Historic Sites
The Old Bazaar in Skopje is a lively and colorful area, showcasing the Ottoman architectural style with its mosques, markets, shops, and cafes. Visitors can immerse themselves in the city's culture by exploring museums like The National Archeology & Ethnology Museum and The Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art. Walking along the Kaldrma roads, also known as Sampietrini to foreigners, offers a glimpse into traditional Skopje with antique shops and quaint cafes.
The Old Bazaar in Skopje is a must-see destination filled with history, vibrant culture, and lively atmosphere. Wandering through the cobbled streets and maze-like alleys, you’ll discover everything from traditional shops and galleries to cozy coffee houses and excellent restaurants. The architecture blends Ottoman and Byzantine styles, with highlights like the Mustafa Pasha Mosque and historic inns, fully immersing visitors in centuries of heritage. Shopping here is a real experience—local vendors offer handmade crafts, antiques, and souvenirs at very reasonable prices. As you explore, the scent of grilled kebabs, fresh bread, and Turkish coffee fills the air. The area is also known for its friendly service and rich blend of Macedonian and Albanian cultures. The bazaar is not just about commerce; it’s a center for cultural events, nightlife, and people-watching. Whether you visit early in the morning for a quiet stroll or at sunset to see the stone streets glowing under golden lights, you’ll be captivated by the energy and charm of this part of Skopje. It’s well worth dedicating 2-3hours to truly soak it all in.
Hynek — Google review
The Old Bazaar in Skopje Old Town is a place that could be a charming dive into the city’s Ottoman past, but it ends up being an overwhelming and uncomfortable experience. The architecture is undeniably interesting, with its narrow cobblestone streets, old stone buildings, and remnants of a bygone era that give it a certain historical allure. The preserved shops, caravanserais, and traditional facades offer a glimpse into Skopje’s past, and for history buffs, this could be a highlight. However, the atmosphere is marred by issues that make it hard to enjoy. The area is overcrowded with gypsies, some of whom engage in persistent begging that feels intrusive and, at times, intimidating. This detracts significantly from the experience, turning a leisurely walk into a stressful navigation through constant solicitations. Additionally, the strong presence of Muslim culture, including frequent calls to prayer echoing from what feels like countless mosques, can be jarring for visitors not accustomed to it. While this is part of the area’s cultural fabric, the sheer volume and intensity can feel overwhelming, especially when combined with the chaotic crowds. The bazaar’s authenticity is a double-edged sword—it’s vibrant and bustling, but the lack of order and the aggressive street interactions make it feel less like a cultural gem and more like a disorganized mess. The absence of visible efforts to manage the crowds or maintain a welcoming environment for tourists only adds to the frustration. For every moment of architectural charm, there’s an equal dose of discomfort that makes the visit feel like a chore. In short, the Old Bazaar has the potential to be a fascinating stop in Skopje, but the intrusive begging and relentless noise from nearby mosques make it far less appealing. It’s a shame, as the historical elements deserve better presentation.
Hristiyan V — Google review
The Old Bazaar in Skopje was an unforgettable experience that truly captured the charm and spirit of the city. Walking through its narrow cobbled streets, I felt surrounded by history, with Ottoman-era architecture, old inns, and beautiful mosques creating a unique and timeless atmosphere. The blend of cultures and traditions gave the place a vibrant and authentic character. I loved browsing the small shops filled with traditional crafts, jewelry, and souvenirs, and the aroma of local food and coffee made the visit even more delightful. The lively yet welcoming atmosphere made it easy to spend hours exploring. The Old Bazaar was a perfect mix of history, culture, and everyday life—a highlight of my trip to Skopje.
Mohsin R — Google review
historic marketplace that has been a hub of trade and culture since the Ottoman period. Lined with mosques, hammams, and artisan shops, it blends Eastern and Western influences, offering a vibrant glimpse into the city’s multicultural past and living traditions. Enjoy walking and around but be aware - on Sunday only few shops and restaurants are open, most of the shops are closed.
Matej S — Google review
Visiting this place is like taking a trip back in time. It is one of the largest and oldest bazaars in the Balkans, dating back to the 12th century. The narrow cobblestone streets are filled with Ottoman-era architecture. The atmosphere is vibrant, full of craft shops, jewelers, cafes and restaurants. I found it great for a stroll, buying simple souvenirs and soaking up a genuine atmosphere.
Luana B — Google review
A very interesting place, calm and vibrant in the same time. Worth to give it some time, both during daytime and in the evening, not only for shopping or having a beer or a coffee, but for a slow walk, to enjoy its history and spirit.

Charming bazar with great food, but watch the weather Visited on 26 October 2025 and spent about 2 hours exploring and trying food. The Old Bazar is a cute, small, historic area full of character, with lots of different things to try — perfect for wandering, taking in the architecture, and sampling local treats. We especially enjoyed some lokma at Lokmades Skopje, which was absolutely delicious! It was a bit rainy during our visit, and some roads had standing water due to poor drainage, so I’d suggest visiting on sunny days for a more comfortable experience. Overall, a must-visit spot for those wanting a taste of traditional Skopje and local flavors. ✅ Recommended.
Enrei P — Google review
Lovely area with an oriental charm and cozy cobbled streets. The atmosphere is warm and picturesque, especially in the evening with all the lights. It does feel quite touristy, though, and not exactly a must-see. Still, worth a short visit if you’re nearby.

Turkish restaurant
Destan is a long-standing restaurant located in the heart of the Old Bazaar in Skopje, offering traditional Macedonian culinary delights. The interior provides a stylish dining experience, while the terrace allows for al fresco dining when the weather permits. The menu is simple, featuring a traditional type of kebab served with hot bread, grilled peppers, and raw onions as well as a variety of salads and local baked beans. Cevapi is a local favorite here and is served in various forms.
In the old bazaar a few minutes from Macedonia square is this gem of a Turkish kabob place. We ordered the traditional salad, some chicken, and a plate of beef kabobs. The food is delicious. Along with their fresh bread, the jalapeños, and the cheese made the food amazing. Sitting in the old bazaar under the blue sky, listening to buskers play drums, was a surreal feeling. Overall, a great experience. I’d order more when I go next time.

It seemed small from the outside but actually it is pretty specious from the inside. I think they have at least two levels if not three. It was very busy when we went there on a week day in the middle of the day. We waited a long time for someone to come and take our order. A table that came after us, got greeted before us. There is no order, they will come to you when they come to you. It was also hard to get our server’s attention to order more food. The kebapi were pretty decent but the kajmak was not good at all. They will pack your leftovers though. All the condiments come in prepackaged bags and they do charge for them which is pretty weird. It is loud in there so definitely not a place to come and relax. Our food was prepared fast but that is most likely because they work the grill all the time. It is a barbecue place after all.
Aleks R — Google review
The food itself was tasty but the portions were quite small for the price. I think there are many places that offer much more value for money. The salad was pretty small. The waiter was polite and patient. The place doesn’t offer alcohol. Overall very mid experience when uou keep in mind that is maybe the most famous place in town.
Jani L — Google review
We ordered two portions of kuru fasulye (bean stew) — one was fantastic, the other not so much. Köfte was good; we shared two plates of 10. The kaşarlı köfte was less tasty than the plain one but still worth trying. The yogurt was delicious. They serve very spicy peppers on the side — too hot for us to eat. No alcohol. Credit cards accepted.

A lovely restaurant in Skopje’s Old Bazaar with an authentic old-style charm and delicious grilled dishes. The food is full of traditional flavor, and the atmosphere makes you feel the true spirit of the city.

The food was okay. I had the chicken skewers and cheese, tomorrow, cucumber salad. I enjoyed the salad, but the chicken was not seasoned and bland. My friend had the Sejuc, which he enjoyed. The bread was nice.

The food was good and delicious. The biberli Kaymak dish was very interesting, with a lot of complex tastes. If you are in Skopje, it is highly recommended.

We tried the köfte and fasulye — they were delicious and reasonably priced. This place is small, old, and local, but definitely worth a visit to experience authentic Turkish food culture.

