Gloucester in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Gloucester, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Gloucester is one of America’s oldest seaports, known for its working fishing harbor, maritime heritage, and classic New England coastal scenery. Visitors can explore historic sites and maritime museums, stroll the harborfront, and see landmarks like the Fishermen’s Memorial. Nearby beaches such as Good Harbor and Wingaersheek offer sandy shores and views of lighthouses and rocky headlands. Seasonal whale-watching cruises and fresh local seafood add to its appeal as a coastal getaway.
With favorites like Halibut Point State Park, Sugar Magnolias, and Hammond Castle Museum, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Markouk Bread and Delaney's Pizza so you can get the best taste of Gloucester while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Good Harbor Beach is a small yet stunning beach known for its prime swimming conditions and picturesque surroundings. The white sand, clear waters, and scenic views make it an ideal spot for a relaxing day by the shore. During low tide, visitors can explore Salt Island or the nearby Annisquam River to discover diverse marine life. The beach provides amenities such as restrooms, showers, and a concession stand offering snacks and beach toys.
One of my favorite beaches in MA. At noontime, tide is low, and you can walk out to the island and explore!!! No dogs allowed on the beach in the summer starting April 1 or $300 fine. Also, you need parking passes to come if you are not a resident.
Kristy J — Google review
Great beach! We love coming here for the soft sand and fun waves. During low tide there are tide pools and a river the kids can explore, plus an island you can reach via a sandbar. During high tide there’s still plenty of beach. The parking is great - plentiful and stretches across the whole beach, making it easier to spread out and you never have to walk far.

☀️🌊🏖️🦀🐚 Good Harbor Beach is a great beach with plenty of space for lots of people! We had a great time at Good Harbor Beach and caught lots of ☀️! At low tide you can walk across to the island and maybe find some 🦀 The food stand can be slow to order and receive your food so plan accordingly. My lobster roll and fries took 30 minutes to be ready but that was pretty common for everyone there. Overall we had a great time at Good Harbor and will make this one of our top beaches in the area!
Logan — Google review
We visited Good Harbor Beach in July and really loved it! We booked our parking spot a few days in advance, so when we arrived, we just had to show our reservation — super easy and convenient. We went early in the morning, which allowed us to park close to the beach entrance. People start arriving around noon, so depending on what time you like to enjoy the beach, parking and getting a good spot can be easier or a bit more challenging later in the day. The beach itself is very beautiful, with calm waters that are perfect for families with kids. We had such a relaxing and fun day, and we’ll definitely be coming back next summer!
Nathy K — Google review
Although the parking is limited and prices are salty, after 3-3:30pm the parking is free and there's always spaces to park. Short distance between parking lot and the beach, well maintained bathrooms but not so well maintained showers. Clearly a popular beach, by the crowd today. The water was ice cold in early August on a 80F Sunday. The tide rises suddenly in the afternoon, it's a beautiful scene to admire while sunbathing. Very pleasant beachn!
Livia L — Google review
Good parking, well stocked bathrooms, convenient snack stand, helpful walkway mat in the sand leading from the snack stand to the start of the beach, making getting to the beach earlier for anyone with mobility challenges. The views are beautiful, and the beach is clean. My only complaint was people smoking cigarettes which ruined the enjoyment of the fresh air. Also, Keep an eye on your French fries and snacks for some assertive sea gulls.
Nora K — Google review
First time coming here and it was enjoyable. We got there for 8am so there was plenty of parking, I do think $45 with tax $47 this year for parking for non residents is terrible! I did enjoy the fact that there are little waves here so its not a quiet beach. Walking the beach at low tide in the morning was nice, you can go to the puddles around the rocks to see what's in there and also cross the water to the island and climb it which we did not do. There's bathrooms with changing rooms, a food area, and an area that sells beach accessories. The beach at low tide looks very large but when it starts to come i it does get quite narrow. The seagulls are very vicious come lunch time, I saw a few attack people while eating their food.
ELOCIN R — Google review
Good Harbor Beach is a stunning stretch of beautiful white sand facing the Atlantic Ocean, making it one of Gloucester’s most beloved coastal gems. The beach offers perfect conditions for boogie boarding and surfing, while at low tide, visitors can walk out to Salt Island, and at high tide, enjoy body surfing. The beach is well-equipped with concession stands, restrooms, and showers, plus lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The wide sandy expanse is perfect for long, leisurely strolls by the ocean’s edge, and the views include Salt Island, Thacher Island, and Saratoga Creek.

Cape Ann Whale Watch offers tours to Stellwagen Bank led by knowledgeable guides, providing the opportunity to observe humpback whales and other marine life. The company operates from April through winter, allowing visitors to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. In addition to whale watching, guests can also enjoy a variety of attractions in the area. One such attraction is the Hammond Castle Museum, an unexpected European-style castle on Cape Ann built by John Hays Hammond, Jr.
Enjoyed my tour. We got to see 8-9 humpbacks, a small great white, a finback whale. One whale breached and one got very close. Every trip is different. It’s takes a hour just to get out of the bay. Pretty large boat so I didn’t get motion sickness. They have younger crew that are educators that go around and interact with the guests for educational tidbits and questions. The naturalist who guided us was really good, easy to understand with lots of knowledge. She did not rush the tour and really wanted us to see everything we could possibly see, our tour was 4.5 hrs. Boarding started 30 min before and we left a few minutes early. They sell some stickers, pins, magnets, etc. at the end so bring cash if interested. Restrooms onboard and lots of seating, although you will be moving around to spot the wildlife. 9/18/25

My daughters and I had our 3rd exceptional adventure Oct 18, 2025 with Cape Ann Whale Watch on Saturday. Not only did we see many whales, one of which Tina (?) had not seen since 2023, but we had the 5% experience of seeing a large pod of white striped or white sided dolphins who were playing, jumping around the boat and giving us a magnificent show. The whales kept drawing us with the trumpeting sound that we never heard before. It was remarkable! The knowledge of the guide seems unsurpassed and the smoothness of the ride, despite the significant waves, spoke highly of our Captain. The crew also graciously made sure everyone was okay throughout the trip. We’ll book again next year. And the year after. Absolutely the best whale watch you could hope for!!!!
J R — Google review
Went on the whale watch on Sep 14 (1:45 PM). Parking was free and well-organized — staff guided us right to a spot, which was a big relief. The boat left exactly on time, and the guide was amazing, sharing details and facts throughout the trip. After a 30–45-minute ride, we spotted a humpback whale and even two whales swimming together! The whole trip lasted about 3–4 hours and was an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend Cape Ann Whale Watch! 🌊🐋

Wonderful experience! We got to see Humpbacks breaching! The naturalist was very knowledgeable and explained everything we were seeing. She knew the names of the whales. We saw a total of 4 Humpbacks. The weather was perfect and the boat was comfortable! Highly recommend!
Karen H — Google review
We saw a total of 4 whales and a pod of dolphins on this trip! The staff was amazing! The boat was super clean and accommodated a lot of people very easily. Very very knowledgeable staff and very focused on conservation and education. They have a full galley that is cash only and the guy who runs it is so dang sweet!! I will definitely come back!!!
Amber M — Google review
Went on 10/07/25. We had 10 humpback whale sightings and some dolphins in a pod. Absolutely incredible experience. We were on the boat around 5 hours. It was about 2 hours before we spotted any whales. Great staff. Everything was well explained and they took turns so both the right and the left side of the boat could see the sightings. The views into and out of the bay were breathtaking.

It was on the 1st Sep Labour Day and we got the ticket through group on coupn and they the slot on Monday instead of Sunday where we wanted to visit ..it was good experience.. but the journey would be not so exciting unless you enjoy the ride on the sea . The whale watch company had been very nice and gone many extra miles to try and show us the whales which fructified where we Saw 3 instead of 1. It was nice experience .. please make sure to have some food proper if possible as it might get late .. they have some small and good cafeteria.. for those who is sea sick or motion sickness Might feel Little difficult as the boat is small And have vibrations .. we saw some who brought poncho to protect from the water splashes in between .: you can see the sun and nice views
Venkata T — Google review
Great experience. They did reschedule/cancel my trip twice due to possible incomming weather and I had to call both times to reschedule, but they were able to get me in last minute on what they said was likely their last trip of the season. I did not want to miss out on this as it was to be a highlight of my trip. They guarantee you'll see whales or you get to keep coming until you do which is weird because I bet a lot of their customers are traveling, but didn't have to worry about that because we saw whales. I did get nauseous at the end but it was still worth it. The announcer who talked about the whales was very knowledgeable.

Located in Gloucester, Seaport Grille is a charming waterfront eatery offering a diverse menu featuring surf 'n' turf, pizzas, burgers, and signature drinks. The restaurant boasts a picturesque location by the harbor with stunning waterfront views. Its cozy blue interior and ample indoor seating create a relaxed beachy ambiance. The restaurant takes pride in using the freshest ingredients to prepare classic seafood dishes served in generous portions.
we stopped there while on vacation. Good place to eat. View from inside was good of the harbor. Didn't get to sit on the patio, since it was lunch time. EXCELLENT service, waitress took time to tell us about the items on the menu. wife had Lazy Mans Lobster Bake, I had Seared Scallops on a bed of Lobster Risotto. Appetizer of Calamari.

Seaport Grille is a famous seafood restaurant right on the coast of downtown Gloucester, overlooking the ocean and docks. The staff were friendly, though it did take a bit to order food, the food came out quite quick beyond that. There was plenty of seating even at prime lunch hours, so we were able to be seated quite quickly. We got an assortment of foods, including their lobster roll. The lobster roll is priced at market value, which was around $30 when we got it. The lobster roll was a good size, with a good amount of lobster to eat. Personal preference is that we like ours hot, but this was served cold, but still pretty enjoyable. It just felt the bread overwhelmed the lobster at times, but was still delicious to eat. The clam chowder was good, consistency was on the watery side rather than thick but had a great flavor. The caesar salad plate was large, and tasted great and fresh. We also got a side of fries, which were like puffed up potato wedges, though we got too much and had to take it home. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and well deserves its hype.
Nick S — Google review
A 4 star restaurant with partial views of the harbor (if you look beyond the parking lot), outdoor/shaded seating available , good service and decent food. We ordered fried scallops, haddock tacos with flour tortillas and the bacon cheeseburger. The total bill without tip was $76 or about $25 per person. The scallops were delicious whereas the broccoli was saturated in butter. The Haddock tacos were great, and the cheeseburger was decent. The fries are more like slim wedged potatoes and were okay.
Steve S — Google review
My husband and I went here for lunch because it came highly recommended on social media and it was decent! The oysters Rockefeller were my favorite part. We housed our food because we were pretty hungry after a long day of walking but the entrees were definitely a bit Boston market esque. Still tasty, comfort food but nothing extraordinary. We ordered the seafood trio and haddock dishes which came topped with a yummy breadcrumb mixture. They also are super generous with their wine pours :) The water views are nice if you get a window seat but we still enjoyed our booth. The staff is all very pleasant and our waitress was so kind and appropriately attentive. I would be curious to try a different spot next time but still very much enjoyed eating here and would recommend grabbing a reservation.
Jen B — Google review
A tiny wait but that made me excited to give it a try. Packed in a Thursday!!!! Did not disappoint. The clam chowder was excellent as was the fried fish plate. Took my dessert to go but it looks delicious. Will visit again in my return trip to Gloucester.

I really wanted to like this place. I think I might be being a little generous with my stars…Great location, friendly staff. If you love giant portions this might be the place for you. Could not finish our dishes. I wish we’d have known we could have planed our order a little differently. I love ordering Calamari when I’m traveling. This was pretty good. The wedge salad was good, it could have need dressed with a third of the dressing. The tuna salad was enormous and I think they may have served me a whole cucumber.
Nicholas A — Google review
Great location on the water. Was told it would be 20 minutes for a table. It took an hour. The lobster pie was good. The swordfish was not so good. The picatta sauce was blend and thin. The other entries were just average. Was hoping for something more.

Good food and service. We went for dinner and had the filet mignon and macaroni with pulled pork. Portions are big. For dessert we had the coconut cake which was delicious. Server was really nice. Plenty of parking.

Markouk Bread is a Lebanese restaurant known for its flavorful and authentic dishes. The menu features staples like spiced, stuffed flatbreads, kabobs, falafel, rice, and salad. The storefront offers mostly takeout options but the food is exceptional. Customers praise the fresh and delicious meals such as chicken wraps, falafel, zaatar manoushies with vegetables, and tabouli.
Excellent lunch! Our first time here! Lovely ladies serving us. We had a chicken wrap and falafel! Absolutely delicious! The food was fresh and very tasty. They made the chicken right in the spot and creates the wrap with that ever we wanted. The sauce was exceptionally tasty! Looking forward to going again on our next visit.

We were looking for a quick bite before our whale watch & I’m so glad we found this place. Delicious flavorful food and the wraps were huge! Say yes to the feta add on. Everything was handmade with care. Delightfully friendly owners. Wish we lived closer!

This is a great little authentic Lebanese restaurant with homemade dishes. The owner is a skilled cook and baker. We had 2 zaatar manoushies with vegetables and a side of tabouli. Everything was delicious and highly recommended.

We bought our dinner twice there within five days, because the food was so delicious, that we had to come back. Chicken dinner, chicken wrap and beef wrap are all extremely tasty and excellent value for money. The people serving and cooking here work all hard to make a fantastic job, but still are so relaxed, friendly and generally in a good mood, so it is enjoyable to even sit in a while and watch your food getting prepared. They even recognised us on our second visit and did an excellent service job. Highly recommended, this definitely was the best food we had within a week staying in Gloucester.

I got a chicken kabob wrap and Mediterranean salad. Both where very delicious and well seasoned- citrusy and herbaceous. Enjoyed the meat being a bit charred. Many ready made cold sides and salads in the fridge that you can pick up quickly. Workers were kind enough to make my food quickly so I could make it to my whale watching tour promptly. Many thanks.

