I ordered the mixed grill - I was asked how I wanted my steak cooking I asked for medium but it was well done, the gammon was overcooked and my egg was rock solid in the middle. I didn't say anything as its only pub grub but I still think the steak should have been cooked medium the gammon less cooked and the egg runny - surely the cook knows the difference and if overcooked would just replace the egg? It tasted fine just the steak was chewy as overcooked. We were asked if the meal was ok which we said yes as it wasn't terrible. But then towards the end of our meal we were chatting and the waitress came over and went to take our plates but we weren't finished so had to ask she didn't which was a little awkward. We ordered desserts which were fine and served quickly so that part was good. Overall 5/10 a point or two deducted for the long wait for the food when not busy, a point or two deducted for the mixed grill issues and one knocked off for taking plates without asking if we were finished first. :-)

Food order was quick to arrive. This was our first time visiting this cafe and it was enjoyable. I visited on Friday with my husband, this cafe has been highly recommended by a few friends so we thought we would give it a go…we certainly weren’t disappointed! While the prices might seem high at first glance, remember you’re paying for the amazing quality. We would pay it again and again. Our coffees were lovely, food was piping hot, beautifully presented and plentiful, served in record time. I must make a point about how lovely the staff are. We had the pleasure of being greeted, seated and served our food and drinks by a young waitress called Grace. She really stood out to us as she was incredibly professional and welcoming with a lovely smile. We had a giggle with her as we were naughty and ordered two bakes to take home (which were delicious by the way!). It was evident that Grace takes pride in her work, which was refreshing to see. As we were leaving, she checked in with us to make sure everything was up to standard and thanked us for our visit. Thank you Grace for your lovely service and for making our visit so memorable! When I brought this issue to the staff I was then gaslit by the staff, the chef tried to cover his own rear by saying that they don't actually cook the chicken - it comes pre-cooked and therefore it couldn't be raw. Pointing at the raw piece of chicken he then said it must be a vein and it's supposed to look that way. It is definitely not, anyone could see that it was raw and about to walk off the plate. He then sent me back to the table with raw chicken expecting us to eat which is absolutely absurd. If someone actually believed him they could have caused serious illness. After sitting at the table waiting for my nan to finish her food we were offered a scone as an apology. Yet when the waiter came back she said she had spoke to the chef and googled that in fact, chickens have veins which obviously everyone knows, it's the raw chicken we were complaining about. The genuine incompetence of the chef team in the kitchen was baffling, a ticking time bomb for a health and safety nightmare when they eventually cause food poisoning to someone.

Just across the road from the market entrance, it looked small and unassuming on the outside, but inside it was homely and inviting, with comfortable chairs and some lovely decorative plaques and pictures of bygone Fleetwood on the walls. No fewer than six different vegetables on the plate, and lovely rich gravy. The pot of tea was nice and hot. They also do a great selection of traditional puddings and ice-cream. Tried their homemade apple crumble with custard, and it was really good! Delicious strong coffee to finish. Payment was cash only. At £15.10 for the entire meal, including drinks, it was excellent value for money. If you're looking for good traditional homemade food and warm, friendly hospitality, you can't go wrong here. Fish quality was incredible! Sooo fresh and juicy. But where’s the batter? It’s practically nonexistent, so nonexistent that I can’t even rate the batter :( As soon as I opened the box I was extremely disappointed as I could see the fish fibers/texture throughout the piece. That means it was so thinly battered it couldn’t even be distinguished from the fish it self. Usually you’d be able to separate the batter from the fish, and one satisfying aspect of the fish and chips experience is the option to peel a piece of the batter off and give it a taste. Look at the photos of the other reviews and you’ll see what I mean. I wish I’d had a look at the photos before I went to this chippy :( The chips were ok - cut a bit too short. The fruity curry was good, but too sweet for my taste. Peas were nice, but too solid, like a paste - I like mine a bit runny.

We were then told to put our food on the bin to prepare it (with the sauce) which I pointed out was not the most hygienic and that we’d only be a minute and we were not blocking anyone. He said he didn’t care and kept picking up our food and thrusting the tray at us aggressively. I had my young children with me who were getting distressed at the way this man spoke to me, so I just moved off. In all of this items were also missing from our order, but at this point I get threatened and wanted to leave. I did then hear him speak to the customers behind us in a similar manner when they said they didn’t think his attitude was called for, he then got into an argument with them and ended up refunding their money (but not ours).