Skopje Fortress, a 6th-century hilltop stone fortress, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and river. This historic citadel has witnessed centuries of history and was built during the rule of Justinian of the Byzantine Empire. It has been occupied by various empires including the Bulgarian, Serbian, and Ottomans. The fortress features walking trails around its vast courtyard and ancient walls, providing visitors with stunning vantage points to admire the city below.
An experience to walk through centuries of history, unfortunately the fortress looks abandoned to make its historical importance more interesting. You can walk around inside and take great photos of the city. Free admission.
IAN M — Google review
This could be so much more of a tourist attraction for Skopje, but has been left to fall into disrepair and has no facilities anymore. Having said that the views are still worth the climb up! Even before you enter there is a great view of the stadium from the car park. Inside just head for the wall on the right and follow to the highest point overlooking the city and river. Here you can see all the sights from an elevated perspective and hopefully benefit from a cooling breeze too!
Idris E — Google review
One of the landmarks of the city, not greatly maintained. Offers old walls and amazing views but real pitty there is not even a small exhibition or tables that would tell you a bit more about its history and importance. Nice for a Saturday sunny walk but guess not more. Free entrance.
Matej S — Google review
This fortress, also called Kale, sits atop a hill and offers the best panoramic views of the city and the river. Entry is free, which is great. The walls are of Byzantine origin (6th century) and were expanded by the Ottomans. You can walk along large parts of the walls, which makes for incredible photos. The terrain inside is a bit uneven, so it's good to wear comfortable shoes. It's well worth it for the view and the history.
Luana B — Google review
It is located in a very beautiful spot that makes it visible from the whole city. You can walk on the walls of the fortress. However, inside the fortress you encounter an image of abandonment, the area is quite unkempt, with large grass everywhere and wild trees that have grown in every corner. Several of the wooden structures that exist for pedestrians are rotten, there are some modern buildings inside the fortress that we were informed that they were used as exhibition spaces but are now abandoned and in poor condition. The view of the city is wonderful, panoramic and unobstructed. I recommend a visit to the spot just for the walk on the walls and the wonderful view.
Κωνσταντίνος Π — Google review
well let me just start with the fortress: nice ancient walls are great for an afternoon stroll…the upkeep is quite poor but hey, I still liked my visit. beautiful views of the city and its architecture and attractions. on the other hand, we have the so called security team who let you in at the entrance… p e r v central station. run!

Shopping mall
Nestled in the heart of Aerodrom municipality, Shopping Center Capitol Mall is a charming multi-level destination that perfectly balances convenience and comfort. While it may be smaller than some of its counterparts, this mall boasts an impressive array of cafes and stores offering everything from trendy apparel to delightful gifts. The thoughtfully designed space features a large Ramstore supermarket on the ground floor, making it easy to stock up on essentials.
Nice and pleasant Mall servicing the Aerodrom neighbourhood. Medium sized mall with a Ramstore supermarket and 4 floors of shops, a small food court and a parking. Has everything for family needs including a playground and a.. Bowling! Has two cafés downstairs around the entrance.
Domenico A — Google review
Well-equipped shopping center on four floors, with shops that offer different contents, but the most present are fashion details especially clothes. Frequent discounts in several stores make this mall fairly popular among buyers. Own securing and underground parking, as well as several cafes-restaurants and dining restaurants, complement the pleasant picture of the mall.
Boris N — Google review
Nice shopping center with food store, phone store, vape oil and lots of other things.also 2 restaurants close by.
Erik H — Google review
Very convenient mall, Aerodrom is happy to have this place I guess.
Zoran G — Google review
The car access to the mall is a real mess and the clothing stores are of such a bad quality. Bar options could improve as well, many OK options for having a drink but nothing worth for having lunch or dinner. If you go with car like I did, keep in mind the parking machines are located in the floor 0 and not in the parking area itself.
Rafael — Google review
Best mall everrr! It might be small to foreigners, but to me it’s like a piece of me, without this mall, my life would be unrecognizable, this mall has everything a person needs: food, accessories, books, tech, just honestly a lot. I think it absolutely deserves 5 stars!

Located in the charming Debar Maalo neighborhood, Kaj Serdarot is a beloved restaurant that celebrates Macedonian culinary traditions. The cozy setting and traditional decor create a warm atmosphere for enjoying authentic dishes such as grilled meats and homemade bread, cooked in a wood-fired oven. Visitors can savor local favorites like Tavche Gravche and Ajvar while experiencing friendly service.
It is a very nice restaurant located right at the entrance of the bazar. The food is simply awesome and you can try different dishes with grilled meet. The staff is nice and helpful. The price is very cheap and the quantity is great. I strongly recommend it to try local food.

I’ve been coming to this country since 2019. It’s now 2025, and I’ve discovered this place run by new owners — and it’s amazing! The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. They greeted me warmly, and the quality of the food they prepare is beyond discussion. You absolutely have to try the “rolled meat” I haven’t seen anything better in skopje . On top of that, they’re some of the sweetest people in the world.
Soner B — Google review
Little place with tasty grilled kebabs (very smooth mince) and burger (which is a beef patty with cheese inside). Got this and grilled cheese all served on a large platter. Grilled bread with grated cheese on top is delicious. Ajvar is really good too but not spicy (he warned us that it would be spicy). Sadly they don't have ayran. Menu attached.

Delicious Macedonian food and cuisine. Every dish on the menu is meticulously selected and delivered fresh to your table. The staff is super-friendly and lovely. Come and enjoy yourself...
Petar G — Google review
A good place to eat some of the local grill foods or drink a couple of beers. I had the pig liver and it's not something that you would usually find at a grill place in other parts of the world. It had bits of garlic on it which was perfect, just like home
Krippled S — Google review
Cheap and cheerful. Obviously you get what you’re paying for, so good value and service is good. Don’t read American tourists’ reviews complaining about the service - they should stay on the continent they’ve already conquered and not to come here with the attitude “we’ve made this” and ” we’ve started the war” “look at us& serve us” this def will pi** off all exYugoslavian citizens :) just a friendly advise ;)

Great food and excellent service at Restaurant Merkez. Our group had lunch here in our last day in Skopje. We ordered several dishes to share and were not disappointed with any of our choices. The wait staff were very attentive, courteous and helpful. Would definitely eat here if I’m ever back in Skopje

Food is average, service is good. I feel it is a bit of a tourist trap as it is recommended by all guides for being a place where locals go but there are only tourists there. It's supposed to be the only restaurant were you can pay with card in the old bazaar.

What a lovely way to dine in the Old Town of Skopje on a hot summer’s night! Under the shade of the sycamore tree with the gentle sound of the fountain. My ‘ramstek on grili’ was moist and tender and very enjoyable. The staff are all very friendly, paying attention, helpful and really looking after me.
Merinda H — Google review
It's an ok place for a quick meal or snack like ciavapcici or shopska salad. But don't expect anything sophisticated - after all it's a very small place only with seats outside and only with one grill. From vegetarian dishes they have only salads, bean in tomato souce, ajvar and cheese. It's very important to eat like the locals do, so don't order any french fries - for me they were uneatable. Salad were and ciavapcici were very good.

The Old Town Pub in Skopje is a great place to enjoy some quality European-style beer, and is also perfect for dining out if you’re looking for something more substantial than snacks.
A nice brewery in the old town of Skopje. The outdoor area allows you to drink a beer (I recommend their IPA) while enjoying the sun and the view of the castle. The owner is friendly and gives excellent advice about the city.

WARNING: No Real Receipts—Just Suspicious Paper! If I could leave 0 stars here I would, this place is a disaster. There is a reason it is empty, there was only one table beside us. Don’t even think of coming here. I used to come here and it was a good place, now it’s turned into a joke. First off, we were greeted with an english menu, they didn’t have a Macedonian one and then they claimed that the prices on the menu are old and that’s why it’s so much more expensive. Second, the server was like: we don’t have much food, we are cleaning up i will make you Skopska Plate. This should’ve been our clue that she is just going to give us the leftovers. I offered to pay with a card, she said the device is broken. Then we payed by cash she didn’t have change to give us. I asked her to show me that menu item on the menu, she said the menu is old and the prices and articles are no longer correct, yet we were greeted with that menu. The food we received was definitely not 850g and it was cold and definitely not fresh, except for the fries, they were fine. Come here at your own risk. If you remember this place from before, RUN AWAY, it is definitely not the same. Oh, and lastly, I complained about this, she said then don’t come here again.

