The service was very good despite it being busy. The food was well cooked and tasty and the drink was lovely (of course, being Pedigree). First night I had the fruit de mer- which was fantastic and very satisfying serving size with the different seafood components and would give it 5 stars. The food was excellent and the decor is gorgeous. I also love the outdoor area with the view onto the water, and across Haworth. We were thankful for getting in and advised that being by the door, people would be coming in and out all the time. This was the case, but we knew the score so it was fine. I felt sorry for the lady welcoming people as she had to constantly close the door as people failed to understand it was their job to do so when they walked in (basic manners that evade a lot of people unfortunately). The soup we both had was excellent and sandwich was too. We had gingerbread lattes which were excellent as well. Overall a very nice place and definitely worth a visit. In a cosy, intimate but classy setting, 10 gave me and my friend the most incredible cakes. There was much to like about it: the cosy lounge with its olde-worlde decor, comfy seating, convivial atmosphere, and a lovely view of the quaint and cobbled main street from the window seats. We refused to pay the extra as we felt the cost was enough to cover extra gravy when asked, only to be told that the gravy allocated was enough for the meal! Needless to say the Yorkshire pudding was like eating cardboard because of the lack of gravy that they allocate! It was a shame that our meals were spoilt because of a bit more gravy! It seems that they have been asked for more gravy before as it states on the black board that gravy is £2 for extra! But we didn’t think it would apply to the Sunday dinner as we have NEVER been refused extra gravy anywhere before! This was a nice meal spoilt! We wont be going again! There are other places near by that serve Sunday lunches and don’t refuse a small jug of gravy that would have made this meal perfect! 28th September 2025! I hope the management takes notice of this it just is a petty way to treat customers! This was the amount of gravy we were allocated and were declined any more than this without paying a further £2! A set of towels was left on the bed and I have never seen thinner or smaller towels . We saw one person briefly upon check out but she disappeared while we were loading our car and we just left our key on the chair she was last seen sitting in. Also a closet door in the “lobby” was perpetually left open to showcase clutter and God knows what .. hoarder stuff.. so lovely to look at . The one positive was the mattress was comfortable . Not exactly in alignment with what I'd hoped for the setting of a romantic Brontë getaway, but it just about worked. Not a fan of the set up: that no one was around when we came, and that we had to talk to someone through the com to know how to get in. Anxiety. They suggested there was a black business card to put on the dashboard of our car, to park at the neighbouring hotel. There were no business cards. More anxiety. Also, the hotel website suggested we'd have to pay them to park at a neighbouring hotel's parking lot, while the neighbouring hotel who owns it doesn't charge anyone for parking! That's cheeky. It was a pretty nice-looking entrance, and a nice looking bar and dining area, though the stairs could do with re-carpeting. I don't recall, in those three days, witnessing a bar-tender. At one point, it seemed the hot water ran out, and while we didn't need it at that moment, I thought that if someone had needed it to wash, there'd be no one to help as no one was around. Personally I didn't feel I would want to call the phone numbers on the wall lest I get a grumpy or tired person who has to explain how to fix something. It's bad service. I did feel the room was a little grubby, and I didn't necessarily feel comfortable using the blankets, pillows, or cupboard. The toilet basket was very dusty, and I didn't feel comfortable putting our toilet paper in that. That's a very easy fix for those at the Registry. The towels were too thin. The plughole was stiff and would pop out, meaning some hot water was wasted when trying to fill the bath. We did both like the bath separately. We could hear some noise from the neighbours both above and across, but we didn't experience any real issues. Watch out for the rather large spiders too. Lol. We had two of the same variety - one had unknowingly been tread on and the other we flung out the window. Bit creepy - and I'm good with spiders! They did not serve porridge, which seems like a no-brainer and was a bit shocking and a let down. Aside, we were both, as vegans, made to feel a bit uncomfortable - like it was annoying... or like we couldn't trust them to accommodate us. We specifically asked for the vegan alternative Full-English breakfast and the waiter came out with two large fried eggs on the plate, which felt like a farce. We were left to wonder if it was deliberate. They sorted it out, but it awkwardly confirmed our initial worries. The breakfast was otherwise fine I suppose. They had green tea! Do feel the Northerners at the other tables got better treatment which felt odd. It was an okay experience all in all. Good location. Could be better if they invested in it a bit more.

