Any restaurants we wanted to go to were in short walking distance from the hotel. Our room was nice perfect size for the 2 of us. The staff were great! The location is really good - close to the King Street Metro station and the free trolley that takes you to the waterfront area. The room was extremely clean and decorated in a nice way. The shower was fantastic as well with great water pressure! The areas that need some help would be the a/c struggled considerably during the heat of the day. The rooms are really tiny - probably the smallest hotel room I've ever had, but not really much the hotel can do about that. I'd keep that in mind if someone has larger pieces of luggage and are putting more than one person in the room. The biggest issue I had was with the comfort of the bed, which is a personal preference thing. The mattress felt like mush - the softest mattress I've ever had at a hotel. It was very uncomfortable with little support. Once in the small room, additional criticisms include poor pillows, a flashing bathroom night light and a flashing smoke detector light providing us an unwelcome light show while trying to sleep on pillows that rank among the worst we've experienced in any hotel. And, the room clearly is not sound proofed only adding to a poor one night experience. And a lack of normal room details like a magnification mirror and poorly placed shampoo and soap dispensers behind the shower head, requiring a reach through to use. The level of poor customer sevice was amazing. The parking lot is a confusing labyrinth of rows and pillars so much that attendant had to literally walk me over to where to park my car. The customer service at the front desk is horrendous. They also do not have data ports to charge your phone or your computer!!!! In a metropolitan city, they don't have this, and it's a Hilton. They do have landline jacks so bring your rotary phone. When I called down to the office to ask where the charging ports were they said it's behind the TVs on the wall. They arent. Also for the made to order breakfast the only sign is at top of ramp but none on steps in the main entrance. From the parking garage you have to come up the elevator with all your gear, go through the maze of chairs and ramps to get to another elevator. They have lots of doors, but only one you can use to come in or out of the hotel onto King street. As I was leaving I had my key card(I had to get one since phone was dying) so i stopped at front desk and said im checking out and he just nodded. Um even an insincere thank you wouldve been nice.These are just the highlights of how bad my experience was.I could go on and on. I go to area twice and tear and thought staying at this Embassy with the 8 floor atrium would be fantastic. I was wrong. Location is very good for metro.

The TV’s don’t support streaming sticks and they have locked the TV’s don’t so there is no way around it! Street side rooms are a little noisy because of the nearby nightlife but the check in staff warned of this which was reasonable. Light sleepers will struggle. I am a medium sleeper and had no issues with street noise. The air conditioning however is LOUD! It will keep you awake unless you have been tranquilizer with horse tranquilizer…. So ask for that when checking in if you want air conditioning overnight. Staff are accommodating and very helpful. Location is fantastic for main Alexandria activities.

Otherwise the rest was pretty disappointing. The room smelled really bad of mildew, the pull out bed had crumbs and an orange peel on top of the fitted sheet, once we took the sheet off, the mattress cover had a blood stain that looked like it had been through the wash but not bleached. We brought it all down to the front desk but they only gave us two clean flat sheets (after two separate requests) to use for the night, because they said housekeeping needed to take care of the rest. There was melted chocolate on the carpet, not a chocolate stain but literal chocolate. The heat wouldn’t work at all no matter how high we turned it up, it just kept blowing cold air right onto our faces in the bedroom so we ended up turning it completely off and just freezing for two nights. This was all on the CLUB LEVEL. Other things that we normally wouldn’t care too much about like the shower being dirty, the toilet making a metal banging noise every so often, the WiFi not working, and some extremely loud wind chimes outside our window that didn’t stop all night, felt like bigger issues because of the disgusting nature of the room. Not to mention the Sheraton Club was closed. We did not request to move rooms for reasons that would take another paragraph to explain. My husband is a few stays away from being Titanium for the year and I have traveled with him for many of the 65+ stays, from Fairfield’s in the middle of nowhere to the Sheraton Ohana Suite in Waikiki, we have never encounter a room like this and ultimately it just makes me sad because our adult daughter came along as a special trip for her before she heads off to medical school and the room put a pretty bigger damper on the experience. On a Wednesday morning, there was no room for my family to eat at a table, even though they have 3 empty rooms beside the breakfast space. In addition, no hotel staff greeted us and explained the process or offerings. Another hotel guest saw us looking confused and offered us a space to sit and explained where the silverware was and the breakfast process. I share this information with you hoping that this location will correct these easy fixes so other people visiting will have a better experience. If you are comparing this hotel to the embassy suites (in the area).... this hotel is more modern, while the embassy suites is older with a better hot breakfast that is included with your stay. Both room sizes are the same and you pay for underground parking at both locations. The embassy suites is near the MTA, so you can take that to get around the city. They also have a transition program for special education students, where they learn how to work in a hotel. Words can not express the kindness of the hotel staff towards the special education students and teachers ( I was moved). One last thing, if you are planning a trip to DC this old town area in Alexandria is a great location to stay!!! I have stayed in many areas, this is my favorite 😍 Think about what is important to you and you'll have a great save experience. As I reflect on the previous reviews, I agree that this could be an excellent property but the same experiences that guest received 3 weeks ago are still a problem currently.

