The price is a bit of a shock, but I thought it was worth it. Free parking, lots of exhibits. My 3 year old and 8 year old loved the penguins and seals. I loved the jelly fish room with the neon lights. There are a couple rooms and tunnels perfect for pictures with sharks and larger fish. They have a stingray touch tank, but good luck with that. I think the stingrays are done with people. If you actually take time to look around, you'll need about 90 minutes. We did a quick vacation over Labor day weekend. It was packed. Every time I go, the staff are so friendly, inviting, and informative. The rainforest and aquarium periods are well maintained, and the animals all look happy and healthy. I got the pleasure of speaking to a member of the staff, named Linda, in the rainforest pyramid and she went above and beyond to tell me facts about the animals and make sure I saw so many amazing things. She was kind and encouraged any questions I had. The other staff I saw throughout the park were friendly as well and had a good repertoire with the animals and other staff members. It was so bad that families were running inside while the husbands stood in line to buy tickets. They were so bad they would hide in my daughter’s hair and still come out when we were inside and bite us. Made the trip not worth it. I would suggest putting mosquito air blasts at the entrances of the pyramids and maybe mosquito zappers all over the place. My kids are covered in bites now on the way home. They arnt even talking about how they had fun just how much they itch and hurt from the bites. Also keep in mind the weather is not even humid as it hasn’t rained in weeks it’s like 85 and dry outside so I can only imagine if it was hot and humid.

Tons of train cars and cars to walk through and explore. Lots of displays showing how life was on the cars and what was commonly used on them. Staff was very nice, no wait to see anything, and there’s free parking. The only thing that did surprise me, maybe because the Rosenberg museum spoiled us, was there’s only two small rooms of model trains. There are shelf’s with tons of model trains but they are on display, unlike Rosenberg who has built huge working city like displays to show them off. Overall though, the kid loved it and would come back again. We didn’t get to enjoy it but if we would have came the next day they do offer some sort of train rides.

Lovely house. We received an upgrade because the room we booked had electrical issues. Joselyn, the hostess is very personable. Our favorite part of Bed and Breakfast is the breakfast. This week of hands-on skills learning, classes, and input from all the the seasoned sailors gave me the ability to have the confidence I needed to pass the keel boat certification course test. My husband ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and asparagus and we nearly passed out because it was that good. We also got a side order of the shrimp stuffing balls—think hushpuppies stuffed with shrimp. They were fantastic! Creme Brulee for dessert was also great. Portions were perfect, we didn't finish anything. Price was honestly under what we expected and spent less than $90 for 2 entrees, side order of stuffing balls, and dessert. Environment was fantastic and I so much to look at in there! We can't wait to come back and hopefully get Dwayne! With a larger group there is an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, and many servers who know this might not really hustle...BUT our waitress, Guinevere, really shone through. It was an hour and 20 minutes before the plates started arriving. Not sure why, but there might have been a shortage of kitchen staff. My wife and I both got the blackened reddish tacos. We each received 4 small tacos with maybe a teaspoon of snapper inside. While there was a lot of different "stuff" in each taco, there was not actually a large quantity of the "stuff". The tacos tasted good but they were very small and overpriced at $17 per order. Each little corn tortilla was maybe 3 inches in diameter. We ordered a side of fries and received maybe 20 fries for $6. The person sitting across the table from us received a steak that was raw in the middle, after they had ordered a well done steak. Being called the Bishop’s Palace, we thought we would learn about this building’s use as the Bishop’s Palace. This place is awesome. The atmosphere is mid to high end steak house vibe. We sat on the porch so we could see the boats. Our waiter Robert was amazing. When we arrived at the hostess booth, both attendees were a little sour. No smile, no pleasantness. That always amazes me how it is so natural to be like that. I worked in the restaurant business at their age (or maybe younger) and I can never imagine not smiling and greeting the guests. Different world today for sure! We were seated in a nice booth. The table linens suggested a fine dining, so I was looking forward to it very much. Our waiter was super nice, but he was so soft spoken and had an accent, it was very hard to understand him. He brought fresh garlic bread to the table and gave us time to review the menu. We decided to split the wedge salad, bowl of lobster bisque. and an appetizer of shrimp Cabo. Our salad came out first. We told the waiter we wanted to split before it was brought to our table. It arrived on one plate and the waiter handed me an additional plate. He said he told me they do not do splits in the kitchen. Maybe he did tell us. I couldn't hear him. Regardless, I have never been told they do not so splits. I get it that it might seem to them as cheap to them. It's not that. Neither of us can eat a full seafood meal and we didn't want to drive back to Houston feeling tired after a heavy meal. It was served on a bed of onion straws and corn kernels. The bacon that wrapped the shrimp was crispy and the shrimp itself was very tasty. That item was easy to split since it arrived on a boat plate. There are four to an order. Easy to split between two people. When were were ready to leave, I gave my Landry's card information and asked the waiter about the parking situation. He said something about his manager, looked to the direction of his manager, wrote the plate number down, said something else, then walked away. He was terribly hard to understand, even in a quiet restaurant. When he came back with our check, I asked again about the parking and he made a gesture that it was taken care of and we were good. My son read almost every single exhibit which is something he doesn't normally do in museums. There is a scavenger hunt if you want a challenge. Be sure to ask for the paper when you first ever the rig. 👍 They request that you keep an eye on your children because there are some areas especially the catwalk on the third floor that young children should not be left alone on. It's not unsafe, but it is high up. Check out the locker on the third floor for an experience of being a rig worker and grab some gear for dress up!

