If someone asks me about my favorite mall in Sri Lanka, it’s still Majestic City. This place still carries that classic 2000s vibe, and I love wandering around alone, just taking it all in. Even the air freshener has a unique smell that adds to the nostalgia. Not sure why I forgot to leave a review before! That being said, try to avoid most outlets in the food court. A lot of the food isn’t great both in taste and quality. Some sellers even show one thing and serve something completely different.

Majestic City (MC) is currently under renovation, so some areas are not fully open. However, the food court is still functioning well. I hope that after the renovation, MC will regain its place among the top shopping malls once again. Looking forward to seeing the new improvements!

With a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and a popular cinema, it’s perfect for a day of shopping, dining, or simply relaxing with friends and family. The mall is well-maintained, conveniently located, and offers something for everyone—from local boutiques to international brands. Majestic City remains one of Colombo’s most beloved and enduring shopping destinations.

Majestic City is a special shopping mall in every Sri Lankan’s heart. 🇱🇰❤️ It’s been around for ages and has always been the go-to place for the younger generation to chill out. The mall has many stores ranging from fashion, mobiles, toys and equipment. The mall even has a KFC and a Pizza Hut for hungry shoppers. The sub floor has a food court with food stalls offering a variety of dishes such as Indian, Thai, Chinese, Sri Lankan and more. The mall also has an entertainment area with video games, virtual reality games and arcade games for people of all ages. Majestic City has stood the test of time and will always be an iconic place in Colombo.

Majestic City is a classic Colombo shopping destination with a bit of everything under one roof. Fashion stores, electronics, a food court, and a cinema. It’s convenient for quick errands or a casual day out. The mall is clean and well-maintained, though it can get crowded during weekends. Parking is straightforward and the location is easy to reach by public transport. A reliable spot for shopping or catching a movie.

Very nice Christmas decorations in MC. I always go to their food court. Affordable prices. Love it. They have a game area where you can play car games, mortal combat and etc. It's a shopping mall with a cinema too.
Dinithi S — Google review
I recently had a day out at Majestic City, and it was such a cool experience. This place has a vibe that's just right for us younger folks. I was amazed by the variety of shops – from trendy clothes to the latest gadgets, they've got everything. It's like a one-stop shop for everything fashionable. The food court is a real highlight. Whether you're craving a quick snack or a sit-down meal, there's plenty to choose from. I had some amazing local dishes there, and the prices were reasonable, too. One thing I love about Majestic City is the bustling atmosphere. It's not just about shopping; people are there to meet up, hang out, and enjoy the day. Plus, it's super easy to get around the mall, and the staff are friendly and helpful. In short, Majestic City is more than just a shopping centre. It's a great place to catch up with friends, try new foods, and, of course, update your wardrobe. Every visit has something unique to offer, and I can't wait for my next trip there.

Shopping mall
Liberty Plaza is a well-known multi-level mall in Colombo, offering a variety of familiar apparel and accessories brands as well as casual dining options. Along with other historic shopping malls like Crescat Boulevard, Majestic City, and Unity Plaza, Liberty Plaza is a must-visit for those interested in exploring some of Sri Lanka's oldest brands known for their quality products.
Liberty Plaza in Colombo is one of the city’s oldest shopping malls and still remains a convenient spot for shopping and services. It offers a variety of stores—from clothing, electronics, and accessories to salons, mobile shops, and bookshops. The mall also features government service counters, banking facilities, and a decent food court, making it practical for quick errands or casual visits. While it may not be as modern or flashy as newer malls, it’s clean, secure, and centrally located. Some areas feel a bit outdated, but overall, Liberty Plaza is a reliable and accessible destination for everyday shopping and services.
Umasuthan S — Google review
Liberty Plaza has always been known as the spot for electronics. Phones, accessories, random cables, anything tech-related, this is probably where you start. And I agree with that, 100 percent. Most of the online sellers get their stuff from here anyway. There are shops you have to be careful about, but there are also plenty that you can actually trust. Now, here’s the issue. Apart from the shops, there’s really nothing going on. The place is not maintained. No proper cleaning, no effort to make it feel welcoming, and there’s always some kind of construction happening. Every single time I go there, something’s being drilled, fixed, painted or half-built. It’s been going on for years and it never looks like it’s getting done. The escalators are a gamble. Sometimes they work, sometimes you’re climbing them like stairs and pretending that’s normal. It’s exhausting. And the place just doesn’t feel safe. Not saying it isn’t safe, but the vibe is very off. The shops themselves are good, but they all look the same. There's no character, no uniqueness, just one glass-fronted tech box after another. It all blends in. So yeah, pretty disappointing overall. The shops are the only thing carrying the whole place, and even they deserve a better space than this. But I guess this is what we’ve got.
ShawnthePaul — Google review
Excellent place to get electronic devices All in one place with a wide range of options But the pricing is high. So u need to be careful. Go to a few shops and check the price difference, and then make a purchase.

Manish J — Google review
All kind of mobile phones, accessories can buy here even used phone available for re-sell but be careful there are fake accessories too..... Commercial bank branch, Peoples Bank branch and Mobitel arcade also have....
Akila A — Google review
If you’re buying a device here, make sure to walk around and check at least 10 shops before deciding. Often, the first few shops you visit will have better prices compared to others, and small independent shops usually sell for less than the reputed stores. Before buying, always ask about the warranty. Some shops may offer lower prices but only give a 6-month warranty, no warranty at all, or exclude important parts like the display or battery. Be clear about their terms and conditions first — if you’re okay with it, then proceed. Also, in some cases, the device price may be cheap but the accessories are very expensive. So, check the total cost for everything before you buy. Liberty Plaza can be a good place for deals — but only if you do your homework and compare carefully.

Liberty Plaza is a convenient place for shopping, especially if you're looking for mobile phones and accessories. There are several shops offering a range of brands and models at decent prices. Easy to explore and located right in the city

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nestled in the heart of Colombo, Gangaramaya Temple is a historic Buddhist sanctuary that beautifully blends spirituality with cultural heritage. Established over 120 years ago by Don Bastian, this temple complex spans two locations—one floating on the tranquil waters of Biera Lake and another nearby. The serene floating section features stunning Buddhist statues encircling a central atrium and sacred Bo tree, creating an atmosphere of peace and reflection.
Rising gracefully beside the tranquil waters of Beira Lake, the Gangaramaya Temple stands as one of Colombo’s most treasured landmarks — a living blend of spirituality, history, and culture. Its story begins in the late 19th century, when the revered monk Venerable Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera founded it as part of a great Buddhist revival movement sweeping through Sri Lanka. What started as a modest shrine grew steadily into a vibrant temple complex, serving not only as a place of worship but also as a center of education, charity, and community life. Stepping into Gangaramaya is like walking through a kaleidoscope of cultures. The temple’s architecture is an eclectic fusion of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese influences, reflected in its golden pagodas, intricate carvings, and vivid murals. The Seema Malaka, an elegant assembly hall floating serenely on Beira Lake, was designed by Sri Lanka’s legendary architect Geoffrey Bawa, offering a peaceful refuge for meditation. Inside the main temple, one encounters an astonishing museum of treasures — rows of Buddha statues from across Asia, antique coins, elaborate gifts from devotees around the world, and even vintage cars that tell stories of eras long past. Beyond its architectural beauty, Gangaramaya Temple pulses with life and purpose. It has become a cornerstone of Colombo’s Buddhist community, supporting orphans, vocational trainees, and the elderly through its social service initiatives. Each year, in February, the temple bursts into color and rhythm during the Gangaramaya Navam Perahera, a magnificent procession of elephants, dancers, and drummers that winds through the city, celebrating the enduring spirit of Buddhism. And during Vesak, the temple glows under thousands of lanterns, transforming into a sea of light and devotion. For visitors, Gangaramaya offers a rare blend of reverence and wonder. Modest dress is expected — shoulders and knees covered, shoes removed — as a sign of respect. Whether you come to meditate, marvel at its artistry, or simply watch the golden reflections on Beira Lake, this temple promises a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s spiritual soul. In the heart of a bustling modern city, Gangaramaya remains a sanctuary of peace — where the ancient and the contemporary, the sacred and the worldly, coexist in perfect harmony.

Here’s the story of Gangaramaya Temple (Gangaramaya Vihara) in Colombo 🌸: ⸻ 📜 Origins & Early History • The temple was founded in the late 19th century by the famous scholar-monk Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera. • At that time, Colombo was developing rapidly under colonial rule, and the temple became a center for Buddhist education and culture. ⸻ 🌸 Growth & Significance • The temple’s development was continued under Venerable Galaboda Gnanissara Thero (“Podi Hamuduruwo”), who expanded it into what it is today. • Unlike many traditional temples, Gangaramaya became a mix of religious, educational, and cultural institution. • It served as a learning center for monks and laypeople, teaching Buddhism, vocational training, and even social services. ⸻ 🏛️ Architecture & Collections • The temple is famous for its fusion of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese styles. • Inside, you’ll find: • Hundreds of Buddha statues (from Sri Lanka and abroad). • A Bodhi tree grown from a sapling of the sacred Anuradhapura tree. • An eclectic museum-like collection of antiques, gifts, ivory carvings, coins, even vintage cars. • A library and educational halls. ⸻ 🙏 Cultural & Social Role • Gangaramaya is not just a temple — it has played a big role in Colombo’s Buddhist revival during colonial times. • It runs orphanages, vocational training programs, and charitable projects. • Every year, it hosts the Navam Perahera, one of Colombo’s grandest Buddhist processions, with elephants, dancers, and drummers. ⸻ ✨ Today • The temple remains one of Colombo’s most visited sites — both as a place of worship and as a tourist attraction. • It is sometimes called a “living museum” because of its unusual blend of the sacred and the worldly. ⸻ Would you like me to create a short storytelling version of Gangaramaya’s history — something you could use for a tour guide script or social media caption?

One of Colombo’s most famous temples, combining traditional and modern architecture. A peaceful and culturally rich spot in the heart of the city. Pros: Stunning architecture blending Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese styles. Museum inside the temple complex showcasing interesting artifacts. Well-maintained grounds and friendly staff. Cons: Can get crowded during weekends or festivals. Entry fee is 500 LKR for temple plus museum. Tip: Visit in the morning to avoid crowds. Dress modestly and respect temple rules. Great place for photography and cultural exploration."

A beautiful and peaceful temple in the middle of Colombo. The golden Buddha statues, calm lake surroundings, and city lights create a stunning and serene atmosphere. Visiting the Temple was an absolutely amazing experience. It's so much more than just a temple; it's a vibrant center of knowledge and culture. It's a truly fascinating place to visit and learn.

Beautiful structure where many people are seen chilling or site seeing. This place holds a lot of political significance and till today whatever political victories happen, the signing of documents are done here in memory of the independence Square. There's a museum too which is on one side of the structure. It is packed with history. One must definitely check it out in Colombo.

Really nice place to get a glimpse of local life and see how people in the city go about their day. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or some light exercise — super calm and relaxing all around. You can really feel the history of the place too, which makes it even more special. Definitely recommend coming around sunset, the view and atmosphere are just amazing!

It’s a really quiet place to sit and relax. They won’t allow to take pictures of the statues and stuffs, but you can take pictures of you inside the hall. And when I sit and relax for a while then tried to read a book, they said something in Sinhala like I shouldn’t read there or anything, I was confused and had to leave. Anyway the place was amazing.
Sreesangameera S — Google review
The independence memorial hall built to commemorate the country's independence from British control on 4 Feb 1948. The design is influenced by the ancient architecture of the Kandyan era. Not being properly maintained. Lighting at night is not up to the standards of similar national monuments. Apparently there's no freedom or liberty to the visitors as per the numerous notices displayed throughout the premises (which destroys the beauty and historical value of the place). No close by toilets, cafes or souvenir shops. This place needs to be maintained well, nicely lit up and opened 24 hours without manned by security (CCTV would do). Being a tourism oriented country, the authorities need to consider taking a more liberal and progressive approach in managing these places of national significance and are tourist attractions.
Sudheera S — Google review
When I visited the square, it was not very crowded during the weekday. There are guards always on the premises who do not let you take selfies with selfie sticks or any other professional equipment. I don’t know why, but they denied me such a photo opportunity. The square has national monument in the form of the building and a monument to the nations father. There is a pool and a water fountain nearby. parking is also available. What I have not found is the toilet. In general, finding public restrooms in Colombo is a challenge.