Old Town Brewery was a great place to sit and relax for a few hours. My friends and I each order their beer flight, which comes with three healthy pours of their beer from light to dark. Not loving beer, the most light was most enjoyable to me. Service was excellent and there are outlets to charge your phones. To snack on, we ordered ten beef kebabs for three of us.

I was really disappointed with my visit to this brewery. The Pils I ordered had a strong chlorine taste, which made it undrinkable. On top of that, the toilets were very dirty, and the women’s stall couldn’t even be locked. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience, and I cannot recommend this place.

Really tasty food in a cozy and especially quiet atmosphere. The Service is really professional and the food was great. I must say that the prices are quite expensive for North Macedonia and that the portions were rather small. Variety of food is great and Veggie is also available. Would still recommend :)

Very disappointing place, especially if you see the pictures beforehand. I’ve been at this place for lunch and it was super empty. I took a seat outside on the terrace and they old me to move as this part is reserved for people (the whole terrace part with more than 12 tables was fully empty and no signs of reservations have been there). After I changed space, I could get started on checking the food. The variety they offer is good, even though the pricing isn’t reasonable in a lot of ways. The food was disappointing from start to end: The Greek salad was with a “twist”, turning it into something really strange. Combining it with baked eggplant and cooked eggs and strange dressing surely isn’t something that should be called a Greek salad. The soufflé with mushrooms was good and something unique, but the mixed mushrooms have been champignons only. The worst of all was the homemade pasta. Is was not only overcooked, but so overcooked that you could use it like a cream for your bread. In fact. I couldn’t even feel the texture of pasta anymore. For me, this place is surely meant to be avoided.

I ordered the Moscow Mule cocktail. Instead i got a mix of vodka and Schweppes (or some other soft drink) which was very disappointing. The food was excellent, we really liked everything that we ordered, especially the turkey and the deep fried polenta. The restaurant is nicely decorated and cozy. It creates a warm welcoming atmosphere. The menu has a lot to offer, so i'm planning on coming back in the future.

I confronted the waitresses about both issues. She just smiled... Perhaps the restaurant is saving on both electricity and alcohol.

Upscale cozy restaurant along the river that offers very good selection of dishes that you won't find in other restaurants around town. The dish presentation was great. My tuna steak came out well done instead of medium or medium rare, which is what I would expect for this type of dish (the server didn't ask for cooking instructions). The service was slow considering the number of servers they had working. Overall it was a good experience.

I’ve had this Korean chicken a few times already and it’s always been delicious. This dish is a appetizer but it is a large portion. I also ordered a plate of rice to compliment the dish that was quite delicious. I will be coming back again to try out the other dishes on the menu.

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Skopje City Mall, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Macedonian Opera and Ballet (MOB). All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Skopje City Mall is a popular destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It features multiple levels of well-known brand stores, cafes, and a cinema. The mall also houses a large supermarket, a bookstore with an excellent selection of children's books in English, a bowling alley, and various dining options. Additionally, there are ATMs and a playground for children outside. Conveniently located near the city center, it offers easy access to nearby attractions and accommodations.
My favorite one Nice clean place with good personal. Fresh pizza and nice drinks Excelent suppor. Modern environment Nice balkon area with nice vision

Best mall in town. Got a theatre on the top floor, small arcade area. Outside is a new park with a big climbing zone and a big slide. The food court offers alot of variety.

Great mall with everything you need, they keep it clean you can literally see workers cleaning as you do shopping. It is a good place to spend your time with friends in weekends, eat, shop, relax or watch a movie

Pets are not allowed while in other malls are allowed. Funny thing is that some shops inside the Mall have signs that pets are allowed. :-) Some shops don’t allow return of products. A very effective way of looking Customers.

The Best Mall in Skopje -CITY MALL(for us 😍 at least)💯👑. Best choice of shops , friendly staff ,on the top floor you've plenty of food to chose and many available seats too. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 🌟💯😍

Very disappointed. I went to Sity Mall with my small Pomeranian dog, who was quietly sitting in my bag. The security guard was extremely rude and threw me out, even though my dog wasn’t making any noise or causing any problems. This is not how you treat visitors. Never coming back.

Skopje City Mall is undoubtedly one of the premier shopping destinations in Macedonia. This mall offers an impressive array of stores, dining options, and entertainment facilities, making it a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. With its spacious layout, clean and modern design, and a wide range of brands, it's no wonder that it's considered one of the top three malls in Macedonia. Its accessibility and excellent customer service make it stand out, and it competes with the best in the region. A fantastic shopping experience awaits at Skopje City Mall!

Outdoor Activities
Skopje Zoo, situated in Skopje, North Macedonia, is a well-known 12-hectare attraction that has been around since 1926. Initially facing concerns about its animal exhibits, the zoo has undergone significant improvements to meet EAZA standards and is now a candidate for membership. Home to various animal species like lions, tigers, elephants, birds, and reptiles, the zoo also features an educational center and a play area.
The price of ticket is very cheap and the space is lager than expect. There are many kinds of animals consider the size and price. There are elephant, bears, Lions, bison, zebra and various monkeys. There is no giraffe anymore. It needs to be maintained. But still good for kids! But if you are traveler without child not like us, you don’t need to visit here.
Mothusi — Google review
Perfect fun time and spot. Our one-year-old enjoyed it, and we as well. Lots of greenery and break spots with benches and great view of different animals.

I didn’t expect such a nice zoo but it was over the my expectations. Unfortunately there is no giraffes but you can see elephant, tigers, lions and some of the birds there. The price is reasonable-maybe cheap- but there are something’s need to be revised.

A nice day out for the family. Not as wide of a range of animals as in other zoos I've visited, but for only 80 Macedonian dinars per ticket (around £1.11), it was definitely worth the price.
Mo — Google review
first of all the entrance fee is really cheap. very cozy atmosphere. the animals truly seem happy here. watching them all fed one by one was a special highlight
Öykü — Google review
Very nice and big ZOO. Tickets are very cheap, less than 1.5€ (80 denari), but not a lot of parking space in front of the Zoo, especially during weekends. Try to get parking in some of the parallel streets above the Zoo. It is very crowded during weekends and some animals are not in the best shape. Overall, a very positive experience, especially for children.

Park
Nestled in the heart of Skopje, City Park, also known as Gradski Park, stands out as a lush oasis amidst the city's urban chaos. Spanning approximately 500,000m2, it has been an integral part of the city for over a century. Bordered by prominent streets and the Vardar River, this expansive green space provides serene strolls, picturesque gardens, and various children's activities such as the Skopje Zoo.
Very relaxing park, with some lakes and rivers all over the place. Easy reachable from the city center. And even in addition to walk passed the riverside. Also a quick visit to the stadium.
Menno T — Google review
A fairly nice park that runs along the Vardar river. There’s soccer and tennis courts. Some cafes, mobile coffee, smoothies and juice spots throughout the park. There’s a pond, some exercise equipment and closed off areas for dogs. Much cleaner air than in the city due to all the trees and location. It’s fairly large, plenty of places to hang out. In the main area they often have events, especially for children.
Cronos C — Google review
The city park is located behind the zoo. The large park has many channels of water with waterfowl and turtles. There are many bridges, benches, shelters and drinking fountains. Children can play on the playgrounds and there is a workout ground. Great park for walking, jogging, biking or just enjoying the scenery.
Jim H — Google review
Such a tranquil place. It is so refreshing to taking something to eat/drink, find somewhere to sit under a shade and enjoy the nature and the lovely silence. Also, great place for walking or cycling
Atilla K — Google review
Although I don't have pictures, I can say this place is quite amazing. Seeing children riding bikes alone, seeing youths playing tennis, and enjoying solitude and quietness is a green flag park. The trees, the food cars, and the green of the park, makes it a great place to visit in a weekend or just for fun.
Jhon S — Google review
Peace, nature, beauty and lovely place. Offers coffee and refreshments nearby. Lake view. Pick nick allowed. Bikes and dogs too.
Iskra R — Google review
Nice place for a walk and relaxation in Skopje. 80% of the park is in the shade, because there are many trees and greenery. During hot weekends there are always crowds. If you visit on a weekday when there are fewer people, you can also see squirrels around the trees. There are plenty of benches to sit on, but when it's the weekend, it's hard to find a free bench. The park is beautiful in every season. There are running tracks, a dog park, props for children, and there are also summer discos. There are many stands for coffee, donuts, popcorn and other things. The downside of the park is that the trash cans fill up quickly and trash is not picked up quickly. More trash cans should be installed or cleaned more often. There is a free parking lot near the park, which is the site of the former car range, on the other side of the Vardar River.
Spase M — Google review
It's nice, there's a playground for kids, some sculptures, green maze, dog run, small pool with ducks and turtles, trucks with coffee or/and fresh juice - even tennis courts and carousel... the park is divided in 2 parts - one is more "wild", it's more green and has water channels with cute bridges over them. But there's also less people and no trucks with drinks. There is only one thing I don't like in here - garbage everywhere... but if you don't mind it, just grab a blanket, get a book and a smoothie and find yourself some nice spot in there.

