Ideal for a date or a classy yet casual catch up with pals. A great selection of pints that are local, broader UK, continental Europe, and classics. They always have at least one gluten free beer on tap at a time, this time was the Brightside Bitter, but often have an alternative option. There are food options for all with the menu having extensive catering for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. The staff are allergen aware and I have never had a problem eating here. They offer veggie and GF savoury pies and roasts, and GF fish and chips, as well as desert options which is a rare treat. The good is reliably hot and tasty, never rushed. They can run out of popular dishes especially by late on a Sunday, but that is to be expected of a place this busy. I had the crispy beef salad (GF) which was very flavourful and had perfect textures. Parking can be validated to avoid paying anything using an iPad at the bar. Since the booking of the table to secure our Sunday roast during our staying at Manchester, until the closing of the bill. The environment is amazing. Very welcoming, comfortable and the Christmas decoration add a special touch to the meal. What they’ve done outside of this pub is fantastic. It looks so Christmassy and really drove me into wanting to go in, thinking it would be a great Sunday dinner. There is a live DJ playing at the venue every Sunday, the atmosphere is great and very lively but you can still talk easily. The roast beef is served rare/medium rare, or you can ask for it to be cooked for longer to your preference. The Bacon loin is delicious, very juicy and the honey mustard glaze is delightful. The half roast chicken is awesome, also very juicy and the meat comes from the bones very easily. Everything was cooked to perfection! The veggie offerings have also been great, I've so far, only tried the mushroom Wellington and a curry potato pie (for science) but both were super tasty. We wet our whistles with a swift pre meal drink at Founders Hall, a JW Lees establishment but a stones throw from the restaurant on Albert Square. We had the £14 per person buffet (with additional £2 tea and coffee) and the food was great, especially the cheese boards and deserts. I opted for lamb, while they got beef. As you can see in the pic, it came with a very reasonable amount of veg (carrots, roasties, spring greens, parsnips and a bit of cauliflower cheese) as well as a perfectly acceptable Yorkshire pudding. Whilst waiting for our friends to arrive, a staff approached us about their small menu that has shrunken even smaller as many dishes were unavailable. I was quite excited to eat here since I had heard good things, but was drastically disappointed by the service from the staff. Their attitude was disgusting, foul and inexcusable. From the moment we entered we were made to feel like a burden and some sort of eyesore. We hadn't booked and were settling down for a good brunch after a gig last night. My friend and I have worked in hospitality for good few years and we know better than to make a customer feel like they're a pain. All we asked was a table for two - nothing outrageous at all, surely. We were then very disinterestedly handed our menus, before being told our time here was limited. We acknowledged their time constraints, and ordered swiftly. I got the vegan brunch (or whatever it is known as), and it was good, but the service truly left a sour taste in my mouth. We were not provided with cutlery and had to wait a good while to get someone's attention, and when we did, we were met with a stinking face that made us feel like we were an inconvenience again. I am a slow eater, but never have I eaten so fast to get out of an eatery as I did when I dined here. Awful service, disgusting attitudes from all staff - not a single one of them made us feel welcome or comfortable. The only extra thing we asked for was a necessity and yet it was almost as if we had asked them to change our dish entirely. I will never come here again.

Went with my sister and was really looking forward to it. We don’t venture into Manchester much so wanted to have an early booking so booked for 12pm. Drinks came and the waiter managed to spill the Pepsi over himself so had to replace it. Jug of tap water on table and the jug was all stained. Grateful they swapped out fish items to suit our allergies when I asked. Then savoury food came, nothing to rave about and definitely not filling. Sweet food came, and the items on the round circle shelves were vile. The other bits in the bottom tray were okay. Then I asked for another Diet Pepsi and he forgot about us for a good 45 mins, even though at this point there was only 3 tables with people on them. So when he remembered he brought us both a Diet Pepsi on the house. Asked for the bill and my voucher was taken off for the afternoon tea (£45) but the 2 diet Pepsis and a flat white ended up costing £16 something because they threw in a non optional service charge of approx £6.80 or something? Anyway by this point we was ready to leave, again waited nearly 20mins for him to come back with a card machine so ended up walking to bar to pay so we could leave. Wouldn’t go back. The atmosphere and energy of it is magic. Sat on roof terrace which is surrounded with lots of greenery. Super cool music and vibes. Love it. The bar and decor isn't a polished fancy bar. Staff and vibes all LOVELY and can't complain at all about that, but the mains weren't as good as we thought they would be. Had the fried goats cheese starter which was delish and really set the standards high for the roast but unfortunately it wasn't so great. I had the "veggie haggis" which I'm almost 100% sure was actually a quorn roast you just buy in the supermarket. Its not a massive problem cos i like it but it would have been nice to be informed that it wasnt a haggis situation. My yorkshire pudding was burnt and my partners was cold. Carrots were kinda hard and out of the 9 roasties, only about half hit the spot, the rest were a bit hard on the exterior. Would have looooved some more gravy and a bit of pepper, too (I do think if we'd have asked we would have got some pepper to be fair, though). I wonder if maybe a roast isn't exactly their specialty as the starter really was delicious and from pictures online, the charcuterie looks lovely. I wouldn't be put off from trying it again as its a great place with attentive staff, just maybe not for a roast next time.

The taproom itself is where the great vibes start. It's spacious, bright and very well kept. You can tell right away they take great pride in their space. There is plenty of seating inside and they have a beautiful back garden area if you prefer to sit outdoors. The service on this day was bar none, some of the best we experienced on our trip to Manchester. The young woman behind the bar (I believe her name was Amelia) was very friendly, accommodating and had a real passion for the products they sell, offering us samples to ensure we were happy with what we were purchasing. Onto the beer itself...absolutely blew me away. This establishment can hold it's own comparing it to any of the biggest and best anywhere in the world. The selection of pale ales, hazy IPAs and everywhere in between were top tier. We were even lucky enough to be there when they had some fantastic guest taps from a great Vermont brewery called Foam Brewers. I feel I lucked out a bit. 😜 My only small knock is that they didn't have any beer that my wife enjoys on tap. (Nothing fruity or sour) They only had different forms of pale ales, IPAs and a helles lager, but luckily they did have prosecco and that easily made her content so it was a complete non-issue. We checked it out on a quiet Thursday afternoon when the had about 30 keg and 3 draught beers on. They were also doing food, in the form of pizzas, that looked good. We returned on Saturday early evening to find their 'Harvest' festival in full swing. The place was busy and a folk band were banging out good tunes. I'd certainly visit again.
