This piece of island is simply stunning. Upon reaching the island, you’ll be greeted by the carefree and beautiful deers that reside there. We had the good fortune of arriving earlier, so the crowd wasn’t there. We made the ascent, which takes around 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness level. However, there are stops along the way with breathtaking views and photo opportunities. But the best part comes when you reach the summit. You’ll be glad you made it here, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The crystal-clear waters along the curved shoreline, the waves crashing against the rocks, and the entire backdrop are too magnificent to be described in words. We spent a few minutes enjoying the peace and quiet before the place started to fill up with people. Luckily, we got what we needed. 😊
It was a significant hike if 815 steps but the breathtaking view makes it totally worth it! Wear sneakers instead of slippers and bring your water coz you will sweat. Not recommended for unfit aged persons
Padar Island is one of the most famous and photographed destinations within **Komodo National Park** in Indonesia, renowned for its incredible panoramic views. 1. Iconic Viewpoint and Beaches The Famous View: The main draw is the relatively short, but steep, hike to the island's summit. From the top, you get a breathtaking 360-degree vista of the rugged, savannah-covered island and its three crescent-shaped bays. Tri-Colored Beaches: What makes the view unique is that the three bays visible from the top each have a beach with a different colored sand: White Sand,Black Sand(volcanic in origin),Pink Sand (due to pulverized red coral mixing with the white sand, similar to the famous Pink Beach nearby) 2. Location and Access Location:Padar is the third-largest island in Komodo National Park, situated between Komodo Island and Rinca Island in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Access:The island is uninhabited and is visited primarily by boat tours. Starting Point:The gateway to the park, and Padar Island, is Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores. Travel Time: A boat trip from Labuan Bajo to Padar Island typically takes about 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the type of boat (speed boat is faster). Tour Options:Most visitors take a day trip or are on a multi-day liveaboard tour that includes Padar, Komodo, Rinca, and Manta Point. 3. Hiking and Activities The Hike:The trek to the viewpoint is generally considered moderately challenging due to the steep incline, but it's short, usually taking 30-45 minutes to reach the top. The trail now features a mix of wooden stairs, stone steps, and dirt path sections. Best Time to Hike: To avoid the intense heat, most tours aim for a sunrise or late afternoon/sunset hike for the best golden light for photography. Other Activities:Visitors can also swim, relax on the different colored beaches, or enjoy snorkeling/diving in the surrounding clear waters, which are known for rich marine life. 4. Important Note No Komodo Dragons:While the island is part of Komodo National Park, Padar Island is largely free of the famous Komodo dragons (though historically they were present). For dragon sightings, you will need to visit the neighboring Komodo Island or Rinca Island with a park ranger.
Padar Island is a rugged, volcanic island in Komodo National Park, Indonesia, known for its stunning panoramic views, diverse beaches, and dramatic landscapes. Visitors hike to the summit for iconic viewpoints and can find beaches with white, black, and even pink sand on a single island. The best time to visit depends on weather and crowd preferences, with a peak season from June to August and a shoulder season from April to May or September to October
Padar is usually the first stop on the fastboat daytrip itinerary and is definitely a jawdropping experience. Right off the jetty you will be greeted with a series of steep wooden stairs, leading to stone steps, and further up to dirt steps carved into the hillside. We arrived at 8.30 am and there was already a steady stream of people making their way uphill. With over 800 steps to the top, this trek is not for the easily fatigued. Bring enough water, a hat, and proper footwear - it gets hot really fast even before 9am. The views get increasingly more stunning the higher up you go. The iconic viewpoint with the three bays is usually pretty crowded and you might need to get in line for photos. We spent so long near the top that it was a mad scramble back down to the jetty to catch our boat to the next destination!
Arrive here at arround 8 AM and already packed up with tourist, recommend to go here at low season so it does not get to crowded when you arrive at the top, the views from the top viewpoint are incredible and really worth with the hike with many steps. The beach is also very beautiful
The morning at Padar Island felt like stepping into a dream. As the first light began to touch the sky, the soft hues of orange and pink painted the hills and sea in the most magical way. The air was cool and gentle, carrying the faint sound of birds chirping from somewhere between the cliffs a natural melody that made the whole island feel alive 🏝️ Climbing up to the viewpoint before sunrise was a bit challenging, but every step felt worth it once I reached the top. Standing there, watching the sun slowly rise over the three curved bays, I felt this quiet sense of awe. The view was beyond words layers of golden light kissing the ocean, calm waves shimmering, and the soft rustle of morning wind brushing through the grass. If you ever visit, come early. Listen to the birds, watch the sky change colors, and let the beauty of the island fill your heart. It’s not just beautiful it’s legendary. 🌅
Padar Island is actually insane. The hike is lowkey a workout but the view at the top is just breath taking and genuinely worth every single step. The layered hills and different coloured waters look unreal, like straight out of a wallpaper or drone edit. The scenery is so aesthetic it does not feel real at all. If you are into nature, photos, or just chasing main character moments, this place delivers. Pure vibes, pure beauty, 10/10 must visit if you are anywhere near Komodo.