Arcade Independence Square is a vibrant shopping destination nestled within a beautifully restored colonial building that once served as the Auditor-General's office. This trendy mall not only showcases an array of boutiques featuring Sri Lanka's top local brands but also hosts international fashion outlets like Levi’s and Nike. Food enthusiasts will delight in the culinary offerings from celebrity chef Dharshan Munidasa, whose innovative menu includes everything from spicy grilled prawns to unique dishes like black curry made with young jackfruit.
So, I recently visited Arcade Independence Square in Colombo, and honestly, it’s a really nice place! The first thing you notice is the architecture — it’s this beautiful old colonial-style building that’s been renovated, and it looks amazing, especially in the evening with the lights on. It’s not your typical busy mall either. The vibe is very calm and peaceful, more like a classy hangout spot. There are some nice shops inside — not a huge variety, but a good mix of local brands and a few international ones. And the food options are decent too; you’ll find places for a quick snack or even a proper meal. What I really liked was the outdoor area — it’s super chill, with fountains, benches, and well-maintained gardens. Great for photos or just relaxing with friends or family. Overall, I’d say it’s a perfect place if you want a quiet, classy spot to shop, eat, or just unwind.

This area desperately needed a shopping mall and somewhere calm to have a walk. Independence Arcade is a place no one has ever expected. This shopping mall is one of a kind and serves everyone. I recently visited Arcade - Independence Square in Colombo and had quite a pleasant experience. The restored colonial architecture is absolutely stunning — elegant façades, open courtyards, and greenery all around make it a delightful place to wander and take photos. Inside, you’ll find a nice mix of boutiques (both local and some international brands), cafes, and restaurants. The dining options are varied, from casual snacks to more refined meals. I particularly appreciated the calm, relaxed atmosphere — it’s not overly crowded or hectic like many big malls. Overall, Arcade - Independence Square is a must-visit in Colombo if you enjoy architecture, peaceful shopping, and a more upscale vibe.

The buildings are beautifully restored and have a lot of character, giving the whole area a classy and peaceful atmosphere. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés around, so you can easily spend a few hours just walking around, trying some food, or doing a bit of shopping. The place is also great for photography — both during the day and at night. The lighting, architecture, and open spaces make it perfect for taking pictures, whether you’re into portraits or just want some scenic shots. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has a nice open area to sit and relax. It’s a lovely spot for hanging out with friends, having a quiet meal, or simply enjoying the surroundings. Definitely one of those places that make you appreciate how beautiful Colombo can be.

Arcade Independence Square has really stepped up recently! Now they have amazing street food stalls with so many options to try, plus modernized pubs that are calm and quiet – perfect for relaxing with friends. The live music adds a great vibe without being too loud. One of the coolest new things is that you can even play pickleball there! It costs about 4000 rupees per hour, and it’s totally worth it for the experience. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out, eat, and enjoy a nice evening. Highly recommend visiting if you haven’t been in a while!

KFC is a popular restaurant chain known for its buckets of fried chicken, combo meals, and sides. One of their specialties is the Kentucky Fried Chicken Sandwich, available in classic and spicy options with an extra crispy filet, premium pickles, and mayo on a Brioche Bun. Customers can order online at KFC.com or through the KFC app. While some locations may have wait times during peak hours, the menu generally offers a variety of fresh options like chicken rice and submarine sandwiches.
“Last time, I visited this newly updated place in Majestic City. I also know their previous location in the same area. Compared to that place, this one is a great improvement. I tried their newly updated Korean-style drumlets — they tasted amazing!

Ask them to repeat the order before they bill. They wanted to close the bill, they don’t even repeat the order for confirmation. Ambience is good and this is a most less crowded kfc which I ever saw in the world. Only two people were there eating, I should have been cautious at least after seeing that. Unfortunately o fell for the ambience. Service should be better. If you want to visit please be cautious 🙏🏽

Terrible Experience - Avoid at All Costs! This KFC has gone drastically downhill. The food quality is absolutely appalling. Ordering two pieces of chicken now gets you a tiny wing and a drumstick – highway robbery! It's simply not worth the money. To add insult to injury, the chicken bones were black, indicating serious quality issues. This is NOT the KFC quality I've come to expect. If they can't maintain standards, they shouldn't be operating. They should be banned in Sri Lanka, just like McDonald's, if they can't get their act together. The manager was completely unhelpful, hiding behind some supposed "policy" when we complained. It felt like they were just reading a script and had no power to actually resolve the issue. Even the burger was wrapped carelessly, a further sign of the lack of attention to detail. And don't even get me started on the spicy chicken biriyani. It tasted like a kindergarten cooking experiment – bland and uninspired. To top it all off, the food wasn't even hot. Everything was lukewarm at best. Save your money and your taste buds. Avoid KFC at all costs. I will never be back.
Chami L — Google review
This place is a good place in majestic city easy access. But the food isn't that much worth. 2 regular biriyani was nearly 1000 rupees. As you can see in the pictures it was very little potion it won't enough for a child. So sri lankan KFC prices are much higher at not worthy. Service is good but they didn't produce sauce. When i asked he gave me one packet. Ac is not working there very hot inside the place. Not that much crowded. Feeling stress in there

We called into LFC at majestic City for a quick snack My husband had rice and chicken and I had chicken and fries The chicken was very dry and not very nice My French fries did not come with my chicken i they came out ten minutes later after I went and asked where they were I like my meal served together not separate which they did If they had told me my French fries had a 15 minute wait I would have asked them to serve all our meals together

Wow! The fried chicken was amazing here! I have no idea why KFC doesn't taste this good in the USA. Here the fried chicken was real delicious and crispy too! Get this... they have fried chicken biryani! And other chicken dishes you cannot find on any menus in the US! Service too was friendly and fast!

Restaurant
Monsoon Colombo is a vibrant restaurant located at the end of Park Street Mews, offering a delightful Southeast Asian dining experience. The airy and leaf-filled eatery provides an ideal setting for a romantic evening or a gathering with friends. The decor is on point, complemented by boozy cocktails and delicious dishes such as spicy sea bass, black pepper tofu, prawns wrapped in fried vermicelli noodles, fresh spring rolls, and Tom Yam Goong.
Monsoon Colombo is an absolute standout when it comes to dining in the city. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the stylish and welcoming atmosphere—modern yet warm, with thoughtful décor that sets the perfect mood for a relaxed yet elevated dining experience. The food was exceptional. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. The menu offers a wonderful mix of Southeast Asian influences, and it’s clear that a lot of care goes into the selection of ingredients and balance of flavors. Whether you’re a fan of bold spices or more subtle, fragrant dishes, there’s something for everyone. We particularly loved how fresh everything tasted. Equally impressive was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They offered helpful recommendations and made sure our experience was seamless from start to finish. It’s rare to find that perfect combination of great food and top-notch service, but Monsoon nails it effortlessly. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Colombo, Monsoon is a must-visit for anyone looking for a memorable meal in a vibrant, comfortable setting. We’ll definitely be coming back for more!

At first glance, from the outside it doesn’t look like there’s much here – just a narrow lane with some tables. But once you step inside, it’s actually quite nice. The interior has a cozy vibe with exposed brick walls, stylish seating, and a modern setup. It feels casual but also a bit trendy. The food looks good – classic Asian comfort dishes. Presentation is neat, and portions seem filling. it’s just okay — nothing really special or memorable. Not bad, but not something I’d go out of my way for. The service team was very poor, and I’m not happy with the experience Overall, it’s one of those spots where you don’t expect much from the outside, but inside it’s surprisingly pleasant and worth a try.

I recently visited Monsoon Colombo, and it turned out to be a lively and enjoyable experience. The place was quite busy, which added to the energetic atmosphere. The staff were friendly and supportive, making sure we were well taken care of throughout the visit. The vibe was great—a happening spot with good music that lifted the ambiance without being overwhelming. The food was tasty, and overall, I was impressed with the quality and presentation. In summary, it was a pleasant experience, and I’d definitely consider visiting again.

The food was all delicious but the portions were on the smaller side. I didnt like how the staff kept pushing us to order more drinks it felt a bit too forceful. Also, they kept checking and trying to clear the half finished bottles which disrupted the atmosphere. Other than that everything was fine.

Attentive and polite staff. Great selection of cocktails 🍸 Food was plentiful and extremely delicious. We sat and ate outside but inside looked great and spacious, clean.

🌟 An unforgettable dining experience at Monsoon – Park Street 🌟 From the moment I stepped into Monsoon, I felt like I’d been transported into a world of serenity. The calm, soothing ambience instantly stole my heart, and every little detail—from the décor to the music—seemed designed to make you slow down, relax, and simply enjoy the moment. The food was a beautiful fusion of Thai, Singaporean, and Malaysian flavours—each dish bursting with taste, beautifully presented, served in generous portions, and prepared with such care that you can feel the chef’s passion in every bite. Chef Thushara is truly an artist in the kitchen. What really makes Monsoon stand out is the hospitality. Manager Chris and the entire Monsoon team treat you like royalty—warm smiles, genuine care, and the kind of service that makes you feel at home while still feeling pampered. The soft, calming music in the background adds another layer to the experience, creating the perfect atmosphere for mingling with friends or sharing a quiet, meaningful meal with loved ones. If you want a dining experience that’s more than just food—something that touches all your senses—Monsoon is the place. I can say with all my heart, this is a 100% recommendation. Once you visit, you’ll fall in love, just like I did. ♥️

The one star is solely for the taste of the Laksa and service. Otherwise, the dish I ordered was subpar, with only two prawns. I don’t know of any restaurant that serves just two prawns for the price they charge. While the service was good, food is the main reason I visit a restaurant. If I wanted to eat just a plate of rice, I’d rather do that at home than pay for it here.

Thai restaurant
Dao Krua Thai, also known as Daos Thai Kitchen, is a cozy spot in Colombo-4 offering authentic Thai cuisine. Founded by Ms. Dao from Thailand, this restaurant was initially a street food joint but now offers indoor seating for a more comfortable dining experience. Despite its unassuming ambiance, the rich and flavorful dishes exceed expectations. Using homegrown herbs, the food at Dao Krua Thai is described as luxurious and bursting with flavor.
Most of the Thai portions in Colombo are with 10% service tax and 18% government tax which at the end when U get the bill becomes expensive. At Dao Hrue Thai they charge 10% for dining in which to me is fair. The cook is actually Thai. I ordered the pad Thai and it was fantastic 😊. And then the mango with sticky rice was also fantastic. The atmosphere is very good as well. A special mention for the staff was very quick to take order and serve. Well done!

◇Food◇ I ordered the Spicy Thai seafood fried rice and Prawns red curry. The Spicy Thai seafood fried rice was flavorful and tasty. The portion size was adequate for an average adult, and the pricing was reasonable. The Prawns red curry was decent, but it felt slightly overpriced. I'm not entirely sure about its authenticity. ◇Service◇ The service staff were friendly and attentive. There was a slight delay in issuing the bill, likely because they were busy at the time. ◇Ambience◇ This is probably the most colourful restaurant I've visited so far in Colombo. The lighting and decor were fantastic, and the dining area was clean and well-maintained.