Situated in Ohrid, often referred to as a Slavic Jerusalem, the cathedral is part of a rich religious heritage that includes numerous other churches such as St. Sophia, St.
The architecture of this cathedral is simply amazing, it feels like a mix of modern and Byzantine styles. I was in awe once I stepped inside, the amount of detailed and beautiful religious frescoes really stunned me. Definitely come take a look if you're visiting in Skopje!

The Macedonian Opera and Ballet is a stunning architectural marvel that draws inspiration from Finnish organic design, seamlessly blending with the natural landscape of mountains and topography. Spanning an impressive 172,200 square feet, this venue features two theaters, including a larger one designed for optimal viewing experiences with its unique sky-blue seating arrangement. The exterior showcases dramatic geometric planes that slope towards the Vardar River, creating a striking visual impact as visitors approach via descending stairs that reflect intricate fractal patterns.
We attended a performance at this wonderfully comfortable opera house on the recommendation of our free walking tour guide. (Alexandra). We loved the modern feel of the interior, we also loved the layout of the seating, doesn't matter where you sit, you seem to get a good view, the seats were so comfortable. the whole lovely vibe of the place, just added to the experience of the excellent performance of cavilieri rusticana.

It was a great privilege to attend yesterday's stunningly beautiful Italian-Macedonian co-production of "Rigoletto"! Brilliant set design and direction, the magnificent Leon Kim, a perfect rendition of the classics, note for note, moment for moment. A true feast for the senses! (P.S.: And the concert hall is new modern and comfortable!)

I have always had amazing experiences and great entertainment at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. While it is not the biggest theater or the fanciest, it resembles a cinema hall on the inside, but it's comfortable.

The Macedonian Opera and Ballet brings the most popular ballets and operas during the year. Buying tickets online is possible if you want to secure your tickets on time. The programme is inspiring and varied, presenting famous classics like "Swan Lake", "Nutcracker", "Aida", "Carmen", etc., and includes new and contemporary works through the year. The Gala Ballet and May Opera Nights are splendid.
Stoјan N — Google review
Quite an interesting shape of the structure inside with a lot of corners, creating a sharp feeling. The seats on the gallery are tilting - which I found great and contemporary. The whole building needs love, from the outside to inside, quite dirty outside and a humidity problem at places inside. My partner said Norma was fantastic, I couldn't watch the whole thing and went outside 📛🤩😂
Manos F — Google review
After looking forward to the performance of Nabucco this evening, we ended up leaving after the first Act. This was nothing whatsoever to do with the performance. It was all down to a very poorly run opera venue where many members of the audience were allowed to get out their mobile phones during the performance, showing absolutely no manners or consideration. I have been to many Operas across Europe and there is always an expected etiquette that is followed of no mobile phones during a performance. Not here. Usually there is an announcement to turn mobile phones off but there wasn't one made at this venue. We complained to the management and asked for our money back but they declined. They said they usually make a mobile phone announcement but that members of the audience ignore it. I have never seen that before at an opera and it's the responsibility of the opera venue to make sure the audience have a good experience without inconsiderate people ruining it for others as was the case here.
Linda C — Google review
It's a great place to visit. The only downside is that it does need more regular upkeep.

Love supporting an all vegan business. The burger and fries was yum. Orange juice freshly squeezed. The inside is a little bit hot and got flies, so it’s not the nicest dining atmosphere. But the staff is very friendly and spoke English which I appreciate!

A warm welcome to a small casual eatery which provided cheap tasty vegan food. As we both ate the veggie burger (with small fries) I can't comment on many dishes but the food we had was excellent. So much flavour packed into a simple dish! We managed to get the only outdoor table - in addition there was more seating inside. Worth noting that it's cash knmy. Restaurant „Old House“ is a renowned dining spot in Skopje, housed in a beautiful traditional 19th-century building. The interior exudes old-world charm with Macedonian folklore items adorning the walls and traditional music creating an authentic ambiance. Known for its impeccable service, the restaurant offers a menu featuring a variety of local specialties from authentic Macedonian cuisine.
Don't miss this spot when in Skopje. Best food I've had in the Balkans in 4 weeks. Superb. Zucchini chips, stuffed vine leaves, casserole all excellent. Tucked away but central. Peaceful big classy traditional restaurant. Id go back in a flash. Reasonably priced for quality.

The whole interior of the place is peaceful, with inside fountain, traditional Macedonian clothing displayed and the traditional music was very pleasant to listen to. The staff are very warm, welcoming but also incredibly professional and attentive. The toilets are clean and well maintained. J cannot recommend this place enough!

They had some really good food at reasonable prices. Service was fast and very good. There was a physical menu, but they also had a QR code on the table where when scanned, you can see the dishes in photos with slightly more information than the physical menu. Wi-fi was available as well. Ambience was also pretty good with lots of natural light coming in from the roof which had some parts that let sunlight in and from the terrace which had glass doors if they needed to be closed. However, do note that because there are a lot of smokers and ventilation isn’t so good, it may be a bit uncomfortable for some non-smokers.

Firstly thank you for finding us a table with no reservation. This restaurant is fantastic, the food and drink is amazing, the house wine was fantastic. Would definitely return. Had the tuna salad and a chicken caesar along with the Pork Pastrmajlija! Fantastic! Would definitely return regularly if I was local.

Absolutely delicious food, worth every cent! Only 7’ walk away from Holiday Inn (where I’m currently staying) I went for early lunch, based on the very positive reviews. I chose the baked beans and veal casserole with okra and other veggies, this latter was just so nice! Portions are quite big and filling. Total ‘damage’ with a big bottle of sparkling water and an espresso MKD 1,080. Nice ambience (although be ready to have some neighbours smoking, but apparently it’s perfectly allowed in N. MKD) super friendly and professional service by all the waiters. Cards accepted, 100% recommended!

The best restaurant for me in Skopje. The price might be a little more than other areas, but it was great food and drinks while I was there for lunch. I had the Macedonian salad, which was fresh and crispy. The garlic bread was really nice with great flavors( i live in Korea and it is sweet here 🫣). The main dish was the casserole and the meat was cooked perfectly and had a really nice rich taste. My server played my food for me.and took care of me. However I did end up waiting a long time, and they apologized and said they forget me. So they gave me a dessert on the house so I got the homemade apple strudel with icecream. It was really nice and I wasn't in a rush so everything was ok. The weather was hot, like 36c, so i was happy to have a beer and rest inside. The inside is very traditional in style and lovely place to eat. They have a breakfast menu until 1pm! And the place was pretty busy. I would come back here again! Just remember smoking is allowed inside, so if thats not good for you, eat outside or in the area with the open doors.

It is authentic and hidden gem restaurant in Skopje which provides Macedonian and Mediterranean cuisine. The prices are a little bit high, but worth it to see ambiance and service. I tried famous old pot as the server suggests. It was great and salty. I couldn’t finish by one person. And they recommended rakija which is Macedonian alcoholic drink.