The place is absolutely beautiful. The beaches are just perfect for snorkeling. Lots of variety of fishes with multiple colors, and if you are lucky you will see turtles, rays, and sharks. The snorkeling area is large, but not deep, perfect for first-time snorkeling. But if you came during the high tide, you can enjoy some of the deeper water snorkeling too. The areas near the jetty is also consistently deep, with different snorkeling experience than the shallower waters. Best time to snorkels are in the early morning, before all the passenger ships coming in. Beach is clean, and the sands are good. Best time to enjoy is near sunset time, as the views are beautiful indeed. The resort is definitely not 5 star, but that is expected because the place is on a remote island which are not connected to any utilities on the mainland, thus everything is more simple. Electricity may not be available 24 hours, but during the night it will work. Fresh water usage is limited, due to it have to be resupplied from the mainland. The food is excellent, though the price is a bit high, but fair considering the situation. The resort does not look to good, but the main attraction is the beach, not the resort. To enjoy the beach, lots of chairs and lazy chairs are provided. The staffs are all friendly, and all nice. Really nice place!
This resort does not exist any more. Just ruins, debris and garbages left. The wooden pier is ok. Place nice for snorkling. Under a condition that you accept plastic wastes floating around and sinking to the corals and seaweeds.
We came here after a full day of private boating around several islands. The access is easy, but this place is crowded as most boat tours end their trips at this location, offering snorkeling around the coral reefs here. Unfortunately, this means that the location is very crowded. In fact, it’s so crowded that it is hard to get in the water where the boats dock. Our captain insisted that we get in at the pier, because the reef supposedly was better there, but we went to the beach and got into the water there instead. This proved to be much better. We snorkeled from there to the end of the pier, where there is a drop-off and not much of a coral reef. In fact, there were much better coral reefs further east and along the beach - opposite to what our captain said and where all the tourists were snorkeling. We saw an abundance of fish, several mantas, starfish, sea urchins, and there was very little trash in the water. None of the tourists at the pier, at least whom we asked, saw anything like that. Also, at the pier, people bring bread and other things for the fish, a practice we find simply appalling. Lastly, the beach is extremely dirty with plastic trash everywhere. We recommend NOT stopping at this location but another location for snorkeling, for instance the pink beach, which had far better visibility and is less polluted.
Snorkelling experience was good, but beware of shallow waters and coral as one can get hurt if not careful. Further away from the beach is better and safer. Overall, good experience but there are better snorkelling spots and beaches in the area
Well actually i were in Kanawa Island for some holiday things. Brought my group and for enjoying the sunset and snorkeling . The problem is this place quiet hectic in high season period. And so many many many tourist do the same things. And beside that, in this island also not well managed, since there is many plastic on the beach. i hope they gonna improving this island as well. it's just too pity for me. but overall, at least i keep enjoy the 'differences'.
Nice island. Good spot for snorkeling. Good view. The resort is not so quite neat indeed. Nice beach with heavy and rough sands. I think there is no air conditioner in the room (I don't stay here, just observe the resort from outside). A little bit messy with a lot of falling leaves and tweaks. If you looking for good spot for snorkeling or playing in the beach without not so much considering about facilities/accomodation, I think this resort is a good choice.
From the ship we reached this island by boat. climbed the overgrown road up and someone was even bitten by mosquitoes. I advise you to wear comfortable shoes, as the road is not the best. When we got up, we found cool stones at the top, on which we met the dawn. From this place you can see the fishermen and the sound of the boat motor. But the view that opens up to the beauty is the best thing about it. The island is almost deserted now as there are no tourists. the perfect place to meet the sunset in one with nature.
Beautiful place with a wonderful snorkeling experience. The beach has a fine white sand. And you better start snorkeling from the dock than the beach.. If you are a good swimmer you can try to swim a little bit faaaarrrr away from the dock and enjoy the best view from this place 😘

I am so happy to finally make it to Komodo National Park! I have been looking forward to this trip for years, I only wish we could have spent more time adventuring the island. The guides were knowledgeable, kind and spoke English. They helped everyone to learn about and safely get pictures with the world's largest lizard. They made sure we were safe and did a great job of answering everyone's questions. We were only at the park for about an hour, but had time to walk a short trail, about 1 mile, get photos with the dragons and shop for souvenirs. I would recommend this to anyone that love lizards and wants to spend a little time hiking off the beach.