Very tasty Lebanese dishes and friendly owners. A lot of people started coming in as we ordered so it's a really popular place. A nice change of pace if you need a break from clams and lobster in Gloucester.
Jasmine G — Google review
Where do I even begin? These are the best dolmas I've had in Massachusetts. I bought just a side thinking the star of the show was my falafel wrap. Don't get me wrong the falafel wrap was good but if I could venture back this way I'd stock up on the domas. The mousakaa - amazing. It's more of a takeout counter but if you're lucky and in small company you can dine in. They work very hard behind the counter so I entertained myself with the magazine they had on the table. I love this spot it's a seaside dream. If you had a cozy cafe I'm sure it would get flocked over by the tourists but I'm sure your team is plenty busy as is. I will be back 💕

Pizza restaurant
Delaney's Pizza is a popular spot on the North Shore, known for its delicious and satisfying pies. The pizzeria opens at 4:00 pm, and it's recommended to place an order about 30 minutes in advance due to its popularity. They offer only one size of pizza, which yields about 8 slices. Customers rave about the fresh ingredients used in their pizzas and appreciate the small team that ensures quality.
There is no debate about who has the best pizza in Gloucester, it’s been Delaney’s forever. Every single pizza they have is superior. The thin crust, the sauce, everything about it is perfect for a pizza. The chicken bacon ranch pizza though is on another level, highly recommend trying this one. My go-to pizza in town and always has been 🍕
Michael M — Google review
Ordered a large cheese pizza. Me and my wife love pizza and have eaten from restaurants all over the north east. When I got it, it cost more than the menu price they had on the counter and it felt really light. They gave me the inflation excuse. Recieved what we would consider a medium thin crust pizza. It was decent but would not get again. Especially not for $14.50
Andrew — Google review
One of the best pizza I have eaten in a long time. They only open from 4:00pm and you have to order about 30mn in advance, they only have one size which make about 8 slices. We ordered 3 pies for 5 people, a vegetarian, pepperoni and cheese and the Delaney's Special which pretty much all-dressed and probably 10 000 calories 😉😀 but so tasty and awesome. Sorry for the pics, we couldn't wait to get started.

Delicious pizza and great topping options: even eggplant!
Kathy L — Google review
The smell outside the pizza shop is what drew me in, it smells so enticing, and the pizza does a lot of things right. I think the sauce is interesting, not to sweet not too much basil or pepper and not bland. The cheese is great and it's not too greasy. The problem I have is with their crust. It's thin crust which I'm fine with but it didn't have much to write home about. There wasn't much crunch to it and it was just very dull. It definitely would not be my first choice, but if someone offered I wouldn't be a grump about it.

Only gave them 1 star would've given 0 but you can't. Its not good at all and its a pathetic excuse for "pizza". The garlic bread wasn't even garlic bread it was just a pizza covered in cheese. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Come to NY we know how to make pizza.

Restaurant
Duckworth's Gloucester is a locally sourced New-American bistro that offers innovative, full meals with tasting-sized portions of food and wine. The restaurant has recently undergone a transformation and now offers quality takeout meals. The menu features dishes like steak with chimichurri sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, smoked pork belly tacos with roasted green tomato sauce, pickled onion, and salsa sides. The upscale yet unpretentious restaurant provides impeccable service and a lovely wine list.
Awesome place for a quality takeout meal experience! I knew Duckworth's as a bistro and while that is SADLY missed, its newest incarnation is not to be missed. A great addition to (East) Gloucester! We had two entrée dishes: 1. steak with chimichurri sauce and roasted sweet potatoes as well as 2. smoked pork belly tacos with some amazing roasted green tomato sauce, pickled onion and salsa sides. Pricing is fair since what you are getting is innovative, full meals. And the portions are right. Next time we will pick up some baked goods, desserts, and/or fresh bread (from Iggy's of Boston). The store itself is adorable, with fun sundries to buy: kitchen towels, straw hats, glassware, etc. They have a few tables to sit at if you prefer to eat there but we were just looking for an easy evening meal. Also, we ran into some of the original DW bistro staff, notably Michelle who was at the register. Congrats on the new endeavor, DW team, and those looking for a good meal, stop in!

I have only been there a few times but it is one of my favorite places in Gloucester! The sandwiches and pastries are great, a big variety of unique foods that are worth the money. Also very nice inside, seems like a great place to relax and enjoy some amazing food.

This is where we go to celebrate. The best restaurant I've been to on the North Shore. The food is delicious (we've been here 5 or 6 times and it's consistently excellent), and this is the place to pair it with a bottle of wine. Our waiter has been knowledgeable and kind. The setting is intimate, so get a reservation well ahead of time.

Always the finest time here. Service is impeccable. The menu is not gigantic, but every single thing on it is something I want to eat! Lovely wine list. Home made super decadent desserts (I’m lookin at you chocolate bourbon pecan pie!) finished off our amazing meal. Been going for more than a decade and never have had a bad bite. Bravo!

Went here for dinner with my aunt and cousin. Our server Colleen was awesome! Super friendly and put us at ease. The food was amazing. We ordered all the salads. The frize was the favorite. We split three half portions of entrees. Hanger stake was killer, duck was delicious, and the salmon was to die for. Recommend all three l. Finished the meal with a Banana cake. WOW. Also love the half/full portion option.

Excellent. They were so accommodating of my wife's gluten intolerance. Many gluten free options, and each better than the next. Service was perfect, they spent so much longer than they needed to talking through the changing menu items. I grew up 10 minutes away and couldn't believe I'd never been.

Service was excellent; our waiter was patient and explained everything. Leave a large budget, though! Even without desserts (and with half a glass of wine each) it came to $90. I had excellent salmon with carrot sauce, roasted carrots, and risotto. Most importantly, you can get EVERYTHING in a half portion (even the wine!) There are only 10 tables so make a reservation! Also had wonderful soups (we tried the creamy mushroom and also a cold cucumber soup.) I highly recommend Duckworth's.

I was taken there to celebrate my Birthday. What an experience! Everything was fantastic. Between the 3 of us, we had the Salmon, Mushroom soup, the cesar Salad, Fish Stew (i think) and we had to try more than one dessert! Banana Cake was to die for; Bread pudding was so good I did not want to share.. I can't say enough about the food and the service. I can't wait to go again.

Surfside Subs is a well-known spot among Cape Ann residents, but it remains a hidden gem for tourists exploring Rockport and Gloucester. Situated near Long Beach, Surfside Subs offers excellent takeout options. Their pizza stands out as some of the finest on Cape Ann, featuring a wonderfully thin and perfectly cooked crust. Customers can enjoy their meal outdoors at picnic tables or in Adirondack chairs in the parking area since there is no indoor seating available.
This is a great place to get food. Their pizza and subs are delicious, and their lobster rolls are the best I've ever had. Great staff, and food come out quick, too. Highly recommend Surfside Subs!

I can only speak to the Thursday lobster roll special which is totally worth it! $13.99 for large buttered roll with a generous amount of fresh lobster claw meat, served with chips and pickles. Can’t go wrong. Not the best ambience as you’re on the corner of a busy intersection, and it’s counter service only and very no nonsense.

Casual take out location offering your typical Italian Cuisine. Limited parking. Staff not overly friendly. Price of Lobster Roll on road-side sign advertised $19.99 but the menu board inside stated they were $24.99. Food was decent but nothing to rave about. The next door ice cream take out is an added bonus at this location.

One of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had. I’m usually a hot butter lobster roll person, but the cold mayo lobster roll was absolutely delicious. Sweet, flavorful lobster meat and the right amount of mayonnaise. Bun is toasted with butter to perfection. My heart wants the tiniest bit more lobster meat, but for the price it is a steal and I’m just greedy!! My husband got a delicious Italian sub (and he’s a big sandwich guy so he recognizes a good one). 10000% getting food from here again.

We had two meals out while visiting Gloucester - here and at a pricey waterfront place. This place was better. Lobster rolls the best I have had. This is where the locals go.

My husband said this was his favorite lobster roll out if 5 total places we tried in the northeast. I had a bacon lettuce tomato and it was also delicious.
Kris H — Google review
We loved, loved, loved the food here! The cheese steak was legit and the pizza was the best we had in New England. There isn't seating inside, but there are picnic tables outside and Adirondack chairs in the parking lot. Make sure you save room for ice cream from the Dairy Maid next door.

We were driving around and happened to see this place right around lunch time. We were craving for lobster rolls, so we decided to give it a try. It was a decent lobster roll and I think $27 was a fair price. It had a generous amount of lobster but nothing really special about it.

Playground
Stage Fort Park, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, holds historical significance as the site of the city's first settlement in 1623. The park was established by businessman and philanthropist Samuel Sawyer and features various amenities such as beaches, tennis courts, a playground, baseball field, basketball court, picnic areas with cooking facilities (bring your own grill), a privately owned restaurant open to the public, an information center, and restrooms.
Even on a foggy day, this park is gorgeous. It’s very walkable with many trails along the harbor, and there are places for you to go onto the beach. This is a lovely and wonderful park that is well-maintained and a highlight of Gloucester. In the summer, it is absolutely beautiful because of all the flowers growing along the trail.

This is a beautiful park, not to be missed. We arrived around 2pm and were able to park for free. The staff at the visitors center was so friendly and helpful. There are plenty of picnic tables under the shade. The view overlooking Half Moon Beach and the harbor is beautiful.

Very great place to take a walk and go fishing. There is a visitor center, if you want to know where you can fish, please ask that lady. They have a bathroom under the patio. Super nice view over there. And free parking lots.
Grace F — Google review
This is a beautiful park with fantastic views. It also has a beach and so much history. My family especially liked seeing the cannons. Unfortunately, we were unable to fully explore the park as we would have liked, due to our schedule, This would definitely be a place that I would go back to. There were many picnicking areas that had shade. The visitor center was well maintained.

The park is 5 stars but there are tons of unleashed dogs, and I stepped in dog poop. People blast awful music and its hard to enjoy any of the spaces here bacause of that. Parking is expensive too. The rules need to be enforced, otherwise youre better off going somewhere else.

Nice park for families. Scenic views of the Atlantic. Good amenities. Beaches are rocky and "swim at your own risk.

Half Moon Beach is a petite, curved shoreline situated within a historical park that features seasonal lifeguards and picnic areas. The location offers plenty of shade, even on the beach itself, while one side of the beach showcases rocks with stair access to their top. Meanwhile, trails in the vicinity have stairs and other hidden adornments created by local artists. With its small size and being located inside Gloucester harbor, Half Moon Beach provides an ideal protected environment for young children to relax alongside their caregivers.
A charming little cove tucked away in Stage Fort Park—perfect for a relaxing beach day. The crescent shape gives it a cozy, secluded feel, and the calm waters make it great for swimming or just wading in. It’s family-friendly, with picnic areas and restrooms nearby, plus plenty of green space around if you want a break from the sand. The surrounding rocky cliffs offer scenic views and great photo spots, especially at sunset. Arrive early in the summer—parking fills up fast. A true hidden gem on the North Shore!

Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial

Memorial park
Located in Gloucester, the Gloucester Fisherman's Memorial is a striking monument dedicated to the fishermen lost at sea. The bronze statue depicts a fisherman in oilskins standing at the helm of his ship, symbolizing resilience in the face of rough seas. Positioned on Stacy Esplanade, it offers a serene spot for contemplation by Gloucester Harbor. Surrounding this iconic memorial is a vibrant town with friendly locals, delicious seafood, and beautiful beaches.
We walked the harbor and found the memorial for all the fisherman who have died at sea while fishing, usually from a storm that wrecks or sinks their boat. Lots of fishing history.
Starlight L — Google review
The monument is on the water along a really beautiful walk around the harbor. Across from the monument are stones with names of all the fisherman lost at sea over the years. There were hundreds but they didn't photograph well as it was dark

The Gloucester Fishermans Memorial statue is a beautiful and fitting tribute to the brave fisherman and their contribution to history. As a sidenote in the 7th season of Bewitched Darren was turned into this statue 🧹🧙. Well worth the trip just to see this part of history.

Last time I was here was as a child in the 60's; it was one of my earliest memories, when I didn’t know what it was a memory of. I've returned as a sailor, with a renewed respect for the souls listed there. A beautiful and powerful memorial that's been calling me for over 60 years.

7 Seas Whale Watch offers an amazing experience for whale watching enthusiasts. The company is accommodating, easily rescheduling trips and providing clear instructions on reaching the departure point. The knowledgeable guides and naturalists make the journey informative and engaging, ensuring that passengers have a great time. Visitors often spot various species of whales and even dolphins if they're lucky. The crew is attentive to everyone's needs, making it a fantastic experience for people of all ages.
This was a great tour! They guarantee a sighting or you get another whale watching expedition for free. We saw a couple different types of whales and some porpoises. We had over 8 sightings. The prices for on-board concessions are reasonable. Make sure to check for a Groupon to see if they are running a deal. It makes it much more affordable! This was well-worth the money and even my really young kids had fun! You do have to pay to park. Download the app suggested in the company email to speed that process up.

I read all the great reviews but obviously you can’t always believe everything you read on the internet, but in this case you can believe everything! We had at least 7 whale sitings 1 dolphin and one seal. The captain did an outstanding job navigating to have both sides of the boat with up close views. There was one breach but I missed that. The seas were rough on the way out and the lady next to me puked, yeah kinda gross but the crew assisted her quickly and efficiently cleaned up. Sure, you can do without seeing puke but I honestly didn’t really think it was that rough. The seas were calm where the whale sitings were. The way back was a really smooth ride. Bring your sweatshirts as even when it’s summer warm on shore you will probably be cold on the open water. The 3 kids, were “bored” as kids are without electronics but really enjoyed and appreciated seeing the whales. “Worth it!” From the 17, 12 and 12 year old kiddos. I totally recommend this company for a great whale watching experience.

Loved it. Excellent tour. Great naturalist. Nice ship. Was fully booked but not over crowded. They could use a bit more seating though. People line up way before boarding time to pick seats. We had to sit inside if we wanted a place for our party of six and that was the last empty booth. You could of course stand outside during the hour+ to reach the whales. Would be nice if there were a few more benches on the top deck to address that. Excellent snack bar options.

Amazing experience! I’ve been whale watching plenty of times, but this was by far the closest encounter, and also the trip where I saw the most whales. Whales swam just a few feet from our boat—we counted at least 7–8 of them, plus a huge pod of dolphins. The captain knew exactly where to go and made sure everyone had a great view from different angles. Our guide was also fantastic, sharing details about each species and even the names of individual wwhales, which is interesting. I’d love to come back again!
Zifeng T — Google review
Amazing experience I don't normally do reviews bit this experience was incredible. We saw a group of humpback whales playing lots of fin slapping and breaches so close to the boat. Such a memorable trip. Highly recommend.