Absolutely fantastic, authentic Thai food for a great price. They have indoor seating - but a wonderful little courtyard too, where you can sit outside and still avoid the humidity, with a dedicated standing fan, for each table. For dinner, I had the Papaya Salad with Prawns, which was an incredibly generous portion, with a good quantity of large shrimp, and an excellent spice and flavour; and also the Seafood Omelette which was crispy, fluffy and fabulous. The staff too, were all incredibly attentive - even the chef came out to ask how I found it! I will be going back tomorrow, to try more of the menu :) . * Updated to include pictures of the Steamed Prawn Dumplings and Pad Kra Pao Prawns I have had, since my first review

Dao Krua Thai – A Slice of Thailand in Colombo 🇹🇭🌿 Tucked inside Palm Grove, Colombo 03, Dao Krua Thai offers a homey, laid-back vibe with open-air dining that feels both breezy and intimate. The space is filled with colorful Thai-themed décor—lanterns, wind chimes, and vibrant wall art. There’s even a mini herb garden on the side, adding freshness to the ambiance. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always smiling. There’s something comforting about the way they interact. One of the Aunties, in particular, had such a gentle, kind aura—it made me feel like I was back home, and for a moment, I genuinely missed my mom. 🥹💛 Here’s what we tried: 🍜 Clear Soup Chicken with Glass Noodles – LKR 2700 10/10 – Comfort in a bowl! Light, savory, with a perfect balance of saltiness. Generous meatballs and noodles. Great for sharing. 🐟 Tamarind Fish – LKR 2700 8/10 – Not overly sour as expected. The sweet-sour balance is spot on, just like a ripe tamarind. Crisp outside, tender inside. 🥘 Green Curry Beef – LKR 2700 9/10 – Rich, spicy, and full of Thai herbs. The beef is tender, and the flavors really hit the mark. 🍚 Steamed Rice – LKR 800 10/10 – Simple but aromatic. Fluffy and a great companion to the dishes. 🧾 Total Bill with Service Charge: LKR 11,770 🛁 Washroom – 6/10 Functional but could use some upgrades. Not a deal-breaker if you’re here just to enjoy good food. Overall: Highly recommended if you’re craving authentic Thai flavors in a cozy, colorful setting—with the warmth that feels like home. 🌶️🇹🇭

Nice restaurant and the service was rather good. The food was tasty even though I ordered a pad thai and got stired fried noodles instead. But the prices are way too high... more than USD 40 for 1 entrance, 2 main dishes and 1 desert. Be careful the prices you see on the menu on Google are not the ones you end up paying.

This Thai place can easily customise vegetable options to be vegan and some of the vegetarian options are accidently vegan like the red and green curry we got the Kang Kung and tom yum. the tamarind juice was really nice too, is recommend it if you like wood apple, they're very familiar the tom yum was very flavorful and reasonably authentic, the Kang Kung would have benefited from the garlic being more lightly fried I feel

It was my first experience in a Thai restaurant. It was pretty good. We ordered batter-fried calamari and prawns as appetizers. Those were fried to perfection. For the mains, we had fried rice with different kinds of meats. Also ordered red and green curries. Those were pretty good too. And the tamarind drinks were the best in the night. We all loved it. Apart from the meals we had parking was a tiny problem since the premiss had lack of space for parking.

The Grind Coffeehouse is a recent addition to Colombo's dining scene, offering beautifully presented meals and quality coffee. Their menu features items like avocado on toasted sourdough, omelette with quinoa kale salad, and superfood granola bowl, making it an ideal spot for breakfast or brunch. Notably, they also provide a variety of vegan options in a city where such choices can be limited.
Grind Colombo continues to impress with its vibrant flavors, thoughtful plating, and exceptional service. Every dish we tried was not just delicious it was a feast for the eyes, carefully plated with artistic flair and bursting with color. Each bite offered layers of flavor that reflect the chef’s attention to detail and passion for quality. The coffee? Outstanding. It’s rare to find a place in Colombo that consistently delivers such rich, smooth, and well-balanced coffee and Grind has truly mastered it. What truly stood out was the incredible customer service. Despite facing unexpected power cuts during our visit, the team remained gracious, transparent, and accommodating. They offered thoughtful alternatives and continuously checked in on us with sincere apologies for the delays. Honestly, they didn’t need to we completely understood the situation but their professionalism made a lasting impression. Grind isn’t just a café; it’s an experience. From the beautifully plated food to the warm service and inviting atmosphere, it’s clear that every detail is designed with care. Highly recommended whether you’re catching up with a friend or simply treating yourself to something special.

The food there is out of this world. I loved the peanut rice noodles, so tangy and flavorful. Could have easily eaten three portions. Also their hojicha latte was great. Awesome place for vegans, they serve oat milk and have lots of vegan options on the menu. Friendly and caring staff. Nice atmosphere & fast service.

Been there many times and it's the best coffee spot in Colombo. Very good and quality coffee, amazing and helpful staff (last time they helped me to set my grinder). Food is amazing - lots of vegetarian options which I appreciate, variety of sweet treats and you can buy the beans as well. Sometimes it's very crowded, especially on weekends, but I always found a spot to enjoy coffee here.

One of Colombo's best coffees and Matcha. A palace to meet your friends to catch-up or for a quick coffee break. The food is amazing as well, with a range of sandwiches, pasta and healthy meals for winners. A must try is their Oat milk cold brew and Coconut matcha( thank me later) Finding seating may be difficult during Peak times. PS - it's not a place to work from either

Floating market
Pettah Floating Market is a unique shopping destination located on Beira Lake, featuring over 90 trade stalls selling a variety of goods including food, clothing, electronics, and handicrafts. Some of the stalls are built on boats, adding to the market's distinctive charm. Originally established to relocate street vendors from busy Pettah streets, it has evolved into a popular tourist attraction while providing locals with a platform to sell their produce and crafts.
The Floating Market in Pettah is an interesting concept that brings a touch of calm to the usually busy heart of Colombo. Built along Beira Lake, the market is designed with wooden walkways and floating platforms that host shops and stalls. You can find a mix of items here—from clothing and electronics to handicrafts, souvenirs, and local snacks. The lakeside setting gives it a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the bustling Pettah streets just outside. That said, the market doesn’t always feel as lively as one might expect. Many stalls remain closed or sparsely stocked, which can make the space seem quieter than a typical Sri Lankan market. Some of the charm is also offset by occasional issues with water quality in the lake, which may affect the overall experience. Despite that, the Floating Market is still worth visiting if you enjoy photography, a peaceful stroll, or simply want to experience something different in Colombo. The best time to go is late afternoon or early evening, when the sun is setting and the atmosphere becomes more pleasant. While it may not be as bustling as other markets, the Floating Market offers a unique perspective of the city and a nice place to pause during your visit to Pettah.
Vishal S — Google review
Colombo Floating Market is a vibrant and busy shopping spot located right in the heart of the city. The place is usually full of people, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. You can buy almost anything here—from clothes, shoes, and accessories to street food, local snacks, and even electronics. The market is beautifully set along the lake, which adds a unique charm to the experience. It's a great mix of local culture, affordable shopping, and urban street life. Though it can get a bit crowded at times, especially in the evenings and weekends, it's still worth visiting for the variety and vibe. Perfect for tourists and locals who love a bit of adventure while shopping!
Muhammadh A — Google review
Floating market is all hype. There is nothing necessary you have to buy or will catch your interest. I don't know why everyone suggests it. But trust me its nothing like a local market. But the place itself is quite beautiful. You can see in the pictures. There is a small lake with green water. And beautifully organized shops inside the market. Its a good place to hangout or goofing around with friends.
Mosayedul I — Google review
Visited the floating market, but it was quite disappointing. Most shops were empty or had very few items, nothing special to buy. Pros: The market is located by a lake, so there is some scenic value. Cons / Tips: Water in the lake has a strong, unpleasant smell. Many shops are empty or poorly stocked, and some have a weird odor. Not much to buy or explore; not ideal for shopping. Tip: Visit only if you want to see the lake or take photos; don’t expect a good shopping experience."

Communications tower
The Colombo Lotus Tower, located in Sri Lanka, is a must-visit for both locals and foreign visitors. With tickets priced at Rs. 500 for locals and USD 20 for foreigners, the tower offers an unforgettable experience. As the tallest completed tower in South Asia, it provides stunning panoramic views of the city and the Indian Ocean from its observation deck. The architectural marvel is inspired by the lotus flower, blending traditional symbolism with contemporary aesthetics.
Visiting the Colombo Lotus Tower is an experience that mixes modern ambition with architectural symbolism. Rising prominently above Colombo’s skyline, the tower is designed to resemble a lotus flower—a culturally meaningful symbol of purity and growth. Its sleek green stem and petal-like crown add elegance to the cityscape, especially when lit up at night. The tower offers more than just a striking exterior. Inside, there are multiple levels housing a telecommunications museum, exhibition halls, and leisure spaces. One of the most exciting attractions is the observation deck, which gives panoramic views of Colombo and Beira Lake from a height. Another highlight is the revolving restaurant—dining there while slowly rotating offers a continually changing vista of the city, making every meal memorable. The structure also serves its practical purpose as a broadcasting and communications hub, which helps integrate utility with tourism. Some of the interiors and facilities are state-of-the-art, though in parts you can notice that it’s still a relatively new project, and there may be growing pains in staff management, crowd handling, or maintenance. Overall, the Lotus Tower stands as a landmark of ambition for Sri Lanka. It’s worth visiting for the views, the architectural design, and as a symbol of modern Colombo. If you have limited time, make sure to go during late afternoon or early evening so you can catch daylight views and also see it illuminated after dusk.

Visiting Colombo Lotus Tower was an amazing and memorable experience. The best time to visit is between 5 PM to 7 PM, where you can enjoy daylight, sunset, and night views all in one go. The 360 degree view of Colombo is truly breathtaking arguably the best in the city. The service and guidance were good, and the overall experience was smooth and enjoyable. However, there’s still room for improvement. The ground floor area could be enhanced by adding more interactive activities, shops, and cafés, which would elevate the visitor experience further. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a panoramic view of Colombo with a relaxing and peaceful vibe.

One of the highlights of the city is the Lotus Tower. Entry fee for foreigner is USD 25 per person to go to higher decks, while you can enjoy the souvenier shop on the ground floor. Since we were short of time and had to reach the airport, we dint go up in the viewing deck, am sure the views would be stunning. The World Trade Centre in Colombo is one of the most reputed and important businesses complexes in the whole of Sri Lanka. The 39-storey premium business complex was erected in 1999 and it has been awarded for its energy-efficient management.
A Modern Icon in Colombo – World Trade Center Sri Lanka The World Trade Center (WTC) in Colombo is a standout landmark in Sri Lanka’s skyline and a symbol of the country’s growing business hub. Located in the heart of Colombo’s commercial district, WTC offers an impressive blend of modern architecture and professional services. As one of the tallest buildings in Sri Lanka, the WTC boasts state-of-the-art facilities for business and office spaces. The building itself is well-maintained, with a spacious lobby and clean, efficient elevators. It houses multiple international companies, making it a vibrant and dynamic location for professionals. The location is extremely convenient, with easy access to major transport routes, nearby hotels, and restaurants. There’s plenty of parking space for both tenants and visitors, which makes it very convenient for those who need to travel in and out regularly. However, the security and access controls can sometimes feel a bit strict, but that’s to be expected in a high-rise building of this stature, ensuring safety for all who work and visit. In conclusion, the World Trade Center Sri Lanka is an excellent choice for businesses looking for a prestigious and accessible location in Colombo. Highly recommended for professionals looking to establish their presence in Sri Lanka’s thriving business environment!

The World Trade Center in Colombo is one of the most iconic commercial landmarks in Sri Lanka. With its twin towers standing tall in the heart of the city, it offers a modern and well-maintained space for businesses, banks, and international companies. The building is clean, secure, and has excellent elevator service, making it easy to navigate even during busy hours. The location is ideal, with easy access to public transport, restaurants, hotels, and key government institutions. The surrounding area is always buzzing with activity, yet the WTC itself remains professional and organized inside. The staff and security are helpful and courteous. However before you park your vehicle in their vehicle park think twice as they charge very high price per hour compared to other parking services in sri lanka A great place for business meetings, events, or just to admire the city from a higher floor. Highly recommended for professionals and visitors alike!

