Two shows: 1000 and 1400. Ticket issuance begins an hour prior. We went to the 1400 show. Arrived at 1320 and bought tickets at 1350 ( long queue). Bring a towel on a warm day, not a single fan while you wait in a long queue. Tried purchasing tickets for Saturday on the previous day (Friday) but it wasn’t possible. The show started 20 mins late for which they apologized. Informative and they also explained what stars and how to identify them on the night sky (same night of the show). It was in Sinhala 100%. Uncomfortable chairs. If you have neck/back conditions/injuries, please avoid going. Best seats are to your right, as you enter, under the projector. The temperature inside was comfortable (not warm nor too cold). Hopefully, the planetarium will revamp their ticket issuing system and also introduce a method to purchase it from their website (which was also not operational on 21-Nov-2025).

It's awesome that the general public is given the chance to enjoy this place on Saturdays. It is best to give them a call the day before and confirm that there will be a show and it is recommended to reach there by around 8.45 am to stay in the queue to buy tickets. The show starts at 10 am but the place gets all crowded and the tickets are issued at first come first serve basis. Inside the theatre, it is best if you get seated at the North side. However these sides are not indicated when you go in there first. From the entrance to your right side would be the North and that's the best place to sit since most of the movie is displayed at the South of the screen. Unlike the good old days when we visited the Planetarium from school, they have improved a lot now and the picture quality is also very good with the sounds as well. Overall, the experience was really nice and they have areas for kids to play and to take pictures as well.