The service was terrible from the get go. We was waiting around to be seated when we got there (4 of us),a customer had to tell a member of staff that they have customers waiting at the front desk. Once we got seated and was ready to eat we noticed the orange juice wasn’t on the buffet as tea and orange juice was always a part of their buffet but now only do tea.. my husband wasn’t impressed as he doesn’t drink tea. We also asked the waiter as we thought maybe they forgotten to bring it out, for him to then say we stopped doing it (fair enough) my husband drank water instead. They also stopped refilling the buffet at 12:00pm even though breakfast time doesn’t finish till 1pm.. there was hardly anything left, loads of food was empty.. we gave them some time thinking maybe it’s getting cooked, but nothing was brought out and staffs was busy chatting away to each other. Once we went to pay, the manager asked “how was everything?” so we told him politely.. he had nothing to say and walked away and told the waiter to take our payment and left which we found quite rude.. why ask how your service was when you can’t take complaints. The atmosphere of the place is gorgeous, really cosy and homely and the log burner upstairs is a lovely touch. Range of options on the small plates menu was great, perfect pub food; but sadly a few items were not on the menu really early on in service (like 10 mins after service started!) We were disappointed by the offer. What we had was tasty, but paying £7 for four tiny fried cheese curds is an absolute rip off, even considering this is in the middle of a tourist zone. Loaded fries were nice, but were basically just fries with sauce, not what I would consider “loaded” and not worth the £9 we paid for them. Tacos were nice but again, £8 for two little ones was steep and more than we’d pay in an actual Mexican restaurant. However on the brighter side the mulled cider was lovely and really did the trick on a chilly day. The staff were polite, but clearly very stressed. Not keen on taking further orders for drinks and far too run off their feet to really provide much service. We asked to sit at the bar for a drink while we waited for a seated table to open up and they definitely weren’t keen on us being there. Disappointing as we were both looking forward to visiting based on glowing reviews! Hire more staff and give your current staff a raise, it looks like they need it.

Lovely cold bottled beer. Friendly staff and good service. Nice limited menu choices. Starter of cheesy garlic mushrooms was nice. Disappointed with the flavour of the beef with olives and red wine, it was a bit bland. Also the lamb tegine had more flavour however the couscous was a bit overcooked. Worth a visit but meals could do with a bit more flavour for our taste.

The 1 star I gave is for the lovely young lady on the bar at the time as she was lush but the food was a different story. I ordered two starters instead of a main meal. My prawn cocktail was OK but nothing flash. Tasted nice enough but fingers crossed I don't wake up with food poisoning as the rest of the food was just awful. I ordered duck spring rolls off the specials board but honestly, they were so tiny and totally over done or they'd been reheated many times. I couldn't taste any duck, only really hard and chewy batter. It was on a bed of salad but it was just soggy lettuce and lots of soggy grated carrot. When they brought it, they told my son there's been a mix up with his food so will have to wait longer. (THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE EATING IN THERE!) In fact there was only two ladies having a drink and then a party of three or four came in for drinks on their walk. Also by this point we'd been in there 40 minutes already and if it was so quiet and no one else eating, how on earth can they forget the other meal!? My son had to sit and watch me eat my prawns. He tried the duck rolls too and agreed. They finally served my son after another 20 mins and his chips were exactly the same. Totally over done, burnt and chewy. When I went to pay at the end, the man asked if everything was OK so I obviously told him not really. I was quite polite only mentioning the awful spring rolls and chips as well as the wait for food, having to eat both our meals alone watching the other and he didn't even offer me anything off! I could kick myself for not insisting he knocked us something off, I think I was in total shock and just paid when he handed the card machine over! Definitely don't recommend. The menu online looks great! Nothing like the actual food they serve.