Seafood restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Skopje at Nikola Rusinski 21, Restaurant Sidro 2 is a delightful haven for seafood lovers and families alike. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere perfect for both casual dinners and special introductions. The menu boasts an array of fresh fish and seafood dishes that are beautifully prepared and served with care, all at reasonable prices. As a self-proclaimed seafood enthusiast, I can personally vouch for their fried squid—always a safe bet!
And what can I say, even though I'm a "hardcore" continentalist, I'm in love with seafood, especially squid. My personal, of course subjective opinion, you can never go wrong with fried squid, they're always ok 😋! And grilled, hmmm, I have a lot of experience, .... well, they rarely "get it right" 😔! Now, who knows, we're not a "sea" country, we don't have freshly caught, today's squid. So, order fried squid, and enjoy. And let me tell you, Sidro is the right choice in Skopje for seafood. They have everything you need, the service is fast, the staff is polite, the atmosphere is pleasant ... all in all ... … a warm recommendation! 👌👌👌
Mladencho T — Google review
It was our first time at the restaurant and it will be our last. The service was not bad. The restaurant is large. We decided to have seafood. My wife ordered the seafood risotto and I ordered the salmon risotto. The food was not bad in taste, but the bad thing happened after we left the restaurant. When we got home, my wife started vomiting, having stomach cramps and feeling sick. We went to the nearest hospital and they told us it was food poisoning, most likely from the seafood. They had to give her an injection. After this event, we will never eat seafood in Skopje again. The food is expensive and a portion of salmon risotto costs 390 denars, and her meal was the same price. I will never come here again.

Sidro consistently delivers some of the best seafood in Skopje. I’ve always enjoyed everything I’ve tried here—fresh, flavorful, and reliably well-prepared. What makes this particular location stand out is the beautiful outdoor patio and garden. It’s the perfect spot for larger groups, but also has a romantic, summery charm that makes it just as special for a more intimate dinner. Whether you’re celebrating something or just looking for a relaxed evening with great food, Sidro delivers.

Service was good, the waiter we had was nice. The atmosphere also was nice, it makes you feel like you were in a restaurant close to sea/river. The savory food was okay. We had the deep fried stuffed peppers, shrimp coated in kadeif, grilled squid and fried carp. I recommend the stuffed peppers and the shrimp coated with kadaif, it tasted good, the other food you could taste that its fresh and of quality, but oh my god was it bland, it was without salt I feel like, let alone any other seasonings. The dessert was a little disappointing, we had a slice of chocolate cake and a slice of cheesecake. If you sell chocolate cake with some kind of fruits/jam inside it should say chocolate cake with fruit not just chocolate cake. The cheesecake was done with pudding instead of cream cheese, which I feel like it's totally wrong...its called cheesecake for a reason.

The first time I visited this restaurants was few years ago and honestly i didn't like the food. But few years had passed and I decided to give them another try. I know it is supposed to be one of the best seafood restaurants in Skopje, but from everything that I tried only the fresh salads and shrimp in kadaif were tasty. Everything else was bland. The tzatziki didn't have any flavor, the carp chips wasn't crispy at all it was drenched in oil and very soggy and I didn't like the caviar patties as well, the fried squid was very oily and not crispy. They forgot to bring me my main dish which was seafood risotto, which maybe was for the best because I didn't like the other food that I tried.

We were genuinely looking forward to dining here – not once, but twice this week – and both times we were turned away because the kitchen had already closed. The most frustrating part? No mention of kitchen closing hours when we called ahead, and nothing stated clearly on the website either. You'd expect that after the first letdown, things might improve – but being disappointed again just days later shows a complete lack of communication and basic customer care. To make matters worse, the waiter subtly made it seem like it was our fault — as if we should’ve somehow known their internal kitchen hours, despite receiving no information on the phone. That kind of attitude only added to the frustration. We planned our evening around this place, only to be left standing at the door hungry and disappointed — twice. A restaurant that can’t inform guests of essential details like kitchen closing times, is simply unreliable. It’s a shame, because we were genuinely excited to return. We don't recommend it.

Nestled in the heart of Skopje, Vodenica Mulino is a hidden gem known for its delicious Macedonian cuisine and romantic ambiance. The restaurant's charming setting by the Vardar River provides a delightful backdrop for a memorable dining experience. With an elegant vintage interior and a charming garden with a small pond and beautiful bridge, this restaurant offers one of the most romantic dining atmospheres in Skopje.
Amazing Italian food in Skopje, that's the way I would describe my meal at Vodenica Mulino. The place itself has a beautiful interior, the staff is nice and they have a big wine collection to choose from. I had the seafood pasta tagliatelle and I would recommend it to anyone. It was very rich, well seasoned and came with a good portion size. The mixed cheese platter was very good aswell. Overall had a wonderful experience and would love to come back

I think they did a good job making Italian food. If you never had any Italian food then you will be satisfied. Their lava cake was delicious. They had good service. The atmosphere is great, but I wish they had a separate section for smoking. I had to move because the guy behind me was smoking cigar. But this seems to be everywhere in Skopje and hopefully they change this.

I must say, i had one of the best pasta there. So much flavor from the tomatoes and bacon, smokey, incredible. No fancy styling, just really good food. Restaurant has large seating area, outside but covered, with nature decoration, pond and a mill wheel. Very nice atmosphere. Only one issue was the staff, which was unattentive even though we were pretty much the only people there.

A beautiful restaurant with a calming outdoor area for traditional dining in Skopje. We dined on a very warm day, but with the breeze and fans, it was comfortable outdoors. They have a wonderful wine list and the food was excellent, service was attentive with great staff. Started out with a lovely fresh salad, followed by perfectly cooked Tagliata, it was delicious. The restaurant was definitely a local hotspot and full of businessmen and was the place to be. Definitely recommend, very good pricing, a little above most, but absolutely worth it.

This place is just phenomenal. We came here on a recommendation from a friend from Skopje and we were amazed with what this restaurant offers. Authentic ambient, beautiful terrace, traditional food, great red wine,.. we highly recommend it and we will come again. Many many thanks!

Pretty much every single dish made here were fantastic. It is no small wonder that the review ratings are so high. Our party sat outdoors to enjoy the cool spring evening. The table was very large, and readily capable of supporting all the food we ordered... And boy did we order. Slice of pecorino cheese. Yum. Salads. Fresh. Mussels in white wine sauce. Plump. Grilled prawns. Heavenly. Baby cow steak. Juicy and tender. Parma prosciutto. Authentic. Rakia. Smooth and strong. Coffee. Robust and tasty. Need I go on? The garden setting created a great atmosphere for our group. The waiter was competent and speedy with orders and refills. He was stunned by how much we ate. Come eat here. Your won't regret it.

The restaurant has very good reviews, so we definitely wanted to try it. We didn't make a reservation, but we could get a table. I wasn't very pleased with the waitress woman lack of kindness, maybe we got her in the wrong moment. We waited for a menu maybe 10 minutes, while nobody looked at us. But the waiter guy was friendly and smiley. And the food is AMAZING. I saw a review about a Sicilian pasta, so I didn't hesitate, it was my choice. It was really, really good. My friend chose a pasta with shrimps, also good. Its a bit more expensive than the restaurant next to it, I don't say this one is better, but it certainly fancier. Both are great, visit both!

A nice shopping mall, had visited it on Tuesday, the 15th of July 2025. The "Everest" Café is highly recommended. The supermarket is large and excellent, and has a nice and big variety, for practically anything you may need. Also the Books booth is recommended - check it, he has some (albeit few) good Books in English, too.

Park
Nature & Parks
Woman-Warrior Park is a small but richly adorned green space featuring numerous statues, including a striking woman warrior figure. The park offers a peaceful retreat from bustling city tours, with ample shaded areas, benches, and refreshing fountains. While the name may suggest otherwise, the park showcases various carved figures of male soldiers, writers, politicians, and revolutionaries.
One of my favorite parks located downtown. There is so much history condensed in this little land told by all the statues in it. There is the memorial of the army and pilots that lost their life’s in the war of 2001. One dedicated to all the women and children vanished from their homes in the Aegean Macedonia, today’s Northern Territory of Greece, one of the many genocides done to the Macedonian people. One dedicated to the formation of the first party that rose against the Ottoman Empire on these lands. Individual statues of the president of the small 10 days existence of a Republic formed during the wars against the Ottomans and the young warrior that knew he didn’t have the enough men in his army but still went into battle and died a hero (asked the last 6 men in his army to all kill each other so they don’t die by the enemy’s hand and they did knowing they lost the battle). One of the first meetings of the newly formed government of the freed Macedonian territory. I don’t know what the deal is with the Greek methodology God statue is but it’s there and it looks nice. This park is between the City Trade Center and the Government Building, close to the city hospital and the city fresh market with the public square on the other side of the park which you can also access through the Triumph Gate. It is beautifully green in spring and summer and while it is in the middle of a busy area, it is perfectly peaceful.

my favourite park in the great city of skopje. I mean these benches (shown in photo)… say less 😏 perfect for a cheeky afternoon nap or to just lie down and contemplate the world and our existence in this harsh capitalist society which values our output over ourselves

Nice park with some fascinating statues and monuments, including the first statue I’ve ever seen of a whole group of people at a table.