I had an incredible experience on Rinca Island observing the Komodo dragons! The scenery was stunning, and the guided tour provided a wealth of information. The guides were not only knowledgeable but also exceptionally kind, ensuring everyone gained insights about the world’s largest lizard. The tour at the park takes around an hour, and consists of a short walking trail of about a mile, and you can capture some fantastic photos with the dragons.
Amazing Indonesia National Park on the island of Rinca. They start by sharing there are no guarantees of actually seeing the Komodo dragons. On the day we went ....over 1 dozen. Fascinating. The naturalists/guides do an excellent job. You are safe as you stay on raised boardwalk to look for the dragons!
The optimal location for Komodo dragon viewing offers minimal tourist congestion and exceptional ranger engagement, making the boat trip a worthwhile endeavor.
Excellent guides. Good english, provided good explanations, and helped with photos. Saw many Komodo dragons (some adults, juveniles, and babies) we also saw a ton of monkeys and a few deer Facilities are decent, they get the job done. Some shops if you want to buy a souvenir or a drink
Great morning out at the Komodo National Park visitor area with boardwalks taking you across the terrain that’s roamed by the Komodo Dragons and various other wildlife like buffalo, boar and monkeys. Rangers are super knowledgeable
It was great. We saw monkeys and 5 or 6 Dragons. The guides were very knowledgeable and were able to answer our questions. Their English was very good. The guides were also excellent photographers!

Lovely Tour! **Bring your own torch if you can** We visited this Cave through a tour organised by 'Seek Sophie'. Once there we were met by a lovely local guide who took us through the greenery (with the occasional monkeys) to the Cave and explained all the fossils and history behind this area. He kindly gave us some helmets that came with torches, but they weren't very bright, so luckily we had our own. Once equipped you'll duck crawl through some right spots to see an ancient fossilized turtle, beautiful caves and what are the most humongous crickets I've ever seen! It was great to experience the non-aquatic sights of Komodo. We enjoyed it!
Not too bad for a cave visit. Won't take more than an hour to complete. We had a guide along which he brought along a LED torchlight. A certain part of the cave where you need to wear helmet. You need to squat and crawl into it for a part of the cave. We had the sun ray shining into the cave at a point. The guide was superb where he took many photos and videos for us without complaining. The mushroom rock is just a pitstop for photo.
I went there in the afternoon before my flight to the airport. For only IDR 70k, I got an entrance ticket and a guide for the cave. They said that outside the cave, there’s a snake habitat, and some locals have formed a community that hunts them at night. The cave itself is dry and easy to explore for visitors. It's best to come around midday when the sunlight reflects beautifully inside the cave
Beautiful place, not overly big bit makes for a great day out. Bring a flashlight or use your phone. If you have trouble walking or knee issues you may want to skip this. There are snakes. Just saying.
Nice place. I recommend this place. Just be sure to visit at midday or a little bit later when it's sunny to be able to see the beauty of the cave inside with the reflection of the sun. The guys who works there as guides were friendly 💯
An easily accessible and interesting cave with a cool fossilized turtle inside. Entrance for foreingers was Rp 50k. It's definitely worth visiting while you're in Labuan Bajo.
Surprisingly fun!! I actually considered not going here because the pictures looked quite average, but definitely worth a trip! It's quite a short tour (30-45m). I most enjoyed entering the cave with a helmet (which was essential as there were many spots to knock your head). It was quite the mini adventure.
The cave it self is okay and good to see (but nothing special) for 30 - 60 minutes depending on how long you want to be there taking pictures. The guide is not needed, it is easy to find the cave as there is a clear road to it. Guides are lying and making a story about a fossil of the turtle, which is more a mimic of it, but not real. They can’t not name an approximate age of it, and you can clearly see the same structure of the rocks around a pseudo-fossil (a geological formation done by water and orange colour bacteria). Plus they could not show a scientific proof of it being a fossil:) so getting a guide is a scam.

At the time of writing (April 2025), there was a visitor entrance fee of Rp30k per local and Rp70k for foreigners, and an additional Rp50k for a guide. A small contribution for maintaining the walkways, a couple of bridges and general cleanliness of the area. The 10-15 minute walk down to the falls was fairly easy and the reward was being able to swim in the refreshing river, which you can climb down to with caution or if you are feeling adventurous, you can choose to jump in from 5-7meters and/or 12-15meters. I wish we had planned better and brought a large blanket and a little picnic, as there were nice areas to hang out for a few hours. Have a fresh coconut after a good heart thumping climb back to the parking lot and make sure you leave a little tip for your guide.
