(Translated by Google) Okinawa soba in the forest.
Shiki no Iro (Colors of the Seasons) set meal, 1,800 yen.
Even entering the restaurant is exciting.
It's only a few steps from the parking lot to the restaurant, but those few steps are enjoyable.
The garden is filled with bonsai plants typical of Okinawa, and as you walk through them, you cross a bridge over a small reservoir to enter the restaurant. My excitement is building.
The view of the green mountains from the restaurant is stunning. The interior, which makes use of the old building's design, is also tasteful.
The dish I ordered
The rice was multigrain rice. The sweetness gradually came out as I chewed it.
The seaweed salad was...well, average. I don't really remember. 💦
Okinawa soba has a strong bonito broth, and the noodles are firm and delicious. But it's plain soba. Just noodles.
I wonder if the bitter melon with white dressing is seasoned with sesame dressing? The bitter melon's bitterness was subdued, and I really liked the seasoning. Next to it was cartilage pork ribs. The softly simmered cartilage pork ribs are incredibly delicious with a sweet and salty seasoning. Since it's not served on soba noodles, it's plain soba noodles.
The translucent thing next to it looks like winter melon, but it's actually stewed papaya. It tastes like winter melon when you eat it, but it has an interesting texture even when boiled. It also goes well with Japanese dashi seasoning. This was my first time eating it like this. The pumpkin is just a regular stew. The pink thing is just a regular pickle. You might miss it if you don't look closely, but there's an orange thing on top of the bitter melon with white dressing that looks like stewed peppers. However, this is apparently pickled kuanso (sweet and sour plant). Kuanso is also known as sleeping grass, and is said to have a soothing effect. The mild, sweet and sour seasoning went well with it, and even though it was just a palate cleanser, it was so delicious I wanted to eat a lot.
The last thing with a small spoon is atemoya. It's forest ice cream. It's a rare food, but Okinawa harvests more of it than other prefectures, so you might have a chance to try it. It has a subtle fruity sweetness. It's a delicious fruit that's easy to eat, with no strong aroma or flavor.
There are so many unique items, it's fun to eat them.
The chiffon cake that came with the set was pretty ordinary, but the jelly in the foreground is acerola flavored and apparently homemade. This jelly is small but delicious. It looks like a mass-produced product, but don't underestimate it.
The juice was also delicious, with the sweetness and tartness of the fruit coming through directly.
The taste and appearance were great, but for men, it might not be satisfying enough.
That's probably my only complaint.
Other than that, it was great.
