the back across grass that's slick, then go over a large concrete lip to the backyard, where there's a narrow, non-permanent wheelchair ramp. Forget about seeing anything else on the grounds. Although the scenery is stunning, it’s definitely not accessible for disabled folks or tiny children in strollers with ease. I'm disappointed because it says 'accessible' on their webpage. They do have portable toilets, which might be fine for able-bodied people, but not for disabled folks like me. To their credit, the woman on duty (though I don’t know her exact position) was so embarrassed by the lack of access for disabled visitors that she told me they’ve petitioned to install a safe ramp. Unfortunately, it has fallen on deaf ears with the trust committee. Still, it's a beautiful place, and that doesn't change the fascinating history. The size is phenomenal, and I truly appreciated what I saw. Entrance fees are nominal.

Had so much fun exploring the rich history of the Crane estate. We had a wonderful time with our tour guide who provided an interactive experience for all of us ranging in ages 7-65+. We really felt the time travel vibe. And afterwards, we explored the many corners of this estate, including some giant chess, rose garden exploring, and trail hiking. Could have spent all day here!

Little Wolf Coffee is a top-notch roaster and coffee shop that's perfect for true coffee enthusiasts. They offer an impressive variety of traceable and single origin coffee beans, including unique small batches like sweet geisha varietals and cool natural processes beans. The care they put into their drinks is evident in the fantastic quality of their espresso, oatmilk cortados, and cappuccinos. The space itself is beautiful with ample seating, friendly baristas, and delicious pastries.
This coffee shop is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, cozy ambiance that feels like a perfect escape from the outside world. The decor is beautifully curated, with an aesthetic that’s both modern and inviting—perfect for everything from catching up with friends to unwinding solo with a book. The drinks here are good! They have a great selection of seasonal coffees and teas. The pastries are equally good—fresh, flaky, and the perfect complement to their drinks. You can tell they put real effort into every aspect of their menu. If you’re looking for a cute spot to visit after hanging out with wolves at Wolf Hallow, this place is it. Highly recommended!!!

The vibes in this place are incredible. So beautifully decorated and the pastries and coffee are so good. I got a honey cardamom latte and a chocolate croissant and neither disappointed. I didn't have time to stay but this is definitely a nice eat-in spot. They really seemed to have paid attention to detail and made a really lovely slow morning spot.

Great visit for a nice atmosphere mixed with unique, original design and flavor for coffee. The menu is far from complicated, but it offers an ample amount of options to try( which is genuinely hard to pull off). Staff service is very above average; friendliness, humor, and general built up atmosphere around the employees were top notch. Slight weakness personally was the croissant. It felt a bit too average compared to everything else being great.

I stopped by on my way to Newbury Port for a Capp, I went with the banana caramel cappuccino, and it was so good! The banana flavor was not strong nor artificial tasting. It was well balanced and the coffee beans were roasted perfectly. I took a vanilla iced latte to go and it was just as delicious. It was a bit hot in there, but it is well lit and has plenty of sitting area!
AlleyCat G — Google review
Their coffee ain’t my cup of tea (the beans have a very distinct aroma and taste. Reminds me of a hard wood roasted bean I had in Portland ME - speckled ax ) but I think their mixed drinks are fun. Little wolf and Mr wolf are interesting sweet concoctions. Gorgeous space. Baked goods taste like A&J so that’s a win in my book.

Great coffee and super friendly service! Lots of fun specialty drinks to try, and the bakery stuff was super good too. The matcha was hand whisked to order, which was nice to see when a lot of other cafes premix it into squeeze bottles. They also had a really cute merch section with stuff like stickers, mugs, t shirts, etc., and also some higher end brewing gear and bags of beans. Such a cool place to sit and hang out!

Just came to get some work done at the Little Wolf in Ipswich for the first time in a while and I felt compelled to get on here and express just how much I love it. The team is absolutely amazing, the atmosphere for both working and relaxing is great. The coffee is above and beyond, the care that goes into everything is obvious and it really shows through their curated specialty drink menu and homemade seasonal syrups. I absolutely recommend stopping every single time if you’re in the area.

It’s a beautiful space with plenty of tables. Baristas are very friendly and they did an excellent job preparing our lattes. Foam was smooth and latte art was beautiful. I liked the blue mugs that our lattes were served in. They offer pastries and cute merchandise with their little wolf logo. I wasn’t a big fan of coffee beans since it created a sour taste in out lattes. However when it comes to coffee, every person’s choice is different.

Known for its exceptional catering services, Pomodori recently came to the rescue at a wedding when another caterer canceled last minute.
Very attentive and efficient service. Online delivery was well coordinated. Staff called a few hours ahead of delivery time, let me know the status of order and if their was anything additional I would like to add or change beforehand. Driver was friendly and on time. Outstanding job. 10/10

Ordered an Italian with extra pickle and this is what I got. No veggies, mayo/oil, or even lettuce. just meat and pickles. I figured that was implied with an Italian but apparently not? Girl at the register didn’t care to clarify either. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back.

Pomodori delivered pizza and wings to our hotel for a wedding after party. Food was delivered around 9:30 pm and we returned from wedding around 11 pm. Everyone LOVED the pizza and wings- even at room temperature it was a huge hit. A special Gluten Free pizza was ordered for the bride and she LOVED it. A little seasoning goes a long way. The grilled chicken on my salad was tasteless and drier than the desert. I considered putting it in a blender with some water so I could swallow it. I feel bad that the chicken died and was cooked like this. Also the price is insane considering.

Food is a little pricey for the quality they offer, their place looks clean and looks great so you expect better food... not just another pizza house.

Ice cream shop
DownRiver Ice Cream is a must-visit spot with its unique and delicious ice cream flavors. The friendly staff are knowledgeable about the flavors and provide excellent service. The "Dirty Joe" flavor, featuring coffee ice cream with Oreo pieces, comes highly recommended. The shop is located in a converted house with a cozy backyard seating area. Despite the presence of mosquitoes outside, it's worth visiting for the amazing flavors and generous portions of ice cream.
Nice ice cream and an abundance of flavors. Details of each are on the counter window. The servings were reasonably priced and the lady serving was friendly.

Yum! This place’s ice cream is so tasty! You can tell it’s extremely fresh and very creamy. It’s conveniently located and has ample seating to enjoy your ice cream while kicking back. They have so many different types of flavors - combinations I’ve never seen before but they sure were tasty

Fantastic local ice cream spot, with a nice yard to sit in and enjoy your ice cream. The flavors are super creative with fun ingredients. We got the Salty C and Deer Tracks and both were delicious!

Headed on my way home after a suffering round of golf. Saw the line a mile long so I banged a quick u-uey and waited in line. Boyo that wait was worth it. The staff was friendly and helpful. I tried the Willy wonka experience and it was so good I wouldn’t even share it with Sydney Sweeney. Ended up catching a word with the owner and he told me he gets everything local and uses only the freshest ingredient's. He told me his favorite is Hog Island and Tree Sap which I will try when I go back. Overall 5 Big BOOMS and would recommend to everyone.

Nature & Parks
Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts is a stunning oceanfront park and conservation site that offers more than just a beautiful beach. The area features dunes, a pine forest, and recreational beach areas for visitors to explore. Additionally, the surrounding trails lead through diverse ecosystems of sand dunes, forests, and salt marshes while passing by the historic Crane Estate.
In summer, dogs are not allowed- you would also need a booking in advance. I sometimes go during summer without a dog, it is a great beach where you can actually swim with the water temp not bad as it is shallow. In autumn-spring, it is a doggo beach. My dog(s) love this beach. I have never walked to the end but I presume it is a very long walk. Crane beach membership is good to support the beach and if you go there often. I have been a member for many years.

$25 dollars for each car. Very popular and crowded, but has lots of space and a long strip of sandy beach to accommodate almost everybody.

I love this beach. They've got everything you expect of a privately run operation. The trustees do an excellent job with daily upkeep of the premises. You must order a "day pass" online "The Trustees of Reservations at Crane Beach" website where you can see in and off season rates and availability. Plenty of parking. Changing rooms with bathrooms, no flush composting toilets, and plenty of sinks with always full soap dispensers and multiple hands driers. Changing stalls are convenient so you can easily put on sun tan lotion properly everywhere and change into your swimsuit privately. They also have multiple outdoor shower head wash stations for after your day is done you can get that clammy beachy feel off of your body (would advise to bring some body wash as that helps to have a quick sudsy clean). They have a shop to commemorate your day at the beach with t-shirts, hoodies, and such like. They also have a place to eat if you don't come pre-prepared with food. There are miles of sand dune trails with the trailhead marker in the back right corner (as you come in at your 4 o'clock, roughly) of the main parking lot to access them all. Be prepared and pace yourself as a few miles will feel like more due to the nature of sand, and there are some tough trails that will leave you huffing and puffing if you try to run them for any length of time.

