Wow! What a great place this is - 3 courses for $69. I had the pumpkin to start, beef brisket for main and lemon polenta cake for dessert. The wine was fantastic! We enjoyed the most delicious lunch at Varias – an experience that was both refined and satisfying.
My husband had the tasting plate (Medley of mains) was beautifully presented, each element thoughtfully balanced with texture and flavour. From the crisp, golden sesame-crumbed piece with creamy dressing to the vibrant pickled vegetables and perfectly cooked meats, every bite was a delight. The combinations on the plate felt creative yet harmonious – a real showcase of seasonal produce.
My lunch was equally impressive: a rich, flavoursome seafood stew with tender fish, balanced by the freshness of fennel and herbs, served with rustic grilled sourdough. Comforting yet elegant, it was exactly the kind of dish you want to linger over.
Service was warm and attentive, and the wine pairings were spot-on, enhancing each course without overwhelming the food.

Our yearly visit here from Brisbane once again was outstanding. The wines these young people produce are all fabulous we purchased half a dozen. The restaurant Varias is a must do.We cannot go past the Medley with matching wines it’s always 5 star restaurant quality and again we’re happy to report the food wine service and ambiance of this stunning restaurant is well worth a visit you will not be disappointed.

The whole experience has been thought about and delivered on.
I have introduced the farm to many many people and visited many times from over 2.5 hours away.
I have beautiful memories with my Mum who has now passed, family, friends and my children.
Every year we do the Christmas in July event and it’s always so fun. This year I recently went down with my friend for the VIP night and wow. Just wow. That’s a whole other experience of its own. The twinkling lights of all the stores is amazing. The atmosphere was superb.
Over time I’ve done it all there; Picnics in the Christmas tree fields, feeding the animals with my kids while sipping hot chocolate, Christmas in July, Meeting Santa, harvesting/choosing our own real Christmas tree and VIP nights. Nothing compares to any other Christmas shop I’ve visited. Like many, I am Christmas crazy so the standard is high.
I am across international brands (which GBCF stock) and love that they even have their own line. They have an extraordinary range of Christmas treasures from indoors to outdoors. Ornaments, figurines, florals and picks. It is very obvious that the owners have poured every inch of themselves into every aspect of what they do. The elves (staff) are all exceptional also and have all been there long enough that we are starting to recognise faces each time we visit. That’s obviously a credit to them also.
I realise that the magic and brilliance of this beautiful place doesn’t come easy but please know as a Christmas loving customer, you guys have ‘sleighed’ it.

Hands down the best experience of our trip! Came down to Stanthorpe specifically to visit this farm and it did not disappoint. We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Essen Restaurant in Stanthorpe, and from start to finish, it was nothing short of outstanding.
The set menu, which can be tailored to accommodate food allergies and dietary preferences, is a testament to the chef’s creativity and skill. Every course — from the entrées through to the dessert — was brilliantly cooked, beautifully presented, and absolutely bursting with flavour. The highlight for us was the flathead, which was cooked to perfection. Each segment of the fish was expertly prepared — moist, tender, and full of delicate flavour. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into every dish.
The service was equally impressive. With only one front-of-house staff member on the floor, we were blown away by her warmth, professionalism, and deep knowledge of the menu. She struck the perfect balance between attentive service and genuine hospitality, making us feel right at home.
The BYO option is another great touch, allowing guests to bring their favourite wine to enjoy with the meal — a thoughtful addition in a region known for its local wineries.
While there was a table of younger diners nearby who chose a louder, more boisterous approach to their evening, it didn't overshadow what was otherwise a sophisticated, relaxing, and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.
Essen is a true gem in the Granite Belt — refined yet unpretentious, and passionately committed to delivering high-quality food in a warm, welcoming setting. We can't wait to return.

My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Essen on Thursday night. This restaurant is so welcoming and cosy, you 100% will be impressed by the amazing service and absolutely delicious locally sourced food!
Amy, our waitress, was so lovely, friendly, and helpful. This restaurant is BYO (which we loved), and the staff were very accommodating.
The set menu was a lovely change from thinking about what to order.
All of the dishes were so delicious and well thought out. Every plate of ours taken back to the kitchen was practically licked clean. I could not recommend Essen enough, and this restaurant is definitely one we will visit over and over again. 5 out of 5 absolutely!!!

The Granite Belt Motel is a perfect small motel. It is in a quiet but convenient location. It has been redecorated very stylishly and with great thought to the comfort of guests. My partner and I recently stayed here and it was great. No complaints. The staff were friendly and helpful, the motel itself had such a cute layout with the outdoor seating areas, manicured gardens and swing. I believe it was either staff or the owners who were out gardening and taking care of the place. Shows they care and take pride in their business, definitely reflects in how beautiful the rooms are, the design of the motel, and how clean the whole place is. Our room (premier king) was immaculate and had everything we needed. It is a short walk to town, which is great because you walk pass the lake and get abit of scenery before going out for brekkie, lunch, or dinner. Would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend to friends if they were to travel to Stanthorpe.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July - it was lovely and the food in the restaurant was very good. We stayed here because they have dog friendly cabins and it was perfect for us. Breakfast hampers were wonderful too. The only thing I was disappointed in was the outdoor patio. Because we had our dog we knew we couldn’t sit inside but the patio was terrible- no heating or if they did, it didn’t work, old ramshackle furniture; just completely disappointing. So we froze to death while spending about $150 on dinner. It really wouldn’t take much to make this a cute outdoor area.