Galle Face Green is a vibrant oceanfront park nestled in the heart of Colombo, where history meets modernity. This lively destination features a long promenade alongside sandy shores and stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Originally established by the Dutch for military purposes, it has transformed into a beloved gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. As dusk approaches, Galle Face Green buzzes with activity—couples stroll hand-in-hand while kite flyers fill the sky with colorful creations.
Galle Face Green in Colombo is one of those rare places where the vibrant energy of a city meets the calm of the ocean. Stretching for nearly half a kilometer along the Indian Ocean, this open green promenade is the largest seafront space in the city. It’s a favorite spot for both locals and tourists to relax, enjoy the sea breeze, fly kites, or simply sit by the water and watch life go by. What makes Galle Face Green special is its atmosphere. On one side, you have the bustling Colombo skyline, and on the other, endless waves crashing against the sea wall. In between, families picnic on the grass, children run freely, and vendors sell a variety of street food. From spicy isso vade (prawn fritters) to fresh mango slices sprinkled with chili and salt, the food here adds a lively and authentic touch to the experience. The evenings are especially beautiful when the wind picks up and the sunset paints the sky with golden and crimson hues. Though it’s not a sandy beach where you can swim, Galle Face Green offers something unique—an open, welcoming space where the community gathers. It’s best visited in the late afternoon or evening, when the heat softens and the place truly comes alive. If you are in Colombo, Galle Face Green is a must-visit. It’s not just about the ocean views, but also about soaking in the spirit of the city, enjoying simple pleasures, and sharing the space with people from all walks of life.

Looks lovely at night because of the lights of the high rises facing it. Late evening or at night are the bests times to visit because, it is hot during the day time and there is no place to take shelter from the scorching sun. There is no sandy beach below to dip your feet to cool off either. The cool breeze blowing across the Indian Ocean is refreshing at night time however.

Galle Face Green is one of the most iconic and vibrant spots in Colombo, offering a perfect blend of history, leisure, and natural beauty. Stretching along the Indian Ocean, this vast open promenade is where locals and tourists alike gather to enjoy the cool sea breeze, the sound of crashing waves, and breathtaking sunsets that paint the sky in brilliant hues of orange and pink. The place truly comes alive in the evenings, with families, couples, and friends strolling, flying kites, and tasting local street food like isso wade and fresh coconuts. The atmosphere at Galle Face Green feels both peaceful and energetic—a rare balance that makes it so special. Watching children play, vendors calling out cheerfully, and waves rolling against the stone barriers creates a charming, timeless rhythm of Sri Lankan life. It’s also an excellent spot for photography, morning walks, and simply unwinding after a busy day. The nearby landmarks, such as the Galle Face Hotel, add to the area’s historical charm. Overall, Galle Face Green captures the heart of Colombo—a place where nature, culture, and community meet. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning traveler, it’s a must-visit destination that leaves lasting memories.

It can be a nice place for a walk by the sea. But there isn’t much shade. It’s very open to the sun which typically shines right in front throughout the day. There are just patches of grass. It could be improved greatly. Also, be aware of people trying to sell you something or asking you for money. It seems to be quite common in this area.

Galle Face Green is a 5 ha (12 acres) ocean-side urban park, which stretches for 500 m (1,600 ft) along the coast, in the heart of Colombo, the financial and business capital of Sri Lanka. The promenade was initially laid out in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward, although the original Galle Face Green extended over a much larger area than is seen today. The Galle Face Green was initially used for horse racing and as a golf course, but was also used for cricket, polo, football, tennis, and rugby

🏙️ The ocean meets the heartbeat of the city here. Evening breezes, kites in the air, sizzling isso wade, and the endless golden horizon — Galle Face is Colombo’s soul laid bare. Come for the sunset, stay for the feeling. 🌅 Tips & Tricks: • 🌤️ Visit at 5:00–6:30 PM for the most breathtaking sunset. • 🦐 Try the isso wade from street vendors it’s legendary. • 📸 Bring a tripod if you want that perfect golden-hour skyline shot. • 🚗 Parking is easy near Galle Face Hotel in early evening hours.

Visited again in the month of November first week. Evening sky look great with sea breeze. The beach is clean and beautiful. Lot of kites on the sky and pleasant to watch. The green grass gone and could see sand everywhere and not sure why no green these days. I could see waves are too close now a days due to the artificial land created inside the sea by Chinese called Colombo Port City. I feel another decade the water will invade to Galle Road and nearby hotels. Few years back there mobile was eatery shops on beach side now shifted to newly built permanent shops about 10’-0 down from ground level so one can see the sea & waves from anywhere in the road side sit out. Nice planning by Colombo Municipal ( hope other cities can follow this in coming years )

The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere and the setting is very attractive. Even the colours they have used are very vibrant. And that was the only plus point I could see. The food was very stale and couldn't eat at all. Then I got a Nestea which was fine. The customer service was really bad. They behaved as if they were paying for my meals. Very disappointed!

atmosphere is good quite and charming, but food quality not worth the money, foods are overpriced, we bought some gataeu cake slices and it can be seen was not fresh. It may have been kept for days.we also bought egg noodles and that was too spicy.

9th August:- Ok place for a quick bite.... Not for meals. I've been there for breakfast, they are not good at all. They have a variety of bakery items which are tasty and affordable. The most annoying thing about this place is mosquitoes. There are plenty of dark corners filled with mosquitoes. Mosquito bites are certain if you sit still for more than 5 minutes. I have never seen mosquitoes in any other place in WTC but this. Edit 14th August :- I got infected with dengue fever. I will never visit this place again.

The experience is wonderful. Food is super nice looking as well as taste is wonderful. But the talking about the price point, portion is not values for the price. But overall the experience is super good. Further have to mention on the Happy Hour drink offers. Worth the price. And as at today, 33% VAT is charged. Overall if you are trying out outlets in dutch hospital, Heladiv tea club is a must.
Navidu C — Google review
The day I visited they were unable to serve food and their tea selection was minimal. It was not exactly a tea club but just an area with some seats club. The tea I was able to buy was quite bland, the server forgot to provide milk and when milk was provided it came in teenie tiny little thumb sized miniature cup. Not enough to say the least. And, as per usual, it was unnecessarily expensive for what we got. We were the only two customers inside, the atmosphere was pretty boring. Nothing really to look at and the music was so so. Luckily this was only just a stopover, a quick "in and out" situation as we had plans to get on with. So it served as a great moment to sit in an air conditioned room for about 30 minutes. I think that was the highlight of our visit here.

Finally found the only place in Colombo that serves shisha from 8:30AM with correct working hours. However, their expected time of preparing shisha is 30-40 minutes. Hookah is bad but average for Colombo. They do it only on the terrace so the coils are always closed and burn tobacco very fast. They have only Adalya like tobacco or something, so you know the deal. I also had a fruit platter which was served for 30 minutes in the evening. Quality of these fruits were below average, but still enjoyable. At nights, they can miss your request and ignore your asking at all.

One place that have never let us down.. Been there several times now and the service was great and consistant irrespective of the server. Food is always great; in love with the mustard pork bite and the chicken sliders. All the signature cocktails are amazing ( beware of the high alcohol % though 😉). With the all day BOGOF it is the ideal place for a meetup anytime of the day.

Located at Dutch Hospital surrounded by many other restaurants and pubs. Quiet place during lunch hours, but crowded during the evenings. Since most of the people come to relax after work, gatherings. Parking space is common for all the restaurants and need to take a ticket, which is not computerised, but managed by a group of people. Food was good for price especially Caramel Tea. Alcohol is also available. Friendly staff.

YUMI at Taj Samudra is a standout Japanese restaurant in town, offering a modern and trendy ambiance that sets it apart from traditional Japanese eateries. The restaurant's black and orange theme creates a hip and stylish atmosphere. YUMI is known for its excellent maki sushi options, making it a great choice for Japanese cuisine enthusiasts. The spacious and comfortable seating adds to the overall dining experience, making it an ideal spot for quality dining.
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Colombo. Food was tasty and presentation was good. The service was good and had comfortable seating. I would say it would be better if they could keep the bar counter a bit more tidy and clean. I would recommend everyone to try rock shrimp. The texture was amazing and it had a mild caramelized sweet taste which tops up with the batter.

One of the best places for Japanese food in SL. Their signature dish is the Volcano Maki and a definite must try for anyone. We also ordered the Rainbow Maki was astounding. The chefs special salad comprises of tuna, salmon and crab meat and is a taste delight. The chicken katsu Don was also delicious. They also serve unlimited cups of complimentary green tea. The restaurant itself appears a bit dated and would benefit from some authentic Japanese interior design and music. While the price is on the higher side, it is an indulgent treat that is well worth it. The portion sizes are also big. Overall, a great place for a Japanese meal

If you're looking for a genuinely positive Japanese experience, look no further than Yau Me at the Taj Samudra. The ambiance is lovely and the customer service is truly top-notch—attentive and professional. The food quality is superb. The Ramen (LKR 5,150) was top-notch with a deeply flavorful broth, and the Chicken Karage (LKR 3,550) was excellent, especially with the spicy sauce. We loved the fresh Tuna Maki (LKR 3,550) and our favorite, the warm, tasty Sushi Fried Rice (LKR 2,350). While prices are on the high side, the exceptional quality of every dish makes this restaurant completely worth the splurge. Highly recommended!

I have been here twice. My favourite is their signature volcano maki. Their different noodle dishes and fried rice are great too. But Pork Katsu don was too sweet for my liking. I would love to visit again although the price is more towards high since they have been consistent with taste and service.

Good Place for Japanese food. The flavors are great and there’s a great range of both Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic drinks to pair with your food. I found the mains menu was a little limited. More options would have been better. The range of sushi and sashimi though was excellent. They tasted great as well. No complaints there. The ambience too is very nice with a dark aesthetic and low mood lighting. Very impressive decor and architecture to the room. Gives off a good vibe Recommended 👍🏻

Went in for dinner. The interior is decorated with chinese ornaments and Chinese ceramic wares. We ordered some spring rolls and some noodle options. Sorry I don't remember the names. Check the photos to help you. The food is good. As expected the prices are on the high side. The atmosphere is great. You xan dine outside as well overlooking the lake and watching the Lotus Tower. Service is mixed as we went in and rarely saw anyone in the hall. They came to take the order and later to serve. In between its empty. I was not able to find anyone to clarify the menu till someone turned up to get the order. Recommended if you are staying in the hotel and wanted to try something else from the hotel buffer The Dining.

The ambience was good. Wasn't crowded and the waiters were very hospitable as expected. I'm giving 3 stars because of 1 dish which was black pepper lamb that wasn't worth the price. Apart from that dish all the others were good.

Long Feng is a high-end, fine dining Chinese restaurant that offers an authentic array of Chinese cuisine. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's ambiance sets the stage for an exquisite dining experience. Food Quality: We started our meal with the prawn balls, and they were nothing short of amazing. The perfect blend of flavors and textures made them a delightful appetizer. The spring rolls were cooked to perfection, offering a satisfying and crispy bite. Mains: For the main course, we opted for the garlic prawns, and they did not disappoint. The prawns were large, and the dish was packed with flavor, making it a true winner. However, the highlight of the meal was the whole garoupa. It was steamed to perfection, and the sauces used packed an incredible punch of flavor. The fish itself was remarkably fresh, moist, tender, and simply perfect. It was so good that we couldn't resist going for seconds and thirds as we quickly ran out of the garoupa. We also had the fried black pepper beef, which was tender, crispy, and truly amazing. Additionally, the diced chili chicken was very nice, offering a balance of spice and flavor. Sides: The fried rice and noodles complemented the meal perfectly, and they were on point in terms of taste and texture. Service: The restaurant provided not only good food but also great service. The staff was attentive and accommodating, ensuring that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Final Thoughts: Long Feng is a culinary stat in Colombo. The combination of good flavors, a great ambiance, and attentive service makes it a standout choice for Chinese cuisine. The prawn balls, spring rolls, garlic prawns, and, of course, the unforgettable whole garoupa were some of the highlights of our dining experience. The fried black pepper beef and diced chili chicken also impressed. If you're looking for a high-end Chinese dining experience in Colombo, Long Feng is a must-visit. It's the perfect place for those seeking a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine in an upscale setting. Don't miss out on the opportunity to savor the culinary delights and impeccable service that Long Feng has to offer. Your taste buds will thank you! Měiwèi xiǎngyòng

In addition to the captivating wildlife, visitors can explore an aquarium and butterfly garden within the premises. Whether you're on a romantic getaway or seeking relaxation, this attraction offers an enriching experience for couples and travelers looking to immerse themselves in nature's wonders.
The Dehiwala Zoo is a lively place full of excitement and wonder. On weekends it can feel a little bit crowded, especially with families and kids running happily from one enclosure to another. The aquarium is one of the biggest attractions, glowing with colorful fish swimming gracefully. Outside, the lions rest proudly in their den while the zebras wander gracefully across their open space. Parrots add splashes of color and cheerful sounds, drawing children close with their bright feathers and chatter. With so many animals and attractions, the zoo remains a favorite spot where kids enjoy nature, fun, and discovery.