A beautiful small park filled with statues and history. The park pays tribute to the role of women across the rich history of Macedonia. The Woman Warrior Park (Gradski Park) in Skopje, North Macedonia, is a small public park that holds historical and cultural significance. The park is home to a notable monument, known as the “Monument to the Woman Fighter” (Споменик на жената борец), which commemorates the role of women in the anti-fascist struggle during World War II.
Cristian G — Google review
Pretty brilliant park with intriguing and exciting architecture. When i see an innovative bench it does add to my enjoyment of a park, and this one had this great one, perfect for lying down. One downside… lots of statues of men… idk what that was about
Pia B — Google review
Small but beautiful park in Skopje dedicated to woman fighters in spite of the many statues of men in the same area. The City of Skopje has many statues throughout and these are impressive as well. We walked through the park on our walking tour of the city. Great use of our short stay in Skopje.
Jamie W — Google review
In fact, very little space to sit on a bench or a blanket on the grass, most of the space is taken up by monuments. I know what they are for but nevertheless there are too many of them. On a hot day you can breathe in the shade of the trees.
Deux M — Google review
A statue per person... It's kind of weird but that's the one of the whole thing of Skopje, but this park especially, my god so many statues. There is a mixture of odd-looking Yugoslav style (which is definitely cooler) and modern style. Downside is those ugly graffiti. Yeah, people do it everywhere but that's the responsibility of the municipality: protect the art and take care of it.

Shopping mall
The City Trade Center Skopje is a large shopping mall located in the city centre. It has a variety of stores, including some well-known brands, and there are restaurants here too. The mall is convenient to use, and it is an old building that has been well maintained.
It is like an open air mall, or a covered pedestrian street, or a new take on public spaces. It is something unique, something different. The brutalist aspects of it is responsible for this if you ask me. There are many stores, some restaurants, a few pubs and cafes as well. Definitely a unique spot to visit.

Sights & Landmarks

Mustafa Paša Mosque, situated on a hillside overlooking Skopje's Old Bazaar, is a well-preserved 15th-century mosque with stunning Islamic patterns and decorations reminiscent of those found in Turkey. The mosque features a peaceful rose garden and offers breathtaking views of the old town. Visitors can explore the interior when there are no religious activities, leaving their shoes at the entrance as per tradition.
Visiting the Mustafa Pasha Mosque in Skopje was a peaceful and inspiring experience. The moment I entered the courtyard, I was struck by the beauty of its Ottoman architecture and the calm atmosphere that surrounded the mosque. Its elegant dome, slender minaret, and intricate details made it one of the most stunning landmarks I saw in the city. Inside, the mosque was serene and beautifully decorated, with intricate patterns and a sense of history that added to its charm. The well-kept gardens around it offered a quiet place to pause and reflect, away from the busy city. The Mustafa Pasha Mosque was both spiritually uplifting and historically fascinating—a true gem of Skopje.

Had a chance doing our prayer in this beautiful old mosque. The ablution is outside. The mosque is not that big. It's built in 1492 during ottoman empire. The mosque is largely intact from its original state and no additions have been made. It has 2 floors with narrow stairs where the second floor is for women prayer hall. However, if no crowd, the women can pray at 1st floor at the women prayer hall area.

Casa Cubana is a Cuba-themed bar located in the city center of Skopje, offering a lively environment with Latin music and a great atmosphere. The place is known for organizing fantastic Latino night parties, making it an ideal spot for those who enjoy dancing. While the food is said to be tasty and reasonably priced, some visitors have mentioned that portion sizes may not always align with what's listed on the menu. The cocktails are generally considered good and reasonably priced.
Well, I visited this place because I am Cuban and I wanted to know if it is similar to the bars in Cuba and to my surprise I really liked that I could have some good Cuban rum cocktails and in general the place is very nice. Also Caribbean and international music. If you are looking for something different from Macedonian culture I recommend this place.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante da Gino, located in the City Shopping Centre GTC at the heart of Macedonia's capital, is highly regarded as one of the best Italian restaurants in the country. The restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Italian cuisine with a Macedonian twist. Visitors can expect fresh and perfectly cooked pizza and pasta dishes made with high-quality ingredients. While some patrons have noted that service could be quicker, others praise the pleasant waitstaff and delicious food.
We have been there yesterday. The food was very delicious. They serve Italian and local Macedonian food and self made ice cream, which is really tasty. We sat outside and they had nice big ventilator to cool down a bit. Service was good and very fast. You don't have to wait long for your food. We had two different salads, bread and fried cheese and as I said before ice cream. Everything could be recommended. We liked it and would come back if we come here again.

It gets 2 stars only because of the excellent atmosphere and the great service. The food deserves a zero. At least what I ordered did. I'm sure other things from their overly huge menu are probably fine, though. DO NOT get the lasagna!!! 🤢 It is the worst lasagna I've ever had in my lifetime.🤮 Not an exaggeration! I'm sure it was pre-prepared, froze, and microwaved because some spots were hot, but most were lukewarm to room temp. The noodles were absolute mush. No consistency to them. Like baby food level mush. And the tomato sauce was so bland and not tomato flavored I couldn't believe it. I still forced most of it down because I was starving after being on a tour all day. On top of all that, the beer they brought me was flat! When the waiter came, he had the bottle open, so I'm sure it was opened quite awhile ago and the fizz left it. SOMETHING must have happened for it to be that flat because I have opened beers, drank half, put the rest in the fridge, and it still had fizz hours later. Not this. It was like it was opened yesterday. I still drank most of it, though, because I was so thirsty after that hot day. I should have returned it, but I dont like people thinking I'm a difficult customer who makes things up. I used to own a restaurant and know how difficult it is, so I don't like to complain ever. The place was busy with locals, so they must have been here before and like it. Maybe I just got unlucky?🤔🫤 Regardless, I'm leaving the country tomorrow, so I'll never return anyway.

While Gino is widely known as a restaurant, I want to focus this review exclusively on their bakery and dessert counter, which in my opinion, is where they truly shine—especially compared to the rest of the menu, which hasn’t quite maintained the same standard over the years. 🍦 Mandarin Ice Cream – A Taste of My Childhood Ever since I was a little girl—walking across the bridge after music school—Gino’s mandarin ice cream has held a special place in my heart. Even 25 years later, they still serve it, and it’s just as refreshing and unique as I remember. I’m typically not a sorbet person, but this one hits different. I don’t know if it’s made from real fruit, but it tastes incredibly authentic and vibrant. A must-try. 🍰 Signature Cakes That Never Miss • The “Gino” Cake – Named after the restaurant, this dessert is made with delicate phyllo pastry, layered with chocolate and vanilla custard. It’s light, yet deeply satisfying—the kind of dessert that doesn’t weigh you down but still gives you that “yes, this is exactly what I wanted” feeling. • Fruit Tart Variant – A lighter version of the Gino cake, featuring the same vanilla custard and phyllo base, topped with a variety of fresh fruits. It feels like a hybrid between a classic Italian cake and a French fruit tart—elegant, fresh, and not overly sweet. 🌰 Other Temptations They’ve recently expanded their cake selection, and one that stood out was the pistachio cake—rich, nutty, and well-balanced. There are many more I’ve yet to try, and I’m genuinely excited to go back and explore the rest of the display. ⸻ 🎯 Final Thoughts: Even if you’re skipping the full meal at Gino, don’t miss their dessert counter. Their cakes, cookies, and especially that iconic mandarin ice cream are a Skopje staple. It’s a beautiful blend of nostalgia and consistently great quality—rare to find over decades.

I have been to this restaurant a few times in the past but this was my first visit after a few years and it felt like it has lost its charm. I had a feeling we were unwelcomed and they couldn’t wait to see us leave. The coffee was good and the chocolate crape as well. One crape is more than enough for two people to share. Didn’t seam super clean and the vibe is stale. I would say is more of a business meetup place than a casual restaurant.

