Large portions of delicious food cooked to perfection for around £22-25 per main. The Grange-Over-Sands area has some excellent restaurants, including Michelin starred places where dinner for two will cost you £250-300 or more. Don't bother with those. Visited while in Grange. A lovely park to visit although seemingly cut off on the left side as you are taken away from walking alongside the water to follow a path that skirts the nearby train track. You continue along and then past a car park and back onto the road but we cut back and continued along the other path that took you to the far side of the lake. These beautiful and tranquil gardens were only a couple of minutes walk from our coach drop-off point - and the railway station. It was a pleasure to walk around the large pond and watch the ducks, geese, and seabirds that gather here. Some of the geese had chicks with them. There are info boards with photos of all the different species, making it easy to identify what I saw, but I didn't spot any of the more colourful and exotic ducks I was expecting to see. There's a memorial near the entrance that commemorates the servicemen of Grange who lost their lives in the First World War. Some magnificent mature trees surrounding the pond, including a giant monkey puzzle tree. Paths are smooth and wheelchair friendly, and there is plenty of seating. The toilets were 40p to enter, card payment only. There are some nice shops and cafes close by (some of them selling duck food), and a pay and display car park next to the railway station.

A café definitely worth visiting. Great selection of teas, coffee, food and sweet treats. The toasted sandwiches came with their own tomato and apple chutney which was great. The apple crumble with ice cream and the vanilla milkshake were particularly tasty. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the atmosphere.

This is a cracking café serving a decent range of food. Locateded in the lovely Grange Over Sands, just 60 seconds walk from the little train station, and a five min walk from the main high street. The café adjoins a top notch bakery where you can buy the best cakes in the area.

An absolute delight. I found an old guide in a charity shop when planning our Lake District trip and I’m so glad we visited. It’s huge! Really impressive and guides in ten languages, lots to see and buy in the shop which is very well stocked. Visited this track for the first time as an owner and loved it. Very unique in that all of the activities are in the centre of the course with the track running around the perimeter. It was like a country fare with more eateries than I have seen at any other track. Great views of the track from many parts of the course. Cartmel Races is an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetime. Booking tickets through the official website was straightforward and hassle-free. The races themselves were thrilling to watch, creating an exciting and memorable atmosphere.

Saturday was very busy, where the Bank Holiday Monday seem a little bit less busy.
Depending on how your getting there, you have access to 2 car parks.
Bus / coach takes you into the inner course , where the car park is a little walk into the course.
Betting was easy with alot of stands to purchase your slips
There was a fair and plenty of food and drink outlets.
Prices in my opinion were over priced !!!
Plenty of toilets and alot of staff on hand to help.
Most people took chairs, gazebos with tables for there own food and drink, family friendly.

Came across this brilliant little cafe by accident at lunchtime today. My husband and I had Filipino dishes for the first time and were really impressed. Well cooked and delicious. Our daughter had a cheese and ham toastie and chips, and a luxury hot chocolate and was also really happy. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We visited The Coffee Pot today on Boxing Day. We drove 65 miles from Workington in the north of Cumbria as it's our nearest Filipino eatery. The Coffee Pot serves a mixture of English and Filipino food, with a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages available. Went in the bar 2 days running this weekend. Lots of unwarranted negative comments on here which are false. One saying they were scared? Total rubbish. Ok it is a sports bar so ultimately the audience will be men. However females were in there also. My partner felt safe and was treated as everyone else. Paddy is a top guy, he will explain what the beers are and they are served in tip top condition. Toilets clean and it is very dog friendly. Given only 2 places in Grange to get a pint what are your options. We plan to come again and will have no reservations going to this bar. Friday afternoon had a great chat with a guy partially sighted guy called Grant and his mate and another called Mark all curious what we were doing here and why but in a very nice way. Made us feel very welcome. Support local businesses or you lose them!

Arrived to see one of the patrons continually spitting off of the balcony cum smoking area on the. The pedestrian pathway below.
Once that hazard was negotiated, the bar staff were very pleasant and friendly however the rest of the patrons nearly all men seated at the bar staring into their pints and shouting expletives at each other.
I'm no prude but the excessive aggressive swearing was totally unnecessary and unwelcome.

We had a great family out exploring Holker Hall and Gardens. The gardens are stunning as the Hall. It is great that the gardens and courtyard are dog friendly. We also enjoyed a lunch at the restaurant. Nice selection of food and everyone is very welcoming.