⭐⭐⭐ (3/5) I recently visited the Dehiwala Zoological Garden 🐾 after many years - last time I went was during a school trip 🚌 in my childhood. I was super excited to see all the animals again 🐘🦒🐅🦓, but honestly, it felt like there were fewer animals than before 😕. Many of them were alone 🦁🐻, which was a bit sad because they looked lonely 💔. The butterfly park 🦋 was sealed off - they say it’s for conservation, but there were no butterflies inside at all 😅. It would actually be nicer if they left it open so butterflies could come in naturally 🌸🦋🤣. There was a man-made waterfall 💦 which looked really nice from far, but the water smelled so bad 🤢💀. The aquarium 🐠🐡 was okay, but honestly, I’ve seen more fish at Diyatha Uyana 🤣🐟. The seal show 🦭 wasn’t happening that day (I went on Sunday, 12/10/2025), and the snake photo spot 🐍📸 was also closed. On the bright side ✨, I did get to see a rare black jaguar 🐆, a Bengal tiger 🐯, an anaconda 🐍, and a few other reptiles 🐢🦎. Most of the other animals were just sleeping though 😴. Overall, it was a nostalgic visit 🥹, but the zoo really needs some updates and better care for the animals 🙏❤️.

Sri Lanka’s National Zoo is truly a gem for visitors of all ages. On my recent visit, I was impressed by the significant improvements and the way the zoo is being cared for. The animals looked healthy and active, which makes the experience much more enjoyable. The lions, elephants, and hippos were especially captivating to watch. It’s a perfect destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to spend a fun and educational day. A visit here gives you a chance to connect with wildlife while seeing the dedication put into maintaining this special place.

Today I visited the Dehiwala Zoo with my family, and it was a wonderful experience filled with learning, nature, and excitement. The zoo has a wide variety of animals—from majestic lions and tigers to playful monkeys, colourful birds, and beautiful aquatic species. It’s a great place for both children and adults to explore and enjoy. The environment is calm and green, with well-maintained pathways that make it easy to walk around. The animal enclosures are spacious and clean, and the staff seem dedicated to taking good care of the animals. The highlight of the visit was the elephant show and the sea lion show, which were entertaining and educational. There are plenty of resting spots, snack areas, and information boards that make the experience comfortable and informative. It’s a perfect family outing for anyone looking to spend a relaxing and meaningful day close to nature. Overall, the Dehiwala Zoo is still one of the best places in Colombo for kids and families to learn about wildlife and enjoy a peaceful outdoor experience. Highly recommended for a family day out! 🐅🦜🐘🌿

A great family outing spot! Dehiwala Zoo is a well-maintained and peaceful place to explore a variety of animals and birds. The shaded pathways and greenery make the walk enjoyable, especially with kids. The animal enclosures are fairly spacious, and the aquarium and reptile sections are interesting. The sea lion and elephant shows are a hit with children! Some areas could be improved for better animal welfare, but overall, it’s a lovely educational experience in the heart of Colombo.

It's a one and only national zoo in Sri Lanka. In my recent visit I noticed that many improvements there and the place is maintaining well. Not like earlier its good to see some healthy animals. Specially the lions, elephants and hippos. Good place in srilanka to visit.
Sara J — Google review
I visited the Dehiwala Zoo recently, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The place had a very strong smell and was quite dirty in many areas. The environment did not feel well-maintained, and many of the animals did not look healthy or active. It was sad to see their condition. The zoo really needs better management and care to ensure a clean and comfortable space for both the animals and visitors. At the moment, it is not a pleasant place to visit.
Nivadhi C — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Dehiwala Zoo is a nice place, especially for children to see animals and learn about nature. I have visited several times over the past few years and noticed some new animals and renovations. Still, the development is slow and not well-planned. The zoo needs better maintenance, modern enclosures, and more attention to animal health and well-being. Adding more species, improving green areas, and creating educational programs for kids would make the experience much richer. Facilities like clean rest areas, proper sign boards, and better waste management would also improve the visitor experience. As a citizen and a nature lover, I feel the Dehiwala Zoo has great potential, but unless there is proper long-term planning and care, it will not reach international standards.

The National Museum of Colombo is one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable cultural treasures. Located in the heart of Colombo, this grand white colonial-era building, established in 1877 by Sir William Henry Gregory, offers visitors a deep insight into the island’s rich history and heritage. From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by centuries of fascinating artifacts — from ancient royal regalia and stone inscriptions to exquisite carvings and traditional art. One of the highlights is the regal throne and crown of the last King of Kandy, symbolizing Sri Lanka’s royal past. The museum also showcases prehistoric fossils, ancient coins, weapons, and an impressive collection of Buddhist statues, which reflect the island’s deep spiritual and artistic traditions. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, with clear explanations in both English and Sinhala, making it easy to follow Sri Lanka’s story through the ages. The museum’s surrounding gardens and peaceful atmosphere provide a perfect escape from the city’s bustle, adding to the overall experience. Whether you’re a local visitor or an international tourist, the National Museum of Colombo is a must-visit destination to truly understand Sri Lanka’s diverse cultural identity and its journey through time. It’s educational, inspiring, and beautifully preserved.

The Colombo National Museum offers a deep dive into Sri Lanka’s cultural and historical roots. The collection includes ancient art, statues, royal regalia, and traditional artifacts. The architecture of the museum is impressive and adds to the experience. Some areas could use better maintenance and air conditioning, but overall it’s a fascinating and educational visit for locals and tourists alike.

The National Museum of Sri Lanka is an absolute treasure trove of history and culture. From ancient royal artifacts to beautifully preserved traditional crafts, every exhibit tells a story about the island’s rich past. The building itself is stunning colonial architecture surrounded by peaceful gardens, perfect for a slow walk after exploring. The galleries are well organized and informative, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours if you’re interested in art, history, or just want to understand Sri Lanka’s heritage.

The Colombo National Museum is an absolute gem for anyone eager to dive deep into Sri Lanka’s rich cultural and historical heritage. From the moment you step through its grand colonial-style entrance, you can feel the sense of history and pride that this place holds. Established in 1877, the museum beautifully preserves the island’s story through its impressive collection of ancient artifacts, royal regalia, traditional art, and centuries-old manuscripts. One of the most captivating sections is the display of the Kandyan throne and crown, which gives a glimpse into the grandeur of Sri Lanka’s last kingdom. The museum’s galleries are well-organized, taking visitors on a chronological journey through prehistoric times, ancient kingdoms, colonial influences, and the evolution of Sri Lankan art and culture. The life-sized statues of Buddha and the intricate carvings are simply mesmerizing, reflecting the country’s deep spiritual traditions. The building itself is a masterpiece — its white façade, lush garden surroundings, and tranquil atmosphere make it a delightful place to explore at your own pace. The staff are friendly and helpful, always ready to share insights that make the experience even more enriching. Whether you’re a history lover, an art enthusiast, or just a curious traveler, the Colombo National Museum offers something unforgettable. It’s not just a museum visit; it’s a journey through time that deepens your appreciation for Sri Lanka’s cultural soul. A must-visit destination in Colombo that leaves you inspired and enlightened!

They have a good zoological and botanical section which they'll exhibit for Universitites and Schools only on request. They have a small, well equipped auditorium for events as well. The director is a very polite and understanding officer. The museum doesn't display all the cultures and traditions celebrated in Srilanka as most of the treasures have been stolen during the colonial period.

One of the main attractions is the Throne of Sri Wikrama Raasingha, the last King of Ceylon which is displayed. Main building showcases the Sri Lankan heritage, culture, and history. The other building showcases about the Agriculture, Pre historic facts about Sri Lanka, Mammals and Bio diversity facts. The Commons Coffee House is a laid-back establishment known for its diverse menu, offering everything from classic American breakfast and burgers to Sri Lankan dishes. It's a popular and cozy hangout spot in the city, catering to various tastes with vegetarian options, breakfast items, mains, and desserts. In addition to staples like crepes, salads, wraps, and waffles, visitors can enjoy unique offerings such as kottu rotti and spring hoppers.
I had the pleasure of visiting this place once with my family to celebrate my dad’s birthday in November 2023. And guess what? My friends even arranged my bridal shower at the same place in July 2024! For special occasions like these, they have a dedicated private area, which is super convenient. It’s a lovely and clean place, very cozy and inviting. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive during the events. They provided everything we needed and even went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we required. And let me tell you, their food was absolutely delicious! There was nothing to complain about. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable experience.

Wow! The “Yellow Chicken Rice” at The Commons is absolutely delicious — a wonderful new addition to their lunch menu. The presentation was excellent, and the flavor was spot on. A big thanks to Steward Priyantha for his outstanding customer service. Both my kids were love this dish, Highly recommend trying the Yellow Rice at The Commons!

What a welcoming and warm atmosphere! The place feels spacious and has a home-like vibe. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is impressively quick. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food tasted; many 'cafes' often miss the mark on flavor. While the value for money is reasonable given the overheads and portion sizes, it's definitely worth a visit for all foodies. Overall, it's a must-visit spot for a peaceful and cozy hangout with friends, family, or that special someone

The desserts need much improving. The chocolate biscuit pudding and chocolate brownie mousse are pretty okay. The red velvet cake on the other hand was pretty bad- very dry and tasteless. The frosting was definitely not made with cream cheese and had an off taste. Tasted like a very cheap cake dyed red with a funny white frosting.

OG’s of the food game. This has been there for over 15 years for sure. The food has been decent throughout. They had one of the best cheese kottu’s in town and also the friend chicken basket.. They also had good roti portions for dinner like egg roti and stuff.

Cafe Kumbuk is a popular spot in the upscale Cinnamon Gardens area, near attractions like the National Museum and Independence Square. It's highly regarded among expats and is known for its great coffee, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere with a Sri Lankan aesthetic. The cafe also features an outdoor terrace and a shop selling ethical Sri Lankan souvenirs. Emphasizing healthy, sustainable living, Cafe Kumbuk uses fresh, local produce for its ever-changing menu.
Gorgeous little cafe tucked away near the museum. Had the prawn taco and a passion-mint tea - the flavours were amazing. They really use local flavours with fan favourite dishes. Harith, who was serving made great reccomendations and was so kind. I really reccommend this cafe for a relaxed lunch or if ypu need to remote work for a few hours.

If you’re looking for a cozy little escape from the city’s hustle, this café is the perfect spot. Tucked away in the middle of Colombo, it blends comfort and nature beautifully while serving up food that truly delights. Since the day they opened, they’ve stayed true to their concept and branding, which I really admire. The menu has something for everyone, including vegans, and the variety is impressive. The staff is friendly, service is good, and the food is consistently tasty. From their current menu, I have to say the mango pancakes are an absolute favorite of mine — highly recommended! It’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again and again. One small suggestion for the management: the outdoor seating area tends to attract a few mosquitoes and flies. Maybe adding some bug-repellent plants could help make it even more enjoyable. Other than that, everything is spot on.

TLDR: Ridiculously good food and matcha, and the friendliest staff ever! Cafe Kumbuk is located on the ground floor of a cosy building, with indoor seating as well as a lovely front and back yard. They also have a cool merchandise store. We stayed at Srilax, which is Cafe Kumbuk’s cute accommodation option on the floor just above the cafe itself - super convenient for breakfast and lunch. The staff are extremely sweet and went above and beyond to make our visit comfortable. Huge shoutout to Harith, Raj, and Mr. Buddhika!! If you’re in Colombo, swing by this place, you won’t regret it.

Starting from making the reservation to, finding us parking spots to, serving good food to our oveall experience was very good. They have decent spread of food covering meat lovers, Vegans, Vegetarians. Tasty food, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Look a like they are very busy on weekends, better to make a reservation in advance.