The ćevapi were excellent – juicy, tasty, and perfectly grilled! The waiter was extremely helpful and friendly, which really enhanced the experience. Went looking for a lunch place and came across this, had a look at what people were eating and it looked good. We got the sausage, chicken and liver portions with fries and Macedonian salad! Fantastic, it was very busy so service was a little slow but it didn't matter as a few beers helped with the afternoon heat!

This place was recommended to me by a local and silly me, I didn't check the reviews before I came. Terrible service, was completely ignored, finally ordered after trying to get waiters attention for half hour (I was just about to leave but because it was recommended by the local, I stayed) food came quickly, beans were cold & had to send back, the salad had minimal tomato & onions, bread cold cold, when hot beans came out they were completely tasteless!! Best thing was the beer ! Dont bother!!! Extremely disappointing 😞

We went here because of a recommendation. However it turned out in a bad experience. We were completely scammed. We ordered the mixed grill which was 800 and he told us it was for 5 persons. At the end he charged us 4000 and said that the 800 was price per person. Which is very high since an average dish costs around 200/250. When we said something about it they got very angry and started calling us names. Super bad experience at this restaurant. Maybe we could have expected that we as tourists could have gotten scammed seeing the name of the place..

Don’t go there. A restaurant calling itself ‚Turist‘ has to offer credit card payment. Super pricy for snack bar quality. (19€ for a low level mixed grill with ajvar and a beer)

Unfortunately I can't recommend this restaurant. The food was underwhelming, and the service was exceptionally poor. We had a celiac in our group and had to ask twice for a new fork (the forks they brought out were touching the bread). We also had to ask for the bill twice. The food itself was okay. Our tour guide recommended the kebab with baked beans. I can say that the meat was indeed delicious, but the beans and shopska salad left much to be desired.

Monuments & Statues
The Millennium Cross is a prominent monument located at the highest point of Vodno Mountain near Skopje, Macedonia. Standing at 66 meters tall, it was built in 2002 to commemorate 2,000 years of Christianity. Visitors can access the cross via a cable car and enjoy picturesque views of the city below. The area also offers opportunities for outdoor activities such as trekking on mountain trails and exploring historical landmarks like the Skopje Aqueduct.
It was good! Cable car was great, the attendants unlike in some other cities, like in Funchal and Santiago, with cable cars do not rudely ask you to ride with strangers or fill it up that you do not enjoy the ride! (In one of the photos it was filled up because they choose to and it was on the way down)
Charlie C — Google review
Currently closed so only able to ascend to the foot of the cross and not go inside. Area around is in need of some TLC, as there are limited facilities, a good deal of rubbish scattered on the mountainside and just portaloos if you need the toilet. Having said that the view is amazing on all sides and the ride up in the cable car is quick and great value (100MKD per person) so if you have a spare hour or two it's worth a visit.
Idris E — Google review
Impressive structure. Great view. There is food and drnk at the top. The tram ride up is great (windows could have been cleaner).
Roundglendive — Google review
Cool place with nice views. It's missing some toilets and maybe some lovelier cafes/restaurants. Still, definitely worth visiting for the views but also to see the HUGE cross close-up.
Vlad C — Google review
The cablecar is not working, so I chose to walk to the Millennium Cross. I started from near the central bus terminal. Walked to near Hotel Panoramika Design & Spa & I saw other trekkers, so I just followed them. After reaching Mid Vodno, go up the steps next to Zelenika beer garden. A nice but difficult mountain trek. It took me totally 2 hours, & it’s rewarding. Cable car provides nice views but trekking is an experience & challenge.
Connie W — Google review
You will need to use Cable Car to reach the top easily. It costs only 100 MKD (nearly 2 euros) for two way. There are options to hike but might take a lot of time. Be aware of the timing of Cable Car. Runs only every 30 mins. The top requires around 15-20 mins to visit unless you wanna hang out and enjoy the view for longer time.
Amiel S — Google review
Sad some "idiots" build something right next to the cross (comm tower) which kinda destroys the vibe. To get the best view of Skopje, take a right down a path next to the cable car building, which gives a great view of Skopje . But also go behind the cross, where u can find some platforms overlooking a beautiful valley
ForSeTi — Google review
Nice to go up with the cable car and magnificent view! Unfortunately the lift in the cross is broken down, and the place is empty and rundown. You can get something to drink but no more than that.

Great price for new (2024) cars. Even able to turn the car in at the airport for just €10 extra. Clear instructions on how to cross the border etc. 5/5.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled within the historic walls of a former railway station, the Museum of the City of Skopje is a captivating destination that chronicles the vibrant history and resilience of this remarkable city. This cultural gem not only showcases exhibitions detailing Skopje's evolution from its earliest settlements around 3000 BC to modern times but also serves as a poignant reminder of its tumultuous past, particularly the devastating earthquake in 1963.
This is a cool little museum about the City of Skopje. While at first it appears that it may concentrate largely on the devastating earthquake of 1963, it does delve into the periods BC and AD, before brief texts about the history of Skopje during the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes/Yugoslavia, as well as The Balkan Wars, WWI and II, as well the period of Socialism under Tito. All texts are in Macedonian as well as English, as well as some in Albanian and French. The exhibits are spread across two floors, with the Ancient period on -1, and the modern era on Floor 0. Entrance is completely free. There is a ~14 video (in Macedonian) that shows historical videos from around the time of the earthquake and is worth a watch. The museum will likely take around 2 hours max if reading and viewing all texts and exhibits, and even less if you are just taking a look. The staff are friendly and are there to answer any questions you may have.
Louis — Google review
Interesting place for a wander. Went to learn about the earthquake, but much more there. A few amazing Neolithic pieces, some traditional costumes frescos copies. A little of everything.
Cynthia C — Google review
Really liked this museum. Small exhibitions but good for getting in touch with the city. Not overcrowded. Free entrance. Located in the old railway building that was half destroyed by the 1963 earthquake.
Matej S — Google review
The museum definitely feels lackluster, but the admission is free and there's English explanation for most exhibits, which makes up for it. The building itself is a former railway station that was partly destroyed during Skopje's 1963 earthquake. I loved that they left the partly destroyed part as it is, showing the destruction of the earthquake as it is. Which matches with the main theme of the museum, showcasing the history of Skopje before and after the earthquake. The museum also has another section showing some archeological items, but doesn't provide much explanations. Most of the building is still under renovation so only a small part of it is accessible.
Yuhng Y — Google review
There is 9.12 Saturday. Museum should be open but it isn't. None information on site about that. There is only a notice that museum is close at 3 pm, which is also against mormal time schedule and information here.
Tomasz K — Google review
A free museum dedicated to Skopje’s history. Despite being free, it is far more interesting than the paid museums in the city, with the exception of the one dedicated to Macedonian Independence. A must visit if you are in the city, as the building itself which was damaged during the earthquake and the surrounding area too deserves a visit!
Mustafa K — Google review
The museum is small and simple, with free entrance. It has a few interesting pieces such as an chessboard and some traditional costumes. You can easily visit it in less than an hour — a nice short stop if you’re exploring the city. 🎨🏛️

The Mother Theresa Memorial House in Skopje is a modern museum and memorial dedicated to the life and legacy of the renowned Catholic nun, Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, also known as Mother Teresa. The building's architecture combines contemporary design with traditional elements and features an eclectic design along with a striking modern chapel.
This place is not something great or splendid like other tourist attraction. But that is the life of mother Theresa. It is small and free. It will remind her life. That’s why this place is so meaningful and symbolic.
Mothusi — Google review
The Mother Teresa Memorial House in Skopje was a deeply moving and inspiring place to visit. From the moment I arrived, I was touched by the peaceful atmosphere and the way the building beautifully honored her life and legacy. The architecture itself was striking, blending modern design with a sense of reverence that made the visit feel very special. Inside, I loved exploring the exhibits that showcased her journey, from her early life in Skopje to her incredible humanitarian work around the world. The personal items, photographs, and stories gave me a profound appreciation of her compassion and dedication. Visiting the Mother Teresa House was not only memorable but also uplifting—a true highlight of my time in Skopje.

A beautiful and inspiring place to visit in Skopje! The Mother Teresa Memorial House is free to enter and filled with information, photos, and exhibits about her life and work. It’s very well organized and peaceful, making it easy to learn about her incredible story. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, culture, or just looking for a meaningful stop while exploring the city.