Arrived at Whiskey Gully Winery late in the afternoon without a booking on the October long weekend. Had been advised by many tourist spots about the need to book.
My daughter had been here earlier in the day on a wine tour. After her experience she texted and said we should visit as it was great. Our party of 4 were received gracefully even though another group were expected soon. The lady who did our wine tasting experience was very informative and knowledgeable about their products. We arrived is Stanthorpe with information that the wineries ate a must. Our first and very dissapointing stop was here. Firstly the ads all say it is child friendly with animals to feed and bicycles. Not one animal insight and the bicycles wheels are falling off. The lady behind the counter was so unenthusiastic, she was bot interested in selling the wine or even in being friendly. This was the first time my friends and I had been to a winery. We were really looking forward to a relaxing atmosphere and good food and wine. We were really hesitant to go in as something felt off. We took a Filippp’s wine tour to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Bernie our driver gave us a fantastic day. You can tell he has developed good relationships with the winemakers and cellar workers, because we were given warm welcomes and lots of wine knowledge an everywhere we went. We visited 4 wineries, and didn’t taste a bad wine all day.
Our lunch was at a lovely and very busy cafe called Jamworks where they accommodated my vegan diet and had vegan cheeses and all sorts of pastas, sauces, oils and chutneys for sale.
A fantastic day with beautiful wines, great scenery, and a very lovely tour guide. We highly recommend Filippo’s Wine Tours.

We participated in the Wine Lovers tour today, being picked up from our accommodation at 9.50am and returned at 4.15pm, having visited 4 very nice wineries and had a beautiful and sustaining lunch at Jamworks. Bernie, our driver, was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating, so we had plenty of time at each venue and the day flowed smoothly. Each winery charged a separate fee to undertake its tasting sessions, deducted from the purchase price of any wines bought, but participation was voluntary. Bernie safely secured any purchases until the end of the day. Group size was small, so the atmosphere was relaxed and fun throughout the day. We couldn't have asked for a better wine tasting experience in Stanthorpe, at such a reasonable price.

Our meals were delicious! The waitstaff were all very friendly and helpful, the head waitress in particular was so very accommodating and friendly... even my surly teenager commented how nice she was 😂

From the moment we entered, we were spotting wallabies and rosella’s, followed by ducks… what a great start!
Reception staff were super friendly and our accommodation was easy to find. It’s exactly what you want to arrive to when staying in a cooler climate area… timber cabin, fireplace, lovely hot shower, comfy bed and the most beautiful views all round… literally surrounded by gorgeous green landscaped grounds and amazing big granite boulders… an exceptionally special place to stay, really reasonably priced and in a fab location to town! We used to love going here about two years ago. Great service, great food, great beers. I'm not sure what's happened in the last few months but our last 2 or 3 visits have been so disappointing. The waitresses seem bored and unhappy, it feels like you're annoying them when you ask for a table. Today our food was served in a cardboard box on top of a plate. Cold, flacid chips and what appeared to be microwaved nachos. Unfortunately this is our last visit there which is a shame because it is a beautiful spot with great beers. Do not recommend if hungry. Had dinner tonight and like everyone else, found the place to be very disappointing. The dining hall has ZERO character, just bare walls, literally no decor. Popped into Pyramid Road Wines the other morning whilst exploring Stanthorpe. Were greeted by the lovely couple and then went in to try the wines that are currently available. All wines were great. I really enjoyed my time and was so glad that we visited this winery. Just out of town , the setting was stunning.
I must admit was QLD , the wine was also awesome. I do love a winery, and yes , it is not the most fancy winery, but gee it had some good wines.
The Cab Shiraz was just amazing and the Reserve Chardonnay & Shiraz was very very good.
Service was friendly , Ian was so easy to talk too and had great knowledge of wine.
This place also has a small restaurant/ cafe attached to it , so we have some
Tapas which was good to enjoy . I can definitely recommend this place.

An amazing winery and overall experience. My partner and I visited Casley Mount Hutton Winery on a recent wine tour and these guys were by far the best! Their vertical wine tasting, of the same type of wine, but from different years was a fantastic learning curve for a wine tasting novice.
Not only did they have an incredible selection of wines for tasting, their ‘behind the cellar door’ experience with a quick tour of their laboratory allowed customers to get a much better understanding of how their wine is made. A special mention must be given to the wonderful host who let my partner and I label a bottle of Shiraz each. We have committed to leaving these for 10/20 years, allowing us to remember the amazing experience we had at Casley Mount Hutton Winery.

I visited this winery with a few friends over the weekend. It was one of the best experience I have ever had in Stanthorpe. The winery itself is simply stunning inside and out. Due to the storm brewing over we sat inside and the pleasure of being served by sonya the owner who I think the verdihlo wine should be name after as she is the one who created this wine. I loved all the wines, the chardonnay was fantastic, the sauvignon blanc I could drink all day. The verdihlo was by far my favourite it was silky smooth rich and full of flavour I will be going back to grab more bottles of the sonya verdihlo very soon. If your in Stanthorpe this is a must stop vineyard

My friends and I had a wonderful time listening to Brad share his expertise while tasting his large collection of red wines. We loved his laid back approach and chatty nature. We weren’t short of wines or laughs. The grounds were beautiful at this time of year and the colourful trees made for some great photo ops.