An absolute gem in Sri Lanka! 🌟 It’s only my second day here in Sri Lanka, and I’m already completely in love with this café. The place is immaculately maintained and has such a classy, elegant vibe — you genuinely feel like you’ve stepped into a calm, beautifully curated world. A special shoutout to Anjali and Harith — and honestly, the entire staff — for being so warm, courteous, and attentive. Their hospitality just elevates the whole experience. From the ambience, to the food quality, to the service — everything here is exceptional. If someone from India (or anywhere!) is planning a trip and wants something truly extraordinary, especially for a perfect breakfast experience, this café is a must, must, must, must, must try! ✨ Loved every moment here — can’t wait to return! 💛

You might have choices in cafes but you should NOT miss this place. Tucked away in a little street off Independence Ave, it was a welcomed stop off for brunch on Sunday after wandering around the park. We had the avocado toast served with yummy passionfruit salsa (prepared by chef), great coffee, all served in a lovely lush ambiance set in their patio garden. Very eco conscious with no plastics used and recycling. Friendly and efficient - thank you. Would I go again - yes, yes, yes!

During my recent visit to Baked Colombo with friends, I was captivated by the serene and welcoming atmosphere that made for a delightful dining experience. The menu offered a variety of well-prepared dishes at reasonable prices, with the prawn pasta standing out as a personal favorite due to its exquisite flavor balance. While waiting or after your meal, you can enjoy an array of card and board games, adding an extra layer of fun to your visit.
Found in Elibank Road with its quiet tree-lined, almost picture-perfect streets, lies one of Colombo's newest ventures to things of the cafe-d variety. We genuinely liked our experience at Baked Colombo. The space is beautiful and the food, especially the chicken Burgers, were simply brilliant. We highly recommend.

Ordered 4 pieces of tres leches via Uber eats paid Rs2494/=, not even a dog can eat this. This is just a solid pieces of flour tasteless with massive amount of whipped cream on it. More or less like “Gal banis” with whipped cream. Please stick to what you know or Atleast learn to make and try yourself before selling without wasting people’s money and ruining their mood.!!!

Got a lot of recommendation for the pizza. Tried their chicken tikka pizza and BBQ pizza. The pizza was good, but I was disappointed with the quantity of the chicken on the pizza. There were like a few pieces only. It was not worth the price. Parking as available. Atmosphere also could improve. The entrance was dark with no lights when we went. Service was top notch.

Our favorite dish was the prawn pasta, which had an amazing balance of flavours. they also offer card and board games to enjoy while waiting or after dining. Whether you're hanging out with friends, spending time with family, or looking for a peaceful place to study, Baked is a great choice. I give it a solid 10/10 overall. Highly recommended!

I dropped in with much expectation but the service was awful. You will have to wait, and wait, and wait for that one guy to take your order, serve your food to the table after an hour or so, which is not worth the price. We ordered 2 submarines it wasn’t fresh and the meat was mixed with 🍅sauce no flavor at all. I ordered a cappuccino and it wasn’t presented pleasantly. My worst dining experience amongst all the wonderful places we dined in CMB. The one ⭐️ is for the ambience.

It was my first time trying out their pizza and it was really poor quality. The pizza was paper thin as seen in the photo and it is salty and full of chillie with very small prawn pieces or cheese. Very bad experience

Been seeing a lot of posts from Baked Colombo and must say most of them looked tempting. Decided to order their dishes for our Sunday breakfast. I got the Teriyaki beef sandwich valued at Rs. 750 The Nutella strawberry waffle valued at Rs. 850 2 creamy chicken buns each valued at Rs. 190 I was satisfied with the beef sandwich, it was stuffed very well and was tasty but could use a little more flavour of the beef itself. 4 out of 5 The Nutella strawberry waffle was not upto my expectations for the price point. The Nutella was good and a lot was provided but the number of strawberries were a shame. Hope this is corrected. 2 out of 5 The chicken buns were tastey, but once again price point and size wise it can improve. 3 out of 5 Overall I am defenitly going to try more of their sandwichs but not sure about the rest. Could be a bad day so would give it a shot. Thank you Baked Colombo.

On holidays, people come for picnics, but the park seems to be more popular among Muslims than other ethnic groups. A bike rental facility is also available. they have horse ride,.horse carriage riding which was around 200 per person. And they also had paddle boats for 100/=per person. It was a fun experience. It's a big, green, peaceful space right in the city's heart - perfect for a chill walk or just relaxing under the trees. The park is clean and well-maintained, with many shady spots, walking paths, and benches. There's a cool golden Buddha statue at one end and the Town Hall building right across the road, so it's a nice little area to explore. Families, joggers, and some street vendors were around, but it wasn't crowded. You might catch some local events or kids playing cricket if you're lucky.

Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre is undoubtedly one of the most iconic venues in Colombo for both indoor and outdoor performances. While the theatre itself is a modern architectural marvel, what truly sets it apart is its incredible ability to host well-organized outdoor events, which we have had the pleasure of experiencing multiple times. One of the first things that stand out about Nelum Pokuna is its excellent event management. Every outdoor show we attended was planned to perfection, with smooth entry procedures, well-managed seating or standing areas, and an overall hassle-free experience. The organizers do a fantastic job ensuring that large crowds are managed efficiently, allowing attendees to enjoy the event without unnecessary delays or confusion. Another major highlight of this venue is the affordability of its tickets. Despite offering a world-class experience, the ticket prices remain surprisingly reasonable, making it accessible to a wider audience. Whether it's a musical concert, a cultural performance, or any other live event, Nelum Pokuna ensures that high-quality entertainment is available at a price that doesn’t break the bank. This affordability makes it a go-to spot for anyone looking to enjoy top-tier performances in Colombo without overspending. The outdoor setting itself adds a whole new dimension to the experience. There’s something magical about enjoying a live performance under the open sky, surrounded by the energy of a lively audience. The sound and lighting setups are always top-notch, ensuring that every performance is visually and acoustically stunning. The combination of a well-maintained outdoor space, excellent technical arrangements, and an enthusiastic crowd creates an electrifying atmosphere that stays with you long after the event is over. Overall, Nelum Pokuna Theatre continues to impress with its outstanding organization, affordability, and the unique charm of its outdoor events. Whether you’re a fan of live music, theatre, or cultural shows, this venue never disappoints. It’s a place where unforgettable memories are made, and we can’t wait to experience more events there in the future!

Located in Colombo, Excel World Entertainment Park is an amusement park offering a variety of attractions for both kids and adults. From thrilling rides like pirate ships and bumper cars to gaming zones and bowling alleys, the park has something for everyone. One of its main highlights is Snow World, where visitors can experience a winter wonderland regardless of the outside temperature. Additionally, the park features 'Adventura and Naughty Castle,' home to one of the largest bouncy castles in Colombo.
We had an amazing experience visiting Excel World Entertainment Park with friends! There’s a great variety of fun activities like archery, paintball, bowling, and other sports — perfect for a day out. Bowling costs LKR 900 per person, which is quite reasonable. The food court offers good choices at affordable prices, and if you’re in the mood for a drink, beer is also available on-site. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to relax and have fun with friends. Highly recommended!

Excel world was excellent 👌👍. For adults and kids. The kids enjoyed all the playing area outside and the snow world was a great experience for both adults and kids. Bowling, gaming and restaurant area was really good. Clean, near and very well maintained restaurants. Nice collection of items in the food menue and nicely served in hot fresh condition. And it's worth the price. The range of kids meals were good as it gives a good quality and quantity for little ones. Rice and beverages were nicely presented. We spent almost spend a whole day out at the entertainment park with kids. Great place to enjoy with family, friends and with young couples. There's a great range if entertaining activities for adults and young adults as well. The snow world was entirely a great experience not forgetting the great DJ , it was awesome and fantastic for all age groups. And the cost for each activities are reasonable and there's enough park. But we visited the peak hours and almost ran out of parking even though there was a huge area to park. I would recommend it as a good day out to enjoy with love ones once in a while.

The shooting range was really good and the guy there was nice and very helpful, which made it a fun experience. But honestly, the rest of Excel World feels outdated — it looks almost the same as it did 4 years ago. The bowling alley is the only thing worth the hype, still fun and enjoyable. Overall, the place really needs a bit of freshening up to bring it back to life.

One of the highlights is the variety of good restaurants and food outlets conveniently located inside, offering plenty of tasty options to refuel. Overall, Excel World combines entertainment and dining in one lively location—definitely worth a visit!

They’ve got a number indoor and outdoor games for all ages but not at all managed and maintained well. The kids adventure area had only a few rides with poor lighting. Snow world was a huge scam, the price was high, we couldn’t really enjoy well as they’d jammed a huge crowd at a time and it wasn’t snow, huge ice cubes which really would hurt everyone. One good thing I was fascinated about was the food and drink options, there were plenty of stalls in and around the park. Wouldn’t be going again.

There are some restaurants and a playground for bowling etc. Bowling : Rs. 900 PP ( 20 balls) There are other fun activities
Kavindu R — Google review
Excel world is a blast from the past. They have done the dining area up nicely but the arcade is a hall of relics, half of which are broken down. Still I like the laid back pace of things there, it’s not as flashy and overstimulating as new places. The bowling alley has an old section where half the lanes are closed, and the new side has digital screens and is more modern. They have added a shooting range and archery area too but they are very makeshift, tiny spaces. Overall the place could do with an upgrade, it’s so old and tired. Appreciate that the prices are moderate and not as inflated as most other places.

Restaurant
Upali's by Nawaloka is a top choice for those seeking traditional Sri Lankan cuisine in Colombo. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes suitable for vegans and vegetarians, from soups and salads to main courses and desserts. Once the childhood home of businessman Upali Dharmadasa, this establishment provides a homely atmosphere while serving mouthwatering rice and curry spreads during lunch hours.
I tried the Sri Lankan mixed flavors platter and one of their desserts (photos attached). Both were delicious! The waiter was very kind, friendly, and attentive — he even gave us information while chatting with us. One small note: if you don’t want spicy food, make sure to mention it in advance. Overall, it’s definitely a place where you can comfortably enjoy a meal if you’re around. Highly recommended!

Greeted with smiles. We had fried rice both chicken and prawns. The isso thel dala was really nice. Spicy but delicious 😋. Also the potato fry was excellent. Service is excellent. The drinks were excellent. Genuine sri lankan culinary experience in the heart of colombo. You got nelum pokuna and the colombo council building for the view. Easy to have a conversation. The watalappan was fantastic as well. I didn't notice any artificial flavors or enhancers. It's a healthy genuine experience. Highly recommend!

The highlight of our short stayover at Colombo before heading to explore other parts of SL. When the 2 of us, ordered the Jaffna Crab Curry we were warned that the portion size is usually fit for 3-4 people. And to be fair, it is but little did they know our capacity to devour that delicious crab and soak in all the gravy into our set lunch menu plate with rice, bread and vegetables. I'm going to have dreams about that crab gravy. There were so many other things on the menu that caught our eye but our stomachs betrayed us by only allowing us to eat so much. Coming back again on the next visit to Colombo to savour more.

The service was exceptionally friendly, and the staff took the time to guide us through their extensive menu and explain the dishes. The food was delicious as well. We had roti paratha, veggie curry, prawns, milk hopper and buffalo milk. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a sri lankan experience in Colombo! :)

Recently visited Upali’s by Nawaloka. We tried the mix fried rice which was quite flavorful. However, the cheese chicken kottu was a bit disappointing, as the cheese was just placed on top instead of being mixed in. We also ordered a cheese roti but it didn’t meet expectations. The dishes overall were not very spicy. We tried the watalappan as well, but it tasted like it had been refrigerated for a long time. Service was okay, nothing to complain about, but nothing special either.

Fantastic Sri Lankan Fare in Colombo Upali's by Nawaloka is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving authentic Sri Lankan cuisine in Colombo. From the moment you walk in, you'll appreciate the trendy, welcoming atmosphere—it's a chic spot to enjoy traditional food. The location is excellent, too, right in the heart of Colombo and conveniently close to Viharamahadevi Park. The menu truly delivers. Whether you're craving comforting staples like roast paan or looking for perfectly cooked meat dishes, Upali's has you covered. The flavors are genuinely authentic and utterly delicious. If you want a taste of real Sri Lanka in a vibrant setting, make a stop here. Highly recommended!

