If you do then, like us during our recent visit, you'll be glad you did. The Joshua Tree is a small family run Café & Bistro nestled in one of Kendals oldest Yards in a historic 16th century building. Here we found a warm welcome, great service and some lovely food at an affordable price. The produce is locally sourced and freshly prepared by the team in the upstairs, small and open kitchen area. The menu is unpretentious but with a great selection of what I would call traditional British fare. The homemade soup of the day was delicious, the vegetarian quiche delightful and the chicken, leek and mushoom pie superb. All served by pleasant and efficient, but not intrusive, staff in a wonderful quirky setting. The low ceilings, nice wood burning stove, and open wooden staircase leading to the upstaurs dining area all help to make this a nice venue for us to enjoy a lovely lunch.

Ordered x5 items from the menu for a table of two which was the right amount. Valencian chicken was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Calamari - some of the best I've ever had. Tortilla - flavourful and a generous size portion Vegan albondigas - great to see something like this on the menu, the spicing on the chickpea meatballs was amazing. Pisto con huevo - we chose the vegan options without the huevo but again the dish was super tasty and cooked very well. Just a shame we didnt have more people with us to try/order more dishes from the menu!

Loaded "dirty" fries were very good. Barista-style coffee (oat latte) was okay, just a bit cool for my liking. Plenty of chilled water brought to the table. We had English breakfast tea, a slice of carrot cake, and a flat white—and everything was wonderful. What also made it special, was the setting. In the principal first-floor room, we marvelled at the exposed 16th-century roof timbers which had halved overlapping purlin members and a vernacular ridge arrangement and principal ridge beans—clearly assembled from reused timbers spanning different centuries. A real treat for lovers of old architecture. There’s also an outdoor niche by the entrance, covered and cosy, and another partly covered courtyard where everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves—sipping coffee and soaking in the atmosphere. We’ll most definitely be recommending it—and we’ll certainly be back when in town again. One recommendation is though for the coffee to be hotter as mine was not hot enough but otherwise it was good. You do have to queue (minimum wait) for carvery but the staff plate it for you, it's then handed to you so that you can add gravy and condiments. Nice enough place but the atmosphere was a little bit drab, something just felt a bit off. We only ordered one main but it took an hour to come. The marinated olives were delicious so it gets a point for that. However the main, which was the seafood paella was far from enjoyable. Our food literally had not been seasoned, someone forgot to add any salt to it so that in itself is going to destroy any dish. The actual produce was overcooked/had absolutely no taste. The shop with its enormous selection of teas and coffees is what you come in to first, with more gifts and merchandise up a few stairs out the back. The building itself is a real feature, with creaking old patched together timber floors and timber beams. It meanders upwards for about three or four storeys. This one did not disappoint. Full of Olde Worlde charm (exposed wood beams etc) and everything you would expect from an authentic tea room experience. Staff super helpful and managed to find a table in spite of what was clearly a busy service. Menu was varied and interesting, and the order came to the table in good time (considering the previously mentioned busy service) I had the Cumberland sausage swirl in a bun, a round of sourdough toast with marmalade (couldn't decide so I had both), washed down with a cup of Earl Grey tea. All was absolutely delicious. The shop on the premises so that you could buy some of what you tried ( but sadly not the sausage) was a nice touch. Would definitely consider this a highlight of my Kendal visit and would return given the opportunity.

I had the Cheese and Onion Pie with 'Shoestring' chips and enjoyed every bit of it. Even the veg! The menu is quite varied and looks to cater for lots of different diets. I really enjoyed the garlic bread and Chicken 'popcorn' as well as the calamari. I don't see any sign of discrimination nor bad food as other reviews have suggested. Staff are friendly and kind. We asked we could have the tunna sandwich as a toasted one and they said no problem. We had 2 soup&sandwich deal, 2 mugs tea and one sweet potato fries and we paid £24. I think it is a good price, and we left the place with feeling we are full. Now the soup was chicken leek and corn, was nice (but i liked better the other, we ate there months ago, that was chunky vegetable.) I think you can see on the photos how nice is the presentation of our food. And those not just looked nice, they were very tasty too. Sandwiches were rich as the soup too. Sweet potato fries crunchy outside but soft inside. Very nice no oily at all. Toilette are correct and clean. Gentleman downstairs, ladies upstairs (but i don't think so there is another downstairs for disabled people). Enough table inside and as i saw well they can serve bigger group upstairs. Menu: large selection and varied. Traditional hot food, from soup through burgers, pastas, fish&chips, scampi... etc. And a lot of desserts. They accept card and cash too. Tip jar is at the till. You pay at the till desk when you leave. I suggest if you are in Kendal and would like a lunch/brunch then pop in this place.

My salad was brown and my partner’s “ultimate filled” Yorkshire Pudding was like the sole of a shoe it was so rubbery and not so ultimately filled. Cracking driving range facility with some really good tech and great prices on balls and pretty cheap to rent some clubs for the day. All of the staff were lovely and plenty of people on the driving range took the time out of their day to help me with my swing as i'm only just starting out. The club shop was really well stocked and the staff were very helpful too. On to the food, we sat outside overlooking the 18th green and got to watch some cracking shots while enjoying some lovely food as well. Loads of choice on the menu. I had the classic burger (pictured) which was lovely and my partner had a brilliant pizza one of the best i've had in a while! The staff in the restaurant were lovely and kind and welcoming too. The prices of the food were relatively good value and the coffee was nice too. We were seated quickly and it wasn’t too long before our order was taken. The drinks came quickly and after a short wait our meals arrived. They have a wide range of menu options for you to choose from. While you wait you can see your food being prepared in front of you since the kitchen is behind the counter, I thought that was pretty cool as that's usually never the case, this gave me confidence I was going to have good food. The food was really good and very flavoursome, I would've tried more if I could fit more in me.