We drove for 3 hours and the manger didn’t allowed us to get in because it was full and no exceptions… this was my first time ever, I wasn’t aware that you need to buy a ticket a head of time… I wish people were nicer at the gate …. however the land around was beautiful such as Caste Hill House Great House… highly recommended it… the workers were much better and friendly…

Huge beach with fine sand. Ample parking available. Water is clear but a bit cold (came in mid June). Great for me but my girlfriend only went in and out. Parking requires prior reservation and is not cheap on weekends ($40) but overall well worth it
Sebastian — Google review
It is one of the best beaches in New England. I have come here a few times with my family already, and we always have a great time. The water was a bit chilly today, but the views are picturesque, and the sand is perfect for making sandcastles.
Arik B — Google review
This is one of my favorite beaches! From the scenic drive into the area, you will find a huge parking lot. The parking is by reservation only, so you must plan ahead. There are very clean restrooms, changing areas, and outdoor showers. There is a snack Shack where you can even order ahead to save time. The store offers all the things you may have forgotten like sunscreens, pails and shovels, towels as well as novelty items such as Crane Beach clothing, gear and even lovely created lotions an scents that will remind you of the beach every time you wear them! The walk to the beach is a bit long, but the mats through the dunes make it quite easy to get your carts to the sand. Once you are on the sand, you will feel it it very soft! The lifeguard tower serves as a nice reference point for choosing your spot. There is also an ATV that will shuttle the disabled, limited mobility, and elderly, so an extra 5-Stars for being accessible to everyone! The expansive beach has plenty of room for swimming, boogie boarding, and walking the shore to collect sea treasures. The waves and the shore slope are gentle, so getting in and out of the water is not a chore. Highly recommended and is almost always on the Best Beaches of New England list!

Wolf Hollow, located in Ipswich, is a conservation center dedicated to the protection of local carnivores. The foundation houses several wolves and aims to change the negative perception of these animals while educating the public on coexisting with coyotes. Visitors can explore a gift shop before embarking on an hour-long tour that provides valuable insights into wolf behavior. The presentation includes interactive elements and a Q&A session, making it suitable for families.
Took my wife here for Valentine's Day because she loves wolves so, so much. This place was SO cool! The staff were super amazing and you could tell they all love what they do and care a great deal for the wolves in their care. And the wolves love them too! Super informative and I loved that it was interactive. We plan to visit again for sure!! The wolves were so gorgeous. ❤️

Took my daughter for her 7th birthday today and I was so nervous because it was cold and rainy but it was actually really good. We were informed that wolves actually prefer the colder weather so we'll see them actually active versus in the summer where they just wanna sleep. Most of the presentation was under a covered pavilion so we didn't have to deal with the rain too much which was nice too. My daughter asked some questions and got really thorough responses and even got to help lead into a howl.

We went to a 10am presentation. The weather was cooler and rainy. This was in our favor, they were all out and active, where during warmer weather they aren’t. They had us under cover for the entire presentation and they did a fantastic job. They answered everyone’s questions. We learned about wolf behavior, history, what they eat and how they communicate with each other. I personally enjoyed watching their pack dynamic. It was a great hour and a half.

Wolf Hollow is a dream come true!!! It was awesome to get close to wolves and learn about them at a public presentation + Q&A. Very happy that we could do this while supporting a nonprofit that prioritizes an ethical approach to wolf husbandry above all else. Glad we caught the wolves on a cool day as they were so active. Thank you Wolf Hollow and your awesome staff!!! :)))

We visited Wolf Hollow this weekend, and it was an incredible experience. If you live in the Northeast—or are just visiting—this is a place you’ll want to add to your itinerary. The kids were just as engaged as the adults, not only because the content was fascinating, but also thanks to Zee Soffron’s passion for conservation and his engaging approach to education. He made our visit fun while deepening our understanding of these majestic creatures and reminding us how important it is to champion for their protection and be good stewards of the natural world! Thank you Zee and Wolf Hollow-Team!

Ipswich Ale Brewery, established in 1991, is a renowned craft brewery in New England. The brewery boasts an on-site restaurant and taproom called Ipswich Ale Brewers Table, offering a diverse menu featuring classic pub dishes and contemporary American cuisine. With 15 tap lines, visitors can savor the brewery's signature beers such as Original Pale Ale, Oatmeal Stout, India Pale Ale, Celia Saison, and Route 101 West Coast Style IPA.
The place was good you see, it has made itself you see from the barrel and added on hops on ingredients. So it's a nice place to go there. One thing, in the summer no one was there being slow because they're doing the summer active. So each seasons like this, they'd always showed up. So I do come here for 8 months. And some customers do show up. Now the best nearby brewery I ever went.

We came for lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The decor is typical brewery; Edison lights, some high tops, some low tops, lots of wood, you get the idea. Our server came right over for a drink order. I had a lemon blueberry shandy and then a raspberry berry sour. Both beers were good, but nothing special. I enjoyed that the raspberry wasn’t too sour. We started with a poutine appetizer which was delicious, and entrees included a burger, a fish sandwich, and a Korean bowl. No complaints. My fish sandwich was really good, and the tater tots were perfectly crispy. The server didn’t write anything down, and got everything right, very impressive! We will definitely go back.

Ipswich Ale Brewery in Ipswich, MA for a flight+ & a pint of some delicious New England suds. This was my first trip here so I was like a kid in a candy store except there was no candy, just a bunch of craft beer. I hadn't tried anything from these guys either, but saw they were only 45min from where I moved recently so I figured I'd make the trip. I had no idea that they had been in operation since 1991, making them the Massachusetts North Shores oldest brewery. They have a bunch of different styles, with ales seemingly being the main focus, but I figured I would try as many as I could. This job is hard, but somebody has to do it. 🍻🍻🔥💪☘ The first taster in my flight of four was the AMERICAN LAGER that I personally thought was excellent & a above average lager for sure. My second 4oz taster was the IPSWICH PILSNER that was another good light offering from these guys. Definitely off to a good start beer wise here so far. The third taster was the BLUEBERRY SHANDY that was just okay, but I'm not big into shandy's or radler's, I may just need to find the right one. The last 4oz I scooped was the CRANBERRY BERET Fruited Sour which was a average sour, I enjoyed it more than the shandy though. I then grabbed a pint of the flagship IPA simply named IPA, a above average delicious offering as far as American IPAs go. I finished off my visit with another 4oz taster of the HELLBOUND Barleywine, a yummy barleywine packed with tons of flavor & notes raisins & caramel. 🍻🍺🔥☘☘ I got a cheeseburger for lunch with tots (one of my many weaknesses) as a side to soak up the beer. The burger was good, but nothing crazy that I would go out of my way for again if I returned to the area. All the usual seating options with a big bar, hightops, tables & patio. The bartender was super friendly & sociable letting us know what was most popular beers were & the beers he personally liked himself. Plenty of beer to go as well for home or tastings with friends. Well worth checking out if you're in the area, they have a style of beer for everyone. 🍻🍻🔥☘✌♥️🍺 BEERGASM RATING - 69/90 🍻🍻🍻🔥🔥🔥🍆🍆🍆💦💦💦🏆☘✌♥️🍺 #wildweekend #craftbeer #supportlocal #beerstagram #BeerGoals #untappd #NewHampshire #newengland #newhampshireeats #beer #brewery #brewerylife #bartender #nhbrewed #nhbrewery #food #foodporn #beergasm #foodgasm #drinklocal #eatlocal #burgers #Massachusetts

My Boston native friend Janelle and New Yorker native me enjoyed the experience at the Ipswich Ale Brewery. Staff are friendly, beer selections are great, and we had a great time tasting beer flight with hearty sandwiches on Sat afternoon. (My fried chicken sandwich was a bit overcooked, but it's ok.) The bar counter is nice and interesting with an old fashioned car inside. There's outdoor seating available, too! This place is very relaxing and good for couples/friends/families!!

We've been relying on the Ipswich Ale Tapmobile for years to bring delicious beer to our annual summer party, and they always deliver an outstanding experience! This year, for our approximately 100 guests, we served three fantastic types of beer: Blueberry Shandy, American Lager, and RT 101 WC IPA. All three were a huge hit, and the quality of the beer is consistently wonderful – everyone always raves about the options. Our bartender this year, Cheryl, was absolutely great. She was incredibly friendly, kind, and handled our lively crowd with ease. She was even kind enough to take photos of us upon request, so we could remember that wonderful day! We were also thrilled that our neighbors, who happened to own corny kegs, were able to take home the leftover beer, which was a fantastic bonus! We highly recommend the Ipswich Ale Tapmobile to anyone looking to elevate their party with delicious craft beer and excellent service.

Beautiful night out on the deck with our puppies. Food came out quick, friendly, attentive servers. Menu is diverse with a few gluten-free and generally healthy options. Everything we ordered was delicious. Those tater tots were perfectly crunchy. Tried a new beer and was not disappointed.

Very cute place. The ac works really well. We got the Thanksgiving egg rolls and they were delish. The brewers burrito was good but he chicken was a bit dry and stringy. Tater tots crunch was on point. I enjoyed the blueberry shandy too! The waitstaff was great.

Sandy Point State Reservation is a 77-acre wildlife preserve located on the southern end of Plum Island. It offers stunning views of nesting terns and plovers, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The beachcombing and fishing opportunities make it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. At low tide, the expansive sandy beach is perfect for leisurely walks and kids playing in tidal pools. The area also features interesting waves and plenty of rocks and shells to explore.
Really lovely place to explore on a nice spring day! Got to walk along the beach and do some trails. The kind of place that reminds you how amazing New England really is. Entry is $5 but well worth it.

Love this beach, it's clean and not rocky, sand is fine sand and the waves are great for body surfing. Not a lot of parking so you need to get there early if you want a spot to park. Great place to chill with the family and have a fun day at the beach.

