We ordered the Sweet & Sour Beef and Bombay chicken. Probably the worst sweet & sour hakka item I have ever tried. I felt the beef wasn’t seasoned properly, tasted bland and saltless even though it was dipped in the sweet sauce. There was huge disconnection between the sauce and the beef. (1/10) Bombay chicken was still not bad. More on the crispy side and dry. (6.5/10) The restaurant was pretty busy. 10% service charge was added at the end. We went as a family with our infant (who didn’t eat a bite), and still got slapped with a 10% “service charge” just for being a group of five? Since when do infants count toward party size? We ordered a lot of food, yet when we asked for a couple extra takeout containers because theirs wouldn’t close when filled, the staff started arguing and counting boxes like it was gold. Yesterday I had my dental work done and I was asked to have something soft. I felt like having the chicken corn soup since it is yummy and healthy. So I went all the way from Bowmanville to Whitby to get it. When I got home and I eagerly I opened the lid and started having it I was very disappointed. The soup was as if it was leftover and had water added to it. There was no taste at all. It was a real disappointment. I felt really unhappy and mad because i desperately wanted something which I was craving for and this was a major disappointment. My sincere advice to you guys is that any food industry who wants to stay in the business has to be consistent in the quality and freshness of the food they make because food is a very important thing which can directly impact one's health. It is a repeated business. If you want to stay really successful please provide good food and good customer service. This message is not a complaint but an important reminder to you for your success.

I took out cilantro and maybe I could ask to the kitchen for excluding cilantro. We were excited to find a nice place and have enjoyed the food. The general Tsao chicken was crispy not soggy. Last week we ordered a few dishes. The shrimp with veggies had no shrimp. However, once my fiance got home we couldn't verify what they actually charged us for because there was no order slip. We wouldn't mind as long as they didn't CHARGE us for the shrimp. My favourite dishes are the Shanghai noodles with pork, the chicken balls, which are some of the best I have ever had, and the curry rolls which are super unique, definitely a must try. My wife even commented that it was worse than food court Chinese. Dinner for 4. The cashew chicken was actually beef and tasted terrible. Plus it was basically paper thin peas pods and mushrooms. The house special beef is chunks of beef deep fried into charred oblivion with what tastes like that super cheap HP teriyaki or hoisin sauce. The lid even had the burned beef stuck into it. The BBQ pork was surprisingly crispy on the outside but the meat inside was almost impossible to chew through. The house noodles tasted like they had gone bad, that fermented tang of sourdough. The rice was so so. The spring rolls were barely cooked and needed to be cooked for another 6-7 minutes in the air fryer. There are other much better places to eat. We had chicken balls, chicken wings, egg rolls, spring rolls & general tso chicken. We were impressed with the taste of everything and the large chilli sauce on the side w the wings. I did not find the chicken balls to be rubbery as some of the other reviewers have stated… everything tasted juicy and fresh, the wings are also very good; we were very fond of the breading they use. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but the food was super bland and kind of greasy. I ordered General Tao chicken and it was soggy by the time it got to me. As usual on New Years Eve Cecil was very, very busy to say the least, we ordered 2 combination plates, #4 extra spicy and #6 (regular), when we got home and opened up our order, my wife commented that she could smell our sons extra spicy dish, it turns out she was smelling her dish which for the first time ever was extra spicy, I phoned the restaurant and explained the situation to the person on the phone and asked to speak to Cecil directly, instead he relayed the message that I just wanted some regular non spicy Lo mein like I ordered and told him that it was me on the phone and I wanted to talk to him, Cecil said he couldn’t help me today but would take care of me the next time, normally that would be ok but this left my wife only eating a couple of chicken balls and nothing else We are so upset and disappointed, we have been customers for 20 years but I’m sorry to say Manchu Kitchen has regrettably lost our business, sorry Cecil but this was not a good example of customer service

Place is expensive. Delivery took well over an hour and the guy told me I was his first of 4 stops. Chicken balls were super greasy but also dry and hard as rocks. General Tso Chicken had no flavor and looked like mush. Limp and greasy Egg rolls I didn't even order but was charged for. Rice was dry and crusty. Everything was cold. I assume it was made when I called and sat for almost an hour before delivery. I will never order from here again. Complete waste of money. I threw it all out. See photos. Ugh. 😔 🤮
