It was very crowded as Easter and Christmas' get, but the hospitality was very good. We have attended masses since and although there are less people, the clergy, parishioners and laity have been very welcoming and you feel genuine warmth and acceptance. The music has been very worshipful and the homilies have been spot on. It's nice to know that we have a new pastor so that we won't seem so new to him. LoL. Beautiful church with a great physical presence. You can see everyone in the church in the round a bout design. Wonderful aspects of the church include great visibility of the stations of the Cross as well as beautiful sanctuary that gives great focus to who we are as Christians. We were a bit discouraged after trying so many. We were greeted as soon as you pull in to the property. We were greeted by amazing staff in the parking lot and also walking through the doors. The warm welcome made us feel as if they were genuinely excited to have us there! The worship group is incredible. Pastor Daniel really does have an anointed gift from God. His sermons are phenomenal. What really drew us in was seeing the series are more scripture based. I also appreciate how he is able to put it in context very well. The MSC app allows you to follow along and make notes throughout the sermon, which I really enjoy. We have been going for about 5 months now, and our whole family gets so excited to go. Military family here: I moved downtown to some new apartments in Southeastcentral after being a memeber who lived close by for about 12 months. I say that to say this; I pass dozens of churches on the way now and I STILL could NEVER. The intellectual aspect of their Bible study is top notch. As an intellectual, words matter deeply to me and the pastors intelligence just in the science of linguistics and the concept of language alone makes the journey worth it; Let alone is vast knowledge of the word of GOD and the experiences he was/is witness of.. They are conservative to the new testament and pay respects to the old testament. They touch on REAL topics we NEED to think about not easy feel-good-all-the-time or we are all condemned may there be mercy on all our souls. The pastor is very down to earth and is completely relatable. He has a bit of a dark humor which gives laughter to hard topics. He doesn't bend his personality to a group, he maintains authenticity; He's human too! He is internationally cultured and I love that about him. The shear volume of members he interacts with weekly is far beyond what a normal person could handle with a family! He's very inspirational as he walks the talk. They follow the word of Jesus Christ and apply the New Testament to all of their humanitarian efforts. They share their stories. They have guest speakers frequently with fresh perspectives. I know when I tithe to this church its cared for and brings impact to the community. The building itself is maintained well. Their generosity, their kindness, their ability to meet you where you are in this collective journey towards living as Christ lived are all why I go here. They care about their space, the children, the members, the city, and collectively all souls tbh but above all- they care deeply about the accurate translation of Gods word. May GOD continue to bless this church and those who show up everyday to make this church what it is now...

We have so many opportunities for people to join in on our community and Fr. John and the rest of us have worked hard to maintain and build our community. From small groups who meet twice a month, Life in the Spirit seminars, spiritual groups including one for Men, bible studies, religious education, a feast day festival that is happening in August with games, food, craft fairs, popcorn, St. Dominic's is a vibrant, devout, parish. We just had 96 newly confirmed people in the church. This does not take into account all the baptisms, weddings, first confessions, first communions. We have suffered a huge loss when our pastor, Fr. Bill died and but we are still strong, still faithful, still family, and always solidly Roman Catholic. I'm sorry that the other reviewer has left our parish and I want them to know that you will always be welcome back home with us anytime you like.