At the very end of the 6 mile Parker River Wildlife Refuge. Pristine, easy access. Limited parking, easily sold out..go early or later day. You won't be disappointed. Sandy beach. Portable toilets, clean on days I visited.

We have been coming here for the past three years with our young children. It is the perfect size beach with soft sand and calm waters for families. There is a sandbar 40ft out and the deepest it gets from the edge to the sandbar is maybe 1.5ft. My young kids now 3, 4, & 6 can splash and play in the water with almost no riptide and the tiniest of waves. The only downside is there isn't much parking so plan to be there early unless you don't mind a little walk on a gravel road. There is a porta potty but no changing rooms or rinsing stations. Not a big deal since the sand brushes off easily when dry. It costs $5 to park and there is a pay station at the beach entrance. Definitely recommend Sandy Point Beach and will continue to come here.
Matt B — Google review
Stunning beach with a large salt marsh and trails. Peaceful and uncrowded, even on July 4th! Clean, clear water. Soft sand. There were areas with medium sized rocks (where I saw a few people fishing), and then areas with no rocks or shells whatsoever. Limited parking but we went around 1pm and had no issues finding a spot. Paid $10 in total to access (the state park charges $5 separately from the main beach entrance of $5). A bunch of the upper parking areas have no beach access right now due to bird nesting. The bugs were annoying, and unbearable once the sun stopped shining on our spot. Greenhead fly bites pinched! Wish we brought bug spray.
Jessica M — Google review
Located on the southern end of Plum Island, it truly is a gem of a spot. At low tide, ideal for kids playing in tidal pools. Nice Sandy beach. Outhouse at parking area. Small parking lot fills up quickly(lot of empty spots at 9 am Tuesday on July 18, 2023). Buy a season pass at the gate house (annual is $20). They will post signs if Sandy Point is filled, allowing you entrance to the major beach just on the left. Other beaches and parking areas are closed during bird nesting periods. Good nature trails and bird observation platforms. Green heads were a problem for us, even with a wind. Expect your auto to get dusty as the last several miles are packed gravel. Bring an extra bag and feel free to pick-up plastic and other debris that has washed ashore or discarded which is deadly to marine and animal life. We visited P.I again for a picnic on March 13, 2024 and met an aspiring gymnast as seen here. Two vids taken from an observation tower on the way to Sandy Point. Be sure and visit the memorial to “Bill Marble 1876-1953, Outward Bound” etched on a large rock at the edge of the woods.

Marini Farm Stand, a third-generation farm in Ipswich, offers an array of fresh produce and more. In spring, visitors can explore the greenhouses for various plants. The farm stand opens in early summer, featuring a changing selection of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and specialty items. Additionally, the farm provides activities such as an 8-acre corn maze and hayrides. Families can enjoy games and sitting areas while indulging in fresh apple cider and donuts from the attached farm stand.
This farm stand and corn maze are always a lot of fun. It's a huge farm with a lot of kid-friendly activities and games. There are two corn mazes, one is 1 acre, and the other is 8 acres, but they provide you a flag pole, just in case you get lost in either of them. There are carnival games, climbing playgrounds, and a large bouncy bubble on site for the kids to play on, which are all included with your ticket for entry. There is a lot of free parking on-site, port-a-potties, and a farm stand, which has a separate, but still free, parking lot. There is also a tractor ride that is also included with your purchased ticket.

I love this beautiful farm store! This trip we purchased a dynamite pie. BIG MISTAKE! We should have bought TWO!! This is seriously the freshest, most delicious pie in memory! My goodness. Looks as though we'll be returning tomorrow for another.

We booked a hayride to a bonfire / smores and had a perfect night! Mike Marini drove the tractor for the hayride and his buddy, Jim, stayed out in the field with us to replace firewood and to help us with anything else that we needed. I highly recommend booking this!! This also included the corn maze but it was too chilly out for us. Both guys had great personalities and were genuinely happy to help us and happy that we were there. I wouldn't have chanced a thing!

Amazing weather for a perfect day at this farm! Visiting from New Jersey and it was a ton of fun for kids and adults! Price is extremely reasonable for everything you get unlimited! Several areas for kids to play in including: slides, corn mazes, pirate ship, tractor pulled train, a big jumping trampoline, and more! We rode the hay ride and there were several characters; spiders man, Goofy, Gru and tons more giving candy to the kids to put in the goodie bags they provide!

The kids had fun yes, but this was crazy expensive. We paid $80 for our family of 4 . $19.99 per person is crazy. Most places similar that we have been to charge per CHILD, not for the adults. . My husband I just sat and watched my child play for about an hour, while my toddler napped in stroller . They should only be charging for the children in my opinion, not the adults. Its literally all kid stuff. We live right in Ipswich and its a shame that my family cannot afford this. :(

A great spot for fresh baked goods and family-friendly activities. They have a nice variety of desserts, especially pies and cookies. The place is fun for a day out, but I wish there were more staff around to help with questions. Overall, it’s a solid choice for some good treats and a family visit.

Great place for kids and families. Tons of slides and activities. My only comment is that the $20 per person entry is a bit steep but nonetheless they do a great job.

Thank you so much, Mike, for donating the five pumpkins for my son's classroom. The seafood is incredibly fresh and tasty! I got the seafood bake combo and my husband got the Cajun chicken and steak tip combo, they both were delicious and in large portions. There are plenty of other options to choose from with even bigger portions too. The staff are super friendly and accommodating for any food allergies or restrictions. It looks family-friendly too. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. All around it was a great experience!

One of my favorite places to go. The atmosphere and the vibes are always great, and of course absolutely love the food. I always get either the baked combo which comes with shrimp, scallops, and haddock. Or the lobster pie. You will definitely get more out of the baked combo meal, and I think it’s more worth it than the lobster pie. Both baked dishes, though are very delicious. I always get sides of mashed potato and squash, super flavorful! You can’t go wrong with the pumpkin beer as well. It’s a great family place to go. They also have a family room in the back of the restaurant that could seat about 12 people, you definitely need to request this room a few weeks in advance if you want to guarantee the space. Enjoy!

Went to the Boat House Grille in Essex on our family’s New England roadtrip. NE Clam Chowder did not disappoint. Excellent seafood. Stellar service. Overall, will 100% come back if ever in the Essex area again!

There were serious discrepancies between web prices and actual prices. For example, the web says $2.25/oyster in raw bar, it is actually $4.25. The tower is $130 instead of $80. I understand things got expensive but someone should update the prices. To be fair you can get the correct prices on their website. I ordered the fried seafood platter since I might as well as have the Ipswich clams. I was so looking forward to oysters though.

The food was delicious. We tried Arancini oysters and Calamari. Calamari was different and delicious compared to other restaurants. Arancini was not very tasty. Oysters were very fresh, just a bit expensive. Cocktails are very successful. In general, I can say that the restaurant has a parking lot, food quality and taste, alcoholic drinks are successful. On the negative side, it is a bit expensive.

I went here for a surprise birthday party with a large group. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we had everything quickly. The food was ok at best. Dont get the clam chowder here. It is not your traditional new clam chowder. It is really watery and tasted off. I also had the fried haddock sandwich and it was soggy and crumbled to pieces when I tried to eat it. The batter was thin and the fish had no taste. My girlfriend had the short rib and enjoyed it, which is the only reason I gave the food 2 stars. Other people in our party had parts of the dinner come out ice cold. When they asked the waitstaff they were told it is supposed to be that way. Funny thing is other people in the group ordered the same thing and theirs came out hot. I was really disappointed with quality of food considering the overall rating was around 4.5. Wish I had of read the more recent reviews more carefully. After being disappointed i went back over the recent reviews. It seems like the restaurant used to be really good but maybe a recent change in the kitchen staff has made many others really disappointed. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I ordered Cajun seafood broil, with mashed potatoes and squash. Unfortunately, the experience was not good. The squash and the mashed potatoes were not even lukewarm, and the seafood was overcooked, and drowning in a puddle of some unknown, commercial oil. I wish the cook would use real butter, and not overcook such a potentially nice dish. That combined with serving the sides warm would’ve made a nice meal. At $50 for one plate of food, and salad, not using butter and opting instead for commercial and inexpensive oil is a shame. I wish they had taken better care.

Driving back to Gloucester, from my home in Maine, we stopped here to take care of a hunger situation. We have been here several times before and enjoy the great service and meals which are unique, despite common names. For instance, I enjoyed a panini style grilled cheese sandwich. Tasted wonderfully different. Gouda cheese with a slice of tomato and lots of bacon on sourdough bread. They have Old Speckled Hen beer on tap, that was an unexpected treat, since it isn't easy to find in American pubs. My soulmate chose Chicken Rockefeller. The portion she was served was enough food for three full size people. Chicken was tender and delicious and hid from view a mountain of spinach and cheese. The spinach wasn't overcooked like one gets at most places, although, in this serving, It was about halfway there. Hard to avoid in this dish. It came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable, for which my honey chose butternut squash. The bartender was a woman whose name I didn't catch, who was extremely capable at her craft. Bright, cheerful, attentive and efficient. Every time I have been here, the staff has impressed me.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Majestic Dragon. This beloved restaurant has been a local favorite for over 30 years, known for its warm atmosphere and delectable cuisine. The friendly staff, led by the charming Annie, ensures that every guest feels right at home. Whether you choose to dine in or take out, you'll be treated to excellent food that keeps patrons coming back time and again.
I am not rating just the food or service they are great. I am rating the place as a whole. A wonderful family that owns and runs it. From Annie and Adam also my budweiser companion Tony who was full of life and smiles. I had never felt so welcomed in any place as this. They surly will be missed, but a well deserved retirement for Anne. I hope life has good in-store for them. I wish the family well, am glad I had them in my life. Even if it was only a short time.

