Allergen indicators are clearly marked on the menu making it easy to find dairy free and vegan options (and other allergens too). The service was very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The wine we chose was delicious and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Didn't fancy a starter but in hindsight that was an error, based on how tasty everything was. The Vegetable, Halloumi & Chickpea Rice was apparently enough to convince my fiancé she could be a full time vegetarian. The Miso Blackened Salmon was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The Chocolate St Emilion was a boozy delight of a pudding and The Spiced Plum Crumble will stick in my mind for years! Wish we could've eaten it all twice.

Our 3 children have additonal needs and the staff were absolutely fantastic catering for their needs. Our youngest is a restrictive eater but the staff separated every item of food to ensure she could happily eat everything. Little touches like this make it much easier for us as a family to eat out. The v shape cut of chips brought extra crispness and the seasoning for the salad covered the spiciness of the rocket salad. But the 33 pound medium rare prime cut fillet was a bit chewy. If it lands on this price range, we would expect something tender. The sirlon was still very wet on the surface, likely not rest enough. The lemon tart had not flavor of lemon. The crust part of the lemon was a bit raw. The worst part was the raspberry jam on the tart that overrides any lemon taste, if there was any. It was clean and I noticed, by the side, there was a glass jar of dog treats and some blankets, so I think well-behaved dogs are allowed. The lady who served me, as well as the other ladies, were super pleasant and very friendly. Food came out and was presented nicely on the plate, everything hot and cooked to perfection! The fried egg was fabulous and runny, the sausages well-seasoned (proper ones too, not like some you get elsewhere). The hash browns were nice and crispy, not soggy at all! Very filling and certainly set me up for the day. I think the breakfast and cappuccino came to about £16 altogether, which I don't think is bad at all, considering everything was fresh. Access to the restaurant can be gained through the lift also which makes it wheelchair accessible. Service was slow but it was a nice day and a little busy. Staff were polite and there's a good range of food. Vegetarian options available. Parking nearby and toilets onsite make it an easy one stop for all. Looking at the ceiling for 2+ hours puts an uncomfortable strain on your eye sockets and I’ve never been a fan 🥴. Other than that it was a very pleasant stay with a great nights sleep. It has a cosy cottage feel to it and is very homely. We were found a table quickly and drinks orders came quickly. We enjoyed our starters of soup and fishcakes and our lamb casserole was absolutely beautiful we have never tasted anything like it. Don’t be fooled, the place looks unassuming but it packs a punch! We had the pork belly, the beef and the kids had pizza. Utterly delicious. First off you can order yorkies as a side AND a pot of gravy. I am always wanting more of both. The portions were just right as well and we were able to sit for a moment and relax whilst the kids went into the playground. The staff were also brilliant, so friendly and helpful. The staff were so caring and asked if the table was ok, and if we were warm enough, the fire was blazing and they'd given us a table adjacent to the radiator. Food clearly freshly prepared and huge portions. The Gyros Chicken would easily have served 2. My mum had the soft shell crab and prawns, which were huge. My dad had the steak pie which he thoroughly enjoyed. The cheese pie I feel would have benefited from a stronger cheese, but that's personal taste and I do like a very strong cheese. All in all we will definitely return and recommend The Ketch very highly. Again the service was fantastic, well done.

It has been pretty quiet at these times, I assume it gets busier in the evening. The ketch is extremely dog friendly, offering water, toys and even treats for the dogs! The only good thing about our experience at the ketch was the lovely young lad on the bar who served us and finally brought us our food. We had to wait 1 and a half hour for our food and there were only 6 other people in the place. I asked him if they had a problem with the chef and he advised me that they had two new chefs that had started that day! When the food did finally arrive, some of it was okay but not quite what it said in the menu. Due to the extremely long wait and lack of ‘being bothered’ we went home for pudding and coffee. We were very disappointed as the recent reviews have been very good. In fact a big family gathering has been booked at this venue in November but after today’s experience I think it will may be cancelled!!

The drinks cam quickly and we were told they would come back for food order shortly. 30 minutes later nobody had come to take our food order. My wife went to the bar. Smiles and apologies were given. We were sat next to a table of 12z which I appreciate puts pressure on a kitchen. But this was never communicated to us. We had to chase for our food which arrived 1hr15 after being seated. What's most dissapointing about the front of house experience is two fold. The service was slow taking nearly 2 hours before we got our food. Drinks were good however getting charged £3.00 for can of coke does smart a bit. The food this time was okay but not a par on the previous visit, more basic pub grub than the culinary experience we had the first time. I had booked to eat here three nights on the trot but decided to cancel the 2nd and 3rd night in favour of somewhere else, put off by the 1st night experience unfortunately. There was only one chef on who was clearly overworked, it needs more cooking staff to up their game.

The place looked lovely and clean with many original features in the restaurant. We were made to feel welcome by our wonderful waitress Kelly who was polite, friendly, efficient and who went out of her way to ensure that we were looked after to a high standard ( thanks Kelly ). Overpriced food which is substandard for the money. Fish and chips was not cod or haddock which was £12 per head. I asked about this and they said it was cod. Well I eat fish alot and that was definitely something like basa fish (cheap). But to be fair it didn't state what fish it was on the menu. Chips were overdone. If you cant cook a good fish and chips then I worry about the rest. However staff were friendly. Meal was £42 for two people which is restaurant prices. Down an alley way from the main road the place is set back so you cannot immediately see it. We visited after a walk in the Peak District with our baby and was perfect. Staff were friendly and accommodating, high chairs provided and hot water. Plenty of choice of beers and plenty on new ones which aren’t very common. Perfect for a beer lover. The pub is also a restaurant and looked like it had been recently refurbished with modern stylish decor. Other guests were also friendly with a few locals taking time to chat and interact with ourselves and our baby. Highly recommend a visit.

It was positive then and it’s even more positive today. I have experienced Buttermilk and the team on several occasions on both personal and professional levels. We have had family parties, afternoon teas, takeaway breakfasts, held flower workshops in the Hayloft & Dovecote for work and provided fresh flowers for the coffee house for many years now. It’s always a friendly and warm welcome upon entering the coffee house and the food and coffee is delicious all within a beautiful setting. We walked in and were seated promptly. As soon as we had the menus I made them aware that I was gluten free (coeliac). The waitress said that she wasn’t sure whether they had anything gluten free as they were busy! She thenwent to check! The waitress came back and said that they have nothing gluten free and that they were TOO BUSY to cater for me. Never have I ever been told that a restaurant is too busy to cater for an allergy! The fish had no flavour and the batter and chips were extremely soggy with all the peas! This place also has a 1 star hygiene rating which I didn't realise until after eating.