There were cracks in the walls, the ceiling light looked like it was hanging on by a thread, and my wife did not feel comfortable taking a shower due to the old cracking dirty tiles. We could not walk in our room without the closets shaking and the floor creaking. We were also charged $45 a night for valet and a $25 destination fee every day despite there being no amenities or anything whatsoever. The only positive about this hotel is the location and how close it is to everything and the friendly staff. The hotel itself felt very old, run down, and not taken care of. There was also only one elevator which looked very old and ran as if we may or may not get stuck in it everytime we got on.

The “executive chef” seemed to be trying very hard to create unique dishes inspired by his home country, but they came out more odd than innovative — and not properly executed. I ordered a dish plastered with warnings about undercooked beef, yet what I received was basically overcooked steak tips. I expected rare to medium-rare; I got medium to well. And the place wasn’t even that busy. All in all, not a great experience. The location is perfect for Old Town Alexandria, but the hotel itself is little more than a place to crash — and even that felt like a stretch..

The other issue we had was public transportation. One reason we chose this place was because other reviews mentioned it was easy to get to places using public transportation. It wasn’t that easy. We would have to walk 10-15 minutes to get to a bus stop, then take the bus for about 7 minutes to get to the metro. I would have much preferred to stay somewhere directly next to a metro. Next time we come to DC, we will be. Also, the busses near the hotel proved unreliable. We ended up having to walk 30 minutes one morning bc the bus was delayed. 3. You have to drive, uber or take the bus to get anywhere. There is not a local coffee shop with in reasonable walking g distance. Nor any shop for that matter. The closest coffee is 7-11 at about 25 min walk. The rest of the shops are 30-40 min walk.

I had a wonderful experience from the time I arrived. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I felt safe and secure in the parking area and in the hotel itself. Unexpectedly our room was upgraded to a bigger room which was very nice of them to do. The free breakfast was lovely and the kitchen/host staff were excellent. This is a great location if you are looking to be out of the rift raft of the city of DC but close enough to get to DC quickly. I would definitely stay here again if I come back this way for another trip. The rooms could stand some upgrading touches as the room feels a little dated however, it was very clean and bug free. Maintenance did bring up a box fan, it helped, but was still hot. The breakfast buffet needs an uplift. Dry overcooked eggs and potatoes. Bacon was burnt to a crisp. No French toast or pancakes as advertised via their QR code menus. A bit disappointed. Lastly, and be prepared, it’s $40 per night to park and it’s valet only. Total total rip off! I can see 20-25, but 40?? Come on! For the price we are already paying for the room, the parking should be free… let alone $40. I am traveling the country for the month of November celebrating my 50th birthday. I have stayed in several Marriott properties the last 13 years & this by far has been the best! I did an extended stay from the 9th-17th. I was upgraded to the 7th floor w a balcony which had a decent view, esp at night. First thing I noticed after settling in was the shower pressure & water temp. The shower head had very strong pressure & the temp was hot! The HVAC unit worked as designed & cycled regularly & kept the temperature spot on. I did have an adjoining room (as the door on the inside) but no one was next door the entire time. The one downside about the room was the mattress. It's not bad but not good either. Now on to the best part of my stay.....the staff. Mariah, Zahra, Vandella, Micha, Cherie & the Assistant General Manager (AGM) Lakeyva are the friendliest group of personnel I have encountered throughout hotel stays. I have never taken a subway so their knowledge of the train made my stay less stressful. I was also looking for hole in the wall places to eat. Needless to say I was not disappointed on ANY spot that was mentioned. They all went out of their way to assist me throughout the 7+ days I was here. If anyone from corporate reads this, this locations staff deserves a raise or a bonus. I was always treated kindly, with a smile & respect. I was able to have conversations with them in the evening times after returning from site seeing what I had planned each day. I called and requested for towels and there was hair on them, the room looked like a cheap hotel so much wrong with it, the comforter was stained and so was the chair in the room, all the wood furniture was chipped and looked like it's ran down. The no dog policy is not well advertised online and signs are not easily visible at all entry points. I went for the first time with my small chihuahua and even though I was holding her I was approached by security and informed that vendors complained about my dog being present and that it posed a health risk. I have eaten at many fancy and elegant restaurant patios with my dog and have never heard of dogs being disallowed outside. I will not give business to this market. It was extremely crowded and disorganized anyway. I also saw a couple of cheese stands and was disappointed to see it was mostly prepackaged cheeses - not the experience I’ve had at other farmers markets. If I want prepackaged cheeses I’ll go to a grocery store.

We moved from the Midwest to Maryland last year... Farmers markets were both much larger and more popular there and we loved taking our dog on cool mornings. He's well behaved and it's excellent enrichment for him as well as a great chance for us to support local farms and artisans. We really missed it, so we drove almost an hour to this market this morning only to be greeted by massive "Do Dogs Allowed" signs at every possible entrance. There were plenty of dogs loitering around the edges of the market, so it seems like we weren't the only ones surprised. It's really a shame for a dog-friendly city with one of the largest open-air DMV farmers markets to ban pets at that market.