The house of Mother Teresa is a must visit place when you come to Skopje! It’s small and free entrance. There’s a souvenir shop at the first floor and exhibition hall at the second floor. At the third floor, a serene church is there! The entire visiting time is around 10-20 min!
Frank Y — Google review
Nice presentation of her life story both in Macedonia, Ireland and finally India. Her being awarded the Noble Peace Prize. Of her canonisation to her passing. On the way to the small chapel there are photos showing the many famous people she had met from the Reagans to Queen Elizabeth II.

Tribute to one of the biggest woman of 20th century. Who would say she was born in Skopje (of course Wikipedia..)… very nice small house, visit wont take long but gives you the basics about her life you should know. Entrance free, donations possible.

I found out many interesting details about Mother Theresa, especially details related to her early life and prior becoming a missionary, by visiting this memorial house. The entrance is free of charge.

Stepping into the Mother Teresa Memorial, you're immediately struck by its simplicity. It's an ordinary place, yet deeply solemn and humble, radiating the very essence of where love was born, nurtured, and spread across the globe by open and generous hearts.

Paradise Food is a popular vegan restaurant known for its extensive variety of coffee and tea specialties, as well as freshly prepared dishes like delicious seafood menus and various Asian options. Located near the famous Warrior on a Horse statue in Skopje, the restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with classical music and abundant greenery.
Great quality food, lots of choices, and very affordable! Food made with love. I recommend it to everyone, not just vegans! 😊

I can't remember exactly what I ate, but it was superb. Their food looks and tastes amazing. The variety is outstanding. Fresh orange juice and lemonade. Very relaxed atmosphere and clean. They explain every dish if you ask.
Ramsés O — Google review
This restaurant truly lives up to its name: paradise. It was an incredible discovery for us at the beginning of our visit to the city, and we have returned at every opportunity since. For vegans, it's possibly the only restaurant in the city that offers exclusively vegan food. But what sets it apart are the flavors. Despite its unassuming and modest appearance, every dish is a delightful surprise. From cooked meals sold by weight to pastries, pizzas, sandwiches, and desserts, everything is simply delicious without exception. They also sell homemade items, like an exceptionally tasty peanut butter spread. The prices are ridiculously low compared to the value you get. This place isn’t just for vegans like us who want to protect nature; it’s for anyone who appreciates healthy and delicious food. The service is excellent, with friendly, lovely, patient women who speak enough English to describe the dishes and provide necessary explanations. The atmosphere is very pleasant, with ample seating on the upper floor and soothing classical music playing in the background. I wish all restaurants in the world were like this. Thank you for your existence!
Shirley L — Google review
Very calm and nice place! Food was fantastic but I expected it to be a bit cheaper. Paid 350 mkd for this plate and 1 cookie.
Sophia S — Google review
The food is good. Must visit in Skopje if you're vegan. Personally am obsessed with the vegan homemade sausage pizza. They also have nice home cooked meals on a rotating menu throughout the week. Though the taste can vary from time to time. I wish they'd stay more consistent. However the lower rating is because they have gone completely mad with their pricing — a 200+% increase and counting as of now. It's starting to feel like an extortion to the small vegan community we have locally.
Bojo B — Google review
Such delicious, wholesome and healthy food! Favourite place in Skopje. So affordable and the desserts and veg lasagna are to die for. The mash potatoes was to note as well! Service was great and the seating is very nice and vibey. Would have visited much more if it was open!

I love this place. A vegan paradise in land of kababs (as good as they are). Great food also not for vegans, who just want tasty and healthy food. Great deserts and great team of people, who are respectful and patient. Please keep the good prices

Completely empty as I arrived tonight at 5:45 pm. Hot food pretty much sold out. Got a lasagne and a roll with tofu plus the last portion of (cold) soup. Taste was good, but I don't plan to come back. But if I do it will definitely be for lunch. Very affordable compared to Dennark prices.

Mexican restaurant
Amigos Mexican Restaurant & Bar in Skopje offers a vibrant and authentic Mexican dining experience. The colorful interior, adorned with murals and artifacts, sets the stage for a fun and flavorful meal. Despite its location in North Macedonia, Amigos delivers an array of authentic Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, and fajitas accompanied by zesty salsas and refreshing cocktails.
Very delicious food. Service is also great. Ambience is just perfect. We had all vegetarian dishes and they were all awesome. Refer pics for reference. Would love to come again.

Pretty good menu with good dishes, this time the toast goes for the Cobb salad 🥗 which was very delicious. Mango juice lemonade was also a hit. Visit them in the center of Skopje in one of their first locations and enjoy Tex Mex food and bites.
Ivona — Google review
Great Mexican food in the centre of Skopje! We enjoyed our last night here. We shared the fajitas with beef, which were amazing and definitely more than enough for 2! We also had some red wine, which was great too. The waiter that served us was the nicest guy. My boyfriend asked for some lemon for on his fajitas, and he brought us a huge whole lemon, cut in 4. We also had the guacamole which was super good as well. Definitely recommend going here if you’re looking for Mexican cuisine in Skopje.
Noor R — Google review
One of the best restaurants we tried in Skopje. Simple but amazing Mexican food, very fast service, great friendly staff!! And food super delicious. Loved it!!!
Matej S — Google review
Amigos in the Center is a small place with limited space, but unfortunately, that’s one of the few things going for it. We ordered the Nachos Enchiladas—beef and chicken—but they tasted nothing like authentic Mexican food. Both were severely lacking in flavor and definitely overpriced for what we got, rating about 1.5 out of 5 each. The chocolate frita was also disappointing; it looked nothing like the photo in their advertisement and was extremely hard and overly sugary. The churros didn’t impress either. The service was another low point. We waited 50 minutes for the nachos, and when my girlfriend politely asked the waitress about the delay, she responded with a rude, irritating attitude, saying “I will tell you now where it is” in a very unpleasant tone. Despite the small size of the restaurant, when we tried to order a second round of drinks, no one was available to take our order, and we ended up waiting about 15 minutes just to pay. Throughout the meal, the waitress was consistently unprofessional, slamming food down on the table and being generally disrespectful. Given the price and quality, the experience was more than disappointing—especially having to wait so long and deal with impolite staff.
Simon K — Google review
Love this Mexican restaurant! Really good food, nice staff and a great spot! Also the prices were nice. We ate the nacho’s, they were perfect. This is how nachos should be. And we had the nacho enchiladas with grilled veggies. Good taste, lot of chicken and cheese🤩. We would like to take this place at home😁.

If youre looking for good food with caring staff and a warm environment then this place is for you. Kiko was amazing, super friendly and helpful. It's Thursday and they had the gourmet burger in the grill today and I'm not exaggerating but it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Amazing place. I would come back if I wasn't going to Ohrid tomorrow. Would highly recommend!

Nestled in the heart of Kapishtec, Fish Restaurant is a charming establishment that boasts a rich history dating back to 1836, making it the oldest traditional house still operating as an authentic Macedonian eatery. This delightful venue offers a lovely garden terrace perfect for summer dining amidst lush greenery. Guests rave about the delectable veal stew, which features tender meat and pairs beautifully with their unique garlic dip—an experience not to be missed!
Quest for the Best Veal Stew in Skopje 4.0 📍 Venue: Fish Restaurant 📍 Location: Kapishtec ⭐ Score: 9.3/10 The Experience The veal stew at Fish was rich, with slow-cooked, tender meat, coming very close to the one at Idadija. The only thing lacking would be warm grilled bread. Other than that I would personally rate this stew as number one A big bonus is that Fish restaurant offers garlic dip/spread which pairs exceptionally well with the stew - not found anywhere else. Current Leaderboard (as of 11/02/2025): Idadija – 9.4 Fish Restaurant 9.3 Loznica – 9.1 Dukat – 8.7 Nacional – 6.5 Despite its name, Fish Restaurant takes the second spot in the rankings, just behind Idadija but ahead of Loznica. A wonderful open air terrace under the trees. Fish soup and grilled squids are definitely recommended. Risotto was undercooked and the rice was hard

Good fish restaurant located within the premises of the "Aristocrat Hotel". Nothing fancy inside, but nice garden in the summer. A curiosity: the building used to host the EU Police Mission "Proxima" in 2004-2006!

Ok, food: good calamari, so-so pasta. Food came fast. The server was rough, not nice, and not trying to be helpful. He overcharged me for water and played dumb when I confronted him. Ambiance is of a business lunch place.