Just ordered a pick up order as we are here on vacation and have an early flight in the morning. Take out in pjs in the hotel...NOT from this place! Ordered shrimp lomein WITHOUT onions and chicken chow fun. So, lomein was full of onions and the shrimp weren’t even deveined! Disgusting! The chicken chow fun was an overcooked sloppy mess! This food was disgusting!!! Shameful! Beware!

We have passed this place several times and wondered why there were only a few cars in the parking lot. After eating at this restaurant, I now know. The bar was pretty full but the main dining room basically empty except for us. The food was tasteless with lots of soy sauce. The fried dumplings were so bland . Nothing was even worth the money we paid.

Been here a couple of times now. Same experience both times. Typical Chinese food. Nothing special. The restaurant was almost empty except for the bar. The waitress/hostess was more interested in the men at the bar than in serving us at the booth she sat us at. We could have walked out without paying easily after waiting 15 min for our check and still did not come. Walked out to register and still 10 min wait while she chatted and giggled with the boys. I wanted to see how long it would take. She was nice when we seen her. I won't be ever going back there is just no reason to really!

Have been going here for over 30 years, and never been disappointed. Used to enjoy the live music years ago, the corned beef on St. Patrick's Day. So many wonderful, enjoyable memories. A welcoming place to eat in, or take out. Excellent food, friendly, clean, and an amazing owner. Highly recommend! ANNIE is the nicest person, and makes everyone feel welcome! Try it, you will love it!

Food was great. Always is. Service was ok. They were not heavily staffed when I was there. No atmosphere at all. Very disappointing. I've been going here for 20 plus years. No place mats, Fortune cookies or tea. Very bare bones. And bee's in the window at our booth.

Not a welcoming place. We sat at the bar and it took a few minutes to get waited on even though there were 3 servers look right at us. The bar top was sticky and the place is older and looks a little run down. There were regulars in all the other seats at the bar and they were very loud and obnoxious. The positive is that when we did get helped the Mai Tai was good and the apps we got were decent. I would not suggest this place unless you are picking up take-out.

Very good, made to order food with large portions. I recommend sharing your entrees. Service was efficient but not friendly. The outside of the restaurant is deceiving because you do not realize how big this place really is inside. Easy access from US Route 1 in Ipswich.

Willowdale State Forest, located in western Ipswich, is a vast public land offering diverse outdoor recreational opportunities. The forest includes the picturesque 100-acre Hood Pond, ideal for fishing and canoeing. On the east side of Route 1, visitors can explore a sprawling wooded area with fire roads and singletrack trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing in winter.
Willowdale State Forest offers diverse trails for all levels, winding through over 2,000 acres of scenic woods and wetlands. It’s perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running, with well-marked paths leading to peaceful ponds, streams, and impressive rock formations. Wildlife sightings, including deer and songbirds, are common, adding to the immersive experience. In winter, the trails are excellent for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. This tranquil spot is ideal for both adventurers and those seeking a peaceful escape into nature.

Amazing trail, so calm and Woody! Some party of trails are so dense that you feel deep inside the forest. The afternoon sun dappled the forest floor, painting the packed earth of the trail in shifting patterns of gold and shadow. Stepping into Willowdale was like entering a different, quieter world, the sounds of Boston melting away behind the first stand of white pine and oak. The air was cool and carried the rich, clean scent of damp earth and decaying leaves. I followed the winding path, my footsteps a soft crunch alongside the cheerful babble of a hidden brook. Sunlight burst through a break in the canopy, illuminating a carpet of emerald moss so vibrant it seemed to glow. It was a complete and sudden sense of calm, a gift from the woods.

An amazing place to walk, hike, and mountain bike. Miles and miles of awesome singletrack. This is where I grew up mountain biking. I feel so lucky to have been given access to this park and it's amazing dirt!

Willowdale State Forest is very large and spreads from both sides of route 1 and the paths throughout the woods can take you from town to town so make sure to have a map of some sort. The side near Marini Farm in Ipswich is great for mountain biking snow, rain, or shine.

Huge reserve with tons of trails. We hike here often and almost never walk the same set of trails twice. There is always something new to see or a new entry to try. Lots of variation from wetland to old growth pine forest to riverside and open field. We see horses, bikers, hikers, and runners. Highly recommended. Most of the trails are identified by numbered intersections. The trails themselves vary in difficulty and range from singletrack to pavement. There's no good trail map at the trail heads so it's recommended to download the map to your phone before you go.

Northern Lights Farm Stand is a preferred destination regardless of the season. It offers an abundant selection of recently harvested vegetables and freshly baked goods. However, the true highlight lies in strolling through the premises. For a mere $50 per month, visitors can freely gather as many flowers as they desire from their stunning floral fields located at the rear. Disappointment is non-existent during this time of year due to its captivating beauty.
Cozy shopping. Stopped in for apples, took home some gourmet pasta, and a locally made pasta sauce for dinner. Great selection of local products, unique flavors, and fresh fruits and veggies. Staff was friendly, and the roaming bunny and rooster were helpful in pointing me to the pasta.

One of our favorite stops for any season of the year. Always has fresh vegetables and fresh baked goods available. But the best part is walking the grounds. They even have a deal for $50 a month. You can cut all the flowers you want. The fresh flower fields in the back are incredible At this time of the year was no there’s disappointment. The animals are always friendly and eager to come up to you and say hello. And the owner is one of the nicest you’ll ever meet. Can’t go through the town without stopping by. #stevensleavin

Bialek Park

Park
Bialek Park is a fantastic destination that truly offers something for everyone, making it an ideal spot for families and sports enthusiasts alike. With its well-maintained playground featuring soft wood chips, children can safely enjoy the swings and play structures. For those who love sports, Bialek Park boasts a basketball court, three baseball fields, and two mini soccer fields located behind Kimbal. The expansive grounds provide ample space for kicking around a rugby or soccer ball.
This is a very nice park. They have a lot of fields and a lot of room for a lot of activity. We were there for the Special Olympics events that were being held on that day but I think it's a fantastic place to have them. The track is nice and made for running and the long jump pit had plenty of really nice sand. All the kids had a fantastic time that day and the weather was perfect. We appreciate being able to have the games there. Thank you.

All natural baseball field in Ipswich. Grounds are not level and infield has small rocks in the dirt. Small grandstand on 1st base side. Wedged into a neighborhood. Limited parking. Open dugouts. No cages or bullpens. Has kids playground beyond left field fence.

Great, expansive park with a skate park and plenty of playground equipment. Soft woodchips, plenty of seating. Unfortunately some folks don’t follow the “carry in, carry out” rule, so we did encounter some litter!

We were baby sitting our friend’s two year old daughter and took her here. She absolutely loved it. There’s something for all ages there. The swings are nice. The whole play center is really neat and well put together. I wish I had this park when I was a kid.

Fun, clean park with ball fields and a skatepark nearby. Plenty of stuff for toddlers to older kids.
Chris W — Google review
Bialek Park is a fun place to bring the kids. It has different play structures than most of the playgrounds in the area. Love the tables with a big umbrella over them. Fairly well maintained.
Jennifer P — Google review
Decent playground, but the choice of the town to make it a "carry in, carry out" park has caused it to look terrible, with trash and plastic cups and bottles everywhere. I had to tell my two year old to put down trash a number of times . Put two trash barrels in, and have the city truck come by once every two days to pick up.
Stephen M — Google review
Great park. The grandsons had ball. However, some I'll bred jerks left a lot of trash behind. I suspect teen partiers. The park is not open after dark, and police patrols should prevent this. Bring an idiot stick, gloves, and a trash bag.

Nestled in a charming medieval-themed setting, 1634 Meadery invites you to explore the ancient art of mead-making, a delightful beverage crafted from the fermentation of honey and water. This unique establishment offers an indoor tasting experience at the bar or a relaxing time on their patio, where you can sip on various meads that showcase local fruits and raw honey.
Recently visited during a trip to salem for a Halloween. The tasting was a great experience, staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The staff was also accommodating when it came to the fact me and my wife had our son with us. We will definitely visit again and mail order when we cannot.