I can’t rate this highly enough, I had an amazing experience and no doubt I’ll be visiting again. Access is up a narrow track but very clear route details are provided after booking so found it easily enough. You are greeted at the gate by the owners, Dee and Dan, and advised where to park. I went on my own but there are a small group of people sharing the experience with you. You’re then given a briefing on some very important do’s and don’ts. The wolves arrive on leashes and they are encouraged by Dan and Dee to howl, a sound which always gives me goosebumps. They are then passed over to you. They are on split leads which 2 people handle per wolf. It’s a very sedate walk around a field and up a small hill but you are reminded of how powerful they are when you try to encourage one to keep up with the rest of the pack, they will not be moved!!! After the walk you are invited into their enclosure and they are allowed to roam free with you. There, you’re given the opportunity to be photographed with them and to give them treats and as much fuss as they can take. Watching a wolf roll over for a belly rub makes you almost forget the animal you’re dealing with but they are so friendly and at no point did I feel intimidated or fearful. You can see how happy and well cared for they are and it’s very clear to see how much the owners care about not just the wolves they have but about educating and changing peoples misconceptions about these amazing animals, they pretty much dedicate their lives to their work. Dan and Dee are very knowledgeable and you will learn a lot from your visit, I have to say my concentration on the education side was distracted slightly when I was holding the leash as I couldn’t take my eyes off them. Our visit ran over the hour so you didn’t feel like the owners were clock watching and rushing you, they finished when they finished. I encourage everyone to visit, it’s a special experience that I will never forget.

Had the absolute time of our lives here in the may bank holiday. Me and my son were sharing our birthday and had so much fun. So many things to do. Lots of parking available, toilets, cafe and hand washing facilities and let's not forget the delicious ice cream shop. Outstanding value for money. We had a great day out here. Very well kept, the animals were looked after, the maze was fantastic and lots of fun. Plenty to do. I was a little worried my 3 year old might not have much to play on but I was wrong, there's plenty of play for him and feeding animals. Great day out and the prices are good for what you get. We thought it would only keep us busy a couple of hours but we ended up there the whole day (probably helped the weather was dry, but what a gorgeous spot on a sunny day!) We brushed the ponies, went on a tractor ride (which had some really interesting facts about the farm), fed the animals, played on everything, and enjoyed the soft play. I would have given it 5 stars but felt the kitchen was a little bit of a let down, the food was good but just took so long (for only 1 panini and chips!) Would recommend and will definitely be back, but would take a picnic next time to avoid hangry children (we live 1hr 20 away and it's worth the drive). Staff were lovely and friendly around the farm too!

Just went for the first time today. Wasn't expecting much but to my surprise it was a whole lot more than just a farm! They also had go karts bouncy castles and big slade type slides! My favourite was the tractor ride the queue was a bit lengthy but it was so worth it! Beautiful scenery absolutely love this place! Staff were really nice and friendly. The only little downside were the sinks, which had really hot water in some places after you fed animals etc. Overall it was a brilliant 3 hours spent and i would definitely love to come back again!

Really good family day out. The admission price included other activities such as the water balloons etc. This is very commendable as it meant no hidden costs for families, a rarity today. Families could spend a good half a day at the attraction and get great value for money. We visited as a group of 21 ranging from 5mths old to oooh, 70+ and everyone enjoyed it. Thank you. Beautiful fell. Limited parking in lay-by’s at bottom by grange golf club. There are a few different routes up & down. The main one up is very steep but it’s over over quite quickly. Great for dog walks and stunning panoramic views of the bay and mountains. You can climb the Hospice at the top but steps are very steep. There is also a small seating area inside the hospice if it’s too wet and windy. The route I take is 1 mile up and 1 mile back (slightly different route up and down though). Great for dog walks and scenery but there are often cows and sheep on the fells so dogs need keeping under control. There are a few stiles to navigate so not a great walk for people with limited mobility.

Do not follow Google maps to the 'parking area' as it is a little lane leading to a grass field. No private signs or closed gates but you will face and torrent of abuse from a female claiming to 'own this land'. We were cautious entering the field and simply turned around to look for a better parking space, then noticed the female so approached her for advise to be verbally abused.

While staying in the area and as the weather was going to be cold but sunny we had already decided to have a go at this walk . We parked at the hampsfell road carpark as it's easier to start from there and we really didn't know what we were letting our selves infor. All I can say is it is well worth the effort and it's uphill all the way but the views are wonderful and probably the best in the South Lakes . A good mix of coastline, mountains and forest. Definitely one 1⃣ to do !!