It was really great. The captain and the host did their best to lead us to find whales. We were so close to the whales and it was amazing. The host's introduction was great and she explained it in great detail. The staff were all great! I hope humans can continue to protect whales and other creatures on Earth!❤️❤️🐳❤️❤️

I personally think they are the best whale-watching team in Boston! Before we set sail, the guide assured us that we would have a 100% chance of seeing whales that day! And, in a funny twist, I took a picture of another tour boat nearby that had headed off in the wrong direction. After we had been watching whales for a while, they finally turned around and followed us, which made me even more grateful for choosing this team! On top of that, the guide also took us to see a giant shark! This trip was truly the most wonderful day of my entire visit to Boston!
H.Franklyn L — Google review
Amazing experience...saw 3 whales and huge dolphin pod. Boat was wonderful, clean, great staff, snacks and the commentary was excellent. This captain knows what he is doing bc he gave us the best view of all the other boats out there. Best day ever!

Seafood restaurant

Located on the historic Seven Seas Wharf, Gloucester House Pub offers a casual dining experience with fresh, locally caught seafood. The Blue Collar Lobster Company, situated on the deck, provides the freshest seafood where patrons can order at the pickup window and enjoy their meal on the covered patio overlooking the water. The establishment is known for its fast service and delicious New England style seafood dishes such as blackened haddock tacos and hot lobster rolls.
Hot lobster rolls done right! The hot lobster rolls were buttery, fresh, and packed with generous chunks of lobster, no fillers, no nonsense. The flavor was rich without being heavy, and the toasted bun added the perfect crunch. The seaside setting adds to the charm, casual, fun, and perfect for a laid-back seafood feast. Service was friendly and quick, even during the lunch rush. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic New England seafood with zero pretension. Will definitely be back! 🦞

Ordered the twin hot boiled lobsters with onion rings and coleslaw on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress taking our order was friendly and she hands you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready to pick up. The food was ready within less than 5 minutes from the pick up window. The lobster was fresh and delicious. The onion fries were huge, light and crispy. As tasty as there we couldn't finish them. There was plenty of outdoor space in the front and back of the restaurant with amazing views of the water. They had live music after 4. Highly recommend this spot for great seafood.

I can not get over how incredible our meal was! My friends and I were away for a girls trip and we stayed in Gloucester and all over my TikTok showed this place was the best lobster roll in town! We will be forever dreaming about our meal that day! My friends each got a lobster roll and I got the Lobster corn chowder! It was so delicious! I can’t wait to make another trip and take my family here! Thank you so much for a great lunch!

Felt like summer, outside deck is now open and live music sets the tone for a great atmosphere. Good was fast and great, tasty, delicious. Can’t miss place when in Gloucester, plenty of seating, nice for the whole family or just to hang out with friends. Great service from every single person, friendly and cool about everything.

This place is awesome for hot summer days right on the water. The food is amazing and the portions are generous. They put close to a pound of lobster on a roll. The fish tacos are also very delicious. If you’re ever in Gloucester I recommend you go try them.
Crackman J — Google review
This place is so good! The lobster roll is massive and the lobster is delicious you’re getting multiple claws and giant pieces of the tale. It’s so good! My only critique would be maybe a slightly more durable bun we opted for a hot butter roll, and it did start to get quite mushy as we ate it. But other than that, it was phenomenal. It comes with french fries and you can order a beer there. When we went on the fourth they had live music, which was awesome. This place is worth a little bit of a drive if you’re around.
Tonijoy P — Google review
The food was good. Albeit very expensive here. You can sit on the seaside and watch the fishing trawlers come in and out. This was the area that they filmed the perfect storm.
S J — Google review
The food was excellent — the lobster rolls were delicious. But the attitude of the staff completely ruined the experience. The waiter was extremely rude. We wanted to eat outside, and he abruptly said, “No.” Then we decided to take the food to go, and he rudely added, “But don’t you dare eat it on the restaurant’s property.” Excuse me, what? I just wanted to enjoy the nice weather and the view, not sit indoors. It’s a shame because the food was excellent, but the staff’s attitude made me never want to return.

American restaurant
Located in Cape Ann, Franklin is a lively gastropub offering creative New American cuisine and artisanal cocktails in a sleek, dimly lit setting. The menu features indulgent options like thin and crispy fries drizzled with truffle oil and cheese, which pair perfectly with a juicy steak. Visitors have praised the restaurant for its exceptional food, inviting ambiance, and top-notch service.
For years, the Franklin Cape Ann in Gloucester has been a staple of our local dining choices. We love the warm, inviting atmosphere; the friendly, attentive staff; the great drinks, and of course the fabulous fresh food!!! We were craving all of that, and last night’s dinner at the Franklin did not disappoint. We were seated in a cozy booth, and immediately water was brought to the table, along with their fresh bread and their fabulous hummus dip. Yum!!! Our waitress Colleen, is quite possibly my favorite person ever! She is so incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable of the menu, specials, and drinks… that I let her pick out our wine, and my entree. I told her what I was craving, and she chose perfectly. The wine was so good we ordered a bottle, the octopus appetizer was cooked perfectly, with a nice grilled flavor. My husband got the incredibly fresh off the boat seared pepper crusted tuna special. I was torn, and wanted the meat to his surf, so I got the braised beef, and oh my goodness… we couldn’t decide which was better, the surf or the turf…. Sadly, we left no room for dessert, and that was a shame as their desserts are fabulous and made in the restaurant. Another thing we love is that they have a 2nd floor for busier nights, and bigger parties, along with a cozy bar on both floors to grab a drink, or meal if no table is available. I highly recommend the Franklin if you are looking to impress a date, have a special dinner party, or just want to have a casual dinner, you will not be disappointed, but try to save room for dessert.

We arrived in Gloucester after a long drive from nyc on a friday evening, absolutely starving and looking for dinner around 9pm. Most restaurants had already closed for the night, and we were about ready to give up when we thankfully found Franklin Cape Ann. This small, cozy restaurant welcomed us even at that late hour. At first they brought out fresh bread before our appetizer, which was very nice. The grilled octopus was excellent. I had the pasta of the day with perfectly cooked shrimp. My dad got the sautéed mussels, and my brother went for the fresh ground sirloin burger with fries. Everything was perfect and delicious. So happy we found this place - it really saved the night!

My wife and I dropped in early for dinner on a Tuesday night, and were lucky to get a table. (Make reservations.) The main room is smallish, but even when it was busy, it wasn't super noisy. In fact, there was live music - a jazz duo of string bass and clarinet - that was amazing. I had their special Manhattan, which was good but not to my liking. We split the arugula salad, which was tasty. I loved the morsel of fried goat cheese. We also split a bowl if the fish chowder, which was delicious. The fish chunks were substantial, and the over all flavor was subtle, with a touch of heat (maybe white pepper?). I would order this. For dinner, my wife ordered the pan seared cod, which was concealed between a generous portion of mashed potatoes and a pile of oyster mushrooms on top. The mushrooms were especially good, and basically stole the show (over the cod). I had the hanger steak and truffle fries. Id probably swap the fries for a different side, but the steak itself was delicious. It had substantial bark/sear and was still very tender. All in all, we had a great meal. The food was delicious ans the vibe was awesome.

10 out of 10. Best dining experience and scratch cooking I've had in years. Halibut special with scampi sauce, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes. Tuna sashimi perfectly quick seared with a side salad and mashed potatoes. All desserts made in house - so hard to choose, but the key lime pie was a perfect end. Three of us dined in last night and raved about our meals even after we left. The Franklin is worth every penny and calorie. Highly recommend. **November update. I Finally ordered something other than the Tuna! The Organic Grilled Salmon with Warm Sweet Potato Salad, Honey & Sriracha Glaze is also very easy to recommend. Top 3 salmon dish I've ever had.**

We always loved the South End location of Franklin. The Gloucester spot was actually our first meal out after the pandemic, I’ve always appreciated how beautifully designed and built it is. Unfortunately, this visit was a rough outing. Service was inconsistent. While our main server was kind and tried her best, there were a number of issues. We had our kids with us, which can be challenging, so we specifically asked for everything to come out ASAP, no coursing. They don’t have a kids’ menu, which was surprising, but we made do with custom orders. Still, food came out late and disorganized. Identical dishes were served more than five minutes apart—twice. One child’s meal came out first, as it should, but the second never arrived until we pressed for it, and by then we were already done. We had to take it to go, leaving our three-year-old hungry at the table. When we asked about the staggered entrées and the missing child’s meal, we were told the kitchen thought some were meant as appetizers and others as mains—directly contradicting our request not to be coursed. The food runners also had a trainee with them. While training is expected, the trainer loudly pointed out each seat and person as they passed, which disrupted the meal. It would have been better to quietly let the table know someone was in training and show more discretion. To make matters worse, the trainee came across as rude. The food, was fine overall. The steamed dumplings were under-seasoned, but otherwise there were no major complaints, though nothing really stood out either. All in all, this visit was disappointing. Between the kitchen delays, the miscommunication, and the service issues, it felt like a miss from a place we usually enjoy.

Salih B — Google review
The food overall was delicious, especially the fish chowder. Service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was disappointing and not what we were expecting. The restaurant is tiny and tables are very close together (especially in the middle where we were seated). In addition to feeling cramped, it was really loud. It wasn't the relaxing dining experience we were hoping for, especially for the price.

Restaurant
Yella on the Water is a charming waterfront restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu, influenced by the owner's Lebanese heritage and the Gloucester location, offers standout dishes like fishermens taco with tahini and crispy onion. While some minor issues were noted, such as salty pesto on the Chicken Pesto Flatbread and under-seasoned chicken wings, overall it was a great experience. Parking may be limited but street parking is available.
Nestled right by the ocean in beautiful Gloucester, MA, Yella on the Water is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving exceptional Mediterranean and seafood dishes. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a wonderfully cozy and intimate atmosphere that feels both welcoming and authentically New England. It's the kind of small, inviting place where you immediately feel at ease. And let's talk about the food! While everything we tried was fantastic, I simply have to highlight the clam chowder. Without exaggeration, this was the best clam chowder I have ever had – incredibly creamy, packed with tender clams, and perfectly seasoned. It's a true masterpiece. Their seafood dishes are equally fresh and expertly prepared, showcasing the best of what the ocean has to offer, and their Mediterranean options are vibrant and flavorful. Beyond the incredible food, the staff deserves a special mention. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing a wonderful dining experience.

Had high hopes because I love a good Greek restaurant but was just ok. They have probably 20 wines by the bottle and only one of them (a rose) was Greek. So many incredible Greek wines, why not have more on the menu!? Mezze platter with 3 small spreads and fried pita was tasty - but seemed pretty overpriced at $26. Burger ordered medium was well done. Shakshouka had only one egg and was way over salted (and I like salt) and needed some more brightness. Just too heavy and salty. Fatoush w chicken also over salted but the grilled chicken was very good. Shirley Temples for the kids at $6.50 each seems pretty crazy. But that’s my fault for ordering the kids a Shirley Temple. Gotta stick with water. Oh well.

Yella is a very nice restaurant conveniently located in Gloucester, MA. It has a nice variety of healthy options. We did not order alcohol, so I cannot comment on that. We ordered a salad and a chicken kebab, and shared both. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious, portions were generous. Our waitress Stef was attentive and friendly without be being overbearing. Our dining experience at Yella was great, and we would love to come back. Thank you!

Bottom line, excellent all around. We are not very familiar with Gloucester restaurants but wanted a bite after watching the Bunker Hill reenactment. The service was spot on from the moment we walked into the stylish, intimate inside of the restaraunt to the moment we left. Our meal was superb. I had the Fisherman’s Catch. Perfectly cooked cod (I assume) rubbed with Za’atar (a spicy but not too spicy Mediterranean mix), corn and pepper relish, marinated olives, a little parsnip purée, and some of the best grilled asparagus I have ever had. My wife had the Shakshouka, which also was excellent. Good size portions. The wine list looked solid, at the usual prices for wine these days. Small but good selection of beer including a very nice N/A beer. Yella’s deck is attractive and has a view of the harbor. (Sadly, a small parking area is directly between the restaurant and the water and the restaurant is next to a large parking lot. Only negatives I can think of.) We would definitely go back.

Cupboard of Gloucester is a charming eatery located in Stage Fort Park, offering classic and affordable sandwiches that are fried to perfection. With over 100 years of history, this seasonal restaurant serves up fresh fried seafood, great sandwiches, and delicious BBQ grilled chicken from May through September. The friendly atmosphere and picturesque views make it a perfect spot for a casual meal or to grab food to enjoy at the park or beach.
Lovely little place that's been around for over 100 years!! Food is great! Cooked fresh to order. The fried clams were delicious!! The people frequenting the joint were super friendly and up for a chatty conversation. The few people that walked in had been there many times before but was surprised to see it still the same as they remembered. The owner was having a friendly chat with some other customers and I joined in. I would recommend this place for a great casual meal anytime!! Thank you 😊

So me and my family went in gloucester for the first time to see the beach and enjoy this days off we have so after the beach we came in this restaurant to have lunch but im very dis appointed as we waited for the food for longer 40mins as we and my baby is very hungry and when we receive our food Onion rings no taste, coke taste nasty and the hotdog and bread looks old and chicken tender is old and looks like they just reheat it. I always give gratuity to people. I NEVER MISS anything but this time it very upset me no apologize from them instead they told we are rude as we didnt give them enough gratuity. But come on i never miss anything to give gratuity but the food is NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. we waited and close ur window on me and saying im rude??? LOOK PICTURE BELOW thats how they serve our food look the hotdog and onion rings it looks like they just reheat and very old

It is a good place to get ice cream with a great view. The food however has dropped significantly in quality over the past few years. I got a fish sandwich for just around $14 with no sides and it had a comically thin slice of fried fish in it. The ice tea had mold in it so I asked for a new one, they gave it to me and that one had mold in it too. Yum.

