You'd think they would use their signage to describe what each ice cream contains to slow folks from having samples and asking so many questions. Ice cream should not be this hard. MY SELECTION: After 30 minutes standing in line I got one scoop of a safe flavor that's technically Vanilla (I don't recall what they call it), and one scoop of Texas Layer Cake in a waffle cup. For $11 I was stunned how small the scoops were. I am value spoiled because for that price my fav places pack the whole cup. THE TASTING: Now I dig into to see what's the high rating all about. Hmm, well, the waffle was really thin and not much flavor. The scoop of vanilla was small and had ice bits in it. The scoop of Texas Layer Cake was technically chocolate ice cream with a little cake bits in it. I am unsure why they call it layer cake since there was nothing layered about it -- misleading fluff. Both scoops of ice cream were small and really sweet. I say this because halfway eating the ice cream I was getting a headache and my watchband got tight. I had to loosen my watchband and immediately drink electrolytes to offset the sugar. Overall, Jeni's is not for me and I will not return.

The distance from DC was 12 minutes and we live in Maryland so it's a hike for us. This was our first time but certainly won't be our last! We arrived a few minutes before opening and waited outside. The place is run by guys who stand on business, as they were very nice as well as efficient. It was about 4 guys all helping make the wonderful milkshakes, including the guy who rang us up. He also informed me they didn't have the crumbs that went around the jar, but offered graham cracker crumbs in place of it. They call out your order at once it comes up and you can watch them making orders live. The Milkshakes: The milkshakes are as delicious as they are visually appealing. They delight both the eyes and tastebuds as they have many different varieties to choose from as well as other scrumptious treats. We loved our Short n Sweet strawberry shortcake shake as it included a generously-sized piece of pound cake, strawberries and whipped cream, with frosting and graham cracker crumbs coating the rim. We were also able to get a few pictures of others milkshakes which included things like brownies and donuts atop them. We also loved the consistency and thickness of the milkshake they were not watery and soupy they were thick and creamy like you would expect a high quality Gourmet milkshake to be. This is what sets this place apart from other so-called milkshake places is they have Stellar customer service, efficiency and overall variety and quality of options as there is something here for everyone. Ordered a large cold pumpkin spice chai, freaking incredible. Ordered an Americano. Didn't except anything crazy however they didn't have that bite to it that most coffees do. Or maybe that's just Starbucks. Anyway sugar, lids and honey are on a counter but half and half/milk etc is not. Ordered the "Manhasset" egg sandwich, very good. Came with a nice little salad in the place. It was appx $20.00 for the sandwich. Coffees were around $6.95 each. I'm now up to $30.00 for a sandwich and two coffees. Oh, they have these gooey moist puffy cookies. If you buy nothing else, get the cookie ($7.00) and a coffee. So now I'm up to $40.00 not including tip. Atmosphere: Modern and metropolitan, which I would expect from a location derived from NY. I adored the black and white tile. This is the same tile in my family's upstairs bathroom, built in 1910 Queens. So it felt like a little sense of home. Because of work, I live in Alexandria. The different tea selections in comparison to the prices the value I couldn’t see. It seems over priced for what you receive. I started to try to ask for the manager or supervisor as I realized this might not get handled appropriately since he was continuously yelling and not letting me express my concerns, and he informed me he was the manager. He continued to shout and interrupt me to inform "It's national donut day, i don't want to deal with this" - mind you, that is why i ordered the donuts for my office. I am only disappointed as I just wanted him to understand that when you do not assign a delivery driver, and my order is running late, as the customer, i have the right to express concern over my order/money and I have a right to call back after they hung up one me.