Fantastic artisanship. Don't let the small size of the tasting room fool you. This guys are legit and their meads are delicious. Viking Victory had been my favorite for a while but after todays flight it has moved down to third or fourth place behind Hatchet Hannah, Blueberry Cream and Strhuberry. The Mead Master who I caught working on a new batch also served me and was really helpful and knowledgeable. It's always a treat when I come in.
Diesse D — Google review
Not what we expected size-wise (we were thinking it would be in a bigger building), but great things do come in small packages! It's cute and cozy, making it a great spot for a casual drop-in if you fancy a flight or two 😄 All puns aside, it was a great visit. The owners were on site, ensuring guests were satisfied and helpful with selecting meads that matched what the customer taste preference was. My partner and friends loved the mead flight as it has a broad spectrum from dry to sweet. Sampling was definitely encouraged, especially for people coming in not knowing what mead is. Prices are fair - flight, glasses, bottle. We even found a couple of off-season flavors in their gift shoppe and had a blast trying to pick which bottles to take home. If you are looking for something different that hits that sweet spot, this is the place you're looking for!
Jeannie L — Google review
"What's Mead?" you ask. That was my first question too. In simple terms, it’s honey wine. Not knowing what it is adds to the enigma and the satisfaction of discovering a whole new type of wine. 1634 Meadery is a hidden gem with a cozy, neighborhood-bar vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff—and the owner—are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. We started with a sampler, which gave us the chance to try their most popular meads along with a few seasonal specialties. Each pour was unique and delicious. When we were undecided about what to purchase, the bartender went above and beyond, generously offering a few extra samples to help us choose. That level of hospitality is rare and truly appreciated. If you are ever driving through Ipswich, do not miss this place. Whether you’re a mead enthusiast or just curious, 1634 Meadery is an experience worth savoring.
Uday — Google review
We stumbled on this place, which was serving flights of mead. I didn’t think I liked mead, but have not changed my mind. We especially liked the honey-only “Wench” and cloves/cinammon flavored “Viking”. We ended up buying a couple of bottles for special occasions. The server was really well-informed, down to earth and helpful. What a fun little place.

Stopped by for an afternoon tasting after discovering 1634 at a local concert event. It was a beautiful spring day to sit out under the awnings provided, and Matt was prompt in welcoming our group and presenting our tasting options. We decided to try the flights for $12 which included a 6 sample variety. Matt was thorough and explained our flights with great detail, which we appreciated! We all enjoyed the samples and had a tough time choosing our favorites. We also met the owner, Dan, who was friendly and happy to share his passion, answer our questions, and told us more about their operation. Both Matt and Dan were gracious hosts and made our afternoon enjoyable! They also have a small bar inside for tastings year round. We all left with a bottle to bring home, and would certainly return. Highly recommend stopping by for a tasting and to pick up a bottle of their many offerings!
Amanda M — Google review
What a fantastic place! We really enjoy the historical charm of the tasting room. The staff is very knowledgeable and shares a variety of details about each type of mead. The meads are absolutely delicious, and there is a wide variety to satisfy all taste buds! We visit often and always enjoy the atmosphere, mead, and the company.

We had an amazing time here! We went on a Sunday afternoon in July and it was quiet, so we had the chance to talk for a long while with one of the staff. They were so kind and answered our questions about their mead and the process of making it. The tasting flight was a great way to taste 6 of their current meads and get a sense of the difference flavor profiles. Definitely needs to be on your list of stops in Ipswich, MA!

AnnTiques is a store in Ipswich that offers a vast knowledge of the area and its contents. The showroom, while currently being prepared for a movie shoot, holds an abundance of unique items. If you're seeking quality vintage goods, this eclectic collection is worth exploring. However, if you prefer inexpensive items, it may not be your ideal destination. Ann and her husband are present at the store and even have an adorable dachshund puppy to meet.
Worth visiting! They have some interesting and unique stuff- and the place is huge. They have an adorable dog, and parking was also easy

Awful experience. The owner followed us closely and when I was ready to pay she told me she had been meaning to change the price tag. She quoted me DOUBLE what the written marked tag said. She was inflexible and disingenuous. I declined the purchase and she was rudely saying are you sure? It's a beautiful piece. I was trying to get away politely and she kept talking at me. The price marked clearly was $250 and she told me it would be $500. I have since seen many poor reviews that reflected our experience. I wish I'd read reviews before I went in. VERY disappointed and she was very unprofessional.
Laura L — Google review
Buyer beware, unethical bait-and-switch! Ann had candlesticks priced at $250 but doubled it to $500 at checkout. Here’s what happened: my brother-in-law was holding a candlestick, and Ann mentioned it was part of a pair. He replied, “I know, my wife has the other one.” From that point on, Ann following them around the store as they browsed other items, eventually trailing them to the counter. That’s when she suddenly announced that the candlesticks would cost more than what was listed on the price tag, claiming she had moved them from another store and wanted to raise the price but “hadn’t had the time.” My sister-in-law asked what the new price was. Ann didn’t even know. She had to ask what the price tag showed. When my sister-in-law told her it was $250, Ann declared, “They are now $500.” She literally doubled the price on the spot. Where did she come up with double when she didn't have a clue what they were worth without knowing what the price tag showed? At $500 they were overpriced, so my sister-in-law didn’t buy them. There are so many red flags here. Even if I take Ann’s excuse at face value, that she “intended” to change the price, she essentially admitted she knowingly put them on the floor with the wrong price. She had plenty of opportunities to say something earlier, especially when she first approached my brother-in-law about the candlesticks or when she hovered over them as they browsed the shop with candlesticks in hand. But she didn’t. She only hiked the price once they were ready to pay, which feels manipulative and dishonest. After this experience, I read several other reviews where Ann reportedly pulled similar price-switching tactics on other customers. When it comes to antiques, trust in the seller is absolutely essential. Based on my experience, I do not trust Ann and I won’t be shopping at her overpriced flea market again.
Brian M — Google review
Owner seemed nice enough I guess, even if a little snooty. But EVERYTHING I was interested was WAY overpriced. Asked to look at a sterling silver necklace because I couldn’t see the price and wanted to examine the piece further. The tag said $185 and she said, but that’s just for the chain and doesn’t include the pendant. What? It wasn’t particularly large, heavy, or unusual in any way. So I had to pass on that piece. I asked to look at another piece and I remember thinking, okay that’s a reasonable price. Just as I was having that thought she said, oh well that’s not the price anymore with the price of silver right now. I asked, to clarify, “so the price is not the price on the tag?” She said no with the price of silver now I can’t sell it for the price of yesteryear. I said well if you bought it in yesteryear… she then said, well I have to replace it. What?? You don’t replace items in antique stores, you acquire new inventory… If you want to raise prices update price tags, if you haven’t done that honor your prices… Final straw was an unpriced item. I asked how much she wanted, she said $125. I asked if it was sterling, she said I don’t think it’s marked, it’s old. I asked if she acid tests her items and she scoffed and said no. Also scoffed and seemed not to know what verdigris was. All of this was after I heard her tell another guest that she “never lowers prices.” Only reason I gave this place two stars is because my husband found a few records for a reasonable price. I would not return.
Crystal B — Google review
Great shop! Way bigger than my it looks from the outside. Ann was so nice as was her little dog we almost didn't even notice. They even had little snacks and drinks set up. We all found something to take home.

Boris N — Google review
Shop owner Ann makes your feel welcome the second you walk in the door and is very accommodating. There is a whole room dedicated to antique jewelry (lots of sterling silver) and lots of scarves and hats. Store is big on the inside, taking up almost the whole block.
Kaitlyn R — Google review
Extremely disappointing. High prices, not welcoming, and rude. Watch out for Ann - not only will she try to increase the price of the items you find, she'll then try to convince you should buy it anyway. UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL. The tavern boasts a cozy atmosphere that welcomes guests with open arms.
We were here at like 11pm on a Saturday and stayed till closing. We actually chose this place because they're one of the few bars open late in the area. I had a very delicious margarita and everyone else enjoyed their drinks as well. When we got there, there was nowhere to sit inside but plenty of seating on the outdoor patio. The staff was so friendly! Like, delightfully, surprisingly friendly. Definitely good vibes from this place. Also, a nice, clean ladies bathroom!

Found this place with a Google search. Was not disappointed!!! Outdoor dining area with several tables, TVs, and music. Indoor game room with old school video games, pool table, and other bar games. Decent draft and can selection of beers. Lots of standard pub grub and some cool twists on traditional favorites. "Tater Totchos" are tater tots covered with all the Nacho fixings. There is a list of Quesadillas available. Daily specials includes half-price appetizers before 5pm on Saturdays. Onion Rings are Big Wally's favorite and these were very good. Well-battered and crispy. Mrs. Wally got the steak tips and loved them. I got the Taven Mac & Cheese with Buffalo Chicken. Be warned it is a giant helping, very cheesy with a good sized helping of chicken. Very friendly and helpful staff. Shout out to Stephanie for her great service and food suggestions.

It was very cold inside but where we sat was not crowded. Would have liked to have a Malbec available for my father. The bartender Corey was a rock star, but I do think on game days there should be a server to help him. He was running bar, bar tables, floor and outside. He was amazing but still a lot to be responsible for. We will definitely return, we enjoyed watching the game.

Great service from bartender Paul, very accommodating. Good pour. The hottest wings I ever had. (I challenge you) actual healthy options on menu. Baked haddock on white bread surprised at how good. Have now returned multiple times, service always friendly and fast.

Great place but what makes it the BEST is that it has my favorite bartender in the world!!! Ask for Janelle, she is absolutely incredible, attentive, and one of the most dynamic coolest people you'll ever meet!! Oh, and they have pool tables so that's a plus! Nachos are bomb too, makes it my favorite place, just didn't wish I live so far, but well worth the trip! 10 out of 10 highly recommended

Local sports bar with a big bar, plenty of high tops, big TVs, and a pool table. Game 1 for the B’s playoffs and this place was packed. Ton of TVs and plenty of tables and chairs to squeeze in. Beers weren’t ice cold but they were cold...ish. Gotta upgrade those fridges. Wings came out warm but not hot. Bunch of good sauces, they were tasty. Grabbed some cheese bites that were real good. Again tho, need cold beer. All in all a decent spot for some bar grub, but I got a Sam Adams from the tap that again wasn’t that cold and then switched to a bud heavy bottle that was cold...ish. Service was quick, at least the beers came out quick (probably right outta a rack)....