This is a seasonal restaurant open from some time in May thru Sep. They offer a wide variety of great sandwiches, fresh fried seafood, and a great bbq grilled chicken, to name just a few. It's a nice place to go and either dine in or take it to go. Their bbq sauce is awesome, I love it! I would love to have the recipe or have the opportunity to buy it by the bottle. 🙂 I really should check on that, lol! The location is pretty great, too, since it's across from Stage Fort Park. The fact they have an ice cream shop next door, as well, is definitely an added bonus!! If you're looking for fast food that is pretty darn tasty, then you won't be sorry. It's definitely worth checking out!! They are also really nice people, too - they won't disappoint. 🙂😃😉 Maribeth

The food was very bland and tasteless as was the young ladies at the window, very uninviting, the prices are Ridiculously high, $23 for 3 pieces of cardboard like fish and cold Thawed out fries, Honestly the best part of the meal was the buns ketchup, make sure to buy your own food before you get to the beach, because the meal from the restaurant can ruin you day👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

It's worth paying attention to whether reviews here are about the ice cream or about the food. For lunch today, we paid $50.50 for a scallop plate, a fish sandwich and a large root beer. The fish sandwich was some over-fried and thin pieces of a white fish. The scallop plate was nearly inedible. The scallops were barely warm and did not appear to have been fried recently. They were nearly tasteless--almost fishy instead of subtly sweet. Maybe the ice cream at the Cupboard is really good, but I would avoid the fried food--poorly prepared and way too expensive. We went into town to the Holy Cow ice cream place which was excellent.

Decided to stop here based on their reviews. Needless to say I was disappointed. I got the fish n chips came w coleslaw and bread. A LG soda for.$3 extra. Total cost around $28. Very overly priced granted it was probably the area.

The Hammond Castle Museum is an extensive and impressive medieval-style complex that was constructed in the 1920s by John Hays Hammond, a renowned inventor. It is currently open for tours, allowing visitors to explore its fascinating history and architecture. The castle features numerous rooms filled with intriguing information, while the outer grounds are equally stunning. One of the highlights of the museum is its grand main hall, which boasts ornate decorations and leaves visitors in awe.
A Real-Life Fairy Tale! This place felt absolutely magical to me! Just about an hour’s drive from Boston, it’s the perfect escape from the city. There’s free parking available, though it can get quite packed on weekends—so plan accordingly. You can buy tickets online or in person, and they offer both guided and self-guided tours. We opted for the self-guided one, which gave us plenty of time to explore at our own pace. The castle itself is stunning, with beautifully preserved architecture and scenic views all around. Their guided maps are really helpful and let you soak in both the history and the surroundings. It’s a must-visit if you’re looking for something more meaningful than just another restaurant outing. Highly recommend for a day trip!

The Hammond Castle tour turned out to be an incredible surprise—completely unplanned, yet unforgettable. Stepping inside felt like entering a living medieval castle, still echoing with the presence of its eccentric creator. The stunning collection of art, furniture, and décor, all housed within a custom-designed fortress, revealed the mind of a true inventor who clearly delighted in entertaining, impressing, and astonishing his guests beyond imagination.

Hammond Castle is genuinely magnificent. I first went there because I was hired to be in a film, & it was so beautiful that I immediately knew I had to return as a tourist to explore and learn more about its history. The architecture is stunning, full of unique details, and the views of the ocean are breathtaking. Visiting as a tourist is such a fun experience. The castle isn’t overwhelmingly huge, so you can comfortably see everything in a few hours, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. There are tons of interesting exhibits and historical tidbits about John Hays Hammond Jr. and the castle itself, which makes it feel like stepping back in time. It’s also very photogenic, perfect for anyone who loves photography or just wants a unique day trip. I had an incredible time both being part of a movie there and exploring it on my own. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or just looking for a fun and different outing, I highly recommend Hammond Castle!
Mia — Google review
Beautiful! It’s worth the uber from Salem. I’d recommend getting the ticket that allows you to explore on your own. You can explore most of the grounds without a ticket. But, inside the castle is very much worth the ticketed price. And the workers were very nice and helpful.
Melanie G — Google review
It was such an enjoyable experience! The exhibits are well-organized and supported with informative panels. The place is very clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!
Ibrahim S — Google review
We took the guided tour. They only really take you into 2 of the rooms and then the rest you just explore. I'd highly recommend doing guided if you want to learn about what an interesting, peculiar guy Hammond was. I had no idea it was basically a castle themed/built museum ABOUT castles. It's a museum about castles, inside a castle. The gift shop will tell you there were 17 cats and he was buried with them, the tour will tell you that the gift shop is making things up and he had maybe 14 the whole 30 some odd years he was there. That was a bummer. The pool room has TONS of hidden gems that you need a guide to tell you. The view outside is amazing. It's definitely something you have to see.
Kati L — Google review
John Hays Hammond Jr built Hammond his oceanside castle between 1926 and 1929 to house his historical artifact collection (Also radio control experiments and inventions). Cant forget the 8.5 ft deep heated swimming pool in his indoor courtyard he built to resemble a 15th century French village square. Goals. It was beautiful and nice to wander around inside and out. Complete with gift shop and wedding venue options the modern day is present here. The $25 admission is bareable because im sure the upkeep is atrocious.
Anita H — Google review
Visited Hammond Castle with my family and really enjoyed it! The castle itself is fascinating, filled with unique artifacts and rich history. Some of the hallways and alleys are narrow, and there are quite a few steps, but the architecture and craftsmanship are beautiful. It was a bit warm during our summer visit, but that didn’t take away from the experience. Definitely worth a stop if you appreciate history and want to explore a truly unique place in the area.

Maritime Gloucester, located on the charming harborfront, is a museum that offers an immersive experience of the city's maritime history. The restored industrial buildings now house education and visitor centers, aquariums, and exhibitions. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, observe live marine animals in touch tanks, and even take part in guided harbor tours and boatbuilding workshops. The museum also features historic wooden boats and a dory shop where traditional fishing vessels are handcrafted.
We had my daughter’s wedding welcome party on the dock here on July 4th. Perfect location and blessed with perfect weather. We used the tent provided, hired a caterer, rented a PA system (for music and toasts) along with tables/chairs, linens and string lights. We also set up a cornhole court which got a lot of play! Lovely evening! Lovely venue.

Lovely little museum. Nice because it's very doable, we got to see the entire place (which you never get to do with normal big museums) and had a wonderful educational conversation with an incredibly knowledgeable staff member about all kinds of marine life. It's part museum and part aquarium; wonderful activity if you only have an a couple of hours, or on a rainy day. Highly recommend!

Lighthouses
The Eastern Point Lighthouse, located on a rocky promontory overlooking Gloucester Harbor in Massachusetts, has been guiding seafarers since its construction in 1832. This historic landmark offers visitors the chance to explore its grounds and learn about its rich maritime history. The lighthouse is also associated with painter Winslow Homer, who lived there for a time. Visitors can take in panoramic views of the coastline and walk along the Dog Bar, a granite breakwater that extends from the lighthouse.
In order to get there, you have to pass through the gate "For yacht club members only" and still drive until the end of the road for a couple of minutes. The parking lot is very small and not paved. There is no restroom there, too. The lighthouse is very old and needs some good painting, as it looks like an abandoned building. There are no paved trails around lighthouse, so you just have to find your way through the grass and stones. Near the lighthouse starts the long 2250-foot stone breakwater, which leads to one small improvised lighthouse named Dog Bar Breakwater Lighthouse. It will take you 20 minutes to walk there, and the stones are not all on the same level. You will walk up and down again and again, a good leg workout.
Rose D — Google review
Beautiful place. Don’t be thrown off by the “private road” signs. The lighthouse is owned by the state so as long as you are only using them to access lighthouse during open hours and are being respectful of the private property, you’re allowed to use it.
Rao A — Google review
A hidden gem! Eastern Point Lighthouse is a cool place to visit in Gloucester, with amazing views of Gloucester, and you can even see as far as Boston. Along the way, you'll pass by a lot of signs saying private road, residents only, etc. Ignore those signs. The lighthouse is completely public. There's a small parking lot you have to pay $10 for, and a short trail to get to the breakwater. Great place worth checking out in Gloucester!
Lucas ル — Google review
Beautiful lighthouse. U cant actually get to it . U looked at it from the causeway. Lots of lobster boats to see coming and going. To get there lots of signs telling u not to drive on the private roads. But they r not. Just ignore them . $10 to park
Thomas C — Google review
Lovely lighthouse off the beaten path! Drive down a one lane road past the "private road" signs all the way to the end to get there, then through a narrow trail and a little maneuvering on rock to get to the granite walkway
Katie C — Google review
Super cool to see in Gloucester. You feel like you're driving in a private area, but don't worry, it's worth it at the end.
Gretchen — Google review
Classic historical attraction. It was a perfectly cold and blustery day to visit. Appropriate New England weather. It is a little confusing getting there because there are many signs that say private property do not enter along the route.
Oreste V — Google review
Eastern Point now has a guard at the road entrance which dampens the mood on way to visit lighthouse. There is barely any parking, about 6 spots shared by both the lighthouse viewers and nature preserve visitors. Ten dollars to park! USCG runs the lighthouse, so you cannot walk on the property, it is behind a chain link fence. Hoever, you can view it and you can walk out on the breakwaterrocks.

Niles Beach in Gloucester, Massachusetts is a serene and unspoiled coastal area with stunning views of Boston's skyline. The beach features portable toilets, resident-only parking, and lifeguards on duty during the summer months. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the shoreline or search for sea glass and shells. The beach is relatively quiet and clean, making it an ideal location for relaxation or contemplation.
Absolutely loved this tiny little beach! We had a little time to explore before our whale watching cruise, so we went for a drive and stumbled upon this beach. We immediately parked and walked out there, thoroughly enjoying ourselves for a few minutes before heading back. It’s beautiful, feels private, and was very clean.

Great beach for swimming because it’s protected, with a nice view of Gloucester’s Southeast harbor.
Levi D — Google review
Public, yes. Beach parking is scarce on Cape Ann & many lots are for residents only. The entire parking/beach pass system here is complicated and pricey. Here parking is limited to vehicles with a City of Gloucester Beach sticker, but you can walk on or arrive by bike, no problem. We only stopped briefly to consult map. Looks nice, not a large beach. By 11am all parking spaces were taken
Kate S — Google review
A beautiful beach that's quiet, amazing views and you can see the Boston Skyline off in the distance. I visit this beach in Gloucester Massachusetts once a week during the warmer months and 1 or 2 times during the colder months. Sea glass everywhere.
Aaron W — Google review
Great hidden attraction, however resident sticker required for cars 🚗. Quite and not crowded due to the small number of parking spots. Two Porta Potties were available. Nice place for outdoor picnic on our bike journey.
Charles C — Google review
Of all the Gloucester beaches this is one of the more relaxed ones. Very protected area with little to no waves, good for families. Lots of shells and stones around so it is more comfortable with sandals or something on the feet. Glass can be found so be careful. You can see Boston in the distance. Off season swimming is common in March and April. 😱

Holy Cow Ice Cream Cafe, located at 80 Pleasant St, is a nationally-awarded ice cream shop known for its exceptional quality and creative flavors. The made-to-order waffle cones add to the amazing ice cream experience. Customers can enjoy delicious scoops of unique flavors such as Sugar Baby and Coffee Oreo. The friendly staff provides quick service and helpful recommendations, making the visit even more enjoyable. While parking may be limited, the tasty treats and pleasant atmosphere make it worth a visit.
Went to Holy Cow in Gloucester after a day at Pebble Beach. Emily was working the window and handled a very busy line on her own AND I watched her make the waffle cone from scratch! I had a small Ritzy AF/Muddy Buddy and my partner had the Pistachio Baklava. Both were excellent. Any time we are in the North Shore we always stop at Holy Cow. Thanks for being awesome and please bring back the Honey Coma flavor!!!

Delicious! Can see why it won awards. The vanilla is so clean and rich. The chocolate muddy buddy was insanely good. The staff is clearly well trained - I told Vanessa I have a gluten allergy and she got my scoops from a fresh container with clean scoops without me having to ask! Great ice cream and excellent service!

I had seen the outstanding reviews for Holy Cow Ice Cream Cafe, so my husband and I decided to go for the first time on LaborDayweekend. We were able to find free parking on the street. There was a line out the door. We waited in line for 20 to 30 minutes. When we finally made it to the counter, we realized that there was only one person working. He did an amazing job of being friendly with the customers despite being consistently busy for a long time. Apparently this shop has won many awards for their homemade ice cream and have even created some new flavors. Unfortunately they ran out of the flavor I wanted, but it was easy to find another great one. We each got a small size in a cup which probably was equal to 1 cup. We were both very pleased! The flavor and creamy texture was so satisfyingly delicious! I ended up liking them on FB and learned they change their flavors seasonly! If you're in the Rockport, MA area, I highly recommend checking them out! t was our first time there

Not to be dramatic but this is literally the best ice cream I’ve ever had. We tried the Ooey Gooey Buttercake which is was my FAVORITE, the cinnamon churro, cereal milk, blueberry something, & a few others because we went every night of our weekend getaway. Seriously the best ice cream around. The flavors are so unique & delicious. 10/10!!!!

Holy Cow is such astonishing ice cream, it is actually a compelling reason to live in Gloucester, along with its natural beauty and rich culture and history, yada yada yada. Every flavor is exceptional, including the ones that might sound gross at first glance, and even including the vegan flavors. I’m not vegan, but those are so delicious, I just order them for their own sake, not because they’re made with coconut milk. The servers are all perfect. They are warm and patient, even with complicated orders. Sophia, for example. Someone over there is very good hiring people. My hot tip is to get the pint pass. I think I’ve gone through 10 of them at this point. It’s a significant savings. Also, keep an eye on your halos. Those add up!
Jonathan F — Google review
They serve fresh waffles, and the warm, sweet aroma fills the entire place! I tried the pistachio baklava ice cream, and it was incredible — no trace of that awful artificial pistachio flavor you find so often in the U.S. This one had a rich, authentic pistachio taste, with real pistachio pieces mixed in. I’ll definitely be getting it again!