The worship is great and the people are sweet… my teens enjoyed their service as well which happened to be a more simple version of what ours service was about. I was invited last year to Thanksgiving by someone there, even given their number to keep in contact with the details. I said, i guess a little louder than i should have, "thank you, i needed to come to a REAL church service today!" cause the lady that sat in front of me turned kinda shocked, and said, kinda softly, well you're definitely in the right place. music started, and I was ALMOST IN TEARS!! i am by FAAAR an emotional person, however, i said softly, NOW THIS is what im TALKING about!! and my neighbors just looked and smiled. that MUSIC!! i havent heard it quite like that in over 20 years!! it was TRULY like an angelic choir, AND THEY WERE ALL ON KEY, in tune. i have to stop right here and explain, i am a musician. have been for over 40 years. ive been to them all. Mens retreats, conventions, general conferences, youth camps. so i know a thing or 2 about music. BASIC FUNDAMENTAL is that music ministry is SO VERY IMPERATIVE, CRUCIAL AND VITAL! I dont want to say, has to be PERFECT! but this SETS THE VERY FOUNDATION for the service. Bible teaches, as well as look in our history, it was the musicians that went out prior to battle. civil war you see depictions of the drummer with bandaged arms and leg, and a flute player with a bandage head band. tattered/torn battle uniforms. anyhoo, that song service was absolutely PERFECT!! and YOU CAN TELL! when its a PERFORMANCE, and what its HOLY GHOST led. this was HOLY GHOST led!! it has been a VERY LONG time that i have been moved by, "just a music service." cause NOBODY has it together, TRUST ME! i have been to MANY churches in this town. they normally play CD's, or have youtube videos...COME ON! i can do that at HOME! this was REAL people, playing REAL instruments, singing REAL voices. it was truly an amazing experience. ALL THIS, AND THE PREACHER GUY HAD NOT EVEN TAKE THE PULPIT!! so we get to presentations. the hands of praise did bring me to tears, just didnt have the, "umph" to roll down my cheeks. I have to explain. I have a loved one, that does not affiliate/go to any church. she is a single mother, and i do what i can to help her and her 2 year old daughter. she has to work 7 days a week, cause, well obvious circumstances. anyhoo, she is a licensed, certified American Sign Language interpreter. its her PASSION!! so when they presented their presentation, i was DEEPLY moved, and could easily see her up there. nothing more driving than wanting to take your loved ones to Heaven. DEEPLY moving!! then the drama team made their presentation. absolutely amazing! it was NOT OVER done, it was clear, to the point. EXCELLENT acting/performance. very well presented. then it was time for my favorite part, like a kid waiting for the desert at Golden Corral!! the PREACHER GUY!! this is what i base every service on. not to be judgmental, but this after all is the most important part of ANY service. this is a MESSAGE from GOD! i have seen FAR TOO MANY FAKES, and abusers of the preaching ministry, it should be a crime. this guy got up there, and was AMAZING!! Pastor Turpin is: Real! Genuine! DOWN TO EARTH!! doesnt use 37 dollar words to preach, what should be a simple sermon!

Also they blast the organ over it so I guess it drowns out how droll everyone is... But they seem to have a lot of community building stuff so thats a positive. And unlike all of the other churches and *religions* that are out there they dont go on about tithing or offerings... you know they aren't there for God or Jesus if half of the time is spent trying to persuade people to give the church more money...

The Wed dinner and Acts class is so nicely done. The fellowship donut coffee get together between services could greatly be improved. I brought this up and they pointed to a Hispanic teachers aide and said, well she speaks Spanish. children are not being supervised appropriately as candy was being easily shared on the playground even though their are allergies that could be triggered. parents are required to bring snacks for the entire class they are in. this means you really don't know if it's safe or not. when a child brings their own snack, parents are reprimanded at pick up time. you are charged 1.00 for every minute you are late. they do not make accomodations for people with disabilities. the director is at Dr appointments instead of directing the school. they don't have a kind or humble way of handling those they feel are beneath their high and mighty self when concerns are brought to them. concerns are taken very personally verses addressing them. Gaslighting is extremely prevalent. Please do not mistake this preschool for one of quality or a desire to see children excel. they're making a paycheck and it shows.

The music though is not everyone’s taste. But there are many gifted people there. There are Sunday schools. I’ve been involved in a few of these. You will find some led from a Calvinist perspective and others from an Arminian semi pelagian perspective. I’ve had some good lessons from a few of the teachers. These are meant to replace small groups but they do not promote the personal and intimate relationships. Some of the teachers I believe are not qualified to teach. In my four years I’ve had friends come and go. But in all honesty it’s not easy to build community in this church. I have tried to get involved but unless you are in one of the clicks you never will be. I’m not from America. So I have a different cultural perspective and I find this is not welcomed, even though it’s claimed it is. There are people that are sensitive and offended way too easily, they appear too focused on their recognition and fame and I see a lack of integrity. What many of them say, is superficial and you just have to realize you can’t take what many members say seriously. Some just don’t mean what they say.