Had a quick stop here for a late lunch. Found parking fairly easily on the street. The staff was friendly. They had a specials menu that she asked if we wanted to wait for. Ordered the fish sandwich and the seafood chowder. For dessert we had the apple crisp with ice cream. Will definitely stop by again if we're in the area.

I knew I wanted to visit here after seeing other reviews and I’m so glad we did! The food was excellent! Huge portions and great tasting! Best fish sandwich I’ve had in a while. They have a chalk menu board of specials that include sandwiches for a decent price at around $15 a plate. The tartar sauce was great! Service was great and nice selection of on tap beer. They only take cash. An ATM is on site or there is a bank down the street. Eat here if in the area. I will if I am ever again.

I go for the seafood (fried clams or scallops). Downside, you can't get a combination clam/scallop dinner, but either choice is excellent. I order my choice with just onion rings; both the seafood and onion rings are not at all greasy. The seafood platters are delicious, best in the area!

Best seafood ever. Scallops beyond delicious. Clams amazing. Ordered shrimp but we can only go by what our son said as delicious. He ate them all. Thank you !!

The restaurant boasts a cozy and welcoming ambiance perfect for enjoying their delicious offerings. Known for its classic North Shore roast beef sandwiches and fresh seafood, Zeno's provides an array of flavors that keep patrons coming back.
The picture speaks for itself. Probably the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had. The price is really reasonable for the how large the sandwich is. I also got an Italian sub that was very good as well. Highly recommend this spot if you are craving beef.
Sean C — Google review
I've tried many North Shore beefs, but Zeno's reigns supreme! Best supers around!
Brenton B — Google review
The best "Beef" on the North Shore, IMHO. The subs are great too, as their rolls are really good. Italian Subs here are my favorite. Great service - always friendly, which ISN'T the norm here in warm and fuzzy Essex County. I love this place. Oh, as well, Greek Chicken Kabob Salad - fantastic. Highly recommend Zeno's all day, every day, and twice on Sunday.
B H — Google review
Arguably the greatest food establishment on the north shore. You walk in, the vibes right, the food is on the money, haven’t had a bad beef in the years I’ve been stopping in here ever. Everything can be solved with a little bit of Zeno’s. Working in the area and it’s close to lunch break? Zeno’s. Your boy is back from the army and wants a taste of home? Zeno’s. You won the mega millions and need to make a positive financial decision for yourself? Zeno’s. If Zeno’s was a publicly traded company I would invest my 401K entirely into it, zero diversity. Zeno’s could potentially solve world peace and definitely world hunger. I missed the plot here but I would recommend this place to anyone except for vegetarians but I’m sure this could sway them.
Trev W — Google review
I've heard of this place through social media and knew it was a must try. When you walk in, it has the aesthetic you expect from a north shore beef joint. No frills, stationary benches to sit, and a Wachusett chip display. I always go with a junior 3 way. This place did not disappoint! Flavor was crazy good. The meat to sauce to mayo to cheese to bun ratio was on point! The bun held up nicely with the amount of beef they loaded on it. As my sister says, "I want a blue collar beef." Could not have said it better! I don't want the fancy toppings, just a perfect 3 way. This place is slinging beefs, and they are worth the drive! One of the best beefs I've ever had!
Leanne M — Google review
Zeno's put out a solid 3-Way. Wasn't expecting a poppyseed roll but I didn't specify when ordering. A bit light on the stack and sauce for a super. A mix of pink and gray a little over room temp. Overall an enjoyable sandwich and would definitely eat again if in the area.
Jeffrey B — Google review
Drove here quite some distance because my research said this may be the best beef on the North Shore. It was a work of art. Thinly sliced beef was the star of the show. Three way was the way to go and it did not disappoint. Ipswich is lucky to have this place. I Will be back. One of my all time favorite sandwiches.
Heather R — Google review
The salads had a huge amount of meat on them. Mine definitely filled me up. I’m not a huge fan of iceberg lettuce and that was the base of the salad. I’m giving them five stars because they had good service and the food came out quickly!

Had an amazing dinner here on Tuesday with my wife and two kids. We were planning on doing taco night at home but we decided to sit outside at fox creek and have them make us tacos instead. 3 tacos for 13 dollars is a deal! Had a margarita with them as well, the sour mix was well balanced, not too sour. Will definitely be back soon!

I would definitely recommend the restaurant 😍 the food was so good. We started with the Bavarian pretzel with Beer cheese. They were warm, soft, and delicious! For our entrees we got the fish and chips and the baked haddock. Both were made with fish fresh from Gloucester MA. It was some of the BEST fish I have ever eaten. Our waiter was attentive and very polite. The atmosphere was family friendly and the staff even had a little kiddo who ran to give them a hug. It was upscale and so nice. They have a big bar and everything was very clean. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area again. 🦊

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now, and I was not disappointed in the least. The service and the food were exceptional. Our waitress said she was new, but she did a great job. We loved the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food. Having a salad bar is definitely a bonus in 2023. We also went on a Monday night, which was pasta night, and we couldn't have been happier about it! Can't wait to go back.

I called this place on a whim & asked if they would allow me & my dog to sit in the outdoor area. It was a quiet afternoon & they said yes! We were sat in the gazebo (cute) and our waiter Chris was so nice & attentive, and the staff was super friendly towards my boy Link. They made him a plate of unseasoned beef. We will be back! 🐶🐾

If you're looking for the friendliest bartender in town, look no further than Amanda. From the moment you walk in, her warm smile and welcoming energy instantly make you feel at home. She has an incredible talent for remembering names, drink preferences, and making every guest feel like a regular—even on their first visit. But what really sets Amanda apart is her skill behind the bar. Every cocktail she crafts is a perfect blend of creativity and precision. Whether it's a classic old fashioned or a custom creation based on your favorite flavors, Amanda’s drinks are consistently top-tier. She’s got that rare mix of charm, professionalism, and true passion for mixology that turns a night out into an experience you’ll want to repeat again and again. Amanda isn’t just a bartender—she’s the heart of the bar. Cheers to her for raising the standard in both service and spirits!

I've driven by here countless times and finally gave it a try Monday night and wow I'm happy I did. The menu is huge and everything that was going out looked great, we ended up getting the nachos and the bang bang shrimp which was the bartenders suggestion and both were delicious. The bartender Amanda was very friendly and made good bar chat and made one of the best espresso martinis I ever had, never would I expect a place like this to put out such great food, great drinks and such a friendly cozy vibe. Truly a hidden gem!

Appleton Farms, owned by the Trustees of Reservations, has a rich history dating back to 1638 when it was granted to Samuel Appleton. It is one of the oldest continuously operating farms in the state and spans over 600 acres. The farm features six miles of trails that pass through rolling pastures grazed by dairy cows. Visitors can explore the property's walking trails and enjoy activities for children, animal encounters, and nordic skiing opportunities.
Great option for XC skiing near Boston. Trails are free, parking is $6/10 weekday/weekend. You can skate but half of the trails are ungroomed so classic gives you a lot more terrain to play with.
Matthew D — Google review
I have visited Appleton Farms twice and enjoyed both visits. This is a good walk for those who enjoy a variety of trail types, whether you want to see the animals as a family or take a long trek through the pasture. Trails are general flat, well-maintained, and well-marked. However, the map is not always accurate. I found one path flooded over, causing one of my walks to become unexpectedly long. An area of picnics is available, along with public bathrooms.

Scott’s the man (great tour guide!) I was given an information rich tour of the 2 buildings across the street. My experience could not have been better and, as a newer north shore resident, I loved learning so much about the incredible historical events that took place in Ipswich. Ps. It took a 20 min scavenger hunt and an ask a friend at the Ipswitch library, but I found the devils footprint!!

If you are a fan of quaint small historical town museums….this is a gem. Bob, one of the volunteers working the entrance, is a a local treasure to speak with. If you are up in The Swich on a weekend afternoon and get rained off the beach….visit this fantastic little museum….and support the magnificent history of this town. Ipswich is far more than beaches. Do yourself a favor and explore the history. Fun fact, Ipswich was a town 150 years before America was a nation & almost 250 years before Texas was even heard of.

Presenters have strong knowledge based and share stories . You are free to walk around some, and the guide described a lot of details you would not get from the placards or Google. I recommend some time to wander and read, it's not everyday you see a four hundred plus year old home

I came to Ipswich because, like many others, I could trace my roots to the early settlers. I stumbled into this museum hoping for a glimpse of what my ancestors experienced. I got far more than that! The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and so eager to share. They explained things in a way that was easy to follow and understand and were open to answering all the questions I had. They were welcoming and kind and so helpful. They even helped me pinpoint where my ancestors lived and gave me directions to find them. I took the tour of the homes and it was a profound experience to feel that close to my past. I would highly recommend the museum and tour for anyone remotely interested in learning more about the history of Ipswich. If Bob is there, ask him about the architecture and Bill can tell you about their lifestyles. It truly is fascinating.

Historical landmark
The Hall-Haskell House, also known as the Little Red House, is a charming Federal style building dating back to 1820. Originally owned by a former mariner and his wife, it housed a general store on the lower floor. Saved from collapse in the 1980s, this historic house was restored and now serves as a visitor center and art gallery. The interior boasts beautiful wooden beams and hosts events such as photography exhibits.
Was basically an old home that was going to be torn down. Instead it was moved to this location and used as a visitor center and Art gallery. Staff was very friendly.