We stumbled upon this American gem after a late summer trip to Gloucester. My whole party enjoyed the ice cream. I enjoyed it so much that I helped my self to an additional serving! We had a great experience here. The service was the best I’ve had in a long time. The food was amazing and unique. We sat at the chefs table just because that where there was room but it was really great. The chefs had a great vibe and were very friendly with us and other customers, regularly checking to see if we were enjoying our food and even surprised us with a little starter for us. Drinks were also amazing. The show venue was so nice and small so it was a great personal atmosphere with the artist. So convenient to have everything here and to enjoy a concert and then be parked for free right across the street. And lastly American authors put on a fantastic super fun show.

What a gift to have The Cut right here in Gloucester! We left last night’s show feeling incredibly lucky — and so grateful we didn’t have to drive home from Boston for a night of this caliber. We were there for Lenny Clarke and a great lineup of comedians, and it was fantastic to see such a big, energetic crowd. The comedy was sharp, the bar service was excellent, and as always, the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish. We didn’t get a chance to arrive early and try the new menu this time, but we’re already planning to next visit. Huge thanks to the management and ownership of The Cut — for staying the course, creating something so special, and continuing to invest in this community. We’re proud to support you and excited to watch you grow!

Sun 9/14 game time Visiting Gloucester for first time and needed to find a sports bar that had the Bills on. Tried a spot but they only had hook up for Patriots game. I get it. They recommended The Cut. Walked over to the Cut and they brought up all NFL games- Go Bills!. Multiple large TVs. Comfortable areas to watch. People were friendly and service was excellent. Upscale atmosphere. Clean environment. They may be, don’t quote me, the only place to watch multiple sports games in the area. O and had Buffalo wings which were delicious!

Paid parking available out front on Main Street and some free parking a couple of blocks away! They were between chefs but served us super yummy onion rings, cheese steak sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, French fries 🍟, and jerk chicken sandwiches! All very tasty! We had our German friends with us and everyone was very impressed they had Bitburger beer 🍺 on tap! Great place for a concert, game or meal!

Circling back as I wrote a clean review. Loved the atmosphere and design of this spot. Clever use of the facade and huge windows. The decor is very upscale and comfortable. Brilliant menu with strong focus on being unique. The dollar oysters are a dream come true. I recommend them and fish tacos. Loved the whole menu plus the friendly staff. This is I will be back soon type of place. Our service was timely, but others waited a bit to be served. I'm sure once the team gels this will fix itself. I would have waited if need be the food was that good..

they book fantastic talent- Lez Zeppelin is particularly impressive and they play here often. however the venue itself has some major flaws. the cocktails are very weak and overpriced so if you plan to drink just take shots or get a few beers so you can actually get a buzz going. but more egregious is the seating philosophy: the floor in front of the stage should absolutely NOT be seated/tables. As long as they are, it means that the sedentary are front and center while the most energetic fans looking to dance are forced to the back where the band can't engage with them. A live performance is an interaction of energies between the audience and the musicians: when we place the laziest unmovable people directly in front of the band we rob the performers of the energy and gusto they need from the audience which oftentimes negatively impacts the music. The audience also suffers, those who are the most physically moved by the music are relegated to the farthest corners of the venue. The seating should be in the back and the floor should be standing room only like any respectable venue handles it. The bathrooms are clean, and the downstairs bathroom is large. However, a single stall option would be a nice accomodation.

Italian restaurant
Tonno Gloucester offers a casually chic dining experience with partial ocean views, serving the freshest catch of the day and old world–style wines. The menu features a variety of dishes including pasta, fish, pork chops, stew, and soups. It's an ideal choice for a romantic night out. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating options with modern decor and exposed brick walls. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere.
Everything we get here has been fantastic. We first discovered this restaurant the day we got legally married, then we asked them to cater our wedding and we’ve frequently either taken friends or have ordered delivery when people are in town. Everyone we’ve experienced Tonno with has also been super impressed. The staff is always very attentive and super kind. Never disappointed in anything we’ve ever had. The restaurant is nice without being stuffy-nice and they have a nice outdoor area when the weather is right for it. They always have their own parking lot! Don’t skip the desserts!!

Had a great meal and experience! We ordered the olives and half dozen oysters for starters. Had the ribeye and it was delicious! Cooked perfectly medium rare and so flavorful. Also the veal was very tasty too. Highly recommend and I will be going back for sure!

We were greeted with a smile and upbeat attitude and we were asked if our table was to our satisfaction. Our waiter Ezio was very knowledgeable about the menu and fully explained all the dishes we were interested in. The Shrimp appetizer he recommended was amazing! The pasta was fresh and the sausage was delicious. The risotto was cheesy and delicate with fresh asparagus. Wish we had room for dessert. Cappuccino and expresso were spot on . Give it a try!

Tonno was great. We ordered the Caesar salad, mushroom risotto, and mussels for starters. Everything was flavorful and delicious. For mains we had the bolognese and Sunday sauce. The Sunday sauce was rich and the meatballs were perfect. The bolognese was much different than others I’ve had, unfortunately not one of my favorites. However the homemade pasta was very good. Our server was attentive and welcoming.

We attended a wedding there lastnight and it was pure magic ! I didn’t know they offered this but I am so happy they do! The moment we walked in it was magical. Every detail was perfect. The atmosphere, every detail on the table like the roses, glitter & candles everything was so special. The food of course was perfection! You have incredible and kind waitstaff. Our server was attentive and she made us feel special even with such a large group. If you are looking for an intimate and special place for a wedding this is your place ! Thank you for making my friend (the bride) feel so special and loved !

I didn't usually give 5 stars across the board but this place was fantastic!!!! Oysters were the freshest I've had recently, food was on point!!!! I got the tuna steak with an additional side of the white beans. I was so happy with my choice. I plan to return next time I'm in Gloucester. I can't remember our servers name but his recommendations and patience was much appreciated and worked out in the best possible ways. I was there with my 2 kids and niece and everybody left happy and satisfied. Server was tall with glasses and he was excellent!!!!!!

Remarkable service and food. The best seafood meal I’ve ever had. Came for $1 oysters from 4-5 pm and stayed for dinner. Tuna is bluefin from the harbor. Swordfish best ever. Great for GF diners. Sarah was one of the best servers we’ve ever had.

Located on the water at Rocky Neck, The Studio is a newly renovated restaurant with a fabulous deck offering stunning views of the harbor. It's a casual spot popular with locals and visitors alike, featuring seafood plates, sushi, and signature cocktails. The restaurant also offers boat slips and a water shuttle service from downtown ports. Despite being slightly off the beaten path, The Studio's picturesque location and delicious food make it well worth the visit.
Amazing gem hidden on Rocky Neck. Varied menu has great eats for seafood lovers or otherwise. Also they have a sushi bar that wasnt set up when we got there, but the sushi i saw being served looked really good. Sitting outside has a nice view of the harbor. By 630ish on a weekday it was filling up on the patio.

Location. Location. Location. They say is the key ingredient for success. The Studio is a little off the beaten path, but so worth the short drive beyond downtown Gloucester. Here is why. The view. Sitting on the harbors edge on Rocky Neck, the studio has a stunning view and outside deck. While we were there, a water taxi dropped a party off right at the foot of the deck. It is atmospheric, especially if you want to feel like you are in/at the harbor. The food was delicious too! I was surprised to receive three fish tacos when I was expecting only two. And though I thought three would be too many, they were so good I could not resist enjoying them all. Spiced just enough with kernels of corn, they every bite was a flavor filled delight. My partner enjoyed the fish sandwich and house cut “frites” (small French fries). Both were really good. They have a variety of other sandwiches and entrees- so something here for everyone. We were also very happy with the variety of craft beer, too. Better than any restaurant we’ve been too for lunch in a long time.
Kevin D — Google review
Had a great table overlooking the harbour. Sadly, we were attended by "Hailey's Waitress" (comes around every 80 years). Bright and bouncy, she had plenty of time to chat with colleagues and other tables. When we finally got her attention (the ice in my drink had completely melted), she was surprised that we hadn't got our food. She appeared a few moments later with the saddest sushi we have ever seen. Who wants grey avocado? We paid our drinks bill and left. The Studio redeemed itself in part for a late lunch. We were the only table there so service was good, unsurprisingly. Very good burger with salad and fish tacos with fries.

Food was not what we expected from a seafood resturant in a fishing town. The lobster and scallops tasted reheated, very chewy. Some attention to detail and fresh prep of food would make this a great resturant.

There aren’t many places to eat on this side of the water, but luckily this is one of them. The studio is a nice place, prices feel right in line with the area and the generous portions make it feel just right. Loved sitting at the dockside bar for that true water front eating.

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Halibut Point State Park in Rockport, just a 15-minute drive from Gloucester, offers stunning coastal views and a variety of activities. The park sits on 440 million-year-old granite and features wildflowers, a visitors center, sunbathing spots, hiking trails, and picnic areas. Once a granite quarry, the park now showcases the Earth's raw beauty and power.
This is a lovely hidden gem I just recently discovered. I’m spending time exploring my home state and I live south of Boston. This park is really cool north of Boston. It hits all my favorite things, ocean, nature, walking trails (short trails), lots of photo ops, and generally nice people. We brought our dog. You can walk around the old quarry and/or you can walk down to the ocean. We did both. There is also a lookout over the ocean that is cool. Parking was only $3 residents but kinda lame they ask for $20 non residents. Not sure it’s worth $20. We spent an hour here and then got lunch down the road.
Theresia C — Google review
Truly a must see destination in Rockport (paired with the Trustees’ Halibut Point Reservation). Breathtaking views of the ocean and the former quarry is stunning. The trails are great for running (not very long but if you do all the loops you can hit 2.5-3 miles), and are well-maintained and mostly flat.
Catherine M — Google review
Nice state park. You will have to pay $5 parking fee. There are portable toilets, also there is a nice visitor center built in the shape of lighthouse, with restrooms, and with picnic tables outside. The park has beautiful zone with flowers and abandoned granite quarry in 1929, filled with rain water. It's depth is 18m. The park is not big, has probably 2 trails, one around the quarry and the second leads to the ocean. You will spend there no more than an hour. We arrived there after 5pm in the mid of September. Not the best time to catch bluish hues of water in the quarry. Try to visit the park earlier during the day.
Rose D — Google review
My mother and I visited this state park on Tuesday, September 30th. Unfortunately, we arrived less than 30 minutes before the sunset that the park was going to be closed. So I was quickly to see the sea and took a couple of pictures. Both the restrooms and the visitor centers are closed. I used the portable restroom next to the parking lot. Inside the toilet was having a big pile of shit but I got to go. It was a shame that I didn’t spend the time to look this park or learn the history about this state park. I would love to go back if I’ll go back to travel east.

Incredible landscapes. Very well maintained. Would highly recommend the walking trail from Halibut point to Cathedral rocks. The public walk ways are a great way to experience the the beauty of this wonderful place.

Beautiful park with nice walking paths that go to the ocean and overlook a quarry. The paths are blazed so you know where to go, and there's good signage, as well as a visitor center, restrooms, and water fountain. Highly recommend!!
Jenna S — Google review
I've been to Rockport many times, and I never knew this existed. What a cool place! Halibut Point State Park is an amazing park with tons of cool stuff to explore. In the middle of the park is the Babson Farm Quarry, an old quarry filled with water that is such a sight to see. There are places to view it from and go down to the bottom, but be careful as there are no guard rails to keep you from falling in. Swimming is also not allowed. Walk a little further down the narrow trails, and you'll find the beautiful sea rocks, which are really fun to explore. Beautiful views of the ocean. One of the trails leads up to the unusual summit of the boulder mountain, from which you can see Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and as far as Maine. Parking is $5 for Massachusetts plates and $20 for out of state plates. A must do if you're in Rockport!

Seafood market
Roy Moore Lobster Company is a no-frills seafood eatery and market with outdoor waterfront seating. It's known for its fresh cooked lobster in the rough, making it a small Lobster Shack specializing in boiled lobsters and other seafood straight from the sea. The dishes are generous with lobster and scallops, and the sauces are outstanding. The staff is friendly and efficient, providing attentive service. While there may be little to no mayo in some dishes, the seafood is always fresh and delicious.
Great location with some of the freshest lobsters in Rockport. Central location and friendly staff, Kenny helped us pick out the best lobsters available! They have a decent 3 for 50$ lobster pricing or 18 each. The restaurant is clean and you can see the fresh lobsters hanging out in their tanks. Great option if you are in bearskin neck for the day! Thanks Kenny, you made My birthday memorable.

Roy Moore Lobster Company absolutely deserves the highest praise! Watching the fishermen bring in fresh lobster right from the ocean and then having it cooked on the spot was one of the coolest dining experiences we’ve ever had. Our 3-pound lobster was perfection—sweet, tender, and bursting with flavor. The shrimp and baked clams were just as incredible, cooked simply and beautifully to let the freshness shine. The staff made the whole experience even better—they were extremely friendly, welcoming, and entertaining, adding so much personality and fun to the meal. From start to finish, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere unforgettable. If you’re in Rockport, this is a must-visit spot for seafood lovers. You won’t find an experience—or lobster—like this anywhere else!

The entire reason we stayed in Rockport was so I could try the world famous "Roy Moore Lobster Company" and it di not disappoint!!! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Ross and he made our decision quite easy. I ordered a the Lobster roll, a half dozen oysters and one of everything else on the board. EVERYTHING was phenomenal!!! You can't get better seafood than this!!! Everything you heard about this place is an understatement. We were staying in Rockport, but no matter where you are staying, I highly recommend you take the drive to this awesome seafood Mecca!!! Thanks for everything Ross!!!
Michael P — Google review
Maybe we just had bad luck today — we came with high hopes but left a bit disappointed. The dozen oysters were definitely fresh and sweet, top quality for sure. But the three lobsters, while they looked great on the outside, were super watery inside. It was kind of shocking how much liquid had pooled at the bottom of the box — all from inside the shells. Overall, the lobsters felt pretty hollow, with barely any meat, and what was there was super salty. Compared to places we’ve been to recently in Boston and Newport, this was honestly underwhelming. Maybe we should’ve gone for the lobster rolls instead? Maybe they were slammed earlier and quality slipped, or maybe it was just our unlucky timing. Hopefully others have a better experience than we did.
Emily T — Google review
One of the best lobster spots in Massachusetts! The outdoor seating includes seven picnic-style tables and a small standing area. The only downside is the very narrow walkway to the seating. The food is excellent!! Clam chowder is thick and creamy with plenty of potatoes and not that many clams. The lobster is fresh, slightly sweet, and pre-cracked for easy eating. The lobster roll is served on buttery bread with a flavorful mix of lobster and light mayo, accompanied by coleslaw and potato chips.
Hannah L — Google review
I so wanted to gatekeep this place… but they absolutely deserve the love. The price is unbeatable, the seafood is fresh and delicious, and they keep it simple—minimal cooking, maximum flavor. Everything just tastes like the ocean in the best way. Pair it with a cold beer and you’re in heaven. The patio seating has a chill, coastal vibe, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Nothing fancy, just perfection in the purest New England seafood shack form.