It was worth the trek with a local guide along a set path with steps and 2 bridges. It was mostly downhill which means your return will be uphill. Great scenery, nature at its best. Recommend comfortable walking shoes. Only 1 little shop at the end where you get a drink while relaxing on the rocks. On this visit the water increased and so did the river which rose above the lower rocks. The 2 rope bridges were safe to cross. Just be carefully if you visit under these conditions. Overall it was worth the experience. Don't forget to tip the guide 😁
Seems like variable pricing is involved here, we paid 194k for two adults (kids are free) and a mandatory guide. The hike is straightforward though and a quick walk to the waterfall which is behind a canyon so it's probably better if you are able to swim closer to the falls, else it is only viewable from its side atop its rocky side. It's a nice waterfall, but amongst all choices in Indonesia, this is an okay waterfall (though probably only of the best around Labuan Bajo).
It's a lovely waterfall - but if you follow this spot on Google maps, you'll be taking a 20minute unmarked walk through the jungle to get there. You might be better off putting the main gate as your destination and paying the guide fee! We enjoyed the waterfall, but due to following this Google maps location ended up taking a very gravelly road and a long jungle walk to get there. If that's your thing, drive here. If not, stop at the ticket sign!
If you like adventure and nature, this is a good activity to do if you have a half-day to spare in Labuan Bajo. You will need approximately 1 hour for the drive, followed by a 20-minute walk down to the stunning waterfalls. Spend an hour relaxing and swimming in this beautiful spot, then prepare for a 35-minute trek back up the hill. While it is not a leisurely outing, it promises excitement and a true adventure. The waterfall and surrounding rainforest are beautiful, making the trek worthwhile. Expect a rewarding experience as you hike through this incredible landscape. A ranger guide will accompany you (you have to pay a small entrance and guide fee), ensuring you get the most out of your visit. BTW, I combined this visit with another beautiful nearby waterfall called Cunca Plias.
Nice waterfall with 2 places to jump: 3 and 7 meters. It's nice to swim there. You can stay as long as you want until 17h where closes. You have to pay 70k/person and 50k for the ranger (one ranger per group), so we were 2 people and we paid 190k. The ranger goes with you until the waterfall and waits for you to get you back. There is a bar close to the waterfall. The ranger is not needed, it is another scam of the indonesian goverment, they pretend the place is dangerous because it is slippery... It's true that it is expensive for indonesia, and the guide is not needed at all. Go if you have nothing more to do because it is nice to take a bath on the water, but the trip time by scooter and the price doesn't worth it
Such a cool waterfall!! Lots of jump spots and the water is so welcoming. We had to pay 190k for 2 people (see attached photo). Well worth the visit though, we spent a while here playing in the water 🙂 you can access the top of the waterfall as well.
Amazing spot to soak in the cool water and jump off rocks. Not super busy. They’re adamant you have to get a guide as well as paying a ticket price. They’ll flag you down in the town and lead the way.

What a beautiful place 😍 you need to be careful when hike up to the summit. It's not too high, but the path is slippery because the track contains gravel and sand. Don't forget to use sunscreen and wearing hat to protect your body and head. Bring plenty of water too. You'll be thirsty after have a little trekking
A Beautiful small Island that is good for short hill trekking and snorkelling. Points to remember is the hill climb and down climb are quite difficult so not really recommended for solo traveller that has physical difficulties. Guide that can help are really recommended. Also, for the snorkelling on the beautiful beach, as the sea clearance between the beach and the sea corals are very close by, you can see the small fishes that lives in the small ecosystems. Please be carefull not to destroy them as you enjoy the beautiful sea view.
Breathtaking views through challenging hiking for the amateur hiker. Prepare a hiking pole since the rocky terrain can be steep, especially going downhill. The shades of blue you get to see is spectacular.
The scenic view from the hill top is stunning, it is a must for you to reach the top, but u should be reallly careful due to the steepness. It is only for adults, not for children or elderly. The beach is very clear and has few area with corals, but it's not as good as some other islands. Nevertheless the beach is good for children.
Beautiful beach, amazing view from the top of the island. Snorkeling is good too. Not far from Labuan Bajo, a good place to stop on the way to Rinca. The hike to the top is a bit steep but easy.
Stunning place, slept on the beach overnight in a tent. The only thing I found bad about it was the amount of tourists that go there during the day and some of the boats just come right onto the beach which can't be good for the coral. There is a very nice view from the top though.
Cute small island with two side oriented beach, natural shelter under the trees, partially preserved coral reef. It is great if there are not too many boats.
This is AWESOME! A HEAVEN ON EARTH. This is not so easy to climb up the hill but worth doing. Actually you can only diving but climbing to the top will get a spectacular view like never seen before