I came to the beach with my family in Ipswich Area 4, where I parked It was a local police officer eating a pizza in the police car, I was not aware that it was for residents only parking, the sign was too far for me to see, what I can say, the police officer wasn't nice to us, he know that it was resident-only, he was able to let us know, but instead he waited for us to leave the car, while we parked beside him and gave us ticket. I hope he enjoyed it because this is how he welcomes Ipswich guests.

I stopped by the visitor center as you do when you, you know, visit a new town. I walked in and a very old woman who was reading a book looked up and very unenthusiastically asked me "can I help you with anything," to which I explained I was stopping by before I left the town because I'd never been here. She then proceeded to stare at me like I had three heads, saying nothing, until I left the building out of awkwardness. Way to welcome me to Ipswich, lady.

Olde Ipswich Shop & Gallery is a charming store owned by Joanne, a talented artist who creates beautiful paintings and hand-painted cards. The shop features high-quality American-made folk art, including original pieces and prints. Visitors can find unique gifts such as handmade soaps, beanies, and scarves. Joanne's work is inspired by traditional American milk paint, resulting in stunning creations that are definitely worth a visit.
I went to this place on a Friday evening. The store owner, Joanne was super kind and came to the store and opened it for me even though she had to walk her dog. She had beautiful paintings she made all around and pretty cards she painted on as well. Her items were of excellent quality and I got a nice beanie and scarf and handmade soaps from there. Overall, she's wonderful and I'm happy she's one of 9 women owned businesses in the area. I'd recommend this to be a must visit.

Wolf Hollow, also known as the North American Wolf Foundation, is a non-profit sanctuary and educational center dedicated to preserving wolves in the wild through education and exposure. Visitors can meet resident grey wolves, observe their pack dynamics, and learn about their biology and role as a keystone species. The sanctuary offers educational presentations aimed at raising awareness about the endangered state of grey wolves and how to protect them.
The presentation was very informative and interactive with the presenter having the crowd ask questions which made the whole showing a lot of fun. It is definitely kid and family friendly! The wolves themselves are beautiful!

I'm in complete awe!! Amazing to see all these beautiful wolves and the people who volunteer & speak here. I walked away knowing that there are still really wonderful people in this world helping to make it a better place. My mind is blown at the hour and a half education I received here from obviously pationate people. I will proudly take my granddaughter here not only to see these amazing animals but to learn and hopefully one day help to educate the next generation on the respect that these amazing animals deserve. I walked away from here with a softer heart and a better, more intense understanding of these family of wolves and their proud human counterparts that unselfishly care for and educate others on their wonderful existence and the unfair persecution of these majestic animals. Thank you so very much!!

I ordered the super meat combo omelet and it was a large omelet with plenty of meat. Sophia is delightful and cheerful. She makes the place shine with her energy and quick wit! Everyone in my group was very satisfied. Thanks, Sophia and crew, for the great experience!

Sophia and her husband have been serving our community for many years with a diverse menu and great options. I especially love her homemade Greek Avgolemono soup! Support local small business!

Go anywhere else. Ridiculosly overpriced and horrible atmosphere unless you like feeling like an unwanted guest in someone's house.

I'm always happy when I stop by. The food reminds me of homemade (fresh and tasty) and the service is exceptional.
Chris S — Google review
Just moved to the area and tried it out based on google reviews. The place is very clean but to quiet I thought I was in a funeral home it was kind of weird if you like hearing yourself think then it’s a great place for you. The quality of the food was really good the only problem we had was the service was a little bad, the waitress took our order dropped off the food and that was it never came around to ask how was everything or if we needed anything such as more to drink. I pretty much ate half my breakfast with no drink and yes we had to flag her down to get a drink after half my breakfast was gone . The other waitress that we didn’t have was flying around to all of her tables so I think we just got the younger one who was less attentive to our needs. The main problem was the time it took to get our food it’s a small place there weren’t that many people inside eating so it wasn’t packed . It took 30 minutes to get our food so unfortunately based on the inattentive service and the time it takes to get your food I won’t be back. But once again the food was really good so if you’re not in a rush to eat , enjoy a really quiet atmosphere and decent service then I would recommend . I personally wouldn’t but to each there own. Also they only accept cash ? just fyi

Pizza restaurant
Tucked away in Ipswich, MA, Riverview Restaurant is a charming pizzeria and bar that exudes a delightful retro vibe reminiscent of the 1970s. This cash-only establishment has become a beloved local haunt, known for its cozy booths and warm atmosphere. Guests rave about the delicious thin-crust pizzas topped with fresh ingredients like pepperoni and chicken, making it an ideal spot for pizza lovers. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming ambiance, ensuring every visit feels special.
Cute and nostalgic pizza restaurant, mostly for locals but it is a hidden gem for tourists. Our local friend brought us here to try these timeless pizzas. Although it looks like nothing special from the outside, once you step in, you quickly realize how busy it is. The inside feels a bit like a maze, so it might be tricky to find your way around. We chose our table ourselves since no one guided us at that point. Probably due to the crowd, the service wasn’t very fast, but once the pizzas arrived, it more than made up for the wait. You choose your pizza ingredients step by step, allowing you to create almost any combination you want. The pizzas aren’t in the traditional Italian style, but they’re generously topped with ingredients. Be careful not to burn your mouth, as the pizzas arrive very hot. Typically, one pizza is enough for one person, so if you’re not too hungry, you might want to consider sharing. We mostly ordered cheese pizzas with two additional ingredients (mushroom, pepperoni, and meatballs), and everything was spot on. Each topping did its job perfectly, adding great flavor to the pizza. I’ll definitely be back if I visit this town again!
Emre Ö — Google review
Haven’t been here in over 20 years, but the pizza is still the best.
Timothy C — Google review
We found this little slice of pizza heaven and if you're in the area, you've got to try it. If you're not in the area - take a road trip! The dough is light and crispy. The sauce is excellent, and the cheese - plentiful! Pizzas are about 12", a couple can get 2 and have leftovers. Prices are super-reasonable and the value is 100% there!
Gennaro C — Google review
I love Riverview, a place where laughter and delectable pizza meet each other. The thin crust pizza always dazzles my mind, and it never gets old. The booths are especially comfortable! When you step foot into Riverview, it feels like you transform into a world where 1970 was the current year. Thank you Riverview!!
Emily — Google review
Great atmosphere! People come and go while we were dining. The pizza boxes were piled up along the wall, which was impressive and creative. It took 15 min for a pizza to be ready. Tomato sauce was a bit salty than I expected. But I like the crispy and thin crust!
Xiaoya L — Google review
This was the worst experience I've had a long time. After having to clean our own table. The waitress never acknowledged my table. She stopped and grabbed herself water and a drink for another table. I'm good with being busy but at least let us know you see us.
Wayne J — Google review
Best pizza on the north shore by far, no fuss all pizza, red booths one wood panel walls make you feel like you’re eating in a set, bill for 3 of us is always $40

I had the pleasure of enjoying Pizza from Riverview at a special event and can tell you first hand it’s delicious thin crust the dough is not heavy, it was well cooked, excellent sauce give it a try ! I think it’s one of the best if not the best in the area!

Beer garden
True North Ale Company in Ipswich, Massachusetts is a popular destination for beer enthusiasts. The brewery offers a vibrant taproom and patio where visitors can enjoy a variety of craft beers, including award-winning brews like Northern Haze juicy IPA, Vincianne Belgian blonde ale, and Cerveza Mexican lager. Guests can also explore seasonal experiments and take home growlers or cans. The venue is also available for events such as weddings, with an attentive events coordinator ensuring seamless experiences.
Huge place, great beers, and friendly staff! We had our dog with us so we sat on the patio and an employee brought out a dog water bowl without being asked which was thoughtful! They had a BBQ food truck there but we didn’t get anything. We liked all 4 of the beers we had in our flight- Cranberry Sour, Blonde, Northern Haze, & Tropical juicy IPA. Great spot to go to after the Donovan Reservation hike. Will return!
Brian R — Google review
A fun spot for beer & BBQ in Ipswich. Today I had the "Sunshine & Kittens" and the "Land & Sea" from the taproom... and a Brisket Bomb with fries from the Big Pig BBQ food truck. The BBQ was amazing as usual... Sunshine & Kittens might just be my favorite IPA they've made yet through 8 years in business. It can hang with the IPAs that I have sampled from the San Diego craft beer scene! 🍻

Huge space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good beer. Easy to order drinks and food via QR code or from the bar. Seemed very kid-friendly also.
Clayton S — Google review
We had a great experience with a large event held in their event room. The staff (Mike in particular) was so helpful as we set up and throughout the event. I can't recommend them highly enough. Thanks True North Ale for what was the perfect location and the perfect venue for our event.