Can beat the prices for some excellent Lobster without all the extras. Loved the atmosphere. Could use more seating but a table does open up fast. Definitely a place to eat!

To top off our vacation experience. Best value in New England. Bayside seating harken back to a time long ago. The lobster was pre-cracked and steaming. Lobster rolls were the best I've had. Fresh and buttery in a toasted roll.

Second Glance is a delightful thrift store that stands out for its diverse selection of clothing, accessories, and home goods. With an ever-evolving inventory, it keeps shoppers intrigued and eager to return. This isn’t your average thrift shop; the effort put into decorating the space makes it visually appealing rather than just a jumble of items on tables. The friendly staff enhances the shopping experience, ensuring that customers feel welcomed while browsing through reasonably priced essentials.
The staff here are so kind and helpful. There are two separate building and the prices are very low. They have some beautiful furniture and both stores are laid out nicely. Tons of clothing, books, games, dishes, furniture, and more. Definitely need to come often as the inventory is always changing. Can't wait to come back.

I have been coming here since I was a little kid and used to love it, staff used to be friendly and helpful. But now they almost feel hostile. I'm not a reseller or anything but with the way they act sometimes you would think I just kicked their dog or something. The prices have also been going up, I'm ok with this because it is going to a good cause and would love to keep supporting them but it is just not worth it for me to go anymore because I don't want to be in a space where I do not feel welcome.

Such a gem! Really nice items- lots of more office appropriate and high quality items here. You don't have to sift through a bunch of junk. Lots of jewlery, books, housewares, even art supplies and yarn! It's very well organized, the prices are fair, and there are dressing rooms available.

This thrift is a treasure for the community. Not only do they do amazing work providing food and nutritious meals to the community they also have a program where people in need can access the thrift for essentials. This store never disappoints and has weekly themes that are seasonal and thrift style oriented. The staff are amazing, some volunteers and some paid, all are lovely. Well worth the trip. Prices are good on everyday items such as clothes and housewares.

Stopped in yesterday, was our second time there. Each time there is a decent selection of stuff, and the person at the register was really nice and helpful. I found two vessels that from what little google searching I did, may or may not be vintage planters? To be determined lol either way they’re cool and the prices here are very reasonable. Also it’s for charity? Even better!

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Wingaersheek Beach, located in the western part of Gloucester, is a picturesque destination known for its swimming opportunities and low-tide exploration. The beach stretches along the Annisquam River and Ipswich Bay, offering stunning views and ample space for relaxation. At low tide, a long sandbar is exposed, providing an excellent area for leisurely walks. Families will appreciate the shallow waters that are ideal for young children to safely enjoy.
Wingarsheek Beach is one of the popular beaches on the North Shore in the Gloucester area, with a wide area for many people to come and enjoy on the weekends. The beach does get pretty crowded even at close to closing, and needs reservations in advance for parking (currently $45 for weekends). The beach itself is really nice, with soft sand, a few rocky areas, and nice clear water to play in or take photos at. It is a perfect area for a beach date or hanging out on the beach for the day if you want to go elsewhere that isn't Cape Cod.
Nick S — Google review
My husband and me visited this beach every year, We love the tranquility of its waters and their crystal-clear waters. This beach is perfect for families with children or for people who don't know how to swim because it's flat and the water doesn't go deeper than knee-deep for several stretches. If you come during the summer, you'll find lifeguards and remember to reserve your parking online several days in advance. 100% recommended 💖
DIANA V — Google review
“Beautiful beach with stunning views and very clean surroundings. Parking is $47 on holiday weekends (usually $37).”
Jose G — Google review
Awesome beach with very nice water. The beach runs shallow for almost a mile which provides a lot of playing ground for the kids. One of the downside is the parking which is just so costly ~$50 for non resident parking. However we went in evening at around 5 and at them it's free. There is proper washroom which gets closed by 6pm. There are couple of porta pottys which are available.
Karan G — Google review
Honestly, the beach itself is beautiful—the sand sparkles, and the water is clear. Unfortunately, the experience is overshadowed by how crowded it gets, making it hard to relax. The facilities aren’t great, with bathrooms that aren’t clean and no rinse stations to wash off the sand. Because of this, I have mixed feelings about recommending it. If you’re looking for a calm, peaceful getaway, this may not be the right spot. But if you enjoy a lively, social, party-style beach vibe, you might have a better time here.”
Moon M — Google review
Second or third time visiting one of the best beaches in Massachusetts. Parking lot has to be purchased online with ten days in advance, and it sells out fast. It's almost $50 per car, which would be okay if the bathrooms were in better condition or didn't close before 6pm, and the staff wasn't so utterly rude. This is the safest beach for little children to swim, explore and have fun during summer. I highly recommend it, but make sure to be ready to leave by 5pm or you'll be taking all the sand into your car/house.
Livia L — Google review
Fine sand, big boulders and clear waters in Gloucester. Definitely one of the best beach in the state.
Lionel L — Google review
If you’re into a more peaceful ocean experience, this is the place for you! Calm pools and shallow, clear waters make for a delightful experience as you walk out towards the various rock formations. Super munchkin friendly! If you’re wanting to board, go somewhere else, as there are no breakers here, and watch out for the gulls. Those anarchists will snatch food right out of your box as you’re walking away from the snack bar, and should not be trusted. Their beaks are mad sharp yo.

The Cape Ann Museum is a cultural center that offers a glimpse into the rich history and artistic heritage of the region. Located in downtown Gloucester, it showcases maritime and fine art collections, historic homes, and a library dedicated to Cape Ann life since the arrival of European colonists in the early 1600s. The museum features works by renowned artists such as Winslow Homer, Fitz Henry Lane, Cecilia Beaux, and John Sloan.
Amazing museum. My first time in Gloucester and I learned so much about the history of the oldest fishing port in America! The museum was informative and well laid out with diverse subject matter for all. Loved the light house lights on display!

We were here to see the Edward Hopper exhibit that's running from July to October as a celebration of Edward Hopper' works inspired by the houses and the towm of Gloucester itself. Excellent display and the rest of the museum is also a great place to visit if you're in the area. You can possibly spend 2-3 hours if you want depending on your space. There are also some cool sculptures in the courtyard. There's limited parking in a lot across the street. A gift shop is located inside the museum that sells magnets, books, postcards and other things. CAM is located in what's basically Downtown Gloucester if you're interested in exploring restaurants, shops and cafes.

This is a lovely little museum with many wonderful paintings and sculptures displayed in beautifully arranged galleries. The staff without exception was friendly and helpful. Go on a Tuesday or Wednesday if you can. But for me, the jewel of the setting is the extensive and usable research library. Don't leave Gloucester before you visit the Cape Ann Museum! My photos are from the quiet and shady garden.

The best museum on the north shore by far. The cape Ann museum has everything you need to know about cape Ann. The people that run and work at the museum are spectacular. The architecture of the ships and the building itself is impeccable. The archive area is amazing they have everything from trains to fishing to even reports on the cape itself. Just a all around amazing place to go to. Would recommend 5/5

This is a great little museum in downtown Gloucester. The Winslow Homer exhibit was really well done, showing his time on Cape Ann & the various items, people, themes that inspired his work during that period - beautifully done! The permanent collection highlights Gloucester's long history with the sea & includes living artists, something I really appreciated!

An outstanding museum focusing on what makes Gloucester unique. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here. I highly recommend taking advantage of a tour with a docent. The inscription is from the Bible, specifically Psalm 107:23, 24, which reads: "They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep". #abuelosmochileros_landmarks #abuelosmochileros_gloucester #abuelosmochileros_massachusetts

It is wonderful path in the middle of the city. The flowers are just so beautiful and it makes the walk around there worthwhile. You can see also go in the water as there is a mini beach version of it. You can walk to the rocks and enjoy the view of the water. Ample parking available on the street. The most amusing things is that you can see the bridge open for boats to cross which causes traffic but it's nice to watch. Well maintained and definitely worth stopping here for the walk!

This entire Waterfront area is very nice for walking sitting on a bench looking at the ocean and taking advantage of the lobster roll truck. One of the best lobster rolls I've had in a long time in the ladies running it were so pleasant and when I expressed how good the food was they were genuinely appreciative

Beautiful!!! Walking path right by the water. A park is close with rocks to climb for a better view.. Bonus.. They had flowers beds down the strip between the water and road. 💕

If you're in Gloucester, a visit to Kings Famous Roast Beef Pizza & Seafood is a must! This family-friendly eatery serves up an impressive array of delicious options, from their renowned roast beef sandwiches to crispy fried seafood and mouthwatering pizza. Diners rave about the generous portions—perfect for sharing—and the consistently fresh ingredients. The roast beef is particularly noteworthy, featuring tender slices piled high on lightly grilled buns with just the right amount of condiments.
We took our family of six here for dinner and it didn’t disappoint! I’m not sure what other reviewers are talking about, this place is great. Maybe order what they are famous for??? All of our food was hot tasty and fresh. I had the roast beef sub and it was delicious, nothing extra made just the way they suggested it and I loved it. We got a variety of options and everything was spot on. Great family restaurant and one you should try when you’re in Gloucester! Make this a regular stop, you won’t regret it!

I drove from Norway Maine to have a beef with cheese and sauce. I was in heaven inhaling that perfect creation. Well worth the trip and the staff made sure I had a great experience. That’s to the crew at Kings ! Cheers guy’s ! Can’t wait to come back.

We just come by to eat something. We ordered chicken gyros and Greek fries. First to say the place is very clean, food is delicious and the stuff is very polite. P.S. I think they're prices are fairly priced.

We accidentally found this little gem. The service was excellent. The young, tall man behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. Everything coming out of the kitchen was fresh and delish.

Ordered the roast beef which was huge and delicious! Got the dinner with fries and rings which was also delicious! Roast beef rare like I like it. Fries and rings were crisp. Very friendly staff. Definitely worth the visit! Will be back to try the pizza and chicken kabob!

First and second time visiting Kings over a few days. Their Jr. 3 way ranks in my top 3 North Shore Beefs. Very consistent between two visits. A nice big stack of fresh rare pink beef, condiments were perfectly proportioned to the rest of the sandwich. Fresh lightly grilled bun. Tasted fantastic. Good variety of the usual fare on the menu, pizza, subs, pasta plus all the sides you’d want. Steak fries were nice and crispy. The people running the show here are (and I cannot stress this enough) *Extremely* pleasant and the place is spotless, which can be a challenge in a restored diner. It’s clear these folks take pride in their work, as well as how it’s presented. Absolutely solid choice if you’re in the area.

Kings Famous Roast beef Pizza & Seafood offers a classic take out experience, known for its generous portion, quick service, and a broad menu covering roast beef sandwiches, pizza and fried seafood. The roast beef is one of the best and the chicken fingers is my favor. The seafood dishes are fresh and the portion size is good for two people. I highly recommend King Famous Roast Beef Pizza.

I grew up in the Essex county area where a good roast beef is apart of the community. Tried over hundreds of beefs all across Massachusetts and this one takes the cake. From the sauce to the buttered bun to the beef it was all outstanding. The new owners know what they’re doing. The service was excellent, food, and location. this place has so much to offer. 10/10 highly recommend

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled on the far edge of Bearskin Neck, My Place by the Sea has been delighting diners for over two decades with its innovative American cuisine. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating with breathtaking water views that have received national acclaim. The menu changes weekly, featuring dishes like Sam Smith BBQ Shrimp, lobster tacos, and the Appetizer Kit. This fine-dining establishment has garnered numerous awards and is renowned for its premier panoramic ocean views.
We ate upstairs on the upper deck with stunning sunset views for a quiet and romantic dinner. Excellent attentive service even for being away from the main level. Everything was perfectly timed from the drinks, to the bread, to the chowder, to the meal. The clam chowder was some of the best clam chowder I've had in a long time. The swordfish special was fork tender, the perfect thickness, and the best flavor, and a meal that is going to be hard to beat for a long time. The steak was also very flavorful and a great option for my landlubber date. I was allowed to try a bite of it and it was every bit as flavorful. A dining experience to remember. I'd highly recommend it. Reservations recommended especially if trying to dine on nice evening at a 'place by the sea'.

Lovely place to dine but average dishes, unfortunately. I would love to spend more time here for the vibe, but the food quality just doesn't match the price or expectations. We got a chicken sandwich that was dry and somewhat bland, a salad that seemed underdressed, and some okay fries. Probably won't go back.
Dallin N — Google review
Outstanding locally sourced food and innovative presentation. Beginning with focaccia and a red pepper sauce, then shrimp prepared three different ways, and an exceptional haddock entree. Not often you get great food in a tourist area, but this was exceptional. Also had a wonderful server, making for a perfect dinner. Highly recommend.

My husband and I almost went to a different restaurant, but so delighted we chose My Place By the Sea! From the friendly, knowledgeable server, to the atmosphere, to the location, and the delicious food, My Place By the Sea did not disappoint. We enjoyed it so much that we plan on making this a restaurant we visit regularly when we're in Rockport!

Stopped by My Place by the Sea for lunch while exploring Bear Skin Neck. The service was great and the food was delicious. We chose to sit outside on the deck despite the chilly weather and enjoyed the view. We paid a little more compared to other places in the area but it was worth it because of the view and the service.