There's a lot of birds to look at, neat fishing spots, kayak launch points, observation tower, beach access on the south side of the park, showers, restrooms, campsites with electricity and water, primitive camp sites, saltwater and freshwater lakes, BBQ pits... all sorts of neat things about this park. Be warned, the park is known to have alligators and venomous snakes, so stay on the trails and be alert during the warm weather months.

They do have an elevator for the elderly or handicapped so this is a plus. (Considering you might have to go back down to dine!) So if you are planing to eat here, do NOT accept outdoor seating if near sunset or later. During the day I hear it's fine. You can always get up from your indoor seat and go outside to find the sunset between the houses if you wish. Overall about a 4 out of 10 experience. Maybe on a different day it might be better based on menu, time of day, and seating issues.

They claimed the beach gave them authorization, and they had just towed the car a few minutes earlier, yet were demanding full payment. Water could easily get through that little space, and put water on your bathroom floor, so slightly annoying. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and they truly make you feel welcome at the resort. For a one-night pre-cruise stay, I almost wish we had one more night to finally explore the whole property, even in late December. With the night sleep, amenities, and cleanliness all being great, it was hard not to like San Luis Resort. We are also LSC members. This time we booked one of the few two bedroom suites on the condo side, owned by the San Luis condos. Danielle helped us immensely to decide between two rooms at the hotel vs the suite by allowing us to look at it before hand. 17th floor! Gorgeous and perfect for the other two couples visiting that we were hosting for one night. Skylar told us to call the day of and we could possibly check in earlier than the 4 pm so we did. Brandon was very accommodating. When we checked in about 12:30 it was very warm in the rooms, so we cranked the air down and went out for groceries. When we returned it was still warm so we called Brandon and he sent Armando up from engineering. Long story short both AC units needed servicing, one needed lines flushed and the other needed Freon. Than goodness we were able to check in early, thank goodness Debbie in the condos section called Roberts Air in the nick of time! By 7 it was finally cool. The rooms were about $400 each. Everyone did their best to rectify the situation. We probably could have had the early check in fee waived but we didn’t ask as we were on our way to breakfast with our friends. The suite was wonderful. Comfy beds, lots of towels, stoneware, flatware and pots and pans . Nice Keurig. Immaculate and clean! Highly recommend this condo! Minimalist decoration very well done. Separate entrance and free parking for condos. Wristbands given with QR codes so all hotel amenities could be enjoyed and also allows access to elevator. Cleaning fee was an extra charge.

They are not the sea but ..they are gorgeous. To compare this beach though is tough. It was very HOT. You have to walk over the Seawall to get to the beach and you have to pay to park along the street. If you don’t bring anything with you they have umbrellas and chairs to rent by the hour. Also they have icee’s and other beverage carts walking along the beach. This is NOT A wheelchair accessible beach. It would be very difficult at best. Water here is green and murky and it is like tepid bath water …at least in July. It is also dirty. Lots of trash along the walkway which finds its way to the beach. We only encountered seagulls and no other wildlife along this beach. Not even good for shelling.

The history of the Grand Galvez alone warrants a stay but the cute layout and service are worth a long stay. There is a wonderful coffee shop (1911) inside the hotel that has unique coffees and good pastries. They also have a dining space, too. The rooms match the beach vibes and have unique elements such as Nespresso machines and rainfall shower heads (may not be in all rooms). It's a quick walk across the street to the beach and Murdoch's so you can get your sunbathing in and souviners at the same time. It's also within walking distance of some excellent seafood restaurants, too. I was here for a conference and the food was great!