Food was extremely disappointing and disgusting. We went for lunch. Ordered a devilled chicken, pictures attached, its more bone than actual chicken. The fried rice isnt made of basmati, the rasam (pictures attached) is a disappointment. Who in the world add so much oul in a rasam. Its basically chicken or fish curry that they made that they served saying its rasam. The kottu is the best. Pictures attached. It smelled bad, they served us foul food. Added alot of sauce to cover the taste and smell. Soooo disgusting. Made with uncooked bread and made with old veggies and meat etc. Basically everything is bad, don’t waste your time. Please please try your food before eating. The manager apologized profusely which i appreciate but it’s his job to check everything
Dilly K — Google review
Firstly, we witnessed a rather rude exchange between the manager and another guest. The customer had been waiting over 20 minutes for a bottle of water and called out several times. When the manager finally came over, his response was shockingly dismissive — “Was it me whom you ordered from?” Regardless of who took the order, such an attitude from management is unacceptable in a restaurant of this standard. Adding to the concern, we were served banana leaf plates with dead spiders on them. When we raised the issue, the manager attempted to shift the blame to suppliers, saying the leaves are steamed and cleaned before use. But that misses the point — where is the hygiene control and quality check? What if someone had eaten without noticing? Overall, both the attitude of the staff and the lack of basic hygiene were extremely disappointing. This is not what one expects from a restaurant with such a reputed name. Never again.

Pizza Factory offers a delightful dining experience with its recommended pizzas that boast an authentic taste. The service is commendable, and the atmosphere exudes a calm and peaceful vibe. However, there have been some concerns raised about the beverage service, with customers feeling they were overcharged for their drinks. Despite this, the establishment provides efficient service and accepts both cash and card payments.
This is a fantastic place for pizza lovers. The pizzas are delicious, with a perfect balance of crispy crust, fresh toppings, and rich, flavorful sauces. Whether you prefer a classic Super Supreme or more adventurous combinations, there's something for everyone. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are friendly, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s a great spot to relax, share a pizza with friends or family, and enjoy great conversation. Highly recommended for anyone craving top-notch pizza in a welcoming setting!

Pizza Factory is a must-visit for any pizza lover! Their pizzas are perfectly baked in a wood-fired oven, giving them a rich, smoky flavor that’s hard to beat. The crust is crisp yet soft, and the toppings are always fresh and generous. I tried [mention the pizza you had if you like], and every bite was a delight. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, making it perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic, delicious pizza!

Recommended!!🥇 We visited the place in the evening few weeks ago. There were no customers at the place and hence it was too quite. We ordered a 10" Italian cheesy garliz pizza. It took about 10-15 minutes to deliver the order. They are customer friendly and efficient. The 🍕 was crusty and soft. It was very delicious. If you are a craving pizza lover, don't miss this place.

I went there because of the recommendation of some friends, it was worth it. Pizza was really good, just the way I wanted. Prices were really fair too. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. You can see the kitchen where the pizza is being prepared and the oven adds to the atmosphere. I was surprised as to how good the pizza was for the price. Also I visited during a time where there were not many customers. They didn't even take long to prepare the pizza. If you want wood fired pizza, this is a really good place to go to

One of the best places for pizza! Absolutely delicious. The four-cheese pizza was amazing! Also tried the BBQ Chicken and Chicken ham and mushroom pizza which were very flavourful. Ambiance is nice and quiet, and it's a good place for a hangout and relaxation. Staff is courteous and helpful. Bit of time taken to serve drinks but overall good service.

Visited a few times now, and they’ve never disappointed. Tried the Garlic Pizza and Margherita, both on thin crust, and they were excellent. The Garlic Pizza especially was rich, tasty, and perfectly balanced. But chocolate milkshake was little more sweet. (sugary) 🥲 The place has a really nice atmosphere too. Definitely one of my favourite pizza places in Colombo! 🍕✨

It seems they are running with low staff. They mentioned it takes an extra 10 minutes to prepare the food, on top of the usual 15 minutes — so around 25 minutes total. However, we’ve been here two days in a row, and both times it took over an hour for the food to be ready. Even though the food is very delicious, team is giving maximum efforts, final timing and communication really matter.

Sri Lankan restaurant
Palmyrah Restaurant, situated within the bustling Renuka Hotel on Galle Road, is renowned for its exquisite traditional Jaffna cuisine. The menu features popular northern Sri Lankan dishes such as pittu, tossai, mutton curry, and whole crab curry. A particular highlight is the elusive milk hoppers that are a rare find in Colombo. The restaurant has garnered a reputation for its exceptional service and sophisticated ambiance.
When ever we are in colombo ,my buddy Malaka will bring me to what he feels and i totally agree is the best sri lankan food in colombo !
Baldbellyboy — Google review
Palmyrah claims to offer "authentic" and "traditional" Jaffna flavors, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of that promise. The flavors felt diluted, seemingly modified to cater to a Western or non-native palate, which diminished the authenticity that one would expect from such a place. The odiyal kool starter, advertised as one of their signature dishes, was particularly disappointing. The flavors were off, and rather than the earthy, seafood-rich taste typical of kool, it was overshadowed by an unexpected addition—possibly a tomato or chili-based sauce—that completely altered the dish’s character. This departure from tradition was a letdown. The other dishes didn’t fare much better. The hoppers were underwhelming, I assumed that the batter wasn't fermented enough, and both the kothu and prawn dish lacked the bold, nuanced flavors that define authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The core issue seems to be a dilution of traditional recipes. By trying to appeal to a broader audience, Palmyrah has compromised the very essence of what makes Jaffna cuisine so special. If you market your food as "authentic," it’s crucial to stay true to the original flavors rather than tailoring everything for a "foreign" palate. The service, too, left something to be desired. It took over 10 minutes before our server even approached our table, despite the restaurant being almost empty. There was a noticeable lack of attentiveness, which contributed to the overall lackluster experience. On a positive note, the atmosphere was clean and pleasant, but that alone isn’t enough to redeem the experience. Given the hype surrounding Palmyrah, especially from YouTube videos labeling it a "must-visit," I’d have to disagree. Based on this visit, I’d recommend giving it a pass unless they go back to delivering the rich, authentic Jaffna flavors they claim to serve.

A Restaurent situated in Colombo- 3 Sri lanka, inside the Renuka hotel. Very nice and Beautiful Place.Tamil foods like pittu, string hoppers are available with tamil curries and coconut sambol.hoppers are also available. Foods are Very tasty and for reasonable price.

Palmyrah has a reputation for authentic Jaffna-style dishes and hoppers, so I was eager to finally check it out . Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet expectations. We ordered hoppers, their well-known mutton dish, seeni sambol, thosa with sambal, and wattalappam. The hoppers were below average, and the mutton—while flavorful—was served cold and came in a small portion, yet cost 3,500 LKR. The sambols were the highlight—both seeni and thosa sambals were tasty and well-made. The wattalappam was disappointingly small and overpriced, with average flavor. We ended up spending close to 10,000 LKR for the meal, which felt steep for what we got. The ambience was just okay—it’s a downstairs restaurant with no view and nothing particularly atmospheric or romantic. It feels like a place to eat and go, rather than to enjoy the experience. Sadly, I won’t be returning. It seems Palmyrah has lost the charm and quality it was once known for.
Nuwan A — Google review
if your looking to dine at a cozy restaurant with great Lankan cuisine, i suggest the Palmyrah restaurant at the Renuka City hotel in Colombo. Service is great and the food is a 3.5/5. here are some things to note: For the main course - here are my recommendations: * We love the Egg hoppers and Seeni sambol and the jaggery hoppers :) * Note that all condiments and sambols are priced separately. this includes the chutney for dosa/pol sambol etc. * The Fried fish puttu is my husbands favourite along with an order of Ambul thiyal which is really superb. For Dessert..the favourite was: The Mango Melba which is a generous portion and so tasty. I would not recommend the wattalappam as the portion was tiny and does not deliver authentic taste For fruit juices, the lime juice was the winner. Note that while the prices look reasonable on the menu.. but it does add up as all condiments are sold separately. Cocktails are also quite expensive ( starting at Rs 2000 ++) All menu items are subject to a heavy service charge - please be mindful the bill will be higher than what you ordered.

I recently visited this place. The food didn’t taste special — very simple and I would say it’s overpriced for that. I wasn’t fully satisfied with the service, but a 10% service charge was still added to the bill.

It is one of the oldest malls in the city and offers a down-to-earth shopping experience with a variety of stores and services. The mall features three floors of luxury shopping and entertainment outlets, making it a popular destination for locals to do their seasonal shopping or enjoy leisure time with friends and family.

A nice mix of local and international brands makes it ideal for both casual visits and serious shopping trips. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Colombo!

Crescat has been the same and that same vibe all these years is still there's , yes things ares expensive in shops inside but you can walk in , the keells is on the ground floor with the food court. It looks elegant during the Christmas season with decorations, this year as well. I can say that they well maintain the premises , just walk in without any fear it's open for anyone, but with money if you want to get something or you can roam around inside but don't make it obvious so walk into shops, ask about prices , go to food court get something you can afford and that's pretty much it, it's basically a mall generations before one galle face.

Crescat Boulevard is one of Colombo’s most convenient and vibrant shopping destinations. Located in the heart of the city, it offers a well-curated mix of retail outlets, supermarkets, and dining options, making it a great stop whether you’re shopping for fashion, groceries, or simply enjoying a meal. The mall is clean, well-maintained, and easy to navigate, with a comfortable atmosphere that appeals to both locals and visitors. The food court is a highlight, featuring a wide variety of cuisines at reasonable prices, and the connected supermarket adds extra convenience for everyday needs. Parking is generally good for a city-center location, and security is well-managed. While the mall isn’t as large or modern as some of the newer complexes in Colombo, its central location, friendly service, and diverse shopping choices make it a reliable and enjoyable spot for quick errands or a relaxed outing

Sima Malaka Meditation Centre is a peaceful oasis nestled amidst the city, earning a well-deserved 5-star rating. This serene retreat, surrounded by a picturesque lake and river bodies, offers a tranquil escape from the urban hustle. Visiting in the evening, we were captivated by the incredibly calming atmosphere, perfect for deep reflection. The nearby temples elevate the spiritual experience, while the scenic beauty can be enjoyed in just a few minutes—ideal for a short, soul-soothing stop. Conveniently close to local shops and shopping options, it’s a gem for unwinding. Foreign visitors pay a modest 400 Sri Lankan rupees, which includes access to the main attraction just meters away. Beautifully located next to Beira Lake, this peaceful temple offers calm views and a relaxing atmosphere. The architecture is unique with wooden design and open spaces over the water. It was very crowded during the weekend, which took away some of the peaceful feeling, so it is better to visit on a weekday. Good spot for sitting quietly, enjoying the lake, and taking photos. You can spend some time here if you want to escape the city noise for a while.

Seema Malaka is truly one of the most peaceful places to visit in Colombo. Built on the calm waters of Beira Lake, this floating Buddhist temple offers an oasis of serenity away from the city’s hustle. The wooden bridges, blue-tiled roofs, and reflections on the lake create a calming atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at ease. The temple, redesigned by renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa in the 1970s, is beautifully minimalist yet spiritually rich. The platforms are adorned with serene Buddha statues in different postures, along with shrines dedicated to Hindu deities and even Guanyin, reflecting Sri Lanka’s cultural diversity. A sacred Bodhi tree adds to the spiritual depth of the site. What stands out most is that Seema Malaka is less about ritual and more about reflection. It feels like a place made for meditation and quiet contemplation, rather than crowded ceremonies. Visiting at sunset is particularly magical, with golden light shimmering on the water and a cool breeze flowing through the open structures. If you are in Colombo, I would highly recommend a visit. It is not just a temple, but an experience that blends architecture, spirituality, and natural beauty in perfect harmony.

It’s not just a temple, but also a place for meditation 🧘, peace, and reflection. Visitors are enchanted by the lake views, gentle breezes, and the golden glow of the sunset over the temple 🌅💛 A visit to Seema Malaka is truly a calming and unforgettable experience, offering harmony for the soul and a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s timeless Buddhist heritage 🌺🕊️

Seema Malaka is one of the most peaceful and picturesque spots in Colombo. Set on the lake, the temple has a calm, spiritual atmosphere that makes you instantly slow down and breathe. The architecture is stunning — simple yet elegant — and the reflection of the buildings on the water is absolutely beautiful. It’s a wonderful place to take a quiet walk, reflect, or simply enjoy a moment of serenity in the middle of the busy city. A must-visit for anyone looking for tranquility and beauty in Colombo.