Absolutely the best sirloin I've ever had. It was perfect. The fries in steak sauce and juices. The greens, carrots and squash. OMG . I wanted to eat my plate. The service was very upscale also. Not use to this type of food or service. Can't beat the view either.
Rege G — Google review
Left this meal feeling incredibly underwhelmed and annoyed at the price of the bill for what was served. The cod was severely under seasoned, and the mashed potatoes were watery. It had TV dinner vibes. My friend had ordered the lobster tacos which on the other hand were over seasoned and oddly seasoned at that… for $70. I will say, the mussels were very tasty, but again a pinch of salt goes a long way. The view is spectacular but the food itself leave a lot to be desired. Disappointing for sure.

Our dining experience was nothing short of amazing. We were welcomed with warmth and true hospitality. The owners have clearly put a lot of care into creating a space that was spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail was evident in every corner. The food was spectacular as well! A lot of local flavors and the coconut cake was to die for. Our server Nick was the best! Can’t wait to go back.

Fleur Cuisine Harborside in Rockport is a fantastic spot with a nice view, great staff, and amazing food. The appetizers like plantains, corn, and clam chowder offer lovely pairings of flavors. The entrees including seabass, lobster burger, and chicken are all top-notch. Visitors praise the best clam chowder ever tasted and the amazing lobster ravioli served in a delicious cream sauce.
My husband and I started our feast with the most amazing coconut shrimp, which left us wanting more! Then we dove into some zesty chicken wings, which really packed a flavor punch! For our main courses, we treated ourselves to the luxurious Lobster Ravioli, which was flavorful and had the most divine pasta. Every bite felt like a little celebration, and we were blown away by how delicious everything was!

This joint is top notch. We came here three times during our week vacation, because the service, the food, and the atmosphere were always welcoming and high quality. Manny and Shawn (Sean?) took care of us during our stay. The restaurant definitely has a family run vibe. The menu is diverse and phenomenal. I highly recommend the lobster ravioli, or the overboard burger. The coconut cake was amazing. The pineapple upside down cake was next level, and Manny said that it is just like he used to have it when he was a kid/reminded him of his childhood. That sold me. It was a great experience overall, and I'm not being hyperbolic when I say I would come back to Rockport literally for this restaurant.

We decided to go here on a whim and we were all so happy we did! I got the Lobster Ravioli, which was my first time having lobster and it didn not disappoint, I think I'm a fan now! Our waitress Jamie was wonderful, she had such a fun personality and made the evening so enjoyable. We sat on the patio and it was such a wonderful vibe to sit by the ocean. It was pretty chilly but the heaters worked wonders. Was a fantastic experience, a must try!

Had an amazing lunch at this restaurant. Everything we ordered was fantastic. We started with a cup of Clam chowder and the power salad. Then we ordered Hannah’s vegetarian pasta with Lobster and the Sea Bass. Both are fantastic. The pasta was loaded with Lobster and the Sea Bass was cooked perfectly on top of spinach and and garlic mashed potatoes

I was super hungry so we got the caprese salad and the coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was sooo crispy and delicious! Restaurant
Mile Marker One Restaurant is a lively waterfront bar and grill located at the Cape Ann Marina Resort. It offers a variety of dining options, from seafood to steak and salad. The restaurant boasts river views and a vibrant atmosphere. Guests can enjoy delicious meals such as oysters, lobster rolls, steak, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Additionally, visitors might have the chance to spot Giant Bluefin Tuna from the deck while enjoying their meal.
We have eaten at mile marker many times during the summer months and were sad knowing that the season was coming to a close. I saw an ad that they were doing igloos and immediately reserved one for a birthday celebration. We have a very hard time getting certain family members out of the house, this helped entice them to want to check it out and it was absolutely amazing. You would have no idea you were eating outside because they kept these nice and warm. We loved having the privacy of our own space celebrating a special occasion. The food we already expected to be great since they have never let us down before, but the overall addition of sitting in an igloo outside in the winter made everything so much more special. They do charge a fee per person to “rent” the igloo. But it was well worth it to have a memorable moment with the family I feel bad for not remembering our servers name, but she was delightful as well. I would highly recommend this experience, even if it’s not a special occasion just because it’s something fun to do We will definitely go back a few more times for our normal family dinner…it’ll help break the dullness of the winter months.

Food is excellent. Local sea food is as fresh as it gets. Special water views makes the entire experience a bit surreal. It does get crowded so orders can back up. Service is very friendly. Also serves the boating community with to go orders. Just a busy place but outstanding food. The atmosphere is very casual and part of the marina culture. Enjoy!

As a regular, I have experienced excellent meals for many years, today was like they were new kitchen staff and new owners that have never been in the restaurant business. My food runner brought out my order of bang bang shrimp, gave it to another table, they said it was not theirs, I said that’s mine and he obviously did not hear me! He brought it back to the kitchen. Then I watched him bring it out to a different table, and again bring it back to the kitchen! The third time when it came out, I said, “where did you go with my shrimp, you ran away?” As a server, his reply was “it wasn’t my fault”. Then, my Girl was craving a beautiful lobster roll, what she got was something other than that for $37. I don’t know what type of bread it was but the lobster was chopped up and looked like it came out of a can. It was supposed to be hot drawn butter on the lobster roll and it came out cold, no butter, about three strands of lettuce and an untoasted, whatever type of bun they put it on! This was not a lobster roll from the Northshore of Massachusetts that I have ever seen, and in Gloucester, you would expect nothing but the best! I got a protein bowl with grilled chicken and I must say it was very good, but the staff were not as friendly as they should be working on tips, but I never tip less than 20% regardless. They all could’ve used a lesson on greeting their customers with a smile and at least acting friendly being in the service industry. I expected much better from the place I have come to love, today was not love in return.. 😵‍💫

A popping restaurant! Busy and high energy. The view of the water & boats was so peaceful though. My sister & I got a variety of appetizers to share; the tuna poke, hummus plate, M1M pizza. The tuna poke was perfection, the hummus plate could’ve had more pita bread but it all tasted great, the M1M pizza said it had a spinach dip base and artichoke but I don’t think ours did unfortunately. Their specialty key lime mojito was absolutely delicious and I’m still thinking about it.

I used to love this place! Not sure when it went downhill. We drive here from Boston every summer as a tradition, but this will be the last year! We were sat pretty quickly, which I think was to our detriment. After being seated, we waited about 30 minutes before asking another waitress for help. We finally spoke to our waitress after she stopped by a regular’s table to say hi first, and ordered our food. Between our waitress and the manager on duty, an apology was never given for the wait, just excuses about the bridge being up (something that happens every day?). Felt weird, but they were down 24 people we heard, so tried to give them a break. Food was just okay, drinks that were described as coming with fresh fruit came out bare. The icing on the cake comes when the table next to us went to get their own drinks from the bar because they had been waiting for almost 40 minutes! This time, the manager didn’t even attempt an apology and flippantly told them they were between shifts right now. If you want a stress free lunch with great views, this probably isn’t the place. If you come for a drink at the bar, you’ll probably be okay. Just watch out for rusty salt shakers!!
Kaitlin ( — Google review
Service from host to server was lovely as was the location. Sitting by the water watching the boats come and go was beautiful. Food was good but not as good as my last visit. Last time I got chowder and mussels and those were both excellent. This time we got salads and shared fries. Fries were limp and salads were okay. My daughter got the watermelon stack and I had a new crab meat salad. I feel like the watermelon could have had more or missing greens (mint?). The crab salad was good but I’m not a chef so not sure what it was missing. Was just lacking flavor and I added the lemon and dressing. It was all fresh but missing something 🧐

The marina is beautiful. The food was good - we got lobster rolls and lobster grilled cheese. They were great. Got a couple cocktails, also very good. Mine was pricey ($18), but I’ll say they made it strong. Respect. The calamari wasn’t bad, but I think the breading it is fried in is pretty bland.Easy to get to. Service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant offers waterfront dining with a large deck, live music, and creative cocktails, making it an ideal spot for a date night or casual hangout with friends and family. We were a party of four and had appetizers & a late lunch at 3:00 pm. The fried gluten free options are amazing! They have a dedicated gf fryer. The gf sweet potato fries and lightly crisped gf fried clams were delicious! Others non gf persons had lobster rolls, (good size for the price), and sushi. Apps were Peach Burrata with pistachios, fried buffalo cauliflower, and seaweed salad. They have an excellent selection of seafood, sushi & sandwiches & salads. They have an outside seating deck. We ate inside but still had a view.

Love this place! The service is always good, the food and drink are generally great (though they lost a star for the quality of a couple of take out meals which were below par - eating in has not failed us however), the location is terrific, and free live music os ALWAYS good!

We came at a relatively busy time, but only about half the tables were full. We were told 15 minute wait, but ended up waiting well over 45. Service was extremely slow and food was mediocre, but atmosphere was nice. You couldn’t actually access the dock from the restaurant to look at the water, which was disappointing. Food was also pretty expensive and they even took forever to bring the check.

We held our Wedding Afterparty in the Captains Room last Saturday 10/25 from 10:30 pm -12:30pm . They let us stay until about 1pm. Zach the GM helped us set up the event almost a year and a half in advance . Everything went great. The food was out when everyone arrived , multiple people complimented the food . Bartenders were super friendly and accommodating, they let my wife hook up her iPhone to the speakers so she could play her own music . Which was awesome . We had a little over 100 people at the event , there was plenty of tables and chairs , and still a ton of room for people to talk and dance near the bar . Will 100% host another event here .

We used Minglewood’s side room for our wedding after-party, and it was perfect! Communication with Zach was great—he was super easy to work with, very chill, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The sliders and sweet potato fries were a huge hit, our guests loved them! They even provided boxes so we could take leftovers home, which was such a thoughtful great for the next day! We were able to hook up to the aux cord and play our own music, which made the night feel even more personal and fun. Everything was wonderful! Thank you so much, Zach and the Minglewood team!

I’m giving this place 5-stars, if I could give it 6-stars I would, and surely more stars if I could. I love being in this bookstore, I took an interest to a poem recently and more poems by that poet and as it turned out the young fella working on stocking some poetry books had a whole book by the poet I was looking for, in hand, can you believe it? I wouldn’t be able to be some sort of unhinged philanthropic if I had unhinged amounts of money because I would be here all the time, here and home reading books, I’d probably open a book store with no books and when people came in, I’d be like “I don’t have any books but Dogtown books down the street has so many books and many good people.” Who knows, maybe one day, can’t wait to unbury a can full of money somewhere in the desert, and be a hundredaire, and keep supporting!

Found this bookstore after visiting one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Gloucester. Great bookstore with extensive amounts of older hardcover books at great prices. Lots of inventory so you’ll need time to properly sort through. The shelves and sections are well marked by categories. I found a wonderful book on Massachusetts golf history. My wife got a book on Jackson Pollock. I’m going to make this place a must stop when I’m in town!

The owner is very helpful and super kind. If you are exploring for old nonfiction books their supply is extensive. If you want to feel as if you are in a fiction story you have read and want to feel like the main character. This is the place to go. It felt like a romance story waiting to happen or as if some creepy creature could crawl off of any shelf. This is my favorite used book store I have ever been to.

We enjoyed our stay. The rooms and clean, quaint, and charming, and the breakfast is refreshing. The inn is located a few minutes from downtown Gloucester, making it very convenient. The owner, John, is very welcoming and gave great recommendations of restaurants and sightseeing. He is knowledgeable about local history and makes for great breakfast conversations.

The Harborview Inn is a charming family-owned inn across the street from the harbor (America’s oldest and most scenic working waterfront!). Walking in the front door, I was immediately greeted by Skipper, the cutest assistant innkeeper, and welcomed into the great room where a complimentary continental breakfast is served with your stay. Each room is beautifully decorated and coastal themed with it's own bathroom and gives such cozy, welcoming vibes. Whether you’re looking for a staycation in MA, a place to recommend your out-of-town friends and family to stay or even a change of scenery while working from home (they have a new remote work package available), keep Harborview Inn in mind!

The lights out front made it difficult to sleep even with the blinds and curtains closed. Felt like morning all night long. The outdoor areas and view were also cozy, calming with a magnificent view of the water. We will definitely stay here at each visit to Gloucester!

The room, breakfasts, front deck and location were great. Everything was within walking distance, parked out back and never needed the car until we left a few days later. The best thing about the Harborview Inn is the owner John! He grew up on the same street and has owned the Harborview for about 29 years. He’s a friendly guy full of entertaining stories. The Harborview Inn is in the heart of Gloucester and well worth the stay!
Marty M — Google review
Our stay at the Harborview Inn was incredible. John was such an incredible gracious and thoughtful host. Truly - he is there for anything you may need. The BnB itself was beautifully maintained and in an absolutely picturesque New England seaside location. Our room had a view directly over the Harbor - the sunrises were exceptional. There is a little beach about a minute walk away, downtown Gloucester is an easy walk as well. Absolutely choose Harborview Inn instead of those larger hotels - John will be sure to take great care of you.

Step aboard the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon for a taste of seafaring life from a century ago. This 65-foot historic schooner offers two-hour sailing trips during the spring, summer, and fall months, departing from Gloucester harbor. You can learn to sail and assist the crew while enjoying scenic ocean views from the deck. Some trips even feature live music and surprises.
We had a really good time on the cruise. I would make a reservation The check in and boarding was easy. The ship is beautiful. There was plenty of seating and all of the seats offer a good view. We had enough wind to sail but understand that nature is unpredictable so you may have good wind or less wind. The captain and crew were both friendly and attentive. They sell snacks and beverages on board. It was really relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommend!!!
Bradley T — Google review
We had a great experience both times on the Sunset Cruise. The family-owned schooner is a joy to spend an evening with the gorgeous Gloucester sunsets. Great staff and family.. very authentic and don't miss the rum punch!
Maxine A — Google review
Great relaxing experience! I would recommend this adventure for anyone wanting to take a relaxing peaceful ride around the harbor. The way your treated aboard is proof that this family values their business and reputation. The fact they they built the ship themselves is impressive. Thanks for a great experience!
Michelle — Google review
Sailing on this family built and owned schooner was an absolute exciting experience. Learned much about the schooner. Great stories. The rum.punch is the best. The crew was very friendly. I learned where the wood for the mast came from the "woods" 😆. This family truly cares. Tom Ellis and Heath Ellis are awesome. Tom really took time to talk and show us a great time. I could go on and on. This is a must do while in town. Finally. There "isn't a damn thing wrong with this schooner". And it's true.
Rege G — Google review
My wife and I mostly enjoyed the sail. Originally scheduled for a day that poured and they offered reimbursement or a new date. We sailed the following day. The captain and his team were super knowledgeable and friendly. Seats aren't really designed for people with bad backs although they did have limited folding seats. My only issue was related to the other customers who seemed more interested in performing for their tic tock accounts than enjoying the ride. Literally playing on their phones, constantly switching seats and posing for the camera. All in all it was a nice sail.
Richard P — Google review
A must do if you’re in the area. This is NOT a corny “olde time” cruise. These guys (brothers) built a beautiful boat themselves from local materials and run a classy operation taking folks out in and around Gloucester Harbor serving good drinks. Highly recommended!
Dave F — Google review
Very chill, relaxed tour of the Harbor. Friendly crew answered all of our questions, and my wife and young daughter got to help with raising the sails.
Dan K — Google review
The staff is very nice and the boat is such a special vessel to take in Gloucester. Seeing it from the water gives you a whole new perspective.

