Great cocktails and a good wine list with prices you would expect. Unfortunately we were put onto a small table close to the toilets door and although they are upstairs there was a smell of cleaning products. The disabled toilet was not upstairs or locked so people were using it a fair bit and they wasn't a great experience. The place was busy and the staff handled it very well, it's a bustling place so not for a quiet romantic meal, at least not where we sat which is also close to the bar.

The staff are all very helpful and friendly. My slight issue was we ordered cheese burger and they forgot the cheese, not the end of the world, but we told staff and they went and got 2 plates with cheese to add ourselves, I would expect this to be done by the kitchen, not a great standard of customer care. The food was nice, and the chips had a great crunch to them. Overall, it was a nice lunch. I would try again. Service 6/10 due to cheese. Went for a family meal, 6 of us, absolutly great! Just happened to be steak night too, bonus! So the daily specials board was wasted on us. 3 sirloins cooked to how we preferred at a generous £9.99 each. I have to say, the peppercorn sauce was one of the best I have ever had. The Mrs had fish and chips which looked just as good as the steak. The children had the Kids Chicken Nuggets with chips and the opted for beans. We all cleared the lot, even the children, and they can be particularly fussy with food, but their plates too were clean. Most opted for Hot Fudge Cake for dessert, I had vanilla ice cream and cream, yummy. One of us had apple pie and custard. Again clean plates! A lovely meal and we would definitely return. I do believe they are in the process of having a menu update, even more reason to return. All in all, 6 very good meals and desserts with no faults. Dhansak was a new dish to me, so I got it with a side of mushroom bhaji. Both were excellent, but the dhansak was an intense medium spicy that had me sniffling and looking for lassi (the restaurant doesn't serve it). The Salad Garnish was just poorly constructed/presenented the Sauce made up for the blandness to be fair. Sticky Toffee pudding to Finnish, mine was over heated, I could taste the burnt and it was crispy not sticky, as for presentation again just not what fine dining is and I would know.. Every evening a walk down from the harbour, along the seafront, and then to the Bandstand for a few and occasionally a bite to eat. Inside it's a little cosy but has a great vibe. Have only popped into the restaurant out of curiosity, looks very nice although we prefer to be in the heart of things, in the bar. This weird experience already started the day before when we arrived 15.30 to what felt like an empty house. The place is beautiful, but there were no candles lit, no music in the lounge and no people in the reception. First, we waited for some minutes, but then we decided to ring a bell at the reception. We ended ringing it twice and waiting for 10 minutes until we were met by a lady, who said she didn't know where the person working in the reception was and then asked us to wait a bit longer. We waited again, until some other guests came with someone from the staff, person A. As we got in contact with the person A, we were showed to our room. Here we were left alone, with no house tour, no explanation of how anything works etc. We decided to unwind before making it down for drinks and dinner. We sat down by our table, and not long after the chef came to introduce himself and asked about allergies (we were off to a good start here!), but then the food started to arrive, and we had not been asked about drinks - I assume this was because person A was busy helping other guests, but this left my boyfriend to order a bottle of wine when he had the chance to order with person A, instead of the wine menu, as it seemed completely impossible that person A should be able to pull off the wine menu while also doing everything else. This turned out to be a good decision, because it took +30 min for the bottle of wine to arrive, the glasses put on the table for it came out dirty (as we pointed this out they were changed) and we finished the bread and starter without wine. We had s&s chicken Hong Kong style, beef and green peppers, veg chow mein, fried rice, chips and free prawn crackers. All of the food was lovely but the beef and green peppers was the best I’ve ever eaten. Our order was triple checked so I can’t understand the negative reviews regarding wrong orders. If it wasn’t a 6 hour drive away I’d definitely eat here again.