Extremely beautiful Buddhist temple to visit in Colombo. It is on a lake and the views are amazing. You can walk around the carved wooden hall, golden Buddha statues, holy tree, stupa and the large Buddha statues, very peaceful.

Gangaramaya Seema Malaka is a peaceful and culturally rich temple set on the waters of Beira Lake in Colombo. The temple’s location and architecture are serene, with a floating platform design that makes it a unique stop for travelers interested in Sri Lankan religious heritage. One important note: local residents can enter for free, but non-locals are required to purchase a ticket for 500 LKR. Tickets are checked before you enter, so make sure you have cash on hand. As is customary at many religious sites in Sri Lanka, visitors must remove their shoes before entering the temple grounds. While I fully respect this tradition, I highly recommend avoiding a visit during the hottest parts of the day. The stone flooring heats up quickly in the sun, and walking barefoot can be genuinely painful. It definitely took away from the experience for us. There isn’t a ton to do besides walking the grounds and snapping a few photos, so it’s more of a short visit—maybe 15 to 30 minutes. While the site is beautiful and culturally significant, I wouldn’t say it’s a must-see unless you’re already nearby or particularly interested in temples. Go early or late in the day for a more comfortable experience.

It’s a perfect place for meditation, photography, or just relaxing by the lake. The reflection of the temple in the water during sunset looks magical. A must-visit place in Colombo for anyone who loves peaceful environments, architecture, and scenic beauty."

Really good casino. Has a suitable vibe with music & large screen for entertainment, a separate buffet area along with snacks & drinks served on the game table.. All this is on the house as long as you're at the & playing :) They also have exotic dancers including pole dance routines & live stage entertainment too. Definitely worth a visit & more so for people keen on playing casino games.

Bally’s Casino was an interesting experience. The games and atmosphere were lively, but coming from Canada, it felt strange to see people smoking indoors. The air was quite smoky, which took some getting used to. The experience would have been nicer if the employees were a bit more welcoming. Overall, it was okay :)

Bally’s Casino Colombo, and it was quite an experience! As one of the largest casinos in Sri Lanka, the vibrant atmosphere and sheer scale of the place were impressive from the moment I walked in. The gaming floor is expansive, with a great variety of games—blackjack, poker, baccarat, and plenty of slot machines. The staff was friendly and professional, and the complimentary drinks and buffet dinner were a nice touch, adding to the overall experience. The live entertainment, including music and dance performances, kept the night exciting. I also appreciated the free pickup and drop-off service from my hotel, which made the visit hassle-free. My only critique would be that the air can get a bit smoky, which might bother some visitors, and I wish there were more slot machine options for casual players. Overall, Bally’s offers a fun and luxurious night out, perfect for both seasoned gamblers and first-timers like me. Would definitely return!

Its not sri lankan friendly and i was charged an entrace fee of Rs.15,000/- and they said that is redeamable. However the coilns i recived was 3 x 5,000/- and it was not allowed on the ruleatte table and whatever you will they do not give what you won and that time they will change it to the normal chips.. scam. Do not get caught for that. They do serve food and drinks but they watch how much you loose.. 🤭 more you loose more drinke you get. Fair enough as there's nothing comes free.

After deep ups & downs on the amount played , on my plan, by the time I had to leave, the amount was more or less the same of my plan I paid for. Upon asking for an airport drop off, as offered for my plan, at the Marketing desk inside Bally’s Hall, the desk women officials called their male supervisor. It was at 9.00 pm on 12/11/2025. He asked my membership number and the amount I played with. I explained the above narrative. For any reason, if I don’t fit into your serviceable system or due to any other issue that should have been conveyed in a proper way without showing off any attitude. Instead, that supervisor scoundrel decided and rudely said that I did not visit to play at all although I played for 11 hours in 2 days. The cameras could vouch for my activity there. It was very insulting. The owners have to be watchful about this scoundrel who spoils your name and reputation. It was a good experience there otherwise except for this incident.

Indian restaurant
Chutneys, located in the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, is a South Indian restaurant that offers a unique alternative to the typical European brunch. The restaurant features an extensive selection of South Indian dishes from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Each state has separate options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.
You should try the vegetarian buffet they have on poya days! It was an absolute treat and the variety of dishes offered was impressive. Chutneys is definitely a great find for anyone who loves Indian cuisine.

A lovely lunch at Chutney’s, the service was excellent managing a large group. The variety of dishes on the menu made it difficult to order 😊, we enjoyed the thali and other dishes that were ordered. Would recommend a visit.

Chutneys, nestled within Cinnamon Grand in Colombo 03, is a delightful South Indian restaurant that promises a culinary journey through Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The extensive menu offers a rich tapestry of flavors, each dish crafted to perfection. What truly sets Chutneys apart is the expertise of their Indian chef, whose touch adds an authentic charm to every bite. Prepare to be amazed as you savor the essence of South Indian cuisine in every delectable dish. Our dining experience at Chutneys was off to a great start with the Ulndu Wade, served with two flavorful chutneys. With just three pieces, it left us craving for more! Priced at LKR 1,080, it was worth every penny for the amazing taste it offered. For beverages, we tried the refreshing Tamarind Juice, or "Panakam," which was simply delightful. With the subtle sweetness of jaggery, it was a perfect accompaniment to our meal, priced at only LKR 850. This is a must try. We also indulged in the pure Ginger Juice, known as "Inji Chaaru," priced similarly at LKR 850. It had a comforting, homemade feel to it, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. For mains, we ordered a non-veg Dosai Thali came with two masala dosais and one paper dosai and 12 or 13 curries. i remember it had mutton curry, chicken curry, carrot halwa and so many more. i would say, if you are an average eater, that portion would be suffice for two people. it was priced at LKR 2,480/-. Highly recommended. We opted for the Paratha portion, which included three delicious layered parathas, priced at LKR 1,080. Each paratha was perfectly cooked, with layers that added to its texture and taste. To complement the parathas, we ordered the Andhra style Prawn curry, also known as "Royyilu Iguru," priced at LKR 2,280. The curry was an absolute delight, bursting with flavors and generously filled with succulent prawns. It was a truly satisfying culinary experience! After indulging in the delightful dishes mentioned above, we found ourselves pleasantly full and unfortunately couldn't explore the dessert menu. When the bill arrived, including service charges and taxes, the total came to about LKR 11,584. Considering the quality of food, service, and overall experience, we felt it was well worth the money spent. The restaurant emanates an authentic Indian vibe with its serene and peaceful ambiance. It's an ideal spot for family or group outings, as the seating arrangements provide a sense of privacy for each group. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it.

If you want to try out authentic Indian food then Chutneys is the place to be. Since it's inception I've managed to visit this restaurant time after time. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit in Colombo. Food is simply yummy. Make sure that you check out the cheese dosa 💯🥰🙌🏻

Tasty food. Prawn biriyani was amazing. Had a generous amount of nicely cooked prawns packed into the biriyani. A must try dish. Non - veg thaali is also had a unique taste from bite to bite.... Had different curries with different taste which made the thalli really interesting. Food is not heavy as they had rasam and other spices used in the cooking. And they serve the thaali with a little dessert which is suuuper delicious. The milk and sago pudding like thing is heavenly. And the pineapple and tamarind juice is also a great combination for the food we ordered. Order the tamarind and ginger juice if u like the taste of tamarind. Overall nice setting with a good service and definitely a good option for group outings.

Visited for lunch on Pongal. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly. Ulundu wade, Bonda, Dosa non-veg Thali, South Indian non-veg Thali, Mutton/Prawn Biryani, Lassi, Tamarind juice, Masala Chai were fresh and tasted so good. It took some time to prepare the order, however, the calm atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing until the dishes got ready.

We ordered a variety of foods n drinks, it took sometime to serve, maybe because it got a little too busy. Anyways the food was delicious, loved the fish we ordered. Prata and Biriyani was also delicious. The best of them all was the dessert Julab Jamun!!!!

I would like to recommend this place highly. Food was really tasty and it has that indian authentic flavor. Staff is really friendly and nice place to have a dinner. Ordered food items: Masala Neer More South Indian non vegetarian dosai thali Mutton Mangala - Karnataka Kohzi Biriyani This combo was superb and portion size also satisfied. Worth for the money as we had a good meal in calm and quiet environment.

Restaurant
Located at the heart of the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, The London Grill has retained its classic ambiance since it first opened 40 years ago as Sri Lanka's inaugural five-star restaurant. Its decor resembles a grand hall with large metal plates adorning the tables. The menu stays true to its identity as a grill restaurant, offering consistently delicious food with creative starters like stuffed oysters and tempting desserts.
London Grill at Cinnamon Grand Colombo is hands down the best grill in Sri Lanka! The atmosphere is elegant and serene, perfect for a romantic and peaceful dinner. From start to finish, the service was impeccable, with staff attentive to every detail. Every dish we tried was delicious, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of steak, seafood, or other grilled delights, you won’t be disappointed. One thing to note is that it’s best for an adult dining experience, as children under 12 are not recommended. Highly recommend London Grill for a special night out!

my family and i have been going to london grill for over 15 years and after our last visit we will not return. they recently changed the menu and all the food is now far below the standard we know and love. 1) the mushroom sauce had no mushrooms in it 2) they no longer have the lobster bisque 3) nor the gelato between dishes 4) nor the chocolate popsicles 5) potato side dishes are now an additional charge 6) the side of vegetables comes with a mere 4 slices 7)without the sauce on it the fillet was absolutely tasteless. zero seasoning and marinate. 8) they used to give a wide array of breads to choose from, now it’s only 2

The steak and starter was great — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The ambience was okay, nothing particularly special, but still comfortable enough for a good meal. Overall, I enjoyed the food and would come back for the steak alone.

Anniversary Dinner at London Grill – Cinnamon Grand We celebrated our anniversary at London Grill, and it was truly a memorable evening! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was outstanding — warm, attentive, and genuine. The staff members Gayan, Maheshika, and Janith went above and beyond to make our night special. The ambience was elegant and perfect for an intimate dinner, while the food was a delightful new experience — beautifully presented and full of flavor. To top it off, they surprised us with a special anniversary cake, which was such a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more meaningful. Thank you to the London Grill team for creating such a lovely experience.

Nice ambiance and Vinoth, Trevin and the team are really good at what they do ! Great service but for the food I think could be better ! (Specially the stakes and the foie gras) All in all good place, great people - worth a try

The steak is too salty, and the black pepper sauce tastes a little sweet. Finally, a tax of 8,000 rupees (excluding service charges) is also charged. This restaurant is highly unrecommended unless you have extra money to do charity, 叕貴ㄡ難ロ乞,叧リ粜!
Yuying C — Google review
The food was delicious but definitely more on the expensive side. They started off with complimentary garlic bread and buns with a trio of herbed butters for the table, followed by a fresh lime palate cleanser prior to serving the main meals. A complimentary chocolate covered ice cream was served as dessert. The food was tasty, the plating was done well, and the ambience was romantic. The only issue I had was the high price of the food. There were not many options for my husband in terms of gluten free items but the staff were able to put together a basic salmon dish with an olive oil dressing for him. The staff were attentive and we enjoyed the live piano music as well.

Chilled out spot, doesn’t get too crowded, quite spacious and open air, so only issue is if it rains. One of the few calm places to have a cold one around Colombo. Good portions and quality are very good for the prices.

Niruththaanjali S — Google review
I visited breeze bar expecting high-quality service and attention to detail, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I ordered spaghetti, but was served penne instead, which is a simple but noticeable mistake at this level of dining. And it was not tasty at all. To make matters worse, the fork they gave me was damaged, which really didn’t meet the standards I’d expect from a luxury hotel. While the hotel’s vibe and setting are nice, the small details—like getting the order wrong and receiving faulty cutlery—left a lot to be desired. For a five-star establishment, these issues really stood out. I hope they take more care with these elements in the future.