The Gloucester Stage Company is a non-profit theater located in an old brick warehouse on 267 E Main St. It offers a mix of contemporary and classic plays, providing an intimate experience with engaging performances suitable for the whole family. Visitors praise the top-notch actors and the wonderful theater space that strikes a balance between intimacy and spaciousness. The lobby features multiple tables, bench seating, and a refreshment bar offering light snacks, beer, wine, coffee, tea, and soda.
A contemporary, comfortable, upscale performance venue, located conveniently in a quaint and beautifully scenic seaside village. 👏 What's equally important and even more impressive, the wonderful, artful direction and dazzling, highly skilled talent, creates a superb professional production quality and truly memorable theatre experience!

Tucked in the quaint artsy side of Gloucester right next to the harbor and down the road from several seafood restaurants. Truly enjoyed our Saturday at the theater!
Gretchen G — Google review
Gloucester Stage Company is an excellent venue for a great evening out for a theatrical production. The intimate stage and seating makes you truly part of the show and being that more immersed. I have attended 3 productions with them being 39 Steps, Hamlet and this past weekend, Wipeout. Each was a great time with family and friends, highly recommend!!!
Mason W — Google review
Loved the show! But cautious because there is only one fire exit from the theater!?!
Jay B — Google review
A fantastic small venue with some historic origins. Consistently good seasonal programming, and some very good and interesting one off stuff ('Fish Tales' and the inaugural Waters Rising Climate Action Playwriting competition). It's walkable to Rocky Neck artisan shops and restaurants. One could even take a nice stroll to Niles Beach before a show, which I do. There is limited street parking and a 40ish space public lot about 150 yards away, so arrive early, grab dinner, walk the beach. I love this place
Frank L — Google review
Great experience and from what I can see not a bad seat in the house. We look forward to seeing a future production.

This was my first visit to the Gloucester Stage Company and I was not disappointed! The production, The Thin Place was outstanding!! Top notch actors!! The Theatre is wonderful with an intimate yet spacious setting. The lobby is wonderful and has multiple tables as well as bench seating with a refreshment bar that offers light snacks and a variety of small but nice selection of beer and wine as well as coffee, tea and soda. I will definitely be returning. Parking can be a slight problem but I arrived early and found parking on the street close to the theatre.

Brunch restaurant
Sugar Magnolias is a charming cafe located on Main Street in Gloucester, MA. It's known for its creative and classic breakfast and lunch fare, such as omelets and lobster tacos. The restaurant offers an elevated brunch experience with unique food combinations not found elsewhere in the area. Despite being busy, the staff is friendly and efficient, serving delicious food promptly. The rustic yet comforting atmosphere features original art, but it can get noisy due to the bustling crowd.
Went for lunch on a Friday, everyone I was with loved their meals. I got the BLTT with broccoli slaw. Was able to come back for breakfast a few months later. So so good, definitely recommend. Great sweet and savory breakfast options. Friendly staff.
Sabina S — Google review
The menu accommodates all taste palettes and has a variety of different style pancakes, French Toast and Eggs Benedict selections which I loved. I ordered two breakfasts for the perfect 1st time experience here of salty and sweet with the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict and the Monkey Bread French Toast... amazing!!!! Our server Rachel was great and attentive. We were seated pretty quickly. On street parking is available. If you're staying locally close in town it's convenient to walk to and is around other restaurants and shopping stores. Would definitely come back.
Greecian K — Google review
Very tasty omelet and eggs! Well cooked bacon and nice service. The crab cakes were tasty, but not crab lumpy enough for my taste. Everything else was great!
Jesslyn F — Google review
One of my favorite break spots in the North Shore. Always a great assortment of pancakes, omelets and healthy choices. Staff is very pleasant. Parking can be tricky depending on the day of the week and prices are high for breakfast, but worth the trip for a breakfast treat!

The food here is EXCEPTIONAL, and dining here is ALWAYS worth the wait. I highly recommend the porridge, the pancakes, the eggs bene, and also the crazy monkey French toast!

Excellent customer service! My husband and I found this place while taking a trip to Gloucester, and even though it is a little far from our house, we keep coming back because of the delicious food and great customer service. We also love how the menu is constantly changing with the seasons. Most recently, we had the salmon benedict and autumn harvest quesadilla. The Benedict had generous portions of salmon, perfectly poached eggs and delicious hollandaise sauce, and had a spicy buffalo type sauce for the tater tots. The autumn harvest quesadilla was stuffed with squash and was accompanied by a tasty homemade salsa. The quesadillas are one of the things that are always changing. I look forward to going back and seeing what is next.

Love the decor, busy for breakfast but worth the wait. Great benedicts! Unfortunate hours, though. No service after 1:00 was a disappointment.

Passports Eatery and Wine Bar, located on Main Street in Gloucester, MA, is a rustic haunt adorned with art on the walls. The restaurant offers a diverse menu of American seafood plates with an international twist, catering to various palates. Diners have praised the extensive yet manageable menu and highlighted the popular mango salmon dish. The establishment's out-of-the-box approach extends to its warm popovers served before meals.
We had a great time and the food was delicious. Mussels were abundant as an appetizer and we got the awesome bread. Had the Asian curry with lobster and sisters haddock. Overall, a decent price for the meal $71 before tax and tips.
Allan — Google review
Delicious popovers, very good clam chowder, both my wife's salmon and my sauteed haddock were well prepared. Good service as well . We have been back several times since our first visit and all of the food has been excellent every time!
John K — Google review
All of the food was incredible, from the chicken roll up to the bread that they served, to both of our entrées. But the service left much to be desired. It was my birthday, and that our waitress could not have been more rude or dismissive towards our table. Not just about my birthday color but more importantly it when we ask for non-alcoholic beverages as she was a very condescending. I’m not sure why she was having a bad day but it should have had nothing to do with my late lunch.

Firstly, the service is amazing and they welcome you with a warm bun and butter. All the dishes we tried were delicious, definitely try the special menu. A lot of variety with fresh ingredients. We had a pleasant dinner

Amazing food + great services. This was our first time at the Passports and we had a wonderful time dining here. They serve the best fresh seafood. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food.

The popovers set the tone for a fantastic meal - we loved everything we tried including the bread pudding for dessert! Loved the local sole special and duck breast. The staff was also extremely friendly! Highly recommend and would come back.

Loved our meal, owner is friendly. Could barely get my mouth around the crabcake BLT. They started us out with warm popovers. Great!

Topside Bistro is a casual hangout with outdoor seating and nautical decor, offering seafood and Italian entrees. Under new ownership, the bistro has received positive feedback for its cocktails, food, and service. Customers have praised the reasonable pricing and enjoyed drinks like Anejo Old Fashioned and Hope Feels French cocktail. The California Burger and Osso Buco are highly recommended dishes.
Speedy service and great food! We enjoyed the crispy, plump fried clams. The clam chowder had a smooth and creamy consistency, not too thick. The lobster roll had a nice mix of large to small lump lobster meat, and it was so fresh. The haddock sandwich was fried well — crispy, but not dry.
Drew B — Google review
We asked a local where to eat and were led in the right direction to Topside Grill! The clam chowder was rich and flavorful which paired nicely with the flounder being light and delicate. French fries = crispy without being heavily fried. Watermelon margarita = so refreshing. Absolutely loved our experience here!

We had a very nice lunch. The outdoor seating was all filled up but plenty of seats inside. There is a parking lot for the restaurant. The kids were happy with the kids menu (but does not come with any fruit or vegetables). The fish was very fresh! Our server Zuri was great. Will definitely come back again - forgot to order the mussels so will have to try those next time!

Now under new ownership, the new Topside Bistro is great. We checked it out for the first time and were impressed with the cocktails, the food and the service. And the pricing seemed very reasonable, especially these days. I had an excellent Anejo Old Fashioned, and my wife loved the “Hope Feels French” cocktail. Rave reviews for the California Burger and I had the Osso Buco which was superb and beautify presented. We had the Carajillo for “liquid dessert”, a combo of espresso, Licor 43, orange and cinnamon. Killer good! Overall, we loved the happy vibe of the place and its new owners. They are off to a great start and we will certainly be back.
Lance S — Google review
My husband and I were staying in Rockport last night, and picked the Topside Grill over our usual Gloucester House and I'm so glad we did. The food was wonderful! The scallops wrapped in bacon were amazing! I had the sirloin which was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. My husband had the clam chowder for starters, he said it was the best he ever had ( and we travel alot!) . His lobster was cooked to perfection as well. The service was excellent, we did get there early just before 5 beating the rush. I highly recommend this restaurant, we will definitely be back.
Christina M — Google review
Topside is tops. The third try is the charm they say. Visiting Gloucester Monday we found Topside after two other restaurants we we tried were closed - one because of a lack of staff and the other for renovations. Anyway, we are glad because we ended up at Topside and discovered a nice restaurant, friendly staff, good food and a nice beer selection. My partner had the pulled pork and I opted for the haddock sandwich. Both we’re delicious and filling. We’ll be back.
Kevin D — Google review
Went there for our first time today. My husband got the Lasagna. It was nice and cheesy with a good portion of meat. Didn't care much for the sauce. For the price, it could've came at least with a side salad or even bread. I got the Seafood Casserole. It was ok, little bland & mushy. Was expecting a little more. Servers were all great, very friendly.
Nikki — Google review
Travellers, topside grill is a solid stop for lunch or dinner. They have a full menu of items and something to please everyone. Burgers were very good, sandwiches were excellent especially the Ruben. Sandwiches came with fries and Cole slaw and made a wonderful lunch. Caesar salad was very good but not thrilled with the salmon it came with as it was dry and overcooked. Appetizers are standard fare, we had buffalo shrimp and calamari and both were great. We would go back again and we recommend you do too.

The Rudder is a charming establishment situated on Smith Cove, offering delightful seafood and seasonal dishes in a rustic dining area or on a heated deck overlooking the harbor. It is a popular spot among both locals and tourists due to its island atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and impressive beverage selection. The ambiance exudes elegance with a laid-back vibe throughout the venue.
Latest visit won us over. We visited in early June and the service was slow and they just seemed un organized. But last night we returned and the food and service was fantastic. My wife had the steak frites and I the gnocchi bolognese. Both dishes came out quick and we're delicious. I'm a big eater and the portions were perfect. I was full but didn't need a nap. We'll be back.
Charles W — Google review
We really wanted to love this place. We’ve been going to B&G for years and figured this would meet the same standard. Sadly they’re hardly comparable. I’m all for a chilled dish but the artichoke/rock shrimp was frigid and the shrimp were tough and soggy. We each had one bite and no more. The halibut entree was so desperately in need of proper seasoning. I’m not a big salt girl but this fell flat even for me. Putting this in caps because it’s important. IF YOU GO TO THE RUDDER, ORDER THE LOBSTER ROLL. It’s other worldly and the fries are cooked to perfection. 10/10. Service was great, our waitress Carissa was very sweet. Cocktails were very well executed. Wine offerings were subpar. Summer in a Bottle for a rose feels like a rudimentary choice at best. The vibe was great and the view was serene. I definitely won’t hurry back unless I have a hankering for a lobster roll.
Ginny H — Google review
Barbara is bringing it all together at Rudder. You enter as a stranger and feel like you are leaving friends behind at the end of your meal. Grace is key and an elegant low key vibe runs through the room. Everything is cooked to perfection. Saffron shellfish stew, melon balls, prosciutto, and mozzarella starter and bibb salad were delicious. Drinks are great. You can also spot Barbara’s art on the walls while you dine. Her talent extends beyond the kitchen. Have fun!!
Jim S — Google review
Average experience for a premium Boston price. Impossible to park close by, Service was inconsistent, we had to get an additional plate and silverware ourselves. Food was good but not exceptional. Bolognese was a soup, as italian, it was disappointing. Wine served in home style glasses warms up in no time. Prices should be reduced by 30% and staff should get some formation and alignment.
Emanuele P — Google review
Medium sized "tavern" atmosphere on the waterfront with boater access and little to no street parking. Prices are high although in line with current, similar style establishments. Portion size is on the small size, aligned with "tapas" style plates. My guest raved about the Halibut entre, my Ipswich clams were unremarkable at best. Menu is limited and a bit difficult to navigate, beer is available as well as wine with limited selection. Lunch for 2 with shared appetizer cost $145 before gratuity.
Michael K — Google review
We had the most delicious Evening From the fresh oysters to the fois grois, then to the fresh halibut with fresh eggplant zucchini and cherry tomatoes It was a delight. We paired each course with a fabulous wine. The best part of our dinner was our server Franklin, What a delight!!! We gave this a 10 out of 10 evening ❤️
Colleen M — Google review
Fantastic food. Loved the Maine oysters, shrimp gnocchi, and bread pudding. Our server Franklin was lovely.
Leah B — Google review
Had a wonderful dinner here last night. The setting is wonderful, right on the harbor overlooking a variety of boats bobbing in the sea. The menu was small but had a lot of good options. We got a hot lobster roll and the lamb. Both were excellent. The cocktails were also a highlight. The service was like we were celebrities with multiple staff members checking in on us, refilling water, asking if we needed anything. First class staff. Overall a 5 star experience and I look forward to going back!