Microbrewery with some of the best craft beer I've tasted in one location. Had a sampler with five samples. .all were excellent. Especially a raspberry ale...yum!
Mark B — Google review
Large selection of excellent beer. The linebrook lager, gran paradiso Italian pilsner, cerveza Mexican lager, and willowdale apa were all delicious. I'd come back for sure to drink the same or try new offerings. They are dog friendly on their patio which is uncovered so bring sun screen.
Jake S — Google review
Great brews ! Nice spot, and great playlist! There is a fridge to the left of the bar for take home cans.. Parking was almost full on a sunny Saturday afternoon but they have overflow parking, next right heading north I believe. Signs for this are posted, just follow them if need be.
Brian C — Google review
I'd give them 10 stars if there was such a thing. Out of all the breweries I've been to true north is the only one to really figure it out during this pandemic!!!!! Staff keeps u super well taken care of nd they are super covid contious. Everything ultra clean all the time!!! They are very attentive to their customers. Thanks for a great afternoon!!! Beers were fantastic. Thanks for having the rusty can there also. Great food!!!

Day 5

Off the beaten path
For day 5, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Puma Park. Not quite as popular as Crane Beach, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 6 hours.

Puma Park

Playground
Puma Park is a hidden gem located behind Truro library on the Outer Cape. It's a well-kept playground with nautical-themed structures that cater to toddlers and older kids, providing a change of scenery from the beach. The park features shaded areas, benches, and even a workout area for parents. Visitors praise its impeccable craftsmanship and recommend it as an ideal spot for kids to burn off energy before or after a day at the beach.
Great big playground for all ages. There's a toddler section, the playground for kids, and an outdoor exercise area for adults. There are also benches and picnic tables, some with shade. Plenty of parking. Bathrooms are in the community center, or there's a porta potty.
Isadora M — Google review
It’s an old school wooden playground. The structure features a lighthouse, which has a legit ladder for the kids, and a toddler could easily fall down. But all the structures are in excellent shape, and the whole park looks fantastic. But it gets pummeled by the sun and there is no breeze, so it’s very hot. My 2.5 year old only lasted a few minutes. During mid day it’s a ghost town. It’s a shame, because there are not enough activities for toddlers in the area. I think the location also hurts the foot traffic.
Will V — Google review
This playground is the best kept secret on the Outer Cape! Located behind Truro library. My toddlers and kids love it for a change of scenery, or when it's too cool for swimming. 100% toddler friendly, even 1 yr old friendly - as long as they can walk. Plenty of benches well spaced around the outside, plus some under shadey areas.
Teresa J — Google review
We were quite a ways away from our rental with 3 kids in tow, we needed a quick stop where we could stretch our legs and have some lunch. This was it! Perfect for a picnic and to let the kids run. What an amazing playground. Some great shaded areas but bring some sunscreen!! The equipment got really warm in the direct sunlight.
Tabatha B — Google review
We are visiting.. What a beautiful place for children. Have a built in workout spot for adults.. Best playground I’ve ever seen. Senior center is located here as well.. You very lucky to have this place on your community..
Deborah T — Google review
Well kept place for pirate, dragon, lighthouse, and tree castle adventures! Little tot lot for the smaller kids and some of the equipment is wheelchair accessible. I would have loved this place as a kid and look forward to bringing my nieces and nephews.
Emily F — Google review
a gem for kids on vacation that need to drain energy before or after the beach! Simply one of the most beautiful and well-kept playgrounds ive ever seen, nautically themed (of course ) but with impecable taste and craftmanship, well worth the trip. I will plan my next trip the cape around this playground for my toddler.

The golf course at Ould Newbury Golf Club had a splendid day with well-maintained greens and fairways. It was suggested that additional signage would be beneficial for newcomers, particularly for guiding them to the next hole. Furthermore, having markers on blind shots could prevent players from aiming at the wrong target, as happened on the 2nd hole. Lunch on the deck included delicious options like burgers, subs, salad, and cocktails.
Fairways and greens are in great shape, friendly staff and great food at the restaurant. Challenging elevated greens and Tee boxes, fantastic views of the salt marshes .
Michael K — Google review
Great day at Ould Newbury! Greens and fairways in great shape. Suggestion to help those new to the course would be to have more signage to the next hole. Plus a marker on the few fairways that are blind shots. Example: 2nd hole we were actually aiming for the wrong green. When we came around to the green we were mistakenly driving to, the group on 2 did the same thing. We had lunch on the deck; burgers, subs, salad and cocktails...all good! *View of the 9th green from the deck. "Watch out for errant balls."
Cj L — Google review
I called and made a Tee time for 8:40 am When I spoke to the Pro shop at no time did they tell me that only 8 holes were open and we could not play 18 parking was a nightmare no direct access to the pro-shop the road was under construction they did reduce the green fee $36 dollars for 8 holes including the cart not much of a deal . I won’t be frequenting Olde Newburyport again on the plus side they have a beautiful dog named Jax

Had me at hello. When driving diwn old rt1ski you would expect to find a few things...... Well kept ✔ Kinda friendly sure 1/2 ✔. This was me first day here and boy did they get me good. Presentation is fine, club also. As for forthright, not so much. Good business and good 9 holes are not always equal.

Scenic and challenging 9-hole course. Due to its proximity near a marsh, can get a bit buggy. Friendly staff, easy to find, charming club house.

Greenwood Farm in Ipswich offers easy trails and a 17th-century farmhouse, providing a historical and picturesque experience. The marshside walk provides beautiful views of the salt marshes, but be prepared for muddy conditions after wet weather. Visitors can admire the iconic salt box farmhouse and navigate antique stream crossings while enjoying the dog-friendly environment. However, it's important to be cautious of ticks during certain seasons.
Pretty place for a stroll but be sure to prep for a muddy walk when it’s been wet for a few days. Beautiful views of the salt marshes.
Anne D — Google review
Nice Trustees reservation. There is a loop style path that goes around the perimeter of the farm. There are lots of wild flowers and the farm is adjacent to the marsh created by the Ipswich River.
Cornell R — Google review
The 216-acre property contains a short, g-shaped walking trail and a pair of historic houses. Greenwood Farm is open from dawn to dusk every day of the year. An unpaved lot provides plenty of parking. The lower portion of the trail can be slightly soggy after a long rain, so wear boots if you dislike damp socks.

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Ipswich, Massachusetts, The Ipswich Inn is a delightful bed and breakfast that beautifully marries historic elegance with modern comforts. Housed in a stately 1863 residence, this inviting inn offers cozy accommodations perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. Guests rave about the thoughtfully decorated rooms, including the Morley Suite, which boasts comfort and style.
Our stay at the Ipswich Inn was lovely. The self check in was incredibly easy, but "front desk" was easily reachable by call/text. We stayed in the Morley Suite which was beautifully decorated, the bed comfy, the bathroom a little small but that is to be expected. They had a clothes steamer as well instead do the typical iron which was appreciated. The rest of the Inn is also stunning! The main room was so beautiful and cozy, and has board games as well! I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it. We will definitely be back!
Michelle R — Google review
We loved our stay at Ipswich Inn! We had lunch at Ipswich Brewery right down the road before checking in a little early after submitting a request. The room was awesome with our own bathroom, kitchen sink, beverage cooler, and coffee maker. All essentials were provided such as coffee, dish soap, and sponge. Bed and pillows were comfortable and window ac unit cooled room efficiently. Location was perfect for a close by wedding venue. Would recommend and would stay again to explore area more!
Jenna B — Google review
We really enjoyed our stay at the Ipswich Inn! It’s such a quaint and charming place. Our suite was spotless, spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious and a perfect way to start the day. Highly recommend!
Shelley R — Google review
This is pretty much completely self service - there is no staff or concierge to check in. You check in over the phone, get a text with your room door code. When you arrive the front doors are open and you can just walk up to your room. I'm not sure if someone comes and locks the front and back doors after a certain time - but they were always open and we can lock our room doors. We stayed in the Morley room and it was huge! I didn't expect it to be that big based on the pictures. Obviously I couldn't see the other rooms, but I'd recommend the owners get more pictures for scale. There is a little brunch restaurant, but there wasn't a lot of information about it and maybe it was me being unobserved but I didn't know there was one until we showed up. For walkability, coming from Boston, I thought it would be easy to get around the little town but I would suggest renting a car - there's a massive hill to walk up and down from the train station and there isn't really a grocery store near by. There's a coffee shop and some restaurants and a convenience store that sells water and beer and stuff. Overall our stay was really nice, but I would've planned a little different if I were to stay again - no fault of the inn or town at all though!
Rachael G — Google review
Highly recommended. My wife and I were in the area doing some genealogy research and picked this inn as an overnight. The room and bed were very comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. We had a great breakfast, and the staff was very pleasant. We recommend that you explore the local streets. The homes in this area are spectacular, with some houses dating back to the 1600s.
Kevin C — Google review
Absolutely wonderful weekend at the Inn! We are ready to book our next get away there! Everything was amazing. Rooms were beautiful and spotless! Can’t say enough about how great our stay was. I give it 10 stars!! ⭐️

What an absolutely lovely experience that I could enjoy with my family this past Mother's Day weekend. After an initial hitch in reservations, our hosts were quick in giving us options. We had the Veranda room, which is on the main floor and was perfect for my older family member to get around. The cafe was also right down the hall from us, so it was lovely to just walk over for breakfast the next morning. We slept so well (the sofa bed was also very comfortable) and everything was so gorgeously decorated. The details were *chef's kiss* I would definitely come back here.

This Ipswich Inn was SO cute! The self check- in was super easy and the location was perfect. I stayed in the Wilcomb room on the third floor that had plenty of space and a king size bed.. very comfortable. I loved my experience and would recommend it to anyone staying in the area! I would love to stay there again!
